  • i used to use it. until some guy stole it .from 2008-2013 . it was very strong. once i droped it from my 5 storied building accidently . i quickly ran to the ground and found my back cover & battery fallen. later i found 3 pcs of the front casing. then i found the phone body. i inserted the battry & turned it on and it was perfect. another day it fell insidea bucket of water & it turned off ,i wiped it and turned it on , the speaker was not working for a day. after a day it just became fine . i still miss it........ now i use,a nokia 3310,105,6500s

The battery is original and seems to last forever. Lets see how the next 5 years go. Nokia can,t make much money if they still make phones like this one

  • great basic phone. silent keypad which is great for SMS. lightweight, guilt-freeand very affordable. the battery life is great and it is quite rugged (my 1-year-old son finally broke the LCD on one of my 1202 after so many attempts). wished its waterproof as I usually end up answering a call while its raining outside.

This phone is the best phone i've ever come across other than the Nokia handsets i've used so far which is the Nokia 5130, c5, x3 and x6 which kept hanging all the time! My x6 touch was messed up and after turning it off and turning it back on in two months the problem wasnt there anymore. Word? Anyway Nokia 1202 is as it is - simple. Achieving 50words per minute, this baby has a simple user interface. Calling is pretty easy and it's pretty convenient for rough use. That is you can drop it how much you want. It'll still work!

  • This phone, it's update (1203) and the newest update, the 1280 do not have an American version. These do not exist. I have spent months trying to find them. I suspect that these were proposed versions but since there is virtually no market for monochrome LCD phones (everyone wants colour or touch screen phones) at this price range, they were not produced.Economies of scale led to these not produced or if they were, they were done on a one time small scale. Correct me if I'm wrong and lead me to where I can get this phone. I would gladly buy two.

  • Worst Phone Ever!!! Nokia 1202 and 1203 are defected pieces Nokia themselves have accepted. When you are in a call, everyone can hear your conversation as sound comes from 2 outlets and is always on loudspeaker. These are discontinued by Nokia now I guess.

  • This is a basic mobile, so one expects the call quality to be good. But, it doesn't deliver that. Voice during Calls is very poor, unclear and distorted. It restarts lot of times when i try to send sms. No use of this mobile because of the above two problems.

  • This phone is good for texting and calling. As my secondary phone, I'd say I prefer using this than my tocuhscreen phone coz it's easy to use for basic phone operations. If you like simplicity and of course, low price, go for this.

Very handy phone. Cons: Has nothing other than a phone in it! no music player, browser etc. if you only need a phone for voice calls and SMSes, this is a great and affordable option. I got this as a back up phone from my office, and i am happy with it.

  • This is one of the most fragile phones ever made by Nokia. Any damage is permanent in many cases, ie you drop it into water and it won't dislay forever. The Nokia 1110 is far better than 1202.

  • Ray, you can try the following: 1) Power off the phone. Remove battery. Wait for 2 minutes. Reinsert battery and try again. If that doesn't work: 2) Go to the 'sent' messages folder. Delete all messages displayed there. Restart phone. Try again. I'm more inclined towards the (2)nd option. That should just do the trick, hopefully!

  • The battery life is far from the claimed time. It lasts max 3 days which is pathetic for a phone like this with b/w display. The first battery bar takes 2 days to end, rest hardly day and half. The looks and touch are good. Keypad is soft and nice to touch. Voice leakage is there, which could be fixed by placing something from inside over the speaker opening. The phone feels hollow as when you put it to your ear it sends out a vibration sound. Overall its a nice low budget phone, only if Nokia could solve the voice leakage and low battery life problem. I love its looks and touch.

My sis is begging me to swap it for her Nokia 2000-something even though they're the same size and hers has a camera etc. Just discovered today that if you turn on "Cell info", on the home screen a message telling your location will appear.   • just bring your phone to the nearest nokia care center and have it software updated immediately. i did not experience this kind of problem in all of the 3 1202s that i bought. but if that's the case just update your software. by then monitor it for atleast 3 days if it still happens try to use other sim or network. good luck... by the way i really enjoy my phone calls. i think enhanced speaker of 1202 is better than that of others you know why? it doesn't turn hot, even in continuous usage but be sure to put it in level 3 or 4 only so that you don't hurt your hearing buddy...

  • I have the silver-gray version of the 1202, the 1203. At first the phone restarted often, I think the problem is a one-off thing, it doesn't happen anymore and I'm happy with the set. Pros: .Excellent keypad .Simple to use .Decent build .Excellent battery life .Amazing reception and voice quality for a basic phone .Inexpensive Cons: .Sluggish when typing long messages .Weak vibration Considering that the phone is inexpensive, it's offering a lot and little to complain about.

  • well for only 24 hours one thing can prove me wrong that a simple cellular phone isnt good as a XdA O2 unit thouygh the phone has no enough features it comes out as one of a utility cellphone very useful, flashlight, a super light phone, small but not unbulky one, i can bring it to my work anytime whether i use it for personal use or for work :)

  • I have the silver-gray version of the 1202, the 1203. Like the 1202, the phone is slower than, say, the 1112, my previous set. And although it seems like Nokia has solved the vibrating problem, the vibration is now so weak! There are times when I've had the phone in my pocket and still could not feel it vibrate!

  • The keypad on the the 1203 is different from the phone on the 1202. The 1203, IMHO, has a better keypad... but the rest of the phone is the same as the 1202.

  • Dear all ,hello and Asalam o alkium, I have last day bought this set from islamabad(pakitan) blue area market for Rs 2150 PKR (that is about 26 US DOLLARS) before buy i seen everyone comments here and also seen different reviews on internet. i must say within the price of this set is a good set to buy. depend upon your pocket size you go for mobile buys , if you need a set for only calling and texting no doubt this is the finest nokia set with people refering to nokia 1100 and 1101 , i must say its style and look is much better and than those old models and not to mention the screen size even match up the same but screen brightness and font size is perfect to read the screen in any weather or day time /night. about people complaining about in call vibaration then ists not a big vibarator there is a small vibaration that can be avoided if you dont think about it. The best thing i found to be is the Louder ring tone than nokia 1100 and 1101 and mp3 grade polyphonic sounds are soothing the alaram tone can be off any tones avialable and there are many features in this set that comply to have the best basic set may have. First time the battery was charged for me in three hours, the keypad is very soothing and dust reistant ,when you press the keys its is not felt that you are putting any effort ,sms writing is fast and t9 software supports several other languages ,even pushto was there too :) about is negative points then i must say the phonebook memory is small and also sms memory but what is its price of set then its acceptable For new buyers who want a good basic set ,with active calling,long battery and text messages ,go for it.because its is made for everyone who want the set to be simple with performance in mind. overall i rate the set 8/10 with call quality ,long battery and slim and nice key mat the set is considered to be nokia for all especially for the people who have lower or medium budget to buy the cell.   • Hi All... I'm a very big fan of 1100 & 1112. Now I'm using a different phone and looking to buy a basic model. I have seen the 1202 and have used it and its is very very much similar to the other two phones I mentioned. So before buying, I read the reviews and was suprised to see more negative comments. Most relating to bad speaker output & phone vibration while speaking. So I did made a test call with this phone both in the normal & loud speaker mode. What I found was.....Loud speaker isn't bad and the expected quality was there...however while speaking, you can feel a mild vibration. Yes.! in both the modes, there was vibration but I can strongly say....it isn't very disturbing or annoying. The phone is very light in weight, so you can experience these mild vibration because of the material. This isn't going to stop me from buying this phone. What I like most in these phones is the keypad which helps you with rough usage...What I would like to suggest or badly hope from Nokia is....have more memory for your phonebook and for SMS storage. Working professionals who use the phone mostly for calling & texting, would really enjoy a space for 500 - 1000 phone entries and a suitable memory which helps you store around 1000 texts.

Initially, I was pretty excited when it first came out because I was thinking that Nokia was able to finally release another new basic phone model, and being a fan of the 1100, 1200 and 1110 and it's cousins, I got one as soon as possible. However once I started using the phone, most of the flaws came out. First, like about half of the people here are ranting about, the talk function is so bad. The next guy to you will hear your conversation, and when I say hear, I mean clearly! Second, for some reason (also being complained by others) the phone suddenly restarts itself, whether in the middle of typing a text message or simply playing a game of rapid roll. The two glitches kinda disappointed me, so I traded phones with a friend who has a 1200. The 1202 is a good phone because of it's slim design and the great keypad it comes with, however they should fix up the speaker issue and have the phone's software/power system checked because the problems it has really turn out to be inconveniences.

  • I have bought it just two days back and the result is disappointment. Even its precursor Nokia 1200 was better than this phone. It is because of following reasons: 1. Phone vibrates a lot even while talking. 2. Vibrations result in voice coupled with vibration disturbance. So low sound quality 3. Vibrations are very prominent at full volume. 4. Loudspeaker does not have audible amplitude. Even slight noise in the room and loudspeaker is useless. 5. Speaker is at the back while the microphone is in the front. You cannot talk keeping the inverted phone closer to your ear. Overall, I will not recommend this phone. It is not at all a value for money product as Nokia is famous for. Nokia will definitely lose on its brand equity with Nokia 1202 in its product mix basket.

  • Hi guys, this is the worst phone i ever had. Followinh headaches i went through which made me to sell it. 1.Planty of software bugs, This phone has no stability whenever u type a sms and as it proceeds the typing speed starts slowing and finally when ur text exceeds 160 or near to it, the Phone switch off itself and then restarts. 2.Well noise echo is another problem, Even if u reduce ur handset volume along with echo the sound hearing ability also reduced then u cant listen whatever another party is saying.U need to keep it full and then ur neighbours will be listening what r u talking. 3.Battery backup is also just to say! It discharges quickly when u talk,ya idle stand by time is considerable. 4.The phone`s text typing speed is good! 5.Physical appearance and size/weight is also good. But the drawbacks it has are much more serious than any good thing it has. Plz dont buy this is my personal suggestion. I SOLD WITHIN 45 DAYS

  • thanks for all the comments here which helped me decide to pick this unit up as a back up. used for a couple of days. really like the form factor, lightweight, responsive interface (since no frills), and keypad. only downside is the speaker. wish the earpiece and the loudspeaker are separated. for long calls which I rarely do, it can be annoying to hear the sound coming from the back. Guess using the handsfree (which does not come along in the box but should be able to obtain for probably next to nothing) for long calls may be more comfortable.

  • I bought 1202 a week ago, these are my views about this phone - +Ve 1. Simple styling 2. Light weight 3. Comfortable key pad 4. Good battery life - gives a talk time of ~4 hours -Ve 1. Poor speaker quality (loud speaker) 2. Handset mode sound is very high, the person next to you can easily hear you! Otherwise among the other entry segment phones, this is quite good and a value for money!

  • The Nokia 1202, really does'nt have anything to offer, except that you can make calls and read texts, typing text is a problem cause when you press the 8 key, 0 key also gets pressed. in simple words this is the cheapest cell phone by nokia. the screen is just so childlike, the minute you buy it, the minute you detest it, and i feel it's like my money went down the drain. but still in camparision is it is one of the better 1xxx series phones.

  • I can't believe that Nokia made such a low qualily phone.... The materials are very bad, and the earpeace is missing(it has only an loudspeaker). When you talk other people hear you. I bought this phone because i speak a lot and i was interested in the battery life, but I can;t use this low-class worse phone by nokia, it gives me headache because the volume of the speaker is too high. I was a fan of Nokia models and i had over 30 models.. but my next phone will not be a nokia for shure. Not after I bought this phone... Nokia will loose their clients (and i hope so) beacuse of this stupid phone.

  • Just as I read here the speaker problem is there but in reality worse than it can be defined here and that is the reason I made a mistake and went ahead I bought it even after after reading the reviews. It is a ridiculous problem with no solution the nokia care and united mobile did not help. They are rude and unprofessional people with no customer care orientation. The Nokia 1661 which i bought just a month back had the same problem and i had to sell it the next day on loss and I am on my way to sell this ridiculous 1202 as well. Nokia is the worst brand of this and the past year and this will become a reality. DO NOT BUY THESE PHONES IN PAKISTAN, THERE IS NO REFUND POLICY.

  • It is becuase this use the speaker as the earpiece also. Therefore, there is no difference when you turn on as headset of speaker. This is the most failure of this phone. Beside this , it is a good handphone especially it's long battery life

It has a superb battery life as i charge it twice in a week. Some people say that it has software problems but you can update the software from the Nokia Gallery anytime and get it resolved.   • Bought it as my 2nd set, a week ago, from Singapore Plaza Rawalpindi. Nokia 1202 is really having that speaker problem i.e during call, the sound comes from loud speaker instead of the earpiece, hence no privacy as the person sitting next to you can easily hear the conversation. What I have found is that there is no earpiece in Nokia 1202. The sound comes from loud speaker. Only the volume changes when you switch from handset to loud speaker mode. Nokia has made this move to cut the price. I know it looks ridiculous but you can listen the other person more clearly if you hold it in your hand backwards i.e loud speaker attached to ear and screen facing your palm. Thats totally insane. Nokia should have placed an earpiece in Nokia 1202. The good thing about the phone is its battery. Its battery life is awesome. The battery listed on this site is BL-4C 720 mAh, but the battery which has come with my phone is BL-4C 860 mAh (3.2 Wh). I have charged my phone a week ago when I bought it and it has come to its last bar now despite talking(3:30 hrs call timer) and using its flash light during black-outs. The keypad is also very comfortable.

  • Its a good basic fon. But one thing of dis fon I dont like, dat is its speaker system. The loudspeaker and the handset both working by one speaker. When you talk normally without loudspeaker, it sounds louder from behind then earpiece. It also makes vibration. If there is a seperat speaker for earpiece, dis fon will b better than ever.

  • I agree with 'AK' because i am having the same problem of too much noisy loudspeaker even when i don't use loudspeaker,the voice is too loud while using the handset mode as well. Actually the voice from backspeaker(loudspeaker) is even louder than the earpiece when using handset mode.   • I buy this 1202 on Feb02,'09.it was broke on Mar11. Bring to Nokia Care Indonesia, it takes 1month reparation. Nokia says: there is a problem on the electricity management. So, Nokia change it into a new one (all machine) with the different IMEI. Thank you for Nokia Care Bimasakti Indonesia to do that. Shame on Nokia! 1month use - 1month reparation. The newest Nokia it's not the same with the old one, I mean in the quality product. Mostly now: "Made in China", where is the "Made in Finland" or "Made by Nokia"?   • Simpler Solution to Sound Leakage: Just put a small patch of scotch tape inside the battery cover to block the 10 tiny holes which let the sound out from back. thats it! *ringtone loudness will be affected though.

I had not switched off for a long time and so i switched it off for some time and later when i try to send the SMS, i was able to. From the past two weeks, it started switching off and on (sometimes) on its own when i try to SMS. Today suddenly noise started coming out from the phone (as if the loud speaker was on) and I got afraid and switched off and switched on. Now it looks fine.

  • This phone overall is quite a cheap & usable phone. As for the speaker/buzzer, it uses the same 2.5cm speaker cum buzzer, it means its 2 in 1, just like the Nokia 1600. So its kinda normal for the sound directions to come out from the back part of the phone. What do you expect from such an affordable & cheap phone by Nokia?

  • Thank you for the temperory solution posted by "coreSOLO" about speaker problem, i'll try it when i get my phone back frm "Nokia Care". Within 6 days of purchase the microphone got some problem & my caller was getting cracking sound. they sent it for head office cos that it cant be repaired by local NCare people. Hope i'll get it back in good condition by 10days.

  • Okey here is the clarification and solution (yep, a SOLUTION) to a major 1202 issue. === CLARIFICATION === Yes, while talking in normal (non speaker-phone mode), sound comes out from both front and back side of phone. This sound 'leakage' is so much that someone standing besides you can easily hear what your caller is saying. This is due to the awkward placement of speaker inside such a small body. This issue is there for all the models in all the regions and can not be corrected by firmware update as it is a hardware thing. Also, there is a noticeable and irritating vibration in the top half of phone when your caller talks which is due to metallic interiors of this phone. === SOLUTION === Fortunately, there is a simple yet effective home-made solution for this issue which I did to my set and now its working a lot better. Just take a thin plastic sheet and some tissue papers. Make a thin wrapping of 2 layers of paper and 1 layer of plastic about 3mm X 7mm size. Open battery cover, put this wrapping inside so that it covers the back side specially at top. Put another small piece of paper exactly where the back speaker it. Make sure the wrapping is really thin and does not put any extra pressure on components when you close the back cover and it should not block any cover fixing holes. Now close the back cover with this packing inside. Thats it! For me, this has solved the sound leakage problem by 90% and vibration problem by 70%. Actually both of the problems are non noticeable now. However speakerphone and ringtone volumes will be reduced to 70%. === GENERAL VERDICT === Apart from the discussed issue, this phone is really nice. Its small, light and the curve design makes it really very comfortable to hold. Screen is white backlit which looks professional and has been shifted up unlike other nokia phones which results in better keypad and great texting. On the bad side, it stores only 60 sms (on phone). Also if you dial text info numbers (like *123# for balance enquiry), sometimes it is unable to process such requests, but sometimes it works fine.

  • I agree with all the postings of Yasir, Khantastic & W.B Mike. The worst thing in 1202 is the failure of basic function i.e TALKING. Man its crazy that when you talk, the voice of other person comes from the back-speaker. It's irritating & non-privacy. Only good things are: 1. Flash light 2. Schduled messaging. (You can set future date & time for sending messages) You should see the pros & cons before bying this phone.

  • I confirm "Khantastic Report". This phone is good....but the ear-speaker really sucks! The voice of other person comes not from the ear-piece...but from the external speaker at the back-side of phone. What is this? Did Nokia people make a mistake? Did they place the ear-speaker in wrong direction? This is the big fault in this phone.

  • YOu have obviously not seen a phone from the 90s. I have been using mobile phones since 1990. This phone ranks right up there for versatility and practicality. I currently use iPhone (terrible battery) but for regular voice calls, I would easily use Nokia 1202 over anything else.

  • I used this phone during my recent visit to India. During my 10 weeks usage, I was very impressed with this handset. In areas, where my Blackberry could not get signal coverage, this little trusted phone worked beautifully. The voice quality was excellent. Easy to use. All features were easy to use. Battery life was excellent. Charging stations and battery adapters are widely avaiable. The phone also has a built in LED flashlight if you are ever stuck in the dark (common in India) with bright enough lights to let you avoid cow dungs etc., Over all, excellent phone for under $30!!!

  • A stupid phone ever I have seen, whenever you talk to anyway the voice from back speaker is higher then the ear piece. Also the voice from ear piece is vibrating all the time and 70% of conversation is hard to understand even if you are in a silent room. I just waste my Rs. 2600/-. Please do not buy this phone. I don�t know why Nokia haven�t detected and resolve the bug.

  • This phone doesn't serve the first purpose: Communication. The speaker is awful. Even at the lowest volume, the sound sort of "leaks out" from the back of the phone. Now who gives a damn about talk time? Nobody can talk for 8 hours on this torture phone. I keep yelling, "What? What?" and it's so irritating for both parties. I am a heavy mobile-phone user, and I bought this phone solely for the purpose of talking; but I'm greatly disappointed in this piece of crap. I like the cool creamy white backlight though. Conclusion: Don't buy it. Settle for something else. Nokia 1208 is good, but its keypad sucks. It swells out after a few days. For those who want to continue using 1202, there's a solution for the bad speaker. Remove the back cover and dial your customer support center, e.g., dial 310 for Zong Pakistan, and when you hear the recording, put your finger over the speaker on the back. It's that black square on the back of your phone. Make sure that when you do that, the volume is not maximum but is somewhere around 2nd level. As soon as you put the finger, you'll notice that the sound will get better. That's because the sound won't "leak out" from the back. Haha. There's a big outlet at the back, while just a small one - and even that is not direct - at the front. What actually happens is that the greater part of the sound energy is lost from the back. It reflects back from the front and "leaks out" of the back because there is ample room for it to escape. So while listening to that recording, try lifting the finger and putting it back on. You'll like the voice better. Cut something solid (as big as the speaker square) and glue or tape it to the speaker square on the back (the black space). There you go. You have yourself a Nokia 1202 with good sound quality. A message for the sleeping beauties at gsmarena: This phone's been out in the market since a month now-- perhaps more. Do you mind updating its availability status?

  • Just bought the phone for ~38USD in Iran Battery is great as well as the look and weight I found two problems: -Earpiece problem (as you all know by now) -Screen polarization problem (you can not see the screen using a polarized sunglass, you need to turn the screen 90 degrees) I think NOKIA will lose the market if doesn't look into these small but annoying problems.   • buddy multiple phonebook means you can make different phone books like phonebook 1 you will store lets say 20 contacts in this book. then you will make another book lets say containing 5 contacts. now you are allowed to turn on 1 book at a time. in contacts menu you will turn on ph book 1 then you will see 20 contacts in your phone. now if you activate book two you will see only 5 contacts. ok like this you can make 5 books.

The problem as some users say (I don't know, I do not own this 1202 yet) is that conversations can be heard by someone who stands closer to us because "sounds" comes from the normal from speaker but from rear speaker also, right? But mobile-review don't mention that "bug"...could this be true in just some first units?

  • I see... When I typed that my 1112 can hold about 80 I was talking about Inbox. But my SIM card can hold only 20 SMS (I'm sure about this) and in my 1112 right now for instance I have 71 SMS in the Inbox and 25 in the Sent Items.. it's strange isn't it? What's the real SMS capacity of the 1112? Can somebody solves this question? (Note the 25 in the Sent Items folder it's the max it can have there...it deletes older messages automatically)

  • @joe The Phone Memory For sms Is 60...But Then you have your sim card sms memory also...so if ur phone memory is full then ur sms uses ur sim allotted sms memory...if ur sim has the memory of 30 messages then u can store almost 80 sms in ur phone... I hope u undertstand...And Experts Do I Have Share My knowledge right or wrong...Do Correct me if i m wrong... Thanks

  • Worst ever Phone By nokia...Wasted Rs1350.00 on it,Vibrates while speaking to the other person and also can hear voice of the person with whom u are speking with from speaker as well as headset...got so much irritated that left it back at the nokia Store without even Asking For a Refund......   • This phone has lot of software issues!!!! when u recieve or dial calls the voice of the person whom u talk comes from both earpiece & speaker located at the back of the phone and it really irriates and voilates your privacy.very bad phone.low graded build and software.

  • any body say what is problem in my nokia 1202? I am unable to make second call to any network by this phone only going miss call, only first call work for next call require to switch off phone. I updated software but problem still. It come back from customer care L3 stage. Plz help?

  • Tariq-BH...Thanks for the info. I bought the Nokia 1200 and the 1208 and had to give them away as ringtones are not loud enough and the keypads are rubbish. Had to go back to using my Nokia 1600 which has very comfortable keypad and louder ringtones. I will give this a try when it becomes available in my area as I want flashlight and calender. Wish nokia would relaunch the Nokia 1101 as I prefer monophonic ringtones. Ah the good old days! Take care....

  • yes it does.. i think you mean the desk phone tone? that tone is a bit lower than others there are some good tones and very loud compared to other sets i tried. one more thing i like about the phone is the big clock on the display in the idle mode. when you get such a basic phone those little details makes big difference hehe i think people looking for a very basic phoen that calls and texts with good battery will be satisfied with this set. im using the phone for two days now and the battery indicator still showing full. i wish nokia 6300 had the same battery life :)) take care

  • Its waste buying this phone.. signal reception is too poor.Signal vanishes when dialing a call and having switch it on again , to get the signal back.Vibration is also weak.Battery too is not excellent.

  • hello guys i just bought one. its slim and nice. chose this one because i wanted a slim BASIC with good battery and good keypad for texting. no need for bluethooth, memory or camera.. i listen to music on my other phone (sony ericsson w380) so this is a good backup phone and i might end up using it more than my other phone becasue its light and very easy to use. the keypad is great for texting. you can type fast especially if you use T9 like me. it fets very well in the pocket and the ringing and call volume are both LOUD. reception is excellent. one funny think i noticed about the phone is you feel a little vibration at the back cover as other people talk to you! but nothing bad..its a very low cost phone and i think its suit anyone who wants a basic phone with good reception, loud volume, easy keypad for texting and good battery. i will inform you all if anything goes wrong with this phone in the coming days! take care all

  • I have been able to lay hands on the handset in a shop (India). This does not have FM radio. Difference between 1200 and 1202 seems to be the white light LCD screen against yellow light lcd screen of 1200 and some ring tones. It has the same texture rubber mat key board of 1200, this being black mat against white or silvery of 1200. The handset is slightly bigger than 1200 particularly near the last row of * 0 # keys which may be more comfortable for SMS texting / dialing in single hand. It is slimmer than 1200, ofcourse.

  • phone looks good, FM Radio is a addition in 12 series it is good for use, but you can keep only 200 in phone memorey which should be increasd at 500 minimum.

  • this is what i call useful. it's better having a monochrome display than a crappy colour one. the one used on 1208 or 2310 is a colour one for nothing. you cannot watch photos or videos. why do you need a colour display then? anyway i just read in today's newspaper that this will be an extremly cheap phone. about 25euros?

  • Well, Nokia shows their new low-end phones for the lowest range of the market and for developing countries... This is a copy of the legendary Nokia 1100 and a lower copy of the 1208... Let`s see how many points it takes this little phone... Design: 6 (Good design, like i read before it seems very similar to Motorola�s design but still well, clean finish and passable keypad to make tihs phone confotable... display it�s a little small but is enough for this low-end device) Features: 4 (I was thinking in putting a 3 but flashlight and radio give a point more, this phone has just what you need to keep in touch with everyone, sms and phonecalls.. very useful, but still a 4 only) Performance: 9 (Great battery life to keep the phone on a very long time... you know people, the lower phones have a great performance... that�s a rule) Great simple phone... Nokia 1208 is very similar and you have some colors there (65k, passable) but you don�t have the radio and the performance is a little lower... so people how needs this lower phones will make the choice... See ya!

  • Previous Nokia 1200, 1208 and 1650 are rubbish phones because keypads are rubbish and ringtones are not loud enough. You cannot hear these phones ringing outdoors. I will be surprised if this is any different. Nokia used to make great basic phones like the Nokia 1100, 1112, 1600, 3410 etc... I would like Nokia to launch a basic phone with flashlight, FM radio, small font SMS, loudspeaker and monophonic ringtones because they are louder and most of their polyphonic ringtones are awful. Nokia no longer make decent basic phones : FACT!
