Kyocera Rise C5155 - User Reviews

  • Do you still have it?

  • Send me your address and ill send you My POS Rise. It crashes no matter what app you try and use, the launcher crashes, Netflix cant connect or when it does connect it loads constantly....wont send texts or make calls, ive had it 2.5 months now and they sent me an HTC one V and I have zero issues. My last wonderful Kyocera Event was just as bad, I traded that in for a $350 credit at Verizon for an HTC M9. Hate to say it but the most reliable phones I've had in 20 years were Nokia, Motorola, and now with smartphones, HTC. I'd get an iPhone but ii like Android too much. If my carrier let's me keep the Rise, and you want it, ill give you my email so you can send me your address, and you can experience all the pain I dealt with. I didn't read any negative complaints yet but I'm sure I had all the same issues if not more. Also, all I did was update the factory installed apps and Netflix, and the memory was full and wouldn't update anymore apps, same issue my Event had. Glad you love yours....

  • Yaknow, I don't think enough people are pointing this out, but... it's one of the last cells that has a slide-out keyboard! Some of us old-schoolers hate touchscreens, and my Rise does everything I need it to do, with a keyboard that I can tell when I push the button down. As long as Kyocera makes this, I will use it!

  • how can i put a signature for when i send a text message?

  • +Anonymous to delete phone numbers, touch your contact decal, when brings up, touch person want to delete or the number of person(old), then touch on black part of your phone the line lit up ( menu where "home" ) and it will give menu to edit, delete just delete and continue on, until your done. I would like to know how to add airtime when it tells me to click here and signed into google and says can not connect

  • the phone is working just fine i have had the phone for a year now. it works perfectly the apps does not slow my phone down or anything.Kindly use your manuals wiseley because there is nothing wrong with the phone its basic and easy...........thanks for reading.

  • Incredible Phone, never a Problem everything works and no App problems I have 32GB of Rm and the phone just hold all my Music and Pictures. I love this phone and would buy the next one too.

  • Can you help me,? I want to delete phone numbers phone won't let me,recalls number!! Also need help with messages thank you

  • The people that post the bad comment is the one that do not know how to used the phone. The people that add the bad comment and the one that most of them is the first time using a android phone i had the phone for sometime and no problem yet....

  • would like to know how gsmarena gets there scoring for this phone from// showing voting results 7.7 7.2 7.2 if phone got such a respectable score why most comments about this phone has been so HORRIBLE. Would like to know how much time did they spend with notonly this phon but all of them to give the scores they got.. would have kept it if not for so many VERY BAD REVIEWS. phome seems decent enough while holding & going thru it.. would REALLY like a response from GSMARENA.COM. took phone back because of so many bad reviews THANK YOU ALL THAT TOLD THERE TRUTHS ABOUT THIS PHONE. Saved mbr time , money & would have been truely angry is had activated it i got simular or same results as so many of yo did. THANK YOU AGAIN

  • So the users that do not know about a android phone can keep adding bad comments about a phone that you do not know how to use....

  • I have used the phone for at least 3 months and i have found that the phone just became slow and unresponsive due to the apps.If u have a lot of apps that will slow this phone down and let it give you a lot of problem..

  • keep posting all ur negative comment it still does not fixes anything.Again i have had this phone for 3 to 4 months now and and there is nothing wrong with it.This phone is the best thing i have ever had.The phone is not the problem its u the users of it that does not know how to use it.All u that place the negative taughts are stupid and dumb and a bunch of fools.!LOLZ!

  • i did buy this phone for a friend apprx 1 month ago 1st most review read were good// then all of sudden walmart took it off the list // i then read reviews again ^ very rarely did anyone say something good about phone // most were4 very neg as what i just red on this site// glad i didn't activate it & glad i took phone back got her a much better on LG Tribute she's using it pass 2 weeks with no problems at all @ least so far//knock on wood lol

  • U have to tale off the back where the battery is.its on the sideside

  • this is the worst phone I have ever owned! It freezes up all the time and I have to take the battery out and put it back in to make a phone call. It is very slow. I would not refer this phone to anyone.

  • Not everyone is an expert like you with phones. Unlike us, it takes a while for us to get used to some things.

  • are u stupid?now why would u want a phone dumber than what u have would it not make you more frustrated.think before u speak dummy

  • Too bad for all of you with negative comments. This piece of Jelewry works like a baby in my country.

  • i dont think the phone is the problem.its you the users that are dumb not to know how to use it lolz!!!

  • The question is:Does the phone uses a sim card? answer:No and learn to spell please.

  • das de phone uses a sim card?

  • Piece of shit phone. Pretty much just stops working in general once youve had it for a certain amount of time.

  • this phone is slow and uresponsive. do not buy this phone.

  • mr i by one phone kyocera rise c5155 what how do use gsm sime new sim how put in side the phone no palse pli tell me my emill i send your send message ok sir iam witeng for your message my adrese [email protected] tanks sir

  • I just had to look up the reviews on this phone after being stuck with it for about 4 months now. I'm cracking up while reading about the similar experiences "phone is more confused than I am", "slow, unresponsive, error messages on every app (INCLUDING THE PHONE)", it's bad when the phone on your phone gives you errors, it's so slow that you always hit the wrong buttons since you're usually 2 or 3 buttons ahead of it. The camera is awful beyond excuse. I got stuck with this thing when I broke my S4 and sprint had nothing to offer and very little interest with keeping my business. I just ordered another S4 now that my contract with sprint expires next week. I checked the sell back value just for grins and t-mobile will pay you a grand total of $1 for one of these used and in good condition. I look forward to gently placing this useless paperweight on a concrete slab, putting my safety glasses on, and going to work on it with a 16 lb sledge.

  • Not a great phone, incapable of many apps, seems to have trouble with apps that want access to photos (i.e. snapchat). Crashing is common, slow and unresponsive the majority of the time, battery length is short if using network or wifi. Not a quality phone, would rather buy a 'dumber' phone than deal with this one's frustrations.

  • This is the most problematic phone I've ever owned. Save your money folks. Sometimes the phone doesn't even work! Multiple "is not responding" error messages on virtually every application. oulf go on and on. Even followed the trouble shooting tips. Buying a different smartphone asap!

  • I just need an instruction manual for this. I might be able to use it better.

  • Its screen freezes constantly. I had to remove battery and put it back in order to get it run again. Sometimes, it would not turn back on for hours. If I had to use it for emergency, I would be dead. I'm buying a better phone. Kyocera Rise is terrible.

  • This phone is the biggest piece of crap, freezes up ,makes calls on its own, can't play music I own from sd card, in fact it can't do anything from the sd card Ihope they go out of business if this is what they offer as a top of the line phone fooey

  • Worst phone ever. Had it two months and the screen died. Piece of trash.

  • How to insert Sim

  • I've used a Rise for about a year and a half. I'm replacing it next month with a Motorola Photon Q. It's an indestructible little bugger. As others have commented, there's 4 small screws behind the battery cover that periodically need to be tightened with a jewelers screwdriver, or else the slider starts to flop around. Otherwise, it's very sturdy and you can really bang it around with no fear of breaking the case or screen. Performance has been... mixed. When I first got it, it performed OK, but with every set of software updates, the core phone apps have gotten bigger and bigger, and performance has gotten more and more sluggish. The phone occasionally crashes when using some of the more heavyweight apps, like Navigation or Maps. Navigation is a guaranteed crash/reboot after 10-15 miles. I'm forced to conclude it just isn't powerful enough to handle Android 4.x - this device should either have been sold with Android 2.3, or should have gotten an extra 512MB of ram. This is a large factor in why I'm upgrading.

  • Of note though...there are little screws on back under cover that will get loose....this messes with the keyboard and everything else. I discovered this and because I hate the cost of buying a new phone I simply used an eyeglasses repair screwdriver to tighten them and use a cheap snap on bling cover I purchased for like $5. If the screws ever do come out they will most likely stay in case. A hassle for some but at the cost of new phones I'll continue to do a little tweaking on this one. I actually have a iphone 5 sitting in a case just dread the cost per month of using it so I continue with my little rise and vm. Lol

  • I have had this phone a couple of years...I have dropped it more than once ( it's in a case) found my 8 year old on it, it's not great for say playing games or fast activities although I also have an ipad so I could also download the old version on my phone and it works ok...battery life is short but I bought extra batteries on ebay keep them charged up and pop them in phone when not close to an outlet something you can't do with a lot newer phones... I also use virgin mobile so my cost per month is minimum so I have no complaints...if you want to play facebook games you can download photon flash app but be aware the phone is not fast.

  • my kyocera rise touch screen wont work but i can still use the keyboard i've tried turning it on and off but it still doesn't work does anyone know what i can do?

  • I don't recommend it. I've had this phone (2nd) for less than 6 months. I HATE IT!

  • is good

  • This is a sorry phone sometime you can't answer it because activity phone not responding..if you call someone and when you press end it calls number again this phone is more confused than me.cant wait to get another with a new network.my old flip phone was much better.kyocera rise is a dumb phone. Iu hate it and would not recommend it

  • This phone is terrible. The WORST phone I have ever had...This is my 3rd Kyocera Rise....they ALL start freezing and restarting, and havea major delay with EVERYTHING...all within the first month....So now mybbelief is this phone was made solely to be a rip off

  • This phone is garbage. After a few months it just crashes all the time. A lot of the time it just freezes and restarts itself. Don't buy this piece of crap.

  • This is the best android phone i have had and i also had issues with my first one crashing or should i say it just stopped working but i bought the warranty with walmart and they are great even though calling virgin mobile i didnt have to use the walmart warranty because it is still under warranty with virgin mobile and in 2 days i had a brand new phone with no issues except for playing the castleville legends which takes up a lot of space on any phone, other wise it is great. The only thing i keep doing is hitting the volume button so it turns the ringer off easily which sometimes isn't a bad thing lol but i recommend this phone to anyone and i paid 39.99 on sale at walmart.... it was the best choice i made

  • Where can I found the sim slot of a c5155 model?thank you

  • the batterylife sucks i thing i overcharged my bat it on last like 5 hours fully charged the hingers pop and it comes apart other then that its fine

  • This is a great phone but some times it hangs due to excessive use of applications may be due to RAM 512 MB which is less,it should be increased, else it got no problem. Battery has to be changes after every year or so. I dropped it several time on roads and used it in snow and rain it works great. Robust one

  • My phone never had any issues in Ontario! It is an excellent cheap device - my respect to Kyosera!

  • Hi, I bought this phone when it first came out. Over a year later I can't fine any thing wrong with it. I have never had any problems works great in the cold and the heat, can't count how many time I've drop it...I just love it

  • My daughter had this phone for almost a year before I inherited it from her. It does what it is supposed to do, has held up well under a teenager's abuse, and is working great for me. You can buy this phone for 29.99 now at Target, for Virgin Mobile. It's MUCH better than the previous phone I had. There are phones on the market that are much more expensive and do less than this one does. I definitely recommend it! BTW... if you purchase a phone at Best Buy, and say it costs 100 bucks, you can purchase a warranty for 10 bucks that covers any kind of damage, even water damage. My daughter had a LG OPtimus Prime before this one, and she had to have it replaced twice during the year. The 2dn time they gave her this phone instead, and I am sure she didn't treat it any better, but it held up for almost a year before she gave it to me. Not bad.

  • I've used this phone for 5 months and can't say I've had any issues with it.

  • This Phone Is Stupid I dropped it and it stopped working the front didnt even crack it just stop working

  • This phone sucks. Battery sucks. Connection sucks everywhere. Screws fell out, now just duct taped it together. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

  • well that only happens when your running ti many apps or trying to do to many things at once

  • i have had the phone for a year now and the only thing i found wrong with during that year was it could be a bit fast for what it is and just yesterday the phones screws came out (for the key board )and then i was walking and pull my phone out of my pocket and tried to unlock the phone and nothing happen so i said might be dead tried turning the phone on and nothing happened so i said i was dead went home put it on the charger not even the red LED light turned on so the screen gave out just as well as the keyboard screw my rating on the phone is a really poor rating hope none of this happens again

  • I was using it one day and all of a sudden it shut down. I thought the battery was dead so I charged it. However, that did nothing for the phone. I read that the battery life was terrible on these phones so I bought a new one to see if that would help but it did nothing. I'm not sure why, but my phone won't go past the virgin mobile home screen. Very frustrating to say the least!

  • I bought my phone a few months ago and have no complains at all. It is an excellent inexpensive phone with a pretty good, convenient keyboard - never had any problems with this phone. The quality is overall very good. I would suggest this phone to anyone who wants to save a lot of money. Instead of buying expensive smartphones, look at this simple and reliable device. The poor reception is not up to this phone, but rather some dead zones where the signal is not strong enough..

  • Had it for a few days now, no issues at all, got it for 59.00 at target, it does a lot more than I expected for that little money. Hope it stays the same for a while, it is worth a good try for that kind of money.

  • It doesn't work properly in Ontario. Poor reception ++

  • I've had this phone for a month. Big mistake. The battery life is unbelievably short... In a weak signal area, the battery is dead in about 4-5 hours. I even bought a stand-alone charger and a spare battery, which turns out to be necessary for any serious use of this phone. My advice? Consider another pone.

  • WORST PHONE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIIIIFFEEE! I thought my metro piece of issh was bad!!!! WOW! Finally crashed completely on me tonight. I'm actually happy about it happening. No wonder it was free at radio shack. Never again!

  • hey do u know if this phone can wrk in Guyana

  • You have to try another sd card I had the same problem got another card working ok.

  • recommend Onite 2x 1500mAh Li-ion Battery for Kyocera Rise C5155 on Amazon.

  • Onite 2x 1500mAh Li-ion Battery for Kyocera Rise C5155, Kyocera Hydro C5170, Kyocera Event C5133 (Sprint, Virgin Mobile), with a charger www.amazon.com/dp/B008TAPXSC

  • I've had it for four months now and have never had a problem with it except Sprint towers were messed up last week. But the phone itself has had no problems. I enjoy it and I enjoy having a better os than 2.3. Good phone.

  • Give it a 4 out of 5. Had it for about 2 months now. Works well, haven't had the crash issues the others mentioned. But I know that Android comes out with updates/patches all the time and I presume the others were prior to some patch that fixed their issues. One key thing is that the keys are sensitive on the on the keyboard, and just from sliding the screen open, it is pretty easy to hit several of the keys. Also, system buttons like volume and power are also very sensitive. but the problem with that is that playing video games or other 2 handed control, makes it difficult to grip without accidentally powering down, turning on the volume or taking a picture. A week ago, I turned debugging on, and have been installing custom apps, with little to no issue. Its battery life has been reasonably good. With WIFI on, Data plan on, Blue Tooth on, and regular usage of web, it lasts about two days. Though some of the games will drain the battery in an hour or two. I have noticed it gets hot when playing the battery draining games, almost uncomfortably so. But I use that as a sign that I have played too long. :)

  • did u format the micro sd?

  • i've had it about 12 hours now. it's crashed about 40 times.

  • The same happens to me after ten days and bad signal all time...

  • phone is good...any one help me..when i insert 8gb memory card it doesnt support but in the gmarena info it shows it support upto 32gb.what the problem i m living in canada service with public mobile co.

  • LOVE THIS PHONE!!! God, my last Kyocera feature phone was one of the worst pieces of rubbish I have ever had. The UI sucked. This phone, however, is brilliant. It's not perfect - the screen resolution is not very good, the camera is horrible. Also, the Virgin Mobile network basically sucks. BUT - it was $80 on sale brand new, no contract (Virgin Mobile). As a budget phone, it's great. Does all the basic phone stuff great, and runs all the apps I need very well. Very well built and solid, numerous hard drops no problems. The difference is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - it feels reasonably quick and snappy, I am pleased with the performance even if it's obviously no powerhouse. Compared to my last budget android, the abysmal Samsung Intercept, this phone is just soooooooooo much better. It made me fall in love with Android. If you want a welcoming intro to the Android universe, here's your choice. I've moved on to a high end phone, but I gave this to my daughter (and use it myself for maps and Kindle reading), and it's still serving us very well.

  • This is a great phone....bought for wife's b'day in Oct. and had to take back(crashed) and have had no problems with replacement(best buy handed me another one). It is pretty fast for 1ghz, keyboard isn't bad(i have big hands), touchscreen accurate, it is CDMA so make sure you have good coverage, can't swap to StraightTalk sim.

  • that has happened to me too, when you bought your newbattery did it ever get hot again?

  • Just buy this phone two weeks now.the battery gets hot for no reason had to replace it apps keeps crashing

  • very good phone, when become in colombia???
