I've had my Vivid for almost two years now; it was bought used and I've replaced the battery. It's spent it's life with me in an otterbox commuter case. While the phone does seem to glitch about once a week, I have to praise it for it's ruggedness. I haven't managed to break it, much less crack the screen, and I'm terrible with phones.

I have nothing but praise for the camera & video, but the battery gets hot periodically and the system crashes periodically, but I am not live on AT&T and so I am most likely not getting OS updates. I currently use it just for Wi-Fi surfing & taking great photos or movies.

do a factory reset but do not erase your data unless you have backup. you may have run an app like bluetooth app sender. it causes that problem. i use the same phone.

all you have to do is reduce you vibration to zero in settings... that won't mean your phone will not vibrate on incoming calls or texts but will not vibrate only when typing.

go to setting.. language and keyboard.. then the settings for touch input, on the right side.. then text input.. do you see "vibrate when typing" under "other settings"? uncheck it. if that doesn't work, unscrew the back of the phone, and remove the small electric motor with that lump of metal on its tip. THAT must work!!

most carriers dont want you to hotspot so they turn it off. there is a way to get it to hotspot buy rooting it and replacing a system file.

I was looking for cheap yet fully loaded smartphone. HTC vivid gave me all I was looking for... the screen is large enough and functions are pretty awesome. Front camera is good and rear camera is 8mp which is also a fascinating feature.. I have compared camera quality and speed with iphone 5c and yes definitely.. 5c is way better... It does not make much difference for me if my phone does not capture as sharp pictures as iphone 5c and it is not as fast as 5c.. Afterall HTC vivid is remarkably cheaper and functions very good...additionally, you can expand your memory upto 32gb which is not available in iphone... furthermore, it has inbuilt GPS (I love it..). If you are planning to buy this phone.. do not hesitate for even a second.. Buy it... you wont be disappointed..

couple of things plz help me out on this, u said to get music get g-tunes app right, but why u can copy paste the musics folder to your sd card in phone right ? about battery life, tell me the exact timing as 12 hours are more than enough for daily usage as remaining 12 hours nobody can use the phone (8hrs sleeping, 2hrs on going & returning to office or other & 1hrs for lunch & 1hr misc activities) so left 24 out of only 12. one of the guy said sound quality is poor is that so ?

worked great for a while then started to overheat, sound awful-had to use hearing aid feature poor speaker so no work around. is very fast but was always charging it. did not synch with htc synch or other synch software until upgrade to software and must put it in the mode to synch did not do it automatically.

I had the same problem with battery, it sucks, big time, but as I read reviews I bought a battery from amazon, that is 2000 mAh, it´s better than the original, and with a couple of days running this its just a lot better, also I installed an App for better using battery charge, and it also helps with the tips.. I just read the specs on this phone, which I've had since August 2012. It seems that the battery should have a very long "stand-by" time (288 hrs)and talk time should be fairly long (7 hrs), but I have yet to experience this. The vivid is a splendid device very powerful especially after rooting I am using a motorola milestone 1 and I can overclock my cpu to as high as 1200mhz ignoring the safe parameter is 800mhz but the vivid will be a descent step up from tht even has dual core!

It says mini-SIM because a normal SIM would be used in older phones. A mini-SIM is what is used in more recent phones like the vivid. I think that you got mixed up with micro-SIM which is what is used in phones like the iPhone 4. and now a new size of SIM came out with the iPhone 5 that is called a nano-SIM, which is smaller than the micro. There is the nano, micro, mini, and normal. We now call the mini-SIM the normal SIM because it is the most used nowadays. But now the micro-SIM is becoming more common in phones.

No it will not pick up 4g on t- mo network because of the difference in signal capture.T- mo use different technology and is 6 Mons to a year behind ATT but get it unlocked and will work perfectly on straight talk plans because they use the same technology as ATT.

I dunno I've had mine for months and it's awesome. I came from a Motorola Atrix 4G which was a nightmare (random restarts, broken sound, dropping calls like crazy all sorts of weird stuff). But this HTC Vivid has been flawless. Does tend to chew through a battery but charging it nightly and maybe a quick pickup charge at my desk at work and it's good to go. I'm eligible for an upgrade but there nothing out there that blows this away yet IMO.

Phone is garbage going into 3rd phone in less than forty days. Supposedly one x is better but after reading specs I don't know vivid had had great features but my two had a mind of its own. Very unreliable unless you live in a metro area even then the ghost in the machine would appear just not as often.

hello everyone i have been using this set for over a month now and i must say it has been an amazing experience with this set.. the built quality is superb and despite of 177g weight it doesnt feel so when held all the features it has have just been excellent whether it is the camera, call quality, video playback etc the only issue i have been having is with it's battery life which is very poor (esp for a user like me who is coming from nokia e series sets) secondly the sound is not the loudest without headphone and the last most important issue is that the body is a fingerprint magnet but all in all this is one wonderful device that might go unnoticed with the release of quad core sets yet a pleasure to use 9/10

Um at&t gives me unlock codes all the time and I don't have AT&T service.just tell them you bought it and are going overseas.only tmobile and Verizon will not give you an unlock code unless you have an account.(by Verizon I mean the global series phones which are gsm and cdma.)

I had every Iphone except 3GS & 4S and decided to try an Android phone. The HTC Vivid blew me out of the water. I am running Ice-cream Sandwich and enjoying the heck out of it. Google's one place integration with android market for apps, music and move is a plus. Google's free Nav. with voice turn by turn. Vivid display :) Smooth menu flip through and relatively good battery life all a big plus. Could go on and on. But I am really enjoying my first android experience with the HTC Vivid.

The vivid is a complete package. It does show weather animations. It runs weather apps smooth especially on att's 3G. The battery life is better than ive experienced on any other HTC phone. Screen is very nice it lives up to its name "vivid." Beats audio is awesome, clear great sound. The os doesnt tend to freeze on apps or multitasking. I havent had any issues with it. Great solid phone. Only thing I would think to improve it would to add an extended life battery as an accessory.

love it so far, everything is done much easier with this, its a complete phone, the camera is good, the sounds are also very good, i dont feel much weight though it is stated in the review, the only con is the battery life, it can only stay one day, then definitely must charge.. overall its a good phone :)

Sturdy Solid phone, good features, nice camera/screen. One problem, after a month of use the "silver colour" on the volume rocker is starting to come off and is now looking a reddish brown rough colour. Horrible sight for the eyes. But all in all a very good phone. Battery Life isnt bad at all.

well, lot has been said about the design and the un HTC like build and use of materials, about the strange plateau like structure with the edges cut. but make no mistake, this has a solid build and delivers a great performance. It might not enhance the display like super amoled, but has a very good screen. yes, the only blemish I could see is the battery life, its little on the lower side. But with a screen size of 4.5, one cannot expect more than 4hrs of video...

The 256K color is an error spec posted on here. The phone's screen supports 16M colors. GSMArena should correct this. Check XDA and you will see. All the ROMs on the Vivid is supporting 16M colors.

when i got it, it was 199, with multiple data plans. with my existing plan it had a 15 or 25 dollar add on for different data amounts. i think there was a higher one too. not sure about the total cost because i don't pay for my phone on a month to month basis, sorry!

I'd get the Vivid if I were you. The xl may look good and have a large screen, but spec wise, it sounds like a phone that came out last year on paper. The XL screen resolution is not as good as it could be with 480x800 pixels, and the Vivid 540x960 qHD display. XL has 720p recording and the Vivid does 1080p @60fps. XL is single core and the Vivid is dual-core. Nuff said right there. XL does not have a memory card slot, where as the Vivid does. Besides a big screen, XL also offers Beats Audio, which is nothing more than a gimmick or an ego booster to me. If you good sounds coming from your phone, than just get better headphones. If you buy this phone, I can assure you that you won't be buying it for the specs. If anything, you'll get it for it's good looks and big screen, but that's it. Vivid all the way my friend.

Bought this phone 11/7. I'm coming off an iPhone and think this phone is AWESOME. Best feature is that it's fast in every way. I've hit as high as 44mb/s download and 13mb/s upload speeds on the LTE network. With speeds that fast, I no longer have a need for WiFi, which is a boon for those of us grandfathered in on unlimited data (although that comes with inability to use tethering or mobile hotspot). Markets supporting LTE are growing quickly on the AT&T network. CPU is fast. Camera is fast. ICS support coming 1Q12. Was $199 for me, but selling for $99 in areas that don't yet have LTE. You do NOT have to pay a premium to use LTE also. Although a tad large, I would say it is still easily within easy handheld and pocket storage comfort. For anyone looking to buy from this point forward, why buy a phone that does not support LTE with its 10x faster network speeds? With this phone, you'll fly past any iPhone user until Apple adds LTE support, which is 9 months out at best...if they do it in their next phone at all.
