Its a great phone ! I hav been using this phone for over 2.5 yrs... its great... had no prob with the mob.. except for i drop the mob frm a great height and had to change the display... except for it i hav nt spent a penny more... the battery backup is decent... I keep using my phone.. surfing.. chatting round the clock and charge it once everyday... speakers are gud enuf for sound quality... 8mp camera hass gud pic clarity too... Unlike other users (reading the review) I did nt face any prob lik slowing/freezing of the mob...

STOP! If you are reading this and have not bought this phone yet, then DON'T!!! On the good side, this phone is very pretty. It's also a great size and fits nicely in the hand. The camera's not the best, but it still takes reasonable photos - just don't expect masterpieces. The music player is also ok. The best feature, in my opinion, is Nokia Maps. It's really quite good and, I think, a lot better than Google Maps for on the go. Also, the "Car Mode" thing is really very handy - good work there. Sadly, it's not all good news. For starters, internet browsing - even over wifi - is rubbish. It's so slow, I sometimes feel it'd be faster to break the phone open, use the camera lense like MacGyver and light some dry tinder, build a big fire and send smoke signals to people, in order to get information. Very slow. And that's not all! This phone is unbelievably slow, freezes multiple times daily, and not only that... it also restarts itself multiple times daily - seemingly at random! And before some monkey tries to imply that I need to reformat my phone or I have too many apps installed etc etc, rubbish. I've factory reformatted several times - it's only a very temporary solution. "Nokia Belle" is just a bad operating system. Period. This is, without a doubt, simply the worst phone I have ever had the misfortune to own. Sad really, considering Nokia used to be reliable. In summary: this phone is bad and Nokia should feel bad.

C7 and 701 are practically the same phones, with the exception that the 701 comes with Belle OS, while C7 with Symbian^3 (which can be upgraded to Belle). Once C7 is upgraded to Belle it's the same phone. Same camera (the only thing I hate about the phone - fixed focus is 20th century!). Fantastic battery life, browsing with Opera is without a hitch. I love the C7, but I would get the N8 instead for a little more - the camera is light years ahead of the C7/701.

I have had this phone for almost a year now and I hate it, after having it for about 4-5 months it started acting up and would constantly turn off by itself and the music player stopped working. I updated my c7 to the new belle and I find it very good.all working smoothly , it looks great. I find it better than the anna upgrade even. But this is so weird, I had the notorius n97 and I used to read bad reviews, yet mine always worked fine, so I dunnow is it the batch? Arent all phones supposed to be identical? I flashed my C7 Astound on the day I got it to Belle OS and haven't had ANY problems with it ever since. It's a spiffy little OS - very satisfied with it (just wish it had autofocus instead of fixed). If Belle can run flawlessly on a 680MHz processor, it can handle anything.

C7 is good. But if you have symbian anna on your mobile, never ever try to upgrade to new symbian belle. You will face many problem after update like tv out function will not work. ovi store gone and many more problems which will make you cry. So take my advise and DO NOT upgrade to SYMBIAN BELLE. Trust me i have been a victim.

Do not go for symbian belle update. It has so many bugs. You will face many problems like TV out function not working and other programs related problems. As for flv videos, they don't play normally but if you go to files-mass memory - videos, you can play flv videos there. I have tested it with my C7. Try with some small flv files.

I have the nokia astound c-7.... and it is the same as c7 just t-mobile calls it the astound..... I had to have the phone replaced 3 times because of screen freezing, switching, text messages not able to send and alot of other problems... I believe it is the software updates or maybe just the phone...but I recomend not getting it

Astound is for T-Mobile US, only. You can't buy it anywhere else. There are no hardware differences between C7 and Astound, except for the lack of 3G 1900MHz support, which isn't needed for T-mobile's spectrum. The only difference is that Astound comes with Anna update (PR2.0), pre-installed, though without the new icons.

I had bought this new device a week. It is very similar in use compared with N8. That version of Symbian runs smooth and pleasure. I don't see any great problem except the fixed focus. Why Nokia do it? I have a Samsung Galaxy S too but the poor GPS reeiver made me buy the C7 that fix the satts in less than 10 seconds. It's animal! But the other specs of Galaxy S are superb. But, Nokia, why fixed focus???? Why???

This was another device I was seriously considering when looking at the small specs. In the hand, this phone phone felt wonderful with a solid feel to it. The love charm was broken though as I discovered that the 8mp camera (with dual LED flash no less), had no autofocus! I remember most Nokia phones were highly praised for their cameras and image quality that rivaled most point & shoot cameras, the Astound felt like a sharp stick in the eye. 8 megapixels of fuzzy photos that looked no better than my old BlackBerry 8310 produced. Video capture on the other hand was rather decent and on par with most current smartphones capturing at 720p. Focus however, was still a problem. I will admit that I don't have much experience with Symbian based phones but as I drilled through the menus and settings, it does show a bit of age like the BlackBerry OS but it's not so much of a bad thing. Longtime users will feel right at home looking at a fresh coat of paint. Overall, the Astound is a decent value, this phone would have been a grand slam if autofocus was added to the 8 megapixel shooter on the back. Nokia die hards looking for the best, look elsewhere. For the rest of us, the inviting price is a great plus wanting to make a move to smartphone territory. Pick it up and play to see if it "fits" for your needs if you're not looking for an Android or BlackBerry device.

Nokia is only good for nescent people oaveraging technology smart phone but lack of feature that you may need to inquire the hard way yourself. Some difficult are data either you buy it or download. But in a hardway see to it p if the phone facing camera make sure work okey ,the feature dual flash, you have to check that flashlight work as well .if you buy a phone like this ,think money worth a value.

Nokia is slow cause they dont know what to bring out that will drop jaws. They haven't even got an update ready for the F*&^% C6-00 phone with an shitty update that is stalling and erasing everything on the phone every few days. If they are listening to the clients they will help them even with the client with very old phones. Bringing out new phones in my opinion will also result in untested firmware and loads of complaints.

But the one thing about Android phones are, they aren't really user-friendly. I'm working for LG, so I deal with LG phones every single day. I've got quite a number of customers who comes back to service their phones, 90% belongs to Android. This does not happens on LG only, same goes for Samsung and HTC. I don't see Nokia phones going wrong so often though. I've got a Nokia phone which has lasted me for 3 years. Can Android phones really last that long? You should know it better than anyone else, Android Fans.

It just seems as symbian gets all the flames for its need of tweaks and fixes. Heres my review and experience of C7 compared with my friends and familys Android phones: Take 1 GHz Android of choice from same price class. Crank up mp3, www (with flash), open some office documents. Now do the same with C7. The check which one is lagging and which one runs out of juice first. Even on my old E series Nokia I can do this without hanging the phone. Then do a few drop and scratch tests. I know from experience that C7 will do good here. That´s why you by it. Yes, you might have a few hidden settings and a slightly lower res screen 8nothing you see from holding it at normal distance from your face. But thats it!

A fixed focus camera of 8mp sensor is totally meaning less, because a 5mp auto focus camera can produce much much clear photos than it. Moreover a fixed focus camera uses smallera lens than a auto focus camera, so low light performence is also become worse. So those who wants to use there mobile as a camera shouldn't think about this model. Rather by Nokia X6. Its 5mp AF camera produce so much clear photos, sometimes as clear as a digital camera. . . :-)

The CPU is just as fast as it is needed to be: Symbian doesnt need a 1 GHz CPU. And it does have a powerful GPU. Just kick off a few apps and it will still do fine. GPS with free navigation. The cam takes some pretty good movie captures.

Take any 1 Ghz Android from the same price class as C7 and cranck up an mp3, a few webpages (with flash) and open some office and pdf files. Which one is lagging the most, and which one will run out of juice first? That´s how you measure it, not by babbling up the "empty" specs.

Or the transfer from one OS generation to the another for that matter. Of course, its not the exakt same thing here, just that symbian is less heavy to get going. Its not about the horsepowers, its about the weight of the load. In order to try it in practice: take a C7 and a roughly equally priced 1GHz Android of choise, crank up the mp3 player and surf the web while opening a pdf file or something at the same time. Which of these phones will start to lag? Actually my good old Nokia E51 can do this, without too much sweat (its called real multitasking).

Nice phone. Symbian may well continue along WP7. Nokia unlikely to drop Symbian unless WP7 will prove reliable horse. Recently leaked UI updates to Symbian look good. Symbian internals are sound. What Nokia needs - good linkage to various ecosystems. Apps craze will drop. No apps necessary for what can be and should be done in browser.

The main difference between C7 and Astound is the internal memory as C7 has 8gb while Astound has in Mb's BUT with card slot option of upto 32 Gb. So it will be cheaper than C7.
