This is the worst phone i ever bought. Battery life is very short. Most of the time keypad(touch screen) does not work properly.Speaker phone is not clear at all. while on use it becomes hot like nothing. Even the agent couldn't do anything. I don't recommend to by this. Waste of money. I wanted to sell this soon after I baught but failed.

I've just bought this yesterday. I was interested by the promo price (the last one item). 'Cause there was no time, I tested it in my house, and found the color was too bright for cartoon pictures (my Miku got her hair like aqua). I found buzz when playing music too (I listen at low volume) which is really annoying. Today, I took it back to the shop, but they didn't want to give cash-back or change with other phone. ok, i bought this phone 3 days ago, as i understood some features could be found on LG world site, but, when i saw that only few countries are on this list, and only those countries can downl. applications i was very disappointed. Phone does look great, but why do i need a phone if that is all it has. And offcourse no flash! how stupid is to have ''night'' scene option if your pics are all black. i mean NOTHING to see on pic. this is the perfect phone. i bought it for 300$ in Turkey. my only negative comment about this phone would be about limited applications. android has 150.000 apps but this phone has only 5 native apps. :) but i thinkyou may run all Java applications. I agree with the others, the design is simply amazing and really caught my eye! But once you dig deeper, it's really not as great as it appears. I just bought it this morning and have been playing around with it all day. Some things I've noticed, it lags very often, and when watching videos it's extremely blurry. I would never recommend this phone to anyone!

Nice looking phone. Easy to use. Goood size to carry in the pocket. Reception on the weak side (Nokia, Motorola & Blackberry phones have good & accurate reception). Battery don't last (although it came with two). 5MP camera's quality not as good as the 5MP camera on older LG phones (especially in low light condition!). LG phones (5MP) in the old days can take good brght pictures in the same condition; but not any more! ... and this Mini has got no flash!!! * All Korean made phones have one common problem - when travelling from one country to another (after crossing the border), they always need a long time to search for the local provider ... this never will happen with any Nokia phone, for example.

this phone is awesome!!! the touch doesnt work, it freezes all the time! the battery is dead after 4 or 5 hours since you charged it. Another problem is the camera! the flash led doesnt work neither since when u take a picture in the dark the result is a black screen, the same happens with the video! Absolutely terrible!!!!

Had a very disappointing experience. The 3G services worked very slowly and very inconsistently. The phone is very laggy and the screen freezes frequently, especially when you are typing an SMS fast. Also, the phone's features work only as advertised. eg. the pinch to zoom does not work in google maps, and the qwerty keyboard comes up only if you are typing an sms or email, not in notes or calendar.

The touch screen, obviously not up to apple standards ( what phone is) however it feels definite in its functions and responses. I have just got this phone. It froze once while doing some basic functions - looking at the available shortcuts & apps. It shut down while charging with the wall charger. I have charged it fully from a USB port on the laptop. I have installed the LG application on my laptop, synchronized contacts and pictures, added some music. Then downloaded the software update and it took about 30 minutes do display a message that the USB comm was interrupted, and I should disconnect it, remove the batery, put it back and restart. Well...IT DOES NOT RESTART! What should I do?

I got this phone a few months a go and I've been quite happy with it, but I do have one problem. Last night, I used the earphones to listen to the radio and when I unplugged the headphones, the handset still shows that the headphones are plugged in and so I can't make or recieve calls without the headphones. Does anyone have any advise onn how I could get the green headphone symbol off my handset, so that I can use the phone without headphones? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I asked before about the batter ... well, i finally bought it and on the first charge it lasted 1 day with wi-fi 15 min and more than 30-45 min browsing the interface plus some short calls. Now, on 3rd charge it lasted all day long with only 1 battery bar. Probably it will last till tomorrow. So, the conclusion: With moderate use of wi-fi (not more than 15-20min) and short calls (not more than 10-20 min) and 30 min menu browsing/day the battery should last at least 24 hours. ;)

Getting this phone. The capitive touch is so good except the handwritting by finger... Sound is large, can use MIDI as ringtone. Didn't try internet as no wifi at home. But on the 2nd day, I install the PS suite and upgrade the firmware according to the instrustion, it stops at 14%.............................................­................................................­............ And my phone can't use now...need to take it to LG repaire center at NEXT week...So %$@#%!@#$^ Why? Why me?

I like to know that if my phone exploded because I drop it from certain height or the phone had comes into contact with some water, then I can't blame anyone but my own luck..??? My first touch phone (the phone I wanted was a 2009 Nokia deemed of course out of date and therefore unobtainable) and I really don't like it. As I should have anticipated, it is massively over-programmed. I, for one, am not interested in half the icons that appear: Bluetooth; Twitter; Orange Communication; Facebook and others. It looks the part and yet it does not do what it is supposed to do very well. The phonebook access is poor and is not user-friendly. Sending texts is a real bind and the screen is hard to see in even mild sunlight and the battery does not hold its full charge for more than one day. Of course I am not a technical whizz and therefore my comments may not impress but I am a customer and it is, at the end of the day, supposed to be a telephone!

WiFi - very poor/slower than the desktop, pathically. Design - Toyish look (thinner is always poorer than shorter/thicker with mobiles), screen and speed - very poor, Phone -#### , music - poor, Apps -not ok. Kind of phone you'd probably never keep for a long time, it's poorer for what it does.

Yes there isn't a lot out there in terms of apps. There are a few built in widgets but nothing amazing. When browsing use mobile formatted sites. There doesn't seem to be a dictionary but it does have chinese language/characters. Basically Java apps are the only real option, eg Getjar. If it is apps you want, this isn't the phone. Cheers.

I don't think the number of widgets affects scrolling speed by any marked amount. I have two full screens of widgets and half a screen and it scrolls fine. Texting is ok, keys a little small and "aim left" a little with the thumb on each key.

how do the phone owners think of texting using this phone? I've tried a demo phone in a local shop and the phone ran really fast and smooth. But I highly suspect that's becoz there was hardly any widget on the homescreens, which made the swapping between homescreens really smooth as well...

You may have heard comments that the screen is not responsive. I've never found that - it is quick between screens and starting apps (unlike WM6.1 on the HTC Touch HD). I wonder if the pro' reviewers removed the hard to spot/difficult to see plastic screen cover when using it.

I mainly use it surfing via wi-fi for surfing - probably give it 30 minutes+ or so twice a day. In two days it gets down to 1 bar of battery. During the day it is on standby and gets used for music and texting infrequently. So I'm not the best example of a user who makes lots of calls. As a previous Windows Mobile user on a HTC Touch HD it is certainly better than that.

I wrote the message with the 2 draw-backs. I have to revise my statement about the battery before. I'm on my third day now and there is still on battery bar left. So, under normal usage, 2.5 to 3 days. Using email, sms, alarm, occasionally web. The Java RSS reader I had a look at. Don't like it. I propably have to use websites that are designed for mobile devices. Other than that I'm still impressed. My fist LG.

Battery life for this model is very good. Normal usage of phone would take you 2 and half days.

Yes the RSS reader is particularly bad. I signed up for free with where you can easily define/sync the RSS feeds and they work well on the handset. There are some java apps at getjar.com but, no it's never going to be an iPhone in terms of apps.

I've got the phone and been using it for the last few days. Brilliant as long as you don't need apps. I really like it for its design and features. Two draw-backs: 1. Battery life is very poor. I mean, if I use the internet, few text messages/emails... can't get 24hrs out of it. Have the display background light at its minimum. Power saving on. And I haven't even used the music play yet. Big minus. 2. RSS reader. Have they ever used the reader at LG? The initial setup is great. But then, you klick an item and it opens in the browser. Smallest font, poorest navigation, ... it could be so much better. Anyhow. If you are looking for a great phone with touch screen and brilliant colours. That's the one. Any questions, let me know.

As I've said before, my mini has a noticeable heating up after a few minutes speaking. 15 minutes is enough to feel the top side uncomfortable warm (no overheated, but uncomfortable anyway). I guess this should be considered normal when charging, but I think it is not normal after just 10-15 minutes of conversation. Could it be any health risk?

I get a mini a couple of weeks ago, and i've noticed that this phone starts heating at the top side after 10 minutes of conversation. It overheats when charging battrery as well. Is this normal?. None of my previous phones worked like this. Regares.

I tried an email and it worked fine - the chinese characters came up mapped to the keys, all menus in chinese as well.

Well, on the device setting screen the language options show Chinese characters (TW and HK). When you select it it turns all the menus into...chinese. The characters are very sharp on the display.

Yes very good phone. Excellent even. Wifi based surfing in particular is superb. Screen is great to use. Still having trouble finding Apps for the screen size that run on the LG OS. Any suggestions?

Sorry, you are right. It's only in memos and tasks that it doesn't have QWERTY.

LG's own OS. So it isn't Android or Windows mobile. You are a bit limited in apps and games for it - have to hunt around a bit.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you, m8! It DOES HAVE a qwerty keyboard for texting. The keys are rather small, but it's easy and fast to text when you get used to it. I'm using this GD880 now, along with a GD510 for a 2nd card, and they both have the same qwerty for text messages.

I've brought one and have been using it over the last few days. On the positive side: - the screen is responsive and quick. After one day I discovered it still had a plastic screen cover on the tempered glass - it wasn't easy at all to tell there was one - and after removing it made it more sensitive to screen gestures including pinch/expand - the OS is quick, but then by comparison I have been using a HTC Touch HD which is quite slow. There are no lags like on WM devices. - the Wi-Fi is quick to connect and very fast to download - it is slim and thin, unequaled in that regard. I considered the shorter but fatter Sony X10 mini. - the desktop software has great sync features and happily picked up my Outlook contacts etc. It has a drag and drop java installer which if you can find touchscreen java apps is very easy to use. On the downside: - texting uses a standard candy bar style keypad and has no QWERTY option, but web pages have a QWERTY keyboard - have to be precise with the buttons as the screen is not huge and therefore the keys are close together - RSS feeds work fine until you open one and the feed appears in a browser in small text which is hard to use, its easier to use mobile formatted sites then the RSS reader - Limited games and application availability being Java based but that may not matter to many - Camera is good enough but not great Ok, it's technically not a smartphone but does that really matter given the smartphone features it has?

Actually there's a wrong information on this description. The GD880mini has hybrid display (LCD-Technology/16mln colours) instead of a TFT Display (256k colours)as described above.. regards

Just got mine last night. Haven't had too much time to play with it besides very basic settings, but so far my impressions: Really compact package, smaller than I expected and I love that. Pretty solid feel, nothing is flimsy. The rear cover takes a bit getting used to, but once you get the hang of it no troubles. Excellent build quality, seamless no gaps. If I could change something about the looks, it would be to get rid of the ugly LG logo that breaks the clean face of the phone. Touch interface is good, snappy response. Visually pleasing. Music player sound quality is excellent. Better than my small ipod shuffle and other MP3 players. Haven't used camera or browser yet. Did connect to my wireless at home, am having troubles connecting to office wifi network (WPA2 security?). Will try and sort it out when I get a few minutes. Besides the logo, my other gripe is the ease with which this phone unlocked in my pocket this morning and dialed out. Have yet to find a setting/option that allows for a more secure screen lock. Battery is not concave, flat block. We'll see how the life is.

yeah, I agree with you about modern touchscreen's battery performance. when I visited LG Repair Centre I saw the battery for most LG touchscreen like Arena, New Chocolate, Crytal, Viewty is the same battery. the strange thing is the battery surface is concave at bothside. Guess, Mini use the same battery too. If LG make it with flat surface, it will increase the battery performance at least for a little longer. I like playing around with my Arena for a few hour everyday, so I need a better batt.

woody: You are right, the battery (900 mAh) is the major downside of this device (it's a pity GSM Arena don't do their own tests). But then again, what modern touchscreen phone *does* have an even just acceptable battery life? None in my experience. (A phone that I have to recharge daily is not really "mobile" in my opinion). However, I am still thinking about getting this one and just putting up with the weak battery. My old phone is broken, and the First ELSE is still too far away (no one seems to know when, or even if it is coming). It's handy (my other gripe with most touchscreen phones - they're too big), looks nice, and seems to be quick and stable from what I've heard. Plus, compared to other phones it is dead cheap where I live (Switzerland). As for Android or some other smartphone OS - I'm not sure if I would have appreciated that. You pay a lot for the added flexibility, such as reduced stability and even less battery life. In most cases I would choose a feature phone over a smartphone every day, because I use these things for communication only, and not playing around. AMOLED would have been nice though, especially because it would have made the battery last at least a little longer.

I was playing with this GD880 mini a week ago at the Portuguese CarPhoneWareHouse ("PhoneHouse" for us in Portugal). Didn't notice any lag at all. The touchscreen works just as it should and the LG OS responds promptly. The major "flaw" is the very small qwerty keyboard. Were they planning on offering this LG to kids? 8) Apart from the small keyboard, its price pushed me back: 399EUR????? Come on!!! For that money we can get a nice HTC Legend!

Is this another April Fool's Joke??? 3.2" 16:9 screen with a resolution of 480 x 854. The screen size is that of Nokia touch phones like 5800, 5230, X6, N97 mini that all come with 3.2" 16:9 screen Albeit with a lower resolution. But fitting a screen that size in a phone that is 102 x 47.6 ??? Add to that every other feature like 5 MP autofocus camera, GPS, Secondary videocall camera, 1000 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and you'll feel this has to be the fattest phone, but its only 10.6mm!!! Hello everyone, I m perhaps the most eager fan of LG mobiles...thanks to their sleek designs. but i am worried about the future of the company since they are offering nothing when it comes to smartphones.Since the success of their Chocolate kg800 (the older one), they have been focusing on fashionable devices. Look at KF750 secret, GD900 Crystal, Viewty Smart, Shine ,BL40 new chocolate and now this on GD880 mini. All of these are amazing looking phones, but....what about OS. These are just feature phones( in other words DUMB phones).Now if they continue in the same way, what will happen to them in the nextone to two years. I am sure they will have to leave the third place for sony or MOTO. LG has not released even a single high end device after new chocolate BL40 (back in september 2009).Their sales are increasing but profit is decreasing. All of my dear friends! WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SUGGEST TO LG TO CONTINUE ITS SUCCESS IN MOBILE ARENA. Worried Fan.

very nce design. I like it small and slim. What's more? It has good connectivity feature. 3G, wifi etc. Also comes with a 5mp cam. I don't bother about flash. They are unless anyway. I just hope the touch screen is very responsive. Any lag, would be a major disappointment. As for email. I hope it comes with push mail and can sync with microsoft exchange server which I use for work. Thanks LG, I guess you really listen to your customers by producing a gem here. Something smaller, lighter, more features, better cam etc. Cheers!

LG phones lack style, they are loaded well with latest features, but as you all know, there is never a value for money package, so if u want something, u have to compramise on other features. Its always a NO for LG, awaiting Samsung Galaxy i9000, its a killer phone.

I kinda like the design by marat fidarov studio, with the metal sides, and the hot-swappable microSD slot. Light and elegant, with decent size capacitive screen w/multitouch, etc. A bit disappointed with limited camera capabilities, including lack of flash and only 15 fps video recording.

can someone please explain to me why all these cellphone manufacturers don't just make all their phones quad band, 3g for both europe and usa frequencies???? so many good phones don't support us 3g frequencies so i have to pass on them. i am currently using a quad band non-3g phone (samsung b5702) and reception indoors sucks!!!!

I have tested this device and my opinion on it is a good one; the touchscreen is simple and good (not comparable to the iphone or smth like that) but it really does the trick. The menu browsing is simple and fast ( i saw no lagging when changing menus), the signal reception is good and the battery life is fair (4 days or so i think with 20mins per day of talk). Per total i am very pleased with this new device
