Greetings Nokia Fans! Have a query for you? My dad has had my old faithful E71 for a good few years now but now needs to move onto a newer phone on the Android platform in order to use apps like Whatsapp and Gmail for everyday use. Therefore my question is: What's the best way to sync and transfer his data onto a PC? I used Nokia Suite back in the day but couldn't find it supported on Nokia's website :( Cheers for any advice and help x

There is not any site to reinstall offline ovimaps! My maps won`t start in this phone after factory reset! Yes, Microsoft wanted to kill all like we used these phones for them somewhere in... antiquity maybe in 70-s or 80-s! And some 5 years ago I could still find them selling (yes, these symbians!) in some shops! To clean all as never existed - what a shame and unseriosness for your former buyers/users, you (old) Nokia... disconnecting people!

I noticed browser/email won`t connect anymore any site starting https://... Microsoft killed all in symbian and Nokia was not interested to keep their customers as promised until 2016! What unseriousness! And the new present Nokia is not what it was original company, just only a Chinese stuff!

Such was temptations that I was getting dreams to buy this phone , and some how managed buy this . It was one of best experience , that time I was using nimbuzz and ovi store to use all apps and themes . Kallol themes , but in the year 2014 due to some reason I have to sell this phone . I have been using this phone for about 7 years now (bought it in 2010 I think) and the battery just died today. I am sure that if I could find another one, this phone would live up 7 more years. The AZERTY keyboard is just what I prefer (I don't like the tactile screens of nowadays: when you got cold fingers or that it is rainy, it's a real pain to type anything). My E71 went through everything: shocks, water spills, staying in the bathroom was I was having a shower, falling from 1.66 meters, being accidentally thrown over the room when I tripped over my feet, falling on the gravels (just minor scratches) from 1.66 meters. Seriously Nokia/HMD Global, you should definitely give another shot at this phone, because we are in serious need of phones meant to live for decades, not just for 2-3ish years. We need it, and the shortage of natural resources, as well as the protection of Earth should be enough incentive to do it.

No , whatsapp stop service for nokia s40, s60/ symbian. If you want to use whatsapp for longer time please choose : android smartphone (at least that can run android kitkat), apple smartphone (at least that can run IOS 9).

WhatsApp has extended their S60 support until the end of June 2017. So WhatsApp should work on Nokia E71 until next summer at least. I no longer get the annoying reminder on my E71 when I open WhatsApp. E71 since 2008 and still going strong!

Google search "Opera Mobile Web Store" or "Ovi Store" on Internet and open the Opera Mobile Store Page. Search "Opera Mini" in the search box and download it. After downloading, it will be in your "Applications" folder. Open it and you then will have the free dom to go to YouTube and many other websites.

I have had this E71 phone for 5 years now, and I have a lot of notes ('notes'' symbol is two yellow sheets of paper, in the 'office' section) in it, but I don't know how to get them out of the phone, so that I have it on my computer. It's very important, and I'm afraid this device will one day (soon) die, so I must find a solution to get my writings before it happens. Thank you. I can just tell you I know it's not in the Micro SD data because I can still see the notes when I take it out of the phone, so it's must be in the internal memory. I once managed to extract some notes by mailing them to myself, but it doesn't work anymore and it's long, and neither bluetooth works. Please help me !

First U Have to Open Media, then click on real player. In the Real Player 1st open the settings now click on video and press right button, then open network in this setting u have to set the access point..... And in time u select un limited,, now videos are played..

Yeah. It is really a good phone. It is horrible for anything else. But talk and texting ... excellent. I am still using it. With one charge it holds entire week. It is amazing that it still works after 8 years. It worth every penny I spend on it.

The phone technology this days has gone far and fast that the e71 is far behind time in times of speed and latest apps but I am suggesting if the Nokia group can make another e71 leaving all its functions mostly the Ovi map and GPS apps inside. This phone is AMAZING. It dropped at least a thousand times already and continues to work fine, not losing signal, always on, best battery life... GPS working, Whatsapp, FB... I plug it and use it as Mass Storage Device... this is the best... such a shame I can't install more apps... so far "Brain Banana" it's been an excellent option to entertain me... I could install the iRemote to use the iR with my TV but I can't buy it and my demo it's gone... if anyone knows how to make the iR to work, please share. This phone is a classic.

Actually I also had it, but after a factory reset I can't find the right version of it. I think it has been nearly 6 yrs when my dad bought this fone...... And after my Nexus 4 broke I found this one in a dusty condition and totally drained battery. I thot this cell will never work; but after 1 nd half hour of charging, i just power it on & voila it was fully Functional. Well using it for 1 week after my N4 broke. Hell yeah this fone is still functioning like hell.... No battery replacement in the life span of 6 yrs & counting.... Getting nearly 2 days of battery life with heavy Internet browsing on 3G.... A bit slow.... But not anywhere near LAG.....well to be honest about camera, we are now habituted of megapixels, HDR's, OIS; but this fone camera is just not willing to quit the battlefield, working good same as when this cell was new....... I did forget to mention about this one's keyboard sturdy & compact...... And metallic design, way beyong towards plastic, polycarbonate...... This phone should be a slap on the face of today's generation smartphones & power hunger SoC's which makes phone unusable after a certain period of time. Nokia you were the best smartphone maker in the world & you will be.... Whatever the today's chart or number shows. Nokia's devices has always been best in one thing & they will be.... That is CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Generally, devices from Nokia has always been best in one thing i.e customer satisfaction, which now a days is in short supply. Salute you Nokia.

look every comment guys posted here. u can see that every comment is postive and they are using their fone for years.. for about me, i have to say the same, using this amazing fone for last 4 years.. *no battery replacemnt till time *stil working good *whatsapp and fb and supporting all leading apps *using as a modem with my pc *heating when overusing, but excusable *u can use 3rd party apps to use front camera (which is only availble for veedio call by according to firmware *qwerty keypad is one and only reason im still stick into this fone despite of cheap lava micromax asus etc like fones *wifi availble,, sorry to say no hotspot option, ( i donno if 3rd party apps can do this) *u can browse faster (use opera mini or uc browser instead of inbuilt browser *i dont have any plan to stop using this fone as long as fone working better *3.2 mpx camera quite good *mobile tv and real time streaming works good *also Youtube apps or links works well, speed may be according to ur n/w operator *email mailbox hasnt faced any problem *barcode reader is useful for web.whatsapp.com like webpages and wechat on pc *nimbuzz like apps are helps to use voip( voice over internet protocol) with clear streaming *u can use screenshot apps for print screen *office file like word excel can be viewable and editable also printable using blutooth printer * u can unzip zipfile by inbuilt app * pdf is readble *gps and google map and compass working good , u are very helpful while traveling * fm radio and internet radio will let u relaax *ovi store is ther to explore app collection im quit busy now.. have to attend in a meeting.. i have to say something more.. meet u soon .. bye now

Turn off your Phone press and hold *, 3, call button. while pressing the 3 Keys turn on the phone until the phone boots. it will ask you of setting country then date and time. let go of the 3 keys and proceed. [this process does not need reset code] The Hard reset, will delete everything on your phone, make sure you've backed-up your phone -- and removed the SIM and MSD card -- prior to hard reset. This will also make your reset code back yo it's default setting [12345]. Hope this helped you.

You Cannot download skype or tango on this mobile. If u can, u r not able to make video call. The only application for videocall which support this mobile is Firing. Download it frm store.ovi.mobi . Firing also support free voice call. For voice call u can download nimbuzz from the same site, it act same as viber.

This phone is beautiful, despite it's age is by far one of the best looking and feeling devices I've ever owned. The OS ran fine and I never had any issues with connectivity (BT, Wifi, USB). On a 3G connection this phone still loads pages and streams video great. Camera is very good and was even able to do decent video calling. However it's not a perfect phone. The power button on my phone broke and remained pressed in the downward position (after some research this appears to be pretty common with this phone) this did not effect actual use of the phone as I rarely needed to use the button which makes me question why it broke so easily. Using the old style charger was no treat either especially since Nokia decided to use the SMALLEST diameter socket. This plug for has been replaced 3 times for me. It's annoying to see that the phone clearly has a USB port which uses a standard connection (great to have) but is only capable of data and not capable of charging the phone. Perhaps one of the WORST things about this phone was it's limited call log space. For a business phone this is very disappointing. I make and receive many calls throughout the day and not having a reliable log of those calls was probably the worst annoyance of all. This phones log is limited to 20 calls and once the next call comes all the data from the first call gets pushed into nothingness. I've had to call my provider a few times to get logs because the phone just didn't work for that. If you want a beautiful, unique(old) phone that handles email/texts well with a good camera for impromptu photos or video calling (and don't mind the dated OS) it's a great deal. But if you handle loads of calls that you need to keep track of, it's NOT for you.

From the time I purchased my E71 my life has never been the same. I have enjoyed being on phone. E71 has got lots og goodies. 1. Its multi tasking just works wonders. One can be able to minimise pages and browsers and come back to then later. 2. The how its battery works. It has long life if fully charged. Its a big battery which has storage capacity that enables one to work for extra hours. 3. The keyboard is amazing and i like the speed that one can go on this kind of keyboard. 4. One is able to write and store documents whether in Word form, PDF, PowerPoint and Spreadsheet. Editing is quite fantastic. 5. Installation of application is as easy as drinking water. 6. the phone has sensors that helps your phone save battery and when its night the phone will automatically switch to night mode.. 7. Whats App works just so nicely. CHALLENGES 1. The camera on this phone is so pathetic. When its night the photos are all green. 2. When one taken a photo, the phone does not permit you to edit them. 3. Its music player leaves alot to be desired..... It is so basic and Nokia needs to make music player atleast attractive because this generation demands a quality phone which has got attractive applications as well 4. The Video player does not give you a chance to play videos in other formats apart from MP4 and 3GP. 5. The camera at the front is not used if one wants to take own photo using the front camera. I wish it was useable. 6. The quality of the photos from an E71 leaves alot to be desired.... Poor quality. CONCLUSION They are things like these that make one make a choice on which phone to purchase. So next time improve on the short comings noted.

absolutely love the e71. great functionality, excellent quality, and call clarity so good most people think I'm on a landline. definately recommend this phone. I bought mine years ago, and have since purchased several more, one for my receptionist, and one for each of my veterinary nursing staff, and everyone seems happy with them. the e71 is a great phone, so there really aren't any cons, except maybe that nokia's ovi store app seems finicky sometimes but then again, that's nokia's servers, not the phone. sure there are pricier faster phones, but the e71 does everything both me and everyone who works at my vet clinic need it to and more. I am very pleased with the E71 and will buy another one if/when mine ever wears out. :)

Afer 4 years of use this is my opinion: Bad: A verry complicated phone to use, from calls to email evrything is complicated, it flags often. I am writing this after using the phone for 3 years as my main device (2008-2011), and recently used it for a few days when my HTC Desire Z failed me. This device is a marvel of engineering for its time (2007). Even today using it for Facebook and Gmail its great. Sure, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Galaxy S3 or HTC One X, but you can get it dirt cheap nowadays. Its built sturdy, can survive the apocalypse. It communicates quickly and easily. Fring for chatting, Skype for VOIP. It syncs (MFE) easily with my gmail and calendar. It even has a few nice games to kill time with: Tetris Revolution, Tower Bloxx 3d, Pacman, Snakes, TwinSpin, Bubble Bobble, Pang, Worms World Party. It does wired tethering successfully with a windows 7 pc. It plays music via stereo bluetooth headset. What it doesn't do well: Web Browsing (Nokia browser and Opera work, choppy) Online Video (Youtube works, choppy) Camera (works, but looks bad) The need for the additional 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter is annoying, and the need for a special program for torch mode is also silly. But besides that, its still a solid phone today, especially since you can get it used for ~30usd on ebay.

The front camera can not be activated without a third-party software. If you can use this camera, the quality is quite terrible. On the other hand, the main camera is very good with bright light. no my friend, symbian not supported videocalling in 3G data. But, support video calling through 3G network.

My e71,s camera is very good. You just have to keep it very still. I have photographed a bumblebee in flight with it, very nearly freezing the wing motion!

Hi...does anyone know how to stop E71 keys going into lock mode when inactive for a while? I know how to release the keyboard from lock mode but I want to cancel this annoying action completely. Also is it normal for this phone to switch off completely when inactive for a while? I would like to cancel this feature as well...help pleaseeee...:)

I have had this phone for over 2 years and have been carrying it like a bad marriage ! Battery life is average, esp with 3G. Small screen. Impossible to read in bright light/sunlight. Bluetooth is dodgy. Internet browser is crap. Qwerty key-board is congested. Auto text correct punches in bizarre words. Unable to read 8Gb card, hence I have been putting up with the 2Gb card that came with the phone. Would never recommend this to anyone. Thank my stars, its time for my divorce !
