I'm definitely holding it because of the camera. It's still a serious fighter today, even among the newer Android or iOS phones. As for apps, there are a bunch of third-party apps on MS Store, some are even better than the official ones. But at the end of the day, it's all down to your personal decision.

I've owned several Windows phones, both NOKIA and of course Microsoft. The 950 is the best of the bunch so far, very powerful, full featured. Why pay hundreds more for an iPhone when the 950 has equal or better hardware. My only complaint, would be battery life, but then maybe purchasing an after market battery would take care of that problem. I'm glad that the 950 has wireless charging.

Tried two of Lumias 950 this year. Battery doesn't hold well. Screen is weak and tough to see in sunlight. On the other side the phone is comfortable, continuum works fast, and it's charging fast enough. The camera is superior. Have to carry a charger/spare battery even for normal use.

i bought this phone last year with lot of expectations, but all failed due to over heating issue. even in camera usage can't use more than 10 minutes due to heating. i used to charge 3 or 4 times if i am Online. if not Online, battery is enough for a day. this is the one and major setback. i recommend people not to buy this.

Let me enlist the reasons: Better processor, Snapdragon 820 on Alcatel Idol 4S Windows is way better than Snapdragon 808 on Lumia 950. More RAM, 4 GB RAM on Alcatel. More storage, 64 GB storage on Alcatel. No overheating issues. Dual front facing and dual rear facing stereo speakers. The screen resolution may be lower than 950 but 1920 X 1080 is quite good resolution and puts less strain on battery, the screen resolution of 950 is complete overkill. Better build quality, glass and metal construction. Slimmer design, easier to carry and feels better in hand. Camera may not be a Carl-Zeiss optics camera but it isn't bad either. Costs just $275, which makes it cheaper than Lumia 950.

Alok, the screen blacking out was a bug on Win10 Mobile, which is partially fixed now. It still causes problems if your brightness is set to auto adjust. Disable the brightness auto adjustment and manually change the brightness if required. See if your problem goes away.

That screen resolution is just overkill and has detrimental impact on battery life. I can live without the Carl Zeiss optics equipped camera and NFC. All the feature I need are available on Alcatel Idol 4S Windows, it has a way better and way more stable processor, it has better RAM management and twice the storage of this phone, it's design is beautiful. The most important thing is that it has features equivalent of HP Elite x3 at a price lesser than Lumia 950, I bought the factory unlocked Alcatel Idol 4S Windows from Amazon at just $275. And just because it uses glass body doesn't mean that it isn't durable.

It just not working. I'm ok with windows environment instead of Android, but the phone is not functioning properly. It's not ringing when you get a message on viber, WhatsApp, or facebook messenger, it is stop functioning frequently and needs restart, and many other similar problems.

Sheesh, yet another Alcatel Idol 4S Windows fan boy. You guys are really like the Samsung and OnePlus fan boys of Windows 10 Mobile world. Your Alcatel may have better processor, RAM and storage but does it have a Carl Zeiss Camera, 1440 x 2560 resolution screen and NFC, I don't think so. Both of my SIM's are with AT&T who shut down all 2G networks, so no phone service on that SIM. This is absurd. Hopefully it is just a firmware fix, as the HP Elite x3 came out with a firmware fix last week to fix their phone for the same issue. Knowing how slow MSFT is with updating anything for Lumia I doubt it will be any time soon. I get a lot of texts from the second line, so having just call forwarding on isn't going to fix it, and was the whole point of me getting a dual sim phone.

I have this phone 5 months already & I'm very happy with it. It's my 4th Lumia, I leaved Android 3 years ago and I hope never return. Lumia 950 has a spectacular display, one of the best cameras ever on the smartphones, the 2 processors and the 3gb of ram are doing an excellent job, etc... If you buy a Mozo back cover it will look fantastic.

I liked the phone until I came to know that it has 2 antennas 1 antenna is 4G / LTE the other is 2G only recently the SIM 2 network turned 2G services off now SIM 2 must be the data sim or no phone calls period on SIM 2 network that means SIM 1 is now 2G only I was not too happy with only being able to use 1 of the 2 SIMs for data and having to switch back and forth for SMS with attached files now I am VERY unhappy with this phone

Love the 950 dual sim, responsive, amazing camera, quite robust and the way you can format the dual sim for calls and messages is so much better than the android way, so much better! I am on my second one, as camera had fault on first, however, this one will not allow me to copy music from my Mac to the phone. Previous one did. Can copy contacts and photos, but not music. Using Windows phone app for Mac, same as before. Any ideas before I send it back? Thanks.

its just that you are really using this phone or you do not know how to use/ update the OS. i am using LUMIA 435 updated to Build 10.0.14393.448 and its very fluid OS, never experienced lag or freeze in such a low end device, unlike android which always slow down as use longer. windows os for phone is the really the OS for a smartphone. only, people are taken and sold by advertisement, not really knowing what smartphone really is...

Windows 10 based Lumia 950 is worst phone and microsoft should stop manufacturing. during last 1 year, i have got several updates but problem is still same. screen black out during call or after removing from ear. microsoft forcibly says it is due to screen guard or dust. but it happens with me where as i am not using screen guard and after every call i wipe and clean screen. there is definitely hardware or software problem.during last 8 month the price has been slashed from 42000 to 30000. see the response.

@ A740G & Mil - Thank you. After using the Windows Device Recovery Tool and updating to the latest system build - everything is fine. Absolutely no heating and battery drain anymore. I really tried numerous times vis mobile data (4G) and WiFi - but these two options didn't work to update - Apparently the entire update required was 2.6 GB. After physicaly connecting it to a computer and installing the latest build - its been great.

I'm using a dual sim Microsoft Lumia 950. Since the day I bought this phone, I've been unable to update it. When I click on phone update all I get is a message saying "Checking for updates" ..... Then after about 45 minutes of "searching" for updates it says unable to download updates... This phone is constantly overheating even when absolutely no apps are running in the background... And the battery life is abysmal to say the least... A 3000 mAh battery cannot provide more than 3 or 4 hours use - In fact the battery gets drained fast even when on standby mode... ?????!!!!!!! Useless phone... Never again Microsoft....!

I bought this phone in April and I have been using it very sparingly since I have a Lumia 640XL LTE which works very well and has a good battery life. But this Lumia 950 is the greatest let down in the phones I have ever bought since the year 2000 when I bought Ericsson T28. It overheats, hangs and is very slow. I have reset it to factory settings twice including one by the dealers themselves but nothing doing. Currently its returned to the dealers. I am considering buying something else as I wait. probably a Lenovo.

Had the phone for around 3 months now. Haven't had any overheating issues, it's a good start to continuum...i just notice bit of slow down when using edge on a monitor as opposed to just the phone. Rest of the apps that are continuum compatible run good. The retina scanner is quick and much more secure than a touch ID. The mozo backs are a nice touch allowing you to change the whole style of your phone without having to add a case. App catalogue can be sparse depending on what your looking for, but a lot of the major items are there to use.

I see a lot of people who have this preconceived notion that Windows Phones lack good apps, seriously they should try the new Windows 10 powered phones, because not only the number of apps have increased, the quality of apps is better than its Android powered competitors. Office Lens works much better on Windows Phones than Android (On Android it just keeps on crashing randomly), and its closest competitor on Android named ScanWritr is a paid app and isn't as refined as Office Lens. Apps like BookViser aren't even available for Android, and I've tried loading and synchronising my own eBooks via both BookViser and Google Play Books, while BookViser does it in a nice, fast and smooth way (as good as iBooks on Apple iOS and Mac), the sync and loading failed multiple number of times on Play Books. Same is true for open source emulators like ScummVM, on Android not only the UI of ScummVM isn't properly implemented, the controls are slow and buggy too. While on the Windows 10 phone edition of ScummVM the interface and controls are better optimised for touch inputs and the response is snappy and fluid (Then of course one can't blame the Android developers for it as the Android port was written from scratch while the Windows Phone edition is derived from Windows CE version). If your PC runs on Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 then you would be amazed by the level of synchronisation between Windows 10 powered phones and your PC. Groove Music, Films and TV, Microsoft Office files, Photos, OneNote notes on your phone synchronise extremely well with their PC counterparts. If one goes tries to judge by sheer number of apps then Android got upper hand but as far as the quality of apps are considered Windows 10 powered phones are better.

USB type c reversible is new type of USB port from gen 3.1. it is more like iphone port. You can plug it how you want (see article on wikipedia or on google pictures). same time data, picture and charging on both ways. For ex. if you connect your phone to TV (both devices must have type C) you can watch something on tv and your phone is charging. First of all, I dont care about viruses, cleaning memory from junk, much better battery life on both Lumias and most important apps must be tested from Microsoft. First you need to learn to accept new things, learn them and only than you can comment them. Try to install more than 16GB of apps in Android phone and than in windows phone. You will notice difference. I tried on lumia 920 but 32GB of apps, 5days I was pressing install, open and than uninstall, worked like charm with full memory. After 4 1/2 years still works great. Im working in electronic shop and we sell phones as well, on around 100 android phones wich are comming back for repair comes just one lumia. We dont sell iPhones but my friend have repair shop for mobiles and halfe of them are iphones. To all of you, as Geo 46 said, dont use WP as android and dont compare apps. For exam. Viber on Android have many stupid things inside, WP only basics, to send text, to call, to send pictures, things for grown-ups. Windows Phones are working phones for adults not for kids to play

Watchout ...! You wont be able to use it in Verizon. I read an article online, Microsoft and Verizon have some issues and microosoft didnt open the band to work in Verizon. I actually had to return my Lumia 950 Dual to the Microsoft store (online) after 2 weeks of trying and trying and calling and calling again, waiting 24 Hrs and 48Hrs more and 8 days and ....., what a waste of time (no one knew anything about it). @Himanshun -- There is a definite difference in the stock WP 10 installed on a 950/950 XL as compared to a Windows Insider build of Windows 10 Mobile. If you have the ability to, and are willing you could reload windows with an Insider build, which is essentially an updated version of W10 for mobile in testing. This may help solve some of the issues you are seeing if they are OS dependent. If the issues are unrelated or Firmware dependent, then you need to wait for the updates to push OTA. Worth a try if you need to...

I personally know lot of developers they stopped working on Windows 10 because they din't get any backup from Microsoft in which ever and what so ever way. They are were approached by Blackberry and iOS and they are getting good support from both the brands and they've been successfully building apps for them. Not sure,once you have Microsoft Account all your contacts at seamlessly synced across the cloud,so if you ever change phones,just sign in with same Microsoft account and get back all text messages,contacts & a Microsoft account doesn't mean you have to have outlook or hotmail account ,it can be from any email provider

USB Type-c is an new connector which you can connect to monitor, TV, mouse/keyboard as well as hard drive/USB drive. And Lumia 950 has the function of Continuum, which by connect it to your monitor or TV and mouse/keyboard, you can turn it into a PC like experience. So had this phone for a week now, and during the holiday, just love the smoothness of the OS compared to Android, plus Continuum could be really use full. With continuum, I can calling with some one, casting video to TV, and replying email on my monitor all at the same time, and just phenomenon, almost like using a PC, which is what Microsoft promised. I know the OS and firmware still have lots of issues now, but looking forward. As lots argue about App gap , I didn't feel too much on that, 1, since Nov, tons of new app or app updates to windows 10 UWP, which means same app for both windows 10 pc and mobile phone (and eventually Xbox too), 2, as personally didn't find any app I use regularly missing, either thru official or third party. 3. Three years ago, there are huge gap on Android too, and still some compared to iOS, or vice versa. So if there is no app, just don't use, I won't die without it. Of course I am not saying it might fit everyone's need, just some use PC and some use Mac. But I just need to point out don't lock yourself into a jail of limited choice but open to anything.

Dude u can sync all ur contacts with ur Microsoft account... Wen were u change the device u can sync ur account with the new phones people hub.. Its easy.. U don't need to backup it in ur sd..

I like windows 10 mobile now. Its beautifull compare to WP8.1 transparency tiles and picture background. No need antivirus that slow phone and eats battery. Outlook email is good, People App integrates with social apps. Skype and messaging combine. Office apps arent free needs subscription payments. What is USB TYPE C in this phone. Can i connect hard drive, mouse, keyboard, etc?

Dear Prit, user interface of every OS is different than others, I was also android user before but now i dont think i will revert to android again. as a user for year , i feel its more simple and easy to use as compared to android,. Secondly, you are still not familiar with this OS, you can backup all your apps same as in android. Hello friends, I am new user of Microsoft (Windows) phone. I feel irritating with using this phone. I have used this phone since 3 months. I am going to tell you a true opinion regarding Windows phone. And I know that only android user can understand my pain. So I am starting with app. There are shortage of apps in Windows store. You can't find useful app as in Play store (Android store). Always email update is required. WhatsApp is not like real WhatsApp as in android. Its appearance is so odd. Android user can see the differences of WhatsApp. If you want to do new in this phone it means you have to learn a lot and practice much. This phone is not user friendly as like android phones. You can't keep backup of apps as in android it's very common feature. Hindi input keyboard is complicated. Appearance of many apps is not good such as emails if you add more than two gmails you can't identify the address of email. You have to remember like email 1, email 2,email 3. Battery backup is same as android phone. Some users say that battery backup is good but it's not true. There are a lot of cons of this phone. I really suggest you don't buy windows phone ever. Only some features like offline map, compass is good. Its lock screen, tiles and call screen are good. Camera is quite good. If anybody is saying that Windows phone is good, it means he or she doesn't use Android phone. That's why he or she doesn't know the real drawbacks of Windows phone. My best wishes is with you. Think it properly and then buy smartphone.

i m comparing the price based on their Soc's snapdragon 808 vs snapdragon 810 ! even if we compare with same Soc's for example to dual sim device out there from LG G4 with great camera with same specs.. still it is more expensive (950 dual sim).

Dude Frist of all pls dont use windows phone as a android phone. I mean for example.. Many complained that mx player in windows phones is not good compared to mx player in android.. I never used mx player. Instead i use moliplayer and video x player.. They both can play mkv n flv and subtitles.. No prblm.. Like wise shareit app is more smooth in windows than xender for windows. If u know wat app u need to use then windows platform is better than android.. And windows phone apps doesn't use more ram n battery like androids....

Dont want to bag Microsoft over the placement of the speaker but the 920 speaker placement was fantastic and 2 sets of grills for stereo HOWEVER if this is the extent of the compromise in getting this fantastic fully featured phone I most certainly wont complain! Thank you Microsoft for this class leading phone and great OS ecosystem. Android and Apple are hidebound with nowhere to go whereas MS are giving a complete mobile computer with full cross platform to desktop.....sucks to be behind the times with lagroid and fruitjuice.
