this phone is great! i like it.. the only problem is its speakers, when i play music the sound is not loud enough and i always have a problem with the flex.. i already let it, but now the flex is broken again.. its expensive to let it be repaired.. and very hard to find a repair shop that has its parts. :-)

Hi All, I've been using this phone since 2008 and up to now 2010. For me, the phone is really great and beside I love this phone being unique though others nt inclined using its features but getting will let you discover more good things of a phone. WWith its Package Software I was able to make it as my Modem temp as well as transfer my SIMS Contacts to my Computer and vice versa. The only it lacks is: FM Radio and Camera Flash. For me though its simple, it's simply the best!!! ^_^

I bought this one 2 years ago here in Bulgaria.It came with 5 /!!!!!!!!/year warranty card which i found pretty strange for the price of like a hudred euro.Its been like a month and then i found somethin strange,i saw the promo vid of the fone and i found out that on the back it has the alcatel 'music by alcatel' logo-nothin like that was on mine! you have to bring your phone to Alcatel's service center. it happened to me too. the service center fixed something inside the phone. i believe it's normal for this handset becuase when i showed it to them, they took it with just a few explanation from me and without hesitation nor further inquiry. looks like it happens all of the time.

I have had this fone for almost two years and only recently got the ribbon changed (FJD$60). I find the design to be easy on the eyes, the menu user friendly and have had no problems with the battery. The paint on the cover has peeled over the years and people have noticed and ask "What the hell happened to your fone?" but I feel it gives it an antique feel. One problem I had in the beginning was that I couldn't download stuff from our local network provider (vodafone) like games and stuff, but since this phone has a universal USB port, I can download java games from the net and load it on the fone. Another thing I noticed is that no one here in Fiji sells assesories like funky covers. Otherwise, nice phone.

it has the specs of a high end phone, the style is good . but the ware and tare of this phone is in question. maybe its how you use it but base on my experience, i dont like it, the flex is the primary problem of this unit. in just 4 months im at the store filling up for repairs. bottom line, good specs and design but not that robust like other high end phones!!!! salamat !!!!!

I have got this phone for about 2 months and I`ve not faced even one problem with it within the time. About Ahmed`s problem I should say that you`d better set the mesaj`s profile in messages main menue and set your operator`s settings and number manually again. Especially I suggest unchecking the "Read Raport" option and in this path (I write in turkish because my phone is in turkish lang now) : "Mesajlar->ayarlar->Metin mesaji->genel ayar" and again set the "Tercihli veri destegi" to "Tercihli GSM", I think this should work; but if this paths was not clear for you Please remind me to rewrite them in English menue.

I just bought this phone.. i think the price is very good considering the features it has, other brands with the same features are much more expensive, anyway i'm just having a slight problem with it.. i can't figure out how to move a file from one folder to another, example.. when i take a picture it automatically stores the pic in the "my creations folder" of the memory card and i want to transfer it to the "my images" folder of the memory card.. it doesn't show any option to do so.. i hope i can get some help here..thanks

need not to download the pc suite...as u insert your usb, it will automatically read by the pc...u can just transfer and copy files to and from ur celfone, just like doing in an ordinary usb.

I bought mine on December 2007 and on March 2008 I brought it to the shop in Park Square One, Makati for servicing (under warrantee period)of the frequently 'freezing' keypad. Now I'm getting my phone back. The technicians say they just replaced the "flex(?)"--a part found in slider-type phones. Nothing else serious. But now I'm in a dilemma on what to do with the phone once I bring it home--because I now own a second hand Nokia 6233. I'm thinking whether to just keep it as a spare phone...or just use it as an alternative to my USB flash drive or selling it. (It still looks good even on the outside). Yes, you can use the webcam of this unit even if you don't have a driver at all. As long as your OS is windows XP, it will automatically recognizes the phone. Just choose the webcam option oce you plug it, open a YM or any messenger, configure the setiings and wala! instant webcam on the go! =) I've tried it and the resolution is great!

I called the distributor Versatile they can only give you the basic setup but not enough info. If you're Globe user, and don't want to wait up in line, just go to their website and click on their customer service link they have and look for the GPRS setting link. Try to find your phone and model.

The gprs settings for all mobile phone is not and can never be included in the manual because the phone is sold worldwide and there many service provider around the world. It is only your service provider who can provide you with all the settings for gprs/mms. But here in the Philippines, the exclusive distributor of alcatel is already preloading the necessary gprs/mms settings for the three competing networks.

I was really frustrated configuring the gprs setting when I got this. I just couldn't find where to set the ip setting. The manual they provided doesn't help much, you need to explore your phone and dig deeper in to the menus. That's how I figured out the WAP/GPRS setting and the other features of the phone. I can only say visit the office of your provider and I am sure they can give you the proper settings. As for the usb which is faulty, did you maybe change your PC? From XP to the inferior Vista? Also... try a different usb cable maybe the one you use is damaged.

Just take your phone to globe customer service center and tell them that this phone is already preloaded with the necessary gprs/mms settings and their go signal is just the only thing needed. If only you are a SMART user like me, you will not need to go to the customer service center for activation because when you insert a smart sim card, the phone automatically uses the gprs settings for smart. All you have to do then is just to type GPRS ON and send it to 3401. Type MMS ON and send it to 3401 (and of course make sure you have load at least 6o pesos)and after 24 hours your SMART GPRS/MMS is activated.

Anne, I don't understand why your unit does not have settings for SMART, GLOBE & SUN's MMS/GPRS. The settings are already preloaded in each unit so if you are only SMART user like me you don't have to go to the service provider. When you insert SMART sim card to your open line unit, it automatically detects or automatically use the gprs settings for smart. All you have to do then is to type MMS ON and send it to 3401 & type GPRS ON then send to 3401 and after 24 hours your SMART gprs is activated. I your unit don't really have the gprs settings for the 3 networks, just post it here again and I will provide. All alcatel units from ALCATEL exclusive distributor in the Philippines(VERSATILE) must be preloaded with gprs settings for the 3 networks.

Had tried to install the latest suite on my new pc with Vista...and it can't identify the phone. Very disapointing that T&A haven't realised that there are actually users of Vista out there, even if they said in their readme files that it's supported.

having your phone as a modem is only possible depending on the network that supports your phone.

If you want to use your phone as a modem you will have to set up the wired or wireless connection and install the phones modem driver (included on CD). After that it should work.

know what...i dropped this phone for several times..but thank God it's still in good condition..hahaha..i love this phone though..i put 2 gig micro sd unlike other phones like nokia or samsung it will hang or log in downloading the applications. they prefer to use 512mb..but mine..i never experience that kind of thing..hahaha.. i stored movies, esp bleach episodes, 400+ mp songs. i can play the song with subwoofer..hehew..but downloading new themes is not applicable..hahay..but still this phone is cool...=)

i have the same experience with honeyjao. same case. it's been a week yesterday since i brought it to mega cellular. i was just transferring files via bluetooth then all of a sudden it turned off and i can't turn it on anymore. i hope that they can fix it asap.

As Knightrider and Nelson said, all phones from all manufacturers has defective units. I've got plenty of friends who had problems with their expensive Samsungs, Nokias, SE etc.. Being using this phone for 6 months now, and there's absolutely no problem with reliability/quality. Go return your unit for a new one and you would not regret it. sorry for your luck though

honeyjao, your decision to return it to the store for repair is right. Let them fix the problem as your unit is still under warranty. Just remember that any phone brand can be infected and be damaged by a virus that usually enter into a phone via bluetooth. This might be the reason why it happen to your phone. But I believe they can still fix the problem.

Can somebody pls help me? My phone suddenly shutsdown and I just thought the battery just need to be charged but when I plug the charger there's no icon that appears telling that it was charging. I can't turned it on after that shutdown and quite weird for I haven't drop my phone to have this problem. after a few false starts, it seems that the board replacement made by the phone's distributor worked to my satisfaction. its audio features still don't quite measure up to walkman phones of sonyericsson: i don't use the headset provided, i use my old sony fontopia. i don't know about you guys, but to me the best equalization setting is on "treble" - it offers the best possible output. it offers a bigger frame per second rate than a sonyericsson walkman phone so the video is more lifelike on this one. so am i willing to switch brand loyalty at this point? if versatile telecoms can be more physically accessible to its customers, perhaps.

day 4 after being replaced by versatile and it seems to be doing fine...even inserted a new memory stick. if it not for the fact that i had to go back for a replacement twice, i would've be more raving about this phone. by itself, it isn't bad phone. for its price and features, i think it's a good deal. but its distributor in manila, versatile, better make sure that its units be as defect free as possible. having gone back twice for the same problem is not a good thing. you guys might want to recall and recheck the units you shipped to megacellular (shangri-la ortigas)- that's where i bought it.

I've been contemplating a second phone for quite a while. I've noticed that there seems to be a lively discussion among philippine users about the 825 and because the feedback has been good from the distributor as well, i decided to try my luck with this one. The first day however wasn't good as i had to return it for a replacement because the first one hung - seemingly forever. the replacement has been good - so far. as for the function, well, you can't possibly have everything so i'm quite happy so far. i would however change the naming convention for alcatel because it's not as "one touch-y" as it seems. but overall, it's a good phone, features for value. if this were an ericsson phone, i would've paid double :)

mozilla, use card reader. It's the simplestm quickest and easiest way. Ace, units from versatile (those that have versatile sticker) already have preinstalled with smart, globe and sun cellular's gprs/mms settings so you don't have to worry about the internet in this phone. If you are using smart just do this. First, be sure you have load (at least 60 pesos). Second, type mms on and send to 333. Then type gprs on and send to 333. Turn-off your phone and turn it on again and wait for 24 hours. After that, you will have your smart gprs/mms activated. No need to go to smart wireless center.

Tranfer the files either through bluetooth or usb cable ;) simple as that. For the phone to become infected with a virus the virus has to be "written" to attack a mobile phone OS... if the virus is not compatible with the phones OS it will not attack it and the phone will not be harmed... but please to be sure, just scan your files with a virus scanner before moving them to the phone.

This phone does not support wma... or wav... but you can convert wma and wav files simply using software like "switch audio converter" that way it can be played on the phone. Manual lock of the phone is done by pressing the * icon on Alcatel phones usually, but as this is a slide phone the key pad should lock when you close the slider... Leanne: Where do you live? The very easy way of downloading files from your pc to phone is using wireless connection. No need to use usb cable. Just insert your micro sd card in a card reader then insert the card reader to your pc and you can already download files by just dragging and dropping.

i got this phone last oct.20 and so far am loving it. i got it for only Php 6,990 with 2 years warranty and i've already tried it as a webcam and i've just downloaded a full movie using a 3gp converter from for free. Before that, i tried converting an avi file into mp4 but it didn't work so i resorted converting it to 3gp.the camera is not that bad though although there is no flash/light unlike my old phone but this phone is fully packed with features that other brands with the same price don't have.

Ever hear of codecs? There are several codec types used in mp4 files... you can't just randomly download a file and think it will work. You have to make sure the codecs are compatible, in the case of this phone the codecs are: * MP4, H263 profile 0, level 10. * MPEG-4, simple visual profile, level 0.

The delivery report option is not functioning despite the telcos offering such service. My previous phones all work fine in this aspect. If anyone have got such a problem and managed to find a solution, please let me know, appreciate it. I think most of you already know that OT-C825 is a great phone and it's worth every penny; comparable to more prominently branded phones priced 25% more. But allow me to tell you more of my opinion on its shortfalls. 1) Vibration can hardly be felt. 2) Volume is low despite turning it up max (both listening to other party and music). 3) Keypad feels like soft plastic. 4) Bundled earphone keeps dropping off when in use (maybe my ear is too big). 5) A possible difficulty in finding replacement parts (if needed). 6) And yes... delivery report is not functioning for me. Other than the 5 points above, I personally highly recommend it.

I work for Alcatel-Lucent and had to hand in my beloved Nokia 6020 for this gadget (eat your own dogfood). Though I do recognise the fact that it must be appealing to the majority of you, I have specific business needs for this phone and I miss features my good old Nokia posessed. The biggest problem for me is synchonisation of my agenda with outlook. That feature is grayed-out in the software. It does however sync the contacts. I am puzzled here :-/ Anyone have any idea on how to hack this? The other issue I have is more technical and I can not really blame the phone, but it still is annoying me. I had 2 simcards in my nokia (dual sim adapter). It gives weird results now and keeps my OT-c825 losing the active simcard. bummer

Capricorn: If your MP3 is a full-lengh song then it will play the whole of it. You can use a mp3 editing software to change that or just go to Zedge.net to download the ringtones

Capricorn: This phone doesn't seem to have voice-recognition feature, although my old OT556 has it.. I've never tried using the webcam before i installed the driver..but it's painless to install the driver, so it's better not to take the risk of running into driver problems later on.

KnightRider/Guys: Sorry for the confusion, what i meant was you can either stored text messenges in the SIM card or the phone's built in 10 MB. As for MMS, you can't set where you want to saved it to, and the default is the phone's memory...as there's no way to change the preferred storage.

If OT-C825 works as other alcatel mobiles (like E801,S853,757) all incoming sms(text messages) are stored on the sim card - so capicity of inbox is depending of the capicity of your simcard. you can transfer the sms to the phone memory with the archive option

in other words..it also depends on what sort of messages you are storing..if you like me sends a lot of mms then for 10mb you can only store like about 5 mms.. i don't really know the exact amount of sms you can store on the phone's memory but if it's all text messages, should be quite a lot for 10mb worth of space.

Yo guys sorry for the delayed response.. Nelson's right, you can choose which method you wanted to save your messages to. If you choose the default (Phone memory) like i did then you are limited to..if i am not mistaken here, a total of 30 messages. If my memory card you are only limited by your card's memory.

According to mobile-review in their review of this phone, "the number of messages stored in the C-825 is limited only to the volume free memory; you can also categorize your mail by creating custom folders." This phone has 10 mb memory so I think it can store more than that.

Low end Alcatel phones in the E series are capable of storing 250 sms messages, this phone does not give an exact number like that, but it should be over 150 sms. SHOULD! But like I said an exact figure is not known to me, unless any of my much appreciated collegues know it here.

i just used the ordinary in-ear (gel type) earphone plugs from genius labs, (he he he.... poked out from my pc!) Yeah true according to my own listening ear it flushed out my nano's performance... i compared it & used as jack-auxillary in to my JVC stereo system... a big nono for my nano... this time my alcatel loved the mainstream as the pro for my listening pleasure, hey i have my iRiver, treKK, samsung cube, creative muvo ( yeah i own a lot of mp3 players) but they cant beat the sound out mechanism of my alcatel.... that's for sure. Hi Tommy There's an usb handsfree dongle that can be connected to the phone's usb port (duh), and there's a port for the standard stereo headphone on the dongle itself. It's better to get a stereo bluetooth headset coz if you connect normal wired headphones to it the cord would be so long it's annoying.

Hi Tommy. A few weeks ago I was comparing the speakerphone quality of the OT-C825 with my friends' SE K750i and the Alcatel lost. It sounds tinny by comparison but you do have to take into account that the Alcatel is cheaper, and that with a decent headphone, it will sound a lot better.

Awesome alcatel fans... i have had just tried the bluetooth handsfree function of this phone and paired it with nokia bh-501, i tried it with sony erickson bluetooth was also okey, but it was with bh-501 that it was heaven... i also linked/wired to my stereo system using 3.5mm stereo jack with 2 ended RCA's phone jack.... it was splended... i guess i have to wean out and be detached with my nano....

No - the camera is a negative point at C825. the photos are not very good...(I know - just 1,3 MP, - but there are other phones with a 1,3 MP Cam - and they take better photos).

my phone is very interesting the look of it is classy but not pricey coz i got it for PhP7,890. All features are useful & genius, save for the keypad it's not that ergonomically functional i guess i will be having a long time to get used to it (hope i will not suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome), response time is somehow not that jiffidy fast, i prefer & fix my network setting to manual mode, it helped to conserve battery, i use my phone as a camera, a mp3 player & for gaming, though i still turn to my NgageQD for gaming I am learning to be very in love with this gizmo because it is eye catching.

Hi D If you are familiar with an Alcatel phone, then it poses no problems on the interface front. Battery life is good, but with intensive use of Mp3, it shortens considerably. The screen is great for the price. Quality is the best i've ever seen on a Alcatel. What i don't fancy is the ergonomics, as the keypad feels strange. The software is also not great. If you already had a OTS853, you would not get a lot of extra from buying this phone

Yes, you can send/receive files (video, jpegs etc) via Bluetooth. Being trading MP3s with my friend's SonyErricson, though when setting up the link, you'll have to set the same password for both phones.

Hey guys and gals just got the phone 2day, actually someone gave it to me :). My 1st alcatel phone. Well its a slider phone and its great the screen are sharp the menu are fast and slick can record unlimited video time, the sound bit tad light but you can adjust the Equalizer though. The buttons are good and smooth only if u have big fingers a bit annoying. Camera 1.3Mxp with no flash but you can adjust the features of it. Video I think can play 30fps which is good and can watch full on the 2inch screen.Using MicroSD and yeah the processor its fast and can play audio on bluetooth headset A2DP. Anyway its a great phone a great alternative to the likes of Nokia and SonyEricsson. P/S: I'm from Malaysia and its launching next week I got this phone with a 1GB MicroSD yup browsing is good and Java handless pretty well. Ok be back now playing with tha Phone ):P!!!

We all wonder what happend to ALCATEL, their only big hit was the OT db series (easy, max, etc )which is one of the best selling mobile phones of all time and some see it as one of the best mobile phones created in history. They just weren't able to create another good phone other than sub-par inferior phones compared to the competition, and have been in a downwards spiral ever since the OT db was discontinued.

Hello everyone, I have it from 5 days /1 charging of the battery/. It is simple and easy to use � very logical menu. Have a perfect loudspeaker but bad earphones for the handsfree and MP3. When listening in nosy surroundings to MP3 the noise of the music is very low. Haven�t try with other phones /it has 3,5 mm jack/. Very bright display.

Simple answer... yes... The phone supports 2 gb Micro SD cards (hotswap)(at least it was announced like that). The speaker is ok but the S853 was better due to multiple channel sound. Photoburst is a certain type of photo shooting mode, its difficult to explain... you will just have to see for your self. Also this phone is NOT available in black... the black one is the slightly different C820 (GSMArena.com please add that phone too).

I've found the OT-T701 in one of the shopping malls here in Kuala Lumpur. It's selling for RM 990 (Approx USD 290). I took a good look at the set and it's not that impressive to be honest. been reading thru alcatel site they have got sum interesting fones and the childish junk written on hear is just idiocy.This fone is bang up to date and if nokia had brought this out you be singing its praises.I think alcatel started mainly doing wat phones should do and thats make calls but some of their kit is gorgeous just looking at the ot 835 i think with its silver play ff rew buttons and 2.1 sound,,its a classy fone but these other firms never stand a chance with silly comments,,and ive come from the nokia bandwagon of bug ridden fones to a simpler fone an s/e w610 and im joining a whole new bunch of people fed up with the top dogs getting the glory wen in real life they are churning out the fones that should be in the bins of supermarkets..ITS a refreshing change to wander into other manufacturers sites and i bet every single alcatel does wat it says and does not crash or have to have constant upgrades to survive

A good feature of this phone is that the video camera is unlimited and can just keep on recording until the memory card is full. Most other phones don't allow this, so this is a great feature for an alcatel. I hope to buy this phone real soon!

A good feature that would push alcatel to the top mid end mobiles would be EDGE capability. And maybe they should start making Tri or Quad band mobiles, instead of the ordinary dual band.

This phone is also meant to be available in black aswell as brown...www.cellatel.com... there is a picture of the black version on there. In my opinion the black version looks much better than the brown. Hopefully this will be available in the UK soon for a good price.

the story is this:Alcatel's mobile phones had being losing money for years, so they sold of this arm of their business to TCL to form T&A Mobiles.
