After 3 and a half years mi little Moto G2 finally black screened today. It lasted multiple drops, OS updates and even a USB port exchange. This phone holds a very special place in my heart because it was always reliable, had a good camera and streamed video in 720p. Around 6 months ago, the battery started to die at 30%, a week ago it died at 60%, and today it just shows a black screen whenever i turn it on. However, it was worth every cent and I just wish i could give it a proper goodbye. A tough, resiliant and always handy phone.

Hey guys.... So I've been using Moto G2 for about 8 months now.... And I haven't seen any issues on the battery performance....and the camera is quite awesome upto the price range of this phone... It's been worth while using this phone The only issue I have is that... With its storage capacity and RAM... I mean it's really low the capacity of RAM Overall the phone holding up pretty good... Good to be a happy customer with Motorola *Before Lenovo bought it*

I absolutely agree, this is probably one of the best phones out there that are still being updated with ROM's on XDA and really good ones like Lineage OS 16 ffs. It's a fkin 5 year old ANDROID PHONE with 1 GB of RAM. Only apple does this kind of support nowadays.

Hello I still own my Moto G2 since i bought it in April 2015 and i don't have any problems like you describe.. Official support is dead (well it's getting closer to being a 5 year old phone) but the aftermarket support is still good. You should look on XDA Developers for custom roms/kernels.. I use the Lineage OS 16 (based on android 9.0) and it's working fine. (i did enable a low_ram_enabler for android). The Snapdragon 400 isn't fast anymore but still usable for basic tasks.. So i would suggest, try rooting your device and install a custom kernel+rom and see if it's still crashing frequently

I have used this phone for the last 4 years. It was really worth buying it. The camera quality is still good and the gorilla glass makes it more worth it. The only demerit ia its battery life. But, considering all other benefits, it can be ignored. A happy and satisfied customer.

I am still using Moto G2 and, believe or not, it never failed! the only problems these days are a small capacity battery, limited to 1 Gb memory and poor quality camera.. otherwise it is a great phone, very reliable! And also, it was ran over by a car last year but nothing bad happened to it, just a plastic case got crashed!

I have had this phone for over 3 years and it's still pretty great. Dropped it and broke the screen, put plastic wrap over it and it works just as well as it did in the beginning. It can't run intense games without getting warm, but for everything else it gets the job done and I'm pretty happy with it. The small storage is a bit of a pain, though. The OS takes up 2GB, leaving me with 6GB which runs out quickly - a problem if you like to take lots of photos.

I have this phone even now. The phone was usable when I purchased it but after android 6.0 firmware update it became slow and buggy, and after that it was very frustrating to use it as a daily driver. The problem was android 6.0 was never a stable update on any smartphone so very early in its lifetime Google released a more stable android 6.0.1 or 6.0.3 update but even after months of delay when Motorola released android marshmallow update for Moto G2 they choose inferior and buggy 6.0 update only to cripple the phone so we might buy new phones, that was the game plan of every smartphone manufacturer in those days. Secondly it was a forced update which you couldn't deny. After these kind of business tactics I decided against any future purchase of Motorola smartphones. They could have released stable update and retain their future customers and been a relevant smartphone manufacturing company.

I am not logged in but, telling of my 4 year experience with the Moto G 2nd cell phone and the reasoning behind abandoning this inherently faulted device. It maybe be taken down and called trolling. The choice of purchase by me of this device and interactions spans many chosen alignances by Moto g 2nd gen has been trouble from the start and successively faulty from the setup with the cell service provider via AARP/ The failed (1ST)phone and lack of support from the manufacturer to educate was poor at best.The (2ND) phone has proven to follow the same pattern with both me, AARP/Consumer Cellular improper/faulty sim cards,etc. I have purchased multiple recommended accessories for the device to better enhance it usability and reliability to no better operative results the multiple softwatware upgrades to the device usually made it more deficient and limiting to the user. The reasoning usually given of these forced,security,provider, government compliance required, with multiple software fixes (better known as patches) that followed have been faulty/damaging, product enhancements, etc have been trying. The motorola customer service (if you can make contact with them) usually ended in frustration for both the customer service person and phone owner, resulting in(if still under the abbreviated, limited warranty criteria) led to a exact flawed device less everything your added to it to try to get it to function usually blamed on the user, bad battery, faulty charger improper use of non-motorola charge/cords, breakage, water damage, and obsolescences. While this abandonment and loss mitigation approach succeeds on better with greater distance from the user requesting repair/service of device by poorly trained ,ill-equipped individuals abandoned by the original manufacturer in modern business structure of late,"in my experience and only an opinion". I see this as a similar example of "If they can't find me, they can't make me" or "Slash and burn farming". Please review and advise (warn) others PITA Grp

this phone came out with android v4 now you probably running v6 which has much more functionality and more demanding to run. Factory resetting the phone helps alot (make sure you back up cause you will loose all data). you could also clean the phone with some thing like master cleaner and restart it.

Starting 2years it works nice, after it getting slow. Overall I liked this phone. But I recommend not to go Moto. Because the service is worst compares to any other phones. Indiranagar Bengaluru service centre people are selling duplicate and 3rd party accessories. Even I complent to regional manager they didn't take any action.

This phone is good in my opinion. Still using it, bought it from someone who had it for two years and I have been using it for one year. Battery still manages 4-5 hours of SoT after three years. With Android 6 you can use sd card (use a fast one) as internal storage. Only bad thing is 1GB Ram. Got many software updates: Kitkat-Lollipop-Marshmallow. CPU/GPU can still handle games released in 2017. Camera takes very good photos/videos for its price range. Very good and loud dual front speakers. Haptic and ergonomics are really good, never slides out of your hand. One of the best 5inch phones to hold due to the curved back. I wish there would be a neo version of this with better internal specs.

I agree with many of the previous comments. When I bought the Moto G second gen, in August 2015, it was a good phone (cheap and very good price for value). Then after one year I really started feeling the small RAM and ROM: the phone started to work really slow and the internal memory is so small that at some point even moving files to the external card does not help. Also the screen started showing lots of shadows (not being cracked). After 2 years the case started cracking (it's in plastic), but I admit it fell from my hands couple of times and I have no cover. I can also confirm the recurring issue with the Bluetooth, which can be unstable from time to time (you perceive it when transmitting music). After 2 years and 2 months I switched to the OnePlus 5

I bought this phone in januari 2015. It still works great it's only a bit slower than when i bought it. But you can buy the Motorola Moto G4 for the same price as i got this 2 years ago, so buy the newer one it's cheap for what you're getting. I really recommend it. The bluetooth on this G2 is a bit weak or something, when i'm streaming Google Play Music to a 3rd party bluetooth device the music randomly cuts out a lot and i don't know what causes it, weak connection or not enough RAM or something.

Buying MOTO G phone itself is waste of money. No parts are available for any replacement. For all models of MOTO G, there is charging problem & their service cell not able to resolve it. Holding my phone in their custody almost 20 days, they are least bothered to call & inform the status. when i called to their customer care number @Jayanagar 4th Block, they won`t pick the calls. Finally when i visited their service centre, they said no parts are available & take back your phone. The instrument is 2 Years old & it was not getting charged. Now i don`t have option, except to buy new phone. I don`t know, why they sell such phones in the market. I appeal every one not to go with MOTOG.

I have also deleted some default Google apps. Though it warns but nothing happened to my device. You can also go to "developer options" in settings and change the window animation, transition animation and animator duration scale to 0.5x. check YouTube videos for more details.

Does your phone is updated to marshmallow. The battery life has considerably improved after marshmallow update. You can also switch to battery saving mode. However, i agree that the battery is not sufficient for heavy usage.

Hi all! Could any one tell me if this Moto G is repairable. because mine just fell on the floor but did not show any sign of damage but when I reached home at night and tried to charge it, as I plugged in the charger, it started charging but after a while I notice that the screen was displaying a different color from the usual during charging, and after about an hour or so, I checked only to find out that it, instead discharged the remaining energy that was left and switched off. have tried severally to get it to charge but could not succeed. Good camera n all....but the only thing that suckss a lot is 2000 mah poor battery...which can not even last for a half day...on an average it was a good 3G phone in its category

If you do buy this model second-hand, make sure the previous owner has removed it from their Google and Motorola accounts, or you can't use it, after a clean reset. Solution for lags, install Radium Redefined Marshmallow ROM from XDA, then install Greenify from the Play Store to hibernate apps consuming battery, RAM and processing power in the background, Facebook+Messenger for example hogs all of your phone's memory.

@Sonali, windows phone are simple to use. Need not worry about it,if you are switching from Android. Most apps like WhatsApp,hike,fbmessenger,wechat,skype,viber etc work with windows. In fact windows phone will actually use less data if you are on 3g/4g. above all blackberry messenger works very well on windows. Only Xender is something that you will miss. Only thing is it lacks is unwanted free apps that have flooded Android world. Go for windows phone.

You can activate that feature by adding one line in the build.prop code, it's very simple but you'll need to have super user permissions aka root and a root explorer.

Just install Marshmallow and adopt your SD Card as internal memory (I recommend using only Class 10 or better), that's a native feature of 6.0 Android. I recommend Redefined ROM MM, it's a lot more stable and smooth than stock MM from Motorola, it's very lightweight, around 250MB, I use it as a daily driver, but for that you'll need to unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery like TWRP.

I'm using moto g2 for 2 years,beside all of its good things like stereo speakers, realy good quality images(not selfie), a little water proof and last standing cellphone, it has some problems like over heating and low battery life and can't take full hd videos; but for me it has one other big problem, very big problem that realy hurts me is the screen quality,it hurts my eyes, i think maybe it has too much blue background color and dark colors shown as black. I've had this little cheap phone for 2 years now. It was supposed to be a temporary phone, but I've been so happy with it that I'm gonna keep it for as long as I can! I have compared to my friends' phones like Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 and 6 and I can honestly say there isn't much difference in speed because it's very streamlined from Motorola and Google creators. I also love the size because I have small hands and it fits comfortably in my pockets. I hear people complaining about 4g and 3g...I didn't even noticed that it doesn't support 4g...it's so fast that I'm surprised it doesn't. LOL. I use an 8gb SD card to keep my phone as light as possible and also the Google drive to store all my junk. My battery last the whole day and in 2 years hasn't been depleted yet. The only thing I wish it had a better front camera...selfies are very bad.

Have used g2 for almost 2 years. The phone was great at its time. But now for a smooth smartphone experience you require a phone with better memory (RAM). Have had trouble booking cabs by uber! Overheating and low battery life are the biggest let down for this product. In the coming age, many commercial activities are going to shift to m-commerce (most already have). You need a phone that's more reliable. I am switching to moto z play which will be released in India on the 17th of October. Motorola as a brand continue to bring up products as the need changes. They learn from the drawbacks from their old phones and incorporate changes in their new models at a reasonable price. Its time to shift with the time.

I too had a G2, one of the best handy budget phone with great built quality. But now I'm forced to buy a new phone since this does not support 4G and has only 1 GB of RAM. I wouldn't have missed this, if they had made this changes while upgrading from 1st generation. Since samsung or Xiomi can't satisfy a motorola customer, I'm going for the Moto E3 power (I know, its a tough time for Motorola and is trying hard to keep it's legacy under Lenovo) for a price of RS 3649/- from flipkart by exchanging G2.

Very quick to overheat, overprocesses itself, shuts itself down WITHOUT NOTICE, and overall just a very slow phone regardless of how much storage memory I've emptied or if I've restarted the phone recently. I have like 6 month using it, and I update the Radio FM app and now takes like more than 1 minute to work. its like in the background is updating the stations I think and after all of that starts working, so If I turn it off and back on is the same, I need to wait like 2 minutes to have the radio working. I agree!! I am using it since 2 years and its a great phone (not considering 4G). Huge internal memory and quiet satisfactory battery back up as well. I have used it to watch virtual classes during my 4 years of MBBS and 2 years MD so extensively and was expecting it to hang/crash, but it still works great. Tech advancements keep happening, cant blame older models for something like that. Anyways, its only but intelligent to move to 4G :)

You need to understand that Moto G2 is a budget phone launched in 2014. Since then lot of things have changed. Nowadays, budget phones have 3GB ram compared to 1GB in Moto G2. So, it is unfair to compare Moto G2 with new age phones. You can still get a swift performance from Moto G2 by following the below steps: 1. Use an SD card to store applications and other files. 2. Delete all the unimportant and old messages. 3. Install only the important apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, truecaller etc. The above steps should ensure that you have at least 90MB of free ram and a few GB of storage. With this, I don't see any reason why there should be any performance issues. Conclusion - You need to keep you expectations low and save some ram by installing only the important applications. I work with 17 apps (downloaded from play store) and it works fine for me. Don't forget, Moto G2 was a trend setter and best selling phone of its time. The phone offers good screen, is comfortable to hold, very well built and has loud speakers.

This phone was fine. It was right in the middle of the $200 unlocked phone category. Camera: fine Memory and speed: fine Nothing to write home about. But them is stopped working. I started searching around and it seemed like everyone was having the same issue. Boot looping. A problem with the design of the phone that EVERY Moto G 2nd gen is susceptible to. But worst of all the company doesn't do anything about it!!! Worst customer service experience ever! Bottom line: Go with a cheap Samsung or HTC because Moto is a disappointment

This phone is good for conventional things like texting and calling but when it comes to apps, it needs improvement. All of my apps (music, Snapchat, messenger) randomly shut down and restart at least twice a day. Recently this phone restarted itself and lost all the data for one of my apps which is a huge inconvenience. It's a cheap price for a smartphone but its price reflects its quality.

Personally I have had ZERO issues with this phone (other than I actually liked my smaller sized semi-smart phones) until installing Pokemon GO. In addition to using up the battery rapidly, if I'm trying to use bluetooth headphones AND Pokemon GO those two apps tend to restart themselves every once in awhile. This phone isn't any lightweight powerhouse with incredible battery life but it does take good pictures, has good sound, looks good and works well as a... PHONE. ;)

It was working well for about 4 months but now it's just annoying. The phone keeps complaining about the memory even when a lot of stuff is removed. Also some times it shuts it self off and after turning it on again all settings are changed weirdly. Many times when someone is calling me I can't hear them but they can hear me. First impression of Motorola was very good but now unfortunately I have to put in my "Do not buy again"- list.

Hey if you're looking to buy this phone, save your money. I got my first Moto G2 last March, not only did the battery die extremely quick but it overheated all the time. By May of the same year the phone completely crashed. We sent it off to Motorola to get fixed and in the mean time borrowed a Moto G1 from family (it has a horrible camera but was a decent phone I guess). My phone came back in June and I transferred everything from the G1 back, only to have the phone completely crash again the same day. Once again and finally after another long period of time Motorola sent back a "refurbished" G2 (because why give your customers a new phone when you can fix someone else's broken one?). This phone worked much better, except it dying extremely quick and glitches where the battery life seen is not at all the charge your phone has left, the storage claiming to be full constantly when it had a full gig untouched with a 32 GB SD card, constant overheating, glitching out and restarting, and recently the speakers turning off while playing music forcing you to reset the phone before using the speakers again. Don't get me wrong this refurbished one is at least 10x better then the original, but still not worth what I paid for it. And now the screen cracked and Cellular One refuses to fix it, they just say you can buy a new phone for $80 and I refuse to do that seeing how bad every other phone I've gotten from them being so horrid. If a phone is bad enough for me to deal with a shattered screen for a year instead of getting a new phone of the exact same make/model its not worth it. I have 7 more months with the G2 before our contract ends and I am just counting the days until then.

Very bad to use two Sims in one cell. I could not use one sim due to slot issue and I am not getting any calls and also I could not use net pack. Troubling users very badly.

Has its problems but all of them can be solved. Has only 5.5 GB of useable internal memory -> get a high speed micro sd card and integrate it as internal memory (this is a new feature of android 6). Camera takes long to load up and is glitchy in snapchat, battery life can be poor -> install cyanogen mod (this will unfortunately void the warranty). Only problem left is that the lack of ram makes it impossible to play Pokemon go in built up areas. Other than that, this is an awesome phone for the price, get a good screen protector and you've got a very capable durable phone that wont cost you the world if you lose it.

had this phone for a year and a half almost, till i smashed it. never dropped it before, but was drunk and it fell out of my pocket when looking for wallet, and display cracked. this being the 1st and only time i dropped it. got mad and smashed it to pieces. before this: battery life was very short, if browsing web 3g or using fb mess, would only last for about 6-7 hours. after a year it really started to slow down, going into apps, or opening them. sometimes when receiving calls the menu wouldn't pop up so i wasn't able to answer, or the phone kept being locked. lots of bugs with the calls, outgoing/incoming. would sometimes restart for no reason. by the point of smashing it, i was getting really fed up with it. the only good thing was the camera, which took excellent pics for 8mp. better than my friends samsung galaxy s4. also, it only came with the data cable (no charger), battery was incorporated so no easy change/repair possible, and couldn't find any covers for it to keep it safe (summer 2015), cause motorola didn't make any for the 2nd gen. it heats very fast on calls, or when playing games. also when charging, it gets really hot. all of this can't be good long term. recently the mini-sd card i had in it wasn't getting detected. tried the card on other phones and had no problem. i have no idea why it was broken. read a lot of reviews before buying that praised it, but now i'd slap the "pros" that wrote them. also, it wasn't a cheap phone, when i bought it, it went for ~220 Euro. it's not a total piece of crap but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Well at first it was good as we have few app installed..... But then after 1 year it shows its true color.when you connect your wifi for sometimes u can't use your mobile to do anything, it goes to hang mode... And battery is also very bad... Used to be the flagship phone when I purchased Moto G 2nd gen , back in 2014 October. Sadly it is not reliable after a year. Even before one year, it started giving me troubles in terms of charging port. The after sale service is also very poor guys. They kept me waiting for almost a month and told that the charging port issue will not be covered by the guarantee. I had to pay for a whole new set of motherboard. Even after the repair, the charging port was giving me headache. Then of course the heating is also too much.. especially when you're on youtube or gaming and even while charging.. The battery back up is very poor .. lasts for a very few hours if you're on Data/3G. WiFi is manageable though(if youre not using youtube or downloading stuff).. The phone gets super slow eventually and the app updating is super duper slow in playstore.. Camera used to be above average in the initial days..but after a software update that sucked too. Takes longer to click and load pictures. Never going for a Moto phone again.. Though its a great phone if you're planning to gift it to parents or elders who use minimally...

They replied to me that nothing can be done since the pin is attached to the motherboard and the cost of mthrbrd is near about the price of a new cellphone. Install cm 13. I was having the same problem till I installed cm 13 now the phone works as it should. I used to keep having crashes especially when using Facebook and I can multitask with few heavy apps such as Facebook, messenger, chrome all at the same time.

I've gone through at least three phones in the last year (bad buying decisions of knockoff Android phones) and I thought I was saved with this Motorola G2. It worked great for a year, and though there were minor issues with overheating and apps disappearing from the home screen, it wasn't a big enough deal for me. But about three months after the one year warranty period, the phone stopped charging. It's at a repair shop right now, but based on the frequency of this issue I'm out of luck. If you want a CHEAP phone you can use for a FEW YEARS, this is NOT IT. So the hunt continues for me...

Worst ever phone that I have encountered as of now. I have used Samsung, Sony, Micro-max. Yeah there are always some problems with the phones but this one totally irritating. Micro-Max fared well than this one. 1) Phone's speed comes down to half of its original peed after couple of month or may be earlier in-case if you use Fb messenger, whatsapp, twitter daily. 2) It doesn't detect my sims at all. Initially it couldn't detect one temporarily. But then 1 sim had gone totally undetected for life time and the other one too is on its way to go undetected now. 3) Call you Bf/Gf now, call them after few seconds. Wait, you cant ! Contact is there right in-front on the screen but it wont make the call even if you tap the contact 100 times. Later search the same in CONTACTS, it will show:- No contact available. Now type first 3 digits of the number in the CALL, it will show the contact, tap now, but wont make a call. 4) This is proved. I have 3 more friends using same piece of sh*t. The phone charger gets heated up extensively and wont work anymore after 7 months properly. 5) Talk to your friend continuously for 15-20 mins and then you can cook omelet on the phone's screen. 6) This phone is hardly compatible to Android 5. Forget 6 !!!!

I am writing this review after using for 20 months. Decent phone with mediocre features. However, after 6 months of usage phone's performance came down. Loading issues and sometimes hangs. Not a smart phone with long-run capabilities even with limited apps usage.

The worst phone ever. It was working all fine through the warranty period which was for one year. After the completion of the warranty period, the touch stopped working. As per the solutions found on the motorola website and given by customer care, I needed to either reboot my phone or had to perform the factory reset function. I tried everything but my problem still persisted. Motorola was my worst decision ever.

Hello, My moto g 2nd gen doesn't detect my sim -neither slots-. The problem first appeared yesterday. I've tried rebooting it and resetting it. I used my sim in a different device and it worked perfectly fine. I also used another sim -which worked in a different device- in my moto g and it didn't detect it either. Does anyone know how to fix this problem -if it can be fixed at all- ?

Worked great up until a year. Then like everyone has said, heating, spontaneous shutdowns, crazy lag or app crashes. If I would've known about this before purchase never would have bought this phone. The lack of upgradable memory hurts this phone immensely. Apps will disappear from home screen because you have to move them to your SD card (which you have to go through the process of formatting). Just not the worth the trouble for the amount of money. Bad phone unless it is short term.

DON'T BUY : My Moto G2 phone warranty is one year and is few months back. Last week I could see phone is not charging and the service center guys said that the mother board is faulty. It costs Rs 9000. I though to use this phone at least 3 years. Now i have to buy another phone. I could see many other has mentioned the same issue. WORST EXPERIENCE :- I purchased it one year ago and just after completion of warranty period its stopped working due to motherboard issue which costs 9000/-. The worst thing is that alongwith other parts even charging slot is connected with motherboard and one has to changed motherboard if any of them got faulty.

My dad had just bought me and my sister this phone in Jan., now we are in May and it is really beginning to aggravate me. It is a good phone, I won't lie, however as soon as it started having problems with small glitches, it went downhill. If my apps would glitch out (or the phone with no apps open) I'd set it aside and allow it to work out whatever. After a good 20 minutes I would see that my phone had turned off! Not restarted, turned off! Also, if I tried to restart it, it would come up with a screen saying, 'Optimizing App 1 of 1". This screen would stay there for 30-60 minutes. Sometimes it would turn on if I hit the lock button. Even if my phone is charging at night, it will shut off and I will miss my alarms. Stupid right? Well this is how it's been since mid-Feb. My sister has been having the same problems. Yet, it does do me some good when it actually works. But I'm just revealing the bad side.

I'm using this mobile for atleast a year. The only thing I don't like is it's battery life. It goes down quickly and problems happened as everyone said but if you know how to handle it you'll never think of any other mobiles. One of the best mobiles I've ever seen. After marshmallow update it's performance improved....☺✌

Please do not invest your hard earned money on MOTO X , the display is as delicate as a twig. snaps and breaks even on small nicks. does not take an impact even if the fall height is just few centimetres. and to get it replaced is even more cumbersome. wait for long hours to get it done in select MOTO customer care centres and delivery time is also dismal. I hate this phone. Never had such an experience with any earlier smart phones I bought. I want to change but already invested so much on this phone, its like a liability . Please do not buy MOTO. The head office is in US ,so you cant even contact your manufacturers.

google and search for kitkat rom for moto g2 after u find the file, make sure that it is original stock rom not customized download it and place it in phone and now go to recovery mode and select install from sd card option and select the file and it will start the installing process and then back to kitkat 4.4.4 .. I haven't tried this downgrade process with motorola devices can't say much about it but it can also damage ur device / void warranty try at ur own risk , backup data first and if u need any help for this process just google for it or watch youtube..

Its the worst phone to buy compared to others in the same price range. The worst battery backup and once it switches off, it takes alot of time to charge to even one percent. Its gets heated up too fast especially while taking pics and while talking. Not only this, it hangs alot. The phone itself is too slow and it doesn't support 4G It has network issues too. Guys I'm using this phone for 1.5 yrs. At the time of launch it was a good deal to buy that phone with superb camera for still photos and 720P videos. After updating to android 6.0 it became sluggish and battery used to drain too fast but after so many days it automatically become normal. Now battery back up has gone down. I've had it for 1 year. Currently runs Marshmallow. I have no issues with it. Works like a charm. It's not blazing fast but totally decent. Does everything I want. Display is 720p but I don't see a big difference between it and 1080p. Youtube videos look very crisp. The stereo speakers are great for watching videos and they're loud enough. Call quality is good. I haven't noticed any overheating while watching a lot of videos, browsing or playing music. I don't game so I don't know whether it will overheat while gaming.

You can also run Setup Wizard by executing the following ADB terminal: "adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardActiv­ity" and then setup your phone (it's safe option and won't wipe anything). Your notifications home button etc should be enabled after that. You will need to enable USB debugging firs (google how to do it). You could also be able to do it with some terminal app from play store

Did you update, factory reset, or flashed new rom to it? Looks like your system is working in setup mode. I'd suggest factory resetting it and going through Setup Wizard (this will wipe all data) or, if you're rooted, you can complete setup with ADB without factory reset. It looks different for Lollipop and Marshmallow - you can find instructions on XDA forum, just google "moto g minimale_ldz debloated xda" (Lollipop) or "moto g minimale_ldz identity crisis xda" and check ADB commands thet are included in first posts.

yeah u r right yesterday only I had to reset my secondary moto g2 bcoz the OS was like very heavy and almost 50% apps that I downloaded via play store was not working well apps crashes and icon changed to android green robot and apps didn't start . I will post my own experience from the upgrade from 5.0.2 to 6.0. At first I didn't notice anything bad, marshmallow has some interesting new features and I was happy playing around. The problem was with third party applications-games I used with L without any performance issues. They seemed just too heavy for M. Too much lagging. Indeed Android 6.0 binded more memory than L (about 140MB more) and this is not slight in a 1gb device (I don't know the specs but in my device this was the variance between the two OS). Moreover I used the external sd card as internal memory but some apps didn't work when placed in sd and should be placed in internal (well maybe this is not a problem as sd and internal are both used as internal but anyway what's the use of this?). Using 3rd party apps drained the battery much quicker than before. I did factory reset, waited for a couple of days for the new OS to settle but nothing changed. Overall my device didn't feel right with M and I decided to downgrade to 5.0.2 unlocking the bootloader and loosing the warranty! I don't say M is a bad OS -the opposite- but in my case it's not for this device!

Honestly u should update ur phone u will notice many ui changes and some new features and battery life has been improved but many time I notice some lags while switching btw apps.. after update to a hard reset wipe caches data / factor reset then phone will work better

After a major update it is recommended to do a hard reset / wipe cache data and factor reset that will refresh the whole operating system and battery life will improve , also if u feel ur internal storage is running out use a micro sd card or simply go to storage select internal memory and clear caches it will recover some MBs , always keep ur phone apps up to date. hope that helps

Since new i had network connection problems (celular and wifi). Took it back several times, the issue was never fixed. Later the microphone started to fail, then the touch started to fail, took it back again to be looked at, all under warranty, motorola did not honour its warranty. Even after the long history of faults witth the phone. I had a moto G gen 1 that was great, but This moto G gen 2 was a terrible purchase NEVER buying a motorola again EVER.

Hi there .... as a new user you will first find it a bit diff. to use this android smartphones but don't worry you will get use to it very soon as of now I recommend u if u are a gamer then this phone is not for u as it has limited RAM and CPU is old 32bit u can't play heavy games but u can play casual games , it can run mostly app social or communication apps like Whatsapp , facebook etc . Second Don't install unnecessary apps only use the apps u really want to use , always keep your apps up-to-date but before updating apps just read some of reviews bcoz sometime the new version crashes so be aware of that . If you updated your phone software to latest that is Android 6.0 Marshmallow then plz do a hard reset as it will refresh the whole software but backup your data first I recommend u to use a micro SD Card so that u can manage your data easily and its portable ,the battery capacity is limited 2000mah but it can last for a full working day if u are a casual user always charge ur phone fully don't discharge ur phone battery completely, charge it whenever you have time or battery is less than 15-20% the phone comes with glass protection so don't worry about scratches but don't drop it the glass might shatter , for camera u can use default camera app , turn on exposure mode for better control or u can also use google camera app camera can take some decent/good photos in outdoor and some decent shots in artificial light for data management install es file explorer , the phone can run almost all apps but not heavy apps bcoz of old hardware , call clarity is good use this phone if u find any difficulty regarding this phone post your questions and u will get a solution hope it helps goodbye

hi, I had the same problem. what you do is format the SD card as internal memory (you won't be able to use the card once ejected, but you will be able to format it at any time) and then the phone will identify a single memory and you won't have to worry about moving anything. hope it helps.

I face the same problem after update install file manger and manually go to each and every folder on sd card and search for a file like .nomedia or something like that and delete that file from all the folders. hope it helps

When you update your phone to Android 6.0. You will need to do a Cache wipe and factory reset. Restore device as new device. Do not setup up SD card as internal storage just yet. Give the system a couple of days to settle in. Make sure to update all your apps. Charge your phone to 100% then use it normally. I've noticed a big difference in performance. No heating issues when I leave my adapative brightness on. Marshmallow has bring this phone back to life. I use this more than my moto g3. I think this moto g2 is better in my opinion.

The fon getting to slow after m update. Coz new os of 6.0 takes around 325 mb RAM and when you install WhatsApp uc and 360 it gets full and hangs around.

i am user of moto g2 from january 2015 and it is working nicely. i received a message two days ago for upgradation to new android version and opted for upgradation. version was upgraded. i am facing new problem since then. i cannot hear voice calls as was used prior to upgradation. Hi try a hard reset and ur phone performance will improve and yes sometimes it lag while heavy multitasking and take sometime while opening apps and bcoz of that heavy use phone get warm a bit its normal

try a hard reset, usually most users just update phone software but don't reset . it is recommended that after a major software update like from lollipop to Marshmallow everyone should try a hard reset or reset at least midrange phones require a reset to perform better.. so I recommend every user who is facing problem after software update just try a hard reset this might help lot of users .. hope it helps.

Problem with moto g is that phone switches off in middle of conversation & when switched on again there is no trace of the call. Also when making call phone displays " call not sent" & freezes. Only way to unfreeze is to power off & start over. Very disappointed after reading good reviews of the phone.. All Motorola can say is to go to factory settings. Doesnt improve things. i would suggest u to use your int/rom memory for installing apps , if you use your sd as internal memory it will lag a bit while using apps bcz the phone has to load the apps and it data through sd card as a result your apps and ui will lag a bit. i did the same on both my moto devices with same apps installed using one with sd card class 10 as internal memory i noticed a bit lag with that device .. hope it helps and for storage u can use a otg pendrive it works fine ..

bro i recommend u to update ur device to latest Android M and try a hard reset, battery and general performance has been improved seconds its has a 2070mah battery so don't expect a great battery life.. hope it help

hi i suggest u to try a hard reset just eject ur sd card and try a hard - power off phone and press & hold volume down+ power button at same time and release after 5 seconds a menu press vol down key and select recovery option by pressing vol up key the phone will boot and u will see a black no command screen then press vol up + power at a same time this part is tricky might take sometime after that clear caches and do a factory reset and after that reboot now option .. hope it help

MotoG2 sucks... I returned it twice cause of overheat issue, still received the product with the same issue.. trust me once you will increase the brightness to 1 or 2 with 10 minutes you can use it like a heating pad... and in winters you can increase the brightness to full and keep your blanket warm. Not a good battery backup.. its being 6 months now, it hangs like it don't want to start . Don't buy the product, go for something else.

You have to clear cached memory and uninstall unwanted Apps to make your phone smooth running.. You can download third party app like clean master or you can take bellow steps... (1) Go to Settings > (2) Then go to Storage > (3) Now go to Internal Storage > (4) You can see CACHED DATA now cilk on it and make clear Cached Data.. (5) Restart your phone.

I've been using this phone for quiet some time now. There is no count of the flaws. To start with, the camera gets stuck whenever I open it in a well lit area, gives some pink flashes. Next when I get a call, it won't show on the screen, only rings. I have to push the power button off and on again so that I can see it. Can't play high graphic games :(

I owned moto g first gen. One of my friend uses 2 gen. And I currently own moto g turbo. None of the devices ever had any issues. Till date they r sturdy and going strong in terms of performance. People do not understand one fact - no device is perfect and it depends lot on how it is used. Moto has come up with decent offerings always inpast few years. One can get all round performance, of he / she is smart enough to understand how to use gadgets.

Please don't listen to the negative comments these people seem to be paid to damage Motorola's reputation.. Listen to me as an ex owner of this phone.. I used this phone for 1.5 years. I have never ever ever have had any issues with this phone.. Even after updating it to lollipop.. Until someone dropped it from 10feet in my office.. Which unfortunately broke the glass.. Hi i´m from argentina where the moto g 1st gen was one of the better low budget phones ever. Having this in mind I bought the moto g 2nd gen. But it turn out to be the worst low budget ? phone ever. And i´m not sure if low budget is a tag for this phone here. It was not as cheap as the 1st gen. The worst of the problems is the one where it gets into boot loop and you can´t turn it off. Never seen that in a phone.I´ve search the web about it and found some solution in this post: (its in spanish) but no one know what is causing this. Some people says is a software issue, but no one is sure. And the worst is that this problem is coming back every now and then (I have to restore it from scratch 5 times in a year). I thought it was the lollipop update, but i´m not sure about that either. In argentina warranties doesen´t work at all, so i´m stuck with this fu****ng phone unitl i can buy another one. No motorola for me any more.

This is the slowest phone i have ever used. It hangs a lot and applications are always crashing. Google chrome is an absolute waste as it always hangs and takes a lot of time to load pages. The battery drains very fast and does not last for more than 4 - 5 hrs of usage. The touch calibration is also very bad. I would not recommend this phone to anybody. Felt like an absolute waste of my money.

Very disappointed. This was my first touch screen cell phone. I found it too sensitive. If I hovered my finger a milli-second too long, it took me to parts unknown. The camera took decent photos, but I found trying to zoom in very difficult. Too often the phone didn't respond and I ended up with 20 pictures of my feet. The scroll down feature was equally frustrating, and I often found myself opening an app I didn't want and having to start all over again. My Moto G was recently stolen. I will not be replacing it with another Moto G.

I have been a fan of this phone since I bought it. In fact, I'm writing this review from this phone. Believe me, its possibly the best phone in its price range although add a few bucks more and you'll get moto G3, a better and worth the extra money. But I liked G2 more in terms of its body design. 1. The RAM isn't a worry as it runs stock android (which is so much better than custom UIs, also you can use nova launcher to customize it greatly). 2. I've never had issues with multitasking with 5-7 apps so processor is good. 3. The display is well, clear similar to that of an iPhone. Don't let the 294 PPI decieve you, its so vivid and crispy. 4. The rear camera is a beauty with slow motion capturing ability(download google camera app to maximize its potential and explore new features like pics with depth). The front camera is well, a bit disappointing, so if you're a selfie freak, you'll be disappointed. 5. The phone is great to hold in hand but slips sometimes so a firm grip while using it is necessary. Hope this helps. :)

Default operating system is no doubt the worst one 5.0.2, have tried so many 5.1.1 based roms & kitkat based roms, this runs awesome on kitkat based roms & marshmallow 6.0 (the one that is released for xt1069, working awesome on my xt1068), if you're not liking default operating system just change it, trust me you'll never look back at the default one ;)

Hi All, Please do not go for this MOTO G product, I have used the same MOTO G 2, initially display was broken when its fall from 2feet height, even though its Gorilla glass. then I have replaced the display paying some of 4500 from pocket, later proximity sensor is not working and went to service center and fixed somewhat, After changing the display mobile got asked to boot the system for 2 times and I have did it with one normal boot and another one erasing data with booting option. Now my mob warranty got expired and its asking for booting option(volume down key is not working), so I contacted service center and they not even check the mobile before that only they said that, if there is motherboard issue then you have pay Rs.7000/-. Finally they checked the mobile and told the same.... However I argued with customer care and finally fought with them this issue has already available when the phone under warranty, but they are not agreed and they disconnected my phone for 3 times. I checked with my friends circle and they told the same, this mobile is having the same issue..... I requesting you all that, please do not buy this product and waste your money.

Moto G2 Support - Worst support ever. I had issues with phone's charging port and it wouldn't charge. Support centre tried to troubleshoot and when they couldn't, asked me to get it replcaed. When I calledsuppport centre again for replacement procedure, they just refused to tell that, disconnected chats and said phone cant be replaced. They refused to provide any information. Very bad experience, its been just few months since I had the phone.

Thanx for the tip about boot & root. No one on any of the forums has mentioned this, but Moto do get you to sign your life away when you ask for the unlock code. From what I've seen, the rooting scene is very amateur & potluck. They need a computer to cover their backs all the time. You can unlock bootloader and root it, but do not try to flash any ROM. During flashing, radio (GSM, UMTS) and GPS receiver will be burned out (it seems motorola bad trick). FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth still work normally, but no cell signal and no GPS. I already have this soft-brick. And do not waist time to call motorola customer support, unless you like rude attitude.

It is best to use an sd card it will not mess up phone it helps to put everything on your sd card that will move from phone to it a lot of apps are able to be moved to sd card and it will save phone space. just make sure that if you remove card go to settings and unmount card it will say so all store on it will not get lost. best to read up on sd cards to no how 2 use. get the card thats says 10 grade or something like that. I love my phine!! But have not been able to get myself ready to go into the lollipop it just keeps telling me ready but I just cannot change over yet.

I wish these reviewers would also do a long-term review for smartphones after 3 or 4 months.The software update is also Very slow. The battery goes down like crazy. I've had troubles basically when I tried to do anything and when I wasn't even touching it, it would shut down and restart 3 times in a row by itself. I wouldn't recommend this phone to my grandma.

Yes device is fantastic. Snappy and really love the stock android interface. However like others here, 3G and even 2G signal comes and go every now and then. Battery life is not great. With WiFi on but airplane mode on, my SOT sits at 4h 22 mins. With Wi-Fi + Network connection On (data off), screen on time drops to 3h+. Hoping the Marshmallow update will fix these problems.

The memory is also very bad. If you want i high quality phone that can process little things, this is the phone for you. Type on your keypad *#*#4636#*#* and then select WCDMA ONLY in network mode setting in phone information menu. You cannot get 3g connectivity bcoz moto g2 dont have 3g only setting its 3g mode means auto mode. Do setting as I say your problem will fix 100% after younot need 3g connection then you can also change it from your default network setting

This is a useless phone. I have purchased it in Dec 2014. It is with the Service Centre for more than two months. The Service Centre at Ernakulam is hopeless. They never lift the telephone. We have to visit them for knowing whether the work is completed or note. One will get the phone repaired only after visiting them for 5 to 10 times! Great Phone and Great Customer Service!!

Hello Afrer updateing to 5.0.2 the battery last for one day maby...but two days ago (i don't know mayby some update?... google+ card change wiev so...) it starting work 2 days! I have dual sim wersion. always: BT on, WiFi on, GPS off, i have private and work number, i call 2-3h daily in work, have MS exchange account and 2 gmails accounts in sinchronizing... I only turn off google card that appears from update to lollipop. This is wery god phone! Don't write "its crap"... Wel done Motorola! Keep going! :)

Are the bulk of these reviews written by apple fanboys??! Bought my motoG in late 2013. Its fast and works flawless. I get 3 days out of my battery. I bought a simple rubber case for it and have dropped the phone several times,even threw it at the cat once,never glitched or cracked. In 2014 I bought my wife the same phone..no problems at all with that one either. She gets 3-4 days per charge still. For the price you can NOT beat this phone. I have had a couple Samsung phones too, Ace 2x and galaxy S3. This phone is a tank compared to them. Camera isn't so hot but I have a cannon SX35 for that stuff.

THIS IS A PATHETIC PHONE. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. After reading a lot of reviews online I decided to buy this phone from Flipkart. The first month it was more or less OK. Battery was draining kinda fast but I was aware of this so did not pay much heed to this. After around 5 weeks my phone started lagging terribly. Opening any app takes around 4-6 secs which is unacceptable. The keypad lags a lot and can drive you shit crazy. Coming to the other problems, music stops playing while browsing. Tried installing clean master, cleaning the cache, rebooting.. Nothing helped. Today morning woke up to find that I can't hear anything while calling someone. I'm done..throwing it in the trash right now.

To all those facing battery issues after screen is off or sleep mode.. Use an app booster which frees your phone's memory and RAM after you are done working.. It truly helps. The battery just drops by 3-4% even if kept overnight. Unlike early days when it went down by 10-20%.

This is really the dumbest mobile I have come across. This mobile has signal problem with Airtel network the country's largest network. Some times it will not show 1st sim on notification tray. It will display only 2nd sim. Next this has worst battery life. Charging with the given charger only it takes 3 hrs and it discharges in 6 to 7 hours and when it is 100% charged and I remove the charger with in a few minutes it goes to 96% for nothing. It has a display issue like it gives a dark pink tint on the screen. I bought this Mobile in December 2014 and it came with 4.4.4 KitKat and my friend has bought after a 3 months it came preinstalled with 5.0.2 and both the mobiles are having many differences. While I set the maximum brightness in both the mobiles my mobile gave a dark pink tint and his mobile is pure white. And next OMG this Mobile us very slow in app launch with default launcher and with 3rd party launchers it is just OK. Some toggles automatically disappear. For me Bluetooth always disappears and I have to enable it in settings and the reboot the mobile to get toggle and notification tray strucks while dragging it will not display brightness bar and itself goesup and I have to redrag again. Signal reception is really THE WORST issue and I sold Grand 2 for 6000 to buy this SHIT and I am going to sell away this. Please don't take this review as Hater's review. I had used this Mobile from 7 months and these are the problems I have experienced. Lenovo mobiles are far better than this. I have done factory reset many times and after a week same story repeat. Will definitely sell this Mobile

Speaker problem is very common with motorolla. I faced same problem with moto g, both my wife and me are suffering with motorolla.

Moto g2 was working well for the past 8 months but suddenly one day i was not able to listen anything during the call. But when i restart the phone , it work well again. This happens again and again. Moto g2 is a good phone. I got 5.0.2 out of the box which I though would be amazing but then after few days I disliked it. The white background and the white dock was very frustrating and I also didn't like the apps opening from downwards and closing in the same way. Overall the phone was laggy with lollipop but then I installed Nova launcher and then I optimised it in kitkat style and now my phone works smoothly. Camera is very good at this price range especially the front camera. The phone doesn't heats up but sometimes gets warm. I would say that I am not satisfied with the battery life but I would recommend you all to download DU Battery saver and Greenify app. These apps are not so much effective but you will see a change in your battery life. Overall a good phone at this price range. Been using it since 3 months and I am happy with it. Those who are facing lagging issues ...I will suggest you to download nova launcher . Sorry for my bad english... :p

I bought phone 2 weeks back and I felt wrong buying this phone ..its worst I ever had as it has issue related to call volume and most of the time voice is not clear.. I tried to connect care centre and had worst experience ever had .. Battery backup is also pretty much poor.. Its two weeks still care centre not giving replacements for there quality issue .I am fed up off following there technical steps

Hi Sir I am using Motorola motog2 last 1 year , this mobile one of the best mobile my life , but some problems not done one complaint is 1.(Unfortunately , Google search has stopped.) And 2 is I using Internet somesounds comings in speekars in top speekar, 3 rd one complaint internet browsing display highly heeting.

This phone is wonderfull ! The internet works perfectly. Is really fast. System is fast at all except when you use many applictions in background. Battery life is great. It stays up to 4 days when used normally. Camera is clear, but hard to take pictures when using flash. I think 8GB storage is enough. Some other smartphones has great sensors or applications themselfs, but in here you can install it and have same pleasure for lower price. Quality of display is high enough. I would never exchange it for samsung or Iphone etc, even if the only reason why will be that you can update system and download every app without problems ! :)

Moto g2 - about 6 months of use and the camera fails to start. Their service center - B2X - kept it for a week. Problem recurred within a day after bringing it back.

When I bought moto g I thought good but on usages problem of freezing touch screen jams, apps self loading, updating auto without knowledge makes a sr citizen out of race,so simple phone with less features is good, third generation 4 gen r not for general user so introduce simple user friendly

Sir, the system is very slow and hangs up very often. I am using dual sim. When dailer hangs up we have to restart. It may be a general problem are with my phone only. .. Hope u rectify it. Regards

Go to developer options and set the transition animation scale from x1.0 to x0.5. This will increase the speed of the phone and the phone will not hang..... :D

I bought this phone for my wife in december of 2014. This phone does NOT have enough RAM to run the newest applications. It will freeze and lag when you try and do normal phone functions and my wife does not even attempt to play any games. I do NOT recommend this phone at all. Please do yourself a favor and get a phone with at least 2GB of RAM (or more) if you want to stay sane. Just my two cents.

I had a samsung galaxy grand for about 2 years, faced a lot of problems, with the phone lagging, crappy UI, it would take 10 seconds to open any app. Got moto g2 about 2 weeks back, works like a breeze.The interface is smooth, apps open quickly, the snapdragon chipset does its job well.The stock version of android is amazing,gives you more flexibility and with its fluidic UI,is infinitely better than the tweaked android on galaxy grand with the annoying samsung skin. Moto g2 is a steal at this price(10000 ₹).The drawbacks being poor battery life,and the phone heating a little.No lagging issues whatsoever, as of now, as mentioned in other comments, should wait and see.

Don't buy Moto g2 16 gb internal mobile, Initially it works fine but after 6 months problem will start. it won't support the external memory card. why i'm saying because last month i brought samsung memory card and automatically one day it's saying unsupported file. and memory card got corrupted even though i couldn't understand reason i called customer care they mostly telling about the memory card not the moto mobile. please i suggest don;t buy these kind of waste mobile u will be wasting u r money .... coming to II reason Network it's worst in network ( loose signal). speed also very slow as compare with other mobiles. except camera every thing is waste...

I have been using moto g2 since one month and its the worst phone.It lags and heats up and apps crash frequently. It gets stuck when call arrive and unable to pick up sometime. Battery gives 8 hrs of mixed usage.Speaker sound in call is not clear in call overall buy micromax or Samsung instead of motog2

Too much problem .It hangs like ,we can't swipe the screen to get unlocking pattern screen even. if by the luck you see the pattern screen ,you will not be able to swipe or not able to make pattern to unlock the mobile. sometimes it behaves like it is not a touch screen mobile. (touch senses are not present).
