rushplayer can playe all videos except very high resolution ones, but it is slow

it can play mp4 videos mpeg4 like ones you record, but it can't play ones like from youtube which are h264, nokia x7 can play both, so maybe if one file was copied from that firmware it would work

You can try "Any Video Converter". In the program there should be options like "Nokia mobile" for converting, or mobile format with .mp4. Set resolution to 640x360 and FPS to 25. Good luck.

for playing different types of video format you can try out coreplayer...I have never use any s60v5 phones but as it support many s60v3 apps you may try it out.I used it on my nokia 6120 classic and nicely run 3gp,mp4(360p,720p),avi,flv,h.263...didn't try out hd video yet

I bought this phone back in 2009. It was a sad sad phone. It was supposed to be the flagship of Nokia. It represents everything that went wrong in that company. After using this expensive garbage for 6 months with constant freezes (could not even surf the web over 5 minutes due to low RAM) I just had to slam it on the wall, which resulted in broken screen. I have been using samsung phones ever since.

I am using this phone since year 2010 i.e., from last 3 years. I have found this phone quite useful apart from few drawbacks here and there. sunlight legibility is very poor and outdoors under direct sunlight it's very difficult to operate. Another drawback is the lack of video codec support in the default media player. All third party software such as smartmovie, tweaked version of coreplayer, UC player failed to show the desired result and video played through them either turned out to move too slow or were choppy. However, on a positive side I must say that it has got a decent camera with powerful flash, useful 8 GB mass memory and a solid metallic body. I am using garnet color and it's metallic body gives me a premium feel unlike phones these days which are made of plastics.

Opera Mini and Opera Mobile should work fine on the N97 mini. I don't have an N97 but I am running Opera Mobile on a Symbian S60 device with no problems. Opera is a much better browser than the inbuild Nokia browser in my opinion.

No, there is not possible to play any common video files like *.avi, *.mpg, etc. It has just 434 MHz CPU, what is too less to play normal video... The only solution is to convert videos to supported formats... Very good phone - 5/5 stars :) just battery life is a little bit poor

i dont have such problem and im using wifi alot it has never happened to me it connects in seconds and once you connect to a wifi connection it wont loose it. try this: menu-setting-connectivity-wlan then it will find available wifi connections and shows signal strenght

I have it for 18 months. After 2 months it started to get all kinds of memory issues, no application opened in background but it was still asking me to close apps due to low memory. After I upgraded the OS, it started to go crazy, to consume battery in 4-5 hrs, the calls history was getting deleted every 45-120 minutes with no action from my side. I love the way it looks , but after it's too crappy , it hangs a lot , when I was using internet the device was restarting every 10-20 minutes . So I don't recommend to buy it . Probably it would be much better if they would place in it some stronger CPU , at least 600 mhz and 512 ram , then maybe it would work as it's supposed to .

The N97 mini is a great N-series cell phone form Nokia. I like the form factor-has a convien QWERTY keyboard and with its slide-tilt design makes typing comfortable and fast. The resistive touchscreen is fine-you need to press a bit harder to choose something, unlike on say iPhone which has a capacitive screen. It's a nice snapper too with a 5MP autofocus camera featuring a quality Carl Zeiss Tessar f2.8 lens-even has a dual LED flash for shooting in low-light conditions which gives good illumination. The autofocus works brilliantly, capturing nice and sharp macro photos as well as landscape, portraits,etc. While not near the likes of the 808 with a 26mm wide-angle lens, the N97 lens is wide enough. Lots of options for shooting-from a 18 frame burst mode, to ISO and WB settings and a handful of preset scene modes (there's a M setting to save your favorite options). Easy to record video too-not HD but saves in MP4 format.

how big is the file you are trying to copy? if it is over 4gb then you wont be able to copy it over, the filesystem on the device is fat32 which only accepts the copying of files smaller than 4gb. i hope this helps

This is a complete wastage of money. Phone keep saying "Memory full, close some applications" whereas I don't have them running all the time. It is its RAM issue that get overloaded everytime we open any app but RAM doesn't flush itself unless we do a reboot or use some 3rd party apps to flush it. Navigation is slow. Bluetooth strucks quite often. Browser gets itself closed automatically during usage. Unable to un-install apps preloaded into phone memory. OVI map or GPS facility rocks but keep poping up with a message "Memory full" repeatedly and closes itself after a while. However Music is extremly good, Camera picture and flash quality are its major strenghts. QWERTY keyboard with slider facility enables to you sport some style. Video quality is almost HD. It supports motion sensor games. OVI map is one of the best feature it has got. Being a smart phone it must have had a good RAM to support its features. Overall it would say "Worst ever phone to use".

Sorry to hear that. I've had my N97 mini for almost two years now and I never had any charging problems like yours. And almost 200 apps and games on my device to date, and I'd say they installed rather well. No, I am not exaggerating. Even posting this using my Mini. You can never really say that it's the worst mobile, and shout out that it would fail for everyone like it did for you, because obviously it didn't. I guess some of us just know better how to use and troubleshoot rather than whine. :)

The thing is the N97 mini has more stacked against it. It is the smaller versn of the N97 classic so people will constantly be watching what Nokia took out 2 make the mini(FM transmitter, 32gb internal etc.) even though they cost almost the same. then there's the fact that it is a higher quality phone than te 5800. The 5800 is lower in the price ladder with almost the same features no naturally it will b praised while the mini criticized, even though the mini is far superior. I should also point out 2 you that they don't run the same OS. The 5800 doesn't have the same home screen nor the same abilities to customize said homescreen. But one thing that the 5800 has that few phones can defeat is audio output. The 5800 is known for its gr8 sound both from its 2 speakers and from the 3.5mm jack. They are louder and clearer that the 2 speakers on the mini. The mini's biggest downfaal is that Nokia didn't make enough improvements over the N97 classic. So almost all the hate for the classic was transfered to the mini and then amplified by the fact that they mini has so many features excluded in it from the classic.

Symbian does in fact support skype video-calling, but skype is yet to allow it. It did work well once upon a time with the aid of fring, but skype forced them to hault because they didn't want the competition. At 1st skype didn't care that fring was allowing video calling with skype but when the iPhone 4 was launched and fring made a version 4 the iOS that was the last straw and skype forced them 2 remove the skype video call option or face legal action. But there are rumours that skype will be allowing video calling for symbian^3 and later devices, but there will likely never be skype video calling for S60 :(

My friend, sure it is posible video-calling with this Nokia, and the easiest way by using Fring. com, it does wery well, there is lot of other software that can do this nokia video calling and direct nokia phone video view. Adnan and anyone of you who are using Nokia symbian phones...if you are using Symbian phone like this, than you shall look at nokia symbian perspective software, and not be releated to apples and androids of whot they do and what they use...because that phones are comercial for profiters at large and not for eco-people...., but if you can't stand than go for droids and apples, but they will cost you lot of money on allmost every funny thing you will want to try on your phone thrugh their phone market. For web video calling get some software from freesoftware.eu or similar sites the apps, qik, fring, nimbus or similar, sens i can't remember by names this apps right now...so good luck.

Hey Bryan I just thought I should inform you that spb mobile shell lite is available for FREE in the app store. I just saw it a couple of days ago and downloaded it and it works fine, it looks like the same full version I had before and I can't find a difference so I don't know why it has 'lite' in the name. Maybe it is easier on the RAM :) (after my recent reset the spb mobile that I got third party doesn't work). The region I'm in doesn't get access to all the apps so if this one is available to me it should be there for everyone so check it out. I'm happy Nokia finally signed it, hopefully they are injecting new life into the app store. I saw that post about voyager or what ever it's name is and I can tell you for sure that it isn't anywhere close to as fun and cool spb mobile shell is. Let me know if you get it and how you like it.

Hi to this guys who is having problems with their N97mini look and it's usability. You shall check for firmware v30 i have rebuilt and fixed speed, anna grid layout and icons and cleaned uot from few uselles ads! Search for Alboooz fw on forum mobilesmania or dailymobile .se get the tools you need to flash your phone and you'll have super phone, but if you are not sure how to do, there is people who are willing to explain in forums, good luck.

To the best of my knowledge, it isn't harmful to the device but it may have side effects on long term use of the battery. Eventually the battery well develop memory of how long it usually lasts and will follow this. Example, if after a full charge you usually use heavy apps and kill the battery in about 4-5 hours then the battery will develop memory of this and will die about 5 hours after a full charge regardless of how much use it gets. My recommendation is to give it a break every now and then. Charge it and leave it aloe for as long as possible. Maybe even to die on its own. This should prevent it from developing memory. I charge my phone over night and leave it on my bed while I'm at school so That when I use it on the weekend it will last longer. As far as I know, your phone is safe but be wary of your battery. Hope that helped.

yeah I downloaded the full version for free about 2 weeks ago and I love it. I wish I had bookmarked the page I got it from because it's hard 2 get a copy that doesn't have a certificate error. The 1st two copies I got would't install 1st because it was unsigned, then due to some random certificate error. But I did eventually get it. Just google 'spb mobile shell free full' and you should eventually get a good one. But I must warn you, it is pretty RAM hungry and I found that I couldn't run more than 2 apps @ the same time (and this was right after a hard reset that I installed it) so if you already suffer that problem then this will get eveen worse. I don't even use it now because of that. So be wary

well I don't think Nokia will b producing anymore updates after v30 but regular people might still make a few custom firmwares.aside from that you can play with "spb mobile shell" the version i have is "3.7.498". U can google it 2 see what it is and download. U dont have to do any warranty voiding stuff. Just download and install, like an app and it changes ur layout almost completely. yeah the e90 is really a beast, but the only feature it has over the n97 mini is a 4" display which isn't even touch sensitive. alone with the old symbian 3. But they are completely different device. If one is completely dedicated to texting the the e90 is as good as it gets, but if u need an all round media device then the mini is the best. It's more feature rich, not to mention is looks better lol.

sorry bout that other post I accidently touched submit lol lol I like how enthusiastic u r but u r also very wrong when u said it has the same features as the c7, maybe u meant to say the c6 but the mini is better than the c6further more1. The c7 has a larger 3.5" amoled capacitive touch screen which is wayyyy better than the 3.2" resistive touch on the mini. Its more sensitive and the colors are much richer2. The c7 has gorilla glass which rocks but resistive touch screens cannot have gorilla glass and if it werent for me buying screen protectors then my screen would b in horrible condition3. The mini has two stereo speakers, the c7 doesnt. Which makes a big difference in sounce output quality4. The c7 takes up to 32gb memory cards the mini goes up to 16gb alog with twice the RAM5.the c7 has NFC support (just google it and u will see how cool it is)6. C7 has an 8mp fixed focus and the mini has a 5mp auto focus with advanced optics7. The c7 was launched with symbian^3 but updates to Anna and now Belle8. The c7 has a faster cpu and unlike the mini, the c7 has a dedicated gpu9. The c7 has usb on the go which is so awesome!!!10. The c7 also has an fm transmitter11. The mini has that gr8 qwerty keyboard (I'm writing this usingg that keyboard right now lol)so other than the camera, speakers and keyboard, the c7 is the much superior phone. So unless u reallly prefer qwerty physical keyboards than get the c7...

just go into with ur phone----setttings>phone management>device updates>options>check for updates with ur computer open nokia suite(connect phone an select suite when asked)>software updates> if there is an update for ur region u will see it here, if u already have the update or it isnt available for ur region nothing new will come up(if its not available for ur region it most likely means that nokia just doesnt care about u or the update is in a language that is inappropriate for u). My mini came with v12 but v30 rolled out after that. Sadly the udate was not for my region so my phone kept saying it was up to date, but I knew for a fact the new update was in english and nokia just didnt care about my region (i live in the caribbean btw) So my only solution was to either flash the update on with phoenix or get it from suite by tricking nokia into thinkn ur in another region. N.b. Flashing is dangerous and voids ur warranty, it can also destroy ur phone if any mistakes are made, so it should be ur last resort. But it is great for getting cool custom firmware PLEASE back up ur device before u do anything... 1. To flash it on u need to download the update with navifirm and then flash it on with phoenix(youtube will b ur friend and show u all about navifirm and phoenix) 2. And this is much more recommended. Using navifirm find ur phone, the update then the variation with the right language for u but DONT download, just look @ the product code showed in brackect as the end of the variation name (its supposed to start with a "05") then using NSS change ur phones product code to this new one and hard reset the device. Now plug into nokia suite and it should see ur phone an a new one. Now the update will magically be available to u. It might not work on the 1st changed product code as i had to change twice before the update worked (the 1st time the update kept getting an error) njoy. Please reply 2 let me know if it works...

just buy a composite cable(make sure one end is a 3.5 mm pic and the other side splits off into the 3 colors red, yellow and white) plug it into ur phone and tv and viola :). Not all cables work easily some u have to push all the way in and some u push only a certain amount. My tv-out works gr8 :) let me know if it works 4 u. N.b if u get any isseues menu>settings>phone>accessories>TV-O­ut Default profile: Active Profile TV aspect ratio: mines is normal TV system mines is PAL but it varies so NTSC might b whatg u need Flicker filter: turned mines off p.s. I dont mean to b disrespectful but ensure u have an original Nokia N97 mini if u wanna try this cuz chinese clones and dual sims dont have this function...

ive been using this phone for two years now... and now the battery drain much faster with heavy usage, i have to charge it twice a day. with the touch response, at first it was a mess but when the final update came out, i had no problem with it. so update your phone's software/firmware. downloading files, yes it can, you even run it on the background and for the internet connection, depends how fast your network provider or wifi... but i use wifi for faster connection speed.

A: I think the battery is ok, I am disappointed by it but idk how it compares to other smart phones (my dads iPhone 4 needs 2 charge every day and he only uses it 2 call ppl then my moms bb curve 9300 has 2 charge just as often but she gets a lot of emails), had it go 2 days on standby with about 4 hours of heavy use b4 I needed 2 charge it. But if I go out and listen to too much music for like 3 hours plus use a few apps on & off it will be dead 6 hours after a full charge. well i started using my n97 mini around 16 months ago...in starting it worked very well then a problem of auto switch off and on arised....and after some days another provlem arised which is of battery back up..... it has excellent gps feature.....all applications are not supported...it gets hang.....superb qwerty keypad....

I have my N97 mini since 17 months. A very bad smartphone compared with the other brands available now. The only advantage is its excellent GPS. I am nearly sure my next smartphone will not be a Nokia.

1st u need to clear up more memory atleast 85mb of RAM, its best ot just hard reset the damn thing lol. 2nd its all about the site u go to. some are very light and some with alot of flash intensive ads like the ones one low security sites or those with lots of large pics will eat ur memory up fast so always look 2wards mobile friendly sites...I hard rest my phone about a week ago and I havent gotten a full memory error since. The phone will move faster outside the browser as well...

well I have the mini and I love it. the key differences between the 2 are: DISADVANTAGES 1. the classic has 32gb built in against the mini's 8gb 2. the classic has a 3.5" screen against the mini's 3.2" 3. classic has camera lens protective slider mini has none 4. classic has FM transmitter which allows music to b broadcasted to any1 with a radio within a couple yards of u ADVANTAGES 1. The mini has a slightly more responsive touch screen 2. bcuz both screens have the same resolution the mini has a higher pixel density meaning cleaner picture 3. the mini has a much more high grade build to it, with a metal back cover. Neutral 1. the classic has D-pad navigation but the mini has 4 arrows and an enter key(its up to u which u prefer) Like I said, I really like my mini and no1 can stop the love I have 4 it. But just the other day I saw a tall friend of mine and he saw my phone and took pulled a N97 classic out his pocket and said to me "Everything about small boy" hahahaha. Which made me think that the greatest disadvantage to having the mini is that its just the smaller version of another phone :(...

yes, that's why it has a frnt facing camera. but ur mobile carrier needs to support its use. i cant video call bcuz my carrier doesnt have support for the function. but when u go in2 ur contacts and select one to call the phone will ask if it should make a video call or normal voice call...

ok, well in that case the phone should last about a day for you. It would easily last longer if it weren't for the fact that it automatically looks for WiFi ALL DAY!!!... There is no way to stop it, the most you can do is makes it search for WiFi every 10 minutes instead of every 1 minute :/. This really draains the battery, especially if you are always near a WiFi hotspot. And worse yet if you are connected. For example I conneted to my WiFi at home and now everytime I enter my house it connects, now this may seem convienient and it usually is, but for people that already have a low battery or have a data sim it will just be an unneccessary drain on energy (that can't be stopped). So the phone will last you a day or so but if you plan on not being near a power outlet of some sort (computer, wall plug, car charger) everyday then you better have a spare battery. Lol...

I have had the nokia n97 mini for qiet a while now, the bad thing with the nokia n97 is the slide.... when i open the slide to view the keypad i have to press very hard or else it dont open..and on closing the slide my finger always get stuck...i also have to press very hard..on the touchscreen to get it going...or selse it dont work...i wish i had a different phone now... i wouldnt really recommend this phone to anyone whos looking for a touchscreen and qwerty....

I own the N97 mini and its a great phone. A few issues though 1. Resistive touch screen-although it is one of the best resistive touch screens you cab find on a phone, it still isn't a capacitive touch and that hurts to think about. 2. CPU- I don't know how to root, modify or hack a phone so I am stuck with stock specs and although the phone handles well it could really have been faster, I have used other phones with slower CPU's and they actually move faster. This leads me to believe either Nokia has prevented the CPU from operating at full capacity or the Symbian OS is just not fully using it, I'm sure it can be much faster. 3. Battery- Now before I bought this phone I heard the battery was bad but I bought it anyway. My battery lasts over a day when on stand-by but I love to listen to music and browse the web so on the weekend when I don't have school my battery will last about 6 maybe 7 or 8 hours if I'm lucky. I heard that I could by a more powerful battery, reset the one I have(which I don't know how to do) or get some battery booster to solve this problem but I think Nokia could have just given me a better battery from the get go. 4. Symbian S60 is a pleasure to use but it just isn't that pretty. It lacks the animations that I like to see on Iphones and it just isn't as bright and colorful, plus it lags alot 5. Nokia Apps- I no longer live in the USA and I am angered by the fact that Nokia does not allow people in the Caribbean full access to all the Apps available. A simple App like Windows Live Messenger was blocked when I tried to download so I had to get it from a third party website. SO I pretty much have to risk my phone to viruses to get a simple App the Nokia is offering to other countries for free. 6. The RAM is inadequate for the use of more than 2 or 3 Apps at the same time. If I try the phone will close one or all without my consent or freeze and then close all without my consent smh. 7. Did I mention it's resistive in the touch screen department? smfh. Other than that it's a really good phone. I would only trade it in for a newer model such as the E7, and that's only if there was no way to fix 2 or 3 of the issues above. On paper the Xperia pro looks pretty good, better than the N97 mini and I might just trade mine in for it but Symbian is something you can't just turn your back on, it's just that comfortable to use. the question is whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Sooo fed up with this phone. It's SO slow - the graphics take a few seconds to update sometimes. When you're trying to answer a call, it's very annoying. The slide key-lock seems to bounce and it unlocks straight away after locking. Connecting via USB to computer, the first time it will not start charging. So you have to unplug it and plug in again, and then it starts charging. I'm ending my contract early and paying $180 to buy myself out so I can change phones!

Maybe your battery need to reset...than let the phone play music or something till the battery is completely empty and the phone turns off by itself, than plug the wall charger cable, and let it charge during the night, than in morning switch on your phone. If still problem than maybe battery pack need bay new one.

I got this phone in May last year..and I must admit, this is 1 of d most horrible phones ever. I dont even feel like listing the number of defects it has, coz ther r many many of them. It gets extremely slow after a few weeks of use (i've used only about 1.5 GB of the 8GB memory), network issues (i own 2 phones with sim cards of same service provider, and on most occasions, N97 doesnt get the network while other phone does), Horrible battery back up (i dont listen much to the music), on some occasions even if ther's a call, the phone doesnt ring, vibrate or light up n Later it shows as missed call. My suggestion, its a total waste of money. Dont go for it.

I just took a HTC PRO 7 back to the shop for a refund because it was rubbish when the qwerty keypad was opened the menu stayed on its side what is that all about? So untill someone comes up with a qwerty slide phone that fits in your pocket and dose everything from bbciplayer to free satnav to fast browsing (Opra) to updated on the go Email all in a slick little laptop style phone I am going sim only deal and going to get cheep calls/internet on my lovely to use N97 mini

Sorry pal, you don't seem to know much about N97mini...you just seem to run for speed and shutting angry birds! I agree with you that it does not look fast and bla-bla-bla when you first bay from shop...but real symbian users fix this problems later by hacking and modifying the firmware...! We now use the ported nokia Belle browser on N97mini and N5800xm or opera, bollt, UC-browser that blows your android away considering that so called "slow CPU". N97mini is like having more than just laptop on your pocket, it has fine cameras, free GPS, STEREO Speakers buddy and beautiful qwerty keyboard that you android it just does not have at this quality...it's really productive and it work's! I have try my brothers SGII few days, speed and flooding screens looks great, browsing nada...very often crash, and crash when ever is something important to write comments on blogs and when i was dowloading on background so it was annoying, only one from twenty or more attempt to d-load i made...and now you can offer me not one, but two SGII or two apple...i will not give my N97mini for them...

If you really think N97 mini is "good" then you have definetly never ever used any Android! N97 mini is one of the worst phones ever with very slow cpu and not enough ram and very unsensitive screen and very bad/slow browser! Nokia make good phone shells/casings but Nokia always have outdated bad hardware inside their phones! N97 mini is also too expensive because today even Galaxy S is less expensive! And if you must have a hardware keyboard then you should buy SonyEricsson Pro, even though that is actually a rather bad option but definetly very much better than N97 mini!

I live in Trinidad & Tobago (in the Caribbean) and I know for a fact that the firmware update has been out for a while but when ever I "check for updates" it comes up with no new updates. i can see that u probably google it too. if you owned the phone you would see that it is one of the best resistive touch screens out. i own it and i know this for a fact. the thing is its inconsistent, because in some situations like using the web or music player it is really gud but then if im playing a third party game i need to press alot harder. its not as good as a capacitive touch and that shouldnt be expected.

E7 and N97 mini have the same screen-resolution, 640x360! E7 is more than twice as expensive but the Symbians looks almost the same, even though changes are mostly only about changed looks. E7 CPU and gpu and ram is better, but still very far from "good"! E7 is very heavy!

Had this brand new fone for three weeks now. First a lot of problems ! Hanging, unable to open bluetooth files, unable to assign contact pics and also on home screen. Fully charged battery lasted just one night. Next morning it would be dead!!! After formatting and resetting, a great improvement and everything works well now. With moderate use, battery lasts for at least four days and connectivity has improved. What a relief !!!

I've been using this device for over a year now and it has served me well. I've gotten my moneys worth and more out of this little guy and its still pumping blood through it's veins. I've got over 1000 tunes on the mem card. I have it paired with the SYNC feature in my car and rock for hours and hours without ever having to fumble for a fresh CD. one thing I kept holding on to my Nokia N97mini is because of the good quality photos its auto-focus camera can produce i have a samsung galaxy ace and ipod touch 4g, one advantage of the N97mini over these two is its dedicated shutter button, the shot is steadier

one year after, i can say the phone is generally handy though the ui isnt tweaked for landscape mode. too much wasted space (s^3 solved this) it does lag but its nothing i cant live with. an s^3/anna/belle phone with the same dimensions as the n97 mini would be nice

Hello! I've been using my N97 mini since last year. Was thinking of changing it soon already. Although, it still rocks, and I really love it. But after times of dropping my phone, its starting to become weird. Eg : The charging icon will starts to "charge" itself without any cable. And the charging light at the side, will also be on. But I can say that mine is quite durable. Since, I'm a careless user of electronics! But for sms-ing, camera etc, it is still really good! So N97 mini is really a good phone (: I want to buy this exact phone again but, I couldn't find it .. So I'm kind of in a dilemma of choosing a new phone or keep this N97 mini.

It doesnt show the missed call and recieved call entries and shows only the dialled calls list when I press the green call attend button. The missed call symbol in the top of the call register menu, doesnt respond to the touch and that is the problem with seeing the call register. Another problem is that the phonebook doesnt show the contact details and phone number. I've had my N97 mini for almost year now, and so far not having any problems with it aside of having occational lagging/ hang. I do almost all the tricks that this phone is capable of. I root it, install all the possible apps that suit it's potential, and so far it is pure awesomness. When i install the spb mobile shell about 5 months ago, it is not yet officially out, you need to crack it before installing. I also install N-desk and with only these 2 apps, your phone will transform into a different device. It runs very smooth, fast and as responsive as a capacitive touchscreen. Then i incorporate the HTC modification to it, so as of now, it looks like a combination of IOS, Android and windows OS. Really Love my N97 mini! Cheers!

I'm sorry to say but Nokia has gone down the drain lately. I used to have the 6310 that was a reliable mofo! Then N95 was pretty good too but *STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE N97 Mini* It is buggy even with all the updates that they've released (and when I say buggy I MEAN it: it would reboot randomly even after a full clean reset, if it didn't like a certain theme it would freeze, in fact it would freeze with many downloaded applications, some applications even disappeared from all the menu screens after a reboot), it's also very laggy, by about a second, it can get quite annoying especially if you think u didnt press the screen properly, u press it again, but it ends up pressing options on the next screen, oh and then the battery died within its first year. I must admit, the keyboard is my favorite part of this phone, it looks good too, but software wise, OS is garbage. Stay away from the N8 too, it has most of the same soft problems as the N97 even though its supposed to be a revamped symbian^3.... what a bunch of BS. Nokia, I used to be a loyal fan for your solid OS back in the day but my next phone will probably be a droid.

I just got the phone...its been 6 days and I love the device...at 1st I was sceptical due to all the negative post about it but now that I have it I coudn't be happier :)...the 1st day it did hit up alot but once it died and I gave it a full charge I haven't had the problem again...I'm in Trinidad and I paid TT$3,000 for it...A little lagging here and there but she works like a charm...If you want it get it bcuz you wont regret it...I just wish it had came with a TV-Out cable and maybe a silicon housing or carrying case...I'm looking 4ward to going home and playing with it lol :)...I'm so happy I didn't settle for the C6 or C7 XD...If you can't afford the E7 then this is the phone for you!!!!!...

You pres the red cancel button few seconds and the popup will show asking if you want to disconnect gprs data connection, but you have to check for wot software is trying to connect automatically and delete it or check for it's settings to not connect automatically on internet, it can be Fring, foursquare or Facebook...and if you have any active widgets on front screen that means is launched widgets and they are suppose to update activities throw internet connection, so remove them if they bother you,bcz there is always alternative solution to specific chat network.

adding to this, the phone cam has a better image, macro mode was really good. web browsing also went up since it doesn't heat up that much anymore and was able to do multiple window browsing with opera browser. kinetic scroll has a faster response and memory was boosted as well.. loving it much :)

I had mine now for almost half a year now. at first it was really disappointing.. the touch response is laggy and shuts itself down most of the time.. battery problems as well, heats up easily when I use an app or just charges it, drains quickly too lol.. but I found a boost pack for it, eversince my phone has been performing better than ever and no more issues as mentioned above and I have liked it so much now.. :)

I have my n97 mini for a year now, it suddenly started to reset it self quite a lot, it also hangs, freezes, battery don't last long. One of my friends also got the same problem. I took it in for repairs and is still having the same problem. It is a great phone but nokia must get new sofware for the phone, that repairs this problem.

Some guys is complaining about battery life on this phone, well is not that best maybe, but for the work you do in it all day around, music, web, chat and calls, is good enough, but you must learn how to use it, and wot apps and how to shot them down if you don't use permanently. If you are using Laptop USB to charge your N97mini, no NOT expect long battery life...! It is not the same as charging from laptop as it is from wall-charger, bcz the laptop USB gives about 100.mA power, while the wall-charger is 1200.mA or (twelve-hundred)mA power.

We have 3, all 3 started to pack up within 2-3 months. 2 of them have been in to be fixed 3 times the high usuage one has been in 7 (yes 7 times). They freeze, you cant hang up, you cant answer, internet automatically comes on, cant turn off have to remove the battery to get them to come back on. I could go on with the amount of problems. I have 5 freinds also with the N97 mini who all have the same on going problems. Our phones are not even 1 year old & the people who we got them from are now replacing them as they have agreed this model isnt any good.

u need to formate back ur phone using*#7370# to completely uninstalled the antivirus...then remove all the apps which installed on phone memory.this will speed up ur system and free the ram...the hang problem definitely comes from overloaded ram actually...hope this will solve ur problem as I did to my phone...also avoiding to use full loaded icon themes..

If you have 2 antivirus programs running at the same time, it will be slow and also the RAM will be full, so there is really no chance to run new applications. Getting viruses to your phone is so unlikely to happen, that antivirus programs really are no use.

If your phone is chinese copy made, then possibly no wi-fi, otherwise try "settings/phone/security/ and fully reset the phone option and the security code is 12345 then you will have the chance to select the right country location.

I live in South Africa and have found the telephone reception to be absolutely terrible. My cell has been in 3 times to no avail. here are some tips to avoid hanging problems: -after powering on give the phone a minute or two to load all startup programs - avoid multitasking two or more apps that eat up a lot of ram, if possible close open apps that you are no longer using and that you are not aware it's running, long press the menu button to see all running apps for battery life, read the user manual on how not to fast drain it 14 mos. w/my n97 mini, no major problems

hey.. Simply change the "Network Selection" option in Phone settings. It's just asking it again & again because you've selected "Manual". Just change it to "Automatic" & see how it works.. cheers!!

let me point out that the Adobe LE is hardwired(you can't uninstall it) and is a trial version and the quickoffice can only view office 07 and lower versions;to edit,you will have to purchase a license. Furthermore,the application manager cant work when the phone memory is somewhere below 130Mb(or maybe i have too many apps.look for Documents to GO(even edits office 2010)i have a nearly full 8Gbcard and my phone is nowadays very fond of hanging.these are my experiences.

N-desk really makes the phone much better. But Bolt is still too slow, I can visit 10 webpages with stock Android browser on my Galaxy S during the time Bolt load its first page. Opera Mobile is faster than Bolt, but still very much slower than would be needed for acceptable browsing, and the Nokia stock browser totally suck. N97 mini is still to expensive, it cost almost as much as HTC Desire Z i Sweden. If you want an even better qwerty than the good one on N97 mini, but do not want any o the problems with that comes with N97 mini, slow cpu and slow gpu and low ram, then it is better to wait 1 month and then buy Sony Ericsson Pro.

I was a big fan of nokia but after i bought n97mini my opinion has changed..its a bad phone..first its speaker wasnt working properly..i gave it to the service center..they fixed it..got back my phone after only 2 weeks..now the problem is i cant open my phone..the battery dies very fast..they said they cant upgrade its software..and that they will replace it with a new phone..but still..i'm not happy with the phone..sorry!

I don't use it as a phone anymore. Anytime I accessed the cellular network, I would get a low battery signal, and a few times the it shut off. I just the other features, camera, voice recorder, wi-fi, etc. It's been on for 2 days with no battery low signal when I use the other features.

I got mine in 2010 May on Ebay...I did not get a manual. My problem is that it says made in Finland, but was told it's a Chinese version yesterday (18-02-2011). Memory is limited, and got no memory card with it. My internet carrier is LIME and I am having a hard time with the internet and all this Chinese language that you have to translate every time to English...I really need some help with this. i used to have this phone, but i went back to using my nokia e71 and its way better, the n97 is slow, the battery life is weak, the screen is gets scretched easily and its too thick to put in your pocket. if you wanna buy this phone i recommend that you but an e-siries instead

I bought it at 20000 but now its new price is just 16000 and i dont think resale value will be more than 12000.but well it is atough competetor with any other phone because of its 3g, full qwerty slide keyboard, 5mp camera etc. I wish the camera were equipped with face recognition or just geo tagging. The draw back of this phone is that it does not support multi touch input which nowadays most phone have. I have typed this comment just through my phone. as far as i know my dear, when the phone gets hot there's a shortage on the unit or the your battery haven't place ti properly.. try to turn off your phone remove the battery and then place it back (properly). And maybe, it is normal to steel back phone..

first i used n97 mini and this is terible,its not touch screen its tough screen,battery heat up,worst battery backup, but no hanging no restart and then i sold out this shit and buy his big brother n97 32gb.its owsume.big screen touch responce very sensitive,but low internal memory+camera scratch.but far better then n97 mini,i dnt like mini but n9732gb is cool just care ur n97 and they gives u better performance.

May be you need to do a touch screen calibration. Go to settings>Phone>Touch Input>Touch Screen Calibration(last in the menu). Follow the instruction there. It will hopefully solve your problem.

Which Firmware do you already have on your phone? If you don't know how to check that, you can enter this code on your phone dial-pad: *#0000#, if you happen to have Wi-Fi near by check options/Check for updates, than connect to free wi-fi and do not switch of the phone, let the phone do updating, the phone will restart itself. If you have PC, connect your phone with USB cable and launch the Nokia Software Updater, if there is newer update than yours, you will see it, if yes than update it, and do not disconnect your phone till you get message "the phone is now Updated and ready to use", but before all this, you have to do a backup of your phone if you have anything important on it.

Everything is possible, but the question is... how to do that!?:-/ This phone is quiet good as it is, question is... who are willing to try such experiment, and if it fails.. chances are mostly to get a brick toy instead!:-( Much as we have heard from nokia, someday we may get one update or advanced update something they mention with QT GUI... but as an old nokia user, and i know the nokia company politics, if they do such update... the question is... who will bay then the new phone models that they are anxious to make popular with high price and to sell lot of them a real fortune, to achieve highest score from them all, and if they could do at least to sell to all nokia owners one more phone, it mean to them so much, and all that in our expenses... and now i hope you understand the point, why would they give us so much for free, instead emotionalizing us to bay one other nokia phone... specially plastic made one, so we can use only for few month... should you want to know more about our expectations as costumers and the company expectations...lol.

Yes,Wave looks good,works pretty well and it is amazing phone BUT bada is so young and app store so small yet. For example Spotify is not going to support Bada platform,MSN messenger doesnt work also :/

But vivaz pro has hd recording, although i've seen videos and it's so slow. also , the mini and the samsung wave cost the same here in argentina. i like resistive touch screen, and handwriting, and that i can use my nails, and its more difficult to touch something by accident (i hope is not just that i'm stupid, but that someone else had this problem with capacitive). that's why i'm unsure about wave. i want a reliable phone, not only that it looks good. I don't know what to do. Is really the mini so bad??

Dear nokia, thanks for relentlessly manufacturering good looking phones e.g NOKIA N97 mini. However its not all about beauity, i wish u would consider performance as vital. I bought this phone 3 weeks ago and guess what i found out immediately, 1. TOUCH EXPERIENCE, This is the worst ever, pon keeps hanging or responds to non-requested commands,non-sensitive touch screen. 2. BATTERY LIFE, The worst ever, as if the phone wasnt meant to run on battery back up. u have to charge all the time, and recently my A/C power blew up even without power cause. left with USB charging only.without p.c cant charge. 3. WEIGHT AS A MOBLIE DEVICE This phone is too heavy to carry. As if nokia had learnt nothing about N97 the big version, shd have trimed down the weight.. 4. SPEED AND STABILITY, The speed of the device is devasting, will switch off automatically even if u havent requested phone to do so. 5. PRICE, N97 mini costs aliitle more expensive than usual,u may be mistaken that u are paying for such an execellent device, taking it home and u are disappointed by its general poor perforamance. THE GOOD OF N97 min. Here i will just mention briefly, 5 megapixel camera brings relatively good picture qaulity, phone has shinny looks, not that killer as N8 but its ok. CONCLUSION. Its not that i hate nokia, but this phone just doesnt wok for me. i tried a couple of nokia brands but i am ever disappointed. Dear All, Nokia N97 Mini is a fantastic mobile to be used in the perfet way. If any of your documents are opened and if they are not closed properly then the battery goes away quick. Hence if it is used on the right way I think according to me using it for the past one year nearly i have never faced any problem in this mobile. I think this partcular mobile is supposed to be called as Mini Laptop. Bu this mobile could be operted by touch screen instead of the keyboard. Bought the N97 Mini 9 months ago after a Samsung S8300 disaster. The Samsung was so bad for text entry, I thought a phone with a keyboard was the solution. It seems it was the right call and this is actually one of the good things about the phone: 1) I have chubby fingers and even for me, the keyboard is a treat. Holding it with two hands and using the thumbs, you can type very fast and accurate. No need to use T9 or whatever auto-correct feature. 2) The charge goes for 4 days at normal usage. I don't do heavy surfing, mind you. Mainly 30 minutes of talk + listening to MP3's mornings and evenings during commuting. 3) The GPS and maps work great. Seriously! After a cold start, it takes about two minutes to locate your position and after that, turn-by-turn + speed camera warning + speed exceeded warnings work great. Well done Nokia! As for the downsides: 1) This is not a touch screen, whatever Nokia claims. It is a "push" screen. If you exclude the swipes (left-right, up-down), the only touch action you do is pressing rather insensitive buttons. The zoom in any application is a challenge for the user as well as the phone. 2) The phone is SLOW. Portrait to landscape takes about 2 seconds, the first time you do it. The second time, it takes about a second. I guess the program is loaded into memory or something like that so next time you perform the action, it is loaded faster. During photo browsing, when you zoom in, sometimes the phone does not update the photo with necessary details. Regardless of what you do, the picture stays pixeleted all the time. If you change the picture, look at couple of other pictures and come back again, it is most likely that the zoom will work properly now. 3) The screen is too small and has insufficient resolution to allow proper internet browsing. The browser of Nokia is a joke! A bad one at that... The only reasonable browser I could find was Opera Mobile. Even Opera Mini has issues with N97 Mini + Symbian. 4) And finally, the S6 V5 is simply horrible among modern phones (iPhone, Desire HD, Galaxy S etc.) Nokia should be ashamed to allow the name Symbian to propagate to 2011. That platform was designed for non-touch phones Nokia. Stop patching it up and calling it a modern interface. Drop it, no one believes you!

I didn't have the mini but the full one... the quality of the phone is terrible, it only lasts 6 months and that's not a one off as I had a replacement after the first was "beyond ecconomic repair" through the number of faults on its third time back! The second one has gone the same way, so much so, I had my network cancel my 24 month air time contract 11 months early! The phone sometimes even made it appear it was charging up "remotely" I mean the batter y charge up indicator came on when it wasn't even connected! The phone is short of ram which cause memory issues all the time and the phone reboots itself at will. I can't wait for my HTC Desire HD to arrive on Monday!

Internet Explorer? Why, what a revelation! After 5 months of very satisfied use, I have not found IE on my Mini. Would you care to point out where it is installed? And BTW, there are no Mozilla clients on S60 5th. None that actually work, anyway. Sometimes, blatant fabricated stories are easy to spot. As we call it around here, it's all OA... DISSAPPOINTMENT! I just don't know what to start with. I've had this magic for almost half a year and... - The touch screen... disasterous. Reacts from the second third touch. - System... It is just slow. Image processing 5 sec. Even menu cannot scroll smoothly... - It just freezes...sometimes forever. Or just switches off itself. Even music player is above its capabilities! Sometimes it is a challenge to answer the phone as it does not react. - Interface! My favorite one! Before I switched off an automatic screen rotation I could spend minutes switching off my alarm clock. The problem comes partially because of the previous item. Internet Explorer is something amazing. It is just a challenge to switch to another window or change a webpage! People say installing Mozilla helps. One good thing about this phone is navigator! The only one. I could try to update software or dance Rumba around this gadget. But...My colleagues have the same phone as it was distributed as a corporate phone and everyone got happy only for the first week of the use... I do not recommend this disasterous device!
