Whoa people ... anyone ever heard of a User's Manual? Pretty much available online from various sources in addition to HTC product info on their web site. If you're the old school type HTC has a toll-free number so you can speak to someone in tech support. You paid for the service, why not use it?

Little late. Past couple months seems. Verizon and sprint have changed data access systems for prepaid phones. Lead to new account problems if you don't remember your number and password. Furthermore made it impossible without a working phone to call tech support to activate your phone and add airtime. I took short route by doing a new costumer setup and avoided trying to get my old number and account active again. After activation took 5 minutes to add airtime card on sprint dialed *729# and quickly loaded the card. My assumption is new vendor phones are not compatible with the old software for Google phone. So HTC setups need different software to activate phones. Cons- - Activation requires another phone to do! Expired account will require you to use another phone to activate account again.

Been using mine for five year. Still an excellent e-book reader and YouTube. It's aged awfully in as much the web browser is really slow, but for media consumption I can't draw it. The battery still holds an excellent charge and it's a rugged beast of a design. Great tablet!

Although this tablet is a little outdated right now, it still has a strong build. Well done HTC! We use this tablet as a wifi hotspot, and so far it has excellent signal and the connectivity is still going strong. Phones and laptops connected to the wifi hotspot can expect little to no delay in loading a webpage as it is super fast. It has the fastest and most stable internet connection out of all the devices at home, beating even the iPhone! It's battery life is also really good, even with the wifi hotspot active the entire day, and this is considering that we brought this tablet in 2012, which is 4 years ago. However, this device is running a very old version of android, so it is hardly used, besides being a wifi hotspot. But it is a great device, really glad we brought it.

This tablet is soooo bad, it was ok at first but its so slow has so many issues and just sooooo many better options for the same price and ive been using it as my main device for almost 2 years now i should know. Its really heavy, the skin is really heavy and makes the device laggy because it only has 1 gig ram and update to on screen buttons is stupid because it deactivates the captive buttons which I loved. The pen which comes with it is thick and hard to keep with tablet as the case which comes with the tablet doesn't have a slot for the pen

what great about this device is the pen! it's using n-trig pen same as used in surface pro 3, n-trig have better sensor / more natural than Wacom digitizer even n-trig only 256 pressure sensitive. If you're going to buy tablet look for n-trig pen

you have to formate using safe mode.. just prest power button and volume down button at the same time and you will see the safe mode opened. then chose wide data or factory reset.. using the power on and off to enter.. and volume up and down for choose

there are no real issues with the device. i have one and i am very happy. the only thing with it is that it cant make calls. other than that its very nifty. i love my htc and it is a great adition to my family, i would recomend it even to young children cause its very strong and can handle even me. im very hard on my devices, as i am on my shoos. so if you want something that will last then this is the device for you.

Check the prices!!! Yeah. You can't expect it to compete with 2014 devices, but if you S-off and install custom roms, you'll get what you want for daily use. And hey, in custom roms, there are even ICS.

This tablet is junk compared to today's standards- it's discontinued anyway. It's got a really old version of android, and has mediocre specs. In short, I wouldn't recommend buying it. If you're going for stylus, go for the EVGA Tegra Note 7/ HP Slate 7 extreme, or Samsung Galaxy note 8.0 instead.

I purchased the HTC flyer in April 2011 for $500. No pen. They were $100 extra at the time. It goes everywhere with me. Fits perfectly in the side pocket of cargo pants and shorts. I use it constantly, for email, videos, music, writing programs, internet research, making YouTube videos (for hq audio you need a special 3.5 mm to Mic in adaptor chord, see results at astralknight1001. The built in mics are too treblely for most applications. A headset Mic works great for most things, but a real Mic is necessary for professional quality recordings and videos. Special high output car chargers are available for cheap. I had some trouble with my charge connection a year ago, and had to send it in.. well worth it. Goin' on 2 years now, people, even iPad user, still very impressed. WiFi is so widespread now, Target, Walmart, Lowe's, jamba juice, Barnes and noble, stabucks etc ,I can almost always, connect in town and there are so many apps that don't require WiFi that I use it all the time. Ordinary micro USB will charge it, but it will slowly discharge even when hooked up if its on unless you use the HTC.chargers. Be careful to never force charge connections, as with all micro USB devices. I have, for $8, the hdmi to micro USB connections to my tv.. works great.. no problems. (regular micro USB connection slowly discharges, but lasts for a couple hours) GPS works, though it seems like when all the windows are rolled up, it loses the signal, sometimes for too long. No WiFi necessary there. I used to make phone calls.until Fring lost my credit info, Video conferencing and video phone calls still good on Skype... Depends on the day.. So its not really a phone.. but there's no monthly charge either. Unlimited internet and texting for free when WiFi is available..thousands of apps. 5 stars.. no..6!

I use the 3G version mainly as a sat nav. The screen has a higher ppi than the new iPad mini and DLNA built in so you can watch films on the tv without leads. The units are better but still very good.

I purchased a HTC flyer and after about 6 or 7 days started having issues with Signal and internet connectivity. I was however only able to take it Back to the shop 4 days later. I waited for the device to be repaired and when I came to collect the same problems was experienced. The lady in the store called someone that handles the repairs and was informed that the main board had to be replaced after just 10 days on my brand new tablet. I made it clear to the shop attendant that it's not acceptable as it must be factory fault and I do not want something that's been panel beated as I paid for a brand new fully working device. She informed me that there was no more stock in South Africa thus I requested a refund. She phoned the sales director Clyde to get authorization but he didn't want to know anything as he said it was past the 7 days which I feel is unacceptable as it was beyond my control. After having to argue in store over the phone with him for close to an hour he agreed to a refund upon his MDs approval or trying to get me a new unit from an alternative store. I have been left in the dark and its now almost 2 weeks ago. I keep phoning him but he just doesnt pick up my calls. So warning to all if you get the bad apple of HTC you are in for a exspensive ride thus I rather just stay away from them. No wonder in SA they are rated the lowest seller.

Yes, Honeycomb 3.2 is available with the htc speciality button are disable giving disadvantage making the smaller much smaller, however the perfformances are good as some report i get here ... So if you guys wanna use this this big flyer as phone.. get a bluetooth headset with microphone..

I have the 3G flyer, and the latest update, to android 3.2.1, is rubbish. Google apps force close all the time, the controls outside of the screen are disabled and replaced on-screen, which shrinks the screen. And for some reason the start-up screen is upside down. HTC quitely brilliant does not look too good that way. Maybe it is because I have the tablet inlandscape with autorotate off. But is was not a problem before. I really don't like is this way.

I bought the HTC Flyer recently..it's small..easy to carry and hold and it's lag free..can play game like asphalt 6 with no prob..the HTC UI is marvelous compare to the the other 7" tablet like galaxy tab..If u guys like to read manga like me..better get a smaller tablet like this Flyer..coz my experience on a 10"++ tablet..they're just way to big..the keyboard takes about half of the screen space (but I have no prob with that)..don't worry bout the single core processor..it's a small tablet..that's just more than enough processing power..

Hi i now own htc flyer. Its a great device i have a 32 Gig 3G one. It came with no calling feature ( as expected ). A small tweak and i am able to make\ receive calls :) yea you can call people with some tweaks :) And yes it works with calling sims..

I had same problem iPad or Flyer, and...... I am proud and happy owner of Flyer for more than a month. It work smooth and its batery life is gorgeous. Only difference is that screen is smaller and that is maybe only minus in favour of iPad. Comparing the I-Pad2 16GB with the HTC Flyer why would you go for the HTC or why would we go for the I-Pad... I am stuck on this choice and cannot make up my mind.. Have not player with EITHER however looking through the Specs and review has actually made the decision a lot harder that I first thought when confronted with the choice.. I am a flyer user, to activate the phone calls u need to root the device first and modified it (check it on xda developer site, they show step by step) Now my flyer is s-off & can make a phone call through bluetooth headset (i am using Samsung tab WEP495) u cannot make it without the headset because it builds on single line. I also upgrade my flyer to honeycomb but cannot make a phone call (fyi, there is no HC device can make a phone dial, sms only) I am quite satisfied with handset because the gamin experience is awesome (PES 2011) Amazing tablet!!!

my HTC flyer makes normal gsm phone calls. the only thing I am missing is to speak thru the Mic when making calls, I can hear the caller very well but he can't hear me if I chose to activate the speaker mode. this shows that it is not intended to have a mouthpiece (microphone) for use as if one is using an ordinary mobile phone. but when I use a wired headset the calls are without any hitches. I wish HTC can update it so that one can also chose to activate the speaker mode and be able to speak and hear the recipient of his calls. this feature is essentially important when one is alone at home or when many people are communicating in conference calls. one can just keep the tablet on a table and speak from a distance and not being forced to use a wired headset. nevertheless I'm still waiting for the honeycomb update.

I read on some site's post that you can set up Whatsapp on the Flyer by sending the installer as an attachment to your gmail account and then installing it directly from your account as I cannot find whatsapp from the Market place. the tablet is good but it starts to become hot unnecessarily even when it's not being charged. I think it is laptops that have moving hardware parts that should be hot as the moving parts rotate. maybe future updates might rectify this problem. meanwhile I'm still highly waiting for the honeycomb update.

Hardware getting hot easily, especially went you run the internet or play games. Mine only last for 1 month, bought on June 12, 2011 and on July 20, 2011 it went black out, cannot be turning ON. It never dropped, hit / crash before. Let's wait for HTC Care good response. I hope they replace mine with a new one.

Mosr video clips can be played at Galaxy otherthan those on the mobile.facebook version. Youtube is wonderful Battery life realtively good Since the flayer is in the similar range,I would like to know,if most video clips can be played at flyer by default ? It has call function, so you probably were looking at WiFi only version of Flayer. It's a little bit more expensive, since the Flayer WiFi is around 500$, and 3G is around 650$. Ask for 3G Flyer, and it will have all types of connections.

I bought it 3 weeks ago, it looks very nice but the followings are really frustrating: 1) Gingerbread instead of Honeycomb 2) Can't be used as Phone 3) Does not support ARABIC (bought as Middle Eastern Version), some sort of credibility is being compromised, but they promised to provide it through OTA before the end of this month, 9 more days. 4) The battery is really not good!, I used to charge my iPad only once, in Standby mode may be for a week, with no drainage, with the flyer it is really poor performance in term of battery life! HTC, yesterday you called me and I really expressed my honest response regarding your service and accessories, please don't compromise the quality and credibility!

The reason why htc flyer doesn't come with the honeycomb is that when they launched the flyer, the 3.0 honeycomb wasn't ready yet, and that is why samsung have not launched their tab2.

I use HTC flyer for 2 days. It's good for 3g data, SMS & MMS but no calling. In comparison with Samsung G Tap, better screen and audio, slightly faster and the magic pen which is good feature to me. The plastics at top and bottom provide the feeling far from solid finish. All other functions are similar what we can expect fr other android tablet. It's pricey.

If you READ the specs it says mp3 ring tones for alerts. That would be a special tone for mail alert, text alert, alarm clock alert.

It would've been better if it uses a dual core processor. And also i believe this device supports gsm and 3G voice communication. I would preffer the 7" tab rather than holding an 8.9" tab. Comparing with the galaxy tab this has a better processor, RAM, Camera and long standby battery life. But waiting for the price announcement to know its worth or not.

If they do not want GSM voice capabilities, they should make it ~10 inches. To me, a 7 inch tablet is more of a happy medium between a phone and a tablet. Not big enough to be a device i want to have in tandem with my phone.

I used to use my galaxy tab to make calls via the blue tooth headset. This saved me having to carry a tablet and a phone around. will the flyer do the same? if you know the answer p[lease let me know

For sure this one beat my beautiful and amazing Galaxy Tab. cq/ RAM, Processor, OS, UI, Camera, etc. BRAVO HTC Anyway, HTC was known by its Ms. Windows products, why didn't they produce a Windows tablet-phone gadget?

I've watch videos of FLYER and it looks pretty fast for a singlecore. Same speed as dualcore I see on other tablet. I would say they are just names, speed wise are all the same.

Did anyone else notice by looking at the pictures that the capacitive Android keys along the bottom MOVE when you tilt the tab from portrait to landscape??? Don't know why, but DAMN that's cool!! And the form factor of this tab is just beautiful.

if you are not plannin on making a billboard or a poster a size of your door . . this camera would do just fine . . . HTC is smart . . most people view pictures through the actual screen anyways or at the most on a computer . . . with such a great screen resolution . . 2 mega pixel would still look good on that screen

yes the flyer may be nice because we are yet to see how it works.But i will not take it for free let alone pay for. i have desire that rebooth itself every half am second and all attempt to get heip even from the customer service centre never resolve the problem. i cant really trust HTC .

I think people are missing the point of Htc at the moment the whole mobile world has jumped on Dual core which is great but of yet i am still trying to find a purpose apart from it makes you phone use really really fast, cool but dosent mean anything. And so Htc take their phones down to MWC and everyone slags them off and says Htc is finshed. of coures all Htc were doing was refreshing one of the most popular handsets of 2010 whilst giving us something a little new i dont really think they came to blow peoples minds they just wanted you to know that there still there. And oh yes they reveal the Flyer which everyone has missed the point of oh yes onlive games and movies that you can watch why they load oh and lest i forget scribe which makes a point of a tablet in an Android to be honest i think this is just a taster peice of kit from Htc if i was them i would wait and see where this tablet war is going. As all these fancy Android tablets dont really have a decent app market that is scaled for them yet oh and there really isnt a media centre that you can get music and film from in the Android market yet all being built but not up and running it kind of just makes you tablet a nice place to go on facebook and surf the web. As an Htc fan i await later on in the year your dual core phone with onlive on and Htc watch.

First of all, I had an Ipad, which I had to do away with because it was just rubbish, then i got the Samsung Galaxy S - which is really doing it for me. I would love this IF ONLY it was with WP7
