HTC P3600 - User Reviews

  • Does htc can supported hwatsapp?

  • Does htc can supported hwatsapp?

  • This "first" smartphone was awesome... He do everthing that smartphones of today but slowly. I love this phone. The touch screen is very good, very practical. The only problem is that it broke down with 4 years old (freezes constantly even hard reseting)...

  • The only way to change Language in a Windows mobile phone is change to another Rom, All roms only have one Language so you have to chose before flash

  • How to chance language

  • yeah this right, my HTC continue workinh and it´s a great mobile

  • Now it's 8 years old and retired, but it sits in its original box and ready to work again anytime. The very first smartphone with full specs (gps, hsdpa, bt, ir). Extremly reliable device, just like the touch diamond. I wish htc manufacture this quality again.

  • the best PDA, that HTC ever produced, regarding built quality. 5 ys old and still in very good shape and in everyday use. Anno flashed with the GPS ROM, later tuned with quick GPS. Needed only a new battery and a new stylus. The form is outdated, but works perfectly. I really love it! Now it is in one family with a Diamond and a Desire Z. With SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5 the old skool wm5 looks up to date. Never gonna sell it...

I own a Diamond too, but I prefer the Trinity. I had 8 pda's and about 30 different cell phones, but I've never seen such a reliable unit. The best built phone to date...

  • ronmaru, can u give me directions on how to upgrade to WM 6.5?

  • serial is missing under the battery

  • 249 Euros is a good price for this phone?

  • I have a p3600 for 2 years now. After the first couple of months the paint on the body started to peel off..when I contacted HTC ..they asked me to send the set to Germany and was a known defect and would replace..obviously it was expensive to sent it there ..I had spent about $629 for the handset. Also, EVERY time I try to make a call from a call history list, the first time the screen shows 'Dialing..' and the comes back to the 'Last Call' message. The call does not get completed. I always have to press 'Talk' agian to make the call and this time its successful. I think HTC need to do some more testing to fix these flaws ...

  • I need the serial no of p3600 can you help me

  • I need the serial # of this phone sms me on +923008559986

  • at last, i upgrade my trinity to wm 65 boy, nice improvement, more efficient memory usage, still a few glitch but i can live with it, i think its refreshing after owning this phone for 2 years

  • IMPO, Best WM device to buy! Yes its only 400MHz proc, but matched with QVGA screen makes excellent performance. Dedicated graphic (ATI Imageon) chip with no multimedia problems as with Kaiser or Touch Cruise. Any newer HTC device cannot match its build quality (only HTC Kaiser perhaps). Has everything you need in therms of conectivity (BT, Infrared, Wifi, HSDPA). Have it for 1 year now and it still is rock solid. Only issues were related to paint peeling of cover of first manufactured devices, but were resolved in later builds (personal experience, changed cover and no more peel offs). Excellent sound and speaker, nice screen, lots of hardware buttons, scroll wheel, D-pad (can you imagine gaming of emulator games without it on newer devices??), battery of nice 1500mAH! Cmon manufacturers - please make future devices better - stop thinking just how to decrease manufacturing costs!

  • Search for cleartemp... works a treat

  • by the time you read this, you should be able to find where the virtual keyboard is, I hope... bottom half of the screen

  • depends on your carrier. sometimes your carrier send you an sms containing all the configuration details and you only need to save it. but sometimes you have to do it manually. but it's not too dificult.

  • the memory is about 128 MB. But it's divided for Windows Mobile, programs and stockage ( i dont know the word in english). if you wanna free up some space, you can delete the programs, the email attachemens, the sms and the contacts.

  • I've own the phone since 2007. it was 450 euros without tax at that time. The phone is great. My only problem is the battery. It does not last long. Of course after two years of use, the battery needed to be replaced. The original battery now only lasts about less than a day. With the nature of my work, I make outgoing calls about 10 hours/month, excluding SMS and 3G use. I bought three batteries from ebay about 3 dollars each. The memory is shared for SMS/MMS and Phonebook. After my SMS box contains about 6000 messages (Inbox and Sent Box), I need to delete them periodically. This happens lets say, one every 6 months. The plastic part of the housing is easily scratch. I bought an original housing from ebay but till this day I am unable to replace it by myself. I think I'll have someone replace it.

  • no

  • Guys pls do u have an info on how to format internal memory on this phone, just my phone was full n couldn't find anything to delete..thanks

  • Hi I have HTC P3600 running WinMo 5. can show me how to upgrade to say WinMo 6.1 or 6.5. thanks

  • Hi I have HTC P3600 running WinMo 5. can show me how to upgrade to say WinMo 6.1 or 6.5. thanks

  • already owned this phone 1 half years. no problems at all, battery is still decent (phone can lives until 2 days). Upgradeable up to Windows Mobile 6.5 (unofficial of course). complete connection (from Infra red till WI-fi and also GPS). No built in keypad can be solved using virtual keypad. I like it very much :) Note: if you owned the black one, please be careful because the paint is not as good as the white one

  • why HTCP3600 IN Dubai ded not come with english maniua? is it posibal to gat english manual, if possibal you can post me on my Pobox 831 dubai UAE.

  • Yes, this has happened to my HTC black also. I think this is a draw back.

  • This is one of the best mobile from HTC. It has all the requirement of what a pocket PC can perform.

  • It depends what kind of a girl are you, if you want a high tech device that is cheaper from all other devices out there then this one is worth seeing..but if you want a fancy looking small mobile phone then I do not recommend it, good luck !

  • This PPC is definetly one of the best! It has it all! its been a few days since i've got it and i just can't drop it out of my hands! i'm always doing something! I have NO bad critics so far, everything is working fine... the only thing i dont like is that it doesn't have a flash for the camera and when i installed a few music programs when i press the standby buton the music stops! :( but the PPC is GREAT! 9/10

I personaly prefer HTC cos of the operating system it uses !! if ur used to the windows operating system then u'll find using this phone a breeze !!i've tried all the connectivity options available on this phone !! and it just works great !!The touch screen experience is too good !!! and for the price i'd surely say IT"S TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY ( USD 300)...not just a brand name like nokia n95, which i feel is just a big marketing gimick !!!This is what i feel !!!

  • Can anyone help me how to download free gps for p3600

  • I got the HTC P3600 3 weeks ago. I had previously SE P910i & Nokia E61. P3600 is amazing, very fast, and I did not have a single crash so far. The HTC support is number one! I had some configuration problem and they emailed me the full set up. This is a real business mobile. Nokia E90, N95 & E61i or even SE P990i can not compete at all in terms of speed, performance, connectivity & business applications with HTC P3600. Just upload the Spb Mobile Shell, then you will see a very user friendly interface/skin.

  • Hi again I have solved the "problem" with my GPS receiver and learned something. Even if you don't have a GPS icon, the receiver will be automaticly detected. You need to go out of your house and stay clear of any buildings to have signal(open area, 30-40 feet from the buildings).Only for TomTom Navigator. For Navigon5 I couldn't get the receiver. Does anyone have a manual in english? I will most appreciate to be e-mailed to me.My e-mail address is [email protected] Amaizing PDA Phone, I love it. Good luck to allof you.

  • Hi Armin, I have the same problem.I don't have the gps icon and the HTC can not find it with the automatic detection.Have you solved your problem? Please let me know ! Does anyone know the COM-PORT,BAUD and the type of receiver(modular, with or without TMC, etc) ? :(

  • But,Soxinooo, are the google maps appropriate to run with tomtom6 navigator application because not all label maps works with... are they specific to TT6? What`s the key word?

  • Hi guys, I have a problem with my P3600 here in Egypt. The GPS is disabled by the dealer due to country regulations. Does any one knows how to enable it cause I'm going to London & i need to work it there & thanks.

  • Yeh! After my last post I finaly have my GPS enabled! How? I am not quite sure but the mistake stays on my ignorance about this gps things...how could I have the satelite reception enabled while staying inside de house ? Now,it only remains configuring the options to the best and instal other maps on the card.

  • Hi guys, I think, eventually, I have the simple answers for two problems recently questioned in this forum: 1) [P3600] User and/or GPS softcopy guides availability (PDF format); 2) Built-in GPS receivers sensitivity. 1) About softcopy... Click on Manual link below the image of P3600 on this very page to get to the HTC Support site Select Training Guides link there Good luck! 2) About GPS [some mistakenly mentioned GPRS - see glossary for explanation whereas GPS stands for Global Positioning System]. For almost 3 months (!!!) I couldnt make it work for me due to some lack of prior hand-on experience with such receivers. Finally, I set it right. Well, if youre still in my shoes, dont despair and try my advice. The installation of the patches (ROM upgrade, and then TomTom) is relatively easy. Do it once, and take your phone out. The GPS setup is automatic; however, it could be idle if you bring the unit to a wrong place (as I did). It all depends on how well you find a right open air outdoor location to ease your GPS receivers search for its first satellites. [The middle of a soccer field would be ideal] Leave your phone on a flat surface facing heavens for 5-10 minutes. Make sure that nothing shadows the sky for it, including your own body, meaning youd better stay away at a distance of 30-40 feet. Thats it. Hint: all subsequent satellite catches would be comparably instantaneous while you keep the application running. However, if you decide to close it or shut the unit down, youll need to repeat the described GPS setup entirely after Tom Toms next invocation. Optional details: got my P3600 in February through www.egadgetdepot.com (US) [Matching prices, excellent Customer Service]; Later, added mini SD 2G card; first installed TomTom Navigator in April; have been enjoying the flawless usage of the unit with GPS functionality since June and wish you the same!!!

  • Hi guys, Ive read some recent posts and decided, first ever, to share my personal experience of using [and enjoying] P3600. My long message (Sorry, I struggled to be concise) might be interesting only to 1) those who need the .pdf versions of P3600 User Guide, GPS Guide; or to 2) those who cant make their GPS receiver work... The rest of the audience would better avoid wasting their time 1) Softcopies of User Guides. If you click on Manual link under the image of P3600 on this GSMArena page, youll be transferred to the HTC Support site where Id recommend you to select Training Guides link Good luck! 2) GPS [stands for Global Positioning System, rather than GPRS which means something else see glossary at HTC Support page] enablement. Im writing the following notes only because it seemed to me that somebody has similar unlucky fortune with the suggested ROM upgrade as I did for the first months. So, dont despair and keep reading on - it might help you I purchased my P3600 in the US through a trusted web site this February. I first downloaded a ROM upgrade enabling GPS functionality in April. By that time I didnt experience any problems with the phone, including newly added TomTom Navigator, except the sensitivity of the built-in GPS receiver Most of the times, I saw No valid GPS signal on the TomTom screen or an endless Initializing GPS warning on the Camera screen. I didnt know what to do. So, I repeated the download exercise a couple of times without any visible success. I contacted my retailer about the problem, and he assured me that it sounded unique for him, for he never heard similar complaints from anybody else among his customers However, the end of the story is happy - my GPS receiver works now, although I actually dont know what so special I did to revive it Thus, I routinely visited HTC main web site after a long break; tried a new option of HTC e-club membership; registered my phone there; found a new link to the familiar ROM patch; decided to apply it one more time. When I saved the patch on my laptop, I compared [visually] its details with the old one downloaded in April from HTC Europe Support site. The differences were microscopic: like the same size, but different Last Modified date. Even now I doubt it was not the same patch I usually synchronize the phone with my laptop through ActiveSync running under my user profile (without any administrative privileges), yesterday I repeated the entire upgrade (first ROM, then TomTom) under my Administrator profile (through Guest connection). That was all I can report to you on the matter Later I found my GPS receiver to be super-sensitive (meaning recognizing up to 8 satellites!) Well, when you finish, dont hurry testing it in your room go outside to the open air! And dont forget to prior ask and then thank Heavens for the little miracle! Good luck!!!

  • Hi guys, getting my upgrade on orange next month. I'm not sure whether to go with this phone or maybe jump ship and go to 02 and get the XDA orbit. I guess there isn't much between them? What's everyones experience with the tomtom software? I'm on the road alot and need a good GPRS solution. It seems to be a good solid phone, but from peoples opinions below, the GPRS experiences seem to be varied. peace jim

  • When I access a page made in Flash, the phone does not open it, it asks me to download the flash plugin first. I did from the Adobe.com - flash player 7 for PPC, but it still doesn't work. can anyone help me??

  • Just updated to new rom 1.23.405.2, but gps seems not enabled? Although TomTom6 and map installed but no satelite signals. How do I know the gps is activated? There is no gps program icon in the connections folder. What went wrong? please!

  • it finds a gps fix, but a little slowly (even among tall buildings). mine works fine for months.

  • Can any body please tell me if you need an extra device to use GPS with this phone, I downloaded the last version of firmware and then i downloaded the TOMTOM trial version and 1 city map from HTC e-club, but TOMTOM can't not find any valid gps signal, do I have to buy sometihng else or do I need something else. what is the problem?

  • I need some informations about the GPRS. Is it exist or not for P3600. Can Gas send me the pdf manual of P3600. [email protected] Thanks

  • It is Fantastic this small PDA mobile. I admire this P3600

  • Dear Mr. GAS Can you send me the pdf file of the complete manual of the HTC P3600. [email protected] Thank you indeed.

  • What software to use the GPS ? Where to download ? This phone rockz.......

  • Just bought my TRANSCEND 4GB miniSDHC card from Fnac and is perfectly readable with Pocket Mechanic`s card information. Now I can format my P3600 and give it a try!

  • Hi...some sites say theres a fm radio. Is there a radio? or can it be activated.....pref with rds like the 3300. Also any news on the wm6 upgrade?

  • According to HCT this phone supports HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbits.

  • Enable GPS version is great. iv done it. theres a DOPOD D810 version same as this.

  • I have had the P3600 - AWESOME!

  • Ive got this phone it is fantastic - cant find a fault with it yet - although you cant add sd cards over 4gb - doesnt accept high capacity cards according to the HTC team - but Ive got it running fine with a 2GB MiniSD. HTC customer services are among the best I have spoken to - very helpful and seem to have a resolution for any difficulties I had with the device (And that hasnt been often)- One such difficulty was syncing with Activesync which they resolved in minutes. This is one of the greatest mobile gadgets I have had and looks smart too.

  • P3600 upgrade in WM6, any one upgrade please tell me.

  • the GPS enable version was out long ago if u purchase an old P3600, u still could update from HTC website

  • Is there any one know when they have GPS (with the new firmware versions only) And if any one know where they sell this version, please inform me. Thanks

  • I have two questions about the HTC P3600 - The calendar is very slow. Do you know why? is it an ususal problem? Do resets solve the issue? - I cannot set a tone for the reception of SMS, or MMS. In the menu they propose some, but when you try them, whatever they are, you hear nothing? It is strange, and on the contrary it works well for the normal ring tone in case of a call received. Any solution to that? Thanks a lot in advance GC

  • 4gig miniSD are not "miniSD", they are "miniSD HC" (hi capacity, which is a diff.standard of SD), and it looks like P3600 does not support it - with the current SW.

  • I bought this phone to use in US with a 4G memory card by Samsung to use with TomTom maps and my mp3 files, but I am having all kind of problems with the card. Replaced it with another one, same problem. Card will lock and phone can't see it. Did anyone use a 4G card with this phone successfully and if so, what brand?

  • Hi there! can anyone please tell me how to change sms and alarm ringtones? tried to put some ringtones i've downloaded in the windows folder but i can't use them...

  • hi! does this phone is able to play encoded movies like divx, xvid with the codecs instaled?

  • I e-mail the HTC English Manual to a few people they asked for it. I hope they did received it. Sorry if it took too long but it was 4Mb after all. Now myself Im very pleased with the operation of my HTC P3600, my only complain is that that the paint finish is pealing off, especially near the stylus socket, does anyone else have this problem? Please let me know. I had the phone only 2 weeks when it started pealing off, the local agent said that it is a general fault with this model, and asked me if I wanted it repaired I have to wait some time, and they will inform me when Im suppose to give it in. Does anyone have similar experience please let us know.

  • I plann to buy a HTC3600 BUT I want to know if it accepts 1 phone card with 2 numbers from 2 different phone providers? Now I have a Nokia and I use that card. The phone have a menu in which I chose the number I want to use. Tks for any help. Luis

  • To Gas Gas, could you please send me the P3600 pdf manual? [email protected] Thanks, very much in advance,

  • @ EC Yes, if your using a GPS program while you receive an incoming call, the phone will ring and you can pick up the call. @ j@5I you have to have a GPS software (such as TomTom, or iGuidance) installed for you to search for satellites. I use iGuidance 3 myself. ok, i had my P3600 for 3 months now and my LCD screen stopped responding. The touchscreen doesn't work. I have to use the scroll wheel to select the options i want. I understand that this is a known issue with HTC Europe. I live in the USA, so i have to send it to the UK to get it fixed since HTC America doesn't service the P3600. I recommend you buy a different phone. This is a common problem with the P3600

  • I am interested in buying a gps enabled phone. How is htc3600 in comparison to htc3300. 3300 is sleek and light while 3600 looks bulky. how does GPS work online connected with sattelite? anything extra to be paid for using this? any comparison with Nokia N95... any recommendations please?

  • To Davep When you are at the contacts and you have already "opened" the desired contact, you can choose from the "menu" down at right the "edit contact" option. Then you can choose the ringtone you wish.(the ringtone has to be placed in "my documents" in main memory or in folder "rings".

  • I was wondering if somebody could help me figure out how to search for a satellite. Do I need a satellite signal from my phone network(Cingular) or something or is the GPS reciever on the phone enough. Thanks!!!

  • Have just had this phone from Orange. WELL IMPRESSED!!! Does anyone know if it is possible to setup seperate ringtones for different callers.

  • Hello, Can the phone be used (get or make a call) if the navigation software is running? Does it stop the navigation? Thanks, EC

  • Guys I need a instruction manual for this PPC. I would kindly ask If ne 1 could send it to me to my email. Also if I do a rom update will the language of the PPC change along with the update? My Email is [email protected] Thank you.

  • To toto, If you included you e-mail next time, I will send you an HTC P3600 manual in pdf format. Cheers Gas

  • I am thinking to buy the 3600. I have played a bit with it in a media markt store and it looks fine. My only question is if its easy to unolck the gps and use any navigation software with greek maps.

  • I'm thinking to buy the P3600, can I use the mini SD high capacity memory of 4GB. regards, zarko

  • looking for HTC 3600 manual. thanks.

  • Of all the newer HTC line, this doesn't get upgrade to WM6. Sucky!!!!

  • Hi has anyone tried using the IR Keyboard which comes with O2 Atom exec on Dopod D810 ?

  • Carphonewarehouse have this model in their shops IN BLACK, for those who don't like te white version which Orange will only supply you in their shops!

  • I have the Orange SPV700 version and have had it for a week now. The phone gets a good signal, picks up 3G and Edge ok, the WiFi works well (a bit slow on forst web site access though) and is small enough for the pocket but large enough for the SatNav to work well in the car. The SatNav is great, just tell TomTom you are an NMEA on Com9 and hey presto! Pairs well with the car hands free system without the echo I used to get with my earlier SPV M2000. All in all, well impressed, and with Orange Uk, it ships with tailored car holder, mains charger, car charger, USB lead, headphones, belt case and screen protector. Not much to buy then.

  • purchased p3600 recently and i love it. one problem is that i can't send a multi media message. text messages are no problem. went over some things with t mobile can't seem to figure out. any ideas!!!! anyone!!!!

  • Thi HTC phone is sold by Orange in the UK as the SPV M700. In there specs it does not have GPS even though the phone has it included, Orange just don't seem to want to market that feature of the phone? I am trying to decide between this phone or the O2 Orbit which is the HTC P3300 (Artemis)! Cheers now

  • Wrong place SkEn. I am sure only the TI OMAP owners would believe you.

  • Yes, GPS working with really good satelites adquisition. And yes, you can heard the voice commands with your earphone jack. Also, exists some software utils, not from HTC, to heard it across your bluetooth paired speakers.

  • The new official ROM update from HTC is now available! The GPS works! I am running iGuidance 3 on my phone. Instructions: once you download the ROM, hook up your phone to your PC and make sure Active Sync is running, then double click the ROM and follow the instructions. go to (copy and paste that link to your browser) - and search for "P3600" and you'll find a thread for the new ROM update. cheers!

  • best buy is HTC Artemis 3300 its processor speed is amazing feel is excellent

  • Htc i Using HTC 3600 my personal opinion is u buy HTC 3600, it works very well with its processor and the feel u get when u carry this PDA is awesome check with the store my freind.

  • what is different between Dopod 810 to HTC P600?

  • I have bought recently a p3600 from italy, and of course is in italian. I want to change the language of OS in eng. what can I do?. thx

  • Hi, can you hear GPS voice through earphone? Thx

  • - MP3/AAC player?? Isn't it with MS Media Player?? If it's not, I guess the sound quality will be worse.. Some owner info?

  • o2 zinc made by asus,is asus pdafone Stability? htc p3600 is the best gps 3.5g pdafone.

  • Just bought this phone from Orange UK. After tested, Im decided to return it. The reason was it got not normal earphone plug. You have to use their original earphone which is mini usb type. Secondly, the body built quality not very good. may b only happen on orange type. you will c alot of small gap, which not seal proper. If you are the ukuser, the 3.5g (HSPDA) is not available yet, may b it wont available in future. so don't care too much about this function. Third, the software. Plz be aware, it got no Msn messenger, no autoconfig, no Microsoft Outlook. If you download from Microsoft website, you have to pay for it. And for phone dial software, it is totally useless. But, for the performance, it is very good. I had to install skype. it run very well and no problem at connect through wifi. If you would like to get one of this, for my personal view, it is ok for the beginner. Finally to say I'm going to wait for the o2 zinc.

  • I own a dopod D810 it's work perfect even with new GPS ROM much better ! Just hope this phone comes with flash ! so that i can catch my love photo video at night !

  • Hey folks, Thought I'd post 'an aside' for those interested. I've been considering getting this phone for a while as it's the closest to what I'm looking for - ie., has 3G *and* GPS (even tho' it's not 'officially' on this model). As a double aside, the GPS itself is the Qualcomm chipset - capable of 12 channels. The P3300 is better for GPS as it's using SiRF GSC3 SiRFstarIII which is capable of 20 channels. However, I was also hoping for something with a keyboard but which still comes in at less than 18mm. And, on the wishlist was a flash to go with the camera. So, with all that in mind, I happened to find this: HTC P4550 - available from June (cut and paste into browser as clicking links seems to bring you back here) ...58 x 110 x 18mm in size, 2.8mp camera *with* flash , keyboard *and* tilt-up display! Oh, and 3G and GPS of course (GPS is NMEA 0183 chipset - unfortunately I know nothing about it). I'm gonna try and hold out 'til June. PS. *Thank you* GSMArena for this *non-registration* forum where we can quickly share knowledge and opinion without the hassle of registration to get in the way.

  • Does anybody still have the dopod ROM for the gps? I think dopod changed their site recently requiring you to have purchased their phone before allowing you to download the new ROM. I would appreciate it if you could send me the file at [email protected] Thanks

  • Also - you can download Skype for Mobile - Pocket PC .Works well.Use your headset to hear calls - it's more private !

  • Go to www.dopodasia.com to upgrade to new ROM version 1.23 with GPS activation. You need Active Sync 4.5 first which is the latest version . GPS activiation is free but you need to buy the maps etc . You can download Google Maps into this PDA phone too.

  • Does this device cater for VOIP applications? (skype)

  • I bought one of these but the australian version called the Dopod d810 after the first 3 days i could not start it and have no idea why or even charge it the charge light does not even come on as if its a plastic little box, anyways returned it to optusworld and see if they give me a new one besides this huge problem it was working very well...Tony

  • what about GPS??? I want it!!!!!

  • HTC will come out with an "official" updated ROM for the p3600 "soon", i'd wait for that instead of using the Dopod ROM. From what i read so far, to update, all you need to do is sync up your phone to your computer and double click the ROM and that's all you need to do. i never done it myself, so you might want to ask around.

  • Is a ROM update something you can do on your own at home? And where do you get the new ROM in first place? (If it's illegal, post "it's illegal" - I'm just wondering). Thanks

  • My Dopod D810 just perfect, After I upgraded to the newest ROM I can use GPS using mapking and blackberry

  • Off-Topic: Can anybody tell me what's up with the links in this list? They always direct me back to gsmarena.com instead of the original page...

  • Alright, let me get this straight: The P3600 "Trinity" does have GPS capability, however in most cases it is disabled so far. But as I saw today, Vodafone Germany is preparing the launch of the GPS version for the first quarter of this year. Here's the link for those of you who speak German:

  • Thanks Dopod fans, I read that the official HTC ROM update will be released in a few weeks. I'll wait for that. I was asking about the GPS software, but everything i read so far is that there is NO GPS software pre-installed such as TomTom or Garmin.

  • HTC P3600 (Dopod D810) has a GPS, all you need to do is download the ROM to activate the GPS hardware, for more info

  • Ive had quite a number of pda phones in the past and i can say that the biggest problem ive had with them are:1)poor reception 2)poor battery life 3)slow processor. Is this phone good or even excellent at these categories? Can someone who had the P3600 tell me their view on this?As far as features I can say that this is one of the best in the market right now.My other question is how efficient is the dialling function on this since it doesnt have querty keyboard?Really very interested to get one.

  • Does this phone have a GPS software installed? what program is it? or do we have to install our own program such as TomTom or do we select which maps to installed? are the maps saved on the phone's hard drive or the mini SD card? Thanks

  • has the GPS rom come out yet?? Can one use a radio??

  • best pda fone is p3600....

  • i love it,gps.3.5g....,usb connect my nb internet....,really nice..

  • Hi, the GPS is perfect...just change your ROM. I love this phone..

  • it is very nice product, but I dont see GPS modul!!! Why!!!??

  • does this thing have a FM radio? Saw that it has, on another site.

  • Very nice Smart Phone & reliable i bought it less than a month ago. But i want to install the arabic language on it. Also i want to bring something like a shock absorber to avoid scratchs. Do anyone have any ideas?!

  • May I know will this phone has multilanguage function, the language is Chinese? This is my main concern. Thanks for your time

  • Buy the headphone jack on ebay, I paid for it 2 dollars plus chipping. At the same place you can get a silicon sleeve to protect it. Seller is Johnnyhs321. He's cool I got my stuff no problem, very fast. BTW I use it in Canada on FIDO/Rogers, 3G works perfectly it's scary it is so fast forget wifi

  • I have the p3600 for about a month now and it is an awesome unit. The reception is the clearest I ahve ever heard on a phone never minda PDA based phone. It is very relaible as well. I ahve travelled to several countries and it swithced the band, etc. with no problems. It is also very fast and easily can multi task a 3G download (email, WWW) with MP3 playback etc. It also has unbeleivable streaming of Podcasts. Any drawbacks? I have had some minor inconveniences with wifi running while bluthooth is running. It also does lock up, but very seldom. I amsure in the next ROM upgrade these minor points will be addressed. I have had various multifunction phone/PDA and this one is the best by far!!! I highly recommend it.

  • HTC is better. O2's OS system is not as stable.

  • I want a touch screen fone, however I am not sure which fone has the best processor? I was thinkin of getting O2 atom exec. or HTC P3600? Can sumone help me figure out which fone to buy? Thanks

  • i recently purchased two p3600 factory unlocked phones from a very reliable and lowest price guaranteed company called phonesource-usa.com----the phones are incredibly versatile and powerful. in my opinion they are the smallest, most powerful and reliable smartphone in the market right now. i highly recommend them to anyone seeking a device like these. they are second to none. Justin- Tampa, FL

  • im from South Africa and am interested in getting this phone. I've readr most of the comments. All i want to know is how many days does the batt last? Con u play music through the man speaker and if so is it loud? What is the max memoery u can put into the unit? Can you download and use Java enabled games/IM such as Mig33? What is the call quality like? I dont need to know much else bout it such as GPS coz to be honest you can buy GPR units that work. Dont know why the even put it in cellphones. its stupid.

  • Yes, this can be used on ANY gsm provider. It is unlocked. Yes, the 3G works in the USA also. The display will show 3G across the top bar if you are in a 3G area. A tiny 3g shows about the signal strength bars if you are doing data on 3G. The ONE problem you could have is if you don't know how to set up for MMS or Data for your carrier. Google for it. I have tested it on T-mobile and am using it for 1 week on Cingular. The ONLY thing I find that is different than the reviews is the ear piece volume. It is the SAME as my other older 2 HTCs. It IS clear, but the volume is the same to me.

  • this phone is way too sick i'm just wondering if it works here in the USA or it depends on your carrier network?

  • This device looks like it's fantastic and just what I'm looking for...except does it have a headphone jack? I want to use it partly as a wifi radio receiver to play through my home stereo... can I adapt the connection or does it only work via HTC headphones. Comments would be very appreciated!!

  • Update on SPD GPRS Monitor software SPD GPRS Monitor software I have been informed by HTC this was taken out is not supplied on the CD Bit Naughty in my eyes if it says quite plainly in the manual on page 133 SPD GPRS Monitor software is supplied on disc And gives 6 pages on how to use the software they dont supply Me thinks this needs more pushing from people who have purchased and been cheated out of 30 of software

  • I thought I'd answer a few simple Q's that have already been asked... Mike, you can get online by buying a data plan from your network provider. You pay extra for it, but anywhere they have converage, you can get online. This device also have WiFi, which works well and is free at any hotspot or via a wireless home network. Hisel, I haven't used the Tytn, but my P3600 works flawlessly, no alignment issue at all. This device can be used as a modem. The manual dedicates a few pages to this subject and details all the options for doing so. I disagree with Abu about the phone quality. His comment kinda worried me before I bought mine...maybe It's his network, or Dopods software...my HTC branded P3600 works very well as a phone on Rogers network. Last but not least, The phone does have GPS Functionality...It IS disabled from the factory...but all the necessary hardware is present in the device. A future firmware upgrade and software install should make this device just as capable of GPS as the P3300 is. Hope that helps for now.

  • Hey all, I just bought this device/phone (P3600 in Black) yesterday and I'm extremely pleased with it so far. To those interested or wondering, It came with a 1500MAh battery not the 1250MAh one listed on this site and a few other places. I played with it for 3.5 hours straight last night on a full charge, and then left it in standby all night until the late afternoon today, and It still has approx. 80% battery life remaining...much better than I was expecting. With average use, I should be able to get away with only charging it every 3-4 days. It's an amazing little device, very fast, very sleek. It does attract dust and prints easily like others have mentioned but It's not really that bad at all. Call quality is excellent on Rogers network here in Canada. I was worried about this being a problem, Since It's my primary phone and main use...but so far, so good. My main concern is protecting the unit itself from being dropped and/or damaging the large display. This is my first PDA phone, and so far it exceeds my expectations. If anyone has any questions, I'll check back and try to answer them.

  • I don't have this but it does look and sound like a pretty fancy and cool phone. Only thing is they come in the dull black or white colours only. Why don't they have more colours?! C'mon HTC, pink please...

  • My advice to you all whose having plan to buy any PDA which using Microsoft OS, is just reconsider your plan. Yes, Microsoft is good in PC/PDA, but when it comes to cellphone, Microsoft is quite frustating. Slow, oftenly "guessing" when using it, battery drain very fast. Please use other platform cellphones, i prefer myself symbian, siemens or palm garnet. It is much much more intuitive than Microsoft.

  • I just bought this device recently in Hong-Kong (10 days ago) and have been quite happy with it. The negatives are is that the screen quality under the sun is quite poor (great in normal conditions though), the sound from the earphone when making or receiving calls is very poor, I can barely here the other side and the other side can barley here me as well. When using the speakerphone, the sound then is pretty clear and loud and I can hear the other party quite well but the odd thing is that the other party can not hear me well. When using the bundled headphones for using the phone the sound quality is quite good and the other party has no problems hearing me either. The MSN seems to be a bit slow at times and seems to hang as well at times. Everything else seems to work nice and smooth. The really odd thing is that believe it or not my nokia E60 and Nokia N73 browser using 3g is much faster then the 3.5G using this device to surf the web. Web pages open up much faster and quicker when using the Nokia E60 and N73 then when compared to the Doopod D810 which is the same device basically. The Nokia also usually has more bars for signal strengths when compared to this phone. The Nokia E60 and N73 also receives e-mails quicker then this device. I think it has something to do with the software that the devices come with. Windows media player sounds great. Put all your music on the SD card and you can listen to all your music on the run. Sound quality of music using headphones is great! Battery life is quite long when the phone is switched off to flight mode but less then half when the phone is switched on. I fyou wish to use this as a phone you will be very frustrated with it but if you wish to have it as a second device while travelling then you will find it quite good. I still prefer to use my Nokia for basic calls over this phone.

  • Yes, it supports T9 PHONE PAD. A software by HTC not included with this model - but that works very well - can be founded here: Best regards

  • Did his model support PHONE PAD like i-mate jamin/q-tek s200 ? I mean t9 phone pad like on normal phone. It is easier to send SMS. I heard that O2 Atom don't has it.

  • i heard from local supplier this handphone cannot use as modem, is't true?

  • is there an alignment problem as with the tytn?

  • I also did not get the application CD. HTC pointed towards vendor also - seems someone has messed up somewhere. I'll be chasing up vendor on Monday, but already see this going round in circles. All the same, great phone - only issue is it being a finger print magnet - but everything else is working out fantastic - glad I waited.

  • I have it in white, and it's absolutelly gorgeous and works fantastically! For the moment, who wants gps should buy a bluetooth gps receiver, to mount in you car. I will do that, 'cause I already have the Navigation software for my country installed (and loads of other programs :> ) The price is about 700-750 euro in my country (in Eastern Europe)

  • Just got mine and yep its a top phone well built solid little phone mines in black so fingerprints are a pain but it looks sweat! Just a note i have called HTC as there is software missing from install CD On page 133 of the manual it says SPD GPRS Monitor software is supplied on disc But NOPE not on mine thats 30 worth of software missing mailed HTC They said return to get new disc from vender called vender they are arguing with HTC MMM LOOK FOR UPDATES HERE

  • i got it XD that's the best pockect pc i ever had!!!!

  • I Mailed HTC and asked then about GPS on this model and there reply was as follows: The HTC P3600 currently does not offer GPS Functionality. There is a possibility of an update to enable the GPS functions of the device at a future date, and we hope to be able to do this as soon as possible, but we cannot and do not guarantee this. If you buy the P3600 for possible future GPS functionality, you do so entirely at your own risk

  • Hi, I'm in United States & using Cingular. I'm looking for my very first PDA phone & decided to go with this phone. I know Cingular supports the TyTN (meaning you can use email, get online & all). My question is if I get this phone, how do i get it works with Cingular as in terms of getting online, using web browser, ect besides making & answering calls?? Thanks for your help. D [email protected]

  • Loving every minute of owning this device! Jeez...i think i found my soulmate in life in this gadget...

  • i got this fone eirlier this week i had the htc tytn before bt would recomend it to any one looking for a pda phone who dosnt want one too big. its fast, has loads of functions and the internet speeds are similar to broadband if you use the opera mini browser. the battery is a bit poor though, comes with a 1500 mAh battery and its needs charging regularly. 10 out of 10

  • its instock Black www.smart-mobile-gadgets.com

  • really good....

  • It looks ugly... I'd rather have my P3300 to be honest...

  • Dopod 801 verson of the HTC p3600 has it in black.

  • Black model looks nice, doesn't it? I'm ready for it now? How is about price?

  • thanks

  • Yeah, but the Palm operating system on the Treos, clearly blows away any and all window based GSM pda phones, in both speed and reliability, ever trief to open a large file jpeg on a windows mobile 5.0 major big time joke. after all everyone and there grandmother knows that window based anything is a major flaw in itself period.

  • And if you guys wants gps buildt in you should check out HTC P3300, but this has a only 201MZ cpu. So buy an external gps receiver. :-D

  • CPU: Samsung SC32442A, 400 MHz

  • Yes but Asus looks more powerful and stable to get it under HTC's nose. HTC would need Non smartphones if they want to make their mark in the cell phone industry.

  • after going Independent I heard they are bidding for benq mobile.

  • I'm still a bit skeptical on this unit having GPS, as reported here and on numerous websites. What do they have to win by hiding this info and not telling the truth? besides, the GPS info has not been confirmed by HTC. If it was, I'd have no resrvations buying it. How would you feel if you bought another phone ONLY because the P3600 didn't have GPS, only to find out that it does!

  • 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM ???? This is a joke or error??? At the end of 2006? The battery also seems weak!!!

  • Too thick, too big, and looks cheap. It is almost impossible to find out what CPU is inside (Samsung what?) Needs more memory! Very expensive!!!!

  • I hear this phone is launching on t-mobile in november or december

  • We can already pre-order this phone in the USA, should be available by the end of October. Source link:

  • Ok...i just wanted to say how i am saddened by the fact that this fone is not on the market yet. I want this fone and i want it now. Lets have sex

  • Would we be able to purchase the black version over the yucky ipod-like white?

  • I can't believe how many people have posted about the lack of GPS on this phone AFTER the post earlier about the fact that it HAS a GPS receiver built in but it is just disabled for the moment until they put out a software update that will fix the incompatibility between the GSM and the GPS. The update that will enable the GPS is said to be out in early 2007. Please read the previous posts before continuing to bash this product over misinformation! Go to this link if you still don't believe it! There, I feel better now.

  • Actuly Im Waiting for A PPC phone by O2, Having everything what this HTC phone has, I wud also want the Phone to Have FM radio.. Rest Everything Sounds Perfect

  • In stock here .....

  • IrDA - Yes Autofocus - No

  • Sorry, I'll wait the next version. Great device, but look at the screen - 240x320 - too small for it. I have Nokia N80 (very disapointed, btw.), and it's 352x416. PDAs this size in 2006 just have to be 480x640. I guess it's marketing again, to sell this for some time then slightly upgrade with display and a couple of small features and refresh sales.

  • Looks like it has GPS which is just disabled ....

  • Can someone please post the link to the information on this device having built-in GPS but software disabled? I'm ready to purchase the P3300/trinity just because of the GPS, so if this model has then I'm sold on this!

  • It HAS an infrared port. On the bottom of the device. Check the following link for (the only?) review on the net of the device: Cheers, Gee-Jay.

  • I've just read that the GPS chipset is in the P3600 but has been disabled because of problems with it and the Qualcom radio. In a few HTC will release a software update to enable GPS.

  • I have been waiting for 5 years for this device, except for one thing.....GPS. Please, oh please, could you add GPS. I am thrilled about the UMTS, and the small size. I am fine with the lack of keyboard to keep the size reasonable. Better to increase the battery size when you add the GPS. I would even sacrifice the front camera for it. TMobile US just won a bunch of UMTS bandwidth, which should be implemented soon. So please think of us! I would buy now if this had GPS.

  • the camera has autofocus?it has infrared or not?pls someone who has it answer!!!

  • Almost perfect, but look gay from the front and the back. And the shell seems cheap too. Need more RAM, GPS and FM Radio. I like without the keyboard which make it thinner since the stylus input method is faster anyway. I will wait till the all_in_one comes out. I am tired of buying PDA phones as they are out of date within a few months.

  • the pocketpc phone will get kill by symbian os phone... this is almost same with the now available se p990, what if the nokia n95 available at the same time? o2, htc plz invest more on the tech...

  • I can't believe they didn't include GPS. I was waiting for this for ages, what makes it stand out from the crowd ?? NOTHING !!!!!! They have lost themselves a lot of customers !!

  • This is a very good product and wil definatly recomends to others

  • No GPS? Why would they do that? Here's an almost perfect device and no GPS. Is anyone listening?

  • If it only had GPS this would have been PERFECT! Why can't they build one like this with GPS? The others either have a too small screen, underpowered CPU, just GPRS, or something that makes it fall short.

  • Pros : 3.5G, WiFi, etc Cons : What no GPS? :(

  • I can't believe they got rid of GPS!!. I'm not buying this anymore.

  • Does this really not include Infra red isn't that a bit silly, infrared is still usefull!

  • I am using one under the trinity name, which is the pre release name. Very stable, no FM radio, runs at 400Mhz, camera is excellent. WM5 Rules, until 6 comes out...

  • Expected GPS is missing...what a pitty, I realy wanted to buy it, but no sense without it:( Maybe next time...

  • I think gsmarena has some specs wrong: 1. This phone does not have FM radio 2. Nowhere in the specs it is mentioned a 400Mhz processor

  • Ugly bulky form, RAM 64, battery life, and no GPS. Please this thing is for amateurs who just see the features but never know how this thing should do for work. They should made it in Treo-form and battery life for at least 5-6 hours talk and 300-350 hours standby (qwerty is needed for sure), RAM should be 128 (that's why i still keep my old Treo 650 for almost a year and a half), GPS (super need for this one).

  • Looks nice; so is this like the "Wizard" PC with UMTS? That's sweet! What's the price and what provider will have it? Obviously a GSM carrier......right?

  • HSDPA is the next step on from UMTS, i.e. 3.5G. Try this:

  • will the p3600 have the same processor speed as the tytn?

  • They took out the GPS from the original Trinity specs! THAT'S BAD! They still insist of keeping something out so we will buy their next device! And memory as send above its an issue! HTC WE NEED A GPS ON THIS DEVICE AND MORE MEMORY! Or else I won't buy another HTC device for a small fortune once more! And They better keep those OMAPs away from their devices!

  • what is HSDPA & UMTS ? it's 3G rite? but what's differents between it.? tq.

  • will this be available in the philippines? i want one!

  • SDRAM need to be increase. With 64 RAM, it crash many times, they should made at least 128.

  • This phone features are boom. Anyway, there is one more thing i would like to be clear about. Talking about its speaker sound quality, does anyone know how could this line of phone (which is made by HTC) be compared to? Thanks.

  • Well I mainly rely on GSM Arena for my mobile info and I found it quite good and detailed. And unfortunately I can't read Chinese :( though I like china.

  • if u can read chinese pls go it stated it oso got gps built in... in addition to wifi... 3g... edge... hsdpa... wow... wat a phone...

  • It's a cute piece of technology but it's missing the GPS receiver as this phone has way more features than P3300 but P3600 is only missing GPS receiver which is a good thing for business people who travel frequently and is a great help.

  • it has all the features possibly for this kind of device! more than nokia's best

  • It's great i do need it use in my Country hmm so cute and many fuctions specially radio FM and HSPDA and so small easy to use in hand and pocket.
