You should rethink about "dumb" phone... I'm using an E5-00 as my main phone today and have nothing to complain. It's quite annoying to set up everything for daily use, like email accounts (I have 3), an find all the necessary apps you need nowadays, but gess what; It worths the effort!!! The main thing you should keep in mind is that you're not gonna be able to use Whatsapp (and right now this is the only backdraw I find 'til now) but facebook messenger works like a charm. Put it in a good SD and you are ready to rock n roll! If you enjoy open air activities, then endomondo is the app to go for. The Symbian version is quite old and "outdated" but the GPS hardware of Nokia does all the magic, being even far more precise tha the latest Android version... You have no selphie camera (but who needs one?) and the main camera besides being a 5 mp with flash does an outstanding job. So yes I proudly recomend you to buy this one. Oh! Before I forget: You gonna need to hack the phone in order to install most of the apps actually, but it is an easy thing to do. There are plenty sites on the internet bringing support to the plataform and most of the are quite active. I recomend "Hey Symbian" on facebook as your main resource... Good Luck and rethink 'bout "dumb phones"

I'm still using this phone as of today Oct 2017. Durable, reliable and batt life last a whole day with heavy usage e.i voice call, text msg & internet browsing. The only drawbacks is that whatsapp & google mail is no longer supported. I will still continue using this phone till it is dead.

Shafiq - The reason for this is battery being used in 3G areas without proper connectivity. You should shut down your phone whenever this happens, and then restart with power plugged in. Then try to make the call with or without power connection.

Go to "Ctrl. Panel" from the Menu. Then Connectivity, WLAN Wiz and the phone will automatically scan for WiFi. Then configure an enjoy. Actually, WiFi was more renowned as WLAN back in 2010 for Nokia. And by the way, if you want to use Opera Mini or UC Browser instead of Default Browser, you have to select the connection method from the settings of the respective browser. Hopefully you're using WiFi successfully now. :-)

Nokia e5-00 is the best smart phone when we compare on android.because even it had 256mb ram it is lot for that.it works perfectly than android phones.the qwerty keyboard in it allowed we to type more faster than the feature phones.it has powerfull 600mhz arm 11 processor.it also have 512mb ram.the 256mb ram is more powerfull than 2gb ram in android phones.only 1 draw back is it has no front camera.we use front camera for video calling but for it,it has the function to switch to video call in e5-00 with the 5mp back camera.it also have LED flash.from my expierence there is no hanging,no unresponsive.its battery is also good.most amazing thing is its downloading speed.E5 has 3g capacity,by comparing the downloading spped of 3g supported android phone(not 4g) E5 is best of best because i got 2890kb per second downloading speed with tata docomo sim card.i also tested android phone speed with the same tata docomo sim,but in any way E5 is perfect.its light sensor is also nice.but now microsoft has disables the youtube application in s60v3.(not youtube site).but we can watch youtube videos online through browser with real player that already installed in it! by joikuspot app we can create wifi hotspot in e5(ad-hoc network).its WLAN is so perfect.the most fastest browser in E5 is uc browser.in nokia e5 there is voice commands.the videos with 640*360 resolution is supported by nokia e5 with its own real player but we can support 640*480 videos using core player.we can also play high over 640*480,but it would be slower.android phones have more apps than symbian but to prevent this nokia e5 is java supported.therefore apps will more than android.it screen size is 2.4(320*240).this phone is DLNA technology supported.but when we compared with android phones bluetooth version is lower than android.because android have bluetooth 4.1,E5 has only v2.0.its os is symbian v9.3(s60v3.2)feature pack 2.it has 260mb internal memory.the internet sharing by usb teathering is also much have fast.it also have GPS that used for find location and to find the way in map.even it has no touch screen it qualities make it as a smartphone.we can charge the battery of nokia E5 using both usb and nokia's own charger.

as for diconnection problems while downloading, just ensure u have ur original settings of ur service provider to get settings just go to message >setting>service message (on) download message(auto) then as for mtn text settings to 3888 .u will recieve and save the settings go back and try downloading it again using the original setting pls dont use ''access'' to download. The only flop is its inability to play on avi videos and picmix it also keep cache of previous memory card when changed but i can fix that hmmm so easy. All d same i consider it as end of discussion nokia phone (symbian edition).

Very reliable and durable phone! I've owned mine since 2011 and I am reluctant to upgrade, but it's going to be time to do so soon. Symbian s60 wasn't bad of an OS, but it's just too old to continue. The only problem I have is the headphone jack sometimes stays connected when I disconnect my headphones. I have to keep a pair of headphones nearby just incase it sticks. That's probably due to it getting damp and it's age. I also use headphones almost daily.

YouTube has changed its supported API to version 3 from version 2. It means that app is (almost) dead. Since there is no support for Symbian phones anymore, you can watch videos by using built-in Real Player.

Hi Folks! I love this E5 phone. Great phone. Never missed a beat. Fantastic device!!!! However this morning the YouTube app stopped working. For the last two weeks each time I logged onto the preloaded YouTube widget a notification came before all video clips advising YouTube was being upgraded and that this device was not supported. However the video clips appeared and could be played. This morning all that appears is the notification and nothing else. The notification says visit YouTube/devicesupport for assistance. I visited the site and it says Nokia devices are supported. So why is the YouTube widget not working on my E5. The phone and the Airtel 3G connection aregreat. Since this morning YouTube has stopped functioning altogether.Only the application update alert plays. I have talked with Nokia and with Nokia Care. Nokia's Hotline says I need to update the software, while Nokia Care says that may not help, and that I need to wait a whileand that YouTube may be back. PLEASE HELP.

Used most of the qwerty based e series and i am addicted to my e5 ; by far the best phone for my liking cuz it has a good battery; most of the useful apps like viber,whatsapp,youtube,nimbuzz and even wechat works on my nokia e5.I frequently poke fun at my freinds ; most of are android & ios users when there battery goes to minimum ... Nice phone. Battery life is about one week (bought this one as used). Apps are running ok, reliable device. I like qwerty-phones, Easy to type messages. And no, I'm not using whatsapp, viber etc... Just calling, messaging, and playing sudoku...

I've faced the same problem of the internet access point always turned on, but I've found the solution; I downloaded an app named 'NetQin Mobile guard' which enables you to disconnect all or some of the access points you're using. You won't see the packet data symbol on the screen anymore after using it.

About my E5-00's battery problem, here is an update. I got the phone checked by Nokia care. Turnsout the spindle charger, which took a good 5 hours to charge at the best of times, was faulty. No complaints. The charger has served me well for 3 years now. The Nokia guy said the new battery BL4D was good and that I needed a new quick charging USB charger, so the phone charged fully and quickly. I had a eureka moment and decided on using my Sony Ericsson USB charger for the Nokia E5. It worked great. The Nokia battery now charges fully and quickly. Only problem: the battery runs down in about 3 hours of internet browsing. This was not the case with the original battery. Any idea whats wrong? Should I get a new Nokia USB quick charger.

i can use whatsapp in nokia e5. It is really a superb handset. Browsing, downloading, net speed are just too good. I can dial video call with the help of its back camera. Camera flash of this set is remarkable than other set. After all, it is one of the best set of nokia indeed.

Great phone, been using it a little over a year now. I really like the qwerty keyboard, easy to type, and great for shortcuts (has a bluetooth on/off button, silence button, etc.) My favorite bit is the music player. It's easily managable, and I can simply start typing a song name and it starts searching for it. The only weakness is the mask - it can get ruffed up real quick, and changing it can be a pain in the arse (if you're doing it yourself). The camera is a bit annoying - the automatic mode is always on when I turn the camera on, and for some reason it always wants to use the flash (which makes the photograph blurry, so it's useless for taking pictures, I only use it as a flashlight), so I have to turn the flash off every single time I open up the camera. It's a great phone, don't see a reason to use a smartphone (I don't do social media that much, I do most of my browsing at home, but the phone is definitely capable of that as well), and I find the physical qwerty keyboard a lot more convenient than an on-screen smartphone keyboard.

I don't think you can, easily. That is my biggest gripe about this phone. I've lost so much cash with phone doing that. I ended up deleting all access points and resorting to Wifi alone, which in hindsight sucks in a way. Otherwise, I really like this phone.

Truely Nokia E5-00 Made in Korea is a great phone. I've been using it since 2011 til date with NO single issue. Have other phones but still maintains it. Right now am sending this comment using my Nokia E5-00. Am pleading to Microsoft to continue with Nokias great/wonderful gesture i.e. quality built, update to both latest & old phones @ the same time & everlasting battery life. Unlike what we experiance today e.g. where a phone battery cannot last for just two days. Till date my Nokia E5-00 battery that i bought the phone with last for 5 days of heavy usage. Had never have anything like a second battery. Also, Microsoft, PLEASE bring back the good old days of the GREAT Symbian OS. Kudos to Nokia.

Was the spare battery sealed? if it was then the battery is defective. If it was not sealed [means that the battery case is actually slip-in type and not sealed, then it may be that the battery was not in full charge when you bought it. To keep your battery in top performance have it fully charge before safe keeping or setting aside. In your case it is safe enough that you'll need to buy a new battery. In which case the one you'll buy would be absolutely full charge ready to use. Hope this helped you.

In March 2011 I bought a E5 00 in Kuwait and have been using the phone inNew Delhi, India on Airtel network ever since. It is a great phone, that has never missed a beat, and I am a convert to Nokia. Fearing this model may be discontinued in the near future, I bought a spare battery BL4D for the phone. Since the original battery was in good nick, I decided not to unpack the spare battery. For over a year and a half the spare battery was unpackec and in its carton. Last week I unpacked the spare battery and put it in the phone. I charged the battery for over 7 hours, yet the battery did not charge fully. I have put the battery on charge for over 7 hours, several time, yet the battery does not charge fully. The original battery ran out of grunt after a good 3 years on use.Internet browsing for over 5 a day. The original battery served me well. Please help. What is the problem with the new battery. Why does the battery not charge fully. Is it the battery, phone or the charger. I am taking the phone, battery and the charger to Nokia Care. If anyone out there has any clue about why the new battery does not charge fully and loses charge quickly once in use, then do please let me know. I have done everything right, so why do I have to suffer a rotten battery.

Only hard reset can reformat your E5. First remove the sim card and microSD card from the handset then put the battery in its place and cover up by backcover. Now, send a message by texting *#7370# followed by the default pin number- 12345. The handset will restart again in full form in 10-15 minutes. Enjoy your phone. Thank you.

Superb phone!!! Go for it. You cant get a new piece so you will have to do with a used one. Not sure how good that phone will be. Depands on the last user. E5 has a good browser and is a maginificient texter. I am texting this comment on an E5. Fantastic phone. Sure beats these stupid touch phones. Weaknesses: mediocre camera, display so so. No front camera. Display alittle small. Occassional hanging and freezing, spares not easily available.Strengths: excellentkeypad, good 3G speed, large storage, battery life OK, sold build quality,reat audio reception. I would not swap this for any other phone. Alas Nokia phones are hopeless now. Th e E5 has excellent net browsing and is a great email device. Fantastic phone. If like me, you hate touch touch phones, then this is the phone for you. THE GOD OF PHONES!!

This is not entirely true. Symbian was abandoned because Nokia focused on WP, not because other reasons. Is an excellent OS, fast, great at multitasking, and wiah a lot of features at low cost. I have an E5 and is not unstable, I downloaded several appls from the Store without issues. Just have to keep room for the C: disk... and all will work just fine. Android is not as robust as you describe... you can assume that only if you have a big piece of hardware to run it... and a big data plan to support it... then you'll be happy. Regards

It gat almost all what i need as an average and it got a super fast speed internet.most impressed is d pdf viewer and flashlight. but the problem with e5 is that it do retain cache when m.card is changed and its very fragile.the keypad also get easily damaged when d fone is accidentally submarged in water dat was how i lost my first e5 but after trying other nokia sisx product like x7 and e71, i descover that e5 was still d best.its only senior is e72.

android system is much faster and more flexible no freezing no apps problem and Symbian is a very slow start system and without garentee it crashes when you download a wrong app (vires) and your phone is dead and permission problem thats why nokia stopped making Symbian phone ita a WAST OF TIME AND MONEY .

The boring part of it is that you have to save data from 1st before it goes to memory card, sometimes you receive a data of large memory than that on board so you cant have that data because saving data to phone 1st

On 26th Jan, I was sending Images o my Laptop via Bluetooth and in between when the data sending was in progress I cancelled the operation from my Nokia E5 handset.After that when I checked the phone for the Images ,I could not find any Images in the phone. After 11 months I've got my Nokia E5 it gives a "phone memory low" error. I could not update Whatsapp or send sms etc. After several times I visited the cell phone store, Nokia reload the software in middle of November 2013 and promised me I will not get the error again. 3 days ago when my whatsapp has to be upgraded, the same error occur. I am so disappointed because 13 months of my 24 months contract I had problems with internal memory! It shows on the phone there is 11 Mb memory and the whatsapp to install is only 5.6 Mb and still it give the error.

I don't agree with your comments about E5. Voice calls depends on how strong the signal is. With good signal you hear just fine. I don't have the last version of the OS, I'm on v. 042.014. I have the phone since July 2012, and no issues at all. If you miss features like the stopwatch, look for appls on the Nokia Store, you'll find what is missing. That's why this is a smartphone, you can add functionality with applications. You just need to do some maintenance, as with any OS, to grant full functionality over the time. I have Mobile Guard 3.0 installed, and from time to time I run a scan to clean up the garbage and to have c: healthy and with room. SMS conversation format you don't have, that's truth. Again, you have appls to add it, or to use WhatsApp... and ready to go. Symbian is a powerful OS, smarter in several features to Android. You don't have touchscreen, or full size screen, but for its size and shape, the features are quite good, you can do what you want with it. Just another opinion... Regards.

This phone has some serious issues: You can not make proper voice calls with this phone. Several speech dropouts during talking: they can hear you, but you can not hear them. This is highly annoying. The latest OS did not really solved this issue. Only a hard reset solves it but it only last for about 1 month. After that the issue comes back and you have to do a hard reset again. Geo positioning has issues as well. Only a recent version of the OS solves this issue. Recent versions of the OS are hard to get because it is a discontinued product. It had to do it by jailbreak. The Symbian OS is an OS from the past. Works good on old phones with a very small display and just a numpad. Totally wrong for a device like this: very deep hided settings, useless abbreviations for names. Other software is missing: no stopwatch, no threaded SMS. A good free stopwatch does exist, google for Tevero Stopwatch. No small funny games as well.

Right about the amount of applications you can have with Android, but I don't agree about your absolute comment about the E5. If you go to Android, you'll miss the battery time and Symbian unique features. It all depends on your needs, if you're an application consumer, go to Andtroid. But get used to charge the phone once a day if you're lucky, maybe two... You'll have to activate Wifi, remember to deactivate, monitor what Android is doing with the data, etc... none of this happens in Symbian. From a practical point of view, I have in my E5 what I need... communication, Wifi, music, decent camera, great GPS, calendar, three days battery backup, and applications I need (WhatsApp and some others I need). I do not need touchscreen and 4" or more screen size, not now at least. I'm very happy with my E5. If Nokie would continue developing Symbian/Belle, would be now a hard OS to beat... Regards.

It's time to say GOODBYE to NOkia Phones. I have used enough of Nokia. My current E5 is actually a big disappointment. I bought the phone then just because of the applications I wanted to intall but so unfortunate that non could be successfully installed. The phone is just like any other ordinary phone. The only thing am enjoying is the Offline GPS and Camera. I love applications so much hence, ANDRIOD PHONE: Here I come. I CAN'T even go for windows phone again. There are hundreds of thousands of andriod applications where I can download from.

The flash in the E5 I have is set to Automatic. As such, only will flash if light is needed. Review your settings. Regarding the sound, is set that way because of regulations for privacy, I read somewhere, when you take a picture there has to be some advise you do that. Anyway, this was already commented to fix it. Regards.

You have to put the telephone on silent/vibration profile.In that profile "warning sounds" like the click from the camera is turned off,and in the meniu it is set so off,even if the sound is still there.If the sound is still there,turn "warning sounds" on and off again,and is should stop them.After the noise is gone,the flash will light,but that you can select from meniu,tu be turned off,and then both sound and flash it turned off,but remember,only if you keep it in vibration/silent mode,if you change it to sound,the camera sound will come on again.

Even its not loading up after several Switch Off and On's ... Then i checked my SIM card ... My SIM card got damaged, so that the reason for the problem ... I went to the Airtel Showroom and changed the SIM card with the same Mobile Number ... Now its working fine and AM BACK WITH MY NOKIA E5 ... Is a great phone. Symbian is a quite good OS, all with 250 Mb RAM! Is quick, the camera is decent enough (5 Mpx, fixed-focus)FM Radio and MP3 player sounds very good (with good headphones), communications work great, you can download apps (form Nokia Store), good battery, etc... Symbian support is granted until 2016, so go ahead. Maybe not so many OS upgrades in the future, but I suggest to live with the original firmware. OS upgrades are risky... Is a great phone, you'll enjoy it a lot.

Just hold the red key untill you see ' end data connection' then end it by pressing ok.. If you have installed whatsapp or any other app that is always connected to the internet then once you close the internet it will automatically connect to the internet very next moment so when yoo dont have data pack you better remove the default internet setting by going to settings>connections

The best and reliable qwerty phone ,using from last 2 years no problem till now, I suggest you to get this one only if you are not into gaming and those millions of apps, camera gives decent pics not the best but yeah some usable pics, speakers are loud enough, screen size is perfect and qwerty keys are comfortable too but future of this phone is in dark, because nokia has killed symbian officially so you wont get any software update for this or any symbian device, so choose wisely.

Hi. This info is not accurate. Nokia will stop supporting Symbian OS on 2016. I can download apps from Nokia Store without any problem as well. Is a great phome. I have it from a year now, and I just upgraded the SD card from the included 2Gb to 8GB. The camera is quite good, I also just came from vacation and took more than 100 pictures, even in dark places, like museums and train stations, the the pictures are quite good! I really like Symbian, for me is a very efficient OS. I don't see the need to go to a touchscreen one, I'm very comfortable with this qwerty master... Regards. Regards.

E5 and E72 almost have same features. E5 have more RAM, new UI looks, stable feature pack os. Minus : design, material and battery not good as E72. No front camera and light sensor. E72 have more deep colors, bigger battery, dpad plus trackpad, cool design and solid material. Front camera and light sensor. Minus : still have bugs even in latest firmware. You can manage it if you know the tricks.. I'm personally prefer E72.. Nokia product between 2008 and 2009 are best of the best. For premium phone have more endurance, finest hardware and material.

Hi,,you have to reformat your phone in order to get rid of those files that cannot be opened nor deleted,,,it happened to me,,i also e5 user,,i removed my mmc card then all of files still there and i cant open it,, itried to remove ot but it says general error,,so i decided to just reformat it,, its in the settings,,just click restore factory settings,,goodluck hope it helps.. Ps. All your data in your memory phone will be deleted also,,it will restore it all like a brand new one,,

For your camera sound problem, check search this forum for details. For 'select enhancement thing', it seems seems your Radio app was kept opened when you had connected your ear phone last time. Radio app uses ear phone as an antena. As phone is not able to find the same, message displays on your screen. Connect your ear phone once & switch off your Radio app. Hope it helps.

hey austine, this is a common problem for many users. maybe restoring factory settings will do the trick? But keep in mind that all the data will be deleted, so keep a backup of everything including contacts. Good luck

Do a hard reset with *#7370#. When it asks for security code, enter 12345. Back up everything before this procedure, for the phone memory will be formatted to factory conditions, and everything it had, including contacts, apps etc will be gone. If problem persists, reinstall firmware thru Nokia suite. If problem still persists, then most probably it's a hardware issue - go for service.

When I installed WhatsApp also the battery time decreased a lot... the application is always connected and also if you're where you have a WiFi known by the E5, and data connection is lost, it switches to WiFi not to loose connection. However, I'm so happy with this phone... love Symbian, for me a great OS.

If you are currently using E5, & if it is in perfect condition, I will suggest you to stick with the same. Most of the Qwerty keypad users are not comfortable with touch screen phones. If you are planning to upgrade from Symbian OS to Windows OS, you can go for Lumia. Not sure, why you are looking for Lumia 510 having Windows 7.8. Remember, Lumia 510 is not upgradable to Windows 8. Instead, I will suggest you to consider Lumia 520 with Windows 8 OS. Please check pros & cons of the handset and as per your requirements/budget, choose the handset which is best suitable for you.

It is dead, isnt starting (m sure that cud b fixed). Now finally time for upgrade. Nokia E5 & Tecno N3 are totally different phones. Nokia E5 is non-touch/qwerty keyboard phone & Tenno is touch screen phone. First is having symbian os & later comes with Android GB. Not sure about others, but if are looking for a gaming device, I will suggest you to go for Tecno. Nokia E5 is business phone & not for gaming lovers.
