  • You should be able to download wechat for it. Unless your phone is rooted. You might have difficulties to download some apps from playstore.

  • You might need 3rd party apps from playstore to move those apps from internal to external storage.

  • A880. A cheap smartphone money can buy. Lack of video call via 3g. Default rom svcks. But once rooted, you can do whatever you want, with care. Some carrier in some country were unable to set carrier setting automatically where you have to do it manually in sim setting. Both front and rear camera are moderately good according to its price. Overall, I give it 8 stars out of 10.

  • Just 1 word "DAMN". The best phone I've ever used.Not sure why, but i bought a secondhand one in Malaysia(RM400/$110) and its suprising passed far by my expectation. I use this for gaming, name it, Asphalt 8, Gangstar Vegas, MC 4, Injustice, NFSMW, nova 3, Dead Trigger 1&2 works flawlessly. I even rooted this phone and use GLTools to push the graphic& adding A-A(MC3&4).Trust me, I never feels any heat produce no matter how intense I use(not using any cover). I can play Asphalt 8 around 5-6 Hours on high grphic without losing any performance (Thanks to 2500MaH battery). This little beast can stand to 3 days with moderate use. I use thetering a lot for my laptop and battery drains so fast and getting too hot. 3 hours and its dead especially when on heavy usage (ofcourselol,downloading 3GB PC games at 700kbps-1.2mb in 2-3 Hours). I'm a proud owner of Lenovo a880. I'm really lucky to own this phone while my friend having crazy battery drain, hot like hell, sluggish gaming performance, random freeze while using high price smartphone like Samsung.

  • Been using this Lenovo a880 for 12 month, I am using two unit concurrently, one for serious business purpose other one for backup, both phone are amazing durable, I drops each few time but it keeps working without trouble. Both phone had flash to custom roms, (MIUI, lewa, tron v3, cmw, L style, many others... ), this phone is one of the easiest to flash and root, having 4 unit battery for standby, With it 1.3ghz processor and 1gb ram it is good enough for daily usage, I pair it with a 64gb SD card. When it first bought, there are few issues with the original ROM, including screen on itself while nobody touching it, it drained battery! Too many unwanted Chinese apps which can't be uninstall! Speaker sound too soft difficult to hear including headset, mic and loud speaker, Solved all problems all together by flashed to custom ROM, currently using MIUI ROM, MIUI ROM v5 is the best out of many which have small issues here and there! My advice to all people who trying to buy this phone, if you are good in flashing ROM, go for it, tq.

  • My friend use this phone, and its very nice. The price is affordable and the screen is statisfying. Mp4 video in HD is nice The cpu also ok, not slow or hang sometimes. All apps can use wechat, whatsapp, and games theres no problem. Just the call logs cant delete all at the same time. Must one by one. I planned to buy it for my mother. The price is soo cheap but very statisfying. Although im using galaxy mega. I love this phone too.

  • Hi, I recently bought a lenovo from singapore while on holiday there. Yes you can download apps from play store. I have had no problems in that area. The one negative thing I have found with this phone is the battery life is not good otherwise its a great phone. Cheers

  • Well with Lenovo A889 there's a few problems which I encountered with full dissapointment. First is whenever I'm opening like at least 15 apps it starts to lag which is understandable but once it lags some of the apps will start to crash such as "Unfortunately, blablabla has crashed" second issue.. Whenever you're watching a video.. When someone texts you.. The video will stop playing and will have to redownload the entire video.. If you accidently lock your screen, it will also have the same problem. And Also the Music.. First you can't change songs when you're in the lock screen nor can you even pause it which really enrages me.. And last but not least.. The front camera..looks like shit I mean I don't take selfish or anything but its really bad

  • Install App Manager it will show u which app can or cannot move to sd card. Some apps only run in internal storage, if u move it may not work.

One disappointment--not fitted with a magnetic sensor, as a result all apps incorporating magnetic compass does not work. very unbecoming of a quadcore set, even the lowly Samsung Galaxy Y is fitted with a magnetic sensor and all apps involving magnetic compass works fine in it.

  • I know Android 4.2.2 which this phone uses is supposed to have screen mirroring or Miracast. Lenovo's implementation does not have a display wifi option which many phones with Miracast capability have. I tried wifi direct which manages to connect a dongle and reads the phone settings but stays at ready to display but the switchover of phone screen to tv doesn't happen.   • The Chinese characters actually indicates the country location of the caller. I guess this is because of the system font is in Simplified Chinese of which I believe can only be changed when we have root our phone. It doesn't mean the phone's not original.

  • I posted earlier about the phone random reboot problem. I found it's because I forcefully cancelled app updates using Lenovo Launcher. Updating the apps using the Lenovo Launcher is very slow. The Lenovo Launcher also seemed to cause battery life depleting so fast, the charging time also annoyingly slow. I uninstalled every app that I upgraded using Lenovo Launcher. Then re-install using Google Play Store. Then I installed GO Launcher to replace the Lenovo Launcher. The random reboot and battery issue resolved, plus the phone feels much more responsive than before. This phone is surprisingly good with its price tag. I bought it online. When it arrived I thought it was a bit too big, but now I'm very satisfied with the quality and don't really care anymore with its sheer size. Camera quality is so-so, autofocus is fast. Browsing is great, I use Chrome browser. Navigating with Waze, sometimes the GPS suddenly gone way off, but app restart will resolve the problem. Not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue. What really changed my experience with the phone is using GO Launcher instead of Lenovo Launcher, so I really recommend that app. I can't wait to have a Kit Kat custom ROM installed on the phone when it's ready and stable.

So basically the truth is the seller's r reaping profits from consumer demand. I suggest you go for A880.

My preferred phones have always been Sony due to their well-balanced price-specs ratio (e.g.Xperia SP, C, TX, ZR, ZL etc). Only this year I have been impressed by Lenovo's new line of products which provides even better price-specs ratio. Regarding Lenovo S939, yes I'm well aware of this device but to be honest, I prefer S930 which is RM230 cheaper since it has better design and dual speakers. My S930 got 17,500 Antutu Score and I consider that more than enough since i can play ALL HD GAMES (N.O.V.A, modern combat, asphalt 8, shadowgun, etc) without lags. Trust me, the dual speakers are really AMAZING! Plus, I'm not yet convinced in spending RM1000 for Lenovo, which is admittedly less popular. Might as well just add few more bucks and buy Xperia ZR/ZL/Z which is more popular and advanced.

  • The model S939 is latest model with Octacore processor and 8mp camera. 6 inch like A880. The antutu benchmark score is 28500, beating Samsung Galaxy S4. Price RM999... at those two popular wholesale phone shop. (name disclosed). I suggest we Malaysian should not buying Samsung product....selfish and arrogant K-Pop phone.

  • Look the battery only 2500mah. Off course u cant compare with those premium phones of Samsng n sony. I suggest to ensure your battery to last longer, you got to frequently charge your phone during the first week you use this phone. This is a process to 'break in' the battery. Then, when this model become common, you can start to find extra battery. Its better have extra so you can swap one battery and rest the other one. This always better than have one battery full time charged with power bank.

  • great phone suit with price. used abt 2 weeks. using mini sim card=normal sim card # camera not bad, better than my samsung s2!!!. 5mp compare to 8mp, better! # heavy games no laggy, playing video so smooth. # screen touch fast n smooth. internet so great with wifi or mobile data(umobile). # speaker, yes its not so good,but its not too bad. # power and volume button, its so crazy, hard to handle. im using atom launcher for my a880, its really nice. so fa so good. overall 8.8/10 for this bloody.

  • No problem with wechat. Maybe u need to look into lenovoSafe setting. My battery can stand for 3 days without any internet connection with basic use. To print screen, just hold volume down+power button together for 1 second. About blank screen when make a call, maybe u can go to call setting to turn off dark screen menu.

  • i've been using this phone foe a few weeks now. bought it for RM550(local warranty). overall this phone is good for it's price. one thing i dont like my battery cant last for one day. lenovo suppose to have a longer lasting battery use.

She had tried to press the 'on' button but the screen wont turn up. What is possible cause for this? Do you know? Anyway I've already sold or bought 7 units for all my friends in just 2 weeks.   • 1 - If u facing hard to turn on phone, just remove battery and put back, then turn on your phone 2 - if u facing google play stop working, just go to setting > apps > running > google play and uninstall update 3 - if u facing system update error ( unfortunately setting has stop ) its just a OS bug. wait for new rom with better coding Camera is fine for me. all picture have great quality and size. just need to learn how to setting camera menu. overall this phone is good. with LenovoSafe Software, u dont need anymore clean master,adblock,memory boost or other software. All In One in LenovoSafe is enough

  • I've paid only RM535 for this phone. For that price, this phone is AMAZING!! A If u r willing to spend RM800, the only other phone u need to look at is Lenovo S930, which I also own n bought for RM789 with 2 years warranty. Don't buy P780 or any other 2012 Lenovo models, it's quite buggy. S930 Pros: 1) Sharper screen 2) Better & Smoother UI with tons of useful features - Smart dial, Pocket Mode, Shake Lock, Smart Answer etc.... 3) Better Camera Features & Image/Video Quality - Sound & Shot, Gif Creator, Video stabilizer, etc 4) Better design - Slim n light weight 5) Front Facing Dual Dolby Speakers - Trust me, it's really GREAT! 6) Can install apps directly to sd card. 7) Have Compass 8) Accessories include tangle-free in-ear earphones (A880 has no earphones btw) Lenovo A880 pros: 1) Really really cheap (RM530 vs RM789 = RM239. That's a huge savings!) 2) Better handling (Same size screen as S930 but smaller size due to lack of front facing speakers) My advise is if you really can spare RM800 for a phone, buy Lenovo S930. But if u run out of cash, buy A880. Either way, you won't regret buying any of these phones for their respective prices since both of em have the same performance.

  • Yes ur right. Currently i have A850 then i bought this model for my wife. Better than A850 in term of storage and bigger screen plus pre build root access! So no need to flash rooted and custom rom. Awesome

  • Finally GSMArena has added this phone to their database. Had a chance to play with this device recently. Amazing price (only RM535/US$165 with 2 years warranty). It's the best bang for Bucks. Pros compared to A850 (RM480/$150): 1) Bigger screen 3) Better build quality 4) More internal storage The only drawback of A-series Lenovo phones us you can't install apps directly to SD card (S-series Lenovo phones have this option) unless if you root the device. That's really the only reason I couldn't buy this phone. I'm a heavy gamer so 8GB is not enough for me. So, for those who wants to install a lot of apps n games, I suggest you to buy Lenovo S650 (RM560) or Lenovo S930 (RM789). I'm currently using Lenovo S930 and it's amazing, though much more expensive compared to Lenovo A880. A piece of advice, Don't buy 2013 Lenovo models (S820, S920, P780 etc) coz their UI sucks and it lags compared to 2014 models due to older generation processors & GPUs.
