My phone has a white spot just before my warranty ended and I claimed my warranty. They changed my screen to a new one and 4 months later my screen has another white spot. So maybe it's just because the screen is lcd and prone to this problem.

I don't know mate 20. I am really happy with P20. It's good in everything. Sound, screen Battery, camera, speed. Weight and design. Everything is good. Of course in the future will be obsolete but there will always be a nice phone

My final advise is shooting in raw and edit in Lightroom apk for example, decreasing red to - 16 and Orange - 40, (the rest parameters : shadows, exposure, etc, as you like). To correct the tunnel view use Vigneta. I can't stand the default algorithm, so flat and Orange. It's awful to watch the jpg on a laptop

However, I think 9.1 update has changed the algorithm of the camera In a bad way. Photos now shows a too forced beauty mode with a little less clarity, and the color of the skin is too orange. I recommend all people to take photos in raw mode and later edit them using Lightroom (pc or mobile apk) decreasing the orange color at less 20%. The vigneta will have to be adjusted as swell. Sounds complicated, it's not. And the results worth it.. The picute will be 1000 times better. If you are lazy at least edit the picture using the default edit application and decrease hue 20%.However that won't solve the excess of beauty mode. If you have a little shin, the picture won't ever show, lol

Since it doesn't have an OLED screen, there is no "darken interface colors" option in P20. Acording to Huawei that option only serves to preserve battery on OLED screens. Stupid, I know since it didn't cross their minds that it's more pleasant to look at black screen at night. Anyway, there is few good themes that reproduce darken interface colors. I would reccomend "Black pie for EMUI 9/9.1" by Aurel. It's in Playstore.

So one in year with my p20. At beginning was an amazing one. After 6 months sent for repairs, the fingerprint scanner was replaced. After then in the past month phone is started to deplete twice as fast as before, ongoing heating issues. This is unclear what is the best way to deal with. As long as it is working the service will not be able to do anything. Also something is wrong because suddenly became sluggish, so i do not know what to do any advice?....

P20. I got myself one just a few days ago and the camera is really really good, in my perspective. I like both the night and day shots. For battery, you can activate Power Saving Mode from Settings - Battery - Power Saving Mode("This mode limits background app activity, disables email auto-sync and system sounds, and reduces visual effects to save power.") so your battery would last longer. This mode doesn't affect at all your experience with the phone. It didn't affect mine, at least. Also, you have a Phone Manager app where you can play with some settings that will help with your battery life. If you like to use the phone A LOT, the battery won't go through the whole day, and you will have to charge it at least once. Or even twice based on the level of your activity. Although, this won't affect you really that much if you have an external battery or an outlet where you can just quickly plug your phone in. The phone also charges very fast. From 30% to 60% in a matter of 20 or 30 mins.But that's when you charge it with its dedicated charger. I have never tested it with an external battery. All in all, I recommend the P20 because I have also looked at a lot of reviews before, and P20 is better in the means of camera(and chipset). But I don't recommend it if you will miss the MicroSD and the headphone jack, and if you don't like the big chin at the bottom of the phone or if you dislike heavy phones.

Thank you. Locked all apps in background, and done calibration. I don't think it's a battery hardware problemi, since i made the night test: i charged the battery until 100 %, put airplane mode and after all night it was still 100 % charged.

This is not normal. Would suggest you take the following steps: 1. Check the battery statistics 2. If you find the app that consumes more power change the settings not to run in the background or uninstall-reinstall. 3. If problem is not solved check which apps are running in the background and probably change the settings of those you dont use so as not to run in the background. 4. If problem is not solved do a battery calibration: Charge to 100% then leave the battery to go down to 0% (it automatically switches off at 2%, open it several times until it goes down to 0%). Have it switched off until it is charged up to 100%. 5. If problem is not solved do a factory reset (delete your gmail account first). 6. If problem is not solved go for a battery replacement. Step 4 (discharging up to 0%) should not be followed more than once per 2-3 months since the battery may be damaged.

The P20 does not have infrared sensor, but the P20 Pro does. There are however adapters both for headphone jack (buggy, and this phone does not have a jack) or USB-C. There are adapters for lightning and micro USB ports too. This phone has USB-C port. I have not tried an adapter with this phone (yet), but it appears the zaza app is compatible with USB C phones. Some of the other apps are not compatible with newer iOS for instance. I do not know if Huawei comes with a dedicated app, nor if the adapter can use it.

Photos may be blurry in Night mode if stuff moves around or you cannot hold it still enough. Check what mode you are using. Photo is the standard mode that should give good photos. Check the lens that does not have gunk or fingerprints on it. Also, the front lens is fixed focus, while the back lens is auto focus. Install Open Cam to see if that helps. The auto focus is much slower. I use Open cam for taking lower resolution pictures anyway, so a good addition. It is a really good camera, with some limitations, but those are few. The sensor is the same size as the Nokia N8. Much bigger than a regular phone camera.

Probably you have to check with a local Huawei service center since the quality of the photos should be high. It is way better than the P9 series.

Anyone else having trouble with P20 camera? The pictures mine is making are really crappy. The phone can take good quality pictures only of still objects in good lighting conditions. Everything else is just too blurred or not cleat at all. Had P9 before and the camera was really good in all conditions, P20 has been such a dissapointment :( Is there any solutions other than buying a new phone?

Hello everyone, I replaced the factory screen protector with a tempered glass to achieve higher protection however I have tried a few and they do not fit well. They are small and 1-2 mm of the screen is extended out of the protector. I have also tried full screen 5D however they have a black border which I don't like, they are too big and they break very easily. Is this usual with this phone or the protectors I have used are not well? Any tempered glass to fit well? Thanks

This people are crazy, i had my phone sent for replacement of the fingerprint sensor, it came back with Emui 9 and android 9 but yesterday i got notification to instal emui 9 again. I installed but no any diference. And more over the fingerprint is not working properly. No matter which finger set it i use very sl9w to recognize it. I am very, very disapointed.

I have used this phone for awhile now.. it has a fantastic camera etc.. the battery drains a little to fast fro my liking with small to above average use it will require daily charging. The emui is a little bit annoying, updates are not as quick as first advertised but all round this is a great phone for someone who loves good photos with a high(ish) spec device in their pocket..

After used many different brands I buy a Huawei p20 and the watch GT. Now after two weeks I am so surprised about the quality from these amazing phone that instal automatisch Android pie by the first power on. The phone is very quick and she make me really happy with the gorgeous camera's. Never I have see better camera's in a phone than by the p20. So, I managed to push EMUI 9 update to my L29 in Croatia. Try it, maybe it will work for you. Go to HiCare app and in settings change your region to UK. Then, in HiCare app click on Update. It will show update but it will also show some error. After that change region to USA. Again, search for update within HiCare app. It will show update and it will be downloadable. After that, change region again. This time to your default region. For me it's Croatia. Update is here and I'm downloading it now.

P20 is not water resistant, and Sony Z3C was water resistant and had normal 3,5mm jack. Something else is a reason to abandon of this jack, and I would like to hear credible explanation from manufactures. Apple abandon this jack because they can't credit any patent on it, for them everything is related to patents.

I have the same problem. P20 keyboard is crap. Both swiftkey and gboard are way too small and I make so many mistakes that typing on this piece of crap is totally useless. If I knew a good android phone with 20mp selfie camera and a keyboard you can type comfortably on I would return this huawei p20 asap and buy a decent keyboard phone.

Battery is fine now. After updating Huawei claims that: "After your phone is updated, the system is optimised within a period of time (within 24 hours) based on your usage habits. During the optimisation, power consumption increases. After the optimisation is complete, power consumption is restored to normal" True :)

Got OTA update to Pie EMUI on on 23.01.2019. Antutu score is much less and battery fell like lest durable. Bought in France and used in Macedonia. Sorry but for me the update is nothing special. Fells like other brand, not Huawei. I liked emui 8.1 more.

Because of water resistance. Plugin for 3.5mm audio jack is a big problem... too deep inside and holds water drops... this way they avoid that problem... least i believe that's why...

During a visit to Asia I saw the Huawei P20 and was interested to buy because it offered the dual SIM feature. So back in UK when I noticed the recent Black Friday offer I just bought it thinking it would be the same but I then discovered the P20 only had capacity for a single SIM. I feel cheated. Does anyone find swiftkey and gboard that are already installed on p20 too small? I make tons of mistakes typing with both gboard and swiftkey. Increasing the height of swiftkey or gboard doesn't work. Am I the only one who finds gboard on p20 small?

None of the above. I got my phone huawei p20 last may 2018. The problem started around June 2018. They fixed my phone sometime July 14 and 28 for software flushing and Hardware replacement, respectively. The hardware replacement was necessary because the biometric fails to function at one point. I was able to document it by video. But, on November 14, i had issues with the screen and camera. So, by November 26, i had it serviced again in Manila (i live in Davao),for flex cord and screen replacement. Furthermore, on December 9, i had issue with the same phone, again. Screen was still having issues. I asked for a phone replacement (everytime),but they (huawei personnel) said its only applicable for seven (7) days upon purchase. Today, i had my phone serviced again. For the fourth time. Ill give them few days to access my phone. Hopefully, I can have the replacement phone. PS: I can prove everything I said.

I got this p20 from amazon a few weeks ago and I like it except the keyboard. They keyboard is crap and I have downloaded like 20 keyboards from google play and all of them are crap as these keyboards I downloaded get affected by the default keyboard by huawei. I can type fast on an iphone for example but this phone by default has a crappy keyboard. So my question is are you a guy and can you type fast on p20? Also are there custom roms that would get rid of this annoying p20 problem and let keyboards like swift key work and not have the keys so close to each other that you can't type fast?

I bought this phone before 4 months and i can't rejoice with it. So i was on samsung, and when i search phone to buy i have only samsung in my list, but my friend suggested me that i look to P20, and i buy it. A lot of people say that audio jack is very important for a phone, i also think like majority of people, but actually you can buy more 3.5mm cables and carry on with you. I recommend this phone for people who need fast with very good camera, long battery life and with good performance phone.

Superb fone. Ive tried samsung for how many years but when i tried using p20.. I just cant help it but the camera is amazing esp in portrait mode. I am more on selfie mode and i can say that the p20 did a good job in terms of its resolution. Fast battery charging.. And doesnt easily drains.. Kudos to huawei p20👍👍😊

Better stayed with ur iphone. Im using p20. Overall the front camera not very satisfying. Much better note 8 from this for front camera. Note 8 battery also last longer. Note 8 camera had 2x optic camera but p20 2xlossless zoom. Plastic side of p20 easy to scratch due to install the plastic casing.

You can uninstall or disable in a few seconds the bloatware, which in my opinion there is not so much on the S9. You get a much better screen also, and i never use any screen protector, I only put my phone in a pouch. It also have 3,5 mm jack and memory card. S9 best phone for camera, compactness, speakers, built quality, screen, speed...about everything actually. And affordable price now. I tried the P20 and gave it back after one day, can't stand the UI.

Mine got scratches around the side of the lcd.. Because of the stock provided case.. It's so annoying to look at. I just purchased it 3 days ago. Does the warranty covers this scratches?

In my experience 1 drop and screen smashes. Huawei not my top pick, but do high end huawei have tempered glass. At this price I expect it should. I'm only interested in this phone because of superior camera quality.

Re: Samsung S9 vs Huawei P20, the Samsung is full of bloatware and its almost impossible to get a screen protector that will stay on. The Huawei, whilst it still has unnecessary apps loaded is a lot nearer stock android.The fault I find with the P20 is that it is very easy to click on one of the bottom navigation buttons whilst texting or emailing and whisking you away from the task in hand. To be fair the system maintains your place and its easy to pick up where you left off. The build quality of the Huawei is also loads better than Samsung. The camera on the Huawei is also excellent (as no doubt is Samsung's). The front camera unfortunately won't make me look any younger!!

That depends on your OS preferences. If you don't like iOS, your only option is to try Android. P20 is a good phone. I have it for 5 months now. It has good battery life and camera. Also, it's not lagging. What I don't like is stock Huawei launcher- using Nova pro instead.

Bought p20 and afet a week i noticed that the battery graph in settings implies that the phone is always awake even if i locked the phone and turned off any wireless connection... please check your phone now if it has the same issue. Mine will be replaced in a day or two. Ive tried restoring it and not use it. The technician also did the same thing but the awake lock is still there.. ive also removed almost all of the apps but issue still persist. It must be production issue i guess. So check your phones now

The phone in itself is not bad. It is fast, the screen is nice. But GPS is problematic, if you use apps that use GPS, don't buy it. The camera is also not good. I don't get this "reviews" that are saying that the camera is very good...it is not...iPhone SE (pretty older phone) makes better pictures. Had the phone for two days. Then I just sold it. For sure Huawei P20. I used S8 for the last 10 months and I switched 2 months ago to Huawei P20. The camera is batter, overall software is smoother on Huawei and the battery life is about 20% better on Huawei. However the screen was a bit better on S8 but if I have to choose again I will go again for P20/P20 Pro. Cheers!

Huawei is better 1/1... And here is why: S7 is old phone with SD 820 who becoming old. Camera of P20 and P20 Pro eats the one on S7. I'm pretty sure that battery is better on P20 (im user of P20 Pro so i cant tell for sure but i love this phone) Much bigger display in slightly bigger body. I love sound that came from my P20 Pro and from earbuds in the box. Overall it's newer phone with huge chance to get supported much longer than S7. I disabled on screen navigation bars and use fingerprint instead and im satisfyed so far. Got GPU Turbo update , few days ago and thats good thing too , Games run much smoother , without heat ( it comes a little after about 1h but it's normal) battery last even longer during gaming. 128 gb of memory is huge win over s7 too. Charging is double as fast. Other things are pretty much thing of prefference so i will not mention it. i dont wanna be samsung hater.

I did my research on all the flagship models (I only had Android in mind; I've used it since 2010 so yes, Apple's iPhones were off the table automatically), and among them, I really fell hard for the p20 pro. I researched its pros and cons (pros: cameras, OS, battery, speakers, display size, AI, water and dust resistance/proof; cons: no external memory, no headphone jack - but not entirely a downside for me because they provide both an adapter AND usb-c headphones in the box, at least what I got in Canada - slightly lower display rating). I've been using it for a few days now and I have to say, I didn't go wrong. out of all the flagship models, not only are its impeccable features top of the line, but with the amount of power it has, the p20 pro gives you the best bang for your buck. it's totally underrated and just recently improved compared to veterans like Samsung and LG, but it's a bold new phone that puts Huawei on the map, and each user easily on the go without worrying about battery life, Android OS version, camera, sound quality, and accessories. Unlike other phones which people apparently have taken to financing like a car or real estate (ridiculous, IMO), the p20 pro is comfortably and more than rightfully priced for everything you expect in a flagship model - and more.

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you prefer having a good camera rather than a neat display resolution go for the P20. I personally prefer the M10 because of its resolution and pixels (1440 x 2560 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~499 ppi density)).

You should decide what you want and nobody can help you with that. I love Android more than iOS. I had 2 iPhones and hated it. My latest purchase was P20 and I love it! But that's me. Hi, I switched from Samsung S8 to the P20(First time Huawei), 5 days ago and the difference is quite big, battery life is obviously better on P20,the camera is slighty better, overall feeling is impressive; I also played a litlle with the P20 pro and the camera is even better than the P20 and the battery life also about 15% better, so if you afford go for the Pro if not, P20 is also great, highly recommend it.

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review. Right from the start I was impressed, a bumper case in the box and a screen protector already fitted was a nice touch. The phone looks and feels very good quality, the face recognition is really fast and if the light isn’t good enough for it to work, the finger print detector to open is also really fast. All the apps open fast and the battery life is decent, running multiple apps, like streaming music can drain the battery fast, but you do get a warning from the phone of apps are using a high amount of battery, if you run out of battery it charges quickly too. 128Gb of memory is loads for all my music, photos and apps with lots of space to spare. The camera is awesome and is the most impressive thing about this phone, multiple video modes from 4K to many full HD modes, the photo modes are fantastic, especially the moving picture mode, helps reduce blurry pictures, best camera I’ve had on a phone and the AI is really handy and learns as you take photos not sure I’ll use a digital camera ever again when phones like this have such a great camera. My biggest issue with the phone is, I’m not sure if it’s Huawei or android, but not being able to turn off most notification sounds or allocate different sound to emails, text, Snapchat etc is a real pain. I know I can buy an app to do this but would be better if this was a standard feature like other phones. In all honestly I’m really impressed with the HUAWEI P20, it’s the first android phone I’ve had and I really like it. Pros: Comes with Screen protector pre fitted and a clear rubber case in the box Screen is the right size Looks and feels very good quality in your hand Lighting it fast, apps, face detection and finger print detector The camera is awesome 128gb memory Cons: Really just the lack of customisation on the notification sounds Some may feel the face detection is too good and too fast that they can’t see the notifications on their phone so may want to turn it off. I was greatly surprise that Huawei provided a case and pre-applied a tempered glass screen protector, a really nice touch given you a piece of mind in case of any accidental drop, just the horror to drop a brand new phone as soon you have in your hands is terrifying. The P20 is very responsive thanks to the UI refinements and the usage of Android 8.1. One thing to consider is that phone become really hot to touch when is under heavy workloads (e.g.: gaming) just felling uncomfortable to hold on your hands but not at the point to burn yourself, under normal circumstances or usage is fine. Huawei is establishing itself as one of the stronger contender on the mobile market by offering quality and refine products, still missing some features such as: wireless charging and IP67. In order to compete with the market leaders the lack of those features doesn't help. Nevertheless, two mobile OEMs have full control over their silicon: Apple and Huawei. Huawei is higher integrated of the two due in-house modem development breaking into the high-end market with competitive solutions. The big feature in the Kirin 970 is the inclusion of a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). What is NPU good for? One use-case is noise reduction and thus is able to increase voice recognition rate in heavy traffic. The most publicized use-case is related to the camera app by recognizing different scenarios and optimize the settings based on pre-sets configuration, most of the scenarios it works flawless, still some work has to be done under really low light conditions. Keep in mind this is a phone, not a high end DSLR camera. Huawei is reaching out to developers to find more use-cases for the NPU, at least Huawei is trying to innovate with something new on a convoluted market. One big talking point, is the notch at the top of the display, which houses the speaker and front camera. It can be "removed" via software or set per app as to whether a full-screen display is possible or not. Huawei opted to use an LCD display on the P20 instead an OLED used on the P20 Pro, full HD+ resolution and color contrast is good in daily usage. Due most of the interesting characteristics were reserved to the P20 Pro, I wish that Huawei had priced the P20 a little lower to attract more potential buyers, still is a good phone and his massive 128GB of storage is suitable to the average users with a good battery life.

I own P20 and I love it. But I have one issue. When I activate both sim cards, even it is shown that my 4G sim card is in 4G (small 4G icon next to the signal bars) I have no mobile data. It's like I am not connected. When I deactvate the other card, my 4G sim card works fine. Any ideas? Thanks

Confirmed! Tonight i took around 20 pictures and this p20 that i Bought didnt get hot. Looking forward for the next updates. Very happy here! I love the camera during the day and at night. At night pics have no noise and have a lot of light. But sometimes i reduce iso when i take pics of dark landscapes becouse otherwise the things, mainly trees look not very natural. Too much light and oversharpening.

Ahhh. I think you are right! When i was in the shop testing i realised about overheating but i buyed it anyway. Later at home i noticed same overheating with camera and someone confirmed this point in a review on the internet.However i updated the phone to 120 yesterday and i dont remember the overheating problem since then. Right now i have taken 10 pics in some minutes in night mode and no overheating at alll. Maybe is suggestion and i need more testing. I will write in the future to clear this point. Hello people. I have had the P20 for 2 weeks and i can say i am very very happy with the choice. At first i was worried about the notch, but that is a nonsense becouse the phone can hide it very well, putting a black area on the sides and taking adventage of the area putting the clock or other things . Anyway i dont even hide sometimes becouse it doesnt bother me as much as i thought. The camara is very very good, or at least the best camera on a smartphone. The screen is excellent. The battery too. The design, the size, the touch, the sound, the weight, the speed...all is very good. However not everything is perfect: when you take some pictures, since 7-9 pictures (or more than 6-10 minutes with the camera on), the phone gets hot, overheating and i dont like that becouse is unconfortable and i am scared it will affect the battery life. Its not a serius problem becouse 8 pictures in 10 minutes are usually enought for most ocassions, but i had to tell. Other problem is that the phone is very slippery. I am always scared of dropping it. I recomend to put a case to protect it. Here in Spain, i got it for 530 euros , much cheaper than S8 and S9 and after testing both cameras in the shop i prefer p20. I didnt notice any difference with P20 pro, however the chances of taking interesting captures in that shop were very slim, lol. Bye bye

I've had my P20 for a week now. It's fast, takes amazing pictures, and the battery lasts for 2 days. I love everything about it! The reviews say the P20 pro is better because it has a better screen and better camera. The reviewers are missing one critical aspect: it's got a 6.1 inch screen! Who wants to walk around with a giant screen smashing against their thigh? The P20 size is perfect. If you want a giant screen in your pocket you should buy a tablet, not a phone.

I think after 3 days that is a good phone. Try to play with settings and all will be good. In regard of heat when charging and watch video it is getting a bit warm, but with nova plus never happened, sound is decent better then my old nova plus. It is fadter than my nova. All in in all, a decent phone.

So i decided based on my provider offer that I got a good deal. Everything is working as it should. You are not wrong at all to upgrade to this phone based on cost and performances. Ok.What u get with p20-is something others phone will get with android P(September,Octobar or later)- instead of shut down all apps there is a small button at the bottom(middle of the scrren,buttom)- if u press it u will do 2 things- close all apps and optimise your phone for better performance,so if u press it u will get a short information at the bottom- now your phone is well optimised(and it will also close your apps,wipe cash from them,etc)- but i think thats its not goid to presss this button so often,so i rather close apps on by one by swiping them aside.

Have this phone for 10 days and here are some impressions: pros: 1. Phone is fast, have good performance 2. Solid battery life with super fast charging 3. Camera is among the best, especially in low light conditions 4. I like the size and look of the phone 5. Descent display 6. Pretty loud speaker cons: 1. EMUI is not logical and some functions are really hard to be found 2. Overall EMUI 8.0 seems like in beta stage, like not finished product; there's so many bugs 3. Sorry, I meant the recent apps button. The one that looks like a square in many cases (one of the 3 navigation buttons found at the bottom of most Android phones - along with the home button & the back button). Double tap the menu button?? There is no double tap anywhere,in fact- there is no menu( if u think about the app drawer- unless u change it in settings)- but i ve noticed that it works better by default- without app drawer.

I just got it and i hate it! I used to use iphone6, but even my old iphone 5 makes better selfies, all selfies looks to bright and it makes it look like it is done with some old cheap phone! Never been more disappointed on a phone!

I returned it anyway . I called the warranty they said that for the auto dimming bug they can reinstall the OS but it will not guarantee it will stop doing it , Huawei call center said that maybe an update it's on it's way but they didn't knew anything for sure so yeah, I am happy I returned it and got rid of it plus the notch was not on my taste at all ! The most stupid thing a phone OEM could copy ! Not even the BT headphones did work well with this phone and what I mean by this is because of the very low volume and quality so maybe I got a bad unit but still I will never buy Huawei again , emui is ugly like hell and the list with problems that I had with P20 keeps on going. I will probably return to Samsung or HTC.

For example, quick jump between apps (double tap the menu button) was often very slow especially when one of the apps was a processor intensive one. But u should not give up that easy,if u had a dim issue u should have for update that fix it(example- mate 10 pro had that issue- not all of them ofcourse,bur many of them had it- they got the update that fixed the issue); also,if u were in bad luck with one modle u shouldnt give up the brand in generally,i had a bad luck with one sony,but not with another sony model- u can get the bad luck with every brand,happens all the time,everywhere.

Thank you for the advice but I returned the phone already, FOR ME PERSONALLY was a total waste of money and not worth it, there were to many things that I didn't like and the UI itself has some illogical things but the worst of all was the auto dimming of the brightness which became more and more worse. If for you P20 is a good phone , sure keep it for a lot of time, for me it was just a waste of money and I will never get another Huawei phone in my life. I will really miss the front camera which was great and the back cameras but other than this nothing to miss about it . And BTW to make someone a fanboy of something just because he had a bad experience or he just doesn't like a product is lower than trolling in my opinion. My answer is to u and to all of them who really have pw0 because its so easy to me to see that so many of them who post their comments dont have this phone at all(mostly,its samsung fans-trolls)- now,u probably know Huawei has NPU that will adjust to your needs- i was confused in first couple of days why does it use so much ram memory and why its(sometimes) so lagy(not lagy like samsung,but not fluid like sony or htc)- but i already knew about NPU so i waited! As days go by performance only gets better and better and no ram consumption like before.So,just use your phone NOU doing it for u it can only be better.

Nah u new to emui rite? I know how it works after experienced them. Emui 5 was good, zero lag and super smooth. However starting from emui 8 that comes with the AI learn system, u'll be a bit frustating because its a bit stutter here and there. But fear not, the AI learn system needs a few days to learn your usage pattern and when it does, it'll become super smooth after few days and even better ram management and battery life than emui 5! About the screen dimming, owns 2 huawei's phone and not sure whats the problem with the dimming, never experience them. And oh yeah, that Damir Franc reviewer a guy that always hates emui lol.

After using the P20 , I regret buying it a lot ! Worst phone I ever had and why do I say this ? Because first comes the super annoying auto dimming that all Huawei are suffering from and they never , ever fixed it , second the GPU is horrible in games , it's the worst GPU I have ever seen in 10 years since I am using smartphones , third the OS is very inconsistent , it works perfect now and then stutters for no reason , it behaves like a very low end phone , forth is the horrible quality of the video and it's super bad in 4K . I didnt played,i really had and have Huawei,Sony,Htc,Alcatel,Lg,Samsung,Nokia,Siemens­ etc phones,even old sony ericcson with cybershot csmeras and xenon flash.This is the first android camera that stand close to cybershot sony cameras(its now available only on Sony digital cameras)- u said photos are oversaturated- no they are not- its the screen that has vivid colors(that i really love!)- so the photos look vivid too- if u transfer them to a phone,pc,that doesnt have saturated colors- photos wont be saturatrd(already tested it) but they will still be goid(unlike samsungs that look bad when there is no amoled screen)- anyway both camera and phone are great! I actually owned all of them because I'm a private smartphone re-seller :). This is the reason why I had and have many of them. Also I can play with phones for the I want to. I decide when it's enough and time to sell it or... whether it's worth to keep it. So... P20 went down the sale. NOT WORTH TO KEEP IT :). Regarding the modes, I do not like to hassle around them, switch between them often for whatever reason. I just want to pick up my phone, shot straight away and get the best possible result in 99% cases. And this is where Pixel 2 really shines! Don't have time and aspiration to tweak photos in editors on computer either. P20 pro / manual photo mode produces underexposed, dark, "grey" pictures all the time. Auto mode makes hugely oversaturated, overcontrasted pictures, very often with boosted up particular colors. And I clearly see lack of details in both modes in comparison to Pixel 2, horrible chromatic aberrations on tree branches etc etc. Just zoom a little bit any picture taken from P20 on PC and you will see... It all would be quite okay if Huawei haven't positioned this phone as the revolutionary best cameraphone on the market and haven't asked more than NZ$500 for it. So...my NO to P20!

What you gonna say about this: Look, I can give you dozens more reviews showing that P20 Pro camera is just a fuss. And I'll say it again, Pixel 2 with "just" one camera does better job in 99% situations. Finally, low light photography is the last thing I consider when I buy a new phone. As I told before, I had Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 2X, Nexus 6P, Galaxy S8, Huawei P20, Huawei Mate 10 all at the same time. I can say with full confidence that the latest Huawei P20 can offer nothing but nice design blatantly copied from iPhone X. That's it. End of story. And again, P20 camera is just disappointment, nothing else. I still keep S8, Nexus 6P (backup phone), use Pixel 2 for now. Very happy that have managed to get rid of P20 with minimal losses. I admit that Chinese phones can have quality hardware, materials and design. But software / OS side is always full of bugs and other annoying crap and clearly loose to Samsung. So I'm planning to get S9 US version soon. Pretty sure that P20 / P20 Pro are not anywhere around it in all aspects.

Very strange. All P20 models don't have no info about what kind of glass they use, and I think they use some Huawei made glass that is not that good as gorilla glass. (check Jerry rigs every thing) Huawei uses a chip house made glass that is not as good as gorilla glass. Also I believe they skipped the oleophobic coating this is the reason all Huawei phones are coming with pre-installed screen protectors.

My P20 has a glitch. If I go to system Navigation settings and choose ofscreen navigation button setting and restart the device, the phone gets stuck in freeze boot loop. I had to end up factory resetting the device. tried recreating this 4 times and I succeeded. Also tried on a demo device in a retail shop and succeeded. Does any one else have this problem?

I review all photos on good quality 24" Full HD screen with IPS matrix. Unfortunately I can't say that P20 makes better pictures than even Nexus 6P in many scenarios. Google Pixel camera (both 1st and 2nd) beats P20 easily. I wish it was not true but... that's how it is. So very disappointed and re-selling P20 now. Thankfully I still have my Pixel 2 :).

I'd say that P20 camera isn't any better than S8. Shots from P20 are inconsistent. Default photo mode (AI enabled) makes oversaturated, overcontrasted pictures. Pro (AI disabled) mode gives grayish dim photos with lack of "life" and colours. Also auto focus is unstable. But this is just what I see, my personal opinion.

I do have Nexus 6P, Pixel 2, Galaxy S8 and Huawei P20 on hands right now. Have made a lot of side-by-side shots. So I know what I'm talking about. P20 makes good pictures at night but looses to above mentioned phones in other scenarios. it is said that Huawei can't hire good programmers to make all these advanced hardware pieces work properly together. Obviously Google have them. That's it. Anyway, if you doesn't bother with camera perfection P20 is a brilliant phone for sure.

Jumped into this phone after Pixel 2 in hope that it really does have better camera. After playing with it for couple of days I can say with full confidence that the main camera is not as good as Pixel, Pixel 2, iPhone 8, iPhone X, Nexus 6P or even heavily criticized Galaxy S8. Very frustrated with this fact, feel deceived. So the only merits of P20 to my point of view are modern design (bloody notch can be effectively "switched off" in Settings :), premium materials, build quality and size. Got very annoyed with absence of Always-On Display mode. So if you still have Galaxy S8, relax and enjoy it!

Mate 10 pro looks like the better phone overall. it has 6GB RAM, water resistance, 4000mah battery and an OLED screen. What I like about it also is the rear-mounted fingerprint reader, which to me is much easier to use than front-mounted. Only caveat is the lack of a headphone jack.

The only thing that stops me from buying it is old (last year) chipset. To my opinion, it's not fair to as "full price" for it. "Kirin 970 is amazing and fast enough chip" is not excuse for me. Brand new, latest model smartphone with last year chipset sounds dodgy by definition. All this reminds me the story with the latest Chinese jet fighter - J-20 Chendu which has ...engine from the previous model :).

Well I saw the Mate 10 new on Ebay sellers with gaurantee for 430 eur, the P20 was 650 eur here. I don't know about the Mate 10, I just got one a few days ago and my camera doesn't seem good, maybe it's just me but it seems too soft and not sharp. (I changed from a OnePlus 5t and I thought the 5t camera wasn't good) I don't think you should get the Mate 10 if it's the same price, I am sure the P20 is better because it's newer. (Also when you look for camera specs of the Mate 10 they don't publish the pixel sizes anywhere :/ only the f-stop). So if it's the same price, go for the p20 for sure. Maybe Oneplus just has fast phones but the mate 10 also seems slow when going through the OS.

Hi, This should be your own decision. I wanted to buy to Mate 10 pro, but I didn't like size, it was too big for me. Therefore I have waited and already ordered the P20, basically the same specs minus the battery and IP proofing. Smaller body size, improved camera and I like the design better. And its a fresher model and also slightly cheaper. cheers

Personally i feel the P series phones are better than the Samsung S range because of price. I currently have the P9 Lite and while this is considered an entry level phone at around R2600 brand new it fairs really well against the S series, the only phones in the S series which currently outdo it are the S8 and S9. In saying this the P9lite has half as many features as the P20 so i have no doubt that the P20 will outdo the S8 and S9.... with regards to pricing and features. the main feature on the S8 that outdoes the P9 lite is the camera however the P20 outdoes the P9lite second to none with regards to camera. The interface of the Huawei is very user friendly and the phones come with the developer option which can be accessed on the S series but it is not a standard feature that shows up , you must know what you are doing to access this feature which i guess is to help avoid unwanted changes in terms of developer mode but if you know what you are doing then the Huawei offers a better developer option with more features. Im a solid Huawei fan..... i must say though that i used to be a solid S series fan and never had phones which werent part of the S series so Huawei has stolen me away

I am a p9 lite user. Impressive phone but this notch... is sOOO ugly and obtrusive. The old design was better. 128 GB are more than enough for a phone so the removal of the SD card is not much of a problem. The headphone jack is missing on the p20 pro... Would be good if they remove it on the other phones next year. For this price I expected better processor (Qualcomm and Exynos are one step ahead this year so I can't wait to see Kirin 980 and 660/670). I really hope to see a better design without notch on the next release + better battery and a new processor.

Get rid of that ugly notch and to be fair to the consumers, manufacturers should state the screen size after deducting the space taken out by the notch. Why remove the support for SD card? It is true that they are not as good or reliable as built-in memory but at least leave it there as an option for users. I was considering upgrading my old Honor 8 to this one but what a disappointment. They could have at least upgrade the camera on the non-pro models. If this is the direction that Huawei is taking, I am seriously considering switching to Nokia.

Wow apple attempted to make a full screen phone but with a notch cause somehow they can’t take away the front camera, front stereo speakers, mic and other sensors which are very important. Now that a lot of android phones emerge with the same notch but not with the same technology that it houses. The notch of the iphone X was not meant for the design alone but with a purpose. Lol. How come that there are too many manufacturers out there can’t make up on their design that they even manage to copy the positioning of the camera? Most of these copycats however failed to make their own version of iphone X in making it look like fuller as it has thick bezel at the bottom. Crazy. It doesn’t even look proportion (with the exception of the notch) since the bezels around the corner are not uniform. I don’t understand why would big manufacturers out there such as huawei, Asus, LG, Vivo and Oppo would just shamelessly copy the design of apple with their iphone X versions. Apple has been very good with the performance of their camera in their iphones for years now however I still prefer Nokia for firing photos and they were very advance since day 1 with the raw images! I was so sad with the recently released huawei p20 boasting their camera when I think I’ve seen it all back in nokia days.
