This was the best smartphone used. Looked so good, the UI was still consistent on Android, thanks to HTC widgets, everything looked similar. Now Android is like Windows, in total chaos. Also this phone has got optical mouse in the front, that was fantastic! You could scroll without touching screen or use as a home button.

I had purchased HTC Desire 10 pro recently on which I was able to do conference calls since my work involves me to do conference calls on a daily basis. However, since I have updated a software update recently on my HTC Desire 10 pro, now I am unable to do conference call. I am receiving a android.com error when I try to connect on callers on conference calls. I have checked with my mobile network operator, who has confirmed that my conference facility is not deactivated from their side. I suspect problem has started since I have updated software update on my phone. Pls. help resolve asap, as I am now handicapped in my work area. Pls. let me know if I can downgrade the software update, since earlier I could make conference calls on my HTC Desire 10 pro.

i live in kenya and ive used many htc phones from the 626,m7,m8,820ys and more but the 820g+ just sucks.it has limited features risky to brick it if not almost impossible to do an upgrade as it has kitkat installed with a mediatek chipset compared to the earlier 820ys that you can get a sense 7 and android upgrades.please htc when you a phone make sure we get the best out of the operating systems you install or the best out of your devices...the 820g+ has really let me down..

I am residing in Goa and had bought a HTC Desire 828 Dual Sim phone in May 2016. Unfortunately, after 10 months of use, experienced issues with the display. As the phone was under warranty, I went to the repair Collection Centre in Panaji-Goa that is listed on the HTC website but was told that the centre no longer has a tie up with HTC and that I would have to send the phone to Pune by courier. I called up the HTC Helpline (Call Centre) and they advised me to personally handed over the phone to the repair centre in Mumbai or Pune (Both approx. 600 kms from Goa) or else deposit it at the Collection Centre at nearest Belagavi (approx. 240 kms from Goa). Would advise all prospective mobile phone buyers from GOA, PLEASE DO NOT TO PURCHASE ANY HTC DEVICE as the warranty is as good as nothing.

Never ever did i purchase a worse phone than htc! No storage left as the operated system takes up half of the storage. I have 5 (chosen) apps and my storage is full. I bought a memory card but why do i have to pay for more storage while there are imposed apps that i don't use. Yes i can disable them but they are still stored on my phone! Also phone is very slow! Post upgrade it gets real HOT. Clean Master shows up to 62 degrees 3. Forced upgrade to Marshmallow 4. If you visit HTC service center, they say that you can not downgrade and HTC will get HOT if its on Marshmallow. 5. You are stuck with costly phone which can explode at any time, with no way out.

Since the last update I have not been able to use my .mac email. Neither Apple nor Optus could resolve the issue and HTC support phone went dead after advising me that any conversation would be recorded. The Live Chat person advised me that Android do not support the .mac email. This is a bogus excuse or sheer incompetence. I also resent the automatic updates and number of useless apps that cannot be removed. From a design point of view, the volume and on-off buttons should be at the top to avoid inadvertent muting of volume. I will never get another HTC and certainly do not recommend it to anyone, not even for free.

Its been 2 weeks I started using this phone and it has thousands of issues.It gets over heated, cannot type continuously the phone gets stuck, and sometimes cannot restart the phone and it was on off for one day continuously. I am having so many issues with this HTC D826.So please waste your money on buying this.

People, this phone was introduced 6 years ago. How do you expect to be fast, or to have a good battery? It was OK 6 years ago (even then it wasn't a proper flagship), but today it's just outdated. Just read a comment "don't buy". You cannot buy it even if you want to. Maybe some trashed secondhand unit, but there's no way you can find it brand new.

terrible, terrible phone. The only reason I got stuck with it was that my old, reliable Samsung got smashed to bits and I needed a new phone for work ASAP. HTC Desire was the only one I could walk away with for free on my plan. That was in Oct. 2015. First issue: my cheek switches the phone onto airplane mode when I'm in a call. Unforgivable behaviour for a phone. And since Dec I've been having battery life problems (some days it drains in about four hours even with the phone on airplane mode and me not using it AT ALL, other days it's fine despite me browsing for hours) and now it has switched itself off (despite 70% battery power) and refuses to reboot. I'm told this is a common software issue. If I had the money for a new phone I would run this one over with my car.

I had bought HTC desire 620 model , it was worked fine 1st 5month after that it was hanging,and getting switched off, and here I observed without (data)network it is working , once we opening net or data on , it suddenly getting hanging or switched off , phone dialer not working when is net on , once switched off net or data , then it takes time 10 to 15minutes for phone recover, I went service center they did software change , then it was worked fine one week, then again same problem repeat so kindly suggest what Will do, it was 7months old,

I bought mine at the end of the march 2010 and I am still using it :D I ve accidentaly dropped it many times, but mobile still holds together. I must admint that the construction is really solid. So far without any covers, the screen is as good as new, almost no scratches. Battery is relatively in a good shape. It can power the phone for about 20h with wifi and a day and half without. I have custom rom with app2sd (it was the only way how to overcome phones small internal memory) and about 100 apps installed. No lags noticed =D

I own this phone for about 5 years now. Never had any hardware problem with it, except that I have changed the battery recently. I did reset the phone to factory settings two times because of software problems. My only problem with it now is that the software is outdated and many applications are not longer available. The internal storage space is very limited as well compared to newer phones.

Personally, I like the desire. Whether or not the loud speaker is crap, or not good enough. I rarely use it. Texting, web browsing and camera are all about I use. This is actually my first HTC and I like it better than my LG Optimus L70. Considering it's out of date. What bothers me is that there might not be a screen shot camera. Either that, or I haven't figured out how to use such.

Why are People complaining about their brand new HTC Desire XXX here? This is OBVIOUSLY the page about the ORIGINAL HTC Desire from 2010! Go spam the correct pages, sheeple! I got the original HTC Desire the moment it was available in Germany in summer 2010. Still have it and still use it! Of course, Andriod 2.2 Froyo became a bit long in the tooth in 2013 and nearly unusable in 2014, so i decided to make the hop to a 3rd party ROM early 2015. Never looked back! LiquidSmooth-ROM with Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) gave my Desire a new life! The way was paved with hurdles (S-OFF, root, recovery, etc.) but now the 5yr old phone is more usable than some of its newer brethen (like Samsung Ace and other cheap Andriod phones plagued with Android 2). I saw a Lollipop custom ROM on the way too :-) TL;DR: The only first gen Smartphone still worth using today, because it can run Android 4.4.4 KitKat! Money invested wisely.

I'm very irritated with my HTC Desire. I looked online about how to save my storage to the SD Card instead of my phone. And now there is a ton of storage on my phone and it won't save SD Card no matter how many times I set it to save to the SD Card. Secondly, my HTC Desire data won't work because I've connected it to the WiFi. I have a ton of data left and no way to use it when I do need it. For example on road trips my Google Maps is unavailable because of the data issue. I'm so fed up with HTC and I will never be buying another one again.

I'm very dissatisfied with the HTC service provided to me. I bought the HTC Desire 826 on Jun 14 2015. On Jun 25th 2015, the entire touch sensor of the phone konked off. I went to the service centre and was told that the product will be replaced immediately BUT I have to go to the city of purchase- which is Bangalore and I live in Mumbai. The service expects me to spend another bomb on travelling to Bangalore from where I bought the phone 10 days ago when any other phone company- Samsung included provides All India Service where I will get a product replacement anywhere in India. What sort of a 25k phone konks off in ten days? And why put me through the trauma of buying a spare phone? I now have no phone for atleast 15 days while the Mumbai service centre tries to replace the touch sensor of my phone! (that too, they do not guarantee it'll be done in 15 days) Terrible experience with an HTC product! Please think of the customer's plight and provide All India replacement and service.

I just want to say that after 5 years, the htc desire that I've bought is still smooth and fine as if I've just bought it yesterday. I bought an extended battery with casing and now it can lasts up to a day standby with 4 hours of sot at max brightness. I use it for watching series( yes i know the screen is rather small), my alarm clock, my backup phone for other line and also to browse fb after I've off my main phone to charge it for the night. Dropped it countless times and even tho it has some tiny dents and is roughened up, it still looks sexy. ^_^

The HTC-601 dezire is a good phone but the company is having horrible service back up and the service station in Mysore is filled by lazy and lethergic people who does not care to respect the customer. I gave my phone for repair and they took 10 days to decide what to do, and other 15 days to get the part. Still I am praying for my phone. I even rooted it to test custom firmware like cyanogen, and etc.., but I reverted it back to factory. So when they will send sms�???? No time spam� after a year??? only god only know�. We have to pray the god for that�. Finally it is worst � service provided by HTC� (TVS electronics Ltd)� So I request all of you.. to not buy any HTC product�.. (U will same your money and Time�)

HTC phones are nothing but garbage. I bought a htc desire 601 and after a couple weeks the battery started losing its charge and would only last a few hours just sitting on the table on sleep mode. After about a couple of months I plugged it in for about twenty min. and good thing I checked it cause it melted all to hell from the inside out and could have burned my house down.I sent the phone in for warranty repair and they will not cover the damage or replace the phone. They expect you to pay $150.00 even if it is under warranty. DO NOT BUY THESE PHONES THEY ARE A FIRE HAZARD AND WILL BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN.

I have been using an iPhone for the last 4 years and when my last one broke I decided I should switch to android like the rest of the world. I am so disappointed in this phone. It is literally awful. My camera is brutal, the pictures come out very blurry and there is no flash. The screen does not get bright enough to see during the day in the sun even at its highest brightness level. It is really slow and I know for sure that is not because of my carrier because I never had this problem before with other phones. When the phone is connected to my computer the screen suddenly because ridiculously sensitive and can't be used. Some of the applications I used before on my iPhone don't work on this phone. Really, I had only heard great things about HTC phones and was so excited to get one and now I am just disappointed and frustrated and feel like I wasted my money.

Root the phone first, install clockwork mod then recovery, partition the memory card fat32 for half of the cards size as primary and the other half as primary ext 4. When doing this use Linux mint live cd and gparted. Then download superniva Rom zip from the net and place onto the memory cards fat 32 partition. Now put card in the phone hold volume down and power button together and enter recovery. Once here wipe dalvik, then do full wipe, the install zip from SD card supernova. Wait and reboot. Once system loads before doing any setup hold power button down, reboot option and safe reboot. Blue light will come on then off. Once system loads loads setup and enjoy all the storage on your ext partition. Im showing over 3gb of internal storage now. For mire info check out xda developers pages. Hope this helps.

You must go to the bootloader, press Vol- and hold, then press the Power button (in the same time) for a few seconds. You will be in bootloader and here can you see your PVT version. Yes, you can unroot, but i don't know if there be a trace...

ahh. the desire bravo. my very first android phone. after well over 3 years, it still works like a charm. if ppl ask themselves how to resolve the low memory issue, go check the XDA forum. this is an epic device, must be as the nexus one's twin brother. it has kickass development support, and still can compete with modern day phones. it is built to last, dropped it many times, and its barely visible. screen is very sturdy, and scratch resistant, the metal detail surrounding the screen gives it extra rigidity, but battery life is poor. after my battery was worn out, i got a Mugen Power battery that has 1600mah instead of 1400, and now i reach almost 2 days battery life. if you consider buying this, even if it is second hand, go right ahead, you will not regret it. this is exellent value for its money. make shure you take my hints here, and you will have a great device.

Great phone! I dropped one in the pool, and bought another one just because I liked it so much. I smashed the second one, and when I tried the first it worked, even though it was in the pool! Lots of great support from the modding community. The biggest drawback is its low internal memory which can easily be fixed with a custom rom and a2sd. I had an AOKP rom with 4.2.3 running perfectly. Unfortunately, I left it on the roof of my car, and it's gone now :( I'm actually considering buying another one, but will likely upgrade to something a little newer and with a bigger screen.

Root it and install a custom firmware. I am curently using MildWild os, you can find all the details about this on xda-developers. With my new os, the phone is blazing fast and I made a 2gb partition for a2sd and now have 2gb internal memory for all my apps. It's an outdated phone so dont ask it to perform as a new phone. Just try to make it better yourself or just get a new phone.

Moreover, while accessing the internet on one SIM other SIM is remaining inactive. And the message is displayed like no SIM in slot and internet access is automatically get disconnected. Handset show the message like service is not available. However the network from service provider is available and it was confirmed by service provider and cross verified with other handset. It took so much time to return back to main menu. As I have handled and experienced, previously phone was well about the internet access. Shall I say this handset is faulty and freak? i tried some roms on my htc desire but after some days i got a lot of problems like the wifi didnt work bluetooth i didnt got any messages etc.in my opinion puting new roms to old phones is nice but they will not work properly because the rom is just not meant for old phones and you will have to reboot the phone to get it to the previos rom or through it away.

Everyone posting has to remember this. The HTC Desire is almost 4 years old now. It was fantastic when it was first released and had the absolute latest android at the time. Of course 4 years later phones are better. This is still a good phone for a 4 year old phone. Just don't expect it to act like a new phone.

In its day this was a great phone. The camera was never wonderful, but its a phone. Providing the weaknesses in the camera didn't dissuade you this was a great phone to own and use. Sadly, the increasing size of apps mean that the phone now struggles to cope. So I find that the "low space" message is frequently if not constantly displayed. So I have to clean out the cache and reinstall apps on a daily or weekly basis. I think the main cause of the weakness is the limited internal memory. So when I upgrade to a new phone I'll be making doubly sure it has plenty of internal memory available.

I got the HTC desire phone Oct 2012 and almost immediately it gave trouble, at the local shop they told me it could not do the faults that I reported.but they found that it could. It was sent back to the supplier for updates ( without any loan phone being offered,even though it was on a contract,my problem! ). When it came back after 2 weeks or more it did the same faults as soon as I started it up again. Back to the factory and this time they admitted they couldn't fix it. Now I have gone back to using a very ordinary, basic new phone as I have it to actually use for communication and not as a toy. It is going to be a shame when it gets to the stage when we have no choice but to have to have these phones that can do everything except the very thing that they were invented for.

I have been having problems with my HTC Desire for the last month. I have only had it for about 4 months and there is no damage to the phone. In the beginning of the problems I had some occasional problems with the touch screen, especially at the bottom of the screen and was unable to unlock my phone or hit the home screen button. As time has gone on, I cannot use my phone unless someone texts me because I cannot get into it at all. The ring will not let me pull it up to open the phone. It texts on it's own, plays candy crush by itself, the bottom row of letters including the back space does not work at all and it just starts doing it's own thing shaking and opening all kinds of stuff. It has even answered phone calls by itself (which I am unable to answer phone calls) and has called people. I do not know what to do to fix this situation and I am extremely unhappy!!!

I bought an HTC Desire C in Calcutta, India. It worked well for about six months, after which I had several problems. I asked for the set to be replaced as it was during the warranty period but HTC does not replace faulty sets, they refer you to a service centre, which is difficult to find. Hi folks, Regarding moving apps to the SD Card - just try googling for the manuals on the web (rooting may be required, so be careful). It worked for me on this model, but some applications can't be moved from the phone internal memory, so don't rely much on this option. I still have low on space notification every time I try to install a new app or update the old ones. HTH!

I have this phone since August 2010. Just before going out of the 2 year warranty I had the battery swollen badly and it was replaced by local HTC service. I routed and S-OFFed the phone and tried different builds of android. Unfortunately the only one that's really stable is the original one BUT that limits your storage a lot and after installing just a couple of apps you're out of space. The phone would have been awesome even now after 3 years if they were thinking a little bit about the internal storage. All the "apps to SD" excuses are rubbish and it's not really helping. I'm thinking to change the phone mostly because of the storage problem mentioned above but now it seems everybody is building devices with HUGE displays, devices that almost cannot fit in your pants/jacket pocket. The ones with a little bit smaller displays are cut in the area of performance so if you want to benefit of the performance you're forced to buy ping-pong/tennis rackets :(

My LED Flash does not seem to be working, though I wonder if it's a problem with my internal settings as I have not dropped or damaged the phone yet and it has been like this since purchased. Have tried 3 or 4 different ROMs and I found the slickest performance and most spare memory after installing AOKP Jellybean 4.2.2: Before you can install you need to get root so use this rooting tool: http://revolutionary. io You will lose all phone data and settings so use whatever backup facilities each app will support. Still love my Desire - a really good handset in its day and still out-specs many of today's mid-market handsets. It has lovely physical buttons (that Google won't like), a very useful trackpad and always seems to bounce well when dropped! HTC left it out in the rain and didn't provide an upgrade path from 2.2. I'm rooted and using Android 4.2.2 from AOKP and everything is working slickly, even the memory issue is no longer an issue.

Excellent, fast phone. The trackball is especially useful for text editing. However, its only flaw is the low internal memory. The default internal memory is 147MB for apps. The 437MB of rom is divided into "operating system" 250MB, "Play Store Cache" = 40MB, "Internal Memory for apps" 147MB. Reference here: 30MB of "Internal Memory" goes towards contacts storage, leaving only 100MB for apps which equals about 30 apps that you can fit on the phone. The solution to the low memory problem is to root the phone and partition the external SD card to include a "internal memory" partition, expanding the internal memory to a maximum of 500MB. This is complicated and takes a lot of research.

If you are thinking about buying this phone to root, you must check the HBOOT version first, if it has HBOOT starting 1.03 you will not be able to S-Off & root. The other issue is the low internal memory, I only have 80mb left after the shipped apps and downloading a couple more which are saved to SD, unable to update all Google apps as this will leave me with no more room, a problem considering I am unable to root my phone and get rid of all the Orange guff. Apart from this the phone is great, fast and excellent screen resolution. my advice if your thinking of purchasing one of these second hand, go for an unbranded version.

The HTC Desire is actually OFFICIALLY upgradeable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The only problem is that this upgrade is not available through OTA. To download the RUU you must go to: ­ and download the RUU which will then update the OS. However, all your apps will be wiped. SD card will be untouched.

This is my 'upgrade' from the Hero. I was swithering about buying a Nexus 4 for £239 or seeing what phones my dad had lying around, and having ported my google account over to this one, it's still nice and quick, the apps run great, and it's cost me £5 in a replacement battery. Joy. I can use TV Catchup without any drag or artefacting, and my other apps run fine. I found the manual upgrade to 2.3 (gingerbread) as HTC only did server updates to 2.2 (Froyo). That all installed fine, whoopee. The kicker will be in a month or 2 when I get my Pebble: it needs to run on 2.3 or later, and needs bluetooth 2.1 or better. Desire has both of these but if there is noticeable delay/lag/compatibility issues my experiment will have failed. If, however, the Pebble works fine, then I'm golden (if Bluetooth 4 LE works on it even better, but Android are still dragging their heels on that!). All in all I'm happy with the phone, it does what I need and should be pretty cheap compared to a new Nexus 4. I'll report back if the Pebbling is a disaster!

I have one of this. At first I thought it can be my best friend but I started to realize that it cannot go along with me. The internal memory limits the apps that I can save. The battery is also weak that it can't last 24 hours if you have data plan (have your FB apps, Gmail, and so on apps sync on your phone [all active]). yeah, the prob is, 512 mb is the RAM space for your OS. Desire currently ships with Froyo, with some running Eclair. Froyo takes up its space, then what is left, is what you see. I suggest rooting your phone, so that you may force install your apps to SD card...!

There's a few ICS roms for the Desire. You'll have to root your phone first and partition the SD card off with a 1-1.5gb EXT4 partition to use some of the scripts though since the on board memory is too small. Sandvold's ICS rom is the best so far. There are a few out there with Sense 4.0 but are in their very early stages.

That is the new Google play services; as Roy suggested, you may delete it as it takes up space (7mb) and as all of us desire users know, internal storage space is precious. I deleted it, but it keeps re-installing whenever I connect to data of any kind.

root your phone from going to XDA forum, then read the guides on first page of htc desire question and answer section. If you can't browse there, ask a question there and you will find the links to tutorial "how to root your desire and S- off". After that install a custom rom like oxygen 2.3.2 is the best ROM so far for this device. Change Hboot to oxygen R2 Hboot. Partition your SD card into ext3 or ext 4 using 4ext recovery tool. You will need one month to learn all this shit and when you apply all of this on your phone, you feel like using nexus 4 or S3 .. lol believe me rooting a desire is best thing you can do customize the memory and other issues.

You can mpve applications to your SD card/ In my case that wasnt enough. What helped me is turning back to factory defaults. You will lose youre settings and have to reinstall your applications however.

HTC Desire A8181, For internet, when I am at home, it has been 'linked' to my TM unifi but do not know why since yesterday, it shows, not in range and at times, I can use internet using USER-PC_Network. All I did is rooting the phone and partitioning the sd card for internal memory.. you can do on your own. just check the internet for rooting help.. good luck... You can get every app from the Google Play store, however, there is minimal space to put on more than 15 or so apps. Forget about updating apps. I constantly get a notification saying I'm low on storage and I have only 8 apps on top of factory installed ones.

I've had the desire for two years now. I'm replacing it now with the only reason being; lack of space for apps. The memory available for apps is way too little for current days apps. I can only have a few must have apps like what's app, 3rd party keyboard etc. Also android 2.3 update takes up much more space. I purchased HTC Desire V for 16500 from poorvika mobile world at annanagar before just a month. Here is my exp. I was told that the internal memory was 4 GB .. After buying I noticed the internal memory shown in this phone is only 93MB. The OS and preinstalled apps in this phone take 3GB .. out of rest 1GB only 93MB is shown.. that too after using the phone for somedays while I have installed games and apps , it showed even lesser like 60MB only.. The preinstalled apps cannot be removed or moved to SD card which means you cannot make any free space in the hidden 3 GB.. We should use only 1 GB internal memory.. after installing each app we need to move it to SD card. I have digested all this at once but from the 3rd week of purchase the phone has display issues. Whenever I open any message or any menu in settings , while a new window is about to popout suddenly a thick red outline is flashed everytime at all the sides of the screen. Also below the touch screen , the exit button and the main menu button is not working often. I have to press for a long tme or keep on tapping at it. Guys I feel so bad , irritated after spending 16500. Am yet to go to service centre and lloking for a replacement. Dont know whether I'l get one. The only reason to post all this is because I dont want anyone else to spend this much and feel like me. Bad products shouldnt be sold that too at this cost n all.. If your Desire is rooted, create an ext partition on yor sd card ( about 1gb), and install an aplication called "S2E". - Problem solved. Your Desire will now have 1gb of space reserverd for apps. I have almost 100 apps installed, using over 600mb.

Simpy install contact backup software on the phone. Make a copy as CSV file to your PC. Delete file content, leaving one row in the file and restore it on the phone using same contact backup programm.

I know that HTC company CEO is a myanmar who is managing in Taiwan. But it is a shameful to get such a very very late reply, it takes over a year to answer a simple question in IT world. The worst thing was that I bought a HTC cell phone, HTC Desire in Singapore around June 2010. It was my first Android Touch cell phone. I carefully handled it like my own child. After some time not more than 6 months, Its recharging system was not working very well and I requested to repair it in your after sale service center in Harbourfront. They had not repaired properly and returned to me with the remark every thing is OK. After I went back to Myanmar around January 2011, the phone started to give me trouble with running battery. After 2 more weeks, even I changed a new battery it did not start anymore. I sent it back to Singapore to get a repair, they said it could not be repaired anymore. Although I am a Myanmar citizen like your CEO, I will never ever buy your products anymore. Shameful HTC. Please forward my message to your CEO to let him know that his staffs are not taking serious about customers, not like Apple i phone company( If their product is found defects, they will change a new one instance). There will be more customers like me who are getting disappointments because of your products and lack of taking responsibility from your staff with inefficiency in after sale service.

Check your application settings and disable all possible automatic checks and updates (news feed updaters, facebook app, email check frequency setting, application update checks from the Play store settings, everything you can find). All those consume battery by connecting to internet constantly. Also lower your display brightness. Display is one of the biggest battery consumers. Those should help quite a bit.

Greetings, I used this phone 2 years ago when it was rather new, and it held up very well. The buttons stayed responsive, and the processor held up, running all apps even to this day. My only problem is the internal memory, which is half eaten up by installed apps and updates for those. It's impossible to really use this phone for anything other than basic smartphone functions. As for getting it today, it's a bit outdated. Sure, it'd be cheap, but there'd be a few better Android phones nowadays.

Amazing phone, only problem is internal memory which is easily fixed by flashing a rom with A2SD scripts and buying a 16GB memory card, partition EXT4 -2GB and remainder fat32 Battery life was also a problem. Flash a rom without the Sense UI, or undervolt, or gain root permissions and download "Juice defender ultimate"

Yes it does. The problem of this device is its ROM memory. There are only free 147 mb. You need a cooked ROM like CM7 to use S2E and use the external mSD as ROM memory.

Frustrating phone, battery life is horrible. The reason it doesn't store apps to the SD card is cause if you do store them to the card, you can't use the apps widget, its just a default setting.

I used the phone for about a month. The time was constant fight against low memory errors, even though there were not many apps installed and no games at all. Yes, all possible apps were installed to SD and cache files removed few times a week. I didn't wanted to root the phone, seems too complicated for me, I rather purchased a new phone with decent amount of user available memory. I want to use my phone, not to hack it. Hardware is excellent, responsive screen and cpu handles its tasks well and Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense is real pleasure to use. Excellent phone is rendered half useless due to very low internal memory available for user apps/app data. I really can't understand how HTC could have released something like this from its factories, without even giving customers change fix the problem later on with official and not warranty voiding upgrage. Upgrade could well have been created, since several successful reports of rooting the phone proofs it.

I've had my Desire for almost two years and never had a problem. It's getting a little slow in its old age but that's a small price to pay for a very reliable phone. Sadly it took a swan dive into a full bath tub a few months ago and died. I bought a new phone the next day (INQ Cloud Touch--never again!) and put my Desire aside, forgetting to toss it in the trash. Lo and behold, a few months later I unpacked it after a move and on a whim plugged it in and pressed 'on'. I'm typing this review from it right now. You won't get that from an iPhone. I was so pleased to stop using that terrible Cloud Touch--but that's another review for another day.

I am looking for a new phone and this one seems pretty decent. I was wondering though does this phone require a data plan? Does it flip out or no lol and does the camera flip so you can see yourself? I am using the HTC Desire to type this now! Far better than wildfire s and iPhone 4s. Some lag issues but nowhere near enough to put me off. I paid 170 pounds for this phone with everything, including a protective case. The screen density is more than the sensation xe. And much bigger than the wildfire s. It also has a way faster processor The only annoyance is the internal memory is tiny. But otherwise, incredible phone for the money I paid. Way better than paying 300 pounds for iPhone.

I absolutely hate this phone. Its okay for the first several months..but i got a two year contract and i havent even had it a year and i can name a list of problems it has. First my camera stopped working and the camcorder, then the flash was going off randomley. Now the internet works no where but at my house, and i can no longer send or receive pic/vid messages. The phone has also gotten slow and its very aggravating. I'll be getting a different phone soon.

HTC Desire is much better than the HTC Wildfire S, it has a bigger, better quality screen, a bigger battery and a much faster processor. The only thing is that the Wildfire S has a newer version of HTC Sense but I don't think it's worth buying it just for that.

i have got the desire myself and upgraded to 2.3.3 before i done this my battery was fine since the upgrade my battery needs charging three times a day so got a replacement battery and it is the same story so i would advise not to upgrade

It's a very good phone! if you some problems with your phone, it's maybe cause it came jammed since it left the factory!!! For update to 2.3 visit the htc developement center on the web. For watching hd videos you will need a free bs player from the android store. enjoy!

You have to unlock your phone and root then you can have a custom rom which will enable you to have 2gig internal memory My white Desire is running on Supernova which is base on 2.3, and gives me 2gig internal memory and overclock to 1.3ghz. Root the phone and you can actually port over almost ANYTHING! Its internal systems allow even ICS to run quite easily, and the camera is capable of 1080p at 24fps after you install a custom ROM. It WILL shut the camcorder off after 1 minute automatically, as CMOS sensors CAN overheat.

Agree with the below comment...however, just need to add. Android ICS v 4.0 is available for this phone after root. Also, if you are a fan of HTC Sense, Android Gingerbread 3.2 is available with HTC sense v3.5. All this will give u heaploads of space for apps. SO FOLKS ROOT AWAY. This is still a great phone to have :)

There is an easy(ish) way to solve this 1. Root and unlock bootloader 2. Install CM7 3. Make an sd-ext partition (ROM Manager) 4. Install the app S2E and move your apps to it Now you'll have up 512MB of extra space for apps :) Enjoy

I bought an HTC Desire second-hand from a guy who was short of cash! He really didn't want to sell. It is my first touch screen phone having come from a Nokia E71 that I've had for over 3 years. Now I've figured out how it all works, I like it. I can change batteres, put my own micro SD card with my choice of music, and the Bluetooth works well with everything. Apart from the rather ugly brown colour (which i've covered with a case),can't really find much wrong with it. It certainly is fast.

In my opinion one of the worst cellphones I ever used. Why, you ask? 1. Only 128MB internal storage. I constantly have to move apps from internal storage to SD, but some apps run only from internal storage. In addition apps run slower from SD. 2. Very weak battery. Bigger capacity battery helped a little, but still terrible battery drain. I charge it every night and in the car. 3. Bad reception. 4. Slow. Very slow. In conclusion stay away. Not worth it even as a second hand phone.

I've only dropped mine a couple of times and I have had it for 4 months, yesterday the phone would not let me open ANY apps at all it would suddenly force close all of them, then it would say I have low storage space and can't send SMS Messages, when I only had 2 downloaded apps. Then when I could text i would push the screen button to type all it would type out is "w" I tried turning it off to see if it would just go away but then when i turned it back on the HTC screen appeared then as usually after it was the US Cellular screen but after that it returned to the HTC screen and just kept repeating. In my experience, this has made me not want to buy any HTCs anymore.

And also awesome sense 3.5 ROM based. 2. HTC Desire doesn't have any front camera, I doub't if we really use it. Except you are into online video calling. 3. There's very little that reviews have not already covered. This phone is probably one of HTC's best. I,have been using mine for nearly a year and a half and have been very happy with its features, performance, estetics,and OS overlay of Android. It was definitely at the top of its class when it hit the market. The only negative to this phone is its RAM storage. Since HTC's system takes up so much space, it just does not leave enough room for you to download apps to your hearts content without having to occasionally delete some other already installed app. Otherwise, this is a magnificent piece of technology.

This device proved so within 2 months of use is that it serves more like a camera than anything else, he lives losing phone signal, even when standing in one place where the signal was no more than once, has numerous problems in multimedia features, not even on the internet connects easily set up, forcing me to power cycle the device every time you need to connect, the feature maps (using Google Maps and NDrive) do not work, applications of games for android do not work properly, catching the game and often catching the same, it happens with other applications as its task manager of the unit. The menu of the device was also done in a nastily uncomfortable, taking into account that some settings to find long lost, as the favorite part of the way HTC Sense, simply do not back the information you search for your phone contacts and some options (such as saving the application direct in SD Card) simply do not exist and are basic things that a smartphone with android technology should have. I updated the version of Android in this device, and to my surprise, did not improve at all, to contact the part that confuses the contacts features in other applications such as facebook with phone contacts that are often quite distinct and should not be mixed.

This phone is not good. Too little memory space. Have to delete all the things that I want, or it tells me not enough space, and that I have to clear my memory space before being able to use the messages application, which means that i can't text/even read a text. And I can't view my pictures from the gallery either. You may say that I could have move my downloaded apps to the SD card to save space, but some apps like whatsapp can't be moved. And I have alr moved whatever I could into the card. And the apps that are taking up the space are actually the apps in the phone itself which I don't use. And they take up so much space and can't be deleted. So actually everything about this phone is okay except for its lack of internal storage space.

My desire's been with me for almost a year. its been through a lot of software upgrades, from stock froyo, to official gingerbread update, and then root, from miui to cyanogenmod7, and today HTC Sensation XL's software. htc desire has always been great to me. got all my basic necessities covered,and all my wants achieved. its,now i can say, one of my greatest phone since nokia 7110.hehe. this phone is a great buy. worth the money i spent.

Nope. unfortunately its not official.. and it would be next to impossible if HTC will allow something like putting sensation XL's software in htc desire. they were very reluctant and almost didn't allow the Gingerbread update for desire, allthe while they know its hardware ready for the update. bunch of selfish idiots they are in htc. I rooted my phone (don't be afraid of the word "root", its no less than a jailbreak on iDevices). its really a great User Interface. Android 2.3.7 running Sense 3.5. the animations of widgets and the whole UI are great. good thing its compatible with the screen resolution of Sensation XL which is WVGA... try it, google about it.. its a worth upgrade! you wont regret it. try searching HTC desire running runnymede by sebastiaan15 from xda developers...

Just install the 2.3.3 Rom for this HTC Desire, it's lot better than 2.2 and the battery lasts a bit longer. If you want your battery to last longer than just dicrease your screen brightness, put your screen timeout as low possible (15 sec) and download advanced task killer and put set it to auto-kill every half hour. This does the trick, believe me, i tested this stuff in every possible way

This works, trust me. I freed up a lot of space on my 150 mb Rom and I did not need to upgrade to GB. It allows u to transfer most of your data to your SD card even for apps which were not developed with phone to SD data function.

I have used the HTC Desire for about a year now, and it is by far the worst phone I have ever owned. I have to constantly charge the phone. When fully charged and no use, and disabling wi-fi and bluetooth the battery will last about four hours. If you do not disable wi-fi and bluetooth the battery last about three hours, again with no use. If you actually use it the battery will last about two hours or less. Charging also takes forever. I try to start the day with a fully charged battery(I charge it all night). By the time I get to work (about 30 min.) I have 3/4 battery. I then plug it in again and let it charge while I am working. By the time I get home in the evening it is dead. I usually do not go directly home. I ride motorcycles on the weekends and I just leave the phone at home because after about three-four hours the phone is dead.

yes you can update it to gingerbread 2.3.3 but it takes a long time, a lot of knowledge and hassle and it only actually gives you a tiny increase in speed and an option to fastboot the phone where it starts up in about 15 seconds

I enjoyed a lot with this. this phone's multitasking function is superb. camera is giving pretty nice pics. low ringtone volume. low internal memory (actually 150 mb only) but it is acceptable. those who r complaining about battery problems, pls understand one thing. Android OS mobiles battery drain faster than java mobiles & other OS mobiles. phone gets heated up when we play hardly while charging. that's not a big problem for me. when I start camera, (not all time.only few times) the displayed view got divided into several parts and confuse me and getting correct when I restart camera. pls help me if anyone know about this. some people are saying that, we can extend internal memory upto 1 gb. if it is true, pls explain about that. overall I'll give 9 out of 10 for htc desire. proud to own htc desire :) waiting for ur responses. thanks in advance.

This is a fantastic phone, it only has a 5 megapixel camera but still captures some stunning photos in good lighting, it suffers a lot in bad light, but i guess that is a problem for most phones. In terms of performance this phone is fast, the 1 ghz processor is super slick even with just a single core, it plays most games on the android market, even the ones with 3d graphics. The design is really nice and good to hold, he screen is bright and doesnt suffer too badly in direct sunlight. In terms of the new 2.3.3 upgrade that has been released on www.htcdev.com, it is a lot of hassle for not a lot of result, it takes a long time and a lot of effort and knowledge, just a warning, it does not have the new HTC sense therefore it does not look like the wildfire s or desire hd, the only changes i have noticed are that it is very slightly faster and it has an option to fastboot the phone, this is useful but i dont think it is worth all the hassle. Overall the phone itself is fantastic but i dont recommend bothering with the 2.3.3 upgrade.

First of all, before you speak, you should search a little on Google to see how can you make a smartphone be faster and to make it's battery last longer! If you would not keep the wifi, bluetooth, active sync always open and the display on 100% brightness, you should see a better battery right from that moment! And if you would not be so lazy to search a bit for "how to flash a custom ROM on my Desire" you should see how easy is to make your phone a really good one! I flashed and tried all the custom roms for this phone. I will remain at MIUI XJ ROM from xda developers because it's fastest rom for this phone. It's based on cyanogenmod, has no lags like sense roms, has good battery life (mine lasts 1 day with 3g activated), it's light with ram and i have 1GB for installing apps. Cheers!

this is my first Android phone and I do like it a lot. It's obviously not the best out there but it works perfectly for me - I love the little trackpad, perfect for correcting errors in typing or putting your cursor in a specific spot without tapping the screen twenty times. I also love the tactile home, menu, back, search - but it could be just because I have fat fingers and tap the wrong places sometimes. I have had problems with the phone - I actually had to replace my original one because of a sensor issue: During normal in-call operation, the screen turns off when it's at your ear to prevent accidental taps and then turns back on when you bring it down in front of you - my sensor stopped working so I wasn't able to hang up without pulling the battery. Also, it has very little internal memory and a lot of stock applications that are set to auto-update, therefore space runs out VERY quickly. I fixed this by uninstalling all updates to programs I don't use and unchecking the auto-update box in the market. Obviously you could eliminate this problem by rooting it, but I didn't want to go that route. Overall I really like the phone - it's been a wonderful little device. Hope this helps someone :-)

I love this phone. i had Iphone and blackberry but this one i really love. using it with an android is a plus. picture quality is great because i take pictures of book pages i can't take out from the library. the screen is so wide. the downside though is the battery life gets easily drained.

Manuel, calibrate the battery. Google calibrate HTC desire battery. Mine went from 6 hours to 18. 1. connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged. 2. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off. 3. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green. 4. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on. 5. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green. 6. Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it. You need to use this sequence only once. Sounds complex but worth it.

How the f%@k do they claim 360 hours standby time on battery? Mine is less than 12 months old and did the normal full charge/drain/full recharge at beginning & I'm luck to get 2 days standby out of it. That's 48 hours not 360. Absolutely bullshit. If you use the browser, you're lucky to get a full day out of it. Talk time is nowhere near specs either. On a great signal here so not pushing to get out. My old Nokia went for days on browser & talk time. The one & only HTC I'll ever buy. Thank God the contract is almost over! Good riddance to rubbish!

Great phone, great screen, great UI experience (HTC Sense), very reliable, very fast and smooth internet browsing thanks to fast processor and graphics. Hardly ever crashed even with all the Apps I downloaded, great video. Multitasking great thanks to Android OS. Infinitely more useable and versatile than the iPhone 3G it replaced. Great that you can extend the memory with Micro SD cards which you can swap in and out easily. Similarly you can change the battery very easily so no need to ditch the phone after however many months/years it takes you to knacker the battery; let's face it any smartphone battery will be reduced to a smouldering pile of crusty Li-ion sooner or later. Do that with an iPhone or other sealed battery device and you're looking at forking out for a new phone as the cost of replacing the sealed battery is so high. Of course now you can get a Sensation XE which is even better, but the Desire is still an absolute Gem in it's own right.

I owned a desire for nearly a year never dropped it no apps and battery life would not last half a day just making one call to my girlfriend. I tried deleting all apps and resetting the phone and still same results. This could be annoying when I was out in the car if ever I broke down or needed it for an emergancy I would have been stuffed. I sold the phone on envirophone and got a nokia 1800 and battery life last for days. Does exactly as it says on the box a mobile phone, no camera but it works great. When you get a smartphone it seems to be a step back in technology when coming to the battery life. Thanks for reading.

I used Contact Remover Plus to merge duplicates, that saved me just enough to get over the 25mb mark If you have your contacts synchronized with your google account, then on the thc you can delete the contacts and facebook data while updating, and then get them back afterwards (remember to make a google contacts bakcup first!)

This was an has been my fist and only phone I have had running on android... at first i thought i waisted my time with it, however i have to give a uge thumbs up for android.. This has been the first time I have been challenged to learn how the phone works the entire set up and configuration of the schemes assisted in learning the entire phone... To this I am thankful to HTC for challenging me... after that i had no hassles with the phone or struggling to find anything i was looking for... I like this so much that I have gone and played with the HTC flyer recently as I am looking for a tablet... and again my mind has been made up with the simplicity of how easy and simple it is to get use to how the device works... the other great reason right now is that Apple I-pad's applications are all cost as dollars and for someone who does not live in America or anywhere else where the dollar might not be as strong as it is it is easy not having to pay six - eight time the price shown for the application.

What have you done to let this phone overheat, I have had mine for two and a half years with no hassle... I did start restarting just before the last update on the android OS became available... after updating the OS the phone worked brilliantly again... After about a month... the memory started giving problems like dropping all the data and unmounting... ths was annoying as all the apps and the camera does not work without teh SD card... Thought that it was because of the 8GB or the 16 GB I normally used and not the 4 GB that was supplied with the phone went back to the GB and same problem... Tried getting mounting applications and formatting the SD card using the PC this did not do anything... After a while I started playing with the phone again and the fact that the memory card did not work was becoming a real problem.... Eventually went to Settings and SD & Phone storage where I came across the format option on the phone... Something I normally never used so I neglected to look there when the problem started furthermore I thought that I have already formatted the card "this will never work" it happened and the card was fixed. Phone has been working before and since without any further problems..

Very disappointed in this phone and in HTC. This phone tends to overheat and fry the antennae resulting in dropped calls. HTC wouldn't do anything about it when I was just 11 days out of warranty.

it's not the phone its google and android that's why rooting should be carried out asap but if you don't know how to then it's dangerous does anyone know of a site that can do over the air and accept visa for payment? thanks
