LG P525 - User Reviews

  • What type of phone? Smart, android, iphone etc

  • What type of phone? Smart, android, iphone etc

  • Guys, Maybe it fell from me more than 15 times, but it is still working, It's cheap but normal, so don't expect it to be super. Maybe the screen isn't that good, but it's working, and I'm surprised that its RAM is 32 MB, because it worked like its RAM is 64 MB. It's made to be a normal phone

  • I have used it for one year now but recently I have been having issues with the touch screen. Won't recommend it to my friends.

  • Seriously, this phone is really bad. It's a shame korean brands are making such bad quality phones (Samsung b7722 is another example). The screen is almost unusable, the worst touch screen I've seen by far. Even the ancient Nintendo DS Lite screen is way better than this one, and it isn't supposed to work with the fingers. There's no way to turn off the shutter sound and it's very loud and garish. Sometimes you can't use the on-screen keyboard for no apparent reason. This particularly is very annoying, I'm used to the keyboard but sometimes you have to use the obsolete numpad to type text. The hardware capabilities are very bad. Even my Sony Ericsson W300i, which is VERY old runs more applications and faster than this phone, even when the application runs on this phone, it's way slower, some doesn't even run because of low memory. You can call prejudice, but after buying bad quality Samsung and LG electronics and also falsely advertised Hyundai vehicles, I'm personally boycotting korean products. I never had such problems with american/european/japanese brands. These problems only began to happen when the koreans popped in the scene, and I don't want problems, so I'm probably never going to buy another korean product again. I feel sorry for the honest korean companies though. You better learn to don't make a low-cost product if you can't deliver a minimal quality. Especially when stamping the brand of a huge company like LG on it, because the reputation will be gone in no time.

  • I have this phone for over a year and I don't like it at all. The touch screen is very bad (only half of the screen works now, and everytime I try to calibrate, it gets worst). I can't choose the icons I want to display in the main screen, and also i can't delete applications that came with the cell phone. The game installed is abismal, and the phone can't handle Opera Mini 5 anymore (Opera 5 came installed with the phone). I had to downgrade to Opera 4 so it can work. So, if you need a dual-sim phone, get away from this one. You are doing a favor to yourself and to LG as to never made such a bad phone.

  • Not all LG phones are that bad. I'm quite satisfied with my LG-T385 for now..

  • For this kind of phone, the internal memory size is too small compare to other phone and I'm highly disappointed in the 2MP camera. and most importantly whenever i want to surf the internet, i have to stop the music which is not interesting.

  • the touch screen is very bad and i needed to fix it many times !

  • sometimes it will hang-up......... but d advantage wiyh ds phone is dat u can capture some scene while playing d video....and has a long battery life........

  • LG P525 is a total waste of money a phone i got 4 21000 naira, soft touch screen just stopped workin 1morning am neva using any LG phone Goosh.

  • for almost amonth now operate my phone. when i touch the screen it did not respond

  • Hi everyone,I have that phone for 3 days and I`m quite satisfied with it.The only problem so far is that I can`t make it use only wifi for internet.I tried everything I could think of and nothing happens-it uses gprs connection and that`s it!I also have gx500 which has almost the same menu, and there is no problem with setting only wifi for internet browsing. Can anyone help, please?

  • im so disappointed on this phone it always hangs and i dont know where to turn off the camera shutter. the baddest thing is cannot return it anymore because its my sisters cellphone, im telling all my friends relatives and people i know not to buy this kind of phone. to LG i will not buy a phone on your company anymore we will not waste money on your phones!

  • Oh,What a Lovely Set,Till Now I am Feeling good to Say that I am using this type of Set Lg P525&I want to Suggest If we want Latest Please Try it Once!

  • After a week of using it hangs up. I brought it to the service center in gensan and since I have not brought with me the receipts I paid 500 pesos. The next day it hangs again so I returned it after a week because I have to travel and I'm free on Saturdays. This time I brought the receipt and let it be fixed for free. The service man said I can get it after 3 days. When I inquired, it was not fixed yet because they have to observe the unit because just the same, after the reformat thing, it hangs again and again. Might be the motherboard. They said the unit cannot be replaced, but the motherboard can be changed. Its been a week going to its 2nd week, yet it was not fixed yet. LG what's wrong?..with the unit and with the service. Calling the attention of LG, please advice Gensan Service to give attention to the repairs more faster. Patience is becoming short.

  • Is it better than T515 Cookie duo?

  • I've owned this phone for several months now and have been looking for a good dual-sim phone with high-end features. Unfortunately, it seems like the major manufacturers will be leaving dual-sim capabilities to feature phones and non-Android devices. There are some relatively cheap mobiles that do offer dual-sim on Android, but my friends who have used them mention that their screens lags substantially and the life expectancy of these brands is usually less than a year. I wrote a previous review on this phone briefly mentioning that it wouldn't turn on at the store, so I was waiting a week for a replacement. I also used to own a Samsung B7722 which was stolen after a few months. So most of my comments will be based on a comparison of my experiences with these two devices. Pros: - Good method of selecting which sim to use. Unlike the B7722, there is no button on the side of the phone which I have to remember to switch sims. Instead, there is a soft slide button that changes color for each sim to send a message or make a call - No memory issues. The B7722 runs out of memory while using applications including their default browser. - Camera seems slightly better which is strange considering that it is 2 megapixels compared to the B7722's 5MP. However, it does lack flash. On another hand, I wouldn't use either except for "emergency" situations. Cons: - Smaller screen. The B7722 has more real-estate to work with so it's better for surfing (when using a different browser) However, a larger screen translates to a shorter battery life. - Cannot add Apps to the menu items or shortcuts. All your Apps go into a "Games & apps" App, then you need to select "Applications" before using your downloads. Also, there are few games or apps that fit this phone's unique screen size - usually end up with cropping. - No multi-tasking. As mentioned before, Both this and the B7722 are just feature phones (compared to smart phones). Conclusion: - If you're looking for a high-end dual sim phone, the LG P525 seems to offer the best usability and reliability even if it may provide less features and functionality compared to Samsung's B7722 or other small brand Android devices.

  • No

  • It seems so many people are having problems with their LG P525, but mine has been working fine.

  • the touch is very bad , i mean really shitty bad

  • My LG-P525 ,just go off, with out any shock please can someboy tell me what do to make it working?if there is any download of program to make it work?

  • I wonder what kind of operating system has the LG P525, if Andriod or anyone like that. Thankfully

  • why i cant use my facebook on sns ? and what will happen if i will upgrade the software :)

  • plz .. how to switch between the dual sims ??? if am in sim1 how to move to sim2 ??

  • how to insert the sim? hahah its funny but yes we dont i dont know how to use iy..!

  • i got his model... but 4 days later it hung up then i change it anoher but same lg p525 six day it hung up again so i did bring to service center they say that this model has a thech prob,,, mainboard and other appz.... it suck.......

  • yes i've experienced the same problems...and also, it lags when browsing the gallery, it takes too long to access the memory card (files) for the first time...and this one's major, sometimes sim 1 sends even if i use sim2 and vice versa (ex. when i text using globe, the one that sends is sun and vice versa)... FOR LG: need assistance on this, asap. TY! :)

  • This is the first time I use LG phone. The reason why I bought this phone is because it's dual sim and also has wifi. And it's touch screen is responsive enough with just pressing not too hard. I got this last 09/07/2011 so far, the problem I experienced about this phone is that it hangs when replying to a message and then another one comes in. Also,I can't find a way to turn off camera's shutter sound, when I try to set security code when device is locked "immediately" the settings will go back to "Never" when I unlock or use the phone. Meaning, I need to set security again to "Immediately" if I wanted to unlock the phone using a security code. I also can't find a way to use other apps that are not listed on the pre defined widgets. One more thing, I can't find any store that are selling jelly / leather case for this phone.

  • Hallo, can you save sms to sd card, thank you

  • i had this phone it works fine but the only problem is i cant find any accessories for this phone like jelly case or anything..it sucks! can anyone tell me where to buy stuff for this phone manila area if possible..tnx!

  • can anyone tell me how to reset or recover this phone. i was trying to update it but then the updating was hanged so i disconnected it as it was instructed but after that i cant do anyhting with the phone. please help

  • Ya i also had similiar problem..i was forced to give it for service..The problem happend to be just 2 months after i brought it...Thank God that the phone contained warranty and i was able to get it repaired free of cost.

  • I think I have the same problem as you had. How much did the motherboard cost? I also had my phone repaired twice since two weeks after buying...thanks

  • I bought this phone two weeks ago. it's features are good but the phone hanged up twice showing LG icon and won't boot, so have to bring to the service center for repair. They suspect it's the board. But how could it be when it's a brand new phone. And the problem is, according to the tech the board is much expensive than the unit.

  • mm . how to make smileys here ?

  • Where can you download apps for this phone? I would like to install skype if possible. Thanks.

  • this phone is very user-friendly... glad to have this kind of phone. :) it is very resistive to touch and 2 sims can be used when texting or calling. Highly recommended...

  • both sim card are active meaning you can make and receive phone calls on either of the SIM same thing for text messages.

  • According to the original specs of this phone, it says it's a dual stand-by dual sim phone. But in actual practice, this is a dual-active dual sim phone. Here's a couple of definitions I found for dual active: 1. Active dual-SIM phones They allow both SIMs to be active simultaneously and allow calls to be received on either number at any given time. - or - 2. In the dual ACTIVE sim cellphone, the user can easily change from sim1 to sim2 in one press of a switch. User can return to sim1 again by just pressing the switch sim key again. Here's how dual-standby is defined: 1. Standby dual-SIM phones: Several types of adapters are available. All of them allow only one SIM to be active, and to receive calls, at any given time; they provide various ways of switching from one SIM to the other: -Earlier versions required the phone to be switched off and on again to change from one to another. -Later models allow the user to switch SIM cards via a menu or by keying in a numeric code, without switching the phone off. - or - 2. in the dual STANDBY sim cellphone, the user has to do the following: a. User presses switch key to change from sim1 to sim2; b. User has to specify that the new default sim is sim2; c. Cellphone will show message that the change in default sim will restart the phone, and asks for a confirmation from the user; d. Once the user confirms, cellphone restarts, and user waits for the cellphone to become ON again; e. Once the cellphone is ON, user can use the cellphone using sim2. The P525 is so easy to use and switching from sim1 to sim2 for making calls or sending text messages is a no-brainer. Also, you don't even having to do anything special when receiving calls or texts. Both sims are active. I just assign different ring and message tones for each sim so I don't get confused which line/number is being called.

  • i don't know if this is the type of dual-active that you mean but I can receive text messages and calls on both SIMs with out using a switch. Now if you want to call and talk with both SIMs at the same time ... that I don't know.

  • I have the exact same problem

  • Hi. . I would like to know if this is a dual active sim or you need to switch the sims for you to be able to use the 2nd sim. Thanks in adnvace

  • cool phones for texting and web browsing..

  • bought it yesterday, a very nice phone

  • I've had this phone for a week now and have fully explored all its functions, at least those I'm most interested in. I'm pleasantly surprised by it's quality. The touch screen is very responsive for a resistive type. Navigating thru its menus is easy and straight-forward. It's feature set are somewhat mediocre compared to, let's say, the Samsung GT-B7722 (which I also own). The Samsung has 3g and quad-band for the 1st SIM, a larger touch screen and has a 5 mega-pixel camera. But it isn't as easy to use as the LG. The resistive touch screen of the Samsung is not very responsive, and can be frustrating at times. The available ram/memory is also lacking in the Samsung. After viewing a few pages on the web using its built-in wifi, the Samsung runs out of memory! And I'm using Opera Mini! I found the LG P525 more useful surfing the web, whether with Opera Mini or it's native internet browser. The LG has wifi as well. It also has SNS and allowed me to log onto to my Facebook with ease. Both units make use of widgets. They're very useful but because of the memory restrictions on the Samsung, I couldn't use them that much. The widgets on the LG, on the other hand, are much more useful because you CAN actually use them without worrying about running out of memory. I'm not too concerned about camera/video performance. But for a unit with a 5 megapixel camera, the quality of the Samsung's pictures are very similar to that of the LG, which only has a 2 megapixel camera. Makes you wonder. When I purchased the Samsung GT-B7722 last year, I thought it would address all my needs for a dual-sim phone, based on the specs and reviews. But in actual practice, the Samsung falls short, very short. The LG is a more polished unit through and through. With OS's ease of use, coupled with the very responsive reflective-type touchscreen, is miles ahead of the Samsung. It may seem as a downgrade to some, but for me, the LG P525 meets and exceeds my expectations for a dual-sim phone.

  • can i store sms in memory card????????pls give mi reply

  • yes, you can switch from "standard view" to "threaded view" in the messaging area. :)

  • Please off your power save.

  • It the message threaded view or conversational. as am looking for dual sim phone with threaded view messages. Thank you . hope to hear updates from you guys who had LG P525 already

  • And to add, the first sim card slot is "QUAD-BAND" not tri-band. It says so on the box and manual.

  • I finally got one as a 2nd phone. No problems so far. Interface is responsive. Build quality is solid. Much better than the plastic Samsung duos.Screen is bright and clear with good viewing angles. The case is fingerprint resistive with matte rubberlike plastic. Feels good in the hand. Cons are no 3.5 jack and can't listen to music/radio while texting. Composing a text message closes the Radio or Music player. Low res screen but still looks okay. It suites my needs as this is just a 2nd phone to compliment my LG Optimus Black (android) which uses the same PC Suite as P525.

  • Ordered this phone last week to replace my Samsung B7722. When it arrived, phone would not turn on/charge. Will wait another week for replacement. Since two other users in older posts have experienced this, I am very worried about quality and reliability.

  • Has Anyone tried a microSD card larger than 4GB on this phone? like 8GB/16GB?

  • THis is a nice phone to use but I had twice the problem of this phone not booting up and it went twice to the service centre and changed the mother board twice..hope this does not happen again and good it was under warranty.

  • just received my P525 but i wont charge. i plug in the cahrger and connect the phone but not image display that tells you that it is charging. somebody help...

  • Does the mail client support mail exchange servers ?

  • it is dual active. while calling in SIM1, if calling to SIM2 happen, you can choice "holding SIM1 call & receive SIM2 call" or "Reject SIM2 call" in the calling screen.

  • I have just one question - is the phone dual standby or dual active? In other words ,while you speak on sim 1 and someone calls you on sim2 what happaens? Thanks

  • can you sream media from youtube with the phone?

  • my brother is sending me this phone from UAE though i haven't receive yet. hope that it will work well with me and no problems occur as what you said here. one thing that makes the phone great if it will last long (battery). all i need for a phone is call and sms.

  • ive allready done that still it shows mem.full when i change my wallpaper

  • yeah did that allready but it still says memmory full, when i check the memmory status there is no installed apps and files on phone memmory except in "others" it uses 9mb space of my phone memmory but i dont know what to delete..i dont know what is in that "others" category that has eaten my phone memmory space..can anyone help me please...

  • No, it's not android phn

  • wen the phone says ur memory full den u av to change ur camera default to memory card and as well make sure u av at least 2m space on ur phone memory. As for me it still a gud for its specs

  • hi im using this phone and everythng works perfectly but one thing is bothering me when i change the wallpaper it says memory full eventhough i have 4gb microSD card and set it as my default memory

  • nope, this is not an android phone. this is just an ordinary phone with dual sim feature, wifi and document viewer. nothing special.

  • i bought my LG P525 one week ago and everything is working well except for one thing. the phone will turn off by itself when you use the music player for a long time.

  • is this android

  • what do you mean by "when opera mini is installed"? thanks

  • i have this kind of phone.. nice phone, easy to navigate..i like the wifi when opera mini is installed.. but lack of style/fashion..

  • hi! to all users of this unit please tell us your feedback i want to have this phone but i need to know first some details of it. What are the pros and cons of this phone....thanks in advance

  • Looks a good fone with wifi and nice features. Specs are basic and dual sim function is great. Camera is just ordinary......

  • in philippines its dual active, is it the same as dual stand by? is it available in uae? hope this phone is good.. even not perfect.. make the price low.. 1st!
