I can't believe all the negative comments posted about this phone. I bought this phone the year it came out, and am STILL using it- it's been a great phone. I was an aircraft mechanic, so it was also subjected to harsh conditions. It was kind of ahead of it's time back then, I wish they would have continued it. (And the poster named "pissed"- why would you pay $3000 for a phone in the first place? That's just ridiculous.)

This is the suckiest cellular phone that ever sucked. I am now dumber and more frustrated having used it. I award it no points, and may satan have no mercy on its sole. It cost me $3,000.00 in a court case where I could nail the defendant; but the phone died with my SMS evidence. Three phone later in four years, I finally just bashed it with a three-pound hammer and then put it through a plastic shredder. I never felt good as an owner of it. Instead of considering this phone, just take a torch to a $100.00 bill and call it a day; you waste the same money but get satisfaction instead of frustration. Motorola can kiss my ass. This is a great phone. I'm runing CM12 5.0.2 Lollipop with no problem. Upgraded to the 2800mah battery on ebay. If you get one root and unlock the bootloader. Get a custom rom or get rid of all the AT&t bloatware.

First, this phone is very good! The display is beautiful, takes wonderful pictures, and the design is fairly cool. However, it is just not fast enough. I am not one of those people that require the fastest thing money can buy, but I do like for my phone to react when I at least touch the home button. I shouldn't have to press it four times and wait 15 seconds just to get back to the home screen. I wish I had payed more attention to the processing power when I had purchased this phone. Another thing; 8 GB of data??? C'mon...That's pathetic! It can't hold hardly anything! It's a decent phone, however, I would consider something else!

it takes a Motorola EB 20 battery, easy to find on ebay or amazon. larger EB40 battery fits with a little modification. You just need a tool to remove the back cover and a T5 Torx screwdriver. Google "Atrix HD battery replacement" and you will find plenty of info.

It's slow because you loaded a crapload of free apps. The ads arent biilt into the phone, the free apps pop them up, thats the reason they're free smh these same apps automatically open themselves in the background, killing battery life and slowing the phone down tremendously. You're blaming the phone, when the problem is you're loading it with free-versions instead of spending your money, this would happen with any phone if you're treating it like this. I was having the same issue and I deleted them, now I havent seen an add since, live wallpapers are full of them especially.

i use both model . the only problem in atrix hd is battery life . so if you are heavy user its not good for you . moto g have very good batery . display is same with atrix hd . its nice phone . buy camera is alittle poor than atrix hd . and atrix have sd card slot and hdmi port .

Your atrix is in a frozen state.......you need to hold down the power and the down volume for about 20 seconds. Pressing the power button by itself does nothing! After 20 seconds your phone should pop on and reset!

I have had the Atrix HD and the Atrix 2, both have their pros and cons, but both have made me a Motorola believer because the HTC Droid Incredible I had, well reception sucked! lol The Atrix 2 had the better reception, but the Atrix HD had the better voice quality. Just asking for some opinions on what smartphone, no matter the brand, gets the best long range reception? I can deal with lower volume, I am after reception(live in a rural wooded area/region of U.S.). Or is the Atrix 2 about the best?

Can you use offline voice search with this phone? I've read that some phones can't use it due to hardware limitations. For example I have a Motorola Defy+ with a Custom ROM and I've updated the Google Search App but I can't download the data for offline voice search. This is the worst phone we have ever owned. Constant failure of functions. Extremely slow. Constantly batteling popup ads when trying to make a call. Apps constantly running in the background with no way to stop them running up data usage and running down the battery. Very low battery life. I have used the atrix HD for a few months now. It feels durable enough to not care when throwing it around ( just on desks, car and pocket, not dropping it on the floor ). The camera is not the best but adequate at best for posting pics online. My battery last 2 days with light to moderate use. I have juice defender app, disabled the widgets (esp the 3 circle one which drains the battery faster) and lower the screen brightness to less than half. I have a nexus 4 and my atrix hd battery lasts longer. The android experience seems nexus like except for those darn AT&T apps that can't be deleted.

I definately say motorola is the best from my hands on experience with many cell phones. I hope google keeps the motorola team who made these GREAT Atrix 4g and HD phones. Fantastic speakerphone loud and clear which by far beats any other phone iv'e had, xperia, htc, iphony, lg, samsung was very very poor but people keep buying these lowgrade phones and these companies are making them like crazy. Definitely not truthful about the battery! My battery might last 1 day if on standby most of the day. I have to charge every day, and if not, it will be dead by the next morning! I guess that's why the battery cannot easily be removed! Money racket just like everything else in the world!

The best phone I have till now(and I try some). Even with standard att rom. I unlock the bootloader, flash CWM but no needed another rom. With standard rom I don't have any reboots, or stucks. For att rom the sigle modify was for tethering. It was explained on back review. Next step EB40 for great autonomy.

Swapping out the battery involves a T-4 and T-5 screwdriver, something flat to work under the battery to work the adhesive loose from the phone, and a small precision blade. You have to cut a small section of unused plastic from a plate so the new thicker battery can sit in there correctly. It is not for those nervous about taking apart a phone and voiding the warranty. I've done it, and mine works great with just a minor bulge on the back cover.

If you're going to suggest the root & sqlite tweak for hotspots, there is an easier way. Install the Atrix HD stock Mexican Retail rom since it doesn't contain any entitlement checks and tethering and hotspots are available for everyone regardless of carrier limitations. Go to XDA's Atrix HD forums for more help if needed.

Option 1: root your phone, install SQLite Editor, disable "entitlement check" in system settings with SQLE. Google "AT&T mobile hotspot entitlement check" for detailed steps. Option 2: Install Foxfi. No need to root, but you need to buy the full version for unlimited use. Option 3: Exchange it for a non AT&T phone if at all possible.

I just bought this phone I have had it for a week. It took a day or two to get used to. I had an HTC inspire for two years and any battery life is better than that phone. I have been impressed with the speed and visual gui. in all it is a phone what more do you want it to do? it does everything I need it to do and the battery last's till the evening so about 12hrs then back to charger, but i keep a car charger and wall charger at work as well just in case of large usage.

Sounds like you really don't know how to use this phone. This is one of the best phones I have ever owned. Sure it has its issues like any phone but if you treat it right, it works just fine. I dropped mine from an 10 foot catwalk at work and it did just fine.I only have the rubber case that comes with the dash/window mount and that is all I have needed. My only complaint is that he battery goes down to quickly. Everyone is giving bad reviews for this phone, but I say buy it, it is a great phone.

Beware of this phone! I got talked out of a glaxay s2 by the ATT salesman to a atrix HD mb886 because this phone was suppose to have 'gorilla glass' and be near impossible to break. 34 days after buying the phone, the screen cracks through a screen protector and case by me lifting my leg and it getting pressed against my pocket knife clipped on my pocket. The LCD screen broke from being in my coat pocket and me dropping my coat on the floor from about 3 feet. Parts are expensive and hard to find, $100+ for digitizer and $41+ for LCD, and it seems to be very unpopular so no local places will work on it, and I'm wary of mail-in repair companies. The software is ok at best, I did have a freeze-up that required a hard reset to fix only a week after owning the phone but it was the only time it happened. I also have problems with the signal. I live in a low signal area so I loose connection and regain it many times a day. Sometimes it seems like the phone just stops looking for signal and I have to switch it to airplane mode for a second and then back to normal to get it to find signal again. Also, my phone has wifi problems where it will turn the wifi off and not be able to turn itself back on, almost as if it is a hardware problem. Terrible phone. Be wary

Battery life is terrible, but what do you expect with a dual core processor? My main problem is that The phone will not work properly with a Ballistic screen protector or an otterbox case with screen protector. The only way to get it to make error free finger swipes is to have no protector. Im sure others have had this problem too right? Solution?

But over all this is probably the best atrix so far minus the short battery life. This could be me though. I live out in the country so my phone is my internet. I live on this thing. I am using Atrix HD for a few weeks and its running on latest update 4.1.1 Jelly Beans and all I can say is that its a very good phone. Screen is sharp, crisp and very high resolution. Colors are really boosted and look nicer. Battery lasts full day with moderate to heavy use. If you want you can swap its battery (Very easy) with Razr Maxx battery EB40 3300mAh and have double talk time. In my opinion its worth money phone.

It's a good phone. I never get signal drops and battery is better than my iPhone 4s. I just dropped it today on asphalt from my eye level and it got one dot on the screen. edges got a little dented, the shiny part looks slightly scuffed. It kind of still looks new. Looks better than my iPhone 4s and I never dropped that one.

I never write reviews about anything but I had to say something about this worthless excuses for a smart phone, I would not be able to sleep at night letting another sole purchase this crap.. Its a average looking phone nothing special about it at all, it operates ok ill give it that but the most important component must have bin overlooked. The battery life is terrible and will need to be charged 2-3x to get thru your day, if you are a normal person that uses your phone for calls, emails, texts, etc. This phone is not for you!! might be ok If you are a loser that does not have anyone to talk and does not work and can be home all day sitting by the charger. possibly its only value would be it might make you look cool holding it. Also makes a good but expensive beer mug coaster. No point of even talking about the browser specs as it is pretty decent with the adroid 4.0 ICS. but no point on even going over it as you will need battery power to operate the phone.

After my Atrix broke I bought this phone, I only can say it's a proper smartphone and an OK succesor to the first atrix generations. If you are talking about 10 hours of multiple use, then I get more. I had it off the charger yesterday at 7am and and had to charge it at 9:am the next day and it still had 16% left. A mass battery is unnecessary but if good for weekend get aways.

Had the Atrix HD for a week. Performance wise, the phone was amazing, nonetheless, I returned it. Even after all the tweaks and using SmartActions and Juice Defender the battery life was just OK at best. The deciding part beyond that was that it seemed to take a long time to get to full charge when charging. Neither would have bothered me much if the battery was removable, but I knew it wasn't. Just wished for better battery performance. Took it back and reversed my upgrade. Will wait to see if anything better by Moto comes to AT&T. In the meantime, I am using my Atrix 4G, which has a removable battery and is still a pretty good phone after all this time. There is an OTA software update that Moto is giving the Atrix HD that is supposed to greatly improve the battery life. I will wait and see how it plays out before giving up my upgrade.

The battery may be considered "normal" in reviews online, but in real use, it is average at best, which is not good if you can't replace the battery. I'm a Moto fan, but they should have put a bigger battery in this phone. The Moto RAZR XT910 and Droid RAZR ( not MAXX) have the same issue. This battery should have been at least as big as the Galaxy S3, which I believe is about 2100 mah. Even the HTC One X has a bigger battery and my friends that own one tell me the battery doesn't last long enough.

This is the brightest screen on the market right now. And it is not pentile, as the RAZR and SIII, luckily. As well as the very high resolution. It's the best screen available in a phone today. So it is much sharper, and better to use outside etc, but not the same black-level - if that's important to you. And it's a lot more powerful than the RAZR.

I have had the Atrix HD for 3 weeks and have had no issues at all. The battery life is average, however you can always find a way for more juice. Wish it had NFC and more memory. The camera pics are very clear but the colors are over saturated and can look funny sometimes. The screen is very good, very clear. Tests better in the various benchmark tests I've run (5084 with Quadrant standard). Very nice phone and it feels very good in the hands. Good design and the circle widgets are crazy sweet!!

This is worst phone i could think of... battery is worst... on screen softkeys so effective screen is small.. Worst WiFi.. It never connects to my office wifi where as samsung s3 connects with the same credentials.. so in office wifi is available but can not connect.. when i come from office to home i have to restart phone to detect my home wifi i tried to rescan, switch off and on wifi nouthing worked.. Adding a new number to existing contact is big pain.. i can keep on the list with every dam feature on this phone... i am returning this phone for samsung galaxy s3 friends.. though its bit costly go other phones..

I did check out the HD GS3's screen and was impressed but according to reviews Atrix HD seems to have the best HD screen on the market. So, how do you compare it to the GS3 personally ? It runs on the same 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor as the HTC One X (AT&T) and the Galaxy S III in the US. Actually, the picture quality is good as some review says but the battery isn't good still Moto SmartAction can help a bit. But Atrix HD is a mid- range smartphone when you look at the battery lasting 4h35 vs GS3 which last 6h30. Although the Atrix HD's battery isn't as good as the GS3 but the HD screen is the best and not even the iphone 4S can beat the Atrix HD. For only $99 you can get the best HD screen in the market. I personally have the GS2 running 4.0.3 and love it so far but my wishes was to get the Razr Maxx although the Atrix HD is very good in terms of ppi which is 330ppi better than any phone in the market, I'll love to get the Razr HD Maxx 3300mAh battery with 13MP camera and front camera 720p HD, HD display 330ppi or more with SLCD, 4.5 inch is the best size for me, 16GB on board and 2GB Ram with the same CPU than the Atrix HD or better. So make it even perfect Jelly Bean on top of it.

Dude, you have pretty much the same reasons why I chose the Atrix2 over SGS2. I could live with the camera's poor performance indoors, but have they gotten better in the Atrix HD? How's battery life? Considering the GS3's price 299 on contract vs Atrix HD only 99 on contract and even 49 on best buyer. Some people sold the GS3 for a Atrix HD here: Why I sold my GS3 for the ATRIX HD Well even though I wasn't too impressed with the GS3 from what I had seen I got caught up in the hype as it neared launch and ended up buying one. My battery cover didn't snap correctly and overall build quality was not impressive, so now I got the ATRIX HD. Reasons I prefer the ATRIX HD.. -Build Quality and materials are far superior to the samsung (Gorilla Glass, Kevlar backing, metal buttons etc. it just feels put together so much better than my gs3) -Design is more appealing (the oval blasé design of gs3 left much to be desired & I think the razor-esque design of the ATRIX HD with the more rounded corners is really nice. From the titanium bezel in the front to the all black casing that surrounds the Kevlar backing this thing just looks sweet!) -On Screen Nav Buttons (I've always thought it was a mistake manufacturer's never adopted the futuristic buttonless design of the Gnex) -Hot Swappable Micro SD (Love the side loading approach to memory cards) -Dedicated HDMI port (Finally got a HDTV so its gonna be cool not having to use the stupid mhl adapters) -Skin is much closer to stock ICS than the heavily skinned touchwiz(or any manufacturer skin for that matter) in fact there is no more motoblur just a few tasteful customizations(still use apex for that stock look and feel!) I know there are some tradeoffs going with the ATRIX as opposed to the GS3 but it just feels like an overall nicer phone to me. Wasnt really loving the Baby blue color or the flimsy battery cover on the gs3. I'm happy with my choice but either way I gotta say AT&T is killing the game right now between the ATRIX HD, GS3, One X, Lumia 900 etc. theres something for everyone's here.

doesn't have a radio, lacks of AMOLED screen and using a microsim shows a very major drawbacks to these phone. How lame..

I would not mind having this phone...provided they do a international version. Only thing that has put me off Motorola is the really long time it takes them to update their devices. How long will this one take now to get Jelly Bean? Same time it took the RAZR to get ICS...which I am still waiting for in South Africa. Bleh.

The Thing which i know about motorola is they will newer make phone with 4.3 inch and off screens buttons and 4.5 inch with screen buttons because this is the limit for average human hand samsung and htc are making fools of people 4.7 or 4.8 simply useless for one hand even two while standing

R u nuts or were u weeding when u wrote this comment. Ics is a smart os that itself works according to the hardware u have. Thats why it runs good in single core as well s dual core. Goodness me what will u say about jelly bean. It needs 8 core or 16 core ia it!!!!!

For ur info ICS runs better on 800MHz CPU then GB, actually it runs better then GB on any CPU. Let's take u8650 for example, on stock GB ROM it has like 45MB of ram free and CPU is at constant 600MHz to run smooth, but on ICS u have about 60MB of RAM free and CPU runs at 600MHz only in games. So u dun need quad core CPU and 2GB of RAM to run ICS well.

Erm.. the dual core is snapdragon's S4, and it outperform tegra 3 quad core in some way, so basically they are on bar, its not about the number of cores,its about the architect too.

Yahh, nice but not very good. Always a step behind. If use android 4, you need big cpu, not 1,5 dual.Was bether a quaad core, 2 gigs of ram and will be the perfect phone whith no lags.

You can easily cut a normal SIM card to make a microSIM. You just have to be careful not to cut too much, maybe using a microSIM as template might help.

I prefer the look and dimension of the RAZR V. The dimension of this phone should fit a screen size of 4.7-4.8"; not 4.5" ... the bezel of this phone must be quite wide then!

Its 100 times better than galaxy s2,note and s3, atrix hd is with kevler 5 times stronger than steel and razar xt910 also but samsungs is all with plastic .!!!

The S3 needs the bigger battery to keep the listening app going constantly. Besides, no info yet on which CPU this runs, so it could be quite power efficient.
