Nokia 6136 - User Reviews

  • Thanks for explaining. I got really confused for a second, no way would such phone have Wi-Fi and be released in 2006!

  • The "wifi" on these phones is only for UMA, which is basically a way using Wifi to connect mobile phone calls. Mobile phone operators stopped using UMA some time back, rending the Wifi on this handset pointless.

  • had my nokia 6136 for 3 years now .Love it my kids keep telling me to get a new one but i love my 6136 pink mobile .

  • I had this phone. Accidentally put it in a small puddle of water, and the battery shortened or something similar and it didn't work well after that. Started to work well after I had dried the battery, but eventually totally lost its images.

  • i cannot use the wifi.each time they show that a wifi network is found but it doesnt connect.

  • To whom it may concern, i bought the phone, and at tfirst it worked all right , but then i had some problems with it, as the battery did not last as long as they said it would and i had to charge it up every 2days, then i changed the battery, and it seemed to worked alright, but now i have a problem with getting onto the network, and when i call my provider they say that i may have changed something in the phone , and i know that i have not done so. I bought the phone in barbados, at a place called wireless world, last year. Wheni told them about the problem , they did not seem to interested to do anything about it, and the phone costed me alot of money.

  • oh yes, and how are we going to transfer files easily as those with bluetooth?

  • Why it hasn't got Bluetooth???

  • i've had this phone for three years now and it still works brilliantly. no battery problems and no other funny behaviour. excellent phone!

  • Could anyone help me to unlock the wifi? The phone was unlocked from t-mobile but not the wifi.

  • Try joiku spot it manages wifi on Nokia. You can share your network and connect many computers to it trough adhoc.

  • I must say this phone is da bomb it has every features one needs and it connects fast when browsing. Nokia6136 is the one of the best fone i have ever used, So pls go and try it.

  • wtf is this?

  • Is the a fone? If so may god those that are using it.

  • my father baught it some days ago.i havent got the chance to operate it.so how can i say about it?

  • hey guys..this phone sucks.i've had it for almost a year coz i m stil saving money 2 get a new better phone. this phone dies suddenly when ure talking.it happens all da time now.i hate it!!

  • why this crappy phone with a 128 x 160 pixels display has wifi?!! surf the web? NO. i hope it does too good in voip, at least.

  • This phone is absolutely terrible. Ive had this phone for at least 7 months and I hate it. The camera quality is horrendously grainy, the front scratches very easily and it has a horrible battery life. I was looking at another nokia, but this phone kinda killed it for me. i dont understand what it is with at&t - their phone selections suck. Its either one thing or another. Ive been looking for anohter phone and ive gone through so many reviews and finally decided on the samsung a737. I loved everything about it, every feature...and then we had a rain spell, and I couldnt even use it because no one could hear me. what crap. cingular better catch up to par or im going back to verizon.

  • not bluetooth but wi-fi O_o thats nice xD ive always wanted a cell phone like that =) and it looks good too.

  • No bluetot???But the style is simple 10

  • it is too stylish

  • I was given this phone by a friend - wasnt expecting much but really like it - just upgraded to Nokia 6300 but thinking of going back to this... a bit sad as its supposed to be a class beneath but I like the flip think more and functionality is the same.

  • wifi is similar to bluetooth but faster/bigger range - uses more battery so drain phone life and doesnt have so many apps/gadgets like headsets you can link up to. BT do a service with this phone where they use the wifi to connects you internet for cheaper calls.

  • No bluetooth. Please read up the DATA.

  • no bluetoth????

  • I check the phone sceps in nokia.com but no unit 6136 is available..

  • Can someone confirm that this 6136 really does not have bluetooth? anyone?

  • Can anybody inform me how to get email working on the 6136. I have downloaded advanced settings but it still does not work. After sending I get a message (Secure login required check account settings) but I cant work it out, thanks

  • prince u can get this handset within the car phone ware house dependin where u r located ,,

  • fantastic

  • Can anybody tell me the exact function of Wi-Fi? How is it different from GPRS,EDGE and 3G? Is it useful on every network? I am from India and we have network like Airtel,Hutch,Idea etc. Thanx in advance!

  • This phone is available now in the UK on Orange, mainly available in the Orange Shops

  • You'd think that with the 6131 and the 6133 that they'd improve camera the 6136. That is the only thing that annoys me. I have a 6131 and if they 6133 or the 6136 had a better camera i'd buy it tomorrow!

  • Who on earth would want to go online with a display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels?? Ridiculous!

  • The Nokia 6136 is not so good though it looks cool. The Wi-Fi capability is only available with UMA, i.e. you can't use only Wi-Fi at will, at least with the current firmware. Has someone found a way to hack the phone so that it can be possible to use Wi-FI independently of the operator UMA stuff ? Please post about.

  • beware - this phone does not offer uma out of the box. it is network specific!!!! ie orange or tmobile or cingular have to enable the function from the network end, you cannot enable it from the phone - stick with the nokia e60 for an inbuilt sip client

  • Don't need Bluetooth! I realy prefer Wi-Fi 802.11b/g! (54Mbps)

  • this phone is still coming SOON? by the time it comes out, the no Bluetooth and only 1.3 MP cam will not be tolerable anymore.

  • I thought Nokia's 6125 battery was 5hr talk time! (magic for 820 mAh? -Really bytheway 720 mAh!). Here we have the twin of that phone with a more honest battery specs from Nokia! 3hr TALK TIME! I just hope that most people who use Nokia, Motorola and Sony phones already know that this fact, thet if the battery between 700 and 100 mAh, then it suck! (especially on hig resolutions screan phones)

  • without bluetooth?don't buy this phone la..

  • There are a lot of places on the world where wifi isn't awailable. And bluetooth isn't only for a earphone device, for example I use it for transfer data between my cellphone and a determinated PC, where I want, it's more comfortable than a data cable... besides, on this time a phone without a basic function (whatever, could be bluetooth, camera, mp3 player, etc) is a incomplete phone... defenitively Nokia made a mistake here...

  • At last a small phone with wifi, no bluetooth so what? If you insist on looking stupid with a bluetooth earpiece thinking you look cool then choose from the 10000000 other phones available. But if you want a useful phone with wifi get this or something the size of a brick. Bluetooth is just a limited version of wifi anyway, soon you will see wlan headsets for all the people who insist on looking like a borg dork anyway.

  • It doesnt have BT & iR because have WiFi. if you like the other connections buy a 6131.

  • i'm from Argentina & here YES it have bluetooth... so, i don't know... somebody more that know about this?

  • I rather this phone have BT than IR. more practical. Oh well...

  • it has wifi but it hasnt bluetooth????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • If they would have added QVGA and bluetooth it would be very good. Now its just average.

  • device is nice but camera does not take very clear pictures ,and falls short because bluetooth is not included

  • Very good, with wifi !! it's available the 5 of october in France...

  • what the diffrent with 6131 ?

  • come on, seems nice, useless without bluetooth, so?????

  • Pretty good, but UNAVAILABLE! Does someone know where/when buy it?

  • its really a big brother to the 6125, jus larger int. & ext. screens, Wireless lan 802-11bg + 32Mb. with NO bluetooth. so you should choose the 6125 if you want the bluetooth instead of Wireless Lan 802.11.

  • nice phone and all.. juss can't understand why they didn't equip it w/bluetooth?! is there a phone exactly like this with bluetooth?

  • This phone looks good. comething that im looking for.someone please tell me what is the price of this phone. Thanks RC

  • its a great phone and it has all the small things that you really use in cell phone, in my opinion any other opinion is wrong.

  • michael if you think bluetooth its more important that making calls you should go and buy a k510. with wifi you can make free calls, like a week ago tons of wifi spots were open FREELY in my country, my n80 couldn't be happier, i am quite a lot in 3G EDGE cost... either way i am changing to a data unlimited plan on december. when my n83 / n95 will be close to it release.

  • is this phone out? sounds like its slow to market but hey slow is good.. lool at the fiasco of the nokia 6280.

  • who says this phone cannot be possible to have wifi.. its has the UMA technology, jus like samsung's P200...whao the technology seems great..free mobile calls...

  • because there is a bluetooth version, 6125. and if u have more money 6131!!! don't be so lame where you are going to find a phone this small with wifi?

  • why it hasnt bluetooth

  • wifi/uma is for swiching between your home number and your mobile number. if your in the area of your basestation at your home you swich automatic to your home number.

  • I think that It's a great phone, but, I do too think that the 6131 It's better, and nicer, It is just my opinion

  • yeah but- can we acutally USE the WiFi ? Is it just for switiching between GSM and Wifi ?

  • I don't care about the bluetooth. but it have WLAN and it seems to be a cheap handset... I really need Wireless, and bluetooth is just an optional. This is my opinion. And after this, i think that it is cute.

  • no bluetooth for more security .peopeles can see what in youre phone from a laptop +u have wlan, it's not symbian also that might be a good reason

  • everything is ok but why no bluetooth it is stupid that is all....

  • This seems like the best all round phone. Except for one thing. Where is the bluetooth?I thoughtthat bluetooth was a standard feature these days. How stupid.

  • The Nokia 6136, to me, is a perfect phone. It's a nice clamshell design that features not only EDGE, but Wi-Fi, as well. Given that it isn't too expensive, I would certainly consider getting this as a backup phone. Plus, phones are fun to collect.

  • it's a good phone.... one thing though... the numeric pad - it's borig - reminds me of the 3310

  • wifi ruined by a 128x160 screen

  • 6136 is perfect as a secondary phone when u dont want to take ur big expensive smartphone with u. I love how it as a small phone has wifi.

  • then, how would you explain N80 with wifi and bluetooth together.

  • haha, nokia thinks that bluetooth will disapear so in lowclass buisness phone will use wifi :) such a laugh. i'm a fan of them, but they are again giving faults

  • What are you guys complaining about ? Don't you know that WiFi and Bluetooth does not work together and that it would cause interference ?

  • i cant belive that it got noooo Bluetooth, can i know why, and how cust. will find it!!!

  • I just got mine today the phone is fine but i have a problem with the ear piece speaker it sounds rattaly like talking throgh tin foil does anybody know of this problem

  • i think this fone is good but its better how it doesnt have bluetooth coz hackers can go on a laptop and get all your personal info and they can start stalkin u and all...

  • Its a very nice phone to use.The battery last very well to copare with other nokia phones i ve' used.

  • they 'forgot' the bluetooth! now many pple use the convenience of bluetooth headset for phone conversations so for phones like this which is not low-end phones they should really include bluetooth in it....no need a2dp and stuff, just those basic profiles will do...

  • Stupid phone !! it have WLAN but it doesn't have Bluetooth !!

  • Nokia specs clearly show this phone DOES NOT have Bluetooth. If you want Bluetooth in the same form factor you need to get the 6125 (but then you don't get WLAN). Of course then there is the 6131 which is better than the 6125 anyway.

  • i will said it again, this phone have wifi. the 6125 bluetooth they are indentical in the rest of the features (screen in the only exception). if you want bluetooth go for the 6125/6131 if you want the wifi (FREE VOICE IP CALLS!!!) go for the the 6136

  • Its nice that this phone has a WLAN, but its a pitty that it has no BLUETOOTH. I think that this is a mistake of NOKIA. I think that I buy the 6125 because I need the Bleutooth!

  • This would have to be one of the best looking phones I have seen in a long time. I am so impressed. 10 Points to Nokia for making a handset that looks.........quite simply, amazing.... The 6136, WOW!

  • what do you mean that theres no bluetooth, apparantly acording to nokias specs there is blue tooth on the phone

  • I wish this phone had the design of the 6131. Either way, I'll probably pick this up as a second phone.

  • hey nettles, just curious how did the laptop guy get other people's phones to enter into pairing mode and then enter the password required for connection??? sorry, but your story sounds like a new urban legend. no offense. seems i had previously heard that nokia had recognized bluetooth technology as an essential feature on modern phones, just like text messaging and were going to include it as standard basic equipment on their phones. surprised that they would skimp on such a practical and now common feature on a mid to high priced phone like this one.

  • It is not good i already have it and it broke into 20,00000 pieces i already have it it is all lies that it is coming soon. so don't bye it. this is a hint.

  • dont get me wrong i love mp3's, 2mp's, bluetooth and all the other funky stuff you get on a phone. is nice that for once someone hasnt got bluetooth. as i said before the older generation will go for this as they have no us or idea about mp3's and stuff (bless them). it seems a basic simple phone which the world is really missing to be honest. if you dont agree then thats cool let me know you opinion. x

  • this phone is just like a updated late version of the nokia 6101 without the areal. im not a fan but i can see the older generation going for it.

  • For everyone that has asked about the Nokia 6136 having no Bluetooth well heres a story i wish to share with you. There was a guy sitting casually in a cafe with his laptop. He was able to open Bluetooth ports of other peoples mobile phones from his laptop. He was able to copy everyones phonebook directories and messasges from their inbox and outbox and also their multimedia messages. So please think about what technology is capable of and dont bag it out. Not everyone wants their private information shared with the world. Thanks Regards Nettles

  • this phone is not stylish very basic, quite crappy looking actually not checked its functions though, dont think i want to. the n70 in my mind was a great handset and always will be a great phone. i must say i do not recommend this handset to people who are into phone accessories

  • It's a fine phone

  • Luke - I agree with you. I did the same thing. I am really disappointed with Mokias .I had the N70 and chagned for a Sumsung , then I had the 6270 and changed back to a samsung with relief. Nokia announce hpones very quickly and then they take ages to be released. The designs are really bad too.

  • this phone is nice... ugly in design but functionally like Motorola V3i. Between V3i and 6136 I prefeer last, for trust...

  • Yes, the phone can connect at a hotspot. I hate the look of the keypad.

  • The wifi on the cellphone can it be used to coonect a hotsopt?

  • well... another "look a like" phone isn`t it?... well... i see here Nokia is failing very much in offering us a good phone, there is nothing from the part of nokia that can be compared of the technologies of Sony-Ericsson... the good point here is the support of nokia, i mean, Nokia Phones are extreme durable over other companies... i hope some day this Durability be mixed well whit the best technology in Ir, Bluethoot, Wi Fi, camera resolution AND Memory!...

  • How come nokia hardly build series 60 anymore? Last I checked was the Nseries

  • I completely agree with Kal here, i think Nokia are seriously failing to bring out decent looking phones. How can they be so naive, I always used to buy Nokias, but beacuse i cannot find a Nokia that actually looks good i switched to Samsung and bought a Z320i, thats a good looking phone with all of the latest facilities.

  • nokia is pretty much chucking cellphones with this similar design at us everyday. pretty cool, i guess

  • boring!!! this fone is ugly looking...

  • Nokia - why are you leaving out Bluetooth ? Phone makes always do crap like that. We'll give you Wifi ,UMA but can't have Bluetooth ! Just taking your customers for a ride- for once Nokia (except Nokia N80 ) ..........PLEASE just put all the necessary features into your phones and STOP leaving things out because the laugh is on your loyal customers.

  • Whats worng with Nokia desingers. I'm just a graphic designer and I can even design a better keypad layout. The same boring Ugly keypad again and again. Come on!!

  • No bluetooth!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!

  • oh man this phone looks real nice... and the specs are pretty decent too. Almost perfect for my taste except there is no Bluetooth. but WLAN 802.11b AND g! WOW!. Can't believe it! I can't even find a handheld that supports 802.11g. Sweet..

  • Bluetooth usefull but not available. %(

  • Bad Toooooooooooo Bad,,,

  • in the official nokia press release of this phone it is clearly written that this phone's internal display is 256K and not 16M as it is written here. because of this, i'm going with the 6131, although wlan would have been nice.

  • Good looking phone!

  • nokia good job!

  • people people you got 2 choices, this one and the 6125!!! one have bluetooth the other have wifi!!! as your taste, but really wifi, its faster, more laptops support Wifi than bluetooth.

  • boring fone! no bluetooth!!!

  • this is definetely my next phone! hope it'll be available soon in Romania.

  • NO BLUETOOTH!awww shame..ill go for the 6135 then..^^

  • No bluetooth!! Damn! Bluetooth is very important

  • It does not offer BT, but, look, WLAN in the phone which will cost only abt 275 Euro!

  • better design and 2mpix camera should put this phone into my list! For now the phone on the top is SE P990

  • man......whenever nokia comes out with a phone it will always have some kind of disadvantage.....this phone has almost everythin but no bluetooth.....wtf???

  • For the love of everything good! Not every phone nowadays has to have bluetooth! I work for Nokia nad we spend a long time tring to think of the different markets for the phones we want to produce, and sometimes, bluetooth just isn't essential. There will be another version of this phone coming out that DOES have bluetooth though, due out in July 2006.

  • id rather have the bluetooth than the wifi

  • i've got a question.why doesn't it have a 2 MP camera? it's a shame

  • this is the best phone i've ever seen.i love it's style.its great.

  • it have wifi, thats alot more technology than BT, BT is only useful to headsets, to connect its really slow, you get 20kbites - 30kbites max, wifi its way faster

  • if it doenst have bluetooth it will be 30euros cheaper than the 6125, either way i think the 6131 its the BOMB =D

  • here we go again...NO BLUETOOTH!!!!!!!!! wtf is going on with nokia man. i snap!

  • Is it possible to use the WLAN, since bluetooth isn't available? Or how does the UMA technology work?? "Uses Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology - giving you GSM/GPRS voice and data services over an affordable broadband connection"

  • Great Phone. Nokia just seems to be poping them out really fast right now. Trying to regain market share after Motorola just sunk their teeth too deep. Fantastic phone. Just like the 6125 but with more internal memory. One thing though? Where is the BLUETOOTH? I can't see myself buyinhg a phone with all the gagdets and there is no BT to install and transfer them off the memory. the cable is fine, but cable's life compared to the speed and durability of wireless connectivity just cannot be compared. Maybe they brought this phone unto the marked for those who are just not into the BT technology for security reasons. Put the BT oneside, this phone is great.

  • nowadays new hp should at least be 2mp, but only comes in 1.3,too bad as this phone looks pretty good

  • Nice idea with UMA, other than that a good-looking, rather basic phone... And to #2: So how exactly could you have any experience with that phone if it is coming in Q2 (in almost 2 months, the earliest?)

  • Why have wi-fi with no bluetooth? That is so backwards!

  • Nice phone, a bit low resolution on display, otherwise fine...

  • an idea stretched to extreme... please Nokia, don't release this phone

  • WORST....the worst phone i ever had...DO NOT BUY this phone...this is all i want to say!

  • 16M colors, but only 128*160 pixels
