Great phone if you take the time to learn it The phone feels great. Ergonomically, feels great in the hands for txt,email, etc. AND YES YOU CAN SAVE CONTACTS ON RECENT CALL LISTS. Simply hold down on the number that you called & presto, menu comes up for you to save onto contact list. Also, moves much faster than mytouch IMO. Overall, Great job Moto. A few quirks can be taken care of but great stab at a new andriod device. I love it & will no longer sport the mytouch.

agree woth kenneth, i'm really a fond of having UIQ phones in my pocket and this phone is a bit on par with P990 if released. the 2mp camera, touchscreen, GPS and the form factor were it's keys to it's succession. but motorola refused to manufacture it. Motorola must realized that having repeated Razrs, Krzrs, Slvrs and Rizrs weren't help in making their good name in the mobile industry. moto must also do good in features and performance. now moto hs lost it's respect from the hard-core users and is beaten by SE as a smartphone maker. moto can do better if they wanted, but if not. years will passed and moto will be awfully outdated by the other giants. Motorola please realize what the people says here!

I guess Motorola Engineers and designers are getting all these opinions. You have the best of the phones in the world but for sure you need to have some continuity and consistency in what you do. This phone together with A100 are some of the best phones that you produced, but its quite unfortunate that it was for a very short time. This phone works well but is very delicate, the LCD screen smashed whilst i was travelling home on a crowded train. Motorola should make something more durable than the 7 months I have paid and used for this phone and now will have to pay around $300 to fix the LCD screen.

It is interesting that they are advertising this phone in a major mobile magazine in my country (as of 02-2006 issue). It is a combined ad with a new GPS map provider company (NAVTURK). The ad explicitly states this phone, a1010 and its agps functionality. Maybe it is cancelled only regionally?

Motorola has been doing the cancelling ever since MPX. who konws which will be the next one. Motorola used to be an excellent phone maker during the 1990s, but lately, not knowing why, it keeps us waiting for a very very long time and then, cancalled it's products. From now on, I will never trust motorola and turn to Nokia. It really makes me disappointed.

Deep, you are wrong a bit. At least A925 AGPS is just for SPEED UP the process of getting initial fix. It means you get ready much faster with AGPS network support. If network operator do not support AGPS, then the mobile make calculations by himself, but it is slower and sometimes it takes minute or two, or even half hour to be ready. Normal GPS receivers are ready much faster. >Soma asked the difference between a1010's gps and the traditional ones: a1010 has so-called AGPS (Assisted GPS) which send the data to a server which calculates the coordinates and give them back to the phone. So it needs cellular network to work. Tranditional GPSes do these calculations alone.

Actually the main difference between the A1000 and the A1010 is the addition of WiFi. Some instant messenger software is supposed to be included however which service/protocol will be used is still unknown. VoIP support has been hinted, possibly using Skype.

I'm waiting for it to be released. So far, I've used Motorola phones for 13 yrs, I've never had any complaints. Motorola gives me what I wanted and it works just fine! I'm using an A760, the memory is small, but it's ok. I've learned to adapt. But this baby A1010, it'll be the best! Yeah!

I've seen pictures from the German Cebit which shows the A1010 in another design(much better), but which will be the release design? How is it about wifi, will the phone support it or not? And I think the A1010 will have the same software based features like the A1000(ringtones, Offic....), I mean it is the same software(Symbian UIQ 2.1), or not? Have the A1000 and I like it, a bit slow on start-up, but I think this is a problem all "smartphones" share. Look forward to the A1010, dont think I'll upgrade though. Had a A925 before my A1000. Will probably await the successor to A1010 with Wlan support instead of getting a A1010.

Very slow phone, features look impressive but phone lags in performance. Can't understand why but it is quite slow. Most PDA phones have unlimited numbers for outgoing, received and missed. This one can only manage to remember 10??? All this tehcnology and size and only 10 numbers, humans can do this on their own..

Scott, AFAIK, smartphones can only have 1 OS specifically for that particular model. It can either be Symbian, Windows, Palm, Linux, etc.

you'll send sms same as you would on the a1000 and a92x phones. There will be a roman keyboard and handwriting recognition icon along the bottom of the screen. If you open the larger picture of the phone you'll see the keyboard icon right next to the time.

I like it , great phone but I did not buy one because my friend has one and the performance on it is quite poor. Very slow thing. Rich with features though. Has lots of features in it. They need to make it a bit quicker though. One has to wait for ever for anything to open up from the minute you start it up the waiting begins..

This phone supports UMTS and GSM, right? I'm in the US, so I was wondering if i would use it here since we have GSM and UMTS is still about a year and a half to 2 years away. Also, does it have a full HTML web browser? I know the A1000 doesn't have a full browser so you can't access any site you want. It uses WAP 2.0. Also, some sites say that the A1010 supports WCDMA but others don't. Is this true? And, when is this thing coming out? Is "soon" reallly a possibility? How does the A1010 compare with Nokia 7710 or Nokia 9300/9500 communicators? I'm so confused on what to buy.

You cannot compare the two phones, A1010 is a PDA and the SE is a candybar phone. Totaly different phones A1010 is a UMTS and the SE is a GSM phone. Ifc you would like to compare the A1010, compare it wiht the P910 or simulare. Sorry for all spelling errors!!!!

I am with Vodafone right now and have been for the last 5yrs but i just know that which network got this phone, i will change to it... If 3 got them, i will go with them... but i just hope Vodafone get them too so i dont have to change... I am waiting for this fone to come out fast and i just dont know why it takes that long. Good news! I just spoke to the Motorola shop twice (speaking to two different people) and the first guy said the A1010 will be out on Vodafone "in a couple of months" and the second guy said "end of May"! So either way, it looks like it's arriving ahead of schedule! I think this is due to the fact that alot of people (including me) wanted the A1000 but not if it meant changing to 3. Therefore they're releasing this one through a more reputable provider, without the usual 'between model wait'!

i'm worried when a1010 launch officially... sym 7.0 still not really on the market yet.. most of the softwares is always following nokia's footsteps rather then other's brand's symb.. which 6.0's software stil yet to finish coming out new software.. will be difficult to get new software while using this model??

yes, there's a on screen keyboard for you or you can buy some portable infrared keyboard. and the phone is not available yet

t-flsh cards upto 512Mb is available now and T falsh card is 1/4th of the size of SD card...the prices are comparable when you buy from sandisk.

Wow, there are so many beauties intorduced in this year's 3GSM. But nothing beat this ultimate beauty. Can be better with UIQ 3.0 on Symbian 9.0.

I am a A1000 owner and I am not dissapointed at all! Knowing that is its expected Q4 soo5, that is when my contract runs out. I susspect that it wont be out of a while, as when the A1000 was announced, it was 6-7 months before it hit the shelves.

You can settle for 2 MP camera if you want. But I personally don't need everything this handset has to offer, so I'll probably go for the cheaper E1120 with 3MP camera.
