I have this phone at the moment but have to replace it due to calling faults and various other reasons. when receiving calls I can't hear the receivers voice whilst they can hear mine which is an obvious problem. this phone scratches fairly easily and I find it difficult to type sms's becasue of the hard keypad. Their is no predicitve text or dictionary that I have found.

I used to have a kind of problem with my NEC N343i. The phone gets hot each time i operate it, it is usually worse whenever i type sms. The problem continued until i deactivated the key tone. Is any1 experiencing similar problem?

I had this phone for a year and a half and it was great for my needs, although at around the year mark it would constantly get stuck on vibrate and for the last few months, the people i have called have reported that they can hear a very loud echo of themselves. overall tho, a really good phone

i love my phone. its easy and light, for my needs it works fine, phonecalls, sms, alarms. in old pc with win xp used the software from nec france and worked fine, now using the software from mobileaction.com with win98 driver -in imac intel with winxp, win2000driver didn't work- seems to work for contact update (sim and phone) and sms tranfer, but not for download photos to pc, tries for a while then, a pop-up message saying "can�t download fom terminal", any help?? tried with direct usb ports and from keybord usb ports... please help

I desprately need to know how to download photos from the phone onto my PC, but I do not have the original box or CD that came with the phone. My husband reckons I should be able to download online and I have downloaded something but it says it is trying to connect to the phone but obviously can't. I did a favour for a friend today and took photos of her son's birthday party and would dearly love to be able to send them to her by email. Can anyone help?

Simply Awful phone..my Samsung E800 (which i had at the time) had broke, however i needed a budget phone and as far as budgets phones go, at the time this was good. Nice looking but one you go beyond the looks and start to use its useless. The camera quality looks as appealing as a Camel with Sypholiss...pretty awful. AVOID.

right i got the phone and was all ooo it looks cool!! but when u want to actually use it it lets you down, no reception half the time, sometimes it vibrates until you turn it off yourself, also it takes about a week to send a picture via e-mail and i sent about 4 that never turned up in my inbox, i never got the address wrong it just didnt work, has anyone else had this problem? well anyway if u where thinking of buying it my advice is DONT!

It goes extremely hot when typing SMS the maximum pages one can type is 3 pages and the phone swithes off out of over heating. This fault has been observed on first use.That is from the manufacturer. other faeture are okay. What can you do please to this?

Got this phone 8 months ago, and considering it's price it seemed a nice phone. I only need it for calling and sms so the n343i was/is sufficient. It looks nice and everything worked fine untill a few weeks ago. The phone started to crash a few times a day (and later every few minutes). Reason for this could be that I dropped it a few times. I decided to buy a nokia 5410i. The reception of the nokia is way better. In places I couldn't call with the NEC now I can have perfect clear conversations. Also battery life is much better. Therefor I recommend a Nokia to everybody. NEC 343i: Pro: looks price Con: durability reception battery life (2 days)

Do not buy this phone. Looks great. Takes photos. You can record voice memos. It has a reliable alarm clock. The one thing you cannot do with this phone, however, is make or receive phone calls. At home -- no signal. At work -- no signal. While people on Nokia, Seimens, Sony-Ericsson etc are sitting next to me chatting away, my phone says 'no signal'. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

What can I say, I love the design! I got a free Ipod Nano with it and the phone and Ipod look like twins. I don't really care much about special features so I'm satisfied, I can make phonecalls and send textmessages, that's enough for me. The only problem I have is that I have no idea how to get the photo's from the phone to my computer, I've searched for software, but can't find it.

I got my N343i last October and the phone was so good to look at, My friends and family thought it was a hand held computer or an ipod, occasionally people would look at it on the bus. I originally got the phone so that I could play games on the long distances I have to travel to either on the bus or tube, even now the phone still works fine and I don't really feel like getting a new one. Only bad point's about it is that it has no 'External Link' or blue tooth, and �3.00 monthly subscription fee for imode games =( However there is a way to get around the data exchange just use your imail to mail your computer email =)

O2 were fantastic when i had my previous mobile stolen in march. they replaced it within 48 hours with the NEC N343I. during the first 3 months the phone was amazing. i loves the sleek look i was having comments from all my friends about how ace it looked. i had no problem with the battery. text messages came through when sent. pictures were not fantastic but i lived with it. 9 months later im having nothing but problems. 1) The phone decides when it wants to work. 2) The phone decides to constantly vibrate on random occasions. 3) The case on the phone feels loose. 4) The camera fails to work. no clear picture. will not save. etc. 5) The battery is loose. Now dont get me wrong, i look after my phones. It has hardly any marks on it. It always has a full battery as i make sure its fully charged. i havent abused the poor thing. i am extremly disapointed in NEC. My advice to you if you are looking to purchase this model is to think again and invest in something that has good feedback.

i found this phone to be the worst i ever had it does nothing except take pictures and trying to get a signal for the damm thing is like trying to find a needle in a haystack this is mjy advice to anyone looking at this phone walk away don't even consider buying it cus you will be kicking yourself when you relise you just wasted 50 on a piece of rubbish with less capabilites than a cow

Does anyone know how to change the memory for sms from the sim card to the phone ? I can only store 20 texts on my sim memory but apparently there is over 250 available on the phone ? i absolutely love this phone! I've had it for ages and not experienced any problems whatsoever (even after the dog has chewed it up!) Its functions are easy to access and although the camera is not the best one ive had, it still creates great photos. Great value for money, and such a light, small & stylish design! Fits in your pocket perfectly =] 9/10!

terrible phone. the worst handset i have ever had. The handset looks fantastic, i have had lots of people comment on the look of the handset and indeed it looks gorgeous, however when you want to make to recieve a phone call this is where the problems lie. signal bar never gets above 2 but normally sits on 1. when i speak to people most of the time they barely hear me, or i cannot hear them and it drops calls extremly easily. If im on a street standing within visual distance of a phone mast then it ok, if you are in a building, any building in or around London (at least the areas i frequent) forget it. Do yuorself a favour, stick with a Nokia, i used an old beaten Nokia 3100 as a loan phone when this rubbish was in for repair, i could not fault it, lovely.

Great phone. Possibly the best I've had in a long history of budget phones. The features for me are perfect. What would make it even more perfect for me is if they got rid of the camera. Unless the camera quality is of sufficient level on a phone, they should just be left off. The three things that make this phone the perfect one for me: 1. The hardware and "feel" of the phone - the keys are perfect. You can type text messages really fast without being 3 words ahead all the time (hang your head in shame sony ericsson). 2. Imode.. initially very sceptical about this, but it blows the socks off wap. The big attraction for me is that you can receive emails for free, and it gives an alert when it gets one, without having to be logged into the browser. I don't have broadband at home, and this phone is a lifesaver for me... I have all my gmails forwarded into my imail address automatically, and can read and reply if I need to, even when roaming on the continent. 3. The design... just look at it. It's very slim, and fits into the pocket perfectly My three gripes are small, and are as follows: 1. Text messages - it doesn't have any apostrophes marks in the T9 input. So when you want to type "you've", you have to type you first, then dial in the ' , and then type in the ve. But of a pain. 2. The ringer volume is not very loud. 3. The internal layout is a little clunky - could have been a bit more streamlined Overall, this is a great phone. I have already on my second, as my first was robbed, and I immediately went out and bought the same again.

well i have read all 10 pages and i am still stuck. i cant get this phone installed properly on my computer. i am using windows xp, and i have the drivers and also the handset manager. questions for anyone who has done this successfully; what does the phone show up as in the device manager? some kind of modem? a nec port? or just a usb device? i have had all of these listed and i just cant get it to work. i need to do this to rescue my phonebook because the screen is broken. alternatively could anyone post step by step instructions of how to copy my phonebook from the phone memory to the sim without seeing the screen? i need it to be absolutely precise. any help would be great!

Having read a few bad reviews, I was slightly apprehensive about taking delivery of this phone. I've now had it for a week and have had no problems with it at all - no dropped calls, perfect signal and the battery life is good For this price I would not expect it to have Bluetooth or Infrared and I use it with my PC (I downloaded the software from the NEC website and use the USB cable from my digital camera). The camera is suprisingly adequate (considering it is 0.75mp and takes pictures at 640x480). The phone is easy to use and despite my cynicism of the i-mode feature I have found it to be an improvement on WAP. It looks like I got a good one as it seems other people have been having trouble. It's a great phone for 40 quid and what you see is what you get - you don't get advanced features for this price and that suits me down to the ground! A budget phone that is well worth considering.

Do not buy this phone, I bought two, one for myself an one for my partner. Both have had sim problems from month 2, it keeps sayin sim card error. It seems like a good deal at first retailing at just 50quid, but who wants to throw 50 quid away? Realistically I didnt expect much for so little, but i did expect a working phone. Be warned this fone is only worth filling the void when u have had enough of your current phone.

Unfortunately the phone is about as boring a design as has ever been seen outside certain communist Eastern European states. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! This is by far the worst phone i have ever had, after 1 day every1 who phaned me got bad feed back, day4 it went fuzzy and the vibrate wouldnt stop, after a month or so it started to flash then after 3 months it just stopped. i was given a 2nd one and the day i after i got it the screen has broken. I have not damged this phone and im not the only person i know who has had the same problems. BE WARNED!!

I have this phone for a few days and really like it. It looks very nice, its keepad feels better than most (expensive) phones and all basic functions work well... I have one question about sms-storage. At 15 messages it sais its full but when i look at capacity it seems like there could be stored 250 sms on the phone and 15 on sim. Does anyone know if its possible to store more messages and how to store them? Thanks in advance!

I dropped my 343i the other day from a very low height. First the screen turned a solid color of blue, but the phone still worked. I could make calls despite the fact that I couldn't see what I was doing. Now, the device wont even turn on. I'm guessing it can no longer recharge. I would be extremely careful about not dropping this phone in the slightest way. It has a low tolerance to damage. Or maybe this is just this particular phone.

alright,,after 2-3 months of befriending with this NEC phone..one word..useless!not up to date with today's mobile-phone-suppose-to-be condition!unless u only want to phone out and receive calls solely..don't wish to do anything more with it! I ve got a few tips here tackling the probs with this phone model: 1) If you find yourself couldn't change the ringtone,just rename the name of the ringtone you want, then change it! 2)the phone finds no signal if you place it in pocket or slightly enclosed place..TIP:just place it in the open air! 3) It will get jammed whenever you switch the camera in full mode..so..TIP:let it stay the way it is...don't switch it to Full screen! You have to get battery out to restart it. 4)..just get another phone with white colours..Sony Ericsson!

I just bought it 5 days ago, my opinion: +Good sound quality +Slim design +Quite simple to use +Multi-Alarm scheddulable by day of the Week ++Data cable is a regular USB connection, I use my MP3 player's cable with Nec's drivers +Comfortable Keypad +Application assignation to key -Modes are not user friendly -Lot of useless icons on the screen - .wav not usables for ringtones - poor quality and choice in the factory ringtones final opinion : I did not choose this one, I had to change my phone and no money for it, good phone for the price ^^, the camera is not to bad, if you don't move

Although I have a very good phone (Motorola Rz V3),as soon as I saw the NEC 343i whilst browsing I knew I wanted it as it looked good and the price tag was unbelievably affordable. I received my phone 2 days ago and I love it! The design is sleek and the cool blue backlight is hip! I am very angry to see reviews from people who moan about the fact that it doesn�t have video or Bluetooth. What do you expect for 40 pounds? It�s very simple: if you want top of the range technology then spend 200+ pounds! I think it�s good enough to have a camera for that price although it is true its quality is poor. However, as others mentioned, if you press 2 on your keypad which is the night mode you will notice a considerable improvement. My only disappointment so far is the ringtones, the choice is limited (only 10 on mine�I thought it was supposed to be 40?) and they�re all as bad as eachother. I have tried to download 4 times the Manager and Driver softwares to be able to download tones from my PC but without any success. Basically I can open the manager but the �phone to PC� and �PC to phone� icons are grey and still, I cannot click on them. The problem seems to be the USB cable (although I tried with two different ones), the phone cannot be detected for some reason because of that connection. I wonder if anyone has had the same problem and managed to resolve it? Or if there are any experts on the subject who could help, let me know, thanks!

You need a driver as well as the USB cable to connect the phone. The drivers are found if you search through these opinion pages. It saves people's time and is much better if you people just search to see if your question has already been answered before you ask it again. Eurgh. Otherwise you will simply get NO ANSWER.

I just can't stand the people on here that complain about the lack of bluetooth, more memory etc. What the HECK do you expect for �50? This phone is absolutely wonderful; there is no doubt about that. If you want your bluetooth and memory space, get a bloody Samsung Z320i.

Ive had many, many phones over the years, usually high end ones and i love gadgets, but this mobile phone i paid �29.99 for has made me very happy. i actually gave up a contract on 3 to use this phone. if you treat it as a communication device and not an entertainment device, its the dogs b*ll*ox!. the imode email is so good. the ability to send an recieve email in a very straightforward and quick way is excellent. you get your own email address and you can change it at any time in settings. i also use google mail as my web based email account and ive set it to forward a copy of the email to my imode email, so i get all my emails on my phone. no downloading them, they just pop up like a text or mms would. i ive been looking for a phone like this for years. i love the styling. its the whole reson for me choosing the phone. i love the functional, minimal european look. id love it more if it was all metal and the screen was glass. still, it dosent feel cheap and its a complete pleasure to look at, hold and use. it feels reassuringly solid without being too heavy. I hate the blue light under the keyboard though. makes it luck tacky. luckily, you can switch it off.the keypad key size and functional design makes it very easy to use for texting and emailing. this phone is for purists. the type of people who like to be a little bit different. the type of person who wants a mobile phone and email device and does'nt care for all the whistles and bells. to be honest, i think they should remove the camera on the next incarnation. give it a better screen resolution,add blootooth and more memory and you'd have a dam near perfect phone. btw...is 02 going to roll out the black version does anyone know? the price of this is ridiculous. buy it now before its deleted. at �30, im going to buy another one in case i loose or damage this one. id be upset if i could'nt get hold of another one. i want it for life, if not always for my main phone then as a secondary one for social occasions. use this link to get from 02 site for �29.99. Hahah, I just found a fool-proof way of installing this thing without error. 1) GO TO: 2) download 2nd one down (14.7mb) 3) Unzip and browse to HM_uk > anglaise > USBHmgr > N343i_usb > setup.exe 4) After the short install, plug in phone, PC will detect. 5) Choose manual install driver option and when told to choose a location... 6) ...Go to USB-Device-Driver > MA-2000 folder in previous mentioned anglaise folder 7) The 'OK' button will stop being greyed out and you can click it. 8) Let it run and THEN you can open the N343i Handset Manager (from start menu > programs) This should remove your headache!!

Well..i got it off 02 online shop...it was 79 euro i got it,for the sake of changing to a coloured and polyphonic phone. i am not really into a=lot-of-functions phone,this one is so-so, except the fact that it can't receive any WAP sent ringtone or watsoever, really puts me off...i can only go online using the so called i-mode and spent a fortune later when i check the balance without downloading anything at all...or just stick with the ringtones set on the phone...chic phone but sad one!! ^=^

Steve To get a nearly normal ringtone use i mode. From the menu go to Music & Downloads, select SUPER RINGTONE, scroll down to MENU, select 'free' ringtones then select ANTIQUE PHONE RINGING 2, then download. It should save in your sounds folder. Sounds not bad when set to max volume. It will only cost you the price of the browser time.

this phone is absolute rubbish, all i want is as normal ringtone for my poor mother who has to contend with some horrendous polyphonic gargage when the phone rings, for those of us who just want to know the phones ringing and not look really sad with some daft wee choon, how on this earth do i get a normal ringtone???....(without a usb to my PC)

Can anyone tell me how to download the software to connect the phone to my pc. I have tried to register with the French NEC site as mentioned in an earlier post but I can't seem to get a password to get any further. I like the phone, looks good, solid, like the blue LED keypad, big keys for easy text, camera looks below average, pity about the ringtones. I bet the person who picked them has shares in ripoff ringtone sites because the first thing your going to do when you buy this phone is download decent ringtones. Decent value for money with the i mode chucked in.

WOW!!! ...I just got this phone from amazon for �40 inc. postage! My sony erricson k750i phone ended up in the wash, and with no insurance i had to find a cheap replacement! ...So i went for this as it is the best looking budget phone! I am very impressed, its easy to use, the whole build of the phone is very high quality, unlike most cheap phones i was expecting cheap tacky plastic bits, but it has got a solid structure and was plesently surprised! The picture on the screen is crystal clear which was also very pleasing, but most of all it is very simple to use! The only thing this phone lacks is a good quality camera (although the camera pictures on the screen are fairly good quality 640x480), there isn't bluetooth which is a bit of a shame! and there is no mp3 support with the phone! ...However, if NEC put these three above features plus some extra onboard memory, this would easily equal any top of the range phone like the k750i, V.Happy with my purchase, we will just see if it stands the test of time! Definatley by far the best budget phone out there, plus not many ppl have it so that is a plus aswell!!!

Looks great but had to send mine back-would only send the first part of multi-part txt msgs. Interface and software not great, have switched to a Motorola L6 which is MUCH better (at admittedly twice the price, but worth it.)

This is a really nice looking phone - and quite sturdy too, with an aluminum casing. The PC sync is really handy at this price point - hardly any of the other phones have it - and it allowed me to transfer my contacts over from Outlook without hassle. There is only one outstanding niggle for me - whenever I receive new messages, they usually go straight to the SIM card (unless they are from O2 - when they go to the phone). This means I get a "memory full" after only 10 messages. I can't seem to find a way of moving messages, or working around this. Does anyone else have a solution?

I have owned this handset for about 2 months, and i have to say that the phone is very good. the way that the i-mode has been improved over normal xtml wap is brilliant. It is very user friendly with easy to navigate menus. i dont think it is as good as the NEC 411i. The way that the software has been designed is very good. the only downside to these i-mode handsets is that if you unlock them for a network other than o2 then you will not be able to use the i-mode feature. Unlike phones that have been designed for vodafone live, or t-zones you are able to setup the normal browser application providing that you can update the software to access the other network. Overall i am very impressed.

You need to download the software. I read somewhere that only software downloaded on the french site worked. I did not really tried to verify that and downloaded it here: You need to create an account first, then log in and go to "logiciels" and everything should be self-explanatory. Note that the soft is in several languages, so no problems ... You can manage your telephone directory, upload images and sounds, ... simple and cool ...

BUGS! I have just got my phone and did a transfer from the pc (manager) with peoples names address and E Mail. But when you place e mail address in the phone they get mixed with other peoples e mail address or if you did not give this person an e mail they might then have an address bleed from another person where before this option was blank and when you try to delete you just end up going round in circles the address either comes back even though the phone says it has deleted and saved your setting or get moved to another name. (try it place an e mail address in one of the names in the address book then just scroll down for a few seconds or just go back to the main screen then return and you will see other some other names will have that e mail address in the phone address section. Also i noticed that if you then do an update with the manager program and usb cable it will say that no settings have changed and the e mails are in the correct place it does not see the ghost address "which are there on the phone!" I am sending this phone back and getting another as i wanted to have a phone i could easy e mail people with but i am starting to think in might be a common problem. The only way i have found to clear the e mail problem is to delete everybody e mail address!! Can anyone else please try adding e mail address into there phone either manually through the phone or by outlook or just by the phone manager and see if they get the same thing as so far Im the second person to have this problem on this phone!!

To Kate, This phone does NOT have video recording or playback capabilities. :) And to everyone else; the camera may appear to be rubbish because of the poor screen quality. When you are in camera mode, simply press '2' on the handset to instantly improve the quality. The images are in fact very good quality when viewed on a PC.

i know it was only a ceap andset, but i have to take mine in tomorrow because the camera is bugging so badly. it won't save pictures and the ones it does save are generally distorted (i'm getting pixelliness and noise distortion), also the camera takes up to about 5 seconds to actually take a shot :(

No... it is a sim card thing. If you change it to Contrat sim or sim from other network it doesn't have this function.

I recently got a NEC 343i - O2 - Pay As You Go Mobile Phone. Great wee phone, the only problem I have is once I have sent a text message it displays the balance and vibrates. I don't mind it displaying the balance, but how do I get it to stop vibrating?! I've switched 'vibrate' off in all the modes (car, normal, meeting etc) but it still does it. Is it just a built in thing?!

I am not sure what ring sliencer does. But if you want it to Virbrate instead of ringing you can set it in Phone mode. Choose a phone mode or press option.

well i just got my nec343i today, i did'nt buy it on a whim i read all opinions and looked into imode very carefully!...end result??.......very pleased with my 343i, it looks good not cheap like some mobiles i've seen, ok so the camera is'nt brill but the preformance of imail more than makes up for it! anyway if you want a brill camera go and buy a digital one!! in fact i ended up nearly not getting one coz most shops had sold out!!!!!!!!!!!, if i had to have one gripe about it its the lack of memory space otherwise i'd give it 8/10 well worth the �79.99 i paid..now i can e-mail when on the move!! great!!!

im using this phone for more than a week by now. in my opinion, this phone is good for calling, sms'ing and i-mode. BUT, i do hear a weird background sound when im calling. does anyone else has the same prblem? and when i use handsfree, my friends will hear some echoing :(

Just bought one from 02 in Ireland. Haven't used it much yet, but a few initial impressions: -The case backing is metal, not plastic. Like an ipod. Really nice design overall. -The imode features- Having used them to just look for a house to rent and check the news I think they're excellent!! I really hope the technology catches on over here, as the sites are designed to fit to phones, they're basic but useful! -I was using imail within a few minutes of buying the phone!! One feature i've always wanted, e-mail directly to and from my phone, as easy as texting! -The camera is not as high end as is available on better phones these days..but as good as your average mid-price nokia/motorola phone. -It has a usb port...for what, I'm not sure yet!

Thought I'd share my views. Yesterday I fully intended to go onto contract and get myself a snazzy new Nokia phone from my local o2 shop. I'm really glad I didn't. I took a look at the N343i and fell in love. It looks and feels beautiful. It did admittedly take me a few hours to get to grips with the unusual way of accessing features. But the imode email thing is fantastic. My wife now just emails my mobile rather than texting and it comes through in an instant. At the moment I think replying is free until the end of December and it's brilliant. Even when they do start charging for access I think it'll still be cheaper than SMS. Now, the downside is.... All this imode stuff if obviously new which inevitably means that some services will be buggy and it will take a while to iron out those problems. The phone book is a bit annoying and seems to list o2 services above normal numbers. Which means if I'm trying to phone my wife I have to press down 20 odd times. Although if I have dialed her recently I could just press the call button and it will appear. Overall though if you want a sexy little mobile with a basic camera (I never use mine) and fantastic email on demand - GET IT!

Hi, I just have few questions to ask. I am deciding this and the Nokia 6030. Nokia is good in ease of use and Long battery. Some user reported 10 days of standby time without making any call. So, How is the battery life of 343? Is the menu fast? Or slow compare to nokia? How many SMS can it store? How many contracts can it store? Does it store mutiple number in a Contract name? How is the screen? I have heard many compliant about it being too small. And how heavy is it? I see some us 70g but some site listed as 90g.

This handset can be used with pre-pay and post-pay sim cards. The settings for both of the above are stuck into the handset and it is not possible to edit or even delete the I-mode settings. If you ever manage to delete these (supposedly impossible), O2 cannot send the settings as they are stored in the phone like concrete and cannot be re-entered.

I was not expecting a decent camera, but this is without doubt the worst camera I have ever seen on a phone, which is a shame because some of the old NEC's have decent cameras. My main complaint was stability... unless I just happened to get a fauly unit. I did want infra red though (or at least some way to connect it to a pc). Spec on here lists it, but is obviously a misprint. If you just want a reasonable phone and are not bothered about ir or a camera, it's very good (assuming you don't get a faulty one too), certainly better than Nokia's 6030 etc.

Prepay i-mode handsets will not work correctly with O2 contract sim cards, and vice-versa. This is due to the way settings are installed in to the handsets. Also it's pointless complaining about the camera, this phone is not meant for people who want a brilliant camera, its meant for people who want an easy to use, fairly basic and practical handset with a good battery life. It's good at what it does, if you want a fantastic digital camera, go to Dixons and buy one!

Bought this on O2 prepay yesterday and took it back today. Screen quality is poor, camera is pathetic and there is no infra red. Also had problems such as freezing, screen blanking and I managed to start the camera and take a photo without the screen changing from standby! Shame really as it's quite nice to use.

I live in the US. This phone is just perfect for me: a small good-looking phone without all the unnecessary bells and whistles. Does anyone know how/where can I obtain this phone unlocked to be used in any GSM network in the US? I can order it from overseas if need be, but I have to be sure that it won't be locked. Hi Alan, Any O2 pre pay phone will work with a contarct sim. You will need to enter in new MMS and GPRS settings but any O2 shop will give them to you. i-mode will work fine on any traiff, it works on both 3G and 2.5G handsets. Hope that helps

O2 prepay phones do normally work with O2 contract sims, but I'm unsure about this due to i-mode as O2 are issuing i-mode tarrifs. Seems the phone has been launched in taiwan known as N353i. The screen is STN 128x160 =( . Kinda made for a low end segment i guess. Price listed is around ~ NT$8300 = ~A$325 = ~$250

I can't believe this phone weighs 95 grams!!! I thought it would be heaps lighter than that considering its size and minimal functionality. Perhaps the imode is weighing it up.

Yes, you can. Except the phone loecked, many phones sold by carriers come "locked" to that carrier. A "locked" phone can only be used with that carrier; it cannot be used with another carrier's service.

looks like the dimensions are 109 x 43 x 12.7 mm based on other sites... im a phone idiot -- if i purchase this triband phone can i get it to work with a US based sim card through cingular or t-mobile?

Phone is available in UK 1st October 2005, O2 exclusive, not available on any other networks in the UK because I-Mode again is O2 exclusive. Very stylish phone, if can live without excellent camera a must.

I've got the phone (O2 test) and it is as good as you think - its like an ipod but as a phone and its not girly. Its quite a low end device with camera quality just OK but I now need to buy one - can you get them in Japan?
