Meizu 16s - User Reviews

  • Bruh you've traveled through time or something because that ain't how it works.

  • How could be? It was launch at april this year...???

  • The phone was launched on April this year....

  • Beautiful Flyme ui and great phone. I have been using 16s for a year.

  • Impressive design... without notch, punch hole and any other intrusive design. With 87% screen to body ratio ...wow. S10 have 88% screen to body ratio but have punch hole notch.

  • I honk people have managed to unlock this phone’s bootloader, so if you’re into stuff like that, you can install a custom rom!

  • without notch and awesome model

  • Not sure about the Flyme OS and other aspects of the phone, but hot damn the design of the front is beautiful, if only more phones adapted this design instead of all these notches and pop-up cams.

  • S10e? I disliked its display calibration very much in comparison to the 16th.

  • Horrible device. Meizu Flyme OS is extremely limited and doesn't allow any kind of modifications, not even changing permissions - it literally resembles Apple iOS. A true device made for sheeple. Pretty much every other Android device I had or tested had much more options to change permissions and to some extent modify the OS, but not Meizu. This phone also doesn't have 3.5 mm jack. This is literally the worst device I've ever had and the last time I bought Meizu, mostly thanks to extremely limited Meizu Flyme OS. Meizu should install stock Android OS or Xiaomi MIUI if possible rather than their limited and spying Flyme OS.

  • Agreed, this phone got worse to its predecessor

  • Would buy this phone, but the lack of a 3.5mm jack and an sd card expansion is holding me back and waiting for something never and better.

  • It is most likely to launch on 25th August, around Rs 35k in Amazon or Flipkart

  • It is most likely to launch on 25th August, around ₹35k in Amazon or Flipkart

  • Yes absolutely, it's best form factor, optimal weight 165 gm, no notch fundas..sleek design and very good specs

  • this device deserves much more attention. nice specs at nice price. ip68 missing though :/

  • Will Meizu launch it in India? If so, by which date?

  • If it has gorilla glass and waterproof it is much more better.

  • What is a side beheld?

  • It's 3600 mAh though...

  • I think this is a fantastic phone.Good camera, speakers, great to handle,no notch or cutout and fast performance with good battery life.I have all phones and makes and models over last few years and honestly find this the all around best of the lot

  • competitor?

  • Not just the pathetic 3000mAh-ish battery that kills battery life, the SD855 processor and Bluetooth earpiece as well will add to the power consumption. Epic fail.

  • Not only France. In Australia B28 is main (rural) frequency either.

  • When will the global version be available?

  • Currently owning the 16th which is still the best looking smartphone at the moment but it has a big drawback, the software updates as the OS is full of bugs (talking about the global version) The 16s is a step back in my opinion, the front deign is still very good but they ruined the back by moving the camera module to the top left corner where every other phone has them. Why would you give up a perfectly balanced design for something that already exists and look bad. Also removing the headphone jack is a big mistake, this was one of the main reason I bought the 16th. Increasing size of the device is also not a good idea, I know it is still the smallest 6+ inch phone but there are too many phones out there that are same or even better than this one so it offers nothing more than already on the market. People by these big phones because nothing else available with flagship internals and if there is a + version why would you have 2 similar sized phone? My next phone will be the Samsung S10e, good by Meizu!

  • Only square design can be applied with square screen. For example XPERIA design. For bezel, iPhone X series also have different size of bezel at top, side, and the bottom. Check Google.

  • ...side beheld should be narrow. No notch and no pop-up camera preferred

  • Design is good. I request you a small correction..the screen corners should be 90° and top and bottom beheld should equal. Phone should not heat and battery life should be great.

  • Very nice aesthetic. Thin and symmetrical edges, without notch or pop-up camera. It's rare.

  • Im 170cm tall and using vivo v15 with 6. 53 inch screen.. One hand operation is not great but still good and feel comfortable..

  • Still no B28 LTE band for France

  • No SD card, no radio, no 3.5 jack, small battery, very bad global rom support, never buy Meizu again. Another bad phone without important for me 3.5 jack.

  • what are you doing with a phone, if 128 or 256 GB is not enough?

  • No card slot.Aweful

  • Good phone but don't have micro-SD slot

  • I have Meizu Pro 7 Global Stable and it came with Android 7.0 in 2017. Now, after 5 updates, the latest Global Stable firmware (2019-4-10) it's also based on Android 7.0. So, in two years, they didn't upgrade Android version. Only their custom Android got updated from Flyme 6 to Flyme 7. And the things are the same for China Stable (and China Beta) versions, they are still based on Android 7.0. It's a shame, in my opinion. I guess this model was destined to be buried with Android 7.0. Their higher model, Pro 7 Plus, received the same treatment.

  • Hey Samsung look at that Tiny camera.

  • No screen protection :(

  • There's no headphone jack

  • Yes helping smaller company which has intention to make interesting device is good for competition and help them to grow bigger. If they go bigger, they can hire more people to develop Android update faster.

  • People complaint about 3010 mAh battery and no NFC on 16th. Now Meizu remove 3.5mm jack to make more space for battery and NFC but not making it too thick (for style).

  • I have meizu m6 note and though it is good phone for the price there is no chance to get higher version of android. Only three flyme updates in one year of usage

  • That's not "only". Phone looks nice, but it's too big. It can't be operated with one hand. I'm 186 cm tall, which is taller than 95% of people worldwide, and have larger hands than the average person but still can't use such big phones with one hand. They even removed 3.5 mm jack which is a bad thing. The most compact flagship for now is Samsung Galaxy S10e. Sony Xperia 1 and Huawei P30 are both smaller than Meizu 16s, but still too big compared to a normal-sized phone like S10e.

  • It is one of the best buys out there IMO. It checks all the right marks for me. Shame about the lack of updates, but hey lets hope it will change in the future. I'll buy one as soon as the global version comes out.

  • Anyone who's owned a Meizu device, what is Meizu like in terms of software updates and supports. Is Meizu another Umidigi and Oppo meaning you'll buy the phone and then you'll probably receive 1 OTA update that fixes minor software issues or will you receive monthly security updates with potential of getting updated to Android Q when it comes out

  • From Gizmochina April 23, 2019. The primary sensor is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and 4-axis OIS. It also works better with wet hands and supports AliPay, WeChat Pay, and Google Pay. The Meizu 16s has NFC with payment support.

  • Looks like they nailed it. Definite winnner as long as the software isn't trash.

  • Yes.

  • Will i have update at least for android 10?

  • Does the NFC supports Google pay? And does the camera have OIS?

  • Meizu has better taste in terms of front design.

  • MY DREAM PHONE!!!! No major drawback whatsoever except for no MicroSD slot support. And the best thing is its dimensions.......more or less similar footprint to my Meizu M6S!! I've been using a steering-fit phone holder in my car for many years for navigation, but it only supports up to a maximum of 15.3 cm in height. Too bad most of the mid-range phones in the market now are much larger. But this Meizu M16s is only 15.2cm!! :)

  • The jack has gone. Almost perfect sans the ditching of the jack.

  • This is the most compact flagship in 2019. It is only 151.9mm tall and 73.4mm wide.

  • made good use of the top area of the phone this phone makes the notch design look useless and fansy

  • According to current available info, this phone isn't as good as its predecessor Meizu 16th. This one is even bigger, which is a very bad thing, and there's no way to operate it with one hand (its predecessor Meizu 16th is so wide that it can't be operated with one hand, but still somehow slimmer than 99% of 75+ mm wide tablets marketed and sold as "smartphones"). It appears that it doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack either, so that's a huge minus. Estimated price tag of 420 € is too much for an oversized phone without 3.5mm jack.

  • Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Screen: 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display (91.53% screen-to-body ratio) Resolution: 2,232 x 1,080 resolution Dimensions: 151.9 x 73.4 x 7.6 mm Weight: 165g Primary Camera features a 48MP Sony IMX586 F/1.7 aperture and the 4-axis OIS Secondary Camera: IMX350 20MP F/2.6 Front Camera: 20MP F/2.2 HDR+ Colours: Pearl White, Carbon Black, and Phantom Blue Ram/Storage version: 6+128G, 8+128G and 8+256G With USB-C, NFC, dual-SIM support, dual-frequency GPS Whout No 3.5mm jack Battery: 3600mAh with mCharge 24W fast charging

  • its the snapdragon 855

  • That was the first name that appeared in benchmarks for the Snapdragon 855 before it was officially released.

  • There's no 3.5mm audio jack

  • Snapdragon 8150??

  • Top left of the screen small circle one. Pretty nice hiding though.

  • exactly! 5.5" water-drop/punch-hole display would be perfect!

  • If this phone would have a screen smaller than 5.8 it would be perfect. Did had my hands on a Galaxy S10e today but it is just to big for me :/ Why are all phones these days phablets? It is such a shame.

  • Where is the selfie camera? Is it a slider?

  • I can live with this camera/notch Samsung ones are so damm fkn big

  • The perfect phone doesn't exi...

  • no it's not, 8150 is also known as 855.

  • shoot! SNAPDRAGON 8150 guys! hahaha. I think it's a typo.

  • Nah mate, be excited for what you want not the most popular ones. plus this phone looks quite promising with what I'd call a bezel-less design, headphone jack, AMOLED display, no notch, very small camera cutout, and a in-display fingerprint scanner. Plus it's kind of fun to see what small companies come up to be better than the big brands IMO.

  • no it stands for electronic image stabilization

  • EIS stand fo Extended Image Stabeliser

  • They actually said that they were going to put wireless charging, NFC, AND a microSD card slot.

  • It is a rumor. Of course it will be launching with android pie.

  • Is it wrong to say I'm more exited over this than the S10?

  • Love Meizu OS and gesture. Hope the Dimension just like iphoneX or galaxy S8. It's slim and comfortable to hold on one hand and put in jean's pocket.

  • I will probably buy this if they are really going to release this phone., This is the Phone that I want, the design its perfect, the specs, and no natch or whatever. and Hopping for the battery is 4000 -5000 mAH. But i think I feel a little disappointed that there is no external memory slot. because for me, its so important to have memory card slot, because is for backing up your files. like the OS version of lollipop you can just transfer the Application together with the DATA/OBB, if its to much big file. and you can run softly.

  • maybe it is sdm855

  • Snapdragon 8150???? That must be one helluva chipset

  • Would've been a little better if they made the corners a bit more square or put it in the corner, but this ain't bad either. Get to the US Meizu!

  • no such thing as love or want or not

  • I love the design. I really want this one

  • Maybe because this phone doesn’t exist yet?

  • Best look smartphone ever

  • BTW it does not have under-display camera: the camera is tiny and sits in the upper left corner next to the notification icons.

  • I don't know why such amazing phone is underrated. This phones deserves more popularity.

  • Good phone but still use Android Oreo..

  • how about stereo repro and NFC? finally will be there???

  • Add NFC and wireless charging to it. Also make it edge screen

  • WooooOWWWW.....this is surprise....SD855 w/ camera under display.... it's make other phone is look ridiculous .... waiting for the price....????

  • this phone hasn't even come out we don't know its video capabilities yet so it definitely could

  • read the 'effin disclaimer!

  • look's amazing withouth shitty noch

  • This is super amazing.

  • no 4k 60fps video, very disappointing

  • It's new and interesting, but I still think the Nubia does it right: only screen area on the front, and a small view-finder on the back.

  • Meizu, pleeease finally add NFC to Flagship!!! Otherwise will again avoid also that model!
