HTC Nexus 9 - User Reviews

  • I found some solutions to performance become better: 1. disable Google play services, chrome, play store and most Google stuff except keyboard (that is really good I couldn't find better keyboard so I deal with its performance) (you can disable personalised suggestions on it so performance won't degrade after some time) 2. don't make screen brightness lower than 50-60 percent because screen will flash in future. 3. disable device disk encryption (you should flash android 6 stock img with "nexus root toolkit" and also choose the kernel img in it that don't have device disk encryption enabled) 4. because you disabled Google stuff you should use Firefox, ever note, and ... instead of Google crap. (Firefox become usable thanks to Mozilla improvements on post quantom versions.) (use fennec f-droid because it has lower bloat than original Firefox and also use its armv7 version, not armv8 version because the former have better performance) 5. use noozixoide labs apps for better audio quality (I use their "rewire E" app with "warm" chooses in its settings.) 6. use greenify and put all your apps that won't need to always run in it and also create "hibernate and lock" shortcut in your home screen so you easily force close bad apps that make performance bad. 7. use nova launcher as you disabled Google stuff. 8. disable YouTube and use its web version because it also is bad for device overall performance and also you can't login with it because you disabled play services. 9. disable lock screen completely as it sometimes have lags and won't let you use the device. I hope this helps most of you :) in the end please hope good wishes for me as I spend very much hours of my best times to find these solutions :)

  • I still own this tablet and even though it runs on Nougat, it still runs really well. I used it mainly for college for 2 years to help with studies but now I just use it for YT and searching things that I may want. Also, I use it to pay off stuff at work using NFC which I think is cool to have in a tablet, it seems daft when you go somewhere to pay for something but there isn't anything wrong with that. The 6,700 mah battery is good as it gets me 1.5 days use but if it had something bigger, it would be better. Who ever has this tablet still. Please keep it. I had Nexus 7 (2013) and there is not much difference in performance. Also I had Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 LTE 8.0 and that had a 4000 mah battery but that was GARBAGE

  • Hi. The 7.9"- 8.9" tablet sizes have a soft spot in my heart. Shame Android tablets are almost extinct now. But I would like to ask: 1. Have all the supposed bugs and issues (boot loop. Bluetooth, etc.) been fixed via software updates? 2. Are the speakers as good if not better than an iPad Mini 4? 3. And what is the latest Android software version for the Nexus 9? 4. Stupid question: Do you think it is still a good idea to own the Nexus 9 this 2018?

  • It goes on and on and on. What a small machine! I doubt Ill ever get anything as good, reliabe, quick, smooth or powerful without spending a packet. So sad you're now being decommissioned.

  • Android 7.1.1 is [soon-to-be] out of date.

  • After 4 years its still kickin, besides Nvidia shield, second greatest tab i have been using,Great for gaming,it hits over 100k in antutu with only 2 cpu core's and of course with its powerfull gpu

  • To any owners of Nexus 9 may i ask: 1. What is the latest/current Android version of the tablet? 2. Would you say the speakers are adequately loud and clear and not sounding muffled (as most reviews say)? 3. I have heard of issues such as poor battery life (standby time, video playback, etc.), issues with bluetooth, wifi and bootloop? Have all these issues been quashed? 4. Is this still worthy Android tablet? or an iPad mini 4 a better choice now with performance, battery life, speakers & all?

  • I forgot to mention this: Most of problem of lags in this device is Google play services. If you don't need sync disable Google play services and store then you can see device become far better however most of us can't because at least we need chrome sync :/ Also if device didn't restart with default os chrome version, I didn't update Google play services Also default Google play services in marshmallow is far better than updates but my n9 was restart with default chrome and I forced to update to find a better version of chrome.

  • It has good things and bad things with it. 1. Very unstable. even some versions of chrome when running several tabs cause device to restart. Or sometimes device become very lagy without any reason. 2. Good support of heavy games because of powerful GPU. 3. Low RAM, very annoying. Results, NO multi tasking!!! 4. Low storage space. 5. Rather good screen in compare with other IPSs however sometimes screen flashs/shutters frequently when you set a low brightness in settings. 6. rather good speakers however not very good for music because of low bass but have good quality overall. 7. Break problem in updates. My device breaked in a ota update and i sideloaded with a guide in xda and bringed back it after 3 mounths of break. (Thanks that guy for that guide) 8. very very unstable in android 7, i flashed android 6 again because 7 was terrible, the lags was far more than 6. 9. Terrible battery life in android lollipop but it became better in marshmallow however because of power hungry cpu it is not good as other tablets with lower battery. 10. CPU or something else isn't good with full device encryption, so in default stock rom, the lags and ... is very much and also you can't use full storage space of it because device will frequently restart and some of your files will wipe automatically after it. However i used disabled encryption boot img when flashing android 6 and it is better than before. (Thanks that guy for creating that img) 11. Very heat however i getted used to it. 12. Not bad camera (at least better than my low end/middle range phone)

  • Yes, agree It is very unstable when you insert storage drives with otg. I suggest never anyone connect a device to it with otg :|

  • If you bought 32GB LTE version, the sim card slot is in up and left right of tablet. The sim card plate can ejected with a needle.

  • Bought it in 2014 and still using it. No problems whatsoever. Very stable platform.

  • If you don't want terrible battery life don't use Android. Go to XDA-Developers and search Installing Ubuntu Linux on your Nexus 9. I posted a guide to install Ubuntu 16.04 and provided a boot.img and instructions to flash the rootfs on the device. I have found that battery life is much better but you lose the ability to play games, and other things but, hardware acceleration and GPU drivers are all functional with the L4T 21.6 drivers for the TK1 SoC. My next mod will be removing and installing the 4GB memory chip upgrade there is a thread on XDA for that too

  • The Nexus 9 HTC was a great purchase, no third party apps, for about 6 months. Then the battery started to constantly over heat, slow to charge. And best of all HTC customer support which told me to try another factory reset, amd if that didn't work I should purchase another. $500 mistake thanks HTC

  • Had mine about 20 months not got any grumbles at all very pleased the best one I have had so far I think the battery is a little tired now but can live with that so don't be put off getting one

  • This is my exact comment about this product. Thanks for posting. ITs a piece of junk.

  • hello I have already bought a nexus 9 tablet and I was wondering how long do I need to charge it for the first time?

  • No sim card slot available.

  • there is no SD slot But you can plug an Android / USB Dual flash drive to move things around (I recommend Sandisk)

  • nexus 9 or nvidia k1?

  • where and how do one insert a sim card?

  • The nexus 9 is quite capable of running almost all of the games on the Google Play Store

  • I didn't know how to insert a Sim in this HTC Nexus 9 tablet. Can anyone tell me... Since a hole is there in 7version but here he?

  • hi all I want to ask about how high quality games run on it?

  • can any one help me actually i am trying to install my jio app on nexus 9 can not install as it is showing the device is not compatible

  • Yes i have got the 7.1.1 update, and it runs like , good old nexus, and an 11 to Google

  • bricked my nexus 9 in June-16 after a failed over the air update. got to sideload nougat to un-brick it.

  • yes! connected a mouse to my nexus9..I LOVE IT!! ought to install ez file explorer (or similar app) to read the otg flashdrive

  • Yes it gets the update

  • Does this support OTG?

  • Yes mine updated about a month ago

  • Does this device get nougat update?

  • Andromeda

  • I loved for less than two years used for everthing, even had Android 7.0 beta and fine months, I unplugged from my external drive, while downloading a movie, and get any broken hearted because I loved this thing, nobody fix can't to HTC or GOOGLE, to many links. No money all, I paid for what, disappointment. [email protected], if you could let the big know little guys can't find help for a machine that did make mark that last five. Now machine and buy because lasted almost two years.

  • I loved for less than two years used for everthing, even had Android 7.0 beta and fine months, I unplugged from my external drive, while downloading a movie, and get any broken hearted because I loved this thing, nobody fix can't to HTC or GOOGLE, to many links. • Does it support fast charge?does anyone know or used the Samsung fast charger on it or any other 5v 2.4 or 3A?

  • nice

  • nice

  • Google Nexus devices have never had SD card support. Get an otg cable. My family knows I'm a Nexus junkie and got me the Nexus 9 to replace my aging Nexus 7 (2012) which is the device that pried me from the clutches if Apple. I loved that device. I love this one even more. It's snappy. I'm running Nougat on it. I have other smaller gadgets so I mainly use this one for content consumption. The I'm camera ain't great but I have a phone to do the pictures. I use it for reading and watching movies. Great tablet. No complaints.

  • I suppose that prioritizing is a indisputable key for modest trade. frequently, there are so lots of possessions to be in attendance at to that overcome can place in and then not something get entire.

  • Thanks for your review.

  • I bought this tab three months ago. Im experiencing a charging issue. It seams like the issues resides on battery, since i tried fixing charging port two times. Battery failure in 2 months i think is a critical issue. Worst case is i dont have any place to buy battery. Parts are very rare to find, even in ebay.

  • Hi I just purchased a nexus 9 today. I'm trying to install few games on it like fifa or gta. .non of the games r working on it

  • Very snappy, runs without lag any games you throw at it, but it gets freaking hot, i mean toooo hot to handle, that's why i returned it.

  • I don't get how they didn't add a micro SD slot to this. Nice specs regardless but should of made it with more storage to compensate. if it was 64gb I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

  • I previously owned a Nexus 7 and also own a Nexus 10. I purchased the Nexus 9 figuring it was an upgrade to the older models. It was not. I wasted my money purchasing the Nexus 9 because my Nexus 10 works better. A few years ago I purchased an IP Mini. I was always an Android person but the android products lag where the IPads do not. What I do like about the Android is that you can download a file manager and actually manage your files.

  • 32 LTE works great, no problems whatsoever

  • I need what's app in Nexus 9

  • Works good! Speakers are perfect and the design is great. I own this tablet for about a year and I haven't found any problems.

  • Its buggered, i updated and its bricked

  • Turned on my nexus 9 going thru start up with colored balls etc will not start up what is wrong?

  • We don't.

  • I have it almost a year and it works perfectly

  • What you were experience was a known problem. Google was exchanging those defective early builds because they were under warranty. You should've contacted Google. I didn't end up gettingone because of the initial complaints but pretty much every device has its production issues

  • I've had my Nexus 9 for almost a year. I paid full asking price (399 USD) for it. Honestly, it's been a huge disappointment. Build quality is subpar. It flexes and creaks. There's light bleed. For a 400 dollar tablet, this is pretty weak. Performance is laggy. Having Chrome open certainly makes it worse. I've never seen a Nexus device stutter this much. Random reboots happen way too often for a tablet that you'd expect to be of a high caliber. A few months ago, I started seeing issues where the screen would white out and there would be a buzzing noise. This would happen when the battery got down to 50% or lower. Apparently this is a common issue. You can reboot the tablet, but as time has gone by, the issue has become more and more frequent. Otherwise, the tablet does what you would expect it to do. You can read on it, you can watch videos, browse the web, etc. Android's apps are still not particularly well suited to large tablet form factors, and Google has really dropped the ball on leading the charge with that (Have you seen their Inbox app? Just a scaled up phone app on a tablet). I've generally really liked the Nexus devices. I owned a Nexus 4, 5 and 7 and really enjoyed all those devices. I'm disappointed how fall short this product falls of the quality bar set by those products. If you can get this tablet for 150 USD or less, it might be worth it, but otherwise, there are much better tablets out there

  • How do we insert a sim in this tablet?

  • I have a cable that lets me plug my usb sticks into the charging port on my phone and tablet. I can see it as a extra hdd and use that for extra storage.

  • Would get this if it had a card slot Price difference from 16 to 32gig is a rort (extra AUD $110) And for my use even 32gig still isn't enough.

  • I have a Nexus 10 and reciently purchased a Nexus 9 figuring it would be an upgrade but I was wrong. My Nexus 10 is faster than the 9. I am very dissapointed with the 9. It was a waste of money. They should have given it 3 gigs of ram.

  • because the HTC Nexus 9 has better screen size, better camera almos same resolution, and off course BETTER BATTERY LIFE!!!

  • Why must you buy the nexus 9 when you can buy the Nvidia shield k1?Theyboth have nvidia tegra k1 and the same bous front firing speakers

  • dear anon,it can be the problem of hard ic or pf ic (pf=power frequency and this % is more). it should be tested by a professional repair man.a quick and short heating could fix the ic in its place and some times getting a heater on mentioned ic can fix the problem. if not it can be software problem and with flashing a new rom it can be ok. caution: for sure the repair have to do with professional repair man and don't heating a lot to hard ic.cpu and hard ic damaged with high temp. good luck

  • It's horrid....the tablet I mean....when charge drops to 50 % it suddenly makes.a loud noise.... Screen goes white and has to be forcibly switched off...and no one knows what the problem is

  • Thank you Khye for your help, you helped me decide whether to buy this device or not. I thought maybe the front facing speakers might double as an earpiece since I've seen some Motorola phones have this feature, but I guess not for the nexus 9 then.

  • Unfortunately no, LTE version has no earpiece also doesn't have call feature. You can only send SMS only the most.

  • Thank you for your reply, I actually made a cardboard cutout of the actual dimensions of the nexus 9 and tried to fit that into my front jeans pockets and it actually fit lol. Now I need to know if the LTE version of the nexus 9 has an earpiece for phone calls since I don't want to carry around a Bluetooth headset or headphones with Mic all day outside just for phone calls. Do you know if the LTE version of the nexus 9 has an earpiece for phone calls?

  • yeah use a card window and then put over it a phone and a camera and laptop all togheter and try to put it in ur pocket good luck.

  • When it will be stock in India ?

  • Can anybody fit this nexus 9 into front pants pockets like jeans or anything like that to use as a phone? I currently use the 8 inch samsung galaxy tab s2 8.0 as my daily driver phone(I can fit it into my front jeans pockets easily). So I was just wondering if I can go even bigger and get a 9 inch phone? Thank you guys for your help.

  • Yes

  • It is upgradable to Android 6.0???

  • 32 GB is also in Wi-Fi.

  • wrong.it's for 16 g that 11g is free

  • 11 GB

  • Android Marshmallow was released to all supported Nexus device include Nexus 9.

  • About 25GB of usable space.

  • guys who knows in nexsus 9 32 gig how many gigs are free for us to use pls answer this thanks

  • is that true thing or ur just beating around they bush

  • Download Google voice, Skype, or any of the available voice over IP (VOIP) apps that are available through the play store.

  • Yes I'm running marshmallow on mine.

  • Android 6.0 will be officially released on May the 28 2016

  • Has this tablet recieved Android Marshmallow?Thank you.

  • How can you make voice call from tablet where it doesn't have a phone dialler?

  • You are correct, Tab S 8.4 shows very small words than a smaller mobile, but video is good.

  • The device is now offered over the air upgrade to Android 6.0, which I found doubles the battery life while the device is in "sleep mode" (i.e. not being used).

  • I would go for the iPad Air 2. My niece wanted an iPad but because it was too expensive and we couldn't afford it, we opted for the Nexus 9. If you are from UK, Argos offers the Nexus 9 for £179.99 (that's £119.00) but offer ends 6 October 2015. I would personally have gone for the iPad Air 2 if I could afford it because iOS is well optimised for the iPad and better battery life. Android on tablets is just a scaled up of the mobile version. However, the Nexus 9 is an awesome tablet. Receive the updates immediately. Great dual front facing speakers and performs smoothly. The battery life and build could have been better.

  • this mobil is very conesesh bupring internet concation very bold and italions but very diffrent hand set like this cont be completley like this but this reat is very high but alwase is right so maney pepal onley use

  • Superb device

  • Wich one would you chosse between Samsung tab S, Ipad air 2, Sony experia Z4, Sony experia Z3 compact or this nexus?

  • No calling feature but SMS is available for LTE model only. SD card slot is not available in all Nexus model.

  • Is calling option available?? any model having external card slot?

  • It dosent matter if its only dual core. Its a 64 bit processor K1 tegra cpu, similar to the ones used in high end computing systems. It can handle most of intensive tasks and is pretty good at multitasking, the only thing it falls short of is RAM,in my opinion 2GB does not do justice to its beefy CPU and GPU.

  • Which beats Quad and Octacore.

  • the processor is only dual core....!!

  • Yes Nexus 9 indeed has a single nano sim slot on the upper left side. Its a great device nonetheless with extremely capable hardware backed up with smooth software build.soon to receive Android Marshmellow update...Have. Fun :)

  • Will they have sim slot? Please reply to this as fast you can

  • Do you read before posting ??

  • Do you read before posting?

  • The spec's say the resolution as 1536 x 2048 pixels, but the standard is to mention the resolution as widthxheight, please follow the standards

  • Both are different Operating System. You are actually choosing between 2 different platforms. I can't say Nexus 9 or iPad Air 2 is better. If you like Android full of customisation, go for Nexus 9.

  • guys is nexus better than iPad air 2

  • Maybe this is due to battery calibration error. I think you need to first factory reset the Nexus 9. If problem is still persist, you will need to send for warranty.

  • I have nexus 9 32GB LTE...after updating to android 5.1 tab is shutdown when battery is less then 20% or 15 %...just showing warring of low battery and shutdown and not start until put on charge... any solution ?

  • Yap, it's a disappointment for a late Android User for not having SD Card slot. But 32GB ain't less unless you watch movies and download media much. The good point is that nexus 9 is USB OTG compatible so you can transfer data and files conveniently.

  • It will get warm when gaming and chrome browsing heavily with loads lots of media on the camera part where the Nvidia processor placed. But it cools down quite fast even with cover on so don't worry too much as it's normal.

  • with LTE I think 32gb not enough.

  • I buy the nexus tab . buts its too heat reflect because of thin

  • Yes, it do have light bleed but less and not quite visible and it is common to all model. Please don't worry and buy it without hesitation.

  • want to know does the lte version too suffer from lightbleed problem, if yes is it too much planning to buy soon

  • Can you explain what kind of display problems. All I see is some light leaking but not so serious issue already and not quite affecting your user experience.

  • nexus 9 has some display problems

  • I chose Nexus 9 over Tab 8.4 S because of the screen resolution. Nexus is much better for reading. Tab S might be better for watching videos

  • hey nick... i was also confused b/t nexus 9 and tab s 8.4... i went with the tab s 8.4.. bcz of spcs...also that nexus 9 comes with 32gb model at max... it cost around 45k... where 16gb model tab s 8.4... cost around 36k... (in my country)... to expand storage i purchased 128gb ultra micro sd card for 10k.. so it cost me around 46k.... a thousand more... but far more amount of storage than nexus 9

  • Okay

  • 2GB RAM of Nexus 9 made me to opt Tab S

  • I am in the same position as you I also own the iPad mini 1, I am debating on buying the nexus 9 or the samsung tablet s 8.4, and I think I'm going with the nexus 9 because I like the software and the samsung tablet only comes in 16gb..

  • nexus 9 (nvidia tegra k1 64-bit 2-core 2.3ghz) only second to apple A8X (64-bit 3-core 1.5Ghz) in every benchmarks

  • Update OS: Nexus devices are first to receive any Android firmware update. Screen: Nexus 9 has HD display at 281 PPI, slightly higher than IPad Air 2. Handling: Nexus 9 can hold with one hand with matte surface designed for comfortable and prevent slip even though the weight is seems heavier. Performance: Nexus 9 has Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset with 64bit which perform and handle all tasks without any delay and lagginess. (Sometimes happen due to app less optimised in Nvidia chipset and Android lollipop yet)

  • I am planning to buy a tablet. I own iPad mini 1 (2 yr. old) and its pathetic now, speed is damn slow (specially while browsing). I am not iOS fan nor Android. But need a tablet with good performance. Should I go for google Nexus 9? My preferences are: -Updates OS (do not want 'long wait' for OS) -Device should have good display (high resolution) -Easy to hold in one hand (i.e. for reading, i.e. light weight) -Performance should be the best (no lag or delay if I install some common required application like twitter, skype, linkedIn, gmail... etc) Please suggest.

  • I'm going on a limb here and say most apps don't even fully utilize 1 core similar to most desktop programs the average user runs.

  • one thing i didn't get ,why a dual core CPU ,while it could be low clocked octa core or high clocked a quad core !

  • well I really appreciated this tab. But the thing that really disappointed me about this tab is cameras are not impressive. I expected 8 mp primary and 5 mp secondary. The resolution is great so is the tab. To be honest, I am a little worried about the speed. Only 2.3 GHz? I expected 1.7 octa core. If u guys would have manage to make these changes you would have received fair comments from not only me but from other people too

  • more on this item here

  • I agree , now without steve jobs ,apple like lose his identity . But we cannot blame that . Because tim cook is not steve jobs .

  • Having a dual core isn't a problem. This tablet has the fastest process in any tablet.

  • With the latest Google I/O Keynote, unlimited Google Photo backup and doubled the free backup space in Google Drive. Do you think 16GB is a limiting factor? Also the OTA feature, never worried.

  • Never say Never, right now IOS stills better than Android, but I don't think that last forever. Jobs was the perfectionist, not Apple.

  • More than 1000 satisfied customers chose and are still using our essay writing help services and we never let them down. Check it

  • is 16gb storage a limiting factor to performance?

  • If only Apple could compete. No one cares if Google and HTC supposedly were inspired by Apple's iPad's, Apple still has no competition and never will.

  • This tablet was inspired by Apple.

  • It's obvious that you know nothing. (nada, zilch, etc.)

  • New Nexus tab need to be by LG with Qualcomm, hope to be 12.5"inches 2K, with this basic specs: 1.Display.- 12.5"inches 2K - IPS Quantum - CGG NBT 2.Memory.- DDR4 3.Chipset.- Snapdragon 820

  • 16gb n no ext card slot..not worth buying..

  • How's the secondary camera? 1.6MP sounds like shit! @shumez

  • Yes, Nexus 9 use Denver, Shield use Keppler, its differenct CPU, denver already 64-bit

  • Strange then, that the Nexus 9 beats the shield in both passmark and ice storm CPU/GPU benchmarks. Not trying to start an argument but, rather, I'm researching my next tablet.

  • Its obvious many of you have none (nada, zero, zilch...) idea what 64bit processing means... Since You don't know till now - you will never know it. Stay stuck in your wooden universe. 2GB ram on 64bit is sometimes even slower then 32bit... BUT For sure is NOT FASTER!!! 64bit is good in higher memory arrays.... I Bet that your computer OS was upgraded to 64bit before it ever got over 4GB of ram, huh?

  • it's a dual-core processor, but it is 64-bit.. you don't have to worry about speed, it'll be lightning fast!

  • Whatsapp isn't available in Google play market for tablets you can manualy download whatsapp from and install it and use a NEW number to register it.. remember that you can have only one whatsapp activated per number, If you try to re-register again with your tablet, the old whatsapp won't work anymore.

  • Does htc google nexus 9 supports whatsapp

  • Why it has only dual core processor???

  • comfortable! satisfied! Best!

  • WoW, you've said it right!

  • You use a phone to make phone calls

  • antutu benchmark 57000 points - just wow

  • Erm..... So basically u wan a phone that's bigger than your head ? Or is Nexus9 still small compared to your head ? :)

  • The lack of ability to make cellphone calls, and the lack of dual-sim support, makes this tablet useless. When it comes to gaming, Nexus 9 is nothing compared to Nvidia Shield tablet.

  • nice ,.,.,.,.

  • No sir, 4G only has a data channel for now, but soon it will have a voice channel

  • wrong! LTE has a data channel and a 4g voice channel along side the same spectrum....where did u get this wrong information!?

  • I bought a Nexus 9 on sale from Office Depot for $329 and used it for a couple of weeks, but returned it. Overall, I would give it a 7/10, marked down for the following: - light bleed at corners - thicker than iPad 2 and Sony Xperia Compact Tab - too heavy for a premium 9" tab - price too high at $399 Otherwise, I loved Lollipop, and the speed of the processor. If this had been build like the Sony Xperia Compact Tab, it would have been perfect. Too bad HTC/Google decided to go for a mid-range industrial design.

  • Err... didn't you realise that most tablets with LTE capability, can only access cellular data networks, and NOT the cellphone voice networks? Sound like you need a smartphone not a tablet?

  • I have a N9 and I agree that the Air 2 has better specs. Pro N9:- - Android 5 owns iOS8. Multi user, true multi tasking. - Better stereo sound than Air 2's sound. - Cheaper than Air 2. - OTG is a killer feature Pro Air 2:- - Premium feel build quality. - Better screen than N9. - Better camera, but only if you're picky. - Significantly more tablet ready Apps than N9. If I could run Android 5 on an Air 2, I'd be in heaven.

  • Maybe I have a newer batch to the early adopters, but apart from Apps that still don't play nice with Lollipop, I'm genuinely impressed with the Nexus 9. Very nippy, very smooth and the only little teeny weeny gripe is the screen which was the tiniest light bleed which can be seen when the screen is very black, and the pixel density which is less than the 300+ we've come to expect from devices these days. Everything is buttery smooth, NO LAG WHATSOEVER, WiFi is solid, stereo speakers are gorgeous, and it charges up pretty quick for a tablet of this size. Just like with N7 and N10, early adopters got some lemons, and that's just too bad. My N9 rocks!

  • Google should let HTC make their Nexus phones too

  • Because Air 2 arguably has better specs. That, or Apple is just greedy...

  • Hey guy! tablets are not meant for calling

  • Do you seriously believe that having a 9" screen tablet is the best way to take your phone calls and that is what they should be made for? Straight up dumb feature, to say the least. Also, looking up a product before just buying into a sales pitch from someone who's getting commission from every sale is a pretty good thing to do these days. Just sayin'.

  • Don't u see that i before pad It means some extra staff with some extra cost..

  • That is a stupid question...

  • dude wtf.. its tablet u cant do a "calls" with it only modem

  • Got brand new Nexus 9 LTE yesterday after long waiting... Needed to use it both as phone (with BT headset) and tablet, but NOW I REALIZED I WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE AND GET PHONE CALLS FROM MY SIM CARD. Asked HTC and they told me it's a strategic (!?) choice as NEXUS 9 is just a tablet, not a phone... But other brands' tablets DEFINITELY CAN BE USED AS PHONES, even cheap ones with LTE support! I'm totally upset and I'm going to give this useless device back straight away. Useless waiting, lost my trust in Google and HTC.

  • why Ipad air 2 cost more than nexus 9 even it had less features than nexus 9

  • its not only support OTG nexus even works great with gamepads (via otg or bluetooth)

  • It DOES support USB OTG out of the box!

  • nexus 9 32 gb support a sim

  • htc nexus 32gb support a sim

  • yer we can

  • s810 is Qualcomm's first 64 bit chip, the X1 will be Nvidia's second 64 bit chip, so you can't compare the two. The s810 should be compared to the K1 which it so obviously outclasses.

  • Say Whaaaaat Lost to Ipad Air in Performance ?? really what really i mean for real

  • Can make 2g voice call in nexus 9 like a normal mobile phones , because apple ipad cellular not having voice call option.

  • Pointless to wait. It won't be available worldwide. It available in just few countries. Lost to iPad Air 2 miserably in both - performance and availability.

  • And you obviously doesn't take in account that Adreno 430 is still not on the market. Just announced. Along side with new Tegra X1.

  • superb awaiting

  • Also who needs a powerful gpu on a mobile device, please buy a console, laptop or a desktop if you want really high gaming. The snapdragon810 will offer the first wi-fi ad (successor to wi-fi ac), new bluetooth standard known as IEEE 802.15 WPAN which will be much faster and enhanced wilocity wireless charging support which will allow the phone to charge as long as it is near the wireless charger, so you'll be able to walk around the room within a certain distance and be free to use your phone. Qualcomm just rule!

  • Google it, you can also find it on the wikipedia website.

  • link?

  • Oh dear, you've purchased a tablet with a second rate gpu, it's confirmed that the Adreno 430 is now the most powerful GPU, beats the Tegra K1 by 23 GFLOPS, what a shame.

  • Still i'm bit worried about multitasking bcs 2gb will not enough soon

  • why not LCD3 like M8?

  • none of high-end android would lag on any game, specially Nexus 9 with 64bit denver cores !

  • I was thinking this tablet similar to nVidia's shield tablet but not at all. This is dual core version, shield has 4 core soc and better gpu. Which makes this tablet extreme expensive... Shield is 8" but more than 130 eur cheaper than this one.

  • There is also 32 gb wifi version.

  • does it lag while playing heavy games more than 1GB size? i love androids but i hate lag

  • looks like no one here is informed ever heard of an wireless drive turns any tablet apple or android unto a 1 or 2 tb monster storage device there are several available and the Kingston and Seagate I have are great devices love the Seagate 5 devices can tune in

  • Yes, buy an incredibly useless tablet that costs 3 times the price of the Nexus 9 so you can have a little more storage you won't even use for anything productive anyway even if the Nexus 9 has USB OTG support. Lol brilliant

  • whatsapp will support on any android device If u buy wifi only version then no call support If u buy LTE version then yes

  • guys dont complain about storage 32GB is enouph and if it isnt usb otg is supported fastest android tablet out there just go for it

  • Why only 32GB. They should have 64GB or 128 Variants. I will rather buy ipad mini 2 with higher capacity.

  • low resolution? it has a freaking higher ppi than the ipad retina.

  • does it support whats app and does it lag? hows battery life? is it a calling tab?

  • What abt calling option... It is there or not in this.?

  • Indonesia when????

  • Using USB drive is inconvenient, most of people will always prefer the internal micro SD card solution.

  • fm radio??

  • You guys moan about the lack of sd card slot forget that the new androids support external usb flash drives. All you need is a $1 cable and you can connect any flash drive you want.

  • in the next model or whenever otg is possible and when expandable memory is allowed. let me know.

  • true that's why i hate nexus series

  • No card slot omg...Out of 16gb only 8gb or less would be availavle for user.

  • ppi is very less, i.e poor resolution

  • Dude, I bet you anything OTG will work with the Nexus 9. It's a basic feature now which works with almost all new devices. You can rest assured about it. Check this out:

  • what about card slot. these companies are sucking my mind. they have to develop there mind because 16 gb is not enough for anyone. comm'on this is awful man....

  • It get heat like HTC ONE+???

  • has anyone tried otg with the nexus 9?

  • is there a need to install a software for otg to work? because otg is not listed as supported

  • Yes it support OTG

  • please can someone tell me if the nexus 9 supports otg? it is urgent

  • hey man! just calm down and have a look at benchmarks! It's on the Top in any category! Graphic,CPU,etc.

  • Dude look at the benchmarks it has almost 60k in antutu, its a 64-bit cpu,no need for quad core, and ppi is low cause its a 8.9 inch display, and pther phones have 5 inch display with 1080p display and that is why it has 400+ppi,go on google and learn what means ppi LOL .:P

  • Can someone write me back whether we can make phone/voice calls from HTC Nexus 9

  • Even Jetstream is better and more fun

  • I do not understand why they make all tablets with low PPI and low CPU speed AND low RAM compared to smart phones? smart phones are quadcore 2.3/2.5 and 400+ ppi with 3 gig of ram however tablets are always dualcore, 200-300 ppi and 1/2gig of ram? is there a reason for this or can I be angry? lol thanks.

  • Hey Von, Chromecast is natively supported on any Lollipop device. Since this is in fact a Lollipop device so, yes, it does have Chromecast.

  • NO MHL?? NO Chromecast or Miracast??? People It's Nowadays Standard!! Take alook at the specs of Xperia Z2 & Z3!! Even an inexpensive smartphone like Starmobile Up Mini (almost 80 US dollars)has it's own Miracast!!

  • Great

  • I don't think the design is bad...

  • nexus 9 - bad build quality with a high-end price

  • OK or not for game??

  • Quad core is a gimmick. Tablets are not optimized for it yet. nVidia knows. I prefer nVidia's powerful, optimized dual core over a snapdragon quad core any day. The Tegra chip in the Nexus 9 is a beast.

  • it is a 64 bit just like on ipad ,so dual core is enough, u wont experience any laggg

  • OK so its 2014 soon to be 2015 this is the latest nexus tablet and yet they decided to use a dual core cpu? I don't get it. It hs no memory card slot so a person will fill it quick and will have to start choosing what files to delete. No HDMI out or mhl for a tablet at this price is a harrowing propersiton.

  • I love it Best ever

  • Great tablet but I wont buy it because of: 16gigs for wify only, 32 gigs max memory and no expantion SD slot. I think it will decrease number of people who consider the tablet as next purchase. even my htc max phablet has 64 gigs (internal+sd) and it is almost full. Sad

  • i was going to buy one till i seen it only has 32gb storage wich is kinda of a joke, even more so with no sd card slot so i would fill this tablet up in an hour with just part of my music collection let alone hd tv and moves at 1080p, not that future proof but still an amazing tablet compared to many outer ones out there you might want to check out the specs of the nvidia shied if you haven't already,

  • Best amonth

  • Is there a 32GB Wi-Fi version of the Nexus 9?

  • HTC Nexus 9 I like it . I love this is HTC Nexus 9

  • Did you do head-to-head comparison or, just you're talking what you see on your browser?

  • Nokia N1 is better than HTC Nexus 9 always in all mannee.ie.features,specs,design,price tag.

  • Just bear with using USB OTG, connect it to external storages.

  • K1 Denver is 64-bit 2-core. K1 in the Shield is 32-bit 4-core. It's a few months older but not in any way worse, even better in some areas. Don't get these two mixed up. They have almost nothing in common except the K1 name.

  • It has only 2 cores but it's processor is the beast. No lag while you play MORDERN COMBAT 5.

  • Sadly it doesn't supports expandable storage (Micro SD cards).

  • nba 2k15 its not supported in nexus 9..... for adrino only....and others hd games.... samsung is the best for me... im sorry to other...

  • There are 2 cores, not 5 lights. 2 cores used the right way trumps the bulk of the average 4 core devices any day. This device is very noticeably faster than anything else out there. If you don't believe me, fire up google earth on it and your fastest device and compare. I wish it had the pogo charging from the nexus 10. But then again, it doesn't consume battery as quickly as the nexus 10. As of yet no custom recovery, so no custom ROMS. 64bit has made this process more of a new learning curve. But I'm sure it won't be long.

  • 4 Cores And not 2 The only thing making it not perfect is the RAM

  • No quad core, HTC spec page says "64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver @ 2.3GHz"... http:// www . htc . com /us/tablets/nexus-9/

  • It has two cores ..

  • You made a mistake in reporting the CPU !!! It has four cores, not two. Fix it please !!!

  • Will Nexus 9 work with 3G and Reliance 4G Network in India

  • I think it's not for a long relation ship, 2GB RAM is not enough for dual 2.3 GHz plus no option for 64 GB even no card slot .. what really brings it down that it's just a viewer for documents not editor...

  • best in market i think i so cool but i like more to have sense tablet and i don,t know buy this or white for htc sense tablet because htc make it super beauty and super faster than any devise and also sense is awesome

  • no,but i had n7 which supported mt 1tb ehdd so i think n9 should support it too..

  • OTG is USB On The Go, you can connect a thumbdrive to the tablet and use it as an external HDD.

  • the fastest gadget in the world.it makes me crazy to buy it.i worked with my friend nexus 9 for about one hour and swear it's faster than all other gadget I've ever seen or had.it's even faster than one M8.all games and apps ran faster than other gadgets.go for it with no doubt.htc nexus 9 is the fast&furious&quiet&beautiful.the only objection is no sd card support and nothing else.thanks htc and google

  • really..but gsmarena doesnt explained about it.have u tested? if it suppoets then it is best tablet in market?pls reply yo...thank u

  • oppss sorry cant waste my money on that ipad.

  • not only pen drive..it can support ehdd

  • Yes it has USB OTG support

  • I can confirm that it does support USB OTG

  • Get iPad 64,,gb

  • does it support otg cable for pen drives? also I want to know that whether it will get 64GB model or not.,.... thanks

  • HTC Nexus 9 With a soft grip back and subtle curves, the Nexus 9 tablet strike a slim profile that's light and comfortable for work or play. He Nexus 9 is the first tablet to run Android Lollipop 5.0, which should receive timely updates.

  • I want to know that it has otg or no

  • Lol as if u r going download all apps play store

  • What the f***? only 32 gb? This is supposed to be a tablet, not a phone. And it doesn't even support memory card? What a fail. I was ready to buy this device, until I found out of the little space :(

  • What will be BF price? I'm torn between N9 and Note 10.1 (2014).

  • Yeah.Manufacturers should concentrate on GPU performance rather than increasing no of cores that would comsume more battery. Hope to see more phones in future with this processor.Fingers crossed.

  • You are right. A powerful dual-core chip is better than a weaker quad-core chip. Most people still don't understand this. They think that more cores make the chip better.

  • And this processor is the proof that we dont need octa-core processors to work android smoothley.Good luck nexus9

  • OTG flash drive. Problem solved. You're welcome.

  • What do you mean? Devices are available. People have looked at them.

  • Lol no this is a 64 bit .. Like apple iPads ,

  • do u know...that this beast scored 60,000 on antutu benchmark which is highest possible score till now That Dual-core 2.3 GHz Denver is more powerful than u think

  • how would you know the exact or right number of core?

  • this proceccor too small,,only dual core,,maybe it will be smart if use a octa core or quad core, right?

  • this proceccor too small,,only dual core,,maybe it will be smart if use a octa core or quad core, right?

  • Want it for two reasons: 1. It's HTC, 2. It's Nexus!

  • Yes, to turn on devices that are turned off, like TVs, AVRs and such, pretty much like a universal remote. That way you can put away those remotes, so don't throw around are-you-joking-esque comments when there are actual uses for it.

  • Name doesn't matter over specs But why they skipped to 9 instead of 8? or they planned to release 8 later?

  • Do you even know why they are called the 9 and 6? Its because of thier screen sizes, if they made "mini" versions they wouldnt be the same 6 and 8.9 inches, they would be smaller.

  • forget Ipad3 N9 vs N6 Benchamrk Manhattan: N9 22fps , N6 12fps T-Rex: N9 45fps , N6 26fps N9 resolution is 2048 x 1536 N6 resolution is 2560 x 1440(why??) I'm thinking of a nexus 9 mini or nexus 6 mini with 1080p res...will be a beast for gamers

  • Most disappointing is no 64GB version. Cloud storage can never replace local storage memory.

  • Infrared? In 2014? Seriously?

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus?

  • Not going to sell my lg g pro waiting for another tablet from google disappointed because it does not have infrared...

  • Can't wait

  • Cant wait to sell my ipad 3 and get this instead !

  • T-Rex: Google Nexus 9 2586 Frames (46.2 Fps) Apple iPad 3 260 Frames (4.7 Fps) Its 10 times faster than my ipad3

  • You can say the same thing for Apple and MS. Apple and Microsoft don't design phones with an SD card slot because to motivate people to use iCloud and Skydrive. They are business people. They think about their profit first, then customers. Don't think about it much.

  • Nexus devices don't have a sd slot because google wants people to store their stuff on their great cloud services

  • No SD card and Apple screen ratio ratio.... no thank you Samsung tab S is for me

  • For HTC built device this is actually really good. And the fact its got a flash on the camera is just brilliant.

  • If it started from 32GB and all the way up to 128GB the tablet will had a success. But 16GB? The apps are getting bigger and bigger and they put 16GB? And there's no 64GB. Next

  • You must check out the very first nexus which is Nexus One made by HTC. It has SD card slot.

  • NO Nexus device has a SD Card slot. Ever! the logic seems to be this: the user will put a crappy sdcard into the high end nexus device, and than start complaining about how crap is the device. (people are people) My coworker has an galaxy S5, and bought a class 4 SD Card, an complains that MKV movies lag alot, he does not believe me when I tell him that the SD Card is to blame (his logic: It's a high end device, it should work with any card). Besides, 13 GB of storage is quite enough. Good Luck, I hope I helped.

  • No SD slot? Huge mistake. No way I am buying it.

  • No Micro SD slot... Why?

  • Only thing how need to contained nexus 9 is IGZO screen

  • Very good... but shame of this 16/32Gb! It should be at least 64/128Gb or more!!!

  • Nexus 10 is better. In terms of Pixels per £/$. Its gonna get Lollipop any time now. Shame you can't get it from Google any more. Amazon still has it. If i was gonna buy a tablet now, i'd still get Nexus 10.

  • It should more memory space option. I-Pad air-2 has option of upto 128 GB.

  • Why would U Envy to what they called BoomSound? It's just soft-tweak. If U prefer to use earphone or such, just find USB DAC; else you can always find cheap chinese qiu-qiu bluetooth speaker for very reasonable price and make U'r life easier. My Fiio USB DAC can be drove by cheaper Xiaomi phones flawlessly; and I believe the sound outperform BoomSound my much.

  • always wanted a htc device but can't afford it, envy my friend's htc one m7 boomsound, and I've seen games on m8, it is even better with bigger screen and even better sound. I will get my own boomsound nexus 9 once the sand color is ready for preorder. Time to ditch my Samsung galaxy 10.1 tablet for cheap.

  • i think its agood tab. but im wondered why they make it without card solt !! bad idea

  • i was certain to buy this but non expandable memory became hindrance. i don't think so any one will buy this without expansion slot

  • I think Samsung tab s performance is more customisable and contain some cool futures compared to this

  • Nexus 5, 7, 10 have USB OTG support ! But as of today there is nothing official for Nexus 9 ...

  • yeah it's dual core but the best chipset of all androids, it's Nvidia Kepler x64, and better to know that this beast has the score so close to macbook pro 2012!!! the Nexus 9 scored 1,903 in Geekbench, which is rather close to the 1,925 scored by the 2012 Mac Pro, a machine that was made to handle professional-level media editing tasks and more. source:

  • so what it's a dual-core....it is a tablet, not a laptop !...And for God's sake...it's the first x64 device that will run Android ! :D

  • I like to know whether we can use usb storage with nexus media importer in nexus 9 like other nexus devices.

  • are the +100 euro/usd over the tablet shield worth the only differences are the screen size and the kind of k1 processor, sd slot and HDMI out... what do you think about that?

  • that's because it's using a different kind of processor, that thing is a beast

  • Great tablet, most likely the best of 2014 but with a couple small potencial problems for the users. 1. resolution 1536 x 2048 pixels its too much for a portable device, specially for games, but to be honest Tegra K1 denver can handle it performance wise, that chip its a freaking beast, battery WILL SUFFER while gaming at those resolutions tough.. 2. 4:3(!) format Some users can live with that.. i dont! 8' screen 16:10 1920x1200 its pretty much perfect for everything. 3. price 400 bucks for a 16gb version? with no MicroSD? The MicroSD its no surprise tough.. its a nexus, never has one.. but 400? 16gb? No thanks.

  • dual core 2.7ghz 64bits is all you need for this tablet

  • Really, and since when do Nexus devices support OTG disks? They support devices like keyboard and mouse but not storage. Google dont want you to store anything locally but use their lame clouds so they make more money and can find out more about you to target their shameless ads.

  • What's the worst senario? HTC is good

  • only dual core .must have 2.7 ghz octa core processor.

  • Does your z ultra register as a tablet it a phablet in the Google play store? I want to know if splashtop gamepad is compatible with the z ultra. Thanks

  • Of course, Qualcomm will release the s810 chip in the next year and HTC M9, Galaxy S6 and LG G4 will come with the latest s810 chip. That's a different point. Definitely s810 will be far better than the s801 and s805. You have forgotten that Nividia also has to announce the Maxwell architecture Tegra M1 in the next year. It would be a beast as well. So completion would be too competitive in the next year.

  • Also who wants to be seen with a tablet with 4:3 aspect ratio, looks so stupid, and no phone/messaging capabilities means you're going to have to carry around 2 devices. Most of us want an all in one device.

  • You completely forget that Qualcomm still have to release their beast of a 64-bit chip early next year. The s810 should defeat the tegra K1 quite easily, plus it has so many features and it too has directx11.2 together with tessellation. The Nexus 9 will be crippled with no SD Card. I have the beautiful 6.4" Sony Z Ultra 16gb + 128gb sd card. Cloud storage is useless and it's a complete laugh when people say they are going to walk around with an external hard drive, will look so stupid. 1TB and 2TB SD Cards aren't going to be too far away, and hopefully we will have 256gb SD Cards next year.

  • Same specs heh? The Nexus 9 has the beast Tegra K1 chip compared to the outdated Snapdragon 800 or Exynos 5420. When comes to the GPU, the Kepler DX1 it demolishes the Adreno 330 and Mali-T628. Not only GPU, but also in CPU power. Both s800 and Exynos 5420 are outdated ARMv7 architecture based chips, whereas the Tegra K1 is based on the ARMv8 architecture. There is no way that the Galaxy Tab 8 comes close to the Nexus 9 in specs and performance. Maybe Galaxy Tab 8 could have a better display than the Nexus 9 as it's an AMOLED panel. The only competitor for the Nexus 9 is ipad Air 2.

  • I like the Nexus 9. I have a 8" already from Samsung... The TAB S, Perform very well so I won't change it for a Nexus 9 ! Specs are similar so...

  • Hmm..not trying to promote anything here but just to give my honest feedback. Used Mipad for few weeks and I am hooked to it. The specs simply marvelous. Not boasting here, Tablets lover must try. The price and your expectation will be mismatched. Low price but high end tablet.Xiaomi is mean business. Too bad if you can't get it at your country.

  • In the end got an Nvidia Shield LTE. Virtually same GPU, more cores, STYLUS, SD card, better looking, good support. Best for the money - with the accessories.

  • HTC's product???? Nexus lineup is a Google's product. Of course it has the HTC logo on back. But HTC is just Google's manufacturer of the Nexus 9. Motorola manufactures the Nexus 6 for Google and HTC manufactures the Nexus 9.

  • Don't be excited man. It is HTC product. Ready to witness the worst scenario. All the best.

  • Love it! Love it! Love it! Ready to buy and enjoy it(32G). Still so very exciting!!

  • Will love to buy the NON-LTE version but with 32GB space... really no need to have an SD card if I am carrying my 1TB external hard disk with loads of movies... Great specs though...

  • Still no expandable memory slot. Why should I rely on internet wherever I go? No thanks , I'll buy the tab S. Much better screen resolution , pixel density, superb black/contrast ratio and slot for memory. Not to mention the 8 core cpu that will give you a better multitask performance. K1 might be superior in term of a single task and graphic performance , but who cares? I don't want a tablet to play games anyway. Wait to see the poor performing LCD IPS screen in black scenes and dark environment. The edge bleeding will be there for sure.

  • The beuty of android

  • can Nexus 9 be used as a phone?

  • The Snapdragon 810 SoC has to come in 2015, it is not announced yet. The Tegra K1 SoC blows the current generation s805 out of the water. The s810 would be much better than the s805 as it will base on the ARMv8 architecture. The Maxwell architecture Tegra M1 has to announce in the next year. I hope it would be a game changer as the Tegra K1. Anyway, I guess the new A8X will blow the every new generation chip currently in the market.

  • I plan to buy the LTE version as a replacement of my phone, add a Sandisk Ultra Dual Drive 64 GB On-The-Go Pendrive as SD card replacement and get the Nexus keyboard to make the ultimate phone + gaming device + mini laptop + enjoy stock Android :)

  • I think I'll just buy a Note 10.1 with SD slot and call it a day!

  • Another compromise, no micro sd slot and maximum of only 32gig storage? What year is now 2008? Common google, why do you always have to make compromises?

  • The snapdragon 810 will offer wifi ad, low power DDR4 ram, LTE-A 300mbps, very powerful adreno 430 gpu 90% more powerful than adreno 330, which will include directx11.2 and tessellation, Bluetooth will upgraded to 4.1, it will also be more power efficient as it will be 20nm, better equipped for photography as the cpu will be a lot faster. This will be the king of all chips, htc will regret including the useless tegra k1 chip inside their weird 4:3 tablet.

  • very lovely nice job htc and google i think its best android tablet

  • The only thing that this thing has is 64bit dual core instead of 32 bit quad core featured on nvidia shield LTE and benchmark shows performance of 4 core 32 bit is very marginally slightly better compare to the 2 core 64 bit denver on 4.4 platform so overall nothing new offered here except wider screen

  • It's really strange that the nexus 6 has a 64 GB version and this doesn't. It will probably be a reason for a lot of people to skip.

  • Of course, lack of SD card and 64 GB version are big issues for some buyers. Overall, the Nexus 9 is a great tab with the great Tegra K1 chip. IMO, this would be the best Android tab of this year.

  • Good, balanced review thanks. Good points too.

  • $399?? No all-metal casing? No SD slot? No thanks...PASS!!

  • Sorry apple wasn't able to file proprietary license on the shape and form of ipad so others manufacturers won't copy.

  • It has, don't you worry

  • They did put front speaker.

  • i hope they put front speaker

  • The nvidia processor used in this tablet is entirely different from the tegra 3 or tegra 4 generation tablets. Tegra K1 has a desktop class graphics chip, and 64-bit arm processors. If you take a look at any benchmarks of K1 vs other tablets, you'll see the difference. Take a look at Around 15% faster than snapdragon 805 and  25% faster than snapdragon 800.

  • Buy Nexus 9 = "OK Google, takes my money" :(

  • This thing or iPad Mini 2? Having a dilemma...

  • No SD card slot, no sale.

  • Sorry to ruin your rounded rectangle philosophy

  • I think it is gonna be superhero for students because of screen aspect ratio. Apple does the same but personally i really don't like Apple products and Nexus 9 will be the first world-wide brand android tablet with this 4:3 aspect ratio. And 4:3 screen ratio is really superhero for studying with powerpoint slides, ideal for taking notes etc. And if you want expandible memory so badly, and if you gonna use it mostly indoor, i suggest you to buy a wifi-drive. Yes, most of people here thinks it is a wrong decision to a nexus tablet have 4:3 and no-sdcard slot, and even tegra chipset is not what they want, but i am think this devices real user group is out of this places(tech forums etc.). They using ipads and doing their works on ipads, not only playing games with it. And like this. Thank you very much for reading..

  • HTC Nexus 9 has Tegra k1 dual core (64x)

  • And you icat

  • Tegra again!

  • It's dual, There's 2 versions of the Tegra K1. The Sheild Tablet is using the Quad-core version. The Nexus 8 is using the dual core version.

  • single sim

  • No memory card slot? Seriously?

  • Its Quad.

  • is the calling system available??????????????

  • The single most important point which makes nexus 9 different from ipad's is its Htc BoomSound Speaker,I am in love with them :)

  • Dual-sim or tri-sim?

  • Go to play store.

  • I honestly mistook it for an ipad mini at first glance >_> ..copy cats >_>

  • Are there any variants in nexus 9? For example iPad Air 2 has cellular and non-cellular models and nexus 9 appears to have cellular models only. If that is the case, I would go for Nexus 9 because it is going to be about 20% cheaper than the wifi model of iPad.

  • Useless information , what is the point of mentioning 4G LTE , we want to know which of the 4g bands it supports.

  • 16 Gb is 28900 32 Gb is 44900 It is available for pre order in google playstore

  • Agreed. The industry needs to stop with the artificial limits on storage. Especially 8GB (Apple).

  • I have to agree. After 4+ years in the cellular business, I've watched Google abandon every Nexus phone with multiple upgrade issues when the next model comes out. Yes, they continue to release updates for past phones, but the upgrades introduce problems with each successive release. It's the weirdest thing, and you can reliably count on it. My suggestion is to use aftermarket ROMs, like Cyanogenmod. You'll find far better support there than from the official sources.

  • My Next device.

  • it starts at 29k for 16GB Wi-Fi Variant

  • Which type of sim does NEXUS 9 have ? Full size or Micro sim or Nano sim ?????? and EXPECTED PRICE IN INDIA ?

  • I know that it's a nexus but if they can't sort problems of old customers with their own flagship devices then heck with their nexus series best of luck with ur money and nexus 9 and tegra I.e nvidia is also responsible for supporting updates so now on I would prefer QUALCOMM SNAPDRAGON processors ova CRAP NVIDIA processors.they just don't give shit to old customers

  • I carry around a 17 inches gaming laptop all day. I dont mind 300g as long as its rigid and strong against bumps. Besides, it feels a lot better on hand. Own a Galaxy TAB3 as well and dont mind the weight at all.

  • You can tell the difference between MILLIGRAMS? impressive. This is super light.

  • It's not just slightly bigger than the Galaxy Tab 8.4. You should not only take into account the screen size. The Nexus 9 has a screen ratio of 4:3, so the 8.9" screen has much bigger viewing area than an 8.4" widescreen.

  • it's a nexus, google's ideea, it will always have updates. it's not a htc product!!! it's only made by htc.

  • Way too heavy! - 425 grams versus only slightly smaller screen on Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at 295 grams. Why so heavy? New iPad Air with bigger screen - 9.7 is only a few grams heavier than the Nexus 9, so compared to the new iPad, you have a smaller screen but almost identical weight. My recommendation is the Tab S mentioned above - best tablet available in my opinion.

  • Way too heavy! - 425 grams versus only slightly smaller screen on Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at 295 grams. Why so heavy?

  • Pathetic amount of storage, even apple offers 64 and 128, this 'storage stingyness' trend really needs to stop. 5 years ago we had phones already with standard 8 gb. 5 YEARS ago. This is ridiculous.

  • no micro sd card slot is disappointing

  • attention: there is no wireless charging included as on Nexus 6 or any older Nexus device

  • it's the best nexus tablet and completely defeats the ipad air 2.

  • only 2gb of ram please be wrong?!?!

  • HTC u shouldnt forget ur old customers and u cant just raise ur hands up by saying that nvidia isn't supporting you guys if it was so then how could u guys make nexus 9 with a tegraa processor you need tooo do something for Htc one x as well as Htc one x+ u should force them to support for hox+ & hox Htc just forgets their flagship devices then what is nexus range still stuck on 4.2.2 sense 5 need an update soon about it or else I recommend people that don't buy these nvidia tegra powered devices cause Htc is always ready with reasons

  • No SD card slot, no sale! I have a Nexus 7 with an OTG cable and adapter...trust me, you'd never use it! Not to mention the stupid Nexus app you have to use to get read only access to it! I don't see how they justify the cost when you consider the Galaxy 8.4" tablets with better screens and SD card slots...disappointing!

  • only 32gb??? lol!!

  • No you can't, it doesn't support USB OTG. It is useless for the simple fact that you can't even put one single movie at the native resolution on it.

  • You can use a OTG USB cable with a pendrive to expand the storage.

  • 60fps or more with this tegra k1 and new android 5.0,

  • This tablet is great with Tegra K1, new android 5.0, but only thing how need contained is IGZO or LTPS screen, but ok hope new Sharp do it new 14"inches tablet with this basic specs: 1.DIsplay.- 14"inches QHD+ - IGZO - CGG 3 - 300~PPI 2.Memory.- 4 GB RAM 3.Chipset.- Tegra K1 (64-bit) or new faster 64-bit chip 4.OS.- android 5.0 or new android 64-bit And that let it be 600-700 euro

  • This version is the processor nvidia made ever and it's the highest performance in the market

  • I thought Denver based predecessors were only dual cores, & what is the use of 2GB RAM for 64bit architecture, RAM was suppose to be at least 4GB.

  • It's the latest Android release which follows the 4.4 KitKat. It's gonna be released via OTA in a couple of days at least for Nexus 4+ users.

  • Yes it is hard to understand. A lot of people don't like cloud. The sales would be so much higher if they would only add something as simple as an sd card slot. It's the only thing that stops me getting nexus devices.

  • A proper stylus, duh! Been using a 6mm "IT accessory" on my XOOM. While better than your finger, not particularly suitable for fine details. Well, I guess the search continues. They blew it again in more than one way. I considered stepping down an inch for a marvel of a tab, but it's not that great for the money (no storage and all) and they made it f-ugly too. I may still change my mind though :)

  • Hmmm pls which is 5.0 version lollipop

  • It's funny how people always find fault with products. You could pick up a stylus anywhere that sells I.T. accessories.

  • Also if I may add, the aspect ratio is awful, should have been either 16:10 or 16:9.

  • The tegra chips are only good for gaming, but the snapdragon chips are true multi taskers, that's why this tablet will be a fail plus no phone and messaging capabilities makes this even less of an atraction, Sony and Samsung are adding phone and messaging to their tablets so why not htc.

  • Is it denver or cortex a15? -_-

  • I am looking to get one Tab. Now this with 64bit could be star performer. Had it had the SD card drive, Radio (working while listening is always good - not recorded songs again and again) and HDMI & USB3.0 port ! May I expect next version with these add-ons? Shall the price be reasonable like within $4-500 for 32 GB Memory?

  • Hi, Consider this surfplat, the 20-inch size'? would be too great and süper.

  • You should ask this your question to apple first.

  • perfection is a matter of perception

  • your feeble attempt at logic was a drastic downer

  • I can accept no sd card because it's tallways been so. But 32 gb for a 64 bit processor and a 4k display means that in one year from now you can cooking eggs whit him. Too exepensive!

  • Why aspect Ratio is 4:3? wouldve been the perfect tablet if they maintained at least 16:10 aspect ratio...

  • It has a slimport for that function

  • i think it will hit all tablets

  • Finally, I can get rid of my Samsung forsaken (note sm-p601) for good.#thankyougoogle+htc

  • Add micro HDMI slot or USB MHL function.

  • UGly. :(

  • Resourceful my lower back side. This isn't a galaxy alpha with 6.7mm thickness, it's a full blown 9" tablet with 7.9mm thickness. The Z3 has one so should every phone and tablet have one. Google might want to make it all cloud and shit, but when Android loses popularity because of this they''ll look back and think it was stupid.

  • no sdcard 32gb storage, maybe 28/29 usable 2gb ram 500$/eur I won't buy that even if it has support until Android 9.2.2

  • Very amazing tablet from htc

  • I wanted a stylus too. I'm an amateur artist and I'm looking for a tablet for digital drawing on the go. This tablet is awesome but lacks the digitizer. But I'm expecting some good styluses for android in CES 2015. I was going to buy an iPad Air, but they are nowhere useful like Android these days IMO. I hate Wacom that they only make the best Bluetooth Stylus for iPad's... But a capacitive fine tip stylus works for me.

  • nice htc loking pichar qwlaty,,,,,,,

  • This is my dream tab.. Loveeeee it.. With HTC rest assured it will be a looker n performer.. That chipset with the display and 64bit architecture, the cam .. Gosh who cares bout sd cardwhen u have cloud storage these days or spend a lil extra n get more storage.. This is zillion times better thn my iPad which has become lik this second grade hanging machine.. Waitinggg..

  • Its live ! Check google.com/nexus/9 android 5.0 is lollipop

  • No. They don't do micro sd slots becausw they take up space that isn't resourceful in the device.

  • Want a stylus. Badly. Would be such a waste otherwise. However, with the Flyer being their only attempt... highly unlikely. Still NEEDS a stylus.

  • If u say that , than what about apple that has soo far stick with 1gb of ram and 16 gigs of storage ? but the only difference was a beefy 64bit architechure , why would someone need 3-4gb ram when the system can open apps more quickly than resuming them lol

  • While I too am waiting to see the release of the Nexus 9 I can't help but wonder why this is considered such a leap forward. The RAM is the same, the storage is the same, and the screen is a bit larger. The only ''OMG!!'' factor here is the 64-bit CPU which I grant you should be worth seeing how much it improves performance. I would like to have seen them jump to 3 or 4 GB RAM and the storage options should be 32 or 64GB since there is no card slot. The price point of the Nexus 7 2013 32GB model at $270 (often found for about $200) was reasonable and something a person could do every year or two. With the higher end version of the Nexus 9 being guessed at around $400 to $500 I can't justify upgrading.

  • I was very excited about the Nexus 9 until I found out that there will be on SD card slot. What a bummer. What is wrong with these people. Amazon will not put a card slot on the Fire tablets because they want to sell you cloud storage so maybe Nexus is up to the same crap.

  • maybe u should in to the nexus line more. if did then u would know that the phones are nexus 5s, 7" tablets are nexus 7 and bigger tablets are nexus 9". like the Samsung nexus 9" last year

  • Nexus is 4 developers, the Nexus 9 need a 64bits CPU. And all tests say k1 is twice faster than the 805. Life the present.

  • ... And why is the nVidia Tegra useless? How is your application impacted by the selection of this chip vs. that? It is indeed strange - Google's religious fanatism and blindness to reality (when it comes to ommitting an external, removable data storage. & Lastly - price! I saw guesses at $400+. One can get a better tablet from very respectable OEM for $250. So that makes no sense. As much as lack of sense as charging $150 for the LTE chip.

  • This is useless without a card slot, no wife as, only 2gb ram, useless tegra chip should have been s805 instead, weird resolution should have been 2560 * 1440, 7.9" screen instead of 8.9" then it would have been fine to buy.

  • it will have NFC belive me

  • wtf with you guys ? NEXUS DEVICES DO NOT HAVE SD CARD ! difficult to understand ? no ?

  • You mean the Nexus 9 will not have ac WiFi? That's surely what most people use a tablet or phone on, Wifi. AC is the fastest Wifi. Am I missing something?

  • good specifications But Should have been a lil less costly

  • Waiting a card slot and 3GB of RAM... Waterproof...

  • I think much better if contained IGZO screen, believe that the desire will be greater to buy it, but let me be even more expensive 150 $ that is thought to be ;)

  • $400 for 32gb

  • No sd-card slot, no buy :(

  • i think the ram should be more than 2gb....

  • How much should it cost?

  • hw can it be november now is sept

  • its announced release in november 2014

  • value???????????????????????????/

  • ram 2gb or 4gb?

  • 14" are you reading t he same article I am? How about 8.9".

  • dafuq with no sdhc slot... HTC lower it's c/p value....

  • It must be supporting MHL and these days wireless HD streaming is possible right.

  • 14inch tablet! I recollect those very old demos of windows laptops that turn to be tablets. At 14inch isnt it better to get an ultra portable like macbook air?

  • No card slot? WOW, this is ridiculous!

  • Card slot No LOL

  • HTC Nexus 9 tab need contained this specs: 1.Display.- 9"inch QHD - IGZO LED-backlit - CGG 3 2.Memory.- 4 GB RAM 3.Chipset.- Tegra K1 (64-bit) that's rumor promise Why "IGZO LED-backlit" - beacuse new ipad air 2 and new ipad mini 3 contained IGZO screen, why not and this nexus contained same display screen

  • New Dell XPS 18 inches FHD I3 its 500

  • Apple also same stubborn

  • I would have chosen the HTC Nexus 9 over the nVidia Shield Tablet since it has a way better display.

  • Google's Phones and Tablets never have SD card slots and for the foreseeable future likely never will.

  • 1536x2048. 96 pixels are reserved by navigation bar. And why does it say quad-core Cortex A15, when it's supposed to be ARMv8 dual-core Denver to utilize Android L 64-bit support? Why also 2GBm when supposed to have 4GB for same reason.

  • Where is the sdcard???

  • Do it approximately same look tablet Sharp Merilis 15.6 inches

  • Why don't do it same or better of this samsung, nokia, htc, hp, dell.....

  • CPU specs are wrong here Android L includes 64 bit support so itmakes sense it will launch with a 64 bit CPU. Correct CPU specs into these Dual core 64 bit Denver CPU

  • AGAIN, Google stubbornly refuse to incl a SD slot for more memory! They're trying to force data to the cloud for the world to see! Don't need it, don't want it!

  • buy tv my friend

  • think you just need to buy an ultra portable laptop dude...

  • HTC & Google need to do new thinner minimaly 14 inch tablet or more for rivals, how contain this specs : 1.Display.- 14-16 inch QHD - IGZO LED-Backlit - CGG 2.Memory.- 4 GB RAM 3.Chipset.- Tegra K1 4.Camera.- 2 MP 1080p@60fps front and back 5.OS.- android os

  • It will come down to two things. Build Quality and SD card. Terga Shield will have SD card, the Nexus will have a better build.

  • the tablet shield is now available. which one would you choose considering they both have 2GB ram, tegra K1, both gonna have android L,... both have a 16GB+wifi and a 32GB+wifi+LTE: shield 300usd/euro (16GB) or 400usd/euro (32GB); htc nexus 400 (16GB) and 500(32GB) don't forget shield has a memory card slot:up to 128GB (missing in the htc) and mini HDMI port (i imagine slimport in htc). htc has 8MP camera (5MP shield) (i prefer to use a normal digital camera) i'd personally pick the 16GB shield version: MUCH cheaper, expandable memory, for internet there's everywhere wifi or i can connect to the phone's hotspot. and you, what'd you choose?

  • nice spec's but a non removable battery. ! Many USA carriers won't ship cell phones or batteries usps, ups or dhl any longer. so for service; warranty you have to be near a shop. Travellers are out of luck. I"M in Saudi or Asia and can't even ship a replacement battery/unit from USA How many times must I remove my battery for a locked up Android display. Great tablet but does not work for me. ! 1080p recording but you can't get it out without hdmi mini port out !

  • aw it's a little big and heavy. I wish it would be around 8 inches so the weight can come down a bit. But we'll see. Can't wait!

  • Hi, I can only confirm that next android release (L) will support USB DAC which basically inherit USB OTG functionality. Fact can be different.

  • Will nexus 9 have usb otg? Cos my nexus7 didnt have it

  • If it is going to be a 64 bit chip set than you don't need 3-4 GB RAM , just because 64-but architecture uses RAM better that 32-bit , for example see the iPad Air

  • Its price range is given about 30~35 k in india . And according to price range its specs are best. Some peoples don't thinks about price and comment shits . They must understand this if its specs will be high as sky then price will also be in sky.

  • I like much if new nexus to be 12.1 inch JDI screen and with this specs: 1.Display.- 12.1 inch 2K - LTPS TFT - 360 PPI 2.Memory.- 3-4 GB RAM 3.Chipset.- Tegra K1

  • why 2gb ram that is suck, new generation need to be 3-4 GB RAM, please nexus do it that for fans

  • Beats Audio is now part of Apple.

  • I've had a Nexus 7 for about a year and I don't have a need for all this memory you grave. Ive had phones where I added memory cards and I never really needed it (paying $100 for the memory cards). But the reason why you don't even need more than 16 GB is everything is on a Cloud these days. That 100 GB of music can be accessed at any time without having it "on-board".

  • The HTC phones have always looked better than the Sammys. How anyone can say a plastic back looks better than the back of either M7 or M8 phones is beyond me.

  • hi htc ...! so good and so genuine you are! but why no more "beats audio". is there any hope for the company to get back that 25%?

  • Thanks :) I'm so silly!

  • Oops. I must have misread the spec sheet; the tablet does come with a 3.5mm jack.

  • I'm surprised that this tablet doesn't come with a headphone port.

  • Yah. That what I was thinking. Coming from 1GB for the Gen 1 Nexus 7 to 2 GB for the Gen 2 Nexus 7, you would think HTC would up the ante and release the tablet would at least 3 GB.

  • No. The Nexus 9 will be released in the Q4 2014 (between October 1 to December 31).

  • finally there is a tablet i can buy ... i love htc and this is great feature + htc quality +aluminum +beauty = htc and nexus

  • with 400 price point,no thanks

  • This is going to be released today?

  • This is a good competitor for the Ipad Mini.

  • nice

  • ya as you people are expecting it would be way more costlier than the other nexus tablets, that we have seen from Asus, and it would have a better built structure and quality compared to the previous ones and a very good screen and also HTC NExus 9 screen is larger than that of the previous Asus Nexus 7 its about 1.9 inches larrger than that. and leaving the price factor this tablet HTC Nexus 9 would be amazing and also bet all the other tablets in the market once it launches. and as we also know that nexus is always better than many other android devices in the market. -Rishi

  • ac wi-fi???

  • No card slot, Google need to get over their hang up with sd cards...

  • If this tablet was priced in the 300$ price mark, their would be huge sales for google

  • That is the notification light just like nexus 5.

  • google will make this at a affordable price. looks like a ipad on droid.

  • Looks nice!

  • HTC? This is going to be expensive...

  • You are right. On my Toshiba Excite Pro, the Tegra 4 really gets hot, i am sure that uses a lot of energy. Now I do not know how Tegra K1 uses energy, but let's hope HTC will build a good battery.

  • Looks like an iPad... Lets see how fast battery life died by K1. Beside the K1, Tab S 10.5 is way better. I'll past.

  • If the specs are real, this is going to be my next tablet.

  • If price should be around $320 I'll buy it but looks pricy!

  • This is going to be soooo expensive...

  • google is not one of those stupid companies, its not gonna happen, if it does i blow google first and suiside !

  • Only 2 gigs of ram?

  • Every time HTC gadget is over price... they like to act like apple to overprice all the product but tis would make their sales worst... BTW i like HTC... i just dun like to see them make such suicide act... Compare with samsung etc... their phone looks cheap but the spec is good as well as performance... n their price is ok... thats make them famous...

  • What about a new generation of Nexus 10?

  • Oh look an iPad.... By HTC??????

  • I would compare this tab to Asus Google nexus 7. but this is better than nexus 7. the design, the processor, the camera however the price is kind of expensive than nexus 7. the design looks like from apple, a bit cheaper than apple.

  • I liked tab with Tegra K1, but need more inches 12 or 14 inches, with IGZO beacuse LTPS no way for tabs

  • What about a new generation of Nexus 10?

  • The new Nexus, this time from HTC. Not bad at all.
