Huawei Mate X - User Reviews

  • Can Huawei have eSim?

  • Is Huawei Mate X 5G upcoming phone wireless charging support? How it's wireless charging speed?

  • Somebody know about any new of Mate X? We'r now on October...release nothing...so much expectative after for nothing..

  • About the battery, the thing is, you guys can borrow public power bank from almost everywhere in China right now. The people who still asking for the interchangeable battery and 3.5 headphone jack are just old generations with stubborn mind. And to be honest, every time I go overseas and feel super inconvenient for phone using.

  • What about video call need to chat in big screen....

  • so much hotter than Samsung Fold

  • Idk about fold but I believe the screen surface of mate x is made of plastic, which probably makes it not as prone to cracking as glass ones do. Most things are still speculation though.

  • The main camera IS the selfie camera buddy. That makes the selfie quality 3 times better than your basic selfie lens.

  • Why only 1 color?

  • Sorry sent before completing... Mate x design makes him more vulnerable, while fold design has his cons too...

  • Foldables are still totally unmature, mate x design

  • Well im getting frustrated about waiting for such a constipated excitment phone that they promise they will come out by July but was canceled and now they prosbound to see the phone available by september but we don't hear any news or no nothing.. Its already Septemeber.. So the point is... why are they promising so much this and that which ends up been all a lie ? IF if the phone has issues.. WHY not fix these things during the making of the huawei mate x BEFORE you end up promoting it to the public. Dont just create this phone halfway point while same time your announcing it.. How about smart busienss with a brain to create a phone. Test it a million times and then if the project works well... then promote it aventually. Dont just promote things and then act like there are issues with screens or something... which proves that busienss are lazy in testing thier own projects properly. This is starting to make me believe should i even trust huawei and samsung... if they create this phone... why don't they test the phones many times before they end up promoting things when more likely they going to have issues the following day. This proves they are lazy company people who dont bother testing... im not going to spent 2000 dollars for a folding phone when more likely it might defect and break apart... Do your homework Huawei and Samsung.. do your homework... BEFORE you begin to promote things and release dates.. How about create a new folding phone and then test the phone a thousand milion times to make sure there are no issues with the models and then release your annoucement to the public. Just dont act like nothing will happen wrong. Course now im starting to think if i was to get this phone the screen might break apart.. dead pixels.. or anything.. So that is risky and costly and you have no idea how much it will cost you all to repair such a damn phone. Plus expect a 2 or 3 months or more until you get your fix phone back. Just wait and see that when people begin to complaint about the phone not working properly... This is why i argue that companies should wake up to themselves without wasting peoples time... Create a folding screen phone AND then test the phone project a million times.. Not a dozen times.. but much more then that to be precies with your technology... Anyways i rather end up going back to the old days of a motorola brick phone. At least its strong and durable.

  • If there is no Stereo speakers as in Sorround sound top and bottom just like what Samsung has on most traditional phones.. then i tell you this Huawei mate x is a kimmic and rubish. Why spent that much money when it may sound like a mono and might not even have top and bottom speakers for clear sorround sound. Why bother get this folding screen phone if it doesnt have a 50x zoom lense camera.. or one of it's kind like (pro30) has. So these things are good. what else do they expect to shove on a phone knowdays.. a damn toaster with a cord attach to it.. seriously why should we all wait when we dont no nothing whats going on. I think 2019 has been the worse year ever for many of us.

  • This waiting senario is totally boredness and it is no wondr why now... the big mistake and the big problem for Samsung and Huawei.. Is that people where looking forward to get the Huawei mate x on a contract or to buy outright. But since there was a delay previewsly.. and now it seems it is delayed twice again with no hope of seen the phone by September now... Why bother waiting.. Most people need a phone and a new style but since many people dont like waiting because delays and so on with the companies such as this.. Then it's no wonder why Samsung and Huawei are slightly loosing people for this type of phone that once was promised to be out in the market. So aventually people will just "Give up" waiting and people just go buy a new diferent type of phone or under a contract. I don't blame these who left the hope for Huawei mate x... I am almost to the nerve and point of leaving and dont bother with a flexible bend screen. So why bother waiting this is nothing upsolute NOTHING new. Just like Samsung they delay new model tv's models.. this and that issues... And believe it or not Samsung had a big issue with the preview phones batteries... lets see the reason why this time Samsung is now delaying thier new folding screen phones... This is how they loose many fans. They go with another brand and less stress bothering of waiting for so long. Well with Huawei already enough BIG problems as it is with USA and all that... no wonder why they are also delayng this model phone. Why bother annoucing things IF YOU DONT PROMISE the dates. Dont just promote and make people all excitement.. because if you lie... your simply going to have many likes of this phone (boring and why bother waiting for a folding screen) since they never promise what they say in the first place. I rather go back to the brick Motorola phone and forget that anything else looks like a toy in 2019 and beyond.

  • They should give a stereo speaker and a selfie camera

  • Thank you! Same here, this is making me nuts. No headphone jack? Seriously? I haven't even touched a 3.5mm jack since 2014, we have bluetooth and these ports let dust and moisture in. Banish them! 2019 flagship fold screen phone, why would one keep this old school trash in? So I can watch a video in 4k on my high-end 2019 phone... and listen to tin can audio on my gas-station-grade earbuds from china like it's 2010? get yourself some decent Bose or Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones with bluetooth aptx and arrive in the real world. I never looked back. Not once did I miss that on my current P20 pro, I didn't even unpack that absurd adapter. Same with battery capacity. I'm a heavy user, I have been carrying power banks for years and I don't care. It runs out? The 10.000mAh I bring with me everywhere I go will take care of this. People need to stop whining and get a spirit for technology. I just have a MAN-PURSE to carry all these things with me.

  • Pulling these things out of thin air, why? Can't afford one? What exactly is limited on this device? Android has multi window. Check out Leena or Sentio desktop, it will transform the way you use your phone and multi-task. Not "much difference" to a ordinary phone? Yes, aside from the outrageous design and never-been-done-before folding mechanism with latest panel technology of course. "folding screen meant to look like a mini tablet but that is nothing unusual." nothing unusual, yes, I see them everywhere. My grandma just got her second Royole FlexPai and she's bored of it already. "There are competitors and you can not destroy traditional phones yet." You absolutely can, Multi-tasking and nearly double the screen real estate, camera hangs with the best and specs are great. Yes, there is competition, but these specs are only "standard" for enthusiasts, average joe doesn't spend this much money on a phone and does not have this tier of power and specs in his pocket. That makes this an absolute beast of a phone in practice, doesn't matter if other phones match or beat it in theory. If I whip out my folding 8 Inch phone with 8 GB RAM, Kirin 980 and Infrared Port It will outclass probably 97% of other phones that other people around me have. Next paragraph I just disagree completely, do you have any idea how many manufacturers recall cars after decades of developement? battery failures like on the note 7 or cracking panels like early samsung prototypes are normal. Show me one category of technology that doesn't have these issues. It's normal and they obviously showed it earlier to create hype, they are a smart company and hype on social media is free marketing. Whats the alternative, be in the unknown and then sink billions into marketing because no one heard of your phone? They did nothing wrong imo. "people will not bother waiting and they eventually end up buying traditional phone instead. Since people do NOT wish to be time wasted. Think about this." Well, I'm waiting so there's one. I won't buy anything else until I have gotten my hands on a Mate X, which I'll probably buy. People wait months for games, that's laughable. But it makes sense to delay and improve something as much as possible, if needed. They can take their time until 2020. You need to learn the difference between technology in the white world and the black world. We are spoon fed progress and actually 20 years ahead. For example, I read people complain about plastic screen. I agree, this is why they are working on hybrid glass that can fold and once that is out I know what to replace my future Mate X with. You GO IN and buy anyway, that's life, you need to try things out and see how they work out. This is why I'm not crying "oh no it will scratch who's gonna help me then???" or "it's soo expensove omg omg", I'm going after this and I will buy. This is pioneering, these are advancements we need to have and this is why this isn't just a gimmick on a phone, this is a snapshot of the future.

  • This whole senario about foldable screens doesn't mean it will have all the features that a ordinary traditional phone will have... Tho only limited of things. If this phone was to have everything a traditional phone offers plus a fordable screen. Plus a good zoom lens camera... then the rest of all traditional phones will be old looking. But that won't happen and the main scenario about this fordable screen is that its just a fordable screen but that does not mean it will have everything or greater then any traditional phone in the market. Its all limited when a phone comes out. So there won't be much of a differences then a ordinary traditional phone. The only differences you will find about this phone is nothing more then just a folding screen meant to look like a mini tablet but that is nothing unusual. People assume that this is the new technology when all your going to experience is nothing more then a folding screen. But the rest of the stuff built in is just like a ordinary traditional phone. It's not like as if this phone will do far more then a traditional phone. There are competitors and you can not destroy traditional phones yet. Also since there is just delays over nothing and all this comercial hights about the recent shown huawei mate x and then you hear they have change things. I seriously dont understand why is all the fuzz about showing something if your going to continue to change your mind by changing something else on this model phone... Don't show this model and shouldnt have shown this in the first place if you are to change our mind later by re-doing this model phone or hardware... I just don't get it. You obviously huawei was not fully ready about this phone but that you should of not teased us with such a demo phone when you end up wanting to change your mind by re-doing the phone and hardware.. Just makes no sense... Wouldn't it be better to just design the phone carefully... do 100s of times test.. thats why your a big company... And then add what is needed such as hardware and everthing.. BEFORE you end up showing the world demo phones of the actual thing when its not even design properly yet or half way to your work. Your giving away too much info for other companies such as Motorolla and LG and so on to copy your technology because you where half way making this phone and all of suddent you rushed to show the world about it. Why not show the phone at the time when you KNOW that the phone does NOT need no more fixing and no more hardware work have to built in. Also i don;t understand how a big company such as Huawei could end up having issues with the phone once you gave denos world wide and then realise later it seens there are issues with the screen and now you are to re-do the whole phone design to starting point.. A big company with so much money.. why dont they just test them a miliion times in a labaratory where they make the phones BEFORE you do the ridiculous of showing the phone and letting people touch it.. It just makes no sense... It is Huawei responsability to test them themselves BEFORE you begin to post them to people to try the phone out. You dont just make a phone and then you careless about testing a milion times in the labaratory before you post them to people.... Just makes no sense.. Thats why there is this odd about delays all the times with phones.. Because companys are slack in testing the phones properly . But of course they end up having to re-do the phone once the phone comes out. Just makes no sense.. It is best to test it hard enough before you anounce the phone and before you begin to post them to people for a drive test. Thats how you make it full clear view of what your going to sell. Anyways all this delay is because of that. Now this means Huawei and Samsung are starting to loose some ratings slowly over this phones.... at the start the whole world wanted this phone (months ago) once they announced it. But since there is so much delays and i think it is rather silly for the delay... the whole waitinga nd waiting means people would not wait around and eventually thousands of people will not bother waiting and they eventually end up buying traditional phone instead. Since people do NOT wish to be time wasted. Think about this. You want to make good money fast and have the whole nation to your folding phone ... well you shouldnt have to muck around by changing your mind changing this or that hardware and the delays... Think before you make any changes... i hate when companies do that all the times.. they promote.. so excited but later they change the minds and thats where the time wasted begins by delaying everything. Nothing new.. no wonder why this world is lack on technology.. since we havent had a human back on the moon recently yet and mars yet. Thats how slow technology seem to be on earth.

  • atleast worth wise it should come with 16GB ram and 92% body to screen ratio.. comparing to its price tag

  • ThatÂ’s what Bluetooth is for i dont use headphone jack anymore

  • Headphone jack seems to have become history... I like listening to music while I am charging my phone in the same time. I, also, don't like the idea of removing the headphone jack, but what can we do...? We have to go with the flow(or better said...with the flaw?).

  • Being on the go, when I video talk with the loveones, them beeing faraway for a long time, miles away from me, I would love seeing them on a bigger sceen... Video call is nicer on a bigger sceen, and two video(camera) windows cramped on a small screen it is not fun. So, if the Huawei provided us with a gadget that transform itself into a tablet(having "transformers": smartphone into tablet), why not have the all(complete) package: with a selfie camera into tablet mode?

  • No 3.5mm, no way!

  • Why you need to take selfie when it is unfold? Folded has better grip.

  • It lakcs IP68 Water Resistance, but also needs another camera, more exactly a selfie camera in tablet mode. The phone when it is fully open doesn't have a selfie camera. It needs a selfie camera in tablet mode, in this mode: Add this ones and I will definitely buy it.

  • There's another problem with this Huawei. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold, it folds outwards. So basically, you are using half of the screen to fold the phone to the back. Imagine what would happen if you dropped that phone. For once, I really do applaud Samsung for taking a rather more practical approach with the little screen when folded. It might look ugly, but at least the screen inside it wouldn't be hurt too much.

  • The biggest negative about anyt Folding screen phones is that as an example this Huawei mate x makes it look cheap on the screen. The screen has too much reflection and it looks like a plastic screen. The device looks cool But the screen isn't so cool. Too much plastic making it the obvious thing that most people will begin to complain about soon. That is the most annoying part of a folding screen such as MATE X. Even the Samsung model has the same problem. Making both phones look like a toy. And annoying unable to view the screen properly if outdoors because the so much reflection all over the screen. Considering it is plastic and not hard glass screen. At this moment i don't bother buying the device because of the screen would be annoying. The reflection would be the most annoying and the screen touched wont feel nothing like hard glass screen. Taking note of that one.

  • Galaxy Fold or Huawei Mate X?

  • Folding

  • Don't no what to say about this new first fordable screen mobile phone. Just looks a little bit more of a gimmick like some have claim. I believe your just basically paying more just because it is a fordable screen. But the specs will decently be no different then any traditional android mobile phone in today's market. So perhaps be aware of that before you really want to spend on something that isn't going to be a complete change other then just a basic fordable screen. If you get bored quickly with your other traditional phones you just brought before.. You will too be bored with this Huawei Mate X as well quickly or eventually. These fold-able screens really needs to improve much better then what your seen today, Early days yet. I agree with some of you users that the screen looks cheap looking.. Just special plastic impaired into a phone. Quickly to be scratched if your not too careful course i haven't seen no screen protectors been invented or made as yet for a foldable phone and if you can't find any of that in the market yet... expect to take care of your new MATE X carefully course quickly it might end up been scratch and you might end up been disapointed that you can't return the phone back if you where to scratch the screen or damage it from heavy use and constantly . I reckon it is not good to rush into so desperately wanting a fold-able phone. They are here to stay and there will be more options out into the market eventually one after another model. Because i bet you that many people around the world will eventually be very disappointing feeling that having a traditional latest android phone would be MUCH more manageable and far more comfortable to use everydays and all the times. The fold-able screen phone just... looks more a bit like a mini tablet screen but without the wide screen looks. (depending how you want to view it from) I also agree that all they doing is add a higher price for nothing a higher price for just a fold-able screen that is a plastic folding screen. Note: It isn't glass screen and glass screen can't be fold-able (maybe one-day) But not yet anyways. So my opinion is why bother be excited when half we know is nothing much about the phone specs to be true. Also why bother wait when you can get the latest Huawei android phones. I can not imagine anything big change from a fold-able screen. It will just be the same specs as any original phone but only change is that it's just basically a fold-able plastic screen and perhaps drain it's battery quickly which might be annoying to most of us. So until there is more foldable screens then at this stage there is Samsung and Huwei but it's too early and usually first foldable screens ever been release will aventually be bad phones.. Just like new technology that comes out. Huawei and Samsung are independently alone in the making of each own fold-able screens and that it is new so.. It is what it is for the meantime as i wrote this. If all companys such as OPPO and LG, Windows phone and other brands then i presume there will be a much better understanding with fold-able screens and much better spectrum when it comes adding up. But for now its small. I can't possibly think that Mate X will be any BIG change... It will still be the same as a traditional phone and all your looking at is a fold-able screen but nothing much else is change if unless they added a million GB of ram and so on then i guess that is a different question or if the fold-able screen is steady and strong touched screen. Instead of plastic and soft touched which may end up feeling as it your pressing the screen too hard killing the ink that is inside the screen whatever you want to call that. The Mate X might simply feel too soft touched on screen due to been a plastic screen. Take note at that. When you touch a remote control tv that has a small LCD screen... mostly these remote control tv with a tiny screen display are actually plastic. When you press the screen... it will feel as though your actually sinking the the screen making it as if the stuff your looking on the screen is "smear" at the point of touched. As that would easily damage the viewing point of a screen eventually it might kill it and not only it might end up pixelated :) but might look greyish implemented marks on a screen from touching the screen so much. Because it is plastic. Not Glass which means Glass is stronger and you can easily touch the screen without a problem and not damaging the vivid colour your looking at on screen or damage the screen as plastic will indeed make the screen eventually smear.. You get my point. So like you and like me we are all sceptical and though i wouldn't bother with the waiting for so what excitement phone. These fold-able phones are here to stay so it's not the end of the world. Your traditional phone of today is much enough advance then you can think of. Not just from a basic fold-able screen made of plastic screen. Seriously. So not sure what is the fuzz about a foldable screen. My 32 inch sizes curved monitor computer is good enough haha. ill spend my money on a lifetime travel overseas... course phone will make me brain dead.

  • It is posible that the Samsung and Huawei to be release on sale into the market quickly next month August. Samsung foldable phone around 14th of aug while the Huawei mate x to be release to the market around 21/22th of Aug. So all dates are about 1 week diferences and this is a references. (Not the September release as people claim) Middle of Aug is what you would expect. And these who say (there has been a delay on both company phones for the foldable screens) is actually not true. You see Huawei may already indeed made more then 5.000+ and more Mate X already been packaing in the box with it's essentials. If for some reason there was a delay on such thing then they would have to take out more then 5.000+ more Mate x phones out of the box to fix everything up to sqaure one. And that isn't posible. Huawei already made it clear and also made it totally aware of any virus and any potiential issues with the screen prior before packaing them. The packaing them all and more yet to make where packeged months ago. That's how long it takes to package 5.000 + more phones into each box with it's essentials. It takes aprox 2 months or so from the factory. So there is no need for Huawei to unpacke everhting again just to re-fix something.. if that was to happen then the Huawei mate X phone will defently not be reliease into the market for another 2 or 4 months time. So that isn't going to happen because Huawei is in the beat with Samsung as competitor wars... Huawei doesn't want to delay its technology for consumers.. It is why Huawei wants to be number 1 leaders in the world not to let Samsung beat first. So think again... if there was a delay it would have to be the screen and its features... Huawei would had fix that pruior before packging and all the test requierement months and months ago before creating them and testing them before packing them. It takes months to make the phones and to package each one carefully in its own boxes with the essentuials.. If for some reason there was a indeed delay on allready made mate x phones then this means the phone can not be release anytime soon and not even Septemeber.. it would take months later. So that i don't believe so. That's how long it really takes to make many copy phones and thats how long it takes as well to packing them. I do beleive Huawei already have Most more then 5.000 Mate x already packaged in each box. So it be pointless to un-do everything again otherwise there be a big delay and there for Huawei will be frustrated not catching up. So people have to be careful what they saying... Companys such as Huawei always test the phone for sometime... folding them 1000 times.. checking to see if there is anything missing and requiers more hardware and software fixing PRIOR before packing. Thats how company's works. Otherewise it be a bad company if they didn't fix and test things BEFORE it was pack in it's box So now u know and you can asure to relax about that as no delay is required. We have the best technology as far as we know as of i wrote this. However.... i do know Samsung will release the phone first before Huawei does.. But it wouldn't make much of a differences between the 2 competitors... After all one releases first week before the other releases a week later. But i do believe Mate X will be much winner from consumers.. Mainly because it does look slightly modern from todays standard compare to the Samsung making it quickly looking old fashionable piece of device. You select which is better!

  • Hello there folks. I agree as well. I wouldn't want to pay well over 2000 dollars just for a mobile phone that has a foldable screen. I agree that at that price if the camera itself doesn't feture the same as Huawei p30 pro with the 50x zoom or greater then this Mate X will of couse be useless and just a gommik at this stage. If im going to be paying that much i do expect to have a good zoom. Not just 10x zoom. Because any traditional phone already have 10x zooms and most of the traditional phones don't cost as much as this Mate x. Basically your just paying more mainly because of the foldable screen that does indeed look plastic. (Not glass screen) Of course people would expect this expensive and first Huawei foldable to do much more then just a foldable screen itself. You would expect good camera optional. Zoom would be essential but it be silly to say it would just have a 10 or 15x zoom. When you can get the Huawei P30 pro with a 50x zoom and the phone isn't as expensive as this foldable Huawei mate x. I believe from all the frustration most people are is that we are just waiting to play with the phone... But the truth comes out onces its available so we will see what more it can do other then just a foldable screen. Because i do believe that aventually after i have used this Mate x.... all im going to end up is getting bored with just a foldable screen made of plastic screen and that i would notice that i would rather have better features.... Zoom is essential for photo shots and video recording and stereo sound speakers rather then speakers a the bttm of the screen. So.. What do you think? Do you think yet at this stage foldable screen(s) such as Huawei mate x is worth it or... perhaps wait the next 2 years or so to see more optionals in the market as it is rather early stages and usually first new technology coming out will aventually get old and outdated looking devices.. (Think of the first Iphone that came out in 2007 or something like that and how tiny the phone really was..... It quickly in only less then 2 or 4 years after that and the first iphone that came out was useless because it was tiny while 2 or 4 years later down the track iphones became far greater and much bigger screen sizes. So if you can compare that with the first new Huawei mate x foldable screen... perhaps in the next 2 or 4 years from now as we speak... may as well be that the Mate X be rather outdated looking device because it may look plastic screen and other things... while 2 or 4 years from now foldable screen(s) would be far much greater and better then the first one that came out. However that is my opinion at this stage im curiosity and want to try out the Mate x.... Just like i did when i was curiosity to try out the first iphone that came out into the market some years ago... But i did quickly notice 2 years later Apple wasn't my thing and i end up Android with a bigger screen phones.... So perhaps if i was to buy the Android Huawei mate X today (once it comes out into the market) i might eventually get bored with it or i might eventually not like it in 2 years time or less and end up wanting to buy something much advance or bigger type foldable screen phone instead. Just like it would go with the same with the first iphone that came out.. Which in fact i hate and destroy Apple as i am not a fan. I am a Android lover and so do you :). Last and all... I would not want to pay too much just because it might only be of the foldable screen. If im going to pay that much today (at the time i wrote this 2019) i would expect the Huawei mate x phone to do MUCH more then just a folding screen. And i believe everybody after all would agree with me on that. Specially like ive state in relation to the Camera... Not much zoom or it does on the Mate x ? Will see but if it doesn't have the best camera zoom as an example option then i would rather wait for a better newer foldable screens in the near future.. Because at that higher price as of 2019 you expect the phone to have greater camera features... Otherwise you be fool to pay too much for just a phone that has a foldable screen which looks dodgy and plastic from my opinion. Will see :) You might end up saying well im laughing in 2 or so years from now.. and say... well the first ever foldable screen was so plastic and stupid.... Because in the future doldable screens will be far better then the first one that came out. Just saying if i could see myself saying that in the future. Just like from a SD flat screen tv in 2008 to a far better 8K flat screen today. See the diferences. Now im laughing why i spend 4.000 dollars on a SD HD flat screen tv when i have a better 8K tv. But then again it might as well go on with the same from 8k to perhaps a 12k. I can't keep up with technology from VHS recorders to 4K ULTRA dvd recorders..... Well what can i say that's my story for now and i do expect Huawei mate x to be a good hit. i mean if i was to select Samsung first foldable screen vs the first Huawei mate X foldable screen phone i would indeed select the MATE X because it looks far more advance looking compare to the Samsung making it look like it might quickly end up outdated old fashionable looking device in just less then 2 years time which doesnt look modern.. Just looks thick and small screen from the front folded part of the screen making it soon to be the worst Samsung foldable screen if you where to see yourself looking at that phone in 2 or 4 years from now. So at this stage Huawei Mate x wins due to the thin screen phone looking device + bigger screen sizes with 80% no frames around it. So long folks :)

  • If you cant afford it. Just like any traiditonal phone. Why not go on a contract by your phone provider. That is if your phone network provider will have the mate x or not. One thing im skeptical is that the screen looks cheap and the feeling might not be as what you expected.. It might just feel plastic.. Try doing that touch any plastic and feel the differences. It wont be glass because you cant bent glass. Plastic will. But plastic will be scratch far quickly to anything. Look at anything flat plastic touched and see how scratch it is over time. Thats why im skeptical about this new technology. After all all your looking is nothing unusual other then a foldable screen made of plastic which might feel like a toy. But caution on the feel of the screen and the quickly how it might be scratched at anything from your nails to putting the phone in your pocket which rubs the material against the screen. I think the whole foldable phone(s) is a gimmick for the meantime until they come up with a much stronger un-scratcable screen. In the long run it will be better then the first one that came out which is this. Reviewing videos.. notice the reflection against the screen. It might bother many people. Go outdoors and if the sun reflect it or any light around the screen will be far too unclear to view from your naked eye to the screen if it was to look at the screen from left or right side of the screen directly. Far too much reflection which obviously you see the differences.. (special plastic implemented on a foldable screen) Not as strong feel and might bother some people. Also the feel might not be stability nor strong feel to the finger against the screen... Because it is not glass screen like traditional phones.

  • The Specs has just came out to social media. However im still trying to figure out does this foldable phone has zoom for photo/video on camera settings? Huawei P30 pro has a 50x zoom but i wonder if the MATE X has the same or greater considering this phone will cost far more.. And to see if its worth it or not. Too much of how many pixels does the camera contain but doesn't mention how many zoom does each lens does for taking photos and video recording. Someone might know yet?

  • 2300$ ?!!!!! wooooow huawei is crazy. thanks, but i prefer buy a OP7 and save my money

  • Wow we can now break displays on both ends

  • Magic...

  • Waaaaay better than Samsung's Fold Fiasco

  • obviously

  • How does it work?

  • You are right.

  • Imagine this (initial priced 1500euros+++) to hit just 800+++ euros range. It may very well kill off US manufacturers as well as Korean makers like Samsung to recreate something of this caliber and at that pricing without any repercussions. Dun forget, trade ban is one stupid move made by a more developed country whose exchange rates is so much higher and based against. If the Chinese wanted to kill off US in the trade ban dispute, they can just slash this at a damn attractive sales price to kill off Apple, Samsung or any other from coming close with their new OS or other out there in the market on par with Google capabilities. GG Google, iOS and US.

  • I'd take this over that galaxy fold but with that Google ban. Never would happen. :/

  • rip huawei

  • This is definitely my next phone.. no rivals can match up to it! Even if it does not support android due to Trump's personal business matters, I'm ready to test a new os like tizen or firefox on this device.

  • Correct. I use 3 time's of iPhones, already have an badly drain battery. Next year I'll use huawei.

  • Huawei is better and so fast...........iphone always drain battery problem ,also too slow

  • You can say that...Trump bans is going to cause Huawei a lot of troubles but I have a feeling that soon and very soon enough it will be the US that will be troubled the most! The Chinese [technically] know how play their game!

  • Bruh can you even read?

  • Screen is always the biggest drain on the battery and this screen is HUGE! It's always the top of the list of battery drain in every phone I use.

  • The phone that died before launch...

  • Screen size does not affect battery usage. And the resolution isn't that high. A 4500 mAh battery is way more than enough for it.

  • Actually, jz a merchant however not involved in any minds of spy!

  • Because it's thinner than fold

  • I want it Like really I want it now

  • 4500mAh isn't very good, considering the fact it has a 8 inch 2200x2480 display. but unlike Samsung, or apple, this thing has a very high ppi density.

  • If you can find a firsthand user, that is.

  • I sure hope Huawei was serious when they said they're not following the law that requires Chinese products to be able to spy on other nations. Between Galaxy Fold and this, a wider screen sounds really nice.

  • I have actually seen the opposite, not in terms of speed (negligible difference, if exists), but in terms of app features. It totally depends on what you use, but for me, an app in Android, more often than not, has offered better features than in iOS.

  • Getting 2nd hand of this next year, I hope second hand can be below 1000 usd

  • then use nokia 3310 so you dont have to complain

  • My only issue is that the unfolded screen might have been larger. The folded phone can be 6 inches and unfolded can be twice the size of that. What about that!

  • Also mate x has bigger screen, I like big screen, Samsung is 7.3 inch screen, that's about the size of a mate 20 X. That means the Samsung fold might fit in your pocket, then what's the use of the folding feature?

  • Now this is what I call innovation. Better than Samsung fold. Samsung fold has small front screen, big ugli notch that for once actually legitimately blocks the display, and breaks as I mentioned. Whereas this one has no notch, 2 front screens and did not break during gsmarenas preview. Samsung one is quite good but those 3 points would probably make some people like me not buy it. Also Huawei got creative with the phone and introduced a 3 screen system, 1 main screen, a front screen and another smaller screen at the front.

  • I am using samsung galaxy s9 and and iPhone xs and my wife is using OnePlus 6. I love both ios and android. Android for file manager, sharing files and ios for every other thing. In my personal opinion every single app is running smooth and better in ios than android.

  • it didn't break since it wasn't been allowed to be touched by media since it still in the production phase unlike the Samsung that is trying to test the water by giving samples to some big names , im not a fan to anyone and I have oppo device

  • Clash of clans

  • The lady in the video goes crazy when she says that Android apps are atrocious in compared to corresponding iOS apps. Name one popular app that is way better in iOS than in Android.

  • Much better than Galaxy Fold. Galaxy fold has small front screen, look quite ugly with big ass bezel that block the screen, and BREAKS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-ROgEEBSEU). Whereas, the Mate X didn't break during GSMArena's review. Some of yall say it has huge crease but Samsung also has crease. Its first generation, just like first generation phone, don't expect anything to be perfect, but companies should at least try the best they can. Also what am I doing here I cant afford any of the phones here :( P.S this is my 100th comment :]

  • Where did you get this information? Let's wait and see

  • It has a crease

  • So does the Huawei

  • and now the galaxy fold breaks!

  • yes i too will wait for the 2nd Gen that will contain fixes over the prototype

  • No crease like the X.

  • Yeah thick af, thick bezels, small front screen, ugly notch and huge gap. Huawei mate X is way better than this hotmess

  • LMFAO! Price is enough to make a downpayment for a house or a vehicle (car, truck,SUV). Definitely consumers will have to think hard on this.

  • Reviews are in today. Best fordable phone. doesnt have a major cease like the Huawei

  • It can fit in your hand well

  • Why is a sqaure

  • no wonder sam'sdung wont allow people to review it becasue they knew it was bad than Huawei Mate X

  • Not really the crease in fold is worse

  • It does and it will.

  • crease wont show up worse than galaxy fold

  • What's bad with Motorola? They have great build quality for example, the Moto E2, I keep it in case my Samsung Galaxy J7 Core ever stops working. The Razr series on Android was very good.

  • Motorola! seriously ?? Get a samsung, man! Samsung better than both Apple & Huawei.

  • Does it come with an ironing kit for that crease?

  • 295g is crazy!! I've been using the Mi Mix 3 for 2 months now and its like almost 220g, and its already killing me lol. Coming from a OnePlus 3T which was about 160g i believe? Maybe a bit more, it takes getting used to. Even now i'm thinking of selling it off but we'll see.

  • Nice to see such technology advancement but practicality wise, it's irrelevant. This thing weighs 300g!

  • my woooooools.....

  • I agree

  • My mind spins back and forth: you sound serious, but it is not possible. (I can read web page and watch youtube simultaneously on my PC, but I never do it)

  • I will wait for the second hand of it next year

  • for 2300euro you dont get headphone jack lmao

  • YouÂ’re so full of it. You really think youÂ’re going to talk s—- about a company, walk out of an interview, and still get the job? Lmao yeah, they just needed you THAT bad! Lol

  • Use usb type c and stop complaining

  • No headphone jack??

  • Huawei are overrated. Build quality sub par compared to other manufacturers. The screen flickers as if the display is going to stop functioning as many people have pointed out. Never going to buy a Huawei phone. Only Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and LG for me.

  • They both need an ironing kit. I don't really care about the brand name like you do. If the product sucks, I'm not gonna defend it like a blind sheep. In this case, that wrinkle in the middle is HIDEOUS! I always say what's on my mind, even if people don't like it. You should have seen me at an interview when I found out that the job I applied was for crapple. I told them apple products are too restricted for my IQ and I only use android phones. And I left. The next day I got the job but I rejected it.

  • I think your in the wrong place maybe try the fold

  • Hahahah lmao nice one man

  • that's cool, i think. and i hope it will be released soon in Indonesia. but i'm curios about the protection of the phone like tempered glass/ case. how the design is like.

  • I really hope that it comes with a free ironing kit for that huge wrinkle in the middle of the display.. BLEAH!!!

  • Apple will release something like this and the price will probably be at least 10,000 dollars. Lol

  • This is the perfect phone for me, well, if I ignore the price >.

  • I'm almost certain that Samsung announced an unfinished product to "beat" Huawei and my guess is that they also know that Apple has a similar Technology coming up or even already finished too.

  • Lol!

  • Certainly a better design then Samsung Galaxy Fooled. Though the battery should have been higher... and the price... could have been lower. 'nuff to say I'll be dreaming about it!!!

  • If you read through the specs and features of this phone you will find all the sensors you listed as available on this phone. Its not Samsung "flagship", Its Huawei Mate X.

  • Why not iris scanner/proximity/compass/berometer sp02 ETC. ? Why lots of sensors not in the big phone? Please answer and compass and gyro its most useful sensors..and u also use finger scannr in display why it use in side..😢🤔👏

  • Half of the screen can be used to watch YouTube videos and other half to use and scroll up and down web page simultaneously. Awesome device!

  • You can fold the phone/tablet, you don't need a selfie camera

  • bcuz the front camera and the selfie camera is the same if the fold

  • Because it uses the same powerful 40MP camera as the selfie camera and has a 6.4" screen as the view finder screen in Selfie Mode. The most powerful selfie camera.

  • True

  • Can I ask something?? Why there's no selfie camera?? 😊

  • Wow, a great staff there! I love it but it is very expensive. We heard of this first from Samsung but it has been possible so soon early this year and all the great and the leading phone companies are doing it. I hope Apple will follow soon. I love the new technology of the fastest charging on the tablet/Phone. I hope they put this in all their other flagships. 85% charge in 30 minutes for that big battery amazing. Huawei you are my best company always doing great research. Thank you but am waiting for the P30 pro. I love that design.

  • Wow, so this thing has finally arrived. Great staff there with the fastest charger ever. Great staff indeed but very expensive. I hope the fastest charging technology will be in the P 30 too. Actually I am waiting for the P 30 pro

  • Oled is easy to fold but who can provide the flat display? No one. Innovate means they already solved the wrinkles and do not makes prototype to cheating people.

  • Well worth the investment! Apple needs to complete the equation as Huawei Mate X is THE Android foldable phone.

  • Still on your falsehood and misinformation.

  • All those 3 are the kings of innovations.

  • Wrinle King for Fold-phone Third place: Samsung First runner up: Huawei Champion: Xiaomi Winner: can someone fill in this columns?

  • If you have extra $2600 go ahead

  • SAMSUNG is going to launch a foldable phone with the screen fold outwards like HUAWEI Mate X. Let see what he says then.

  • You know how many wins in Fortnite Mobile in Season 9 I can get, Maybe a lot.

  • Thank you! And it is a helpful technology as you become truely mobile with a phone and mobile tablet combo. Less devices to carry. Imagine the battery life if you use this in folded mode 98% of the time. I'm just wondering what Apple is doing, the iPad Mini 5 should be an iphone/ipad mini combo - anything short of that wont be great AT ALL.

  • Please ignore him. According to him, all brands in universe are all trash. Except s**y. He will change his mind "again" after s**y implement the same plastic foldable. New innovations have to be started by someone. Even with risks. This is how technology works. You start it, mitigate the risks, and develop better solution. I praise huawei and samsung for their effort to start this new foldable tech. And i despise company that just wait wait wait for so long long time, waiting other companies to implement the mature technology and then copy from them.

  • Congratulation to you. Finally you have an account to post the comments directly. I don't play Facebook, thus I cannot sign up for the account. A company which cannot optimise their UI and need help from other to do that, how can they produce a good phone themselves? Recently many S10 units shipped early in the States reportedly came in open boxes. And the first day sale of the S10 series in South Korea is the lowest compared with S9 and Note9. All the proofs already said that SAMSUNG is going down slowly.

  • Please stop spreading falsehood! With an engineering background its clear to me that a complicated composition makes for difficult repair and heavy ownership cost. Huawei Mate X is an optimized piece of technology that provides perdormance or that range, reliability and efficiency in what its deaigned to be (a flagship smartphone in folded form and a flagship mobile tablet in unfolded form) without compromising affordability and ease of repair and parts replacement. This is "Neo" my posts were being delayed so I had to properly create an account and sign in. please stop misinforming folks. This Mate X is extreme value for money. Apple needs to release similar.

  • Actually, you can design an antenna receiver mix and match the material but don't use up all the plastic for that price. Please be inform that the Oled folded screen is a whole piece large plastic so why worry low signal reception

  • I'm also wondering where you get your facts from. Scientifically, its been proven that carbon fibre or metal on phones reduce the signals drastically I think its better to be well researched before posting falsehood to misinform folks who are here for honest reviews and facts. Stop the misinformation pls.

  • Technologies cost money and carbon fibre optiom of flagships are usually double the price. Huawei still keeps a standard of making cutting edge, practical and reliable Technologies at affordable prices. Samsung keeps ripping people off with garbage and the "fold" will be an ownership cost nightmare. A 9210i with Android would be better value than "fold" at $2000. I watched tonns of videos and DID NOT see ANY wrinkles and would buy in a heartbeat. I also read reviews from journalists who actually used it for hours.

  • Nice concept, but, have anyone imagined how would it be to place this phone on desk, table, bench or anywhere. The screen would be schratched within 10 days. Not to mention puting it in the poket of jeans. Huawei has to produce 10 spare screens for each phone produced.

  • Carbon fibre is better on signal reception and lighter than plastic and stronger than plastic and the much expensive than plastic and looks more premium than plastic. For $2600 why unable adopt carbon fibre!? As I said 5G need time to coming but Fold-phone with super pricey will have time to reduce more and more so either you get one during expensive and waiting 5G or you get later with 5G launched and price reduced, but one thing will be never change:

  • unfortunately they didnt hide it cleverly, it was also visible, and they have already said they are looking at trying and fixing the problem before the device starts shipping but we will see if they can actually deliver, huawei have yet to comment on why or how the crease appears in their device, so upto this point at least samsung is recognising and trying to remedy the issue, they also will offer free screen replacements to anyone who does buy one, eiither way the $1900 samsung and the $2700 huawei are still not ready for mass production

  • Lighter and better signal shows their continued effort to achieve device efficiency and overall reliability. if I invest in the Huawei Mate X when available (in 3 months time) knowing that the technology it packs (eg 5G) is still valid for 3 to 4 years and beyond then its a very smart and worthwhile investment. Its the best android package. Apple should release theirs too. As this is the yardstick for Android - Huawei is Android.

  • Its not even comparable to the Huawei Mate X. The Nokia has a folded mode that can do nothing than pick calls only. The screen can't even accomodate two thumbs let alone allow for typing sms, WhatsApp message, email or even do anything on social media. its a narrow 4.6" that's makes it a feature phone at best. In other to type an sms, email, WhatsApp, email or anything you have to unfold the device. Hence 98% of your activities will need you unfolding it - the hinge and the folded screen part will wear almost immediately. With the Huawei Mate X, in a folded form you can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING thanks to the 6.6" front screen and the 6.3" rear selfie mode view finder screen. You will rarely need it unfolded except for movies, etc.

  • Carbon fibre or aluminium is better than plastic, titanium is way impossible. I know Huawei want makes it weight lighter and get better signal reception with plastic materials but it looks like a toys or demo prototype. 5G is not completely launch for most of the market, yes you can waiting till it coming maybe 1 or 2 years can you waiting for it? The price show Huawei is greedy but they say they already reduce the price.

  • Samsung Fold X place a weird notch on top right side. A gaps between folded, it isn't a big deal but it has thicker the phone and not symmetry same flat whole dimensions. Still don't know the weight.

  • SAMSUNG is going to launch a foldable phone like HUAWEI Mate X. Let see what you are going to comment on that phone.

  • Exactly

  • You must be mistaking this for flexpai or something else. This is the best value for money except Apple makes theirs. By the way, if they use anything apart from the current material (which I'm not even sure is plastic), you won't get the durability, efficiency and most importantly, it might turn out to be way more expensive. Huawei is known for quality at affordable prices and this is no exception. With 5G, its as future proof as it gets. You are asking for a car made of titanium, I'm looking for practicality, efficiency, useability (unlike "fold"), durability and affordability.

  • Check it out on duration 1:34 in this review, the wrinkle unable to hide. Display ratio 16:9 soon will coming, I am waiting you to praise it on that time. 4:3 content a 16:9 video means it get smaller view field. The QWERTY keyboard should be split two part for 4:3 ratio even the 16:9 display is better to split the keyboard for two sides, so why bother to use a 4:3, this is because hardware limitation but also software limitation. The build quality is not future proof with plastic body.

  • Kept on complaining poor battery. Better have your own phone factory to satisfy all your needs. Huawei now is the best brand in the market and I doubt what other say.

  • I'm not sure you saw the videos and reviews by tech journalists who inlike Samsung were allowed to hold and play around with the Huawei Mate X for up to 3 hours; 1. There are no "wrinkles" and the hinge mechanism was commended as a technological feat. 2. The 4:3 screen ratio when unfolded is the best aspect ratio for a 7" - 8" tablet intended to be on the go especially for thumb-typing and without an external keyboard. A truly mobile device. 3. Considering the folded form being a flagship phone with a huge bezel-less 6.6" screen with an equally bezel-less rear 6.3" selfie mode view finder screen, an unfolded 8" flagship tablet with a large capacity battery (imagine the SOT if used only in phone mode), the weight is quite ideal. The thinness and distribution makes it feel a whole lot lighter than it really is. Its even lighter (or about same) and thinner than the Apple ipad mini 4 - only it offers more versatility and features as a flagship phone and tablet in one. Its extreme value for money and worth every penny. Its also future proof with 5G.

  • Poor battery ....

  • 295gram for phone it is too heavy, for tablet it is just fine. Why Huawei don't use carbon fibre or aluminium? Plastic is way too cheap for that price. And the screen ratio is so weird when unfold it is not 16:9 but looks like 4:3, can someone tell 4:3 is very old ratio for TV, nowadays 16:9 is much standardisation. Why Huawei design the wrinkles Oled screen when unfold, they should make one edge or both edges have gaps to flatten the screen smoothly because it is already no waterproof so give it some gaps to flatten the screen is a solution to eliminate ugly wrinkle.

  • You're welcome. They have a 6.3" screen for that. And avoided a notch on the full tablet screen.

  • My question is simple in the tablet mode i like a video call then it will be the big change from using standard and folded phone might be can expect in Mate X2 :-), anyway thanks for the reply Neo

  • Aspect Ratio Unfolded: (55:62)

  • I didn't get to see the video call with it unfolded, but with it folded, the rear 6.3" screen was clearly used as the selfie mode view finder

  • Yes. And they actually allowed tech journalists to play with it and have videos of actual hands-on unlike Samsung

  • so it means in the tablet mode i cant do the video call . what a brilliant device for £2200

  • Very expensive

  • The screen material is not breakable glass and the only worry would be scratches, hence the anti-scratch coating and the OEM case to protect the rear screen (which is also the selfie mode screen and view finder)

  • Having a flasgship phone which automatically turns into a flagship tablet with the current app transforming and syncing is well worth it for me. if I had a phone and a tablet I might not be able to start an app on the phone and continue on the tablet except its Apple (and I'm hoping they come out with one soon too) Huawei is the best option for android platform and this is a well worth it investment. The fact that the screen is not a breakable glass makes it even better and the case made by Huawei goes a long way in protecting the rear screen (which is also the selfie mode screen/view finder). Its a great device - 6.6" Flagship phone and a perfect 8" great tablet in one.

  • That!

  • Totally incomparable. What a great phone from Huawei. The best innovation at all.

  • Need a selfie camera and cut the cost by 20% and I will buy it

  • yes.. the screen protector will have to be stretchable as well. Else it will form bubbles under it.. and the glue used will need to be consistently stretch also. People may think about liquid screen protector.. but sadly it is also not good. because liquid screen protector will harden to glass like when you put it on.. and when you fold and open.. it will crack.

  • Yeah but I think with this price, you can buy 2 flagship phones from any company and a big tablet. That's what makes up the folding phone.

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Excellent analysis

  • It uses the same rear cameras and the rear 6.3" screen for the selfie video calling and all. Smart implementation.

  • Is this expensive phablet dont have selfie camera ? how people use for whatsapp video call and all ?

  • Its ok. I'm taking it as more value for money. - Flagship 6.6" phablet - Perfect sized tablet Pocketable with large battery capacity. All in one. I won't think twice about it. If only Apple will also come up with this.

  • I didn't mean you, i talked in general, just to clear any misunderstandings :)

  • I would buy becauase it gives an opportunity to carry a flaghip phone and a perfect sized flagship tablet in one single device. Its a win win IF one can afford it.

  • Amen!

  • I'm telling you, the phone's not worth it unless you are a millionaire. Because, like all phones, you might just drop the phone on the ground and it rolls into a drain and you can't get it back. There goes your 3000 dollars...

  • HUAWEI Mate X foldable screen is from BOE, a Chinese display manufacturing company. Not from SAMSUNG Display, Korean company.

  • "Your chinese innovations" lol First of all, I'm not Chinese, I just like cool tech Secondly, I'm not bad mouthing anyone, this is an "opinions" section if you could read...

  • Why don't you educate yourself:

  • What a smart predictive analysis dude ... Good job bro thumbs up .

  • Well maybe a Galaxy fold will be there. And they can start zombie hack invasion.

  • a Documentary called Return to Chernobyl did get an 8.2/10 on imdb plus you never know might find ghouls XD

  • I forgot that chips and batteries grow naturally and you have to water them and help them come together to make a phone.... what do you mean foldable phones are too unnatural XD

  • people ARE STILL buying vertu phones for $25k. This is more value

  • Its not glass, but glass-like. Your only worry would be scratches. hence the OEM case

  • I will probably smash the screen dropping the phone. There goes my $2000

  • After watching the actual handling videos of this device and the videos by Samsung for its fold I looked at the options offered and practicality of these phones; The Huawei Mate X when folded gives you a full smart phone with 6.6" which by all standards is enough for all smartphone use scenarios. it also gives you all what their flagship phones have to offer including media consumption, emails, social media, etc. When unfolded it basically gives you an 8" tablet with all tablet features and awesome speakers. This tablet mode for most users will be 25% (or less) of the time as the folded form is more than enough for most users. This factor will reduce need for unfolding constantly and help reduce wear and tear. So in summary, you have a huge screen flagship smartphone and a flagship tablet when folded and unfolded respectively. Samsung Galaxy fold on the other hand when folded offers a below average and non-usable (by todays standards) smartphone with a 4.6" screen and a ratio that makes it a tad better than a feature phone. When unfolded, it gives a 7.2" screen which is not exactly a tablet and borders a big screen phone territory in a very uncomfortable way. In otherwords, to type an sms or WhatsApp message, you have to unfold the device, to send an email or do anything on social media, you have to unfold the device. The folded form is only good for calls and can't be used conveniently to thumb type (basically a feature phone). its essentially a touch enabled Nokia 9210i giving you a folded option which is a feature phone and an unfolded option which is an oversized smartphone. Most importantly, an unfortunate buyer will end up unfolding it 90% of the time which will quickly wear the hinge mechanism and eventually result in a very expensive repair and ownership cost. The Huawei Mate X is value for money while the Galaxy fold is a 1980's tech enthusiast's fantasy.

  • Unfortunately they stole illegally. Sorce codes from Cisco, fold screens from Samsung.

  • You too as well. Better stop bad mouthing other brands and just praise your Chinese innovations

  • The FuTuRe is Here ...

  • And ridiculously expensive too! Mate X will cost about 2300€... you funking kidding me?!? I bet any foldable phone/phablet will cost at least 1500€, i assume. That fact alone will steer majority of people clear away from this market.

  • Thanks for the links.

  • Welp, don't think that way. Folding phones were only produced because many people want to have them so those people will be likely to buy folding phones. Though, all folding phones are quite costly right now, but a few years down the road, more people will buy folding phones as the price drops.

  • Folding phones of any brand will soon be folded ( vanished ) from the market...caz they are very unnatural and weird. mark my words

  • "Nothing special"?? I hope you're joking....

  • Why's everybody complaining about the price?? xD Are y'all stupid? It's not meant for you. Huawei doesn't want you to buy it. It's for innovators and early adopters, it's new technology in a completely new product category. You know the first mobile telephone was $4000 without considering inflation right? xD Y'all need to stop crying

  • Well he's right. A hard crease is like when you fold a piece of paper fully and push down on the folded part. That's what the Galaxy Fold has which you can see here: A better description of the Mate X's imperfection is not a "crease" but a "wrinkle" as you can see here: Pick your poison :)

  • Yes, I agree! Its too expensive, and nothing special!

  • After moto X so succesfull, than iphone x, now mate X

  • 2300 euro? seriously? well we can get at least 3 super high end phones with that price.

  • What it's not even an error, not having camera on the open screen is to have better screen to body ratio While you can use the 6 inch folded screen for selfi camera (I don't think that you would argue 6 inch is not enough ) . Also using rear camera makes better photos and videos than regular selfie one And that is used to avoid that cheap notch on Samsung fold and the huge bezels for the second screen

  • There is a fatal error with the new Huawei X phone, which is that I can not use video calls or self-shooting in open mode any screen 8 inches or even the second screen 6 inches should be used small screen in video calls and selfu In contrast Samsung allows you to use these features can Open the big screen mode Self-portrait and video calls !!

  • Not gonna lie this thing looks pretty nice.

  • Superb!

  • I don't see any problem on the thick bar at the side. In fact it serves as ergonomic hold of the tablet.

  • Huawei Mate X is the WORST design, MOST expensive phone, MOST short-lived phone. Reason are simple, screen will be cracked within short time

  • Are you serious OMG.

  • The thickness should be measured as 10.8 mm not 5.4. The only 5.4 mm part is the unfolded screen, and you still have the thick bar on the side.

  • You should ask Chee Khuan to explain what is hard crease. He is an expert and keep saying Galaxy Fold have a visible hard crease while Mate X doesnt have it

  • How do u put on screen protector or casing? The 'foldable' screen protector must be damn ex too😁

  • How many times it can be open and closed before failing the amoled screen? I think it is a important indicator.

  • Just replying so more people can see this.

  • Clearly you don't know what a hard crease is :/

  • Folded the Mate X is slightly larger in mm on two dimensions than the Note 8 , I would say yes this is pocketable.

  • Who is going to use the phone in that smart ways? You?

  • Because your hand and pocket are too small, not Mate X too big.

  • sure bob!

  • Hummm! Not interested in design! Not nice and hot imho!

  • Folded the Mate X is slightly larger in mm on two dimensions than the Note 8 , I would say yes this is pocketable.

  • I'm Samsung fan, but Compare to #galaxyfold design, samsung sucks!!! Congratulate to huawei ^^'

  • In all fairness, that does sound quite interesting.

  • Same as your Huawei Mate X crease that have been reported by tech media. Btw, GSMarena just posted a news about Redmi Note 7 failing durability test. Anything else to say?

  • does this phone pocket able?

  • It's just a normal physical theory. Same with fold a piece of paper. All these foldable phones will have a crease on the place they folded, including SAMSUNG Fold and HUAWEI Mate X. Since the Mate X still not yet available for sale, I don't want to say anything about it regarding the crease. But one thing I can say is, many smartphone sites already said that SAMSUNG Fold got a crease on the place it folded.

  • It is de wei! O3O

  • it is a great deal but i thing i should really ask what is the different between Samsung Galaxy S10 5G just a small changes in storage.

  • Everything is perfect except the price :)

  • The Mate X is WAY too big when folded. Foldables are supposed to be pocketable and comfortable to use. Even if their design has many positives over Samsung's Fold, they got the most important thing wrong.

  • With great Leica optics, I prefer this one.

  • So you admited that your Mate X have a hard crease?

  • The fact is SAMSUNG Fold also has the nylon kind of thing on the screen during the time fold and unfold it. But SAMSUNG is so clever and use some tricks to hide it during the unpack event only. HUAWEI is much more honest so they don't use any tricks to hide it.

  • Samsung one isn't a 5G ready.

  • its simply an amazing and stunning piece of tech innovation that eliminates the need to buy an android tablet. i am buying as soon as its available

  • I saw the hands on video, it's far away from perfect, Samsung's design could've been the best if they used a full screen instead of that weird 4 inch screen with Mega-bezels, and ofcourse that stupid notch that has no reason to be at all.

  • Hmm.. It's a good question !

  • You have to use a plastic screen protector - it won't be awfully easy to break the screen, just needs protection from scratches.

  • 100% agree with you, Huawei is the best option, even so, Im not gona buy this phone!!! haha

  • go ! buy rog pc

  • Because some people will want a phone and tablet combined in one. You know, so they don't have to carry both

  • just curiousity how they can put a screen protector on this phone?

  • folded is as thick as a xperia xz2 , and unfolded its even thinner than an ipad pro , its got the right thickness to give the customer the best grip feel

  • i had the nokia 9210i and for me it wasnt big. this is extremely more value with a huge front screen that is useful plus a perfect sized 8 inch tablet mode screen size. its the perfect phone, and absolutely worth the price tag

  • The Samsung version is almost useless with that tiny screen in the folded form. There are some other folding phone failures also. The Huawei is the best one so far, although I wouldn't buy a folding phone, it makes no sense at the moment, even with a decent implementation like this.

  • You talk but you dont know anything. Samsung has the first patent of these kind of flexible screens. And if you dig enough you will see that this phone's screen is nothing else than plastic, even you can see that nylon kind of thing when you are folding and unfolding. Samsung does not have that thing. Yes this looks prettier but from pictures, but technologically Galaxy Fold is much better than this. And Huawei does not lead :)

  • You end up with something that is a poor phone and a poor tablet. Somethings aren't meant to be combined. Do one thing and do it well. Who's going to want this in their pocket? Its big and heavy. I want a mobile to be mobile with and a tablet when I want a tablet (which isn't often). I didn't think was much demand for a tablet anyway. Each to their own of course. The proof will be in the sales.

  • No man for real look better. Huawei foldable phone looks like 5 years ahead of Samsung galaxy fold in technology and other specs. Samsung is as much interesting as the ruins of city close to chernobyl in Ukraine.

  • that's because why should you bring two devices when you can bring one? though I don't really like the os of Huawei and Xiaomi, even if I'm from China.(Hong Kong)

  • its a combination of both, which makes it even better than having them separate. its simply awesome, im sure there is a pen for it too.

  • stupid phone useless and expensive what's the point of buying a folding phone this expensive but you can buy a phone and a tablet with that money

  • this is simply light years ahead of the samsung bend or fold or whatever that wallclock is called. huawei continues to lead the android world in terms of innovation, practicality , user friendliness and efficiency. they are simply the best

  • At the end of the day a cellphone 2300euro a big amount not easy to hold and when you folded is a thickness i can not even think to buy it

  • Chinese OEMs = innovations Non-Chinese OEMs = nonsense Typical Chinese fans mindset...

  • already mentioned expand it

  • it support 5g please mention it in networks 5g supporting

  • I can't believe it doesn't even have a selfie camera for at least video call

  • I cannot believe the screen folds on the outside, how dumb. Also change the size of the phone, it makes no sense at all to have a square phone when unfolded. If it did, phones and tablets of all sizes would be square

  • it is not possible for a video call when in tablet mode

  • No 4K 60FPS Recording?

  • This is so fascinating than the samsung fold, the notched display hinders a true full view display and too many cameras is not so useful, also the fold does leave a gap in samsung fold and these are not present in huawei Mate x, the design is so seamless and attractive and the screen is so natural like any other device, making use of the same camera setup is more advantageous gives the same experiance as of the rear camera to selfies. Battery is amazing and a whooping lightening fast charger. Moreover this is a first gen folding devices, maybe slowly in the near future due to advancements and other competitor entries could bring new vibes in the foldable mobile industry and make the devices affordable to the masses.

  • i didnt see any wrinkles in the samsung device on video, the huawei x is clearly visable tho, i will take another look at the fold

  • and the price as well:)

  • Looks nice...way ahead of Samsung Fold....

  • LOL

  • Samsung galaxy fold looks more like Nokia 9300 comunicator this is trully inovative. Nicely done Huawei,.

  • stupid phone.expensive,lousy and useless

  • Omg, RIP Samsung !

  • hahaha...chiness oem need insert super glue at mate x middle.

  • I see. Thanks for the explanation.

  • Ability to hold device by screen edge. OS determines what are actual taps and what is just a hold holding hand.

  • Stop being stupid people. This and other fold phones are expensive due to high R&D and also limited numbers being made. This is just a show of innovation in a World where smartphones have reached it's peak. The only thing changing phones now are designs. We are entering a new age of the smartphone industry. These fold phones will progress. These can potentially target Apple's heavily dominated tablet market and so on. People don't understand why these companies make certain devices and price them beyond most people's reach...

  • Flappy phones.. It's so funny! Lol

  • Seems Oppo is sharing the same foldable phone as Huawei now lets hope the p30 pro has Oppo's 10 x optical zoom to...

  • No, Samsung has no hard crease as it does not fold 100%. There is some ugly gap ;-(

  • All covers nowadays is a pure self-hypnosis. They are far worse than the screen itself. Screens are capable to withstand against scratches from anything with hardness below level 6. Screen covers are not capable to withstand even level 4. They also won't protect you from cracks, as crack usually coming from edges.

  • The "wrinkle" created by SamsungFold is different from the "wrinkle" created by HuaweiMateX. The former is a well-defined "hard" wrinkle created by a hard-crease, while the latter is soft wrinkle created by a soft-crease. The soft wrinkle is recoverable while the hard wrinkle is unrecoverable.

  • You need to understand the difference between a hard-crease and a soft-crease. When HuaweiMateX folds out, it creates a soft-crease which is fully recoverable when HuaweiMateX folds back, without leaving a hard-crease line(s). When SamsungFold folds in, it creates a hard-crease with a permanent hard-crease line which is unrecoverable.

  • This i can think to thx, but still a bad match. But again i have power in my mate 20 x for nearly 2½ day and i use it a lot. So still i think the X will have power enough for a least a day... And thats still okay in my opinion.

  • I dont think so, Now i have a phone and a tablet and i need both of them tablet at home for web surfing and book reading,.. and phone outside, and its a big problem to charge, check social media in both,.. and this new device is so nessecerry to me if itll be cheapper.

  • Comparison of Huawei Mate X and Samsung Fold. Huawei Mate X: Folding-out. Creates soft crease(s), fully recoverable, and without hard-crease line(s). Samsung Fold: Folding-in. Creates hard crease(s), with visible and unrecoverable hard-crease line(s). A close-up look at Huawei Mate X by a German reporter: Huawei Mate X in action in close-up. The commentary offered by the reviewer is spot-on: Promotional videos and pictures from Samsung have tried to hide the center crease line(s). But take a look at Samsung Fold from the following video: Play this video with slow-motion (0.25 of full speed), at around 0:51 you will see a very clear hard crease line in the middle.

  • Who thinks foldable phones are going share same faith as 3D TVs? 3D TVs were such a buzz but never caught up with the general public. They seem exciting to techies but I don't think general public is going to find the concept reliable. I have been showing pics of this phone to some of my friends who are less interested in tech (for some weird reason they all use iPhones) they say it's too much. Foldable smartphones could be the 3D of TVs.

  • SAMSUNG Fold also has the wrinkle. But SAMSUNG is very clever and hide the wrinkle during the unpack event. HUAWEI is much more honest. They don't use the tricks to hide it. It's normal to has wrinkle on these fold screen phones. Same theory with fold a piece of paper.

  • Is that a CD case? LOL!

  • because we outdoor person ... many thing can happen , thats why we put cover , and also we not super rich to pay replacement everytime that phone break

  • watch the keynote , they show how it looks like with cover ...

  • So it's a downgrade version of Huawei Mate 20 since it's a Huawei Mate X ... Hahaha. I prefer naming it Huawei Fold X ..

  • The Mate X would be able to download a one-gigabyte movie in three seconds. Richard Yu, head of Huawei's Consumer Business Groups said, the phone will be priced at 2,299 euros (2,607 U.S. dollars) when it goes on sale later this year, setting the tone for a new upper limit for consumer smartphones

  • Not Durable & User Friendly...Lol

  • Samsung's decision to have hinge at the back is definitely a welcome.

  • You should research first how much it cost to produce a folding screen then come back here to justify your comment on pricing.

  • Because they try to fit it in a slim body.

  • Beautiful!

  • 2300 Euro and no headphone jack? smh

  • Better design than Galaxy Fold and also more expensive. Not sure about the UI

  • RIP Royole FlexiPai, Samsung & Huawei will do the honours.

  • Corning gorilla glass 6. Read about it

  • This is beyond any logic. Covers being outdated 10 years ago. What on earth are you talking about. You want to protect a device cause replacement cost a kidney nowdays. 300$ screens are not that cheap for the majority. Its a disaster if you own a premium phone and have absolutely no protection on it. People like to resell there devices and the better condition the more money you get so theres absolutely no logic in saying covers are outdated.

  • At least HUAWEI give a 55W charger to Mate X so that the phone can charge to 85% within 30 minutes. How about SAMSUNG? Still giving a 18W charger to the Fold.

  • SAMSUNG Fold also has the wrinkle. But SAMSUNG just hide it cleverly only. HUAWEI is much more honest. So they don't use any tricks to hide that wrinkle.

  • 230 for rent. please tell me where you are so i can move with you :p

  • video 1080p@30fps, is that a joke???

  • Ya, it dont look like Huawei, normally their phones have more mah the AppleSung. My m20x have 5000mah, so this i really dont understand.

  • There is a fundamental difference in design between Huawei Mate X and Samsung Fold. When Huawei Mate X is fully open, you face an unblemished AMOLED screen, just like you would with any other tablet. When Samsung Fold is fully open, you face a damaged AMOLED screen with a very visible hard-crease line in the middle, something you never have to face until now. Run that Samsung Galaxy Fold silent video using slow-motion (0.25 of full speed), at around 0:51 you will see a very clear hard crease line in the middle. Do you really want to use a 7.3" tablet with a damaged AMOLED screen (with a visible hard-crease line in the middle)?

  • What is edge touch protection ? Does this means bezels?

  • Well, it's as tall than a note 9 lol

  • I understand this is a very first generation, but i don't like it. It's too GIGANTIC even being folded. Over 16 cm tall. I don't like solution with wide side for camera and usb connector. There should be another solution, so it would have same thickness for entire unfolded device. Something like was in Westworld. And what about edge touch protection? Android never had it unlike very good one in iOS. Those bezelless unfolded device needs edge touch protection as never before.

  • OMG where do you live ?:O that money here is like 2 months if you're lucky ^^

  • The side (center display when unfold) will be a great issue in seek of scratch or damage prone.

  • Why would you use protective cover nowadays? They have been outdated 10 years ago.

  • How the heck are you supposed to put a protective cover on these foldable phones? Imagine how much a screen replacement would cost if you break it...

  • RIP Samsung, when this is even more expensive, and more fragile? It looks good I admit, but it is more fragile than the Galaxy Fold.

  • WOW 2,3K, with these much I can pay 10 months of my rent or get a new motorcycle and still have extra money for 2 months of rent!

  • again disaster battery like samsung.

  • Is this created from stolen drawings from Samsung?

  • Yeah, you haven't bought both of them but you're 100% sure,

  • RIP samsung

  • Unfortunately, its already shown that this device has wrinkles when opened in full tablet mode, hopefully they remedy this before mass production begins, i will check out both this and the samsung before deciding, but given the cost, the flaw and the design, im probably gonna pick up the samsung

  • A TOF camera is known as a "Time-of-flight" camera which uses speed of light to measure distance from objects. Essentially, it assists with the other cameras to create sharper images

  • very nice why i should need fold-able phone !!!

  • Huawei are really showing other companys how its done, Shame the price is so steep though. Samsung could still win the first round of foldable phones if its not greedy with its pricing. When the question was asked abit back, How big will mobile phone screens get? Well i think here is the answer. Its too much for my pocket money to stretch to but hope plenty buy it and make it popular so the price comes down.

  • compare to galaxy fold this one is much prettier. yet both are very expensive we have to wait for mass productions in future to buy one.

  • Stupid design. The screen would be damaged in its first day of use.

  • Galaxy Fold...1000% more durable & more elegant then Mate X.

  • Guys pls help, what's the meaning of TOF camera and what does it do

  • No FM radio and no 3,5 jack = get lost

  • With Samsung's monstrous cover bezels and that hideous notch on the tablet portion, Samsung would really only sell better in America because it's already a well known brand, and not because it's the better of the two

  • I like the the design but the way the camera setup its ugly AF i like Sammy's one better its cheaper as well because this what ever its called its gonna be very expensive plus why no one is talking about the price 2300 for something like this no thank you,but when sammy said it was gonna cost 2000 euro we had all the haters commenting( chinese fans) Sammy all the way this is a flop will never beat Sammy's foldable wait for the release they will put them together and we all know who's that winner (# sammy:) obviously.

  • Lol i was waiting for a comment like this:) bro! i know you are a fan so of course what ever they do its innovative and its a wow for you, lmfao! this will never beat Sammy's foldable keep dreaming it might come through or maybe not lol....

  • at 1.30 look at that wrinkle. And you still compare this chinese junk to samsung. Pathetic

  • what does "TOF camera" means

  • Without unlocked bootloader huawei will drop their sales by a large margine.

  • Just wandering how this display will be protected? For that reason I think Samsung's 'Fold' seems to be bit more practical.

  • Samsung made a huge mistake making the fold with those big bezels on the fold. Now they're going to flounder because the mate x truly has the best specifications

  • Huge achievement for smartphone making and a way better implementation than Galaxy Fold! The design and the outer folding of the screen is well executed, and I understand the pricing. If you want this exciting tech folks you can buy for the actual salty price or wait a few years until these things become the norm.

  • that price, (rofl)

  • Is there any hardcase and tempred glass screen protector for this new model phone?

  • I remember, those Motorola & Nokia flap phones with 2 screens. One inside one smaller screen outside. Samsung Fold looks like just the XXXL version of that. But these Huawei device is something practical except price.

  • The battery isn't as good compared to other tablets, but it's alright.

  • lol ikr

  • 2300 EURO ?? it`s really funny.

  • Samsung fold-onward. thus it'll protects the screen from scratches (flexible material couldn't be scratch-resistant) . But this design prevents it from using one same screen for both folded and unfolded. Sad. Huawei fold-backward. Screen will scratchs a lot, but bigger screen when folded. Neither is good...

  • Finally a phone with symmetrical bezels

  • Samsung Fold fold-onward, thus it'll protects the screen from scratches (flexible material surely could not be . But this design prevents it from using one same screen for both folded and unfolded.

  • foldable, bezel less, 6.6inch without unfolding, back screen for selfies, 85% charge in 30 minutes and 5G?! good luck Samsung XD

  • No chipset? No camera? Hmm. Why even post when you don't have full specs? Battery is a lot better than Sam's though.

  • Samsung Fold will flop thanks to this, I love Samsung and have had Samsung phones for 7 years, but this thing just blows everythong ele out of the water, I hope Huawei makes billions off of this phone

  • Agreed. Huawei has some clever engineers thats for sure, as do Samsung of course, but my feeling is tha Samsung had the Fold's design ready for a long time now, but Huawei was thinking further ahead.. This phone really is the absolute best folding phone design

  • Lack of 3.5mm audio jack. I can't see any limitations.

  • Samsung Fold just got steamrolled.. This I will be buying 100% certain. This looks so much more futuristic than Samsung Fold, like 3 years ahead.. Huawei is my new favourite brand, farewell Samsung

  • Amazing smartphone.

  • Absolutely agree. Samsung Fold external display is unusable except for quick messaging or gps directions. You basically have to use it open all time. And the internal/external display is much smaller than Huawei. Thumbs up for Huawei!

  • Huawei shows Samsung how it's done.
