Motorola Moto G5 - User Reviews

  • I downloaded app from app store to record

  • can you record on this phone, where is that option?

  • Yes,after changing settings it support volte

  • > It it connected to miss band 3 Not sure what this note exactly meant to say but the phone DOES support 4g band 3 (1800). I have just connected to Digi HU that way (which is ONLY using band 3). First, it didn't work but then I remembered I needed to configure the APN settings. So all is good.

  • It it connected to miss band 3

  • 1 February 2019 was the last security patch

  • Moto g5 not support volte

  • EU firmware didn't get security update yet (still 1 February 2019).

  • the latest security update was today (15-5-2019)

  • Could someone tell me the date of the last security update?

  • moto g5 is the sorriest phone i think i have ever owned ? everytime i turn it off then back on i have 2 apps that i have to redownload ? i mean every single time i turn my dam phone off

  • I have the 32/2GB version. The last Android 7 security update made my phone very slow and the battery would die very quickly. Recently updated to Android 8 (Oreo) and the lastest security patches (December 2018) This phone is once again fast and has good battery life. The calendar widget started to misbehave but deleting that app's cache fixed the problem.

  • Happens to android mostly to no note use (tauchwiz UI). Try clear cache partition, or backup and reser and speed will back as firsttime you run the moto

  • Thats common to android, worsen to me and other galaxy Note user. Try reset cache and if not working backup and reset.

  • I have been using bthe phone for about 2 years Good battery life that started to degregate after 1 year but is still acceptable. The phone is very robust it took many drops with minimum damage. My main problem is with the volume buttons and power button something in them is damaged and I press them very hard in order to have them working. Also after the last update to android 8.1 the phone starts to lag and became slower

  • Turning off auto brightness and auto sync might help

  • It's been a year since I'm using this phone. Overall it's a nice phone and pretty smooth in normal usage and did not notice any lags but i do not recommend this phone if u wanna play pubg in high graphics and 60 fps there are little bit frame drops even in lowest settings but its playable and i do have some heating issues and yeah writing this post with this phone

  • Did you buy to please your friends?

  • How do i solve power problems

  • better LTE speeds, better wifi speed ("a" band), fingerprint, scratch resistant glass, newer release date, better UI (almost stock). These all are not in REDMI 3S. So Moto G5 is wayyyyyyy better actually! I am using it now in Dec 2018 and it is so good!

  • did u receive oreo?

  • When moto g5 update to android p

  • decrease screen resolution

  • Nice and good phone.

  • Make factory Reset

  • After updating oreo the battery is drain fast just 4 hours screen on maximum Any advice and solutions???

  • Also in Turkey.

  • Got Oreo 8.1 about two weeks ago and yesterday I received 1st October 2018 security patch.

  • Moto G5 XT1671 with Freedom Mobile just got 8.1 update.

  • Just destroy your nerves . don't buy it very slow just good for basic.

  • Looooooooool

  • The phone "is afraid to see you" ?!

  • Picture in picture mode works on my Moto G5. You should also consider that not all apps support pip. True the security patch is older but at least Motorola updated a sub 200 dollar phone to Oreo 8.1 with a new security patch. It wouldn't surprise me if over 90% of Android smartphones in the 300 dollar price range have a much older security patch and never receive a software update. Motorola has also added 'audio effects' to the Moto G5 with the new Oreo update. It has a new ui compared to the older variant but it works very good. When you turn it on in the Google Play Music app the volume gets noticeably louder and better. I use the setting 'balanced' which gives you the best sound experience and loudness.

  • Oreo 8.1 came to Bulgaria! It works great on the Moto G5 2GB/16GB. Not a single glitch yet! Extremely fast and rock solid. Many setting have been moved to another locations, but I have found already everything I need.

  • My friends has Android Pie on their phones, and I have an Oreo with limited functionality... Very disappointing...

  • I have got my oreo update. (European Union) It has a lot of problems: -Many oreo features are missing (e.g.: "Turn on wifi automatically") -Many oreo features are simply not working (e.g: Picture in picture) -Outdated security patch. So it is not the full Oreo version, and security patches containing critical vulnerabilities are missing...

  • Received Oreo yesterday (Turkey).

  • Hi mado nano I am sorry to hear you have had issues with facial unlock services on your device. I regret to inform facial unlock does not work with this model of phone and your facial features, as the phone is afraid to see you so turns it off. If you want to have Face Unlock you must upgrade to the Moto G6 as it has built in emotional support. James, Lenovo USA support team.

  • oreo 8.1 update rolling in KSA

  • Oreo update received on Moto G5 3Gb ram version.Romania

  • how can i activat face secur

  • I never buy Lenovo products again. Moto G5 is insecure and obsolete. I have Android 7.0 with security patch of july...

  • No Oreo update yet for Moto G5 retail dual sim 2GB/16GB. Bulgaria.

  • I didn't receive Oreo update here in Saudi Arabia

  • Ok,Oreo 8.1 in Russia !!!!

  • I have G5 dual sim version, still running nougat 7.0 no oreo update.

  • I had received the update of Android Orio 8.1 yesterday here in Jordan

  • I just got the Oreo update in this morning on my Moto G5...Romania

  • More than a year have passed, and still no Oreo update for G5? Why?

  • No Oreo yet. Turkey.

  • Cast screen not work in MOTO G5 please any idea?

  • I have Moto G5 retail european version with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, but there is still no Anroid 8 Oreo update for this phone. Does anyone know is there going to be Oreo for this model or not?

  • Yes it has face id

  • Who got Oreo?

  • Iam using this phone since one year. no problem working well

  • Does this phone has face id ??

  • I bought this mobile from year ago and till now there is no update to Oreo, Motorola Company that belongs to Lenovo Company is dishonest.

  • I bought this mobile from year ago and till now there is no update to Oreo, Motorola Company that belongs to Lenovo Company is dishonest.

  • I know it takes time, but more details on the phones drawbacks are better than simply saying it's crap. Poor quality reviews don't help anyone.

  • It exist's 32bit ARM and 64bit ARM, just like i386 (desktop main architecture). Nowadays phones are starting to use 64bit ARM instead of 32bit ARM, just google it before talking about shit you don't know, sincerely, Brian

  • These phones don't use 32bit or 64bit They use ARM, different architecture, and different from 32 or 64bit

  • I am not an expert but I think the reason why it takes so long for Lenovo/Motorola to update the G5 series to Oreo is because they decided to use 32bit instead of 64bit.

  • Probably for latest G5s ,G5s plus .

  • Zero chance.

  • According other forum g5 series will follow. But first need oreo update if coming

  • According motorola blog ,Android Pie will be served up this fall for moto g6 plus, moto g6,moto g6 play, moto z2,moto z3 depends on market .Not Moto G4,Moto G5,MotoE series

  • Can you install apps on memory card if you can use it as default storage option.

  • Can we use SD card as the storage for Moto g5 -16gb version, my phone rans out of space every time... If you use SD card as your default storage, how much good is it? Phone is pretty smooth, I don't want to buy another now... Thanks in advance...

  • Does anyone else have problems with GPS after instslling July 2018 security patch? My GPS manages to locate me only as close as 15 meters. Sometimes it gets as close es 4-6 meters but very seldom. I noticed that navigation has become very imprecise after July 2018 security patch. The phone very often shows me driving through buildings or places me on the wrong street. Besides having no compass is not good for navigation. Maybe if Moto included a compass the GPS navigation would have been better. My old Moto G2 was much better and more precise regarding GPS navigation.

  • 4 or 5 reboots, all because of updates. Kept looking for updates until they were done. Once they were done, working great.

  • I have a moto G5 and i had alot of issues with reboots at first. I found out it to be a cheap micro SD card. bought a good quality samsung one and fixed all those issues.

  • My wife and I have both had Moto G5s for several months and are VERY disappointed. The reception is poor and the damn thing continuously reboots. A pile of crap as far as I'm concerned and I've had cell phones going all the way back to the bulky, heavy bags.

  • Yes, 3 slots

  • Have that 3 slots: 2 x SIM + 1 Micro SD?

  • I have xt1676 and it runs android 7.0 and it says your device is up to date. why they say it is update-able to 7.1 ?

  • I am using this phone over a year now, and no issues of any kind. Great battery life, great camera. Stop all crapware that you don't need. So, stop complaining! If you after a super gamer spend some real cash.

  • I'm done with this piece of crap! bought in April 2017, battery life below average, so much heating even in normal use, cannot use this phone without cover due to burn like feel in back panel. In my opinion, Snapdragon 4XX series processors are shit! Never buy phones who has SD 4XX processors- so much heat generation, crappy processing power, inefficient battery life! Insted of your wasting money on SD 4XX wait some time add some extra money and buy SD 6XX (you'll never regret!). I'm exchanging this phone and going to buy Asus Max pro M1 (got a sweet deal).

  • Not a scratch resistant glass at all. On some webpages is written it's got Gorilla Glass but it does not. It's super easy to scratch! So weird... supposedly cheaper Moto E4 does use Gorilla Glass! Also I don't like built in phone app - does not allow saving just to phone's memory, when opened it does not show keyboard and recent numbers as most of my previous phones did. It shows 'favourites' instead. Does not offer by default sharing screen to a smart tv (apart from using chromecast) like some other phones do although I'm probably getting picky here. On the plus side - removable battery (big plus! It's been so rare recently!), decent cameras, ok battery life, decent price (at least I got a good deal). Just remember to put a screen protector on before using it for the first time!

  • No Android 8 yet !!!

  • If you phone restarts all the time randomly, disable Google Now. It's not Motorola, it's Google that craps out (same as G4, where you can't disable it so thoroughly).

  • For 99 eur (122 USD) even better. That's what they sell it on bargain here nowadays. Very nice price / performance ratio.

  • Dears, [Solved] if someone complains from the battery drain (especially after system update) , try to make "reset apps preference " from settings>> apps . it worked for me and the battery is now last for long time.

  • Moto G5 released in March 2017 and you are commenting such issue in 2018. try latest versions for larger screen to body ratio.

  • Camera is good but the most ridiculous thing about moto phones is their screen to body ratio, I mean bezels are way more than any other phone compared to other brands within same price bracket and the other thing is their camera bump is so big and design is ugly ,moto is good in the hands of google moto g5 (3rd gen) is way more promising design is so good , 4th gen is ok but design is still ugly and 5th gen is ridiculously ugly, now looking for 6th maybe they broke thier own records in terms of ugliness ,in leaks bezels are way more than other 18:9 phones and for updates we have seen how faster they update their phones,so moto is not promising in the hands of Lenovo

  • One year completed..but android oreo sof. Not aveleble..

  • March update for RETEU is out.

  • Any one update there to android 8?

  • why would you pay more. This phone does what every I need and then some. For $200 USA it's the biggest bargen out there.

  • Motorola built quality match siemens, suits a lot drop, I can get 4bar of edge, where other phone no signal, crystal talk was invent by motorola so voice truly clear

  • January update (NPPS25.137-93-4) for RETEU is out.

  • I had this phone for 2 and a half months now and I'm very very happy: The first thing is that is CHEAP and that's very important before starting the comparison.... Awesome screen. Very good pictures, unless you use the zoom option. Work fast (I have the 3GB version). Can heat a lot with some big apk. The battery charge fast and last through the day with intense use. Good mobile reception but sometimes disconnect and connect again from WIFI without a reason. I'm a little clumsy so let's say it has suffered many many falls and hits that could all been fatal... BUT not even a scratch in the screen, even if the metal back show some. Too bad the update to 8 is taking forever to come.

  • Search for " Moto file manager " in play store

  • Worst phone ever. Unreliable. Restarts frequently. It does not get security patches regularly. Obsolete Android version. At this price level this is the worst phone I have ever used.

  • Best phone in this price, full hd display,3gb ram, fingerprint sensor,13 mp camera and octacore processor.

  • Are u trying to move where the app is running from, or where it gets downloaded to from the play store before installation? My SD card is full of app downloads (.apk files). Annoying but I just delete the folder occasionally.

  • Quite a few problems with this phone as others have described. Certainly not like the Motos of old. My biggest bugbear in that the contacts are not stored in the phone or sim , but in "the cloud". It might suit some people but not me. I still use non-smart phones when travelling and need all my contacts on the sim when I swap it out. And no compass in such a new phone??

  • No compass and can't cope with a call and using the internet at the same time! Often freezes and refuses to come back to life for a fairly long period of time. I would advise you to avoid this particular handset.

  • Xiaomi redmi 4 note, all day long! Great phone with big battery at a low cost!

  • Well, I get to the conclusion that an iphone is better!!!!!! Never buy a MOTOROLA

  • go into settings, then apps and change internal storage to external. Or set up the memory card to act as main storage, remember though that some apps will run slower on the SD card!

  • I can on mine, go into settings, then apps and change internal storage to external. Or set up the memory card to act as main storage, remember though that some apps will run slower on the SD card!

  • You can't, they have some bug and won't bother to fix it...

  • Guys! After using nearly 1 year this phone I've come to one conclusion- "NEVER EVER BUY MOTOROLA'S Phone again!" Reasons- I had bought this phone thinking that I'll get frequent updates and faster Android O update than most other phones but till now I'm hugely disappointed by this crap & cheap company Lenovo! By adding just 1000/- INR I could buy Mi note 4 which was the generation ahead than this phone but I preferred this phone thinking about Motorola quality and stock android exp. but now I realize that Lenovo is making a fool of the customer in the name of Motorola! Nothing in this phone is worth mentioning except display and camera (4 out of 5 stars for these 2 things in the same price range) rest all hardware, software & looks is hardly worth for 2 stars. My thoughts are same for all other models as well which is released by Lenovo in the name of Moto, so my recommendation for myself and for others- Never buy these shit again, It's not worth your hard earned money!

  • I m trying to move apps form phone storage to SD card can anyone help me for the same

  • J5 '17 vs Moto G5 vs Moto G5S? Why?

  • Perfect mobile phone for this price. Now in march in Germany price is aroun 110-139 euro. I buy it for 111 euro, and I'm very very satisfied. Everything work perfect. Battery is great and plus it's removable! I don't need to talk about screen, it's perfect! 1080x1920! Charging is perfect, you get 10w charger. And for 1 hour and 30 minutes i get around 85 %. Last 10% is very slow. Camera is great in good lighting. But camera is main difference between budget and expensive phones. Yes, I recommend it!

  • True

  • Terrible phone: 1. Poor quality screen: my Lumia 735 was cheaper and has much more accurate screen colors. 2. The automatic brigthness is terrible. 3. Infrequent security updates, I've got the security patch level november-2017 with 3 month late. 4. I have to reboot the phone sometimes to be able to connect it to my computer via usb cable. 5. The maximal exposure time is very short -> it is impossible to shoot usable night photos.

  • Me too, few days ago.

  • I got it too. I just hope Oreo comes out by the end of Feb.

  • I've just got the Android security patch level November- 2017. Anybody else??

  • I too have this problem sometimes I am on a call and it just restarts

  • The battery life was good. The screen was good. The colours were washed out. It was snappy and smooth. The only thing I couldn't stand was Googles's desperation to have my phone phone contacts. There was no option to store to SIM or phone memory - only Gmail! This drives me crazy. I sent the phone back.

  • It‘s quite funny as I had a samsung a3 and it had all and some too but couldn‘t find a file manager

  • It restarts it is just me or someone else also has this problem ?

  • Wish they made them pocketable again. It would be so much nicer with a 4'' screen

  • What a disappointment after my G3! A lemon in every way. Terrible battery life even with no apps running, no location, etc. it drains 20% sleeping overnight. Terrible camera with slooow response after tapping the shutter button... when it doesn't freeze and say "camera error". It dumped random contacts one day, uninstalled the micro SD twice, losing pictures and apps. Everything is slow and jerky in processing. Almost have to destroy the back to pry it off. I sold mine on Craigslist and got an LG X Power 2 which has an amazing battery and actually functions without crashing. Apparently, there is a G5S coming out now to try to solve some of the many, many flaws. Thanks for destroying the Moto G, Lenovo!

  • G5 OFC

  • K8 definitively

  • what is current android security patch level on this phone in which country?

  • Moto g5 or lenovo k8 plus.

  • Anyone got Oreo 8 update. It's taking too long time. Motorola was among the first to rollout a new updates. What's happening?

  • one of the best mobile phone I have never ever seen .,

  • I'm sorry to say but mine Moto G5 xt1676 with 3gb rom, which I bought 10 days ago, is very disappointing in terms of some things that I took for granted in my recent phone(Lenovo S1 lite). 1. Cast. I can't cast on my smart TV screen from G5 cause it needs Chromecast to buy (no wireless cast without). S1 lite had that option and it worked perfectly. 2. No compass??? 3. No light vibration in calls when other party answers. 4. No led notification for messages or mail... 5. On mobile data I can't turn off 2G data. 6. Percentage of battery on status bar is practically invisible (bought app from Google play but it shows on left side of screen) 7. In lack of light camera very very very bad. 8. Automatic brightness is disaster.

  • when the android well lunches?

  • Mine, OTG is working

  • Heating is relative, when compare galaxy y with no GPU, g5 consider a bit heat, but g5 has GPU so is normal heat

  • My Moto G5 is amazing! Battery last me almost 2 days, its super fast and worth the price. No issues at all since it got it and I really love this phone. I got the 2GB RAM version with 32GB of memory. The camera is fast and great quality pictures, lots of space (even after installing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Modern Combat) plus all the other apps I use on a daily basis (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, WorldStar, and more). I have nothing but good things with this phone and I have about a week with it. By the way, I have no over heating at all!

  • I cannot find the 32GB / 3 GB RAM version in Italy :(

  • Heating is most likely caused by high CPU activity. To check this, go to device help app, choose "fix", choose "device information". Normally, device activity should stay below 10% unless you are running heavy games etc. I had this issue some time ago. I cleared the system cache partition, monitored app power dissipation (settings - battery) and removed couple of suspicious apps (including 3rd party antivirus apps) and did a soft reset (removing battery for few seconds does the same). Check a post on Lenovo/Moto forums by searching for "high CPU activity". These helped for me, no issues after that.

  • All good, but the processor and the battery are not.

  • Very good phone.no heating problem and good display

  • About the heating issue, I had same problem for first month, and then it stopped. Just give it some time and it will be all good...

  • i bought this phone 3 months ago its suffering from heat i dont know why what ever i use it or not it become hot when i checked temperature of battery it was 49 degree !!!! also i have another problem , i couldnt connect device with led screen using hdmi dongle

  • Did you count money depreciation? Velocity was flagship, you at least try moto z play. Now days export to sim not suport, just sync to gmail and will appear on ypue next Android

  • It is really disappointing that Video calling option is missing in G5 and user is dependant on third party apps, I'm hoping you guys would add this feature in upcoming patch soon

  • You 100% right. Moto G5 is a great phone. Those who's pay less but expect more, keep changing phones. They never be satisfied. I like the simple version of Android. Just what you need fort everyday use.

  • Motorola Moto G5

  • Motorola is by far best quality. If you looking best value, Chinese phone just look as better value because same price but bigger size of RAM but speed is different story and cause performance not in par Motorola

  • Hey guys, i have been comparing and searching for a good mobile for a long time, and i am confused which is better in performance specially in the long term of use: Xiaomi redmi 4 note, Nokia 5, or Motorola moto g5 regardless price

  • Moto india customer care is verybad. No proper spare or service. I have contacted then to replace a faulty charger they told me to give phone for 2 weeks. Why they need mobile phone to replace faulty charger. ?

  • Why didn't gsmarena do a full review of the Moto G5 and G5+?

  • Top budget phone, very fast and great full hd display

  • After having a HTC velocity, i am a bit disappointed in this phone. Given that i paid the same dollar amount but 5 years later I was expecting better. But it seems all the apps are very simple with very little extra. A few things really bug me. Its not possible to use a compass or startracker app as the phone does not appear to have that sensor. Also i could put my old sim card into the phone and import all my contacts but i cannot export back to the sim card, nor can i store my contacts only on the sim card like i could with my old phone. I might actually have to ditch this one if i can find a good one that fits in my pocket.

  • don't expect to get more space out of samsung as it comes with more than 4 apps/services.

  • Its a raw os because it is close to stock android. If you want all the features that you could ever want, get a Samsung.

  • Nice Review :) (Y)

  • I got my Moto G5 3 days ago (Wednesday morning) and I followed the instructions to a tee, by charging the battery to 100% before I started to use the phone. After that, I downloaded and installed all my apps (e.g a different launcher, icon packs, lots of widgets etc) and inserted a 32 GB memory card with movies, music, pictures etc. It took a couple of hours to arrange everything, the way I want it, and I was listening to FM radio the whole time. When I was finally finished, the battery level was still at 82%! After that, I watched a 2 h 10 min long movie, had a looong SMS conversation with a friend, tried out all the different camera settings and last, but not least, I made a phonecall that lasted 20 mins. After allt his, the battery level was still at 66%! I don't know what everyone else here are doing with their Moto phones, but apparently, you're either doing something wrong, or you got a dud phone! This phone is worth every penny and more! I LOVE IT, and I would recommend it 100%! (Note: I have the 3 GB RAM version.)

  • yeah the ohoens cool i guess

  • huhuhuh..u miss ur mobile phone ,my mobile has been stolen from me too under the threaten of knife and i miss my mobile too...Prices here make humans monsters...

  • WHY TO USE 3rd party File managers. The problem with this handset is I already got only about 9 GB out of 16GB because as soon as we unbox the phone & go to Play Store we have to update 1) Clock 2) Calculator 3) Calender 4) Messages. and several other Apps. This takes us extra space The question is why Moto provided such a RAW OS? They could have customised it so that after taking the photos one can zoom it in camera menu itself similarly they could have customised the file manager which could have served the purpose of three apps jointly ( File manager, Photos, gallery) Very simple example we can not even rotate the photo in case we need

  • recently I purchased MotoG5. Battery getting drain out very fast, with in 4/5 hours without any use or any application running, even Net is Off. Sometimes phone becomes unresponsive. already read remedies provided previously, but it does not solve my problem.

  • i never had a previous moto phone but ok 1) it gets me through the day easily 2) i have a case on all the time and so do others most likely 3) not on mine 4) i really don't mind it 5) aren't there other third party file managers available seriously, what are you guys doing to your phones? mine works just fine and even i use it quite a bit (youtube, spotify, social media and the occasional game) i must also add that i have the 2gb variant, so not even the top one. if you're coming from a major flagship from max 3 years ago, you have to keep in mind that this is like a $200 phone, not a $700 one.

  • Actually in fact truth is this phone is not as good as earlier Moto phones 1) Battery backup is Very Bad 2)Body is not metal only back over is COATED WITH Some material 3)Camera hangs if one tries to view photos 4) someone here says Heating to 45°c is normal- This is RIDICULOUS 5)Very inconvenient FILE MANAGER ,Very less options available NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

  • This is a good phone overall, but the battery life is so bad. I have to charge it at least twice a day: sometime in the afternoon and at night while I sleep. I've tried turning off data and Bluetooth while on WI-FI and it does help a bit. But I need to play around with apps and battery options a bit more. Fast charging is okay, so far my A5 2016's was better in this aspect. This has a small 2800 mAh battery, and it takes around an hour and a half for a full charge. My mom's LG 4000mAh battery takes roughly 2 hours (1:58hrs), and it doesn't support fast charge. Everything else is good, camera is good, games run smoothly, multitasking is awesome ( I've got only 2gb of ram, so I'm guessing 3gb performs even better). But yeah, keep the charger with you at all times.

  • 1. no camera protrusion here 2. had no experience 3. ??? sorry, i can't understand 4. yes, but note taking apps like evernote take up barely any storage. 5. swipe left 6. that's (mostly) stock android for you 7. duo came preinstalled on mine 8. ok 9. does any phone under £200 have dolby? 10. i can live with it 11. i can live without it 12. fits in my hand perfectly

  • Lucky. I'm still on the January security update and no signs on updates.

  • mine android security patch level is august 1, 2017, i updated yesterday. maybe next is android 8.0 update.

  • Maybe you should stop throwing your phone at things?

  • Bad support. Security patch level still at March 2017 and no update to 7.1. Regarding software support not the same as first and second Moto G.

  • I bought this because I had a Moto G previously. Navigation very bad because of missing compass. Direction shows anywhere when walking or driving. Also battery life got worse significantly after 1-2 months. I dont have many apps installed.

  • Buy Samsung if you want apps to do everything for you...

  • I bought the standard G5 having returned the G5Plus because it didn't have a compass. Your site said the standard G5 did, but now I have it, I find it doesn't. Please update your details and now I need to find a phone that does have a compass.

  • which is best moto g5 {or} meizu m3 note??

  • Heating is normal, I have checked with customer care they said that long time use or heavy use can cause temp. rise to 45C (normal). but if u r using ur phone without cover this feels too much on ur palms.

  • I threw this phone high speed at my radiator and it did not make a single scratch, but when I drop it on the road outside, there are small scratches. Still very durable.

  • g5xxxx

  • Im sorry, very immune to scratches. it only gets scratched by what you do to it.

  • You must be talking about another phone, dude!!

  • Moto G5 doesn't have compass Sensor. This makes you difficult in using Maps. You have to rotate manually maps to get idea of roads.

  • nonsense complaints. learn how to use smartphones. just saying.

  • I assume it's better than my Xperia E5, and has great customs rom support and the development community is very active on XDA forum if you want to test Lineage os on Moto g5, that might change your mind.

  • Is there a 32GB variant with 3gb ram?

  • worst phone i have seen in my life, list of drawbacks is long: 1. camera is protuding out a lot, camera lens prone to get scratches. 2. moto customer care is worst, they said i didnt ask you to buy the phone. 3. one can not even share a phone contact on sms, it can only go by sms. 4. there is no option of making notes. 5. no option of viewing camera pic the one you have clicked, one has to come out of camera and view the picture. 6. no gallery, only google photos 7. no video call 8. no compass 9. no dolby, not base. 10. heating problem 11. a very simple feature like select all is also not present. while if one wants to delete the some pictures or sms and has to select one by one than delete. 12. not a very handy phone.

  • Very Disappointing Experience unlike earlier Moto phones this is worst phone . Camera probably not 13MP. strangely with Flash ON documents are illuminated while objects appears less focussed RINGTONE volume very low. Also call volume is very low Even with Snapdragon& 3GB RAM,Not only apps but dialer also HANGED I am unable to disconnect call , sometimes need restart.(No Option TO Restart in Power button) Profile schemes are not convenient, ie in silent mode everything is silent ,No vibration no song listening on headsets Moto should have given customised OS. No protection on screen. Body is plastic only coated with metallic material. Don't know why but my phone heats up during NET and Wi-Fi pros : Fingerprint is Smooth Lightweight

  • Well wow. These are two completely different devices. The redmi note 4 has a great CPU and chipset and a huge battery. On the other hand its camera is below average. While the Moto G5 probably has the best camera in its price band. While its CPU and chipset are much weaker.. even the 3GB RAM doesn't make it good enough for heavy gaming. Its weaker platform is probably why it's equipped with a small 2800 mAh battery. However both devices have good screens, though the note is half an inch bigger.

  • Poor sound quality Photos take so long to load Touch is really very good.

  • My review after using this device for 2 months. Pros: Butter smooth and no lag. Touch works extremely fine. Fingerprint reader is blazing fast. Apps open super quick. Battery life under Indian sim-Average. Have to charge two times a day. Foreign sim-Excellent battery life and gets more than one day. Camera works spectacularly in daylight. Cons: Camera struggles a bit during low light. Takes little less than 3hours to charge. Very immune to scratches. Bad speaker quality. No Moto dimple. That's all. Perfect for the price you pay. Looking forward to the next Moto devices.

  • No Security Updates since March 2017 in MOTO G5 since Lenovo took it over. After sometime just name moto will remain & everything will be lost

  • Which one has a good camera: Nokia 5 or Moto G5?

  • Moto g5 or xiaomi redmi note 4? And why?

  • Hai bro..wat abt heat . I just on my net suddenly it's getting heating. To avoid this heating.. If I go to this (25.137-73) update it may solve it or not

  • Just make sure you charge it well the first time- what do you mean something on screen?

  • I bought this device today but I am unable to start it as battery is out of mobile also their is something on screen. Should I remove it? Plzz anyone help me.

  • It has near stock Android, so the Gallery app is called Photos.

  • I doubt the display is any better as they are both IPS. Gaming performance is decent for me, as I only play light and casual games, e.g. Crossy Road or Dragon City. They work great for me.

  • Can i exchange my Moto G5 Plus with Moto G5S Plus?

  • Go for Moto G5. Also it is more faster.

  • Hey, bro , i m gonna bye it. Are u sure about its display , i saw a review, they told that xiaomi redmi 4x 's display is better than this , but how its 400+ ppi density where redmi 4x is 296 only ! ?? And i m not a gamer, but sometimes i like to play some game like ashphalt 8 or mc5 , but its only sometimes, so in this case does the graphics go well?

  • Yes... Im also facing same pbm Its worst phone... I wasted my money Now regretting

  • I have purchased a new g5 bt it's not good becoz of poor/zero battery backup.

  • while charging my phone... its heat up too fast... while playing a game for 10 to 15 it's start heating up... anybody here... who is facing same problem????

  • i got moto g5 i coudnt find photo gallery as usual other phones

  • I bought the device from Jumia Egypt couple days ago, so far so good. my question is that I had an accessibility feature on my Samsung device that was stolen from me before getting this device; it is so useful to me, The feature was when I dial any number and the other party respond; the device gives me a light vibration so I get to put it on my ears. Does this device has something like that?

  • Moto g5 or nokia 5. I want good camera and display.

  • Read full space.

  • Read full space.

  • Moto g5 or nokia 5. I want good camera and display.

  • Dose the phone have compass?

  • According to the specs, this phone does not support the LTE bands used by T-mobile, which a quick google search says are 2, 4, and 12

  • i wish they will sell backplate with dimple on it

  • hi any one can help me i have moto g5 model xt1676 the internet is no working display E no LTE.I have t mobile sim,sim in other phone work well.any wrong with settings,if yes please post the new settins thank

  • did moto g5 model xt1676 support tmobile lte in usa

  • this is very competitive phone compare with other phone specifications, display quality is good, front camera is good & rear camera is average.

  • It just works, for 170-180 euro. Plain android with a few gestures from motorola (fingerprint navigation is awesome). Decent battery which can be replaced anytime (no struggle when starts to deteriorate after a couple of years). Camera does its job. Missing stereo speaker, magnetic sensor and NFC but hey, euro are missing from the price as well. You really can't complain for missing features if you can get it for less than 180 euro. It'd be just great if Motorola/Lenovo plan to release a 7.1 update.

  • LG K10 does not have a good screen, colors are washed out and does not seem to be as responsive as the Moto G5, I found my self having to tap twice to go back and forth or open apps. The Camera on the LG K10 is not good. The Moto G5 camera takes impressive pictures which are sharp with great colors.

  • After 10 days of use nice device. I don't face any problem . Better phone for its price.

  • Let me give you very honest review after using about 2+ months Screen quality is awesome! the camera is great in this range (struggles little bit in low light), speakers are average as well as sound quality (my redime 2 prime has much better sound quality than G5), touch response is awesome and smooth, the battery is Ok not very good, heat sometime when running heavy apps or games(better use a cover if u don't want to feel it), lightweighted, UI is blazing fast and simple till now never feel any lag in my phone but I miss some functions and shortcuts which was in my redmi 2 prime, one thing I specially wants to mention- app updates from google play store is doing very very fast (for same updates redmi 2 prime takes atleast 3-4 times more time, finger print sensor response is very good (although I have disabled after some time so that I can read & respond notifications on lock screen), some bloatwares are there which I can't uninstall (Amazon apps), cell & Bluetooth reception is very good but I think wifi is little bit weak compared to others phone (also sometimes I have to make manual connection to wifi source which already saved in phone but this is very very rare) If you need any other info from me you can ask.

  • Anyone else having battery issues? Brand new and I hardly use it all day and the battery drains way too fast. Considering they advertise an all day battery and I lose half its life during an 8 hour work shift yet my iPhone SE was always at like 85 percent or higher.

  • No suspicious here. My review was honest. This phone is not very good.

  • Don't bother with this phone. Battery is poor Camera is worse than specs. Forced Google everything into the phone. Can't delete bloatware.

  • Great phone, not one issue,by looking at the names of people saying it is a bad phone, one would have to be somewhat suspicious.

  • You have not specified even one reason to justify your observation

  • In Brazil the assistence is poor, espesific in Curitiba

  • Wouldn't advise buying. Got phone and couldn't find a fault camera good everything perfect but it would not connect to any wifi's , some problem with the software and tried numerous things and no luck. Luckily i have warranty so i returned it. Annoying that it had this fault as it is a brilliant phone but it is a common problem on all motorola g5.

  • If you really want a G5 series, go for the plus. It's more expensive, but outclasses this one in every single day and is worth spending the money on. If you really can't afford the g5 plus, avoid the 2gb ram options at all costs. Smartphones shouldn't still be offering only 2gb in 2017.

  • This was my worst buy ever, even worse than my Lumia 640! First sim card slot stopped working! Call reception was the worst ever, and the sound level is too low! And no compass/magnetic sensor!

  • I wonder why people are writing rubbish about this phone, personally I feel it is great, the camera is really good, not that much in low light, it never lags, looks good and is better than most phones that cost 15000, I really love it! and It works so smooth like no other samsung did, go for this phone without a doubt!

  • I think your tempered glass must be covering the microphone

  • Simply it is a very bad phone.i am one of the user of motog5 mobile.please dont duy this moblie and one.insted of buying this phone it is very better to through ur money in dustbin

  • Thank you friend. I totally agree

  • Well said. You deserve Nokia or IPhone only. Unless u bought it from China seller who gets rejected phones go n use warranty for petes sake.

  • Sony Xperia L1 mobile support 4g network? in india please confirm

  • BEST PHONE EVER !!! Only one thing that WIFI signal detecting is not strong and some time WIFI messenger calls interrupted.

  • I have this phone (3 GB RAM version) and it is good for gaming, battery is OK and camera. Best phone for 200€.

  • Hi, Can anyone help me? I bought this phone a few weeks ago, my only problem is making calls. When I make/receive calls, people cannot hear me, even though I hear them fine. I have to put it on speaker or headphones, is there something I can do to fix this?

  • Well Said Bro, its really worst

  • Descent camara, good display, good sound quality, battery life moderate. Overall a good phone at a good price .. worthy phone

  • i love this phone, my mom got it for my birthday

  • worst mobile. I bought this phone on may 2017. Apps which i installed from playstore are not working properly for the first month. And now i couldnt download anything, it shows an error message "download was unable to complete, limited storage space". I tried many ways to fix it but couldnt. I have more than 10 gb externally and 5 gb internally. But still i couldnt download anything. Am fed up with this mobile....

  • Camera is so bad, screen is not sensitive, no recommend to buy this poor phone.

  • agree

  • Go for k6 if you want a phone with complete sensors

  • i am using this phone moto G5 from last 12days User available only 10.03 GB phone mention 16 GB Back camera13MP is poor not good front camera is ok When we chating , use net or play game then little heat Battary not work full day i think worst phone Please dont buy this phone Go with only Samsung

  • I would choose this one, mostly because Lenovo K6 has got a non-removable battery, which means you might need to throw away that phone after 2 years

  • This does not have a compass I downloaded a really good compass app and it would not let me use it.

  • this phone or the Lenovo K6 ?

  • it won't get 7.1 they're gonna just ignore it and go for the 8.0 >i think

  • When will i get Android 7.1.1?

  • Hi Friends, Bought Moto G5 two days back from amazon.in ....tired of waiting for nokia from last two months..i needed the phone urgently so i bought it..Giving you a brief info. of my findings about the phone moto g5 16gb_3gb RAM. Pros: 1. Amazing display, its really sharp..viewing angels are also good. 2. Fast charging works, from 0-61% in an hour 3. Still found no lags. 4. camera quality - Both are nice front & back...for the price camera is really good. no complaints here. 5. Fingerprint sensor - amazingly fast..works great. 6. Light weight & easy to hold in hands. Cons: 1. Biggest con i felt was call quality, its not great ...you have talk a little bit louder for the other person to hear and vice -versa. when u recieve a call it felts like other person talking slowly and if you put your device at max10 to hear you will still feel its kinda low. Also voice has a bass effect to it. Also jio volte calls might be choppy. I previously had lumia 630,730 and 640 and call quality is just truly amazing. This is my first android phone and I will give 5 out of 10 in call quality. It was the biggest downside for me..i hope some software release might fix it but now its lenovo :( 2. It did not detect my wifi at first..i had to restart the phone after doing normal setup. And then i had to manually enter my SSID for the network and again restarted the phone. but after restarting again it took approx . 10 min to detect it..now its working fine. 3. Phone really heats up when charging...yep you heard me right .fast charging heats up the phone or SnapD 430..so be use to it. 4. Also you want to put good tempered glass protection as glass looks fragile. 5. Due to single Loudspeaker, the output quality is not so good but yeah its loud to an extent you can hear it..do not expect much from it. so that's it for me.. i will review the same after month also...lets c if i get some fixes or not.

  • how can i reset the phone can any one guide me my phone is not working i can't abel to open setting

  • Great phone .if you whant to bé big think big

  • No compass, nfc, infrared, a phone for a regular consumer, nothing special.

  • will receve 7.1.1 update? moto g4 alredy have.

  • 2 sim card slot and 1 sd card slot, separeted

  • Doe moto g5 has a hybrid sim slot or can we insert both sims and a memory card.?

  • Aah..Okay,thank you very much for replying.

  • No, there isn't. The phone uses only ambient display to show notifications

  • Is there a LED notification on the G5,or it just uses the Moto Display?

  • Recently purchased while I am in conversation the phone going to hold automatically or maybe my ear touching I want to complaint on this I was just looking whether any similar problem

  • Does this have wifi calling?

  • That list is wrong! Moto G5 do NOT have any compass, magnetic sensor!

  • Volte?

  • Can I install App or move it to the external memory card ?

  • should i buy this phone?

  • Umm.... There is a compass. Read the sensors list.

  • It's March 2017

  • Very good bargain. But it has no compass.

  • loud speaker is very low

  • Can anyone tell me whats the security patch level for Indian model?

  • The Moto g5 has three slots which means you can have two SIMS and a micro SD card in the phone. This is a good feature of this phone.

  • My phone is 3GB which I am pleasantly surprised with.

  • From where u purchased the mobile? I am not getting it anywhere offline. I am in delhi ncr.

  • This phone is i have to reset after not starting please reply

  • i have problem with headphone jack not work properly of this phone moto g5

  • Check the earthing

  • I purchased this phone Moto G5 in May 2017, but the glass of my phone has broken. Therefore can l get the glass for my phone on line. pl. let me know, as the glass is gurella.

  • No

  • I own a moto g3 as well as now using G5. before telling anything about Sound volumes in G5. Just use a moto G3. Then you can realize how much volume a smartphone can deliver for music. Moto g3 volume simply rocks. Amazing phone.

  • Does this phone have 2GB RAM or 3 GB RAM ?

  • bor sure if I'm the only one who experienced this, as I read all good reviews on Moto G5. I bought Moto G5 on 15th Jun, but when I charged the phone, the back cover was giving a shock (sorry if that not the right English). I wine t for a replacement and got another piece on 20th Jun and even the second piece ended up giving shock while charging. My experience so far with G5 hasn't been pleasant and planning to go for some other brand.

  • For how many months I am reviewing and comparing this G5 to different phone with same level. Now I can say, what I expect is what I got! In terms of Specs, this phone is Excellent Phone...

  • Bought this a month ago and am not disappointed. From my previous old phone I like the removable battery and option to include SD memory (...and format that to main memory if I ever need that). The 2Mb RAM makes a big difference to the number of apps I can use and and the speed. Love opening it with a fingerprint. The screen is bright enough to use in sunny conditions. It is fast to charge to 50% if very low. The volume and power buttons are responsive. Bluetooth works extremely well and aerial gets my wifi signal even at bottom of garden. Only thing is the installed phone dial is thin blue numbers against off-white background. No good for dim lights. My old phone had thick white numbers against black background. Searched for apps to improve this but now have resigned to this stupid design feature.

  • Excellent phone!! Happy to have it!! Front mounted fingerprint reader works wonder Good design - it dont have 2.5d screen but it has a little metal frame around the screen.. which i like. it protects the screen. Volume buttons are nice to use. First boot - surprised to see no useless apps preinstalled so more free memory. Blutooth - works better than my old phone Everything else also good Batterry power could have been better .. but it is removable which makes it good too.

  • no, bought it from a cellphone shop.

  • Hello Friend, did you buy from Amazon Prime exclusive?

  • it's been a couple of days i've been using this phone. first its free of bloatware you'll almost 95% of getting pure android experience. the design is beautiful, great performance no hicups or hangs or whatsoever. i'm an average user. mostly i use phone for receiving whatsapp messages. the only drawback is the battery backup which is a bit poor. the phone as moto promised lasts a single day, that's not a big deal as i have a power bank along with me. overall i love this phone and highly recommend it

  • which camera is best moto g5 or huawei p9 lite?

  • Need a help from you friends who bought Moto G5 from Amazon India with prime membership. 1. Do we sign in using only Google account or is Amazon account needed to sign in and use the device. 2. How much apps are preinstalled as part of prime exclusive 3. Can we uninstall the amazon apps Please reply

  • moto g5 mobile is almost good but battery drains very fast.phone gets heated up easily..

  • over all good phone...but battery backup is bit poor

  • Moto g5 or LG k10,2017.

  • you looking for best camera performance then buy honor 6x other wise moto G5 is batter then honor 6x. only camera performance is nice in honor 6x.

  • It was with some trepidation I ordered the Moto G5. Various official reviews gave it a thumbs up for the market level point it competes in. However, reading some of the comments on this review board I was concerned about the playback speaker quality. Yes, it is the same speaker / earpiece as for phone calls. I guess it depends what device you are coming from. I'm not needing a premium phone. The Moto G5 speaker beats my previous phone no problem, clearer and loud enough for me. I listen to the Radio on it - mostly talk shows. If I want mobile music, I have a Voombox to Bluetooth to for that ;) Camera is fine for me, Better than the previous phones I've had too. Fingerprint sensor is great, very fast to unlock. Battery life seems fine so far. It charges pretty quickly too on the supplied charger. Opening apps and switching between them takes place fast enough and I have not had any lags, slowness or app crashes yet. Lack of compass - can't say I'm bothered so far. Maps sat nav works fine. For the money, I reckon it's a good phone.

  • Which one is better in terms of performance moto g 5 or redmi note 4 (3/4 gb RAM)

  • Both of them are good. Let your budget decide on the phone

  • honor 6x vs moto g5 which is better

  • The Snapdragon 430 is not bad his speed is 1.4ghz.the Snapdragon 615 speed is 1.5ghz that means he is faster but it has got an old adreno 405 GPU.the Snapdragon 430 has got a better GPU:adreno 505 that means the gaming performance will be better because it gives more fps while gaming.

  • How is the battary condition

  • How is battary stand by

  • moto G4 is best than moto G5.. really?

  • phone sound of the alarm still comes out in the speaker even if its plugin.

  • I am still waiting for some updates. There should be an option to turn off the vibration in the fingerprint sensor and regarding the alarm even with a headset plugin the phone still sound comes out in the speaker.

  • and no compass

  • Moto g5 better is Honnor 6x

  • Tell me about the the update. Was it good or bad

  • Yes, it charges from 1% to 15% in les than 5 minutes. Full charge in less than an hour.

  • Does this phone support turbo charging?

  • iz there any additional speaker for playing songs???

  • yeah i've got the same one and it's got no compass... pretty solid for now, handles all the tasks i want easily. the video camera isn't so bad, if you're on a budget and looking for a decent camera to go with this phone is definitely a good choice!

  • The specs above are wrong (as at 2 June 2017) as this phone does not have a compass.

  • I have been using this phone for two weeks. I can confirm that it is ok, very good for the price. I have the 2gb/16gb version (europe so no compass:( on the outside phone looks really great, although its not "metal design" as advertised. only part of the back plate is aluminum. buy a protective case as the edges are plastic. I owned a moto g and i can say g5 doesnt look as tough as the original moto g (but with g5 being thinner and larger i dont think anyone can really expect it to be). screen is bright and visibility in sun conditions is OK. system runs smoothly with no lag, it feels reeally good. camera is good. sound quality is also good, nothing spectacular. it doesnt have a back speaker though, front speaker plays all the sounds. battery life is good, i am not a very demanding user (occasional browsing, phone calls, viber, sms, skype and very rarely a game) and the battery lasts almost 2 days on a full charge. From practically 0 - 100% takes about an hour with the provided charger, which is very good. I have not experienced the heating issues, for i fid it normal for the phone to get warm when charging or under longer heavy use. For now i am very satisfied.

  • Why you sale on olx,,why not return to Amazon

  • restart fesility not available

  • Don't buy this phone. i am using since it launch. i have both model G5+ & G5. G5 is the worst phone. No quick Charge option, lagging, being hot while charging.

  • In brazilian model 2 gb de ram e 32 gb storege only

  • Plz don't buy this phone bec. Motorola company uses "very cheap and old series" motherboard in this model. In Moto G4 Motorola use "Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617" in 190 Euro. In Moto G5 Motorola use "Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430" in 200 Euro. I cant Suggest to anybody to buy this phone. Thanks

  • Plz don't buy this phone bec. the motherboard is very cheap with old serious. i can't suggest to any to buy this phone. thanks

  • Thanks a lot for us view

  • You may also like LG K 10 2017

  • Check out the settings especially the camera. It isn't that bad you seem to have a faulty set otherwise.

  • Moto G 5 , I purchase this phone before this week and I feel worst about the camera of this phone , very bad, color is white in all pics no color differentiation , It is just like any vga camera , even g3 is much much better than this phone . • R u muzammil working with BNP?

  • compass is weak

  • Whether we will get 2 years of update for this phone...or they won't give update what they stopped to moto e3.....waiting for reply...

  • no compass in this phone

  • I need a better Call Quality & Batery back up. Will moto G5 give that when compared with other phones in this price range ? Also if not G5 which will be a better choice for me ...

  • Bought this phone 1 week back it's okay with the performance but it's heating issue is a great problem. And battery lasting only 4 hrs while using 4g.

  • I'm currently using a Moto G5 2gb ram. So far it's been a good phone, obviously for a budget phone is worth buying. If you're looking for something with high specs do not buy it. But if you're looking for a phone that performs good enough paying not that much money, then go for it. The only thing i haven't liked to much is the screen with too thick frames in my opinion. But good phone.

  • Not worth the upgrade, especially if you're rocking a G4 like I do. Otherwise, it's an okay choice; not brilliant, but okay.

  • Phone heats up instantaneously ,sound quality is horrible Picture quality is not good

  • Does this phone has a notificación LED ir a LED light on the frontera? Anda ir ir does can Imagine chance the colores OF the LED light? Thank foro YouTube time. ;D

  • Is there anybody facing heating issue of g5's body?

  • Can someone tell the screen on time with wifi on, 4g n full brightness

  • There are af few that say it's bad and a few that say it's good... So is it bad or good? Give me reasons why it is bad or good.

  • Why the SAR indicator is not specified on the online presentation as well as in the customer book inside the selling package ?

  • Then how to get non euro version?

  • Thankyou. I have ordered a moto g 5

  • you question gave your answer

  • Euro-Version has NO COMPASS -> useless for on-foot-navigation. Do not buy.

  • Pictures captured with Rear Camera are blurred and shaky. Not satisfied with Camera clarity. Please let me know, do I need to upgrade OS version or any alternate solution

  • Which phone is better to buy? Moto g5 3gb or redmi note 4 4gb? Heard there are many defects in redmi note 4. Even moto g 5's camera is better.Pls suggest.

  • Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 why oh why???

  • Why ?

  • I wish i had bought G4 instead.

  • any update for this phone? i dont like the vibration of the fingerprint sensor.

  • Moto m is a good phone but if you compare $180 to $330, and if budget is your thing, this phone is the one

  • what about Motorola moto m ?

  • Honor 6x

  • This is a budget phone, not a flagship...Easily the BEST phone to date.

  • No! Go to the Lenovo forum for the G4 and see how bad the phone is in the real world. Motorola phones are horrible!

  • I have a G4 and it's awful. Overheating issues locks it up constantly and makes it unusable. I will never by a Motorola again!

  • it really depends. If you can only afford Moto G5, why not? Moto G5 is released later than the Huawei 6X, so, updates are more likely to last on the Moto. and I prefer removable battery

  • Which is better Moto g5 or honor 6x?? Reply asap.......

  • I brought my g5 2 weeks back from dubai. The shop keeper told me mobile case&screen protector will be available in 1 week time as its a newly launched one.But since 2 weeks i couldnt find moto g5 accessories all over dubai. This phone feels slippery in the hand without a case.Still Keeps in the original pack, now regrets about buying this phone.

  • Hi, I got my moto g5 two days back. From yesterday mobile is switching off automatically, any one is facing the same kind of issue? I am thinking to return this product to get the replacement mobile. Please anyone suggest

  • I got the 16gb internal / 2gb ram version. Mine has 2 dedicated sim slots + 1 microsd slot.

  • even i wanna know this ....that do we we have 3 different slots or not.... 2 for sim and one for SD card

  • Wtf, it is ARM!!!

  • Snapdragon 430 is new and Snapdragon 617 is old. but Snapdragon 617 is faster then 430 Snapdragon 430 is for low end phones Snapdragon 671 is for mid range phones.

  • Stop talking if u don't know anything. Snapdragon 430 older than 617? . Looks like u r older than ur dad

  • Snapdragon 430 is older than 617? Man, excluding the clock speed and modem, 430 is far better than 617. . Adreno 500 series gpu Better thermal management Better battery life

  • can sombody clear... sd430 is 64bit chipset... but some fellas are misleading that g5 comes with 32bit OS. is g5 32bit or 64bit ??

  • That was my thought as well when I compared the G4 and G5.

  • Save your money and buy the G4 instead because the G5 has an older SoC than the G4. The G4 has the Snapdragon 617, the G5 has the Snapdragon 430. Why Motorola would put an older sock in the phone than its predecessor is beyond me.

  • No. This one has an older SoC than the G4 does. The G4 has the Snapdragon 617, the G5 has the Snapdragon 430.

  • i need to know if there are 3 slots or if i have to choose between one sim OR micro sd card...thanks

  • Should I buy this phone or not??

  • Rear Camera pics are blurred. Not clear. Not happy with the resolution and clarity. Did anyone notice the same

  • Using an SD card - Moto G Plus (4th Gen.) When you insert an SD card for the first time, you can choose to either use the card as Portable Storage or Internal Storage. Internal Storage Select this mode if you want to completely extend your device storage with the card, and need the card to store large applications, games, and their data. You have a high-speed card (UHS-1). If you want to store large games on the card, if your device storage is always filling up, and you plan to always keep this card in the device, we recommend keeping your card as internal. The SD card can become your device primary storage Downloaded applications, their data and media can be moved to the card. The card is not readable by other devices. (another phone, Mac, PC, digital camera) The card is always encrypted, and can not be decrypted on any other device. The card will be formatted when Portable storage is selected. Is the option ' high-speed card (UHS-1)'of the Moto G Plus (4th Gen.) also available the Moto G 5?

  • It does. On the top the sd card goes, on the bottom - the sim. Just because they are put together does not mean you are limited in connecting sims or sd cards.

  • guysssss m thinking to buy this phone. can any one give their best suggestion to me....

  • So you accept my point this Moto G5 is worst ever than lenovo phones

  • No it has a dedicated memory slot.

  • memory is showing as 10.2 GB instead of 16 GB. . Only one answer for that.. U r a first time Android user

  • All lenovos come with louder speakers and excellent sound quality. Lenovo with stock Android! Lol.. Lenovo's 100$ phones like A6000 & k5 are far better tham this g5 crap.

  • Advantages are Nice Display, Price is OK, Finger print etc Disadvantages are 1. Sound is very low. 2. Camera is average. 3. Width size not handy.

  • Moto G5, and G5 Plus, do NOT have any compass/magnetic sensor!

  • Moto G5 have far lower sound than any of my many other phones! My G4 Plus is about three times louder than my G5! Even at highest sound settings/level it is hard to hear when I get sms...! Sound level in phonecalls are good enough, but that is because it is right next to my ear! The sound is high enough wen using headphones, but not the best sound quality! (My Galaxy S3 with Boeffla sound, "Voodoo Sound", have the best sound quality of the phones I own Far better than my G5!)

  • The sound is too low on my Moto G5 too, so that problem is for all G5!

  • Yes it does.

  • Is it a hybrid SIM 2 option phone

  • Is this support US Carriers Network like T-Mobile, ATT ?

  • Dont waste your money in this phone. Better go for Asus zen phone max 3 with the same price.

  • After using this phone for one week.. I can say this G5 is not give me the feel of using moto phone. Its more or less same like Lenovo with stock android. Battery have average life. Speakers are very average and ear piece is not pleasant to talk. Camera is not seem as 13MP. Display is crystal clear, touch is good. Its not the moto when it launched moto g. Average phone.

  • Hi, I've received mobile today, every thing seems to be perfect. Stylish Compact Performance Camera clarity Finger Sensor Battery charging speed. Worth for money :) I found two drawback one is Heating issue and other one is internal memory is showing as 10.2 GB instead of 16 GB. Some one can tell me why it is like that?

  • Is it a 4G phone & will it support JIO

  • Pls tell me i can get this phone or not??????of not so pls suggest me a best phone within same price::::: pls

  • My first smart phone is SONY Now I am using Moto g5 it feels premium device in good price Great going Moto

  • SD card up to 256gb is listed here. However Amazon and Motorola site lists up to the only. Can this please be clarified or corrected?

  • Agreed but note4 and note k5 has a hybrid sim slot which is big cons

  • It has a 2800mah battery not great but average

  • Moto UI don't need 4000 or 5000 mah. Moto G4 play with 2800 mah provides 7hr SOT

  • Sure I'll do that. What do you want to know exactly? Or just a general review of the phone?

  • Mine doesn't. I bought it at Falabella, Shopping Center in my country, Colombia (South America). Model is XT1671.

  • You can't expect good speakers on a tiny device like a smartphone. Either use headphones or get a proper soundsystem if you need the full subbass experience.

  • Guyz,tell me about the battery backup....cause i think 2800mah is less!!

  • Does Motorola G5 has 4g Video calling support directly from the dial pad.

  • Does it supports pendrive, keyboard via USB otg cable?

  • I bought the g5 as a spare phone.. Over all the phone is very snappy, sharp display and nice interface and that fingerprint sensor with all those sensors, is just addictive.. Then u feel like your other main phone is so incomplete without those gestures.. But but but, there is one majorrrrr problem in this phone.. I don't know if its just my piece, I have asked for a replacement.. Its the speaker... Its soooo f*ckd up, that the sound is hardly audible.. Like u literally can't hear anything.. Then when you rotate your video, there is a khrrrrrrrr sound everytime u rotate and for those 2 secs of khrrrrr the sound in the audio suddenly becomes louder, and that makes me believe my speaker is not functioning properly, the sound can become louder, coz for those 2-3 secs it does in the same video.. The speaker quality really is horrible.. Like that's the main thing about a phone.. You watch multimedia and stream videos or play games, the main thing u need is the audio, speakers.. And that just ruins the entire experience.. Battery is fine.. It lasts okay through the day with medium use.. But it does drain about 8-9% through the night on standby.. The main issue with this phone is the audio.. Camera is fine.. Good pictures.. But for 12k I don't know if this audio sound is even justifiable...!

  • Agreed. It would have been best to have the 625 coupled with 2/3GB for the Moto G5 version. 14nm for battery efficiency!

  • is it heat up or not as samsung on8

  • Battery backup is average.

  • Thanks. Can you also update here once you receive your phone please

  • Does it support 5G

  • I called and even emailed both Motorola and Amazon about the same issue. They said the apps can be uninstalled and the warranty of the product will not be affected by it. The same applies to the Amazon app widget. Placed an order for the phone only after confirming this with them.

  • Does it support turbo charging??

  • Im looking to buy it from phone shops i can not seem to find it , only online this model anyone got a clue where i can find it ?

  • Hmmm

  • How about the battery backup? It has 2800mah battery only.

  • what about battery life of moto g5.. please let me know

  • Does anybody know whether this Moto G5 is full HD & does it support USB

  • Read somewhere that the Indian Moto G5 is Amazon Prime phone, which means it comes bundled with Amazon apps and ads. Can someone confirm it. And if so, is it possible to remove the apps and ads?

  • moto g5 support otg cabel plz tel me

  • With what weapons Moto G5 is going to compete with Mi Note 4?? lol

  • Just released in India Amazon exclusive and costs around Rs 12k. Real competition to Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo Note K5

  • Thank God not thethe boring hybrid slot.

  • If it had Corning Gorilla Glass, buying this phone was a deal. However, not buying it as this is missing.

  • What an ugly looking phone it is, we need a phone like moto x style

  • I got the G5 last week. It has 2 sim slots and one memory slot which is on top of the first sim slot.

  • Does this have compass senser ???

  • Around 10 GB

  • Can we use dual SIM?

  • why and the ever living hell would you put a weaker, outdated processor in a newer gen phone. this is total cancer...

  • What about the speaker position in this mobile

  • Yeah exactly, manufacturing part is done by chinese or any manufecturing facility but design part is done in scandinavia.

  • Guys! in India moto g5 is available at 11999 ₹ from today at Amazon

  • Does this have wifi calling ?

  • I want to ask how much internal storage it has available 12 GB or 10 GB. (user memory)?

  • I would too, but it's too large and missing other things I need. But maybe they will show others the way to make them with removable.

  • Finally removable battery!!! Definitely gonna get this one.

  • hello moto

  • HMD Global - company responsible for Nokia smartphone is Finnish and mostly consists of previous Nokia/Microsoft employees. The Chinese part is that it produced in China - like most of smartphones are.

  • I still prefer my black Moto G 4G 1st gen over ANY other phone on the market. Hopefully a future Moto G6 Classic will be more pocket friendly (max 140mm height with max 5" FHD screen) and bring back all the features removed by Lenovo: compass, gorilla glass, durable non-slip backside, black version and great ergonomics. Keep the good things like vanilla Android, water protected electronics, SD-card, 3.5-jack and fm-radio.

  • iPhone SE or Moto G5?

  • Scandinavian design? It's a Chinese company that is producing Nokia phones now, but they're actually very durable in comparison to other smartphones.

  • Its better to wait for nokia 5, 6. The very human design, scandinavian design... people simply love it. The specialty is the feel when it comes to your hands...awesome

  • But that one is even bigger and hasn't got a removable battery.

  • Moto G5 comes in 2 versions: 2GB Ram with 1 SIM 3GB Ram with 2 SIMs both have memory slot separate

  • It is out in Europe. can anyone confirm it has Hybrid slot or dedicated slot for micro Sd card + two Nano Sim slots. Finnish retailer Verkkokauppa has confirmed that Moto G5 the Sd card takes Sim slot 2. However, they often have had false information regarding Moto/Lenovo phones, so I`d like confirmation from someone who owns this phone.

  • moto g4 was really ugly, But this one looks pleasing, what can u expect from 200$ phone?

  • I have motorola G2 with SOC 400 and 1 Gb Ram and I never had any problem with its performance, and if you see GSM ARENA Mobile chip Guide 430 is better in performance than SOC 801 of galaxy s5, Lg g3 and oneplus One,

  • wait......

  • You have Moto G5 Plus with SD625

  • I would get this mobile, if it was a bit smaller and had a 625 instead of the questionable 430.

  • Wait for Nokia 5 or 6 or buy this hmmmmmm, Im in the Netherlands too and I currently using the G4.

  • its already March 22 but this is not yet available in uae. India is just near UAE and it is already released in that country still no signs of the moto g5.

  • For anyone who is still thinking on whether they want to get a G5 or not, here's my thoughts so far. It's a great phone for the price (obviously), it feels great in your hand and the partially metallic cover is a nice change. The fingerprint sensor is good in my opinion, something I would suggest everyone to try is using it for navigation (you can set this in the moto app). It takes a day or so getting used to but it's quick and easy, and you won't have the navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen anymore! The specifications are fine, and even if some of them are SLIGHTLY worse than other phones in the same price range, it won't make a big difference if you're a casual user (apps and games such as even Hearthstone run decently). You have to watch out for regional differences - I bought mine in the Netherlands and it comes with 3GB RAM rather than 2GB. It's been almost a week and I have no complaints about this device so far. Also, I don't get why people are saying it's ugly. Everyone I've asked said they think it looks nice (even before I told them I'd be getting the phone). cheers

  • hi, version with LTE bands 4 and 28 ?? model XTT1671 can be?

  • mr george from Moto thanks u Sir

  • Lenovo P2 and Honor 6X is a better buy for the money

  • G5 is using same battery from last year's G4 play.

  • Nokia 5 is better than G5. G5+ is better than Nokia 6.

  • Moto G5 should have had the same processor and Gorilla glass and ..., just as G4 had the same as G4 Plus, with a better camera for the Plus version as the only difference! Moto probably made G5 worse than G4, apart from the added fingerprint sensor, so that they next year can say nobody wants removable battery because nobody bought G5! I doubt that it will be possible to find any replacement battery for G5 to buy in Sweden!

  • No gorilla glass for g5, only g5 plus has

  • you have good points but some users still loves the removable battery especially in the long run that you already need to change the battery of the phone.

  • In Sweden I can buy Moto G5, but it is impossible to find any Nokia 6 to buy in Sweden, so Moto G5 "win" by default!

  • Nokia 5 vs moto g5 1.design: nokia 5 wins the battle due to its aluminum 6000 unibody design, far better than cheap metal of moto g5. Nokia 5 looks very attractive. 2.Display: nokia 5 here wins here as well with 5.2 inch ips lcd panel with hd 720p resolution. moto g5 sports 5 inch fhd 1080 p screen though but nokia 5 has advantage with 500nits/cdperm2 brighness and popular polariser technology which provides u better sunlight readability than any other device in the market....... tft vs ips lcd, ips lcd wins here of nokia 5. Nokia 5 uses 2.5d curved glass which is laminated but moto g5 not. 3. Processor: both devices use same processor sd430 but nokia provides better Optimisation. 4. Memory and storage: both devices come with 2gb ram and 16gb storage. Again thanks to nokia 5's better optimisation more free ram and storage will be available. Nokia said in mwc that no preloaded apps will be there because consumers hate it. 5. Camera: nokia 5 wins here as well, it has 13mp rear and 8mp front shooter no matter what the aperture is, the quality of photos will be awesome. Whereas moto g lacks with only 5mp front shooter and 13mp rear. And a lot of reasons are there as well to buy a nokia 5 intead of moto g5. If i write here than it will cost a whole day to me. The choice is yours.

  • The totally free VPN "Block This!" is almost as good as AdGuard, blocking ads both in all apps/games and when browsing the Internet using any browser! Have anyone in Europe found/bought any TPU case for Moto G5?

  • any idea when is the release of this phone in Dubai?

  • It's not available on flipkart Only g5plus is available

  • its on flipkart

  • any release date in india ?

  • Browsing the Internet using Dolphin, and AdGuard, is faster on my G5 than on my G4 Plus! :)

  • G5 can play Asphalt 8 on highest settings, but it drop some frames...! G5 is definetily not as Good for gaming as my G4 Plus was!

  • Moto G5, and G5 Plus, do NOT have a compass!

  • I am in Sweden and I bought mine today, writing this on my new Moto G5! :)

  • Battery is less: 2800 mah.

  • any date for release ?

  • Snapdragon 430 is good for 720p LCD.

  • Is that fingerprint used as a button or only for unlocking

  • everything is good provided it releases on 15 march along with g5 plus will surely prefer this one over g5 plus

  • 4.5" and I would have bought it.

  • FHD on a 5 inch screen, awesome. Removeable battery, awesome. Metal build, awesome. Slower CPU, don't care.

  • I think i would prefer the g5 plus over the g5 but theres something to look forward to the g5 than the g5 plus and that is the removable battery.

  • to the best of my knowledge it has moto voice and other moto features moto m had none (they said mediatek processor did not supported such features)

  • Thank you for correcting me Lfy Now I know which one's which.

  • moto g5 plus is releasing in india on 15 march not moto g5 is that correct anyone ???

  • there are two versions moto g5 plus and moto g5 moto g5 plus has 3000mah battery not moto g5

  • Am I missing something here? According to another sourse the Moto G5 has a 3, 000 mAh battery not the one specified here by GSMarena. Who's right?

  • 15 Mar on Flipkart!!

  • april.. but when in april 30 april or before

  • Does anyone know if it has notification LED ?

  • Moto G5 is offline exclusive. April launch.

  • 15th March

  • when will it come in india ?

  • Hey is this phone going to support Moto Voice? The G5 Plus ie.

  • the latest news says there will be no moto g5 (with 5 inch screen) in india only moto g5 plus will launch is it true ?

  • No hfc G5?

  • im going to buy this phone and the main reason is the removable battery. It would have been better if only they have put a higher version for the sd430 for a higher price but I have nothing to do aboutit.

  • will moto g5 also launch with moto g5 plus on 15 march

  • Why don't u just search ANALATICS XIAOMI keyword & go to Hacker news & read it yourself . Would save time for both of us .

  • Well battery requires a casing to be removable. Also unlike redmi 3s it will probably work on almost all us carriers also not to mention better display and camera. Both devices are different in price range and suitable for different crowd

  • Did they sold my data to you ??? Just asking

  • I don't understand why there isn't an all black version and other colour variants. If you look at their adverts for the G5 and plus version they have so much colour used in them. The best devices of the g series is gone thanks to Lenovo.

  • what happened to water-resistance on moto phones ?

  • does it have any led notification and moto features

  • will this also be available in india from march along with moto g5 plus ?

  • Hmm so now I can take the back off and spray it black with a can. Cuss I don't like this grey/black, gold/black thing. No thank you Chinaman.

  • Yes they can sell it at half of this rate if they can get money by selling our datas . Xiaomi sells data. Wonder what its ANALYTICS app is for ..... its analysed by a group & was found as a threat ( a backdoor)

  • there is no good reason to get g5 maybe g5plus

  • I've been trying out a budget phone lately - the Xiaomi Redmi 3S - really like it. I see that the Moto G5 has the same display size and processor but is quite bulky by comparison. The Redmi 3S is 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5 mm while the G5 is 144.3 x 73 x 9.5 mm, way too tall/long and thick. Also the width of the G5 at 73 mm is actually wider than the 5.5 inch Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (72.6 mm), believe it or not. Motorola is famous for wide bezels on the sides, top and bottom making their phones, in my opinion, quite ugly. The Redmi 3S and Moto G5 weigh about the same but the 3S has a 4100 mAh battery while the G5's is only 2800. As usual, I fail to see why Motorola is so popular. The Redmi 3S works on LTE on 4 Canadian carriers and costs only about $137 US dollars, a no-brainer purchase compared to the G5 for Canadians and others not in the US at least.

  • Has it dual sim and sd card slots (3 different slots)?

  • 65% screen to body ratio? It feels like 2013-2014 all over again

  • would dual sim support 4g in both slots ?

  • if the g4 lacked anything it was speed, I mean it was fast but if it was a tad faster it would be great, now g5 has a lower speed processor !!!! What is Lenovo (who I don't like from using their computers) doing to Moto? Nuts

  • That is actually very true, Redmi 3S is 5 mm smaller (which is a good thing) and the battery is 4100 mAh.

  • The j3 2017 meant to have snapdragon 430 from what it had befor that's a decent upgrade But G4 snapdragon 617 to 430 🤔💩

  • Moto G3 was excellent than moto G4/G4plus good and moto G5/G5 plus average only it will give u nice experience but design is absolutely very bad i didn't expect that moto G5 will be like this 🤔 for me moto G5 👎👎👎

  • Redmi 3s is better and cheaper !

  • Huge bezels like that and all the controls are on the screen instead of bezels too??? why?

  • waiting for moto g5. But it comes with single led flash .,.? Not happy

  • Battery capacity less then 3500 mah ,,, is not acceptable.

  • everything looks good if the written specifications will be there

  • Removable back?

  • Hahahahhaha

  • i hope this will be available immediately in uae because last time the only moto that i saw in uae is g4 plus and moto z

  • the reason for this is battery being used in 3G areas without proper connectivity. You should shut down your phone whenever this happens, and then restart it.

  • Even g3 had 67% haha

  • 65% body to screen ratio???? Lenovo its time to recruit some good designers to moto section.....

  • Because 430 may have lower clock speed but is based on 14 micron architecture (instead of 28)which saves around 35% power & avoids heating . Thats why 430 is preferred . Same with SD 625 .

  • smaller screen. worse processor. so, this is the new G4 play, I hope they sell it at the same price.

  • are you Jack Reacher?

  • Does this phone still using virtual capacitive button like previous moto series If not then I think it's not worth to wait

  • This thing looks particularly ugly. no upgrade to storage and ram over previous model. pathetic showing here.

  • G4 come with SD 617, why G5 downgrade to SD430. Just use SD 625 with 4,7" & kill moto Eseries, leave it to lenovo A or C

  • Moto G6 4.7" screen? 4.7" perfect size. Big screen novelty is over.

  • Can we get some nice colors please, this ugly grey with black front is used by a hundred different models from China already. At least an all black device would be ok.

  • I'm 6.5 feet and I still want a smaller screen. I often need the phone at work, therefore it has to fit a regular pocket. 5.5 inches hardly fit my pocket, 5 is perfect. I had the Huawei Mate S (great phone) and the phone started bending in my pocket when doing a squat - Huawei gave me my money back and I picked a smaller phone. :)

  • removable battery?

  • I buy Motorola phones , because it has dimples so...

  • Motorola's' engineering is still mustering it away in 2002's technology and level of competition. OK I take that back, 2008 not 2002, but never the less...

  • I pity your soul

  • Hha

  • moto never grown up? now every mobiles have Finger scanner, front flash, good battery backp. still moto have same spec and features. Mi not 3 & 3s prime have superb but moto G4 & G4 plus damn shit

  • I think......i really think this is the spec of moto g5 play

  • i see in comments people want it in small screen size like 4.7 or 5 inch!???? what that...... ok i think anyone want smaller screen size, that persons height is maybe 4.7 or 5 foot. haha anyway i want this phones size 6.9 inch becoz im 6.2 taller my hands is biggest that's why make it 6.9 incher maaaaaaan!

  • pls take all the design from moto g 4 plus even the finger print sensor in front no fingerprint sensor at the back please

  • Plez be water resistant Plez be 5 inch Plez be in sd processor Plez be metal bodied Plez be affordable Plez have good camera Plezz bring back our motorola moto

  • I would like a Motorola Moto G5 Less ... with a 4.7" screen

  • Lenovo, remember: No compass, no buy, no compass, no buy.;-)

  • 5 is ideal screen size otherwise get a tab

  • If this is the real deal then yep no one will buy it

  • Really? But this IS the Moto G4! I can't beleive they actually beleived the fake ''leaked image'' in which only a number has been changed!

  • 5.5 Inch why ? There should be one budget oriented compact device with finger print scanner. Like xiaomi redmi 3s prime.
