Nokia 6170 - User Reviews

  • Still have it. condition 7/10 (changed batteries a few times). rarely used.

  • this was my favourite phone of all time, and I still have it. Does anyone know if it can be made Bluetooth?

  • Appears to be running S80 or S60 (Series 60 or 80) of the old Symbian.

  • my aunt gave 1 0f these XD very g00d m0b

  • What is OS version for it?

  • internet

  • I don't think that you find a new one. You'll find only second hand phones like this.

  • I want to buy this phone new. Any ideas where I can get it?

  • i still use this phone... i bought it new in 2005, and it-s still working... quality from the age when nokia still made phones in finland... the battery is now hold like 4 days in a normal use i love this phone, i-m gonna hold on to it for another 7 years :))))

  • dis was on of my first phone....and i luv it to bits

  • Yes I can Help you. Its Mike and Speaker won't work. same happened with me last december... I changed it and now its perfect...

  • This happened to me too! Gutted. It only works if you press "loudspeaker" when you answer, so no embarrassing conversations in public..

  • I have had mine since it first came out. Just brillient. However, recently, it has decided to 'go silent'. It rings OK, sms alert tone ok. BUT, if i make/receive a call i cannot hear the caller, and they cannot here me. Can anyone help?

  • i had this phone when it first came out, since then ive had about 20(i lost 10 in a year)and the reception was better than on most of my phones since-including toccos genio slides sony music phones and many top of the range mobiles-great phone, all that was missing was a colour display (i think) and camera was good also

  • Its hard to beat, my Nokia 6280 just died and I found my old 6170 and it charged up no prob after over 2 years of non-use !!

  • does it have earphone?

  • there is radio....i have one and it works

  • No BT and radio :(

  • If you havent already got one I got one on ebay last night for $68 included postage brand new and unlocked couldnt believe my luck, good luck.

  • I found one on ebay last night for $69 with free postage and I agree it was the best Nokia ever sold I Had mine for 2 years before it died. I know it doens't have the bigger camera but its easy to use I can see the numbers and can't wait for it to arrive.

  • Best phone I've ever had. Still have it after 5 years! Working perfectly. I am looking for a newer replacement though. Preferably clamshell with great keypad. Any suggestions?

  • Was a solid phone with the best typing keypad EVer

  • I've had a lot of old cellphones (Siemens C35, A50, C45), and one old Samsung X-100, but for allready some time I use this cellphone and I must say that it is great! If I compare it to any of this old cellphones i see that this one is the best I have ever had.

  • best phone I have ever used. solid, frill-free. Never lets you down. No fireworks.

  • I had used this mobile for some time, and I think it is the best phone I have used in its category. It is simple, stylish, rock solid and not expansive. If you want to have a phone for calling and messages, this is the best option. Keypad is fantastic to write SMS. In its category I rate this phone 9 stars.

  • i've had mine since 2004.work real well in the u.s.still using it today.

  • I've had this phone since Feb 05, nearly 5 years! This is a really solid phone and was a rare find for $300 outright at the time. Great solid phone, I've dropped it many times with no problems. Kinda get sick of deleting SMS all the time because the memory is full. Other than that, this is a damn good phone. Sure it doesn't have good internet, camera, music, storage etc but that's what other devices are for. It does calls and SMS well and that's all I wanted. The battery life is AMAZING, I charge it maybe once or twice a week, my wife's iPhone is on charge every night. Looking for an upgrade soon, want to get a decent camera phone w/ 3g internet.

  • this phone is not touch ay ya ya i hate it i have had it for about 5 years.

  • OMG what do you people do to your phones ? I've been using this phone since I first purchased it in 2004 and , the key pad is still intact , the housing is scratch free , both displays function properly , the reception is outstanding , the speaker will break your ear drum , and the battery life is awesome. First off I've seen a lot of people say the phone scratches easially , Ok well if you toss it in the glove box to get scrambled around everytime you take a sharp turn , it will scratch. If you throw it in your purse next to a big cluster of keys it will scratch LOL. If you carry it in your jeans pocket and bump into the door jam the outer display will crack ( pressure crack ) if you expose it to moisture ( standing in the pouring rain having a conversation ) you could damage the speakers. The bottom line is TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHONE ! It will treat you as good as you treat it.

  • i have this phone for almost 4 YEARS. it works just like in the first day there were some problems with the screen-saver jamming when u close and open the lid fast, but if u deactivate the "open lid to answer call" function, it will never jamm again. the other anoying thing was the scratching of the display from the keys. that are the only problems i`m gonna hold this phone untill it drops dead :-) P.S. the battery still has a 5 day uptime in idle, and 4 hrs in conversation IMAGINE THAT

  • my camera is not working good and mine has radio. but its not playing and my charging point is also bad. pls can someone tell me wat to do [email protected]

  • Yes, it works perfectly well in the U.S. I got mine from the Orient in Nov., 2006. Never had a problem. I never replaced the battery since I bought it. Unlike other cells, you need to replaced the battery after 2 years. It is the best phone I ever had. It doesn't get overheat while battery is being charged. The best phone I ever had. I bought it for $300 back then. You can have the fonts adjusted to large font and I don't even need my glasses to read messages. It stores about 500 messages. VEry good cell, if it's available, get it. And if you use it with another sim card while you are in another country, it is functional as is. I used it when I travel to the Orient. No problem at all since I had it. Get it where available.

  • yes, it works perfectly in u.s. i got mine from the orient in nov. 2005 and never have a problem. i never replaced the battery since i bought it. unlike other cells, you need to get a new battery after 2 years. 6170 is the best phone i ever had. it doesnt even get hot while charging so i don't worry about overheating. you can have the fonts enlarged and so visible even if i don't buy glasses. i save txt messages from the time i bought it. it holds about 500 including photos. very durable and had not encountered any problem so i never had to take for repair. and if you go out of the country, and get a sim card other than the one you used, it is still functional as is. you'll never regret to have this phone. get it where it is available.

  • my cellphone can't get signal when i'm at the house................

  • It was my first phone ever and i loved it so much! The keys were so easy to use becasue they werent cramped and they were big. If you put a picture on the main display it is so clear. I love the fact that it has a mini display! For some it might be annoying that it doesnt have Bluetooth but you can record things really well! I loved my phone and i miss it so much that i am saving up to buy a new...................... (drumroll) NOKIA 6170!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmmm... lemme see, around 2004 as well? anyway, bought this, had it for 3 months, then sold it. i hate the cam. it sucks! but loved it for 2 months...

  • I've had this phone for 3-4 years and I'm totally in love with it, although it has these flaws: 1. keys are falling 2. very low memory, no possibility to increase 3. it accepted only one mp3 in all its history with me On the upside, it never let me down in the middle of the conversation, the sound is good... Now I'm looking for a replacement (nokia 4ever) and I can't find any...

  • my infrared is not functioning well!!

  • It was the best phone i ever had. Durable, compatible, lovely............. I miss it so much

  • yes, this phone does work in the US on the gsm networks like at&t and t-mobile

  • owww, im missin my nokia 6170, It was the most durable phones i ever had, it never failed to work it never hanged, never been broken to bring it to service, and i never replaced the battery since 2004, when it first came out. but I dont have it now any longer, my mom bought me a nokia 2680 slide and nokia 2630 which i am using right now. and she get my nokia 6170, so now im missin it. but its fine, dis phone, it gave me perfect service, from 2004 up to sept of 2008. =)

  • Hi can any one tell me if this phone works in the US??? Thanks!!!

  • it`s really a nice phone,i`m so proud for it,but i think it needs additional memory .

  • we have recently purchased a freeloader solar charger for our brand new all singing all dancing itouch and it works perfect for charging the itouch but alas it does not charge my 6170 .is there anyone else having the same problem

  • this is an overall great phone if you could only make use of all the features (PTT, email, IM, etc) and if they managed to put external memory since 2.2MB shared memory is not really enough even for just contacts. i've had this phone for 3 years already.

  • Not a good phone. Holds about 10 photos and comes with a bunch of junk that wastes the little space it has. It's such a dull phone, grey and black is gross and there's pretty much no colour when using it.

  • I am using this fantastic phone and I think Nokia should use the battery and component development of this model on other models also. Its so strong and can withstand any kind of situation. I love this phone....

  • This phone in once is best,of other phones: that is theyr "KEYBOARD" very nice & very easy & very good handly

  • it's a good phone. i am so satisfy with it. inspite of i have it for 3 years, i havent ever chenged it's bottery(belive me).

  • I still have mine from almost 3 years ago and I think it's a lovely phone although it is now beginning to show its age. This phone has survived almost 3 years of HARD knocks and still works like an absolute charm. I want to upgrade to a N82 or N96 but we'll see. In my opinion, nothing beats a Nokia.

  • A nice phone though very heavy to carry around. I've been with one for almost three years but its now worn out. Very expensive to change the housing despite it being kind of plastic.Well, i don't regret having it. It looks cool and expensive which technically is of poor quality.

  • The best 'phone there just about. Really excellent excellent telephone. Nokia - check. Steely finish - check. Flip (active) cell - check. Big buttons - check. Big easy-read screen - check, & standard 'Low' ringing tone - check. This portable phone is the best. Brilliant, had it 3 or 4 years. Cannot recommend it enough. Sturdy and inexpensive. Natural to use. If you want a camera, buy one. If you want a radio, go & buy one, if you want a music player... Nokia 6170 - brilliant unit. After a loooong time the speaker can go (where the person can hear you but you can't hear them), but they are a pound or 2 on eBay. Dial *#06# for the IMEI number, & *#0000# for the software version, as it is with any Nokia. Imagine this company started out making rubber wellington boots and car tyres, & now produce the best battery phones.

  • perfect phone for me. dont need 3G phone

  • At first I did not appreciate this phone a lot,but it is very easy to use and very durable.I just hate the fact replacing the case is too expensive!crap!but still, love it!

  • I have it for 3 years now and I must say it's a GOOD phone even though I was angry with its lack of memory at first and I NOW have problems with the fact that sometimes I can't hear anything- but that's all, no other problems what so ever.

  • thats beautiful phone but! no bluetooth...

  • After a year of using that phone here are my opinions: - love the design, phone is beautifull - just broke, I hear no voice, except when on speakerphone, - "steel" design is only cheap paint that wears off easily - 2MB is useless - scraches easily - basically I would have never buy it if I knew

  • this phone's really nice.i've had it for a while now,a year.the features, suck.camera and all.the design of the phone is really nice, but the features killed it.

  • It's a beautiful phone but bad things happen to it ... I have one so here are the problems : 1. The case is made o plastic, covered with some kind of steel . The plastic part breaks very easy is u drop it on something solid . 2. The designers were drunk when they made it . So, you have mp3 and aac player on 2.2 MB of memory with no card . 3. Your buttons will remain printed on the screen after a while . 4. The outer control buttons get messed up pretty quick . Volume doesn't work anymore for me . 5. For some reason de gray shiny part around the main screen gets ripped and looks bad . If you just want to talk and look cool, buy it, if you have bigger plans leave this one .

  • Yes I don't know why NOKIA didn't keep the design and just update camera etc, still much better looking than most phones. Well VW did it with the Beetle. Also reliable and cute

  • Still one of the best looking phones, better many current offerings. Nokia update with slimmer titanium instead of plastic parts updated camera software etc.

  • lovely phone, but too thick to put into your pocket

  • I love this phone, but it's definitely time to replace it now. I've been an active contributer to this thread for years. One of the big things is that I want to keep some of the ring tones for use w/ the N76 that I plan to get to replace this phone. Does anyone know how to get ringtones off this phone? like "Nocturnal" for example? It has a copy right protection.

  • bad thing about the phone is the keys on keyspads are falling, hard to replace the housing and keypads bec its too expensive.

  • simple and sophisticated phone. iv been using this phone for a couple of years, i was very amazed coz i dropped this phone LOTS of times, it still works. though it doesn't have great features compare to any other phones, i still want to keep it coz its user friendly. i use it only to make phone calls and send messages.

  • I LOVE IT ,,,,tought mobile ,,bears everything,,,it was dropped million times and still working,,,though not full memory still i love it i cant even get another one untill now i might move to samsung i love the U600

  • Time for my almost yearly post on this phone. It's still going strong. I can't figure out something to replace it with, but I know I need to soon. The reason I've gone this long with this phone is because I've had my PPC-6700 w/ Sprint for all my PDA needs. I'm still with Tmobile and don't plan to leave anytime soon. I'm thinking iPhone and unlocking it. I'd like to do a N92 but its still coming in at $500+ and that's just on ebay. any suggestions from previous owners of this phone? What did yo go onto? I really want something similar to this phone in feel. It's easy to text on.

  • It's a phone OK it does what a phone is supposed to do and does that very well. It's rugged, long battery life, and most important has the best audio quality of any Nokia. The speaker is loud and clear and the mic. has good noise rejection; perhaps due to it's heft and shape which feel like a real phone handset. Sure all of the complaints given in other reviews are valid. I'm an engineer and I like gadgets, but any gadget that tries to do many things, does nothing well. I have cameras for pictures, computers for e-mail, and an Ipod for music... I do have two complaints however, the memory is too small to store much in the way of graphics, etc. so I use simple or default displays to save space. It also will not survive a full cycle in the washing machine, but that's no problem cause you can pick up a new unlocked one for $100-$125 on E-bay. I've had over a dozen phones since my first Motorola brick, and this model brought me back to Nokia after a stint with Samsung, it's my favorite. In fact I just lost (or stolen) one, and was checking the reviews for something new and different, and just decided to get another 6170 even though I also have a 6125 and a 1200something. For now I'll just stick with what works.

  • well, its a pretty good normal nokia set with 2 displays. thats why i like it.. its better for normal user. i hav a 5 mp digital camera & mp3 player, i dnt need them in my phone.. so i like it..

  • well, i've just bought a new phone and im very glad that i've lost this one. it's really useless and i don't know the real reason why did i buy it for so much money. i regret this act of mine for sure! yes' it's got a nice design but it can't do anything except connecting you :) but yet its nokia. at least you can be sure that its very tough

  • this is the best phone i've ever had - no question. mine is now 4 years old and although i have looked at newer higher spec models, they just don't impress me enough to give up my little nokia. Not 1 single problem with any feature - don't know what some of these people have been doing.

  • to gerardway86: really? you mean it can actually store mp3 files but the memory can't shoulder it? how'd you do it? i really regret getting this phone. i've had it for like 2 days now. i think i'm using it for call and text.

  • i'm buying a new phone. that's it. or i'll use mine as a spare. i really thought it's one cool phone. wrong decision made.

  • If you have about a grand to spend on buying a new phone dddddddddooooooooooonnnnnnnnnt think about buying it .its a waste.not enough memory, give it a month and it wont the infrared wont be working again and wont support alot of internet applications .for example Mxit ,Mig33,Blue pulse and all.DONT BUY THE NOKIA 6170

  • I have this phone and the thing i dont like about it is that its to chunky and its only got infared n it has hardly any memory!!

  • ok this is my phone, and the thing i don't like about it is that it only has like 2mb of memory space!! and it can store mp3 files so thats why i don't like the amount of memory...

  • i wanna a phone to be used as a moderm over an airtel connection can some one please assist me if the phone is worth taking [email protected]

  • bad camera resolution, no memory (just take a few pics and its full) and no memory card slot.. Good design..

  • My phone is a 6170,RM-47,v03.25.The problem is that if i plug an enhancement i can't receive fm radio. The radio option does not even select. Can somebody please help me.

  • I've had this phone since it was released and it's been great. Quite early on I managed to break the outer display while the phone was in my pocket, but I bought a new display part online and replaced it myself. Surprisingly easy to do and much cheaper than getting it repaired professionally. Never used the internet functionality so I can't comment on that. Positives: Battery life is fine. Phonebook and message storage memory is plenty (for me). Screens are nice and bright and display all the information I need. Keypad is a pleasure to use, and the menus are quick and easy to navigate (as with most Nokias). Sound quality is fine. The stainless steel body looks great and the flip mechanism is solid. Negatives: easy to scratch if you're not careful 100% of the time. Speakerphone is a bit quiet. Difficult to keep clean. Tiny built-in memory and no memory card slot. Camera lens gets full of dust. Camera is only VGA. No bluetooth. In summary, if your requirements are fairly basic (ie no MP3 player, no bluetooth, lame camera, small memory) but you want a nice-looking phone, this one is worth looking out for.

  • I've had this phone since it was released and it's still going! Yeah it sucks for the memory side of it.. I've had like 3 crashes in it's lifetime. But it's not slow if you don't keep turning it off and on, it just takes forever to connect to the network on startup. Also, the browser is crap, most sites don't display properly even if they have been built for wap. Most inline images never display, and you can rarely download an image directly, because of some mime type issues i guess.. But if you want a phone to be a phone, its perfect.. works for me no problem, great signal, rarely bugs out. If you want a personal media centre of some kind, get a smart phone!

  • Such a good phone. User friendly for all functions. It also made life easier. The bad things is there's a dust in the cam lens area..and the clamshell external cover easy to get schratch. Memory too small. 2.2MB? you have to delete all memorable things recorded early for a new one. Battery lifetime is excellent.

  • pls guys dont buy this phone, every negative post here are true, i had this phone also and realy pissed me off, the keypad are falling and always have scratches..and its really slow..maybe try another model....

  • im using this model 2 years, n the lense of the camera become dusty n not really vissible to take a shot..how to clean it? is the upper casing can be opened or not?

  • it is really amazing! i adore this model!

  • worth?

  • i have the phone almoast a year now.it still works fine , the only problem i had, sometimes i get a call, or i try to call someone and i can't hear a thing.seams like there is a bug in the software.i sometimes instal java games and i cannot acces them and the phone shuts down.there is a problem when u open the phone and the watch screensaver remains stuck on the main screen.but thats easy solved by closing the clemshell and waiting for the light to close off (about 10 sec).i encoutered a few problems at some of my clients.the volume up button was stuck inside probably from too many times pressed(i say that becouse mine works just fine), the clamshell's spring jumped from it's place making the phone imposible to open or close , and the fact that the tft platic cover scratches from the buttons and the camera lens gather dust.i hope the keyboard doesn't fall of on mine couse then i will be realy pissed.i thought of changing it but it still makes me happy and besides a few minor problems i don't have any trouble.i never bumped it and took care of the battery and it still goes 4 days with a few calls and messages.i love the design though.hope nokia can make even better phones in the future eliminating the design and software bugs.

  • i broughted this nokia from 2 years ago, it's wonderfull but the memory is too small. but now i will buy the n72 but some people tell me that it's low :S

  • the phone is alright but the memory is not enough en i dnt know maybe its just my phone alone, sometimes it gives me problems with the fibire cable and i have changed it for about 4 times now?

  • I have been using this phone since January 2005, when I posted my first review up. Since then, I've switched out this phone once around 9/2005 (thanks to Nokia's great warranty/exchange program - I made a detailed post on this in 9/2005). Now, about a year later, a couple buttons have fallen off. I'm going to try and see what I can do to get Nokia to fix my phone/swap it out again, but I think it might be time to look into another phone. Let's see how the warranty plays out. The N92 has caught my eye, but nothing for the US seems to be set yet.

  • Have had this phone for over a year and could not be happier. I don't need all the bells and whistles. Battery life is great. I have it on approx. 5 hours a day and only have to recharge once a week.

  • great phone in general, metal covers scratch easy and camera lens has got dust under the cover after time. Memory is not large enough.

  • i need to improve it how can i if any bady have ideia please tell me

  • he is good but the memory very small as sutch as the new phones the bad thing in the phone is the memory the memory memory memory

  • i think this is the best phone i have ever had!!!!Never regretted geting this phone!!!

  • i've had this phone for about a year now. the keypad has fallen off, you can't hear anybody, its got no bluetooth, no decent ringtones and the infared has never worked

  • This phone comes with 2.2mb built in memory only and does not support memory card expansion? sigh...such a waste...

  • This phone comes with 2.2mb built in memory only and does not support memory card expansion? sigh...

  • I have had this cell phone for about 1.5 year.it's LCD cover is damaging. It's been said that when you recharge the phone, the keyboard will get hot and this will effect the cover. then there's another thing: It's volume will go up no longer, and i hardly can hear whose saying what :( and I've seen there's many 6170 that has this problem. I think although it is a really cute phone.but it wasn't made for me :(

  • the middle buttons ,only on my keypad dont work????? go figure :(

  • it's the best.. and it's mine!!

  • I bought my nokia 6170 about one and half year ago and I must confess that it never gave me any trouble. I am a hotelier and always found my nokia handy anywhere in the world. It depends how you use the mobile, you cannot put it in a tight jeans. My daughter has changed three mobiles in the same period I have mine. My 6170 may not be pretty but very user friendly and always there when I need help.

  • as i read the opinions os all the ppl who own or owned this phone i start to realise that 6170 realy has problems.i had problems with installing java games.sometimes the memory freezes and i had to delete all the gemes put in and take out the battery for a few mins.i was called a few times and i couldn't hear the caller althou they could hear me.i think nokia started to throw phones on the market without proper testing them just to cover all the needs.with problems and all it seems that ppl still enjoy nokia but with some regrets.i realy would advice nokia engineers and designers to take their time and try to make some phones that can satisfi a larger group of ppl not necesary by design but by performance and durability.something good made and thought about it.better materials ion the places that realy matter.i still can belive that nokia ppl didn't saw that the display would rest on the keypad...that was dum

  • hi am from romania and i sell mobiles for a living...about 8 mounts i bought this pfone for myself couse i liked it and it was the best that i could afford.the 2.4 mb of memory realy stresed me out throut the use,by now no trouble with the keypad(i only heard about this problem here actualy).but i know about the keypad scratching the display cover, and i also saw thw clients who bought the phone that had trouble with the coil from the clemshell.the phone was blocked open or closed and couldn't be moved in any way.i hope in the future nokia designers will learn to avoid at least the obvious problems.this phone with 10mb and 1mm between the dispay and keypad would be gr8

  • i've had the fone for about two years and by now it's run its life, the buttons apparently are glued onto a pad and now they're starting to come off one by one. the inside plastic covering the reflecting faux-chrome is starting to "speck" off. but i loved it while i had it in prime condition. i think the camera is also misaligned now it doesn't really focus as well as it use to but i prefer they kept the camera function to just getting nice focus instead of video and all that, i only used it to take pictures of peoples faces. i like how it stood out and people always commented how cool it was. similarly i don't think people actually knew it was a fone and so it never got stolen even though i've been rather careless now and then. i think it has a great touch of class and why nokia doesn't just make a slim fone with this style is beyond me. i think its calendar function worked pretty well for my purposes and SMS TXTING WAS EXCELLENT. So definitely a girls fone in the end in terms of practicality. I did wish it was smaller cuz i hated carrying it in my tight jeans.

  • I dont know what all you people are complaining about. Sure the low memory and the inside screen getting scratched by its own keypad! but who needs 200 SMS's? why would u NEED to keep 200 SMS's ? I've had the Phone for about 5mths and its great, does everything i want it to. I havent noticed anything that is bad with this phone except for what i mentioned above. I can no longer get the updated Version (the Nokia 7270 - Unfortunatly. 8/10 Overall

  • oh well i forgot to mention.. though having a low capacity of memory 'still good enough for basic usage & it has great resolution & watta a great keypadzz.. =o)

  • i had this unit for quite a while now & i would say that this phone really rockkkzz my worLd!!! I find this unit so simple yet so elegant.. Thanks for innovating such a wonderful unit.. 6170 was the bezt!!! =o)

  • YOU NOW WHAT ? This phone is better then the motorola pink! those mobile sucks .. NOKIA THE BEST & 6170 ROCKSSSSS !!

  • Nokia 6170 is a very nice phone. OK, no generalization - it's a nice phone in my opinion and according to the reactions of my friends. Designers bet on pure design, which is not disturbed by any ornaments. The phone features block form with slightly rounded edges; front and rear parts are absolutely flat. OSman kidik nokia is nokia anyway..

  • finely i get this phone so video record not enough should have more memory.i'm happy what else you need asap you got ring you say yes that is it..

  • Solid phone, except for the fact that the buttons from the keypad starting falling off one by one, until I had only the numbers 9 and 6 left. Replaced the key pad with a new one, and after 3 months, I have just lost another button. :\ Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Also, I forgot to mention that the 2mb memory can be annoying so think about it :) Regards

  • Hi all, I've had this phone for 4 months, great phone I must say for people who don't need all the fancy options. I did like the material from which the phone is made, it feels really solid. Keypad feels very good and T9 and sms'ing is great. It's really weird, I've had a lot of friends who like this phone but some find it absolutely disgusting. I guess you have to find out for yourself, but one thing is for certain... you don't see many people with this phone :) Regards

  • Stupid thing they did...only 2 megs of memory.......I already fixed the display conector twice....no radio even thow it has the option on the menu......camera doesn't always work....the rest does nt matter

  • i am from romania and i think it is a great phone

  • ok fone does the job it is designed to do, (just) its been back to the shop to be fixed (faulty volume buttons & outer screeen faulty) not the best nokia ive owned, needs bluetooth to be a winner! 5/10

  • I have had this phone for 6 months already and it is already broken. When i open the phone, the screen turns white. I always hangs and the signal is so low. I love the design and the camera is really clear but then now i have to buy a new phone. :(

  • To: 143 I'm from the Philippines. What's your question about the phone?

  • i still have my 6170, i like it but it has to litlle memory, i wanted to make a card slot, or buy a new phone.i'll think about it. thanks

  • Hi! Anybody here from Philippines??? Please do answer in this site because I have some questions about the phone...

  • I had this phone for nearly 7 months and it never gave me any problems at all. I love this phone coz' people tends to stare at it when I'm using it even though it's not a high-end phone.

  • a great phone but my problem is that everything works except that if anybody rings me i can hear them but they cannot hear me . can anybody help , other than that best phone ever

  • I've had my 6170 and although I love the design - sleek steel, solid weight and flip style, Iv'e had to many problems. The battery life is 48 hours even with no calls, the key pad freezes and to top it all the mimi screen bled and I was told that I had dropped it so they would not be fixing any of the faults (but they kept the phone for three weeks anyway!) I have not dropped my phone and am very angry and frustrated! So my advice is to ignore the attractiveness and go for something ugly but reliable - bit like micha barton v kathy bates - we know which one gives a better performance she just looks a bit crap!

  • Disappointed no radio. Would like to find a case for it.

  • used to love the phone... now my mainscreen dont work after one year... think the circuitry is screwed/.

  • it's a brilliant phone sure the memory might be a little small but when you buy a phone you look at the specs. it's great it has a good screen size and works great. althou it could do with bluetooth. the steel looks and feels awesum

  • actually no most of nokia have have internal antennas, and they have better reception than samgsung sony ericsson or motorolas that actually did. that reception problem its probably your service. nokia is known for having incredible reception. so nokia fan what the hell are you talking about?

  • TO NOKIA FAN: I agree with you very much! This phone would be perfect if not an internal antenna design flaw and unnecessary VGA Camera Junk and unnecessary color screen junk! 6170 Is almost perfect but 20% reception lack is a HUGE CON!-For this phone! NOKIA: STOP TAKING BAD SAMPLES FROM SONY! Internal antenna must be under the batterry like on all of your other phones!

  • Worst phone I've ever had , and does't work too well since it fell in the pool.

  • this phone is veeery good for his price he had a pretty design a good structured menu and first of all it is a nokia ... hey guys wake up and see cause it is really a good phone !

  • I am very disappointed with this phone. Initially I was very happy but after 7 months the characters began to fall off the key pad and despite numerous requests to Nokia over '6' weeks - no repair (part not available!!??) or replacement option just a dud phone and below average customer service from Nokia!

  • this fone is so beast its so crap its memory is only 2mb so dont even waste your 50p on it

  • Hi everyone.Just wanna say a pathetic fone from Nokia.Nokia seems to rest on its past achivements.

  • SOME CORRECTIONS: Actually the internal antenna is under the battery and then under the simcard! WHAT A STUPID DESIGN! (and it's all intentionally, because Nokia was so much in a rush to pump out a new model that didn't care about 20% of reception) WHY DIDN'T GSM ARENA GAVE THIS PHONE A RECEPTION TEST?????, like for example usually does. WELL, NOW GSM ARENA YOU KNOW that next time you see the internal antenna is under the simcard or not visible, that means POOR RECEPTION! (without any special testing).

  • wow wow...this is a great phone. Although the memory is very small it is quite sufficient for normal usage... the feeling of holding the phone is oso not bad. I have been using this phone for one yr n im very satisfied with the functions, it nv let mi down. My phone had nv been send for repairing b4...although i dropped it countless time n the surface is still alrite... YEAH!!

  • WHY DOES INTERNAL ANTENA is hidden too deep under the plastic board? That makes the signal on this phone 20% weaker than on all other Nokia phones! EVERY OTHER NOKIA, if you look under the battery has internal antenna visibly open, so why not the 6170?! This 20% signal difference wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have the building with very low reception in USA. OTHER THAN THIS WEIRD THING, this phone is PERFECT!

  • Pls the Charging system is not working, and the scrolling the down one is frozen. can you do something about it because I like the phone and I don't wants to switch to another phone so Pls do something for me. Thank u

  • The lens on my 6170 is hazy, and seems to have dust inside. Subsequently all the images I take are blurry and very low quality. Anyone got the same problem? Or know a cure? Aussieland

  • I have this phone and it's ok,but i don't get it why Nokia put mp3-player on a phone with so little memory and no memory-card slot. The memory it's the only thing I don't like at this phone.

  • To Alina, You can email the pics from the phone to your pc email address and then just save them as you normally would. Some of them seem to come out a big dodgy but I've had some excellent pics on my phone.

  • Hi I've have the phone(6170) for 1 year now and i think to upgrade it (you know 3G, wlan, more Mp, more memory, etc. exp:3280) but i just can't couse I LOOOVE MY NOKIA 6170 i'm happy that nokia&co. descoverd 6170 (hehe). Nice resolution great design hard cover looong batery (for such a slim phone) ok not a lot memory(2.2mb) but.... com'on it have everything else..... recomandetion: BUY IT RIGHT NOW....

  • I have had this phone for over a year now and I am finding it very hard to give it up although it doesnt have a lot of memory I love the feal and look of the phone if only Nokia would bring out a phone that had more memory but the class of the 6170 I would buy it like a shot.

  • Great phone, i have it for 5 months, the only bad thing is it`s memory, the battery is 4-5 days good (more than enough for this type of phone) I mean come on, it`s so slim, where do you want to put a 7-8 days battery in ?? Anyway i recommend this "sexy steel" phone.

  • I love it.To bad for the momory thow.

  • I had this phone for quite a hwile now, but i was wondering, can this phone support MP3 ringtones, and if it does, how can i get it on the phone?

  • I have un infrared cable and I want to send pictures from my Nokia 6170 to my PC. But it doesn`t works. From PC to Nokia it`s OK. Please somebody tell me how I can transfer pictures from my Nokia to PC. How I have to configure my Nokia?

  • great phone

  • How many days battery is alive?

  • when i gave this phone to my brother it broke in three days.i didn't like this this phone because it is too long and can break in 5 mins.

  • Hi, I've had this phone for about 3 months now. This morning i opened it to make a call and noticed a line of dead pixels across the screen. i turned it on and off and it's still there! Anyone else have this problem? I also get a alot of white screen freezes... HELP :(

  • when i try to upload mp3 like ringtones or things it just says it cant dectect a device. oh well... t6 screw driver good but den what do i pull out the inside screen???

  • i don't upgrade often unlike others in Manila. i research before i buy. this phone is the best one yet. easy to use, fast, great design and strong feel. love the steel on my hand. will only upgrade if they come out with more memory, better camera. till then, i'm sticking to my 6170 clamshell phone for keeps...

  • what are you talking about with the mp3? it has mp3 player integrated! not much use though with it's 2.3 mb memory! not 2.2! but still has one never the less! you would have known that if you had one! it would be nice it only people who own this phone would talk about it! some say that batery does not last too long! it lasts for 5 days!!! how much more would u like? i've bought it in an offer for 125 $ and it's the greatest thing I could have purchase! I LOVE IT!!!!

  • good phone - lots of functionality. Had it for a year, no major problems except the dust on camera lens (which has now been cleared up with the US$1.30 purchase of a T6 screwdriver). Amazing thing I bought it a year ago and the shops are still charging the same price for it now (some places more) - that's the sign of a phone that has timeless attractiveness in market where duds fall 50% in price in the first 3 months. If you don't need all the latest bells and whistles, this is a good voice/SMS phones with some decent m'media functions.

  • had the phone for a year now...overall nice and i'd rate it a 7 outta 10 indeed except for the fact that it doesn't have any expandable memory, the steel surfaces are exceptionally prone to smudges (oily marks especially) and the low quality of the camera...other things which i wish it had were an MP3 player and a radio... the one thing is, the "metallic" surface surrounding the main LCD within is starting to flake off and i've never scratched it or anything...seems to be of quite dubious quality... still, i'd recommend this to anyone looking for a stylish clamshell...

  • I liked this phone, its a nice classy phone the graphic are really good and clear.. too hard to give up now

  • this is a great fone... iveused it in the past as aspare fone and just what i need, i love the design but the only problem is that i cant put my memory card into it

  • well... all i can say its an amazing set with very few negatives as compare to many other cells just go for it tc

  • pretty sure it has +-10mb memory awesome for general txting and calling, good sound recording quality!

  • I own a nokia 6170 and i can say it's an excelent phone, the only think i hate is the way to small memory.. at least they could feature it with a memory card slot.. :( Also, i have an infrared cable but i can't move pictures from the phone to my pc only viceversa At the price i aquired it, i coul;dn't find a better solution. Oh, another thing.. the battery doesn't last that much ..

  • I cannot receive picture messages or send them. Optus sends me a message saying go to www.optus.com.au/viewmms. I spent an hour trying to view it and I still did not get to have a look at the picture message. Why is my phone not set up with this program from factory? Thanks I would appreciate it if I got some usefull info make.

  • What to do with the USB if the memory is 2.2mb?? wondering!!

  • it's a good phone, no doubt. I had it for a year, it could have lasted longer had I not misplaced it. Easily scratched though, so it's better if the outer protection covering is not removed. The key pads are large enough to make messaging easy and the camera's good. Just that when you zoom in, the picture becomes blurred. The memory is super little though, and it doesn't support mp3 tones.

  • does this phone has or has not MP3? please tell me! thanks

  • is the screen held in with glue or something??? cuz i dunt want to bend it or anythin when i do take it off. also has anyone not been able to upload pics back onto the fone???

  • It's a quite decent phone, very expensive though. A good friend of mine has it and she's not very pleased with it because of its almost unexistent memory, photos have very good quality but the design (although it's simple and nice)it's quite bulky. The menu is ok, but for me (i own a SE K300)it's a bit confusing, i think the k300 menu is easier. I only recommend this phone to those who don't care about spending too much on a cellphone (it's really expensive here in mexico) only because of its looks. : (

  • 6170 is a nice phone....... picture quality is really good... if it only has bluetooth, more memory and a radio then it'll be a perfect phone...!!

  • Yeh I've managed to get the dust out of the lens. You gotta buy a screwdriver to open up the case and then clean out the dust. The screws are located on the inside top screen. There are two round plastic covers that are attached at the bottom of the screen so just pull them off using a needle.

  • i buy this phone to give our family driver a brand new cellphone.

  • anyone manage to get the dust from the lens?... I can't take pictures anymore as the lens is full of dust

  • mmm I got this phone about a year ago. It's a great phone and all, but when you scratch it, it looks pretty ugly. And sometimes, you get dust inside the camera lens and you can't take it out so it makes your picture blurry and crap. But overall, it's a nice phone. And well worth what it costs.

  • I dont like automatic picture naming on this phone... When you photograph pictures, phone automatic give it names like picture001, picture002, picture003... Problem is when I transfer pictures on computer and delete it from phone and want to picture another. Phone reset its name information and start counting from zero. Then pictures have same names like pics before; picture001, picture002, picture003. And when i transfer them on computer i must rename it all because they have same names...

  • hi;ive seen some of you asked about transfer pic to pc,6170 has infrared also has cable and it also has a manager for that in cd.secondly every phone has its capabilities i think the design is perfect and it works graet so if you want memory or... go for other models.third, i think you want a mobile phone which looks great and works properly if you want a camera go for digital camera because you know that even 2 megapixel mobilephones dont have a good quality also mp3 player. so dont think about these things because someday you will find asimple beautifull phone is everything like 6170.

  • i want to know how can i transfer pictures from my nokia 6170 on my pc...please help me..i guess i need a cable, right?thx

  • where can i found adress for themes of 6170?

  • Goods: Same familar Nokia interface. Infrared interface to PC suite works great to synch w/Outlook. Bads: Shuts off all by it's self sometimes, screen gets scratchs from it's own keypad!, it's too heavy, block like design. Parts? simply not available even from Nokia....ie cover. No bluetooth Conclusion: NEXT cell phone please...

  • i want that tellefone :(( its a beautiful telefone i want it now

  • yeah definately the memory space is WAY too small, you can only put a few pictures on at highest quality which isnt really that high. The design is really cool though. sexy steel design

  • i have problems with the download games and i duno what to do ..i try put .jar .jad but when i try open he told me the file is unknow can someone tell me what i must do?

  • i have this phone for 3 months and i have a problem with it...when i open it i want to answer calls immediately but it delays about 2 seconds....how can i do it ? please someone tell me

  • I agree with some of Nokia 6170 owners. This is a nice phone. But the memory is too less and unchangeable. So i think in future I will change my phone with Nokia 9300

  • The hinge is plastic and when it breaks (as it will) the phone becomes very unstable and inoperable. Mine only lasted 9 months!

  • Can keep 150 sms + sim

  • Someone Please tell me how many SMS can keep.I have Samsung which can keep 200 SMS.I am about to by this phone,so i like to know.Thank's.

  • Does anyone have a dusty cam on the phone? bcos i do and the pics aint as gud as b4.

  • Where can i find some themes that arent from spyware ridden websites?

  • oh yeah and where can i find some themes ???

  • Why don have infrared??

  • i bought my 6170 off my cousin a couple months ago, and i have to say im very pleased.. mp3 ring tones, clear pictures, and most important, it looks sexy. the only drawback is the memory, and its bluetooth other then.. SEXY

  • Are you sure 6170 is support Mp3 for ringtone????

  • Nokia 6170 is an elegant and nice stainless steel phone but this doesn't help. Comparable to my Nokia 8910 i found 6170 be more heavier and lose in most of aspects(signal reception, voice clarity, etc), although 8910 has less features than 6170. In my opinion i believe that the best phone ever created by Nokia is Nokia 8910 in terms of design and performance.

  • >nDV6...with software you can upload back pictures to the phone. It's very simple..

  • i just purchased mine...it is too expensive for the features it has..indeed it is a nice phone, very tempting exterior, but unles you buy it with a discount it is not really worth the money. It takes nice pictures but the memory is insufficent and it does not have a memory card so you have to download all the time your pictures/videos/etc. Another minus it does not have bluetooth. But at least it has infrared. You can download ring tones/pictures/send multimedia messages. Overall the phone is ok if you can get it for a cheap price.

  • Dear nokia 6170 owners I don't know if i should buy this phone or not. I'm worried about the memory - only 2.2 mb :(. Does the mp3 work? cause i read some opinions and they said that it doesn't.How many minutes can a video have? and how many pictures can you store? please tell me :) Thanks

  • ive been trying to upload my pics bak onto the phone and it doesnt seem possible. so far i only been able 2 download. who can i upload back???

  • My Nokia 6170 just recently purchased is not performing well. Its like the antenna is not working properly, signal is not always available, even in very strong reception area. Once you start making a call, the signal bar will fall from strong to zero.

  • I looove this phone! I like it's desing... I also named it..."Silverster"...althought the memory makes me feel like crap...

  • The delay with the active flip was done on purpose, so that you can still reject a call after opening the phone by simply pushing the red button. Might sometimes come in handy when you're in a silent area and you get a call. Most of the times it is a bit irritating though.

  • Oh yeah, another thing to add in- the active flip was a bit slow on response which it took almost few sec before connected to dialer. means that u will be looking at the screen and listening a while to the ringtone after you flip it. Seems to look a bit stupid in front of people as they might wondering;'hey, how come this guy just waiting to answer a call..n not immediate?" .But it's fast enough when you shut the flip. It auto disconnect it. I bet most of the owner have the same dilemma. :)

  • i'm one of the owner of nokia6170. As a matter of fact, i'm using it now to connect myself to internet via IrDA. Ok,to clarify some of the stuffs, let me just put the PROs & CONs of nokia6170; PRO: - Solid looks - Stainless steel - Very very nice, smooth & comfortable keypad to press on. - No heavy. As a matter of fact, lighter than most of nokias handphone CON: - Well, as usual; limited memory (less than 2.3 mb)for gallery. Means that if u took plenty of shots and videos..hehe, Oops* MEMORY FULL anytime easily! - On Application folder, limited memory of 720kb (Separated from gallery folder memory) - Sometimes it hangs or worst, auto reset for no apparent reason.(ratio 1:90 days). Furthermore, during this moment, even logo eraser won't work on screen after that.will came out a '?' on the screen. - And NO MP3 for sure. only poly, aac, amr..hehehe! - NO radio player or mp3 player - The back cap sometimes felt quite loose although looks very tight and sturdy - no bluetooth But overall, i still love this phone. will keep it for a long time but now really aiming for N92!Well, 2 phone are better than 1!

  • I am wondering why this phone does have blue tooth, I think its more flexible than infrared.

  • P.S. When you're buying this phone: make sure not only to call 611 (customer care) to hear the earpiece quality. Make sure you talk into the phone with someone live, and you will hear a bass of your voice when talking.

  • 6170 Would be perfect if not for microphone quality! CONS: Microphone quality is horrible (when I speak into microphone I hear very bassy echo type of my voice in the ear piece!, which is totally mind irritating!) On the other hand earpiece sound is good and people can hear me very well too. It's a shame that it is almost impossible to find a phone without a minor flaw anymore (phones are overloaded with useless crap... but don't perform as phones)

  • helloooo!!!!!!people!!!it's a cool phone!it doesn't really matter it's kind of heavy!it has a great design!my opinion!don't kill me!

  • I just got my 6170 yesterday from (for a total of $273, including express shipping) Simply brilliant phone from Nokia! 6170 adds the collection of the most durable Nokia phones: 3310, 6310i, 7270, and 6260. If you kids look very carefully you will notice that all of the above stated phones are pretty heavy (according to you, not to me). These normal sized phones serve very well as phones first and are not heavy for mature-minded people. 6170 PROS: -Nice solid, mature look -Stainless steel design -Loud and smooth volume (thanks to a normal width, no need for a B.S. head set LOL) -Choice between MP3, Monophonic or Polyphonic ring tones -Photo call on a large display -Decent batterry life 6170 Works perfectly as a phone. What else do I need? GREAT JOB NOKIA! 6

  • apart from that its a little heavy..but i have gotten accustomed to it.

  • The phone is a nice phone ...only fault i have with it really is no BLUETOOTH and the lack of memory..i mean in todays world..bluetooth is very important for file transfer from different manufacturer phone types. I have a problem with mine at present..the phone would freeze for no apparent reason ..where the display would freeze on the main ..and the outer would be cut into half.. i usually have to turn the phone off and turn it back on to solve it.. not sure if this happening with other peeps own. also this occurs when i open and shut the flip too much from playing with it :)

  • it have mp3 ringtones and aac ones too,

  • number of call records ?

  • can you buy mini screen's coz mine is missing it

  • It says on this website that the nokia 6170 has mp3 ringtones, but on the nokia website it says it only has polyphonic...can someone confirm which it actually has please? Also wondering if it has radio because the nokia website says it does but nobody else seems to say anything about that feature. THanks!!!

  • is there a way to upload the pics back onto the phone??? like dl onto your comp. then upload it back???

  • My mini screen cracked a couple days ago. Can anyone offer some advice for how I could get my hands on a replacement or someone who could replace and fix it for cheap. Only problem is I bought it unlocked from some guys no warrenty. Thanks

  • is this phone mp3 capable or wma if not what music for #mays does it support

  • my girlfriend has just got this unit. it has speakerphone

  • the phone has really good features like video and mp3 player and even video streaming but 2.2 mb of memory,it just isnt enough to store all these features,(is there anyway to upgrade the memory or a memory card slot ) But wat do you expect if you only pay 99.99 i also think the outer screen is really good i dea as you normall only see black and white outa screens

  • I'm tired of people complaingin about: color screen, games, memory status!!!! and other useless crap! 15 Ytars old kids ( yes you act like them), you have nothing better to do than seat on internet all days and complain about B.S.! This phone is one of the most durable NOKIA phones along the line with 5140, 6310i and 3310 (best Nokia phones ever) THIS PHON PROS: -Excellent sound quality -Unique beautiful desighn -Nice keypad layout ( not like mos of the todays' toy phones) -Good reception WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED FROM A PHONE???????? No need for 16 m color screen here. 16m color screen is only needed for the phones that will include professional 3mp and higher digital camera ( there is none of those today!). It will take 2 years at least for NOKIA to have one! (with otical zoom, real carl zeiss or leica, and real CCD sensor)

  • I bought this phone back in Jan 2005 and posted a pretty detailed review about it. I thought it might help to give an update for all the newcomers to the 6170 world. I continued to have a good experience with this phone up until May 2005 when I dropped this phone in a glass of water - twice. It recovered decently after the water dried out, but the headset-jack stopped working, batterylife that was only a few hours, and the speaker for your ear vibrated. I decided to send in this phone for repair. I was hoping Nokia wouldn't notice there was water in it, and one of the things that worked to my advantage was that initially, they couldn't find in the phone I sent in for repair. But then, a month and a half later, they found it and determined the water damage. However, because of the run around they caused, they were willing to charge me the replacement fee at 1/2 price which meant I get a replacement Nokia 6170 for $52. This was great considering I paid $370 for the phone earlier. Even better was that they mailed me a brand new nokia headset and battery. the downside was that I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive in the mail since they were backordered on the 6170 (I should be receiving it this weekend). The plus side was that (at least as of thursday), it's supposed to be a fully packaged Nokia 6170 which means that it could even be new and not a refurb (which is what I was told to expect). Even better news is that since I'm getting a complete package, I now have another headset and battery. I dont need the extra battery (how the hell do you even charge an extra battery), and have already received that one headset in the mail - so now what I'm going to do is sell my old box (China box since phone was from overseas), manual, software, powerplug along w/ the new headset and battery to see what I can get for it. When I'm ready to part with this phone after a long while (and hopefully get the 8801), I'll still have a fresh set of all accessories to sell this phone with so it's complete. Unlike Mary Ann, I had a pretty positive experience with Nokia's service team. I would recommend that she send her nokia 6170 down to their repair center and work with them. I'd like to think that's easier. I'm not sure what exactly she did, but if you're determined, you can usually get a lot to go in your favor. While my phone was away, I've been using a Blackberry and man do I hate that phone. I find it so much easier to text message on the Nokia 6170 than this phone. I noticed people talking about the phone's EDGE capability. I was wondering what people in the US were doing to get this phone onto the internet because I was unable to do it. I want to take advantage of EDGE now that Tmobile's rolled it out. That's all for now. Jaypee, if you're reading this, how about an update on your phone.

  • Designwise it is a sleek, stylish and execlusive looking phone. The built is strong and sturdy unlike other clamshells in the market. The buttons are big, soft and pleasant to push. Featurewise, it is sophisticated but nokia could have done better especially the interface. The interface doesn't really push its 65K screen to the limit. It is rather dull and annoying to look at especially the straight line accross my wallpaper and those black icons on the main display. Try to change your color schemes to grey, you color screen 'devolve' to Nokia 2300's. Although Nokia is the pioneer of user friendliness phone, I found its navigation is not that flexible. For example in the gallery menu, if I choose an image, there is option to set the image to become my wallpaper but it is lack of option for me to associate the image to one of my contacts. It is the same thing with sounds where I can set it as my ringtones from there but I can't set it as my message tone. Another thing is the delivery report, it comes as another sms which is I have to delete it myself. SonyEricsson did something better with its delivery report and maybe Nokia want to copy that. GPRS and EDGE are undoubtly an excellent connectivity feature but lack of bluetooth which is more preferable than infrared is totally a turn off. Performancewise, as always Nokia's OS really good at typing sms. Other phone usually slows down as the message get longer but that doesn't happen in this 6170. The camera is good although it is not as fast as other phone. Overall, it is a pricey phone compare to other brand but it looks really melt my heart.

  • WOAH This is a Class 10 Edge? The V635 is a Class 4 and is 3 times faster then a 56k modem! Pretty good for a phone but this is a Class 10 this must be real fast then :O!

  • yes it does support..i tried transfering through my pda's infrared..its was quick and easy..this phone's infrared is great

  • Quick question- does this phone support MP3 ringtones?

  • I have just ordered the Nokia 6170 from Orange and i am now having a look to see all these reviews on this site and others and one thing i notice on all of them is that people say there is low memory. Well how about you delete all the un-used clipart, wallpapers, ringtones and game so that you have more memory for the things you want such as pictures and videos! The phone in my opinion has an awsome design and looks very cool indeed. I am glad i bought it and i cant wait to recieve it. I tried it out in a store and it works like magic, But i will have to wait and see if i have any problems with the phone turning itself off.

  • I can asure you this is the best mobile phone that i ever bought. Its nice and great features. The camera is great. I think every flip phone with camera, mp3 etc..have a low memory... Its not a bad mobile phone! Its a great phone ... buy this phone and u`ll be happy.

  • how many sms msgs can you fit on this phone? someone please tell me!!!!!!

  • I bought this phone about 2 months ago. I agree it has a low memory but i dont agree that the screen turns black and it switch itself off....I think you bought a second hand mobile phone. Am I right ? This phone is great. Great design and great features! The only thing i dislike on this phone is the memory and nothing more....10x

  • HELP PLS! I've had my phone for about two weeks and the mini-display seems to have given up, the screen glows a dark blue colour and thats it, can anyone shed any light? plssss!!

  • Nice looking phone with no memory at all. factory settings uses 1.5 mb and leaves u with 800k to play with. Nokia need shooting for releasing this phone with no storage.

  • Very pretty phone. Heavy, but that's OK. THIS PHONE IS WAY TOO BIG! It should be half as thin as it is. I have had problems with the phone powering down on its own. I also had the volume up button stop working. It is not accessable in software either. No bluetooth! Nokia's service is terrible! I will be getting rid of the phone!

  • Can I transfer mp3 ringtones to this phone using a usb cable?

  • hey, i'm interested in this phone, does anyone know if the classical erik satie ringtone is installed on it? it is on some nokia's, but not on mine now. and can't seem to download it from the nokia site. it wouldn't be a selling point, but def. a + point. thanks

  • omg i saw this phone yesterday in real life for the first time. i fell in love with it on the net. But when i opened it I could CRY in the store. i was SO disappointed!!!! the inner metal was dark in stead of shiny silver as seen on the pictures; WHY OH WHY???

  • Second replacement still switching itself off. Third replacement arriving tomorrow. Watch this space...

  • Got it exactly a month now, and the main screen is starting to malfunction, everytime i open it, the big display goes blank, impossible to see anything, so i guess i'll go to the phone shop, getting it replaced or, why not, buy another model...

  • It's great coz it's small and really compact but the memory of the phone is really low, i want to take pictures of my friends and some other relevant information to be stored but it cannot accommodate it... Nokia please please make some adjustment about this phone coz it rocks when it has more memory!!! Sometimes i think or thought to just trade the phone with another one with a memory card... happy moments to be captured is limited and it sucks!!! PLEASE NOKIA... I will be waiting for any improvement to this phone... please it's really cool with a high memory....

  • i cannot view videos when i brouse the net.could some one help me with the configuration settings?urgent

  • Hey All, I got the phone for my birthday and i must say its a nice piece. I love the desgin, a few of my friends call it the fridge but pictures of it dont do it justice. The clarity of the main screen is fantastic and the mini display is the same quality as the Nokia 3200, which is ok for a mini display. I cant seem to play real tones and the tones that came with the phone are not the bestm which would be my only complaint. Ive also had no probs whatsoeverwith the phone turning off or freezing which has happened to some ppl. Overall, if your considering buying this phone, get it! doubt you'll be disappointed! Rgrds! Sean Og.

  • beautiful phone indeed! well done Nokia. However; I seem to ahve a problem with the memory... I keep haivng to delete relevant information. Someone pls help! ta

  • For those who have set your ringtone volume to max and hears nothing when there is incoming call. Here is what your should do, Go to PROFILE, set the ringtone volume to any level other than max or current level and set it one more time to max or previous level or any level. The key idea here is to set it to different level 2 times, the software is ok again. At least it solves my problem. It is a software problem. The phone switches of occasionally even when you have just charge fully not long ago. It happens to mine a couple of times. Guess the Software either forgets the battery level or battery contact is loose. For me just switch that damn thing ON again and it should be ok, and of course wait for the next switch off again if any :)

  • this is excellent piece i like the features of this mobile specially the looks . its a classic looks and can win the customers confidence very easily but you should mentioned the price too as it plays a very important role to increase the sale . thank you

  • Thanks John, I think I'm going to persevere too cos everything else about the phone is excellent. Just one other fault I've noticed - I have 'Instant messaging' listed twice in my messages menu. If I select the bottom one it takes me to the relevant menu, whereas the top one switches the phone off and on. Obviously related to the first fault but not sure how!

  • this phone is really good!! i got it today and btw it actually supports mp3 !! so i got true tones...teh ringtone the graphic is superb but not the external lcd the colour is too weak while the camera is too sensitive to light but its not a cam its a phone!!so overall i think most tof the users can grade a 8/10 for this phone..great phone nice design..too bad no radio even or its great reception.. nice price too..

  • My bro uses the 6170 and is very impressed and the camera really dosnt do justice to the phone. It is a very excutive looking handset.Hope there are more coz im very intrested...

  • I imported this phone and it works great with Fido Canada. The photos don't do this phone justice, it's one very sexy gadget. Pros: -sleek design -big number buttons, no accident key presses -user friendly interface -superb reception -great looking main lcd -loud ringtones -easy transfer through IRD Cons: -Not made by Nokia but actually BenQ -outer lcd has weak colors even for a 4k lcd -outer lcd could use a lit clock -casing loves fingerprints What really suprised me about this phone the most is the amazing reception. No phone, and I repeat, NO PHONE ever had adequate reception at my home. By adequate I mean good enough to even hold a conversation for 10seconds ^^. This phone has no problems with that, infact the reception is strong. Transfering files from my pocketpc to the Nokia was a snap. Camera is ok, don't expect great quality but it's good just in case you need a quick shot. Don't find space a concern, this is not an MP3 player and I don't need 1000 wallpapers....just 2, one for the big lcd and one for the small. It's a cell phone, not a multimedia center.

  • I've had same problem, Dawn (see my previous post). I've had latest one about four weeks and it's turned itself off twice in that time. Hasn't done it for a while, and I love the phone so much I'm going to persevere with it for a while yet!

  • Love the phone but screen blanks out & phone turns itself off. Is this rare, should I stick with the phone? Am waiting for my 3rd replacement as soon as Vodafone get some more in cos apparently it's being discontinued???

  • Is the lack of memory really annoyting someone? is it enough for a few pictures and how many sms'es? i have N5100 now, stores up to about 150 sms. (in and outgoing, but i alwaus delete the sent ones)

  • Do anyone know how long the Video Clip is on the Nokia 6170? Thanks!

  • i'm serieusly thinking about purchasing this phone... i love the sleek steel look of it, the clamshell with outher display, the cleancut numeric pad... should i buy it or not? it's 245 (about 270USD) PRO's? CON's????

  • What a phone! 2.2 shared memory!....

  • good solid phone, lets face it anythings gonna be better than an o2 x3! was told at 4 diff phone shops you cant send pics to a kodak machine for example thru the infrared cos of a software prob and i nearly didnt buy it, but you CAN send pics thru infrared-dont listen to the link, dixons etc lol. lack of memory is annoying as is mp3 but ive sacrificed that just to get a sodding phone that doesnt crap up all the time (02 and ericcson take note!) no probs so far at all, very reliable and the best phone i have had for reliability since prob about 1998. it is worth paying more for a nokia you know you are getting the best, hoping they are gonna bring out a similar with mp3 and megapixel-v pleased overall even tho it was essentially a 'downgrade' from my last 2 phones.

  • Can you make the Nokia 6170 show a picture of the caller on the external screen when someone calls you?

  • PTT is a radio service, it works just like a walkie talkie or a 2 way radio (you have to press a button to talk, and release it so the other guy can talk)... NEXTEL offers that same service in the USA and in Latin America, but only with ugly, bulky motorola radios.

  • PTT is something like SMS, but you don't type text, you can talk something and send it by pressing the PTT button to the person in your contactlist.

  • you should wear gloves :P

  • Excellent phone, it is reliable, looks chic and like most Nokias it has is user friendly. What is the push to talk all about?

  • Getting this phone next week. Does it really smudge with fingerprints easily? If so, might have to wear gloves lol

  • Great looking fone, but video on mine is very floaty/fluid around the edges,is this normal on the 6170? If this is faulty Iwill get it exchanged. Could someone let me know how theirs is. Thanks

  • Great phone if you're looking for something basic, reliable and easy to use. As for problems, screen blanking out switching off etc....... it's usually caused by faulty chargers. (happened to me in the past) when you take back the phone also replace the charger, and you'll find you'll have no more probs.

  • does this fone have voice recording?

  • Whining on non functional Nokia hardware? What did you expect?!? Everybody knows that Nokia has the best software but crappy hardware. If you prefer the best hardware and crappy software try Motorola.... Or you could go for a compromise: Samsung mediocre hardware and software... Nokia got ONE big hardware advantage though, the transflective coulour screen that actually works even in direct sunshine!! My recomandation is buy a Nokia, and keep your old phone as a spare for use every time the new one is in for repairs... (Got a V3 for 8 months, love the hardware but the lossy software is driving me nuts, switching back to Nokia

  • does this fone have blue tooth? i need to know that b4 buyin it

  • question den. i haf da dku-2 cable and 4 sum reason it still says unable 2 find a supported fone. mine is v. 03.22 soooo i duno. dammm i want mp3 on it. arg.

  • Hi !! i wrote you comment on about the transfer on your NOKIA 6170 ..look , i had the same problem and i fixed it buying a DKU-2 cable i had a DKU-5 and MA 8630 , those cables can transfer images , data , phone book but not mp3 ...the DKU 2 can do all ! and if you can`t do it with cable , try USB INFRARED !!!

  • is the infra-red strong? is it able to recieve pics from a pda or another mobile through infra-red?

  • To asian: Because I really like the phone! This third one seems to have settled down (only turned itself off once), so looking good. If it plays up, I'll try a fourth (free on my contract) before I reluctantly switch to another phone.

  • Great phone , i bought 3 mounths ago .... problems? stupids themes and screensavers , stupid polyphonic ringtones ( all nokia have it) just 2 aac ringtone , problems with pc suite to upload mp3 the rest of the functions works good with dku2 , the battery is not good and the memory ? just 2,1 mb , no bloot , no radio but...anyway i think is a great phone !!!!!

  • hi i just got this phone and the trasfer cable. just a question for people: how do you transfer mp3 or aac to the phone? the program says that it does not detect a supported phone. answers would be apperitated

  • get it for 100 pounds from the link

  • ne1 find out the unlock code 4 da memory or waz it a dud??? still lovin dis fone. still lookin brand new!!! aheaheh ummm JOHN its ur 3rd??? y? ahehah

  • Mary Ann is talking about the 6170, specifically about how she's got an officially duff one. Why is a defective motherboard not covered by the warranty, Mary Ann? I'm on my third 6170, and true to form it's switching itself off just like the previous two. There's obviously a problem here.

  • To Mary Ann: This place is for talking about the nokia 6170 NOT nokia's services. You're saying the phone sucks because yu got unlucky with it being deffective? what the hell? boo! hoo! cry somehwere else!

  • .....Just got this phone,and I'm in L O V E with it. THE best phone I've ever had!!!!!!!!!!

  • Like Mary Ann, I'm having trouble with mine switching itself off. I've had two like this, third arriving tomorrow, so maybe third time lucky. Pity, because it's really neat, if a tad heavy. Battery life could be better as well, as some previous posters have said.

  • The Nokia 6170 sucks. I bought this phone on April 19 2005 for about US$300. 2 weeks into normal use, the phone blanks out/powers out for no apparent reason, from that time on until today, June 13, 2005, I have been going to and fro the Nokia service center for Nokia to address this apparently defective "brand new" product. The Nokia service center here tested the unit, uploaded a "new program, tested the original battery, and their own findings indicate that the product sold to me is untampered and defective from the start. Nokia noted that the apparent flaw stems from the motherboard of my brand new unit, and they said this is not covered by warranty and they would replace it and it would cost me $100!!!!!! I hae had high esteem for the quality of the Nokia products, until this expensive and inutile/defective phone costing me $300!!! Now I have such low regard for their product, their warranty and their service level. Thank you all for reading my humble post.

  • why so expensive with these bad features?weak

  • Does this phone have picture caller ID shown on the external mini display? How is the reception and battery life as compared to Motorola Razr? Planning to buy an unlocked phone, what do most people recommend, Razr or this one? I have a Samsung and the reception is just so poor when compared to a Motorola (used a friend's Motorola, also with TMobile, and there was no drop calls dialed at the same location as compared to a Samsung). Help!

  • im planning to buy this phone. can someone tell me if the picture is clear enough? im fond of taking pictures.

  • This phone is good and it is easy to use. I have this phone. This phone does not have mp3 or radio if that answer your question.

  • greatlooking phone, its like the male version of the N7270.

  • this phone is great...but....does it have a radio or an mp3??

  • great!i like it but i think it would be greater with bluetooth and more memory.and why not, a radio. what do you think?

  • Just ordered the phone, but how many txt messages does it hold in its in box?

  • hi i wanted to ask you which is the real memory of that phone(11mb i think) and if it has mp3?? 10x for answers

  • perfect phone.but the price is a very big:)

  • Great phone.I've always loved Nokia but my 6170 appears to be my best phone ever.it's got all that i need in a phone...great look, wonderful functions and above all easy to carry about.

  • incredible phone, the best looking phone on the market. and that's more important than any of its missing functions.it's simply the best phone for a guy. incredibly stylish and nice. A++

  • it's wierd that all of you encounter those problems... my nokia 6170 is perfect... never had a problem with it yet

  • bigger memory, memory card, megapixel camera - yeah! but what about the price? who would buy it then? I surely don't. oh, and the phone is one of the best right now

  • this phone is a good lookin' one, but i wouldn't mind a bigger memory, a memory card and a megapixel camera. if he only had these, it would be the best phone on the market.

  • i prefer to buy this hp, who can tell me more about this phone and function of this hp. thank.

  • I got this phone on january and since then i've got many problems with it. When I turn off and on the phone the contact photos keep disappearing from the contact list menu and it resets to the factory settings. Nokia changed my phone and the problems appear on the new phone too! I don't know what else to do. If anyone knows something about those problems PLEASE HELP!

  • i got my unit yesterday afternoon. Was so excited to explore it's features (though i'm already very familiar with NOkia phones). However, this afternoon, the mini display suddenly disappeared. The screen saver went out and the clock won't appear anymore unless you open the flip (i use my phone as my watch)... too bad.

  • Reply Ryan: it use DKU-2 Cable

  • I have the same problem with volume but its me turning the volume down without realising!! Buttons are sensitive!

  • same problem here.. mini display goes dark sometimes so have to turn off/on to "restart" then OK again.. and lately, sometimes cannot hear anything from phone earpiece so have to turn ON handsfree/speaker to hear anything (but sometimes it's OK). will have it serviced soon. wondering if anyone has similar problem/s

  • Its a good phone except for: poor memory: try deleting the factory ring tones, images etc mini display; one day it works the next it wont? Limited use, cant view messages without opening flip. Delay with active flip: Continues to ring slightly when you put the phone to your ear! However, it looks as cool as!!!

  • hey for nokia 6170 owners : does it have mp3???

  • Please nokia come up with a better flip phone, a slimmer, lighter, trendy and smaller flip phone...

  • It has MP3 ACC 40chanel polyphonic ringtones

  • It's good looking , but very short bat. How to operating for transfer tones from PC? Poor at Mini Dsiplay, but very stylish. Viva Nokia-Indonesia

  • great looking, pity that it doesn't have mp3,has poor memory and it can't be used with a memory card

  • this 7270, 7260 or e630 plz help!!!!

  • How many sms messages and photos can this phone hold please????????

  • great looking phone, very poor memory.

  • stylish and simple great looking phone

  • haha, great phone, i own it. peace all nokia 6170 freakers. greetings from paris ;-)

  • Next week my 6170 will be delivered, I'm so excited!

  • I love simplicity and this phone offer it plus the elegancy. Yes it got some limitations but every model has its own pros and cons.

  • A great phone but with the following flaws. 1.No bluetooth support, even the the Nokia bluetooth are not compatible with this phone(tested various set). 2.Very bad mini display qaulity, suggest no wall paper and scree saver to put it on. (tested various set) 3.Shot battery life. BTW, this phone is not make by Nokia, instead it was design and make by BANQ (Acer).

  • hey can anyone tell me what's the price of this phone right now? i mean in shops.. thanks

  • This phone looks good but that's it. The fact that Nokia are releasing phones with NO memory card and NO true MP3 is worrying. I've got a 6230, which doesn't look as good, but it's months older and has 32 MB instead of 2.2 (!) and true MP3's. If you want technology this phone is not for you.

  • "k now i got a reli good question 4 u all. since 1 of my friends deleted da pictures of her and all da other stuff dat waz good how da hell do you put on the copyright??????? need it badly. aheaheha." WTF did you just say

  • i have a question: can you make this phone show a picture of the caller on the external screen when they call you?

  • The design is just GREAT!!!!!

  • k now i got a reli good question 4 u all. since 1 of my friends deleted da pictures of her and all da other stuff dat waz good how da hell do you put on the copyright??????? need it badly. aheaheha.

  • It has no bluetooth. It has no themes over the Net yet. Some freaky ones are on nokia wap site for free.

  • i need to know whether it has bluetooth. could someone kindly advise me on the accompanying mail address.

  • Hey i just buyed this phone i think i will not be dissapointed :) How c an i get themes ? I can download from websites and upload in the phone with PC Suite ? Regards

  • A have some news for all of you that have experienced the mini display problem. It must really be a software problem. I think I managed to overcome it by doing the following: I just put off the screen saver and the mini display went on functioning properly. I even deleted all the screen savers and got some more free memory. I don't know wether this is gonna work with your phone but you can give it a try.

  • I think this is a very great phone. I have buyed it 4 hours ago from a internet website. I'm waiting the product now! Good job NOKIA designers. Greetz from France.

  • V 03.22 25-11-04 RM-47 6170 (c) Nokia interesting. hehe. now ne1 got dat unlockin thingy goin yet? k pc suite thing installed got all da needed drivers and even with the cable i cant transfer data. arg!!! it says it cannot detect my device. and yes i changed it 2 usb button and other stuff still no go. ne suggestion? gary: oh. i c. aheaheha

  • An excellent phone!!!

  • No crap. This is the most stylish mobile phone in the market. I strongly recommend it.

  • Its ok, sorted.

  • Struggling to set up GPRS & MMS or rather O2 and phones4U are! They have no info?? Can anyone help me set it up?

  • Teresa, use Nokia PC Suite from included CD

  • Asian, I'm thick!!! I meant right directional arrow (shortcut) for Calendar not "write message".....any ideas, in the meantime i've reduced the "goto" option to only calendar but i still have to select etc. it was a nice feature for the 7150i, for me anyway. I guess life goes on!

  • Hi, i have this phone for a while and it's really nice. I just can't find out how to download some java games. When i copy .jar or .jad files it tells me that those formats are unsupported. Can anyone help me? And if you know, give some link for free java games:-)

  • *#06# - IMEI info *#0000# - Firmware info *#92702689# - Warranty info

  • gary : its da left button. dats da shortcut 2 write msg. duno about da delete 1s though. here a question. so how u find out da info on ur fone??? like the version and all. saw a few ppl wit it up. and ne1 find out if u really can unlock the features????????? oh man!!! da back really is 7270 aahehaeha

  • DAMN! IT HAS MP3!!! But of very small size just for ringtones.

  • Cheers Ryan. I'm trialing the 6170 at the moment and its good. Super cool to look at, tempted to keep it and not bother with the 6260 which is quite a lot bigger anyway. One problem with the 6170 is theres a slight delay with the flip answering the call, only by a second or so but you hesitate and then look at the phone to see if they've hung up, by this time caller's saying hello wondering where you are!!!!! No MP3 and I'm trying to work out a shortcut to "write message" 7150 is right-hand arrow but not with the 6170. anyone got any codes for getting deleted messages back, my girlfriend did it to my phone and nows she's an Ex-girlfriend!!! ah well!

  • A Question.. does 6170 hav mp3?

  • Gary, I'm in the same dilemma, but I would recommend 6170 'cause it's more stylish. After all the first impression is made by the exterior appearance of a thing. Good luck.

  • You CAN use mp3 for ringtone. I have some such melodies in my phone.

  • Hi folks from ROmania, Europe. I just bought this phone today and i'm thrilled!!! I went shopping, i was gonna buy a 7200, but couldn't find one, only in light colours and it's kinda hard tot take care of it. The girls from the shop recomended 6170, it took me about an hour to decide (i guess they thought i don;t wanna buy anything, just fooling around :D). I hope the minidisplay problem will not show.... will see. I love this phone after all... it;s perfect 4 me, too bad no MP3. SOmebody said here that u can use MP3 as ringtone... feel free to mail me how to do this

  • this is the phone that anyone would anyday want to have and all its features are really good

  • the big question ? smaller 6170 with less features + 2nd screen or larger 6260 with more features and memory 6170!!! or 6260!!! no text!!

  • somebody can take a picture bigger size 120 x 90????????????? where i can change in phone configurations to take photografics with size 640 x 480??? awnser me plx!

  • the best!!!

  • Right-clik on a phone sign in a system tray -> Nokia Connection Manager -> place mark on USB

  • I've installed the pc software for the 6170 on my Dell computer and am connected with a USB lead but the software does not recognise the phne as pressent. any suggestions please .

  • Max. clip duration is about 3 minutes depending of free memory.

  • When i take pictures with cam, and send MMS for my email, this pictures comming with a low resolution (160-120). I cant change for (640-480). Somebody can explain this for me?

  • Nokia 7270 bought in Jan V 03.22 25-11-04 RM 8 7270 (c) Nokia As for Nokia 6170, I bought it a few days after its launch in Singapore, the few days wait is because when I get to the shop the first day, the first batch was sold out. Seems that I got the newer version of the Software when I bought it in last Dec and I have encounter the mini LCD problem only once and not again. I am from Consumer Electronic Business, when it comes to components on PCB, event for $0.01, we will save. And manufacturing of different component is easy, it is just computer program of mounting machine. Soldering machine is the same. Looks like it must need both Software & Hardware change.

  • I do have sony ericsson z600 which i bought a year ago,im interested switching it to nokia either 6260 0r 6170, can anybody prove to me which one is excellent? Im with tmobile right now but I couldnt even use the tzone coz i bought my z600 myself from dubai. How expensive is nokia in the philippines? any idea?

  • the specifications for this phone[6170] did not tell the duration for a video clip recording.i really want to know before buying the phone.

  • V 03.211 11-11-04 RM-47 6170 (C)Nokia As I see new firmware is already released... Maybe I'll install new one soon. By the way, all you must remove to see that cases of 6170 and 7270 are the same is metal a cover of battery compartment. Take it off as when you want to replace the battery and you'll see the rounded corner of a case on the right-bottom (closest corner to the recharger hole). Technologically memory and FM module are very cheap to produce and I think it's not nesessary to mount 2 assembling lines for identical models and it's easier to just remove this functions by the firmware. It's similar to activation of 2-layer burning on DVD-R devices by changing firmware.

  • My phone is bought in Dec 04 with V 03.22 25-11-04 RM47 6170 (c) Nokia What is your full info of V 03.211? The PCBs maybe the same, but I do not think so Nokia is stupid enough to mount the components that provides extra memory & FM Radio. I think the SW Version is the same for Nokia 7270. Unless some hardware guy knows what are the additional components needed to mount and possibly some to be removed to have the same hardware as Nokia 7270. I have both, but I do not like the idea of opening up both Phones to check as they too expensive to play with. Or maybe Nokia can do it for a certain fee.

  • Greetings from Russia! I'm using this phone from dec'04 and have same problems with mini display: it shows horizontal lines though image after some time being turned on. It's a software problem. I think it should be solved in next firmware version (current and last is V 03.211). And now LISTEN: as we know NOKIA released 7270 phone with larger memory and FM-radio. 7270 looks just like 6170 but has a round-shape corner. And if we'll get 6170's back cover off, we can see THE SAME ROUND-SHAPE corner! These phones have the same hardware so I think FM radio and memory in 6170 are just hidden by firmware and if we'll try to upload 7270's firmware to 6170 we may get hidden functions back!!!! Maybe anyone have an ability to prove that???

  • hey jade. im in canada 2 and well if ur fone reli reli has prob send it bak b4 da years up. ahehaeha. my fone stoped doin dat 4 like a month and like last week it happened 3 times in da same day im like krapppp. but den ya. its all good now. oh has ne1s fone completly froze b4? mine did it 2day totally frozen dere waz like 10 clocks on my main screen. aheahea.

  • I bought this phone last week and the mini display went out the same day I got it. I had to turn the phone off and on again for it to work. It wa fine for a few days and now it started to do the same thing again for the last 3 days straight. I am in Canada and bought it unlocked- It's a lot of money to pay for a phone that doesnt work well! I like the design of the phone and the features but the external mini display has a serious problem.

  • Yo... Been reading up on this phone and I must say I've been in love with it for awhile. Though it does seem like a good phone to buy, there are a few draw-backs. If you need bluetooth, well, you ain't gonna find it here. Ditto for FM radio. Also the memory space is tiny! Nokia could have introduced a bigger space with such a new model! One major problem seems to be the LCD display. Be sure to inspect your LCD before the purchase! You don't want it to spoil the experience! By the way, did you know that the production of this phone was outsourced to BenQ?! I think this phone is worth buying. It is extremly asthetically pleasing and the pricing is resonable. And since I am not one who's totally concerned for features like megapixels, video time and etc, this phone is worth my dollar.

  • how cum this phone doesnt have blue tooth, and i am mad with nokia for puttin such little memory on the phone .Other wise, his is a marvelous phone

  • About 629 Singapore dollars..in Denmark

  • Hello All.... Hooray for this forum!!! I am considering buying either the 6170 or 6260 and I need help!! 6170....can this phone stand being dropped?? for the newer owners: is the hinge sturdier now? is the exterior display improved....before it used to blink in & out or fade white or completly fade out is the memory i this phone bigger now and if not is there anything I could do? how long can it take videos? I currently have the 3650 that I am very happy with but now I want a flip/clamshell phone thanks for any answers! peace

  • i think. this phone is pretty much the same as the Nokia 7270..? rite? so.. wht abt the price..? i mean with no contract.. just the equipment... i dont know what to buy.. pls help!!! in Singapore$ .. if possible..

  • hey.... i think i paid too much for the phone.. tell me exactly.. how much u paid for there...? in $ pls.?

  • Where can you download new themes for this phone? They are all so ugly!

  • To azza: Nokia actually had 5 flip phones, you can see it on their website. Think 1 more coming and yaks it has antenna.

  • it is the best fone ever but i ain't happy bout that small memory

  • ahhhhhhhhhh crap!!! i got da cable a while ago and it didnt work. reason being dat its a dku-5... aheaheha. stupid woman said yes it will work. im like k. brought it and nooooooooo it doesnt work. hmmmmmm lets try it on my new comp when it gets here. so leson here is DO NOT BUY A DKU-5 CABLE!!! to that dude: ya "groove" = hindge. hehe. well i duno i mean i guess when we all brought it, it waz reli tight. mayb its like that, that it gets loose so u kan flip it easier or it just be tight all the time. or mayb its just gettin loose. aheaheha

  • Sorry I meant, Nokia Setting Support doesnt have US in the country list, and Tmobile Setting Support doesnt have Nokia 6170 in the list.

  • So.. I've had my phone fixed because of the mini display problem (I think you ALL know which problem I'm talking about..)and they replaced the display, fine. Two days later it went broken again!! I'm gonna take my phone back to the shop and see if they can solve the problem.. If this doesn't work I'm gonna change model and tell everyone the nokia 6170 SUCKS big time!!!

  • I'm with Tmobile and I'm having trouble setting up the MMS and other web features. I've been to Nokia Settings Support at and Tmobile Setting Center at . Both didnt have supports for 6170. It's because 6170 was released for Middle East, Africa and Europe. So they dont have supports for it to work fully in North America. How did you guys solve this? I mean I paid full for this thing and I'd like to get the whole package that I paid for.. feel kind of cheated if I couldnt use the web features.

  • Thanks man, but does it go back to the way it was like brand new? and how long will it stay like this?.. grove you mean the hinge??

  • i said dis b4. but oh well. if u look u kan c dat lil grove where the lil bottom connects rite??? u know where a little - at da bottom and da top with the groove? well deres a little bit of space when the fone is closed. so when it is "loose" it is only that little part moving back and forth from the groove. only when you move the fone harder and i mean push it!!! it moves out of the gap and thats wut seems 2 b the looseness. just look at it closly when u close the fone and u will get wut i mean. loooooooooooooooookkkkkkkk ahehhaeah.

  • the phone doesn't close as tight as it was new anymore can anyone help ?? how do i fix this ive only had this for a week! and last night i noticed it was kinda loose!! what's the best thing to do? help

  • 2 little too late from nokia flip phones ave been about for years and nokia has been at the forefront of mobile technology and only has i think 3 flip phones to be fair its rubbish not enough memory for the technology it is competing with straight on the market to disapear in a disastorous blow for nokia

  • This phone has to little memory! i need more than 2.2mb. Cmon nokia!! A new design for a phone and you give 2.2 memory. At least put a mmc card slot! The phone is really nice if it wasn't for the memory....:(

  • the phone is okay cool and all.. but i have a problem.. the phone starts to get loose when you open it it doesn't close as tight as it was new.. can anyone tell me what to do?> help..? anyone experienced this?

  • i was think this phone is ok for me, but now, when read the opinion from peopele about this mobil, i'm not sure if is the best..., but is little and wonderfull. i will buy it!

  • IR or Cable equally good, I have tried both. By the way, copy those high Pix picture out of the phone. Only your note book can see the resolution. Use the nokia suite tool to edit it to the right size which is good enough for the poor LCD to support which is of smaller pics size. Save space.

  • aheaheha. i actrally went down 2 ummmmm sumthin like 10k left. exactally 10.0 i waz like jezz. but ya. i haf a few pictures that r on high quality so that takes up space. 1 thing i noticed so far. sumtimes when someone calls you and the persons name is in ur phonebook and u have caller id it shows up with a 1 infront. so then i wont know who it is. same thing with redial!!! it shows up with a 1 sometimes. questions for all the ppl with the pc transfer. which is better? the ir adapter or da dku-2 cable

  • I have only a few hundred k left now, mainly used up by personal pictures use for screen saver on my display. I experience some strange behaviour (this hang, that hang, etc, cannot remember) when I go down below 125k. To Kat, 1MB is very big memory. Think your camera needs to see doctor at Nokia Care.

  • If the whole delayed answering of calls really annoys you when you open the fold, it is possible to turn it off. You then just open the fold and accept the call through pressing the green button. To DRM: I have about 1MB of memeory left but the software for the camera still seems dodgy, do you reckon i should delete something?

  • i love it its cute and fun..but wat i hate is hwen it rings and u flip it open it takes a while to answer and the mini dispay cant be used when the phone is closed...but appart from that i love it...

  • Slow response for flip answer feature is designed in for the purpose to give you time in the event you need to hangup in short time instead of answering so as not to wait for the ring to end. My mini display corrupts once. Switch off, switch on (cannot remember if I have removed my battery) and I have not seen the problem again. There is still no new Software update till date. At least Nokia has not call me yet. Try not to use any features (including camera and GPRS downloading) if you have memory less than 125k. Software will be unpredictable. Java applications install into memory which shares with email. So if you load too many Application and Games until almost full, you will have problem downloading emails. Solution, buy Nokia 7270 which got bigger memory of 13MB. Poor Nokia 6170 has only 2.3MB. Wonder if Nokia offers some mini surgery package by adding a bit of money can upgrade the memory size. That would be perfect. An SD/MMC slot would be ideal. Beside all this minor problems plus those I have mentioned sometimes back, it is a great phone. The value of this phone sold brand new is droping fast. Wonder what will it be worth by this December when my 1 year contracts ends (time to upgrade). Being a loyal fan of Nokia (this is my 4th Nokia phone out of my 5 phones), I still think I will switch camp to a WinCE PPC Phone (maybe the successor of O2 XDA II mini, if there is one), which has a lot more features, no wonder their market share keep droping.

  • Ok... Now the loudspeaker has stopped working!!! So now my mini-display AND my "loudspeaker handsfree" are broken!! I'm really starting to have second thoughts on this one.... I'll try to get this fixed, but if the problems continue, I'm changing brand!!

  • to:james heath no problems with the mini display...at all? how long have you had this phone?

  • This is a fantastic little phone. i have had no problems with it. Everything runs smoothly and it looks great.

  • To Kat: I work in a mobile company and many people have problems with this phone. Mostly the second display just doesnt work anymore. You should try to get your money back. Otherwise you will be in major problems with this phone after the quarentee is over.

  • me too. i like this phone but according to some review it seems that there's serious(at least for me) problem with mini display, so i think i'll reconsider...

  • I want to buy a NOKIA6170 but now after i saw all the problems ????? I have a question for those who bought a 6170 and had problems with the mini display"have you tried to upgrade the soft?" PLEASE ANSWER ME BECAUSE I DON`T WANT TO BUY A MOBILE WHICH IT DOESN`T WORK

  • I have been having the external display problems, only once so far, but does this continually happen? Should I bug my dealer to get it fixed?? Also, has any one has a problem with the camera on this phone? It takes picutres fine, but when trying to view the picture on the main display (the small one os ok) it takes ages to load in and is extremely slow. Sometimes when i move the camera round the picutre doesn't change for ages or I get one half of the old view over the new view.... But the picure comes out fine. The same happens with my video.... Shall try to get it sorted and keep you posted! Other than that I really like this phone and I don't miss it not having that many features. It's enough for my life, but fair point if you want more.

  • i own this phone abt a month ago and i think the fone is perfectly design for me or something, but i hate the fact da the memory is too low i try to search some web site and the keep telling me da the memory is no enouf which pissed me off i love the fone the style make people jealous of me it represent who i am like to make a diference bring attention get respect and the kool thing is da not a lots of dem in the usa but i had a hard time to get it to work now its ok the onli thing i would change from would be the memory i would like to get the 6260 but time will tell if anione has something i migh don know abt please feel free to email me

  • to that person dat said it moves around its not cuz its old. just look at da bottom where dat like grove is. its where both the top and bottom come together so it doesnt twist. i waz chekin it out and dere is a tiny gap so dats wut u seem 2 see where it moves around a bit and if u push harder its only dat the groove moves out of spot. still lovin dis fone. hehe.

  • it seems there is a serious problem with the mini display... that's bad!

  • how's the camera of this phone? is it clearer than 3650's?

  • Two weeks since my review - so far : Problems : - The small display. Everyone I know seems to have similar problems with their 6170. The display goes dark or white and you can't see a thing from it. After a restart the problem goes away for a while. I'm gonna try and get mine fixed since it is beginning to REALLY annoy me... - The hinge has started to become more loose (when closed, you can move the front part just a little bit sideways).. propaibly the same thing happens to any flip phone after a while, and it's not that big of a deal, I just hope it doesn't get worse.. Anything else works perfectly! And I love the phone!

  • Well, it's past one month since my little review of this phone, let's continue: battery life: well it's ok ( +-3days). yes, memory is very low, but enough for me. It's NOT an mp3 player. I use MP3 ringtones which is +-10sec. long. I use the IR for coping mp3 into the phone. Yes, there is a delay between opening the phone and answering to the call when option "open flipphone to answer" is on. Loundspeaker is very good on the handsfree option (I use it when driving).

  • My 6170 is the second one. First one I lost it 5 days from buying...And I like it so much that I bought anotherone. Anyway, the small memory size is a serious disavantage!!! 2.3 M come on!!!! And the small display I think it has a design flaw! Mine is getting more darker or mor whiter from time to time. And a friend of mine has the same problem...Do you guys know something about this?

  • i love the design, too bad there's no bluetooth.

  • this Nokia is the best.Call records 20 dialed,20 received,20 missed calls -Design, absolutely everything about it! -Very good speaker (the person at the other end is heard loud and clear) -Size (not too big, not too small) -Displays (the small one is sufficent and the large one superior) -Camera (enough quality for me, at least..) -Keypad (Finally a man-size keypad!!)

  • i wonder why somebody said this phone is a disaster but without further explanation... c'mon! without arguement, your critics is useless fo us! i wish this phone sacrifice camera for fmradio and larger memory capacity...

  • this phone is disaster! my last phone was sony ericsson t610, 10x better phone than this one... i am sad for every euro i paid for it...

  • my standby eh..... ummmm... ahehaeha. well talkin straight it waz like 2 days??? but no talk its like 4 days and normally its around 3 days even if u talk 4 like 1 hour most of da time i run out of battery cuz i play 2 much game!! hehe. atleast i beat da mah jong game. hehe.

  • Can anyone tell me about their standby time with this phone? Mine I can use for about two days of avarege use then I have to recharge. I want to send it back for repairs but if this is normal then its going to cost me. Please help.

  • One sad thing about 6170, I got this phone the first week it is out here, but the price for the pass few months has drop so drastically that I almost faint. The only difference the 7270 is the 13MB memory and the FM Radio after comparing menu to menu. 7270 only cost me SGD20 more. Both play mp3 and also mp3 ringtones, but mp3 song is about 4MB per song. You need a very short mp3 song to put into poor 2MB (minus 1MB of Nokia's stuff) of 6170. 7270 has 2 games, the disco & the pin ball, not so nice. 6170 has 3 games, the Race, the looks like tetris & the Mahjong (my favourite). I realise that the 6170 & 7270 ringtone, Java games & Java applications (even our own downloads) cannot be copied out to the PC compare to some other older models of Nokia which can. Has anyone out there know how to copy them out so that I can still download them into my future phone. I am using 6170 but I think 7270 is a better phone. 7270 seems more for women but I have seen men (guess the black cover does the trick) using it too. The mini display of 6170 corrupts once before, my all the display becomes slant. Reset helps overcome the problem. Up till now, so far so good. If you use GPRS, clear the cache to save some memory for 6170.

  • I have had the phone for a couple of weeks and am delighted with it, but there is one significant problem: whenever the phone is ringing and i open the fold, it keeps ringing for about 2 seconds. The option 'answer calls when fold is opened' is active. Anyone else having the same problem?

  • Was looking to upgrade to Bluetooth as biz useful, but hated the look of all other phones so upgraded to 6170 for short-term (yes, I know style over substance) until can get one that looks as good and has BT. This would be my perfect phone if it had Bluetooth. Ironic really: the 'brand image' is young professional, but it lacks the requisite hardware! Please Nokia upgrade before I do...

  • ya same thing happens here. out of nowhere when i close da fone da small screen went reli reli bright or it just went all dead on me. aheaheha. but works perfectally fine afta 1 reboot. hehe. so far it only happened 3 times 2 me. about da other thing. push-to-talk is not for everywhere. aparently only some places in europe and most of asia has it. so it doesnt do much if u dont live dere. hehe.

  • I just got the phone I'm having weird prolems with the SMALL screen. Today it just shutted down when my phone started ringing. Yesterday it did kinda same thing and it was showing missed calls on it. A bright pixel also appeared on the screen (looked like dead pixel) but it dissapeared after few restarts. Main screen is functioning well and is not showing any weird things. Anyone have similar problems? Could this be firmware related? Has Nokia relased a new firmware after the release of 6170??

  • phone memory capacity is 2mb. but 1mb is already used by default graphics, screensavers, tones, etc. but you can delete em if you like to.

  • hello, just now i have read all your opinion and i have a few question to ask: 1)what is the actual memory space of this phone?? somebody say it is 1.6mb or 2.0mb or less than 3.0mb etc. 2)can this phone use mp3 as ringtone?? 3)if yes, how many song can this phone store?? 4)what is push-to-talk?? pls help!!

  • this little mobile meets all the expectations i would find in a compact, handy and useful phone on the go. the reception and voice clarity is even better than the 6260, which i had for 2 1/2 mths. nokia's installed screensavers, wallpapers and ring tones are such a delight to use and reuse again and again, so much so that the owner may not even want to download anything else from an external source. sure, these factory-loaded nth, gif and jpg files do take up additional memory space but if after a while you don't like some of the .nth or .gif pics then delete them (like i did) and download new ones. i don't need bluetooth, mp3 or fm radio functions and the absence of these does not in anyway hamper the easy functionality, reliableness and other software glitches inherent from a symbian smartphone. although the 6170 does not get a lot of attention, when compared to other nokia range, it is indeed a very satisfying abeit excellent model.

  • The 6170 DOESN'T have a radio I just got mine a few days ago (after 3 months of waiting...) and I love it! Here's my pros and cons : Pros: -Design, absolutely everything about it! -Very good speaker (the person at the other end is heard loud and clear) -Size (not too big, not too small) -Displays (the small one is sufficent and the large one superior) -Camera (enough quality for me, at least..) -Keypad (Finally a man-size keypad!!) Cons: -Memory (not a big problem, cause you can transfer everything to a computer via infrared or a usb-cable) -mp3 (at least I couldn't find a way to transfer mp3's as ringtones to my 6170...) -shiny surfaces (...tend to get fingerprints all over, and it doesn't look nice....) -The line (...at the top of the internal display. Looks bad with some backround images.. Does anyone know how tho get rid of it?) All in all, I'd give this phone a nine+ on a scale of 1-10. It pretty much has all the things I look for in a phone. So far I've had one clitch... the external display just stopped working (the display became very fuzzy) one day, and then I turned it off and on again and the problem was solved...

  • it's not a super phone of course. the only thing i can complain is the memory, but i do love the camera pic quality even if it's not 1megapixel camera.

  • matei, u said this phon has radio? really?? i tought this phon main weakness is no radio and low memory.

  • ok now.. the first thing u get to love at this phone is the design. I thing its one of the best looking flip phones out there. It's elegant. It has style. Pro-> 2 screens, while taking a pic, u can switch the image on the external screen so that u can make urself a pic -> The stainless steel covers.. look and feel astonishing -> Infra red, push to talk, radio, 500 entries, etc etc Bad things-> when i heard about this phone i thought it's the best out there.. but then i noticed that there are actually only 1.6mb of external memory. And u can't upgrade it either. BIG BIG dissapointement!!!! boy i just couldn't believe it.. i don't explain why nokia made it that way.. any way... i read somewhere that 2 minutes of video is o.7 mb... so i think it cand store about 2 min of video and 100 pics i suppose...(i hope).. If u aren't a photo maniac, it would do just fine. Plus u can connect it to the pc through an usb port and store your pics and vids and then delete'em from the phone to clear up space. I heard smdy saying that it's to big and heavy: no way. The size and wheight are just fine. Conclusion: This is a very good looking phone and this is the best part of it. It is elegant, stylish, simple design (which is really cool). You can also take pics and vids and listen to the radio. The decision is yours... I give it 4 stars

  • It is quiet a great phone its like a cheaper version of 7270 but the 7270 has MP3, Video Editing and the games a bit better. Oh and if your wondering AAC is better than MP3 ringtones AAC is 2 layers of Mp3.

  • just bought the phone today. love it! it's so cool... all my friends like it, especialy the girls...:D i'm very happy with my choice...it's totaty me... blink-blink...

  • i got dis fone about a month ago and i love it. i waz gonna get da 6260 but den dis has a second screen. only real diff between dem is no blutooth and no mp3. u kan only put like a few songs on it so not reli useful when i haf a real mp3. hehe. dis fone kiks.

  • What is the amount of memory does dis fone has???

  • it has more sounds than a reg. midi i just got this fone today. i absolutely love it. it looks very sleek and professional like. even tho it has limited features, i'm happy with it. this phone is for people that just wants a phone to call people with no bells and whistles. and the keypad is very luminiscent blue bright. it almost looks like a rzr v3.

  • what kind of ringtone 'aac' is? is it similiar with midi?

  • nokia should release more new phone so this phone price will go down fast... i'll buy it then..

  • I was realy looking forward to this phone as i wanted a device that would cut out the need for a seperate mp3player.THIS is not it!if somebody can tell me how to get my comp to recognise the phone i would be happy!and is this phone an mp3 player and i missed the point tell ME

  • i'd like to know what the main difference is between the 6170 and the 7270...

  • nokias answer to moto's razr v3

  • adl : what is the actual memory of 6170? total ard : 2mb

  • what is the actual memory of 6170?

  • My friend has this phone. I like it very much, the only bad point is that small memory capacity.

  • I finally got it!!!!!!!!!!! And I love it! I like the way you can make a selfportait cos you can switch viewviender between the little and the big screen. I would like to thank everybody on the forum for their opinions and views. They strengthened my belief that I should get this fone!

  • i've bought the phone 1 week ago. here is my opinion: design: too subjectif, people will like and some will hate. Metal plating front and back, shiny plastic inside. Nice blue backlight. ergonomie: large buttons, good handfree loudspeaker. Fingermarks on metal and shiny surfaces. Bright screens, the small screen is not as good as the inside. A little heavy, but you know where the phone is on you. fonctions: infared, agenda, typical nokia fonctions. No bluetooth, no mp3 player, no radio and simple camera (640x480). Low memory. fun side: midi, aac, mp3 tones can be used. Any bmp, jpg, gif, animated gif can be used on each screen. opinion: good phone, simple design with simple fonctions. I needed a phone to...phone with! price: well in belgium it's 350euros. I suppose that the price will go down, only because new phones will flood the market.

  • with its limited capacity how its going to save a mp3???

  • can n6170 support mp3/wma???

  • oh sorry... i read some prev comment and said that ringtone format is midi acc mp3.. (^_^;)

  • 6170 ringtone format? midi only?

  • LOL!! nicholas loh.... if a torch light is the main thing for you... you're in the wrong site probably... this site is for M-O-B-I-L-E-P-H-O-N-E-S ...

  • stupid phone!!!!!!!!!! i prefer to buy nokia 1100 atleast i have torch light to use.

  • wow!!! this phone is so miserable!!! good work nokia! you just show onece again that u are going to loose clients? is that the answer to motorola v3? try again later! good design - no functoins! why nokia, why?????

  • does this handset support MP3 tones?

  • a nice fone, i was considering this and the moto v3, i chose the moto but this is still a nice fone and i would recommend it. i have a thing for metal phones lol

  • dude! this phone is so cheap! omg..... i'll buy it =D

  • Cool phone! Loved it. Most of my friends are impressed by it's look. The phone is not v well publicised here so many of them are not aware of it's existence. Didn't regret getting it instead though it does not have blue tooth which is not my main concern. As for the radio, all I have to do is to swap phone which my hubby (whom is using my 7200) while i travel oversea or to beach! For ppl whom are still contemplating.. BUY IT!!! p/s I don't get any commission for that comment.

  • i just got this phone yesterday and id have to say that its awesome... i have yet to find any flaws, but i do have a question... i live in canada and im running on a rogers at&t network.. the problem im having relates to the internet... i cant connect to it.. i was wondering if you guys would know what to do so i can get it to work

  • i think its a sexy phone just two really annoying points no blue tooth and the volumme button and on and off switch on the side of the phone is a real pain always turning volumme up

  • to clear the operator logo with a transparent image. go by WAP to this page (it's for free):

  • finally a goodlooking phone, with brains! ...that only finns could do!

  • Can the operator name such as "TMOBILE" or whatever, removed from the main display?

  • Arzamond, that would depend on your priority. For me, I go for 6170 cos' I like the design. In terms of function, I would say 6230 is definitely more superior. I had placed an order for 6170 and will be receiving it in a short while. Will keep you posted!

  • very good phone, nice and simple design, and i don't really need blutooth or mp3 player. (but too bad, no mp3 for ringtone...) my question for those who already use this phone, what is the ringtone format? midi? and which is better, this or N6230 ?

  • I will like to place an order for this item 6170....

  • I'm plannin' 2 get this phone in March/April. I seriously like this phone but now i'm not sure cuz some1 put the pros and cons of d phone

  • Its $298 Singapore dollars (S$/SGD). The exchange rate of USD to SGD is 1 US Dollar = 1.63320 Singapore Dollar as per today. The phone will costs abt SGD 500 without contract here so that's abt the same as in US.

  • $298 American dollars for this phone w/ two year contract is too much. It retails for $359 here in NYC last time I checked. Don't do it for that price, just buy it full price with no contract. On this phone, I cant use the stupid web good because Tmobile USA only offers Tzones without a subscription. I can't use it as a modem either without subsciption to yet another service. I can't use e-mail either because it keeps saying "settings-incomplete." Luckily though, these are things I don't seriously need more than just a good looking phone. Looks like i'll be using my future Sprint PCS Samsung i550 for my phone-as-modem needs :-D

  • So what's so great about this fone? no bluetooth, no radio, no mp3 player. well, just be in contact with it and you will LOVE it. Its "steel appeal" is enough to overthrow all its lacking features. (of coz not to forget all the user friendly features of nokia) People who buy this fone must be crazy for metallic stuff and do not need all the extra features. (especially people like me who already have a gd mp3 player.) wanted to get a bluetooth fone for very long but in the end, just couldn't resist the stainless steel attraction. (can get the bluetooth adaptor if really want bluetooth) the internal screen is big and of very gd quality. camera though not megapix one, is fantastic. the IR connection with my laptop is really good and i was amazed at how the pictures transfered over displayed on the screen. the fone construction is very sturdy and if you throw in your favourite wallpaper, trust me, you will open the flip very soon you close it. just to have a second look. and a third. and a fourth...... superb fone by nokia.

  • Singapore is selling at S$298 (v good price) if we sign up for 2 yr plan with service provider and they are giving away a free bluetooth adaptor. Sounds like a good buy but I still have reservation as it doesn't support MP3 and it has no radio (not like I always use the function but nice to go beach with just a hp which it plays music). Am currently using a N7200. Stranded with the decision to make...

  • I recieved one of these for testing. The handset looks nice and has good features. What i lack is bluetooth (i can do without), memory card (i can do without that too) and good coverage(that i cant do without). I had quite some problems with signal, even with another N6170 i noticed this same problem. I even measured the signal which showed good signal in that specific area. Other Nokia handsets performed well in that area. This was a downer as i really liked this handset. R.

  • I think its really nice and sweet and feels great in my ass!!

  • this phone is great and i can't wait to buy one in march

  • At last, a phone that has a keyboard a man with fat fingers can use. The screen is a gem and the clam protects the screen from all the loose change in my pockets. Yes it has no bluetooth but who cares, the memory is limited but then again so is your PDA, mangement of files prevents waste. As you can tell I dont to attached to following market fads, if I did I wouldnt have brought the 6170. In summary the 6170 is solid phone that meets all of my main requirements and at last addresses the more mature market segment in providing; 1. Triband 2. Has Infra Red 3. Keyboard to sustain high text speed 4. Excellent screen 5. And if I really feel the needs for BT, the adaptor is a gut wrenching 20, bank busting.

  • so...there's a line under the operator???r u sure?sigh..i'm really tempted to buy this phone.but the features aren't enough for the price ,here in M'sia it's RM1,500.00 ...i like the look of the phone.it's plain and STEEL! :) most of them(family) asked me not to buy the phone as it's expensive n there isn't bluetooth!but...tht phone looks the best among all the other phones..in terms of design but NOT FEATURES!sigh...wht shld i do???can any1 recommend me on wht phone to buy??

  • Unfortunatly, No I got it with a contract.... going price right now is abour 300 euro.

  • When I read the reviews about 6170 and saw the photos I liked the phone so much,so yesterday I bought one, however when I compare the photos here with the actual one I saw that in my main menu there is a horizantal line on top of the operator logo.. It stays there even you turn off the themes or change the wallpaper.. The phone is very nice I liked it but I hated the line which will stay there forever... Maybe somebody can tell me how to get rid of that line..Thank you..

  • This got no bluetooth????

  • Bas, no way to grab it from another European country nearby? What's your price going to be? the phone is now $359 (US dollars) at myworldphone.com

  • No problem. I suspect memory is going to be pretty annoying too for most people. I think it's like 2mb per category, and there are three categories. Something like that. That I'll tell you as I get more familiar with the phone. I myself don't do much with my cell phone so it probably won't affect me much. I'm more revolving around my PDA. Next step is for me to figure out how to use this phone as a modem for my IPAQ 4350 in the US. cha_cha

  • Thanks Cha Cha, for your quick reply! In the netherlands they keep postponing the release date, most irritating!!!! It due any day now..... I can't wait. Especially since your review.

  • So this phone has only 2MB of memory?

  • Sorry for the delay. here's the review: Date purchased: Sat Jan 8th Price: $370 + tax Company bought from: Myworldphone.com Date released: According to them, 5 weeks prior to my purchase date, and at that time, the price was $570. But keep in mind, in America, because we have bad phones, we have to pay whatever importers want to charge. Again, I almost went with the 7270, and may in the future if I can sell my 6170 at near the same price I bought it at, and if the price of the 7270 drops by $150. So far, I'm loving this phone. It does everything I want. Although the con list may seem long, it's more just annoyances and not really cons. If anyone knows anything about these annoyances, then please let me know. Pros - - Looks: Open this phone up and it's beautiful. This is where you're going to get people looking at it. Pictures don't do this phone justice because shiny steel inside really looks nice. The flat buttons make the phone look and feel nice as well. - Typical easy to use Nokia interface - Mini display in front shows missed calls and messages all the time - Easy shortcut left nav button = compose text message but.... (See cons) Cons - - Phone's kinda thick - Plain looking in front and back - Whenever you go to the compose text message screen, the last message you sent is still there and you have to clear the text by either holding the clear button forever, or maneuvering through options and selecting "clear text". - when not lit, Dark screens make it hard to tell if you have a missed call or message without taking a closer look, or turning a light on. - No "light" button means you have to hit the volume up or down button, and then wait for a second to see any statuses on cell phone mini display - Accidentally hitting the push to talk button on the right side(under the assumption you odn't use it) causes the phone to ask if you want to enable push to talk, which means you have to open the phone up and select "no" - Flat buttons make it hard to figure out what you're typing because you can't tell which button is which -Ringtone player isn't as good as Sony Erriccson T60i's because the same ringtones sounded better on my Sony - Doesn't easily group sim card entries - for example, John/M and John/W wouldn't automatically be under John. You have to move it to the phone and do it manually. - No bluetooth, but Infrared's the temp solution. Yet to grab the data cable. - Small amount of memory means a 515kb mp3 file I wish to use at a ringtone kills most of what I have. Let me know if you have any further questions. I'll keep visiting here often until I get sick of my phone. At that point, come get me via email. cha_cha

  • where could i find your review, i can't find customer reviews anywhere! Yours would be one of the first! Thanks

  • Just got it last night. For everyone who's been following, I've been discussing the purchase of this phone on this forum for over a month now when I decided to get a Nokia instead of a Razr. Before I get into the review, I thought the story of purchasing this might be interesting. - Purchase of Nokia 6170 over the 7270- After almost two weeks since the (Dec 2nd?) release, I finally found some links on google and yahoo for vendors of this phone. the price I found ranged from $450-$500. I was still counting on my friend, who was visiting Dubai during this time, to find it over there too. he said it would probably be the cheap there. Finally, a couple days ago, myworldphone.com popped up on a google search for the Nokia 6170 - and listed the price at $370. right about then, my friend in Dubai told me to go he just talked to the UAE Nokia distributor and the phone wouldn't be released there anytime soon. So now Dubai was out. This company would be my only option. I had to pick up my Dubai friend from JFK airport in New York City yesterday, where myworldphone.com was based out of. So I asked if I could come by and buy the phone there, and they said no problem. I went to their store with a very cell-phone savvy friend of mine. I asked for the 6170, and was shocked at how good it looked in real life. Just the front is plain, but the pictures online don't do this phone justice (I'll explain more on appearance in my review). I also looked at some other phones they had there - Nokia 6260 (black), the new communicator 9500 (just for the hell of it), and the Nokia 7280 (the rectangle phone). The 6260 was what I first considered, but the lack of a mini-display and its bulky size turned me away from it. However, it did have the best looking front. the other two phones (7280 and 9500) I looked at just for fun. What I didn't anticipate was how much I'd be attracted to the Nokia 7270. this phone was beautiful too. (According to the people there, this phone was designed by Gucci, but you guys might know better). Shape and weight was similar to the 6170, but the colors were cool, and when you open it up, the shiny black casing really looked good. the only problem was that it was $500, and with tax, $150 more than the 6170. Me and my cell phone savvy friend excused ourselves for a few moments, went out to our car, grabbed our wireless laptop, and tried to get online to compare the 6170 and the 7270 (the boxes there really weren't helpful, and I trust my own research over salesmen's research). we were trying to decide if there were any other features to make the 7270 worth $150 more. But there were none. And I wasn't comfortable paying $150 for design only. So I went back in and bought the nokia 6170 for $399 (after taxes). Last thing - when the nokia 6170 came out at this store 5 weeks ago (I wish I had known this, now I know to watch this site for new releases), the phone was $570. 5 weeks later, it dropped $200. That being said, since the 7270 came out last week, maybe 5 weeks from now it'll be at a more affordable price. At that point, or maybe a few months from now, I may consider seeing how much I can get for my nokia 6170 on ebay, and then going and purchasing the 7270. If any of you guys decided to buy from myworldphone.com (who I highly recommend), say Shahryar - the guy who was there on sat jan 8th debating between a 6170 and a 7270 - referred you. cha_cha

  • The buttons r so big on this thing

  • another nokia waste of time 2 yrs too late and boring . what are they playing at ? Clam shells are supposed to look good instaed this heap of junk looks pony !

  • Ive heard that this fone is targeting the Motorola V3 Razr. I'd go 4 the V3 Razr it looks cooler! and its a lot thinner than this brick!

  • Drew, I haven't gotten it yet, but if all goes well, I'll have it by this weekend. I have a friend leaving Dubai in two days and hopefully he'll be able to grab it. If he can't, in New York city, there's a guy selling them and I'll just get it from him. I'm pretty much feeling that this phone is a good phone, but probably not worth the money. But I'm just in a situation now where there's nothing else out worth getting. And I know there are bright things in the future, but I just don't feel like waiting for them. Especially since phones are delayed so much. I'll let you know my personal opinion once I get it. If anyone wants to talk me out of getting this, please do so within the next few days. cha_cha

  • Drew dont wait for the 3128, doesn't look like a good phone, no bluetooth, no camera, I'm getting this one pretty soon looks ok, not as good as my 6230 but I want a flip phone and I can get it really cheap.

  • finally got it!!! yum!! metalicious :D

  • how much is it nd wot is d camera like?

  • to cha_cha, I've been following your quest for the 6170 , did you end up buying it? If so, what are your impressions of it? I'm going through the same debate with the 6260.. and even contemplating waiting for the 3128. How do you like 6170 in terms of menu speed, battery life.. any annoying functions or options that you have to go through?

  • Does this fone have an mp3 player?

  • to funktastic, i'm not using..but my bro..i think that's ok..but dun hav bluetooth n mp3..it is not heavy 4 me,the camera is quite good..

  • asked bout this phone and most dealers won't recommend it.................its just the look that's great but features are not worth the money

  • thanks man..is it nice to use??

  • to funktastic, it was lauch in malaysia,n my bro having now..it was rm1450(something) like that

  • so is this phone good?does any1 know when will it come out in Malaysia & how much does it cost?issit heavy cos it's kinda thick?thought of buying it when it comes out.how's the camera?

  • COOL! Metal phone ... must have one! Perhaps second-stylish metal color phone after 8910i, yet 6170 had more up to date features it's ok from the features side .. samsung like 128x160 display (acceptable quality).

  • The carphonewarehouse (UK) is selling the nokia6170 sim free only for 199.99 by direct sale on tel-0800 049 0049 (UK).

  • Thoe phones memory is a mystery. It appears to have no more than 3mb. Not enough to mauch the phones function. The nokia web site does not mention how much memory the phone is supposed to have.

  • I just wondering why 6170 is no Bluetooth port inside it ? I thinks it should be one package !!!

  • T, what country are you in? Does anybody know anything about pricing and availability in Dubai and India? The US seems to be importing in from $400 to $500 off of ebay and some sites, but I think that's too much. $350-$400 is my window. cha_cha

  • the nokia 6170 price is around 350 dollars in my country

  • no symbian, no FM, and the price is soooo high????? I think the suitable one should be $350

  • According to the Nokia site (http://nokia.com/nokia/0,,58863,00.html), its up to 4 hours talk and up to 270 hours standby, Ringing tones: Polyphonic tones, MP3/AAC tones, and monophonic tones - I forget the memory, but from what I understand, it's not that much.

  • this phone is out in taiwan... i need to knw three mroe things before buying it... 1. hows the battery life 2. whats the total internal memory 3. does it allow mp3 ringtones??

  • Hey Hans from the Netherlands. Do you know for sure you'll get your phone (next week) and where did you ordered it?? Thanks

  • US $380 in Singapore? That's pretty good. It falls in the range of the 317 to 420 Euros that Jaypee said. But who payed 490 for it? Isn't that pricey? Does anybody know anything about this phone coming out in India or Dubai over the next two to three weeks? What shops will have it in stock for a $380-USD competitive price? I got a friend there who's going to buy it for me and bring it back to the states. cha_cha

  • The phone debut over the weekend in Singapore. Selling price is USD380.

  • how much does the nokia 6170 cost???

  • Hi, could you please tell me the price of this model no. and want to know can you deliver it in india.

  • Jaypee, what Hanzo said is right (Thank you hanzo). If you work with CDMA and TDMA (in our pre-gsm days), then you couldn't do that. Cell phone went with provider, and you coudln't take your sprint phone to a verizon provider (still can't). But now, with GSM around, if we have a unlocked phone, it will work just fine - as long as it operates on our band. Which sucks because I can never own the nokia 8910i - (it doens't have a north america band) which is the phone I've always wanted. So that being said, the 6170 coming out in Europe, Asia, Africa... wherever, as logn as it has our band, I should just buy it. Right? Or is there something I'm missing.

  • I see and I try this phone in Portugal. Is the same series 40'. The display is a litle bit large, but the rest is the same. The memory is very bad. Have 1,2 mb for user and 1,2 mb ocuped.

  • Jaypee, make sure you get a unlocked phone then all SIM provided by which ever company will work for that phone. Keep in mind though, you have to make sure your service provider(operator) offers the bands that ur phone supports, if you are in North America, its' 850/1900 else where it's 900/1800

  • I've always thought that in America you have a whole different system with operators than we do..? According to an American I know, you choose your phone by operators, for example, if the 6170 is connected by a certain operator, it can't be used by other operators, correct? Therefor you haveto switch phones if you wish to switch operators, am I wrong? Here we just buy a phone and then choose an operator, which provides us the connection through a SIM-card. And we can switch operators by getting a new SIM-card without having to switch phones... I might have the wrong idea, correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm curious about this. That's why I thought it's impossible to use European phones in America, unless you're using it through a foreign operator, which would cost like s**t!

  • Jaypee, That's the thing. I don't know when America is going to release this phone(or the 6260 for that matter - you can't get them here from any provider). I want to get the European or Asian one because it should work in America just fine as long as it operates on our GSM band (1900 I think) - you might know better. I'm pretty sure my 8890 wasn't an American phone because all the spelling was different ("dialled" instead of "dialed", etc.). A friend of mine is in Dubai right now and he's the one who will be bringing me back the 6170 (or the 6260 if it can't be found). He talkd to the Nokia distributor for the whole UAE and Dubai and the distributor told him the phone will be out in 2 weeks. He also told me that Nokia is releasing an American version of this phone too according to the distributor, but I dont think that's coming out in two weeks. So that being said, why not just get the Europe or Asian one? if it's going to work in america just fine.

  • ...to cha_cha : EDGE will make it faster to go online THAN GPRS would. The connection is still slow.. but if you want to go online with a cell, EDGE is the fastest way so far. The online shops I know operate in Finland only. besides, the American Nokia website still has the "planned 4th quarter 2004" so they haven't even released it yet.

  • I'm from The Netherlands and the store-price is 470 euro's. I ordered it today :D It will be out next week over here so i'm gonna have loads of fun with it!!!

  • this phone haven't release in the Asia Pacific yet...

  • Thanks for the larger keypad heads up Jaypee. I think I've made up my mind on getting the Nokia 6170. I think I like the whole EDGE thing. I can see myself trying to hook up my laptop or my PDA (HP iPAQ h4355 Pocket PC) to this using the data connection to get online (the EDGE would make this fast, right?). Now, the big question, how can I get this in the US? I've tried yahooing "buy Nokia 6170" but nothing is coming up. Anybody know anybody who's selling it online and not in stores around the world? cha_Cha

  • I like this phone but how much does it cost???? ithink nokia have done a good job again

  • refer light sensor :P

  • memory: up to5mb syncml:yes sms: concatenated and pic msg and chat mms: send up to 100kb email: imap4 pop3 stmp video: up to 4mins with sound ringtone: amr acc mp3 midi image: jpeg gif87a/89a gif wbmp ota bmp png

  • this phone is available in singapore!!!! last saw it at a singtel shop!

  • ...and to Cha_cha: 6170 has larger keypad so I'd recommend that one for messaging. On the other hand, 6260 has a larger internal display....

  • Okay, latest info on the 6170: All the information below concider Finland, for othe countries, I don't know the exact info. - The phone is out now!! (released on December 2nd) - The price for this phone varies from 420 to 317 euros (the highest is the official price which Nokia recommends and the lowest is found in an online shop) - And as you can see, the data speed announced on this site has changed (by my request) because the phone supports HSCD and EDGE That's all for now. So hurry and buy the phone!!

  • Hello, I'm debating between a 6170 and a 6260. I am aware that the features between the two are quite different, but I'm not going to use a lot of what the 6260 or the 6170 have. I'm more concerned about how it looks and feels. Can anyone who's played around with this phone (Since it's not out yet) comment on the buttons and what they're like for Texting? I've found that the nokia 8890 has had the best buttons for texting making it increasingly easy. I currently have a sony ericcson T60i and it sucks for testing. Also, where are people getting the prices of $315? Can anyone give me information to get this phone for this price in the US once this phone comes out? Thanks. Any comments persuading me or dissuading me from getting this phone instead of a 6260 are welcome. I've read most of the complaints on the 6260. But whether its mono vs stereo, or low resolution camera, or things like that I don't care about. I mainly care about style and how easy it is to text on. That's why it's such a close race between the 6170 and the 6260. Thanks

  • Its a very good phone but how much does it cost?? Thanks, Michael.

  • How much will it cost???

  • The price (that Nokia has announced) is 420 in Finland. The cheapest I found was 317 (from an online-shop). I've already ordered one and the phone will be released around week 49-50.

  • I write here to tell you an URL that you can get phones and more things for only 30 USD (or 31 Euros). You pay this quantity via Paypal (or other) and you get a CD with software for your phone. Then you enter in a list and when 25 persons enter in the list, they send the gift to the first in the list, and so on... I'm in the list of the Nokia 6170 and the 20 Gb. of Sony MP3, I hope to get the gifts soon, yeah! A friend told me this URL a week ago, and he waited for the gift only 40 days. If you decide to order the gift, please put me in the "Referral Field", my name is Goyo Mora. The URL is Thanks for all, Goyo Mora.

  • This phone is too...Squarish?I dont know.Everything seems squarish on the phone.

  • why oh why nokia nice stylish flip but no important features bluetooth, mp3, etc i like this phone alot but the 6230 still rules as the best phone on the market!!

  • I like very much.( How much? )

  • it's the same here as most other places. NOONE knows when or how much. And if they did, you should find out for yourself instead of asking other people.

  • how can i buy how much when

  • really!?? oh, thats too bad. i change my mind

  • really like the design....but no radio, no bluetooth...even 7200 had radio....why??

  • i think nokia has made a good work. somebody could tell me when could i get the phone in spain unlocked? so i need price. thanks

  • i need the set urgent

  • Nokia really needs to work on their design stages. They have NO clue how to design a flip phone (6260 is their best yet) This phone looks little better than the 7200 which is horrendous. But Nokia really do make brilliant phones that have all the features you want I just wish they would concentrate on making a nice stylish design. Maybe then I will consider buying a Nokia phone. Don't get me wrong I think Nokia is a fabulous company my first ever phone was a Nokia but they just keep on churning out horrible looking phones!!

  • a bit of advice to anyone who wants to buy this phone, it is not at all a good phone to have. look at the apperance and the menu is really crappy i work for a nokia manufacturers company and i would have to say that the best colour phones yet although they mite not look as stylish are either the nokia 3100 or the nokia 6610i not only is the nokia 6610i colour it has a camera aswell with exceptional colour

  • could some email me and tell me where i can get the nokia 6170 to buy new and unlocked please

  • Its like a cheese and ham toastie!!!!!!1

  • My opinion about Nokia 6170 It exlant phones but I wanet the time for coming soon

  • Yo yo HUMPTI..!!you've gone TOO FAR..!!this is side which People share&showing opinion about Phones(not for YOU to show your anger..&using those DIRTY "4 words of YOUR"..!!keep them for your self..!!wake up and DO SOMETHING for yourself..!!million of people are reading your S..H..!!thanks you verymuch&have a nice day..!!(hope don't see your sh....in here again..!!)./.

  • This phone lacks the most important element in its desighn-a front display in the first place, and besides-the blue tooth...So considering this I would say NOKIA is on the right way, and there is a good chance that they will make a worthwhile flip phone some time in the future, and in the mean time..I`m sorry to say that-they fell a way behind many others... P.S. Also I forgot to mention that it`s not as light as it should be.

  • I hope Nokia stop releasing all the stupid weird designed phone. This one looks better. Keep it up!

  • Price: EUR 290,- (unlocked)

  • Hi, Please tell me that when would this mobile is available in India & at what Cost, It's nice & Compact.

  • the design of this is nice so i dont know what you lot are complaning about the phone has a very sleek feel to it

  • not very good design

  • hmm even though tis hp design isnt dat nice cos its squarish, but it have the best design among all the nokia phone

  • I like the giant keypad design. It is so big that you won't miss a key even with your eyes closed!

  • Wow! Nokia seldom make flip/clamshell phone, but when they do...see? It is still the best looking flip phone that can beat any other brands easily! Well done nokia!

  • samsung's clamshell design is one of the best looking around, but their functions is sux.

  • hey nokia, why are all your flip phones looks so square?? try to make your phone looks more streamline

  • this is a great phone i really want it as soon as possible pls let me know when.it,s only missing the bluetooth

  • So What About This Phone Is It Good Or What Coz I Feel Its Good

  • u call this a decent design? Samsung's flip phones looks much better

  • This Nokia has a decent design compared to the others. Although it could be improved much better.

  • When does this phone arrive at the shops in Europe?

  • Hello,i will like if i can get your magazin i will be greatful thanks.

  • why do you guys want a radio or mp3 player on your mobile phone ??? this is a phone not a player. buy a mp3 stick frim iriver then you have mp3 and radio. mobile phones dont have enough storage space the sound is crappy and the battery is empty after a few hours. so why these dumb features for a phone ??? if you want all this then a phone will be twice the money or more and it will be heavier then the 6170 is now. if you dont like it dont buy it. my 2 cent

  • why should everything be new Justice? who needs fucking bluetooth the best backdoor for hacker. und the whole fun shit concerning ring tones and games. why new features ? all i want to do is make some calls and send text messages if you want more go buy a palm or use a computer but not a mobile phone. this is the best designed mobile phone i have ever seen. some good business features but the 6260 goes more into this direction. nice buttons for people who dont have baby fingers. and a display which is big enough.

  • What is this thing???before was 7200 now Nokia have launched a 5 sopposely brand new phones..!!what's NEW..??they're all clamshellS/square/65k colors/heavy/ect..!!it's really disapointed..no wonder why 7200 started at $950.00 USD and now you can buy it for $400.00..what a shame..!!wake up Nokia so i can be proud to tell my friends that i'm using a Nokia..!!

  • Mika....well said.........LOL

  • I think you finaly made a progress Nokia. I will actually consider this phone now. ES still kiks your ass though!

  • Wow Nokia! You've finally learned how to make clamshells. The 7200 was a catastrophe.

  • This phone whilst feature packed weighs 121g my friends also the latest mobile technology mixed with only a 65k tft and the external display may aswell be black and white at 4096 with 96 x 95 and also i might add that why would you make a large top half of the phone with such a small in comparison display...too many questions need answering with the latest to offer from NOKIA for mind, please look towards the SHARP GX 30 and your local VODAFONE dealer.... Regards Simon Mobility Magazine

  • NOKIA HAVE LAUNCHED A GREAT NEW HANDSET BUT HOW WILL THEY GET RID OF THESE WE DONT KNOW COS EVERYONES TAKING ABOUT THE NEW P[HONES THESE DAYS ALL THE OFFERS ALL THE HIGH STREET SHOPS ARE GIVING AWAY,AND NOT LETTing the public get hold of these new fones.why? because there on a skank.they shove all the old and shit fones to us then they wait till there contracts are up for renewall then they cry cos by the time they get there fones all of the stock then is out of date,u getz me gee.so thats why u wanna go somewhere like phones 4u to get youre fones hered there doing great offers at the moment keep it in mind whenever youre in town.all OUT.THE MAN P.2DA G

  • I have for sale this phone .. Please contact me

  • Thank you Klaas. It is In deed by far, the best I have used, but Nokia has a chance to catch up, I think this phone has a very clean and aerodynamic look, unlike other - plain dumb-stick designs from Nokia.

  • morela, Define your words. Give proofs.

  • he he ...... ugly phone.

  • hi oll the nokia mobile phone i think are perfect

  • a facility of recording incomeing telephone or outgoing telephone calls would be really useful and will welcome by the subscriber

  • Mika..................you are richt about that, the menu and intefce from SE is the best of the rest.

  • This is the best from Nokia so far ! I love it even though I will only buy Ericsson ! nothing beats Ericsson Menue style

  • Now Nokia is trying to make "Flip phones like MOTO" But still Nokia is million miles behind. Bad design. Less features! Nokia! You ae late !!

  • This thing is stunning, top of the range for now and deffinately loaded with technology. What is the price and how do you apply.

  • nokia sure is targeting more on flipphones now. I love this phone. can't wait for it to come out. I just dont really dig flips, cuz i text a lot and i wouldn't wanna open and close the flip all the time each and everytime i get a text.

  • bloody hell !!

  • Will come in the 4.Q. to europe: price EUR 290 (unlocked)

  • Very nice design !!! But bulky and no bluetooth, and probably the poor nokia 65k screen and the bad looking nokia UI. Missed again Mr nokia

  • it is heavy cos it is mad of stainless steel... basic functioning phone in steel... liking it

  • it has very good features, it's able to stream audio and video files..95% of the phones don't have radio..it has edge..good phone with good design

  • woot so here comes the 3rd folder stylish phone from nokia! normal features no mp3/mpeg player no radio no bluetooth if you are not expecting for higher features>.

  • very cooll, i like this design (simple & elegant sense) Nokia, good job !!!

  • Cute design, not bad features....I SAID NOT BAD!

  • Nice design Nokia great JOB, its amazing how well you were able to copy the Sony Ericsson Z1010. Great copying skills 5 Stars.

  • looks like the Z1010 but this is a powerful device with PTT and a camera. This is a rather BIG step foward from 4k to 65k. It seems based on the 7200

  • what is push-to-talk feature in this phone

  • This phone is made from stainless steel - that's why it's so heavy. :) Not a plastic brick... \o/

  • How to make an ugly new phone from an old one, as usual with NOKIA. And no radio! Come on Nokia, do you think customers are that stupid ? You have nothing knew to present, so you decide to have a new design...

  • 6600 heavier..

  • elegant

  • radio?

  • heavy
