LG Optimus F5 - User Reviews

  • Go to 'System settings' and at the setting screen tab to 'More" in the first section 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS' select Mobile networks, select Mobile operators, select the sim which you want to use for networks. First try Choose Automatically to see if you can get registered on the network - if still doesn't work try the Select Manually option and seeing if you can select your network. Check Lg LG Optimus F5 (P875) Manual- guideusermanual.com/product-name-lg-optimus-f5-p875-manual&po=121774&lang=English for details.

  • how do you locate your phone if it has been stolen?

  • By far the worst phone I have ever used. Even those brick Nokias of the old were better than this piece of trash simply because there wasn't any expectations on those (brick) phones! Battery problems I often lose 1-2% of battery every minute of whatsapp messaging. A half an hour whatsapp chat can quickly drain up half of my battery life. There was once I even restarted this phone when it was at 50% battery and overheating its ass off only for it to sputter back to life momentarily with its battery meter red and go flat immediately after. It heats up as fast as a kettle!!! Often accompanied with the fast battery drainage, this overheating problem sets in very fast. You could be scrolling around your email and 5 minutes later the phone feels like your car bonnet parked under the midday sun. IT DOESN'T DO WHAT YOU TELL IT TO DO. Every night, I turn off the Wi-Fi and the data network as well as set the phone to airplane mode. Every morning, I wake up to emails and whatsapp messages sent in the middle of the night. When the phone is supposed to be offline. 80% of the time when I try to turn on the Wi-Fi from the shortcut menu at the top of the screen, the phone would turn its Wi-Fi back off the moment I open internet and I will end up wasting a few minutes trying to connect to no avail because how the heck am I to know that this shit thing would turn its Wi-Fi off itself?!? A few things can happen when you press the lock button: 1. It locks the screen/ prompts an unlock/ goes to the home page. This is what it is supposed to do. This also only happens about 30% of the time (to be conservative). 2. It prompts you to restart itself (about 50% of the time) 3. The light of the home button comes on for a few seconds. The screen remains blank and unresponsive and basically nothing else happens (about 20% of the time) It lags like hell Enough said. It is full of bloatware that it becomes so confusing as to which apps to use for which actions. There are duplicates: apps by LG, apps by Google, apps by some third party or some older version of the LG/ Google apps just to do something simple like open an image attachment. TLDR: Don't buy this phone

  • That happens to all phones with Android. That is a symptom of low memory available... When it doesn't have more memory available to run applications, and you doesn't free it, it simply reboot.

  • You need to set your date manually or connect to the internet.

  • Why is it that the calendar cannot go beyond 1970? Can advise?

  • In short: if i could throw this phone off a cliff i would do it in a heartbeat. This is the worst phone i have ever had and i plan on never getting another LG. Ever. Few issues: - phone apparently is autonomous and 'it' decides when it wants to randomly turn itself off and restart. - Having to load media every time the phone is turned off and then on again? seriously? the amount of times this processes had lagged or stopped completely at 55 or 97% loaded (meaning the phone and the process has to be restarted again). - Camera glitches. App will open but will show a black screen. Requires phone to be restarted... which leads to the point above about having to load media. - Apps constantly crash leading to phone having to be rebooted because the entire phone freezes. This phone is less than 14 months old on a 24 month plan and i do try to take care of it but i would never waste the money to buy it. Seriously, don't waste your money.

  • Am using this phone kg p875 F5, The concern is it doesn't pick 3G, HSPA network signal.it only work with Edge n 2G. My mobile sim carier provide all bands. What could be the problem? Or what can i do.

  • Damn good phone. really impressed with the touch and fast connection. No lag, and a great size phone

  • How to enter this code " ##lgservicemenu" to get the service menu?

  • Its a good phone, i have a galaxy note 2 thats pretty big to carry around as daily driver, so i just brought this phone, and i noticed the main diference between them is the camera and battery , besides that , its so snapy as my note 2 , a bit slower while playing games(subway surfers). If you think to turn 4g lte on, is better carry your travel charger with you becouse this phone discharge in 4 hours with 4g on and 12 hours with wifi. Here in brazil, for it value theres no better phone than that. PS: Lg set the cpu of this phone to 1,2 ghz but its possible to raise for 1.5 ghz.

  • the service code menu is ##lgservicemenu

  • You can move applications with AppManager III from Google Playstore.

  • Anyone know how to transfer data from phone memory to SD card?

  • Anyone knows the service menu code for this? - I have a terrible low microphone sound and everybody tells me to speak louder......

  • Just ordered one for me and the wife thru Optus (AUS) recontracted (24m) on the grandfathered $19/m plan for just $5/mth per handset, with a $50 credit on each one in month 3! So I'm $30 out of pocket until then, but after the credit it will be Christmas before I start paying again! Phones are effectively $70 each over two years.

  • Does anyone know the processor? Because here and in benchmarks programs it says that the F5 P875 have an 1.5GHz Dual Core Processor, but on my country, in almost any stores and online reviews of this smartphone and even in the oficial LG site, it says that the processor is a Dual core 1.2Ghz one.

  • I just purchased LG Optimus F5.i dont like that the calendar repeat cannot be set for 'every other week'.also,i dont see where it saves your text message as draft if you exit before sending. Am i just missing a couple of settings? Otherwise phone is awesome!

  • This phone is good i love it it has no lag

  • Between this and samsung galaxy core/sony xperia M/LG optimus p7 710 which do you prefer and why?

  • Im using an Lg Optimus F5 to type this down. This phone has no lag, works perfectly and can run quite high graphics and performance. Recommended gor mid-range phones

  • This phone was absolutely fantastic :) it will not be lag if you dont download big files. seriously no lag. except this phone no LED Flash Light for Camera. 5 Megapixel are just fine. 1.2Ghz Dual-Core are just above average. Overall this phone are just good and fantastic :)

  • Umm if you are from Australia lg Optimus lte 3 looks good and it isn't too expensive as well. The different thing is lte 3 is faster, bigger, more pixel, more ram, more pixel for camera, led flash for camera, bigger battery and comes with led home button. Remember it will only work on 900 and 2100 MHz. So if u want to go with Telstra it's bad. So yeah, maybe look into lte 3.

  • can this get google play and is it android?

  • hey guys i am trying to buy a mid range device, is the f5 worth it. i have two in mind the motorola razr m of the f5. which one to choose. Thanks guys

  • Hey guys i am trying to get a good mid range device, is the f5 worth it or not. i have two in mind, Motorola droid razr m of the f5. which one to chose Thnaks guys

  • Well bro, I have this phone and it's currently my daily driver. I can say the battery life last abt 5hrs browsing web, playing games and answering phone calls continuously. Soooo it is not a pretty bad phone for a mid range model.

  • I was playing around with this phone for a while at the local cell carrier's store, and I must say it's pretty snappy. It had a smoother experience than phones with prices much higher than this one. Although the screen isn't a full 720p or higher, it still looks decent due to the smaller form-factor of the device. Speaking of its size, there really haven't been many good devices released lately in smaller sizes like this, so it definitely fills that niche very well. I'd recommend it to anybody looking for a smaller-sized, cheaper yet good performing Android phone. If you want a large HD screen this isn't the device for you, however.

  • i think phone is good! if you dont play any games the phone can stay whitout charging a week! phone is rely powerful, it doesnt have arabic keyboard...(sorry for englis im from Latvia)

  • can anyone help me with som few dollars cus im broke and still want to own a phone like this

  • base on your experience, how long is its battery life in normal usage as in, call, text, some games and browsing?

  • Does it have Arabic keyboard??

  • Low battery backup

  • I have the phone and it uses a micro sim.

  • 1.7ghz

  • Is this a Micro-sim or Mini-sim? Plss...ans

  • I can confirm that the CPUs run @ 1,51GHz according to CPUZ. Been using for month now, and rather pleased with it. Yes battery is removable, yes microSD can be added. Only thing I miss in F5 P875 is LED. Performance is good, IPS display bright and colorful. I like how camera gets sharps shots on first attemt, instead of 3. It is hard not to like the phone, especially considering its price.

  • This phone has 1.2GHz?? Because on a benchmark at youtubr i saw it with 1.5GHZ and somewhere else snapdragon MSM8960 has 1.7GHz which one is true???

  • Man... Read carefully. No one is saying this has no SD card. I said it "IN GENERAL" about phones. What companies impose these days. Now when we come to this phone again; it has NO FLASH. Which is utterly .tupid. Period. There is no mention of gyroscope either. And so on. Are we OK now? Please i beg you, read the posts carefully, also read at least last 10. Don't enter the conversation from the middle. Geez...

  • Got the phone a little over a week ago for $300 AUD, and have been very pleased with it, Runs quick and smoothe and had no problems. and why do i keep seeing people saying "no SDcard" it has a SD card up to 32gb. and sure it is a older version of android.. but it doesnt impact the usability of the phone. Anyways im hoping sometime down the line Devs start to build Roms for this phone, i just came from a P500 and that phone Really punched high.

  • really its beter than iphone i mean not much cost good price

  • The issues other than flash wasn't related to this phone. I was talking in general there. Cos' companies seems trying to force some .tupid things on customers lately. Like no SD card, Non-removable batter, huge screens..etc. Because of that i am stcok with a 2 year old phone. But i am not gonna change it until a decent mid-range phone comes.

  • i have 2 questions 1 - does it have gorilla glass? 2 - does it have MHL ? thank you in advance :)

  • Actually the lack of flash is kind of an issue indeed...still ive bought the phone one month ago and im extremely pleased...it does have a slot to insert a micro sd card (up to 32GB) so no need to carry a media player ;). As for the battery...im an avide user of chat apps (Whatsapp, viber etc), playing music or web radio stations..the batter so far is so and so...

  • why there is no gryoscope in lg phone.

  • Just got this phone and downloaded cpuz and bit says that my cores run the a peak of 1.51ghz and bin in love with this phone

  • Yeah.. Carry external flash because they don't put a simple flash to the phone, carry extra battery because they don't put a decent battery, carry media player because they don't put SD cart slots anymore... Great solutions. Actually i think my idea is better. Never buy a smartphone it doesn't give you what you need and what it's supposed to give. ;)

  • You can plug in an external flash to the usb port.it can be adjusted in any direction and also works as torch.

  • It would be perfect phone if it has a flash

  • Yes, this phone should be one of great mid-range phones, but it's voided by no flash. The moron in LG management who decided to put away flash should be fired!

  • Super agree to this comment. Come on LG, you want to compete or not? Don't be silly by putting away flash, low quality camera etc..

  • Actually there are other things. Like S4 mini and HTC one will come with 4.2.2. This is still 4.1.2. And there is no mention of gyro either. Which may not be important to you but it is for me. Another thing is time. This was announced in February and still yet to come... Another handicap.. Anyhow if they were to release it like an upgraded P970,including flash, gyro, SD card and etc; it would be my first choice no matter what. LG is my brand. Otherwise i am gonna have to pass. they are important for me. But if they are not for you; you can buy it. It all comes to personel choises and needs. :)

  • I'm not defending anything. This phone has all the things a phone should have plus lots of other goodies, sadly flash is not included. HTC one on the other hand has flash, better screen but lacks SD slot and has smaller battery (which doesn't mix well with high performance screens). in the end every phone will have its shortcomings, but as it stands the only "shortcoming" of F5 is lack of flash.

  • Are you serious? I don't think you are. Those you wrote are neither means something nor productive. Anyway yet another mid-range : Look at the specs. Now here you are defending the lack of flash? You can't be serious. Not having a flash was a big misteke. Period! Let's hope they would make a phone with the same design. But without leaving important things out. Like "flash", SD card..etc.

  • Cameras are for taking videos and pictures, not phones. Who gives a flying F*** about flash. This is a good cheap mid-range phone. If you want all the bells and whistles go for (obscenly oversized) flagships of top companies.

  • this phone look stunning, can't compare to mediocre lg optimus l5 2

  • This phone should have a Flash, 8Mp Camera with 1080@30fps capability and lastly a 1.5Ghz/Higher Dual Core Krait Processor coupled with 1Gb/2Gb of RAM.

  • Cool? Come on man, that's not a good phone. F5 is awesome if it is gonna have flash. This design, screen..etc awesome. Otherwise i am considering S4 mini. Aside from the screen and the design s4 mini is better. LG is my brand. But i can't buy a phone that lacks basic features just because of my fancy for the company. They need to make more clever decisions if they wanna compete with Samsung.

  • Guys check out the LG Optimus F3...it's specs are cool...

  • F7 has flash, F5 doesn't have flash

  • I have the Escape P870,is the same phone and don't have flash. In my case, I really don't use too much the camera, so it's not a problem for me. For that I have a reflex camera. In other hand, the phone is really fast. For the price I've bought the phone, really worth it. If you don´t mind take night photos and want a fast phone, you should give it a try to this phone. Check this benchmark of P870

  • Yes. Someone bought and reported that it has no flash. You can read in the comments, it is somewhere below.

  • available in Hong kong already

  • So, this phone really have "LED flash" according GSMarena article, if someone say own this phone and say this phone doesn't have LED flash, I'm sure that phone is fake because there's still no official release. I think LED issue is resolved.

  • Unfortunately that might be written with haste or they didn't think there won't be a flash. C'mon who can imagine a camera without flasg except... There is no indication in anywhere, not even on LG's website that the phone actually has flash. And if you look at the pictures of the phones back there is no flash. Plus, someone from Hong Kong said he bought it and there was no flash. Until the phone is really out can't say with %100 that it does not ahve flash but %90 chance it's not gonna have one. Which is a real shame. :(

  • " At the back, there's a 5MP autofocus camera, compete with an LED flash." quote from GSMarena article about LG optimus at MWC 2013

  • Yeah, no flash BIG mistake

  • HI some body tell me abt this mobie . i want to buy it my frainds is campose me do'nt purches this cellphone. its baterry backup is very low also more feture

  • How much do you think a flash will add to the cost? My guess is they either forgot it or made a poor judgement. People who are considering to buy it would still have bought it if it had flash (more gladly possibly), but not every one of them is gonna buy it because the lack of flash. It's that simple unfortunately.

  • I understand what you are saying. But unfortunately that's not it. Do you know how much a flash will add to the cost? They either forgot it or they made a big mistake. LG's poor decisions like this prevents it from being a major player. LG' hardware is better than Samsung but it is sooo behind Samsung. Major reason is Samsung supplies best software support to it's phones, LG doesn't. Galaxy S2 got JB, LG's similar phones got only a poorly done ICS. And they gave it because of the huge protests of the users. Otherwise LG was decided not to give. Oh, and they give it very very late, people were using JB when LG gave it. LG cuts the support and forces you to buy new phones. Which is soo poor judgement. A new phone every year? Gotta be a joke.. I love LG. Despite it's major faults it's still my first choice. But unfortunately it has poor judgements. Like this "flash" issue. It's very simple.I'll buy this phone if it will have flash. If not i'll buy a Samsung or Sony. This is my opinion of course. But there is one fact; everyone who is considering to buy this phone would still buy it if it had a flash, but not all of them aregonna buy it because it doesn't have it.

  • Lg is trying to balance quality and affordability. Hence, a mid range phone with cool specs witout the flash.

  • No it doesn't have. I surfed the net, also watched a lot of "hands-on" video of the phone at MWC 2013. There was no flash. Autofocus and gyroscope are still unknown. Also If you look below someone bought it in Hong Kong and gave feedback. No flash. I am really having hard time to understand. Let's leave gyroscope out. How can a camera doesn't have flash and autofocus? Lg makes different models so every models has some features and lacks some. But these are standart features. You can't just cut them. Anyway i am waiting for Europe versions may be they can be different. Though i don't think they will be. I am already searching for another phone. LG seriously disappointed me. I was waiting for a long for something solid to replace my P970 -> Best phone Lg ever made. Aside the fact that they didn't give the attention to the phone it deserves.

  • Yeah, it has LED flash, article about LG optimus at MWC 2013 mentioned it.

  • Thx for the info. Who makes a camera without flash? Ridiculous. And also software problem which is not a suprise for LG. I am guessing no gyroscope too. Way to make a phone less desirable. I thougt this could be a successor for P970, I was planning to buy it but now i don't. Looks like i'm gonna have to wait another year to buy a decent phone. New phones are either giant and/or ugly, or missing important features like, SD card, flash, gyroscope... etc.

  • I just bought the phone in Hong Kong - The camera doesn't come with flash - the phone seems have problem with Power Saver mode, after enable Power Saver mode and charge it overnight the phone will not wake up when you press power buttom I have to remove and install the battery again to power on the phone. However for the phone's performance It works great with my 3G Carrier , reception is okay, voice call quality is acceptable (compare with my old LG P500) , didn't play games but web browsing is fast!

  • This looks like a phone that i would buy but... I have 3 reservations so 3 questions? 1-Does this really have no flash? and will not have? 2-And also no gyroscope? These 2 are real deal breakers. And the last one is more like a reservation. Cos LG is recidivist on this matter. I have an P970 i would know so; 3-How will the software support be later on, i mean after we bought. Will we be stock on 4.1.2 while other people using 6.x It's already 4.2.2 and phone is coming with this. Giving the Lg's track on software support it doesn't look promising. I can accept a simple point to right direction if questions can't be answered. I wanted to ask LG directly but i don't know any contact address. The one in my country has even less knowledge than me.

  • This model dual sim? or single sim?

  • It should have a flash to compliment the 5MP camera specially on capturing pics and video at night an low light backgrounds or locations..Pls have the flash available for this phone ASAP to make it salable.

  • No LED Flash,no HD video recordin, exapandale memory could have been 64 GB.. same features are available in many devices in same price range

  • if there is flash on the mobile then it is complete the users requirements...

  • Agree..with 800+ LTE sites already available this phone will be salable here in philippines.

  • Please have it available in the Philippines, This will be a salable phone with the same specs shown.

  • Please LGE include an led flash it is really a great help for this midrange optimus f5.

  • Yeah, the LG escape P870 is the same phone, and run all the games smooth

  • can this phone with those specs play nova 3 smoothly? thanks

  • when will it launch in India? I am going to buy it as soon as it is going to launch, .

  • a direct rival for s4 mini ?

  • this phone has cpu chipset qualcomm msm 8960lite with andreno 225 gpu

  • yes,without any efforts smoothly

  • Pls does i av whattsapp on it

  • will it have adreno 305 gpu like xperia L?

  • no flash no buy

  • though its not mentioned here but it has LED flash.

  • me too, first they make the l9 with only 4 gb internal memory and miserable camera quality and now they make this phone without led flash, those pathetic lg mid-range phones will never sell like other companies phones.

  • HAHA, can't believe, no LED near camera!

  • Only if priced ~300 euro it will be a possible success... depending on 1. build quality 2. camera quality 3. software stability 4. LTE availability in your region. Dont worry about the 1.2ghz, it is said to be very fast. Benchmarks dont mean a rats ass its only about end user experience. I read somewhere video recording is 1080p I hope this will be confirmed... Now LG release it quickly before interest is lost.

  • Posting your contact info such as phone number or email is not a good idea. We won't be responsible for any unwanted consequences.

  • If it hits Mexico and in a price range around 300-330EUR, it will be my next phone

  • please specify what kind of CPU is 1.2Ghz ,is battery removable? and memory/sim hot swappable? ..please have this phone available in the philippines, surely many will buy this phone, please include also battery test TY.

  • lg life's good lg mobiles

  • it is very good&stylish,as soon as need of banglash

  • i would love to know the exact price nd specs...hoping it will not cost more than 300 usd.otherwise i will be a no no for me.

  • I mean LG is asking for suit from Apple...

  • Agree with you ...

  • But wouldnt you think that 400$ is a bit too much for a phone like this 320$ will be max in my opinion.

  • I dont think so. The starting price might be around $400 or more. This phone comes from a Korean company, not from China. Korean products are priced high at first.

  • Arent you suppose to say, 'No weight? WTF!' LOL Its not yet the final specs dude, its just the preliminary specs. I'm sure it will have autofocus & flash.

  • i think now era HTML5

  • i would replace my htc desire x for this phone if priced within 18k

  • how about the price?

  • Gr8 phone.. LG are producing some awsum phones now. And wid big batteries.. If this phone will be between 240-280$ then it will be a very good phone in the price range.

  • No Autofocus, no flash, no thanks. Too bad, how much extra cost would it have been to add, almost a standard feature in Mid-range models now.

  • Nice Handset with less bezel..

  • put at least 8mp..
