Camera-free? It's not like this phone is any cheaper, the normal Nokia E51 is the same price. I guess I'm looking at it from a perspective in 2018 but in 2008 it probably was cheaper. I don't know.

Bought this E51 non camera at below US$20 a week ago just to try out for fun. Reason I bought this phone was because it's Symbian OS, cool looking metal casing, and at such a low price who wouldn't want to try it out. First thing I noticed was the rubber buttons at both sides and the power switch starting to peel off very badly, so bad that the whole button simply disappeared, but still usable. Most likely due to aging process. Battery life fairly short, about 2 days max. Can't complaint much because it's quite normal for such an old phone. Display is quite clear with adjustable brightness. On top of the left side above the screen there is a white Led light which I not quite sure what's that for. It only lite up when I switched on the phone. Quite easy to open up the back casing for changing battery or sim card, unlike the Nokia phone today, so difficult to open. I tried most of the functions, and they work fine except for the calendar, somehow it's jam. Even after resetting the phone, the calendar doesn't work. Also, it's not easy to find working symbian apps and games for this phone, even if I found some cool apps to download, most of the time it doesn't work, or expired certificate. The key pad buttons seems to be a bit tiny for me, always end up pressing the wrong button, especially both top left and right menu buttons. Speed of this phone is quite reasonably fast compared to my other new low end candy bar model eg. Nokia 206. Because of the metal casing, the phone heats up pretty fast while charging. Best is put it somewhere cool while charging, eg. on the floor. Can be quite annoying if you use an expired sim card, which I normally use for testing phone. It will prompt you every 10 seconds that the sim card registration failed. Okay, I think that's about it. My final say about this phone is it's still quite an interesting phone to experiment with. Made by Nokia, and not Microsoft which gives me that classic user friendly feel. Buy it only if it's cheap.

Nope, nobody's made, there are two options with the phone, one is with and the other is without a camera. As mentioned so many times, the camera free one is to make it convenient for security reasons, for pple who work in companies where security is an issue. I've had phones with camera, i love phones with camera, it's always best when u have everything right here next to you but due to security reasons at work,that had to change, i had to switch to E51. There are 3 mobile phones with almost all current functions which have no camera, 9300/i, E51 & E61/2 ( i think)

well no, try E61 if still in the market, nice phone, doesn't have as many functions as the E51 but i love the qwerty, helps me type faster... i hate it when i have to press keys twice or wait till the cursor shows the type the next letter.

This means that this particular E51 has no camera. There are two types of E51, one has got a cam and the other one doesn't... the camera free one is the one that doesn't.

Yes... All guys looking out for non camera phone with all features. This phone has everything you would like to have in a business phone. However it has a normal screen like that of nokia 6600 but the featues are amazing. Guys if you have a security policy of non camera phones in your company go for this phone. Don't get confused with the market guys. The phone comes with 2 versions. One with a camera which is readily available and other one without a camera which you will need to search for......... Enjoy

E51 will not be lauched in india in the near future. if they (nokia) launch this phone then most buyers will pick this phone (provided pricing is realistic) and nokia will have failures on their other high end phones already selling or yet to lauch in india. so dont keep hopes that this will be available at a store near you. infact I have tried places like Hk , dubai, UK and US and this is no longer available

E51 is one of the best hp among camera free hp. Due to my company restriction our companyh don't allow camera hp in our workplace. I have been using a Camera Free E51 for over 6 months now. For one it is made in Finland as they do not make these ones in China as it is not a bulk produce. The result.. Highest Manufacturing quality. The metal on the back is out of the world, just does not scratch. I left the phone on the treadmill bottle holder and there was water, the phone got completely soaked upto the 5 key... just switched it off and removed the battery... within 2 hours it was back to normal (this was 6 months ago). No camera means no security hastles. Who wants a phone camera when you get 10 megapixel pocket cameras which can shhot great pictures. A phone is to talk and store numbers and it should be with you at all times. E51 Camera Free ensures that.

For guys/gals asking "Why on earth would you want a phone without a camera"? Well, I work in the IT Industry and have to work on some government projects, over there they don't allow outsiders with Camera phones! I know its very specific usage but I am thankful to Nokia for this version of E51! By the way, I have E71 as well that is for my normal ;)

Please don't complain why a phone don't feature a camera. It just show how ignorant you are. Some people work in workplaces where they don't allow any form of camera. They don't have a choice but have to use a non-camera phone. They can't just change job so that they can carry a camera phone everyday. How would you feel if you have to use a Nokia 1600, or Nokia 6021, while your friends and family are using N96, iPhone. A phone like E51 non-camera is God's gift. Finally they listen to music, surf the net and download email at 3.5G speed, syncronise PIM at USB 2.0 speed. Not to mention bluetooth. They will be wishing for a Nokia 5800 non-camera come this christmas. They end up with a non-camera phone for work and a camera-phone for weekends.

Dear Amit, IF you are looking for multimedia features then why you are going for the E series. E series is made for business people, I mean more useful to business or roaming person. TO check mail or wi fi etc. If you want multimedia handsets then go for N series or anything. 3600 is also a not bad choice. Now a day latest Nokia phones have inbuilt Processors and RAM, so there is no issue of speed. N if you are the very busy businessmen or CEO etc who checks his mail every 2 min. then E series or Blackberry is worth buying. I use E90 because I do work at certain level. But I miss multimedia features and sometimes feel like carrying elephant !

The main difference between a business phone and another phone with the same OS is the issue concerned with the battery life. Though they both use the same battery phones belonging to the E-series disables unnecessary files running in background while its the otherway round for other non E-series phones..

I just bought the one with a camera and its just amazing...you can download many items at one time..you can enable emails to be downloaded automatically onto your phone even when not connected to wifi..you can minimize all your applications and the phone will not even slow down...you can copy and paste full text also..the battery life is also amazing i can have it for about 3 to four days running without charging.and the camera is also ok considering its a 2mp.i would rate this phone 8/10 because of the 2mp camera(only if they put a 3mp) and also because of the music function that it lacks .it just has a music player they should have installed the N73 music player.smash.swaziland.

a phone made for what they are supposed to do: TALK! if you don't wanna look like a total computer freak with gadgets and stuff etc. etc. and you wanna look like a serious person... then e51 is the best choice. and the price for the quality of the handset...to good to be true.:) P.S. Voip proved to be extremely useful to me and it reduced me the costs of my bills with more than 50%... great job nokia! yea, that's true. My phone used to last me 5 days average. 7 days the most. the SE W810i. But nowadays I listen to radio with loudspeaker . and very long. then i got to charge almost everyday. although i don't mind cos i'm changing phone soon. This phone, e51 camera-free will be great for my dad, his company doesnt allow camera phone although his colleagues are all using them secretly.

It's really too bad the E51 has such mediocre (read: bad!!) earpiece, otherwise I'd give this phone a 9/10 and easily claim this to be one of the best phones on the market. The earpiece low volume and interference is a big problem with this model as with many other Nokias. If you're using bluetooth or wired earpiece, you can hear person you're speaking with very clearly... if not - you can barely hear anything in the earpiece through the interference or buzzing. It's a real shame that so many Nokia phones suffer from this same problem!

I've looked alot for a good cameraless phone but couldn't find a better phone than this one since Nokia is the only brand who makes business camera-free phones with full features. actually there are some other phones but not as complete as this phone. You might want to check E61 and E62 as well.

There was a non-camera version available recently below the Nokia E51 with camera for Dhs 1033. I had asked them about that a week or two ago and they said it was not available and that the information on site might be wrong. It was changed after that.

For your information, there are actually a lot of companies that don't allow cameras in their phones. Did you know that if you have a camera out in Wal-Mart, they can ask you to put it away? Some places don't mind calls, but don't want you to be able to take pictures of potentially sensitive areas like security (ie - my place of work)

Go to the camera area in the specifications provided and it's written ''NO'' which invariably mean it has no Camera. It doesn't mean that a camera will be provided for you when you purchased one. Nokia still remains the best in mobile phones production in the whole world. Those that complain of the battery should always have a spare in case one is low and replace with the spare. Limit the use of mobile phones to making, receiving calls, sending messages as at when due, listen to news if it has FM Radio, take few important photos, access your email and send. These, when restricted to, you will enjoy the battery. Not only applicable to Nokia phones, applicable to all phones and including other appliances that uses batteries. Don't use your phone for long music playing, recording of music, videoing for long time, heavy use for taking pictures, frequent downloadings, etc. The battery will deplete as soon as possible. Did all of you actually think Nokia made this phone camera-free for the market which they can't have cameras in their phones?? If it is such a top secret environment, what on earth made you think they would be allowed a personal phone?? Here's what I think happened. Nokia made this phone at a factory in Tijuana and someone stole the camera meant to be installed. They had to come up with something due to the pressure from Nokia Corporate so they didn't wait for the camera apparato.

Not very sure with other countries but this phone is already out in Singapore. I have been using E60 before switching to this phone. Other than the smaller physical size, the speed is really one great improvement with better buttons layout. It is a must buy for those E60 user looking for similar upgrades.

I just want to know when/where you can buy this - it's been 3 months since Nokia announced it! All they're doing is taking the camera out. My E60 is ok, but the memory issues and decreasing responsiveness (as the mem card gets full). This is the only option for a full-featured non-PDA/qwerty phone. I would consider pre-ordering it, but the prices are outrageous, usually $100 more than the regular E51, for a phone that is supposed to list for $100 less. BTW, I first tried to post this from my E60, but the browser blew out when I got a phone call :(

Im shocked that there is an id1ot who would complain about this when there is a Camera version below. Certain workplaces, Companies,some small businesses, labs etc. . . Have rules NOT to carry Cameras and Camera Phones in to their premises and the people who work at these places need Smartphones that do NOT HAVE a camera. The E60, E61, and E51-Camera Free are 3 NOKIA S60v3 devices that fill this gap, SE also have some like the M600 and W950, i think HTC and i-Mate also have some phones like the Jaq that fill this gap. Tried everything to get free voip call over wlan with fring, skype msn and yahoo. Just got ring only and no phone voice both sides. Enabled video conference over GSM paid service and got phone voice and video reception but since no second camera only my voice was transmitted without picture For camera version only as this one has no camera ). The Idea of "Camera-Free" means that there is no camera on this phone or no camera that comes with it. It suits some industries where security could be breached with camera phones. If you want a camera buy the Normal E51....

To everyone complaining about the lack of camera: If you have noticed in this forum are many postings that explain why this`phone hasn�t any camera. It�s clear that there are jobs where the cameras aren�t allowed. So please read first and stop the critizism. There are other phones without camera like the E50, E61 and the low end ones. If you don�t like it go for the E51 with camera.

clear reason for non cameras model: in some areas it is prohibited to have camera. for examples: government, military, public swimming pools etc. and even the best phone camera is uncomparable with almost any entry level sony, kodak, canon camera (those cameras have way better glass lenses. it is wise decision to have at least one top model without camera for nokia or any other brand. since E51 is business model it is convenient for business people who travel to, e.g. in libia or morocco

Hello please feedback. Does the phone becomes very hot after using it for 5mins or more. The slim model nokia 6120C gets very hot after 5 mins of usage.Sent for repair but still the same. Literally burnt the ear. Kindly feedback before I buy this phone. Thanks.

to those who continue to whine about the lack of camera: just cut it out okay? Get the E51 with a cam. Or get the N-series phones. Or virtually any of thousands of handsets out there from any god-forsaken manufacturers out there. In virtually any form or size or shape. As far as I'm concerned, the cam-free E51 is a blessing for people in certain kinds of jobs like me.

The Eseries are great phones but I had to give away mine (I had two: E50 and E65) because they would pull my ear`s hair. And it hurts! Why can`t Nokia design another earpiece for these phones? Untill that happens, I won`t buy another Eseries...

Actually, now that's a phone. I don't agree with photo camera to call somebody. I can call with a simple phone. Hope that Nokia has remediated the uncomfortable sound when pressing the upper corner of the screen with this new model. If that's so you've got the right successor of 6310i which is for me the PHONE! Nokia rules. Kiss ya! now i'm going for it! :D

Phone's cameras are for enthusiasts and teenagers, not for serious businesses people. Those teen's phones had bad camera quality and higher prices. I prefer a real phone, and a real camera. So, this Nokia rocks!

come on!! want camera then u should buy the camera equipped E51.. not this... some people just don't understand people who cant have a camera phone.. one example is in the army... u can bring a N95 with all the camera goodies to the army and ending up begging a friend for a call because it is confiscated!!!

NO! camera and what's the year today it's already 2008 and there's no camera for this phone! what a ugly phone! and camera is very important in a phone did you know that? first when you went outing with your friends, family, etc. there's no camera for you to take pictures of them bec. there's NO camera and second when you want to take a important picture you want to take for example a particular place you want to take a picture of it! how could you take that nice seen if you don't have a camera on your phone and Nokia should atleast created camera for this phone

Answer to a nameless guy (part 2): What makes it a business phone is the Symbian OS (including the Office apps.) No one said it is better than HTC or another mobile phone it is just one of many. Maybe one difference from HTC phones is the price.

I don't understand why people are stating "its a business phone you don't need a camera." What exactly is a business phone? Does the phone make money for you? Can it edit excel files do your taxes or something? are you able to comply with competitors for your business cause of your phone? Answer to the nameless guy: In some companies it is corporate policy not to allow cameras in the office area. This is the reason why Nokia develops such variations.

Ok. Looks wise. i think it looks great, though compared to say the Samsung E590, this looks like... Jen Hawkins compared to cactus. :) this should sell well with the business types not interested in camera etc etc. looks wise though, loves it.

It's funny that the uneducated people don't understand why there is a non camera version of a BUSINESS handset. I'm not in a business where I can't have a camera but I fully understand why they did this. Hell not like the 2mp camera on the e51 i got is any good. I'd almost rather not have the camera.

The reason why they launch this camera-free version is that in some companies you cannot have a (business) phone with camera. By releasing this one they expand their market for this excellent phone (i have the e51 with camera)

If I'm correct, Nokia did the same thing with E50. There's a camera version and a non-camera version. Nokia is really diversifying their range. Great marketing strategy. Just like what they did with Nokia N81 8GB and standard N81. BTW this is a compliment.
