  • I updated to 5.0 "on the fly" , through phone : Settings / About phone /Common / Update center .... but then didn't get M update, had to do it via LGMobileSupportTool , connected to PC. Android M 6.0 is very good, no complains.

  • bro i had the same problem. i refurbished (flashed) the phone using LG UP tool. Use this simple method. He is telling about upgrade, but same tool can be used as refurbish option as well.

  • I bought an LG D858HK just over 1 year ago and it came with Android Version 4.2.2, and since then it hasn't updated, even with auto update turned on; nor will it update manually. I tried rooting it which worked twice, then tried to upgrade to marshmallow (4 times) following these instructions and each time it goes through all the motions smoothly without even a hitch from start to finish, but when I checked it still shows Android Version 4.2.2 and reverts back to the unrooting state. Has anyone got any ideas why it's not holding the marshmallow firmware update and the rooting?

  • Hi I'm completely new to android phones I'm looking for a 3GB RAM, 32 GB ROM, good dual sim, good battery (say like this 3000 mAh) phone. I'm planning to buy this LG G3 after reading the specifications, price etc online I live in the middle east . I do have a wifi and reasonable 3G data connection. I need a few advices 1) on xda you have mentioned android gear not working. Is it fixed yet or not because i do have a android watch. 2) how do i root and install twrp 3) in case there is official mm for D856 in the future how will i unroot the device and upgrade that way? Or will i be stuck to this custom rom?

  • The steps listed here worked with one exception...I needed to reboot my PC after installing the software. Installed the software on computer. Disconnected the phone from computer Reboot the computer Run the "LG Mobile Support Tool" Plug in the phone (do not install the software from the phone if that option is listed on your screen). I was doubtful it was going to work because the LG Mobile Support tool couldn't find my phone. I wasn't patient enough. Give it 2-3 minutes. I'm not sure what's going on but there is a lot of application activity and network activity happening while the spinner icon on the top left says "Connecting...." Eventually the phone icon displaying the text LGD858HK appears and in the main window on the right a message appears that a software upgrade is available. I clicked on Start Upgrade and the process completed without issue.

  • Yes, I'm using D858HK. @Malik To be honest after second cycle I'm not so sure about improoved battery life. It's obvious that new features improove battery life in standby but only if you let system manage all apps. In my case there is wifi, mail client and viber that I need all time and so I can't allow system to optimize battery for theese apps. Result is almost same like KK. For 7 hours standby over night from 100% battery drops to 92% with no use at all. Just for comparing my old Xperia T3 KK was not droping at all from 100% for 10 or even more hours at standby with same setup and apps. After all MM is sure better but for me and for my type of usage of D858HK (lock screen widgets, double buttons for call and sms at dialog) I must say that KK is way better organized and I'm trying to customize MM as KK for mentioned setup or I'll just downgrade to KK.

  • Hi Friends, Thanks alot for all post for update to Andriod 6.0 Just now i.e 14.03.16 i updated my mobile D858HK to Andriod 6.0 via LG Mobile support tool which i downloaded from LG Hong Kong site. I first downloaded usb drivers for windows from this link. than i downloaded lg mobile support tool, it shows me upgrade is available. File was 1992 MB so almost it took 20 minutes for me to downlaod. I downloaded via USB this 1992 file and than mobile took another 10 minutes and software got upgraded.

  • Updated my G3 D858HK to Marshmallow manually using LGUP. Very easy to use with an option to downgrade as well (if necessary). NO NEED TO ROOT. Love the new UI and very stable software. No glitch, battery is superb and very smooth overall. Trust me. update it to MM 6.0 V30a and you won't regret it...

  • Updated from KK to MM today. First impressions about speed are very good. Noticed increased temperature during update and setup but later (normal use) temp. is back to normal. MM is beautiful but there is a few issues witch bother me. First, there is no two buttons (for choosing from which sim) to make call or send message, second there is no widgets on lock screen (only notifications which act like widget for some aps but old feature is way better), third recent applications list is much better and organized in KK for me!!! Damn... those two buttons are mandatory for me and my work, so probably back to KK after testing battery on MM, maybe even root my phone and use KK dialer and sms apk (guessing it's possible). Anyone else experience same problems?

  • Don't expect any releases after this for this phone, historically most flagships only get 2 updates, and while this did skip Lollipop for some regions, officially the LG G3 has got 2 major updates (from KitKat to Lollipop to Marshmallow).

  • Dude, while you are definitely and asset on this forum on this phone, you should also stop exaggerating on some information you provide !!! E.g. you spoke of a original firmware for the 858 running 5.1, turned out it was a hacked version of of the D855. Now you speak that the new Marshmallow release is doing 3-4 days standby.. i have the same phone, running the MM firmware and standby is definitely good and better than the KitKat release. but if you use it rather low (as in about 30 mins of calls, around 1 hour of display user, the battery can last 2 days). And yes like another user pointed out with MM release the display does seem to take more power, but i don't mind it as the battery standby is still over a day, and the MM release is a lot more smoother, and has a lot of the quirky bugs sorted out compared to the KitKat and Lollipop LG firmware. For all those who keep posting, yes the Android Marshmallow release in the LG link (V30a) is an official release which is very stable and good.

  • Dear Friend, I upgraded my LG G3 (2GB RAM) with marshmallow. I have no problem. Yes, after, upgrading it, i did a factory reset and then i re-installed all other apps that i needed and it worked well. The only thing is that when you set QSLIDE, and you press on calendar push button, it shows the calendar window. However, if you press the contact push button, it appears and instantly disappears. This is becoz the 2 GB RAM is not enough. Else everything is fine. It's really nice with more options specially security features. Hope this will help you.

  • let me clear one thing, there is no Lg G3 D856 or D857 in UAE market officially. D855 and D858hk are the official models here. I can guarantee that Marshmallow is available for D858hk but for D856, sorry guys i dont have any update. 1st they told us that they will release but now not a single update. those having battery issues. guys have you tried CSE on flash tool. if not try that and make sure you have SDcard/sim card removed. if problem still exist, then try to factory reset your phone. for D856 users, go and get a MM custom ROM till official one came.   • You can actually update your OS from Kitkat to Lollipop. But personally, I like Kitkat better than Lollipop because I lost some cool features. Marshmallow has not arrived yet for LG G3 Dual LTE but GSMArena says it upgradable. If you are techie, you can actually push the update to your device.

  • Updated my G3 D858HK to Marshmallow and since then I have been suffering from excessive battery drain approximately 1% per minute when using the phone and the screen is on, I am lucky to get half a days use when before it would easily do a whole day. Have also noticed that it keeps dropping the WiFi connection, and I know it is not the router as other devices connected work perfectly. Need to roll back to lollipop.

  • Seems for the D858HK, unless you are in Hong Kong, OTA may not work. I have a D858HK which i used in Sri Lanka and it would not find new MM update. I then went ahead and updated it to MM manually using the flash tool, and did a CSE flash to clear all my data (with a major jump in version i felt it was worth reinstalling my phone, as i had software to restore my sms, calls, etc). The phone is indeed much more smoother, and the camera is now faster (like it was with my D855 running Android 5.0.2, the 4.4 version had a lag). I have been running MM 6 for over a week, and the phone has not shown any peculiar issues, and battery is also decent (the screen being the key consumer of power in my case).

  • hi, i flashed my d858hk to android 6... UX is smooth,scrolling in menu is very fast and no lag,but i feel battery is drain faster than v20d and v20e. LG added battery optimized to android 6 but i think this feature is not working well. i disabled all google app like hangout,google drive,google+,google speech but still i think battrey drain fast. this issue also exist in v20c andriod 5 but v20d and v20e android 5 not have this problem. or maybe just my phone drain fast..i dont know

  • in flash tool, their are two flash options: 1= normal flash: as i read that will not delete the media but i didnt try 2=cse flash: which remove all the data but the CSE flash is better because you will had fresh OS, you must backup all data, contacts and reinstall the apps . but believe after days from using android 6 MM, its better and faster with wonderful LG UI, you will not be sorry to flash it

  • to all those having D856. as far as ROM is concerned you can flash custom Android Marshmallow rom on your phone as D856/7/8 are same no difference only regions and bands. but to flash KDZ you will get error as I dont have d856 but i tried on vmware you can flash it on D856

  • One thing to note: When you install drivers thru mobile. It shows on mobile screen that installing drivers but actually it isnt installing. After clicking install drivers you have to go to my computer and then on removable drive and run setup.exe.

  • I own a d856 but my father owns a 858hk. I flashed his phone to mm using uptool. Use uptool its easy. I had the same problem but i did what i suggested you and it worked. I would advice you to use uptool because it does all the steps automatically including download mode. BUT INSTALL UPTOOL DLL FIRST AND THEN UPTOOL. I hope that uptool would work if flashtool isnt working for you.

  • Unknown device error fix. Uninstall lg uptool and all lg drivers. Then install lg drivers using the phone itself by going into usb options and install pc softwares. Then install lg uptool dll and then uptool itself it should work. I fixed this way.

  • architecture is same for D856/7/8/9 :) you can try the custom ROM 1st if it works for you then try the KDZ :) but if you want to try, try D858hk's kdz

My 858HK was on Android 4.4, and I avoided 5.0.2 as my previous D855 G3 had this version and I was not greatly impressed and found the 4.4.4 on my 858HK to be more mature. Saw the trail to what looked like the Android 5.1 update, but turned out that it was an hacked version of the D855, and thankfully did not update my phone. Saw this and unbelievably there is very little information about this official release. Downloaded and updated, and the phone is definitely working fine. However if you are expecting a lot of new capabilities, you are going to be disappointed. The camera app in particular has no new features, such as the full manual mode that is even present on the budget G4 mini :( However interface elements have been upgraded to the new material look. But the interface looks more modern, and the Snapdragon 801 still is very good far more smoother than the G4 mini, and you will feel your phone has got another 1-2 years left if you are the type to hold on to your phones for long. I also have a Redmi Note 3, and in case you are wondering, the Redmi with the OctaCore MediaTek Helio X10 is not as smooth as my LG G3 even though the G3 has a lot more pixels on its display. And the camera is so much better. The G3 can still play with the current flagships for its overall quality. Great work for whoever who posted this, and for LG for releasing a special by giving the Android 6.0 update for the G4 and the G3 D858HK.

  • You cannot use a wireless charging back with the dual sim G3 as there are no pins for the back panel to connect to, only pins for NFC

  • well if you are using D856 you'll get the OTA but i havent saw source code for d856 :3 but for kdz file try LGUP tool its east there is no diff between MAL/HKG HKG version include hong kong language.. MAL version doesnt includes the hong kong language

  • Hi, you will have to purchase wireless charging back panel for ebay/amazon than install the same on your back panel and than do wireless charging. Also if you search on google than you will find video on how to install wireless back panel. also in few market you will find slim hard case with wireless charging chip.

  • its a request to all those beginners who dont know how to root and flash a ROM. please do not flash my ROM if u dont know the basics! Flashing the rom wont disappear the Downloading mode. neither it will stop anything on your phone. Please of u dont want MM then do not use my ROM thank You . :)

  • Method for downgrading from MM to LP

  • The flash tool is fine. To downgrade from MM, you will have to use the LGUP tool. It is actually even easier to use than the LG flash tool. I had tried this rom. It was really nice but the phone and sms apps kept crashing so while trying to revert back to LP, i discovered that the flash tool was repeatedly giving this error. I tried the LGUP tool and voila, its fixed. Its available on xda. You only need to use your stock .kdz file. I'll try to find and post the link here. Best wishes.

  • Tried flashing again after wiping Dalvik cache, system, data, cache. Still same issue. TWRP version is 2.8.1.0

  • hey carlo, I would suggest go for pure flash again! wipe every data!and then install please let me know your twrp version as latest twrp causes trouble. and i am not facing any issues yet unless wifi which shows me the weak connection. let me know with a complete flash!

However, I'm encountering issues regarding sim connectivity, both sim cards keep on disconnecting regularly, every 5 minutes or less I think, it will disconnect and reconnect again. This is with the patch already and I've already configured APN, I can already use mobile data. It also seems text messages are taking too long to send. My phone model is D858HK. Hoping for your help.   • you can format your SD card using FAT32 (with 32KB cluster size) and everything will setup fine when you put your SD card in your G3. Until now, if will setup on the phone, as Portable Storage will format only with 16KB partition size (doesn't matter the size of your card, will format with only 16KB) and as Internal Storage (Android M adoption) you'll be stuck in 20% formatting screen and after that will "corrupt" your SD card, and you'll need use a computer and SD Formatter to "ressurrect" your SD card. ;)

  • I also downloaded the ROM by Abbas in XDA and installed it and I am also unable to mount my MicroSD card. It keeps on constantly saying Card is corrupted whereas the card is fine. I even tried with other cards and same error. Reflashed the ROM and still this issue persists. I did up some digging on a link shared by a guy in his thread that the ROM was already available in some Russian forum. There also it was mentioned that any users had issue mounting their MicroSD cards. I wonder how Abbas could use his MicroSD card as he stated in a comment below. I would like to request him to share a screenshot if the Card was working fine in his mobile. And also mention how he flashed the ROM so that he could get his card working whereas many people are facing the issue.

  • I googled a bit and i found out that in marshmallow, in the storage options while we format any new card there should be two options for formatting: 1. Format as INTERNAL STORAGE 2. Format as PORTABLE STORAGE In my case I am getting only the option of Format as PORTABLE STORAGE only. And hence I think there is a bug in this section. Please look to it.

  • Installed the ROM in my LG G3 D858HK. In the 1st attempt everything installed but the mobile services are not being enabled. Only one sim is being shown and that also searching for network constantly. Model name is being shown LG D855. Now trying for the 2nd time to re install it and see if works. Cause in the screenshot attached in XDA it was showing dua si version. The ROM is very clean and nice. If it works it will be great though. Lets hope it works now.

  • if you're referring to physical damage I'll say it depends on the user. I have a harder silicone case from day one and tempered glass protector, not a scratch or bump on the phone.

  • Got this last oct lollipop out of the box dual sim very handy has toggle sim for sim 1 and 2 at the bottom of the on screen buttons. Has 32gb 3gb ram very responsive I play summoners war and asphalt 8 buttery smooth performance ,Snapdragon 801 is a bit warm but not too hot. Battery consumption is mediocre has good standby time sleep at 12 midnight and wake up round 6am it eats no more than 4% I got an extra battery so it's not much of an issue for me even if it does not have fast quickcharge 2.0 . Luv the form factor thin bezels the g3 looks smaller compared to other 5.5 inch phones bcoz it has 75% screen to body ratio white ver looks better than the black ver my cousin has the black but says that my white g3 looks more premium.

  • It's dual active, however, SIM1 runs on 4G/LTE while SIM2 runs 2G only, so it's only good for messages or calls, data not so much. I'm using 2 sims all along, 2 different countries, and apart from service issues there's no issues whatsoever (I'm referring to my out-of-country SIM connecting to the best provider for roaming). Other than that, zero issues so far, but I keep my phone clean and bloatware free, only download trusted apps and don't mess with settings.

Will that possibly keep me from being able to update OTA once it's available? The only program LG seems to offer for d858hk is what's called LGMobile Support Tool, found on this link (http://www.lg.com/hk_en/support-mobile/lg-D858H­K#software), as LG PC suite doesn't seem to exist for it. When plugging in the phone, it's recognized normally, but says it's up to date. Someone here mentioned they got the 6.0? How - OTA or manual?   • Shame that LG is holding back on the upgrades for the 858HK, since the sister phone the 856 did get the 5.0.1 update (as well as many of the Korea only models such as the F400, etc) in parallel to the LG G3 855 models. The phone rocks when it comes to its spec as does all the other LG G3 phones, and the G3 Dual comes with 3GB RAM making it quite futureproof, bar the OS update. Hope LG rolls out the Android 6.0 update for the 858HK model.

  • Mini-sim is the normal sim card. Micro sim is a medium sized sim. Nano sim is the smallest one and same size as micro sd card. Forget mini-sim, It is old one of 2012 phones. Micro sim is in use till mid 2015 phones. Nano sim is in few phones and will be in all phones in future.

  • 99% phones have the same specs. SIM1 supports 3g and 4g. SIM2 supports 2g only. Only 3-4 phones right now, support 4g on both sim slots.

  • QHD display takes more battery power and gpu power. Full HD 1080 display is enough for mobile phones. But LG keeps launching QHD display phones and that decreases battery life. But now its price is around 999 in saudi and uae so it is OK to buy it. Good buy for this price.

  • You ever heard of HTC Boomsound ? Real stereo speakers. Blows the roof of your head. As loud as 95 decibels yet clear. If you see it videos, then you will not buy LG phones again. I used LG Nexus, Optimus ME, and LG G Flex. So i know how LG speakers sound. They are loud but not clear.

  • Don't laugh at me, cry yourself. Only single sim variant is getting the update. Dual sim variant will never get the update. LG skipped upgrading dual sim variant to lollipop because battery life takes the hit because of QHD display in lollipop, and dual sim drains battery faster than single sim. So keeping this in view, and G3 users are already crying because of less battery life, LG decided to skip the updates for dual sim variant.

  • D856 supports 900/2100 gsm band. It means 3G/4G works in India, pakistan, middle east and some asian countries. D858 is a world phone. D858 supports all 3G/4G bands worldwide. This is the only difference. Both models will not get lollipop or marshmallow update. Only single sim G3 D855 will get the update. Kitkat is a very good and stable OS.

My contacts and messages are open with delay of almost 20 second and battery timing is also not so good. Currently i have just install very basic apps. Now I am planning to switch back to kitkat.   • I emailed LG HK, they replied me that 5.1.1 is on its way soon. no time frame given. most probably we will get this before marshmallow! not just Verizon, In India, D855 got Android 5.1.1 update :) same goes for my country Pakistan.

  • Those who have problem switch data to 3G/4G pls note; in order to make it happen, switch data Off first, than switch network to 3G/4G. If guys didn't switch data Off, you will likely not able to switch network ( stick at current 2G). Good luck

  • I received the phone today (D858HK). I'm a bit disappointed: -LTE not working even the phone supports band 3 1800Mhz, and Vodafone IE as well. -Was very surprised when I saw it has Android 4.4.2. Much more surprising that is has no update yet (checked with LGMobileSupportTool.exe). Is it true?? No Android 5 available? In the other hand, the phone is excellent: fast, light weight, beautiful display, very good camera, etc... everything else are above the expectations.

  • you stuck in factory firmware update there are two options now! 1) if your phone is turned on, go to settings>apps> software update and delete or erase cache same goes for software update! 2) do a manual update!

  • OTA will not come to UAE devices unless you are in East Asian Region (not middle east or in south Asia).. only way to get Android Lollipop is via Firmware flashing with Factory method. @Farhan see the vid and i dont have any issues with any of glitches you've mentioned! i have never faced any issues. Android Lollipop is way better than Laggy Kitkat!

  • Factory reset may resolve some issues, I remember when I was using tge samsung I got an update and it went worse and I did a factory reset ad it got better. I will try this and share the results. It's done from tge bios right? Thank you Abbas

  • Thank you Abbas for the information My review after upgrading from my D858HK from KitKat to 5.0.1 V20e Same little glitches from Kitkat remained. Sliding down top menu is not as smooth as KitKat. The changed in the UI is not significant. Some new little glitches when opening call logs and other apps from circle case You won't feel a big difference from Kitkat. My opinion based on my first day using it is: It has some improvements but it's not worth the upgrade, If you have KitKat installed on your phone just keep it as it is. I will post another review after a couple of days to share my experience. Thanks again to Abbas for spending the time on making tutorials and videos.

  • well as for the battery timing, Lg G2 is not the Quad HD phone even has the slow porcessor and lesser ram thats the main reason battery timing is good in G2. As for G3, G3 is QHD display, Qualcomm 805 processor and 3GB Ram.

  • It is a very weak smartphone.Especially after upgrading to anroid 5 it worsened.most of the time it hangs.when I run an app it hangs.I have the least number of apps on it but its function is very weak.its internal card is very low.just its desgin and appearance is good but totally very weak.

If you didn't watch the video on how to go to download mode on the phone, you might miss you need to connect USB cable in order to get download mode. it took almost 9 minutes to complete mine. at 20% it seemed like stuck but after about 5 minutes, started to progress again.   • No bro there no need to root the phone! its a factory way to upgrade your phone. just put your phone in downloading mode.

  • You need to enter the downloading mode by pressing vol up oe down and then plug your phone into USB. and by doing this, it will erase your data! and remember do CSE flash only :)

How to get Android Lollipop on your Lg G3 D858HK with manual upgrade. step 1) download the correct KDZ file i.e.from Hong Kong Section and number 137 from the link on page 3 step 2) download Runtime C++ and flash tool from the link on page 3, Install Runtime c++ update. step 3) backup all of your data step 4) put the KDZ file into the Flashtool Folder step 5) put your phone into downloading mode (Turn off your phone and press volume down and connect it to USB (in PC)) step 6) Run flashtool and DO CSE flash, do not change anything even leave the language Step 7) you're done with flashing and enjoy Lollipop and remember me in your prayers if any thing goes wrong just search me on FB i.e. chelseafc.jb

  • I have bought this phone from Bangladesh and have been using it for 2 months. Its a good phone without any major problems whatsoever. However I would like to point out that its not exactly buttery smooth compared to other phones in this class. It does heat up if its exposed to intense and prolonged use of apps. The display is good but lacks contrast, but thats understandable since it was the first generation 2K display from LG. The back camera is excellent, but the front camera is just ok. The battery life is quite good and it serves me well. Personally I'm happy with it but I would recommend getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 instead if its price is within your range. Good luck.

  • hk version doesn't have 4g, the specs on the specification are all wrong. I got one and I regret buying them, first sim doesn't even go 4g, then second sim worked for a while then it just didn't work at all. the first sim that syas 4g do not even go for 4g speed. its a waste of money

  • Hi Bryantpark, I'm from the Philippines as well. May i know if the cases intended for LG G3 fit the G3 dual sim version as well? E.g. Spigen slim armor for Lg G3 I would also like to learn about battery life and LTE capability. Is the battery sufficient enough to last a whole day of normal to moderately heavy usage? Is the 4G Internet using G3 dual proven to be fast and reliable? Btw, I'm a Globe subscriber.

  • pls the lg g3 lte phone is the best dual sim phone for now. It has many updated sorftwares and can be used wirelessly with plasma tv bcos it comes with wi.fi direct and DLNA. It has very big internal memory of 32gig and many more. It is the world best phone for now. This phone is not yet available in Nigeria. pls we need it now! When is it coming? Thanks.

  • It's a nice phone, no doubt. But, technology is very much fast! Till today the OS is Kitkat 4.4.2! Please give us the opportunity to upgrade the OS to Lolipop or Kitkat 4.4.4. Otherwise user must not be interested to use any LG mobile devices! Now Samsung a Galaxy S4 is upgraded to Lolipop from Kitkat 4.4.2. So please give the opportunity.

  • I've almost made a decision to buy lg g3 dual- LTE based on opinions and reviews on this website and I want one last Confirmation to make that if 32gb Korean version is actually like the original one? Does it lack in screen quality or any other feature because it's cheaper in my country( around 350 euros)? while It's priced 510 euros on this website. Please help me out.

  • Shabeer is a good seller. I got g pro 2 from him a year ago. Its got 4G enabled. He always hides info about 4G cos its not widely available in India. Some fools live in a region without 4G and demand for 4G. That's the reason he hides info on it.

  • You can just buy Quick Circle case for your G3, it can charge wireless.

  • The replaceable battery on G3 is a big bonus.

  • I received my D858HK from an online shop here in DXB, and there's wasn't an OTA to 5.0.1. So me being itch not to have Lollipop, done some digging, found that the old yah KDZ website still there (www.lg-phone-firmware.com). So i download 20d from HK and LG Flashtool 2014 and manual flash it. Now I got 5.0.1.
