This is a fairly budget smartphone but when first released it was considered more midrange. My first impression of the display was that it is a decently good resolution and it appears very bright and clear although small. The touchscreen is very touch-responsive. While not something, I instantly noticed the screen is made out of plastic rather than glass. The battery is very large for the small screen but this unfortunately doesnt translate into day to day with the phone failing to even see out a single day of more heavy use of the screen. Casual use still struggles with longevity. The phone is noticeably sluggish to respond with it hanging and lagging a bit too often. The phone does not break very easily at all through drops so accidental day to day drops are not a problem. The phone does not cope well at all with recovering after a dunk in water with 5 seconds under water, my phone is now stuck in a permanent bootloop and turning on without any input from the power button. While charging still works, the phone refuses to boot all the way on without restarting. Overall, this is a good phone if speed and battery life are not huge concerns.

Great phone. I use it for an MP3 player and the Podcast Addict app. Has a higher speaker volume than most phones, thus makes it an excellent pillow speaker for some bedtime postcast/music.

log into the same google play account in your wifes kindle device if it can and transfer it. or you could try pugging it into your computer, browsing for the file and transferng to the computer then if you need convert the book to another file testit and then it may work on teh kindle. google is your friend, ask him and youtube video tutorials may help.

this phone battery does not last for 2 or 3 days. especially since i update to the official android 22 operating system. it is still a good phone but it is a bit old and slow now. i guess the battery would last longer if i just used it for making mobile calls, and texting, but i use calendar, diary, upload notes to google drive, manage my contacts to google, have a weather widget, manage alarms, and a few other things. it is about time for an upgrade soon i think. i can strip down this phone uninstall all the add-ons and apps i have installed and things i dont need. then i can just use it as a wifi media player for my blueray player when i upgrade. it works well with itunes for that.

I love this mobile phone. Easy to use, not slow. I dont like these phone with big screen's, but this samsung is somwhere in the midlle size, perfect fit to store it in pocket :D Battery last's about 2-3 days which is enough :D Only problem I have is somethimes I get problems with a gps status. Then you have to use code to get your position. And second....a phonebook, it bother's me so much, some of my contact's he saves on sim, some on mobile. After it I just cant turn on in options to show all contact's in phonebook, thoose on sim and mobile, it just show's from sim.....That's it :D

check this: - signal level (in the status bar, next to the battery level) - if the sim is not properly inserted you might get this message on the status bar: no sim / no service - your credit with the operator / the valability of the sim card. - if this doesn't work go to service. Good luck!

My phone GT i5800 is running Froyo.... i think dats y it has turned laggy. but better than the new Galaxy Y.. well its a low end smartphone..it lags when it loads larger websites with too much graphics. . RAM [248/256] is not enuf thats why..pretty cool CPU stable mostly.. it just amazing for Video on the go.... Movies @480p for more than 10Hrs..On the Gaming side. Poor graphics.. but there are enuf games in good framerate.. Great Battery... 5 * for that.. Hmm.. has DLNA thats pretty useful for ya HDTV with Wifi... Good Camera for potraits.... for landscape stuff not gud enuf... bare clear at night.. Lack gorilla glass thats a great disadvantage... Has great Audio Quality almost equal to iphone.. but some test says better than iphone 4 for audio experience. No falsh dat suxx... good for social networking.. i recomend UC web becoz itz faster than all web browsers to this phone... If u r looking for a smartphone for a low price go for this... Bt i hope HTC explorer is the best phone now for low price...

I have used a Galaxy Apollo (i5801) for about a year now, and I have to say it's by far the worst phone I've ever used. It's slow, it's UI is ugly (unless you spend ages rooting and fiddling with it - and even this never quite sorts it out), it's unresponsive, it looks and feels tacky. It crashes frequently - apps (including things like the dialer and messages!) crash, and sometimes the phone randomly hard-resets, forcing me through an achingly slow boot cycle. While this is technically a smart phone, it makes any internet related task an absolute nightmare. As a 'dumbphone' it's slow and clunky. It falls between two stools, and falls hard. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

Ok i have been using this phone for more than 1.5 years and trust me you dont want to buy this.. Initially when it was launched it was a good buy as it was one of the initial android phone and you could have njoyed all the features of android for not that much of a cost .. but if anyone is thinkin of buying it now .. please think again Most important thing is that since this phone has been put of stock now .. no general mobile store keeps its battery as well.. and even in the samsung service center they dont have it in stock .. they have to order it.. now what else the battery dies down with in a day if you are connected .. then the phone is very very very slow even for opening just the basic things like contacts and call log .. and worst of all it doesnt get upgrade to beyond Froyo Android V 2.2 My suggestion dont even think of buying this phone or you will end up suferring like me

This phone is excellent, it performs as advertised, even with the stock Android 2.1.1. I was reading these opinions and honestly, I don't know how people even break their phones so often. It never hanged, fast enough for a casual user, camera is good enough for its league. People need to learn how to actually use their phone properly. Oh, and despite its plastic build, Galaxy 3 is an incredibly tough phone, once it fell from about 1,5-meter height on the concrete (with some acceleration, too), battery cover and battery itself fell out. I have just put the battery and its cover back in the phone and started it up. Damage done = ZERO (0). Not a single scratch or any sort of malfunction! In my opinion, there are only 2 cons: 1. its rear slippery surface which provides weak grip (that's really the reason why it fell on the concrete in the first place) but that can be solved with a gel mask. 2. there is no light at all for the hardware keys at the front (a trend Samsung followed with some other phones as well, don't know why), but it's not a deal breaker by any means Overall, I recommend this phone.

Crap, crap, crap-Samsung galaxy apollo. This phone started having problems after one week: autodelete of all contacts, with no cause whatsoever. Also, sudden fallouts of the phone, tincansound while calling, slowslowslowliness and numerous other errors. Resets worked for a little while only. Samsumg Kies would not recognise the phone so an upgrade of Android was no option. One year and a bit later fallouts are worse: they occur after 15 min or less with battery fully charged. I have returned to my solid nokia oldschoolfridge, which lasts, and is not promoting waste economy like Samsung does. Samsung Galaxy is hell, so never think of buying anything like this. And ofcourse I don't have any faith in any of the Samsung phones that have been made since, their improvement is an illusion and a invitation to bugs following you everywhere. Worst of all: they don't care about you, consumer. And yes, I am seriously frustrated but have the fact right here in my hand. For the final minute that's for sure; out of the window, you damn phone!

I have this phone for almost one year now and it was too expencive for his possibilities, was about 350� retail in Croatia. Right after purchase Samsung Kies offered firmware upgrade which slowed down already slow hardware/software. Battery on normal business use lasts almost one day. Camera has worst framerate ever seen on newer phones, but pictures on bright sunlight looks nice. Every now and then phone has bugs like: rejecting calls when you answer them, screen doesn't turn on after removeing from your ear, loosing gsm signal, GPS takes hours to find sattelites, GPS position on camera use doesen't work... Altough, it's nice phone, wireless network web browsing works, not too fast but i'm ok with it, My next phone will be HTC in same pricing range...

The only working G3 ICS version i'll know, is the Cyanogenmod 9 for GT-I5800. It's a ported ICS Firmware in beta stadium (no working BT and cell connection). Flashable with Odin. You need the Odin Flasher + apollo_0531.ops file + original firmware Version from www.samfirmware.com (to restore an unmodded firmware) or your own ROM. Samsung USB Driver: a flashable ICS TAR Package. yes u can upgrade it further but not officially(Samsung closed the up date).you need to root he phone to go further right now i am using 4.0.2 aka icecream sandwich but it has some cons such as video recording and Bluetooth wont work

If you are using 2G sim it will take some time to buffer so you have to wait and watch. Otherwise download tubemate application from market. You can download youtube video to your mobile and watch.

Now apps can be moved to sd (wonderful thing) 2. GPS is working fine (No issues) 3. WIFI hotspot 4. Control key for mobile data on off (Long press power button/ mobile network setting) 5. Apps - A new task manager is given, Updated default Gmail, Google search, Maps, YouTube, music, browser, contacts and market and can update from market. Improved voice search and voice dialer app. minor update to messaging. 6. Calls can be answered using home key (hard key) 7. Better battery backup (not a major improvement) 8. A new shortcut at notification bar - Auto Rotate 9. Better texting with Swype and Samsung Keyboard. 10. New apps can be installed from market which supports Froyo Cons. 1. Now default apps consumess more memory (RAM) than earleir. 2. Phone become slower when you install more apps (which operate in background) #Froyo #2.2 #update #review

Recently I upgraded my phone to Froyo. After that my mysic player not working fine It is unable to recognize M4 music files and it is getting crashed when ever it comes to play that. Guess you already bought your phone :-D btw, you can save contacts as .vcf file. You can also install apps in memory card after upgrading your phone to android 2.2, this will be done for free by Samsung service center, you can do this yourself using Samsung kies as well.

Yeah it takes about 4h to fully charge battery. After 4h u get notification that ur battery is full and to take it off charger...

When i buy this i5800, i was verry happy about his battery: Li-Ion 1500 mAh Stand-by Up to 620 h (2G) / Up to 510 h (3G) Talk time Up to 15 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 7 h 15 min (3G)... but i realized after i install Battery Dr Saver, that battery have stand-by up to 310h and talk time 6:50h(2G) and 4:20h(3G) with all apps OFF. To EVERYONE: As I told you all I'm planning on getting this Galaxy for Christmas. I'm coming from Symbian and appreciate many things that Symbian is able to do. One such thing I appreciate with Symbian is backing up the entire phone memory to memory card. Can you do that with Android? In addition to that you could back up all contacts individually as business cards (.vcf files). Can Android do all this? Also GSMArena said that apps cannot be installed to the memory card. I also encountered the same problem for more than 5 months and then i found a way to tackle it. Go to settings> Accounts and sync> switch off background data (just touch the green tick and make it disappear) This area only consumes more battery energy. If you switch off nothing will happen. Only on downloading the apps from android market it will ask you to "switch on", Then you can switch on. Make sure, switch of wifi,bluetooth,maps like running utilities when not needed. Then it will lost for 1.5 days. You can believe me!

I bought this samsung galaxy Apollo a year before. Overall it is excellent. 90% mark we can give. As you said, only for the sake of less sar value i preferred this phone among many. No heat or radiation is there during the long phone calls. The issues i found with this phone are: 1. Low internal memory which do not hold many android apps. 2. Sudden black screen, some times when a phone call arrives you. (I remove battery and put again) 3. Wi-fi connectivity issue for no reason found. 4. Battery consumption is high..drains by evening 5 pm itself. You have to be vigilant to switch off many unwanted running software and utilities.Then it will serve for 12-15 hrs. Otherwise, you will get in trouble or should carry other one mobile. 5. Its bad shape. You have to be careful on handling it otherwise it will fall down at any time. Its not of actual square shaped one...tapered outside and feel not-grip at hand. Pros: 1. You can use it like a computer. Very easy to send any contents via mail and social sites. 2. Android market is very very useful many are free apps. Easy and fast downloading. 3. Sound quality is good we can give 80% mark. 3mp camera is decent though not remarkable and it is serving the purpose. I will add some thing again. Reception is good indoors and outdoors. It all depends on your network provider. Speaker sound is good for music loud enough to hear any song. Speaker on calls is good atmost at 2ft away. Touch is very accurate, it can pin point a centimeter area touch. You'll find this phone laggy, also you cannot experience some games which requires high graphics. Its a budget phone which will give you all the android experience. But then, there's custom rom which speeds up the phone, I installed kyrillos rom and now my phone at 1200 MHz and lots of enhancements. Now phone is smoother and faster. But still don't think to play games smoothly on this phone because it doesn't has any additional GPU. My recommendation is to look for a phone which has a GPU unit, if you want to play games. LG optimus one is generally better than this phone, but it was available at 100$ less at market price, so I bought it and didn't regret my decision ever. :D

I have read GSMArena's review but there's nothing like getting feedback from you the users who have used it day in and day out. There are millions of questions that people can ask about these advanced phones but I will ask the main ones. First of all this will be my first touch screen phone. How do you find the touch response? Is it very accurate and how do you find the touch sensitivity? Does it respond to a slight touch? Do you find the ringing volume loud? Do you find the in-call earpiece volume loud (when holding the phone to your ear during a call)? The SAR rating of this Samsung Galaxy is low at 0.58 which is nice seeing that my last phone (Nokia E51 - UK variant) was 1.47 and my current one (Nokia E71 - Canadian version) is also 1.47 and to be honest I have gotten headaches right after making or receiving a call with both these Symbian Nokias. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens too often. The last phone I had that had a low SAR rating was Nokia 6300 at 0.57 and before that Nokia 6230 at 0.59 so the Samsung Galaxy fits nicely between those two s40 Nokia phones at 0.58. My last 5 phones have been Nokia phones so it's clear that I have been a Nokia fan but I have always liked, rated and respected Samsung. After the bad radiation experiences from my only two Nokia smartphones, the E-Series, my question to you people is...do anyone of you get headaches during a call while holding this Samsung Galaxy phone to your ear? With such a low SAR rating I suspect not but would like your feedback just the same. GSMArena stated the the music playback is superb and even more superior than the bigger brother Galaxy S so I look forward to hearing music playback on this. The Galaxy line-up is the flagship so whether Galaxy 3 or Galaxy S I expected high-end stuff. How do you people find the GSM reception for phone calls indoors and outdoors, good, very good or excellent? My final question is what faults (if any) do you people have with this Galaxy? I think I have covered all the important questions. Thank you all for reading.

For all the android users download "androzip" from the market .You can use the app to backup other apps so that you can delete them to free memory.Also download "elixir" this app can be used to stop the phone from connecting to the net.And to limit your internet usage download "3g watchdog"

Most probably, it is a hardware problem. Even I had dealt with a similar situation in the past. Earlier the key would function after a few tries, but eventually it just stopped working completely. Later came to know that the touchpad had been damaged. If it is still under warranty, then get it fixed at the Samsung Service Centre for free!

hi guys, I've been using this phone for more than a year now. recently left hard (options) key stopped functioning correctly, i mean it does not do what its supposed to do. When i press on it, it takes me one step back from where i was. This is the function of the right (back) hard key, but now both buttons are doing the same thing when pressed. I can access "options" only after several annoying tries, even though i have to press the button very quickly, e.g. if i want to delete some call logs from the log, i have to press options button as soon as i touch the "phone" on the screen. even thus i can not succeed with just one try, sometimes 10-15 tries. So, IS IT ANY KIND OF A BUG OR HARDWARE PROBLEM??? P.S. did not upgraded to froyo yet...

Nice phone, I use it mostly as a PDA. However after applying in-official 2.2 update, it does not work with Kies any more. The main reason for applying the update was the calendar bug. With no talking, the battery lasts 2 full days (quite short after coming from a non-smartphone Samsung Star). Star (S5230) had horrible touchscreen, but on Galaxy 3 it is quite good - no complaints. Impossible to read in sunlight though.

Its Good bye Galaxy 3 and Welcome Nexus S. My personal advice to all those who are planning to Buy Samsung Galaxy 3 is that its worth considering other phones which are already running on 2.2 (Froyo) rather than buying this and then getting it upgraded to Froyo. There are surely known issues after the upgrade with GPS and Swype keyboard and in my case even the camera is not working. Also, as such Galaxy 3 is slow probably as compared to lower spec pre-installed Android 2.2 phone. So, I'm planning to downgrade it back to 2.1 at Samsung Service center and then sell it off. There are other options from Samsung only having better configuration and lower price. Note: These are purely my personal views based on my 10+ months experience with Galaxy 3 and should not stop you to go ahead with this purchase.

Galaxy 551 and has almost same feature as galaxy 3, but it has 256K colors, which means lower video quality and picture quality. Also it is more thick as it has qwerty keyboard. Galaxy 3 touch keyboard is also not bad for typing.

Same problem happening with me, when i try to add any android widget. And same occurred in my friend's phone. I think this problem is common with these type of phone. But he said, this problem is now gone after he upgraded to froyo. Resetting the phone to factory settings may be other option, but I didn't tried it yet.

I have had one a month or two. Still no sign of an upgrade to Froyo in the UK. My phone isn't locked. Also, annoyingly, messaging on mine keeps crashing and requiring a forced closure. Once done its deleted all my txts. It seems to be a memory thing as it seems to happen when I have a few, maybe one hundred or so txts. Anybody any tips on how to correct this?

I got my phone upgraded to Froyo 2.2 at Samsung Customer care center in Hyderabad, After the upgrade: 1) GPS is almost dead, out of 10 attempts I got the locks only once. At least with Android 2.1 GPS Booster was working. Nothing works with 2.2. 2) Skype doesn't work. 3) Camera stopped working. So the main 3 reasons for which I bought this phone are not fulfilled after the Froyo upgrade. I must say purpose is defeated :-(

This phone not as good as expected. Specs state battery standby on 3g is 510 hours. The best I can get with everything turned off except the phone is 96 hours. A couple of times the battery went flat in 1 day. Cannot send/receive multimedia. One phone (we have two) continually loses signal. We have to turn off and on again to get signal. Bad buy.

I am still having no luck with Kies it states im on latest firmware and no suggestion of 2.2. update on android. same goes for friend who has Samsung Galaxy Fit also open to any network who wants Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Samsung says updates for apollo to 2.2 are being done network by network im on t mobile and that not done yet. Maybe have to wait. Hello I have the same model (Apollo version). I bought the phone just before Easter. I had realised problems with the Wifi (very low reception signal, wifi connection switching off when the system was going to power saving mode) and GPS reception weak. I took it to the local Samsung agent to correct these and update to 2.2. Eventually after 3 weeks, I got the phone, problems corrected, but no update. After a few days, when I connected my phone to the Samsung Kies, the s/w informed me about a new version, 2.2 and i installed it without any problems. Still, the battery indication is crap though, nothing comparing to the accuracy of Nokia ones...

I have been using this phone for 8 months, bought it at 12k then and have been very satisfied. Now this model is available at 7.5k at flipkart.com and believe me guys, it's a steal at that price. It's got the max battery capacity of 1500mAh in comparison with other similarly priced and few expensive android models,even better than samsung galaxy ace(at around 15k). Also,Samsung has released android 2.2 for this model.You can update once you buy it. The only thing that doesn't work in its favour is it doesn't play some type of games well(arcade and racing), since it doesn't come with GPU like galaxy ace. But, you can't ask for everything at this price point. Unless playing games isn't a necessity, you can blindly go for this model. Rest can look for one with GPU. Any feedback/questions are welcome.

The Ace is better it has a 3.5 inch screen compared to the galaxy 3's 3.2 inch screen. And it has a 5 mp camera with flash compared to the galaxy 3's 3.2 mp camera without flash. Also the Ace had a 800 mhz processor while the galaxy 3 has a 600 mhz processor.So the Ace is better!!!

Hi ppl i have had this phone for about 3 months for the most part the phone is gud the screen and the speed is gud for a mid range phone only this i found was that ghe music player would cut out and in sort of jump wen u had the equalize on. Don't no why but i do no that it wasn't the music or the headphones that i was using and also would like to say that the phone would some times not let me make phone calls so i would had to turn the phone off the on to make a call other than that love it and am happy with my buy and a waiting for the update to 2.2 UK come on Samsung!!!!

G3 is better if you dont mind the version and can live with eclair or can find a perfect firmware for it, for i noticed that G-min lacks loads of features but has froyo, 7.2 HSPDA and is newer, thats all!

i have updated my phone to froyo and it is working well. I will advice that anyone that wants to update the phone to download the official firmware of the country the phone came from, to avoid problems. E.g my phone came from Ukraine and i downloaded Ukrainian firmware. just do that and you will be successful with the update.

its a very good phone as i already have one overall the design is good looking and works perfectly and also the android is good it has lots of apps available for you to choose from. Never the less there is one problem that i have with the phone is that my credit keeps running out its like the phone is eating it all. i had £7.51 credit and soon after sometime i checked and it was down to £5.91 with out me going on the internet or texting/ringing. on the other hand most people say battery life is not that good but for me it is good does not run out that quickly usally lasts me 2-3 days. and does sometimes freeze at points but not most of the time. i just wanted to know why my credit is running low does anyone no?

If u have any friggin prob wth ur phone all u need to do is just find the appropriate app! i share a link which woukd help u in solvin quite a no. of your probs like low battery,searchin instead of browsing thru contacts,click a button instead of slidin the bar from one end of phone to another for accepting a call,lock files etc.

hi mark, first you have to download kies from sumsung site,then do reset ur phone as it cannot get upgraded without it.then run kies after connecting ur phone via usb cable.it may take time to bout 30 mins to upgrade but donot run any other program in ur system while phone is being upgraded.it took me 3 times to upgrade my mobile, but froyo{2.2}do have demerits as swype get stuck if u upgrade ur phone.rest is gud phone becomes fast and various things. so happy upgrading.

This phone has lot of bugs. this phone is a result of blind competition in android market, where most of the companies compromising with quality becoz of limited time frame and frequent release of newer version of android with in 2-3 months.Becoz of that most of the companies under pressure and releasing their product without testing and checks.. Android is excellent but stability is very low and hence affecting the overall quality. My phone has lot of hardware and software problem. s/w problems i can compromise with but lots of h/w faults are there like faulty touch pad,cheap qualty body etc.i have already taken this mobile to service center 3 times.

Hi, First thing u would be lucky if ur gps get locked, becoz i am using this phone since sep 2010 and gps got locked only 1-2 times. However there are apps on android market,which will tell u gps status. and else if ur gps get locked your point location accuracy will be with in 2-10 metre. otherwise if it is getting location data from the tower(i.e becoz of A-GPS), accuracy level will be in 100m to 1-2 KM.

You can try this: type on your phone *#7284# and a menu ("phone util") should apear. Chose modem and then pda. The good mode should be pda. Even if the modem is pda, switch to modem and then switch back to pda. I had the same problem but this worked. Hope it works for you too!

i also faced the same kind of problem when i rooted my phone in 2.1 in my case the phone didnt recognised and usb connection no matter its mass storage mode or kies mode. it with just charge as if i had plugged it to a charger and not a computer. well i went to privacy and did the factory reset option. that cured the problem. you can try the same but that will uninstall all apps on your phone

hey guys, i am facing a problem with the froyo and just wanted to know that is it you all facing the problem or is it just me. the problem is like i have stored the icon of angry birds on the fourth application window but whenever i restart my phone or even transfer data to my laptop with, the icons gets back to the first application window and even the shortcut disappears from on the homescreen and does not come back even if i disconnect the wire. i know its sounds pretty easy to just move the icon of angry birds again on the fourth home screen but its not that easy when you have to move about 25-30 apps again and again to there desired position after every time i connect the device to my laptop. the applications get rearranged in the application window according to there names but this thing only happens to those apps which have been moved to sd card. to explain my problem clearly let me give you a example... i have angry birds on fourth window, angry birds rio on fifth, raging thunder 2 on fifth and talking tom on sixth application window. also my first window has only 3 lines filled that is the fourth line where apps icon can be stored is free/empty. when i restart my phone, all the above named apps will jump to the first application window instead of being in there places and rearrange themselves in the order of there name. NOTE- only apps moved to sd gets rearranged in the order of there names and not all other apps.. so i just wanna know if anyone else facing this or is it just me.. also tell me a solution if you know..

Hi All,11-Apr-11 in India Samsung has already released Froyo update for Galaxy 3 through Kies almost a week back early around 10-Apr-11. Official Samsung India Froyo update on Galaxy 3 is awesome. It took me just 20-25 minutes through latest Kies MTNL broadband connection at 1 AM to upgrade. There was no need to restore contacts, applications or SMS,. Kies is beautiful software to upgrade. From the market it is not available.If you try to do it through the Swype installer aplication (by registering in swypeinc.com) ,it will not update as there is already a Swype application exists which is of prebuilt binary. So finally have to root it through the superoneclick aplication,remount the /system directory ,remove the existing swype.apk and run the swype installer application--- Boom!!!!

I really love this phone, however I have a few issues with it... The battery life is dreadful and it's always connected to 3G even when I turn all Internet connections off, this is Probably draining the battery... It used to show me my balance after every text message and now it doesn't... The camera quality is awful... My old phOne had a 2 megapixel camera and was great, this phone is supposed tO have a 3 megapixel camera and to be blunt it looks like a 0.3 megapixel camera if that even exists... Apart from that it's a good phone, the app store is good, the text conversation layout is good :) and I would recommend it but the issues I have pointed out are very disappointing because I do not have time to charge my phone every evening...

if swype is not working, try to install it from the android market and then try to use it. i have not updated it yet so i cant be sure about this idea but it might just work

So Finally had to go to the Samsung Service Center to get it re-imaged. All the data was lost and had to pay Rs 110 for Software Updates. All the issues sorted out except that Swype is not working. The Service Center manager has said that he will get back to me with the solution by mid of next week. Observations after the upgrade: 1) Galaxy 3 runs faster 2) GPS is getting locked without GPS Optimizer app. Exploring more. Note: Probably if you take directly to the service center for the upgrade it would be free of cost, they charged me because probably the upgrade didn't happen properly through Kies.

update sucks.. u cant use swype..u cant silence an incoming call(which u earlier cud by pressing volume keys)..gallery appears to be faster bt takes too much time when u open a pic..web browsing ws better in 2.1..u cant set a blank home screen...it always resets to google..its also slower..waits for 3-4 secs after u enter address and then starts opening the site..dosent even respond at times..if u havent yet updated..pls dont..

Those having USB connection problem try reinstalling the latest version of kies 2 software and also use a sd card as little as 2 GB. It worked for me. Trying to update without a micro sd card or a card of 8GB or 16 GB resulted in a failure for me.

Friends, am from kolkata and just finished upgrading 2.2 some 4hours ago. The phone is now running much smoother than eclair. I just phoned my brother through yahoo messenger(downloaded from market) & it was flawless on airtel 2G network. All other previous apps r working fine. One bad news though, adobe flash is not supported till now for this smartphone. But live tv like aaj tak, cnbc etc are running ok.

When I connect the phone using a USB cable, I can only get a blue screen on phone, where it says 'Connected' and thats all. I was able to upgrade to Froyo successfully but seems like the phone is not working now, For any incoming calls the Dialer is getting force closed, number is not being displayed and getting the following error: Sorry! U don't need kies for connecting internet from mobile to internet. As soon as u connect USB cable to PC it pop's up some option on phone from which u need to select PC internet. This is how it works on windows hopw it should be same for MAC also

Today when I connected my phone to Kies I got the following window: Current Firm Version: PDA:JG6/PHONE:JG6/CSC:JG6 (INU) Latest Firmware Version: PDA:JP2/PHONE:JP2/CSC:JP2 (INU) Searching for PDA:JP2 got to know that its Official FROYO 2.2 version. Hey buddy, if you in any of the south Asian countries then i have bad news, the Android v2.2 is still not available for Galaxy 3, have been waiting for a long time and have no hopes of it arriving soon as well. So all the best , would suggest to go for a phone which is already in V2.2 rather than waiting for the update. Apart from that the phone is great gave no problem to me , have been using it for the last 6 months.

Updates are bound to come soon, some already have updated. i agree on the fact that there are more options but amongst those he said this is better imo. The only flaw is the resolution n flash support. Audio is spectacular supports xvid upto D1, browser is better, speaker is loud enough, music player is eye candy, 667 mhz processer, messaging with swipe both in portrait and landscape mode, very good 3.2 snapper, a social and an eye candy experience. Plus it's cute in white and sexy in black!

Personal opinion, even I own Galaxy 3 for almost last 8 months now and desperately waiting for Froyo update which is still a distant dream. So someone who is thinking of buying a new Android phone, in my personal opinion should go for the one which is already running on 2.2 since they are in plenty in the market either from Samsung (Galaxy 551) or from other brands rather than buying the phone and then waiting for Froyo update.

good phone but avoid if using for sat nav because gps does not work on these phones! i ve had 2 and tried every fix i have found online and none work for me. google it gps on these phones have lots of problems.

Great little phone, just a greeat phone, better than the iphone as its a great phone. The GB's are bigger, and the MP's are more better, it also has the WIFI's and a SUPER AMOLED capacative touch screen. Great little phone for someone who doesnt need to spend all their monnies on apples.

battery life is very good as it uses the same 1500 battery as my galaxy s, remember to task kill apps after use to free space and not kill battery, also turn off bluetooth, wifi and gps etc if not being used and this will help too.

Ok brought this phone on 7 jan 2011 and 2 months now this is one awesome phone..............was having problem with balance deduction due to internet use which i never used but that was airtel indias fault.... 1 awesome touch 2 awesome processor and bluetooth 3 and those who complain about battery backup just charge the phone fully after 99% until it says battery full charge remove the charger also get task killer and one or two other apps and this phone works as a charm ............... i charge it daily once and i watch a movie on it almost every day about 22 hours ...........surf internet the whole day and text and calls and never faced battery backup problem also i download many things directly on it via torrent ..also download a cache cleaner and root the phone its easy......android assistant might also help

Well this one has much better display if you compare to the galaxy mini. Resolution is better and it provides 16 million colours but the galaxy mini only 256 thousand colours. This one also has an autofoxus camera. Where as the galaxy mini has a 3.2 mp without autofoxus.

You can use mvideo player. I use it in my galaxy s and it works great. I have noticed that it consumes less ram than the stock video player so it gives better video playback time. For music player I would highly recommend poweramp music player.. It is aweasome.. The equalizer and the amplifier setting is great. You can also control the music player from lock screen.. My final recommendation is quickpic.. It is a photo browser. It is not as fancy as the android 3d gallery but it is faster and it shows the picture in full resolution..

This phone has the much awaited bluetooth v3 which has transfer rates of more than 24mbps. I couldn't find this in any other phones in the same price range. most phones like nokia c6 has only the old v2 in it. This has a processor speed of more than 633mhz which delivers excellent speeds. You can notice the difference when you scroll through something. The touch panel is very sensitive and can recognise even the slightest touch. Waiting for the official froyo release that comes in april. Google claims its 3 to 5 times faster than eclair and had flash support for web. Google also claims it improves battery backup. Not sure about this.

Hi ruchi.. You can install a program called 'application protection' from android market. You can lock gmail and google talk using that. This will prevent others from checking your mails using galaxy. To can send all mails you get from a specific person to a folder within gmail itself. For that you can create a filter. You can access that from labels within gmail application itself. Hope this helps.. Cheers..!

hardest battery test i did 1.removed the charging when it said fully charged. 2.used hard way with all the stuff ie 2hrs of games,edge networks was on all the time 2hrs of general internet, 1.5hrs of messaging chatting on gtalk,yahoo,1hrs of mailing, 45min on call, 2.5hrs of video, 40min of music.and some 20min of gps and map, another 30min of other apps usage. 3.with doing all these i still got 21hrs 34min of back up.so i feel its got enough juice and works well.

it is very complicated phone for user interface.and one imp thing is that android is not much different os than symbian s60 v5 . i used both os from last year .my own experience is symbian is still more developed than android in some aspects because symbian os developed from past 7 years and android developed from past 2 year. symbian is more secured from viruses than android. and mad retailers shows that android os is upgraded to new versions but symbian(nokia) fermware can be upgraded on every 6 months.trust me because i am in google india for engineer.

danish my friend it is multasking phone. u can use it by long pressing home key. u also can make a call while downloading and receive too. just use this phone for a day to clear ur dout. yes battery backup is poor but it can be imptove by task manager, atleast. gor a day with 24 hr net on. gaming experience is great though it has 2.1 eclair.on the othere hand O1 has better resolution this is just a difference. O2 comes with 2.2froyo but at this stage it has to be more better than g3. g3 can be upgrade to 2.2 froyo while O1 upgradable to v2.3. i hope with 2.3 upgrade it will become better. g3 has faster processor than O1 and hardware is capable to support gingerbread OS too if samsung allows. at same cost these are the phones. hope you get some information to choose ur dream piece.

@pheng : app2sd is not an app on the market. Its a feature in android 2.2 where in if a particular app supports app2sd, You can move it to the sdcard, thereby freeing up some space on your internal memory.

there is no prob regarding youtube.it plays all videos in high quality format, we can not manually choose low quality format to play. so it requires high bit rates. there is no option for choosing low quality thats like in java phones or symbian one. so we cant treat this issue as prob.here is one solution switch to 3g network. if u wanna check low bit rate videos just watch live tv from any software or go to yesjar.com but this link does not work some time.

1.it supports editing and viewing of all the doc.in simple words it can do everything Microsoft office can do on your pc(just a little bit slow for big files) 2.about the mails please specify what kind.well if you talking of all the general one like gmail yahoo etc it supports without any problem.if saying of the office mails few are not been able to sync. 3.about Bluetooth well you can play songs on,transfer files even connect pc to net through it.about wifi well it hasn't given any problem for me.(only thing i haven't tried is making my mobile a wifi host) hope these are all your quarries.ask in specific if you want to know anything more.happy to help

It is a good idea to wait although it may take until April to be available and as for cost, from all likelihood the phone may be placed slightly higher than the Galaxy 3 as a lower mid-range phone. If it replaces the Galaxy 3, it would hit the sweet spot. Hope for that.

hello, one thing i want want to say ,android dont have any problem and bugs but the apps on market are buggy and those are decreasing the performance of android devices.so be carefull installing untrusted apps.use oly stable apps. most of the problem posted here are regarding GPS and battery backup. so here are some solutions:- GPS:- GPS provided in this phone is good but most people dont know how to use.this weekend we had a trip to kerala and beleive me this phone really helped us in navigation.for using gps the things u need are:- 1. u should have internet connection for downloading the maps. 2. u should be in open space. 3. if u want fast sattelite locking use agps feature.just enable it.in my phone with agps it takes only 10 second to lock and that is when i was travelling with 80kmph speed. while travelling in car i was getting location accuracy with in 100metre and at standing position it was as good as 3m. that figures are decent not excellent for a mobile phone because this is not a dedicated navigation console. Battery problem:- 1. keep ur gps,wifi,bluetooth off when there is no need.many times i dont know they are on or off,because so many apps in android use these services like layar,navigation,maps etc. 2. in india 3g is not there so put your mobile on gsm mode. go to settings->wireless and network->mobile networks->network mode. 3. if u dont want real-time connection with google account then keep auto sync off.Doing that will improve battery backup significantly. so go to setting->account and sync and uncheck background data. 4. use task killer application etc or there is a option running services in settings->applications.make a shortcut of that on desktop.that will be very helpfull in exiting processes. last use your smart phone smartly.we need to learn multitasking android.

1.well its the way kies work it always transfers file in m4v format.if you don't have problem with time continue with it.this phone supports all the avi formats.to copy it just follow below steps. a.go to settings-about phone-usb setting-click on ask when connect. b.when you connect to your pc on mobile click mass storage.then one drop down there is a notification click it and press mount on pop up. c.you will get the sd to card of mobile as a pendrive in your pc.copy the avi file to it.you can play it using video player. restrictions-you can't play mkv and rv file and the file size must not be greater then 1gb. 2.well the method you said to switch off you net is called dummy apn method.well it doesn't cause problem to your mobile its one of the good way to do that.just thing is that you have go to setting and follow many steps.using apnDroid you will get a widget which you can keep on home screen.just a single click switch it of and viceversa.

1.On your SD card, / media/audio / notifications is where you store files to use as a ringtone to sms or any other notifications(If these folders aren' t there , just create them). 2.reboot your mobile(switch off and on) 3.go to setting-sounds and display-notifications ringtone and your music will be there set it note -only mp3 and wma are supported. hope this is helpful.

I really like my Samsung Galaxy 3. However I am struggling with upgrading him to 2,2 (Froyo) Anyone who knows how to do that?

i've wifi in our college and dont require any pwd. Bt i am unable to connect to android market to download game.. this is my 1st android kindly help me thru.. i give my email n pwd. it says setting up with google server and it might takes 5 mins. Bt shows failure after wards. i dont hav proble connecting to net thru browser. same problem arises wenevr i use youtube gtalk googlemail i.e althose that cme along with the fone.. kindly help me thru as it is frustrating nt to hav any app on android..:(..:P

well i am currently using a galaxy 3...,. and i wud defenitly say of the three go for the galaxy3. wildfire is also gued. but slow. eats up charge faster.and is like 4k costlier and optimus i usd tht too... but prefered de galxy 3 btr. if u had optimus 1 as an option i wud ask u to chek de both phone tog... bt yaa galaxy 3 is deff a gued buy fr tht price.

hi i don't use skyfire as my net speed is too low but i can help you with freezing thing in YouTube application following the bellow given steps. 1.go to settings-application-manage application 2.left click-filter-all 3.click on YouTube clear cache and data. well this will get rid of freezing up on YouTube apps.

Hey Nilesh. Looks like u r an expert. I read ur comments n downloaded skyfire n it plays youtube videos really fast. But from skyfire the video n audio quality is very poor. Also from my youtube application the videos wont play n most times stops after 10 secs if it starts playing. Any solution for this pls? Can quality be improved in skyfire??

To set fixed ip you can set in phone wifi settings-"advanced settings" with lower left botton, but I don't recommend this (will have impact on all wifi connections) There is a free tool on the market called "wifi static" Use this to set IP to fixed for specific access points. Set all, so IP,subnet,gateway and DNS !! In my case I need to set IP to static at my work, because 'corporate' WIFI with DHCP doesn't work for me. There are more dhcp issues noted on the general android platform, so the "wifi static" tool could be a lifesaver for now :-)

it is same as in ipod touch quick charge gets it to charge up to 80percent with first hour of charge then for the next 20percent it needs another 2.5hours of charging.i think you have never charged for straight 3.5hrs that's why you seeing max 90percent of charge.

I am using Glaxay 3 since Oct-2010.I am NOT NOT happy with service.If you are on Vodafone network then Galaxy3 is having call dropped issue.And once the call is dropped you cannot recieve call and reach any one for next 3-5 mins. Most upsetting part is ,If you try to reach someone the phone charges get charged even when the call is not connected. Sumsung and Vodafone service centers are playing blame games... Sumsumg said they will get back but till date onbody has called me.

1.yes it has virtual keyboard in both landscape and portrait mode 2.yes it has copy paste mode for text anywhere in the whole mobile 3.no it doesn't support any Indian language.

1.every one gets confused with java (i too got confused with it).it support one the java only on web not the application on mobile. 2.well it will be updated to froyo for sure.but don't know of gingerbread. it has all the requirement to get gingerbread but its left to Samsung if they want to update or not.

hi sorry i don't have card reader well as for you have said the format the card is been written on is undetectable so better put the formatted card in phone den using the usb cable connect your phone to pc and copy that may help.

no problem only i want a new mobile as m a mobile geek.. no its not truth symbian 3 even doesn have many apps n all the good apps r paid..no good hd games in symbian in bada there are approx 2000 apps ryt now n more r coming everyday..many things in wave r inbuilt..like call recorder,scientific calculator,file hider etc plus bada 1.2 is only one month away..

Hi I put my micro sd card 16GB Kingston into the phone and from there I make format. After that I choice save to remove and put into my Eee PC notebook card reader with SD CARD adapter and directly with windows explorer (I use windows XP) copy files, all folders into it, movies, jpg, ... (data almost 12-14GB) after long time of copy (2-4hour) I put my card to phone. I'm trying 3-4 times first time when I put the card into the phone, phone show as error card and can not recognize, I format again and try again second time phone recognize the card but some of the data where lost on the card and some not accessible I'm interesting maybe has some problem because I copy files to SD card directly with windows explorer not with SAMSUNG KIES or if this is irrelevant maybe then the micro sd card is damaged. Please if you have card reader to try to copy data with it to see if it will work fine. Thanks and regards please can you

at all the optimus guys who cursed the galaxy 3 saying that it has greater game support with graphics. HERE IS LIST OF GAMES WHICH RUNS VERY WELL ON GALAXY 3 BUT NOT AT ALL ON OPTIMUS 1.angry bird 2.slice it(too lagey for optimus) 3.shoot em up. 4.zynga poker (won't gets log in tried many times on OPTIMUS) there are many more as my friend say won't run on his optimus but i haven't personally tested them

hi there well i use 16gb sandisk microsd well it works without any problem or lag.i don't use adaptor i directly connect my mobile to pc using usb or Bluetooth.i didn't get what exactly your problem is.is it not detecting on your mobile or it is not sync with the data.

opera mini java i think it won't work. but opera has 2version for android itself one is opera mini which is good for low speed and another opera 10.1 for high speed.they are available in android market as well as opera web site.

Everyone should stop complaining about the battery life. This phone has exceptional battery life for a smart phone. The Nexus One's battery drains so much faster than this phone's. I have personally no problem with the phone's battery. One charge every 1-2 days and it's fine. If this is the first time you're using a smart phone, you should learn to use task managers, lower brightness, etc. to conserve battery. Smart phones drain the battery like hell because they can do so much more.

Please tell me can you connect your card directly to PC card reader and on that way to transfer files into it and than to put card in your phone. Hi, I'm using galaxy3 mobile for the past 2 weeks. I've below issues 1. I'm not able to see the calendar -day/month view as it asks me to sign with google. As I don't have data connection, I'm not able to use calendar. Worst/Stupid idea to ask sign with google to show simple calendar as Rs.1000 (20$) mobile can show calendar superbly. 2. Battery backup is worst, comes just for 1.5 days, not even talking for 5 mins a day.

it will helps you 1) battery backup improves. download mini task manager to close applications to free ram and memory. 2) create any dummy network setting and select it when u wish to not use net to avoid data uses. without using any software so no memory consume. 3) install opera mini 5.1 it is faster. install skyfire which support flash and plays video on full screen and more quickly. default you tube not plays it well, full screen and takes more time. 4) install Uc browser and use it to download movie or larger memory data. it has facilities to pause,resume, shows downloading speed and after even downloading fails or mobile get switched off downloading can be resume from where it was at last point. m using this phone. great one, thanks

it can be done without installing any application. just. go to setting wireless and network setting mobile network, access point and select any dummy network which is not working. so good create any dummy network first.
