LG G5 SE - User Reviews

  • I have had this phone for just over a month now and can give it nothing but praise. Bought for £130 brand new, unopened, it works like a charm, even though it uses Android 7. Comparing it to a Huawei P20 Lite there is little if no difference in speed, and the camera is far far better. This has the best phone camera of any that I have used to date. The battery easily lasts through a day with general use, plus it has a much larger and brighter RGB LED notification light. I also like the fact that the screen aspect ratio is wider rather than the modern fashion of being tall and narrow. Considering it has "only" 3GB RAM the machine as a whole has been built and refined to work very very well. It does feel a bit fragile by itself, but I have it placed in a Spigen Case and now it feels solid and secure. If you can still find one brand new then buy it with confidence, yes, even in 2019. Highly recommended. Well done LG.

  • Shame on you LG, I will not trust them anymore after owning this phone. I experienced the camera issues (no focus), terrible terrible battery and annoying burned in pixels. JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. If you haven't yet - well then, enjoy while it lasts.

  • My Phone Is Still fine, Phone screen still OK, but, battery lite is bad.

  • Eric, funnily, I have the very same problems after 2 years - screen burn, headphone works only on one side (not both ears), battery drains very fast, fingerprint doesn't work, main camera died (autofocusing motor), volume button down doesn't work. Was it a good phone - yes, but it's crazy how it basically failed in almost all fronts. Warning to all - DON'T BUY A USED LG G5! The specs may look good, but even a careful usage, it will fail on you miserably.

  • got it already, LG G5 H830

  • I've had my G5 SE for about 2 years now, was pretty good until the problems started. There's screen burn, power button doesn't work (FP works funny enough) and the headphone jack died

  • Love the LG G5 SE .... the software updates regularly .....

  • Shame on LG within 2 year from release update and still no oreo on this device. Never again LG...

  • maybe next month due to sd 652 im waiting oreo on mine a usa variant using sd820 but nothing yet .. lets wait soon it will arrive and it is worthy looks nice and it gets better with oreo

  • Anyone with oreo? the phone released in 2 year window LG updates but no oreo yet...

  • This phone is great. After owning a couple of really bad LG's phones, I was reluctant on getting this one. But it was really cheap given the specs. After a year of use, this phone has turned out to be great. One of the best phones I owned, actually.

  • Thanks for your tip, mate.

  • Use gsm network only if possible you would realise you will go home with 50% or more battery

  • Battery is a really big problem from this phone.

  • having issues with G5 whereby the left part of my screen lags badly when am navigating on youtube or even on camera mode. tried to reset my phone but in vain. e.g, when i scroll on any video which is playing and check the comments, only the right part of my screen scroll but the left part get stuck. can anyone know what needs to be done?

  • This is just my opinion using this phone for about a year. So far problems that I faced are screen burning and dropped battery performance. The screen burning is very disturbing, it isn't really that bad, but it's noticeable. How to fix it? Simplest thing just install screen filter app such as Twilight, and set intensity to 5% and screen dim to 40% (Twilight settings not display phone settings). Of course this setting depends on how bad screen burning happening on you. More intensity takes your screen more red-ish, so just keep it under 15%. Just wait couple of minute, and then voila it solved the problem 99% seriously, screen burning will almost not noticeable. Another solution of course change the LCD screen but it's not worthed try the apps first. And about the battery it seems common problem in G5 series, below 15% the battery drop significantly until it dies, just replace the battery it cheap though, and thanks to LG modular design. Besides that everything run smoothly, LG home is laggy switch to Nova.

  • Buying this phone was the worst phone decision i did i my life... I was so happy with my last LG phone and after4 years it was time for a new one, I chose this one and everything seemed great until the problems started. Now its getting close to a year and I will now go and get another phone. This phone is triggering me to the limit and I actually can't wait to leave this out of my life forever. Apps are crashing alot, especially snapchat is a big problem and crashing at least two times every time om trying to send a picture. Battery is also horrible and goes down real fast, but then charge fast, so must be something wrong...? The camera sucks big-time and are also really slow.. Tried an full factory reset and still same problem. A really bad phone experience honestly.

  • Even i had the same problem, i got the camera changed by LG... now it performes well..

  • Even i had the same problem, i got the camera changed by LG... now it performes well..

  • I have the same problem. Back camera useless. no focus

  • Reset cache generally Or go to apps, contact, reset cache, do not reset data. SE run 32bit to cover 3gb RAM, enginner try to make same experience as G5

  • Hi Guys. My contacts is very slow coming up. Takes about 20 seconds. Any help i can get will be appreciated. Thank you

  • Yes i get barely 3 hours of sot wigh moderate use

  • battey is disaster

  • I owned LG G5SE (H845) and after multiple times failed attempt to install Google camera I just found out that LG put this phone in 32-bit mode instead its full capability 64-bit, shame on you LG...

  • I had G5 SE. Its great phone until it was stolen. Loved the camera

  • 2 people using G5 SE version and none of them with the screen problem. That issue seems more common in the normal G5 with SD820. If any tell recover screen

  • I using G5 SE version and none of them with the screen problem. That issue seems more common in the normal G5 with SD820.any one tell recover

  • And The gps signal on nougat get lost easily It's very suck when u travel a lot like me.

  • Good: good camera Good speaker Great performance, not lag etc. bad: Weak battery Screen easily get burn in Cheap looks and cheap material case which easily get scratched even using case, mine got so many scratch easily and the backcase paint washed away

  • Both phones share the same camera module, there like 2 little differences: The lack of RAW format on the stock camera app on the SE, and the stock camera app launch tiny faster on the regular G5, but probably most people wouldn't notice that.

  • So far so good with my LG G5 se

  • Hello everyone is there any difference between the both rear and selfie camera G5 and G5se in specs 820 and 652 & 3gb but is G5se really use the same G5 camera sensors?? in htc m8 and htc m8s the selfie camera were less field in few and worse and they wrote same specs in both. so only who tested G5 and G5se to answer me and thank you.

  • Well I've had my Lg g5 Se for 6 months now and i just handed it in for service cause of screen ghosting and battery life draining 50 % in 10 min with 4g. If you dont use 4g it's fine and the ghosting isn't that bad. Although as a gamer the constant ghosting of the chat is annoying. But if u dont play games it's good. But I would recommend the mi a1 or an honor phone.

  • Factory reset?

  • Don't ever try to exchange or replace with that lg it scuks

  • Don't ever try to exchange or replace with that lg it scuks

  • Has anyone experienced the main camera focus problem? It hit me about three days ago and is terrible. Main back 16mp camera is unusable. Nothing I do seems to fix it.

  • Well i still use my g5 se for around 1 year, no serious screen burn issues here

  • I know 2 people using G5 SE version and none of them with the screen problem. That issue seems more common in the normal G5 with SD820.

  • Anyone got burn-in screen ?

  • Hello guys. I got Honor 8 and i was thinking to change it for LG G5 SE. What you think?

  • I have been using the phone for a month and it runs well. I have never met any problem with it so far. I think it is user friendly. Not complicated in running it

  • I took (this) model again a week ago, it does not give me to upgrade it to 7.0, nor update the software either via lg bridge, nor through the support tool ... it says that I'm using the latest version of the software, and that's it Does anyone have any experience? If the signs seem to be a model for Latin America.Sorry for my bad english

  • G5SE equal galaxy A9 in spec, but g5se better value. Try compare moto X4, will get Oreo and P, longer battery life, faster lte, cooler since built on 14,nm compare SD652 on old 28nm

  • I hv two LG cellphone. And both of them is bad after a year usage. The charger does'nt completely fill the battery. So I try with other charger and it works. So the problem is the charger.

  • LG didn't need to release this phone. So why did they?

  • I definitely recommend it, its one of the best mobile phones I had ever ,I had it from beginning of 2017 and until now its awesome and beyond, silver looks beautiful as well as the pink one , What i recommend you : 1.Buy the LG G5, not the G5SE, not that SE is bad [mine is SE] but G5 standard is better from my perspective at least, although SE is good too . 2.Take the double SIM model, %You are welcome %

  • G5 is very good no problems but gps is weak thats right if you rate it from 1-10 i will give gps 4 however if i rate g5 allover i rate it 8 it has an amazing battery and you will be staisfied by its performance and smooth touch you will like it

  • hello i currently thinking to buy this phone, when i look around the web, for G5 it have problem with GPS and many more. Do G5 SE have the same problem with the normal G5? may be i will just ask here, if you think it's no good to get G5 SE now, what your suggestion, i'm only looking for phone with NFC and fingerprint also mid performance like this G5SE with adreno 510 and SD652 or around this...oh and something with less problem (may be?) i will just tell it here, i use BB since 2007 and i never change phone, after 10 years i finally have money to buy android, that's why if possible i want android with less problem so i can live happily for another 10 years. thanks, see you.

  • In hardware specs, the G5 SE wins by quite margin. Probably in software too.

  • galaxy a3 2017 or lg g5 se?

  • Actually G5 SE is even better than G4 in terms of performance and everything else and G6 price is twice of this G5 SE current range and Moto G5s Plus can't beat the performance, camera performance, and many else of G5 SE and G5 SE is cheaper.

  • I bought this model today. I'm impatient to find how to set my dial apperance. I have some Hebrew letters beside numbers and eng alphabet? Is there any possibility to change that?

  • g5se not as good as G2. I suggest you buy motorola g5s for that price, if you can add extra LG G6

  • LG G5 se or Huawei p10 Lite ? I can't decide . The price in my country (Serbia) is about 260 euros for both models.

  • LG G5 se or Huawei p10 Lite ? I can't decide . The price in my country (Serbia) is about 260 euros for both models.

  • What? We care oreo nit security patch, dont visit in harmful web, this no pc so you have to update antivirus everyday. LG v10 late updated, just like g pro2. Only standard Gseries update well, go buy xperia when you need update wider range

  • Very same to me. My old phone is LG G2 then upgraded to LG G5 SE (I buy second hand though; I don't have much money) 2 months ago. And also my old LG G2 become a backup phone too.

  • Hey all, any clues about future security patches on g5 se?? I still run it on april 1 security patch.

  • I bought it for 270 € in Latvia

  • I know the LG G5 with Snapdragon 820 will get android 8.0, but about SE Snapdragon 652 I don't know. Maybe it will get Oreo.

  • Will LG G5 get Android O update?

  • when is it going to upgrade to 7.0 in Peru?

  • Good gsm my bro...is the best...LG forever...

  • Bought this phone in Germany 6 months ago for 290€, it works like a charm. My old phone is LG G2 which I'm keeping as a backup. However LG G5 SE is a great phone, can't imagine device without dual camera now- totally worth of money.

  • FYI the Google Pixel series suffers some serious problems like a faulty mic and black screen.

  • This is the worst piece of anything I've ever had the misfortune of owning. The glass over the camera cracked for no reason so I got a replacement, and then the glass over the camera cracked and they wouldn't replace it again. The lock button stopped working, the "modular" bit at the bottom that actually doesn't have any modules yet doesn't fit right. The battery is awful. Unless you route it you're stuck with the LG/network tossy OS, it reboots randomly, the same apps I had on my Nexus freeze and lock the phone and cause the lock button is broken you can't reboot it. The fingerprint scanner doesn't work very well, and didn't on the first one I had replaced either. It's shit. Save up another week or two, or if you're upgrading ring your provider and beg and plead for a Pixel, because the G5 is the most horrendous toss I've ever come into contact with.

  • After you update the device to Android 7.0 Nougat, it has 1080p60 video option. 1080p30 is still available as well. Initially, you only have 1080p30.

  • They obviously don't cover drops from a roof, it's like buying an egg to use as a chair, it's going to break

  • No complaints about the display, battery, and performance. But currently having camera autofocus issue, difficulties on bluetooth connection and GPS accuracy.

  • So far, great. The battery may be vary from 3hrs to 5hr sorry, quick charge in 1h20. But then I found out it doesn't matter anymore when you can change the battery. Buy 1 or 2 battery more and the dock or case to charge them, so in 3 minutes you have 100% again. The battery is more compact than battery pack and you don't have to worry about when going far away or stick to the wall waiting the battery to be charged. Fixit rates it 8/10. I bought it's for 3 weeks, let it drop from the rooftop. Display is completely broken, which isn't covered by guarantee. Buy a display for 60€ and change it yourself: for the complete disassemble just open 8 screws, no heating gun no parts sticked by glue together. That makes me also then not worry about the burn in even if it happens. Zack Zack! Change new display in less than 30m. And I think maybe due to changing the battery everyday so I keep restarting, it really helps with the smoothness. Much better than my Nexus 6, which was a pain. That means from little to none lag. With Nexus 6 I can hardly use outdoor when it's really bright even though it was the max brightness. Not a problem for g5 se. G5 se seems to use the same components of g5, so it's not hard to find replacement I think. Important features why I chose it: radio/FM, led notification, almost last Android (7.0), quick charge, (small form 5.2 in), fingerprint scan (on rear which I also like). I get more: changeable battery, infra red light, dual camera (with wide camera which I found using a lot, because I takes photos mostly indoor or landscape, it's that the best though but for the purpose is great), module type so components can be changed easily, I mean extremely easy; really bright screen

  • Yeah, I can't even go without recharge till late evening. My sot is very low 3hours is what I get

  • Battery make me sad

  • It works great and no lag at all. The Snapdragon 652 sure is weaker than the SD 820 but it's more than enough for normal use.

  • Not so powerful chipset yet using 2k display? Quite a bad move I think.

  • Thanks gan infonya, I'm considering to buy a G5 SE for myself, also in Indonesia. Can I ask you about the thermal issues and the notorious bootloop that spread across the LG G4? Does it also happen in your G5? Also, how is the performance so far of your G5? Since I realise that the G5 SE got the weaker Snapdragon 652 instead of the 820, which the normal G5 had. I am expecting a long usage time with this handset, by not replacing it any sooner than 2 years, while the phone not being obsolete for until at least 2018. Do you think that it's possible? So, what do you think? should I buy this phone, since I also live in Indonesia? Bogor to be precise hehe... Thanks so much for your reply!

  • It can't be celcius! 76°F may be. Afterwards, sweating like crazy depends :) Swedish feel hot at 20 and North Africans at 40°C :)

  • It can't be around 76 celcius. Because if it is that hot idle you wouldn't be able to touch it. If you're taking a shower you burn your skin at 50 celcius . That means it isn't celcius. I live in Sweden so I know about celcius as we use it and if you go out in 20-30 celcius you will sweat like crazy.

  • I will answer your question 3-4 years later.

  • Appreciate your confirmation bro!

  • I have the same high temperature readings in my G5 SE in the pa_therm0... but the back is actually cold and the screen as well, the rest of the sensors shows no more than 33 celcius, the phone is working great and no problem at all. Probably it's some kind of wrong reading from the GPU-Z app or else.

  • does it have 1080p 60fps

  • I've just got my screen replaced due to burn-in which I think was caused by overheating. Could you please use cpu-z app and go to to the thermal tab then scroll all the way down until you find pa _therm0, read the number and get back here to tell me the number? Mine is like 76* celcius idle and it got even hotter during normal use. Thanks

  • I'm using this phone for 10 month since august 2016, this is my opinion : - Battery not gotten worst, i still have 3 to 4 hrs SoT and have 2 battery kits, but i can say the battery not as good as samsung device - Display still good till today and i'm not planing changing my device since 2k resolution still limited to flagship device (i have no problem, no ghosting, no burn, etc and i already tested it with LCD Tester) - Great Speaker And the cons i met : - My Battery Cover (the place u put the battery) starting to have a gap with the device (but who cares because my phone still working properly) - Keyboard have a little lag after i updated to nougat - Fast charging made my device hot - Hard to get LG accessories in my country (Indonesia) But overall its a great device and at the daylight, my photos still greater than S7 edge (when u zooming in).

  • I like the fast charge feature battery full in 30min

  • This is an excellent phone. It looks nice and the fingerprint entry is brilliant. I have always had Samsung, but this model seems better. The camera is awesome, and the speed of processor is very fast. Plenty of memory. Audio great. It even has fitbit! Best of all, you can replace the battery. I can also connect to my PC easily through wifi, and the phone doesn't need to be rooted. 10 out of 10.

  • Great phone, everything runs fast and no lag at all, the camera and the manual mode are just amazing, the display very vivid and clear... only downside is the battery life, kind of short.

  • Go for LG G5se. Excellent camera, photos and videos. Great android 7 OS. excellent phone for everyday use. I would not change it for anything.

  • Hey, It all comes down to what you want from a smartphone. If you want a decent camera, go for the lg. If you want to be able to customise the o's go LG. If you want an amazing phone experience go for the lg. If I were you I would choose the lg over an iphone any day. The lg has a stunning 2k screen whereas the standard iPhone 6 has a 720p screen which is nowhere near as sharp as the lg.

  • Hi, i need help choosing the right phone between G5 SE and iphone 6, which one more smoother and no laggy operation? I dont play games, only for browsing, soc media and whatsapp. For long time use, lets say 3-4 years, does g5 se will become laggy ? Thanks

  • Hi guys I having trouble deciding which phone i should choose between a lg g5 se and a huawei p10 lite Can you five me a few pros and cons and help me decide please. Your help will be much appreciated Thanks

  • G5se has the same camera as G5 so camera is in fact better than in Galaxy S7.

  • The camera module is exactly the same as lg G5 4 GB so the best camera in 2016...

  • and what about the camera module? it is worth to buy?

  • has anyone tried the B&O DAC? does it really bring something to the phones sound?? or you must be a real audiophile to hear the difference?

  • I had the same problem - it's the charger!

  • I have this phone about a week ... I think sd652 do nice work.. If you take the small 2800mah battery and the qhd screen do great job. I play about 30 min Pokemon all the time 4g open and Wi-Fi. Fb-chat Viber msg etc and I take from 3.30 -4 hours SOT so you don't say it bad at all for this small battery and QHD SCREEN

  • Guys, how is the battery life and screen on time with this device. I see some complaints about the G5 but as this device has a lower-end processor and less RAM I thought that it could better on the SE?

  • European versions do exist. Mine is EUR and I got it for free for contract renewal in Austria. It's branding free and came with 6.0.1. About a week ago, I got the Nougat update for it OTA. The Euro versions have different OS and baseband software. Software versions are like v10a-EUR-xx (Marshmallow) or v20a-EUR-XX (Nougat).

  • Can confirm Nougat update for European version of the G5 SE. It's v20a-mar-10-2017, Android security patch level from early March. The device is a branding-free G5 SE which I got for free for contract renewal a couple months ago. Updated fine OTA and haven't run into problems so far, except an issue with widgets not updating using my Action 3 launcher. That problem was solved with the next launcher update (probably was a known issue already). Battery life is hard to tell. It's not worse, but if it's better then only marginally so. The Nougat features are all there and the dark theme(s) for the System UI are a nice touch.

  • Is it because of ultra slim design or it thin like on older g5?i guess ultra slim 7.3mm thickness make it worse

  • Try using an different charger and if that doesnt work try buying a new battery

  • I have a serious problem with my Phone !! It's about a month old.. This morning the battery was as low as 2% and then the mobile powered off due to the battery... I connected it to the charger and it doesn't respond to charging !! I thought the battery is too low and i left it for half an hour and nothing .. I tried troubleshooting by removing the battery and putting it again it worked but the time of the mobile was wrong ,though the date was right.. Since then whenever the mobile turns off it never turns on again unless i remove the battery and put it again !! Another problem happened now .. The mobile is connected to the charger for like half an hour and the battery level never changes .. Thought the sign of charging is normally displayed !! I am very disappointed from the battery life too, it lasts around 5 hrs only if data network is on .. Is this common !!

  • It is gorrila glass buy its a Thin later of glass

  • What do mean by soft glass? Aint it regular gorilla glass??

  • Thanks man! I think about spending some more money and going for the s6... I believe it's worth the extra money (about 60$ more).

  • Well the lg g5 SE has an plastic like primer on the back wich cover the metal and the lg g5 SE is really easy to break because of the soft glass. I think you should get the lg g5 SE because of the 2 camera's on the back and because of the modular design. The lg g5 SE is also really easy to repair and has USB-type C and quickcharge 3.0 so i think you should get the Lg g5 SE

  • The same day i got the update, the guy at LG is a chump and needs sacking

  • I have nouget 7.0 on my g5 se

  • Hi guys, i'm looking for a new phone and i am between Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and LG G5 SE and i would like your opinion. Also, do you know about any problems that may appear in these 2 devices. If you have any other suggestions for smartphones about 300-350 euros (or dollars, it's pretty much the same) i am glad to hear them. Thanks!

  • Got the update today

  • just had an email from LG stating the LG G5 SE (H840) is not getting the nougat update due to it not having enough memory to run it

  • The B&O audio module, how is the speaker quality and level? what is the number of watt??

  • just updated to nougat in Romania. H840, bought sim free from italy

  • Nougat update available in Pakistan today for lg g5 SE H845.

  • Yeah, also consider you will be downgrading a lot in terms of chipset. The SD 652 is far superior than the Exynos 7880 since it has A72 cores inside. And for gaming as well.Plus the G5 Se has 4k recording.

  • My LG G5 SE just got Nougat update last midnight with software version number V20c-IDN-XX. And yeah, it's Indonesian.

  • LG G5 Se(H840) Today got Android Nougat update. Macedonia. Thanks LG!

  • After little research i made ..Guys, i guess no european h840 lg5se models exist yet.. they are all for latino american market?? So we can flash any stock rom on our devices released in South America ?? Im not sure just my thoughts

  • G5 se is a lot better in camera. It's almost on par with last year galaxy s7 Not to say that a5 2017 is bad in term of camera, in low light it's just terrible without Ois. I'd definitely considering myself changing to a5, bcoz it has nice amoled, water proofing, much better battery life.. But still I can't decide whether I'm willing to go with a mid range Samsung camera

  • How to find first stock rom v10a-222-10? I got update 425mb when I turn on phone after unpacking first time. Camera update... My phone on vodafone network and free sim. Im from Serbia. Now version of rom v10b-222-10.

  • What software version did you get?? What's your experience after update to 7.0??

  • My G5 SE H840 on UK Vodafone updated to Nougat OTA today.

  • I have the same question , except with Samsung A5 , A7s screen is too big for my hands

  • Wich is better 2017 samsung a7 or lg g5 ?

  • I guesss its not coming at all...

  • Can anyone tell me whether G5 SE will get Nougat update or not? Thanks

  • Lg g5 is definitely better in Photo

  • Hello... I need a new phone and was wondering which is better: Samsung A5(2017) or LG G5 SE? I'd especially like input on graphics&photo quality and whether or not it heats fast. Thank you!

  • Whene did you get nougat update!?

  • Yes it does last a full day. Features are nice as well but in terms of looks its not the best.

  • I have an g5se running nougat. Battery isnt impressive, it can hardly reach a day without recharge. Bottom module is crappy made. I would go for samsung.

  • Guys whats your opinion lg g5 se or galaxy a5 2017? The battery of lg g5 se last a day at least?

  • Yes

  • I reckon that 200 - at the most - would be a good price l

  • Is the camera in G5 and G5se the same?

  • is there any issue at the battery?

  • LG G5 SE is LG G4 in a LG G5 body - roughly said

  • Can someone tell me if the G5 SE is fragile? I drop my phone a lot, it'd be a shame if I break it within a week or so...

  • The display on the G5 has a greenish tint and the reds are muted compared to the bright colors on my old G3. The battery must be constantly charged although I keep the display at 70%. Names off who is calling always appeared on my old G3 but only names I have stored are displayed here. Spam warnings were displayed on my old G3 but not on my G5. Easier to change battery & memory card on old G3 as well. G5 is inferior to older G3 in my opinion.

  • Chipset & Ram

  • Whats the difference between lg g5 and lg g5se

  • Guys, anyone like me have the same split between screen and battery slot in bottom? I mean the right side of bottom has too much free space in my g5 im scared it going to broke soon

  • Hell yea i guess g5se will never receve it

  • Still waiting for android 7 update! LG doesn't said a word about updating G5se to nought! Heyyyyy LG thats how you treat your customers!?

  • Processor in SE is much slower than lg g5

  • SOT is about 3,5 -4,3 h. On daily basis i cant pass 4 hours.

  • please anyone tell me about " screen on time " on lg g5 SE ....?

  • LG G5 SE all the way.

  • G5 se major advantage over a7 is wide angle camera. Its pretty useful like real camera. Also g5 se has gorilla glass 4, 3.0 fast charging and crisper dislpay.

  • Considering getting this phone but I can't find out whether it upgrades to android nougat, anyone know??

  • My friends, please share your opinions, Lg g5 se or samsung galaxy a5 2017? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

  • Are there any Bootloop issues with this phone?

  • Pretty good sound quality. Even the included earbuds are not that bad. The chip also supports various high quality audio output modes up to 24bit / 192kHz. Players like Poweramp or Neutron can make use of it to improve quality, particularly for music in lossless format. The built-in speaker is surprisingly good and probably not different from the full G5.

  • Thank you!

  • The sound through earbuds is pretty good, it sounds much better then any budget phone i guess. Even stock earbuds are loud with tight bass and mic.

  • Could anyone tell me if this phone has a good audio chip? I ordered it and I'd like to know if the sound with headphones is good or not, thanks.

  • I didnt get any updates recently. the lastt one is security patch which was released in september. Is your phone unbranded? Hope android nougat is coming soon

  • Dear All, I am using Lg G5 SE for few days now and i am loving it. it gives me a day of battery with heavy usage of wifi and 4g. I havent played an games yet so cant tell you about it. I have got an update which is not nougat but had to do with other features. can any body know about that update and updated their phone please reply. Thanks in advance.

  • Lg g5 se has 3gb of ram and it works perfectly fine.

  • The LG G5 SE is 3gb ram while the LG G5 is 4gb ram. I think that is where the confusion is coming from.

  • well, my h840 show 2,8 gb of ram is available for user. I gues its the same amount of ram on all g5 se phones.

  • anyone knows will lg drop out android n for se? doesnt matter when

  • Im trying to find out if the lg G5 se has 4gb or 3 go of ram on review videos it says 4 but on here says 3 any help please

  • The phone itself is very nice. Design is not top notch but overall its pretty good. Its ultra slim, fit hand easily. I'm 5.7 and can use it one handed in most times. Lg g5se is forgotten over the net. Its ridiculous, specs are great for average user, both cameras are pretty decent. Battery maybe is not the hottest spot, but we have fast charging charger and cable in the box to charge it in1hour. the ui is smooth, apps open super fast, no delay or lag at all. Get it. Its worth your money.

  • This phone is pretty good showing a worthy for flagship just don't expect to really compare it's performance against top notch like the V20 or even iPhone 7 however the price it's offer is pretty high despite the chipset and the amount of RAM it's offered not to mention it's only 32GB. If LG could give away some of the accessories like the Hi-Fi as bonus it would likely sells out faster.

  • I don't have Myanmar Font in LG G5 SE.

  • Is there any announcement available for LG G5 SE upgrade capability to Nougat? The future availability is claimed by a below post, however I searched the web and I haven't found any other source. In fact I found a page saying that it's not expected to receive Nougat update. Any suggestions?

  • Yes, you can use all of G5 accessory to G5 SE

  • All G5 Modular Accessories(Battery.. ) Suits with G5 SE ?

  • It means, it's slower than the full G5 and lacks a bit RAM. I got a G5 SE for free (for extending my contract) and it's likable. My main phone is still a Z5 Compact which I prefer for its tiny size and fairly powerful hardware. Hardware-wise, the G5 SE is comparable - certainly fast enough for normal usage, no lags, apps open fast, Maps or Earth are smooth, 1080p Videos on youtube play fine. 3GB of RAM is still quite comfortable for Android unless you constantly run fat apps. The display is excellent - they didn't downgrade it, the camera is also quite powerful with lots of options and excellent image quality. It has the same battery, same camera, NFC, fast charge, fingerprint sensor, LTE, modular design (replaceable battery) - everything the full G5 has minus the high-end 820 snapdragon SoC. The SE has the slower 652 and 1 GB less RAM (3 instead of 4). It also comes with Marshmallow 6.0.1 and will receive Nougat according to LG. It's a good device, just do not expect high-end performance, but unless you are into smartphone gaming a lot, you probably won't notice it. Pay attention to the price when you purchase one. The SE should be noticeable cheaper than a full G5, but some dishonest dealers are selling it for almost the same price, because from the look of it, you can hardly tell the difference between the SE and the full. They look identical as far as I know. To put it short: It's a fine device, not high-end but better than most downgraded "consumer" versions.

  • So what does this mean? Cause I don't get what the fuss is about if the only visible difference between the two (G5 and G5SE) is when you play High Resolution Games. Some of us, well me, have PS4s for high res gaming. I'm only gonna be using the phone to browse the net and download music.

  • Snapdragon 652 is good, but still on 32-bit operation system in G5 SE, G5 SE not support TV Out even you have slimport adapter, slimport chip is not exist in G5 SE, USB still 2.0. Audio output is excellent, support by Qualcomm WCD9335 as DAC and Qualcomm WSA8815 as amplifier.

  • Warning: I'm a consumer rights activist, and this phone has been slipped into the stores here in the UK with very little if any publicity. (I'm in the biz, so know.) My carrier (EE) and Carphone Warehouse try to sell you the G5 SE when you ask for a pure G5, yet the cash price in store is only £20 less and the contracts similar. The lower power processor is a MAJOR issue. We all know that for smooth operation, gaming and decent smooth video, a good CPU is paramount. When I give advice to friend and family, I say, you want a phone that is: Fast, has a daylight readable display and all day battery. I cannot speak for the 2nd two items, but the SE will not be as fast as the 5G. A compromise has been made to help LG move stock of the original G5, but save them money, so they have switched CPUs. There is a difference between a genuine budget model of a phone and one that is only slightly tweaked so consumers don't realise. The SE lettering on the box is very small. I think this very dishonest of LG and the carriers and today, I told EE and Carphone Warehouse to their faces and via their call centres that they need to stop doing this. I'm going to order a pure G5 now as it's a great phone (had one before), the only downside being battery life and in my case before, screen was dull outside, but I think it was a one off. Hope this advice is helpful! I will post this on the G5 page too.

  • Without the slightest difference with the original model with exactly the same features, really good phone ! 91 of 100

  • The difference is in the chipset generation and this means that the G5se has less tranzistors in the CPU than the G5. In reallife you won't see much difference, only in gaming => with the G5se you will get lag when you play with high graphics! This is the only visible difference betwen them.

  • The g5 is a fine ass and the g5 se is, well.. is just at 89 percent out of 100

  • Snapdragon 820 on G5 vs 652 on G5SE

  • Whats the difference btw g5 and g5se???

  • Hi.LG g5 se is very good & nice Camera very good Battery is for long time Fast charge is very great Finger touch fantastic Style is nice This phone is my love Tanks LG. Just, have not tow speakers .(stereo sound)

  • Does anyone know whether the LG G5 SE will receive the Nougat update along with the LG G5?

  • hi, for your work, S7 edge > G5 se. I have G5 se.

  • battery is great its much better than galaxy phones and LG V10

  • yes...support fast charging

  • this is the best device i choose battery life is great screen is good buy this phone i advice all

  • Does G5 SE Support fast charging? How's the battery life guys?

  • everything fine! except !!! handsfree !!! looks like a joke!

  • where do i get this phone? good reputable online shopping etc. since its not available in my country thanks from malaysia

  • Very bad video recording. Bad fps. Jumping frame while you moved the phone.I dont like camera performance

  • Maybe its not a standard USB right now, but I'm pretty sure it will be. And you can buy a MicroUSB->USB-C adapter which can solve your connection broblem easily. (I'm using a G5SE too, and faced with same problems ;) )

  • Love everything about the phone except the charging port. It is now not the standard one anymore. This means I am now travelling with my charger everyday until I can purchase extras. This also means the dual USB I bought for my previous LG does not work anymore on this phone.

  • must go for g5 se

  • To all who own it, how is the battery? How many hours with screen on you reach?

  • Gs7 edge any day

  • I prefer a cheaper one like xiaomi redmi note 3 pro because i change phone every 2 years anyway.

  • Very bad battery endurance compared to Samsung S7 edge. Great camera though.

  • Hi All, I am Indonesia user. I love photography and need better camera quality for taking pictures. Please advise which one better : S7 or LG G5 SE? Thanks

  • I think this phone is very good than the other like samsung galaxy s7 if you dont want spent more money.... This phone hav unic feture than another phone.. Overall LG G5 Se is more better than G3 but out look i like G3.. G5 SE isnt not get trouble overheating like G3 again is good for me.. And G5 have wideanggel camera is good coz the other handphone dont have.. Overall i like G5 SE

  • Samsung ATIV SE released in 2014 before iPhone SE. So Apple is the one that don't have originality.

  • Do you know if it has the same camera (the primary one) of the classic G5?

  • Samsung s7 in indonesia use exynos 8890, not snapdragon 820. Exynos support most asian band, so s7 will be fine in indonesia. I'm indonesian and I own s7. I used to LG fans but because indonesia only get g5 se so I forced to change to samsung from my g3. I still love my g3 better by the way, but I need higher spec now so no choice.

  • lol LG se ??? sounds apple iphone lol xD no originality

  • SE stands for Smaller Edition. G5se is a smaller version of G5 in terms of Ram and memory

  • Today i connected LG G5se (H845) with my computer via LG Bridge, it show update notification. And now I already updated my phone.

  • Is lg g5 SE gets any updates regarding security updates or any bug fixes or any performance enhancements till its come in market?? Or lg just made it nd ignore this mobile??

  • love lg g5 se has too much space camera its clear the battery stays longer... love this phone

  • apologies , i thought i had loaded the LG G5 variant , disregard this post .

  • I bought one of these because it was just too cheap to pass up , the screen in outdoors seems passable , however the always on display is an absolute joke , in anything but a very very dim light, it is near enough to invisible, it is excellent sitting in the phone holder if your driving at night though :) , it is just bright enough . It does have some nice little features , and it seems to perform well , if the swap out battery is important to you then its a win , on the down side , the small size of the battery and powerful processor, your going to need that second battery if you use your phone a lot . In hindsight , i think i should have spent the extra and bought the Galaxy .

  • Yeah...

  • What is the score of this thing on latest Antutu? Also, I'm wondering if this processor could be worse than the S801 on the G3, considering the screen resolution. Is the S801 better or higher end than the one on the G5 SE? I just don't feel like getting a "Lite" version of a flagship. Silly LG. For once in all my years into smartphones I'm really considering getting a Samsung one, just deciding between the S6 or S6 Edge or S6 Edge Plus... Dang. Or should I stay with my G4 and my Xperia ZL...? My ZL is the one I use the most. I wonder if apart from the camera the G5 SE would be any better that my Xperia ZL on multitasking and speed... Any comments? - Eisley

  • But the Samsung galaxy S7 that are already in Indonesian market have the snapdragon 820 in them so do they overheat as well?

  • Hello, LG G4 user here. Here's my quick suggestion for you (if your budget capable): pick either an Apple iPhone 6s / 6s plus or a Samsung Galaxy S7 (or Note5 if you like) or even OnePlus 3 instead. Both LG G5 SE and G4 have the common issue of bad battery endurance. Also, you said you're into gaming and fast performance then please look at my suggestions above; at least try to experience the display units. Believe me, you wouldn't want to have a terrible experience of having your phone charged so soon while playing your games or even browsing for a short time. Ps. I think I need another new battery for my G4 though. Sorry for my bad English.

  • Anyone who owns this phone, how is the brightness outdoors?

  • because the signal frequency in indonesia is different from korea in indonesia the signal only dual band but in korea di signal is triband-quadband so if you use lg g5 in indonesia instead the se one the lg g5 will overheat because of the different frequency the phone support lg g5 only support triband-quadband but in indonesia its still dual band frequency

  • ~_~ lg 5 se is can't use lte ~~ in indonesia ?

  • in lg G5 and G5 se the main diffrence is only the processor type.in G5 its quad core while in se irs octa core and the ram in g5 its 4 gb and se its 3 gb thats it

  • on Indonesia, this phone already release and on it's pre-order status before this article officialy written. and i dunno why LG G5 don't come to Indonesia. instead the SE one.. i prefer G5 it have a lot of ram.. then SE. well this is a suck news for all indonesian people.

  • get the G5 SE.

  • what difference between G5 and G5 SE? iPhone also now have SE

  • I'm in Indonesia too and my G3 had the flick and fade to black issue like many others have

  • LG G5 SE and LG G4 which one should i buy? I'm into gaming and need a fast phone, not really need the camera. And i need fast internet connection

  • You made a good choice. V11 will be great if the same G5 hardware without secondary display and a bigger battery...

  • Thx bro..now I use your nickname phone and happy.. Wonder if G6 or V10 descendent can make up for it...

  • My first android LG is LG G3, I have almost no problem with this phone. ALMOST, But damn it LG, you sell the 2 GB RAM version in Indonesia, only to sell 3GB RAM a few month after that? Now, you use the same damned trick again? I Love your phone hardware, but your software and your marketing strategy is bad, very bad

  • stop copying iphone for name such as crap “se “c” s“ what so ever Lg be yourself for name For g6 please stop using these se c s really annoying Mini or plus please!

  • Considering this a flagship from lg, its the worst design for a flagship, unlucky LG

  • Get lg g5, I have it and is perfect, never a lag, fast and customizable with many tip and tricks....light sensor is a bit slow, design is also fine to me, camera is one of the best, wide angle awesome and real 16/9 at 16mpx pictures,...!

  • G5 get blamed by G5 SE.

  • Its kinda hard purchasing a phone today with a battery that's less than 3000mAh. Come on LG, you can do better.

  • trolling about lg? no brother.never say again.... look at htc 10 lifestyle and compare the specs, then compare the price..... and compare the body quality, for sure htc 10 and 10 lifestyle have more expensive and the strongest body in mobile world(the test prove that htc 10 family have the best body and are stand alone in top until this date).... and how lg pushed g5 se higher than htc 10 lifestyle???????????? olease think before writing and open ur eyes.

  • Nobody hates LG. It's just the truth that it's expensive than LG standard for failed reasons..... I wish it has a removable back and bigger battery in the same size.... That will be awesome..........

  • maybe because LG thinks they're superior with the modular thing which is not. It's completely useless, still waiting for a true modular phone (Project Ara please come >.

  • wow, look at the price! htc 10 lifestyle with same specs and less price.come on lg, what do you think with this price?!

  • How G5 SE is expensive than more powerful G5?

  • Don't cry for G5 brother. You got lucky if you were planning to buy it. It's not that good to pay a premium price... Ask any G5 owner for opinion and find out yourself.... Modular design sucks...... G5 will be a great phones if it has a fixed bigger battery or a removable battery like G4. I bet The people who bought G5 never removed their battery from the phone. Because they are worried it might get damage by accident. Motor z has a better modular design than G5..

  • G5's design has no taste :D

  • I used to love LG since G2...best phone I ever had... But now I really dissapointed in LG...not selling G5 but instead only G5 SE in my country ?! Sorry LG..G5 is not that good just to overlook that you got no respect..

  • Maybe people who isn't aware that this phone isn't G5. And you know mate, they decline to put SE in pre-order ad, so you must dig into spec sheet to know what you buy isn't G5.

  • I love 💘 everything about it except its screen size. SE version should be smaller 4.5-5 inch

  • Other than its mediocre display and battery's life Lg g5 is a good phone. If you want a cheap flagship wait till G6 is out and you can get a flagship phone dirt cheap...

  • Seem that lg haters are troling here....whatever dude. stop spaming here

  • Phones from reputed companies never had any issues with battery, and most of the good phones have life of 2 to 3 years and batteries are good for that dirationy

  • About 800 $ for a shitty phone with placebo resolution, only 2800 mAh, 3GB RAM and a mid-range CPU ?! Has LG lost their mind, who on earth will buy this overpriced trash phone?! Redmi Note 3 Pro is FOUR times cheaper and offers similar power with SD 650 and 3GB RAM, also has 4100 mAh battery... just what the fuck LG.

  • The screen which consumes most power is 2k when compared to your other phones. Requires more battery to run.

  • With same starting price, I can get myself a brand new S6 flat.

  • right... in my opinion(and others) lite/se stands for smaller or less speced device which usually goes at the lower price. as an lg fan (since prada 3.0) i am well disappointed again. 800 for lower soec device when you can buy g5(same size better specs) for 600-650 sim free... wtf?!!!

  • I've been using some of Samsung phones (Alpha, S4, Note3, S5,and now E5) Iphone 5S and Sony Z3 compact, this time I bought LG G5 SE (used for 4 days). Now I am still using Samsung E5 and Iphone 5S. I set display brightness 40%, network on 2G/Edge as I am not playing games and less web browsing, switch on my handphone every day at 08.00 AM until average 11.00PM. Samsung E5 still have (average) 80% battery left, Iphone 5S 75%, but LG G5 SE 63% (average). I don't know why LG G5 SE consume for power compare to Samsung E5 and Iphones for the same activities. Anyway I may say I like LG G5 SE, it has ability to modify more than what I can do with Samsung. I can lock and unlock the phone by tapping on the screen, pretty simple for me. Camera (dual camera) is good, sharp and clear especially camera with wide angle lens. pretty decent in low light, well not good as Samsung S7 when I made direct comparison at Samsung stores. In general, I am happy with my first experience with LG smartphone.

  • Best selling phone? Just no...

  • This phone is a joke, currently the pre-order started in Brazil with a ridiculous price tag, about the same as the Galaxy S7 Edge! U$970,00 to be exact. What makes everything worse are the main retailers not listing it properly as "G5 SE", they are going for the full LG G5 naming and promo, they're hiding the actual model number and specifications. Here are the brief specs of the LG G4: Model: H815P, Processor: 64bit Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 with Adreno 418 Graphics, Memory: 3GB Ram, 32GB Internal. Now on the same website: Model: LG G5, Processor: Octa-core, Memory 32GB Internal Did LG make this cheaper so we could have a more affordable phone or so companies and themselves make more profit? The base salary in Brazil is less than U$250/month, they're selling a trimmed down version of the LG K10 for U$270 with 1GB RAM, it feels like LG wants to earns their profit one way or another. So we gotta work more for less and pay more for less, makes sense huh.

  • This phone will be sold in Europe

  • great phone. enough specifications for an average user.if LG makes pocket friendly the phone will be sold like hot cacke, also i love removable battery and dedicated memmory card slot'.

  • its a cool phone compared to samsung its top of the range and best selling phone on the market right now.#THUMBSUPLGG5

  • Phone Android : 1.Ram >=2Gb. 2.Rom >=32Gb. 3. Camera enough for use. 4. CPU enough for use. Spec: Pin removable. I like this.

  • Yes, me too. I have no earthly idea why companies are making all these phones without removable batteries. It makes no sense. Phone is essentially worthless once it stops working.

  • Ok I saw what you did there LG. You could have actually sealed this iteration off and make it waterproof you know. Just saying in case of next time!

  • Love the removable battery.

  • should have named g5 e

  • When I saw the "SE" moniker, which reminds me of the recent Apple product that are small, some say it's a downgrade. For some a sophisticated downgrade of a monstrously powerful flagship is exactly what's needed. For LG, 3 generations of 2K displays of the G series (not to mention the V10, which also have 2K resolution) I thought with an "SE" they would brilliantly delivers a much needed FHD flagship phablet into the latest Marshmallow-equipped lineup. But according to this rumour I was wrong. I won't let my hopes up though, not at least until the phone made official retail release. I know most other brands has already set out their fighters in this department, but LG has its own strengths: Slim bezels, Great camera, On screen navigation bar that always lit up brightly whenever the screen turned on (so far I have only noticed Motorola and Sony that does this, and Sony's got a nice trick that hides this virtual navbar when viewing pictures/videos, only a single tap away from bringing it back to use), and with the new G5, Modularity.

  • Not a Smaller Edition like iphone! :(

  • yes! great! now, can we have one that will actually fit into the pocket rather than backpack please! ;)

  • 1080 30fps???? WHAT?!
