I bought 701 just a day after launch. i used 3 years this phone and it lost then , i was very satisfy with it camera was very good. never hanged. i still love nokia 701. after that i bought lumia 730 its more than 2 years it is working great. after apple nokia was best phone manufacturer . i love nokia.

Got it at 2011 when was out first time ... i am still using till now, & original battery still works, just need to get a new battery, because its battery capacity is low, has only 2 days stand by now 2016 & if i get a long phone call, it switching off ... great phone with the good symbian software & is a rock solid phone from hardware ... very few scratches at the screen & around it, but come on it has dropped many times down on floor and i am using it every day for 5 years by now ... very pleased, never let me down & still working great

I'm using this phone for almost 6 years. My phone drop many time but still can function. last year my phone screen crack drop from motorcycle seat but still can function well. Only my phone memory card slot can't detact memory card. Screen change and memory card slot get repair around RM2++. I received a msg from Nokia that Nokia won't support whatsapp next year. feel sad. NOKIA 701 is the best I had ever bought. Its camera competes with IPhone's. VDO quality is xclent. It has FM transmitter which most of the phones lacks. With this feature you can listen to songs wirelessly in you car and as well in your home music system. Moreover it has two charging points USB as well as power pin. It also supports DLNA, if you have wifi connection and TV with wifi you can switch your NOKIA 701 and transmit your Photos, videos and music to TV wirelessly(great feature). There is lot more in this phone. I still prefer Nokia phones, though Nokia do not exist in the market. I request Nokia to bring your phones soon to the market with bombastic OS with which android may get obsolete. Thanks Nokia.

Probably the best phone i have ever used, i downloaded just the essential apps i use and it meets all my daily needs easily. Its reliable, well made, fast and i can use it for 3 days before it shows ow battery after which it will still run for another hour.... I also have a Samsung modern smartphone and have tried the Nokia 808, but i still choose to use the Nokia 701 as my main phone as it is comfortable in the hand and small enough to fit in my pocket - a great design. Software wise it is falling behind the times with the latest models but some of us just need the basics without having to give up a great camera, reliability, build quality, great battery life and a small size. I just wish this was made with a faster 3G data speed and an auto focus camera and then it would be perfect.

Beware these Apps: Sadly, I have to report my phone has developed 'reboot' issue. Symptoms: every 4 to 7 hours, phone reboots, other times locks up with 'out of memory' error- only way out, remove battery for 10secs, then restart. I read a blog another user had same problem.  The problem with the Nokia store (I have never been to the new 'opera' store) is user feedback cannot be modified once comment/ rating is created. Many users cannot warn others if an app is malfunctioning after a few days.   So, this rebooting problem started after installing one or another of these apps-I don't remember- so I recommend to readers INSTALL one by one, try for a few days. (Those marked with X immediatly show 'tiks' with the 701) -Smart Notes Full(V.1.2), -X-QR Creator(V1.0.0),-Whatsapp(V2.11.609), -X- Swype(V1.0.19197), -X- Double LED Waves(V1.3.0) -Belle Extra Buttons (V4.0.0),-X-Thumb Nail Folders Ads (V1.6.0) -GPS Scout(V1.0.0),-X- Clipbook(Manager)(V1.1.0). No more Nokia store? Fine, I will just keep using my phone with apps installed for a few more years.Note that since circa June, 2014, Whatsapp stopped working on my phone even after the 'upgrade to new version' prompt. Nokia service would probably fix this reboot issue, in a jiffy- we'll see, maybe in a few months. South India users beware, regional language web pages not supported so characters appear appear as 'boxes'. Features I like about this phone, the lanyard loop- called phone tag in India (like employee name tag, with no chance of dropping the phone), that allows me to carry it around my neck, the built in voice recorder (could improve by saving files as YYyyMMmmmDDhhMM.nnnn.etc -where nnnn is the existing sequence number, yes, its nice to quickly view the date/time of recording), then, gorilla glass(not a single scratch on the screen, 3YEARS LATER!)

The Nokia 701's battery is literally splendid, it lasts for more than 24hrs if you fully charged it, and it doesn't take too long to recharge it, it even lasts 1h when battery is low, Nokia is doing good at the "Phone surviving skills" . Lol :p

Dear Friend never buys this phone. This is totally bad phone. I use this phone for 2 year. hi... i,ve been using this phone since 2012.still on its original batt. currently my batt can still last up to 24 hrs. so charging once a day only. it depend on your usage. i seldom on games, video and music. i connect to internet (browsing and whatsapp) may up 2 or 3 hrs per day. i simply switch off bluetooth, 3G, data connection when i dont need it. this phone got fantastic features compare to a more expensive phone even on this present day. cheers...

Bought this phone new last night am am quite impressed with it. The 3.5" display is a world of difference from the 3.2" on my Nokia 700 which I have been using for several years now. The Nokia 808 with the 4" screen is more of a workhorse with its heavy camera. The 700 and 701 are were strong designs and I am pleased with them both. I Just can't own an a plastic phone like the Nokia 603 so I paid the extra for the Stainless steel and aluminum 701. By the way, is looks better in person than the 'mug shot' photos of the front back and side suggest.

I decided I didn't want any more Nokia updates after web reports (circa Sep., 2012) of phones crashing, overheating after FP3 Update. All phones/operating systems have annoyances, tiks. Instead of correcting these, to my horror, FP3 caused the phones to malfunction. It is worth mentioning, since Q3, 2014, the app. Belle Extra Buttons, by developer Mr.Alshawahy, helps those stuck with a 701 to get their money's worth. Another 701 'tik', is some debit card/credit card transactions fail on 701- not in Andy 4.1.2., not the latest browser update. No, better go for a product with warranty, Andy 4.4.2 Kitkat, like Motorola Moto E (without flash), or Spice 498 Dream Android One, (without Corning Gorilla glass) Oh, I got my money's worth- after I use my 701, my first Dolby music system, for 10 MORE YEARS, it has been a learning experience which is why I have awarded it 5/5 stars. The single 'deal breaker' for the average Joe, the lion's share of Nokia customers, is the BUNGLING DESIGN NEGLIGENCE of not providing adequate ringer volume(66dB). Is 701 like gold Rolex, for Super rich- ringer not audible(missed calls) in typical street noise, kitchen, factory(no chance!), but ok for sound proof a/c limosine?Compare ringers N8-82dB, N97-75dB, N9-66dB. Of course, if Nokia intended to target 701 at high end affluent customers, then a feature by feature /app. comparison with the premium products from Apple iPhone 3/5/6 is justified. I have honestly written SOME (please read the reviews here, I have many of the of the same complaints) tiks of the 701 so other competing mobile manufacturers don't try to cut any corners 'just like Nokia did for the 701', good for everyone when I buy my next phone. Nokia 701: Much better overall phone with very good clearblack screen and camera, but no Android, no popular apps, extinct Symbian OS! My advice: Buy a Moto G! It's cheap and very good screen and better phone experience than XL, but on par with the 701. Or a Moto E, even cheaper!

You need to install Nokia Suite on PC! Installing FP2 via OTA was never good as it came with varying types of bugs! Backup with Nokia Suite first! Then install the update again in the Software Update option in Nokia Suite again in PC! Try installing the update twice or do a factory reset and then update via Nokia Suite! Not recommended updating major updates via OTA for any OS!

Hang problem can simply be resolved by restarting the phone or pull the battery out. Regarding call reception problem maybe the "Mute" button was unintentionally pushed. Or go to Nokia customer care or repair center to be checked.

Because symbian is for people who satisfies a customer like me :) symbian support some good apps: skype, wechat, viber, whatsapp, opera mini, opera browser, molome, photo browser, andromenu, fb browser, tweetian, danger dash, bejewelled. Hello everyone. Im rodj. Currently im still using my Nokia 701 for almost 2 years. It was nice and easy to used. It can manage lot of task. I download some apps like fb browser, tweetian, molome, uc browser, viber, wechat, flashlight, whatsapp, photobrowser, dunlock, iunlock, extrabutton, andromenu, fastube, skype and a whole lot more. Nothing to worry about this phone. Simple yet stunning. Although nokia leave us alone and give date until jan 1, 2014. I know that it was sad. And im moving forward to ios of iphone 5. But then again my nokia 701 stays with me no matter what happen because of its durability and its features. Thank you and i hope that we support nokia no matter what happen even they leave symbian and focused on window phone.

Nope it only up to 720p. If you play 1080p, you can only hear the sound. mp4 and avi is the possible extension. Flv files would not be able to be listed in Videos but you still be able to play it if it less than 720p

N701 is much better thn c7. And its not possible to compare them. N701 is symbian belle but c7 is symbian ^3 s60. 701 has LED Backlit however c7 has LCD. 701Graphic is awsome. It is really good for gaming. 701 cpu is 1GHZ however C7 is 800MHZ. Overall i highly recommend u to buy 701.

@Anonymous. True, the RAR can not be unzipped in Belle but what i did was to unzip it in my laptop, connected my phone to the computer by USB cable, transfered the unzipped folder to the phone and then i was able to access the SPB file i wanted.

@Rara, like i posted earlier, it is not an issue of flashing but it is a skin that runs alongside Belle/FP1/FP2 with windows 7.5 or windows 8.0 look and you can return to Belle/FP1/FP2 at any time if you want. @Anonymous et al. Wow, I managed to install Windows 8.0 on my Nokia better than windows 7.5. It is not a complete OS but it surely transforms the phone to operate like windows phones though you can always go back to FP1 or FP2, whichever you have, at any time. One particular thing i noticed with it is the PHOTO EDIT that was in the original Nokia Belle appears under the applications and works perfect so it is kind of a bonus if you always missed the old editing of photos.

base on the restart issue;the nokia 701 has internal gps which is not compatible with the operating system:as a result hanging & restarting the phone.[all nokia belle],all u need to do is to;go to settings under application settings and click on possitioning under positioning method and sellect assisted gps and also sellect network base,then unmark the rest....thats all...enjoy

I dont experience any issue. In terms of music, dolby was awesome. Social network tweetian, blast, skype, opera mobile, molome and photorim was the best. For gaming jetpack, fruit ninja, ice slice, roman jewel is the best. The camera is superb 8megapixel with vga camera just enough. Belle fp1 is awesome and I dont understand why some people dont satisfy. If you dont like nokia then dont buy it. No one push you. Just me, i am a Nokia 701 user period. Happy and Contented.

sir, am using nokia 701...when i bought 701 it is fp1 and i updated it to fp2...it is awesome...but when iam using fp1 i can decide the size of the images as wallpaper as my wish...and also set the size or part of the images as set to contact also....but i cant it used for fp2....when iam changing my wallpaper or contact picture the picture is automatically set as default size and cropped as default...is der any way to solve such an issue? Otherwise it's awesome....plz give me a reply sir..

Hey Sandy.. Try *#0000#, and check whether the OS is FP1 or FP2, if it is not, try upgrading it first to FP2, by tapping "Check for Updates" in the same Device Manager. If its already updated to FP2, Go to "Software Updates", the Green South West Arrow Icon, and Tap ans wait, it will show up the new upgrades. Use a 3G enabled SIM for fast downloading. Regards

Hi Bharat, Thank you for your response. Kindly note that there are two Separate Update Options in Nokia 701 or any Nokia phone which runs on an OS. First One is the *#0000#, which opens the Device Manager and Updates Firmware.. i.e. OS related updates viz, FP1 to FP2 likewise. There is one more Update option, that is present in the Menu "Software Updates", this checks for recent patches and newer widgets and bug fixes in the current OS. Try Both if you have not upgraded it to FP2, orelse, try opening "Software Updates", better use a 3G enabled SIM, to get these faster. Mine was from Airtel Operstor, so I got them on 17-May-2013. Its really Cool to See the Front Camera functioning again, and Stopwatch.. you'll surely love it.

I was gonna use my sandisk 16gb micro sd card class 10 with this mobile but it says "MEMORY CARD CORRUPT" but this memory card is working fine with other devices and computer, only in this mobile not working. i formatted many times, took care of file type while formatting still same problem. I dumped nokia and symbia way back in 2010, now this 701 looks really improved and impressive... Although i still prefer my htc desire s although the battery really is nonsense. Back in those days my friend's nokia N8 had quite a few games and apps, infact till late 2011 it remained that way to the best of my knowledge. I didn't know what's been happenin to symbia all along. HEnce I want to know now, is nokia providing the support we need, atleast in developing the basic apps and games or have they completely abandoned belle app development? They may not have a million app in their store like android but i care about those basic ones like enhanced video/music players with high codecs support, along with annually released games like pes,realfootball,asphalt,need4speed etc? Reason why i'm askin all this, the zippy cpu and gpu of this phone looks promising along with its descent batterylife. It doesn't just seem wise to optimise an os for outdated apps. I want to buy a symbia phone i could keep to remind me of the good old days incase symbia eventually dies completely. can someone help me here pls?.

Hi, I am a big fan of Nokia and keep asking my friends to prefer Nokia Phones. I am using 701 for a year or so now. It worked well. But now there seems to be some problems with it even after doing factory restore twice. It gets restart on its own. Language changes automatically (don't even know which language it changes too.)Although i have not download any other language. At times when i lock my phone the screen lights are still on and can get ride of it only when i remove my battery and restart my phone. Can anyone please help me with these. I want my phone to work flawlessly. Please Help!!!

@Nosmega. Yes, the issue is with the FP2 update for the NFC tag to be read but as of the time i bought it with Belle, it was reading it. I was trying to prove to SONIC BEAM that the phone supports NFC. Right now even if it doesn't read the tag on the manual, at least it can sense that it is an NFC tag, that is good enough. Also that one is able to transfer files is proof enough. Thanks

@kimbo,am using nokia 701 both the "FM TRANSMITTER & NFC" are working fine.i tested it with the nokia 603 and it worked(send&recieved pix)..but as for the tag on the manual i touched it,it popped up a msg;unable to read tag:invalid format..well i think it might be the fp2 update i installed recently..but it can share and receive file from any nokia enabled NFC mobile phone.

@Sonic Beam. I assure you this phone support NFC. That is one of the reasons why i chose it over C7 and it is the first function i tested with the NFC tag on the short manual that comes with it in the pack to access Nokia store and it worked. Yours might not be working either because your phone has a hardware problem or because you did not activate it. It doesn't activate itself. You have to activate it manually just like Bluetooth or Wifi. If you activated it and it ain't working, then it is a hardware error but not all the Nokia 701s have the error. Mine is perfect.

Guys don't discourage others from buying the phone. Not all the problems you are facing are being faced by everyone who has this phone model. I have my Nokia 701 running on Nokia FP2. I bought it in March 2012 so ideally i have owned it for a year now and i have no regrets. I even prefer it to iphone because of its internal hardware advantages like radio, FM transmitter, NFC, TV OUT, USB On the go....e.t.c which iphone lacks and its advantage of using MACRO SIM. The only problem is after the update there is no front camera function but that is sorted by a third party application. After the most recent update, i have personally seen an improvement in the quality of photos taken compared to FP2 before the most recent update.

Hi ultrabee, for your photos ensure that your photos are in the folder E:\DCIM or C:\DCIM or F:\DCIM and for the video it should normally be in the video gallery if the video format is compatible with the Nokia 701.

I never thought about using 3rd party apps for the camera. But I followed your suggestion and tried CameraPro. My phone is saved !!! Thank you very much. The app is also very good, offers many options, but the main thing is that for 2 days since I installed it, I can take pictures whenever I want, for how many times I want. It is just great !!! And with this experience, one thing is for sure. FP2 has many bugs !!! Not the camera of the phone gets broken if you update to FP2, but the software for the camera gets ruined. Nokia should take care of this and also other bugs too, or at least they could offer a solution to downgrade to FP1, because I would be the first to do it.

As I noticed on different forums this last update only offers some extra improvements for the gallery and camera. You will not get any front cam button and any extra improvements for the OS I don't think there are. If you still have FP1 on your phone, my advice is not to update to FP2. I used FP1 right after I bought my phone last year and it was just fine. I made the stupid decision to update to FP2 and in my oppinion I destroied a superb and brilliant phone. Don't get me wrong, with FP2 the phone is very usable and almost everything works...let's say fine. But there are many bugs, bugs which were not present when I was using FP1. And one more thing about FP2, which I hate the most. After I updated the phone the camera (and I refer to the camera at the back of the phone, NOT the front cam) has really big problems, at least in my case. I can't use my camera to take pictures !!! And the simptom is like this: I use for the first time the cam, all menus come up and I can take photos - I exit the cam and next time when I acces the cam no menus come up, nothing and I can't take anymore pictures. The cam starts, because on the screen you can see the background your are pointing at with your phone, but there are no menus, options, and the cam button won't capture any picture. The only solution for me is to restart my phone each time I want to take photos, because the cam works only at first usage, after that it goes to hell. I was hoping that this last camera update will somehow fix that bug or whatever the problem is with my phone, but no, it did not. So for anyone who still wants to update to FP2, in my oppinion, stick to FP1 because with that OS, the phone is perfect !!!

Thanks Lufy for the link you posted. I have manually installed the updates by transferring the files to my phone by BT and installing them. I have seen a tremendous improvement to the camera mostly. It is clearer and also so far i have noticed in a darker environment that the red eye effect is no longer there but yet to confirm from a photo i will take in the dark. Unfortunately, still it has no front camera update. As for the gallery, it is back to normal and what is more, whatsapp has been added to the list you can transfer photos to plus there is a short cut at the bottom when one wants to add single or multiple photos to a multimedia message.

About the post related to the Gallery and Camera update for FP2, you will see that on that forum many people say that they can't access the update or no update shows up either on Nokia Suite or on their phone through the SW Update option. Maybe Nokia will roll out for all product codes this update but if you don't want to wait too long for it you can install the update manually like shown here: I tried this for my Nokia 701 and it worked very well. Just download the .zip archive with all the files, connect your phone using Nokia Suite and install manually all files and after that just restart your phone and there you will have the update.

if you are using an original accessory then it should not be a problem as the original adapter can read up to 120 gb hard disk. And i use my 16 gb regularly. Try to back up your 8gb pen drive and then format and then read it. It will work

This is regarding usage of USB OTG cable for Nokia 701 mobile. When I connect 2GB USB pen drive to the mobile using this cable, the File Manager is able to detect all the files in pen drive and I'm able to open the files easily. If 8GB USB pen drive is connected, the File Manager is not opening the files and it displaying "Opening Files..." even after 15 minutes. Will there be any memory limit for USB pen drive for using. I'd say, go for 701, it is not dual core but Symbian is great. though, if you like more apps and you have no problem with widows, then 620 is not a bad phone either.

I really don't know much about that but... i think this depends on apps, i don't know if their is a performance gain in 2.0 or 1.1 . They both render 3d graphics in different modes. 2.0 has more capabilities and you can do allot more with it, as a developer. But this does not necessarily mean it is faster. If one app uses openGL 2.0 then it should look nicer:). More detailed, not so square outline. I still don't know if this makes it faster...

Yes i forgot some things, like 16 gb n8 and 8 gb 701, NFC and some others. With predictive text i don't know what you mean. This was invented in 2000:). Both have it. But i think that was clear that at some points 701 is the winner and at some others n8 is. Overall performance 701 is the winner, i told that to. So, i think i covered the important things. Hey, i've just talled you:). Every info is there you will have to chose, not i. If you want to know about quality, the both are made with good quality, very good quality. Both have strong signal. No worries there either. My701 (is not mine mine, you get the idea:) has some wlan connectivity issues, but there is not a commun problem, so it is just bad luck, i wanted to take it back many times but i always forget or don't have time. So i can say that both have good internet connectivity. Now, 701 is faster, faster browsing to (not by much, but faster) while n8 has better camera and amoled display. Both have good social integration but i never use it. I use sometime fmobi and nokia chat. I am not interested in this functions so i cannot tell you much. Both have great sound but 701 lacks good headphones(with a new good pair you will notice the difference). Both have good battery life but 701's is slightly better. As for design, i don't know. N8 when you hold them together, is a more manly device. Is more robust, and fat:). While 701 is slimmer and feels more sensitive, is not sensitive, but this feeling makes it more girly. But this is in front of the n8 of course. In front of others (like galaxy crap) is more manly:). Overall performance, 701 is faster. But minding the fact that you want this two devices in one, you will probably need the 808.:). If you want more vivid screen and better camera and a nice pack that comes with, also a faster then other symbian devices 808 is the only chance. If you don't have money, you will need to sacrifice some things. Speed over camera and premium pack, or vice-verse:). So, you chose here, not i:).

I've transferred lots of Movies from my Desktop to Memory Card and work smoothly, but few movies need to be converted because of codec and format compatibility. Syill I'm satisfied with the performance of the Video player. So If you are a tech related person then I request you to plz try using 64GB memory card in your nokia 701 Belle FP2 phone,. Because I also wanted to have a 64GB memory card but unfortunately its not available here yet (place - KASHMIR). I suggest you 64GB because Wikipedia says it does support 64GB. And 32GB I've already tried and its working super smooth.

This depends only on you and what you need. Both have strong pros, but also have cons. So to say... What do you need, and which one you like more? IS the design a matter for you or not? With this said we can go straight to business 1. N8 has a full aluminum body with plastic caps while the 701 has a steel battery cover and edge that surrounds the digitizer is also steel. Rest is plastic. Both have corning gorilla glass. This goes strict to your likes and preferences. 2. N8 has AMOLED screen while 701 has LCD. 701 is more brighter but N8 is more vivid, and the colors are more deep then 701, making the screen look more appealing. But this will be noticeable only when holding them together. I say, here N8 wins, but there can be allot of other opinions. So, this is at everyone likes. 3. Camera in 701 is not bad at all, for an full focus camera, takes quite good pics. Remember full focus is something else and is not to be compared with fixed focus. While fixed focus is good for nothing, full focus has everything from 50 cm to infinity (what it can see, of course) into focus. But everything closer then 50 cm will be blurred. I think it doesn't matter what i say about N8 camera, cause everyone knows. It is the second best in the mobile world. So here N8 wins 4. The box ... N8 has allot more goodies packed with then 701. better headphones and has 2 extra adapters for hdmi and usb OTG. 701 pack lacks them all, ok 701 does not have hdmi but has tv out. Still, no cable for that. 701 has only some low-end headphones and data cable, that's about it. Here i can say the N8 is the winner. 5. From here i can say that 701 recovers what has lost. Everything is more faster and improved: 512mb 701 vs 256mb RAM N8(you can tell the difference) 1300mhz 701 (after belle fp2) vs. 680 N8 128mb gpu 701 vs. 32mb N8. 701 Is the winner, is faster it has the latest belle and will, probably, get more updates. 6. Both have good connectivity , so here is a tie. 7. 701 has a better battery, on paper and in real life to. I think i covered them all. If you like 701 design (it is kind of to slim for me) and don't care to much about auto-focus camera. I'd say, go for 701 (also if it's not to expensive). If you care about camera, go for n8 it is not so far from these days and i think you will find it cheaper. IF 701 is cheaper the n8, definitely go for 701, even if you like to have a better camera. you will get used with a full focus camera to:). If you have money, go for 808:D. I hope i didn't confused you to much. At the end it all comes to your needs and likes. What you need and like?

Nokia 701 is better.if your more on durability go for nokia. but for gaming go for samsung. that is my opinion. because in my hands on experience with my lovely nokia 701. it was lasted for 2days and it has also the brightest phone ever. and wait there's more. although the Symbian was discontinued by nokia. still nokia support more and more apps on nokia 603, nokia 700, nokia 701 and nokia 808. so what are you waiting for. dont hesitate to buy Nokia 701. yes, but only for voice calls, no videocall. There is an app called fring, you can do videcalls with it. They will make soon a big update of it, for symbian, at least they promised that. So after that update i thin all symbian devices will be supported. I'm saying this cause i don't know if fring runs well in fp2 devices.

Hey, as far as i know 701's display is easy to replace and if you are lucky enough to find a digitizer with the metal part that surrounds it is even more easier. Search ebay for original parts. You can search like this: Nokia 701 original. this should be for all languages:P. Also, you can look at this video for more info: this is for Nokia c7 but they are in the same body. This is how it should look, if you are lucky to find it:)

Hey, it is very fast and stable OS, but i cannot say that you can upgrade safely. Maybe you won't like it and you gonna hate me:)). All i can say is that is good, i think is the fastest there is in Symbian world. To bad you cannot turn off the theme effects. But even with that. It is still faster then the old belle. now i don't know hot fp1 works cause i never used it. Maybe someone can tell you if is better then fp1 or not:)

Hey, slow down dude:P. Did you read my post good? The guy i was answering to, said that Nokia smartphones does not support Skype video-calling. And i gave an example of Nokia smartphone "Lumia" that supports Skype video-calling. There are low-end smartphones that have this hardware limitations but i referred in general, of course! I didn't point to a particular Lumia, no? I also think that was clear that i know that Symbian has Skype, but i said that Skype does not support Symbian video-calling and not vice-verse. First of all, belle fp2 is the fastes os out there. Second. Why don't you people inform your self about the changes in fp2? Front camera is working. But doesn't work anymore from original camera software. It is not a bug, this is how fp2 was made. Also, you cannot send multiple photos from gallery anymore. Gallery on fp2 is very simplified, i don't like it either, but this is how fp2 is made. Also, keybord, has some missing useful stuff, but was made like this so to fit bigger buttons on it. If you don't like it (i don't). You should thank to users that kept complaining about symbian keybord which, by the way, i always liked more then the useless one android uses. Now, about your other problem. You sould do a firmware reinstall, but first: Backup only contacts, messages and notes if you would like to have them (no settings, no installed apps). Also, backup important files from your mass memory. Now, press dial then press *#7370#, accept everything that asks for (also give your security code, if you have one). Your phone will restart and will be loading for about ten minutes, so don't panic. Will show you that is loading or will show you only NOKIA start up. After everything is over, select the language is on (don't change it) then just let your phone load everything, don't select nothing else. Just let it load, after 2 minutes, all should be over. Now set what's left to be set (date, time, region, all properly). Now just plug your phone in your pc and open nokia suite (if it doesn't open automaticaly) and let it to install the plugins. After is over and your phone is connected just hit update and reinstall software. Always let your phone pluged in pc till everything is over, till nokia sais that you can use it. Now, do some work on it and see if you still face problems.

NO, You cannot make video calls via Skype on FP2, only Audio calls, messages and file sharing is possible. Its definitely not an issue with the FP2 but a disappointment from Developers of Skype as they didn't develop any version for symbian supporting Video calls.

Naved, (1)Fp2 keyboard is Faster than fp1 I believe, now coming to your problem, yes you can edit your words and scroll through the written text,all you've to do is move your finger across the text and then the two scroll bars appear in place of "enter" and "number mode" with blue color. hope you got solution. (2)for front camera you can also use this app. (3)yes you cannot rename any picture or video in gallery, and one more thing you cannot send multiple images or videos via gallery, and I Thing that really needs improvement from nokia. (4)Yes there are less features for editing but these features wont let you down as they are really smooth, but few more features are really needed. Hope Nokia Listens. (5) I think The FP2 has no effect on GSM network, As I've talked to so many users who upgraded from FP1 to FP2 Including me also, but none of them had any problems regarding GSM network and GPRS or EDGE. I think you may have some other problem or you can also try Changing your SIM card or even operator for confirmation. If the problem persists continuously then you must Go to Nearest NOKIA CARE CENTRE. Feedback is appreciated.....!

Thank you for the reply. I took it back cause i'm pretty shore it is a hardware failure. As for hacking, I always install my firmwares with phoenix. That is not a problem for me. I'm a pretty much Symbian geek:). I wanted to know more about the phones behavior rather then it's system:). Sure, but only if I know probem and I'll try my level best to help you, and I cant guarantee 100% help as nobody is perfect. I Think you are a bit confused. First of all its FP1 & FP2 (F=feature P=pack). Now coming back to your problems: 1) Keyboard.- here you not clearly mentioned the problem, so I guess you may have same issue as mine. I'd two languages like English and Hindi. and it was annoying as i was having Hindi keyboard instead of english If I by mistake tap the globe icon at the bottom of keyboard. So here I just go to settings>Phone>Language>Writing Language>English (Checked) >Qwerty or Phone Keypad (depends on ur choice). Then you also have word suggestion there, which i think is good so i keep it on but you can also turn it off if its annoying to you. Just simply tap on its button on right side andd it will be off as you'll then notice the button turns black instead of blue..... 2) Front Camera. I think you need to read the previous posts as i have already provided links for SCAM. By scam you can access the front Camera and take pictures via front camera as well as back camera and its totally free. 3) Photo Gallery. Here its disappointing that nokia has removed the options for sending multiple files buy marking, you can only delete multiple items by marking. But here nokia has added the FACEBOOK button thats pretty decent as you can directly upload photos and videos to facebook. 4) Photo Editing. Yes you can edit photos but you have less options as compared to FP1 or previous Software versions. Simply open gallery tap on photo then tap on Right extreeme button thats options then choose edit. 5) GSM Network. I cant guess here, so you need to clearly mention your problem.

I remember some 701 users reporting problems on nokia disscussions forum regarding WLAN (auto disconnect), then soon a WLAN update was rolled out that solved the problem. But in your case, Well you seem to have Strange problem, I mean not a phone-model specific problem (WLAN), may be a manufacturing defect. As In my phone Wlan works Smooth, Even i've Transfered Lots of files to and from my Windows Pc using "MyExplorer" via Wlan, no issues. Well as far my daily use and the phone's performance In every aspect I'm pretty much Satisfied Except (Still) Camera(Fixed Focus) because i usually shoot Macros (Close Shots). I need to adjust the Phone at proper distance, otherwise If I get closer i get blurry Images. Now talking About Pros And Cons. I think this Phone has Little cons than Pros. Pros: Superb Gaming, Although lesss games available as compared to Android. Superb 720p - HD Recording with continuos Video light, great even indoors. Superb Multitasking. - A Symbian legacy Feature, that I'm Addicted to. Cool looks, Beautiful widgets, Multiple Home screens, fluid Interface, Very fast response. IPS LCD, best outdoor performance, even in minimum Brightness settings, - really the brightest smartphone in the world. A good video player, supports wide range of codecs. Best Audio player, Dolby Digital Headphones - Exceptional. Exceptional third party apps - A little tweaking is needed for some apps.(Hacking - for certificate errors) Full tutorial is here ... and much more pros to say regarding overall perfomance,,,,,,,,.. Good battery backup. CONS: 1) Fixed focus camera, although not too bad, but capturing text for OCR, usually disappoints. 2) No third party Video Player like CORE PLAYER or MX player. 3) Third party apps are few and Don't expect much increment in the coming days as the Symbian platform is now Officially to be discontinued from 2016.

Hi everyone, im using my nokia 701 since april 16, 2012. but now im facing a problem. my phone on and off button is not responding, also when i try to download application to my nokia ovi store it always shows download error ? i am the only who faced this problem or not? should i need to bring my phone to the nearest nokia care?

Depending what you like, symbian or wp? I say that this phone is great. I worked with it and feels superb. BUT i have this problem with wlan now... ok not i, my girl... but, i don't think it is a general issue. I just think that i had some bad luck and will take it back. Hopefully they will have another one. I say hopefully cause it is very rare... hard to find. I got off the shelf...:(

Hey, thank you for your reply. In fact those antennas are for Mobile Network signal. Gps/wlan antenna is in the same upper area but is a bit larger. With Operator Network signal i see no problem, it's powerful as all Nokia's. Also with the fm transmitter, no issue. I didn't test it's gps reception though. So, finally, i didn't quite understand if, your wlan signal strength (but only wlan signal) goes down radically while holding your phone in landscape, and you lose coverage or not? I said also before, i occur "Mobile data off, no connection available" quite often...

Hi Carol, on the signal strength.. the manual shows that the antenna located at upper right of the phone [on the front cam area and lower bottom (green,menu,red area) which is fully covered by my thumbs in the landscape position] so maybe thats the reason for your issue. but actually i dont realised the issue until you mentioned it.. perhaps cos i'm using my 701 with a casing so perhaps the signal managed to slip through my fingers ..ha ha ha although some ppl said its great...i'm still on fp1 cos neg-ve opion on fp2 (last para of Rather Sultan's post confirms this i believe)... ok hope this helps.. cheerss...

I bought this phone for my girl, after a fight decision between this and the 700. i asked for help here but nobody gave an answer. Anyway, i bought it. But now, i'm facing some strange behavior from wlan. When i hold my hand on the upper part of the phone (when holding in landscape mode, camera area). Wlan signal drops down like crazy, and sometimes is just lost... facing no connection error. Now, i know that this is not a normal behavior, but i wanted to know if this phone has a deadpoint spot where, if you hold your hand, loses it's signal strength?!. Ok, not like my phone, which is loosing it's signal quite radical, but a slight loss of the signal or maybe more then a slight? Can you confirm or deny this? Also, you say you are on fp2. How does it work for you? You face a small rate of errors (freezes, restarts, somebody calls but you can see only a black screen)? i am no Symbian newbie, i am no stranger from technology either, quite at all. So if you are a tech guy, then hit me with all i can expect from this phone. Pros and Cons. I still have time to take it back if it doesn't fit in the normal parameters of an "ok" 701 functionality

I am finding it impossible to connect to my wireless router. I scan for Wifis and see my Router. I try to connect and it says "Select network supports easy setup for receiving settings. Configure now?". Never seen this before, if I say "yes" . It says "Configuring connection settings" ... for ages. Then stops saying cannot configure connection. NO LUCK. So I try to connect the old way and select No to the easy setup. It asks for a password. I give it and the it says "Connecting..." for a few seconds and them the router drops back to UNknown. No conection. NO LUCK THIS WAY EITHER. I have had numerouse devices connected to the router in the past so it cannot be at fault. Any ideas?

Its great to be with nokia 701 from past 1 year...I was first user of my city and since then I update it thrice and every time it was great experience.Some issue with primary camera but as I use 2G technology Its not of much use..so its ok,,,,Symbian is much easier to handle than Android or else and its capacitive touch is quite butterflow experience.

i know dat nokia 701 lacks autofocus..but dudes believe me it is built with 2nd generation EDOF lens that's quire impressive imaging compared to dat of c7's generation(1st gen EDOF) though EDOF'S(Extended Depth of Field) lens are continous focused they are pretty good for shooting regular images and videos...check out this link Overall it's a great device with 1.3 GHz processor nd 512 mb ram and a great G.P.U that's capable of playin games like The Adventures of Tin Tin &Asphalt 6 Adrenaline HD.....has NFC,nd a great feature that many mobiles lack -FM transmitter(drives any loud speaker with great audio quality)usb on the go...and many features...the only drawback is that nobody cares to support symbian...no good games releasing these days(I hope asphalt 7 heat HD comes to nokia 701)...The one thing i will say for sure is this is freakin awesome device with great features and amazing look with a not bad 2nd gen EDOF 8mp camera and great feel when one holds,great build quality....I've been using this device from 12 mnts...it's a great device for this price range

You should try TTPOD or Tunewiki... TTPOD is much better than any other symbian music player...it has lots of sound effects including surrounding effect, also having nice visual interface....you can download it from their official website www.ttpod.com Or you can search for Tunewiki in your phone's Nokia Store....but if you wanna take my opinion, go for TTPOD...

I did,nt face any problem and error with fp2... .so why should i say its bad...... Now about update..... If you connect ur phone with ovi suit it will fully reinstall the belle software with fp1 or fp2...but if you update over the air means by using ur phones updater than it will only update the fp1 or fp2(not the whole belle) if ur phone not showing and update than go to nokia care to update...

Not always this problem occurs. Then why should i restore my phone 2 times. I think its caused by some particular application or a process because i still have so many 3rd party apps and i thought you may know that. . Although i've downloaded app stop and it works well. U know i'd one more issue with the Panorama, as sometimes it was hanging after a photo was taken. then i'd to reboot the phone for panorama to work again, but now thanks to app stop i just kill the app and start again.

@zeeky; If u can't flash the phone, u should hard reset it using the keys combo. It erases everythin and there's nothin to worry about if done properly. Qt & photo editor are embedded in fp2. Then install all available updates, your games and all. I noticed i could play every hd game i installed without lag, like PES, RF2010, avatar, spiderman, dungeon hunter2, nfs, asphalt6, eternal legacy, assassins, etc. For me, my phone's ok.

@Sultan, I think you should restore the phone factory setting like twice. Give it 4mins on first bootup (in the homescreen), then do it again.. Hope this helps.

My 701(fp2) freezes in gallery sometimes, then closing gallery does work and phone works normally but if i open gallery again the phone freezes and the process is repeated. then i'd to restart the phone. Few days back it was working good but i installed few apps and this is the result. Although i've uninstalled various apps now but still no luck. Any kind of suggestion would be appreciated except Hard reset. P.S: this phone is awsome as i've been a fan of this phone since the day it was announced. love the apps it has like camera lover. panorama. Joikuspot etc. few games like fruit ninja. nfs adrenaline, avatar etc. but now its sometimes annoying when it freezes. belle fp2 is really a great experience. multitasking is superb.

yes it has DD, this option is active only when the headphone are connected

really fp2 not fully supported. in fp2 secondary camera not open mark file or sending option not avalible in gallery also photo editor and video editor not avalible in os...then why nokia is launch this type os....

you ay there is nothing wrong, but my nokia 603 was much faster with fp1! fp2 is awesome, and the only drawback i found was in performance and the gallery, though, i dont really care about gallery. everything is working awesome, but notice some lag in the animations, wich werent present in fp1! any tips?

there is nothing wroung in fp2 new firmware,guys iam master in software,u just try and take sm time on new funtions in fp2,its much better then last firmware,only in camera no option of exit available otherwise every thing is in new firmware wait and try to understand by take time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
