  • Do you know if has an option like minutesaver (from Blackberry)? - A short vibration occurs after every 55sec into each outgoing call so that you know when a new minute will start. You can set the seconds freely when it should vibrate. Or in some Nokia cheap phones you can set up the call to drop it at 5 minuts or 10 minuts or any time...

  • just Best Phone !

  • i have this phone everything's is like A1200 BUT IT HAS GPS and beter camera for beter gps performance you must donwload java AGPS softwrae

  • I have a Motorola A1200 now and I've been using it for almost 3 years and I totally loved it, but I really need a GPS... is this model (A1600) as good as A1200? or there's a better Motorola model with GPS as easy to use as A1200?... thanks

  • Well, i buyed this from my 1st salary and t price was quite high. still i loved this model and the looks.. it still catches pples eyes when i used to use this.. but after 9 months its touch pad got dead.was in warranty so got replaced.they gave me a new piece. Now touch screen of this new piece also got dead after 8 months.... and now it is not in warranty too.. So now a simple expectation the phone will work for 3-4 yrs is not valid. Now i indeed hate this brand and phone.

  • Haha you are hater and you don't have any Motorola phones i have this phone and im very happy with this

  • I've been, reading post on motorola phones and i have seen where u constantly put down or point out flaws that are wrong with MOTO phones...i have come to the descision that u are from another mobile cometitor... trying to stop ppl from buy motorola branded phones like this is just wrong and nothing u could say to me after this about any motorola phone can stop me from perchasing it.....

  • Best phone ever I have I love my A1600 after 1 year Prefect GPS Good camera Good battery life Best in Text and note organizer better than my iphone

  • DO NOT Buy this phone. The speaker in the flap will go bust and Motorola will refuse to service it even in warranty period. They call it "physical damage" because the connection between the body and flap is broken !! The phone has damn tempting features but DO NOT buy it. Actually DO NOT buy a Motorola ever !!!

  • hi i have one of the A1600 and it,s been wokin very good for me and i love it

MMS- I cannot send or receive photo's, Is there anyone who can tell me how to get this going. GPRS- It is in chinese and location is Hong Kong, don't know how to change it to show Australia maps. • i am going to buy one can any one say how its music performance will be i love hearing songs with stereo effect will this phone provide stereo effect what about its head phone clarity can any one help me . . . .

  • Hi All, I am interested to buy this fone but i need help coz i really liked the looks, like the clamshell with a transparant flap... Should i really go for this fone?? I am not looking for a music feature but i m interested in a organizer to keep track of my things & schedule. Wht is the exact price for this fone in India? and is it available?? Please help me out with this... Regards, Nikhil

  • Wifi should have been included way back in A780. What I am hearing is that its still not included !!! At the same time the camera IS being upgraded. What the heck is a camera doing in a business phone. GPS is a VERY nice addition though. I am going to buy the phone anyways because there isnt a better model in this price range. Other missing features ... 1. Support for SSL authentication in mail client so gmail will have to keep away. 2. Ability to "edit" excel files etc. just viewing is possible. I dont have the phone yet in my hands so I hope the above 2 shortcomings are not true anymore.

  • Its almost been a year since i've had this phone, although i wouldn't say its one of the best phones out there in the market today but hey its a year old phone, technology changes quick.. 1)The inbuilt GPS is free and very accurate but little slow to catch the latitude/longitude position at the start before you can start using the GPS. Rating : 8/10 2)Web browsing is decent on edge network. Rating : 6/10 3)Camera is mediocre in pic quality even for camera phones which have 3.2MP...My prev phone Sony cybershot k790i was way better when it came to pic quality. Rating : 6/10 4)Audio quality if pretty good when using the headphone but overall loudness is missing Rating : 7/10 5) Touchscreen is very good for a resistive class touchscreen and very responsive Rating : 9/10 6)No crashes/lock ups - Reliable Rating : 10/10 7) Battery life : Generally gives me 15-16hrs backup of normal use ( I generally use this phone for web and song playback) Rating : 7/10 8) You can modify almost everything and anything on the user interface by using MPKG installer, lin loader etc...thanks to developers working on this platform Rating : 9/10 9)Looks : beautiful, different and Unique Rating : 8/10 10) Value for money : I bought it a year back for INR14500, and i believe the rates haven't decreased much ..which is great ..unlike Nokia phones .. Rating : 7/10

  • My understanding is the almighty brand's 6630 is certainly way ahead in terms of capturing enough background noise to the point I could hardly hear what the person is saying. Instead, my other friend is using Moto U9 with Crystal Talk and once he was in a carnival, I wasn't aware unless he told me so. Moto will probably never catch up in the competition for unclear voice communication. Afterall, a phone is a phone. No matter how it performs in other areas, if it can't deliver clear voice conversation, it defeats the purpose for being a phone.

  • It barely works in the US. The phone was made for mainland China, and the GPS from MotoNav only has maps for China. You can set up maps in India & maybe in other parts of Europe, but for the most part their for China. Besides the issue with the maps the phone works just fine around the world. Keep in mind there is no 3G.

  • Will this work outside US?

  • If everything in the A1600 would work it could be my perfect phone. You either must have another firmware/OS version I cannot understand why you call its features amazing... This claim lacks substance. E.g. the recent calls menu works different depending on how you open it - once it shows the number with its time, another time it calls immediately. Annoying. Pictures cannot be browsed, you always have to go back (5-10sec) and select the next one. Oh no, you even have to scroll from the top again! No preview, you have to guess by its number. Just poor, very poor, in such a nice phone. The GPS doesn't work with non-native software. I use it for half a year now, because I love its shape I am really hoping for some improvement, I would never buy a Motorola again. Same as the RAZR - excellent shape, programming standard 4-5 years old. My (year 2005) Nokia 6630 was by performance and handling way ahead.

  • You are right, but the touchscreen is not so bad, hope to release new(FINAL) firmware by MOTO; IT'S TOO LATE.!!!

  • This phone is very/so ugly. It's a newer model to the A1200, but still not worth it. Terrible phone, Do Not Purchase, Please.

  • Probably is not Moto doesn't know how to make phones with Wifi, rather the targeted market for A1600....mainland China, doesn't exactly allow Wifi. (The Wifi is disabled on Zn5 being sold in mainland China) So until mainland China (fortunately finally moving to 3G, so we may see more 3G handsets from Moto) permits public wifi soon, otherwise your dream of having upgraded A1600 with Wifi maybe in vain...

  • Hope to see wifi added in the spec for the upgraded version. I like flip phone with wifi and stylus feature and hope Motorola will develop that and add in for the next version I am still waiting

  • This is a great phone! I used it for a few months now. It has a very bright display and all the features in such a compact phone are amazing.

  • where do u get maps for the uk from???

  • pdf word documents reading problem .pls [email protected] send mail

  • Few years !!! How can u have this phone for few years when it is less than a year old !!!

  • It is a superfashion model, but .. 1-Dosen't supports a universal language pakage 2-Dosen't have FLASHPLAYER currently 3-Not a kindly touchscreen 4-Not a standard output jack for headphone 5-Weak support by motorola 6-Not a poweful speaker *But, good picture, gps, speed, resolution, text font.

  • I used A1600 its nice and i really love this phone

  • I used to have this phone for a few years, it works GREAT!( once I knew exactly how to use it...) The only problem that I had was sending picture messages and figuring out how to "add" excess files on to Dictionary ( But that did not matter because I did not need it anyways ) Best part, I did not need to use the stick, and when I text, it works perfectly, it just takes a while to get use to it. If you have long nails I suggest you cut them. This is one of the best phones I've ever purchased. ((I currently have the LG KF510, so far I like the structures, I'm still trying to get use to it.))

  • i m also planning to buy this... tell me what's the prob with this phone?

  • I Love this phone GPS Worked in UK With new maps for more software MotorolafansDOTCOM

  • Well i was planning 2 buy it but now i think i will not...

  • Is it true dat da GPS doesn't work out of ASIA & vether this phone hangs in between???

  • A warning to all non-geeks wanting to purchase it, living outside Asia. The GPS doesn't work as yet outside Asia. Support from Motorola is virtually non existent. Even the drivers you find on forums are more recent than those you can download from Motorola sites. A very nice phone - if it only worked as promised! Also the default software like the calendar and phone book are VERY basic for a phone of this category. I hope this improves. So far I couldn't even sync it with my PC because my Motorola Phone Tools claims this model is not supported (despite being listed). Modders help pleeeeze!!!

  • not a good mobaiel ok no thems no nuw area

  • Open The tasbi and put it in what u espect from chinese tel 60 euro

  • i added a new option to my phone package and now i cannot recieve incoming calls, but i can call out and send/recieve txts. i took the option off and it still can't recieve incoming calls. does anyone else have this trouble and if they did, how do you fix it.

  • please tell me that what is wrong in A1600??? how many days this battry work ???? is it slower than a1200 or not ??? is it better than a 1200 or not????? please answere my questions !!!thanks all

  • Is it hard to write a message with finger?

  • super model

  • Gold color version is available in mainland China and Hong Kong, not sure about Taiwan.

  • Where can I get one of these in the GOLD color???

  • Other than themes, which I'm not too sure how it works, especially on Linux platform. Otherwise the answer is "Yes" to all of your other questions.

  • Hi. Never owned a moto phone always had nokia. Can you pls tell me if its easy to text? Can you use your own ringing & text alert tune? Can you have themes? Does it have caller id pl???. Thanks

  • No offense meant.. but also count the bugs in a windows mobile :)

  • ya not nice

  • You just can't compare HTC S710 aka Vox with any phones in that price segment if you are a serious business user. First and foremost it has a full qwerty keyboard, then it has wifi (yeah it doesn't have GPS, but then the first two are more important for a business user than GPS i suppose). But you can buy a GPS device and hook it up with the Vox. Plus think about the horde of apps available for Windows Mobile and you will get the hint ;).

  • Best of the A-series! Although motorola took 3 years to upgrade it. Still, the phone is packed with great new features. The main highlight is the AGPS & GPS transceiver. User friendly enough once u understand its application. Great accuracy too! And most of all its FREE! The 3.2MP camera is great too. Superb auto-focus features. No more blurry images. AS the phone is based on LINUX, do expect it to be slightly slower than other smartphones using the windows mobile platform. However this is compensated with the variety of applications that is bundled with the phone. eg, business card reader, talking dictionary ,real one player. Overall, this is a must-buy phone for Motorola avid users! Support them guys!

  • Just bought the phone recently... A great all-rounder! Versatile yet sleek & stylish! GPS & AGPS is stunning once u get the hang of it! Navigate the world like a local! Touch screen is very responsive and vivid colours! Only setback is the lack of WiFi technology. Linux OS is great althouh a bit slow at times. Batt life is superb! Great phone Moto! Keep the touch-screens rolling in!

  • Is this phone better than the htc s710? Which one should i buy?

  • this is really a very good phone with a life time gps + agps is there in it & really with a good battery back up as werll as with good design, but gps is hard to understand.if u made eassy to understand it will be much better and battery back up is very low therefore customer not preffer this handset,

  • So have you own any A1600? Did you ever put an 8GB card to prove it does not work with an 8GB card? I still have my A1600 and you're more than welcome to put an 8GB card in there...and I'll bet with my A1600. If A1600 doesn't support 8GB card, you can have my A1600. If A1600 supports 8GB card, then you pay me what's my A1600 worth in the 2nd hard market. (about US$180 in my place) Want a deal?

  • man,they say UP TO 4 gb ;)

  • GPS works like a charm, i'm from chennai and i can virtually see all the streets with names, its fully free, works even without a sim card and for 3G we dont have the support and so no need to bother bout that, lacks wifi but has other plentiful features like 3.2 mpx cam, stereo bluetooth, touch screen is great, call quality is awesome(maybe due to the crystaltalk tech), get this phone you wont be disappointed

  • to know about the features u can access wit flip closed, read the users guide from the following link www.motorola.com/Hellomoto/Master%20Lists/Product%20Manuals/Static%20Files/SG-EN/A1600_UG.pdf

  • can the a1600 media viewed while flip is close, also how is the quality of the night shots, does the phone have back light

  • My dear friends i am having this handset its very good and gps is also very fine pls dont give all these comments if u want just buy are else just shut ur

  • i hav almost decided to buy this model . But bit confused since it lacks wifi & 3G . Can anybody comment on the applicability of these features in India. And how good is the performance of GPS in india.

  • Moto has been "safe" when announcing the specs of its phones...i.e. in reality the phones can support memory card of double the size (except for most phones supporting 2GB, as anything above needs support of SDHC). My good old A1000 said it supported 128k card, and I put a 256k card and ite worked fine. My old V3x said its supported 512k card, and I put a 1GB card it worked fine. The possible reason is Moto can't gurantee the performance of the "double sized" memory cards. I.e. cards with higher capacity probably draws more RAM, power, and other things in the phone, which may not match with the phone's ultimate performance. Back to A1600, is about time to say goodbye for my unit. As I just returned from Taipei I couldn't download the map as promised by Moto HK...where I bought the phone. So I'm going back to my E6...

  • oh yes...forgot to mention that i inserted 8gb memory card and it works just fine. I don't know why Motorola advertised it to be limited to 4Gb; it could be when this phone was launched, 8Gb SDHC card was not available.

  • i just got this phone today from amazon.com. The phone has been fantastic to use. The phone is very small with 2.4 screen size, which is just enough to enjoy using the touch screen. It is running Linux and is guaranteed to be stable with no crashes. Sometimes the menu options could be a little sluggish, but nothing really to hinder your decision of not buying the phone. I see no reason why this phone should only be launhced in China. It is easy to use, rich in features, and yes it may not be iphone intuitive, but after learning how to use it, navigating through menus is just as fast as the iphone. I personally really like the size of it b/c it fits into my pocket perfectly. The iphone is a little to big. It played all my videos using the preinstalled realplayer. The screen is crisp and bright. The only drawback is that you have to "guess" at chaning language from Chinese -> English when you first power on the phone. Not really hard just a nuisance.

  • Actually I'm curious as to which countries where usage of "GPS" (not to be confused with GPRS or AGPS) is charged? As I thought as long as the device has a GPS chip, it can receive the signal from satellite free of charge anywhere in the world.

  • how come in India GPS is free with this handset? I didnt understand.

  • R u agree wth moto technology

  • I have got a1600 last month and its great! I am so glued to it all the time, I have unlimited GPRS access so browsing is fun on this phone. Some problems in installing some applications otherwise its a fantastic phone. Sound quality is not great but yeah audible. I got it for 15000 with 2Gb memory. Not used GPS much but it looks good.

  • it's just so old. A1200 was a great phone for 2005 but this one is so obsolete for 2008. 3 years, and the only difference is the upgraded camera and GPS? com'on!

  • and what about the motorola krave zn4 ?? is it officially available as yet ?? is that even better than a1600 ?? though i have no idea if the krave zn4 will at all be available in my country !!

  • between the motorola u9 n a1600 which one do u think i should buy ?? how is the speaker quality in a1600 ??comparable with the rokr series ones ??

  • I'm using this phone for the past three weeks. I have no problem in call reception, the GPS works flawlessly, its totally free in India and the maps are almost too perfect. The battery life is also good not comparable to other nokia phones, but still one can make calls n use gps.The touch screen n handwriting recognition is perfect. All other features are same a A1200, but we have a 3.2mpx camera, which takes awesome pics, comparable to my N73.It has A2Dp so you can use stereo bluetooth, and what more, this is the PDA-Smartphone of the decade..

  • I have never owned A1200 due to its relatively low ring volume, which is important in crowded city where I live. Otherwise, in terms of looks, which is quite subjective, I actually like A1200 a bit more than A1600, as the later is rather, if not a lot, bulkier than A1200. In the areas where I live, actually A1200 attracted lots of female users...in white, red, and other color. A1600 has GPS and navigation which A1200 doesn't have. Though I just learned I couldn't get the US map on my A1600, which is what I need. Shamefully speaking (actually the software company should be at fault), the map in my A1600 made an error for the name of the street I live at....which became the street in one of the most expensive neighborhood in my city. (not that I really mind if they give me a house there!)

  • hiii every1. could any1 tell me about this model's quality in respect of- 1. music and its speakers, 2. camera and the flash efficiency, 3. the processor speed, 4. battery life. plsss reply soon. i'll b waiting

  • HMM, i just orderd this phone, do you think the A1200 looks alot nicer or this one?? And what are the major things that are better than the A1200!?

  • damn good phone... good finish

  • A1600 "has" flashlight. A1600 does "not" have WiFi.

  • i thought this phone has wifi.

  • Hi Can someone tell does this phone has flashlight as in SE phones. If no, how is picture quality in dim lights?

  • Hey Rodrigo, your english is good. I hope you just being humble, and not low on confidence. You getting A1600, be ready to flaunt and ooze with confidence, it is beautiful phone!!

  • ds is vry gd phn i am vry happyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • So Moto can't offer "upgrades" of older models? How about the company which keeps "reinventing" its 88xx series? When was the original 8810 released vs. the latest Arte or whatever? Better yet, certain company seems to even run out of model numbers and keep re-using old ones like 7610 by adding "classic" or "slider" or whatever... Anyway, certain company, which has taken over 4 years to develop its first 3G touch screen phone, will not likely be able to offer any touchscreen device about the size of A1600 in years to come.

  • is it in style to remake old crappy 3 year old models???

  • OpenOffice.org is a document editor/creator just like Microsoft Office.

  • what to hell is this????

  • Please tell me that CAN OpenOffice.Org from Sun microsystems be installed on this phone???

  • a1600 s the mobile which used the gps for free for lifetime................, its unbeleivable i am very happy of buying this handset. sure its worth for the money as well as to the satisfaction of all the customers who s willing to buy the moto-a1600 handset. go.............., carry on purchasing the a1600 handset dont be confused.., it as all the satisfactions like style, look, attraction, features, functions etc........................................................, go head a1600

  • Can you elaborate what you want to know about the hand writing recognition part?

  • Hey I want to buy this mobile u tell me about its review. Iam most interested in hand writing recognition. So can u tel me is the handwriting recognintion is sam as A810

  • Suggest you go back to Moto and try a new USB cable...I've heard a few other similar cases which originated from the faulty cable.

  • Have purchased this phone for INR 15,600 at Global Access, R T Nagar, Bangalore 3 weeks back. I pretty good phone, but software would ave been more updated. Already "Mass storage" USB mode on this phone is not working, & I have tested it on My windows PC & on my Mac OS X MacBook Pro, but no go. Will have to give it for service, which is bad.

  • Does the A1600 have any problems with caller I.D.? I heard that, if you have caller I.D. activated, when someone calls in, the name and number doesn't show up, but only shows up when the service is cancelled? can anyone confirm this for me? thanks.

  • All moto models that have music capabilities faithfully delivers what is on the MP3 audio file. Moto doesn't normalize sound. So if you have a good MP3 audio file it will be good in Moto. Even basic W270 in which there is very low bass effect gives you excellent stereo effect. Those who know about acoustics will understand.

  • motorolafans.com will answer you. What ever works for A1200 and E6 it will work for this phone as well. I have tested it personally. Phone of the series like A1200, E6, A1600, A1800 are versatile mobiles and virtually you can telnet, ssh as you do in linux. But these things needs some patience and expertise. Also even you have firmwares in motorolafans.com you can upgrade downgrade etc etc

  • Is this phone compatible with tarballs? Is there any similarity with desktop linux in this phone (use of terminal, commands, like on ubuntu or fedora) How many applications for this phone are available? (compared to a desktop linux)

  • Sound quality is not good as other models. Lots of noise could be heard when you play a MP3 song.

  • I have had the older model since it has come out, and I must say if this newer model is just as great as the older ill be sold! I just wish that: *they made a RED version *put in WiFi *added more internal memory (27mb isn't that great, especially considering that its predesesor only at 16mb to begin with. ITS NOT EVEN DOUBLED!! lol) *I hope this time when I put the phone on vibrate, it still doesn't ring up when I get a SMS lol but those facts set aside, this should be one of the bests..im especially looking forward to using that panorama feature and that GPS baby!! And hell Id even be so bold as to say its better then the iphone (in many aspects)! Now just make this baby in RED, PLEASE PLEASE!!! People working at Motorola, start manufacturing these in RED!!

  • buddy battery and sound is fine but camera is superb ultimate excellent ........i have decided between nokia 6210 and a1600 and realise my decision is right .......i thing its camera is better than any 5 mp camera

  • what abt sound?it is LOUDER?

  • hi dude how about the battery, 14200 is costly

  • i have the phone in delhi and gps is totally free and phone costs 14200

  • In Hong Kong where I live, GPS is FREE using A1600...unlike certain almighty brand. However, "A-GPS" would be charged by GPRS...which one of the network service providers offers US$12.5/month for unlimited usage, plus 600 basic mins.

  • I think the battery stand by time is poor, its only 180hrs. 930 mah battery is not sufficient i think for a touchscreen phone

  • oh really the GPS facility is free in India?. where you got all these information? Please put the link here, i want to view. If what you are saying is true, then it will be run for the money. Because normally Gps will be charged by nokia (eg 6210 navigator). If motorola provides it for free then many ppl will stand in queue for buying it.

  • can you tell exact location

  • Enquired about this phone at bangalore, it's priced around 10,500 Rupees & is available.

  • Don't know how durable you want the cover be, though from both my own experience with A1600 and observation / comments from previous A1200, the cover has never been cracked. (unless you really hit it by hard objects)

  • How is the cover? Is it durable or weakens after a while? Fragile?

  • Did anyone know how to picture messaging? Please show me how to do it. Thanks

  • Motorola a1600 is very cool looking i had seen and feel, it looks pretty, so i would like to go for it

  • I want one too! Initially I was told the maps would be available through my local Motorola website. The phone has been around for about a month in HK now and I don't see any sign of any other map. Then recently I was told the map would be available "once I get there"....meaning once I arrived in US, I click on the map and the system would automatically download the map into the phone. But don't take 100% what I say...just sharing what I know so far. After spending the $ on A1600 (and V9!), I don't have any $ left to go anywhere to try to download the map!

  • well recently i had a chance to experience this phone live, the phone at first looks cool, but its bit bulky at back thats coz of battery this actually got very gud battery backup as its got 930 mAh... camera is prety gud wid 3.2mp wid flash 8X digital zoom & panorama mode wid 5 shots... its even got diffrnt modes likes normal bust mode, matrix mode & gif mode for taking pictures Its got GPS wid AGPS mode all pre-loaded wid life time free navigation in india, wid 30 cities across india, it even covers 540,000 unqiue destination rechable across india ( eg like taj mahal in agra, tirupathi in andhra etc)it even covers 1200 cities across india ( eg hubli in karnataka, whr it covers some impt places & tourist spots in hubli)its runs wid complete turn to turn voice guided navigation, no payments reqiured, no map activation charge, reqiures no GPRS to function..... really excellent phone apart from that its got same fucntionality as ming A1200... this phone is ecpected to hit indian market even before diwali

  • Can any one tell me where I can get the US map for MOTO a1600

  • For the multi-tasking consumer, the touch-screen PDA, MOTOMING A1600, offers access to email, messaging and browsing in a user-friendly and stylish design. The full touch screen simulates a traditional keypad to deliver users a familiar experience, while a simplified user interface offers one-handed access to the most frequently used applications. Bluetooth 2.0 allows for simple pairing with enabled accessories, while also enhancing A1600s download speed and improving battery life.1

  • u can capture the picture in matrix and animations mode

  • how can u say that its a pathetic model i thing it is affecting nokia or samsung sale in some countries thats why u r saying it a pathetic

  • ya this os is good and easy o use buddy

  • Let's see how many more years would it take the almighty brand to come out with any (compact) touchscreen phone...as the company claims it has a phone for everyone!

  • Another pathetic model from you. NF, hello?!

  • is A1600 runs on MontaVista 2.6.1 linux OS?is that good?anybody please answer my questions..thanx

  • Another pathetic model from Motorola. Moto, hello?!

  • good feature

  • nice motorola phone

  • i thing u want 8 inch screen in mobile

  • may be slightly late release., equipped with latest features but what about 2.4 inches screen & battery life?

  • Not sure if the phone will be available in Brazil, in Hong Kong, you can get one for around USD$383 with free memory card, extra battery and other accessories. No contract and no lock.

  • Appears to be a good ("simple", yet good) smartphone. I'm waiting for the release here in Brazil, it's very beautiful and our 3,5G networks are still immature (and the 3,5G is crap here, the networks are new, the service is expensive etc), so I don't mind the lack of UMTS/HSDPA on this phone. The specs include GPS, quadband radio, EDGE, 3.15 MP camera with autofocus... the same beautiful and pleasant Linux OS... Ah... I wonder how long the release will take to occur. My idea is to replace my CDMA Samsung i330 with this Motorola. (My english is not very good, I know, I know...)

  • is it coming with lifetime free gps

  • Each brand has its own expertise in terms of design... Moto invented the flip phone and it still designs some of the best flip phones around with the best reliability. The Koreans are good at making sliders. Certain almighty brand is good at bar phones. Though when you ask the almighty brand to design a flip phone, its top-of-the-line flip phone ended up with a design where once the headphone is plugged in, the flip canNOT be fully opened! (not to mention the paint comes off so easily!)

  • please be kindly advised that motorola should at least have sliding cell phones than having a lot of this flipping cellulars. try to change the shape aswell give it a jam, style and better improve on software those are the area of improvement acording to my view. 076 177 1256 (david)

  • Can any one tell me if I can get the US map for MOTO a1600? If yes do you install the map? Please help. My email [email protected]

  • hey cool, why don't you describe what an exciting phone is?

  • at its price...and to its specs...no wonder it doesnt sell much moto phones here in the phil.

  • Do you think adding GPS and Navigation into the phone cost nothing?

  • a1200 have better desin but a1600desin is not very good a1200 & a1600 have 90percent similar function !! so why a1600 is very expensiver than a1200 ???? the price of a1200 is about 210 us$ but a1600 with low desing & more than 90percent similar function with a1200 and no 3G & wi-fi is about 460 us $ ??? why ? why ?? it is a negetive rank for motorola company ??

  • So where is the touch screen device from the almighty brand with GPS like A1600?

  • Yes this has the same functions as its previous version the A1200. Only good thing is that it reads the sms back to you in a robot voice. Other than that once again a crap phone from Motorola. A question really..why does Motorola build boring phones? Hello? The V3 design is so prehistoric. Why incorporate it in all their models?

  • this would've been cool in 2006... maybe :P

  • One of the reasons for Moto to focus on 2G phones is the fact, People's Republic of China, is developing its own TD-SCDMA 3G system, which is quite different from the rest of the world. Some sources indicated the government even purposely delays the release of WCDMA 3G license to other operators in PRC, so to ensure its own TD-SCDMA system is protected. If 1/3 of your customers are willing to pay such "premium" for phones, especially for such compact touch screen device where N & SE can only dream of making, why not charge more?

  • If you hate this phone so much, why did you get one in the first place? Or are you making comments without owning one?

  • I hate this phone. its rubbish, this phone makes me sick to my stomach. Thje camera is poor and production quality is what i would from motorola. anyone who has this phone needs some serious therapy!!! hugs and kisses

  • i'm sure this type is priority for china market thats why no 3G because in china the goverment still talks about the 3g regulation thats explain about the chinese handwriting in the picture. no surprise but motorola very stingy to give the best feature but they always put on high price on their mobile

  • no f.. wifi no f.. 3g die motorola ! =)

  • go moto go i'm with u...linux os is faster wen it is compared with symbian..symbian sucks...bot still no wi-fi its k...wi-fi in india sucks a lot...moto has touchscreen but still brand like nokia doesn't have touch shame on nokia....

  • This phone costs around USD$383 in Hong Kong as handset only. No contract.

  • Looks like a moto accomply of the late nineties......remember? I prefer the A810, at least is simple, and more modern than this....

  • Playing around with both of these models, the A1600 has a much better camera than the A1800.

  • A1800 also supports CDMA, which A1600 doesn't. (and one has to pay near US$200 for that!)

  • whats the diference between this and the a1800?

  • sexy phone by sam

  • My mother-in-law's W375 is the ONLY Moto phone I've experienced with faulty battery cover so far, which even Moto itself admitted the problem. Moto phones I've used: E6/Z8/U9/E8/K3/K1/V6/Q9h/V3maxx/E2/E770/E1070/V3x/V975/A1000/E1000/A835/E398/V600/V60/388/T720/E360/V878/P7689 etc...

  • Might just be a faulty battery cover. It happend on the PEBL.

  • motorola: sell this phone in the U.S and you will have more market share

  • a m a z i n g ......

  • kkkkkkk good phone

  • it looks good i didnt know about the battery back up early i had a ming which has a really good

  • I just bought this model. Features are nice but the design has some flaws. Impossible to flip open with one hand. The Battery cover falls off all the time (especially when replacing the stylus). Almost impossible to hear a caller except in perfect silence - even with the volume turned all the way up. Besides that - if you plan on texting anyone, you will have to use the stylus. The touch screen IS responsive and accurate but the on-screen keyboard is so small, only the stylus will allow texting. The last thing I can say: If you need a phone that won't attract attention at the office, This phone has no way to disable or turn down the volume for Voice Command. If you accidentally press the button on the side, it will tell everyone in the room to "please say a name or command".

  • In addition to the slightly different buttons design, the "major" difference between A1600 & A1800 is the fact A1800 supports the CDMA network...which "may" be important if your country supports such network. In GSM only countries, chances are A1800 will "not" be available as most people can't use its "CDMA" function. And the "CDMA" chip would cost you an addition US$200...

  • I still dont understand what the difference between A1600 and A1800 is (other than the Edge in one of them and slight design change). Could someone help me understand. I had the A1200 which got stolen. Now I was thinking of going for HTC Touch, when I came across these new Ming models. Can someone helppp me pleeeeeaaassse...

  • this is to Moto design team- pls improve the sound quality (loudness), video capturing capability and increase options for themes. Ming 1200 is beautiful and for last 2 years I have not liked anyother phone. its CoooooooL!

  • to bad its dosent have 3G.

  • Read the stats again, it does have EDGE: EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps

  • I've had the previous version, the A1200, over two years now and the cover's as strong as ever. I've never heard of any cover breaking under any cirucumstances that wouldn't have broken any phone. It's solid, high-impact plastic, far thicker than the individual layers of plastic in a normal clamshell cover. In other words - you really don't have to worry about it cracking, probably not ever.

  • Iloved my old a1200 but common...no wifi???!! get with the times

  • it's motorola A1600 is perfect!

  • prolly covers tend to crack over time.

  • I am is old i am beatiful

  • Y motorola RokR E6 done have a screen cover like this? =[

  • for me its ok ... i am happy with the looks also. but the battery life is poor and processing speed is also not good .... but i still love mu ming. becoz its a small cuty little beetle

  • does it have wifi or not cuz i was reading on some website it says it has wifi.....

  • crap no wifi :( no 3g :( baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd

  • i expected MORE

  • Cool,but No 3G..! So Wise..!

  • no 3g?! no wi-fi?!

  • no wifi no 3g no edge no no no no no... i dunno how to buy something like that...????!!!!

  • yeah specs look OK for a touch screen PDA phone type device. Pity about the crappy looking see-through front cover :P

  • Don't know exactly which country u're from, I certainly feel sorry about the Moto service you received regarding your A780 in your country. In HK I have heard almost no issue about poor quality of any A780...probably due the phone itself wasn't selling well. Though other than SE's P-series, how many major brands offer phones with both touch-screen and a regular keypad like A780? And if you want to juddge the quality of phone which you probably haven't used merely based on past experience of a "single" phone, may I suggest you to read users' comments of the biggest brother's latest "quality" offering...N76? You want paint / chrome to come off? U get it! You want the flip not to "stand" where it should be? U got it!

  • No wifi???,all the reviews said it will have wifi...this does not encourage me to upgrade from my a1200...moto is disappointing me :-(

  • hahah i think now days moto people getting cazy hay moto peopl we r not fools what is the diff bet a1600 and a1800 only one has edge one dont have y u r not adding wifi without wifi i cant think about it we will get good phones with good feachers u r a780 disining is so cool but the build quality is so cheep i dont know how to explain that if some one nee the that a780 photos contact [email protected] u know peopls a780 is good disign but buil qualiti is very bad with in 6 month we los the paint and bad quality key pad also the main thing is if we go 4 service we will not get it they will tel some thing and avoid us this is my experiance

  • Motorola's got other 3G handsets running linux

  • 3g can not be in Linux yet. Hence the reason for not 3g in this model, read a bit operating system! .. Learn ...

  • im a motofan...but wtf happen to the battery??? no wifi??? cmon!!!

  • OH MY GOD I have been waiting sooooooo long for a follow up to the 1200 ming I cant believe it is finally coming out BUT WAIT what is this NO 3G?? that is the one thing I was waiting for a 3g I cant believe they didn't include 3g

  • whats the internal memory of this cellphone, Gsmarena donot put it yet

  • nice features even no wifi still thats good if its having 3mp camere and gps,i am also with motorola because i love this brand so much

  • motorola is going down down... at least linux = hackeable but IS TOO UGLY and porr functions

  • To GSM Arena: the status of this phone should be "available", as A1600 is "already available" for sale (officially by Moto) in China for about USD$480

  • When somebody said "other companies" already offering similar products...I wonder what happens to the No.1 mobile phone brand....where is its touch screen phone? Can it make it as small as Ming? If so, when? Years later?

  • man this phone is a great phone!!! 2 years ago!!! right now, it's like whatever. other companies offer phones like this so long ago and motorola finally released thiers. so sad. the little phone company that couldn't.

  • that design looks like a very very old Palm model

  • This is worth no ones money

  • smartphone's without wifi makes no sense to me.

  • I have a A1200, and i have to say im disapointed in the second gen of this phone. No 3g, no WiFi, only 3MP camera up from the 2MP. Only thing this has going for it is GPS. Motorola needs to step up to competitors with the likes of Blackberry's, HTC, Samsung, nokia, and Apple blowing them out of the water with smartphones.

  • I have been a Motorola fan... But I still gotta say this.. Now days, a PDA look phone should have wifi feature on it.... Or at least 3G/HSPDA........ It is sad that this cool looking device doesnt have wifi or 3G/HSPDA... If it is for business solution, it should has one of the feature that I mentioned (At least)... But still, 3.15mpix, auto-focus camera and GPS is a good start thou for Motorola trying to produce high-end model after their meltdown... Hmmm... NICE MOTOROLA~!!! KEEP GOING~ I WILL SUPPORT TO THE END~!!!!!!! Cheers~

  • linux is god only at pc, in the smartphones sucks.

  • Am I the first :)? I always like Ming series. Linux is fast and reliable, unlike Windows Mobile.
