I've had many experiences of shooting with different smartphones. In my experience, none of the so called flagships impressed me as much as the Nokia 808 PureView and Nokia N8 in terms of still photography. I am not talking about video recording capabilities. I don't have these two phones anymore. Talking about the 808, the photos captured by it had plenty of details, negligible noise, natural colour profile in default mode unlike today's smartphones which boosts saturation, contrast, exposure and sharpen the image post processing which might please some people. I know RAW option is available these days on most smartphones but I don't need the huge size of the file produced. Nokia figured out the way to smartly use the 41 MP Module to zoom on the 808, you had more zoom at less megapixels without the demerits of digital zoom, oversampling, pureview mode etc much ahead of the competition. The Xenon flash on both the Nokias helped to freeze the shot and rendered human skin in its original colour with great detail in low light conditions. LED flash is straightforwardly garbage Nokia 808 remains the only phone (Not considering anything above 14mm thick as a phone) with a big sensor at 1/1.2" and the Nokia N8 being one of the very few phones with big sensor. Sure, these days we have AI, Advanced HDR, Computational Photography (add some more hyped words) etc on smartphones but the ability to render a scene in its original form with greater details, natural colours, laid back approach defeats them all. Nokia 808 was the last best of camera phones and I miss it very much. I believe getting the work done using less resources or only the necessary resources so as not to waste more than what's needed. Symbian, as an OS, didn't need an Octa Core CPU to support the 41 MP Camera few years back and it was absolutely fine with what it did offer at that time. If the tech was further innovated, even as a secondary functionary, it would have been much better than what we are left with these days. It's time for me to bid farewell to the legend. I'll probably get a cheap 200 dollar Android phone for basic needs and a separate DSLR to further pursue my interest in photography. Thanks Nokia and all the brains behind the Nokia 808 & N8. You'll know what I'm about if you ever held a Nokia 808 in your hand.

I bought the phone as new in 2012 and been using it ever since. I have an android as my primary phone, but the camera lens is curved and sensor is small. This android phone (samsung s7) has better dxomark rating than my nokia 808 which is pure joke. It not even close to nokia. S7 has HDR, panorama etc. and it's fast. But that's it. If you take a picture indoor, for instance picture of a window, you can clearly see how perfectly straight window frame is curven on your monitor screen :) If you make video with S7 in panoramatic style (you turn aroud), the result video is uncomportable to watch. Its has the same effect as turing around in google maps street view. But not with nokia 808. The image is clear, undistorted and trully believeble. Even when you playback a video, you can feel yourself beeing there, on the spot where the video was filmed. A true camera phone.

This is an amazing camera phone ! even now i am using Huawei P20 pro as my primary phone , i still need Nokia 808 as my secondary one . Its close up mode is super . . I never capture photo by 41MP mode , i always use creative mode (C1 , 8MP pure view) instead. It can make best picture in bright light place, its picture looks so nice : real color :) Love U , Nokia

when this phone was introduced i really liked it because of the camera and the design but i didnt have money for it. i have money now but its outdated. if nokia ever decides to bring back a new updated 808 with the same design i would go for it

You're trying to use the highest resolution in that small (for that resolution) sensor, while you're saying RAW is useless? If i were you, i would squeeze the resolution of the image as possible, without reducing the detail, all in RAW images so i could grade it without problem later. Heck, still i hope a reborn of this smartphone as an Android flagship, so we could install Google Camera in it and experience the glorious HDR+ on a 1/1.2" sensor. . .

After using my delight 808 for last 5yrs, now my original battery 🔋 has swollen but battery performance is good enough. Then I searched for compatible 🔋 online then find in maxbhee store. After 4 days today it's arrived perfectly suited... ThanQ. Now I trusted maxbhee am going to order back panel also.

BEST CAMERA-PHONE TILL TODAY [2018] I managed to develop such workflow, from which i can easily achieve crispy clear 3000x2000 files, without any noise. Of course only in daylight. Despite the fact, that camera uses FSI sensor it is the biggest till today [2018], even bigger, then in shiny new Huawei P20. I am in a bit high mood, so I even can share the whole process with all of you. -1) convert image to 16bit mode 0) Crop extreme borders to throw away blurry corners 1) Apply delicate noise reduction 2) Resize with sharpening to 3000x2000 3) 2-nd pass noise reduction 4) Apply contrast curve 5) Do color processing 6) Apply selective sharpening 7) Ta-da! Such processing easily outflank cheap image computing from any “modern” device. Mobile algorithms are optimized for power consumption, so they are not precise, as desktop ones. So dump your iPhoneX, Google P2 to garbage bin. One more thing, I use hacked camera app with increased effective resolution from 38 to 41.5 mpix. Maximum file size 35Mb. The beauty of N808 is that it provides images in whopping resolution and there is ability to substantially increase output quality. So files are ready for processing. Raw is not needed. What’s the point of it? If you have barely visible sensor. Here is sample link for your enjoyment. Some random pix from goldie N808. First 30 pix or so. Full sized images available. From above mentioned statements I could approximate, that P20 will have nearly N808 quality or maybe the same, but definitely not significantly better. So, guys, 2012 tech is still on the top. Believe it or not. Enjoy computing.

when you play any song there is option to play via radio. If its not there then you can try factory resetting, if it dosent work then you can try delight 1.5 Make sure to take backup first.

Couldn't be more agree with you. It would be a real blast in this current global market. HMD's current handset seems nothing special even Zeiss name is on it. 808 Pureview with F1.6, OIS, 5" Amoled with black glass, quad led and zenon flash, removable battery and MIL-std, Android 8.0/ sailfish OS. Keep the phone thickness around 10mm. Well, with this all in works...Nokia shall rule the photography phone again.

Nokia should release a phone with the same camera as on the Nokia 808 PureView with Professional Mode, OIS and 12 MP PureView Mode alonside 8 MP & 5 MP PureView Mode without messing with the image processing algorithms the way they did with Lumia 1020 which produced warmer pics with yellow tint. I like the natural processing of Nokia as it allows for more flexible post processing.. I had the Nokia N8, small bro of Nokia 808 PureView and it took really great pics during its time.

The plugs are different. I have a pair of iPhone headphones and they don't work properly with my N8. But they work normally on my Galaxy. However, I bought a headphones extension cable from eBay with just 3 regular contacts on the plug, no microphone contact, and they work (at least for listening to music). Plugs have different standards, and if you just want to listen to music I recommend original Nokia earphones, or a regular set with no microphone or remote control function.

Just do not plug your headphones all the way in (only 2/3 the length of the plug) and you should be fine. It has to be mic incompatibility or something like that.

Hello, If you are referring to a headset then you can search it on ebay, (original and compatible). But you can also use any headphone (without mic) with it, it sounds really good.

Oh please, if you don't own that phone then you'll never know. Sammy S8 has just recently beaten 808 screen contrast ratio. After 5 years. And 808's s low light 8MP photos can take on any latest flagship phones, no comment about day light 38MP photos. Why choosing dual lens setup with one "tele" ~58mm equivalent focal length when you can make a 41(38)MP shot and then crop it? Furthermore 808's dual mic, capable of recording loud 140dB sounds, is still one of the best, if not the best, around. This phone is truly a technological wonder, a true monument of Nokia engineering.

I think the online server serving the Symbian handsets is off now.... So, the physical hardware on Whatsapp's end won't be there, so I don't think it will work. Sadly so. It can perfectly replace a p&s camera. The level of detail at 8 mp is better than most of the compact cameras, even 16mp cameras. 5mp images are just "perfect". And you can shoot at 5 mp in high ISO with no worry due the thechnology of pureview. (38 mp at high ISO are awful) BUT: - dynamic range is not very good - white balance normally fails, and many shots need to be post processed in order to obtain the right colours. 808 is not perfect, but is close to be ;)

Yes, it can replace any p&s camera easily. Provided u can still get one at this point of time. Do try out the shooting behaviours and photo quality that u like with those manual and auto settings. Daylight works perfectly fine. Dawn or night shots may needs some twists. But if you are r fine with flash then it is much more better than those LED flash. U will notice the digital noise is much lesser and more natural in old fashion. Voilà

Serious camera question regarding PV808: I am an aspiring amateur photo nerd geek boy. I like having a small compact camera to go when I´m out snapping about. I also have a bigger dslr if I travel far or really need image quality or lowlight performance. My question for you 808 users: Could I have a PV808 as my replacement compact camera? My last compact was a Sony TX100v. These days it doesn´t seem to be that big a difference between compacts and smartphones (hence if you dont go for a RX100 or likewise). What I like about the 808 idea is that 1) It is unobtrusive and good for candid snaps and 2) It has some editing capabilities (that most compact digis miss out on). All comments appriciated =)

Whatsapp still usable until 30/06/2017. Hopefully they extend it otherwise it is left with Wechat for messenger service only. Anyway, 808 is still a pro camera phone after 5yrs in the market. Nokia shall redevelop this 808. Especially their specialty in removable battery phone feature. No one will ever blame Nokia to have this kind of phone back. Hope they saw my post here. Nokia, your poly-carbonate phone is still king in mobile technology.

Itz daylight shooting is astounding, low light shooting is as good provided u got a good steady hand w/o shaking. I have a Huawei P10, it's low light is good but too much processing caused a lot of digital noise.

Finally found something useful for photo sharing to Facebook with ShareBoard. U can upload your photo with sentences u like before sharing. Unlike original 808 photosharing without any typing ability. Just download it from "applist". U can find the forum or info from "all about symbian".

It is still a brilliant phone despite the old OS. One can still use WeChat for messenger services. The only down side is is facebook feature. Wonder anyone manage to install facebook apps in 808?

To AADRIAN: I miss that feature. I use to use it quite often to charm ladies especially at nights. I have used it with Nokia S40 and Nokia S60. I have a Galaxy S5 now and I wish it was able to play songs while on a call. The good old days. If Nokia could implement that in their Android offerings I will surely consider going back to Nokia. Nokia was the only phone for me before Microsoft took over.

While playing any song or video there is option of play via radio or FM transmitter FM transmitter is there by default in stock 808. Try resetting phone and FM transmitter will be back. If it dosent work go and flash delight 1.5

I'am in a Vietnamese 808 group (ofc people from other countries can join too). Its members post their 808/1020/other mobile's photos and sell/exchange their phones there. Too bad most of them don't provide international shipping- they often sell/exchange it to other people living in the same city but indeed you can ask them for details. Prices are very pleasant- up to 160$ for a fullbox 808 in mint condiction.

I already got one. I use my dSLR with Tamron 70-300 VC mainly for plane spotting so I have no specialized portrait/ landscape lens besides kit 18-55 lens. In such role Nokia 808 beat my entry-level camera with kit lens with ease. I'am also in a Nokia 808 group on FB- you can take part if you want :)

I just bought a 2nd hand 808 in Malaysia. The one from Russia never make it to land. The phone is in mint condition. I have tried using and tweaking the camera setting since early Jan 2017. The result of printing a 8RW photo @ 5mp is absolutely worry free. Color crisp and no pixel burst. The pureview result is stunning. One shall try creative mode if u r using indoor. I had used ISO 800, vivid, contrast 1 n 2, flash off, room condition day time with lights being lit up. Perfect result achieved. Will definitely keep the phone in many years to come. I have an 8R photo shot with Nikon compact camera by uncle. Quality? Unmatched... Grab one if u have a chance.

Swell camera - I've used it for professional Web work. (Lightroom haze filter is marvelous for clearing up the 808 camera's flare.) A strange thing: no matter what provider's SIM card I use, the 808 always checks voicemail at start-up then asks if I want to listen or exit. If I choose Listen, it tries to call *86 and then says "The number you have dialed is not in service." Do other 808 users experience this? Is it a "feature" of the Alcatel (Mexico) provider that originally sold the phone? Should I install the open source Symbian?

I'm using Nokia 808 I bought 2016 with delight app. Camera is incredible quality, but slow. Video camera zoom is still just wow! Its also great for navigation in woods and other really fancy stuff, like radio transmitter. You have also offline navigation with offline maps (not new version, but still viable). Phone stays on, like forever, in nowadays standard & with moderate use! It is superb camera, phone, music player (without spotify), navigator, hotspot etc. etc. but not for user who likes to surf web or hang on in social media, for sure.

Man it has best flash for mobiles. ( No mobile except N82 has such bright flash) the camera takes very good night shots actually but you do need to use the settings for best results eg adjusting the iso etc, when to use the flash and when not to.

There is no phone in market yet which can beat 808 in photography (Especially at low light or night). I have seen high end, costly android phones of my friends having 13/16 MP camera still cant beat 808 for camera. So you can use this phone for photography, basic calls, SMSs, limited web surfing which is enough for them who dont want to be online and updated for 24X7 Juse delight 1.5 and phone works like charm. Just purchase a low budget andriod for whatsapp and web surfing.

I use delight firmware. The phone is smooth like a charm. Opening apps is as smooth as a Galaxy s5 or an Iphone 5. Also viewing pictures, or reading some documents is really fluent for a 4 years old phone. What is not smooth is surfing the Internet, Sometimes I want to throw the phone throwgh the window due the bad speed and many pages that don't charge properly or simply don't charge. I don't like using it as my main phone because of the high SAR. (And because I want it to last may years). I use it as my third phone (n900 is my secondary), for the camera, music player (prefer the n900's), voice recording (Awesome!), GPS... I use a nokia n86 as my main phone. More comfortable to use and does most of the things a 808 does. And if is just for the camera... sometimes I prefer the n8's camera. Specially for landscape photography. And N8 is smaller and lighter than the 808 but has not a LED torch...

Is it smooth or laggy? Are you using the custom delight firmware? I'd like to use the phone for basic phone calls and of course photography! ok. some application that you have installed might be causing this problem You can try these things 1. Change SIM card and memory card you using. Not sure but this works sometime. 2. Do factory reset from settings options, check if it solvs problem or not 3. Then try hard resetting ( Check on google how to hard reset 808) 4. Still if problem persists, reflash the device again. Make sure to TAKE BACKUP OF CONTACTS and other stuff before trying.

I open Menu. Later open Settings icon in Tools. Now which ever option I select, for eg. Profiles, Themes , Phone, Installations etc. it won't respond! It will automatically be closed. Had that happen twice over the 4 years I"ve owned my Nokia 808. Once, the card was an older slower card and it never worked correctly I replaced it. The second time it was a newer and much faster card and I had to reformat it in the phone and it worked great from there on. My advice is us a newer, faster card, and format it in the phone before use. Hope this helps.

I am using 64 GB Sandisk white grey microSD (59.4 GB usable and 21.4 GB available free space) in 808 pureview. When I choose the camera storage to memory card, the pictures are getting stored. But when I take video at any resolution, it appears to be recording. But when I play the video from the camera screen itself (just tried to play after pressing stop button), I am unable to play the video and the video has not been actually recorded to the memory card slot after seeing the DCIM \ 100NOKIA folder. This is not the case with mass memory. Please help me.

Hello, I purchased on in Dec 22 from Breed (whom are very nice Vendor), on Amazon, and I was in the Caribbean, so it came with courier. I used it with WiFi, and got back to the USA on Feb 18, on Feb 17, I went online and turn on my Data with T Mobile, as I was going to add my USA SIM when I arrive. I am tired of taking off the battery, and have no idea what to do. Amazon said 30 days have passed, I never had one chance to use data, and now the phone is full time frozen, no matter how much you take the battery off. I Loved this phone from 2012, and still do, now I was able to afford it, I can't enjoy it? Any ideas PLEASE! I will be grateful... The Phone is so new, I hardly keep it with me, only on a soft microfibre cloth by my PC.

I am also using 808 as the tertiary phone after Nokia N8 and LG G3. But the SAR rating of 808 is very high !!!. G4 does not have the option to set the resolution (2 MP, 5 MP, 8 MP, 9 MP wide, 12 MP, 640x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080 etc). G3 itself sucks in terms of battery backup. Then think of G4 !!!!.

Nokia 808PV is a very nice camera phone, it is durable ( Solid build), its battery is removeable, Voice quality is very good. I use this phone because of its camera ! But we should learn it properly to know how to make picture in low light and high light place. Generally I did not use full resolution mode because the photos size is too big. I use pure view mode 8 MP instead. This phone is better than Nokia N8. I wait for a new Nokia Camera Phone but I do not hear any news from Nokia. My secondary phone is LG G4, it is also an up to date camera phone .

The sollution is to use another format than FAT32 on your SD card and save it there. It is a filesystem problem that is built in to all older microsoft filesystems except NTFS.

still a very good phone - camera combo. very dependable although has some issues with the software. other than that, picture quality is still topnotch even when compared with much newer models. (but you have too see the pictures in the other models to appreciate as screen quality is not that good.) battery life has never changed (yet) since the very day i bought it which was around 3 1/2 years ago.

Am still using this phone since 2012. Recently along with it I used galaxy s5 , mi4, moto g3 I changed these mobiles one by one among these no Mobile satisfied me in camera deportment. Even in mid night with my 808 when I capture sky it's looks like exactly what my eye saw, with simple changes in iso it captures like mid day sky . I love my 808 am proud . Good news, thanks bro. At the present i still use Nokia 808 as my primary phone and Samsung Galaxy Tab S is my secondary device. Nokia 808 is a very good Camera Phone if we know how to make photos properly..especially in low light place.. It is solid build also ( i dropped it one time on the floor incidentally but no problem at all). Its best for calling too , there is no voice leaking , sound is very clear ect. .

Nokia launched 808 in 2012 and still it is the best camera phone, cant even compare with today's high end camera phones. i still use it as my primary and only phone and i totally agree there is no other OS as efficient as symbian. With such mediocre specs, its still so fast and smooth. The only downside is lack of apps but then no other phone provides a camera like this, not even half as gud..music experience is unparalleled and so are maps and ease of use of the device. And since I installed the delight OS..love my phone even more !

Currently using my 808 as my daily driver instead of ny Lumia 930. The smaller screen makes typing a bit more difficult but this phone still offers all I need. But a downside is that I can only have 1 email inbox on the original mail app. I can install a second email account only if I delete the other account. So that doesn't bring me any further. When installing an email account sit only gives the option of exchange instead of separate options as yahoo, outlook/hotmail or gmail. And when you choose exchange it's only possible to set up 1 email account. A bit annoying.

Not even the last batch of Nokia flagship 930 and the new microsoft flagship phone 950XL both with only 20 MP. I enjoyed it so much although it's a little bit heavy on my pocket, no need to carry another camera just to take good photos. GPS really works well even without internet. The phone is fantastic I have all 3 of Nokia touch camera phones - N8, 808, Lumia 1020. the 808 is very easy in use and the screen is great, although it hasn't a high ppi, the colours just pop out of the screen. Basically this phone gives you all you need even now it's already considered an old phone. My advice is to buy yourself a present, and make yourself happy with the 808 PV.

My experience : to get best picture i use to make photo from 6:30am to 8:30am or 4:30pm till 5:30pm (time in my country), the important point is : we know how to make photo. Before i used nokia n8 almost one year . .but n808 is better and it is much better if Nokia upgrade it :) I dropped it one time on the floor , fortunately it was no problem (even screen was ok too) Thanks Nokia for your solid Camera Phone. you have to reinstall the original firmware. I had the same problem. then I have reinstalled the updated version of the firmware and problem solved. I have got lots of new options also. This problem occurs due to malfunctioning of any application at the time of installation or uninstallation . for restarting problem, if your 808 is from early batch(initial phones when it was released ) &if u use 3.5g. Then try this solution go to setting -connectivity -admin - mobile data- high speed packet access. Then disabl this setting ( this setting appears only if u on 3g network ) it will reduce ur 3g speed but restarting will be gone

For 8MP Images (I have set this to C1) In Creative mode set: Sensor Mode: Pureview Resolution: 8MP Aspect ratio: 4:3 JPEG quality: Superfine Colour tones: Vivid Capture mode : Normal Saturation: 0 Contrast: 0 Sharpness: +4 Flash: Red Eye Reduction Exposure: Auto Colour Balance: Auto ISO: Auto ND Filter: Auto For 38MP Images (I have set this to C2) In Creative mode set: Sensor Mode: Full resolution Aspect ratio: 4:3 JPEG quality: Superfine Colour tones: Vivid Capture mode : Normal Saturation: 0 Contrast: 0 Sharpness: +5 Flash: Red Eye Reduction Exposure: Auto Colour Balance: Auto ISO: Auto ND Filter: Auto Hope this helps! These settings work in all conditions, rarely do I feel the need to change something. The OOC (straight out of camera) images are very pleasing with these settings (can easily beat the artificial details, oversharpened mess the new phones put out) and do not require any additional post processing.

I was using nokia n8, it was so good but now I am using N808.. .it is better than n8 , its battery is removeable, its picture quality is awesome, battery is good but at the moment I use mugen battery, it is little bit more heavy but it can last double time. . The voice quality is also very good. This camera phone has many options by making photos, generally I use pure view mode 8MP for shooting pictures.. besides it has torch, Notes and big analog clock ect... so nice. :}

The most remarkable phone no-one wanted to buy. I got this phone cheap, less than 300$ a year after launch. So maybe the goodwill succeeding that bargain forced me to look at it with a lot more love than the average consumer. First the pros, there isnt a single phone camera, maybe except the iPhone 6 Plus with the advantage of BSI and OIS, that offers anything close to the noiseless, vibrant images(better than most 200-300$ point n shoots arguably). The screen is lovely, colourful, offers deep blacks and has an LCD like white, very refreshing from the yellow tinted AMOLED my current driver Moto X provides. Symbian, even with all its kinks is as fast as it can be on a 512MB RAM single core phone, and daily operation is quite smooth. The sunlight legibility is fantastic, puts most androids to shame. Another aspect worth mentioning is its rich recording, I've frequently taken this to concerts, and even recorded friends singing. And the output never fails to amaze people around me. The loudspeaker is also quite decent, although not close to HTC's stereo ones. The battery life is also fantastic(obviously so). The main flaws - Symbian is difficult to be a daily driver. Lack of apps(much more so in 2015), an average keyboard, the fluidity of touch and animations being incomparable to modern smartphones and the fact that Opera Mini is probably the only usable browser on it. But even with all its flaws, it is a wonderful, spunky phone with a loving community of fans and users who are doing all they can to ensure this phone is relevant even after 3 years of launch. The phone also manages to garner quite a lot of attention wherever it is taken, and will always be a source of pride for me. This phone stands for everything Nokia in my opinion. Innovative, unrivalled features with an utter lack of understanding of what attracts consumers in the post-iPhone era, a self admitted niche device. The most remarkable phone that no-one wanted.

This the best phone ever had, although it has weaknesses specially in internet browsing and social networking apps but it's ok because i only use whatsapp and works great. i really love the camera & built.My wife owned Galaxy Kzoom but no match with image quality.kzoom is better in OS,Speed,internet and zooming only. I did not try to use 128 GB SD card, because i didn't keep the pictures in n808 galery. I always transfer all the photos to Tablet . N808 is a very good camera phone. Its voice quality is very good, its battery is good too. Surfing internet is OK ! but it doesn't suppport multi lingual like android phone. Anyway i like this phone because of Camera ! After checking from Youtube i know how to use different shooting modes while capturing photos or videos. Its camera quality is awesome ! So i still keep it for everyday use. This is Nokia :)

Nice camera phone. It is always make me happy by doing (shooting) pictures. Today i need to do a picture for sending to friend. It is a Ballroom plan ( its about A3 Size). First time i did pictures by Camscanner with my Samsung GS tablet but my picture is not very clear because some letter & image in the plan are too small. Second time i did it again with Nokia 808 (using Close-up mode) , but it was still not successful (only 80%), Third time i did it with Full Resolution Mode (~ 38 MP) Result: Success !! So i can send it to my friend by email and printed one copy for myself :) One thumb up Nokia !!!

I really want to flash to delight 1,5 but i am afraid of the camera. At the moment i did not face any problem with it. .sometime in the low light place i try to change ISO mode from automatic to number 400 or 800 (without using flash), on the other hand this camera phone supports whatsapp , email and viber. .though it cannot compare with the up to date smart phone . .but its voice quality ( no voice leakage at all), its camera are awesome. I did not keep the images in n808 gallery but i keep it in my tablet instead. N808 has Flashlight, NFC ect. .its size is not too big ..can keep it in pocket as well. I really like it for everyday use (transfer contact via blutooth or sms), calling , using Note , big analog clock . . ). I still pratice to shoot pictures with n808 by using different mode :)

I used to have galery hang problems on my 808 when using stock firmware (original software from Nokia). But when I flashed my 808 with Delight the gallery hang never happen again. And with delight cfw my 808 is definitely faster on every single things. Why we're still using the stockfirmware from Nokia when there is Delight cfw. Don't hesitate, go for it Buddy...! I have 3 Symbian phones right now 808, N8, and E71. They're classics and valuable collections. None of them are for sale.

Hi abc, i am not an IT but i suggest you to do Factory Reset first. I use n808 too . .i did not store pictures in Galery . .as its display not big enough for me. .i transfer (via bluetooth) all photos to tablet. One more point whether you install many apps or store lots of photos ? you know : if u use Full Resolution Mode every time : your shooting pictures are very large (eg: one image ~ 1.3 MP).

Bro, yes of course . .you can use Mugen battery for Nokia 808 instead of its original battery. I use it for few months with no problem at all, but it is more heavy than the original one. Anyway it can last two or triple time longer than normal. . It is not cheap, .you can find it by online ( mugen battery.com). .buying mugen battery you will get one special back cover. . . Before i used nokia n8 but now i am using n808 . .it is an awesome camera phone. We can learn how to do pictures properly by watching Youtube. .they explain / let us know how to use it in different mode. :) Thanks Nokia :)

Some or most of the other smart phone ( esp. Android phne) has Camscanner that allow me to make photos such as Name card /Flower ect. . but nokia n8 & n808 has Close Up option that is usefull for doing photo like this. On my N8 I usually turn the Xenon flash "on" in such situations and get totally acceptable photos, the flash brightens the faces while the background stays normal. Is there a portrait setting on the 808 that could take care of this? Or simply switch the flash to "always on"? Most phones will have the same problem with tricky light because of lower dynamic range and I don't know of a better solution.

Hi bro, it is not easy to find this camera phone at the present. Its internet speed is good , battery is medium , not bad but not very good, fortunately I bought secondhand one , they gave me Mugen power battery 3000mAh that I can use double time longer than original battery. Before I used nokia N8 but N808 is better because its battery is removeable, picture clarity is also very good ( can be compared with the up to date smart/ high end phone) especially we we use pure view mode by shooting. Symbian OS is unique , I like it. I would like to recommend this camera phone to whom, who wants to do pictures and calling.

In camera setting menu we can activate camera in lock screen. Me , myself i did not try camera pro yet , i think it is not very important for me. I just learned from the review of nokia 808, and practise to make photos so many times in bright & low light. There are two main modes to make photos. .i still dont understand it properly. Anyway , i am satisfied by using N808 . Its voice clarity is very good ( also handfree), battery is medium , making photo : awesome. I did not use internet with this camera phone , use tablet instead. Nokia Belle is so nice ( but it doesn' t support multi lingual like Android OS) .. whatever it is unique. I like it :)

It has good voice quality , battery does not last long time but not bad :) it runs by nokia belle os , that's also good but this camera phone does not support multi- lingual . For me: i use it for calling and shooting picture only . .i like its size too . In comparison with digital camera i dont have idea yet. .bec. it depends on the camera quality and skill. . Thanks for your advice. After shooting pictures many time i know something about it. .so in the creative mode : i use C1 (Custom settings) and 8 MP (Pure view sensor mode) very often. That's mean i wil not use (Full resolution sensor mode), because the picture is too large ( ~10 to 13 MP) and the beauty is almost the same. . Sometime i need use zoom in , so i prefere to use C3 2MP or C2 5MP. I think that Nokia 808 is a smart camera phone also ( my opinion).

Hi friend, yes of course i have little experience about camera and its sensors. .i am still using nokia N8 too. .i have compared its pictures with Samsung Galaxy S4 ( i have transfered photos to my 10.1" tablet ). The result : N8 pictures are better than GS S4 esp. in low light place. Now the technology is update/ upgrade everyday , so Nokia N8 cannot compared with the up to date camera phones such as Lumia 1020, iphone 5 or 5s , GSnote 4 or GS S5 ect. . however the latest cameraphone is more expensive than N8. Talking about Nokia 808 : as i dont have phone manual book : i do the pictures by pratique more than theorie. In low light place its pictures quality are awesome in comparison with Nokia N8 . I did not use full resolution mode often but i do with pure view mode instead ( 8 MP), So sorry to say that my english is not so good . . and of course every smart/ camera phone have pros & cons. .that is why i would like to share my experience with N808's users. Nokia N808 is a very good one (m experience), it has many good points that i want : NFC, Clear black display, Nokia Belle OS, Cameram. Xenon and LED flash , Voice & Build quality ect. . What i dont like is: not up to date OS :( but its ok because i use tablet instead. . N808 : for dialling/ receiving call and for making photos. I always transfered its pictures to tablet bec. its good for sharing/ editing . . From Nokia lover.

Dear all Nokia 808's user, i just bought N.808 , but don't know how to use it properly especially shooting pictures ! There are two mode by making photos : Pure view mode and Full resolution mode. In the camera setting menu show : C1-C2 and C3 , because i dit not have manual book. . so i cannot understand how to make pictures in Low light place or outside ( bright place) properly. When i show clicked pictures on 808 on the device to my friends they are not blown away, coz the screen doesnt do the camera justice, while any samsung android user when clicks picture no matter how small the samsung phone people are blown away because of the screens. Plus people the DSLR are better than 808. Also If you want people to be blown away and you insist nokia buy a nokia 700 or c6-01 coz 229 ppi in 3.2 inch blows people....also nokia 701 screen is very impressive coz its IPS better than the one on a nokia 603. People are blown away with ips too.

My experience with symbian devices: I have owned nokia c6-01 2 of them, n8, 808, e7. Well when i want to use a phone i want to feel excited. Nokia 808 is a brick in your pocket its heavy, Nokia N8 has edgee corners like a brick. Nokia 808 is better than N8 coz round shape. Similarly Nokia c6-01 is round while e7 is edgee corners, I prefer c6-01 and 808 not e7 or n8. plus screen size. nokia n8 3.5 not good, E7 and 808 have 4 inch screen, Also mhz and ram rom matter N8 e7 c6-01 all have lesser ghz lesser ram, lesser rom Hence 808 winner when it comes to using but feel is good in c6-01. Although you must know - try using Samsung grand 5 inch screens nokia fails great deal ! Samsung are winning nowadays, my sis galaxy grand 8mp camera is better than nokia 808 41 mp coz of the sensors !

One more point : nokia n8 is very solid. .with its Xenon flash you can shot the pictures in dark place without problem. Calling, Browsing internet is OK (nokia n8), It is smaller than n808,.Both camera phone has good battery, but nokia n8 battery is non-removeable.

hi bro, no need to be urgent. pls check the price first.. there are lots of good camera phones at the moment such as lumia 1020, nokia n8, nokia 808 , samsung galaxy note 3 or S5 . the latest smart phone has 4G LTE , water and dust resistant and very good camera too. But if you can purchase it in reasonable price, i suggest you to go for nokia 808.

It doesn't matter what os the device uses in regarding functionality, however the firmware specifically the pureview camera system was not compatable with Windows os at the time of original release. Android was not an option, since Nokia never had a saleable Android handset.

i will never ever buy phones from nokia.. I'm just using it for taking pictures. Now i have to plug in my phone to my laptop to upload photos. I really feel bad that we're clueless if this is going to be fixed! We were taken by surprise! And all those photos we've uploaded just disappeared in an instant! Very disappointed. Maybe it is not the bitrate with the problem. Maybe is the format you use, can also be a defective coding of videos. Also, mind that n8 does not play all flash videos on it,s browser, if it is the case.

Try to boot it up with another sim, if doesn't work, take out the memory card (if you have one) and do another boot. If it's not the case, hmm, try resseting it or delete some newly installed programs, if their are any. Stll doesn't work? Could be the Simtrey deffect. Hmm, that will be sh7t. As for changing it. Hm, they will never change my device, and to give it to replace the battery, i just won't do it. I have a rule: Once it's opened, will never be the device you bought:). What u said is right.. My 5800,N8,N9,701 & 808 provided very good battery backup than anything I used.. Carol I have a issue with my N8.. Nowadays when I boot it with a sim card inserted,it just shuts off once reaching Nokia boot animation.. Without a sim it boots in perfectly and can use the device. What is the reason for this?

I just taled you, i revert it to windows 8 before update. I couldnt update with developer p. Anyway, so i was forced to go back to wp8. Anyways, im starting to think of selling it and buy another wp with way more battery. I just can,t stand this. Smartphones this days can be called dumbphones. What can i do with so many things if the only way to use them is to keep my phone pluged to electrical sorce. Just thinking about android....pathetic. If there is no smartphone with good 3 days battery backup, i'll just gice up smartphones. Anyway, since the kill if symbian all i van see is wannabe systems and nothing more.

Did u revert Your device back to Windows 8 with recovery tool? If not better do it and install 8.1 update.. then u see how the device performs.. Battery backup of windows phone with IPS LCD are higher than those of LED..

Hey, thanks for answering. Yeah, i kill almost every background app this was the first thing i look in this system to do. Yeah, symbian freaq, what can i say, we need to close everything:)). As for the reset. It was on developers preview, so i needed to reinstall 8 with nokia tool. Now, my phone was already reseted. And everythin in it, is 2 weeks old. Still, nothing i can brag about. I did calibration, but not to much helpfull for me, even worse, it seems is even crappier:))).

Hey man, hallo my brothers. Yeah, we have to do something for us bbm? I like it cause is secure, verry secure. As for the 1020, i have a question, just to be sure if i take it back or not. Battery, bleah:))). Help, one day for me is heaven so, can you confirm if yours is the same? The only time is not draining like crazy is when i'm not using it. Using it is like this:20% drain per hour when surfing or just zapping through menu and store. More then 30% when playing some useless caregames or something (while my n8 was eating 20%). Camera, meah, drains battery like there is no tomorow. 2% per minute. So, does anyone have the same? Ex. When i started writing here i had 99% now i have 94% in just 5 or 6 minutes. I hate i could not buy 808 but then againg, i would have hated even more if i had so many services stopped. Uh, hate you Microsoft right now. Ps. I already dropped mine, on the councrete:(. Uploading photos in nokia social is crap, i like it better when it's uploaded via nokia 808! It's an app that they removed and they even deleted the photos that's already been uploaded. F! I uploaded more than a thousand of photos!! Lot's of shared moments with family and friends and suddenly they're al gone!!! That's a big crap of nokia and they're loosing customers! They are definitely going down¡ Windows phones are no good, limited features and less apps! I'm moving to sony and samsung!! There's no way for nokia phone sham!! Hey guys, long time no post. But, as i switched to Lumia i had less interest in Symbian, still i tried to watch what happens further. As we can all see, after being stab't, Symbian is slowly fading away, by force. A lot of stopped services and they will not stop here unfortunately, they will kill the last breath of it, the store, by the end of this year. So, with this said, i think it is safe to say, there is no more symbian in this life anymore. Owning a Lumia after N8 was a bit of a pain, but surprisingly did not last to much. wp8.1 kind of fills most important gaps between it and Symbian. There are still, but not crazy important. As i entered in this 'new world' as they say, i entered in terrible battery era. Even though it is windows phone using a 1020 for photographs and internet is limited to maximum one day, if not even less, like 12 hours. MAybe the new devices are better, like lumia 1520, but i won't buy this kind of huge devices. 930 is announced to be even worst then 1020. So, this is the new smartphone era. As for androids, well, is the same, so in this times, nobody can be happy with the battery or praise theirs, cause they...just lie. Yes my phone can last for days if i use it 10 min per day, but this is not the purpose of a smartphone, isn't it? Do, i recommend you to go for lumia? Hmm, yes and no, the quality of this devices has Nokia written all over, and with the new 8.1 is almost, almost perfect. But, who wants customization and loads of options, hmm, well, wp may not be the best in this area, oh well, not at all. There is no other but android for that. But don't forget though, wp is still growing and developing introducing new futures. As for android, if you decide to go for one, hit some htc m8, at least has some premium material into it, and has the same price as all galaxy cheap plastic devices. If not, there is lumia and ios. Hmm, i'd say lumia all the way. This i also posted on N8 forum, but all my friends are here. So guys, is it time to switch? Would i recommend you the 1020? Hmm, maybe not quite, but if this device has an upcoming brother, definetly go for that, you won'T regret it. Even though, you won't regret having 1020 if you are not that disturbed about it's battery life which can easily be categorized in android family. More then one day will happen if you are using it like a normal phone...

When I changed the OS I would be satisfied. On the Web. Mugu browser rare to see a video. Always prompts you to install Adobe Flash Player, which does not have Symbian. There is no Skype even has a front camera that serves no purpose. I apologize for my bad English.

do you ever hold an 808 against your eye ??? although its ppi is way down the display is quite good, if you ask a person who is not aware of 808's resolution he will definitely say a figure of above 300 seeing the display. its that good man, i have also a xperia z with me now and my previous phones were nokia e6,xperia u, xperia sp, lumia 520, samsung galaxy s4, htc desire u.and i kept 808 as my camera phone for last two years... i didn't felt any major difference between these displays except for s4. sorry for my bad english...

I agree with you, as this phone has best camera. But, its not best in terms of display because it has only 360*640 resolution with 4 inch display that results a thin pixel wearing of 184 ppi only. Nokia 808 is superb in every aspect but not in terms of display. If nokia could have done better than this resolution, unfortunately not done. If the resolution were 1280*720 this would have been resulted in 367 ppi density then the same photo shoot could give more clear and sharper visuality as nokia 1020 because it has a 1280*720 display resolution with same 41 mp sensor with an extra feature of Optical Image Stabilisation but this doesn't matter in still photography. This display lag restricted many of the buyers to purchase it.

yes i managed somehow to open phoenix after switching off the antivirus. but even after connecting my phone to pc the phoenix can not detect my phone. when i select product RM-807 after that nothing happens. at the bottom it shows "RM-807" then in next box it shows "no product" and in extreme right it shows "no connection". what do i do. you can also mail me the solution to [email protected]

So, does your device turn on? Cause i,ve read that it doesn,t. Or it was just cause of low battery. Anyway, i don,t remember good what was your problem, but from what i,ve read it is the sim card that has one. Have you tried with another sim card? Sometimes they also loose quality an become qiite useless, meaning they are dead. So you can also try doing that.

As far as i remember this is a phoneix that wasn,t cracked good or isn,t cracked at all. You cam try to download another one and install(uninstall the first and clean up it,s files). There could be some other problem like antivirus. Did you deactivated it while installing phoenix? I don, t know why but some pc,s need you to do that. You could try to reinstall it with antivirus off. Don,t use anything in internet in this period of instalation...

Symbian "as an OS" would be the best ever if 'Nokia' took care of it and kept developing and enhancing it instead of adopting Windows ecosystem, i can assert that it would be better than 'KitKat' at least. The agreement and combination between Nokia and Microsoft destroyed the nature of NOKIA, THE REAL NOKIA.. connecting people. as NOKIA 808 main disadvantage is design, button under screen is useless, they could expand screen size instead. The GPS is not provided with GLONASS. Video camera does not support HD, and secondary camera is VGA. Finally the internal storage is 16GB only, also Ram is 512MB only. Otherwise the phone is great.

I mean I never imagined that I'll handle a 41MP phone in my hand @ 2012, but dreaming has no limits, and thats Im writing this discussion and loved to share it with you right now What we need in the next Pureview camera phone from Nokia : ------------------------------------------------­--------------------------------------- 1- Bigger Sensor, Lumia managed the 1/1.5" BSI but I think that it will be very welcomed if Nokia gives us a 1/1.3" or 1./1.2" like Nokia 808 Pureview, I know that will result a bigger humb but I never mind it in the way we will get a better quality 2- ND filter, this peace of hardware was absolutely very useful for every one who used N8 and 808 Pureview, but we just missed it also for the size sake on the Lumia 1020, I think better waterfalls and night photos could be taken by the ND filter beside controlling the highlights in a better way 3- Better OIS...IOS 2nd generation which used in Lumia 1020 is very good indeed comparing to the digital stabilization found on Xperia phones or Galaxy phones, but this is more obvious in the stills, videos captured by Lumia 1020 is more stable than it's rivals but this depends on the user and situation...beside the edges becomes very sensitive to shakes even more than the 1st generation of the OIS which not based on ball berries, Is this cause of the mechanism of 2nd generation or this may be cause of bigger sensor?? - I don't know but any way OIS 3rd generation combined with digital processing will be needed for the next chapter on the Pureview legend book!! 4- Faster continuous auto focus for the video with better exposure processing...Exposure shifting isn't that good while moving around right and left with your Lumia and I really hope Nokia will put an end to this 5- Post processing controlling...now we starts to pull deep and deep, WP OS has some goodies but some restrictions also, and one of this restrictions is -How you built you camera app, -How you write your algorithms, till any level it will be effective as it should - How many number of features you can include in your camera app in Lumia 1020 case, we lost a lot of things related to the software part like: -Touch to focus during the video - ability to apply effects filters on the spot like B&W, Sepia...etc!! I've just flashed my 808 with Delight CFW 1.4, and I'm speechless... I'm so happy because Delight CFW is so amazing and awesome. My 808 is much smoother now. I feel like I'm having a quad cores phone in my hand. Definitely Delight CFW is a lot better than the original stock firmware. Delight solves many problems of the original stock firmware, like Galary hang, Lag, frequent phone reboot. It also fix many bugs and add many features. Delight CFW is a top notch and I don't regret flashing it. I highly recommend it to Symbian Users. Here's is the tutorial links how to flash Delight CFW with "Phoenix". If you decide to flash, read the tutorial instructions and do it carefully. Wish you a very happy and exiting days.

If you didn't get to far with customizing do a factory reset. dial *#7370# and follow all the instructions. This will take up to 10 minutes. After it should work. Live the card inside while doing it. Also, take a closer look before that and see if there is any damage caused to the SIM socket.

Hi Guys, I need some information. I have been considering to pick up a Nokia 808. I have been using Nokia devices since 6020, E61i, and most of the eseries devices. I also own a android phablet and a WM7.8 I hate android because its crappy even after rooting my android device its a PiDA (Pain in the Ass) loosing applications. And the only reason for considering the 808PV is because its the last of the Nokia's devices its more like a sentiment and hell yes for the camera and cmos sensor. I just wanted to know what the battery backup like if your using it as a normal phone and forgetting the fact it has a monster camera. 1400mAh how long does it last for medium to heavy users? And finally with lot of camera usage how badly does the battery drain out as well? I would really appreciate it if somebody can update me on the battery status of the 808PV. CHeers!

I use this phone to record band rehearsals (loud heavy metal). It has stereo recording capability that can record up to 140dBs without clipping. Unfortunately to my knowledge, it is the only phone in the market that can do this. I really don't use the camera and otherwise the phone isn't that great.

First think of the os! There's no support for the Belle os on 808 from Nokia! Sorry, there's no Nokia now! I suggest you to go for an Android phone! If you are fully aware of Windows, go for 1020. Don't go for 808. You had this review from my 808 !

I installed 8.1 too. Everything great. As usual nokia always rocks. I have used nokia 3530, 6600, 6880, N91, N82 and now Lumia 1020. Currently using Note 2 as well 1020. I use 1020 for calls and camera only and with battery server mode I can use it for more than 2 days (note wifi will be enable when the screen is on). And I use note 2 for to stay online 24/7 and emails and etc... Even those days Nokia release high end phone but there will be issue in the software and later they will release an update and the phone will become awesome. Same thing happening now too. So I never think twice to buy nokia phones and I am glad I bought 1020. I wanted to buy 808 but because of updates and current market I bought 1020. But I will buy 808 too for sure.

Hi all guys How are you all, hope you are so well, Any one saw the trolling happened by Dxomark, They set the Xperia Z2 as the best smartphone's camera over the 808 Pureview, This was totally a trolling and sh'ttest thing I've ever heard in the tech world....Z2 is better in terms of stabilization and faster autofocus, but over all quality is nothing comparing the Nokia 808 preview, I compared the Lumia 1020 to Z1 and I slaughtered it in the quality so hard, so imagine the 808 Pureview...putting in mind that the Xperia Z1 and Z2 shares the same camera hardware exactly...with just slightly improvements for the software of the Z2...imagine 808 with its once in life time camera vs the xperia Z2....Really can't imagine that DXomark did such horrible mistake Nokia 808 Pureview FTW!!!

From what I read, the majority of Symbian users/moders said that Delight CFW (now v1.3)is better than the original Stock firmware from Nokia. If you know how to mod/cfw, I suggest you to go for the lattest Delight CFW v1.3. Delight CFW v1.3 now out for the Nokia 808. Try it, you'll love it.

I've used 808 since 2012 Sept. Still in love with the camera (love the oversampled 8MP image so much). Cause of the camera I m still using it as my primary phone and a dual sim mid-range android as my secondary phone(i like to take picture more than gaming, secondary mid-range android for LINE, WeChat, checking emails, or may be some light game like tower defense, minion). But sometimes got frustrated while it hang or reboot once i switched on the camera. Plan to switch to 1020 but it's so expensive in Malaysia here. Btw i am still using the stock symbian, is it safe to hack my 808? Does it solve the lag problem and increase performance? thanks.

dont recommend any card over 32Gb.had a lot of problem with my 64Gb class 10 card when It was moore than 32Gb on It.same problem with the card fat32 or exFat formatted.

If it works does not mean is supported, even if it can read your 64 gb csrd you will grt allot of errors reading it after fealing it. I don't know how your device runns with that card but i'm preety much sure is not even half full. So why 128? I will highly not recomendig it, but that's your choice!

Hmmm, some of those are icons, some are resources. For example, on the drop down menu those switches are resources so they don't change. I'm not sure about the exact names for all elements. I think individual contacts icons show after a reboot, at least it's like that on my N8. As for others, yes, TGS doesn't change them all, sometimes you have to find the icon in the source theme, extract it, and load it to target theme with the same UID - some have Major and Minor ID and both have to be entered correctly (right click on source and "Edit" to see them). To change most important resources, those that look like Fascinate icons, open the theme, click on skn, Resources tab, and start typing the resource name. You can extract General Error, Information, Confirmation, Query, Warning. Same things are there with small letters too so extract those too (error, information...). Just right-click and "Extract". Then, you need Battery Not Charging/Low/Full/Charging/Recharge Battery. If they are animated they consist of multiple images, and you need to note the transition time (click Edit and write down the time for each icon and if it's Play, Cycle or Bounce - most are Cycle). Then open the target theme. Skn, Resources tab, Add resource. Start typing "General w" and you'll get General Warning and General warning, add the icons you extracted. Add the first icon. When it's saved, click on Edit and add new frame, plus the time you wrote down for each frame. I know it sounds complicated but I hope you'll manage. It just takes a little time and practice. thanks for your reply... i have used Theme Graphics Switcher... very easy to use... however not all icons are replaced... for example icons on the dropdown menu (wifi, mobile internet, BT, silent mode, alarm and BTnotification) are not replaced... similarly Privacy under Settings icon, individual Contacts icon under Contacts has not changed... also Theme Graphics Switcher has limited options... no option to change wallpaper, tab icons under Music Player, Call Logs, and others... all these icons show properly on Nokia Belle SDK though... any thoughts???

You can transfer all icons in one step using Theme Graphics Switcher, it's on same website as Siscontents. Then you just have replace some resources manually (general warning/query/information/confirmation etc) with Siscontents. What problem do you have, I mean what doesn't work on 808?

The Automatic Mode will give you best results in 90% of the cases. Try shooting the same photos in Creative and Automatic�.you will understand better what to do in Creative�.You have to take a lot of pics. till you will understand creative mode�.keep on trying , there is nothing ring with your device!!!

Take a look at the battery, and check out if it still looks the same. If the surface is no longer flat but a little bloated, then the battery has gone bad. If it looks OK then try the advice the person below gave you. ;-)

Let the battery dry to the point when it tells you to activate saving mode. Then turn of the phone and charge it turned off. After the charge is finished, unplug it and take out the battery for 10 minutes. Then put it back, turn on the phone, after everything loads, plug the charger back and let it charge till full. Do this 3 times in a raw. Also, check hour newly installed app. Is there a widget an app you've installed recently? If yes, do some research, turn it of(uninstall it) restart and see if the battery still drains so quickly. From what you say, is more like an consumer issue in your device, then cause of a defect battery. But stlll, do the method i gave 3 gimes in the raw and see if any improvement is given.

Yes, whatsapp supports symbian to. So, yes, 808 has whatsapp and is free on Nokia store. But, if you have a dual sim device and don't find any store in it, don't bother. Nokia Weather App is officially discontinued for Symbian today. It doesn't work anymore on my Nokia 808 PureView. In coming days, expect Nokia to officially discontinue other services like Nokia Maps for Symbian. Flash it with phoenix.. U will get ur 808 back to normal.. Even if u can't access other than lock screen ( in case ur device is password protected ), just perform a deadflash ( ALL DATA'S IN PHONE MEMORY WILL BE LOST ). That should help.

I tried from cutetube, youtubehd, opera browser and I get Unable to connect to server when it tries to load the video in the phone video player. I've tried on 3G and wifi(wifi works by proxy) and I get the same error in both cases.

They said the same about N8 too, that's why they went for 3.5 inches. Also when I tried the 808 it was perfect for one hand, such a great shape. I could drop an iPhone 50 times before dropping the 808 once, I can twist and flip it in my hand and it doesn't feel like it is going to fall. Man I want this phone some day. :-) And one-handed use is very important, what when I'm holding a dog leash, umbrella, shopping bag, drink, cigarette... I can read all the news while drinking my morning coffee for example, no need to put anything down. Take photos too. :-)

Used my friend's Lumia 520. I find the WP OS quite stable and smooth but disappointed after using it for some time. It lacks many features that Symbian offers. Weak system for me too. I think I will buy a Nokia N8 and a Nokia N73 next. Thank you, friend.

4 inches is enough for one-handed use, also it has the best sunlight contrast and legibility of all phones in the market, which is important for a camera phone. As for resolution, it's less important than you might think.

Don't waste your money on 1020. it is a good device but you can be very disappointed from it after you used Symbian. Also, 808 sensor is better then the one from lumia. You can really do allot of things with it even though it lacks the great software 1020 has... At least, this is my 2 cent opinion after using windows. Weak system for me.

i can watch youtube videos in my 808 with the default youtube app. With youtube downloader i can download/watch videos nhd or hd if available up to 1080p even if the videos are not supposed to be available in a mobile phones! Lol! What are you complaining about? Hahah

There are many YouTube apps in the Store. The best one is cuteTube but it's not free. I can normally watch or download YouTube videos with my N8.

Thanks for the detailed answer, Zaid. :-) The reason I bought the Nokia 808 4 months ago is because of the fact that it delivers such pure images in low resolution and also in full resolution. I saw the comparison of both the cameraphones in all about symbian and it's pretty clear that both the cameraphones (Nokia 808 and Lumia 1020) has their own pros and cons. While Nokia Lumia 1020 is brilliant in Night, Nokia 808 shines in daylight. I appreciate natural colours from Nokia 808 PureView with little to no noise whereas it's a total different story on Lumia 1020. I am currently saving for a yellow or white Lumia 1020 after hearing the rumour that it will get the same algorithms as Nokia 808 and RAW support via the Window Phone 8.1 update. It's going to be interesting to see the next PureView phase 3 which would probably include variable aperture from Nokia N86 8 MP, a legendary phone for its time. The only three advantages Lumia 1020 has against Nokia 808 are manual controls, higher ISO and optical image stabilization. I'm pretty much happy with my Nokia 808 performance and with Symbian's goodness. Is it worth to buy the Lumia 1020 if I already have Nokia 808 or it's worth to wait for PureView Phase 3 which would probably include variable aperture? What do you say about it? Hi protocol I remember that i post the answer of your question before, but never mind to share it with you again both phones are coming from 2 different schools and both having its key of powers 1- Nokia 808 pureview belongs to the looks like real life photo school, it uses the minimal post processing and gives you very natural photo and this will results...more pure, natural and clear photo...but it will be a little bit soft and no as sharp as Lumia 1020 photo 2- Nokia Lumia 1020 is a totally different story...it belongs to the school of heavy post processing and bunch colors photo...it produces very bunchy colors photo and over saturated in alot of situations beside its photo is pretty sharp than 808...but you will get more noise, grain, over sharpen, slightly un realistic photo so the conclusion is... Nokia 808 is the king over all and you need to know that most of photographers and professional smart phone users always love the realistic photo and natural colors without any post processing cause it gives them the variety and more chances for tuning as much as they want...Im one of those people...Damian Dinning also But for most users who wants a great camera and will never think of such details and not always ant to edit their photos...Lumia 1020 is the perfect match for them...it is very fun to use...add nice colors to photos, has OIS which is really useful beside tons of modern photo apps...finally Nokia will also relese it camera update for 1020 with nokia black GDR3 and this will apply the old and better algorithms of 808 so there will be more natural colors and less noise beside RAW file support which is totally awesome...so we need to wait and see hope that helps and answers you...I typed it with Lumia 925 on my way to work :D have a nice day my friend :)

(amazing for sure, N8 also) ------------------------------------------------­------------------------------------------------­------------------------------------------------­---------------------------------------------- Now coming to lumia 1020...the best smartphone camera out there right now: 1- Lumia 1020 has smaller pixel size 1.12 um due to the smaller sensor size 2- Lumia 1020 producing images in 72 dpi only...another reason for making the pixel smaller than 808 pureview's one ( talked with Juha Alakarhu on twitter about pixel size and he told me that they simulated the 1.4 um but the results was worst than 1.12 um 3- Lumia 1020 has no ND filter. 4- Lumia 1020 has no ISO 50, it starts from 100 and this will results more noise and highlights in the pictures. 5- Juha Alakarhu didn't tell me about the pixel size of the oversampled 5 MP...he just told me that the physical pixel size is 1.12 um, but I think it will be around 2.75 um or something like that, but obvious it will be smaller than Nokia 808's one ------------------------------------------------­------------------------------------------------­--------- But Lumia 1020 also has some advantages over it's older brother the 808 PV : ------------------------------------------------­------------------------------------------------­---------- 1- Lumia 1020 have aperture F/ 2.2 bigger than 808 PV F/2.4, and bigger F-stop means bigger depth of field and better light catching 2- Lumia 1020 has the best OIS on any phone, it's the second generation and really it's impressive and awesome and very powerful and accurate more than Lumia 925-928-920 3- Lumia 1020 have Six lenses rather than 5 only for 808 pureview and 4 only for all the Lumias except Lumia 925 (which has six also) 4- Lumia 1020 has better oversampling algorithms so the 5 MP should sharper than 808 (but that doesn't mean better or more details) 5- Lumia has faster shutter speed till 1/16000 faster than 808 PV which has shutter speed around 1/ 5000 - 6000 and the pictures is almost totally dark. 6- Lumia 1020 has Rich audio recording and two mics. like 808 PV...808 is stronger cause it can do like 320 mb bitrate/s CD quality beside WP OS still has mono only for video recording...(read the white paper of 808) 7- Lumia has mechanical shutter like 808 PV and N8 and that's help the Xenon flash and fast mode photos. So as you see both have amazing technology and Nokia only one can do that but The final conclusion: --------------------------------- -Nokia 808 is better in terms of clarity and pure photos with almost no noise...it has more zoom with 2MP PV mode up to 3.6 zoom so: day light photos, portraits, landscapes, night photos it will be more clear and producing more amount of details however it's not as sharp as Lumia 1020 due to it's 6 lenses and it's new algorithms. - Lumia 1020 will be better in low light, indoors, night portraits and Night photos, cause of the awesome OIS 2nd generation which gives the Lumia 1020 extra points here, however it lacks very important option like ISO 50 level which help us alot as smartphone photographer to control the noise on the low light situations (Nokia 808 pureview will be better in low light in terms of quality and clarity with details but it will need tripod, cause it will be very shaky at night and produce very shaked photos) but you know, not every one will carry or use tripod when going to club or taking quick night photos - Lumia 1020 will be better also at videos cause they will be very sharp and stable due to OIS 2nd generation. Even you cannot understand what you murmur about there! As for the camera. 808 has a way better sensor then 1020. software is better. The user app is weaker but that's about it;). Overall i give 10 to 808 9 to 1020.

Let's hope they keep their promise. The Store will still work (they need it for S40 too) but there will be no more new apps or updates to the old apps after January 1st 2014. You will still be able to buy them, but some might become outdated. But I know there will be other sources to get things from. :-)

I had the last version of qooSystem on my N8 (it was released a week or two ago) and it was giving me problems - my task manager would always show the last app I used and it would refuse to close. I uninstalled it and went back to qooSystem v1.2.0 which I had before, and the problems disappeared. I use App Stop to close the apps that I don't use, it's free at Nokia Store here: When I turn my phone on, I terminate "weather" and "all WRT widgets" because I don't use them anyway. But they are turned on by default when the phone boots, it's probably similar on the 808.

Hey Ziad, Carol and others, i have few questions i use qoo system and after a restart i always find equalizer widget and data counter widget and weather widget running, though none of them are active..,,, secondly my gallery app does not close even if i use close all apps application..... also sometimes gallery refuses to show images... insetead it gives a blank black page with usual gallery taskbar... what seems to be the problem??

It's so hard to find apps and games for Nokia 808 anywhere outside the Nokia Store. I want to download paid apps and games for free. Really appreciate any help...
