Motorola Moto G4 - User Reviews

  • Phone went back to Motorola for repair. Front camera never worked afterwards. Sim1 went pop and ceased functioning shortly after. Otherwise it has been OK. Basic, but functional. Specs are as good as phones twice the price new. I paid £129 direct from Motorola. It's now down to half battery life but still works well enough. Terrible camera though. Lousy, picture quality even in HD. My Nokia N 95 still produces better images. I wouldn't buy Motorola G5 or newer based on the reliability of this device. Dual sim was my main point of purchase and it (audibly) failed just after 12 months warranty expired. Nowadays I use it mostly for a hot spot only.

  • You can upgrade this phone to Oreo and give it a new lease of life. Lenovo doesn't do this for you but you can install Oreo 8.1 for Moto G4 Plus on it with an unlocked boot loader and TWRP recovery. I did that recently and I have a stable more up to date phone 😀

  • For it's price, a very good phone! nice camera, large screen... and I have had no problem last three years

  • I bought my phone because I know Motorola is a sturdy phone. I've had my phone for 3+ years but now the phone jumps I haven't had a security patch level update since April 2018. If there is a phone out there that I can buy and will keep current without my having to continually have to look into a new phone every few years. That would be great.

  • Anyone knows how to bypass frp in this mobile?

  • Same for me, lasted a really long time but has suddenly got quite slow

  • Has been a great phone but unbearably slow now and doesn't hold charge like it used to.

  • I have owned my Moto G4 for just over 2 years. It replaced my Nokia 625 Windows phone. I have been very pleased with its performance, bearing in mind its price, though I had to do a factory reset ~1 year ago as it appeared to have run out of memory (I had formatted a 64GB SD card as internal memory). No further problems since then, though I am thinking of upgrading to a G7 Plus in the near future.

  • charging slot broken too fast

  • fine but charging port broken too fast. lol

  • Turn down the screen brightness.

  • Lovvve my MG4. the best quality pictures i get to capture and the ease of functionality of andriod and google apps is like slicing the butter.. Only problem was I accidentally dropped it on a granite floor which obviously cracked its screen still its functional but the cost of replacing the screen is way too much. I rather buy a new phone. BUT I STILL HAVE IT! It is definitely worth the money but dont drop it like it did :(

  • Worked just fine with no complaints until the charging port died after 2.5 years. Would cost more to fix than the phone was worth.

  • Have had my Moto G4 for over 1 year. It is a very functional phone. The issue I have with it is that it scrambles by itself. It makes calls on its own, send e-mailed and does a lot of other uninstructed orders. I have had to always lock my phone for it to stay calm. I had an HTC that has the same problems and gave it away

  • Completed 2yrs in g4...battery life is poor from the day of purchase ...Ghost touch is a big problem when brightness above 10%,.!!

  • Worst phone ever, battery dies after 4 months does not read simcard waste of money

  • Worst phone I have ever had...battery died within 7 months. New battery losing juice. Snaps off for no apparent reason including when battery is above 75%. Absolutely a waste of money. And oh, btw, I have very few apps installed.

  • Has issues with audio, over bluetooth. Mine has taken to periods where it isn't ringing or notifying of texts. I have to restart to get it ringing again.

  • My G4 Plus have the same problem with Ghost touches! Motorola have the worst quality control of all phone manufacturers, some G4/G4 Plus have no problem at all, my G4 is perfectly problem free, while other G4/G4 Plus have many problems, my G4 Plus have Ghost touches and a lose micro USB contact! I recommend avoiding everything made by Motorola! The problem is not Lenovo, the problem is Motorola within Lenovo! My X4 have many annoying software "features", especially the sound/beep everytime it lose network connection, and that happens far too often!

  • Reliable and decent phone. I have had it for 2.5 year now. I was thinking of buying the new Moto G6 because the battery in the Moto G4 is not designed to be user-replaceable. However, after seeing how easy it is to replace (basically 12 screws), I replaced the battery in my G4. The Moto G6 appears to be very complicated in order to replace the battery. I now have a "new" phone again with a new battery. Hopefully, I'll get 4+ years from this phone.

  • Will snap off at any given moment. Literally the most useless garbage I've ever made the mistake of purchasing

  • I cannot call or text over the wireless network when cell service is not available. In Maine my daughter has US Cellular and my service provider T- Mobile does not connect to that service. They told me that the Moto g4 is unable to make calls or text on a wireless network. Has anyone else had this problem. Solution?

  • yes it play PUBG with no lag.. Dunno about fornite as it hasn't been launched on play store yet.

  • May be ghost screening mine did it sent it in twice with problems x

  • hi everyone do you think it will support fortnite or pubg real fan

  • All three of my Moto G4 phone started with high capacity SD cards to expand the internal memory. After a few months they all developed memory errors that required removing the SD card and rebooting the phone. All data stored on the SD card was lost. Because the cards were formatted as internal memory, the cards could not be read by other devices. I will not use SD cards to expand internal memory again. They are good as extra capacity data storage for video and other large files, but I would not rely on them for permanent storage.

  • Format the sd-card as a part of the internal memory, settings-storage-sdcard-(3 dots chose format as internal storage)

  • The sd card is like an extension to your storage so you can use same way. I put in a 64 gb sd card and works perfect.

  • My phone rings 4 times for an incoming call. I have tried to get this lengthened but my service provider tells me I have the maximum time. My other mobiles rang for longer . I rarely get to answer a call. When I ring other people their phones ring for ages before going on to voicemail. My service provider advised me to contact the manufacturer. Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Try flashing original os package(rom), just make sure you read about what you need to do if you have nougat bootloader and downgrading to marshmallow. Mine is very prone to image persistence and every now and then I have to use black screen app to erase the images trapped in the display(and I don't even use it on high brightness!!).

  • the camera cover or simply the back tracsparent piece over the camera is not a glass material. it's prone to scratches

  • Can anyone tell me why my phone does not always show "answer" ~"reject" on an incoming call. I can find no way to answer the call if this does not come up

  • I have Moto G4 . I have 2 problems with this phone 1 - HOw to shift data from phone memory to SD Card 2 -The primary camera gives a hazy photo . I got the camera replaced from authorised service centre. After few days of usage the camera again clicked hazy photos ,the time lapse between replaced camera and shooting hazy photos is hardly 6 months.I want to know about options --I cannot change the camera every now and then . Does it need different type of upkeep or is there a special mechanism to click photos . Kindly advice

  • I previously had a Nokia 635 paired to my Compac II Bluetooth for my hearing aids. The phone would verbally alert me to a text and would ask if I want it read. It would also give me the option of replying to the text verbally and the phone would send it with my command. Is this same option available with the Motorola Moto G4? If not, what phone will give me that option. ( I had to give up the Nokia because it would not monitor my security cameras)

  • Just got this phone and so far like it fine. However, after upgrading to 7.0 Nougat no apps go to the SD card and I cannot transfer them from internal to the card. This is not uncommon apparently. Why did Android do this? The SD card is now useless. What can be done?

  • Exactly same problem here too. Also overheating.

  • I have the same problem

  • My wife and I have the same phone. We have the same problem. The phone has a mind of it's own. A complete resst to factory standards did not work. It started after the last android update in October 17. Motorola says "too bad. Out of warranty. Send $150 and we'll replace it." Not good!

  • im quite impressed by the moto g4, although never been a fan off moto, gd battery life , descent performing phone, , but mine mainly sits aside n sourcing the hotspot to all my other gadgets, had tempered screen n protective case since day 1, regardless off phone i get, iv had this about a year now, i cant fault it, or maybe im not expecting much as it only a phone, but id say go for one rather than say avoid

  • Probably a virus

  • Had it for about a year, it was fine until about a few months ago. It abruptly restarts itself. Also, ghost touches. Can't fix it with restart. Sometimes it's okay, sometimes it's not. Has a freaking mind of its own.

  • My own Motorola G4 just went off and did not come up again don't know what wrong

  • Not at all.

  • I love the Motorola G phone. Currently I have G4. What I hate the most since the last update is how easy it is to pocket dial the thing! I have recently it locked with pin, yet it can pocket dial, write sms, post messages, etc, whilst carrying in my pocket. Any suggestions?

  • Is the display calibration compromised on moto g4 after installing nougat update?

  • have it for almost 2years no problem up until the last update

  • this phone is junk. Sometimes it works and sometimes it goes off an errand of it's own. If you have to depend on a phone, don't depend on this one.

  • I've been using this phone since 1 year . And it works just fine . Moto is love .

  • Never

  • I would never buy a motorola phone again. I have a G4 plus. Everytime there as been a system update I have had problemns rebooting. But after the last system update, I can no longer connect to my home network. I phone motorola and talked to one of the representatives and follow all they had to say right to a factory reset. Still my phone would not connect to internet. Towards the end I was suppose to send my phone to fix the problemn and I had to pay to fix problemn they caused. I am so angry. I now have a phone I cannot use. The service is crap.

  • Never, just be glad you got 7.0

  • Battery life before and after 7.0 on the G4 has been about the same for me. Got to get a task manager and see what is using the CPU time..

  • I doubt it ever will. I have a G4, Android 7.0 is just fine. Still don't have security updates any newer than September 1st, 2017 though. I like that Motorola keeps Android the way it comes with, versus Samsung.

  • When will get this phone Oreo update?????

  • I ve been using this phone almost 2months now. Am very impressed with it , buh the recient update andriod 7.0 drains my battery.

  • Moto g 4 is not 4 g supported .battery timing so poor.but main problem of my set its 16 GB memory is not used properly only 4 GB used. After 4 GB set asking for short memory to delete some item. Why I used full memory?.

  • Camera is amazing

  • Search on youtube , maybe you will find a solution for your issue there.

  • Piece of shit!! Phone is getting switched off agian and again.. went to customer care but they are also unable to help..were many customers like me who are having same problem... While writing this post phone got switched off 4 times.

  • Piece of s**t! Screen has burn in, power button fell off, camera lens scratched after few months. Do not buy this phone!

  • May be who knows I am using moto e4 plus it's gud 100%

  • Piece of s**t! Screen has burn in, power button fell off, camera lens scratched after few months. Do not buy this phone!

  • i bought this phone and it worked fine but after 2 months it started having battery issues and it restarts by itself without even touching it

  • I'm buying this phone for my youtube.. can anyone tell me if it's camera is nice or there are other nice options , my budget is very limited. reply please

  • He's saying and I am paraphrasing; Do not buy this waste of time and money product, I had purchased this on Nov 2016 and only after a month of use, it started to automatically shutdown and till this date of my comment, I have visited the service centre 3 times so far but the problem has not been resolved.

  • What ROM did you use to get Oreo on this thing, it would be helpful if you could provide a link to the ROM.

  • Hello guys after nougat update how to turn on enhanced 4G mode(volte)... Is there any option in settings?

  • hello guys! i need your help. i have moto G4 and it's stuck at motorola logo and restart again & again. the repairer said me no software issue in your cell phone then please guide me what do i do?

  • I had my Moto G4 4th Gen, 32gb since Feb 2017 w Repub Wireless (1gb+unlim cell/sms for $20+3tax/month) with NO problems. I also own a Toyota since 2001, with no uncommon issues. Yes, not every device or car is exactly the same, BUT most are good devices/cars, so a few with problems should not condemn the majority.

  • There is an excellent app that allows you to make your own ringtone out of any music file, including how long and what section of the song. It is called Ringtone Maker Pro, via Google Play Store.

  • I just got an update to the September 1st Android patches just now, so maybe they're trying to patch it?

  • As of this date, Lenovo hasn't provided security updates for either Blueborne or Krack vulnerabilities. I'm sure others are ticked off that they aren't upgrading the Moto G4 to Oreo, but not providing these patches pretty much makes the phone exploitable if you dare to use bluetooth or wifi.

  • Though I like this phone it definitely has an issue with overheating if you're playing a graphic intense game.

  • Lenovo has basically given up on updating their phones, and seem to have broken their agreement to upgrade the G4 to Android 8.0 (Oreo). If you can afford to take the risk of bricking your phone, you can flash a custom ROM. I'm already on Android Oreo, and it works pretty well! Overall, I'm pretty happy with this phone. It's very fast.

  • No new Android security patches since march 2017. So either Lenovo Motorola don't give a shit or it's up to date. I assume option 1

  • You are right, the phone charges very slowly with the 0.55 mAh charger delivered with the phone.

  • After 10 months of use, it has a serious problem with ghost touch - whenever I switch on the display. I always have to switch off the display then switch on again. The problem started after 7 months of use, so it's been 3 months since I struggle with this problem. Overall, it is a nice phone but the ghost touch problem is too bad to ignore it. It happened to not be aware of the ghost touch and it started to call contacts, to modify settings. The ghost touch is in two points on the display. I have to send the phone in service and I am very upset because nowadays the phone is the base of all-day activity: e-mails, banking, notes, calls, messages, social media presence. This ghost touch problem is very common for this phone and no solution on the Internet gets rid of the problem. I have tried all the solutions on the Internet: enabling adaptive brightness, resetting the phone, dimming the brightness, changing settings in developer mode, etc. I do not recommend this phone, although you are prepared to send it in service if it's needed. And I think no one wants to buy a phone knowing that it may be possible to have it sent in service.

  • It has been less than a year that I have bought two moto g4 and g4 plus for my parents. one of them has serious ghosts touch problem when brightness change or while charging. Another one turned off yesterday and shows ap fastboot flash mode screen, and as I read there is no solution for that! So I have to buy a new phone!

  • You can change the default ringtone and set personal ringtones for each caller. The one thing it can't do is personal text tones, just one personalised tone for all text messages. If you want to know how to set your ringtones please ask.

  • You can change the default ringtone and set personal ringtones for each caller. The one thing it can't do is personal text tones, just one personalised tone for all text messages. If you want to know how to set your ringtones please ask.

  • Phone is really very good but there is no option to select ringtone as per our choice.

  • I have been using this phone for 8 months. It has two issues one is its battery backup nd 2nd is its camera glass gets scratched. Overall it is very nice phone. We all know that it was launched last year. And at that it was best cellphone in its price range.

  • There Is A Big Problem With This Phone Is Network Skipping Issue... Another Issue Is Hang During Charging, Also During Connecting With Computer... Overall It's Disgusting...

  • very useful info and English.

  • Hi please don't buy this phone waste of money i buy this mobile with in one month problem will come battery isn't gud

  • Don't bye this west of money and time I will purchase on nov16 after 1 month starting automatically switch off problem to till date I am visiting 3 times on more but problems not solve by service center

  • Got Moto G4 like 3 weeks ago. This is my 4th Motorola in line and the biggest disappointment. Not much better from the previous version, a couple of useful functions removed, some added. I was expecting a bit more from the camera. The worst part is that it is not supplied with the turbo charger and it needs to be purchased separately for another £30. Charging takes hours and today I contacted the support. Maybe the phone is faulty, no idea. Anyway it is an additional and not desired task on my long to do list.

  • am yet to buy one

  • Love my MOTO G4. great phone for $225.00. Takes great pics, awesome battery life, and I don't have any complaints about this phone.

  • My G4, yesterday show the ghost touch problem. After a little search, i found a "solution", i change the bright for manual and set it to lowest and the problem stoppped. Changing the display for a new display solve this problem, or it´s a software problem?

  • Take it back to where you purchased it and demand a replacement or refund and stand your ground. I believe it should have a two year warranty

  • lenovo and motorola equal to be a bad combination

  • Stabbed in the back. What a shame.

  • I have the Moto XT1644 G4 Plus (4th Gen), and I love this phone so much, but it keeps crashing and it is annoying the hell out of me. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix it, please?

  • Android O on the G4?? Don't hold your breath. I'm still praying for Nougat on Moto X Pure (which has been promised for close to a year)... Anyways, can't really complain, works good on Marshmallow...

  • Is Lenovo Motorola going to provide Android O Update for Moto G4 or are they going to stab users in the back as they want to sell Moto G5?

  • Agree, Battery life is super great! It has a nice camera too!

  • Moto g4 plus. But now I would buy the G5 plus, or the g5s plus

  • I have the G4 since early 2017 and I have to say that it is exceeding any expectations. Great camera, both front and back, actually does better pictures than my accidentally killed Samsung S6. Awesome video with whole screen focus. Great battery life. Awesome ultrabright screen totally visible in sunlight.

  • Moto X Pure isn't officially released in the UK. Besides it's an older phone. And the Moto G5 phones have no compass on them so using Google Maps and geo location will be a bit iffy and slow and for some (or most of us) that is vital and a deal breaker.

  • After 1 year od use: Positives: 1. performance of both cameras in day conditions, 2. sound, 3. display size, brightness, vividness and contrast on a sunny day, 4. Overal good software/hardware performance even when having multiple accounts installed, its pretty fast, 5. Hand gestures, 6. good reception & fast internet, 7. Pretty good resistance against scratches and falls. Negatives: 1. screen-burn-in/image-retention issue (e.g. you close the app that uses keyboard, but you can still see some traces of that app and keyboard left on the home screen, resting phone over-night or restart fixes the issue), 2. back camera-lense-coating scratches (I had to replace it), 3. bad camera performance in low-light conditions, 4. Slow charging w/o buying extra fast charger, really slow (e.g. Car navigation drains battery way faster than you can charge it with car charger, even when display brightness is set to very low. Same thing happens with regular home-charger), 5. Fast battery draining (sometimes I get maximum 10 hours of easy use, sometimes just 5-6 of normal use), 6. Very rare split-screen issues (resting a phone a couple of minutes on stand-by fixes the issue), 7. no led notifications Overal: It's ok!

  • I am quite fedup with Moto G4, during my visit to USA I have taken pictures and transfer these photos to Pendrive , here in India photos taken by moto G4 not displayed on Sony Bravia saying " Playback not available", while as photos taken by apple phone are displayed well....NO HELP...is available...

  • Chinese phone easily meet your need but do you know that with price tag $300 they give $80 incentive to store so actual price left $220. Moto only give $10 so price $ 290. If you use proper software you find out motorola using censor like bosch. Asahi kasei and other branded censor but chinese phone give you crap one. Try moto Xpure (I tried camera better than iphone 6) or G5plus or g5plus

  • Was galaxy user, i tried iphone5, move to motorola which better. Btw g4 better than j7 and a5. Galaxy j signal is week ( but ok if your carrier good )

  • which 1 phone is gud moto g4 or g4 plus or j2 pro? *(no hanging problem, good camera, btr chipset , btr processr , heating issue ,btry backup nd ither imp. issues) plz suggest me

  • I did. But due to financial constraints I am forced to look the other way i.e. Chinese phones (Doogee, Umidigi, Elefone, etc.) and much older phones like the Nexus 5X (so-so performance, weak speakers output, etc.), Xperia X (small screen for my needs but decent/so-so performer).

  • Have you thought about Oneplus phones?

  • My Moto G4 screen has cracked broken after it fell face first flat on the pavement. The race is on to find a replacement ASAP. As much as I want the new G5S phone it STILL lacks a compass ( a necessity for me), no USB Type-C, no water resistance powers. I need a phone with the very "basic' of requirements as follows: 1. Compass/e-compass &/or magnetometer 2. USB Type-C (not compulsary) 3. 4.7" screen & above (preferably 5.1" & above) 4. Faster Cat-6 4G LTE speeds 5. A speaker with a loudness of 75db or above 6. Screen brightness of 500nits & above 7. 3GB RAM or above 8. Cameras which takes natural-looking photo, great dynamic range, contrast, less overexposed photos and and great in low-light 9. Under £300 or €300. I'm open to suggestions from some Chines phones.

  • You must be joking right? I answered you honestly and politely and this is what I get back from you.

  • I know some phone that can replace your g4 and its NOKIA 3310(2017) coz i think its suit to you

  • The same as the Moto G4 or G5 Plus 5.2" screen & above) but with a compass (as i use Google Maps everyday for work purposes), a faster Cat-6 4G LTE, a front or down-firing speakers with 75db minimum loudness (the very least), a 3000mAh battery (the very least) for true all-day use, excellent sunlight readability ( AMOLED? Super LCD?) and one which will survive in the odd rain or accidental drop in the sink (advanced nano coating? basic IP-rating?).

  • What are the main features you want your mobileto have?

  • Go to settings >> More Tab >> About device. -Find "Build number" and click 6 times fast on it. -You will then get the message saying: "You are now a developer" -Come back to Home Screen, and then go back to Settings >> More Tab >> Now you will -see the "Developer Options" -Now go to Developer options >> Drawing Section or Rendering Section >> Find "Turn off hardware overlays" or "disable hardware overlays" >> This will force the phone to always use GPU for screen compositing

  • Plan on replacing my ageing Moto G4. I have many choices: 1. Nokia 5 - inferior chipset but decent performance and better GPU but no water resistance 2. Galaxy A5 2017 - dull-looking photos, expensive for its specs/class and questionable multitasking but great water resistance, smoother UX/UI, 1.5 day battery life & loud speaker 3. Honor 9 - Affordable for its specs but not a fan of EMUI, questionable sunlight readibility (i.e. different/odd screen colour calibration) and no water resistance 4. Xperia Z5 - better specs than Moto G4 on paper but maybe stuck with Nougat 7.0, camera/performance is showing it's age and is slow 5. Moto G5 Plus - having no compass (which is a must as i use Google Maps for walking navigation), no proper water resistance and a newer model coming 6. iPhone 6S - a safe bet but it is iOS, questionable battery life and has no water resistance 7. Galaxy J5 2017 - budget Samsung, low-par camera, questionable performance, great battery life, NFC + fingerprint scanner but no proper water resistance. Any comments, suggestions & advice please?

  • So, like the Moto G4 with no compass for basic navigation and stuck at Nougat 70 and the Moto G5 which may get stucj at Nougat 7.1.1 forever and again no compass. I'm reluctant to go back to an Xperia as all my experiences have shown poor battery life.

  • iPhone will have worse battery life. If you are android user go for other Motorola or Sony Xperia.

  • Unusable back camera, very bad, unfortunately, because in every other aspects it is a very good phone. We can't talk about low light situations, because it is unusable even in very good artificial lightning. There are 2mpx or 5mpx front cameras that perform better than moto g4's back camera. The last time I'm getting a phone after reading "professional" reviews. No, you can't use words like "decent in this price range" regarding the camera.

  • Anyone know about Android O update release date (sorry for my English)

  • Trying to replace my Moto G4 with another phone. But talking about battery life thinking about doing all the known battery saving tips that you can think of (from turning off NFC, bluetooth, Airplay, GPS, background syncing, tracking, etc. on an iOS device) would you say an iPhone 6S Plus would be better than a Moto G4 or vice versa?

  • -Go to settings >> More Tab >> About device.

  • Very welcome, i found that solution via someone else's post, glad it has helped.

  • My wife and I have the Moto G4 and she is on Cricket (AT&T) and I am on Verizon ( Totalwireless). NO problems yet. I think most problems are due to App issues. How can any mfg verify every App. I had and iPhone 5s and if was flawless with any App I installed.

  • Hi Gene. My partner and I both have Moto G4 supplied by Carphone Warehouse in UK. Were both on Android Nougat with no battery issues as far as we can tell. Phone can be charged on morning and be used for instant to 9.40pm and it's now at 73% with 1 day 10 hours left on the battery.

  • Pretty good phone if one likes stock android. Only problem i have compared to other phones is poor voice quality of speaker. What i especially like in this compared to gf's huawei P9 lite is faster and (way) more reliable gps. Now after a year of use battery life seems bit worse than it was but i usually end up replacing battery once per 1½ years with my smartphones, so that seems normal.

  • Help bought my phone Sept.16.Last month phone been crazy.blinking . won't shut down,over heat.Jumps off pages can't texted.Os their a recall on them.Daughter has same problem

  • keeps flickering and i gave up on it... had to trade in...

  • yes, i experience that too

  • My phone keeps flickering. Anyone knows why?

  • I have a Moto G4 purchased back in July of 2016 and everything was working great. It had good battery life and responded pretty well. But, as soon as I updated to Android 7.0, that's when my battery life declined quickly to the point where I was dependent on carrying a charger to wherever I went. Also, the phone now reboots itself randomly. The phone also shuts down in mid conversation with someone. This is unacceptable. Now, July 4, 2017, I need a new phone to function.

  • Thane for the help

  • My G4 does the same thing IF and only IF I try to use it while it is charging. If not charging it never has the problem you describe.

  • Love this phone but is anyone having battery drain probs after the nougat 7.0 update, my battery has gone from 100% to 59% since 8am this morning.

  • Thank you so much, your comment saved my G4 and other 200£ pound for a new phone that I was buying. Thank you again, it was enough a eye filter for the ghost screen problem, unbelievable

  • Z3? Despite no Nougat update? Despite photo noise/blurriness when zoomed in? etc.

  • It's a great phone. I have the screen ghost image problem too though, started 2 months after purchase, possibly triggered by nougat update (which is otherwise awesome). I don't want to send it back and risk getting worse problems so have found a solution- go on playstore and download the EYE FILTER app. Set the colour to black at 4%. Leave it in always. It won't drain the battery and the black overlay will not make the screen look weird. In fact it adds a classy gloss. Taking the edge off the white stops the ghosting. This is a cracking phone, best in its class the price.

  • go for z3

  • I ran a short survey on Twitter asking people what old flagship/affordable last-gen phone would they get for a balance of true all-day battery, water-resistance, a great (not just good) camera & above average performance. My choices were Moto G4, Xperia Z3 & something else. People chose the Z3. Would u guys agree despite being a few years old, noisy photos when zoomed in and guaranteed no Nougat update?

  • Just bought this phone for £139 pound and wow what a cracking phone it is, powerful, fast and plenty of room, and I've just put a 128gb SD card in, i was without a phone for weeks so was looking for my next one, checking YouTube, latest reviews etc and come across this one and loads of different reviews were great so I took the plunge. I nearly bought a Samsung s6 and glad I did t spend all the money for one. If you want a powerpacked phone for under £200 then the Moto g4 is certainly worth it. Well done Lenovo/motorola

  • Anyone use vr head set with g4 tell me i want buy vr

  • I bought this phone for $220 last year thinking it would be a nice upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy 4.1 After all it had stellar reviws. It was fine for a few months then the screen started blinking and changing without any prompting. It freezes constantly and frequently has difficulty turning on/off. I have done a factory reset and upgraded to Android 7 thinking that would solve the problem. It just made it worse.

  • I came to the basic G4 from a Samsung S7 (the basic $700 one). I was unimpressed with the S7. The screen was too sensitive and it over heated in a refrigerator. I ride a motorcycle, the S7 fell out at 70mph and went under a semi truck. I disliked it so much I was a little relieved. So, I ordered a G4 directly from Motorola. My verizon store wanted to sell me them most costly of the 4 phones they had on the shelf. No. Motorola promised an engraving, custom color, and custom welcome. They got the color right and forgot the rest. It also took 2 weeks to arrive. I could have bought the phone from Best Buy same day/same price if I wanted black. It was easy to convert to Verizon. Carefully insert SIM Card and you can call. Contacts were not saved from the S7 on the SIM Card. Verizon's bad. I also had a spare, new 64gb card and boosted my storage to 70gb. First impressions. No screen issues. Works like a charm. Does not overheat. No lag. No sticking. Bigger screen than the S7 basic. Battery can be replaced. SIM Cards can be swapped easy. This is a better phone than the S7. Better design, better ergos. It does not try to hide the Android OS in Motorola apps and themes. It has style. The G4 basic $200 is better than the S7 $700 of a year and half ago. I'll upgrade Motorola to the next Droid, X, Z, or next thing when time comes. Samsungs suck and Iphones (had one, I5... boring as borax) are bland.

  • After nougat working awesome battery camera but screen issue shadow of previous screen always any solution

  • Yes after the update to A 7.0 the phone has overheating issues battery drainage and lag issues. It needs immediately update to version 7.1.1

  • Dual SIM? Says who? the one i have just received from the UK Amazon is not dual SIM.

  • Only camera glass poor but mobile working great in all area

  • Bought this phone, got what I should expect for about $200. Crashes like 3 times every day and has overheating issues.

  • GSM phone should work with any phone company anywhere .

  • My unlocked Moto G4 works fine on Verizon. I am using the Sim card from my Verizon HTC 1 M 8. I purchased the G4 directly from Motorola / Lenovo when the touch screen stopped working on my HTC 1 M8. No regrets.

  • My understanding is that Verizon uses technology other than GSM and therefore sim cards do not work on their system. If the phone is unlocked, it can probably be used on GSM carriers such as ATT, Sprint, T Mobile or ones that use their networks such as Consumer Cellular.

  • I bought a Motorola g4 while in Spain, and got a local plan sim card for a month. They told me that I could use the phone in the US with a new sim card. Back in the USA I went to Verizon and they told me that the phone would not accept a US sim card. Were they giving me a bunch of BS or is that true?

  • Never had the ghost touch screen on my Moto G4 or my husband's. Were in the UK. Are you in another country? Either way contact Motorola you have rights.

  • I have tried Bluetooth of music from my G4 to my PC and it works but that might be affected if the music file has DRM Digital Rights Management protection in the file for instance if downloaded from iTunes. My limited music would be off cd or youtube.

  • as far as i'm aware bluetooth file sharing of music on my Moto G4 works in the uk but i have not tried this as I only put music on by cable and that's only for ringtones normally.

  • Any one facing hotspot(Tethering & portable hotspot) disconnect issue??. In my G4 phone it is disconnecting on its own after few minutes.

  • anyone please tell me any hanging and heating problem of this phone... moto g4 plus.. i want to buy this phone...

  • It's the G4 not play not plus.

  • Very dangerous moto g I like this mobile camera result is good he beat the turbo 2 mobile

  • I have the ghost touch screen problem, it is so annoying really. I wont buy a Moto anymore

  • Go to youtube and write in "Motorola G4 overview"

  • Thats the moto g4 PLAY. theres a plus, play, and standard g4.

  • I thought this was a 5" device with removable battery. How come this is 5.5" and Non-removable battery.

  • Can someone using this Moto G4 tell me how the following functions are: - Sound quality - Display - Screen - Processing power - Battery duration on wifi,4g network Please I want to make a decision ASAP??

  • only help i can give you. again, sorry for being late

  • Sorry for the late comment. I don't have any issues on the LTE connectivity even when the phone is warming due to the proccesor.

  • I purchased an unlocked Moto G4 Play in the US from Walmart. In the phone's hardware information it says it is SKU of XT1625 with 2.00 RAM and 16 GB ROM. GSMArena says this is the SKU for the Moto G4Plus which has 32GB, but that is not my issue. What I am trying to find out is which SIM card to get on Sunday - two days from now - in Munich! That means I need to know which GSM bands does my phone support. Do any of you know? thanks!

  • It's simple, there are single sim versions as well.

  • It's simple, there are single sim versions as well.

  • If you are in the US, or your phone was made in the US, blue tooth file sharing may be disabled because of relatively new laws in place. basically file shareing via Bluetooth has been made illegal to prevent song pirating. if you have an old phone (circa 2015 or so) Bluetooth file sharing should still work, and depending on manufacturer preference file sharing for files types other than MP3 files, WAV files, etc. may still be possible, but music is no longer shareable via Bluetooth in the US.

  • I did the update and phone kept turning on and off so replaced phone to same one I not done update

  • My guess, you bought it from a carrier. The carrier probably specified Motorola/Lenovo to manufacture their version with a single sim. Carriers like to hold us hostage to their services.

  • USA Republic Wireless Motorola Moto G4: single sim slot but I bought it directly from Republic Wireless. Phone works as advertised. No issues and I'm very happy with it. I've upgraded to Nougat, added a SD card, encrypted it and use the Microsoft Arrow launcher. Good value for the money.

  • i have it for two weeks and it works very well. no lag, no restart, no nothing to me. maybe you had the bad luck to have a faulty one

  • I have a battery issue

  • Has anyone else's Moto G4 been acting funny or buggy or has a battery drainage issue since updating it to Android 7?

  • I bought this phone.. but it has single sim slot.. can anyone tell me why it has single sim slot?

  • It's moto g4 nougat update is ok or some glich in this update. Like battery drainging heatup etc etxlc

  • Download battery doctor app, it has a battery cooler

  • 4g works in UK on 3 network can't say about other networks and countries.

  • This is not happening in UK retailgb version from Carphone Warehouse version on Nougat

  • Mmm tnq. But this heating issue wouldn't affect moto g4 mobile. Isn't it?? Right

  • on my country's network it work pretty fine

  • never buy moto g4 or g4 plus. freqently restarting the phone itself many times in a day. no use of talking to customer care. everyday restarts more than 10 times.

  • is 4g network support properly?

  • If I am turning on second simcard's data than first simcard's is disabling..Even it is 3g or 2g.. (my first simcard's is with 4g data.. ) please help ..

  • Thanks my friend. I'll give CW a ring. The G4 certainly is a very good phone so I'm reluctant to change.

  • I did received Nougat update for Moto G4 4th generation works great perfect

  • i meant ambiental

  • you can't do anything, unfortunately. The Snapdragon 615 and 617 have this heating issue, despite the fact that they're running very well.

  • Lack of info: - it has a proximity sensor. - it has smbiental light sensor. -on the back i noticed it has LASER autofocus

  • Yes i have received 7.0 great update no issues so far.

  • I bought this phone two months back. Phone is good and the speed was excellent. It's not hanging. But the only issue is heating problem. When I put in turbo charger the mobile temperature was near 45' Celsius.!!!!!!. And when I am using net also the phone was heating.. pls help me for this issue

  • We charge our G4s over night as a matter of course we're happy with our phones running all day until after midnight sometimes till 3am before putting on charge.

  • Were on Nougat 2 G4s no such issue take your phone back to the shop you bought it from.

  • No screen burn with the two Moto G4 in our household from Carphone Warehouse UK. Are you in UK? Either way take it back they should replace it. Sounds like a hardware fault not due to Nougat Software.

  • Yes in the UK and it's a great improvement. Louder message tone volume and more reliable. My phone is SIM free from Carphone Warehouse.

  • Did you try sent to samsung? I used to note user and it was hard to connect. Try to delete connetion, and reconnect. Motorola bluetooth almost never fail even buy low entry

  • Has ANYONE received Nougat update for Moto G4 4th generation?

  • I had the S7 Edge and that is a great phone my wife's phone gave up the ghost so i gave her my s7 edge last week as i am not really hung up on mobiles i went out and bought the G4 expecting it to be a let down and i am very surprised at just how good a phone it is for the money the performance is excellent and things like Nougat 7.0 update shows how good they are with giving the latest updates. My one criticism of Samsung is it takes them forever to roll out a update and some devices a year old get nothing. I give the G4 a big thumbs up.I can see why this phone is so highly rated.

  • I won't even recognize my car to sync. Also will not let me send or receive mms photos etc. in messages my default for texts. I've tried settings to no avail. 3rd smartphone 2nd moto g and never a problem. I've been syncing without hesitation since my 2002 blackberry. Any suggestions ;( have to resend to amazon by 4/2 if I can't make this work!

  • Hmmmm. Well I've had my Moto G4 for about 3 months. Nougat update was excellent. However, started to notice "screen burn" lately where if you have been using a whitish screen then go to a grey one you can see a ghost image. There are other reports of this. Not sure whether to plod on or take it back to Carphone, its an excellent phone except for this.

  • I have brought Moto G4 from amazon. It is a very good phone except that the gallery app is not installed by default

  • I bought this phone and updated to nougat but ending taking back to shop as it started restarting on it own all the time still got g4 not done update but now is asking me to do it but I do not want to in case it does it again apart from the update it is a good phone

  • Updated to Nougat no problems for the first 2 days but now i have no sound. Folk can hear me talking when on a call but i cant hear them, Rebooting does work but only for 10 mins then no sound again. Anyone else having the same problem or does anyone know a work a round for it

  • It's a good phone but the problem is it is getting hotter very fast

  • iv just received my new moto g4, ok its only 16gb yesterday, switch on update accounts, the usual malarky as u do setting up, norm i listen radio thro night in bed so its on for few hrs i sleep , done 7 hr sleep n noticed battery was only 98% , this is all while unplugged , battery great, done few pics, not that am cam guy but they was gd pics sharp n whatnot, gd for playing music, loud speakers , il get bk with more info as i progress with this new toy, i.e get a descent armoured case n tempered glass, as iv done as im sure its not all that grippy in hand, n b a bummer to drop/damage b4 getting protected

  • now being rolled out.

  • Lenovo'

  • I'm honestly disappointed with the g4 series, even if it has good specs by knowing its price it crashes everytime you try to play some good games,i honestly think this might be appropriate for social media instead of gaming.

  • Mine is retgb, sim free. I had about 5:30h on screen time with 6.0.1, now about 4:30 - 4:45 h with 7.0 Have to charge it in less than 24h, earlier on 36h. Hope all that goes away with 7.1.1 Besides that, Nougat works awesome on G4

  • Just got the Nougat 7.0 update yesterday, retau version of the phone, about 750 mb in size-everything is just fine, very nice look and feel, great new features. Didn't noticed any problem in this short period, can't really judge on battery life for exemple, got to test it a bit longer, but looks very good so far. Well done Lemoto!

  • I've updated on 7.0 ( sec. patch 12/2016 ) about a week ago and battery drains very fast. Only issue for now. Back on 6.0 no issues at all_

  • My husband and I have Nougat on our UK SIM free Moto G4s and so far no issues just improvements.

  • Hi. I'm in UK and also have updated to Nougat showing that December 2016 update. Surely Google should be supplying the security updates as soon as they become available. Is there a way to email Google to find out what gives.

  • I meant SIM Free model

  • I'm on Nougat and my Autorotate seems to be staying where it's set. I'm in UK with a simple free Moto G4.

  • Does your auto rotate mode stay in potrait when you change it? Mine reverts automatically back to auto rotate after a few seconds/minutes

  • got nougat today, work ok

  • Updated my moto G4, works great.

  • I've just updated my Moto G4 to android 7 Nougat today and it's working fine but one thing that's bad is that the security update part says December 2016, totally confusing?

  • I've just got the Android 7 Nougat update on my Moto G4 and everythings working fine. Finally good news we've been waiting for.

  • This phone is decent for a mid-range phone. HD quality, runs smoothly. However, the phone periodically glitches out with the home button being spammed even when I'm not touching it.

  • Even if nougat comes to moto g4 I doubt I will update mine, Will just keep it as it is, a cheap work phone....saves damaging an expensive handset and saves wasting time on nougat.

  • Anybody help me. Because I try to send many song from file manager via Bluetooth but I can't share via Bluetooth. In my moto g4 defective ? Or any problem in my phone. Please help me

  • A quick review of this really cheap device.. price when reviewed 150£ plus free 32gb sd. Been using this phone now for 3 days as a daily driver and wow im impressed. The spec sheet might ve on the mid range side of things but for a phone at this price i doubt you could find something better. I heard a lot of people talking about this phone saying its slow its weak it has a weak camera.. really? This phone is just as fast as any new phone it has a gorgeous camera for most situations especially daylight photography. It can run Order And Chaos 2 Redemption which imo is a very demanding game. With a memory card you can make ur internal storage huge for apps music photos files whatever. Most people these dayd want loads of storage to download and download and download with this phone you can even with the s7 whoch vosts 3x as much i cant fo that. Also that fron speaker and the general size of the phone is great for media. For those out there that want a cheap end phone that can do every task you ask it to do apart from things like android pay or 3d touch or other fancy smansy gimiky things this phone is perfect

  • I see a lot of people still fussing about android nougat update, surely moto g5 will hit the shelves before g4 gets updated? Makes sense to bring out new hardware first then bring out the software update afterwards for the older devices

  • I wish I could've done that, but mine is the Amazon variant so can't root :(

  • I have the same issues with my Moto g 4 but I root my phone and I put a fresh version of lineage. It's much better than stock android

  • The being able to write in fluent clear English isn't a reason to trust or distrust someone. And to be honest, disregarding someone's post due to their spelling is quite rude.

  • I won't deny this is a great phone indeed; however, lately my unit is having an issue which has grown into a major problem for me. Long story short, it constantly shuts down by its own, regardless of what I'm doing and usually after the battery drops below 50%. It first started to happen only while I was watching videos on YouTube or Facebook, now it happens no matter what I'm doing. I want to think this is a software defect that could be resolved with the Nougat update, but this is becoming a highly frustrating experience and I've done everything I could think of: Factory Reset, tested on safe mode and it still happened, wiped cache partition, did hard Reset, tested using only pre-installed apps, attempt to flash custom ROM (unsuccessful because I have the Amazon variant and the bootloader can't be unlocked) ... I feel out of options, I love Moto phones, but after this experience I will really think twice before buying another one. Has someone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

  • The phone is fine bro. Have it for months now and its working perfect. You just got a faulty one

  • Can any help m ..my phn is getting hng..mostly charging...

  • The Moto G4 was supposed to get android 7 nougat last year but was put back to this year. Then it was supposed to be released by the end of February 2017 but it's still not here. No doubt we'll get fobbed off with another supposed realise time again soon. Like the saying goes don't count your chickens before the hatch.

  • I live in a gated apartment complex. My visitors have to call my phone from a box so I can buzz them in from my phone but I don't know how to get the numbers up to do this after it rings. Does anyone out there know how?

  • so I have connected this phone to the Bluetooth in a scoda rapid and it wont let me access the contacts via the car, it is saying there is no numbers attached to the contacts? can somebody help?

  • Has anyone in the UK and/or Ireland (especially in Ireland) seen any sign of the Android 7.0/7.1 Update for their Moto G4 yet? I'm getting bored waiting for it and sick of the empty promises of it coming to the phone..

  • Yes. This phone working with both SIM card in same time in 3G/3G or 3G/4G . Testing ok 100%.

  • who are you going to believe you who can't write English or reviewers and my experience, There are at least 2 websites who say this Is by far the best phone for price out and I agree. Now is it possible you got a bad phone? If so in two days u should of took it back not complain how bad it is

  • please think many times before buying this phone are motto phone ,i bought this phone 2 month back ,by seeing the review ,after got deliver frm Amazon i realized hw big mistake i did, i used this phone for 2 days frm next day it is servicing center til date,1st time it was software issue they took 20 days to check but end the didn't resolve

  • The Moto G14 will have the capability to teleport you around not transport as I have written below

  • The best Moto G phone will be the Moto G14 it will be released in 2027 and will have a dialithium crystal battery that never runs out and will have the capability to transport you to work and back etc and will even come with a free gel case so you don't have to buy one from eBay

  • A compass sensor will help you locate a lost compass I recently misplaced my compass an was unable to draw a circle so I used my phones compass sensor which indicated the lost compass was in the drawer. I retrieved my compass from the drawer and was able to draw circles again. I only wish this phone had a built in pencil sharpener too 😄

  • whats a compass sensor do?

  • You can use two SIM cards in the same of two different or same network (GSM only), both are stand by. if you are using SIM1 SIM2 will not get any calls or SMS etc, if you are using SIM2 it is also same for SIM1.

  • Can someone tell me what dual sim card means to the phone, I got ths phone and love it. Its the best cheap phone out, I don't know if its worth 150 but I paid 90 and felt it was worth it, Before you get into processing speeds with all phone know how fast your connected, I almost sold this phone cheap before I tried it at target and it was very fast on their wifi, I went to my cable got a new modem and ROUTER and now this phone is very good, and pretty fast, The camera is amazing, Someone said on you tube it wasn't? they are lying, This is best phone I ever used the display is great, the speaker is loud and have no issues with call quality or overheating, that's the Gods honest truth, You can't get a phone under 90 bucks this good, Get it on sale

  • Thats the reserved ram for OS for phone to keep working.every Mobile gadget has this reserve ( based on OS) and It cannot be altered/ changed. Windows, iOS and BBOS use far lesser ram than android. I have Windows phone working smoothly at 512mb system RAM. Moto phones are better choice since it works on near vanilla Android, hence ram consumption is not huge( when compared to other bloated Android OS)

  • Moto's have no notification LED. It uses a different way to show notifications by move the phone a little the screen mid-opens and show time and notifications...

  • Hello friends, please do help me. Android OS and Android system using too much ram. Both are using over 400 mb which leads to battery drain.. Can anyone suggest me what should I do? I have Moto G(4th gen) 16 gb variant.

  • You can download a call recorder app for free in the playstore

  • What about in call voice quality which is the main required feature of any phone. Whether it has built in call recorder ? Pls do comment.

  • Moto Z.

  • X style the perfect combination

  • Please suggest me best model of moto 4g handset

  • Which is the best model in motorla 4g mobile

  • Which is the best model in motorla 4g mobile

  • Then ur childhood was awsome.. :P

  • helo this phone can work in same time with both sim card in 3G/3G , or 3G/4G thanks.

  • This phone has no compass sensor. That is crazy! Even my first smartphone 10 years ago had a compass. This phone has no LED notification. That is crazy! Even my first smartphone 10 years ago had an LED for notification.

  • People like change and hope change means improvement, the same as people with iPhones expect. Sometimes though you can't see any change.

  • Where did you buy the fast charger? Press Peas & Tanks

  • I want to get the ogone but,I amnot sure yet. What is all the fuss about 7 android?

  • Yes currently there is no update available for Android 7 Nougat in the UK but sounds like there may be issues with current version of it. We shall see when we finally have ota update for this.

  • Bought the G4 in US but am traveling to Cambodia soon. Do I need a transformer (220 to 110) in order to charge the phone or will it sense the 220 and accommodate accordingly?

  • How loud (in dB) are the speakers? Does it support Cat-6 4G LTE in the UK/EU? Any sign of support for hi-res audio? And any sight of Nougat 7.0 update?

  • Maybe you could have worded this better? I take it you mean Android V7 is not here in the UK on Motorola handsets?

  • Well there seems to be some issues with Android 7 so better to have a fully working version with few bugs than it to be riddled with bugs

  • Motorola in Germany said that Android 7 will update until the end of February.

  • Hopefully Motorola or Google will fix the issues. Android 7 not here yet in the UK.

  • No sign of Android 7 in the UK for my G4 purchased from Carphone Warehouse.

  • Nice smart phone.....camera is good irrespective of YouTube videos on g4 camera reviews... best under 11000

  • This phone heated during charging, within broaching for a continuous period of more than 30 min, please advise.

  • Another question: Which is better for gaming Xperia XA or Moto G4?

  • Hi Sandy, if you are Amazon Prime member, you can buy it for $149.99

  • I wasn't sure were to ask this question. When I search up retus, software channel, or either of those, I get results way far from what I'm looking for. I'm wandering what those are and no matter what keywords I use nothing works.

  • what is the ongoing cost of this device , i really like the moto brand ?????????

  • I connected a turbo charger on my moto g4 and loaded super fast and the message appeared: TURBO CHARGER CONNECTED

  • The phone supports turbo charging, but only if you use the packaged the Moto charger. I have one with me, and it charges to 100% within 60-80 minutes!

  • Support turbo fast charge

  • Super phone today I updated my moto g4 Android 7

  • this phone not supported fast charging. g4 plus have. but this phone not. be careful!!!

  • Thanks for your reply, I have also reported it.👍

  • how is phone....

  • Its supposed to be available to update this month January 2017. That's if Lenovo don't go bust as their moaning of financial problems since purchasing Motorola. Maybe the problem is not Motorola as such but that Lenovo is not very well known in the world for quality mobile phone manufacture.

  • My husband and I have a Moto G4 from Carphone Warehouse. We have a crash of google plus or something randomly but we report it and any other issues via the handset to google and hope that this will be corrected in Nougat which is supposed to be out this month (January 2017).

  • 2 x sim and microsd

  • Hey. No NFC, non removeable battery, splash proof but not water proof. Hope this helps

  • Hi guys. Got Moto G4 16g last week from Carphone warehouse. Mostly good but google plus seems to crash constantlyand make the phone heat up, anyone else having this issue?

  • Garbage phone. Tried two pieces. Earpiece distorts voice call. It's an excellent phone for everything except making phone calls. His cheaper brother Moto G4 Play sounds much better on the phone call.

  • Few questions for MOTO G4 (3GB RAM & 32 GB ROM) 1 is there any OTG support? 2 is it ip67 certified? 3 can we change the battery? 4 NFC ? 5 Heating problems?

  • Does anybody know when the Moto G4 Nougat update is coming to models in Ireland and the UK? I'm still waiting for it and really want the update as soon as possible.

  • i love it , nice, cheap, fast, dual sim love it

  • is it hybrid sim or 2sim+1memory card slot?

  • original Moto G was 4.5in. G2 and G3 were 5in. This is already 5.5in. It's just getting too big.

  • I got just today my moto which is black and has dual sim and also has dedicated memory card slot. I'm in india

  • only moto G4

  • Not. White one is, black one isn't

  • Voice Over Lte network

  • Hi guys!! I'm searching for a new smartphone and I was comparing Huawei P8 Lite vs Motorola Moto G4. Which one is better?

  • i coldnt conect to my nikon d5500 by wifi system. so my cel said . no internet conection

  • Moto g4 16gb black support dual sim or not..??

  • You need fast charger for that, included one is just regular 5V 1A charger

  • Nougat supports Google play store, My phone is running perfectly after Nougat update

  • It's legit. Same phone and specs just a singl sim/sd slot 16gb. I have one as well. Bought in UK. Not all are dual.

  • Does Nougat not support play store? Play Store is not opening

  • Yes, That variant is available and I bought that too... Nowhere in any site it is mentioned. I updated to Android Nougat today.

  • Is the moto G4(the one without fingerprint) 32 GB variant has 3 GB RAM? Here it is mentioned that G4 has only 2 GB RAM.

  • When is the UK Nougat Update coming for Moto G4?

  • I had HTC One M9 for two years and the only complain I had was short life battery. After switching to MOTO G4, immediately I was trapped not knowing how to setup entering characters using screen as trace pad, It was given in HTC One M9, one can use voice input, keypad or trace pad; but no instruction how to set up trace pad in MOTO G4. (or even possible!) This is a great pain for me since I am so spoiled by HTC to enter Chinese characters directly to applications. The voice recognition in MOTO G4 is also poor comparing with HTC especially for Asian languages. So if you are using keypad only inputs, MOTO G4 is a good choice. Otherwise you might want to reconsider.

  • 4g available?

  • yes this is support volte.

  • Finally saw the notification today for Nougat update for my Moto G4( India).

  • Not on my UK model

  • Hello, I got this phone 16GB storage from US. It's looks like MOTO and Lennovo collaboration. I found 1 slot for SIM another one for Micro SD. I read dual SIM in this link . Please confirm

  • Yes

  • What is volte?

  • Is this support for volte call pls let me knowfrom any one

  • Is this support for volte call pls let me knowfrom any one

  • Is this support volte call pls let me know anyone?

  • Yes

  • obviously moto g4 has bettr camera

  • I love my black 16gb moto g4! I've had a Samsung Galaxy S4, and a Droid turbo and wasn't impressed with either. The Samsung had overheating problems and too much bloatware unlike Motorola. And the turbo didn't work right with my uconnect. The g4 is really fast and not gobbed out with extra junk nobody needs. The colors are bright and camera responds quickly. Comes with a turbo charger for fast charging. I haven't found anything I don't like about it. I searched for Apple phones and newer Samsung phones, but my favorite was the original moto g, it was just too slow and had no room. Very satisfied with my moto g4.

  • if u get the "white" g4 it has dual (two) sim slots and a 3rd slot for microSD. Not sure if the "black" g4 is the same though.

  • Is Moto g4 support 2 sim & memory card at a time ?

  • Hi! Can you help me - can`t decide between moto g4 (16 or 32GB 13mpx camera) and huawei honor 7 lite (16GB 13mpx camera). Need a better camera and duo sim. Urgent!

  • Moto seems like shut.... My my 2015 galaxy j5 has got the latest December security update... But moto g4 still remains on July security update.

  • moto g .. service is very poor. the spare parts are not available and it makes delay in service . products not performing upto the warranty period.

  • Moto G4 for 1 year and then getting a replacement or the Moto Z Play for 2 years before a replacement? I also have heard some issues with the Moto Z Play in regards to issues with 5GHz wifi connection being weak, any thoughts on this? Also how do the cameras compare as this is important.

  • k6

  • k6 power or g4

  • Does it have video calling and is it the same thing as LENOVO SM4366? Pls help me out, thanks.

  • Moto g4 or HTC M9?

  • Till it's charged.

  • Great phone, I've got the Moto G4. It runs smoothly, with a regularly updated xda section online, which allowed me to root it and install Xposed etc. I just wished they didn't go short on the sensors, eg. proximity, compass etc. It's so annoying, considering cheaper phones have had these for years now

  • I have been using the phone for a re than a month now , and i liked it very well No lag il, and aaplications run smoothly Just the camera , dont expect too much from it

  • How long should I charge my Moto G4 for the first time 8hours or 2hours because it's has Turbo charging ???

  • It takes five hours to charge the battery!

  • Samsung lags over time. Motorola has nearly pure Android. Plus they get quick updates than Samsung. Prefer Motorola

  • It all depends on what you're looking for: The Moto G4 has a slightly bigger battery, a higher resolution camera and 2 more CPU cores, but at a lower frequency. Also, it has expandable storage. The Nexus 5X is better in terms of pure performance, has a fingerprint sensor and has the benefit of receiving updates directly from Google. So, if you want the (potentially) better camera and longer battery life? Get the Moto. You want more power and updates? Get the Nexus.

  • which one better motto G4 or samsung galaxy J7 2016?

  • The Moto g4 will be a better pick. 5X has hardware issues LG can't repair.

  • lg nexus 5x is better if you ask me.so i would suggest u nexus 5x

  • lg g3 is old and it has bootloap and overheating issues and no updates to the latest as of now so moto g4 looks like a better choice if you want latest updates and overall smoother experience

  • I can't decide between LG Nexus 5X and Motorola Moto G4, which is a better choice

  • lg g3 or moto g4? Thanks

  • I wouldnt...try and buy an LG Stylo 2 phone..there better..had a Stylo phone..more dependable and cheaper.

  • 1 4G and 1 3G

  • i have LG g3 (3gb ram , 32 gb space) should i upgrade to Moto g4 ?

  • Does it support dual 4g sims ?

  • Brilliant smartphone, I am very happy with it.

  • I think only the white MotoG4 is dual sim.

  • no bro

  • Anyone got Android 7 Nougat on their Moto G4 phone yet and if yes what country and any opinions re the update. Only official updates please.

  • Hi - Wher eis the dual sim slot? I d o not think the G4 (Not plus) is a Dual Sim cards. At least not on mine.

  • Go get a good adapter

  • Yes Moto G4 does have 4g, at least in UK.

  • No problems with g4 in UK. Have words with Motorola.

  • Yes, it does have a dual SIM card slot :)

  • I went to Best Buy and tried to get a virgin mobile card, as I have been them for years, and the card would not work. In frustration I said fine give me Verizon. Also didn't. I'm going to try a company store next. Maybe T- Mobile in the mall.

  • Did Moto g 4 support 4g

  • does the moto g4 or plus comes with dual sim cards

  • g4 plus has more ram memory 3 gb insted of 2 gb in g4

  • yes all memory cards fit

  • looking for a compatible SD card for my new moto G4 32 gb phone - is it true that any SD card will work in it ? specs say up to 256.

  • Friends, I am bit confused about moto G4 and moto G4 plus. Please tell me which one is better option. I know g4 plus has more specs but.

  • yeah its true its looks like motorola moto g4

  • Looks like Motorola Moto G4 ! WOW !

  • Me too. Did you find out?

  • Amaze

  • Received, from Amazon.

  • yes

  • Look up on Google how to hard reset your phone.

  • Does any one received moto g4 3gb ram and 32gb rom version?

  • Had this phone for almost a week now, it has top notch battery life, display is very bright and clear, software is smooth no bloatware installed, cameras are surprisingly very good compared to other low end 13mp phones, very good low light conditions with a little tweaking, hdr is is kinda off so do not use it, it plays and runs everything, front speaker is very loud, louder than most flagship phones although for some reason the notifications not so much loud it can be fixed with an update, overall great phone at such a bargain price! happy with it

  • using this method will delete the user data. switch off your phone now press volume up + power button simultaneously. ( you'll enter into bios mode) here using volume buttons switch to recovery mode and press power button to select now wait till a screen saying no commands comes. press power button followed by volume up in a quick manner. here, choose wipe data/factory reset. choose frome futher modes and go on.

  • does any one know how to get into locked phone? cannot remember pattern

  • it is a major flaw. My moto g4 is having ghost touch when not charging, happens many times per day.

  • What does HEAT mean?🙅.

  • Mobile can HEAT due to following: - using turbo charging - using the phone while turbo charging - covering up your phone with additional covers/shell/skins during charging - using non motorola charger - using graphics intensive apps - loading / working with lot of apps at same time. - putting your phone in/on hot cooking appliances like tawa, kadhai, cooker, microwave oven etc. - exposing it to direct sun during afternoon for prolonged period. Above are some of reasons for phobe heating. Though it seems simple and f*****h , but there are people who do it and complain about heating problem.

  • When can mobile heat

  • When can mobile heat

  • this phone works fine for me. waiting for Nougat update

  • Motorola moto g4 or huawei honor 6x?need the answer plzz

  • The phone would be solid, but if you receive a defective one (Like I did), their warranty service is atrocious, your only option is to have it repaired which leaves you without a phone for an extended period of time.

  • Camera works perfectly fine for me. Also what is there to check? Phone is already released. Also this isn't a Note phone. Don't you dare try to compare the Moto G4 to something like the Note 7. This phone is nothing like it and this phone definitely doesn't explode like the Note 7.

  • I don't have a ghost touch on my Moto G4. Also even if it did, I would still get the phone. You're taking this way out of proportion and making it seem like it's a major flaw.

  • camera is very bad in moto g 4 note 32gb. need to check

  • I'm very disappointed with this phone. Moto G4 and G4 Plus has recurring ghost touch. Friends with same phone has ghost touch. Seems there is no fix. Don't buy.

  • Turbo charging is just one of the reasons. Following things add up to the problem - using the handset while charging - covering up the handset with shells / skins during charging specially. - taxing up the gadget beyond its capabilities. - using chargers other than provided with handset

  • in my case it shows overheating problem in normal charging and gaming.i think the turbo charger is responsible for this type of problem.

  • I bought my motorola G4 in Brazil and it came with HDTV and an antenna to plug into the headphone jack.

  • Gsmarena forgot to mention that this phone has excellent quality HD TV

  • I think since your phone's software is of US build, it will only get nougat when it is released for US moto g4.

  • Is this available in the Philippines? I only see the Moto G4 Plus not this one.

  • Can I update my Moto G4 to nougat, since I bought it from bestbuy USA and I live in Athens greece?our local agent told me that I can't ,because I bought it from USA!!! Please help me

  • I bought this phone in July as I wanted a new phone as my Samsung was a bit old, I have to say this is the best phone I have ever owned. It does everything my Samsung did and more, it is fast, clear, has a brilliant camera, sounds excellent etc etc. If you want the latest technology without having to pay 100s of pounds, this is the phone to get. I love it. It doesn't have fingerprint scan, but I'm not bothered about that.

  • It supports OTG.

  • y OTG not supporting in this phone

  • It's not that but dynamic range is a problem for it but hdr can fix it

  • Camera is not good

  • Seems like a decent phone. This is defo a budget smartphone. There are phones which cost more than this and have the same specification. I will be buying this cause it has a decent battery life, bigger screen, higher camera mp and you can run games like gta sa with out hardly any lag. My other phone, you will get lag all the time, this will defo be an upgrade. This phone is a bargain.

  • how to set selfie stick

  • Nougat is not currently availible for all moto g4 devices. It is currently only available in select countries such a india. Motorola said it will release 7.0 for all moto g4s in the future.

  • I never got the notification to update to Android 7.0 Nougat yet? All I am getting is 2Your software is up to date." Help?

  • Display>Sleep mode puts the phone in 'sleep' in, longrst, 30 minutes. While the phone is in sleep mode, it you receive a call, I often miss to respond to such a call. Trying to deactivate/terminate "sleep" mode without any success. Can anybody give me a tip to deactivate the "sleep" mode of MOTO G4 LTE cell phone ???

  • Plz tell me guys if i update this phone from android 6 marshmallo to android 7 the phone will hang or not

  • You have to tell us the error he gets. The only thing I can say is to hard reset for starters

  • Hi , friend of mine have this phone he tried to install a Viber app with different ways but he couldn't , could someone please help

  • Why don't you sue Motorola? If what you say is correct, you will win the case.

  • will the Moto G4 work with google cardboard (a google VR device).

  • Tesco but needs to be ordered

  • Be careful in regard to this phone. The specifications of this device are great for the money and most of the features are perfect, however not everything is in plain sight, The guts of the phone have some unusual things removed which are hidden by the buzz words of an 8 core CPU decent GPU and 2GB of ram... what the box doesn't say and most shop staff don't know is that it doesn't have a Magnetic sensor (no compass functionality) and it has no Orientation sensor. That is really unusual considering the first gen moto G that I upgraded from has both of these sensors. Personally, I would have preferred if they cut back on the camera or something, or made it a little more expensive rather than removing these features. I feel blinded by high in your face specs and wish I'd researched a little deeper before buying this, I just honestly never expected the device to LOSE features over previous generations. The performance of the device is fantastic for the price, but I feel that it needs to be more obviously listed to people when features are suddenly no longer there, cheaper devices have both of these sensors so in my opinion removing them from the G4 was rather deceptive.

  • Great phone for a great price. I opted for the 32Gb version and I'm not disappointed. Love the larger screen, the dual band wi-fi, the 13Mpixel camera. Media plays smooth. Web browsing is great too. But that may be a function of the 5Ghz wi-fi it's connected to. pictures are first rate. I loaded the Moto FM radio app so I could use the internal FM radio as well. The only nits that I have are that it feels a bit large in the hand, and the lack of bundled gallery app. In all, it's a good phone for a great price.

  • just use an external microSD and format it as an extension of the internal memory (then the OS sees it all as a unique internal memory!)

  • My Moto G⁴ XT1622 has some weird motion blur like effect. App icons leave a blurry trail when swiping in any direction and same for text. It started after I update my phone software recently. Is this a software problem?

  • Most users need it to be able to install large games, but Android 6 do it all wrong because the actual game, "engine", should still be installed on the internal memory and only gamedata on the external sd-card because if the game itself is installed on the sd-card it becomes unplayably slow! Android 6 also force every app and game to be installed on the sd-card, not on the faster internal memory first, after it is formatted as a part of the internal memory! This is a big problem, and have stopped me from playing games on phones anymore!

  • Where I can find a dual sim 32Gb storage moto G4????

  • Please anyone knows what is the sar EU for this device???

  • opoo f1s

  • I don't know if this appeals to you, but the Moto 4th Gen, with Android 6, allows 'adoption' of a SD card, as internal memory, which creates one single pool of internal storage (onboard + card), which can be used for nonmovable apps, or whatever reason you would want/need larger onboard storage.

  • Who really cares that it has no compass? Users that use their phone for more than Facebook and games. I, for one, chose a large screen because I use astronomy apps, quite often... or rather, I did. They won't work without a compass. Many nav apps don't work, or have reduced functionality, because they use a compass. MANY other types of apps use the compass(magnetometer). So, then, who cares? A LOT of people, who aren't you.

  • Correct, the screen specs are 5" for G4 Play and 5.5" for G4/G4 Plus. However... while I cannot confirm for G4 Play, or G4 Plus, I can say the G4 has 'soft keys' along the bottom of the screen, not the bottom of the bezel, which take up a significant amount of screen space, reducing practical screen size to about 5". I wasn't at all happy about it and think it's a very poor design element. I actually made a number of compromises with the G4 and while it's a pretty good device, on its own merits, I'm not so happy - non removable battery, no physical Home button, on screen soft keys and NO MAGNETOMETER!!! Seriously don't know what they were thinking, giving it A gyro, but NO COMPASS!!!

  • You must have the Moto g4 play, that has a 5 inch screen, The standard Moto g4 and g4 plus are 5.5 inch screens

  • I only have significant experience with a couple phones from your list, but performance, price and style, all come together quite well with the Nexus 5x... especially in the mint green. My chief problem with Nexus devices, as well as some others on your list, is lack of expandable storage(SD slot). I demand expandable storage and removable battery, and while I can usually overlook the battery, for a good enough deal, the expandable storage is typically a deal breaker. The Nexus is about the only exception I will make, to that rule. I'm currently using a Moto G4, which would be a 4 star device, but for lack of a magnetometer. Because I use a lot of nav and astronomy apps that use, or require a compass, I give the Moto only 2 stars, due to its very limited usefulness.

  • This phone does list USB HOST in the specs and I can confirm that it will read/write a USB flash drive, though I've not tried any other USB accessories.

  • No, screen tap, such as on an LG, does not work with Moto G4. It's frustrating me, because I went from a LG to the Moto and now I keep banging on the screen all the time. Nova launcher supports a screen tap gesture for app launching, but only functions once the phone is awake and screen has been unlocked.

  • 5 inches not 5.5

  • Agreed fantastic phone and a steal at its price. Loving running San Andreas smooth as buttah.

  • I have a moto g 4 and it is great, photos are great, and overall performance is amazing, i play gta san andreas on it with no issues.

  • Choose one of these, in descending order: -Nexus 5x -Moto g4+ -one+X It will take care of most of your needs. If you can opt for latest Xiaomi mi5s, it is best with latest of hardware and reasonable price ( nearly same as Nexus and one+ tags). Xiaomi UI is light compared to Samsung and others. Has good ram management too. Nexus is pure android, Moto nearly pure android.

  • does this ph support CDMA??

  • Please Help me...which is best...for overall...camera,performance,gaming :( Iphone 5s nexus 5x redminote 4 redmi pro moto g4 plus oppo f1s honor5x samsung j7 prime 2016 samsung j7 one plus X or any other???

  • Definitely moto g4

  • which one is more better? Motorola moto x play or Motorola moto G4 plus?

  • Hey Friends plz help me to suggest a good Mobile phone, Which one is great performace and stylish phone? oppo f1s redmi note 3 Lenovo k5 note redmi S3 prime Moto G4 Nexus 5x Gionee S6s Vivo v3 max Or Any Other Mobile?

  • Which one is better moto g4 or p9 lite?

  • Yes it does. I am using one

  • After doing months of research, I just bought the Moto G4 32 GB version and it meets all my expectations. It is fast, has a big, bright screen, great battery life and plenty of storage. Also runs on Marshmallow....Android latest operating system. Would buy it again and recommend it to a friend.

  • Hi Guys is someone know, if I purchase this moto G4 in US, does it support telco network in Asia like Singapore?

  • Hii is this phone support otg r nt

  • True, but if you download nova launcher prime, i believe you can enable that gesture.

  • P9 Lite or Moto G4?

  • hi, the phone is dual active. i tested this feature

  • Bought G4 2 days ago and had ghost touch at first charging (many complaints on lenovo site that turbo charging is to blame). I could not use the phone when charging. Got a replacement yesterday with a charger that looks the same however, now the phone will be completely charged in ...6 hours.

  • please confirm can I exchange moto G to another motorola cell.............

  • Another difference between plus and standard is fingerprint access.

  • Dimensions 153 x 76.6 x 9.8 mm (6.02 x 3.02 x 0.39 in)

  • what is the actual width in inches of this 5.5" phone

  • Is this voltie

  • How many hours battery charge?

  • Hi! I bought the Moto G4 Type XT1622 in Germany. The LTE band 7 (2600 MHz) is missing, but this band is used in Germany. Can anybody tell me why this band is missing? Or where I can buy this phone with this requested LTE band?

  • It's a good phone minus the bad build quality, the back pannel of mine creaks really loudly and it quite irritating. But I'm unsure if my phone is faulty or not.

  • really this phone is amazing .

  • Can you write notes like on a i phone?

  • amazon India shows g4 with 3gb ram. is it for real ? no promotions were made before its launch. now only difference in plus and normal one is the primary camera!

  • No DTTW, but Moto Actions helps you a lot. You just need to pick up the phone and then you can unlock it.

  • Thanks Anonymous, I placed an order for a 16GB/Cobolt blue and Motorola confirmed it is indeed dual SIM + SD, delivery in a week. However, something inportant to me which I overlooked, double tap to wake may not be an option. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

  • Yes it will! But you could buy a cover.

  • 2 sims + sd

  • The Moto Maker phones are supplied as dual SIM. Is that two SIM's + SD slot? Or SIM + 2nd SIM OR SD slot? Thanks

  • P9 may be better, but it is well over $200 more and I have no idea as to how durable Huawei is.... Moto phones are pretty well proven and now made by Lenovo which is an outstanding company.

  • Definitely. Just bought one and am very pleased with it. Hard to go wrong for $200. Some criticize that it has no compass, but who really cares. GPS works great and it runs fast and has a smooth UI. I am very picky with electronics, but am completely satisfied.

  • Nope the Note 7 has a 5.7" inch display while the moto g4 has an 5.5" inch display

  • Not true...GPS has nothing to do with compass.. GPS is tracked with satellites..not compass...gps will work..

  • This phone does not have a compass application..NO MAGNETOMETER in this phone...I called Motorola and confirmed this..this phone has NO COMPASS ONLY GPS

  • if by saying "4.3 os" you mean Android 4.3 jellybeen then yes it has android 6.0 planned upgrade to 7.0

  • Overall they are the same. But it depends if you want a fingerprint sensor and a little bit bigger battery. I recomend you to save some extra bucks and get the moto g4 plus, it has a better camera, more RAM, a laser autofocus and nearly stock Android which i like the most but thats my opinion if you like the k4 note go for it

  • This phone is bigger than the Note 7.........

  • Back plastic body metal.

  • It's cool it's fast and the Android is clean.

  • Plastic

  • this phone body is metal or plastic. please any user reply me fast.

  • Absolutely moto

  • I bought Moto G4 for my son. At least my son's phone has gyro and itse compass works better than my iPhone 6. If I didn't have the iPhone 6 as a benefit from work I would definitely buy a Moto G4 for myself also. Its value is superb. No other phone can mach itse features vs. price. To be honest, it is very light and the feel is a bit plasticy, but otherwise I have absolutely nothing to complain so far.

  • bt if i want to use this memory instead of external memory card..?? Then i think more memory is needed

  • what should i buy? Moto g 4th gen or lenovo vibe k 4 note

  • Phoneradar.com confirmed Motorola G4 and G4 plus are getting nougat update.Sounds great for the Motorola users.

  • i want to buy this phone. how i can buy from pakistan

  • This phone does not have gyro sensor which means the compass wont work this is not a software, its a hardware feature which i guess moto forgot to install(basic one) What does it mean? You will not be able to use google maps effectively compass wont work few gyro relying apps like pokemon go and other wont work effectively.

  • pls tell me anyone how to use composs app

  • Yeah. I recommend it. I love it. It has excellent specs for the price and my battery life has been excellent. I haven't really had any slowdowns or delays. The only people I wouldn't recommend it to are high graphics gamers. The processor can't handle them. Pictures are OK, not great. Good enough for Facebook, Instagram, and the like. I'm good with the picture quality. If I need really good pictures, I'll use a good camera, not a phone of any kind.

  • would anyone recommend this phone #imightgetit

  • Yaa bcoz it have no glossy finishes plastic. I m using black also

  • You don't need to worry about space 16 gb is more than enough for regular user only 1gb is consumed by system and which is already upgraded to marshmallow. From my experience a fully updated Moto g4 will use only 5gb of rom..

  • No magnet, so no compass. Sorry, don't know the answer to your other Q.

  • Does the moto g4 have a 4.3 OS, and a compass on it? I have state farm insurance and one of my discounts is the drive safe and save. It records information about the way you drive. I need to buy a new phone cause the one I have now is not compatible. Anyone able to help???

  • Would it be nice that could record 1080p 60fps...

  • -- What I really like -- Excellent Phone, at a good price. Crystal clear voice quality, could be a bit louder though. Supports Band-12 and VoLTE which enhanced significantly reception in rural areas. Support both GSM and CDMA which makes it very "portable" to almost every carrier. Excellent Echo canceling on speaker. -- The no so great -- Marshmallow is mediocre with Gmail, etc... this version is very clumsy compared to Android 5, especially when you wish Phone/SMS/Email using the Gmail Contacts DataBase (14 aug-2016) hope upcoming updates will fix this. Wish a real user's manual was available, indicating how to replace the battery. -- Wishes for next version -- Wish the next version has: 1) a magneto-sensor (Compass) 2) NFC 3) ideally a matte glass too (non glare). 4) Ideally USB-C 5) QI charging option

  • ppl, pls any one tell that, 16gb memory is enough, r we need to get 32gb, on long run the app updates r consuming huge space n memory is not enough, i am regular user, n i dont use any games r high end apps.. just for regular purpose is this enough... in 16gb how much can be used.. pls some one clarify.. thank u, love all..

  • Loving my new Moto G4. It has been a week and its stunning from every aspect. Heavy games for about an hour and it heats up. Turbo charge and it heats up. Decent battery backup. Super fast processor, response. Wonderful grip - you don't even need a skin! Crystal clear screen... Simply amazing!

  • Don't know why everyone keeps saying these phones lag or overheat. I've had mine over two weeks now and not a single issue. Device even with 2 gig ram is fast and smooth. Also during turbo charging and using the device it only becomes a bit warm like most phones do,never once has it overheated

  • Yes.. it supports otg. Pendrive, keyboard, mouse, usb fan, usb light, it works as power bank, card reader and u can also conect with iphone via usb otg cable... U can use ths device as a camera remote controller... Pls see this mobles vedio in youtube

  • Does the fm radio have a sleep timer functionality. Not interested in music.

  • Yes

  • does it support usb otg?

  • Hi. Im plan to buy moto g4 white color. Will white get dirty easily

  • hi friends tomorrow i will be planed to purchase this mobile give me the some suggestions of this mobile.

  • Bought it at BestBuy. I am using a SimpleMobile SIM and works pretty good.

  • Does the phone have the facility to insert signature at the end of the sms ? Could not activate it ..

  • P9 is a beast cel... not posible compare

  • I bought this on Amazon, returned, problems with sim card, after a few days did not recognize, regrettable case

  • On Prime Day picked one up for $125 from Amazon. So far a good phone, fantastic value.

  • Motorala G4 is really a good phone as it is giving very hard body as well as water protection.

  • yes, it's a water resistant phone.

  • How does this compare to the HTC M8?

  • For the price, it is an amazing value. Really nice HD screen, vanilla Android, decent cameras, great battery life (I get 5 hours SOT on average), and SD 617 + Adreno 405 performs admirably. Only problem I had with the phone is that it tends to overheat when using the camera for 5 minutes outside. The phone got as hot as 43°C! Even with the overheating, I don't regret buying this phone, one of the best budget phones out on the market (especially for those in the US).

  • Got the phone for 216$ with a $50 gift card from Best Buy. So $166 if I spend every penny of that gift card. For the price, it is an amazing value. Really nice HD screen, decent cameras, great battery life (I get 5 hours SOT on average), and SD 617 + Adreno 405 performs admirably.

  • Yes, it is water-resistant. You can splash it without worrying about it getting fried, but don't take it with you on a swim (why would anyone do that)

  • p9 best

  • Could someone help me between Huawei P9 lite or a Motorola Moto G4 (not plus)

  • Yes. It has gyros.

  • Getting Updates on Moto phones are not guaranteed now after acquisition by Lenovo. Now it the not the same Moto, which in past used to rule the world, Lenovo is trying to kill the Moto.

  • Have the phone. It's excellent. And what's with the instant complaints? What exactly do consumers expect for $199? This is one heck of a bargain.

  • YES

  • a phone without finger print scanner ....... its really annoying coz now a days most of the phone at this price range got the "fingerprint scanner"

  • i have had the Honor 5X. its a great phone but it has NOT got a GYRO. wich made be send it back. thats why i am probly going to buy this one Moto G4

  • There's no proximity sensor?? wtf

  • Good phone with a great full HD screen and a good processor. Camera quality is average. Light weight and very good to handle. Only problem I faced is the heating during the charging of the phone. I still will rate the phone bey highly because it's very smooth at its price.

  • Is this a water resistant phone??

  • They have very similar specs but the biggest difference is that the Honor is cheaper and has a fingerprint sensor and that the moto g will most likely be updated more.

  • Look at the section with specifications, it lists Sensors: Accelerometer, gyro. So, I would assume that the gyro is there.

  • Yes, it's a great bang for the buck phone for pokemon. I'd suggest buying a $20 battery pack too though

  • Huawei Honor 5X or Moto G4? They both have very similar specs to me, but I don't know much about this sort of thing.

  • Yes. You get $50 discount with the 32gb too and maybe more when you're ready to checkout.

  • Just got my 16gb and 2gb RAM moto g4 from amazon as a prime deal with the discount for ads. The specs in this site and others say Dual SIM support. But I don't see dual sim on my phone. Could anyone confirm if the specs are wrong or if amazon sells a different version of the phone?

  • so did I

  • Would this be a good phone to play pokemon go?

  • I'm seeing $199 for 16gb, $229 for 32gb at least according to Best Buy. 50 dollar gift card if you pre-order it.

  • Does the moto g4 come with a gyrosensor? I really need to know because there are some games that I would like to try that require a gyroscope.

  • Should I go for this or Huawei Honor 5c, which is the better option? I don't play games but I just want an overall good device, of this price range.

  • So did I understand that review correctly, it supports a double tap to wake up feature so I won't have to press the key every time I want to activate it? Or do I need to get some 3rd party app to get the support for that? Does this model overheat like the plus model, or less?

  • Dual sim both gsm ?

  • $125 for 16GB, $155 for 32GB, both come with 2GB RAM.

  • Is it 16BG version ? Is the prime deal valid for 32GB model as well ?

  • I just bought one for $125 from amazon because I'm a prime member, saved 50 for lockscreen ads and then there was an additional $25 off for prime members. Hoping it's a good phone though.

  • In the uk 150 pound

  • Did Motorola keep native VOIP/SIP support in this version? Phone -> Settings -> Calls -> Calling Accounts -> SIP Settings -> SIP Accounts They've removed it in previous MotoG generations.

  • I was between the same two phones, but I decided on the moto G because of the software updates, the battery life (I have read is a lot better the moto G battery life) and because of an offer where you can get a 50$ giftcard in bestbuy and amazon, if you care about the battery life a lot I would suggest to go for the moto G, but you can also wait to the oneplus x 6.0 update and check if there is any improvement in the battery life, that update it should be come soon

  • right now there is an offer in best buy and amazon (maybe other sites has the same offer) where you can get the moto G 4thGen or moto G 4thGen plus with a 50$ giftcard, in the US it cost 200$ 16gb moto G and 250$ moto G plus

  • There is NO COMPASS in this device

  • What is the price of this phone in your country ? Like India,China,US,any Europeans country price ?

  • i see what you did there. very clever my dear sir. im as well waiting for that grand amazon prime day sale of the moto g4 at 149.99... hell yeah

  • July 12th

  • i dont know if i shouold buy this one or the oneplus x, i care a lot about software upgrades and performance thats why i think this one might be better, what do you thnk?

  • Hello! Yes, works 100% in Portugal in 4g/lte mode.

  • Any OTA's for this yet to at least help the overheating? I want this as a spare phone but I'm worried about the heating.

  • what about moto g4 .......does it support us to be a best mobile user

  • I have it for a week now, no overheating whatsoever

  • The 617 is an octa core a53 with two quad core clocked at 1.5 and 1.3 ghz it will perform better than the 615 and it should heat up as the 615 doesn't over heat

  • Yes it does, go for oneplus x instead

  • does moto g4 gets heated up.plz rply how is snapdragon 617 chipset. plz give its pros and cons. reply plz

  • No led notification light and no e-compass ? Why would you release a modern phone without these ?

  • You may get it by paying the delivery charges :P

  • I don't like those big bezels in both Moto G4 and plus. No buy from me. ;(

  • Google photos is sufficient with auto update and backup of photos in Google server.when you change phone photo automatically downloaded in new Android mob.so there is no need of gallery.

  • 22 June

  • Does it have thumb lock feature

  • when will moto g4 be availabe on amazon ???

  • No NFC

  • No

  • No

  • no, it doesn't have nfc

  • I want to buy from USA, but I am located in Europe. I want to know if 4G LTE will function properly in Europe.

  • Does it support NFC ?

  • Does it has NFC support for android pay?

  • This is the wrong phone, you are talking about the G4 Plus, not the standard G4 (this one)

  • wrong phone, this is the moto G4, not the G4 Plus

  • Does it support double-tap wake up? Thank you.

  • Overheats, poor Voice quality, not a daily driver After close to a week of usage: Dual Sim: Sim1: configured for 3g Sim2: configured for 2g Apps installed: Whatsapp, Facebook, Facebook Messnger, Ghostery, VLC, Google+ Email accounts accessed: Only Google, one ID OOBE prompted for a ROM upgrade, upgrade succeeded. 1. Overheating issue persists, upon charging 2. Charges pretty fast, Turbo charger works, but discharges also very fast (battery life is not so good 100 to 90 percent after 30mins of browsing over wifi, sitting next to the router) 3. Occasionally freezes and you need to power off and restart (has happened twice so far) 4. Voice Quality IS WORST... the mic doesn't seem to work, need to be always on a 3.5 mm headset for the others to hear my voice 5. Guess deep sleeps or dozes off permanently. Does not autosync whatsapp messages for an hour or more 6. Data connection keeps getting dropped on 3G (Confirmed not an SP issue. My other phone blazes on the same SP placed next to each other) Pros: 1. Nice camera and good shots 2. Near Plain Vanilla Marshmallow, no bloatware 3. Good fingerprint sensor - pretty fast 4. Average display

  • How is the new G4 plus mobile interms of performance, picture clarity

  • Wrong! Sony-Ericsson was a joint venture, Sony did not buy Ericsson. When Ericsson decided not to go further in the mobile phone business, it simply sold its share to Sony, hence the disappearance of the Sony-Ericsson brand. Ericsson is still quite active in the Telecom market, though not in the mobile phone sector

  • neckred .. read the specs where it clearly states non removable battery

  • does moto g4 / moto g 4 plus have in built galarrey

  • lenovo has bought motorola. they are holding the brand name. may be sometime later; sony bought ericsson and used sony ericsson but later the brand name vanished and now we have sony (though sony was earlier there too)

  • Maybe I will ask same question here 3 times and expect an answer...hmmm?

  • If u want u buy it otherwise go for those behemoth phones of yours...

  • Why don't you go and ask Motorola ceo... Find out ur self and post the ans ,..

  • Moto G play is downgrade from 3rd gen. Why even release it?

  • And behemoth phones are there for poor people who can't afford a TV and PC. Using a phone as a media device, pfffftt.

  • No one cares enough to answer. Buy it and find out

  • It's Motorola. The box has a Lenovo logo but it also says manufactured and designed by Motorola. Inside the phone's firmware it also says manufacturer: motorola. The phone settings have options named "Motorola ID" and "Motorola Privacy" and if you take out the back cover of the phone it says "designed by Motorola"

  • it has 16 MP front camera not 13 MP. You can verify it by the TV AD motorola presents.

  • For gods sake tell me about audio quality via headphones.. Is it dts.... 3rd gym am asking,,, is there no one out there who is smart enough to ans this ...

  • It is 1080p not 720p.

  • Some one who got the mob pls post about audio quality ... Does it hav dts or dolly sound over good headset... Pls reply some one ... I hav put this question before also but none replied

  • Performance wise j7 (2016) is better . Nice optimisation of available hardware and latest software. loving it.

  • with 720p screen on 5.5" ? ugh

  • No this Phone with octa-core processor.......

  • performance is well but im face heating problem whether charging and browsing..

  • I concur, 5.3"+ handsets are on the way out, in N.A. anyhow. Maybe Asia is different, but their too damn big and at complete 1440p resolution overkill- WTF! I'll opt for the G4 Play

  • Midget phones are still available for you little people. See Moto G4 Play...

  • Doesn't it have proximity sensor?

  • you are right , 5" is comfortable, mobile configuration is good but only 5.5" disappoint to me

  • Is moto 4G support HD quality?

  • the other mobiles are using now with octacor proccecer why it is not octscore still quardcore old version

  • you have Moto G play.

  • Google have sold Motorola to Lenovo.

  • Stop complaining you small handed git.

  • Snapdragn 617 is not much of an improvement over the 410 really. The 617 is a tiny upgrade over the 615, the 615 was just about able to handle 1080p screens. The 617 is going to be the same as what the 615 was on 1080p.. Hmmm the 410 on 720p and the 617 on 1080p is probably going to feel the same. Pitty they didn't using the 650 OR 652 chipset on this Moto g4. I disappointed but for most users the 617 will be fine for everyday use. Anyways I guess if you want a fast phone then go for the new Moto X when it comes out or one of the other snapdragon 820 beasts.

  • You have Moto G Play man...

  • my question is when will it be available in the Kenyan markert.

  • You can either call it Lenorola or Motonovo.

  • About moto g4: 1.screen-It will be far better than g3,2.Performance:You will not notice much difference in that as Snapdragon 617 will handle full hd screen just like Snapdragon 410 handles hd screen ,3-Camera:It has a killer camera in this price range,4-Battery:Motorola has packed 3000 mah battery but it will not sufficient for power hungry 617.You may get 3:30 to4:00 hours screen on time.Thank you.

  • U calling it best of 2016 ? Samsung j7(2016) hasn't even got marshmallow ,hahaha yeah truly best phone of 2016,people do your research first and then post some comments

  • What about motorola g4 fast battery charging ?it should be standard now with all mid budget phones ,samsung j7(2016) doesnt have it and found website saying that it will cost in uk £250 while motorola g4 (not play or plus) will cost £169 in uk so,really? Samsung j7(2016) better than motorola ? Compare them again matey ,cuz clearly u forgot about that,i almost forgot ,even ppi is better with moto g4 :401 against 267 ,it makes diffrence doesnt it

  • Ridiculous 5.5" what was wrong with 5" i can't hold these fking monsters in my hand anymore. I'm staying with G3 for now and other 5" lower end phones because of screen/phone size. Fking nuts! What's next, 5.7" - 10" will completely replace 4.5-5.2" phones? 4.5-5.2" will have to be custom ordered from manufacturers? WTF???!!!

  • G TURBO has smaller display with smaller battery & doesn't feature fingerprint s.But it features a better design with water proofing.Excepting this evreything is almost the same.

  • yaaak its an ugly crap lookng ph. over price poor spec. my j72016 is the beast ph. far powerfull then shit g4. waste of money. go for j7 2016 .s.q

  • Does someone have any idea as how much this MOTO G4 32 GB would cost in Germany? also is it Single SIM type? I do not want to a dual SIM version :/

  • I was so excited to have learnt that the not-so-plus comes without a button in the front from the leaks. However the release meet that happened in Delhi yesterday gave an impression that both the variants could come with the fingerprint sensor, and I was disappointed because I find it ugly too. I am glad now to know that Moto G4 doesn't have a button in the front and I would have to have a sim slot free :) I can now bid adieu to my MOTOROLA MOTO G XT1032 SINGLE SIM 16 GB Single-SIM from December 2013!

  • lenovo moto g4 line up mobile's none them have waterproof.

  • Get LG its at the back.Simple.

  • Is the back cover changeable as usual? I hope so

  • major issue of this phone has single slot means one sim and low light camera not supported nfc

  • Motorola is dead. This is Lenovo.

  • And you my friend are just a tipical hater. If u don't like the design you can say that very simple. No need to bash

  • now Lenovo

  • i dont like fingerprint button on front overall phone feature best original branded phone

  • Not satisfied with the battery capacity

  • Is it Lenovo or Motorola.? What's this brand friends.? Iam getting confusion... Actually I like Motorola.

  • Looks like the Nexus 4.

  • Whats so bad about it ?

  • Lenovo...No👎 Motorola...Yes👍 know there 😠

  • Can't see the specs for the other Moto G4 phone launched today - the Moto G4 Play (5", 720p)

  • Should go for g4=5",G4 Plus=5.5"

  • RIP motorola :(

  • Looks like I'm getting a new phone. Does more than everything I need and so much better for value than the fruit brand phone that is sh*t. Or any phone over £200 really.

  • It's not a home button, but a fingerprint reader. It's present only for G4 plus, not for the regular G4. The picture is for the G4 Plus, not G4

  • Ugly home button
