Motorola Moto G7 Power - User Reviews

  • I'm not a techie by any means of the imagination, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. Does this phone have Wi-Fi calling capability?

  • This phone is increable,I had the moto X play before,it lasted me three years, this phone for the price it is the best purchase I've had made in years, every phone will have something to complain about, just buy it you will thank me later joe

  • Its already october and my phone is still in august 1 security patch..motorola lenovo please take care of your customers..give us atleast once in two month security patch update.

  • Had this phone about 4 months. Like others the call volume is poor with the front facing speaker. The volume buttons stacked with the power button are also a poor design. My biggest problem has been it will suddenly stopp accepting a charge. This problem was corrected by Verizon by brushing port to "remove possible dust or debris" though none could ever be seen. Finally, even this no longer worked and Verizon was at a loss. Moto service technician contacted and we were told this was automatic and indicated the phone needed a "hard reset". This is accomplished by holding the power button down until phone automatically shuts down and powers up on it's own....different from a restart. This info is not available anywhere and the technician could offer no other explanation. This is a piece of junk!!!

  • This phone just made #1 on Tom's Guide in terms of battery life:

  • My last motorola, previously I had moto x style. Great battery - full 5 days with 2h internet review per day, Photos are good but at low light average. Much better results with Gcam here. Phone calls ok and GPS. But hotspot is not working properly. I must reset at settings->advanced->wifi and restart phone again. It helps only to first hotspoting. After reconnecting I must repeat full procedure... It is JOKE. I must change phone as hotspot is important to me. Never Motorola again.

  • Be aware that in the UK version there is still a problem with the Wifi and Bluetooth, of which so far hasn't solved via an update. If Bluetooth is switched on your Wifi connection goes to near nothing, switch Bluetooth off and Wifi returns to normal - also seen that when Bluetooth is connected to a vehicle it drops and reconnects constantly - currently I'm unable to leave Bluetooth switched on due to this problem, I have a outstanding ticket with them, but no resolve yet.

  • Those are non-phone-specific complaints... Yeah, this is a budget phone designed to give you the best battery life while using Android 9.

  • 1. No magnetic sensor 2. Speaker is the same as ear receiver 3. there were (are?) some problems if you select in the advanced settings that USB connection is to be file transfer by default...

  • * Display * Camera * Smoothness of operation

  • Please if anyone can help me with the three main problems of this, I want to buy it or even one or two problem. Thanks

  • How is a SD 632, with 4/3/2 GB RAM and a brighter camera a downgrade from the SD 4xx processor in the G6? I mean it isn't close. The Power has a 5000 mAh battery.

  • My phone randomly restart once in a week..any idea out there

  • Why is this even a phone? Motorola failed miserably at the G7 line, and all 3 phones are downgrades from the G6. This is a downgrade from the G5!

  • My Moto g7 power hotspot feature don't allow me to browse although the client device a laptop in my case indicated that a connection with the phone is established???

  • hahaha

  • The speaker acts as the call phone ear receiver as well, that's tre. It's a bit disconcerting if you're not used to it, but I guess Motorola desperately tried to cut the cost while still giving a quality phone.

  • The volume control can be controlled by the settings. Like on any phone. People confuse media volume with call volume and with alarm volume...

  • The battery life is excellent. Speaker is average maybe slightly below on loudness but because it is front facing it's directed at you. The bonus with that is if your in a really loud place you can put it into speakerphone and still hold it against your ear for extra volume

  • Live in Sweden, latest security patch no problem att all with anything.

  • Is it really that bad? I meaning low volume during calls? Because that would prevent me from buying, which is a pity, because I wanted a Phone with good battery.

  • Yes. Same problem - straight outta the box. Can't hear caller unless have the tiniest spot JAMMED inside my ear. And I do mean twisted and JAMMED into my ear! Turning it on speaker is worst. Can only hear phone calls with Bluetooth. What good is a phone with a gigantic battery if you can't hear PHONE CALLS?

  • Anyone experienced low volume during call ? Although i set the volume to max when i'm talking to the phone (with or without using headset) it is still quite low and i can hardly hear anything if i'm on the street or other noisy areas. This never happened when using my previous phone. This only happens during calls only. For instance, youtube seems to play excellent (with or without headset).

  • To change it is in the settings, just go to the search bar in the settings menu and type in battery percentage and it'll show it right there

  • Motorola is no longer a U.S. company. Sold to Lenovo (Chinese) a while back.

  • Is anyone out there experience the battery usage is not showing?..if someone knows the solution pls let me know or teach me how to resolve my problem

  • Why does the US market get the 32gig 3gig ram version n the rest the world gets the 64/4gig ram....????? When Motorola is a umm I dunno a USA company!!

  • Its great. Lasts me about 3 days. My version does support 2.4GHz and 5Ghz just fine. I have an Eero mesh wifi system and the G7 uses it fine. I get typically 100mps down 12mps up on Spectrum cable internet.

  • Wifi strength depends on the wireless router, not on the phone... The phone acts merely as a receiver.

  • Great phone, especially for its low price. The battery life is amazing, this phone literally gets me trough 3 days of heavy use (4+ hours screen-on-time per day), including listening to Spotify over Bluetooth several hours per day. I've had 16 hours of screen-on-time once, but usually when I'm outside and the screen needs to be bright I often "only" get about 12 hours. With 4 GB RAM (at least in the EU version) the phone feels fast and has no problem multitasking between multiple apps without any lag. Another great thing is the speaker, which is very good for its price range. The worst thing with this phone is without a doubt its camera. Sure, it gets decent photos if there's daylight, but generally this phone wont be shooting any award winning pictures. Lots of people have complained about the Wi-Fi. While I agree that it is worse than other phones, it is still very much usable, at least in my case. The phone only supports 2.4 GHz and I get about 60 Mbps in the speedtest.net app. Other phones (on the same 2.4 GHz router) gets about double that speed, and usually around 500-700 Mbps on 5 GHz. That said, making calls over Wi-Fi and downloading large apps like PUBG isn't really a problem, it just takes a few more minutes to do so.

  • I wish motorola will push update to boost wifi signal because that is the only problem in this device..wifi is weak and corrupted even in short distance from wifi rooter.

  • There might be a dial-in activation to increase ringer time-out... My Consumer Cellular phone is on ATT network & (up to) 30-second ring time is activated by dialing: **61*4013693201**30# -- Occasionally, needs to be refreshed when something on mothership gets re-booted. Be aware that ring timer starts from when carrier accepts incoming call - but before connection is established with your phone; several seconds may have elapsed before you hear 1st ring! Your phone is easier (quicker) for carrier to find, if you do a 'cold' reboot occasionally - or when you travel away from your 'home' tower... Please post your results...

  • Diligent searching and an hour with an ee tech manager and still can't find a way to increase the number of phone rings to more than three. By the time you've got the phone out and decided to answer, it's gone to voicemail. On most phones, this is an easy adjustment.

  • What about display in moti hi power? Is Corning gorilla glass protection, really ? Is it dust resistance ?

  • Moto G7 Power and E5 Plus are both very good cell phones i've used both and they work well 72 hour batteries cameras are ok connectivity needs a software update say hello moto 3x before other person hears you.

  • why not buy yourself something cheap but decent rather than having total craР in the box ?

  • i've been using this phone for a month now. so far so good. i do not see any problem with signal, both wifi and mobile data.. if you prefer camera the this phone is not for you, but pictures are clear enough for me, then again, i prefer usage time rather than clear pictures... phone is excellent with its price range

  • Led notification on front ?

  • Charging a phone is not linear... This phone uses a fast charge, so if the phone is almost 0, even 5 minutes of charging will give you 10% or so... But it doesn't meant that 50 minutes will give you 100%

  • The only slightly negative thing about this phone is that it doesn't have the magnetic sensor, but then again, how often do you use your phone as a compass or try to find lost keys on a beach? The GPS works just fine without it.

  • Signal strength depends on the distance from the telecom's tower, not on the phone.

  • Yes, the signal it's not so good. It almost always showing just 1 or maxim 2 lines no more. But I didn't experience any issues comparing with other phones.

  • It is good and fast... Dont know about wifi thou as i use only data sim

  • Thanks for portion of your review comparing your eyes' perception of screen resolution of 1080 G7 vs. 720 G7 Power. I currently have Moto E5 Plus which has 720 screen and 5000 mAh battery, same as Power. But I was tempted to buy G7 for higher 1080 screen even though it has only 3000 mAh battery. After reading your tests which assess resolutions virtually indistinguishable, I'm going with Power. I had wanted all along to do screen tests of G7 vs. Power, but couldn't without buying both models! So thanks for doing the testing and reporting your results!!

  • Dear G 7 Power Owners, I Heard Signal Strength ist poor? Appreciate your opinions, thanks!

  • If the Moto e5 plus last almost 4 days on a single charge for me I'm sure this will hold it's ground

  • This is a model good for daily use!Got it...

  • Hello I was hesitated to buy this phone but i bought it in KSA for SR 499 in jarir store ( USD133 ) for 4GB / 64GB It is a bit heavy but man the touch response and the screen and over all is fantastic !! Many people talking about HD and FHD but let us keep it real, many of us are not even care as our naked eyes cant tell the different. The screen is good and dont cought up with the hype. The phone is fast , smooth and 4G speed is good. Cant say any thing about wifi as i use unlimited data plan in my sim. I would point to the camera thou, it is below average even with GCam. But hey, it is ok cam overall I am not a photographer. All i want is to capture photos to others to share the moment thats all. In regard to the update, yes they sometimes late and put in your mind that g series only gets one major update apart from security patches. So G7 will get android Q but not R. At the end, for USD 133 , it is fantastic and i wouldnt say no if its reached USD 200. Thank you

  • Why not ear phone given with the Mobile? How much the cost for new?

  • I heard the wifi of this phone is weak

  • Phone have 5000 mAh Battery n SOT u will get 21 hrs with 3 days battery backup which is not possible in any Smart phone right now. The phone take 2hrs to full charge, Just shake ur phone to On Led flash n many new features. Go for it if u like Stock android :)

  • lenovo z6 youth or moto g7 power or redmi note 7?

  • A video online showed someone starting to charge at 5%. 5% 12:06 PM 67% 1:14 PM 99% 2:21 PM This is 5% to 99% in 2 hrs 15 min, so maybe 0% to 100% would be like 2 hrs 30 min.

  • It can take only 90 min

  • How long this one takes to get fully charged (from minimum level to 100%)? Any user plz..

  • Of course G7 Power

  • I like this phone so far, for all the obvious reasons (snappy proper Android, battery life, etc). Two gripes for me - the lack of 5G wifi is not good at all and not something you'd expect or accept from a new phone in 2019, and also I get a lot of drain with the screen off, which kind of undercuts the battery life. Other than that, good. It's a Motorola though so it'll probably break tomorrow.

  • I replied to your comment on the Galaxy A20 page.

  • Samsung A20 or Motorola G7 Power?

  • Redmi note 7 by far

  • If batery life and stock android is must go for the motorola. Moto actions is a nice detail. The redmi note 7 is superior but i don´t like MIUI neither heavy customized interface.

  • Moto G7 Power or Redmi Note 7? Suggestion?

  • I had the same problem. I tried adjusting the APN according to my operator specifications for mobile data but still it doesn't work. So when change to other sim card it works well (so it's not the phone problem). Then i called my operator help line and they asked to upgrade the sim and after few hrs it works fine and my mobile data is connected.

  • what a crazy battery life!!!!! im tired of killing the battery... the display is good but not great because it has only 720p... but its ok of me,

  • Is there any heating issue of this 4n?

  • Crazy battery life. Not quite 3 full days, but 2 days easy. I don't need wireless charging, I don't need NFC, I don't need to look at my phone and have it "type the words I am thinking before I can speak them" - patent applied for 7/27/19. I do need a solid cost effective phone with a good screen and a battery that lasts. 20 full hours of screen on time during full bore usage is nothing for this phone. It reminds me of the days when flip phones would last for ever, and it would surprise you when I was out of battery life. The camera is a let down and the phone is heavy...for a phone. I say its just a tad heavier than the note5. Given the choice I can spend 1500 on a telephone that will depreciate 75% value in 3-4 years or I can spend the same amount and get a more than capable phone for peanuts. If you are a hardcore telephone gamer buy this and get a switch for better experiences over the 1k+ telephone. If you want to game exclusively on a phone or show a shiny logo to your friends I think you will be disappointed with this; get the 1500 dollar offering from singsong or ample.

  • Mine got updated today to the June 2019 security patch.

  • I bought this phone recently, an international version. I love my Moto phones, but this one has a real problem connecting to my data. I have called Motorola, fixed settings as they suggested, went to At&t had them try to fix it, but still i barely get any bars and it often says that i am offline. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I see many complaints on the internet and Motrorola doesn't acknowledge it as a problem. I hate to return it, but i need to be able to connect to data when out of WIFI range.

  • Same here, still on December 2018 security update.

  • I ' m from Surinam( South America) have ? After I took a picture the camera restart after 15 sec not immediately help me with my problem

  • Are the frequency bands the same if you were to buy on amazon?

  • If you're a Freedom Mobile customer in Canada, I strongly advise you to buy an unlocked phone on Amazon, rather than getting one with their plan. It has more internal space and it's slightly cheaper over 2 years.

  • Don't let the price deter you, it's one heck of a bang for the money. I got one (64/4) off Amazon (Canada) a few days ago and I haven't charged it for 3 days, it's still showing 70% charged !! My wife asked "how can something so good be so cheap?" Can't go wrong with Motorola :)

  • The 720 screen is every bit as good as a 1080 screen. My Motorola g7 power came with NFC. The phone is very fast, taking night shots and day shots, the camera is good. The battery is one of the best points of this phone, I can go for 3 days on one charge. I would recommend this phone.

  • XT1955-4 NO NFC NO Compasss HATE HATE HATE

  • Probably going to get the moto g7 power but is it worth buying? Only £159.95 on sale in the UK.

  • Is it even splash resistant?

  • Little old lady traded in her Motorola G7 Power for a Samsung J7 Star she didn't like it's performance she said

  • The performance for everyday tasks is extremely good. The CPU is much better than my previous phone. The problem is the GPU which is used for gaming, and that is a bit slow, but you can still play top games on lowest resolution.

  • 720p on 2.6" of vertical space is practically indistinguishable from 1080p. Resolution on phones is a bit of red herring, since the screen is so small, relative to a computer monitor.

  • Satellite navigation isn't handled by a silly magnet sensor but by the GPS, and the GPS on this phone works just fine.

  • No compass for EU market, so it does not work for sat nav. Returned it ASAP!

  • I Bought The Moto g7 Power After Thinking About Purchasing Some Other Phones. I Like That I Don't Need To Charge It Every Day. Good Battery Life. I Liked The Fingerprint Security Feature. Mine Seems To Work Each Time I Use It. I Took A Picture Of My Room And It Seemed To Have Clear Resolution. Mine Came With 3G Of Ram Though And 32 G Internal Storage Which Is Okay For Me.

  • Just purchased, disappointed with touch screen reaction time, from touching to pedal going down in game, it takes an extra 0.3 second, so I lose control in games.

  • I stand word for word on this, suprisingly good all-around device with unmatched battery performance, suprisingly good screen and UX and UI are superb. It's a bit on a plus size but getting used to it

  • Has anyone got the latest Android update on EU? Minä is still on security patch from December 2018

  • Just got it yesterday. Iced violet color looks nice, unique. My biggest fear was screen size and resolution, but it turned out to be great, very good colors and brightness, very good looking screen. Battery life is, well, insane. Performance and multitasking is also very good, 4gb ram is plenty,so is 64gb of storage. You get dual sim + microsd slot. Android is working very fluently, no slowing or hiccups. Sound is good, you hear people on other side clearly, and sound with 3,5mm jack is good. Moto actions are very useful and smart. Only thing I don't like is that there is no LED notification light, you do get ambient display but I would like if they also put LED light.

  • Honestly, I could not tell the difference between 720P and 1080 P screen. I had the G7 power on Verizon but wanted an unlocked boot loader. So bought the Moto G7 64 GB unlocked from Best Buy and before I traded the G7 Power back in I spent a couple of hours testing and comparing the two phones with light gaming and playing back HD clips from youtube and the differences were negligible and in the US both phones have Gorilla glass which is even more reason not to want the G7 over the power. After I did some video playback comparisons between the Standard US Moto G7 that was on sale for $269.99 from Best Buy and the cheaper yet still capable G7 phone I wanted to keep the G7 power. Despite having one less GB of RAM and only 32GB of storage in the US the G7 power still performed just as quickly as the G7. And while watching videos I could not see any tearing or pixelation. And if you're a gamer YMMV, but I play C&C Rivals and that runs swimmingly on the G7 power. In my opinion, having the better batter that you do not have to charge for 3 days Gives the G7 Power the edge over the other phones in the line-up. it's quite frankly the with the best feature of the entire line up and it makes a huge difference. Not to mention that cases are readily available to purchase for the G7 Power at Bestbuy.

  • Hey, I have a question. How bad is the display resolution? I mean a 720p display on a 6,2" screen seems rather low, but how bad is it in everyday use?

  • Any way to make the screen brighter? It seems a bit dull.

  • I switched to the G7 Power from a Galaxy S7 that I usually had to charge 2x per day. I notice no real difference in performance - if anything the Moto is faster. Also the fingerprint reader actually works, which is refreshing. And the battery life is UNBELIEVABLE. I actually get a little anxious waiting for this phone to charge down below 15% before I put it on the charger - like, should I charge overnight when it's down to 22% and I know I'll probably get a full day out of that? I've had it for a month and I think I've had to charge it a total of 6 or 7 times. And I use it a lot, although mainly for reading Kindle and news, not so much for games.

  • It´s great to use your phone without have to charge it every 5 or 6 hs,this is the best phone if you like to use charger every 2 days(using the phone )

  • I've always used low- to mid-range phones like the G4 Play, Droid Razr M/Luge, Atrix HD, and Cliq XT and this is much better than any of those as far as performance and multi-tasking goes. I would imagine flagship phones leave it in the dust, but I'm very happy with it.

  • I have Android Auto installed. But I usually end up using Google Maps instead.

  • So what is the performance like with this this phone? Is it ok for everyday tasks? multitasking and the like?

  • I am interesting to change my Huawei P10 Lite with Motorola G7 Power becouse I can not install Android Auto app on it. Can anybody confirm that the Moto G7 support the Android Auto app? Has anyone installed the same thing and how does it work? Thank`s!

  • Bought this phone just over a month ago, previously had the Galaxy S7. Took a little while to get used to it as it's a larger phone and the resolution didn't seem to be all that great but got used to it after a few days. The main reason I bought this was for the price and the battery life which are absolutely second to none. The performance is good as well, does everything I need of it. Ideal phone if you travel around a lot.

  • Thank you very much, definetely my next Phone

  • When I first called my Mom from this phone, she noticed it was louder and clearer than my old G4 Play, and her hearing is bad since she's in her 70s. Sounds like a vast improvement if you ask me. No one else has complained about the sound unless I'm listening to bluetooth in the car and they call me and I answer the phone while bluetooth is still on. The hands-free SoundBot kit with built in mic I got that plugs into the aux-in and cigarette lighter sockets is far away from me (about 3 feet) so I imagine that's why they can't hear me well. If I grab it and hold it closer to me the mic picks up my voice better. So that's not really the phone's fault. Still a great phone. No desire to change to a different one yet. Can't imagine there will be any time soon. All the features I want in a phone are going away bit by bit.

  • thanks a lot for your reviews, thinking of getting this one. another question though: how about the volume an both sides when it comes to telephony? i heard the sound/volume is not very good..?! thanks a lot

  • Thanks a lot for your answer, I'll just get a Samsung phone then, maybe an old model with a good battery life (J7 pro). Have a good day!

  • Guess I'll throw in another update while I'm here. The phone is still awesome. Battery life is at 91% after 12½ hours of "normal" use (for me). I have taken a few pics since my last update. Nothing to really write home about, but much better than the 8MP cameras from my previous Motos. Still haven't recorded any video yet, but as I and someone else stated, it does have a rudimentary image stabilization, probably similar to EIS. I noticed it's not even listed in the specs here on GSMArena for some reason. One thing that has changed since I got the phone that is of some concern, and it started a couple of weeks ago, is that sometimes when using Google Play Music to listen to music (I still use Musicolet for podcast listening, and really like the play speed changeable setting) and the screen is locked and dark, when a song ends, it will not proceed to the next song unless I press the one of the side buttons to light the screen up. This doesn't always happen, and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it, but it happens frequently enough to make me think there's some kind of issue somewhere. This does NOT happen when using Musicolet for podcasts. That makes me think it's a Google Play Music issue. I haven't tried any other music player yet. I keep the 'shuffle' function on in Google Play Music, so the next time I listen to some tunes I'll toggle that off and see if it still does it. I also tinkered with the 'display cutout' (notch) settings in 'developer options' another poster mentioned. They are: Device default (notch); Hide (flat across the top, blackening the two areas adjacent to the notch); Corner cutout (top right corner ~¼" of screen is black - original notch also stays put - this doesn't look good in my not-so-humble opinion); Double cutout (notches at top AND bottom of screen - areas adjacent to bottom notch are useless, and this pushes the on-screen buttons up about ¼", reducing usable screen real estate); and Tall cutout (the standard notch with an additional smaller, narrower notch protruding from directly below it, which doesn't look appealing at all). Also, if you change to the 'Hide' setting from any other setting besides 'Default', instead of the top being completely flat, the top corners of the unhidden top part of the screen will be rounded to mirror the bottom rounded corners (they briefly light up when you lock the screen). Otherwise, still a great phone. I still highly recommend it. You'll be hard-pressed to find any phone with a longer-lasting battery built in. And if you still drain this battery in one day, imagine what it'd be like if you had a 3,000 mAh or less battery.

  • Also forgot to mention, you might be able to find an app or launcher (some are free, some you have to pay for) that can be similar to the Samsung 'Easy Mode.' Plain vanilla Android (or very close to it) phones like this one do not have 'Easy Mode' type functionality built in.

  • Not really. There is an 'accessibility menu' that can be activated which adds an additional on-screen button in the lower right corner of the screen that, when touched, brings up a menu with large (and these can even be enlarged), easy-to-see icons for common functions like volume control, screen lock, brightness control, power button, recent apps, quick settings, notifications, and screenshot. But it doesn't even have a 'phone' or 'contacts' icon on it, which I imagine seniors would be looking for the most in this kind of setup. There also doesn't seem to be a way to add more icons, such as 'phone,' to it, so it's quite limited. So from what I can see it's not really like Samsung's 'Easy Mode.' You might be able to approximate something similar and set it up for them by changing font size and changing the home screen grid from 5x5 to 4x5 icons, and adding custom icons on the home screen for things like 'phone' or 'contacts,' among other things. But they could easily mess it up if they hold their finger too long in one place and drag an icon off the screen somewhere, or some similar snafu, as they might not be used to a touchscreen. I also do not see a way to lock home screen icons in place. My mom couldn't even stand using a simple Nokia 1100, let alone a touchscreen smartphone.

  • Please is there an option similar to Samsung's easy mode on this phone, something that will make the phone usage easier for seniors, I'd like to get this phone for my grandmother. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I hope boost mobile adds this to their roster.

  • Coming from a moto e4 plus... -Bigger screen is welcome and the notch doesn't bother me like i thought it would. Just holds the little icons and clock. -Nice and fast for everyday stuff -Battery can last through a heavy day of use which matters most since I always charge at the end of each day. -Has band 71 which t-mobile has already rolled out in my area and I've noticed my phone uses when in rural areas that tmobile never had coverage in before. -Camera has stabilization when recording which is really sweet and its neat to see 4k recording. Picture quality is very nice in good lighting. Not the best in low, but I wouldn't expect it to be much better for the price of the phone and all the other features. A bit sad that europe gets nfc, 1gb more ram, and 32gb more storage, but I'm happy to have the splash proofing and gorilla glass as a trade off since my everyday life can be a bit rough on phones and the cases i buy for them. Very nice phone that I'd recommend to anyone on either a budget or just looking for a great phone with a battery to survive heavy use.

  • Yes..keep tapping build number until you have developer access. Then go back into settings then system then advanced where you will see developer options. Scroll down to cut out and choose from theee..hope this helps ..

  • Yes, it's under developer options.

  • Can anyone who owns this phone confirm that there is a setting available to hide the notch? Thanks

  • Thank for the answer I switch of data saver and that fix the issue, it was from that. Many sites does not work like BBC for example.

  • Hi Jimmy its not the phones fault stop visiting untrusted websites to prevent getting these pop ups, to fix issue just close the browser, go to your phone settings your applications, find the browser you use and once inside, find the storage and clear data. Than back out once and force stop or force close the app, leave your settings and once you open the browser as you normally would the issue would be fixed, your browser would start like brand new but gets rid of your problem. As mentioned its not your phone its the sites you visit which have these pop ups and gets worse if you open or download any content from them. Have a good day!

  • The reason I prefer it on the front is that I usually leave it flat on my desk at work, usually an arm's length away, and have to pick it up to unlock the screen by either touching the fingerprint sensor or looking at the screen. I have to lean directly over the screen rather quickly to unlock it via face unlock or type in a PIN if I want to leave it on the desk. I don't always have to pick the phone up, but it would be nice to be able to unlock the screen while it's on the desk to read a text or email or whatever notification happens to come in but quickly disappears because moto display lights up the screen for all of two seconds. If the fingerprint sensor was on the front I could just touch that wherever the phone is sitting without having to lean over it so that it sees my face or lift it up off the desk. The chin area is still there, and I guess Apple has a monopoly on the way to get rid of that, so they could've put the narrower fingerprint sensor from the G6 or G6 Plus there. I hadn't paid much attention to it, because they're not really advertised and don't get much exposure, at least as far as I've seen, but I've noticed that Sony still puts notification LEDs in nearly every phone they produce. Many of them also have NFC. Problem is, apparently they haven't yet noticed that band 71 is a thing, and it's getting more widespread coverage lately. And having more than one or two phones that work on all major US networks might help, too. They also need to move those fingerprint sensors from the side and back of the phone and put it below or beneath the display, especially since a lot of their phones have broad blank chins, much larger than ones like on the G7 Power. Then I might consider getting an Xperia phone instead.

  • Yes. It is a malware. It attacks other phones too. Somehow it keeps some websites locked, then asks for installing some chrome extension. Beware!!! those recommended extensions are very deadly malwares. If installed those will send 100s of sms from your phone, costing all your balance.

  • I have issues with my Moto G7 power, some websites I cannot open and it spears this message Error accessing site- Request denied The explicit proxy request is forbidden. I change the phone and same happens with new phone again G7 power. What may be the reason and how can I fix it?

  • I was used to fingerprint sensor on the front but it takes a lot of real estate. After using the G7 Power for a while, I now prefer it on the back with a bigger screen in front. Just wish Moto had eliminated the chin.

  • The G7 Power does, but the Mi Max 3 that another poster recommended does not. I'm looking forward to when band 71 is finally available in my area, which probably won't be for another year or so. This is really a great phone indeed. just wish it had NFC and a notification LED, and that the fingerprint sensor was on the front like on most of the previous Moto's from the G5 Plus to the G6.

  • I've been using this phone (US/unlocked) for two weeks and it's 85% as good as Samsung 10+ for 25% percent of the price and has 161% of the battery life. Supports all US carriers. The battery does add a little bulk but I can get 5, yes, 5!! days of light to moderate use on 1 charge. Once you use a big battery phone you can't go back. I don't care for the notch but I can live with it. I think Moto chooses phone specs by throwing darts at a wall but somehow they did pretty well with this one. I like it quite a lot.

  • Does have band 71.

  • Doesn't fit the bill. Has rear fingerprint sensor, doesn't have all the US bands, etc. Looks like the closest Xiaomi phone to what I'd consider the perfect phone is perhaps the Mi Mix 3, but it doesn't have band 71 and costs an arm and a leg. The Galaxy S7 comes closer, but still doesn't have everything I'd want in a phone. The G7 Power is doing quite well, though. Battery still at 87% right now from 100% 14 hours ago.

  • Issues when connected to my vans Bluetooth the van rings but the phone is not showing any signs of ringing! So I can't answer it. When not connected to the van it's not notifying of calls or letting me know I have voicemail

  • Try Mi Max 3

  • XT1955-4 does not have NFC and WiFi in 5ghz range!! Wifi- really?!

  • I have the same problem so i went to the settingsmenu. But appearantly it is already toggled off. So the problem remains..

  • Absolutely. I'd rather it be there and if someone doesn't want to use it there should be a setting to disable it.

  • Notification LED? Really?

  • Update regarding something else I discovered about the G7 Power... ... Shortly after I got the phone I discovered that it had difficulty connecting to the Bluetooth receiver I have in my car whereas my old G4 Play never had that problem. Turns out there's a setting buried deep within the overall 'settings' you have to change. In 'Security and Location,' you have to go to 'Location,' 'Advanced,' and then 'Scanning' and toggle off 'Bluetooth Scanning' because apparently that interferes with the phone being able to re-connect to your most commonly-used Bluetooth devices. There's a similar toggle for 'WiFi Scanning' as well. At first I thought my phone might be defective, but it isn't. It's just this obscure setting that was the culprit. Figured I'd post this in case anyone else ran into this problem. Begin rant: Also, I'm wondering, is there a phone in existence that is unlocked and works on any major US carrier, has a notification LED, a proprietary dock that puts the phone in desktop or driving mode, a front fingerprint sensor (or under the display), NFC, all the rest of the options this phone, including a massive battery, band 71 and a headphone jack, and is similarly priced? I think it'd be easier to find a unicorn at this point. End rant.

  • The g7 play might be better for you if you want a compact phone

  • then you made the right decision

  • good phone, but body size too big, would buy if body size would be not more than 145x65mm, but actually hope more compact like 135x60mm.

  • As long as moto live? My moto 7years still working fine, battery 75% wkwk My sammy flagship to entry not reach 2y need to replace battery (vietnam)

  • Just wonder if the front and rear camera has EIS and how effective it is? Thanks in advance.

  • thanks a lot, brother ! I also believe that this is the best phone for battery life among 5000 mah battery based smartphones ......

  • That doesn't mean Lenovo is a crap company. I've had my Lenovo PC for 4 years now without any issues and still going strong

  • I mostly use Musicolet (podcasts, sped-up audio) and Google Play Music (music). I listen to podcasts about 95% of the time, and that's ususally about 8 to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. I occasionally play word puzzle games - nothing 3d or graphics intensive - but I'm sure this phone is capable of running them. Occasionally I might watch a YouTube video, navigate with Google Maps, read news headlines and articles via Google Now or Feedly. I sometimes still have 94% battery left at the end of the day after listening to audio 8 to 10 hours a day via headphones and streaming via bluetooth 1.5 hours going to and from work. Even the E4 Plus isn't able to achieve this kind of efficiency. I've only used about 13% battery today in the past 15 hours.

  • can you please mention the usage (which apps or task you did during the days) !!

  • Final update: Just had to plug in (2019-03-31) for the first time since Tuesday morning (2019-03-26). That's over 5 1/2 days of what's considered "normal use" for me. And it was still at 15%. But since it entered "battery saver" mode and the charging icon turned red, I figured I'd go ahead and plug it in. It'd probably last until tomorrow morning at the same time of day I unplugged it, so that'd actually be about 6 days. Not too shabby. Still haven't taken pictures or video yet. That's just not a big priority for me, but again, I'm sure they'll be decent enough for a 12MP (not 13MP like I stated in my previous post). No buyer's remorse here. I plan to use this phone for as long as possible. I highly recommend it if you want a phone that doesn't need charging everyday and don't mind not having NFC depending on where in the world you are.

  • Poland - 4/64 without NFC. XT1955-4.

  • To G7 Power owners: can you Tell about Call Quality? I read the Sound is Not so good, muffled even?

  • Update: Still loving this phone. Scratch the low light face unlock issue. Even in a totally dark room, the screen emits enough light so that the phone can see your face and unlock the screen for you. It's been working great. So has the fingerprint sensor, but I use that very little thanks to how reliable face unlock works. The dark theme changes some elements of the UI, such as the app drawer and the phone app, but other elements are still black text with bright white background. Very inconsistent with regards to what the dark theme works in. Audio quality is better than my old G4 Play, both with headphones and bluetooth, and when calling others they say I sound much clearer. In the one spot I drive through almost daily where my calls used to drop when using the G4 Play, my G7 Power did not drop the call, and in fact the audio didn't even cut out a little. So it definitely has greatly improved signal reception. Still haven't taken any pictures, so I can't yet attest to its camera performance. But 13MP with even a rudimentary form of image stabilization is better than 8MP without, right? Battery life is phenomenal. I unplugged the phone yesterday morning (2019-03-26), and it's still at 65% more than a day and a half later, with what is "normal daily usage" for me - about 1 hour of phone calls, maybe 50 texts, roughly 2 hours of web browsing, about 8 hours of listening to audio via headphones, and about 1 1/2 hours of listening to audio via bluetooth in the car. So that's about an average of about 18% of battery used per day so far. No other phone I've ever had comes even close, with about the same amount of usage. So far, I'm guestimating that I'll have to plug it in Friday night (2019-03-29) when I go to bed. And to continue my griping from last time just a little more, and I'm sure there are plenty of folks who'll back me up on this, would it hurt to go back to including a notification light in these phones? If someone doesn't want to use it just include a setting to disable it, but don't remove such an essential feature from the phone. If Samsung's still including one on their Galaxy S phones, I don't see why Moto couldn't have continued including them. I'd probably have even more available battery time left if the screen didn't light up every few seconds from the Moto display option picking up a sound or a movement of some kind causing it to light up. A notification LED would only light up if there was something it actually needed to light up for. Not repeatedly, arbitrarily lighting up every couple of seconds just because I'm walking with the phone in my pocket.

  • In Brazil, Motorola made available the 64GB version from March / 2019

  • Well, I finally got mine. Sorry if I get a little long-winded... It is indeed a great mobile and everything I expected. It's nice to finally have a "universal unlocked phone" where, if I decide to, I can just switch carriers any time I like. This is the first phone I've ever had with a fingerprint sensor, and it works great. The 'face unlock' feature also works great, but has a little difficulty in low light. Oh, and regarding 'face unlock,' and another feature, or lack thereof, on this phone... I still have an old backup phone I use every now and then, the Luge, which is basically a slightly updated 2014 version of the 2012 RAZR M, and they surprisingly had 'face unlock' all the way back in 2012, and it didn't work as good as this. But it DID HAVE NFC! In fact I bought a new RAZR M to harvest the screen off of when I accidentally dropped the Luge and cracked its screen. When I took the RAZR M apart, I noticed that basically all the NFC chip consisted of was a thin, square-shaped sticker with a small wiring connector coming out of it, stuck to the inside of the back of the phone. Nothing fancy. Didn't look like it would impact the cost of the phone, or the manufacturing of it, certainly not by much. So I'm trying to figure out why it's absent, in an otherwise perfectly good $250 phone. The Luge was only $70 brand new at Wal-Mart. In 2014. Five years later, we can't put NFC in a $250 phone in 2019?! ... anyway, back to this phone. I am very pleased with it overall. There are quite a few new or extra settings I wasn't expecting, upgrading from my previous phone, a G4 Play, which I got after the Luge screen incident. 'Digital wellbeing' is one of them, and it provides a way of making yourself "unplug" from your phone and "winding down," with settings like making the screen color change to black-and-white at a certain time, and then return to color at a scheduled time. It's also an app in the Play Store, and is only compatible with newer phones. This phone also has Google's AR Core, so I imagine there will be some useful utilities, if there aren't already, for Project Tango-type stuff. The weater/clock/calendar widget on the home screen is much more detailed, and the best one I've seen and used since the circles widget from the Luge. There's only one wallpaper image that's included with the phone, and it's the green one you see in the image above. Of course I'm sure almost everyone changes that, but I would've expected at least a half-dozen or so pics like the ones from the G4 Play. There's also a wallpapers app that wasn't on the G4 Play either, that can download and display other images as well. There's also the usual complement of Google apps installed, some of which I disable and never use. And under advanced display settings, there's a 'dark theme,' which I have selected, but I don't see too much of it. Navigating through nearly aspect of the software, it's still nearly all black text on a white background. I was expecting everything to look the way 'messages' does when you enable its 'dark mode.' I do miss the days of the Tron-Legacy-like appearance of Jelly Bean's darker, easy-on-the-eyes appearance. It would be nice to have that as an option. I haven't had time to test out the camera or bluetooth or listening to audio yet, as I've only had the phone one day, so I can only guess how that is, but I imagine it'll be at least decent and probably way better than the G4 Play was. I'm glad they've kept the headphone jack, as I prefer using that over bluetooth when listening to audio. To me, bluetooth headphones are just another thing you have to keep charged up, and they have to be frequently recharged due to the small battery. I like at least still having the option to just plug in a pair of headphones in the 3.5mm jack and not have to use some dongle, especially one that has to share headphones and a charging cord. Incidentally, the Luge had very good sound quality via bluetooth and headphones. I actually had to turn down the sound in the car if I switched from the G4 Play to the Luge when listening to audio via bluetooth. I rarely use the camera on whatever phone I use, but it has the best specs out of all the phones I've ever used. Even a Pixel or an iPhone is no match for a real camera, or so I've heard, so I don't expect too much from this budget phone's camera. The USB-C plug is a welcome change, I guess. All my previous phones had micro-USB. It seems to require a little more force when plugging and unplugging than micro-USB did, but I won't be doing that quite as often with this phone, I hope, unless I'm transferring files to and from the computer. I also got a couple of extra cables for the car and for work, just in case I need them. It's also going to take some time to get used to the power button being below the volume button. My older Motos had it above the volume button. On a side note - one thing I REALLY miss, is the proprietary phone dock and ESP cable you could get for Moto phones. I still have those for my Luge (I bought and "modded" the Droid 3 dock by taking out the HDMI cable to fit the Luge), and I like the way it would go into desktop clock mode as soon as it was plugged in. That was one of the best features Moto phones ever had, in my opinion. It made switching from using an actual alarm clock to using the phone as an alarm clock much easier.

  • Bro... smh. how could you. i got an iPhone because of you :(

  • I am truly sorry for the error in my information. I played around with Motorola phones, mostly the G7 Power and the One. After seeing all the coments about No NFC in any of the European version distributed, i wend back an checked, and indeed, G7 Power does not have NFC. The retailer was Altex from Romania, but i don't think that matters any more. Sorry about that once more. I am also interested in this phone, the version with NFC as it is a deal breaker for me. The rest of the phone is perfect for me and my needs.

  • Anyone knows where we can get the NFC version in UK? Thanks.

  • I'd buy it if Motorola supported their phones longer than a year.

  • Excellent phone in all aspects. It uses Qualcomm's newest chipset, the 632. And capable of recording even 4K videos. The screen display is very sharp and doesn't feel like a budget phone. Even the back doesn't feel plasticky, Motorola has used a very hard plastic. The camera sensor is Omnivision, which captures great pictures even at night. And then the insame battery life..Then again, brand conscious might go for expensive phones. The vast majority may prefer usable and practical devices which can last some years.

  • In which countries is the NFC version distributed?

  • In which store did you see the NFC version?

  • Yeah, my comment should be a novel.

  • Cool story bro

  • Best budget phone up to now. Battery last 4 days with normal usage and the speed is more than attractive.

  • Where does GsmArena get their info on LTE band coverage? According to FCC certifications found on XDA dev. There seem to be a few different model numbers for the G7 power. Can Gsm verify the accuracy? Thanks!

  • I have a Motorola Moto E2 with a Snapdragon 410 chipset, perfectly capable in 2019.

  • 100%true

  • why o why must murika get the 3gb inferior model.

  • Yes. The 32GB/3GB Ram is for the USA (not sure if Brazill or other places). Europe gets the 64/4 with NFC. This I saw in store, testing it. (I'm from Europe)

  • I've been using this phone few weeks. The batterylife has been excellent! With minimal usage(few phone calls, internet browsing, watching YouTube, and messaging) battery lasts about four days. TurboPower charging is really fast, took about 1,5 hours from 10%-100%. This is the first Motorola phone i've owned, and Im satisfied about the build quality although its fully plastic.

  • phone is very good

  • Does this mean that there's a 1. 32GB drive, 3GB RAM and no NFC version and a 2. 64GB, 4GB RAM with NFC version?

  • Thank you for proving my point: neither G6 nor G7 will survive a day for you. Unlike previous generations of Moto phones, that were quite sturdy. I hope that by failing their new marketing policy (of selling non-lasting junk) Motorola will learn the lesson and restore their quality.

  • i am using moto g4 plus since its launch it is great phone except battery problem, display camera everything rest is great , super tough display, it fall everynight from my hand on marble floor everyday but no break till date earlier i used moto e 1 great sturdy phone it was, display brake in a road accident even on damaged any body can work although glass chips falling

  • Do you work for Lenovo? :-) "Lenovo owns IBM" so that's exactly why quality IS a doubt. But don't listen to me, I urged many times to read the reviews, that Moto Bots tend to ignore. I would never get Mi or Oppo in the nearest future. Neither Motorola. But back in the days my G3 was quite a decent phone, I was happy with it.

  • Do you work for mi or oppo? Lenovo own IBM so quality is no doubt, My lenovo fine 4years, I drop my motorola from level 2 still working 3years, please read manual how use electronic device

  • What ?? Samsung is still using Snapdragon 425 in J series and selling at the price of moto g6 plus. 🤔

  • Thank you for contacting Motorola/Lenovo Customer Service Support. We have two models of Moto G7 Power, one with NFC support and one without NFC. Models: XT1955-7 - has NFC XT1955-4 - no NFC If you have further questions, please let me know! Have a great day ahead.

  • This phone is all about endurance and battery life. 720p+ (hd+) helps battery much more than 1080p+. Plus its an lcd so less pixels needed to look sharp enough.

  • The review say its weak compared to others in the price range? Sure but it has best battery of all the options they suggested over it! -_-

  • Ha, its not because of Lenovo, the reason is everyone is using the 600 series, moto/Lenovo actually was late to adopt the 600 series which they wouldn't do if competitors weren't using them.

  • Motorola shows what kind of sleazy business people they are by putting g 720 display on this phone, if it had 1080 display nobody would buy any of their other phones.

  • This phone makes Samsung's budget phones look like value phones.

  • First of all, I have had a Motorola phone, the E 2nd Gen, it was pretty good, my only complaint would be the thin glass and subpar camera, performance (SD410) was great. I'd have the 400 series and a lower price instead of a 600 series with a higher price. The 600 series should be for the upper mid-range phones, the 400 for cheaper mid-range phones.

  • Are u sure? First 3 gen moto g phones came with Snapdragon 400 series. After Lenovo, its 600 series. Guys are talking nonsense here those who never own a moto or Lenovo devices. .

  • Because you tell only lies. I don't work for lenovo.

  • Where is the NFC ? Which Market get it?

  • Yes it could be we will see.

  • If you refer to the lower resolution that is clearly a measure to make the battery last even longer... 5000mAh + low res = win

  • Not that wayne34 showed me any signs of a productive discussion, but he might want to explain himself to other people: 1. Why his Lenovo praising comment is worth posting, but my critical opinion should be kept to myself, on a forum page called "OPINIONS"? Bad for his employer profits? 2. Why does he take Lenovo criticism so personally? Bad for his own profits?

  • Well, you have a Point, but Back then I needed a Phone very quickly and the only Motorola available in Stores in my town was the X 4. I am a die hard Motorola-Fan, You have to know. Anyway, I'll wait for Test-Results and Reviews, than I decide if I Stick with the X 4 or get the G 7 Power. Or I wait Till they Release P40 😁

  • Well, you have a Point, but Back then I needed a Phone very quickly and the only Motorola available in Stores in my town was the X 4. I am a die hard Motorola-Fan, You have to know. • Curious tale about diehard X4 and G7 desire... 1. Why would you get X4 if you value battery life mostly!? It had far from the biggest battery out there in 2017-2018... 2. Why in the world you would downgrade from a reasonably fast for 2017 mid range X4 to a slow for 2019 (CPU, GPU, modem) budget G7!? It doesn't make sense. For a real customer, at least...

  • I had a lenovo laptop and I used it for 3 and a half years without problems. I sold it in perfect condition. My wife owns a moto g6 and it has no issues, great phone for it's price. So please keep your opinion to yourself!

  • Yes, Lenovo is good but Google and Motorola made better phones.

  • Seems I was lucky with my X4..dropped it several times, not a single Scratch. Overall decent Phone, but thinking about getting G7 Power. Battery Life is very Important to me. Waiting for a review.

  • My company bought several Lenovo laptops. Every single one got problems: from minor ones to a total disaster... I have X4 myself: it cracked within days - being in a pocket, in a protective case. Read G6 and Z3 reviews: everyone is complaining about this (in addition to bad reception for G6 and bad battery for Z3). And Motorola doesn't repair their phones: they expect you to pay for replacement - just to get the same fragile junk. I would recommend to stay away from Motorola/Lenovo for at least one generation - until the quality issues are gone.

  • But isn't lenovo a good brand ?

  • Well, Lenovo makes their phones instead of Motorola themselves or Google.

  • What happened to motorola?

  • The phone has face unlock and EIS. NFC I do not find .

  • Been waiting on this phone for a while. Not perfect, but close enough for me. Would have liked to keep the fingerprint sensor on the front of the phone, and would have liked to see NFC onboard. There are other uses besides mobile payments - many wireless headphones use NFC as well, along with other devices. Glad they finally put band 71 in, too. That's been a thing for a couple of years now. Also glad they decided not to use glass on the back. The front of the phone is fragile enough. And glad this "lower-end" model has both a gyro and compass. They usually only include one or the other unless it's the plus or standard model. Can't wait to get one of these.

  • But also games will run better on the mid-tier chip.

  • i think this is enough for this is already visible to the naked eye.

  • The screen resolution is a bummer but think about the massive batery life ! Goes for the runner up of batery life champ of 2019! The most interesting phone of the G7 line.

  • Does this phone have an EIS and splash resistant? And NFC ?

  • yeah the screen is a bummer, I guess they wanted to win the battery fight or something. In our online shop says 1480x720 screen. Not cool.

  • Can't believe this phone hosts a 720 screen in 2019!. U loser motorola under Lenovo

  • Well the price and screen is horrible. We will see where we get when the specs becomes official.

  • If no 1080p no buy! Goodbye!

  • They want u to replace phones quickly

  • 5000mah on a low budget phone but the flagship g7/plus carries a whooping 3000mah. My phone z play is a good phone. Z force was whack as the battery drains so fast.

  • 720P? Is it seriously?

  • More of the typical insane strategies. Bigger battery in useless phones (720P? Seriously?) and extremely crappy battery in phones with better specs. In the end, both options are useless.
