Sonim XP3 Enduro - User Reviews

  • Nck blocked please... Sonim XP SP3 enduro

  • Tough on the outside DUMB on the inside is right. The most user unfriendly phone ever built. Look elsewhere. The speakers, the charging ability, the OPTION after OPTION to be able to do a darn thing. This phone is useless. I took mine back and got my old phone re-activated. Look elsewhere you will be much happier to. I couldn't even get my voice mail out of this Sonim Enduro.

  • Had this phone two weeks . Most user unfriendly phone i ever used. Gonna sell it or run over it with my truck smash it with a hammer whatever. It's a piece of junk. Can't hear reciev or sending have to go to options for any dad gum thing, I HATE IE!

  • NCK blocked help

  • This is because the security of the keyboard. After a while, it starts to lock itself. This is for security. People can crawl under a car for repairing things, or much more. So you press (not intentionnaly) the keyboard inside your pocket and start sending a message or something else. Is is for avoiding this. To unlock, press during five seconds the key button with: < * >

  • i have problem my sonimxp3 enduro, my problem i buy to my frien in spanyol, and i stay in indonesa, i use in indonesa my be 1mont and good, but i dot now at the time i start my sonim xp3 enduro in screen NCK blocked ?? what the mining? and can be use pls help my problem

  • I bought my Sonim 6,5 years ago, had it on service 4 times , allways got a free Sonim while fixing it,and it still works great,,im Scrapmetallman and the phone have had a very hard life, and its the only phone that easy can record calls, which is very practicall when talk with authoritys and travell instructions etc. but now hard to get batteries for it,,,,,,,sad,,,

  • I have used my XP3 Enduro for 5 years, no problems at all. Even the battery is still the same and it works well for 6-7 days. My next phone will be the Sonim CAT B25.

  • Hmm - I have a love/hate relationship with this phone. Let me start off by saying that I HATE cell phones. Never wanted one or was slightly interested in them but when the kids came along and my wife insisted I relented. I did a lot of research and finally opted for the Sonim XP3 over 4 years ago. I had seen the Land Rover phones in the UK and thought these were pretty cool. They suited my life style.....or so I liked to think! I was happy to buy into the new company selling roughty toughty phones though all my friends thought I was mad as no-one had heard of Sonim. I bought mine from Best Buy in Maine for around $350 ish and loved it. Super basic - it made calls which is all I wanted it to do. Not interested in the camera or other 'bells and whistles'. Great trick was calling it whilst it sat in my beer at the bar...I was a hero! After 6 months the phone broke. Dont know why. Sonim customer service were AWESOME and didnt care why it had broken either, they just sent me a new one. Cant complain - thanks! Over the next few years I kept up with the software updates but one by one things started to go wrong with. First the chime when the phone is switched on sort of half worked and never recovered, then the side buttons stopped doing anything really. The phone speaker quality was always awful and then it stopped ringing when receiving calls - so everything went straight to my VM. I forgave it all this and ploughed on...my family and friends laughed at me.....I didn't care. Then the calls started dropping mid-call, then the phone wouldn't stop dialing even though it couldn't get through...it would dial in vain for 5, 10, 15 minutes at a time and I COULDNT STOP IT...eventually I had to take the battery out. But still I loved it and my family laughed.... I noticed the website doesn't support it (I have a Mac) and the software is hopelessly out of date with reality and the modern world but I still have it. Then one day....I didn't get a call to say my children's soccer had been canceled because the phone never rang.....straight to VM. My kids sat all alone in an empty field in Maine for over an hour - 6 y/o and 10 y/o. Bye phone. You have been one of THE worst pieces of electronics I have ever owned - you are crap. You dont work and the very few things you do do you do badly...but like that friend you cant shake off and constantly feel sorry for, I gave you a good go. But you really let me down. And to add insult to injury, the man at Best Buy had never heard of Sonim when I went in there to enquire about the new iPhone 5... you will be missed...but not for long. Hello Apple - RIP Sonim.

  • it is working fine so far. i bought the Land Rover version with 3800mA battery and buttons to play MP3/4 . it looks the same basically. there were no manuals so i am working my way through the menu.

  • This is the worst Phones I ever owened in 20 years. It is not Shock proof at all, the cheapest nokia on the market is more reliable. With 3 of these phones I am often still phoneless while two of them are in for the slowest repairs in the country. A farmphone plugged into a landline with a phone opperator connecting your calls garantees better communication!

  • Had this phone around 4 years, I've accidently kicked it with steel-caped boots into a wall to then land in a puddle, just picked it up and it kept going... I've also found it to have generally good reception and my provider is not well known for such ;shrugs "Works for me"

  • I bot sonim XP53 force last year. VERY VERY DISPAPOINTED ! When ever I am in Italy, Roaming problems: Searching, Searching, . . big bug . Network preference do not work: I leave in Geneva where we get French and Swiss signals: it just choose the strongest one. When I send SMS: does not keep them. two keys are not lighted. Finally, after sending twice to the shop, they got made and told me I was not the only one. The only thing I like with my Sonim was I can take pictures instantly with one hand ; not like iPhone . . . The aftersales service is just awkard ! I know it is made in China , but the brand is USA ! This is a shame ! it is a disgrace for US goods ! Now I bot a Samsung B21, no more problems,

  • great piece of kit, its been dropped, had great signal but now wont charge and the battery has died. Its now useless and I'm back to using my very old but trusty Sony Ericsson phone from 2004. guessing a board fault or dry joint. You expect better since I've only had this handset for four months.

  • katie i think you will find that the IP (ingress protection) rating on these phones denotes that the phone is (6) dust tight and (7) immersion at a depth of 1m for a duration of 30min so ye this phone is water proof.

  • Hey!People!I don't know what you do with your phones, but this is my short review about my Sonim XP3 Quest (black color): I have this phone 3 years and almost 4 month!!! Still going STRONG! I drop it,drop it hardly, put it in the water....it just working WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM!!! If I'm going to buy another phone it should be ONLY SONIM PHONES!!!

  • how did you get ahold of them

  • Found a used XP3.2 for a good price so thought it would be worth a try. I had high hopes but after a few months have been more disappointed than delighted. The good: - Yes, it's tough. Has withstood several episodes of spilled tea and beer. - Flashlight works great. Love this feature. - Camera is decent, if slow. - SD card feature works well. The bad: - Operating system is a bit cumbersome. - The alarm is linked to the ring setting. If you set the phone to "silent" ring you will not wake up when you want to. - The microphone is not working well. People have a difficult time hearing me when I call. - I downloaded the software from the Sonim website to my PC. The software won't recognise the phone. Since there's not much point in having a phone if people can't understand me when I call, I think I'm going to be divesting myself of this little brick. Shame, otherwise it was a decent bit of kit.

  • Piece of Rubbish. Charger problems, speaker problems and they took months to repair, lied about the time they received it, played me off against the dealer (who did the right thing),the women made acourtesy call when I asked questions she hung up on me and then said she got cut off, just bullshiters, just hopeless. This phone is an overated piece of rubbish as are the people who make it.

  • i think a carrier pigeon would be more reliable than this sad phone that i purchased

  • they are realy not as reliable as imagined mine failed after three months your better of with a well known brand tough phone

  • Katie,in response to your comment about my post ( under anon), if you took time to read the content of my post, you should have gathered that the phone is primarily meant for safety & emergencies. That is the whole purpose of me having a water proof/resistant phone. Holding a walkie talkie while i am floating out to sea with an injured companion, or simply wanting to call my family (who live 20 km away) advising i have just got safely out of the water, is not really going to help. Your stupid comment is not needed, and i am sure the highlight of your day is trying to lift yourself off the couch. I suggest you study up on the specs and IP ratings for the Sonim phones, maybe even check out a vid or 2 on their website and then you might be qualified to make further comments.

  • see my previous post outlining my problems with the sonim XP3.2 Quest/Land Rover S1. These, and all Sonim handsets come with a 3 year unconditional guarantee which covers any faults and even accidental damage, you break it, Sonim replace it. (yes-really!). I contacted Sonim directly and explained the situation. (I have read comments on how poor Sonims after-sales service was... ..not true in my case.!!). They were very concerned with the previous problems and sent out a brand new handset with the latest Updated software and i sent the old one back. This new phone appears to be "sorted", no software glitches, good reception, clear speech, good loud speaker. Sonim are obviously listening to their customers and improving the products. suffice to say, the samsung B2100 is back in the drawer and im a happy bunny again. My experience of Sonim is much improved. speak as you find, i cant fault them.

  • got the XP3.2 QUEST/ (Land rover S1) with a 2 year contract because the handset is way too expensive "sim free". 1st phone: factory installed hairline crack in battery cover and software fault where the handset would "freeze", no incoming calls despite the phone is switched on and the main screen lit,(all looked ok) missed dozens of important calls because "your phone was switched off", went straight to answer phone". its never off.phone would not even switch off, had to remove the battery to reset it. handset was replaced by tesco, fair enough. 2nd phone: software problems again, keyboard freeze and completely non responsive (intermittant fault), muffled speech from my end(bad microphone) and woke up one morning to find a misty screen, removed battery cover to find water droplets inside. the phone has only been in rain and never submerged.! Tesco could not replace it this time as they no longer sell it, quoted in store "too many problems, we just keep having them back" unquote. sent back to Sonim direct who replaced it with what looks like a new handset. fair enough. 3rd phone: built in flashlight does not work on the hotkey on the right hand side of the phone and it has frozen once so far, then flashlight switched on, and stayed on,i was only able to switch it off by switching the phone off and back on again. here we go again, will be contacting Sonim this week. never mind, ive have still got my trusty Samsung solid B2100 as a backup phone, which funnily enough, has never failed...ever. in 3 years. THIS IS THE 3RD SONIM IN 12 MONTHS. do yourself a favour and buy a Samsung in the first place, save yourself the hassle. could have been an excellent phone, what a pity the internals are christmas cracker quality.

  • Exactly what it says on the tin - hardware is awesomely tough, however the software inside is terrible. I've been using an XP3 for just over three years, and gone through three phones - the first was a speaker failure, the second a charging failure. Throughout all three separate units, however, the same software issues plague it; - the phone occasionally locks up when typing a message. The keypad becomes unresponsive and stays lit, the screen locks up and goes dark when it detects no input (due to keypad lockup), people are unable to call the device. the only remedy is to switch it off and back on again. - a keypad lock mode that basically refuses to actually lock anywhere but the main screen. apps like the stopwatch a a pain to use since you can't lock the keypad while looking at it. it's also very unintuitive - you have to hold down they * key for a full second to lock/unlock, which quickly gets annoying and has you wishing for a key combination you could enter quickly to do the same job a la Nokias' "menu, *" - an "emergency number" unlock feature that, instead of unlocking the phone when a full complete emergency number is entered (eg. 9, 1, 1, *unlock*) will unlock as soon as it recognizes the FIRST digit of a possible emerg. number, which can be either 1, 9, or 0. more often than not you will pull your phone out of your pocket and have something akin to "94798++215**" dialed up. luckily it will not actually call said number if the call button is pressed, as it recognizes it's not an actual emerg. number, but why wasn't that tied to the emerg. unlock function in the first place? - typing an sms using the dictionary will sometimes cause the word to "idle out" (i.e. think you stopped typing the word for an extended period of time and cancel it) even if you are still in the middle of typing said word. can happen multiple times in the same sms. - An sms dictionary that is incomplete, nor does it allow you to add your own words. (seriously, it does not recognize the words "hornet" or "pram" so far as I know, but there are lots more, including your basic set of swears too) - a universal time zone mode that has serious flaws in the programming. for example, Turning Sydney (Australia) onto daylight saving (when it's set as your local time) adds 1 hour onto Sydneys' clock... and adds TWO to Londons! when it's not your local time, daylight saving decides to instead take an hour off Sydney. not correct either way (should be a +10 hour difference normally, an +11 hour difference with Sydney DLS on.) - auxillary software applications that shut down without saving or running in the background when a call comes in. Doing laps on a track with the stopwatch? better hope no-one calls you when you're doing that, as you will lose your current lap time and any record of your progress! - a quick hotkey to "silent mode" which is great... until you realise this "silent mode" also doesn't include vibrate, so the only way you can tell if someone's calling in this mode is if you happen to be looking at the screen when they do. This hotkey is hard-coded, too, so you can't change it to another mode, such as "meeting" which is an actually useful "silent + vibrate" mode, except with the big flaw of still playing the "battery low" chime very, very loudly when it needs to. - really bad reception at times. calls can drop out in places other phones don't, even if within line-of-sight of a phone tower, and actually prevent whoever called you from calling you back until you move significantly. - rejecting a call counts as a missed call, even flashing a message on the screen saying you missed a call right after rejecting it. - An alarm clock that fails to save your designated alarm times if you make the mistake of pressing the hang up key to exit the alarm menu, and not the "exit" key. a very easy mistake to make when at the end of a long day and already half asleep, and I've missed plenty of meetings after assuming I've correctly entered my wake-up time and sleeping straight through. all in all, the hardware is very good, there may or may not be a few errors here and there, but otherwise, yes, its a very tough phone, and yes it will probably survive anything you can - maybe more. however, it's as if the programming team have either done their jobs with very little hours or pay, or none of them have ever used a mobile phone after the switch to sim cards; - in this day and age of smartphones, there's just no other explanation as to how some very simple programming/design errors have been made with this device.

  • I am now on my third phone they are realy crap phones they cut out will only re start with removeing battery mic is very poor people cannot hear you speaker crackles you cannot hear them and very poor battery life sonim support is crap to have you tried to contact them Each time the phone is away for weeks i have to use my old trusty nokia i keeps going I wish i had never bought the xp3 dosenot live up to its name

  • wowowow stop all stop talking about this brand TODAY 20% of return - speaker problem microphone problem software problem - the phone freeze what do you think lot of seller stop to sale this brand ??? why it s so difficult to find this brand phone ? The problem it s the same for all models in this brand

  • if u wanna buy the phone go to there website is www.sonimtech.com

  • Had the phone for a month then sold it. Reason: Very bad reception plus they couldn't hear me clearly on the other end. Before building a phone like a tank, make sure at least it's antenna can "breath" through the hard casing.

  • why dont you try a radio/ walkie talkie instead of a phone all phones are not wter proof they are water resistant

  • I guess it may be very strong in terms of external damage... Mine lasted all of 3 months. Never been abused. Woke up one morning and it was off. Refused to switch on. It has been with the districutor for two weeks - still no repair/replacement phone. I am very sorry I did not buy the Samsung B2400. Sonim was an error. Would never buy another one.

  • Hi all, i needed a phone to take in the water with me in case of emergency when i swim/boulder/cave around headlands. Whilst i now have it in 2 sandwich ziplock bags, stored in my non-water-proof backpack, to prevent unnecessary over exposure in the water ( for maybe up to 4 hours), when it was first tested it was put through way more than the 1 m/30 minutes rating! With pics and vids to prove it, the enduro spent at least 3 hours in the water, & went many times between 6 & 10 feet underwater & in 1 case approx 20 feet. many of those times were the result of some big unfriendly waves slapping me about while actually holding my Sonim like there was no tomorrow. At the end of the 1st test, the speaker was a bit muffled ( i think the 20 feet thing might be the culprit), but after drying out, has continued to serve faithfully and provide some peace of mind when my buddies and i are out doing our thing and there is no one else around to help in the event that(touch wood), one of us snaps a leg in between a boulder or gets knocked out in the water and we have to make an emergency call for help. It has also been very handy for when we have called for help when a couple of rock fisherman have been injured. After almost 2 years, i am just starting to have speaker issues, but i think that is more than likely due to my treatment of the phone beyond its recommended use. Cant wait for one to come out with a rating of IP68( completely water proof). Would be really cool to have a phone in your board shorts and not leave it on the beach, or order a pizza while sitting on your surfboard! ps, IMO, the yellow version would be better as its hard to find the black one when you drop it in the drink!

  • Very tough phones if the microphone issue and charging issue would ba sorted. Numerous replacements later the above mentioned problems are still being exhibited.

  • We got 10 of these tough phones from Telaustralia on $79 fleet caps for our business mobile phone fleet ..... and no problem at all. We were going through about 3 tradie phones a month but these phones are tough and we haven't had any issues with them yet over the past 6 months.

  • where i can find it?

  • Purchased a sonim xp3 enduro last year, rugged...waterproof to IP 67, just what the Dr. ordered. The phone was faulty fron the start, it would freeze up and the only way to remedy this was to take the battery out and start again,I thought it was something perhaps that I had done, would have loved to have checked out the instruction disc but unfortunately it would not open up in English and my Polish is a bit rusty. I put up with this problem as it was only intermittent. The phone gave up completely after 11 months. I recieved a replacement one (took about 2 weeks to get it ), this one died after a week.I took that back to First Mobile and after about 3 weeks I recieved my original phone back. This one lasted 2days as it was no longer waterproof. Took it back to First Mobile and off it went to be fixed.... 2 or 3 weeks later (starting to loose track of time now...bit like Ground Hog day)I recieve a NEW ?? phone...so in the sink it goes for 10 minutes in 6 inches of water, well they are supposed to be IP 67...submerged for 30 mins in a metre of water. Took the phone back to First Mobile, they took my SIM card out and dried it for me , nice people, on first names with them now.I told them that I don,t wish to have this phone replaced or fixed, money back would be preferable, we shall see what happens. Apparently First Mobile no longer stock XP3 phones anymore because they have had so much trouble with them. Maybe we just had all the duff ones sent to us.

  • I just bought this phone today. One word...disappointment. It is quite bulky and the speakerphone is pretty phone. All ringtones are meant for a very noisy environment. Trust me wherever you are working IT will be heard. It only has 3 volume levels for the ringtone which won't suffice, even at the lowest scale it is too loud. Menu is incomprehensible and I can seem to find how to personalize profiles other than the normal one.

  • I purchased the sonim xp3 enduro 12 months ago. This phone lasted about 9 months then developed a microphone fault, crackle on the line and loss of voice on calls, and the text msg would disappear this phone was replaced,By a new one (?)that would not charge so that was replaced then that new one did the same as the first one. So today of to Vodafone Nz to get another one Tried emailing Sonim But hahahahahahha Somin is the maker of the worlds toughest Phones Bull Shit

  • this is the best phone for real men like me!

  • I purchased my first sonim xp3 18 months ago. This phone lasted 4 months then developed a microphone fault, crackle on the line and loss of voice on calls, this phone was replaced, my second phone lasted just short of a year then devloped exactly the same fault, the no quibble guarantee seems to no longer apply to the phone have tried unsucessfully to get a replacemtent for 2 months now. Sonim have just been giving me the run around and if it wasnt for the fact that my husband likes the phone i would long ago have given up with this hopeless item

  • 1st XP3 20 showed all symptoms above - replacement works just fine - if your phone don't work right when you receive it, send it back for replacement immediately! - faults seem common from comments from retailer, but it IS a really excellent phone once you get one that's right!

  • Hopeless,USB port faulty, memory card wont read, can't download photos, address/contacts cant be edited when phone is not connected, can't adjust ring time so keep missing calls, stupid torch keeps coming on so flat batteries all the time. Just hopeless, all the rugged functions don't make up for the fact that it lets me down regularly, I hate it, never agian.

  • Poor bluetooth connectivity and poor reception. Phone contstantly turns itself off. If your looking for something that has long battery life, dust proof, water proof and bullet proof, this is it. If you want to use it as a phone, get something else. Hopefully the 3.2 will be an improvement.

  • SUPER PHONE !! long batery 7-10 days with no charge

  • I want a quadband with same battery life as with the Quest and same toughness(or even better)... Ditch everything else, id est those which are NOT NECESSARY..

  • When Chuck Norris calls you up to tell you he's coming over to kick your ass, he's making that call using THE SONIM XP3 ENDURO!

  • Just a quadband basic phone with IP67 or better rating plus same or even better battery life as with the XP3.2 Quest will be perfect for me.. Everything else will just be a welcome bonus but it would make it more expensive.. Sonim definitely has to make a more low profile phone while maintaining everything else especially toughness and long battery life.. This is a great idea for the XP2 phone which is missing from the XP series.. I hope you're listening Sonim...

  • I am using the phone more than a year and seems working fine so far. but you did not mentioned any kind of issues you are finding. may I can compare those too. lol.

  • Hi I'd like to know how long the battery of the enduro lasts.. I want it tough but also I want long battery life... The Qwest is great but too expensive right now.. Does it last for a week with moderate use? I have a Philips Xenium phone so I'm used to reliable battery life and I'd love to have a toughie such as this.. Please reply.. And have you used a Qwest?

  • I purchased this phone based on its toughness, durability and great warranty. Over a period of 7 months I have replaced 10 handsets, and although a 'no questions asked' replacement guarantee was initially welcomed, the novelty soon wore out and became a nightmare. The problems experienced across multiple phones were (i) a non-functioning microphone, (ii) bad feedback in the ear piece for both myself and callers, (iii) the screen going blank with the phone never to turn back on, and (iv) charging failure. This phone has caused me more trouble than it's worth but thankfully I have been able to rescind the service contract and move on. The best thing about this product is it makes a great paper weight!

  • I love Sonim I want to own one.. The company that takes toughness seriously

  • Dostupan u Makromikro dučćanima u ZG i Rijeci. Cijena 2745,00 kn. Ima u crnoj i utoj boji. Pozdrav iz Rijeke.

  • I heard a funny story from head office about south africa and sonim, aparently a whole container was of the phones was being shipped in for the first sales and the whole thing got stolen! and since then they havent sent any more cause they lost so much money.

  • What's up with the distribution in South Africa? Advert appeared on TV ages ago, but nothing available.

  • Hey Sonim reps out there please make sure that your tough phone reaches the Asian countries especially the Philippines, a lot of people would buy..

  • ditched the samsung,xp3 qwest, and landrover s1 ordered. only gripe not quad band. yellow and orange cool i like they alot.ice road trukers take note season 3 / 850 gsm avalible. mr sonim i like your gsm devices alot more bright colours please,a lorry driver in the uk. sonim rocks

  • A camera is just another thing to break. the quest and the xp3 vanilla are pretty much the same the quest has more stuff.

  • XP3 Quest, most durable and best performance of all these phones.

  • XP3 Quest will be availible in Sweden this week. It's the same thing as this, but it's a bit more resistant (yes, really), and has a camera (2MP) as well. A fifth version of this phone will come in Q3 this year, equipped with 3G. As of now, only XP1, XP1 Bluetooth, XP3 Enduro and XP3 Quest are availible.

  • Not in durability

  • quad band please hope new xp3 variant got it samsung beating you sonim

  • Try on Amazon it would be cheaper. Or get to sonimtech.com there's an online store (more expensive than a dealer tho), you can also use their online (where to buy) selecting your country etc...

  • Depends on which country your in?

  • i just wanted to bout xp3 for my husband plaese tell me where ?

  • You could do that but the 3yr guarantee would have to be vailidated in Australia. I do agree that the yellow option is much cooler. but not worth the filght to aussie when a can of Razzle Dazzle does the trick.

  • Not available in yellow from Vodafone in NZ - yet. I purchased my "yellow" sonim in Australia for $AUD445 and claimed the GST back when I left Australia. Works out about $NZ500! compared with $799 in NZ

  • Unfortunately the "vibrate" option does not work if the phone is on charge! This is a problem for me as I am on call 24/7 and the phone charges beside my bed at night and i like to leave it on vibrate so that I don't wake up with too much of a shock when it rings. Otherwise a great rugged phone

  • $799 NZD

  • a great telephone it looks

  • Here, in Croatia, only XP3 is available.

  • Hi I just wanted to know if the phone is avaliable anywhere in the world and how much will it cost ..

  • which one should i purchase xp1 or the xp3 and why

  • yeah thats right only the standard tones can be used. the tones on the phone are designed for maximum volume. so they can be heard ages away. cheers

  • I know the phone doesnt support MP3 but can I have customized ring tones, for instance MID-files or something or are the built in tones the ONLY ones that can be used?

  • jus pressa tha buton on around edge surface. hold with rotate nd presto. pul off nob to ss a nicer phon thknu

  • how do you get the torch to go on?

  • Hello i am a sonim rep in NZ and have just started selling the xp1 and the xp3 and the feed back im getting is all good like other phone models you get a few back in for repair but the warranty is a repalcement warranty so you get a brand new handset. Approved for the military Unquestionaly the worlds most rugged mobile phone.

  • Does this phone have a speakerphone option? I cant choose loudspeaker when i make a call?!!

  • Definitely agree with you!

  • All ya need to do for both this phone and the XP1 is check out the damage it can take on Youtube. No other phone could come close to this. Its the perfect working man/womans phone. It rings and txts and its tough. Price is not an issue for my many customers (work at Voda) - they spend hundreds per year replacing phones regularly. These are the sort of customers who spend a lot on their phone, valued customers, not just using a phone for facebook or or instant messaging, but what they were invented for - calling.

  • Just bought XP3 for my husband. He is maintenance manger on a farm. Killed 3 SE in the last 18 months (last one dropped in water). It true that is does not have all the fancy features, is built like a brick and weighs a ton, but.... won't have to buy a new phone every 6 months - makes the price not to bad. Can do cool party tricks. But seriously this is a great phone for people who work outdoors and in wet and dirty enviroments. If you want a phone that will last - this is it.

  • Yes you can, if it fits within the 10MB memory of the phone.

  • Of course you can set it to vibrate only:Choose the"meeting"at the quick settings menus-only vibration,no ringing. BUT if you choose the"silent"mode-something that you can do by keeping pressed the # button on the keyboard, without entering any menu...surprise:the phone becomes dead silent...no ringing,no vibration.

  • This may seem petty, but can you set it to vibrate and does it have an alarm? I've only seen ringing mentioned on the website and I need my phone to be quiet on several occasions.

  • got xp1 and xp3 both excellent phones. www.expansys.co.uk/ www.pushtotalk.co.uk good suppliers of these phones. i think yellow high visable the best colour find that in the snow / quad band would be nice to make it a true world phone.and longer longer battery please mr sonim only improvements i would need, and bluetooth 2.0 adp/ and brighter led/ that asking too much pleshette. like these a lot, nokia 6250 and ericsson r310 great things just got better. condurro is it pants or a poor wannabe toughie/ only dual band. sonim more hi vis colours please orange that;ll make them talk about being trendie. glow in the dark luminest hi vis phone that a differt idea eh. motorway workers, lgv drivers in quarries and on the road, ice road trukers, axemen emergncy serivices the list endless mr sonim. nice phone excellent dude.

  • most excellent toughie

  • where i can buy it in indonesia?

  • i got my xp3 today and brought it to work with me and the first thing i did was to take a pintglas of water an drop the phone in and then having a coworker call it. wonderful phone buy ffs

  • real funnt there.... just a question i had im still buying this phone to replace my iphone so still, can you or can you not use mp3 as ringtones

  • Yeah you can I upload mp3 files to the micro sd card and used them for the ring tones

  • Can you use mp3s for ringtones in this phone?

  • Interesting this is supposed to be the XP3 Enduro column but people are talking about the LM801 lol So far my experience of the LM801 is it seems a tough no nonsense phone. Easy enough to navigate round the menu and has a good battery life. If you are after a tough phone and the feature set fits the bill this is worth a look.

  • Regarding the condurro phone,I did get my money back, but they were reluctant to honor their unconditional warranty until that is I got my local Citizens Advice Bureau on the case, but the phone is really awful to use and feels very antiquated, the phone reminders are limited to short words only and you only get three,it has really bad ring tones that sound like cheesy porn tunes, they keys aren't very tactile and the navigation key is stiff and hard to use, this could be a good phone, but it seriously needs a rethink and some more development time.

  • Also to let you know the XP1 will be available Grade A unused from www.futuregizmos.co.uk at 82.99 grab a bargin 10 day leadtime though and limited stock

  • Can anybody tell me what the PC Sync does. I am interested in how I keep my names and numbers up to date. Have I got to do it all on the phone or can I do it on a PC and transfer to phone ?

  • I have it for a months now and use it in the field. No change regarding battery. This one in bigger and tougher. The pc-tools can be improved a lot. I can operate it wearing gloves. The messeging needs improvement and the flashlight is a good addition. If it had a compass or a way to have a gps it would be the ultimate tool. So far, it worth the money.

  • almost same

  • Yes but you haven't said about the battery performance.. How good is it? According to the review of XP1 here the battery is good but in your experience how about the XP3?

  • It is 1180mAh,Xp1's battery was 110mah,so the difference is not that much.Menus are also EXACTLY the same as XP1's-so texting has not improved at all,unfortunately-BUT XP3's keyboard are MUCH,MUCH more faster and responsive than XP1's. Do note that XP3 is a LARGE telephone, somewhat bulkier than a Nokia 3310,and quite heavy, although personally i don't mind.An improvement in the menus arrangement and more logical texting-that is,Nokia style menus and texting-and this WEAPON WILL RULE,INDEFINITELY. And for those who are wondering:YES,i own both XP1 and XP3 so my comments are not a guess..

  • Sonim please create a phone with the same battery life of the Philips Xenium phones and your phones will be perfect.. By the way can anyone please share how the battery is for Sonim?

  • Thank you for your info! Maybe I'll wait for the second generation version of the LM801, so they can work the bugs out.

  • Regarding the condurro M801 being a similar phone, well I just purchased one,and not all the features work,it's tempremental and isn't waterproof,I used mine in the shower it water is clearly behind the screen, but the company told me they tested it in 2 ft of water for 10 minutes without problems, they did say it comes with an unconditional warranty,so I will say if they honor it or not.

  • how long have you had this phone w.....!

  • I am having an issue with the negative replies/feedback to this phone about it being ugly or not having enough features. Please ask Vanna to buy a clue - this is not a phone for the Metrosexual guy that goes to a salon to get his hair, eyebrows, and nails done - this is a phone for men that acutally get their hands dirty and work for a living or hunt constantly in the woods/fields/rivers. I am on my 3rd cell phone in less than 10 months, I seem to destroy them and am sick of it. I just got one of these XP3's and hope it is the nswer to my dreams. I have said for years, "I do not need a fancy phone that can take pictures, surf the net and blow me at the same time - I just want a phone that will last and make/recieve phone calls" - this sounds like it is it.

  • The LM801 seems to have many of the rugged features of the Sonim phones plus a compass, altimeter, pressure barometer, torch and laser pointer among others. Is there anyone in the GSM Arena community that owns or has used this phone? Specs are here:

  • I own the XP1 and used in the field. You cannot imagine what things this phone can take. I'm only bying the XP3 for the water-proof capability. My XP1 is yet to be destroyed but I don't care. If Sonim goes for a phone with a compass and maybe GPS, they'll need a bigger factory! Sonim has created a club of dedicated followers!

  • sht!\too high price and simple device - for 45eur will be good for tourists))) but price will be more higher)

  • great phone for builders/farmers etc. But even they want a half decent (2mp) camera and expandable memory for storing pics/music. And with Land Rover branding, a big step up from the JCB toy.

  • At Last a phone which does exactly what it says on the tin.It is an extremely tough phone and I love it.some people are commenting on the styling of it,well as far as I am concerned it looks and is a cool phone. It came with a very strong belt holster(very useful as I am a builder).Over the years I have spent hundreds and hundreds on mobile phones which dont last a month!!!!! I have dropped this phone off ladders and it still works perfectly. The screen has remained scratchless and looks like new after being used on numerous dirty building sites.I highly rate this phone...dont hessitate to go and get one they are brilliant!!

  • do somthing about your spelling and grammar guys!

  • I like this thing. I used to have an old Sanyo phone that was one of those "go big or go home" kinda phones. This isn't some lil pretty boy phone like most of them out there. Really even though it is expensive for lacking features that are pretty much standard on some phones these days, you're paying for a different feature set. These things are pretty much indestructable, I've seen one of these go through hell an a half, and still worked. You're paying for durrability which i think is more important then a GPS, MP3 player, 8mp camrea, cell phone. least you know this thing won't break if you drop it or falls in a beer (my poor lil Razr Maxx).

  • I think this Phone should be equipe with Compass, temperature and altimeter..

  • I work for an Irish Telecomunications company and this phone isnt covered by any of the Irish networks! Its a real shame cause we cant keep these on the shelf, we sell these simfree and people are still willing to fork out the big 's for them! Any one even comparing a sony ericsson to this phone is a fool like many of you that have mentioned this phone is for a target market and as a former plumber myself and I would have loved to have had one of these at my fingertips at the time! Back to the sony ericsson's they have to be the most unreliable phones on the market we have nothing but problems with our customers keypads and memory card readers i havent had one Sonim back, to date (touch wood)! As for Sonim a few extra featurs would be nice and wouldnt go unnoticed!

  • This phone is perfect on outdoor use for Outdoor Enthusiasts and an avid adventurer like me, . .

  • what is the reception and tha battery life like

  • Nokia should have realized that there was a market for these type of phones when deciding to pull the plug on the dear 5140i.

  • Wish they included the Camouflage in the color template. It'll give it a more toughie look. Gotta love it. Hoo-aahh

  • Only its nice for talking with fish???

  • I have a SE W850i and i am sure it can beat this ugly looking excuse for a phone. I've dropped it on concrete numerous times, no problem; dropped it in water, no problem (except once i had to let it dry before using it), sat on it, threw it around, steped in it and IT WORKS PERFECTLY. Of course the display is a bit scratched but other than that it is as good as new.

  • Amazing Phone... Navigation Tools would help the overall appeal of the phone... Sans it seems like missing something...

  • Well, it might be expensive but when you use it to call for help in the middle of a hurricane, where thoudsand of other phones are long gone then suddenly, it won't be that expensive no more. Unless... you life isn't worth that 500 euros.

  • It's a NICE phone...it's built to last...so it would be imposible for it o look like the Arte. i gave it 10-10-10 because it's a tough phone..it lasts..and it looks like it means business - industrial like, it's not meant to be gay-ishly good looking. It's kinda' the same difference as between a CAT truck vs RolsRoyce. Each targeting a specific & very different

  • This phone is soooooooooooooooooo ugly...

  • The looks of the phone arent inportent for construction workers or something like that. How hard is it to find a yellow phone on an construction yard ? its much easier than finding an blackphone. And what phone resist water dust etc like the Sonim. I think its an good phone. Only the price is way too much if you see the functions it offers.

  • 1. is this phone is water proof be couse if yes for fishing man its noy bad at all 2. if i droup this phone on floor i have to be shure its not going to brake ? I hope it has some vibrihion when i droup that phone on floor or some where. Where i working like protechion HOW MUCH IS THIS PHONE GO FOR $ if somebody think this phone is ugly!!!! its not i toy and its not for games just made of talking its barby and ken phone

  • To let everybody understand this phone is built for outdoor use. You can bring this whenever you go trekking, biking, fishing and anywhere you want with harse environment. But there are features that are lacking: GPS, Thermometer, Altimeter, Barometer and long battery life.

  • price 500 euro????? Way TOO much

  • Similar specs have been available in "adventure" phones since 2005!! What's the point of this device? Apart from being ugly it offers almost nothing new. Ok, it is water resistant, but where is the GPS. geo-tagging, etc?

  • it is very ugly .the design is unacceptable at all.

  • Are you kidding? Every second question I get at work is the whole "I need a phone that is durable"

  • another chuck norris phone

  • would be great if it was 3g,

  • It must be the best phone for builders on the market.... just in case u forget the hammer and u r high on scafolding u might use that hehe. but to be honest i'm sure there is quite a big market for that type of tough phones.

  • no gps? :S

  • Thermometer! Altimeter! Long Battery Life! Speakerphone!

  • All i can say is, lets have a test. I'm very sure the Ericsson will beat the XP3.

  • this is my favorite fone by look.

  • well said

  • no. it is a sonim xp3 enduro

  • tough phone indeed. but does that imply substandard specs?

  • i think samsung b2700 is better

  • 140g ftw ahaha

  • It doesn't need high specs. And the Ericsson would be dead after a drop in the water, not even talking about high pressure.

  • guys, yes, this is not a fancy nokia with useless fetures! is it a phone to use on construction sites, outdoor etc. if your think this phone is useless, you are not the targeted marketing segment. go for nokia!

  • Caterpillar boots, Panasonic toughbook and Sonim XP3 Enduro if you're working in Nevada desert

  • I cant believe everyone is slagging this phone off. If all you want is a 'tough phone' then its perfect i.e. a tradesmen or just someone who keeps breaking their phones

  • Awesome phone for what it is..goto you tube and check out the videos, if you can break it they will give you money, plus a new phone..

  • Nice phone if you work for a living, and don't need a poncy phone to pose with in the pub, or check your Facef**k account in the Uni bar

  • I like this phone, it usefull for my poor country-side where everybody usually get trouble with storm 's disaster...they must be happy if they have it on their hands...I'll order 10000 units for my country!!!

  • is it a weapon?

  • Specs are way to low for this phone. And when it comes to being strong, it won't beat the good old Ericsson R250s pro

  • This is THE phone to get if you have lousy providers...

  • useless phone, complete waste of time , money. Heavy, very thick with zero fearures

  • Very solid looking bit of kit, what happened to the XP2 though?!
