just bought it for USD 33. Decent internet plan here cost USD 2 a month and calls cost USD 0.2 for 60 minutes plan (good for 1 day). So, can't complain at all. :)

It's water and dust resistent. Android 2.3 Fair processor and small internal memory. Good only for 4-6 apps with factory install. If rooted and stripped of all motorola's preloaded apps maybe 10. GPS, dual SIM, wi-fi, 3G, all ok

use the c cleaner apps from the google apps store or other wise go inside the setting and select the apps manager and then u need to select the running apps after that u need to tap on the apps logo then u can able to stop the apps running in back ground

Posting comment after one year of continuous use: 1) front facing cam (only works with apps say Skype or google +, don't think of it as native video call capable ie you can't Dail a number and think of talking face to face with the person.though it's rare to find a front facing cam in a hand set of this price range. 2) internal memory: very limited, actually only 165MB.though they say 512 MB stuff don't get contradicted.you get just 165 MB for downloaded application. 3) camera-you could rate it from average to good for daylight.it's just average for low light. 4) Swype-sexy app just glide your finger over letters of the word.it's typed automatically for you.very easy to change case (from upper to lower/capital to small and vice versa, you could even type a word in lower case and make just the first letter capital).copy paste and mobile friendly efficient and fast editing options.I just love it.moreover you have two more keyboards of conventional/normal style 5) social graph/activity graph/music + facilitate 7 persons recently contacted (call/text/mail)/7 apps recently used-both being widgets on your home screen/online radio-listen to the international music on internet-no need to download them. 6) water resistant/dust resistant-doesn't mean you could let rain soak it or use it under water.the user manual clearly states the same.however dust resistant is fairly good with cover on micro USB and headphone jack.however you still need to care for loudspeaker part for dust. 7)Looks of the phone are very decent-business class 8)Data encryption on the device not available, virtually none in this price range facilitate this. 9) Web pages, messages, Fb posts in Hindi can't be seen.their letters will turn into rectangles nothing can be read at all. In short if you can happily compromise on camera and internal memory plus no Hindi support (you can't even view a single word).it's certainly the best deal in it's price range

If you have problems with dowloading files, install "Download All Files" application which really downloads anything that you can download with PC.

Its true. There is no stock video-call app in this phone, because it is considered that Android is open source OS on which you can install dozens of apps, including video-call apps. Many other phones don't have similiar apps because it is up to you to use them (download and install) them or not. Not so clever if you ask me, but we can't do anything about it.

I brought this phone last week, but really disappointed to know that VIDEO CALLING is not possible in this phone even though it has a front cam. For video calling u need to install SKYPE or some third party applications. Kindly support me and let me know whether there is any option for VIDEO CALLING.

You are experiencing typicall XT320/XT321 problem. Maybe it has 512MB (more than other same-range phones), but it has weaker CPU (weaker than other same-range phones). Because of that, CPU is storing untouched tasks (apps) in RAM and fills it more quickly than other phones. Only help for that is ATK with user-seted ignore list. Nothing else can be done about that until Motorola releases root unlock.

Hello bro, Install exDialer from Play Store.You wont face that issue anymore. I have 1000 contacts and its working w/o even a fraction of lag. And replace the desktop Contact icon by exDialer for easy access. Also I suggest everyone to install AutoKill Memory Optimizer. My phone is working smooth than ever before. I love this Motorola. You are probably using headphones which have higher resistance than the other ones. This phone detects even small changes in resistance and doesn't allow some types of headphones (or if your headphone cable is damaged somewhere and phone detectd infinite resistance-no connection). Try to use another-ones, this actually is not a phone-related problem, many other phones have that issues.

Battery standby is Awesome, nice scratch resistance and waterproof. Dual-sim functionality is out of the box. Use facebook and others through browsers like dolphin or maxthon, and don't update the stock facebook and uninstall updates for the play store, maps. Definitely a good smartphone for new users like me and Adreno 200 rocks and Stock processor is enough if 3rd party dialer/phone app is used. Slightly overpriced mobile... 3.5+ Inch screen could have been provided, 5 mp Camera Could have been provided, 800 mhz processor could have been provided, Internal Memory should have been increased, Outdated OS. Music through speakers is not loud, can't hear it on a train neither do my friends. No updates, No regional language support, No root access.

NP, well, you don't need flash player, because it is integrated in phone's firmware, MediaSer is also acting weird on my XT320 too, using about 6MB of precious space, I must clean it over and over, also u can use Aaron's Android Assisstant (18 features), helps to improve filling cache issues and preprocessed tasks (and has another 16 very very useful features).... There is a petition on change.org to sign for Motorola's firware unlock, there are only 2000 people left to sign (2000/15000)! If that happens, I'll unlock it in no time.

Thank you jonny... After Installing Advanced Task Killer, the phone is lot smoother, Now I use shadow galaxy live wallpaper without any problem. Free RAM raised to 160-170mb. After Installing flash player, facebook messenger and Maxthon browser, My internal memory reduces to 10mb. After login into messenger and Syncing Maxthon browser, the internal memory reduces to 4mb. So while browsing in Maxthon or Chatting in Messenger, the Internal memory becomes zero and the app crashes. So now I uninstalled Flash Player :( and troubleshooted the problem. Media Server app also uses the internal memory for no reason. Camera clarity is better now than while I purchased it, But the gallery is not improving. I use Quickpic as an alternative to it. They are changing the specifications in their official site, I can feel some change in the spec there. Its not 800mhz(its the contemporary MOTOLUXE), its only 600mhz. Its enough to some extend. Official Feedback Root Request.

I agree with all your mentioned cons, but, your RAM issue is not phone-related. I'm using XT320, with tons of apps (and 3 of them constantly running in background) I always have 180-244MB free with using ATK* Pro (security: Medium, autokill lvl: SAFE). This phone has particullar problems with recognizing tracks because of its very protected mic. I don't know why did it stopped working for you, mine is 5M old and never had similiar problems. Also, I never-ever experienced forced stops, I noticed that this phone has his own task killer, because when listening music with additional EQ app, sometimes EQ just turns off. Gallery problem is not that horrible like you discribed it. It is a problem, for me too, hope that rooting (and clocking) will solve that. =) I had same problem with blinking LED like you. It happens when you have app(s) which are constantly using more than 1/4 of resources (for me, that was GO Launcher) because of which I experienced BSODs later on. Finding and deinstalling proper app would surely help. Mine worst thing that I find out and TOTALLY agree with you is its internal memory. 165MB??? What they were thinking?!? Processor thing is stupid too, if you were searching about it, you may noticed that its usual freqency is 800MHz, which means that stupid Motorola downclocked it to 600MHz (WTF?!?! - I guess its battery lasts longer because of that XD) Battery? It has the greatest battery that I ever seen. When you literaly killing it, it lasts one day and few hours, when not, it can even last for 4 days! And yes, RAM specification is wrong, it has no 512MB, it actually uses 422MB max (which is still much more than Xperia U, for example, which uses 384MB max). Many people are complaining about this phone, a lot. Guess I have luck with it, but still, few things are really bad. Also, all that people must beware that they bought low-end phone which is not that powerful as Dual-Cores, Quad-Cores, etc. *Advanced Task Killer

Bought this mobile 3 months back, and I am not satisfied with it. Pros: Good battery standby. Full flash support is awesome(12MB), Javascript rocks. Responsive touch and bright screen. Best suited for rough use, dropped several times and washed with detergent also! (need to uncover the back cover immediately and clean the water within) Good dual sim stand by.(thanks to GSM Architecture for call forwarding feature.) Awesome Rubberized back. The volume keys are responsive Stylish LED notification Cons: HTC Explorer is faster as they have a free 250MB+ RAM always, My mini always have 50MB or max 100MB free RAM, and Hangs a lot. When using browsers like Dolphin or Maxthon, the free RAM is 10MB and no multitasking when such browser is open, else series of app crashes and phone restart! even unable to attend any incoming call.(since the slide to answer do not work during browsing ) The built in music app is not able to recognize the mp3 files anymore, anyhow music+ is just fine. Its the second time I am getting this issue, Earlier the Moto customer care just formatted my mobile.Suddenly, during the day the phone freezes and I am forced to restart. Critical apps like messaging, home, web browsers show the force close, unresponsive kill dialogue often during the day. Must restart to troubleshoot it, which usually takes 5 minutes to be back online. Got few minute scratches, but isn't visible when the screen is lit. My gallery app is dead slow and the thumbnails take several minutes to initialize, usually 10 mins!. Now no thumbnail is visible even after hours, a lock logo is displayed in all thumbs. My LED notification never powers down. Always blinking but no real notification like new messages etc. Don't know why Motorola is changing its Spec continuously in its official Defy Mini's Specs. Google Motorola does not provide updates or even fix the bugs... Great. 160MB internal memory is simply idiotic. For such a retarded processor they must have provided at-least 3GB internal memory and 1GB RAM. Video recording sound is dumb, This phone real worth is 8K like the Samsung Galaxy Y Dous. I u want a good Rugged Waterproof mobile go to Defy + , Defy Pro or go to Samsung Rugby Pro for ICS. Moderately Water proof, even a phone within a polythene cover would do it. Why they didn't work for a IP67 certified mobile. Don't make calls, browse, text or turn on the screen to save battery. That's a good Brick. Browsing over mobile isn't great, it drains the battery even over 2g. My Inbox gets full very often, that's weird. I used a basic Onida Dual sim mobile earlier(3k), It provided more SMS and Contact Storage space. I think that Motorola must recall all its defy mini mobile and give their customers a compensation for their failed promises and misleading. They must recycle this plastic and start over. Requests to Motorola: At least root this mobile , if no update. 512MB RAM ? Really?. Reduce the mobile price to 6k from 11k. If this mobile is not rooted within few months I am going to sell this mobile for 6K and buy a Micromax Dual Core android 4+ inch screen for 10k.

Dear Friends, I bought this phone three months back,it worked well upto the first month and then started giving problems, call will get cut before 30 seconds and this goes on repeatedly and im frustrated so much for buying this phone, charger went dead for no reason, the ear phone that comes along with this phone is quite cheaper one, dialer hangs a lot, everytime i need to make a call i have to wait 30 seconds atleast to make a call and after making call its gets cut. I sent a complaint to motorola people and they asked me to reset the phone and use it, i did it and problem comes again after few days, this time i just reset and didn't download anything from playstore still im facing the same problem, its clearly phones fault. Many XT320/XT321 owners are satisfied with their devices, only few of them are complaining heavily. I am also an owner of XT320. Suprisingly, I never had any of these problems (speed issues, phone log issues, camera issues and any other issues which those "few" users cannot stand because they are huge bussiness-mans). I admit that it is not so damn fast, but it is just like any other phone. For example, mini Xperias (Xperia Mini, Xperia Tipo, Xperia Go, etc.) have catastrophic screens, Motorola doesn't. In fact, I don't care too much, I'm just trying to understand people who complain about phones which are not cool as iPhone and Galaxy S III...

Video calls are possible if you use appropriate application or if your operator supports GSM-depended video-calls. Also, as I said few times before...If you are trying to break into Pentagon, of course it will be slow. If you are using zillion applications at the same time, even your home computer will be slow. SO STOP COMPLAINING. Nobody forced you to buy Motorola. You could also spend double or even triple amount of money to buy yourself an million core smartphone.

The worst phone i ever bought. MOTOROLA!! what is the sense of secondry camera if video calling is not possible? No use of flash you can't think of taking photos in the night. Poor response time. Your internet connection remains active only if you are dowloading torrents, otherwise, it turns in stand-by state. Interseting, two of my friends bought XT321 and they never had similiar problems, especially phone log speed. It must be some indutrial hardware or software, you better send it to your operator retaliler for service. Also, you cannot expect to break into Pentagon, downloading their data base at the same time, playing a FPS game and answering a call, this is not a f* server or supercomputer with zillion cores. Relax dude, specs told you that you want be able to do that, you could open your pocket more widely and buy Galaxy Advance S or any other dual-core cell phone. Or simply, if you are not a freak for ultraquick calculations, wait for root just like we do. And also, sign a petition for unlocking firmwares, about 2000/15000 people need to sign and root will be out.

I recently buy Defy Mini (XT 321) and i am facing a lot of problems from day 1. The main issue with this phone is HANGING. If you want to see the call log and you want to call a person from the call log you need to wait some time to get all calls list loaded, The Multi SIM fecility is the wrost feature in this phone, when you connected to internet using SIM2 then SIM 1 is getting disabled as usual, but when you off internet still SIM 1 didnt get enabled. One more main problem is if both SIM cards are ON and Internet is not connected and you are trying to call from SIM 1 your call is dropped for every 10 seconds, you need to call again and again because of this call drops, this make your phone bill double may be triple. i called to Customer Care of motorola and they simply told me to download ACTIVE TASK KILLER i did it but still useless. Finally... this is the Wrost Phone. DO NOT BUY A PHONE WITHOUT READING REVIEWS (I made this mistake)

After I listened your advice (internal memory space is now about 60MB), I installed about 15 apps, games etc, and now when I play Dead Trigger (for example), sometimes, my screen turns-off and second or two later it turns back on and everything is normal. I am having same problems with application support (browsers like Mozilla, Chrome and other fancy apps), many of them are not supported. I don't have a problem with that, I just want to install root and put stock XT320 Gingerbread (without operator's bloatware and with availability of overclock). Low-end Motorola, but hard nut to unlock it, hahahahahaha.

Thank you for tips, but still I have a space problems, because the usefull apps (which are about 1MB big, games and huge apps are excluded because it is 99% chance that they will be moveable to SD) cannot be moved to SD. I also have 8GB µSD card and I have to troubles with its free space for apps. You'll probably agree that we all can't wait for ROM root, because I heard that internal memory can be repartitioned on SD card and teoretically you can expand internal memory to 512MB (parallel to ROM av. space). So, you said that phone restart after FB (and other bloatware) can potentionally free-up space? I am regulary turning-off my phone before getting into bed (we can say that I restarted it, because I turn it back on in the morning) and same space remaining. Also (it may be revelant), I bought my phone in T-Mobile (in Croatia). Few weeks ago it came from service (I got BSOD after 2 months of using, they say that BSOD appeared because task killer ...yeah, right...), there was about 69MB of free memory (about 165MB is total available). Most of space are wasting stock apps like FB, Twitter, GoogleMaps, etc. Useful ROOT procedure would help us all (with unlocked root you can also uninstall stock apps). I was looking for unlock ideas and apps for 2 months, no luck, anyone found a way for unlock? Maybe you VenkatMc?

I have installed 50 3rd party apps and still have 25 mb for offline maps or others. Use the app backup feature and create install files for all the apps on your mobile so we don't have to download them again. I use 8gb sdcard and can easily install apps from my backup on the sdcard, for instance I have the updated install file for facebook and can install and uninstall it as I wish. 33mb of internal memory is more than enough since all the photos and videos shot are directly stored in the sdcard.

Don't update system apps like facebook, maps and twitter first.... from manage apps setting, clean all the cache files more than 1mb and select uinstall updates for all the system apps excluding play store app and google voice app... Now restart your mobile, I have gained few mb during restarts after major install or uninstall. Now install android assistant or app2sd from play store... it allows to install apps on the sdcard or we can move some apps after installing them, but not all apps are movable to sdcard. But majority of best apps like opera and dolphin browsers, temple run, angry birds, raging thunder (all these when moved to sdcard use only less than 1mb of internal memory, otherwise which would cost nearly 30mb each) and many more apps are movable to the sdcard. Install all the 3rd party apps from play store and move them to sdcard. Restart the mobile. Now once you have installed all your favourite 3rd party apps from play store, you would still have 30~40 mb, you can now update the google maps first, but clean all the cache files associated with the maps from manage apps setting after updating it. Don't save offline maps it uses alot of internal memory. Let's hope next maps update allows us to save offline maps in sdcard. My maps cost me around 11mb and it's version 6.11.1. Now 25mb or less will be just enough for the facebook update. Restart & you would still have 5-10mb after this. I don't use either the twitter or facebook apps, both consume a lot of internal memory and are not movable to the sdcard. Rather I bookmark them in my opera mobile browser and access facebook, google reader, outlook and plenary of other websites from the opera browser. The flash support is splendid in the mobile. I use ebuddy for the chats. So my twitter and facebook apps cost around 6mb for me. I still have 25mb of free storage by denying updates for facebook & twitter and not using similar system apps. So now I have 25 mb for offline maps or others. :D :p

Front speaker is not resistant on water flow (like water from pipe), but when you toss it in a non-salt water, pick it out, you can freely answer the call and hear another person as well as before "taking a bath". You asked for the update, as far as I know, XT320/XT321 has a locked 7 firmware which doesn't allow any software updates and even downgrades. It would be great if that change, especcialy CPU clock (which is decreased from 800MHz stock value to 600MHz because Motorola engineers are stupid).... Question: How did you put so many apps on your Motorola? With only 165MB internal app memory, I can install only few apps (stock FB app takes unbelievable 25MB!). I have CPU Notify (22.83kB), BatteryLife (78.64kB), WidgetRAM (61.39kB), Download All Files (437.75kB), Holo Launcher (992.66kB), Advanced Task Killer (97.44kB) and Equalizer (16.39kB). With all that dowloaded apps (and gigantic updates for FB and GoogleMaps) I have around 33MB free memory for additional apps. How stupid is that!

Will there be any update for Defy MINI from Motorola (like improving the battery performance, UI) ?

Sooooooooooooo NOT TRUE. My friend had Xperia Active and one day he accidently droped his phone into non-salt lake, phone sunk on depth of few centimeters. Screen broken, MBO fried because of water breach, in other word TOTALED! He repaired it but the phone is chrashing and restarting for no reason even today. Now he has XT320, just like me and he thrown it in water on purpose (the phone flied few meters and fall in much deeper water). He dived it out, cleaned it, no problem.

First things first, your operator must support video-call feature. Call direction is set by default on Voice calls only, you can also set "Ask for each call" and every time when you'll want to make a call, phone will ask you the type of call, internet call (video), or phone call (voice). You can set this in Menu > Settings > Call Settings > Call feature settings > Use Internet calling > (set "Ask for each call").

defy mini headset is very very poor quality..for china phones also they are giving good quality headphone...however motorola doing still same thing...u can get better than that headphones around 50 r.s. Picture quality is great. Flash is not installed by default and has to be installed through google play but works fine. Phone only gets hot while charging. Overall a good phone but in my unit a issue has came up with gallery where i am unable to scroll through photos. i have to manually go back and select next photo

Xperia go has the same low res as this 3.2" DEFY Mini, only spread over 3.5 inces, not a good look. DEFY+ is still be best tough phone option, with it's 480x854 3,7" screen. It may only have Gingerbread officially, but you can do so much more and enjoy the phone more with it's higher screen res. After all, the screen is the main interface.

Thanks Danyell15 I did that already (the +63 format in the syncable google directory and the 0918 format in the unsync phone directory) and now it works fine. Hope Motorola fixes this problem thru software upgrade soon. Except for this problem the phone for me is great for its size, battery back up(2 days for my use), sound quality especially in hands free mode, and of all the cellphones i've tried, Defy mini's GPS has the fastest signal lock (unassisted) and very accurate also (same accuracy with my Garmin Nuvi 1100).I carry it with me during my jogs and my biking without fear of getting wet because it's also water resistant.

one suggestion, since this is a dual standby phone, you can forward the calls when any of the SIM in disable mode. i.e., when you use sim1, sim2 will be disabled so this will be in "not reachable status". you can forward the calls to sim1 to sim2 & viceversa. By doing this you will not miss the calls...

i have the same experience. i already had it checked at their service center at robinsons pioneer and all their stocks behave the same way. for the meantime, the only solution is to save 2 numbers per contact name, one +63917xxx and another 0917xxx. only problem is it will only work if you save your contacts on your phone. crap

Temporary fix: (even though i do not own this phone YET) Copy all ur contacts to ur phone and add the prefix for SMS and then add prefix for calls for the ones in ur sim. Hope it works.

yeah i kinda have the same problem. the phone doesn't recognize the name of the message sender if its number is stored in this format: 0917XXXXXXX, on the inbox it will show +63917XXXXXXX and will not reflect the name. right now i'm having problems with my inbox cos all my numbers are stored in 0917XXXXXXX format. haaay i thought it was a software problem so i had it checked at their service center, but it looks like all the other phones behave the same way. i wish motorola releases a software fix for this SOON. it can't be a default.

Nice fone for the price I bought min 3 days ago Php 9,500.00 . One slight problem though with the phonebook if your saved nos are in "+639XXXXXXXXX" it can determine who's sending you SMS but cannot determin voice calls, And if you change the format to "0918XXXXXXX" it can determin voice caller but cannot determin the sender of SMS message. Anyone with the same experience? Pls help.

purchased for rs 11000/- in hyderabad india a week ago. my review will help u a lot than other as i am using it. here is positive & negative things..in this defy xt321. positive:- 1) full adobe flash support; 2)first mobile which support full adobe flash player at rs 11,000/- 3)front camera can use for skype video call. 4)audio output is good. 5)camera with flash works fine. negative:- 1) one major drawback.....is while using net on sim1, sim2 is switching to disable mode. 2)while loading call log info it is taking much time to read missed call, recieved call,out going call.. but i overcome this issue by downloading dialer one app from play-shop (or) market. 3) as for company mention this device is dual stand by that is while talking with sim1, sim2 will disable and viceversa. 4)last one is speed is low ie 600mhz that takes some time to load gallery photos....videos..etc be clear with these thing before purchase.....
