Not a bargain at any price. Powers off even when battery reads 40% [and if I try to take A PICTURE, even when battery is over 50%]. "Unfortunately", I always get the unfortunately whatever Google app I want at the time has stopped working. Goes into airplane mode for no apparent reason. I'm sure that my lack of tech savvy accounts for some of the problems. And that's exactly why I would discourage anyone looking for that first smartphone to avoid this contraption like the plague.

You need to remove the back to access the memory card slot. There is no user-facing camera on this model, only the one on the back of the phone.

The camera is terrible. It suddenly turns off and on when it crashes despite it not being very old. (And crashes kinda often). The good part is that it works pretty well calls and it has nice volume. It is good if you dont use it as a gadget but just as a regular phone.

I installed cyanogenmod 13 in my Moto E 1st gen... but there is a problem occurred, showing as no sim card. I tried many ways to fix it.. Finally I got a better solution from here It may be useful for others may be.

Very good phone. Using it for 2.5 years now. Performance is very good. No problems till now. Good for games too. I play gta vice city without any lags on it. The camera is very poor tho. Best part about the phone is it's battery life which is quite amazing!

Re flash the stock rom, you might need to unlock bootloader not sure but I had the same problem and I reflashed the stock rom with unlocked bootloader and it worked fine after that.

Rooting moto e is very easy, might be a bit tricky if doing the first time, first you need to unlock the bootloader, then custom bootloader needs to be installed after that do as you please Installed Cyanogenmod 14 on my Moto E 1st Gen, thanks to the contributors at cyanogenmod search on google/youtube for complete walkthrough.

For short money, this phone is a good value. Twice as fast as my old Alcatel One Touch Evolve. This is not a gamer phone so all you little boys and girls can go cry to mommy and daddy for a Galaxy S or iPhone. For practical use and productivity it fits the bill. I put 32GB micoSD card in mine, loaded VLC media player, Google Hangouts, email apps, bank apps, credit card apps, Paypal, FB Messenger, and still have ample internal memory left over for "fluff" apps. I can store hours and hours of audio and video on the SD Card for playback. WI-FI strength seems a tad on the weak side compared to other WI-FI devices I have. Also, 5MP camera is a pretty weak resolution [and no flash] so don't buy this phone if you expect high quality photos and video. I had the OS hang on me at one point after a few months of use so I made sure my Google Sync was enabled and up to date and factory defaulted the phone. Upon signing back into to Google, all my apps were re-installed by Google sync. Good as new! My only complaint is a simple one that all Android phones encounter - apps that you cannot completely uninstall. I learned that rooting is better suited to higher end phones that you purchase separately from a plan bundle like I did with mine from StraightTalkWireless. Overall I give the phone a 7 out of 10.

It was my first phone. I purchased it in 2014 as soon as it was launched. It worked well for 1year. But after that it started dying with sudden restarts, non functioning speakers, low battery life,etc. But since last one and half month I was facing the problem while calling . When number was dialled blank white screen was coming and mobile was getting restart. That was not enough I even couldn't receive calls, WiFi ,hotspot, Bluetooth stopped working. Hi I have a Moto E with Straight Talk. My phone kept freezing up I called them they had me do a factory restore i did it and it was fine a week later kept freezing up I did another factory restore now I'm getting an activation screen saying please wait for instructions but no instructions come it has a phone screen that's blacked out. My only option is to click activate and I get a message saying mobile networks not available or I can click skip go to language page with only option for emergency dialer and go to a home screen but nothing works wifi is blacked out can't turn it on. I called straight talk 3 times they don't know what to do. I'm so frustrated I have no phone now. So I'm stuck not being able to access my phone after restore. Any help please would be appreciated.

This phone was my 1st smart phone on Republic Wireless and it is a great basic smart phone. I paid 99 dollars for it new in 2014 and have really enjoyed it. Don't expect to install a lot of information on it as you only get 2gbs of on board memory but it has a long lasting 1.5 day battery, a good screen, and great durability for being an entry level smartphone. If you just need a phone for talk and text and some minimal web browsing this is a great option.

I purchased a Moto E last November. It crashed yesterday morning. Since then, I have been on the phone with 8-10 different people (between Verizon and Motorola) to fix it. I had to change my Google password and was told to wait 24 hours and to continue with the factory reset. The phone still won't take my Google password and when I tried calling Motorola, all I get now are busy signals or 20+ minute waits. The phone is crap. Motorola customer service is crap. Verizon customer service is crap. Do not purchase this phone.

Screen is having a scratch then what is the use of gorilla screen. One side screen color has changed with yellowish. I strongly recommend not to take any of the products from Motorola.

I've had this for a good couple years... It was a decent phone until about 10 months ago where it just started to lag horribly, apps kept crashing and, the worst part is that it randomly turns off and turned on again and the date and time reset to the last time it happened. It's a great starter phone though, but I wouldn't be able to give a well informed opinion because my knowledge on these things is extremely low :)

After 2 years with this phone, i would say that it has served me well. But after 1 year i could not wait to get rid of it. I was faced by random reboots each and every time i would press the power button for too long then after awhile my mic/ speaker would always need to be 'hit' to start working again especially after the use of earphones.

I have the Straight Talk XT830C variant, and the specs aren't as good as I would like, but the durability is very good. I lost it in a field for 2 months, and when I finally found it, it had been through several storms and a bullet had ricocheted off the screen. I put it on the charger, and it turned on, no problems. The screen worked but slightly discolored around the deep scratch where the bullet skimmed over. So it is a great phone in durability standards.

Moto E dual Sim (I Generation) is a very basic module with just 2.2 GB internal memory with no front camera. It comes with Android ver 4.x, but Lollipop upgrade is available. But with Lollipop upgrade, the phone sucks. Google itself will take about 1.47 GB of space with minimal app settings, remaining space is just peanuts, Cannot install any further apps. No Front camera. For the price quoted, not worth it. The WIFI adapter is not good, I am currently facing issues with Unify WIFI in Malaysia, WIFI signal either drop or weak very frequently. Moto phones are not in demand in Malaysia. I thought of exchanging, I was shocked to hear the refund offered, Just 50 Ringitt, Minimum smartphone price is 250 Ringitt.

But recently it hasnt been working so good. when i press the power on button while the phone is on sometimes the phone will restart itself without me actually wanting it to. Don't update to 5.1!!! You'll lose most of the available memory and be unable to have more than about 3 apps loaded. I'm getting rid of it! That'll teach me to say Yes to a software update without checking it out first. ....as if I didn't already know that.

You can release some amount of memory by disabling few bloatware apps which for sure you might not be using for e.g. Google Play Books, Games, Movies, etc this will release some memory if not all. Other than that try moving apps from Phone to SD card as many as possible.

I agree with others - Moto E (2nd gen) is an epic fail with Lollipop. Took 3 reboots to get thru activation, then 40 lockup/reboots to get thru all the updates. Every time u use a Google Play program, it locks and reboots. Even after factory reset, all was well until I tried to update Gmail and it said Google Play Services update was required. Then everything went to crap and it reboots incessantly, even with most Google apps disabled. Epic crap.

After lollipop its working well only few thing should be checked like if your battery is draining fast uncheck the sync option and disable the apps which you are not using them so that it will give good perfotmance... Good luck 😊

Don't make me laugh! This phone will never get Android 5, even though the box had a sticker on the side which said "Android 5 ready" (which was why I bought it). Lenovo didn't own the brand when this phone shipped. Lollipop is already a year overdue on some of Lenovo's own products (e.g: TAB S8-50F), the chances of them upgrading one of someone else products is less than zero.

I bought this 2nd Gen Moto E a couple of months ago. It's been one problem after another. A huge mistake. The latest is a complete fail of my texting. It was only restored after literally several hours of research and the help of a live Tech Support Supervisor. I had to perform a hard reset to help restore texting, but before I did, I followed VZ's instructions and used "Backup Assist Plus" to backup my contacts. The app reported that my phone was compatible with the app and backed up my contacts. Then it proved impossible to restore them using the app, or finding out otherwise how to do so from VZ's website. The VZ website support was virtually worthless - I couldn't find any simple, direct instructions for using Backup Plus. In fact, there appears to be little in the way of Moto E support. Most searches directed me to Moto X, the prior platform with increasingly dissimilar features and presentation. Overall, a very poor experience with both this Motorola product and Verizon. I'm going back to Iphones and ATT. Never thought I'd say that.

Everyday my Moto E turns itself off without warning, at least once or twice a day. Three times in the 7 months I have had it I have needed to get a new SIM card after it broke the first two, converting them into Network SIM Unlock mode. The memory says 4GB but only 2.1GB is usable, which frankly is not enough. I have it sent off for repairs at the moment, but as of now I would absolutely NOT recommend one.

No portable hotspot. That sucks. Renamed to WiFi direct. Able to connect but no Internet. Many bugs. 1.2ghz is weak/slow. Would be better if it was 2.1 or higher. Maybe that's why it's called a affordable mobile. Speaker is not that clear. My mp3s are 256kbs vbr. Audio fr headphone jack is good. When turned up, you could hear imperfections from speaker. I had a HTC first. Speaker was good. No bugs besides app bugs. 2.1ghz was decent for speed. The only thing bad was its only Android 4.1.2. My conclusion. If I was able to afford a better mobile; I would.

Paste a cello tape over it problem solved. Nice formfactor. Rather clean GUI without extra (like Samsung, HTC and other) Small internal storage (2GB) If you install many apps the phone will becom slow. You need to put in an SD-card if you plan to take photos and videos. There vere no battery charger included in purchase for me. The charging has been working bad, sometimes its not working at all. The sound of the speaker is crappy when you talk to people. I like the idea with an almost clean Android but the hardware quality is too bad. I want buy a cheap Motorola again.

this is actually a very poor phone. The capacitive buttons are on screen, so it ends up being less than 4" viewable. It only has 4GB total storage (only half that is user available). Camera is fixed-focus (no auto-focus or close-ups), no front camera and a non-removable 1980 mAh battery. There are much better phones for a similar price.

Phone is realy good and screen display is like in samsung. But not everything is good: - There is no under screen buttons - so if before you had samsung, huawei or any other android phone with buttons (menu, back, show desktop) - it will take time to wont change. - There is no earphones and charger in box (Tesco Mobile UK) - Camera is worth nothing - I cant take good enought picture of text on paper sheet (for google translator). Text is blurred, and cant be reckognised. In my opinion, matrix resolution 5MP is ok, but optic in this phone is realy bad. - Battery is unchangable - its internal part of phone. You cant change it if broken. - I have experienced problem witch charging. It was after connecting phone to PC (with kubuntu) as MTP device. Solution is to connect it again and before unplug - change connection mode to PTP.

Has at least two problems: 1. Just in case you happen to drain the battery fully (for example if you couldn't put it for charging before the battery drained fully), you had it! It takes anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours for your phone to charge and be back up normally. This is horrible. Even the cheapest phones come back to life within minutes of putting them for charging. 2. Sound has gone away. No phone ringing, no media sound! No fix known. You have waste your half day to drive down to the service center and put up with bureaucracy (where is this number, that number, and all that crap) I think Motorolla (now google) is dumping this phone into the market a low price because of these and potentially more such issues.

Moto E fits my bill greatly - fast, slick, smooth, first in line for OS updates (expecting Lollipop any day now)... Just awesome. EXCEPT for the camera - the fixed focus is so, so, SO annoying! Bad photo quality aside - it basically doesn't work with bar/QR-code scanning. At all! And code scanning is an almost indispensable feature nowadays. Moto E simply doesn't cut it here. Darn shame.

it is a pretty nice phone for a very attractive price. despite price it feels nice in the hand, back cover looks and feels cool not cheaply at all. Maybe only downside is non removable battery which u can not take out if phone freezes. battery charges fast. from ten to max for about 2 hours. so in this price range it is must have I even would pay more for this moto e smartphone. it is worth money.

This would have been the perfect phone if two issues didn't exist. 1. Fixed focus camera (I got over it). 2. The random reboots. The reboots happen because of a manufacturing defect on the motherboard. Usually when you press the Power button to unlock the screen. This is a greatly documented issue on the Motorola Owners Forum, and apparently there's a huge batch of Moto E that came with it. The issue isn't huge on mine (I've had like five or six reboots on the three months I have been using it) but there's people with several reboots every day, and it has become a nightmare. You can feel the low quality build in the loose back cover and the weak side buttons (this doesn't happen with Moto G, the back cover is firm and the side buttons do a "click" and they feel solid when you press them). I can't stand if my phone starts to reboot frequently at a random day if the board falls to the manufacturing defect. I'll be buying something better next year, and it's sad because, overall and without this issue, Moto E is really great and I like it.

The moto e is budget phone, and like all budget phones there is compromises: the camera is not good, there is not huge amount of space on the device (2.21GB available to user) and the battery is non removable. Competitors to Moto E usually offer removable battery and better camera with flash, but usually competitor (huawei lg samsung etc) devices have the tradeoff that they dont update their low end android devices and they are running heavily skinned android 4.1 or something like that on poor specs and the phone is laggy. Pick your poison: do you want moto e, great user experience with stock android and guaranteed system update to lollipop but poor camera or do you want samsung/lg with better camera and removable battery but non existant or poor software support. Personally, moto e is the best offering in its price range when it comes to android devices. Moto G might be the better choice, it has better camera and the 2014 version has a sd card slot, but it is more expensive. In my country it is twice as expensive as moto e and i do not think of it worth it at that price.

I have been facing an issue with my Moto E since yesterday. No alarm, no sound, no speaker phone...the vibration works though. I can make and receive calls and hear clearly through headphone as well as earpiece. I can listen to music through earphones. Without the earphones there's no sound. The volume rocker works. I have tried the settings too. All good. Restarted the audio manager service too. Still the same. Tried safe mode. Still the same issue. Talked to moto customer care, they directed me on the phone to clear some cache partition. This is how it's done. Clear cache partition Another option that may correct the problem is clearing your partition. This will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings. 1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN key for 2-3 seconds then press and release the POWER key . 2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS 3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to SELECT Tip: If the device reboots, you have probably waited to long to make a selection and will need to begin the process again. 4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark) 5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key. 6. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE) 7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to Wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to SELECT this option. 8. The device will then perform the partition wipe 9. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence Still the same. They are asking me to visit a service center. Is there a way to check if the speaker is working? Any device codes that can be used to check the hardware? Or any way to re-install audio drivers? Not even sure if it's a hardware or software issue. I'm missing my messages and call notifications. It's as good as having a pager. Not in the mood to try factory reset. You could try using Motorola Device Manager software? I don't have a Windows machine so will take a while before I can try. Would suggest this model for me? I currently own Sansung Galaxy Beam, which I love it but it has been showing a lot of problems lately and it got extremely slow even without installing many apps. It's also stuck with Ginger Bread... I think that maybe you were just unluck. I have an Galaxy Beam that doesn't even have protection and yet it survived many falls. But that was this one day which my cellphone slipped my pocket and although I tried to save it by pulling the earphone's cable it hit the ground. It was very small fall but it hit the ground in a way that made ahuge crack on the screen and since then it started to show many other problems. I've had this phone around 3 weeks, and just this evening I've noticed some sort of printed mark with a red spotted box around it, anyone have any idea what this could be? Also the back cover keeps bending and falling off. It keeps slowing down and sometimes shuts down automatically. I've been very careful with my phone. hello guys i ordered moto e via flipkart and it might get delivered tomorrow but after googling around a bit i have some questions in find 1. is the back cover so loose that it might cause trouble in day to day usage and can a 3rd party case prevent it from irritating me 2. also i found out in moto forums and xda that there are some network issues and some RED triangle often occurs and no network is available until one pulls back the sim out and again puts it in and the issue keeps on recurring after few hours(also some say that when a cut sim i.e. from normal to microsim using cutter, is used this issue occurs while if a micro sim is separately bought from store then no such issue occurs 3. also i found numerous issues of phone speakers going dead help me out guys...i've got my heart stuck on this handset and i want to know how much serious these issues are and whether these issues are for masses or for a handful of people thanks in advance

One can't happily use it as a primary phone 3. Battery is good 4. Network reception, wifi connectivity are so so... 5. Little heavy 6. Good loud speaker and ear piece performance 7. Camera just bad 8. You can make video calls through back camera I tested. 9. Back panel is not tight, its moving even after proper sitting. 10.screen is decent. 11.bundled charger and earphones are too basic. 12.gaming is decent. 13.No heating issues. Sometimes most of the apps keep running in the background which causes the battery to drain.you should also go to settings and change the location settings to low power mode.Also try formatting your mobile.If the problem persists then there's another possibility that you might be keeping data connection (net)on during your sleep.try not to do that as apps like Facebook whatsapp use your data pack to download images if you have chosen that on the settings in whatsapp and also to refresh the newsfeed in Facebook.

Ordered it online through flip kart. The Phone has a great screen it is handy, stock android appears to have fewer benefits. Pros Battery is Good Screen is Great Phone is handy Cons Power button if a bit finicky, hard and edgy press is required ever time screen goes off. The music player provided by stock android platform is pathetic it appears to automatically delete the playlist. The equiliser appears to have no option for users. It has presets which did not made a lasting impression. Camera Quality is pathetic it is not worth it is unable to scan text. Even basic phones are today able to the basic text scanning. Sound quality is ok the ear piece appears to have a blown out sound quality. Not value for money phone. For INR 7000 other phones could have done a better job.

This is a great phone for the money but the sound out of earphones when playing music is truly poor. This is definitely a property of the phone as well; when using my soundmagic e10s in an iPhone the sound is great, in the moto e it is very tinny. This is a shame as otherwise it is a great phone. Would definitely recommend yo anyone with an iPod or other mp3 player.

My experience: Camera: its ok when take normal photos, colours very nice, but macro pictures useless without auto-focus. Panorama pictures ugly. Speakers: sounds clear. The front speaker help you hear the ringtone, when the phone is on the table. I like it. Display: beautiful... the glass have purple shining. The viewing angles are poor... and the glass have strange marks if you see it from a special angle. Performance: very smooth, thanks for the stock android. Games running good. Antutu score 12666. When I run the test, in the big hall, where the fishes and statues are, the FPS drops to 16. Feeling: beautiful device. Premium feeling. Weight little heavy. Kitkat: the only problem is, you have only 2,2 GB free space, and big games cannot move to SD-card. You can move only the data files, but this a small piece of the application. So you can't install a lots of big games. GPS navigation: perfect. Don't lose the signal, and very precise. Wifi: I haven't any problem with that. Battery: 1 day with medium use. I recommend this phone everyone, who don't want take macro pictures (documents), and don't want to play big games. Everything works well, not just working... not any annoying bug.

Ultra Hyped because of Ultra Cheap Hardware from Rivals After using two weeks, I am not going to discuss specifications of the phone. I will tell you the real pro and cons of the phone. Cons: 1. Camera : it is a nightmare when you need to take pictures of nearby objects like documents. Otherwise camera will work fine. My Rating 3/5 2. Heating Problem: Heats very much while playing games like Angry Birds. It is quite normal, but I feel it is overheating a little. 3/5 3. High SAR Value, Thrice to Samsung n Nokia Phone. A huge disappoint for me. Be assured that you will get headache if used for long period of time.(0/5) 4. I got a black phone with White color cheap headset. Produce crackling sound at high volumes. Rating 2/5 5. Phone doesn't have a file manager, so be sure to install ES FIle explorer from playstore. Very small issure for me. 6. ON 2 G connection Playstore starts downloading applications but stops in the middle, say after 1-2 Mb of download. You need to disable data and enable it again to resume downloading of app. On wifi, it works fine. I have to download apks from other websites, because playstore was creating problems on 2G. 2G connection work very fine and stable. Pros: 1. Touch very responsive. Just like apple's . Auto correct feature is very nice if you are sending messages in English, otherwise you need to train it.(5/5) 2. I installed Temple Run, Subway surfers, Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Moto Racing, No lag so far. Moved apps to SD cards easily.(5/5) 3. Display : Best in class, no bad words(5/5). Got most compliments for its display and gorilla glass. 4. Back cover doesn't feel cheap plastic but do not open it frequently otherwise it will get loose. 5. Notification Light. Nice feature. Turned off by default. 6. Finger print resistant (No). Water Resistant Yes, Water Proof- No, Scratch Resistant- upto some extent. Final words Flipkart is creating hype for it, since in this segment, Micromax , Lava etc are supplying a hardware only on Papers. They are well known for their non reliable, Ghatia Jugaad hardware. You can go for it, actually wait for it, if you can NEGLECT HIGH SAR VALUE AND a useless camera for nearby objects. You cannot take picture of documents, signatures , scan a barcode, QR Code scanning will also get problem if another phone is small. I hope you like my review. I have been using this handset for the last 10 days, no problems at all. Everything is good, including battery backup. Back cover is perfect, no issues. This set will keep more than 90% of the users happy as this phone handles all tasks easily. Network problem FIX : Because of the loose sim locks ..SIM card slips randomly but somehow I am able to manage this with the industrial glu.. I put a very small dot on the surface of the sim and attach with Moto E body.. Now everything is fine. but motorola should have to fix this issue..

Got the phone few days ago. Moto E functioning smooth and am not seeing any lag while playing games and multitasking.. great premium look . but i did notice a back cover issue. Back panel is moving ever when we held it. its also a general problem of Moto G and Moto E. its a defect of the back panel and i did contact Motorola and they send a new back cover as a replacement.
