Motorola MOTOFONE F3 - User Reviews

  • How I can buy this mobile

  • Alphanumeric display, it has no pixels or resolution. Like on a digital watch or a calculator, for example.

  • Im still using this phone since 2006... and works very well... thanks to motorola

  • Screen resolution?

  • If i remember it was the only featuresless smartphone in this planet phone. No internal memory Sim memory worked as the phone memory. No message forwarding 30 contact and 8 message was it's full capacity.

  • Nice

  • This phone is the pioneer of the infamous notch which is so popular among snartphones nowadays. Moto always one step ahead.

  • Yes

  • You are only person that you told about this mobiles amazing feautres, me too also enjoyed this mobiles feautres for 1 week, I bought this for 1800 and sold it for 1200 this amount itself great escape for me.

  • i loved this phone... i can even buy it if its still on market

  • My best-ever phone. Had expensive smartphones [Sony, Apple, etc] but HATE complexity & cluttered home screens with hundreds of mostly useless apps. Don't like touchscreens. This is the ONLY phone ever sold that has the electronic ink screen- limited, yes BUT- the ONLY one readable in the brightest sunlight. Largest text for the short-sighted. I threw mine away and regret that choice- now I want to get another. If anyone has it in v. good condition, with charger, please contact me. [email protected]

  • TEST

  • nc phone

  • On eBay.com it is available.

  • required urgently motorola f3 mobile can anyone suggest where should i purchase this mobile

  • I use this phone as a wake up alarm. I like that the ink screen continuously displays the hour - it doesn't turn off, the hour is shown at any moment without touching any button. That's cool and it doesn't consume energy to keep the display on all the time because of the ink display type. As for a cell phone, the only usage was to make calls because texting was too complicated.

  • Help, please! There is one of these phones in my house, was not used in 4 years. I buy a new SIM card and the phone worked 20 days, this morning I was adding my own number to the directory, the directory symbol was not working so i pressed a lot the red button to try again, after that the "x error symbol" has appeared and now I can't receive calls or make calls, I have tried everything, reset, the codes of the manual. And nothing has worked, there is no signal in this phone. It recognizes the SIM card, I can see my phone numbers. Any ideas? I'm thinking of destroying this thing with a hammer.

  • Check eBay for 30 USD new

  • i have this phone and it is an awesome phone ever

  • I have a Motorola F3

  • It is what it is.If you want an all bells and whistles phone then this one is not for you. It makes calls, receives calls, takes voice mail messages, allows text messaging, has a phone book. That's all folks. But,hey if that's all you want, then this is a great little phone. Its not pretentious.

  • There are lot of F3's for sale on online auctions. I found one for the replacement of the one I dropped accidentally in sea. Unfortunately, the one I had was equipped with Scandinavian languages and probably would never find a one with those. English is available on all, so that is just a minor matter.

  • Haha, I still have one in a box, only used it a couple of times to try it. Once it picked up a signal in the middle of a forest where everyone else was cut off. Got it as a present. Keeping it in case of a war. :-D

  • How Much Time(Hours) Would The Battery Needs To Be Charged Completely(Fully Charged)?

  • How do I change the language from spainish to lnglish

  • I pulled this phone from the bottom of a box of gear that I've had for years. The apps I downloaded send all kinds about me of stuff to people I don't know. Gov't is bad enough but at least w/this phone only the phone co. and the gov't OVERTLY have my information. Plus, the battery lasts forever, it's light as a feather, it picks up a signal in the middle of nowhere, it sends and receives texts but I CAN'T text and drive, which is a great thing. And I figured out how to send and receive emails with it. TELLME is good as Google, my voicemail is my voice memo app, and with AudioNow, I can hear radio on my phone. I'm good.

  • Now where is the guy who ask 4 jelly bean update... :-P

  • MOTOFONE F3 Features: You can make a call and people can answer it :) You can also recieve Calls :) When someone call you the phone rings :) :) :) It has an external LCD Display that shows you the current date, time and baterry status. it has buttons with printed numbers for dialing any number you want It has a battery so you can carry it wireless :) slim desing that lets you to carry it in your pocket the baterry is rechargable!!! :D you can plug it into a baterry charger and charge it :)

  • Where i can buy this Motorola f3

  • You have read some positive reviews well here's the other side: If I had to describe it in one sentence: Beauty with no brains.Sure it looks gorgeous but that's pretty much it! Let me explain. I my eyes there are 3 classes of mobile phones based on intelligence or features if you will. 1. The Monochromes:These are phones that usually have black and white screens and have limited features when it comes to customizability. You can't add apps or add more features and are typically very cheap, although they have a few dedicated features like stopwatch, calculator etc.. 2. Feature Phones: Usually have color screens and can access the Internet and install small usually Java apps and games. You can also add ringtones and more rather easily. 3. Smart Phones: Virtually computers in their own right but have their own problems and limitations. Guess which one the Motofone falls under? Answer: None of them. That's right it doesn't even fall under monochromes! The list of features is less than impressive: Making calls Sending text messages (limited to 2 lines on screen!) Alarm Address book Loudspeaker That's all folks! (seriously) Although this phone was meant for developing countries its extremely bare bones feature set was not very appealing at all. Interface:What interface, it looks like an oversized digital watch! You have to enter codes to perform certain activities (list on wikipedia) I so liked the idea of this phone. You see it was one of the first to have an electrophoretic display which is basically electronic-ink and used very little power to run the display and virtually none if the display didn't change. But the interface was clunky and I almost had more fun navigating a calculator than this phone! People are admiring the long battery life and the almost indestructibility of the phone but I can't mirror their enthusiasm as I never had the phone long enough to do so. I had moved rather swiftly to a Nokia 1110i at the time because for one I want more features than a digital watch and 2 I want to access them in an intuitive and hassle free way.

  • DUDE ....! i got this mobile frm my friend in a exchange to NOKIA COLOUR HANDSET . it's a dammn awesome handset i had used for 3 years , but love the handset like hell , but the prob that am facing with this mob is my display light is very low mean icnt operate or i cant see my display aftr 7pm , is the phone created with low backlight (display) or it got damage ! if it got damaged pls let me know how i can repair it & batrylife also troubling me pls let me know how can i get this mobile into condition without any prob

  • it supports . (dot) event though it displays it as - (dash). Good phone. good sound clarity.

  • 800

  • This was the first handset I used in my life. My parents gifted me for having 2nd position in 5th class. I love this phone a lot. Really it's an awesome handset.

  • Is there available in the market now, let me know if it is available thanks

  • Wonder what F3 stands for. Bought a piece in Nov 07 in Delhi,India. El Cheap!!! That is about it? Good phone for the financially challenged, though.Pros: Good sound quality, excellent reception and loudspeaker. Tough phone for everyday use. Clear reception. Superb battery life. Smart looks... Bomb proof. Hammer proof. Cons: Horrific LED display. Texting? what texting. VERY Rudimentary. Some mid range phones of the 90s had more features. Hard to read the missed call list. Hard to read sms received. Can be dangerous if used for serious purposes, where you need to read texts and know who called. GREAT PHONE FOR TALKING ONLY! NO TEXTING. EXCELLENT ACOUSTICS.

  • Superb phone. I don't text, and if I want to go online, I use a computer, notebook, or tablet. This is a phone, and almost nothing else. But as a phone, it excels! Light and compact, it fits in my pants pocket so well that I forget it's there. If Motorola or a competitor ever decides to make this sort of no-frills phone again, some effort should be made to actually market it. I don't think Motorola even tried to sell it in the US.

  • can't, it's an epaper screen, kind of like LED but in a modern battery saving way.

  • Love this phone. This phone is worth every penny. It is sad that Motorola discontinued it. The phone's shell is very tough and u can rough use it. It has also got speaker phone which is very good. You can see the display screen on heavy sun light. The battery is also good 800mah. Hopefully Motorola should introduce it again...

  • Excellent phone. The cheapest on the market. This is only a phone with an alarm and phone book. But as a phone is light, slim, excellent sound and reception and pleasant design. Not for texting or anything else. Talking only. No other phone comes closer.

  • how to change font size ??

  • it has a very good battery timing bt it is nt a regular fone so u should nt use it

  • Bought the F3 in 2007. I love Motorola and use an L6i Great phone. But the F3 is lousy. Very basic with hardly any features. Unless you are a destitute or broke, dont buy the F3. pPay a little extra for a regular Motorola phone. Thankfully the F3 isnt available anymore.

  • Had one of these in the past. I agree with all previous posts. It has a very clear sound and the battery lasts a lot without recharging. Of course, it is a very basic phone also. You can use it comfortably as a telephone and as a clock. For SMSs, although it can do it, the screen makes it very difficult, since it is suited to show almost only numbers.

  • Excellent sound...nice and good phone.

  • F3 phone is good

  • Today my sony ericsson phone died and I'm using my f3 again after 2 years., lovely phone, loud and clear sound

  • Great as a basic phone tells the time and can be used for texting at a pinch. but several quirks - missing the date display (you can only get to see it where you set it!) as others have pointed out, once you type your SMS message and send it, it's lost - not kept, and you can't SMS more than 1 person with the same message (unless you type it all in again!) No t9 Motorola have a means of tailoring the phone with different language voices and ringtones, but it seems there's no hacks for us to change them ourselves! you can't edit contact details - you have to renter them, if you get it wrong. you can't change the alarm or sms ringtone (is there one? it's too quiet). SMS punctuation is limited to -,?@| - no dot.

  • I just began using this cel as 2nd phone, but I really don't know which are it's cappabilities. Is there anyone who knows where can I get the manual to see the functions? Thks Alice

  • if any one sale it plzzzzzzzzzz contact to me at 0333-5616808 plz i realy like that.......

  • I just got the motofone f3 and I love it but the home screen displays different 5 digit numbers. When I first turn it on it will display my carrier but it always goes back to this weird five digit number. Does anyone know how to change it to carrier or write something in that space.

  • the best cellphone ever! i've used it more than 2 yr, and it still works good. amazing built quality :)

  • Rob, the screen flashes because it uses e-ink rather than an LCD display. E-ink displays suffer from ghosting sometimes so to prevent this the screen will sometimes be flashed to clear the last image on screen before a new image is displayed, this ensures the "pixels" are reset to the correct default colour.

  • I had this phone for two years and five months and for that cheap price, was this a very great phone. It is very robust, it felt me down many times, i get it under water and was still working without problems. But it is not good for sending sms messages.

  • Can someone tell me why the face flashes on and off ? Does it have anything to do with battery?

  • The manuals are available at the Motofone F3 support website:

  • I used my F3 almost 3 years now. It's an excellent phone. It fell on the flour countless of times, and it still looks pretty much as in the first week. it's sound quality is very good, and it's a wonder of simplicity. I really think this is the Volkswagen beetle of mobile phones. If I'll manage to find a new battery I am pretty sure that it will work fine for another 2-3 years.

  • i got it 2 days ago hardly, in iran. its used but its good. its wonderfull and beutiful,, i love it also masseging is awfull.

  • I had this phone before it fell from my pocket in bus. Well i loved it, although messaging was nightmare, it was stylish and felt great in hands.

  • Yes it does! I got one as a present last week, new, never used, and it will be my spare phone. It's so basic but awesome just because of that, I have to smile every time I see it. Like an anti-phone for when I am sick of technology. Great design, great sound in the headphone and great signal reception. And looks tough!

  • I purchased this fone in ebay two days back. Its wonderfull n worth for the budget. It is a phone which serves the basic needs. Motofone rcks!!!!!!!

  • Hello..my F3 is not charging while i plugged it..the battery indicator is not blinking at all..there's only a green light lighting near the * button and the fone is not switching on!!! Please some1 suggest me what to do its like this since 1 week!!thnx

  • MOTO please rerelease this phone, minus segment reading........pleasssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

  • Mine was staying charged for 3 days at a time. But now it usually dies before I leave the office. HORRIBLE BATTERY LIFE!!!

  • had this phone for about a month, great phone really basic but does the job!brilliant battery life, really thin and light.screen easy to see inside or outside.recommended!

  • i simply love it ! it`s doing what is supposed to do : communication

  • Very true my friend... I'm never going to sell this fone... Though I use High End fones as primary Regards: Abhi

  • This phone is rubbish

  • I used to have that it has voice help and only call and text you can do and sound i like the fourth one

  • I Love this phone one my favs. Slim, durable and does whats its supposed to do. and above that you dont have to worry about loosing it, its like disposeable cuz its so cheap :)..

  • Excellent phone! This is a real phone and does what it suppose to do : CALLING! Very good sound quality, excellent screen and battery life!

  • Hi F3 Fan! Reset it by ***000*

  • My colleagues Milena and Adam love this phone and cuddle it while they are sleeping. They have finally convinced me to buy a F3 myself. We have names for our F3s.

  • I ruined my computer, I tried to connect it to download win 7 on it, it exploded into flames.

  • why my F3 is not working properly ? does anybody know how to reset the phone?? help please

  • Need service center of F3

  • I want to servicing of my motofone f3 2 phones .How it possible ?The phone is best that I ever used in simple category,it sound quality in handsfree mode much better than by Imate windows mobile

  • hey friends want to sell my moto f3..rarely used for 4-5days....condition like new...no scratches.....for just rs 700...price is negotiable..call me on 9222146712 if ur intersted

  • Never seen a stupid phone like this!!! I have tested one!!! I like more the nokia 3310 than this crap!!!

  • Same problem. It seems to me it's just broken. I don't know where to send it to get fixed. No warranty. But, I just may try another.

  • this christmas 09 i got my dad this phone to better his beat up broken one the only thing better is that its slim it doesnt even hold more missed coming and going calls and how disappointed was he when he went from beat up czamera phone with zoom to no camera at all no wonder its so cheap

  • a great phone with great software, beats the iphone any day!

  • In 20 years time when design museums start curating exhibitions of great mobile phone of the past, I like to think the F3 will be among them. A great phone for what it's supposed to do...like you know...for talking to people... Actually the display for reading txt's is not too bad either once you get used to it. It features innovative display technology (electronic paper), good battery life, very smart profile, and a low price. I've often had admiring comments from friends who (unaware of its design philosophy) think it is an expensive top-of-the-range phone because of its remarkable slimness. Credit must go to its designers too who purposefully designed a desirable gadget specifically for the developing world market.

  • Nonsense about the battery life. It says up to 300 hrs standby = 12 days. I wish. The true figure = 5 to 6 days on numerous tests.

  • Great phone for anybody who have cellphone for calling, and mp3 player for listen music. Small battery, quick charging time, long calling time, simple great phone for business. When it break, just buy another, they are cheap as water =], love it.

  • Just put it in a condom and you have a totally waterproof phone :D

  • And you check what alphanumeric actually means!

  • It also does have speaker phone capability.

  • Has anyone had the problem with the signal and battery indicators fading and or not staying black and actually showing up the way they should? I am thinking of replacing the F3 I have with a new one, I still love this fone just not the one I got. Would live to get some feedback from other users.

  • To the editors of this page: The display is actualy a type of electronic paper. That's what Wikipedia says. Sort of like the future electronic newspapers. Chech it out on wikiipedia and edit this page, it's not alphanumeric, it's electronic paper, quite special!

  • am finally gettin rid of this phone : D 2moro im gettin the w595! gudbye motofone hello walkman phone! this is the last time im EVER going 2 post something about the motofone! c ya ppl! ; D

  • This Phone was the best thing that happened to me during my europe trip. Texts are hard to read however it is a perfect handy phone for incoming and out going calls. Alarm works great and Catchy ringtones go along with it!

  • What a fail, if Motorola keep coming up with crap like this they're prety much doomed in the mobile phone business

  • Great concept but what on earth were they thinking when they put that horrible alphanumeric display on it, ruined the whole thing, why couldn't they just put a plain old dot matrix LCD?

  • LOL lots of No's in this phone's description

  • there is a speakerphone on this model hope this hels its a very stylish simple no nonsense phone with voice guidance for navigation suits the elderly and visually impaired brilliantly great little phone for cals and texting and nothing else the screen is high contast but easy to read

  • This little phone, is light and cheap, but very stylish looking. It is a basic phone, for making and receiving calls. You can receive texts and send texts but the display is difficult to read, and there is an alarm. The thing is, this is a basic model,, and for the money? It's great. Loud ring, ideal for using as a home phone, for when all FIVE people in the house have; run out of battery; lost their phone; put it on silent and forgotten where it is; lent it to someone etc etc, and all you want to do is speak to someone at home!!! Also great for taking on holiday/to festivals, it's so cheap it won't make you cry when it gets lost/stolen/wet or stamped on. If you google for the info codes you can bar calling to anything but the address book ;-) This is the user manual for you that have lost it. for changing the ringtone, setting the alarm and how to change all settings. All the people here complaining about it's lack of features, well, it actually has the features, but if you want the display to be better/more modern, buy a more expensive phone ;-) We love outr little motorola f3

  • here is the user manual. It helps!

  • I bought it 2 years ago.works great.lovely phone

  • the best fone ever made better than any fones out ther better then n97 and i phone i love this fone with all my heart i love u moto hello.

  • really fantastic with amazin features

  • I have one this type of F3 Moto Mobile. Frequently it is going to vibration mode. No ring tone. I am facing prob when I am away at work leaving cell at distant place.I could not change mode to ringtone. I lost operating manual.messaging could not be done. Model details: Motofone F3, MC3 41J11, IMEI:353293010183071; MSN:F59QGX2FXX; Made in India Pl do let me resolve the above problem. email: [email protected] With regards KOTESWARA RAO

  • i really hate this phone!!!!!! having this phone is like having a landline ( a house phone) motorola phones have HORIBLE graphics !!!!!! go 4 a sony ericsson or nokia!!!!! and yes this phone can b used as a sandwich ; )

  • lol...at Tu3k

  • nokia 1680 is crap..motorola w230 rules!

  • could this be used as a sandwich?

  • best fone on the market!! only dislike is the interface.. other than that its the perfect phone 4 me. love the simplicity, durability and quality (if the the "made in brazil" version. thank you motorola!

  • Just think about you want to give a phone for your parents, who wants to reach you to contact. They want a simplest phone where they can dial a number. How many times you have tried to explain the blah, blah features a phone has got. They just want to listen to their son's or daughter's voice

  • I just love this phone. I bought Motofone F3c (CDMA Version) in Bangalore, India for just INR 600. This phone my entire communication needs. I am always reachable on my number........

  • Seriously, this must be the WORST cell phone I've ever put my hands on. Cryptic display, poor call quality, weak battery, no memory, and it takes a awful lot of time searching for available networks when in the move. So... why can this be considered a cell phone at all?? Ok, it looks good, but my old and trusty Nokia 2600 from 2002 puts this thing to shame.

  • :)

  • I think fred flintstones cell phone had more features than this.

  • I was crazy the first time i got this fone but now am sooooooooooo over it check out the sony ericsson w980 am getting it soon!!!! it ROX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just click on this link:http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w980-2249.php

  • No, as soon as I turn the phone on the battery indicator shows the level of charge and then disappears. The signal indicator will come and go as the signal changes. If I have it in my pocket and take it out, it recieves a stronger signal and shows just the change in bars. The battery indicator obviously doesn't come back because it's level doesn't change. Niether stay black as a static mode, they fall off to gray. I'm guessing it's an internal or screen problem. The battery life has also started to fall off, it only holds a charge for 2-3 days. Very disappointing, I truely loved the form factor and simplicity of this fone, but, the frustsration and issues have left me looking for a replacement. Perhaps a Nokia 1680 or a Moto W233 DSchwiz :(

  • call me 646 717 1221.. for any questions... LOL

  • This phone has speakerphone. Also has voice menu.

  • check out ebay...thats where i got mine.

  • HELP!!! I know it is 2009, but can anybody tell me where can i buy this hp in Singapore? tHANKS

  • the signal bar gets low but all you have to do is to start the phone again

  • yeah its the other way around aboute the bars on motorola f3

  • vice versa-information earlier..sorry

  • the battery bar fades away sometimes or get shorter but if you restart the phone its okay again. aboute the signal bar you could be out of reach of the net.

  • Just wundering is anyone else having this display issue; battery and signal indicators fading or going away? Only two of us mention it, maybe we just got bad fones.

  • me too on the battery and signal indicators graying out, tried a new battery with no luck. Really disapointing, I love this fone. The rest of the display is fine, don't understand it.

  • phone is crap. dont buy it. if anyone has it, i feel sorry for u.

  • motorola knows how to make good cell-phones. a basic phone. only one minus..it takes five hours to load the battery here in europe.

  • Superb phone! Texting works fine once you get used to it. Ok, letters could be better, but anyway it's a great device.

  • It is the revolutionary display that offers you amazing visibility in direct sunlight, from any angle. The backlight is merely an afterthought, just two or three LEDs positioned on the borders of the screen. However, the backlight is rarely needed. I have viewed my F3's display in candle light and dim moonlight and been able to read it perfectly clearly.

  • Shortly: Cheap and odd I was looking for a simple and reliable "just a phone" (price does not matter). What I like: - you can see time in almost any light conditions - strong body - light - good charger connector - not bad battery life Don't like: - after 3-4 month battery and signal level indicators become gray - after some jumps between towers, phone become unusable without rebooting it. You have to reboot it once a week. - strange and unclear interface - it is not simple, it is cheap and odd. Motorola can't make any simple phones any more. - can't edit phone book. - rings once more (in your hear) a second after you push "talk" button. Phones I own before: - Ericsson DH318 (like it) - Vtech A700 - Motorola v60 (like it) - Motorola V65p - Motorola StarTAC 7868 (like it) - Motorola Mike i880 (like it) - Motorola L6 - Motorola F3

  • Hey, i've heard about its backlight which also works fine even in sharp sunlight, is it true?

  • does anyone know how to activate the backlight?

  • Has very loud speaker, above average battery life, interesting screen and that s it. Typing SMS is not really a problem, once get used to it.

  • yah! yah! yah! all i can say about this fone is.....? nothing.... hehehehe.... u must buy this fone co'z once u have it, ur like one of my fans, Totoy Coh Mayutganun y Salsalagi...

  • To change language press ***520*^(left top button) then select 3.

  • poor functions, good for kids only

  • I needed a cheap replacement for a lost Razor phone. I got my Motofone F3 on-line for $30 delivered! Once I was over the emotional baggage of owning a phone that has NO features (except~geez~making calls); I found its uber slim design and simplicity refreshing!

  • I bought a Motorola MOTOFONE F3. How can I determine it's network coverage?

  • Anyone know how to get a '.' into a message? trying to send email via an sms gateway and have the @ but not the .

  • Lately my F3 has been losing clarity in the signal and battery indicators, kind of washed out looking. They will start out fine when I turn it on but as it's on for a while they go dim and eventually I can't see the bars at all. I have to power cycle to get them back. Anyone having the same problem or does anyone have a solution?

  • Push up on the main directional pad, this will change the ring volume. The up/down control the ring volume, all the way up is vib and ring, all the way down is just vib.

  • Chic looking phone, simple and realible. The best phone under $50.

  • My daughter changed the ring tone to vibrate , I tried to change it back , now can't get either . Any ideas anyone

  • can the F3 be used with a cellphone strap or charm?

  • sound quality is the bestest in all my phones ,,,for other very poor..,i cant write sms easily..

  • Wikipedia lists a number of codes to change settings including the language setting.

  • Hey. Does anyone know how to change the language? I bought mine off the internet and it came in spanish. Does anyone know how to change it to english.

  • This is a good phone for anybody who has a paper phonebook and look up numbers manually, the display is painfully difficult to read, the phonebook is harder to use, this is a very simple phone, no bells no whistles,The good thing is the earpiece sound , very nice, When they can get a display that is more legible I would use this phone. please work it out

  • I completely agree. Thats all what a mobile requires (Calling & messaging).

  • it's a good phone.the battery and the voice quality makes the difference.and it's not exxpensive

  • Display & Interface Very poor . A "professional" without games and accessories.

  • only had it a couple of daze...3.99 at cash converter...ain't it great....pig of an operating system and takes a bit of getting used to after using the all singing all dancing phones now on the market...keep it simple...will snap up any i see...

  • gfffff

  • This phone certainly looks expensive. But the battery is poor. Also most of the times it shows no sim. But i agree that the voice quality is too good.

  • love this set only for its quality sound.

  • I LOVE THE F3!! Best mobile I have ever had... Superb sound quality, incredible battery life and probably the most robust phone you can buy. ps. I am not old, blind or technologically retarded.

  • Is there any way that the text size can be changed? It is hard to preview text messages.

  • very good phone, talk of attenuation and sound quality.the best

  • Garbage, junk, trash. This phone is terrible. First, it was not advertised as being a bottom of the line cell phone, so I guess that is my fault for not doing my homework. I have had this phone less than a week and already the screen is bleeding numbers through. There are no features, simple features like a calender! Nothing, just a phone. Pros:cheap$ Cons:cheap

  • Unfortunately it is not permanent. Perhaps if this phone ever gets an upgrade this feature will be most welcome.

  • No, you cant.

  • Just one line for the 7-segment text. You use the right arrow for read the complete sms.

  • 30 dollars in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  • No, when you are in the time configuration, final confirmation of settings is this screen.

  • Its a very slim cellfone. Is amazing for call only, the speaker works fine. Over the hill: screen. this can see from any angle. Its great for old men or boys. 100% recommended

  • Only one line and big letters. Hard to preview message.

  • That's not possible. The screenshots you see displaying the date and time simultaneously are not available on the F3.

  • how is the text messaging on it?

  • anyone know how to display date under time?

  • This phone is so anti-tech it's the best. I use my computer for e-mail now, my digital camera to take pictures, and my phone...as a phone, wow. i have had phones with all that stuff, i get bored with it easily. $35 with tax in Miami

  • I got this phone as something to make phone calls on while my real phone has to head into the shop. It does that, and that's all. This isn't necissarily a bad thing, because the Reception is amazing, and it's as small and long lived as people say. The Minimalist in me loves the design, but I can't say I'm going to miss it when I can use my Phone/Computer/Camera again. ^.^ (Really though, for the price, if you just literally want something that makes phone calls, no more special than a Land Line you happen to be carrying around, this phone will do that well. ;P )

  • anyone know how to display date under time?

  • Push the up arro, the volume thing will come up and you just need to click left or right. If its on vibrate, you need to click to the right a few times to actually turn the volume on.

  • push the up arrow, the volume thing will come up and you just click left or right. if its on vibrate you need to click to the right a few times to actually turn the volume on.

  • I need help!! My elderly student asked me how to stop vibrating and move to sound. I have tried everything!! Nothing works, if you know how to move this phone out of vibrating mode, please let me know. thank you on behalf of an elderly lady.

  • foda!!!!!!pra cego

  • I got my F3 last week and so far I love it! I totally don't miss the all useless stuff that most phones have to have to sell here in the US. It's truely a shame that we don't see more phones like this. I love the fact that it holds a charge so long and call quality and reception are excellent. I really don't see the use in texting and don't use it often. Most cameras in phones are a joke and I'm at my computer most of the day to surf and get emails. This is the perfect FONE for me and for anyone who wants just a FONE to make and receive calls. Simply beautiful, well done Motorola, now add call waiting capability and make one for CDMA networks and it would be perfect.

  • How to change manually Motofone F3 GSM frequency ?

  • The only thing that gets on my nerves is not being able to delete the call history. Other than that this phone is not bad at all.

  • The audio quality is far superior than most phones on the market. Calls are very clear. Very very slim 7 mm is about the same thickness as 6 credit cards stacked. Even after one years use, I only charge my battery once every 5-7 days. The display can be read in broad daylight or dark night.

  • I have been checking out this phone and haven't seen anything in specs or discussion about caller i.d. Will it display the name from phonebook, the number, either or both for incoming calls? Also wandering how it shows up from an outbound call? Haven't seen anything in specs or advanced codes regarding caller i.d. at all. IMHO - I think this is a great PHONE, stylish and simple, a PHONE or FONE I guess.

  • Amazed that this is the worst phone i've ever seen in my life. Wow it has nothing. It looks plastic, there's no outbox, font is terrible, its basically a piece of crap. The first cell phone i ever had that was bigger than my house phone was better than this thing! Unless your looking for a call only phone, dont get it.

  • This is one cool phone on the block. But sms that's a pain. One big point is, it doesn't display . (dot, period) in sms and there's nothing like lowercase or UPPERCASE just a 16 segment display. It sure looks Geek :)

  • i have a five digit number taht appears every time i hit the "END" button does anyone know what that is all about???

  • i have not got any reply since i complained is there no solution for the problem why my phone doesnt ring any longer

  • If your sick of buying $200 phones, dont message, and really want a phone..... that is just a PHONE then this phone is great. It has the longest battery life and loudest ring tone of any phone I have ever owned. I use this phone on the T-mobile network in Connecticut and works just as good as my W510. I have had no problems with this phone unlike my W510 that died after I dropped it onto the carpet. I see there are some complaints about this phone, but I think we all know, they are people who bought this phone thinking it could e-mail, message, and fly to the moon. I just needed a phone and I have a pc to do anything else. In conclusion, This phone is like an old-school cell phone from 10 years ago except with more battery life and better reception. If you were still in diapers 10 years ago you will probably not like this phone but if you are sick of breaking expensive phones with options you never use then this is the phone for you.

  • For all those who think this phone is not good: do you still use a computer for e-mails & games, a CD player, a DVD player and a camera? If yes, why? You have your phone, right? This phone lets me do what I want with a phone: Phone calls and SMS. And has the "extras" that I need such as sleekness and battery life. It is black, and it is beautiful!

  • I got one of these phones last year to go camping. I was camping at the World Jamboree and the only way to charge the phone for 3 weeks was to get ripped off with the scouts and pay them to charge it (despite the fact that we'd all volunteered our time to be there). So rather than pay them I got this phone as I'd heard the battery life was so superb, and it really was, it lasted me for the whole of the World Jamboree as an emergency phone, I also took my Razr V3xx with me, and paid them once to charge that, after that though I didn't trust them with my phone again as they pulled the Motorola M logo off the phone and so used the F3 when the Razr went dead. It was superb.

  • You can't reduce the font size, it uses an LCD display, like an alarm clock so it everything is a standard size.

  • The only issue I am having with this phone is that it doesn't keep record of all calls (especially received) in history. Some calls are just being ignored and not shown, even though I am sure there was a call between other two shown calls. Maybe I am missing something?

  • This phone does what it has to do, an occasional email, storing numbers in a phone book, calling and answering incoming calls. Up to now (> 1 year) no failures. It fits well in the pocket of my shirt, so I have it always with me. For 25 , this is an excellent choise.

  • Meant to be simple to use, all I can say is B*llocks! I work in a phone shop and I've never had so many returns on phones like this one. This may be cheap but certainatly not cheerful. I'll say if your a person who needs a backup phone "Only for making calls" then this will do.

  • I got the F3 for my wife as an in between phone until the new iPhones were released. But they're having so many problems that she still has the F3. You'll note from the other reviews that this is a bare bones phone. If you want a phone that you can manually enter phone numbers, press dial to talk and retrieve voice mail then buy it. If you want to do anything else (like answer an incoming call) then this isn't the phone for you. If you want a phone that when you get angry at someone you can throw it at them then this phone is for you too. It is small, lightweight and inexpensive. Thus you probably won't do too much damage to the person you're throwing it at and you won't be angry when it breaks in the process. If you're traveling this might be a good phone because no one will steal it. And if they do you'll simply laugh at the thought of them trying to resell it to someone on the street.

  • Has anybody figured out how to reduce the font size?? SMS is nearly impossible...

  • Some people say I am "downgrading" from a razr, but this is easily the best phone I have ever used or owned. Some say the lack of features is a downside but it has everything I will ever need. It has only 7 ring tones for those who care, but i thought they were all very modest and catchy, a welcome change from the [hones that have some horrid song by 50 cent blare out every times they are contacted. The energy efficiency and durable design are a feat of modern engineering. The Motofone even makes my sister and her Sidekick feel jealous.

  • Cheap and cheerful phone which cost me 1.99 which also gave me a 5 voucher so I'm quids in already. Actually, it's not cheap and cheerful. Just cheap but having lost my expensive Sony this phone covers the main base. If I lose it then I've lost very little. The font size is daft and would appeal to your blind granny only. It does the basics and for me that's fine.

  • I was buy this phone for ten minutes, and i feel so regret to buy this set. One thing which make me regret is the font. Anything is good except font style and size. It is not for messaging purpose, it's for phone call only.

  • I was buy this phone for ten minutes, and i feel so regret to buy this set. One thing which make me regret is the font. Anything is good except font style and size. It is not for messaging purpose, it's for phone call only.

  • Too bad it can't teach you how to spell. Take an english class, for christ's sake.

  • This Phone Is Very Goosd For Its Price And What it is, It has a decent speakerphone, its basicly Spash Proof, hard to scratch. Easy to Read, the sms and phone book may be a little hard to Scroll across ...but ive been using this phone since its Release, and i love it. its simple. and does what a Phone should ...call and sms...it even talks to you now thats a feature the iphone dont even have.. 10/10

  • Yes, I bought a headset for this phone today for only 4,90 Eur. It's the "Mono Headset S215", produced by Motorola. The sound is excelent.

  • no...it has only port for charging...

  • Does anyone know if this phone is compatible with a headset (I know it's not bluetooth, but just a wired mike/earpiece)?? Any recommendations?

  • And in the age of technological minituarisation it's a decrepit, archaic, over-the-hill old-timer that's been dressed in tinsel in a weak attempt to pass itself off as a contender in the modern market. Anyone that defends this phone may as well call themselves a neo-luddite, or move in with the Amish.

  • I could not use this phone for more than a few minutes. The text is enormous and the icons are very tiny. Reading text messages is impossible, as is scrolling through your address book. Only 5-6 characters are displayed, so if you have NAME CELL and NAME HOME you cannot tell the difference. The phone frequently locks up and freezes upon simple tasks such as opening the address book. So much so that it is practically unusable. The center button for navigating the 'menu' is unreliable. Worse, many of the basic phone settings (like turning off the key tone) you need to change with a special code only found in the user's manual that you must memorize. Please don't buy this phone! The Motorola C139 is a barebones phone that is far superior and about $10 cheaper.

  • This is THE anti-iphone. It has three basic features: calling, sms-ing and setting an alarm. It's liberating to know that there's nothing else that your phone can do. It's a piece of clarity in the clutter of our daily lives.

  • Excellent phone, it serves it's purpose - calls, SMSs, alarm, vibration. This is what cell phone is :) Recommendation for those who already have another phone (all-in-one) :) cheers

  • Its a basic phone and serves the purpose

  • hi vipul as u r saying that this phone get stuck while calling n not get switch off n you have to take out battery well i wanna tell u that there is no problem with the modle yor phone cought virus thats y it got hanged again n again kindly get it checked in service center.

  • its a "boom"

  • this phone has got the looks similar to an high end phone if you really think what u have for the price..sleek design..speakerphone is good n clear even if u r in the middle of ridin ur bike....rest of the things like msging, ringtones is just too hopeless...no way on this earth i can read my inboxes peacefully...crap!!

  • This phone is not a good phone, waste of money. It always get stuck while call is in progress, and dosent even get switch off. Then i have to remove its battery and put it again. Well my opinion, dont ever buy this phone. Ya but just only 1 good feature it is too slim and fits in wallet, kool.

  • What an absolute pile of pants this phone is, even at its cheap price, its still next to useless .. would sooner use two tin cans and string than persevere with this pile of phoo... don't waste your money

  • i love this phone, i got mine yesterday for 10.00 it's realy good

  • So far I'm totally impressed with this phone. It has every feature I need, and NONE that I don't! Is there a way to show the date with the time like in the graphic? Mine only shows the time when idle?

  • a very ugly phone

  • This phone is like a calculator. Its very cheap and convenient to use.Keypad is flat and battery..........its very very very good.Anyway very cheap and stylish model by Motorola.

  • For silent mode, Just put the volume down all the way. (Press down button you'll see)

  • You can get the manual in english (and some other languages) on motorola.com To activate silent mode you have to press down until you read "0" and one more time to put on the vibrating. No double calls managing on this phone from my experience.

  • For those of you needing the ENGLISH manual. How To Guide Quick Start Guide enjoy!

  • Couple questions you are able to text message with these phones?

  • can anybussy tell me how to activate call waiting in this phone plzplzplzplzplzplzplzpl.....plzplzpl

  • does this phone have silent mode?

  • Hi!!! Could you Please send me a copy of the user manual for the Motorola F-3 cell phone in English????? Oh, Please-please-please???? Thank you so very much!!!! Have a FABULOUS weekend!!!! `Sil

  • this cell phone is for blind people! is awesome!

  • For those of you asking for the english user manual I sent it to all those in the first 3 pages that posted your email address. I love this phone I get over 7 days standby and I have not stopped playing with the functions since I got it. Now that I have fully recharged it I expect to pass the 7 day stand by mode with a few calls. I paid 39.99 plus 8.00 for an extended 2 year warrenty.

  • Its a great phone for what it is. i love it because it isn't overloaded with a bunch of junk I don't need. It's cheap so I switch it for my Rizr if I'm going to be doing something physical or might damage it. The SMS isn't as painful as people make it out to be, but my messages are generally under 40 characters. I've been using TAP for so long that i'm just as fast on this phone as my Rizr. If you have unlimited texting because you need it, get something else. It gets a really good signal for not having an external antenna. I also like how the clock is displayed all of the time similar to the v300. I hate having to fiddle with buttons and lids on other phones to see the time (might as well wear a watch instead?) It does have poor visibility at night and doesn't have bluetooth, but who cares for $25!!! However, i would not get this for teenagers or anyone who has to have the newest fanciest stuff. It would be great for someone not familiar with cell phones, or already has gizmos that do music, photos etc on another device. Its a phone, it makes calls, and does it well.

  • This is the worst phone I have ever seen! It doesn't ring most of the time, the voicemail won't let me check it or erase once I have heard the message. It just keeps repeating and plays the same message over and over. The battery life is short. Overall, this phone is the worst phone I have ever had and would not recommend it to my worst enemy!!

  • I have the same ..could you send me the English version to, when you get it ,,Thanks in advance,,Ghis. [email protected]

  • such a cool mobile... have ever seen...........

  • THIS IS ALMOST A WATERPROOF MOBILE This phone is for users who need a cell phone only to make and receive calls, occasionally do an sms and need an alarm clock everyday in the morning to wake up. Thats what this phone does ten on ten. The battery is great though takes over an hour to charge. Though I have not tested it I guess it would last at least 4+ hours of continuous use when on phone which is good I guess for almost anyone. The phone is ultra thin compared to other models in its price band and in a trouser pocket it does not make a bump as other phones do. It is as good as having an empty pocket. Thought the phone is a big phone almost 3/4th the size of a standard TV remote in length with equal width. Size Dimensions 114 x 47 x 9 mm Weight 68 g The finish of the phone is fantastic and very neat It certainly makes what constitutes a good buy. There is this fantastic website where in best deals are available to buy cellphones or rather any product, they guarantee their prices are the lowest and take a delivery charge of only Rs 45 and cover almost every city in this country. This is a great place for eshopping of phones HEY I AM EDITING MY ARTICLE HERE WHICH I WROTE THREE MONTHS BACK TO SHARE SOMETHING OUTSTANDING WITH YOU GUYS Three days back I accidentally dipped my cell phone in the water for almost 45 minutes. I came from jogging and since this phone is so slim I forgot it in my track pants, and dipped my pants in the bucket with soap water and forgot I had kept the phone in the pocket. As I realised that I had put the phone in the water I rushed to take it out from water, the screen was still showing the time..... However I immediately took out the battery and the SIM card. I then called my mobile dealer and he said just keep the phone under a study lamp whole night and in the morning it will work fine. I just could not believe it, he said it so calmly and he was absolutely sure the phone would work in the morning. So I told him still Ill come and show you the phone and he said no need the phone will definitely work. And guess what in the morning when I switched the phone on, it worked like usual. I made a few calls, charged the phone and it is still working. So this is an amazing product from Motorola, firstly it is so cheap and then on top of that its almost like a water proof phone - in the water for 45 minutes and still working ! If you are considering buying a phone in the lowest price range go for this phone ...my recommendation. In case come problem comes up later in this phone due to this water dip incident Ill sure put an update about that in this article here......

  • almoast perfect phone. only normal software is missing ;) that's my choise ;)

  • My Phone has just gone silent i have done all the manipulations but it only vibrates and when i choose the ringtones it continues to be silent please send me an email let me know if there is another operation to be performed such that i can know what to do but i believe the phone is very portable though it doesnt have functions like radio and games please i will be grateful if this problem can be solved

  • i have the f3 fone because i read on the internet reveiws of the good volume ,and also rings loud, which in my opinion make this fone excellent , BUT unfortunatly having only had this fone 6 months had to take battery out on number of occasions because it froze (nothing worked not even the time)and also the text messaging is quite awkward on some points. and all the ringtones are awfull ,which make it embarassing when it rings. but this fone is only priced at around 6.00 its excellent in my opinion just for the call quality.

  • mganda nman sya kci...... manips kso nga lang d nmin mgamit d2 sa pilipnas...... tsaka ung sulat nya ang lalaki....... ^_^

  • Ive got one of these (Ive had it for 6 months), and it is FANTASTIC! Even though its not a popular phone model in Thailand (it was made primarily for India), Id love to have about 3 of them (the price is so low). I highly recommend it! *The battery life is good. *The sound quality is great! *The signal reception is good. *The durability is great! (I have dropped it several times, and it has survived.) *It is VERY user friendly! *The display is BIG! *The ringing is LOUD! *The SMS messaging needs more characters. :(

  • You can get english instructions on Motorolas website. I don't believe the phone stores any of your information on it. Instead it just keeps everything on your sim card which means the number of phone numbers it can store is based off your sim cards limitations. I owned a Samsung t519 before this phone and honestly I like this one much better. It gets rid of all the flashy (useless?) features and shitty menus and makes the cell phone a cell phone again! The screen which uses a new technology called e-ink is amazing, way better then lcd's in direct sunlight. It's almost like you're actually reading something on paper, it's really weird. It also doesn't suffer the bad view angles of an LCD. The limitation is of course it doesn't display color (which means no pictures or videos) and it doesn't do much in the way of animations. In fact I wouldn't really use this for texting either. It's durable, has great battery life, easy to use and it's cheap. This is the phone for people parents, children, people who broke their phone out of warranty and want something unlocked, a backup phone, or like me someone who hates todays horrible menus on phones

  • i think this one is thin and all that, but it has nothing interesant, it has all bullshet, its a piece of ierda as you call it in spanish .,.. if you have an option between this or another, choose the other one

  • I got the phone for a disabled lady who just wanted a basic phone, she is delighted with, but asks one question, how many phone numbers will it hold, I have looked everywhere but can't find the information.

  • i think this is a great phone but can someone email the instructon in english to me i need it all i have is the spanish ver [email protected]

  • i've had this fone for 4 weeks now and i love it, crazy display e_ink, 5 days of battery, no nonsense, super cheap , and very slick design, and btw the thinnest on the market.

  • The phone does everything a phone should do. Good reception and very, very good sound quality. Battery life is normal (not very good). To send a sms is not as easy as it should be due to the lacking caracters (such as .!:() etc.). Dust and scratch proof design. Very nice keys & nice size (not too small). Some, not often used, menu items has to be changed with a code. That is also the reason that the remaining menu keeps nice, clean and simple (in my opinion it is an advantage). I used it for about 4 months and I should have bought it again with everything I know now. It still works as new.

  • below average signal reception, even with their dual antennae. hangs often. display may be spartan, but far from user friendly. not recommendable.

  • Someone who post the spanish instructions?? or the how to configurate them in spanish?? I have one but in english version. F3 was a simply cellular phone, not for sending messages or something else, only for speak. Good battery and cheap. Thanks so much Regards, Diego from Uruguay (Latin America)

  • i think this is a great phone but can someone email the instu in english to me i need it all i have is the spanish ver [email protected]

  • very simple phone. nice design. battery solid extra life. good and simple use. i love it.

  • I love this, just a phone and no extra nonsense just for the sake of extra nonsense.

  • Its an execelent mobile set .Its stylish , slim and very cheap whith great quality . It has extreem battery backup . Whatever u do the battery will support u for 2 to 3 days . So if u hav ipod and digital camera then get this mobile now :)

  • Very good Phone ,best phone in the world

  • Amazing battery backup... Its just a phone.. and if you have good camera.. iphone etc like me.. go for it. looks rich and smart

  • Wow! This phone is just AWESOME! It's light and nice looking, and best of all: it's slim as it can be. The battery life is solid, the reading of the screen on daylight-unprecedented. I simply LOVE this cutie. Forget texting thou. But if u plan to have this phone as a secondary one(like i do), using it only for making and recieving calls - it has my biggest recommendation. Ooou and i allmoust forgot: I bought it for 20$ (a new one, with one year warranty!!!)

  • I have been using this phone for about a week and i really like it. the battery life is really good, and so are the reception and the sound. it's very light and thin. it doesnt do much, but it does what matters! good product.. also VERY cheap. saw it on ebay for as low as $10 US.

  • You can get the english manual here at this URL..

  • Hi, I've just purchased this phone to replace my Motorola C650, which stopped working. However, I notice that the manual is in Spanish. I've heard that someone has posted a English version of the manual online. Could someone please tell me the website address please? I would greatly appreciate it. You can email me at [email protected] Take care, Mirza Selver

  • Best, underground, fancy, stylish, this motorola is Motorola Katanga f3!!!! Bravooo!!!!!! I like this and i gonna by 3 Katanga phones!!! Bravooooooooo!!!!!

  • boss ..... this phone is the ultimate phone. I changed my N95 for this phone. The slim looks and easy handling just took my heart away. Plz plz plz plz .... use this phone.

  • well mate if you want to change your iphone for an f3, how about we swap... i have a black one, and a blue one.

  • This is the best fone I ever seen, has all the functions I was looking for, and also has a stylish design. I'm very happy with it, i'm glad I change my iPhone for this phone its battery duration is amazing. Cool.

  • f 3 o top da motorola

  • I use this phone in Thailand and the usersbook is in Holland. My ringtones are blocked because I did something wrong.WHO CAN HELP ME ? Thanks in advance, Cees

  • oh my dear friends dont buy this phone. this is rubbish. this is only good when its price will 1000 rs. other wise it is kaam chalao phone. and you know it by reading its features.

  • this phone reminds me of the ms-dos days

  • I was looking for a simple phone without any frills. This fits the bill perfectly. Very well made, easy to use, comfortable to talk with, inexpensive. Now that someone posted a web site for an English manual I am set. I highly reccommend this as a phone. Screen is awesome.

  • Cell phone very good Moto F3 I LOVE YOU.

  • woow coll an budy. Its just slim as my ass

  • Simple and excellent.

  • Got this clearance in carphone warehouse, 5 for the phone including 10 credit on virgin, plus free delivery(and I got 7 cashback). So i made a profit on buying it! The phone is basic. Good for folks with impaired sight, and large keys are good. Some good ideas here. But don't knock it because it does only basic things

  • It's such a shame that some people lack the simple knowledge that NOT EVERYONE needs and uses all those sophisticated functions on a phone. Believe it or not there are some people who actually use their phones ONLY to make and receive calls, and so it makes no sense to buy an expensive phone just to use it for voice calls. Hope that clears the confusion.

  • This phone is rubbish if you want to text at all. I feel it must be said, once you have sent a message a little ok sign comes up on the screen for a second. That's it, you get no more chances to view or resend your message to another person (or group), the message is gone for good. No saved messages, not even the chance to look at the message once it's been sent. Even worse, and this is unexcusable, if there is trouble with the message being sent, ie signal drop out on either end, the message is lost for good! no chance to resend, it's gone! that is truly pathetic and just not good enough. say you go to the bother (and on this phone it is truly a bother) of making a longish text, spend some time getting it right, then try to send it but it fails. A message comes up that sending failed, then you are dumped directly back to the start screen, no chance to resend the message! So if you NEVER text, don't want to text at all, and are only interested in using a mobile for talking then it might be worth your $50. If you need to use a mobile to text DO NOT BUY THIS MOTOFONE!

  • why did they release this piece? it is such a piece

  • good phone for those who ARE ON BUDGET

  • I bought this mobile phone for an elderly lady. It even took me a couple of days to adjust to its very slow reacting functions. Also, it's not simple to read and access SMS & the phone book. It's a simple and not too bad mobile phone for teenagers, but definitely nothing for elderly people.

  • It works great in Canada! I love this thin phone. It gets excellent reception, call quality, and battery life without all the silly vanity features that most phones have. Nobody wants or needs colour screens or downloadable ringtones on their Home phones- Why would you want it on a cellphone?

  • supposed to be an easy touse phone, but its very hard to use. and even for a budget phone the features are cr@p

  • Absolute rubbish! Needed a cheap phone after temp phone after my old one broke but this is just awful, had it two days and am now about to put it on ebay, I'd rather be phoneless for a while than have to bring this out in pubice places!! The only plus side to this phone is its thin and great for a night out when you only take a small handbag!!

  • ● Very bad phone ● Only budget wonder ● You can't do anything easily

  • This phone is Stylish .MOTOFONE F3 looks so cool.

  • keys get pressed automatically in pocket. so my advice to u :use cover. -------- or enable autolock option! :)

  • wats d special bout diz hp??

  • really cool fone . it does all for what it is meant. here is the fone analysis: rating according to 5 stars. loud speaker **** voice receiving ***** vibration ** ya ali ringtone ***** value worth ***** thickness ***** stylish look ***** phonebook memory 0 sms reading * battery **** user friendly **** simple ***** keypad ** dust protection ***** screen size ***** unbreakable ***** this fone is made in india. i noticed 2 problems: deleting sms procedure too lengthy. keys get pressed automatically in pocket. so my advice to u :use cover.

  • its a pretty good phone for the low income earners

  • the intention of motorola was to make a simple cheap phone ... and they did it a remarkable job

  • very very very very BAD phone u cant do ANYTHING With it no wonder the price was so low

  • Only 3 days of battery life on my Motofone F3!

  • I'm sorry to say but this phone is really really reallllly bad it's the stupitest phone EvEr invented! People should not sell those anymore.. You get headaches...

  • low end cheap phone... just what I wanted, very happy with it

  • the phone don't have bluetooth

  • This phone has no bluetooth. It's a simplicity phone.

  • bloody phone very bad

  • The best and the simplest mobile with the least of the money you can buy!

  • is the bluetooth on this fone any good?

  • hi all! a friend of mine gave me a motofone as a Christmas gift i really really like the idea of a simple phone - no camera, no WLAN ... also i like this phone much more, than other simple devices (ex. 1100) because of the design, slim shape and of course the e-ink display with its huge retro alarm-clock type characters but! i had some problems with it: 1. sometimes when i end my call while it's still ringing, because it's no answer on the other end, the operator name then the clock appears , but the speaker just keeps on ringing 2. out of the 250 contacts stored on the sim card, only for about 80 names are recognized, for the rest only numbers (the contacts were saved by a 6310i nokia) 3. i miss the setting for the loudness of the alarm, the melody is really cool, though other than these, it's a really cool phone, i'll keep using it b

  • As with the majority of motorola's the texts messages always end up "sending in progress" this phone is no different. To resolve the issue, delete the outbox and then turn the phone off/on and then the message should then go through

  • This is one of the best products of M. F3 reminds me what a phone is. Here are some of merits/demerits Merits: -sleek/stylish -very good battery backup -highly robust -Light weight -No Hang/restart issues -Excellent Incoming Voice quality -Cheap -Completely Insulated from dust -And above all it is simple De-merits: -Code's (This is not real disadv..since setting change is not done offen) -Messaging Although there are lot of criticism about the usability of the F3, once mastered this would be best phone in its CLASS. I bought it for INR 1000/- in Chennai. It does what it has been made for.

  • mine is about my motorola C119.it has failed to send text messages and l dont know what is wrong.

  • well ive had a ericsson w800 and no-kia n95 those were real toys (not phones) , but if i bought f3 it was simple phone, that i will use for many years if nothing will happen to it (like 5110 and 3310 were years ago). For those toy-features i bought myself a PDA. F3: Good battery life , good design , extremly cheap, good clarity.I dont send sms-s so the upper-lower case typing difficulties are no big deal for me.One of the best mobilephone through ages.

  • I have this phone but i don`t know how i setup a clock and date same like the pictures for this phone. if some know that please post me on my mail: [email protected]

  • andrew if u wana deletekeep goin to the rightttttttt until u see a bin n then press the up arrow n it well delete

  • Fantastic phone for old people...Numbers and letters big enough, so old people can see them. Does it really have vibration??????

  • Hello, I have a number in the phone book that does not give an option to delete - any ideas?

  • Really the phone just for mesaging and calls thats it (is like the phone in my house, it just works for one thing, making calls)

  • Hi, i just purchased a motorola F3,it looks a good phone, but it doesn't have the user guide. if any one can help i will appreciated. thanks,

  • verry cheap phone, robust, with poor features package, but work great. it does a few hings but it does them verry well. good battery life. lite phone. howerver the menu and the display are way too rudimentary

  • I think this phone is awsome for people wants only do and recive calls. And design is very cool =D

  • This phone is very retro feeling... but usable.

  • tis phone is cute but no features

  • i want the size of this phone its cool... but there some problem in this phone, it cant receive a businesscard, sometimes i cnt receive a call... n i cnt save a number on the phone book.... but the size and look ofthis phone is cool...

  • Does anyone know how to activate automatic deleting of messages? Apparently the phone will delete the oldest SMS first when it receives a new one, if your inbox is full. But mine doesn't seem to do that, and I can't receive more unless I delete manually. I don't see why people are complaining about this phone. There's plenty of others with cameras and suchlike. I've started using this because it's far more reliable than my expensive Samsung and the only features it lacks are those I didn't use anyway (ie. most of them)

  • i love the size of this phone, rest is all crap

  • Extremely difficult to use. Also hard to read text messages and tone settings can't be turned off unless u set ur ringtone to silent. Also you can only send texts in lower case and there's no predictive text. I'm on my way to buy a new phone.

  • can ny1 tell me which is in the background of this video of F3....

  • i think that this cellular phone is very nice but it has to have more options and camera adn so on.......

  • By paying 5$ extra u get fully featured fone as 1112 nokia and same clarity plus talk time why did moto brought n market when UNO wanted 1 million pcs for poor n Africa for 20 bucks. It is out of production and no upgrade expected. Just throw them away after use.

  • Is good just because is cheap, if you were expecting more features in this F3 phone, you went wrong, you may regret at first but be accept your decission once you get use to this phone and to know how it operate. anythig I don't know any one is free to let me know

  • is nice phone but u can't browns or edit your sent items, it is bit dificult to read some letters, but cool fone to have, slim and light, you cant add ringtones, the graphic is of low standard

  • I don't thin you can 'edit' entries, only delete. I have done a quick guide to opening, creating & sending text messages, making, answering & receiving calls, adding & deleting contacts in your phonebook. Please email me if you would like a copy emailed to you.

  • does anyone know how to edit entry in phonebook. i can't find it, and i can't believe they cut that option out. beside that i am a very happy owner of F3.

  • Thank you dsg117. I have searched everywhere to find out how to delete texts. The manual is wrong!! I bought this as a temp measure as my phone is being repaired. Good basic phone but doesn't allow predictive text or using numbers while texting (as far as I can tell). Will give to my husband (a technophobe) when my other phone comes back.

  • This F3 is just sooo crap so boring. Really hard to use for something that is meant to be so basic. Please it sould be taken off the market. And what with the # keg it does not work.

  • Hey! This one is inexpensive, cool, and very easy to use. In fact the speaker/speakerphone is more clear than my last L6 and the battery is for heavy use. When the family phones give up (L6, 5300, 6111, V3 & 6103) this one stills on. However there's no toys for this one. But who cares I need an spare phone and this one does the trick and do it excellent. I recommend this one to people who don't need MP3, Camera, Color screen, Java applets and Radio!

  • the motofone f3 is D most useable phone in our area....reason 1. its thin , 2.best signal 3. long lasting battery, 4. voice clarity,5.it's affordable. 6.poketable,7.AND MOST OFF ALL I LOVE IT WHEN IT TALKS TO MEE!!

  • Excellent basic phone for those who talk but don't text! Can read screen from any angle even in bright sunlight. I don't waste my time playing games because there are none and there is very little to configure. Auto key lock is great - some of our more expensive phones don't have that. Easy to keep clean. Cheap and easy to use once you get used to the different way it works.

  • this mobile costs around USD.29/- and a low end nokia with full features costs around USD.36/- the difference is only USD.7/- i dont see to waste money on a non-featured F3 for nothing. i would prefer nokia for that matter. i used F3 and didnt like a bit.

  • this phone is ok given the price, but is not design for heavy sms users, ok for voice, long battery life

  • F3 is best in its price range. If u want a camera, mp3, memory card, bluetooth, wifi, big screen, then just buy N95. Compare the price 25$ vs 650$.

  • Its an excellent phone. Not a expensive multimedia device. Think about it.

  • this phone for blind people..more than calculator.

  • I just bought this phone (pay as you go) for 14.99 in the UK. It is just what I wanted - a phone (and only a phone) that I can call/receive. I just wanted a phone, and this is perfect. 10/10

  • I dont know what the F stands for but is it Motorola's way of abusing people. Spend a few dollars more for a "phone". Thankfully the phone has been recalled. Motorola has other good phones though.

  • I recently purchased this phone and it does exactly what it's advertised to do. I suddenly have a little message indicator appearing on the screen in the top right corner and cannot find anything in the user manual to tell me how to access the message or delete the message indicator. Anyone got a solution?

  • This the one of the Crappy phone available... the only good thing is itz desing..

  • its the worst fone that i hav come across..poor in all aspects, its hectic just typing a simple text...amongst other things..menu is poor

  • yo mun, i so agree with Michael, I bought dis phone last week, found it very hard to use, d letters and numbers were huge and also B&W screen for such a gud lookin case is a shame, i decided to sell it for 15aud

  • Ok i have to admit the appearance of this phone is good, the rest is crap, for a moment there i was asking myself is this a phone or a calculator lol coz it's the most worthless piece of junk i ever bought, pros nothing cons everything

  • as a basic cell phone, this is awesome. as a portable multifunctional communications/entertainment, it's lacking. fits 6 characters on one line at a time, can't do email, take pics, listen to music. personally, that's fine by me. as i said, it serves the purpose just fine.

  • This fone looks good, nice try from MOTO, But they should comeup with improved next 2.0 version .. bcoz SMS is a big truble in this. and now Its not available in New-Delhi Its recalled I think.

  • man! this phone's a crap.... i thought it would be good, but if you need to read text messages, you'll have a big problem there buddy. Do me a favor: don't buy this phone, it's just not worth it.

  • this is good phone bcoz i t got extended battery life and voice clarity

  • It is a good phone but its target market is not the US. This phone is targeted to the developing countries (more than 4 billion - 60% of the world popullation). This will give more revenue that Motorola Q9h

  • don't compare this phone with other phones. this is basic phone for basic tasks, etc ,, take a call, receive a call, send a SMS, receive a SMS . thats all .... I mean this is a Great phone for simple persons, I mean non show offing people.

  • This phone is cheaper than a digital watch. now can you talk on a digital watch.. no you cant. Look at the plus side of it. ---its cheap. ---great signal --- excellent battery life. ---super slim --- excellent voice clarity. if those fashion concious people out there were looking for a colour screen mp3 player etc.. for around a 10.. they need to really dig deeper in their pockets. this does what it says on the box.

  • It's not a good phone.piss.

  • Its looks nice, seems robust, IS RUBBISH and i mean RUBBISH to use..... Its like a SLVR with a vtech screen. you decide TJ Hughes 8.99

  • This is a phone for making and receiving phone calls. It has limited texting functions so you would only use it for texting during emergencies. It is very inexpensive and can take a lot of physical punishment. Signal strength is always good and I have never missed a call using this phone. Those of you who are used to using mobile phones as a fashion statement or a multi-media device, this phone is not for you. This phone is great for keeping in touch via calls.

  • just bought this phone through cellhut. no users manual so had to search this site for english user manual. was glad that someone is nice enough to post the site. thanks. This phone is only good for sending and receiving voice calls . I wanted a simple phone merely for txting but this one don't cut it. reading the txt messages needs patients since words will be distorted because the letters are too big for the face to accommodate. it is a pain. i wanted to return it's but too much hassle to do so. If you want it for calling and and receiving calls then it is good for you. I wasted my money for this useless phone. What good is the looks if it does not even give you the basics.

  • come on don't all slate this phone, it's 8.99 so what do you expect, it's awesome as an emergency phone or a one for the younger kids.

  • Is this "phone" a joke???!?!? I've had better digital watches circa 1987....

  • i just got this phone 10 realy good large text large screensaver with clock display use just for calls and some texting signal is very very good, i have to other phones nokia 6230 and samsung k800i when other had no signal this phone moto had full signal (i did test it had a long conversation lol) its worth the every peny

  • This phone is really unique, maybe no other manufacture will built it later. But remember this phone is the first using e-ink (supposedly to change paper usage in the future). It's worthy for collectors.

  • This phone isn't a very good phone. i was so excited to get it, when i don it's nice, but... -texting is horrible -words are capital and lowercase -hard to read even though HUGE font -no games -no color it's just not a good phone. now if you don't want all that stuff GREAT, if you do, ya it's cheap, and skinny, but not so good. Just a warning before you go out buying a phone. =]

  • wow u bouth it for 500 now i just bought it for 80 and i think itz alright just to use

  • damn what a phone is this the technology they applied its kinda like a calculator that's have backlight

  • To the user from South Delhi, I live in West Delhi and couldn't find it in any showroom here to so ordered one online. I want to use it for a while just for kicks hehe. Waiting for it to be delivered.

  • To delete a text message, just hold on the right navigation key for a little longer when reading one. Then it asks if you really want to delete, just press up for confirmation. Simple as it is :)

  • i postexd the last one i bought it from orange mobile and it definatley wasn't worth it i bought it for $500.00

  • this phone is not worth a penny i don't recomend it to anyone at all it's just not good!!!

  • this phone was manufactured to make human beings hate mobile phones.

  • I think this phone is really2 easy to use. There's not so many confusing and useless menu. Only the basic functions call and SMS. The large font isn't problem for me, it adding some uniques feature for me. This phone really different with others. And I like it so much. Read the manual for how to use this phone, I only learn from there also and in one hour I get familiarized with this phone.

  • this fone is so bad. I cant figure out how to delete the damn text messages. i also can figure out the missed calls. Waste of money for me.

  • wot can i say, cept had great difficulty to start. then used the instruction manual, just one major prob its not the most informative of manuals, dont know how to text or delete old txts. and luckily for me i incerted an old chip with ready to use no.s of mates etc god only knows what will happen when i try to store a new no.!!!!!!!!! so if any-one out there can provide some really basic fonafobic instructions on how to get the best out ofthis phone i know that i am not the only one who would appreciate a little lotta help, cheers scarlettibetti

  • The phone that is made to be a phone (to call someone), not a toy. Long battery life, incredibly CHEAP and reliable (just turn off annoying voice menus). If you write lot's of sms and want some gadgets in your phone look for other phone, because text display shows only one line and is is simply uncomfortable.

  • This is something great. It is cheap, elegant, easy to use and everything garbage is gone. It simple the best.

  • its a nice fone, very basic and value 4 money

  • this fone is so bad . you wil hav beta luck usin a calculator as a fone

  • Lovely little no nonsense phone. It is heftier and smaller than you think it is. Simple and really well thought out. Not for you if you intend to do anything but make calls and the occasional SMS. Reception is wonderful. Price is right. Battery life is fantastic.

  • This is very very very very very poor. i have worked in the mobile phone industry for over six years and have come across some bad apples in my time but this one wins hands down. CRAP!

  • the fone looks good, but the problem im facing is that i cant find a single showroom which seels this...i live in souh delhi, and all the shops ive been to say this phone is useless and thats why they dont sell it. now im thinking about buying it online, as its a really good looking phone, and i guess the best in the sub-2500(inr) range phone!!

  • can these phone be used in fiji i think i find problem with it it say insert sim but i have already did

  • this phone is ice.. :d

  • this phone is unreal :d ice.. ;d

  • can you use this phone overseas????

  • I am very happy for you giving your customers the right to comment on your product. That is pure customer service bravo but i have a big problem with this particular F3 phone. why? why because the phone freezes alot. Try to check on that aspect of the it thanks

  • i own 1.mine has fallen several times but gets stronger n stronger.God bless dis fon.very sexy as well.too slim and very light.represents the meaning of fon usage ie 2 make and recieve calls as well SMS.i love it 2 the max.

  • A lot of negative comments about the motofone indicate to me some people have bought the phone without really knowing what they are buying. Its not difficult to read that the phone was designed to be a mobile phone and not a multi-media device. Obviously this model of phone will suit some people but not others --- that's why there are so many models of mobile phones in the marketplace. I was in the market for a phone which was inexpensive, had a built-in speaker, easy to set up, is reliable, good-looking to an extent, had reliable signal reception, durable and hardy. I narrowed the choice to either the Motorola W375 or the Motofone F3. I chose the F3 and am very glad I did so. I was quite surprised that this model of phone is quite popular in Australia because I had a bit of difficulty locating a handset. No regrets.

  • It's a good phone if u only need basic features(making& receiving calls n text msgs). Slim good signal strength n fairly good battery life. Most importantly it cost me only SL RS.4K which is about 4$. Only bad thing is the screen.Bt that with time u will get used to.

  • The speeker is loud and anoying, bad to understand wat the other says, bad ringtones...for what 7 realy bad ringtones? No memory, the display sucks, batery life wery poor.

  • This fone is a BAD one don't buy it!The menu sucks, only 6 caracters on the screen...you cannot reed normaly a sms!!!And the Batery is the weekest point of this fone.Buy motorola says it can last 1000h yes of course in standby mode dosen't resist 4 days! Before this fone i have a Nokia 1100 the batery resist 10 days and the menu was readable and easy. And don't forget has no memory for more numers and sms only the sim,you canot make setings becose you must remember 10-15 fone codes combinatain!By restarting the fone you have no signal, but van be resolved whit a code! I admit the only positive for this fone is that looks god.

  • its really a pure basic phone, a very good phone as a 2nd one when you only use it to call, or set as backup alarm. the vibration is averedge, its might feel abit weaker then normal phones because the phone is so slim. its 40euro here in Flanders, which seems a fair price. i'm using the phone without ever reading the manual, its really hard to find everything, even for someone who's been into cellphones for the last 7years. The screen might be the biggest downside for most people, but its just something we need to get used to, its abit nostalgic.

  • This is the worst phone I have ever owned. The only thing it is good for is a pocket watch. Texting is almost impossible to read or do. call is not even that easy, the letters are soo big you cant read the names on the display. It looks cool but lacks a good screen as well as good software

  • Hi i juz got this fone today and if someone can tell me how to erase messages in the inbox text messages that would be great! Thanks!

  • Hi...Now Get Rid of the Virus,Torjan. The Perfect to call a mobile.I Have Recently Brought it.Cool 1000 INR. • Its a gret fone . Just now i had it . Its a slim and sexy fone . If u want to buy a decent and a good fone go for this..........

  • REPY TO ALLISON MCHENDRY even i use this phone. its quite good.battery power too good, so everyone in yr offices use this mobile, and thats gr8. bye

  • can anyone tell me that whether there is a tone when a sms is received

  • I bought one last week, now we ALL have one in the office here. Sim card memory only, (no fone memory) so no problem unless you have 200+ numbers to store. If only ALL fones were like this oh, wait, my profession? Corporate Communications Officer - rofl - i spend 5 hours a day using this fone My N95 is back in its box!

  • lots of ridiculous comment here about this fone being for blind people/old people/stupid people. My company has just bought another 1200 units of these for our engineers, the 3rd batch we have had(!), 45% of that workforce have also bought one through our employee sales program for personal use, go figure.... Sealed against sand/moisture too, we use them on 4 continents :)

  • I would like to buy this phone (motorola f3) just for its appearance and basic requirements it provides of dialling & receiving calls, sending & receiving sms's. Pls suggest whether this one would be worth as some comments say its memory is not good.

  • WOW this fone is a big hit. Well this fone is very very cheap 20-22 $ are really very less i LOVE it.

  • y in the world would u buy this phone

  • its not a good phone, coz it has no phone memory so i cant store numbers i have no space in my ph memory, display also sucks,i think its the fully faltoo phone moto ever made...........so if u buy so much u suffer. no privacy.talk for dtail +8801715406259

  • how do you put the date under the time when the phone is in ``sleep`` mode (idle mode) like in the picture in the left. thanks...:))

  • It is really a cheapest phone I ever Saw it available only 25 dollars in pakistan.

  • its a good fone 4 pakistani people specially 4 mobile SNATCHERS on the road, if u got in this type of situation of snatching mobile just give dis fone to THEM and buy a new 1 because of its low price!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How many phone numbers can I store in the phone?.Iam an oldie and cant rember mobile numbers too good,so I want to put them in the phone and just click on them Thank you Kerry

  • Its the cheapest phone (S$58 at People's Park Complex) in Singapore and it does its job well. SMS texting takes awhile to get used to but its reliable.

  • Do NOT buy this phone!!!!! The phone menu is useless, i cant read text messages properly. I wanted a phone just for call and text but this is rubissh

  • Well, iam opting to buy another phone for my other line but iam still confused which phone to buy. I've looked at motorola f3 but don't know much about it, please advise coz i need it urgently. Thank you.

  • So simple, it's brilliant. And really insanely inexpensive. It's worth having as a second device if you've got a big smartphone and just want something basic, but for many people it's all they will ever need.

  • I like the design and the sound quality. The ringtones are very simple and not very good. The battery life seems to be good, I only have it 2 days. The thing I like about it most, is the clear display with large letters. It does what it's supposed to do: making telephone calls and SMS. Good value for money.

  • okay.. the first time i saw this,, what i think is "what a stupid n useless phone!! It's a junk" but when i read the user opinion.. i kinda agree with Dean Chalk n Alex opinion.. Simplicity is it strength,, this phone is just for those who want the basic, just phone n sms,, nothing else.. What else ? It has a great battery life,, and u will only use it for call n sms,, no games,, no mp3,, no camera,, which means the battery goes longer than any phone... Who said that this phone is a rubbish ? With it's price,, u can't get better phone than this.. Thumbs up here,, it's actually a very creative way of thinking from motorola !! instead of competing with technology, it revive something that long extinct "simplicity"... Look there,, even though this phone is just good for call n sms,, gsmarena even have review for it which not all phone has...

  • AT LAST !!!!!! I would have paid 20 times the price for this phone. The reason...... Its a brilliant way to make (and receive) phone calls whilst on the move. You can also send and recieve text messages, and keep a list of your contacts... THATS IT !!!!! No browser, no bluetooth, no camera etc. etc. Just a stylish, light, slimline, long battery-time phone. I am a very well paid city (London) professional who has spent thousands on phones over the years, and this one is definately the best. It just gives me what I need, and does a damn great job of it. People have criticised the phone for its lack of features, but they miss the point - the simplicity is it's strength. The manual is about 1 page long, so you just quickly set-up the basics and your DONE. Calling and texting is simplicity itself, and very intuitive. Also, it was ony a tenner (10), so I am actually considering buying several, just in-case they stop making them for some reason. This is my first and last review on the internet - I was sooo impressed with this phone I just had to tell someone....

  • hy! all user who dislike the phone please go to sleep, this is simply a phone that;s IT!! no camera, no memory no nothing just the basics, that;s all, i have this phone from a week or so and im very proud to say that phone is in its 2nd recharge, it works well, it has signal where all other smart phones are not, is has battery life time over 5 days, and that is all that i want from a phone, to make calls, and receive calls, if i dont know what to do with my time, maybe i will buy some stupid phone with java games, camera 2mp, and a 2gb micro card and spend all day long playing at the stupid phone as if i care...so please stop with thease stupid comments, its a crapy phone...its just a simple phone with slick design...slim fit and with strong signal over all other phones...it was made for one thing to call and receive calls /sms's and that all, its a good phone, i am not in to discharging my batt over on some stupid games , i use the computer, if i want quality from camera i buy myself a digital camera 9mp and that;s all. please do not comment silly things...there is no way that a phone to have all the latest gadgets and be less expensive...dream on...s...of...b...:))))

  • the most rubbish thing i have seen in the phone is that phone clock is not working fine; Yes, i am not drunk or insane; the claim is the clock works slow atleast in my phone. I have synchronized it with the international time clock and after a week it is 6 min. behind the international time. this is really ridiculous and grossly unacceptable.

  • how can i delete the calls in call history?

  • how can you delete the calls in call listing. and does it saves sent messages?

  • sorry. behind the fone get scratch easily and i bought it for 44$ without any warranty.

  • @mobile freak i bought it 21 days ago. the charge time of more than 4 hours is really annoying, the battery last about 5 days with normal use,it's not great, but ok.and behind the without any warranty.

  • @Arman thankx buddy 4 ur reply, its a lovely phone, i like it, its thin and light. so when did u buy this phone? i just bout this 5 days ago...... bye

  • @mobile freak no by now, maybe there is some undoucumented code for sms, but we dont know yet. and i dont think talk time is 500 minutes, it should be less, but the charge time(over 4 hours) bothers me ,and the sms alert is so low that u wont hear it.bu but overall it's a lovely fone

  • just responding to someonewho asked about storing of phone numbers in the phone memory; well it's a basic phhone that does not have internal memory and so you have to do all your storage in your sim card. thanks

  • i bout this phone and its very thin and easy to use. can someone tell me that can v keep a ring for sms alert?

  • hi friends, i want to know that in this phone we cannot store the phone numbers in phone memory.........

  • WELL talktime of this fone is 500 minutes (8 hours and 20 minutes) and this fone weighs 68 grams and 8.9mm and 32 channels polyphonic Its the best durable fones i ever used 10/10

  • if u just wanna give or recieve calls i tell u this is an amazing fone 4 that. good looking and easy 2 handle,i got it,,,,

  • haha try 4.99 in the UK.

  • It is realy good and very easy to use. i Recommend it. Good Price.54.28$ In IRAN Esfahan at 7/8/2007 15:25

  • more reliable than n95 symbian rubbish oh and n70 73 80 etc

  • This is THE phone I have been looking for for a long time..nice design, basic functions..That's what the telephone is for- calling, recieving calls, maybe sending some sms messages. But i think that main disadvatage is that there is no memory, I don't think I can put all my contacts on a SIM card

  • I think this is the worst cell phone ever! I had it and threw it outm couldnt stand it, never had signal, didnt tell me when i had a new message, the only good thing is that it is slim and nice lookin, but after that, no dont buy the phone!

  • when i recieve sms i cant hear any alert.is there any solution about it?

  • this is a nice phone it is slim and light. it is a phone so stop posting stupid stuff it is only a phon not for kids

  • At last some ones has brought a phone out that does exactly what it says on the box. So easy to use it doesnt even come with a manual! Stop whingeing people it makes calls and seneds texts, if you need a camera go and buy one with the money you saved buying this cheap handset.

  • i don't know what motorola was thinking!!!but seriously if u just need to make and receive calls this is a great phone 4 u.don't even bother try understanding it just make and receive ur calls.thats it!!!

  • HIDEOUS, my worst decision ever!!!! What is with the awful font?!!!!!! Can it be changed?

  • It's o easy to use, that even your parents or grandparents can use it !!

  • i work for orange retail and we all agree that this phone is hideous and should not be sold to anyone ever

  • This phone is a measly 9 quid (around 20 dollars) here in the uk at asda supermarkets

  • The Moto F3 is what it is. It is a PHONE. If you need a low cost phone that sends and receives calls and you don't want to pay a fortune, it is perfect. I live in the USA and spend 10 days/month in London. For 15 pounds, I was up and running on a pay as you go sim. The call quality is good, battey life is outstanding, and it receives the signal as well as any GSM phone I've used. If you want to surf the web or take photos, this isn't the one for you. If you need a phone that works like a phone and nothing else, the Moto F3 is perfect!

  • i bought this motofone today, and i am very happy, because it is very simple, easy to use, and no more function, i think, if you won't more function, this cheap phone is best choise. this pnone is second, my first phone is nokia 6630, and now i wan't nothing more.

  • I work at cellphone shop.Wudn't advice any1 2 buy it.Cool design & menu.User-unfriendly; wack features, tones & what were the designers thinking with the EXTRA LARGE font! Nokia 5110 is a better choice than this even in 2007!

  • I bought this slim basic phone yesterday. I think is great value for money. It has main folowing features: 1) Vibro mode - which is a must when do not want to disturb others if are in a public place or a theater and expecting important calls. 2) It has a speaker phone which is very handy while you are driving. 3) It has a big screen which shows everything big and clear. 4) It has a big key pad which can be used easily. 5) It has a keypad lock that doesn't connect to anywhere without your knowledge 6) It has Date, Clock and Alarm. 7) It has SMS service for sending and receiving text messages 8)It has seven preset decent ringtones with vibro mode. 9) It is so slim and light weight, it fits in your shirt pocket and you don't feel you are carrying one. 10) It has decent standby and talktime. 11) It looks like any other smart phones in the market. 12) And above all, if you lose it or it gets stolen you don't lose your sleep on it and doesn't pinch your pocket. If you want any extra features like camera or music, go buy the devices that are meant for exactly that. This is a straight forward user friendly mobile phone. For this price everyone should have one as a spare one given that smart phone get spoiled or lost or stolen easily. Try it and you will know what I mean.

  • i have this phone i toke it today , very good voice quality , high coverage antena , but it,s very good for me cuz i dont need camera , music or mms or another thing , i just say hello and good bye, very cheap i toke it 40 dollar

  • Bought this phone at Asda for 9 so its got to be a bargain even though it is only a very basic phone. If you write a text out its one of them 1 line things that you had on the old phillips savvy from about 10 years ago. Also it only does 1 text at a time (159 characters )but............ the phone looks good :}and for the money it would make a decent spare which is what i bought it for

  • this phone looks like a gash version of the L6 which was gash. i have never had gash and never will

  • if you dont know, this phone is for blind peoples.

  • What do you all expect ?? This is a basic phone very cheap, My local Lidl store were selling this sim free for less then 50.00 !! great phone if all you want is to talk and text, if you want blue tooth, gprs, mms, camera, etc pay for it hello the features are clearly displayed when you buy a phone quit complaining

  • Fist of all the phone is great ............but my problem is that i don't know how to delate the missed calls and the dailed calls.......please can you show me how to delate it please.

  • THE MARVELOWS MOTONO Card slot No Data GPRS No HSCSD No EDGE No 3G No WLAN No Bluetooth No Infrared port No USB No Browser No Games No Customization No

  • Great if all you do is talk. Best features are slim clean case, screen is easy to read at any angle even in brightest sunlight, there is nothing to play with (no pictures, video, games), intrusive alarm, and speakerphone. Worst features are having to input codes to change some settings and initially more difficult to use to start with primarily because it doesn't have onscreen menus.

  • How can I clear the call list? thanks!

  • Its great as a second phone. gr8 battery time nd speaker is good. :)

  • fantastik fone! my gf bought one, was playing with it in the bathroom, it slipped from her hand while she was texting, and fell on a bucket of water! we thought it was done for but no! just dried it off, still good as new since 3 weeks passed. my mother loves it too - big fonts, easy to read display, and good audio quality! wat more can she ask for - no need for camera/bluetooth/gprs.. miniSD, email, mp3 great job moto!

  • C'MON!!! what is this?

  • hey can any body tell me how to select n/w while in roaming there ic no such option. and does not work in roaming

  • this phone is good but not great . actually motorola made new thing when this phone hit the market it's good , light , good looking and its screen just like the watch screen it's good but i hope if it had a better performance

  • this phone is ftustating in term in silly codes, better u think for other phone than f3by adding some more amount.donot waste ur money and this phone is good 4r those people who want incoming and outgoing

  • I used this phone for a month or so, the sms is a pain to read as well as write, battery backup and talktime is also very poor. It don't last for more than 1hr while talking continuously. buttons are also very poor, as is the display. the only good thing about this phone is use and throw feature, becoz at this cost u really get nothing.

  • This model is very usefull and simple. speaker phone use is wonderful.

  • Innovative Technology Used. Cool Looking Phone. Need some getting used to though. Love it anyways. There is more to Motorola than meets the eye.

  • best phone for outgoing and incoming purpose...battery life is too good...u can bang upto 4 hours non stop with this phone....go for it

  • best phone for outgoing and incoming purpose...battery life is too good...u can bang upto 4 hours non stop with this phone....go for it

  • this phone is the worst thing to ever hit the market and motorola should be hanged for bringing such a below average lowend phone out

  • I like this phone without additional crap like FM, MP3, 2 MP camera with fantastic brilliant digital zoom and other shit like that. Pity, that there is no GPRS, otherwise i would like to by it...

  • In a single sentence,So sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • this very googd phone and very sexy we need to have this phone very good diplay.

  • When I bought this slim phone, my girlfriend laughed at me. A week later her phone was snatched from her bag. She came to me and complained that she was out of reach. I gave her the F3 and she started using it. After two days she told me the phone was fantastic. A month later I wanted f3 phone, she refused saying she enjoys using it. She is 53 years old. maybe that's why it is a nice toy!

  • The better thing I found in this phone is an extra sound function... Just after use it we started to heard the usual Nokia fanboys whine. AHAHAHAAHAHAHAH... bye bye preciousssssssssss 1100 trash! (BTW we changed all from that 1100 bricks to these slim F3's)

  • This the best mobile phone i heve seen. You can talk, you can send and recive SMS. What is more to be needed??? Good battery life and verry cheap. I love it!!! The menu is a little strange but it works just fine. For 50$ you have a fully functional telephone.

  • MOST affoardable and user friendly fone 43 million fones are sold............. ROCKSSSSSSSS

  • Deos someone tel the SAR value of this phone please? There are few people look and care this value. The lower SAR, better for health.

  • I work in a mobile phone store, and I have to say that this is the least user friendly phone I have ever encountered. Not having a ordinary menu for choosing settings, but instead having to use codes is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of within the cell phone business. Considering that this is a phone for people who most likely haven't had many phones before, makes it even worse.

  • it is really bad experiance.

  • only one setting is to be added in the phone. (phone setting mode ) and light option and colour. good phone to handle

  • It is very good phone ! Good conversation quality, strong talking volume, god ringing volume.very good displey in light conditions and big numbers and of corse talking menu if need .Light ,slim ,strong !Whats a phone suppose to be !

  • really a good cheap phone, simple to use, fine figure... it should create a good competition in mobile market in cheap n' slim devices.

  • Plain and simple... but you have the things you need. Not a toy like others I had before but does the job great.

  • Bought this phone as a 3rd phone to use when in Slovakia - to avoid roaming costs. With 5 SK (literally a few pennies) you can get a prepaid card, so that it's a superb "incoming calls only" phone due to its size. And makes a nice conversation piece in 1st workd countries. In terms of functions, sms, email, well, that's what Nokias and Blackberrys are for. BUT: the model they sell in Slovakia has only 3 languages programmed into it: Slovak, Czech, and Hungarian (I think) - even if one of the manuals included in the box is in English. What's an English speaker to do? Come on, Motorola - what would it have cost to also include English? Otherwise, I am a fan.

  • well, i bought one and all i can say is that F3 is not for the regular phone user and may not satisfy everyone but if you're only into talking - go ahead! the phone looks great and works fine

  • It`s a great phone. Great design, keypad is really comfortable, the display is really clear, you can read it clearly even in direct sun light, battery holds great and it`s really simple. It`s a phone, that`s what it`s name says it is, that`s what it is. I always thought that a phone, a camera and a media player don`t mix. If you put so many features in a small unit, you have to make compromises in quality and design. If you want those features, buy separate units. A phone, a digital camera & an iPod. This one was meant for talking and it`s great at that. But I have a question regarding the language. Mine was bought from Italy, I`m from Romania and the menu has 3 language options. Italian, French and another one which I don`t really understand. Does anybody know if it`s possible to add or replace one of them ? I`m interested in English. If it`s possible to reinstall it`s software. Thanks & cheers.

  • dont fool for this phones great looks ! it sucks !! stay clear trust me

  • i bought this handset and i have to say it the only model that will penetrate my cualiflower ear . its great i can only have 20 numbers and thats more than all the people i know . i would recommend it thanks hello moto

  • Battery life is dismal, lucky if it lasts 4 days even when not talking much on it. Motorola refunded my money and did not dispute the short battery life. I would not recommend it.

  • If u r trying to buy a computer with 50 Dollars then u must be one crazy nokia boy who is jealous of motorola's stylish phones.

  • wow.. is this wat computers have become?

  • its the best fone of world with quality and price ratio

  • this phone is a dead phone and will never prescribe it to any body. i think it is for blind men.

  • i love this phone i just upgraded from my n95 to the f3 wow wat a difference. the f3 is a mile above the n95. my f3 has a key pad, a battery and a great screen that looks like a newspaper, i love my phone and recomend it to any idiots out there xoxo adrian

  • I've been using the Motofone for about a month now, and I love it. First of all, the review is either wrong, or their phone was faulty, but the backlight is far stronger than in that photo. In fact, I found it extremely adequate. I also bought it as a second phone, but I like it's size and sound quality so much I never use my other phone now. I used to be a smartphone freak, but I realized I mostly talk, and sometimes send messages, and the Motofone is definitely perfect for that. And can't beat heads turning in the street for a 30 phone. A+ for design.

  • I want one. I'm sick of these new phones. I want this... very basic!

  • Been using the phone for a week. It's worked as much as I expected in the first place. The feel of the phone is great. The menu is a bit clumpsy at first, but already get used to it. The CVD display is truly great under sunlight. All letters/numbers can be read. The sound and the speakphone are great. The battery can last 2 days of heavy use, but the charging takes forever (5 hours - fully charge). I have nothing to complaint about this phone. Truly great value. Easy to operate. Meet my expectation as a true simple phone.

  • the fone lookz real nice buh the features r not very nice if u wanna get a simple yet cheep fone then go 4 a razr v3......

  • Hi the fone is wery simple and for the secondery fone is just perfect. 1 single problem....the batery life is wery low for a fone whit no color display and other extras....i use it about 1.5 mount and the batery life is around 3.5-5 days...the other fone that i hawe a nokia 1110i the batery life was 9 days!!!...the color sagem my400v that is my primery fone whit color display and camera has a 7 day batery life!!The fone is goog THE BATERY IS CHEAP CHINESE NOT GOOD!

  • just bought the f3 and cannot dial there is always an error icon present no repception PLEASE HELP MY SERVICE PROVIDER IS ROGERS

  • Very beautiful and strong phone! I love to SMS with it, no problem reading 6 characters at a time.

  • Modes/ Technology GSM 850/1900 Weight 2.39 oz Dimensions 4.4 x 1.8 x .35 inches Form Factor Candy Bar Battery Life...... Talk time Up to 500 minutes Standby Up to 300 hours Battery Type 750 mAh Li-Ion Display 2.1" High Contrast ClearVision Platform / OS Icon Based Simple Interface Memory 32 MB Phone Book 600

  • should improve on the features and color.

  • It's a great fone :) Very simple, and, as a secondary phone it's all you need. I use Nokia 6230 since 2005, and now, as work phone, this F3. It's great !!!

  • This is the ugliest phone i have ever bought, and now Im stuck with it and I cant get rid of it. Worst phone ever

  • plz don't buy this phone you can waist ur whole day to read the msg in thisslim & attractive cell.Battery life is good.if ur eyesight is weak thn this will b right choice 4 u.

  • Friend of mine got this phone as an alternative phone, we actually never seen him use his other phone ever again. This phone is slim, battery last long, only real down side to this phone is the texting function. Perfect if you think too many features make a phone confusing.

  • I really like this phone. I only need a phone to make calls and send and receive SMS and i got it!

  • I'm glad i've read gsmarena review. It's a not to buy one.

  • IT'S THE LOWEST BUDGET PHONE!!! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT MORE !! it costa about 30$!!! Go get a 300$+ phone if you want camera, mp3 and other! One of the best. IT's great for ppl who don't want to wear glasses then they what to know the time. Or ppl with low eye vision. 8/10

  • 1 asnwer is hard to use...................

  • motorola F3 is the best. from me to you...by sambas from bogor west java

  • it is stupid

  • you know what guys, simply go for low end nokias. this dam phone costs US$37/- and the nokia 1112 costs US$42. for a mear $5 difference you'll be lot more comfortable using nokia. sometimes motorolas are crazy to put a beautiful looking mobile with minus features. BIG DEAL.

  • Well...its not a really gr8 phone, but its got a sleek look that beats the price. Trendy and extremely basic.

  • very strong phone it fell dosens of times and is still standing. its very affordable and easy to use. well done!!

  • Thank you very much, rif, for guidance !

  • wha ha ha ha ha WTF... how fortune i read this review before buy this crappy. Moto, make it a better one with some improvement

  • On the link below you can get all the codes discovered so far. E.g. Display number / total length of accepted incoming calls 111

  • I have got some doubts on this phone. (a) I got a single sheet manual which is not complete. Is there any other detailed manual ? (b) Is manual network selection possible while roaming ? If yes, how ? (c) How many hours battery should be charged while charging first time (c) On pressing ***111*(action button) one number is appearing. What setting is it ? Anybody has got answers, please ?

  • Good batery life, excellent phone reception. This 1 you can call it ,,phone''! Good 4 you Motorola!

  • I confirm the 5 days standby with a few calls.

  • excellent phone reception and battery life. simple phone that just works

  • This is simply torture. It wouldn't be surprising if someone of the Microsoft GUI department designed the entire phone, enslaving a bunch of engineers with some hellish spells. The keyboard is just awkward, the phone has no text anywhere in the interface - only icons, it seems it can't even reply to an SMS with any of the buttons. The display is two lines of ridiculously huge characters - a long cell phone number (xxx-xxx-xx-xx) won't even fit. To top it all off, the phone does not have a shift-key function (all letters are lowercase no matter what), and the phone ringer/speaker is ridiculously mute. Apparently this is targeted at either elderly people or people with exceedingly low intellect (though it does threaten with making anyone with a low intelligence even sillier). If anything ever deserved a 1/10 score, this is it. Maybe even 0/10. This phone has cost roughly 35 Euro here, and it was 70 Euro too much (in the very least).

  • dis fon suks.no mp 3 camrea no vid tonz,no is bad

  • For all the manufacturer claims of long battery life, my F3 lasts about 5 days with few calls. My Nokia 1100 lasts about 15. So much for the energy efficient new display technology.

  • Six characters of text maximum per screen!? Ridiculous - you have to scroll three screens just to read a phone number. A basic mono LCD screen as used on Nokia 1100 is superior to this pathetic screen in every way, and just as easy to read in strong sunlight. Just a shame they have all gone on to crap color screens now.

  • Bought this for an elderly, partially sighted relative who was having trouble with a dated nokia 3330 and she loves the F3. The large font size on the screen, ease of use of buttons (one touch no menus) to simply make and receive calls and send text messages, as well as being able to hear the options selected spoken back is excellent. This is a no frills phone, but that is the intention. Comparable to phones for the elderly market and people with vision problems, 15 is an excellent price tag. It's not perfect, but when the other 'accesible' phone alternatives are circa 350, Motorola are onto a winner.

  • Its the worst mobile ever! Do not buy this mobile. i just made a huge mistake of buying it, screen is v low standard. forget messenging or anything. i sold it after 1 - 2 mins. go for nokia or any other but dont dare buy this mobile!

  • I wouldn't have bothered had I known, as this is a mediocre phone. Screen scratches VERY easily (despite contrary claims from Motorola), battery life is a fraction of that quoted, screen is far too basic making SMS nigh on impractical. Call quality is however good, with nice audio tone from Earpiece. But go for the most basic Nokia instead - much better value and better in most every way.

  • Hi! I would like to know how to set the phone to send my phone number? Thanks in advance! Regards: Katona

  • LOL Yeah, I'm buying it too today. I agree, motorola rules on all cellphones except all their other phones. At last a cellphone, not a batman gadget! Thanks w00t!

  • one of my received SMS not readable and not deletable and handset got hanged also.

  • For calling only.. that for sure. SMS..use your other phone.

  • Hehehe. Nice simple phone. I am going to buy it tomorrow and it will be perfect with my a1000. Motorola rules. Except all other motorola phones, which are crap. LOL

  • The battery should last for more than 36 hours that's for shure. You should ask the service provider for instructions. The fact that the picture displays the date is strange because the phone in the video does not have it either.

  • My phone displays only time, not date.

  • Does your phone display the date under the clock like the one in the picture? Is there a setting for it?

  • Its batter empties within 36 hours even if not used. Is it normal ?

  • I still like this phone but it's a pitty that it does not sound the alarm when it's turned off and does not have the snooze function. I am not shure that I will be able to use it for daily routine.

  • very nice phone :)I have 2 weeks,and still like it !

  • I think this phone is great, it provides just the basic functionality that in fact is all you need from a phone, looks great, and it's cheap.

  • Just bought the f3c yesterday n love it...it really is simple, very simple. Had 2 get used 2 at first because we all have already been get used 2 technology. Perfect match with my a1000..;p

  • it cannot receive sms from siemens c65, and who knows from other phones too?

  • It's a very unique phone, thin and unusual display, good only for making an outgoing and incoming calls but it sucks for sms..

  • I found this fone is lack of features for "fun" but heck what do my parents need that feature of? They only need big, I mean REALLY BIG, letter on the screen and a good loud voice and ringing. No need for sms, just incoming and outgoing call will be perfect. :) therefor I think this is the best fone for them. Dont hate it so much for its not designed in your taste. Many -old- folks still appreciated it for the simplicity. :)

  • great phone for older people. free in romania, nice look too. but the light in the dark too poor.

  • can anyone tall me if is it good for just basic phone pls ?

  • It's nice if you go it 4 free I got one whit loiality points from Vodafone Romania looks nice but don't try to do any thing whit him just talk

  • The only justification for its price is its 4-letter name.

  • F is designed for developing markets and has some good ideas. But for UK it is poor value compared to low end Nokia, or to the basic Alcatel phones sold at Woolworths or Orange, which are attractive, smaller, colour screens etc. I was going to buy an F3 at fones4u(for my mum)but the one offered did not work. And I thought it ugly and clunky. It is not a cool fone, not a fashion statment

  • The best thing about the Motorola Motofone F3 cell phone is its beautiful design. That is the only thing about it that is good. Its worst feature is the extra large font size of letters that make it such a nightmare to read and write SMS messages --- in the process defeating the purpose for which its was supposedly designed to achieve: simplicity.

  • They should make an F3i with a 10 color display (pixel display) with slightly smaller characters. Nothing else, same simplicity, same low price. VERY NICE ~!

  • Hmmm... This Phone it's pooooooorrr

  • What was wrong with people who designed font for messaging? They should have had their eyes and sense of design (or luck of) tested. It's the most ridiculous font I have ever seen. Don't ever buy one!!!!

  • I'm not really sure why people complain about the feature of this phone as it only does phone calls & text messaging, that's about it. It looks cool & cheap. Ideal for young kids & old folks whom having the hard time reading or hearing. Not the best phone out there but it's brilliant!! I'm going to get one for business calls only. Simply the most simplistic phone with the most basic functions.

  • This phone was designed for people who wants basic mobile functionality (calls/sms) with no whistles, which is a good thing because there is a lot of us that rarely use the camera or dont need mms and other "fun" features. This phone does have a great battery life since it just contains to the basics.

  • Using this phone will cause you to have an aneurism, it is the most pathic excuse for a simple phone, there is nothing simple about its. text messiging is impossible, i sold mine within 24hrs. DONT BUY ONE

  • wow i'm in loved :)) ill soon change my w810i with this f3 :))) ..right...come on guys ...try nokia 1110i, 1112 , even nokia 1100, 1101 ..etc better life battery ..

  • This phone is probly intended to be used by older ppl and kids and for that purpose is great! Finally something I can buy for my mom. :)

  • My folks are seniors (bad eyes, veek hearing), Love this phone. Big screen, loud speaker - motorola hit bingo with this phone for older people.

  • The new Diallo's phone....

  • Thumbs up to motorola for a simple phone for people who would like uncluttered tech. My only frustration is it is not tri-band but for a 15.00 phone what do you expect.

  • I believe it is only good for basic voice communication, not good even for SMS

  • A very Nice phone..9mm .. in karachi it worth rs2000 which is Xtremely cheap.. best mobile for my little 11yr old brother

  • You might just as well drop all your coins down the local drain than use it to buy this phone. There are better phones. More use from a nokia 5210. Maybe Motorola will send their design team to the psychiatrists over this booboo be doo.

  • Nice desing but ugly and not user frendly fone...my other fone is broken ...a had no money and i buy this one....big mistake...sms messages hard to reed werry pour signal...etc. Buy a nokia ! the cheapest one is more better then this fone! Waste of money and nervs!!!

  • The fone is very sexy, but the face is ugly.. and the network is very weak. But i think its okey for people who cant afford expensive phones and for students. Goodluck with your try next time i think you will do better.

  • Can enyone tell me after how much time,(in average i talk about 15 min./day),have to recharge the battery, because mine doesn't last for more than 3 days and i wanna know if i have a loose baterry? For a phone who uses so little energy,3 days seems so little period.

  • Have you people praising this phone for its simplicity actually used the phone? Simplicity is one thing, complete un-user friendliness is another. My freind bought this phone, and was complaining of how un user freindly it was. I thought she was just not good with technology. Boy was I wrong. This would have to be the hardest to use, most frustrating device I've ever touched. If your after a simple phone, do yourself a big favour and go for a cheap bottom end nokia. Even the cheapest nokia you can your hands on will still be better than this.

  • Nice try motorola but not quite the right market. Maybe the phone was aimed at people working in desserts who need to see the screen in bright sunshine. SMS is problematic due to limitation on characters shown but if your after voice only maybe this can be excused. If your after a phone for quality ringtones then forget it once again its back to basics. Motorola should go back to the drawing board and 1) the black and white screen should be higher resolution with grey scale option. 2) minimum of 40 chord polyphonics and introduction of T9 texting with addition to dictionary to save (no itap just old multi tap entry) Also the battery life is very poor. Resale value is going to be none existant as its on sale for 15 by Phones4U so if you have to sell it on your going to be lucky to get 10 trade in from a store (privately its worth no more than 7.50 at a push).

  • ugly display font. hard to understand sms massage. i would prefer moto c115 than this phone although it had slim design. with a little more money, the moto c series are more reasonable to buy. especially, the new c119 :)

  • The handset looks nice but the texting is a joke. I bought one and took it back to the shop inside one day. If you just want to talk it maybe okay, I do not know why any company would waste their time making such a phone, its a joke.

  • i think i got this phone at amazing price.... around 30usd. i bought an export set. but phone is dam dumb dun use it for smsing!!!

  • Have had it for a few days now, and I like it very much. It's really just a phone. Just a good phone. The reception and sound are very good. The design approach is interesting. A very good "just a phone". Which is good in this ocean of over-featurized gadgets. Very cheap at 29 without lock. Thanks motorola for the first "think different" phone I've seen in a long while.

  • Even when using the new EPD display technology, the phone only offers a paltry 4.5 hours of talk time. The Motofone is designed for calling, period. Anything aside from that is just going to be an experience in frustration, including SMSing. The product doesn't justify the price its being offered at. I'm frankly quite disgusted at this cheap attempt by Motorola to market its phone at an exorbitant price to a niche based on it kewl name and kewl slim factor (RAZR, KRZR, SLVR anyone?). Pathetic.

  • Very bad phone , we should have a training to use a very basic phone it's stupid Very expensive for nothing it's 10$ phone not 50$!!!!!!

  • i forgot to say in romania i paid on it 50 usd ( the phone is whithout subscription to a mobile carrier )

  • bought this phone in romania, for my grandmother, she is very satisfied with it , the battery is very good and the display letter are very big, this phone is for people who want a phone just to speak on it ( and this represent in my opinion 40% of the total mobile users in the world )

  • ho ho ho ...april's fools indeed ..this thing just sucks ...motorola should be asqed for compensations ...i'm still in shock after seen this ugly thing ..and 74 $$ ?? for ?? better buy a 10$ walkie talkie ...or a calculator ..or a toaster..or...anything else has more functions

  • You could sell it? Lucky guy... I don't think anyone will buy it from me...

  • I bought this phone and sold it at less than half price after 24 hours. It is not a mobile phone but like a April Fool from Motrola. Some one should tell motrolla people, plz donot destroy your repute by marketing F3. It should be banned and compensation should be provided to the affectees of F3.

  • Hey people, stop comparing it to a calculator - it does NOT have a calculator function.

  • Nokia 1110i 10 grams heavier and almost double the thickness! Very uncool No thanks

  • Motofone (F3) is available in exclusive outlet (try Mustafa Centre) in Singapore and retails at S$75 (without line - no tie-up with telco). Bought it for the stylish designs and found out that its actually very easy to use after getting over the initial confusion on the navigation style the interface is designed. In fact, the functions are so basic and straight-forward thats why one have to get used to it! Major drawback is the SMS texting, it takes a long time because the display only allows six character at a time and some common basic characters (like ! $ % or &) are not able to be displayed and character like # is displayed as H because of the nature of the display system in fact the symbols or character its capable of displaying are these 4 characters -,?@ Otherwise a fashion worthy conversational piece, in every sense of the word.

  • 98 dollars in singapore

  • Great phone for elderly people.

  • This is simple phone for pensioners and people who not see very well because it has display with large numbers.

  • just a cheap calculator with a 75$ tag even calculators have more functions

  • i just bought this phone and the only problem i have with it is its so hard to send and recieve messages. becuase of the large font size when reading a message you only get one word at a time so you have to scroll through your message word by word. so very annoying for those who can read alot faster then that. all i wanted it for was to make calls and send messages altough it seems its only good for the calls.

  • hmmm....i think motorola wants to go bankrupt...this is truely a sick joke :)) i will buy one because it's slightly better than my pocket calculator :)) i still can't believe this

  • Only 300h stand-by time? I'd expect a bit more out of a phone with an e-ink display. They should have marketed this to be simple AND have great battery life

  • GREAT PHONE - I have been dreaming to this kind of phone since they began to desapear and get coloured and get stuffed like a circus -a mobile phone for artists and rebels -cool

  • damn ..:) u must be really hmm .."not smart" tu buy this thing ..i say thing cause is not a phone ..even my toaster has more functions!! a basic phone?!? is worst than a toy!! and ugly!! u want a basic phone? go for nokia 1110i, 1112 ,etc that are good basic phones ...motorola ur just a joke ..a bad one :(

  • from this i know what a nokia is...you are trying to compare a very high end phone of nokia with the most basic phone motorola has made. that is where you keep a NOkia phone.

  • this is the worst phone on the market at the moment. its like a calculater that can make calls, only its more difficult to use than a calclater. the display is supposedly easy to see...i disagree. it is the most user unfriendly phone ive ever seen

  • this is just a basic phone...and it is not fair to compare with N95

  • I have bought F3 for one week. Feel a bit disappointed with rather limited sms function and mono tone. However when looking at the manufacturing quality, I believe it is value for money, one that will serve the basic need and one you will not feel pain if you loose it. The phone has good reception, comfortable to put in shirt pocket. This is NOT the handphone for the young, business or professional. It is one for retiree, one who need a basic phone. I begin to like it and will keep it for sometimes until an improve version of F3 is available.

  • some one mentioned that the price tag of this semi-mobilephone is 160RM wich equal to 50$ i won't buy it for 10$ i have Nokia 1110i for 35$ only and it's better than this crappy phone it got real display long battery life and 4MB int mem it can play AMR audio and support USB cable

  • i have just bought this phone . its is a very good phone and hase a very good battery back up

  • What some of you aren't getting is the simplicity and style of the phone Remember it is made for third world countries - I believe there is even a bicycle powered charger for it. So - its slim. its light, its dustproof, its a lot tougher than it looks and it ONLY really makes and receives calls If you like it simple then this is perfect. As for getting on your hobby horse about other brands forget it. This is a stand alone innovative product. I am still very happy with mine and prefer it to my LG "Chocolate" which is just too fussy and VERY sensitive to the touch of warm fingers. The f3 is much more robust and simpler to use. Its a "no frills" phone with style, thats it. full stop.

  • I just got this fon last nite,it's about RM 160 and I paid for it's slimness.Quite comfy slot it in pockets or hand hold. I just dun understand why it has ",","?" & "@" but no fullstop sign when writing msg... Anyone one can help up?

  • pay an extra 10$ and get nokia 1110i or SE J100 they're better than this crap 100000times what was they thinking when they made this crappy display it's like a cheap 80's gameboy or a cheap calculater it's the stupidist phone in the history of cell phones think about writing sms it's almost immposible and what about night time the display in dark is not clear at all u can't even see it play the video section of this phone and it will explain every thing

  • ==================================== To: shou it's a phone that come with a good price tag, but still has its own style. i hope Motorola will make another Motofone series with more advanced features... :) ==================================== Like you wish will come true and of course the price not like "Motorola Fone". • is a very cheap phone to buy but the only problem is that not enough facility in the phone.

  • this is truly a funny phone, in terms of style motorola did a good job in its design but its features are rediculous.A phone as flat as this with better features would be a hit. But i must say that the signal on this phone is great never had a droped call.

  • plz help me can i forward messages plz help me out

  • hy! i have 2 questions. 1. is there any code to put the date to display? becouse when my f3's display at 'sleep' mode, it's show only the clock, but doesn't show the date :( 2. is there any way to make the display to not turn off or go to 'sleep' mode after i stop to pressing the buttons. 'cause, when i stop to push any of buttons, the display is going to turn off after 2-3 sec. can anybody help me? thanx!

  • Hi...please inform me about other phones with large fonts or adjustable font size. Thanks

  • The Phone Looks Great for People Who just need to Make and Recieve Phone Calls. Does this Phone have any technical issues. People who have been using this phone for some time now please post your experiences about any difficulties you may have encountered. Thanks...

  • Hello all:this is a mobile phone, not a MP3 player, camera or some other tech gadget. And this is very good, robust and nice looking mobile phone! I use it for a two week and I am really very satisfied. I also use Sony P990 regarding some bussines request, but I found myself very very to make calls with motophone. The only limitation is a no memory for phonebook. Therefore-good job Motorola!

  • PDLx Fonts on this phone can't be reduced. It is a problem for sms readers and senders. Specifications you have given are correct. I am also aware of that, but fonts are a problem with this phone. No doubt in it. Features you have listed can be treated as limitations of this phone. I am using this phone and as a user fonts are a drawback with this phone.

  • I have sold very few of these at my work, and the feedback has been mixed. Very good for a basic phone, but certain annoying details hamper its quality, i.e. the huge font size.

  • you can't text on it pretty much at all, but it's simple an easy to use for things like calls. very light, very stylish, I love the buttons! Good reception, good battery life, easy to read, large font...

  • =============================================== Achin Fonts on this phone cant be reduced. This gives a major problem while reading or writing sms. But , signal reception and voice quality is exceptionally good. =============================================== I think the fonts on this phone can't be reduced, not because a major problem while reading or writing SMS. I think because : Display Features: Type : Alphanumeric Size : 2 x 6 chars, 34 x 43 mm - Extra large character font size

  • DO YOUR RESEARCH. SUGGESTED APPROACH: 1. Decide specifucations you need 2. Check if this phone meets those requirements 3. Buy it or don't buy it IT REALLY IS THAT EASY

  • i m thinking to buy this fone

  • Fonts on this phone cant be reduced. This gives a major problem while reading or writing sms. But , signal reception and voice quality is exceptionally good

  • Can the font be reduced, its too big, i bought the phone last week, i like it but the font too big, can this be reduced. Please tell me if it can and how?

  • Strongest receiver? I think "Motorola F3" because has 2 antenna.

  • i want to buy this as my secondary fone.my only requirement is calling. i get v low signal reception in my area. plz suggest me a fone whih gives the strongest reception.

  • Nice phone, there are several videos on youtube showing this phone in action, the display's technology is a lot different than any other cellphone, remember it's a ultra low entry level cell phone... ultra cheap also... (got mine for US $30) check the video before you buy. EXCELLENT reception (I really really mean it) EXCELLENT speaker (Not joking!) It doesnt feel cheap at all, in fact, I love to hold this phone in my hand (first cell phone), other cell phones become loose, is not the case for this phone E-ink display (it's not lcd, so more durable) Nice battery life, don't expect 10 zillion of years, but it's above average My other cellphones are: SE k790 (current) k700 t106, Nokia 6230 6100 3220 1108, Motorola black v3, silver v3, LG chocolate. So you can tell what I'm comparing it with. Thanks.

  • This phone is not for geeks. This is for rugged and cheap phone preferable persons. Just for call .It has excellent speaker phone, awesome voice quality and Simplicity. Go for it if you want to go for cheap, rugged, simple phone otherwise its not meant for u. I purchased it recently. I have some high end phones also and this one also. I luv it for its simplicity. speaker phone can be activated by pressing 'up' sign key twice while on call.

  • i wonder if this phone is worth buying? what do you advise me to do?

  • Singapore? In "Motorola Singapore" website doesn't has "Motorola F3". In Indonesia has "Motorola F3" for GSM (Sin$ 100) and "Motorola F3C" for CDMA. (Sin$ 120).

  • It lacks dot (.) for texting It lacks descent backlighting that's all

  • hi this mobile is very silem and sexy his screen is very large and big font.Ringh vol. is very powerfull.

  • Simply the best cellphone that i ever had. its just a phone, no more. heheheheh

  • This is very nice set.i and my all friends like it.

  • I've got me one of these and i must say that i use ot more than my Nokia N70. Why, because it is slim, simple and it's battery last longer. I've doped it i've bend it and it still works... very handy phone for @ work and sports :) and that just for EURO 35,00 (in my country, the netherlands)? i love it !!!

  • i have it on my desk , it`s a great phone simple , light , just for a talk ;)) nice one moto !!!

  • This is the best, unique, stylish and most sexiest phone Motorola has ever built in design and shape, but there is one (least) problem about it and that's its features, I personally think some upgrade should be done to the features! but the shape and design should never change. Its the most sportiest phone EVER! CONGRATS TO MOTOROLA!!!

  • I just bought the F3, after owning a Razr (which, for some unknown reason, I didn't like much) this is quite a step in the other direction. But I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. I think I've figured out almost everything it offers (didn't take long) except I can't figure out what the little symbol is by the # button. It looks like three coins stacked. When I press and hold it, an H comes up on the screen. What is this key? please help.. anna

  • does this phone have colour screen?

  • I just had the CDMA version of this phone (F3c - silver). This phone is great! It teaches me to realise that a phone is a phone - a tool to make and receive phone calls. For that purpose, I think F3/F3c is doing great! Well done, Motorola. :-)

  • It's great! Stylish sexy and With NO Monkey business!

  • can anybody tell mr how many sms f3 can store...............

  • OK it is a smooth phone, I have one but... but it has its limitations - You cannot programme the speed dail which options only the first six numbers on your SIM which you cannot re order. The speed dail is limited to the first 99 numbers on your SIM card (which hilds over 200 numbers) You cannot edit or erase any SIM number once it is in the phone Apart from that it is a great piece of design, the speakephone is excellent and easy to use, the battey life is good but nothing like claimed. All in all a real value for money phone if you want it simple, no camera, no games, no wallpaper, no music. Its back to the future!

  • Does anybody not appreciate the fact that this phone is excellent for the visually impaired of this world. All credit to Motorola for taking such a bold step

  • is it easy to write and read messages with the f3? when you send a message does it go in the send folder? and if if does is there an option on the phone to stop it?

  • It looks like such an awesome phone - almost perfect - until you read its specifications. LOL. It's a joke. Disappointing for those who fell hard for the looks, only to find it doesn't have a brain.

  • this phone is like a kids toy.flimsy and not particuarly easy to use.what are motorola playing at????

  • hi i got dis fone yesterday and i was wondering can i download games on to it and can i put a walwapper on da front cover and by da way can i download ringtones ps. plz reply

  • Answers to a few questions:- >can any body help me in finding how to ON/OFF the speaker phone - i mean i wanna listen to the menu options...... To activate speaker in a call, press the up arrow twice when the speaker icon is displayed. Press again to cancel. To turn the voice prompts on, dial ***510* up arrow (or 511 to turn off). Or pull the battery so it asks you the startup questions again. > can anybody tell me how to forward a massage in this stupid phone?ill give u tis one as a prize If you mean SMS, you can't. To forward calls, dial the GSM codes for you network operator, e.g. shown at > Is it possible to increase and decrease the volume of the ringtone on this F3? thanks At the main screen (no icons showing - if they are, press the red key), press up/down on the joypad to set the maximum volume. This will also select silent, silent+vibrate or max volume+vibrate. All F3 tones, prompts and alerts volumes start off quiet and are ascending - this cannot be changed fro safety reasons. The F3 uses a single speaker for calls and ringtones. So a loud tone could easily damage your hearing if you were holding it to your ear at the time. Hence why more expensive phones have a separate ringtone speaker on the side or back. > does anybody know how to program speed dialing ? Just press and hold the number corresponding to the first 10 slots in your phonebook. > My MOTOFONE is locked... I cant install a SIM card because it wont work. It always shows the error sign, and never has signal. Help me... > Help, please. Why is it that i got an error (the X at the top) when I try to make a call? Also, the antenna signal is dead. By the way, I was using using a SIM card from another cell phone. You've probably blocked the SIM by entering the wrong PIN. Get the unlock code (PUC) from your operator and unlock in another phone.

  • This mobile has dual antenna.

  • Such a cute phone!!!

  • can any body help me in finding how to ON/OFF the speaker phone - i mean i wanna listen to the menu options......

  • the hardiest phone i found, it may work even if a car run over this. your child will not be able to break it. this is phone to make calls, not to impress others or show ur status. it has very battery life and powerful antena.

  • great this is the one!

  • hello can anybody tell me how to forward a massage in this stupid phone?ill give u tis one as a prize

  • u better not keep a cell phone then buying this one.this is the worst phone i ve ever used.

  • this is very very very cheap phone in this world.. size is so big and the menu system is really bad look like just a toy .. i asking to every one plz dont buy this at all

  • its not a bad phone , but its not the best to bring off the name motorola . its kinda wierd to understand and very difficult to catch upon, especially for someone who doesn't know much about phones. however people dont like it cause they think its a slvr L6/L7.

  • If someone know ..please get answer. Is it possible to increase and decrease the volume of the ringtone on this F3? thanks

  • does anybody know how to program speed dialing ?

  • i have received the Motorola MOTOFONE F3' s manual on request from motorola india by mail.the same i have upoloaded on rapidshare cheers

  • My MOTOFONE is locked... I cant install a SIM card because it wont work. It always shows the error sign, and never has signal. Help me...

  • Help, please. Why is it that i got an error (the X at the top) when I try to make a call? Also, the antenna signal is dead. By the way, I was using using a SIM card from another cell phone.

  • If I'm not mistaking the Motofone F3 was created for people that are blind, If you want you could make some research on it, that's why it got voice command and it's own ussd codes, not gsm codes ( that are universal) but own F3 codes, also you can navigate in it by your voice, it's cheap , was not ment for people with strong demand, personally I would never buy this phone , considering that I'm used with Hi Hand phones, but If you just wanna talk and not spend alot of cash then go 4 it. And also it got 2 internal antennas probably you'll get great coverage with it

  • I recently got this phone; looks great and was advertised as having a calculator by my service providers, but up to now i can't find it!!Please Motorola, the font size makes me feel BLIND! And next time (well, there won't be a next time) don't make something so BORING

  • Now I Can conclude F3 screen luminate in the dark. Next question still comes from screen. does F3 has GUI(Grafik User Interface) or the screen just show alphanumeric character? anyone plz tell me...

  • For me this phone lacks only good, strong backlight. Can anyone tell me (please) are there any more setup codes (I mean the codes in ***XXX* format) than those written in the maual?

  • this fone must have forwarding msgs option. but i want to give my opinion to Motorola plz dont make such a borring fone again.

  • I was searching a mobile for my Dad. he need a mobile just to talk, even he not needed sms. moto fone is the a best choice for me, with less price, good talk time, and the slick design. i'm fashionated about moto.

  • hi simply good fone in less price

  • Hi, I just bought this phone yest. and I love it. Honeslty I just bought it for the beautiful design and the cheap price. I can safely say that it is indeed the cheapest, most beautiful phone. Sure it has its downsides, several, but its nothing that you can't get over or get used to. I do have a problem though... I need the manual, in english if someone would be so kind as to send it to me to my email... [email protected]... Either that or if you could tell me how I can change the tone or at least the loudness of the message tone. Thats the only problem that I have with it. I am never quite sure when I received I message unless I constanly look at it. Thanks a lot, and if anyone is interesed in this phone... get it, its cheap and you'll have the sexiest, rarest phone around!!!

  • mike orient Can you find a new mobile any brand mobile with feature like you want (can SMS Messages, Opera Browser, Wi Fi, Color Screen, bluetooth, excellent call quality and long battery life) just for US$20 or US$30. I give you US$100 if you can find a new mobile any brand mobile with features like you said with price US$20 or US$30.

  • LOL, some of you are pathetic. "motofone sucks, i can't send SMS messages." "i can't use my opera browser." "what, moto, no WiFi?" "horrible, no color screen and font is big." can you not look at the picture to your left and determine that this phone isn't made for those things? it has a big font for EASY READABILITY. you can look at the e-paper ink display and see that this isn't good for browsing web pages and it's not meant to be used with a bluetooth headset. this is a durable, no holds barred phone with excellent call quality and long battery life with an easy to read screen under the most powerful of sunlight. that's ALL Motofone is meant to be. it's for developing markets, not fat rich europeans who want something thin and stylish.

  • its a awesome phone for the price! here in India its available for 1300rs thats abt $29 US !!

  • Nice design... Nice innovations... Nice price... Come on... Thinking with make sense. Get real... You buy cheap, you got cheap features. You buy expensive, you got expensive features. This "Motorola F3" created for "Entry Level" (Entry End), not for "Low End". In Australia, we don't need SMS because calling is cheaper than SMS. In India purchased a couple of Motofones just for US$37.50 so US$18.75/each. Where you can find that cheapes mobile?

  • I got this phone as a spare phone, and it is woeful. Only for calling, sms is impossible, you can only view 2 words in the sms at the one time, because the font is so f#$@king large.

  • I think this is a very bad phone. I agree it is dirt cheap but it is much cheaper than it is worth, trust me. No facility to edit messages and forward them, no games, the messages are in such big font, that you will not want to read them at all, it is so difficult to use, no calculator, the menu is over before it even starts, no gsm, nothing absolutely. Makes no sense, i might as well purchase a digital diary or a pager man. Horrible, awful, pathetic, i wouldnt recommend it even to my worst enemy!!!!!

  • well, this is amongst the cheapest phone available in maket. lets first respect it. n people wud expect it to have a multi colour display, 3 megapixel camera.... gimme a break guys.... its a phone meant to be a 'phone' thats it. A Best Buy, definitely... to send n recive calls, texts..what else, awesome looks, it rocks ! don't think, just buy.

  • Congratulations... 3GSM Association already choose : Best Ultra Low Cost Handset Motorola - MOTOFONE F3 Read this =>

  • this is an excelent mobile if no one doesnt have this mobile he/she wasting time and money ......its an super mobile

  • The motofone F3, is ment for two basic things 1- Call handling (send and recieve) 2- SMS Send and Recieve. Nothing Else. It really has a cool look. A normal battery life, where as having EPD its supposed to have an outstanding battery life. E.g. in my case I need a full recharge every 4th or 5th day, standby time without a single call. Even with 100% signal strength. May be a higher mAh battery will do the job better. The EPD display is 13 segment. It should be a dot matrix. With 13 segment it handles all chracters as lower case by default(internally), and display few upper and few lower case letters. e.g. AbCdEFGHIJKLMNoPQRSTUVWxyZ And few punctuation marks are not readable. This makes an SMS a headache to read. It uses the SIM memory for SMS and Address Book. Amazingly it cannot save a sent ment message, so that you cannot remember which SMS you have sent. The menu or settings doesnot have any such option as well. It has special shortcut for doing certain stuff like, ***250* by dialing this you can turn the key pad voice ON, and by dialing ***251* you can turn it off. The manual need to be learnt by heart ! The menu is intutive but doesnot have all the everyday use options, like the phone cannot support a hold, a call reditrect etc etc etc ... It goes fine in the dark as well, EPD being non-luminant the key-pad light is thrown to the screen from the sides of the display that makes it little darker from the center. But its easily readable in the darkness. The call history cannot be deleted, either one by one or at once, need to put another SIM and put back your SIM to loose the call history. Thats another strange feature besides SMS. All in all, the phone is good, its cost should be 25$ not more. It will really worth for $35+ with a dotmatrix display rather then a segmented. --Uzair

  • this is the worst fone motorola has ever made.this is strange tht it has no menu in it.i know tht it is very cheap but there have 2 b a standard of a mobile.i have used this cell only 3 days.bad mobile=moto fone F3

  • the fone is cheap & best

  • Oops.. looks like its available in USA after all.

  • I really like its simplicity! I would definetely buy one if it was available in USA.

  • That's not true... there's a backlight, but it's dim in the center, and well lit in the edges. Here's an example:

  • this is a great fone in cheap sets. only one thing that bugs is 'no backlight'. yes folks this smart fone has no back light so nothing to be seen in dark.

  • can anybody help me. how to activate t9 dictionary in dis fone to sms?

  • Hi everyone! could you tell me how efficent is the battery from the F3, i mean which is the length average of it?

  • steven: The first 3 ringtones don't seem to be hindi related. I have a total of 7 ringtones. I use ringtone #2 which is a plain ringtone. Nothing special. It is possible that I have hindi ringtones, but I'm not from India so I can't tell for sure. I'll see if I can record all my ringtones with my sisters digital camera. I'll upload to youtube if I'm successful. No promises on this, ok? I'm not sure if my sisters camera can record audio. Compass.

  • hey compass what r the 1st 3 ringtones u have on ur phone, coz on my phone the 1st 3 tones are from some hindi movies, coz i bought this phone in india...and i never came across any phones till today which have tones like these preloaded.. thanks in advance....

  • STEVEN: As far as I know it is not possible to delete the call history. Entries will be deleted automatically. I currently have 14 entries (a mix of made and received calls). Compass.

  • hey compass is it possible to delete the call history or can i delete each and every call one at a time... THANKS IN ADVANCE....

  • hey compass is it possible to delete the call history or each and every call... thanks in advance....

  • hey compass i bought this phone from india and i seen that it has 3 ringtones from hindi movies which r pre installed and i haven't come across any phones till today which have hindi songs pre installed unless we download them, can u tell me what r the 1st 3 ringtones u have on ur cellphone ??? thanks in advance....

  • this fone is great for ruff use.... but i think this fone should have GPRS.... though im happy to get this fone at very cheap price in bangladesh... thaks.... :D

  • why don't everyone read the review on the google as every bit of info is available there and then pass the comment. with half knowledge passing a comment makes the person look like a joker. Moto Fone F3 is just meant to be a phone. if one needs to understand, in my clear words you can take the following advantages from this phone: 1. You can make a call (local & international) 2. You can receive call (local & international) 3. You can send SMS. 4. You can receive SMS this model is dedicated to the people who don't need any other facilities from a phone. i hope atleast now people who are visiting this site would understand well. i am sure even if a parrot is reading this coloum would definetely understand the simplicity of this phone.

  • gr8v desing but no features before i wold buy this phone i want wap a color screan

  • It is so crap!!!! OMG it has no features the functions are stocko, Crap all round there is no manuel big enough to explain this to me. anyone who buys it is definatly a charlie.

  • I haven't tried adding ringtones to this phone. The ones that came with mine are suitable enough for me. I suggest calling your service provider and asking them the proper way to do it. Again, the rather poor user manual does not help. I hope Motorola releases a better version of the users manual soon. As for your screen, mine is the same (I've just checked). The screen is illuminated from the sides, so the center is darker. I believe this is normal, since it does not make the screen that harder to read. The EPD display is not like CRT/TFT. It does not illuminate, but needs to be illuminated, hence it's darker. Compass.

  • this is the SEXIEST phone in the world

  • hey compass i would appreciate if u can tell me whether or not if i can add some more ringtones to this phone by any other ways and in the dark, only the 2 sides of the display r bright whereas the center display is a lil bit dull, so is it normal or is my phone faulty.. hey thanks in advance ...

  • you like the design??? honestly?? looks like a candybar of crap to me.....

  • Well everyone have there own opinion about this handset but people first see its price then go for its specifications. I mean in $35 what you are wanting GPRS/Conference Calling/Memory Card........! Its just for calling & sending sms.

  • This phone is F'd! wot is motorola thinking?! I work in a phone shop in australia, people that only have a budget of $50 for a mobile, arnt the best with technology!! YOU PAY PEANUTS, U GET PEANUST!!

  • The Motofone F3 itself has no SMS storage capability. It relies on your GSM CHIP capacity. If you have this phone you can verify that there is not an option for you to choose between storing phone numbers on the phone or on the GSM CHIP. Again, it all depends on your GSM CHIP. Don't expect it to save SMS on the phone. Compass.

  • F3 is stupid motofone. Do not waste your time and money over it.

  • can somebody who has used tell me about sms storage capacity?

  • Guys, this phone is very simple and doesn't have many options, it is used to talk and send messages. Cheap, i got it for less than $50 usd including a few phone calls and no contract. Do I like it? I like the design but the functions are bad and the display should be better, but it was a great solution during my travels in Mexico city.

  • can you please send the manual of motorola f3 because i need this information for my job please

  • can someone please tell what is the phone memory. but any ways L7 motorola had software problem i hope that this one is ok.Its pathetic

  • Can somebody tell me wht is the phonebook size i.e. 250 or 500 contacts.. Thanks in advance

  • good phone, nice keypad, solid build.

  • i'd like know where i find the F3 Motophone manual (in english). Anyone can help me? Thanx

  • pla give a manula on net ...plz plz plz

  • hi i got my phone in $35 this phone is too goooood in whole world there is such phone liker this nokia in idot making any thing rebish phone idot guy motorola is great great in cell phone market byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • F3 is worthless avail 25$,whats the point whenagainst cheap price u sacrifice all basic facilities like n 112 nokia 4mb internal all basics we r used for years. The price 40$ includ spker.every tom dick ad harry is holding its wast distinction, people ask when its come down to 10$.SHAME

  • i'd like know where i find the motofone's manual( in english)! who can help me?

  • ABySS: You're welcome. I can't help with the call waiting. If the F3 can do it, I don't know how. The manual says nothing about that. Compass.

  • Compass Thanks...Man.... Call waiting is the feature when you are attending a call and while you are talking... another person can call you and you here a beep... then if you want you can swap between two calls.....

  • Hey Thanks Compass........ Call Waiting ... is a word what we use around in Banglasesh..... This is the option when you are on a call another person can call you and you can swap between two calls......... Can you do something about it???

  • ABySS: It might be possible to display the date along with the time, but the user manual does not help on this matter. I'm guessing that the date is mainly for registering when you make or receive a call, or get a SMS. If I discover how to display the date on the screen saver I'll post the instructions. About the call waiting could you rephrase? I don't understand what you want to do. Compass.

  • Can anybody tell me how can I switch on call waiting???

  • I cant see any date ..... how can i bring up when the phone is idle???

  • this is a cheap L7 with no feachers

  • Compass: Thanks a lot. Hehe... :-) Jayne..

  • here is your beloved english manuel in pdf format

  • I think this phone is simply awful. The only good thing about it is the design. Before i can get into the menu, the menu ends. NO FACILITY TO FORWARD MESSAGES!!!!!!!! The message text is so huge that you will be lucky if you can see two full words in one line. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! BUY A CALCULATOR INSTEAD, IT IS BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY!!!

  • jayne: ***520* Compass.

  • a calculator?

  • May i know how to change it's language? I've selected chinese when i first entering this phone. However, when i want to change the sound to english, i found out that is no way for me to change it. Can somebody help me?

  • This is a very nice phone... Very cheap good design and the best in its class. Got the phone 2 weeks back and charged only 2 times now.. battery always full :-).. Way to go MOTO... Can any one please give a weblink for manual in English plzzzzz

  • Here it is Djalma, the portuguese version: rapidshare.com/files/13097195/Motorola_F3_Motofone.pdf.html Compass.

  • Can i get complete user manual for this phone in english or portuguese?

  • hello ppl, this phone costs abt 1700 INR and therefore it was not meant for those elite people or any other ppl of that sort.. just making a call with a good signal receiving capability is what the engineers did. We all need to appreciate the maker for such a common thinking and ppl dont abuse whatever ur requirements be..

  • I have bought this fone 2day its ok but I would have appreciate if the size of characters on Screen would have been a little small & also more characters could have been fitted in a line, otherwise this is a good fone & sound is like a lod speaker body is stylish & looks all & all its great fone for people who like to Talk Talk & Talk & for the rest.guys please check other phones as this is not meant for u

  • A great AND cheap phone if you want to talk and talk and talk and do a bit of SMS. If you need something more than this, you must look elsewhere.

  • I used this mobile. This mobile is piece of crap I thought it that m using a calculater in my hands i was unable to find how to open its menu than at last after 10 mins i found that how to open menu. don't buy this mobile it is designed just to listen call. can't read n write msgs. S**T phone

  • Can i get user manual for this phone in english?

  • Hey, Juan, could you tell me where you bought the phone? Wow, 40 dollars. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Wow, what a great phone, I bought it 3 days ago, I already talk 4 hours and the battery still full, the speaker phone is great, is the best speakerphone, is loud and clear, very simply and stylish, very thin, If motorola keep this line with color display and camera, be sure will be a great sucess, this phone is just to call, the only cons, is when you read or send messages, is hard... but is the only cons.. great desing, excelent reception, great spekerphone, amaizing phone for just 40 dollars.

  • Information wrong about Motorola F3 in GSMARENA. About: Vibration = YES Calculator = NO Alarm = YES Voice Help = YES Phone Out = YES I like this simple Cell.

  • The F3 does not store SMS. All SMS will be stored on your GSM CHIP, so the amount of messages will depend on your GSM CHIP capacity (which is obviously shared will other information like your phone list). Compass.

  • its an super mobile i was using this mobile 6months i feel comfort in this price range no other mobile manufacture has....

  • hi guys the new motorola f3 mobile phone is too good to use for the persons who is looking out for a simple mobile phone with good looks and at cheap price .this phone is very sleek and it also looks very sexy .and 1 more thing what i noticed is if this phone even falls frm ur hand it dosent give u any problem it wrks normally ,i suppose its a non breakable phone. too good to use .if ur looking out a mobile with cheap price or planning to keep a additional phone than f3 is the right choice.and all of this its weightless,it dosent give u a feeling that u have something in ur pocket.worth to buy

  • The manual for this phone in English is located here:

  • hi can any 1 tell me that how much sms can b stored in this (motorolaf3)phone bcos i m looking forward to buy it

  • I haven't found a manual for it in english at direct.motorola.com/Hellomoto/nss/support_manuals.asp?Type=phone Worth checking later for sure. If you ask to read its manual before buying (if you go to an actual store) you can get a good idea on what this phone has to other, which isn't much. It's been build to be simple, so don't expect advanced features and critisize it because it lacks this or that. No wonder it's cheap. It was built with that purpose. People in developing countries can't afford to spend much on cell phones when they have to consider the bill size. That being said, don't buy this phone because of its looks. It's featureless (but innovative), hence low price. Compass.

  • hi salam and namaste all off u guys im buy this phone yesterday and isell it today bcause its not a good phone do not buy it i buy it and sell it today and im lost my aprox 950 rupees aprox 17$ here in pk its price is 2300 sonyericsson j100i i plan to buy this one is beter then motofonef3

  • F3 is made n India, definately, its too simple beyound imagination,Nokias 1100 series at least r decent with internal mem good menu plus available same price moto is always behind, the days of click razor sucess has made it over confident, its still 4th rated name n the world as against its products line. The american image is its biggest drawback.

  • Realy good choice for those who need simple phone... Nevertheless, I'm still looking for manual - in english :)

  • It's the best phone if calling and messaging are the most you need from your phone. Slim and sleek design, loooooong looong talk time. Good phone to buy. Cheap.

  • Guys!! I am planing to buy one... What do you advice?

  • Here in Peru, Motofone F3 will launched this weekend by Claro (America Movil Peru).. It look great, I have a SE W810, but I think to buy one of them as secondaty phone...

  • Keypad autolock: Press ***260* followed by the "Action key". To Deactivate it, press ***261* and the "Action key". About the manual... i have the Brazilian Portuguese version.

  • Anyone knows where to find manual? Thanks...

  • The worst mobile phone ever! What else can I say? Its display looks like my old VCR...

  • j9av: I didn't search for the F3 overseas, because I wouldn't know if it would work in my country. Luckily Brazil is being supplied, so I bought it rather quick. I suggest you use search engines, ebay and the menu on the left called "Check Price". Compass.

  • Compass, could you list all the stores you know are selling the Fone below 50 dollars, and shipping to United States? I'm really interested, and I know it doesn't work on the USA, but I don't live there.

  • Also have a look at this nice page from the developers of the F3: direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motofone/experience/experience/index.html Don't forget to read the Full Specs. Compass.

  • for user who are un aware this phone does have vibration and i can say this cause i am using it.

  • Design is really cool. nice sound quality and durable. screen is a bit funny but overall the fone is good.

  • It does have vibration. I own one and can confirm it. If you still have doubts, download its manual. Why make such a phone? Read this: [add 3w's].theregister.co.uk/2006/12/28/reg_mobile_heroes_villains/ I'll quote a part: "It's a low cost phone aimed at the developing world that, amazingly, doesn't look crap." Compass.

  • Its the damn same thing which I owned on '99. Motorola T180. Same features,No Vibration,Two line display.. Cam anyone explain me why is Motorola going into its past???????????

  • This phone is great, for people that travel to much for the battery life, for people they just want a phone, nothing more. Is great. I had expensive phones, full of features, but this phone, looks good, call sound is great, of course the display is ancient, but is great for me because I just want to call. and is very cheap 45 dollars in Mexico.

  • This is a cool phone. Now a days carrying a cell phone is a liability to the "snatchers" (Karachi). This is a great secondary phone. For persons interested in new technology and stuff. The UI is not too simple, outbox is missing and hard to distinguish between dialled / recieved calls. I think as it names says it is made with the concept of "Phone" not a "cell-phone".

  • j9av: I bought it at [add 3w's].extra.com.br/interna_1.asp?category=catCelularAvulsoCLARO since I live in Brazil. I've seen it here at local stores for the same price (R$99.00) which is something around US$46.00 ([add 3w's].xe.com/ucc/) The battery is lasting something between 5 to 7 days. I believe this is low because where I work the signal is weak, so it drains the battery more than it should, and I'm fiddling constantly with it. Would it last around 12 days? I think so, if left on standby/alone and in a place with a strong/decent signal. This is my second phone. I had a Motorola C139 before for a short period of time, and the F3 is superior in matters of battery time. And by the way, since the F3 has fewer features, if you have games and such on your chip they won't work. The F3 will ignore non-supported features, so you'll have to put the chip back on your older phone in order to access them. Before you buy the F3 be sure that it will work in your country. If the links above don't work e-mail me compassnet[at]gmail.com I have more links, and I've even seen a video on the F3 (I'd have to search, but it probably was at YouTube). Compass.

  • Compass: Could you tell me where you bought it? I'd really appreciate it. Also, what do you think about the battery? Does it last as much as it says? Especially, compared to other low-consumption old phones, can you see the difference?

  • you can set the date but after setting it you cannot view it. and if you cant view the date then whats the point of putting the date as a feature.

  • 1. It was made of EPD display. Kinda of candidate for furture "flexible display"! 2. Besides, EPD is a bi-stable mode display with very low power consumption! 3. Maybe it looks stupid with only 2 gray levels (black & white) but it is easy for your old parents, grandparents to read such a "BiG" pixel display ! Most of them would prefer dial only operation mode instead of lots variety functions. Just go find some older ppls. to ask their opinionS

  • Annie: Yes, it can vibrate. It is meant to be just a phone, nothing more. That is overpriced indeed. I got mine for a little more than US$40. Compass.

  • This fone should be sold in supermarkets, yes. Its buttons are hard to use and but it is the fone for the common man. Costs Rs 1600/- in india...well, this is the fone for the cab drivers!!

  • HaHa... Would people actually buy this crap? there are NO features. the darn thing can't even vibrate!!! omg!! it's unbelievable... and it gets evn better guys: it's selling at US$109.99

  • This phone come in a paper can type box. With its poor features should be sold in supermarkets instead of phone shops. Poor menu, hard for most people to find how it is working, BAD LCD.

  • Motophone rules in pakistan, Com'on ppls, buy it

  • I am really looking for a cool phone with NO CAMERA and NO BLUETOOTH. It is such a pain to live under restrictions but thats what I am faced with and I am sure others are as well. Could this be the answer? I am really hoping so.

  • may i know how much it cost? its very ideal phone for those people that only needs phone for texting and calling..

  • meboz: Yes, you can send SMS with this cell phone, but it will not store the messages you send. Only the ones that you get can be stored. The quantity of SMS that can be stored depends on your CHIP capacity (mine is 64KB if I'm not mistaken). Maria: If you press "up" or "down" on the scroll button (or whatever it is called) you can adjust the volume for incoming calls and incoming SMS. While at it if you press the white arrow button (above the green button) you can activate or deactivate the vocal menu. SMS storage capacity depends on your CHIP, since it does not store messages on the phone itself. Compass.

  • I bought this phone, its sound quality is far supiror, and signal stregnth is great. I would recomand this phone if you don't care about b/w screen or good looking icons etc..

  • Tell me 1 reason.Just 1 reason ....!!! Why a man would like to buy this dam thing. its useless.Only looks won't do moto.Content and quality is iportant along with it, and this phone(??) lacks it badly.

  • I bought the phone today.ALL that I needed was a handset that would enable me to send n receive calls. It is superb on that.Awesome signal strength.Great reception. Excellent sound quality.Who botheres abt ringtones and displays etc etc? Not me.Vive Motorola.

  • This phone is dual band and comes in 2 versions, one for 900/1800mhz networks and other with 850/1900mhz that works in US.

  • this phone is the cheapest in india just$35(1600Rs) for that money really worth

  • Are there any message alert tones for this cellphone,I bought a piece yesterday and it only beeps at a very low sound, can i increase the volume of a newly recieved message alert tone and what is the storage capacity of total SMS in this mobile phone.

  • It is the slimest phone in motorola It is the cheapest copy of L7 motorola It is dam Best.Ultra edition smart cell phone. I love it ummmmmmm, uahhhhh

  • This phone is feakin ugly. Motorola cannot seem to master slim, stylish phones that deliver. Loooking at the specs for this..c'mon. No vibration for ringers...how hard is that to put on a phone??, No card slot, no GPS, no EDGE, no USB, bluetooth, no 3G..it goes on and on and on.... What do you have to brag about?? Plus this phone is damn slow...

  • Well, can a person sms from this cell phone? Does Aitel support it in India? How mansms can b stored in this cell phone? my main criteria is calling and recieving calls and sms'ing, and storing the sms's. Can this cell do this? does it have these options?

  • 1) It has vibrate capabilities 2) LED backlight 3) Box/tube says GSM 900/1800 4) It is not seeing T-Mobile where I am located in the US. I am going to head into town to see if it's just my location. Seller on eBay said it'd work with T-mobile... 4) Nice... will never effectively use the text capabilities, didn't get it for that.

  • hey cold byte what do u think ur self u r.. what the hell is c118 hmmmmmmmm......... moto fone is the motorolla's slimmest fone in pakistan it is just for rs 2400...... so c118 is rs 2300................ so which one must be better............. so please vote this fone 10 10 10 plzzzzzzzzzzz.......................... for god sake................ plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...................

  • futurestic........ its really funny if u dont know anything so dont post ur opinions no joke here

  • ali raza is right vote it it a great fone vote it it is only for rs 2400 in pakistan so vote it its 8.3 mm thick and it is having vibration system it has 32 channel of polyphonic tones it weighs 67 grams exact with battery vote it pleaseeeeeeeeeee..................

  • Hi Luis ([email protected]).. The phone is only 900 & 1800 & thereby would not function on 1850 Band. Also all phones nowadays auto switching between bands. So if your phone supports a particular band, it would automatically com into that mode. I had to sell of my phone at half price today :( I was really really tired of typing messages which you cannot read in full in one go & plus no outbox. Also no distinction between received & missed calls.Plus one thing is for sure that Moto's claim for 900 mins Talk time is fake ! My phone on full charge lasted only 100 mins of talk time ! I think this one is going to get some bad rapport for Motorola. Also this is the first MADE IN INDIA handset.. Lost INR 800 in 10 days .. Really sad...

  • I found this fone very good. I like it and it is a next generation fone ok. so plz vote it.

  • Motofone looks like a calculator which is *also* a phone. The way its display is with its 2 rows of old calculator style fonts, it should be priced at 20 US $ or less. Sure the display has a cool new technology called EPD instead of LCD but come on, this isn't a high-school project to have an ancient style 2x6 char display. For 40 US $ Motorola ought to make the display atleast similar to its C118 phones (multi-line array of pixels) which retail for 40 US $ too but are an older design in terms of their body. Hope these suggestions reach you Motorola.

  • motorola will be launching world's smallest phone which will measures 5 x 5 x 1.1 mm in the year 2010 and along with it they are going to give one Microscope free.

  • I just need to clarify this- Will this phone work in the US? I read below that it will not, but I don't understand this given that the phone works on GSM 850/1900 and GSM 900 / GSM 1800 which both work in the States (Cingular and T-mobile).

  • if someone offer me a free handset of this sure i'll say no. i tell u all guys dont go for this handset. Mototorola pls stop production of this handset.

  • dont buy anyone on this handset. last week i bought one and within one hour i gave back to the handset. The display is f****ing yaar. i dont know why motorola launch a handset like this.

  • I got the phone couple of days ago. Price is very less (Indian Rs 1600) so is the feature. - User cannot differentiate between missed call and attended incoming call from call list. - User cannot have call duration for any number in call list. - NO Calendar, NO Reminder, Limited Ring tones - NO outbox for messages. User cannot save message as draft. NO T9 - Phone has NO memory for Phone book or Messages. Everything is stored to SIM card. Otherwise very stylish and simple phone; so dont expect much from it. If you have already used mobile having extra features, you can have this phone as secondary phone not your primary phone. Phone is meant for first time phone user with phone use limited to make/receive calls/message nothing more. However it is (less) value for (less) money.

  • Yes, it does have backlight.

  • For those who got the MOTOFONE: Is there a backlight for the eInk ClearVision display? I like the high contrast big display but it would be useless in the dark without a backlight. Thank you.

  • i think it is bets mobail in this price but its memory is too low and louder is not too loud i hope motoorlla will be launch its new and more usefull virsion but but its grear affort vry smart desent and good loking phone plz improve the memory

  • This is a Dual Band phone and will not work in USA with any Carrier.

  • This phone looks nice but has the most stupidest menu layout. The moto engineers needs to get more training on human Interface and the menu layout. If MOTO is targeting this phone for mega markets like India/China/Pakistan then they should have known better that there is high illiteracy rate in these countries and the menu is like a 70's calculator. Long way for Motorola to learn from its competitors. Stupid Engineers should be fired who did the UI of the phone.

  • hi can anyone tell me what about SMS is it readable can U send and recive SMS on this phone. and how it looks like in clock style display

  • Hi:) I read your posts on this phone and was hoping you can help me. I have purchased a Motofone F3 in New York City and I am having a problem connecting the phone to my network. Motorola US can't help because the phone is now being introduced here and they do not have tech support for it. I need help changing the network settings on the phone. I have read the manual completely and do not see instructions on how to go about it.I need the change the GSM band from 900 to 1850 Please help me. Thanks -Luis [email protected]

  • This phone does have an auto lock facility.. please try & use the code ***260* OK and to switch the option off use ***261* Ok. However the lock gets activated in 5 seconds ! & there is no option to change that. Two it does have a vibration alert. Three, there is no calendar & calculator! Just amazing how Motorola did not incorporate these basic features. Lastly, no way you can see your sent messages, you can only view your inbox. Also no way you can change the font size or change case..This is really a tiresome phone ! however that's all one can expect from a phone worth $40. I am extremely unhappy from the outcome.

  • THANKS LUSIF, for a very nice and short Review of the fone, it was really helpful in understanding the new display technology. and i agree with some ppl, cuz if U need all those high-end nice features, then better spend more money :) in Pakistan its for 2800Rs (launch price) and i hope it'll b comin down soon. Still, a nice work from Motorola, intresting thing is URDU and PUNJABI menu/instructions :) and in Pakistan this set's got SPEAKERPHONE (Handsfree) also, i wonder why they havent mentioned that here. Ciao

  • Guys its available in the chennai local markets at 1500 bucks!

  • Follow up for some questions I've seen on this phone, and yes, I can guarantee the asnwer as I'm holding it on my hands right now: * It DOES have vibrate mode * You CAN turn off the voice guides. * You CAN turn off the key sounds * It DOES accept headphones The CONS you can read in my previous post...

  • I've just bought one today and here is my cons: * Can't receive a 2nd call while talking or make conference calls. (That's pretty bad for me, as I'm always using that) * Don't have auto-lock feature, so you must lock the keyboard manually everytime. Hope this will be fixed in a future version, maybe F3b or F4 ? :) Excep for that, it's a great phone. I'll keep using my old nokia 1100 for a while, it's the only phone that has enough battery for me. (I can talk for free, so you can imagine how much I use the phone)

  • his phone is now in pakistan just for $40 it is very cheap

  • Menu Sucks!!

  • gr8 phone i ever see before........& prices are too affordable.........anyone can buy tht phone...........& its totally ruff n tuff......i m sure going to purchase it........thank you Motorola.........u rocks.

  • moto fone really shocked the customer who r very tendive abt motorola this is a really cheap product which moto ever produced

  • it,s not a moto it is a slim fhone and it,s price is so less then it,s qualities

  • Now what the fuc_ is this??? This is 2006 (soon to be 2007)!!! Is it possible to bring out such a.."phone"?

  • There is something wrong with this model.. I mean have you guys checked out the VK2000? VK Mobile can squeeze so much into such a small body, why cant Motorola do the same with this model that has practically Z.E.R.O functions in the first place. I mean come on! Motorola you're supposed to be the RAZR you know, remember? The thin lines etc.. Basic cellphone yes, but why such HUGE Dimensions?

  • I thought it will be a good phone but it starts from $139, and from that mioney a v70 is much more worthful i think. And I heard that therre will be a cdma version of this phone, I would be curious :D

  • its available on ebay for Rs.2999/-

  • Hey, guys u need mp3,fm,exp mem, etc under 30dollar?hey this is meant for those who want a second phone and those who cant spend much!! if u want all that features in a phone and still cant spend more than 50$ nothing can be done..... spend more to get more!!! ok?

  • yeeesss.............this phone works in USA.

  • its a good phone..very simple very compact...will this phone work in USA?

  • this phone is meant for the people who cannot afford expensive models or for the simple people who cares to keep intouch with there friends and loved ones and that's it. these people don't need any hitech features on their phones...understand?? so why most of you are so negative about this model. motorola has intentions to cater their varity of models to different class of people around the world. anyone of you have sense, just..just stop blabbering.

  • people are leaving comments without even reading about this phone. it has viberation, alarm, calculator almost all the basic features.

  • India is the first target region for the ultra-low cost MOTOFONE F3. The phone is being launched by BSNL and Airtel at the moment. The F3 isnt meant for the metros where all of us take features like MP3 playback, cameras and internet access for granted. It is meant for rural areas where the main requirements are a prolonged battery life, high durability, better network performance, and of course, accessibility. The F3 addresses all these issues very well. This is a really slim phoneits just 9mm thin, which is the thinnest from Motorola, though not as thin as the Samsung Ultra Edition 6.9 (which has a 2-megapixel camera and MP3 playback support). But for its price, the F3 is the slimmest yet. It has a flat keypad with raised lines demarcating the rows. I felt that those lines came in the way when using smaller keys like the OK/Menu key and the dedicated phone book key, but not for the rest of the keys. The fact that the keys are flat and not cut outs should prevent the dust from entering the phone. This is a pleasantly attractive phone to look at, and equally pleasant to hold. The Build quality of the phone is nothing outstanding, though it doesn't feel cheap from any angle. The battery cover did creak a little on firm gripping, but we think it'll do just fine. We didn't have the heart to drive a bullock-cart over the phone and see if it still worked fine. First, well take a look at the display. The new, ClearVision display used in the F3 not an LCD screen. It is 'electronic paper' developed by US-based E Ink. that doesnt need power to constantly display an image on the screenit only needs a little charge when the text (or whatever) needs to be changed. The display stays on even when the battery is pulled out! Hence, the battery life is automatically prolonged as conventional LCD displays are one of the most power hungry component of the modern mobile phone. Also, another added benefit of this technology is that its easily readable in harsh sunlight as well, since its quite basically just paper. You can read more about the technology here. We tried it out in different lighting areas and noticed that the readability is very impressive in all areas, though the center column of the phone gets a little dim because it has two columns of low-power LEDs on either sides of the phones front. These LEDs also illuminate the keys in the side columns well, with the center column being dimmer. On the other hand, the display isnt any standard 128x160 or even 128x128 pixel resolution that most low-end phones have these days. Its a two-line, digital clock-style display with a few icons around it. This is partly an exercise in cutting costs, and partly aimed at making the display more accessible to illiterate users who would prefer pictures to text. The pictures part works, and the larger display of numbers is also easier to read, but I think its really inconvenient to read text in that digital clock-style display. Accessibility should make it easier for people to read the text, not to learn to decrypt seven-segment. A lot of the target users may already have seen or used phones with monochrome displays that show sharper, more readable text. Network performance of the F3 is aided by two separate antennas incorporated in the phone. The idea behind two antennas is to ensure that at least one of them is free of obstruction, for eg. your hand covering it. The way people tend to hold the phone, an internal antenna almost always gets covered. Having an external antenna doesnt fit into the sleekness of the series, so having dual antennas is a good approach. Two antennas cost more than one, but seeing the final price of the product, I dont see that as a problem. We noticed that the network indicator was 100% at almost all the times, except in our sound proof room where no mobile phone has ever received any signal! The phone is a dual-band handset, by the way. The other main feature of the MOTOFONE F3 is its extended battery life. The F3 is expected to offer up to 8 hours of talk time or 12 days of stand-by time. Now, I dont really use the phone much probably not even half an hour worth of talking per day, but the phone didnt seem to work for more than 5 days. If I dont use the camera or MP3 player in my Samsung E880, I get at least 4 days, so I honestly dont see the big deal out here. Im going to give it another go and let you know about the actual talk time that this thing can pull off. In the end, I have mixed feelings about the SCPL-based MOTOFONE F3. I like the way it looks, the display technology, the audio quality, network performance and of course, the price of the phone. However, Im not sure about the way the display has been utilised and the battery performance doesnt seem to be as impressive as it should be considering all the cutting edge, power-efficient E-Ink technology that theyve used. Rs. 1,649 is a great price for a phone this slim, but its not something that hasnt been achieved before. Motorolas own C118 ultra low-end phone costs Rs. 1,500, has iTap and a 96x64-pixel LCD display. The C118 doesnt speak to you and its not very slim, but it does tout 11 hours of talk time. The SCPL platform should make way for better phones in the higher segments for urban areas (replacing the RAZR), but as of now, the MOTOFONE F3 isnt enough of a phone. Having said that, Id still go out and buy the phone just for the heck of it!

  • its a fine, very thin like price, best for all who like to keep secondary i really like it slim, smart cheaper, much more

  • It doesn't have a vibration?!OMFG!

  • worlds most Diffrent ! dont buy ! ur callculater is better than this ! i have used it for one day ! n now my kid is playing with that ! yes it is very cheap ! but not also worth buying ! try to use it once u will laugh !

  • if this phone would be incredibly cheap i would be glad to have it as a secondary phone. it is just what you need to have. is is very very stilish and i think it will be very cheap.

  • GREAT PHONE MOTO...U R THE BEST :) If it had Vibration,Alaram and some phonebook memory... it would be great.

  • i think it's useless to have a phone without a vibration mode still without mp3. the phone must be discountinued quickley.

  • Here is a detailed review of the Motorola MOTOFONE F3:

  • HAHA imagine a cellphone in 2006 without mp3 ringtones!! Listening to polyphonic pling pling is just lame!!!

  • Sorry about this, Useless phone for todays. no camera,no mp3, no fm, no memory card, no GPRS, no mms, noting any one. only slim and light weight.

  • Yes, it DOES have vibrate mode. I've confirmed in the motorola site in my country.

  • here is a video of the MOTOFONE in action on youtube. shows how the menu system works with voice prompts and everything.

  • Another question: can you turn of the guiding voice and the sounds when you tap a number? Thanx.

  • I have seen some pics of this fone where it's white, but I have read that it only comes in blue, red and black. What's going on? Example.

  • Oh yeah. Will the Hawaii 5-0 ringtone work with this phone? Thanks.

  • Hey. I can easily afford any other reasonably priced phone out there, but I am going to get this one because it is practical, easy to use, slim, and has an incredible price.

  • yes there is vibration....

  • hey katrsF3 confirm whether it has vibration mode. thank you in advance.

  • standby: 16-17 days (tested). OMG!

  • the fone is available in india.. damn cute!!!love at first sight... the menu is kinda new and takes time for getting adjusted..all in all ultifone at such a low price...gr8 speaker clarity too...luv it!!!!

  • hey guyzzzzzzzz this fone will cost 18-20 $ usd and upcomming moto fones will be available in 1 week of their announcement and they will be 5mm to 7mm thick

  • Wow it looks beatiful!!!

  • Are you sure it will be available in europe?? Motorola anounced(some years ago) that they were targeting the poorest continent of the globe.. they said they would develop a phone which would be easy to use and that it would be "energy efficient" (batery)... I guess they were talkin abt the MOTOFONE... But i'm not sure it will be available in all countries... to be fair, if i buy a MOTOFONE, it will be as a secondary phone.. a phone i would use during tough outings such as mountain climbing, hike, etc.. Thx Motorola, for having a thought for people most of us ignore... it's great..

  • In Motorola's official web page it says that it has 32 channel speaker, not an 8 channel one

  • Are you sure its a Tri-band?????...people are saying this is only dual! have anyone checked that?

  • yeah man, i never noticed....there is no vibration mode on this model. what the heck!!! or is it just a simple typing error in the spec sheet?? if it's really true, then it's not worth a penny. man, how can motorola launch a mobile without this feature.

  • 2 x 6 characters line. This phone cannot be used to texting at all. you will get 1 word on each line!

  • vibrator is compulsory in any phone these days and this one doesn't have it.

  • hello positive guys i didn't know there are so many of you who think like me. sure you people make the world look smaller and a better place. many of you have left a positive comment on this model and have put the negative people to shame. Motorolas are the pioneers of wireless communication and they exactly know what they are doing. they are yet to introduce FONE F3 to the other parts of the world where people including me are waiting eagerly to buy one of these most affordable great looking gadgets of the 21st century. GREAT job done Motorola.

  • I can't wait for this phone to hit the market, it's a breakthrough in many ways: cost, style per cost, screen technology (heard it's an (eink) screen), and, rumor has it that it has twin antenna (as you might know, poor areas are neglected by phone carriers and thus have poor coverage). I think of this phone as a symbol of the human side of Motorola... maybe they should call it Moto HUMN :)

  • Well i think it's fun ... that's why i'm going to buy one. practical, cost effective, small and light ... looks good too furthermore, anyone can afford it and that is called "good thinking" from MOTOROLA

  • If you are connected to the internet using your own computer and about to say wrong about this phone, don't... it was not designed for you, that's why you think it is not a good phone... it was intended for those who are not as lucky as we are... those who are poor... MOTOROLA... actually connecting people...

  • To those thinking about criticising this phone: It was designed for those who actually can't afford a mobile phone In case you dont know, these persons do exist Motorola have designed a cheap and practical phone for them This was a goal set by Motorola since years ago... They are now actually connecting people... GREAT JOB MOTOROLA. Instead of criticising, think about a positive change you could make Christmas is coming

  • it costs about $30 in the market man! what more do u want

  • Is it me or do all of these posts sound like motorola reps. Press releases, dodgy names and rave reveiws for a really low end phone. Don't beleieve the hype! This phone is bland.

  • it isn't that long. think about the nokia's high end models....bricks nothing but bricks and power hungry.

  • I think the concept is great. I would love a phone that gets back to the basics. No camera, none of the extra lights all over the phone that drain the battery, the color screens, and web surfing - it's all just a lot of extra garbage in my opinion. My only concern is that at 11.4cm it's a little long. It's only 9mm thick so why not make it a flip phone that's only 18mm thick and 6cm long?

  • Hi, FM Radio & Speaker phone should be added. Regards...G.Shankar

  • Is it a non-featured mobile phone? Dimensions 114 x 47 x 9 mm Weight 68 g seems cool but what is 2x6 chars?

  • wow!!!!such a lot of info on this model. i haven't seen on any other brands. this one must be truly a great FONE!!!

  • this is the new technology that the Moto engineers came up with after many years of research and development. congratulations Moto your are now truly the best Co. on the market!!!!

  • Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:08 am Motorola today announced the global debut of the highly anticipated Motorola FONE at an event held in New Delhi, India. Based on Motorola's evolutionary new SCPL design platform, the FONE is the first of a new breed of handsets designed to disrupt today's communications landscape by cutting across price tiers, product segments and international markets. In both GSM and CDMA, the Motorola FONE re-establishes expectations over how a value-priced handset looks and feels and what it delivers. Offering an intuitive new interface built with icons and voice versus text, as well as voice prompts specifically tailored to local markets, the handset makes it easier and friendlier for first-time users to navigate, place a call, and retrieve messages. Its large, high contrast screen, powered by a revolutionary ClearVision display makes it easier to use the phone outdoors. E Ink Corporation, the leading supplier of electronic paper displays, is providing the display technology behind the FONE's ClearVision. The changeable electronic ink display is easy to read in bright sunlight or dimly lit environments from virtually any angle - just like paper. Additionally, the display is plastic, lightweight and ultra-low power, making it ideal for mobile and power sensitive applications by eliminating the weight and breakability of glass used in LCD displays. The GSM version, Motorola FONE F3, is available today in India and will roll out in international markets in the coming weeks. Motorola is working towards shipping the CDMA version, Motorola

  • hey sebastian i don't know who the other guys are, i just copied their name and made it look like a sequential one. got no relation to those names. it seems like these names haunts you a lot otherwise you wouldn't have bothered.LOL i am sure you'll like Motorola FONE.

  • dosen't moto have any other design, all the models look alike v3I/l2/l6/l7 and now this model, after this model i am regreating my V3I purchase any buyer pls contact. Aru

  • now why should we purchase RZR v3I Aru Mumbai

  • The problem is that with this kind of display, you can't have a backlight, but the battery consumption is less than normal black and white displays. Normal black and white displays can be seen very well in sunlight as well.

  • To the guy below me Why are you using multiple names as whoami, mobilehunter mobiletechinformer mobilesuperinformer mobilelover etc? do you have a multiple identity problem or are you just trying to get some attention?

  • well done motorola. people who are budget conscious will much appreciate this good looking piece of candy bar type phone. another feather in moto's crown. motorola, please tell us when are you going to make this model available in the market, i mean the exact dates.

  • i posted my comment on motorola web page much before gsmarena announced. hence at that time dimensions were not made available. i don't know how my earlier comment appears on this site.hic!hic!

  • The Motorola FONE F3 mobile phone is the new range of MOTO phones which are made specifically keeping its sleekness and width in mind. It is one of the phones in the range of the SCPL (scalpel). It is an entry level phone but with some class in my opinion. The special feature about this handset is the display. It has a EPD technology screen that is a clear display. The striking point about this is that you can clearly read on the display even with sunlight falling directly on it. The phone is the thinnest phone ever only 9mm in width. The phone is also available in the CDMA version and is called the Motorola FONE F3c. This phone is specially for the people who are just looking for a good phone and no extra add-ons. They have made the ringtone much louder so you can hear it in the busy streets of your town too. The font on the display are really large so its easy to look at. You can also download ringtones and store it in your phone. The Motorola FONE F3 has a stunning battery life of 7hours talktime and over 17 days of standby. The Motorola FONE F3 will be available in the last quarter of this year, price is still unknown.

  • Just several hours after the announcement of four new RAZR-inspired models, Motorola announced its slimmest device up so far. With a 9 mm thickness, the new Motorola FONE is more than 2 mm thicker than the Samsung X820. Unfortunately, what is gained in weight is not gained in functionality, since the FONE is a budget solution aimed at developing countries and emerging markets. As such, it lacks camera, color screen or MP3 support, but doesn't fail to impress with the revolutionary ultra thin Electromagnetic Display (EPD) called "ClearVision" which should provide for low power consumption with higher contrast. Another highlight is that two integrated antennas have been used in the body of the phone - one in the top part and another one in the bottom part. The mobile would offer dust resistance and the ease of use for first-timers in the mobile communication is ensured by timely voice prompts in selected languages and redesigned graphical icons. According to Phone Scoop the ultra slim budget model by the American manufacturer is part of the new SCPL platform. Motorola is betting a lot of hopes on that would-be platform. As for now the full technical specifications of the device are not revealed. The Motorola FONE is expected to be available in the 4Q of 2006 in both GSM and CDMA models.

  • the dimensions are right there on gsmarena's front page for the phone.

  • this phone just suits my needs. Pros: recent motos models performance is excellent. i am sure this model is gonna join the group. Cons: i see lots of adverts but nowhere the dimensions are mentioned. sad, as why the info is absent. Opinion: i am unable to give my rating on this model as it' still not available. every where it's just mentioned 4Q 2006 but still no signs and even the dealers in Bahrain are not aware of this model. i appreciate if Motorola can post their info on the availability of GSM model on the net.

  • The Motorola FONE F3 (also known as the MOTOFONE) is a very slim bar format phone that's due to hit the market by the end of the year. There are two versions - the FONE F3 is a GSM handset, the F3c is a CDMA version for North America and other CDMA markets.

  • I understand that the FONE is 9mm thick which makes it one of the slimmest handsets on the market, but the main point of interest with the MOTOFONE is the display. Motorola say that the so-called "ClearVision" panel uses electrophoretic display (EPD) technology, which in effect is a type of digital ink. An EPD display consists of a number of particles (typically suspended in some sort of fluid) which have a light side and a dark size. An electric charge "flips" the particle over. It's rather like a microscopic reversi board, with dark and light sides to each particle. There are a some major advantages that EPD displays have over more traditional panels such as TFT or OLED technologies. Firstly, the screen can be read even in direct sunlight as it behaves just like a printed piece of paper, and secondly the energy consumption of an EPD display is very low, and as electrophoretic displays are basically quite simple there's a potential for saving space and weight. There are a couple of major disadvantages - it's a monochrome-only solution, and in low lighting conditions the electrophoretic display will be very difficult to read as it has no internal illumination of it's own (unless Motorola have been very clever indeed). Motorola have designed the phone.. err FONE.. to be durable and dust resistant, and also very easy to use with a simple interface and voice prompts, plus a "loud" setting for noisy environments. The MOTOFONE seems to be aimed at the lower end of the market, as there's no mention of a MP3 player and no sign of expandable memory - and also the FONE F3 comes with a variety of functions to help prepay/pay-as-you-go customers to keep track of charges. It's certainly an interesting handset when it comes to the display, and it might even mean a renaissance for monochrome displays as the electrophoretic display panel does have certain advantages over a traditional LCD. The rest of the technical details of the Motorola FONE F3 / F3c are not known at the time of going to press, but they will presumably be confirmed at a later date.

  • i heard this phone cost 50 dollars..hm..it worth it...this phone is so damn nice..

  • Its the most wonderful, I have ever heard about. As informed to us, this phone is unbreakable. We have tried throwing the phone against the wall with all might. It still does not break. A person with 300 pounds weight tried to crush it. He couldnt. Moreover, signal strengths were so good in places where other mobile lose their network. All this at a price of Rs. 1655/- in India

  • look this is a low end mobile so is jamica, it is much better for jamican people as its font are readable and it has high pitch ring tones witch is requirment of jamica and its thickness is perfect for jamica, believe me mr.jamics

  • It seems to be a good LCD mobile who are sick of colour display which goes black in stand by, so you can see time, signal strenght, and battery any time without reading glasses. Thickness is another rich feature while price will also be good for all.

  • Its Officially out in India. Price Rs1600

  • well i would say it the world first only fone not another multimedia device

  • @ sheldon hey buddy i dont argee wid u honey this fone will cost only $20 so isnt it nicest and cheapest very small and very nice looking and cheap if u r having it u will have no problems

  • MOTOROLAAAAAAAAAAAAA, Remember we are not going back to the 18th Century, although this phone would be cheap, the poorest person in Jamaica would never buy it, it has nothing, the phone not even have a gprs, "NUH BBODY INNA JAMAICA AGO BUY THAT". Motorola, come back in the 20th Century Pleaseeeeee, if not go in the 21st then. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee.............

  • This phone has been released in India, Was able to Find it on Motorola India's website:

  • Hei, it was about time someone decided to make a basic phone, although the screen is a bit too "basic". It all depends now on the price. If you sell this phone for like... 3 dollars, then it's a bargain. Yet again most companies will probably give this phone for free along with some services. So it will preatty much depend on their policy. The phone may become a hit in countries where people can not afford fancy 3MP camera phones.

  • this motophome 3 will be the leadind phone in its user like basic phone users this is a good approach to get market capture....motorola should take some more steps...this is an advertisment...i am using motorola from last 12 years and find much beter from a number of brands...waiting for phone in pakistan

  • to Richard, this fone will not kill anything. =)) just look at the tones. POLYPHONIC AND 8 CHANNELS! =)) piece of garbage.

  • heyyy, you finally added it gsmarena! what a great basic phone. the nokia-killer.

  • even if pretty if you can get something better for the same price, people are not goint to buy it, come one.

  • seems to be a useful tool for placing a call; and this is the purpose of a phone !

  • what is it?? it's mobile phone??

  • Yes, very nice, but useless phone because of type of display. Phonebook and SMS would be torment on such displey. Came on, Motorola, change display to matrix EPD.

  • very niceeeeeeeee fone
