LG Wine Smart - User Reviews

  • Ringtone stopped working post reboot any suggestion? O_O

  • Hello, I just bought this phone and it worked amazing for me but one thing. I can't find the shortcut or button in the keypad (not the screen keyboard) which command "send" if I use WhatsApp or "go" if I want to search for something in the browser. Because I usually press those commands in the screen keyboard. Is there any keypad shortcut or button, OR the command is indeed in the screen keyboard? Thank you.

  • in 2004 you'd be glad to have a 0.3MP REAR camera and no front one at all...

  • lülz 3mp rear camera and 0.3mp front? I smell 2004

  • And then have crappy R/W speeds!? D=

  • put a microsd card in, thats whats it there for

  • I need this to have more storage. ;-; 4 GB is not enough! (something like 16GB of storage would suffice)

  • yes. It's less convenient to type though

  • Can I download and use WhatsApp on this phone ?

  • korean variant has build-in antenna?

  • there's alot in shoppee, there's no official release on LG philippines so you can just but it as second hand into those who import.

  • Do somebody know, how to add otg support to that phone?

  • What's the difference between the korean version (not clone) and the actual handset that you can buy in LG store?

  • Hello! Anyone can tell me where can I buy this phone here in the Philippines? I needed it so badly. I would love to give this as a gift to my grandfather. Thank you to those who will help me. 😊

  • try 00 instead of +

  • still available in the Philippines?

  • I have this cell phone for about 18 months and i am very satisfied

  • How do i make international calls? I try to key in + and the area code but it seems to omete the + everytime.

  • how do i make international calls? i can't seem to put on the + sign.

  • i love it i have that before and its still in my hands right now

  • is da front facing camera of this lg wine smart clear??is it ok to take selfie on the front facing cam or not?

  • Love it!

  • Nice cell phone

  • urrggggg can't wait this handset..

  • When it will arrive in india Waiting anxiously !!

  • I am still waiting for this phone to arrive in the Phillipines

  • Some one else can take a picture. Daaaaaaa!

  • open 24 hrs??

  • Team Willa for the Win

  • the speaker is very weak

  • Yes! I've just been through this frustration myself. Go to "Settings" then "Language & input". Click on the Settings icon next to LG Keyboard and turn Word suggestions off.

  • I just got this phone and I love it. Despite having only 4gb internal memory (2gb available) I have installed Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, eBay, Amazon shopping and Music, Google calendar and Google Keep and BBC Weather. That's all I need out and about. Sure it has restrictions but for a phone like this it's great and I love love love the flip 😁 The trick is when you first get the phone, go to PlayStore and disable automatic app updates. If you let everything update it'll use up all your phone memory. I've also moved a few of the apps to my sd card. Easy. The only problem I'm having is how to turn off and on T9 texting input. It's always on which for the most part is fine but sometimes you need to add a word it doesn't know. So if anybody knows how to turn it off please let me know. Or do I just have to use the tiny on screen touch keyboard?

  • it's cheaper than the others, this is great!

  • No this one doesnt have magnetometer sensor. So digital compass function is not supported.

  • Does this phone have compass sensor and does it support the application?

  • LG wine smart H410, how to put custom ringtones for contacts? If i copy a contact from the sim into the phone this option apears in the contact details but its not working with the touch or the keypad to change from the general ringtone. Pls help.

  • if it only had more internal storage like 16 gigs. the phone is marvelous. and works pretty darn well. but the storage amount is laughable.

  • Does anyone know if it works with Verizon wireless ?

  • "As I am blind, I love the convenience ..." "The only downside is that the camera is not the greatest..." How do you know how is the camera, as long as you are blind????

  • the amount of memory is like a kids toy. I have the 4GB and a 32GB card but nothing loads on the memory card. You can move some programs over but doesn't seem to free up internal memory. It's like a kids first phone

  • Yes it supports Whatspp

  • please ...

  • I really miss these different model of devices! It would be great to have a little bit of variation!

  • Can support whatapps or not?

  • Definitely works with AT&T. You just need the APN that will allow you to use mobile data. I had to get the specifications from tech support, but only took me about five minutes with guidance. A provider will support any phone you get if it is factory unlocked. Folks, if I am wrong on this, please correct me.

  • This is definitely a good phone for a blind person. Keep in mind that blind persons can use touch screen phones as well, and do not need physical buttons. I also know sighted persons who hate touch screens and want physical buttons, so this is not necessarily a blindness issue. However, TalkBack works very well with this phone. There is not a lot of memory for other TTS engines though, unless you can use them from the SD card, moving them to the SD card after installing. I know that TalkBack does not move to the SD card, so am not sure if you can do this with other TTS engines either.

  • Try going into Settings, Sounds, and Sound Effects, and see if you can't find your option in there. Hope this helps.

  • I have been using the LG Wine Smart H410 and absolutely love. You have the best of touch screen and buttons access. As I am blind, I love the convenience of the buttons for dialing, but use the touch screen when buttons are not functioning with certain apps, such as YouTube. I love having the choice of touch screen or buttons. I use TalkBack and BrailleBack, and it hooks up to my braille device seamlessly. However I am not limited to this. You can use the T9-style texting if you turn off BrailleBack, or you can simply use the keyboard on the touch screen. I am an AT&T customer, and the only thing I had to do is to change mhy APN so I could use data, but was able to do that in five minutes with the guidance of tech support. The only downside is that the camera is not the greatest. There is no e-mail program on the phone, but I downloaded Mailwise since I can also get on my work's exchange that way. Even so, one can always use the Gmail account. There is also only 4GB internal storage, but I have moved everything possible to my 32GB SD card, so don't notice the drain. I occasionally clear out the cache in storage just to make sure to have plenty of room. I love texting, getting on FB Messenger, and read Kindle books and get on YouTube all the time. I also use theGoogle maps a lot, and have just installed GoogleNow. Also, if Edge network is running on your screen, it will be going away here in the U.S. in December, but AT&T thinks these phones will simply switch over to one of the other networks. Edge seems tobe prevalent in the area where I live. My husband's phone's network is HSPA, and is already compatible with the newer towers. I failed to mention I bout my H410 new factory unlocked on Ebay. I bought my husbands Wine Smart D486 new unlocked on Ebay. We both love these. I have fancier touch phones I like, but this Wine Smart is right now my phone of choice.

  • Gionee W909 has 2 big displays (same as Samsung W999 or Freetel Musashi or few other), that is from my point of view nonsence for "V" phones..

  • wow interresting . for collector absolutely

  • which is much better, this one or the Gionee W909?

  • What? You've replied to the wrong person, I know that already.

  • if your phone is factory unlocked it will work wit att

  • Hey guys! I would like to know if there are anything I can do against the flip sound? I only want to disable that one. (LG wine smart h410)

  • The 'network technology' states GSM which is the network base AT&T use - Sprint and Verizon use CDMA - so you'll be fine.

  • Finally something useful.

  • How do I know if this phone will work with my AT&T provider. I am worried I will buy a phone from overseas and it not work here in the US.

  • I am told this is a good phone for a blind person. Is this true?

  • Are you enjoying your phone Scallywag? I was on holiday in Malaysia last week and so many people came up to me to ask me about it. There were really curious. Over here where I am, the curiosity of the people around me has waned. Although there are still some who come up to me to ask me about it. :)

  • Greetings, You are relatively near to me. :) It really depends on what you mean by worth. It's absolutely, amazingly worth it to me. May not be for others though. You need to know what you want in a phone, or what you do not want. Only you can decide it's worth to yourself. Hope it helps. :)

  • Hi Sukun, I am so very sorry! I did not get alerts as I wasn't registered. I am now. :) Based on what I managed to find (dig up), there is a very slight difference. F480K (mine): Released: Sep. 2014 Cellular Network: GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS2100 (B1), LTE1800 (B3), LTE2600 (B7), LTE1900 (B2), LTE900 (B8) Cellular Data Links: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, LTE Digital Media Broadcast: T-DMB (only works in SK) Special Features: capacitive touchscreen , built-in digital compass , LTE 150/50Mbps , VoLTE , proximity sensor , light sensor D486: Released: Nov. 2014 Cellular Network: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850 (B5), UMTS1900 (B2), UMTS2100 (B1), LTE1800 (B3), LTE900 (B8), LTE700 (B28) Cellular Data Links: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, LTE, LTE-A Digital Media Broadcast: Not supported Special Features: capacitive touchscreen , built-in digital compass , LTE 150/50Mbps , proximity sensor , light sensor As you can see, it's pretty minute differences. Everything else are the same. By the way, the prices that you see on eBay are RIDICULOUS! Where I am, the price dropped by quite a lot about two weeks after I bought mine. I was pissed... Even wanted to buy another in white... haha. I am still loving it by the way. :D

  • To Anonymous: To turn off T9 input, press and hold # :-)... then, to turn on T9, press and hold # again.

  • please next flip mobile make it with out screen

  • this mobile full opthion but need screen face

  • Hi do you know how to put the T9 off ? LG wine smart H410 Thx

  • You can find an English manual (PDF) on If you want to turn off T9 you first have to set phone to 'phone keybord' going to: Language&input > LG Keyboard>input language and keyboard layout. Then in any input field (e.g in a text message) > tab screen. The onscreen keyboard will appear. Disable T9 with the T9 button. The manual does not describes this setting btw.

  • Hye Zee. Greetings from Johor, Malaysia. I've been searching info about this LG Wine Smart and Im a little bit confused between F480 and D486. Im assuming they're just the same model with different code name for different countries but, I received mixed info about them from inter web on price, GSM , processor, secondary cam etc. Any thoughts or suggestion ?

  • -Got it since a week or so. Finally a clamshell with android. (happy camper I am) In Europe (NL) hard to get, clamshells, meaning not much of a choice. Price: 139 Euros (Marine Blue model) -Android lollipop on a clamshell -Navigation is snappy/fast. -With fully loaded battery it gives a estimated 220 hrs standby time! -On homescreen a shortcut to phone managment (very handy) Also you can add items to managmentmenu. factory default shows shortcuts to : Battery save, apps, storage, Batt usage, settings, clock, google settings, quickmemo. -Between 00:00 and 06:00 it automaticly reduces screen brightness. -Seperate buttons to, close open apps, favorites, contacts, mail, 'home' and camera. -No english manual in package -No support on LG.com (search on H410 or Wine gives no results back at this time feb2016) -No other skins to choose from. -Navigation button has no backlight (all the other buttons do) -auto screen rotation does not work with all apps. -No covers available (yet) -no T9 function in searchbar internet. -Nice phone. Good price. Its a kind of big when open. A smaller PCB layout/format would make it more elegant. But then again the screen will be smaller too. Maybe with this phone size it would be nice, if open there where two positions to choose from. Like 160/70 degrees (fully open) and maybe 120/30 degrees in between open and closed. -Big buttons. On the other hand it makes it very easy to operate. -It has an updatecenter to update software and apps from LG. -It feels like phone, it looks like a phone. Not a camera that does phonecalls or a handsize flatscreen workstation that goes tringeling. If you dont want all the high end bells and whistles it will do the job. But when needed just open de trunk and youĺl have most of the options of a modern smartphone available today. Personally I miss an external screen. Glad LG released a new clamshell on the european market. They made me buy my first LG product. So Samsung where are you?

  • I.... actually want this. This looks interesting. It's been a long time since I use a flip phone. I think it looks cool. Can anybody tell me if it's worth the money, though? Since at my country (Malaysia) I can get Asus Zenfone 2 or Sony Xperia M4 for the same price.

  • The F480 Wine Smart uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926. The 8mp has flash.

  • Yes to Hangout and Skype. Can't say for IMO as I don't use it.

  • I am using the LG Wine Smart F480 GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, LTE GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS2100 (B1), LTE1800 (B3), LTE2600 (B7), LTE1900 (B2), LTE900 (B8) It comes with two batteries, which together lasts me a week. The only notification on the outside is a tiny, unobtrusive LED.

  • The default is Korean, very easily changed to English. I'm not a Korean and I managed to change it in a few minutes out of the box.

  • If you have already selected the languages, on the touch keypad itself, touch ATX (second from top, right-most). You can touch that to turn predictive text on and off.

  • It should not be. I am using the F480, the one with 8mp. It only costs about USD250. Cheaper when buying in bulk. I started ordering in bulk because too many family, friends, colleagues have been asking me to buy it for them.

  • What do you mean by lowest way?

  • If I could upload a screenshot, you will see there is Arabic.

  • To be clearer, I use both the keypad and the touch keypad, depending on what I am using it for. I use touch (with predictive text) for WhatsApp. I use the keypad for sms' as I type way shorter.

  • If I could upload a video here, I would. I am using it with predictive text.

  • Hey, but you are not able to type just by using the keypad can you? I'm using it like a old phone with no predictive text... :(

  • No Arabic In This Phone

  • The mobile phone pictured here is not the Wine Smart (F480), rather it's the LG Gentle (F580). I have been using the F480K for 2 months now and I absolutely love it. I had it imported to Singapore and it was no problem changing the default from Korean to English. It's what I have been wanting for a very long time now, going almost back to when mobile phones were uncomplicated. Each battery lasts for 3 days on average, it comes with TWO batteries, and an external battery charger. I can charge both batteries at the same time, and together they last me one week. I have push mail, WhatsApp, WeChat and some other local apps. I occasionally watch some videos on the YouTube app and also use Google maps when needed. It has both a front and back camera, which is more than sufficient for my usage. I tether my data for others to use since I rarely use up 12GB monthly allocation. It's rugged and the outer does not scratch easily, there is no need for cases or covers or wraps. If it sounds like I'm gushing, it's because I am. So many people have asked me about my phone and the younger generation look at me even more incredulously when I switch between keys tactile and the touchscreen. A few of my friends have asked me to purchase it for them, which I have. I brought it with me on my trip to the UK and my aunt there is asking me to get one for her too. I had bought a flip Lenovo mobile phone at the same time and I am selling that away as even my mum doesn't want it and wants my Wine Smart instead.

  • Imported one from Korea, and yes, arabic is in it.

  • Can you write me how to change the sistem T9 in the lowest way to write sms ? THANK YOU !

  • For Wine users. Pls can u confirm if Arabic already exists in phone?

  • is it available in malaysia store?

  • usa release

  • LG please bring this to egypt with app moved to sd card or evenmake the sd primary storage .

  • LG thank you. I expected this phone for a long time

  • It's from a grey market.

  • If it had a better camera....not a camera from the past decade it would be the best phone for people that want an old style phone with the benefits of new technologies!!!

  • I think you're referring to the higher version of this phone, the one with 8mp camera, this phone only has 3.5mp.

  • Why is this unit so expensive in the philippines?? Its 23,000 pesos! About 500 US dollars???

  • AnyONE know, if we can make hangout/IMO/SKYPe calls from this flip device..

  • yes it will

  • Hello, I want a phone just to make calls and use whatsapp, nothing else. Will this phone fullfil my needs? Thank you :)

  • Local European prices start upwards of 200€!

  • Where can one buy the English version?

  • Why don't you (gsmarena) have the LG Wine D486 in your database. It is the best Android clamshell available in the market.

  • waste phone... hangs so much...

  • like the flip androids. Finally a flip android for the older folks that find the touch phone difficult to manuever

  • Check it on LAZADA.ph but its the Korean version

  • I would like to know when/where we can purchase,

  • Finally (!!!) a phone to replace my 7 years old Nokia E66 which started to slowly fall apart. Lot of details about the phone is missing (LTE bands?, battery life?) but it has modern OS *and* keyboard, what nobody offers these days. Only thing I'm missing is small outside display for clock and notifications. (and I won't have to worry about display scratches)

  • The Alcatel has no Android SO so they are not similar

  • too heavy and too thick (deep) .Better this one :

  • I'll this phone for my mum.

  • Seems like a cool phone to have if it's priced correctly. And you can't really compare it to the Galaxy Folder. The Lg will probably be much cheaper.

  • 1700mah for this phone is really great.

  • is the phone gonna be available in Asia/Philippines?

  • anyway 3mp camera, then why don't you fuse the battery too.

  • Liked the rugged style, wish it had Nokia N93i style in a more sleeker and functioning manner. It is a minimum requirement for a phone to have a 5mp cam with flash.

  • Use a good Mediatek chipset like MT6735 to bring down the cost, it doesn't heat up for lower screen size. I would have loved it if the screen size was 4 inches and it had 5mp cam with led flash with the old nokia flip and turn function, that is very present in newer sleek forms in lenovo yoga laptops.

  • Looks like a great device, except for one thing - what's the point with having Android with such a lousy resolution? Come on LG, 320x480 pixels - are you serious? Could've been a nice option as a second phone or a parent's phone... IF it were 800x480 (at least!). IP68 could've also been nice.

  • Not to mention the insult of 3MP cam!

  • I don't mind buying this for my mom. She would love this, and finally be able to Skype

  • How much this one???? older Wine Smart was $360.00 crazeee!!

  • I would like this what countries??? Miss Tactile keys

  • I wants this mobile phone when the model release in India...

  • 16,6 cm ....thick as a brick

  • I am ready to buy this once it hits the US, I like the design a lot but a Razr-like design like in 2007 would be nice too haha

  • I appreciate the job is done by LG. Hopefully price should not be high under 100$ acceptable for us. soon available in Malaysia. Good smart phone for biker's.

  • While I like the idea of a clamshell style smart phone, this isn't what I'm looking for. I can live with the small screen, but the processor will be sluggish, 4GB storage is too little, and the camera isn't even close to what I expect of a phone these days. I wish they would make a real attempt at a flagship quality flip phone, I'd be all over that.

  • A perfect phone for the elderly/disabled , even I like it as I miss fiddling with my flip phone. I just wish it had a second screen though.

  • look at the price tag of samsung then suggest it

  • LG likes to make petite phone that looks cute. You can see LG Ice Cream Smart and LG Aka, their best character concept smartphone and flip phone.

  • Its not good cell see samsung cell gelexy folder

  • I need this phone now but in dual sims. I have been waiting for this type of phone since two year.

  • I want this phone. When the phone release in Bangladesh.

  • Classic Design Never Goes Out of Style

  • When will this be available in the philippines?

  • I need this phone now but in dual sims. I was waiting for this type of phone since two year.

  • That's what I've been waiting for. Well-done LG! Can't wait!!!

  • the memories of old days, good one

  • interesting phone...it combined with old school phone with the latest function of phones...
