  • Still using G8 and battering draining so fast, you can try some techniques .... Install apps like battery drainer or similar. Charge your phone like 85 to 90 % Now move to a well ventilated and cooled area, switch on fan and AC, remove any phone cover. To avoid any aftermath of over heating. You may wear gloves and eye protection :) Now the intention is to discharge the battery as fast as possible. So turn on all NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi hotspot, GPS, Full brightness Start battery draining app and switch on all possible things, if it is still not draining, turn on heavy graphic app or play video and switch between these apps. When battery level reach below 20 % re-start your phone. Make all settings back to normal. Remove any unwanted apps. Remove cache of apps using PhoneManager. Install AutoRunManager and disable auto runs of unwanted apps or apps you rarely use(Basic mode is enough). Now charge your phone to ~95%. Avoid charging overnight. Always Unplug when fully charged (better a bit less than 100%). Keep charging your phone frequently if possible. Try to charge when it falls below 40% always. Never allow to drop battery below 20%. Hope this should help to keep using your G8 or other older Android phone. :)

  • Same here. I am also using it since 2016. My phn dropped several times. In june,2018 it got run over by a huge truck and it was just beneath its large tire!! Surprisingly my phone still works. My other accessories with it got smashed. untill September 2019 I use it. Then after fall several times from my hand, the display got cracked and I have changed it this month. The main problem with my phone is it slow. And battery is draining severely. So, nowadays I think I will jump to another phone. But I will miss it. :)

  • Worst experience.. Huawei consistent on notworking on RAM 3gb ram and it gives u only 600-700mb free ram to run.. never go for Huawei untill it's ur last choice.. I don't recommend Huawei..get urself samsung or HTC it'll never disappoint

  • Im using G8 since 2016 until April 2019. My phone several time fall from my hand into the ground. Got crack at the left top of the phone. But Its still running well. Data, wifi, making call, receive call, camera and playing clash of clash on it not a problem. But a few month since Nov 2018-April 2019 my G8 having a bad issue, the battery drain so fast that i have to charge it 5-6 time per day sometimes more depending on my usage. Ive change the battery once but the problem still exist. During my daily usage, the phone hot while connect using data and replying my whatapp. The repairman said is cause of the motherboard. So i guess its time to me to change for a new phone and say good bye to my trusted lasting G8. Its a good phone.

I can say that it is a great phone, as somebody who used to shun Android I now will never purchase an iPhone and will stick to Android. The camera is amazing, with features such as "Good Food", "Beauty", and "HDR". In addition, it runs really smoothly, with no sudden system failures (as I have had with ALL of my Apple products in the past. Though it may not compare to newer models, for those looking for a cheap yet effective and long lasting phone it's a definite choice for you.

  • Well...I've been using this phone for almost 2 years now and ...I dropped my phone somewhere in August and my phone is bent.. after 3 months ...my camera started malfunctioning....it would not focus on pictures and it would shake non stop unless I put a magnet beside my camera.. right now....I don't have the time to go and check out what's wrong with my rear camera...I have a feeling that something broke inside my camera... something to do with the auto stabilizing mod....I hope to hear good opinions on how to fix this problem

  • I have been using this phone for 8 months now, i bought the phone due to the fact of the low market price and also the options and quality of the phone. (I live in the UAE) When i got the phone, i noticed immediately the building quality of the phone, which is quite very nice and solid, the finishing as well is very nice. Started using the Camera, on Daylight, camera is pretty much fine, however, on low light, things are not the same, its not bad, but photos are not bright and sharp as you may want them .. i think flash is a bit weak. Loading application, phone started to get bit heavy, but without freezing, still i enjoyed playing games on the phone, smoothly. Screen quality is very good, however, it lack brightness in sunlight, and you probably will need to increase brightness. Only when the software update came, everything changed, phone became very heavy, freezing all the time, phone turned to be a very annoying one. 2 weeks ago, the 6.0.1 software version was updated, i found it much better than before and phone started to perform much better (still have some problems) Finally, i am very satisfied with the phone compared to its price, i personally find Huawei the most reliable Mobile Manufacturer at the moment and would certainly buy the next phone from the same company.

It was marked X8, probably a mistake made by the shopkeeper. In the past I would never even consider buying a Huawei. I immediately bought it, only because it's actually a very beautiful phone. You have to see it in real to see what I mean. It's a real headturner. After 4 weeks of daily use it also turned out to be a very solid device. It also feels solid since it's made from 1 piece alumunium. The gold color is a very close match to the real thing. It also turned out to be slightly wider than most popular phones, since I had trouble finding a matching screen protector. That contributes to a nicer screen image. Good cameras too, even under low light conditions. Like this phone and I hope it will keep performing as well as it did in the past 4 weeks.

  • Big disappointment. I had a Sony Z3 previously which I was totally satisfied with. I just wanted the Z5 as I was confident I would get the same quality as the Z3. But the guy at the store told me the Sony phones were "not exciting". He was very unspecific about what that actually meant, but he seemed very excited about the Huawei G8. So after a lot of deliberation I went for the G8. The screen resolution did seem better, and without really testing it that's all I could go on. The processor is slow. It lags as I try to flip between apps. In app the scrolling lags. Sometimes the phones crashes. This NEVER happened with my Sony. The sound only comes out of one speaker at the bottom of the phone. The Sony Z3 had speakers on both ends and it gave that surround sound feel. Now I'm stuck with a phone I don't like for the next 18 months because of some idiot who likes "exciting" phones, but seems uninterested in actual functionality and quality.

  • Ive owned the G8 since early Dec 2016. Great little phone. I have a few issues with it however. First issue is the ring sound isnt loud enough, specially when the phone is in your back pocket or hand bag. You may hear it ring if you are in a shopping center with lots of noise (good luck with that one, Ive missed lots of calls and texts). I ended up having to download a ringtone that gets the best noise going so I can hear it. The other issue I found is the speakers are on the bottom of the phone. You may not see this as an issue at first (I didnt), but soon you will see this is a mistake by Huawei. The sound becomes muffled, the only way to deal with it was to have the phone upside down in my bag or pocket. I found following the GPS a problem, as I could hardly hear that either. I needed everyone to be quiet in the car and had to turn off the radio and air conditioning so I could hear it (not very convenient when you are trying to cope with a 36C day in Australia). As with nearly all Huawei phones the charging port is at the bottom of he phone, so again when on charge you have to have the phone upside down. Thankfully the phone comes with a automatic rotation, so not too much of an issue. Disappointed like the Mate 7 & 8 no removable battery, that was one of he reasons why I never upgraded to the mate 8, but appears that Huawei are not going to change this. Another disappointment was the screen size only being 5.5" rather than the larger 6", but this I guess is personal preference, so to me the G8 is a disappointment. Now Im getting rid of it and replacing it with the Mate 9. Next time I will stick to the devil I know than the devil I dont. But hey, if you got supersonic hearing, work and live in a quiet environment or have gaffer tape around your kids mouths, no problem! Plus if you dont care about the 6" screens, I would say this is a real winner of the other mobile phones out there. Its fast and responsive, but sometimes does have issue connecting to wifi.

  • No problem you can use mobile use from anywhere in the world if it's unlocked. Try to go to huawei German web site and find your model and search for latest software download extract in your pc you will find dload folder and copy it to SD card. Insert card phone. Go to settings find updates option. Then find local update. It's show SD card file install it. Wait for complete all process. You phone will be latest software. Before this process back up your all data on phone

  • unfortunately G8 has only two slots for either two sim cards or a single sim card and a micro SD (but with 32 GB SD card is pretty pointless). The required sim card however (for both slots) has to be a nano sim card, if you use a micro sim card it wont work

  • Hi there, I love mine. It is a good , strong and very reliable phone. I have not had one issue with it. Battery life is outstanding! It is better than my Samsung Galaxy S 7. It feels and looks premium.

  • Hello... This phone, a gift from my brother, was behaving pretty ok till about two weeks ago. Suddenly it was heating up unusually while charging. Though this heating problem has subsided more or less on its own, of late, I am noticing a very strange thing. The battery drains off completely by morning, even though when it would still have power at 60-70% the night before. I wonder where does the battery go even when the phone is not used during that time. I don't know what to do about it. I love this phone being a gift from dear bro and it's good too.   • Hey Andrew. I have had my Huawei G8 for a week now. I love it. When I first got it I had that "waves" thing happening with my camera. I called my carrier who had no answer and asked me to bring it in. I could not wait and I was enjoying a beer and wanted to continue to enjoy my beer. I went into my "Settings" and turned off "Optical Image Stabilisation" and it worked. Barring that you can "Restore Defaults" in your "Settings". Now the waves are not there and it takes beautiful pictures

  • so you wont find much reviews online, here's my two-cents. The G8 is a very solid phone. Battery will last you the day however charging time from 0 to 100 takes 3 hours if this bothers you then you'll have to look elsewhere. As for me, the charging time doesnt take away from the G8's value. Rear camera performance is awesome. Colors are rich and details are kept. Bit of sharpening but improves on the over-all image quality. Front camera is okay but definitely not the best. It works well on well lit rooms but struggles with details on darker rooms, as with any other phone at this price. Performance with the Snapdragon 615 will get you through normal daily usage. Heats up a bit but nothing to bothersome. Lot of reviewers hate on the EMUI but I find it to be a good UI specially if you manage to fix everything into folders, after that, the UI becomes easier once you're used to it. Sound from the speaker is loud although it sound a bit high but nothing too bad. Call reception is nice. Signal is good thanks to its 'dual antenna'. Looks is at par with more premium devices, everyone who sees my G8 seems to agree.

  • Love this handst, for the most part. It is fast, I can load it up and work it without it getting excessively hot, it has a nice UI, it, for me, specs up well for a mid range phone. Good volume, lots of cool features and fits in the hand well. Great screen resolution and contrast. Take good photos. The only cons for myself are call dropouts which have been localised to the handset (same issues with 3 G8 handsets) and EMUI, which the phone would do much better without. Lollipop is much more user friendly as a stand alone OS.

Loved the look and feel of the Huawei- it's very sleek and slimline, but now that I have it it is BIG! Ladies: it doesn't fit in many of the clutchbags which is a pain when you want to go out. Could only get a clear cover for it too, no fancy covers like Samsung and Apple phones. :( Camera is good- one of the main reasons for my choice. Colours are clear and true, and the many options to improve photos as you take them (beauty, good food) are great! :) The ability to take photo by touching Fingerprint scan on the back is great for selfies. :) Finding little things frustrating, but not sure if that's cos it's my first Android phone. Hate the location of the on/off button right next to volume. :( Not sure how to do screenshots. Can't allocate individual tones against contacts for both texts and phonecalls. Just one tone per contact. Audio recorder pics up lots of background noise. :( Limited built-in Emojis and can't access them on Google keyboard so had to download an Emoji app and use that as default keyboard. :( Can't comment on graphics etc as I don't use Games. Battery life seems Ok but I don't use many apps compared to some people. The poor staff in the phone shop must be sick of me coming in asking questions as the phone came with no instruction book or online help. I'm sure once I'm used to the phone I will love it. Overall good phone for the price. Give it a go :)

  • Go to Settings then scroll down to Language and Input. From here you can choose the language and also choose the keyboard type. I wanted to be able to use more Emojis than was available in the built in keyboard, so first changed to the Google keyboard (already installed). Couldn't find Emoji button on it. Ended up installing an Emoji app I downloaded and now use that as default keyboard. Hope this helps.

  • I have the 32gb 3 gb ram and this is my opinion. My opinion is based from someone coming from a Motorola moto g. Good: elegant design, fast and accurate fingerprint sensor, nice screen with vivid colors and ok battery life The average: camera and video, no much grip in the back, in occasions it could be a bit tricky to hold the phone. Speaker not great either The bad: Emui, huawei's personalisation for Android, it makes what it could be a fantastic phone, into a very slow phone that lags, I don't play games on my phone, I mostly use it for texting, calls, internet and the occasional photo and video and it just feels slow. Hope an update can improve some of it. Bottom line: great looking phone with a good battery life, decent screen and very fast and accurate fingerprint sensor. If u are planning to play games or use demanding apps, or if u are picky about photos, u may wanna look somewhere else.

  • AoA, hi friends I have been using G8 from 2 weeks 1. no heat issue 2. no software issue 3. sound is good, volume is loud and plays HD videos with ease 4. battery timing depends on the usage overall its battery lasts for 2 days on normal usage 5. have played almost all formats but have no Idea RMVB can be played or not, there was an issue in playing mkv format so I downloaded MX Player, than it was giving an error of AC3 audio file not supported, but I figured it out and download the codecs, now every thing is fine. 6. it lags sometimes, don't know why and it responds after 1 second on pressing volume low or high buttons when using Hands free, but the quality of sound is amazing. 7. Camera result is superb, sharp colors and quality is excellent, even low light images are good and front camera result is also decent you can say very good. 8. I think only sim 1 supports 4G, u can put 2 sims or 1 sim and a Micro SD card for more memory, but 32GB is more than enough i think. I think its a very good mobile in this price, definitely recommended. Regards......

  • This phone is great !!! The camera is fast and capture decent pics with Nice features but no slow mo vid capture. The performance is great. Fingerprint reader works perfectly. Battery life is just average. I would recommend this phone at its price range. Btw. I think the update fix the led notification . The notifications works fine now. The external speaker is kinda low but if you put your headphones in , the sounds is very nice.

  • Bought this phone as a replacement for my note 4 as it gets fixed in Warranty, I must say,I am totally surprised. For the price,this phone is a beast, has fun features. Battery is excellent. Camera is actually pretty good. Fingerprint reader is spot on. Screen and Build of phone feel premium. For a budget phone I feel that Huawei are pouring much more quality than premium. Snapdragon 615 of course is no snapdragon 805, but the difference is no deal breaker... Happy customer :)

  • you can use the sd card memory up to 64 GB. the sd card place is on the tray with the sim card.

  • Seemed like the G8 was the one I was looking for... The Huawei websites are rather ambiguous on the dual SIM / memory expansion issue. But I just found a Spanish shopping site (www.chollodigital.com) that spells it out: "Ranura SIM Dual SIM (Standby) Utiliza ranura microSD". This means: dual SIM = no memory expansion. Too bad!

  • 1) just to be clear g8 has the snapdragon 615 Not the 616 ,huawei says 615 and cpu z app shows its 615 2) battery life IS small ( 5h talk time ) the sites that says its long is because they only looked at the battery size (3000ma)and didn't actually use it 3) i don't know about heating problem

  • I can answer your first and second question: 1. the battery is good. you can use the phone for at least one day without any charging. 2. there is no heating problem. huawei do the improvement from chipset level to hardware level and software level. G8 is the first device to use Snapdragon 616, here one of the main improvement from 615 to 616 is power comsuption. huawei do a lot of work here.

  • i have been using this c5 for two week...well the major interest for me is good quality picture for both front and back camera. well c5 ultra kamera quality is decent...good color and contrast.only struggle a bit to take low light scene...but overall someone who like to selfie this is the best choice.   • Got G8 today (Gold color), must say it is pretty much excellent after using Samsung for so many years (Note 3 neo, Galaxy S4). The screen is soo smooth. It is hybrid dual sim (means u can use either a sim card and SD Card or use 2 Sim Cards without SD Card. So pretty much useful feature. 32 GB internal memory is owsum (24 GB user available) ... It is all metal body with a feel of high end mobile devices. Got it for 36K from singapore plaza with accidental coverage.

  • I really like how p8 and mate s have "im here" feature to find it. P8 however doesnt have fingerprint. Mate s does but to expensive and dont care for 2d touch or knuckle touch. I like fingerprint on huaweis cause unlocks phone even if screen off. So what im trying to say is, will this phone come with same fingerprint style, im here capability as well, and at least android 5.1 so i can also do multi screens and be at an affordable price?
