Yes, you can go back to Anna. With nokia n8 you can downgrade by installing the origilnal version from SCANDINAVIA. I suppose for Nokia x7-e7-c7 will be the same since they're all of the same generation. Then, look for an image of Symbian Anna for nokia x7 and install it. I did this on my Nokia n8 using PHOENIX and worked fine. Hope this helps!

More precise, the battery here is non-removable! Unfortunately Microsoft closed almost all apps on it destroying little by little symbian: social, weather, nokia account, even mail will not work anymore properly etc etc...

I am still using it today, shame that little by little, software developers have stopped bringing out APPS for Symbian based mobile phones as well as no longer support for updates on current Symbian based programs, for example WhatsApp. All of which due to the elevated costs and the fact that there are a vast majority of Android (Linux) users against very few Symbian users. The question is, as there is no longer updates for the Symbian OS, as Belle was the last of the versions, with the X7 not compatible with Android, is it at least compatible with the Windows OS, and if it is really worth the risk? I am still awaiting reply from Microsoft.

The only big disadvantage of this phone is the non removable battery.In case of frozen,hard reset.Very sturdy material,beautiful design,EXCELLENT SPEAKERS.Nokia was always good in hardware,but non good in software (at least for a heavy user).Cameras button in absolutely wrong place,the trace for sim/memory card,protects well,but it takes some time to get used.For an regular user,it's very good device.

It's a device that lives longer than you do with decent mobile and internet services. I got mine 3 years ago. Still works almost like it did when I bought it. It's a Nokia, so not much Instagram and Viber and Skype and whatnot, but it does support Whatsapp. I'd recommend anyone who wants a basic smartphone that is life-proof to get it.

Stupid phone and until now expensive! The SIM card slot destroyed after not even 2 months, after I took out and put back SIM for 2-3 times! And now cannot even read it and if I press it to go inside will destroy my SIM completely with scratches! Besides, sometimes must press all the butons to close it because freezes and the battery is unremovable! And they still selling Symbian phones but Nokia services for this even I have guaranty for it became almost inexistent!

An error from the past comments, to unfreeze your phone, which is common on x7, you just only need to press the power button and menu button at the same time then hold it for a few seconds until it turns off. Once it turns off, then turn it back on. Problem solved. Cheers. Symbian phone are not worth buying as their free apps are limited and performance not at its best.

In case of hang, just long press the power button for about 2 minutes, and then your phone will restart (this restart will solve hang problem). Don't forget to download restart buton in Nokia Store like Belle Extra Button, Quick Apps Panel, or a single Restart Button, and restart your phone once in a while to refresh the OS.

I think the problem is because Nokia doesn't really pay attention to the development of Symbian, especially since the presence of a new CEO. Also nokia has failed to give Symbian with power supports (like CPU, GPU, RAM, & big battery) to compete with other OSes. Having said this my sincere advice would be to try the Lumia series... as there is no future for the Symbian. I am switching to WP8... I own several phones. The X7 is one of them. Good phone, but some downsides. The batterylife is, well, not the best. 680 mhz is also not the best. It makes the phone somewhat slow. Compared to my Nokia N9 for example, there's a huge difference. My N9 runs smoothly, the X7 is somewhat slow. But there are good points as well. I like the design, and the way it fits in the hand, even though it's kinda square angled. The sim tray is easy to use as well as the micro sd hot swapling method. And Symbian did do a great job with the latest version. If you can buy this phone for a good price, buy it.

My god this phone is really horrible. Except camera, every thing is horrible and stupid. It has very lazy touch. It keeps on hanging all the time just like nokia 5800. This phone has no videocall camera. Speakers dont sound like dual speakers. Slow internet. Its surface becomes very hot when we use web. No opening of battery cover. Madly priced and blah blah blah.... Only thing good is video recording. It should be discontunied.

I quite like the X7. Big, wide screen. Very black screen. Great touch sensitivity. Decently fast. Applications are good. Works very well with my Microsoft office. New Belle OS is excellent. My only criticism is the occasional hang, where I have to shut my phone off and on; but this happens on my friends' phones too. I'd get it again, and I have no intention of updating it for quite a while as it does everything I want, and does it well enough to keep me happy.

Also, it's hyper sensitive and will most likely turn off if you do anything to it that applies even the lightest pressure. Sucks that I have another 2 years with the damn thing. The nokia x7 plays it dirty when it comes to battery life,after a full charge you can only expect around 5-6 hours of usage before u wil need to recharge...though the figures change drastically wen connected to wifi or gprs services,then u can only expect 4-5 hour.

hello, The nokia x7 does support watsapp,skype and most of the other important apps like any other good nokia fone...bt i wud not recommend uprading to symbian belle since it makes the fone unstable(now i wudnt throw that on someone..i am saying it out of my own experience),anyways if u wer to update to belle u wudnt hav any significant change except the UI theme change.So my conclusion for the x7 is that it is all looks & no substance.

X7 has a great battery life, it can last browsing the internet two days before having the need to be recharged (most androids need to recharge every day or even twice every day) and surprisingly, the screen is very clear. But X7 has lower stability because nokia is bieng lazy right now and I just wonder why did they swiched to WindowsPhone8. Symbian was wonderful, all it needs is stability updates.

wokay! Having read others querys and all, Firstly this is just an average good looking nokia smartphone.. Don't expect it to do everything perfectly.. The net speed is on the lower side for 2G and its very high for 3G(from my use) ...if you are looking for a nice music phone this ain't it..it got the clarity.. But not the sound.. But headset clarity and sound is amazing.. Those who have problems with headset after upgrading from anna to belle, make sure u use nokia wh-701 headset.. Other headset have compatibility problems,, now those who have hanging problems, yes this phone hangs alot, but usually if u don't press anything for one minute it'll be back to normal, if not then press the menu key nd the power key for 10 sec, then switch in the phone again.. There are no problems with memory card section.. Just make sure that the memory doesn't get below 10mb atleast for proper working of phone.. I feel belle is more user friendly but has some side effects :p .. Overall I'll rate ma X7 7.2/10 For more answers reply to this comment! Thank you guys

My Nokia X7 got Belle update. The phone before performed perfectly well. Later, it got issues like hanging in between, APPS not working sometimes, Taking too much time to load after boot. I then did a factory restore, defragmented my storage drive in my laptop. Now, it works smoothly. I had like some 10K SMSes in my memory. Also, if you face same problem, Try to install an APP Memory Up ( a kind of RAM booster) which helps you to make phone works a little smoother. Overall, I was seduced with the phone design and features. I am a Nokia Fan and I know Android leads the market with great features, but I wish Symbian developers at Nokia can do the same thing. I really do not know why then are stopping the Symbian production now. Symbian is one of the most world famous platform with a very stable Kernel and can work on minimum hardware requirements whereas Android and other OS needs high hardware demand. I wish they continue their improvements over Symbian and make it like Android. iOS is no competition to Symbian such.

The navigation with Nokia Maps is unusable for many countries in Europe, as the maps are old or non existing and it chooses impossible roads. There is no compass neither it orients the maps to the north although in the specification it says it has a compass and in the help file it says it orients the map to the north using the compass. There are other faults also and since I was lured to buy this phone advertising free navigation I feel duped.

nokia x-7 is the worst of its kind. Inbuilt battery often creates problem, most of d times it is stuck n kept on ringing endlessly no matter what n how u try to stop it. finally comes to an end only after many hrs of continuos ringing when the battery goes down. dont know how to solve this problem.

Hi guys.. x7 is good looking, camera clarity z too gud. music z too convenient. if the phone got hang you can shutdown the system by pressing menu button and power button at a time for some time. One bad thing is its too sensitive. if it fell down from short distance the display will be gone. I upgraded to bella now phone is working fine but still bella has to come back with good applications. I am finding lot of applications in android, my friends those who are using android they are enjoying with new and good applications.

if you're into music... this is definitely a good choice, the speaker is incredibly good. camera is pretty decent. the video is fine too.. but i wasn't really satisfied. i have a wifi at home and i tried it for browsing afew times.. i was very disappointed with it. i compared it with my lg optimus bright which is fast and my previous phone which is xperia arc, they are incomparable to X7. it would take me a minute or 2 before the page will load. android os is till way way better...lots of free apps. so i sold my x7 instead... but just like what i said if you are into music, then this a good choice. (although there are other handsets providing excellent sound plus fast browsing and superb camera out there to choose from) but if you're up for browsing and gamings and taking photos?... well X7 is not the handset for you.

I have it, the battery lasts more than a day, even 4 days, I had a good experience with the internet, it performs smoothly most of the time, and it is not like the android which needs to be charged a thousand time a day, or the over priced apple, and despite the weak hardware the x7 has, with symbian x7 can do most of the basic tasks with a promising performance.

Our X7 freezes all the time, and holding the power button does nothing. On one occasion, when the whole OS was completely seized, we received a phone call. even after the the caller hung up, the X7 rang for literally 8 hours. the only reason it stopped was because it ran out of battery. this is the worst phone ever.

I got the Nokia X7 because it was the free upgrade. If I was paying I would probably go with the iphone because it does everything this phone does excpet better. This phone does not have a great directional sensor. When I try to use it landscape style for typing messages, it frequently swings back to the other orientation. And you can only turn it one direction.... if you turn it 90 degrees clockwise instead of counter clockwise the screen won't change orientation. My first unit actually shut down completely, would't accept any screen nor button inputs and I Couldn't just pop out the battery to reset. You have to hold the ON, volume, camera and screen buttons all the same time for almost 10 secs, then it will reset. That's NOT in the phone manual. I don't really like the OS for storing and accessing apps. They tried to make it a bit like ipod but of course can't. It does take good photos, pretty impressive for a camera, and it can act as a GPS with maps installed. Those features are the reason I chose it over my other free choice. Of course it does also make phone calls and send text messages. Overall, I could be a lot happier.

The phone button at the bottom allows you to close whatever app/game that you wanted to close. There are somee apps/games that do not have EXIT option for you, so this is the solution. Your phone will not turn off by doing this. Hope this answer your question.

I took the phone to a Nokia Dealer yesterday when the phone froze on me, yet again and he showed me a Simple trick he held the Menu Button + Camera Key and then the power key for nearly abt 8 Secs and the phone switched off he then aksed me to perform a Hard reset to clear the Phone memory this really help it turn out that the Microsoft Apps update is the main reason why the phone freezes hate the fact that now the compatibilty of games on the phone is Zero :X Besides that the phone works smoothly now. Its been 24 hrs with out any accidents on the X7 Hope this helps

Upgrade to Nokia Belle OS. Phone does not hang after upgrade. Speed overall is much faster and battery life seems to have increased.

When I am in the process on doing some work on it starts searching for available networks(Access point user name/ Access point userpassword. I want to block that. I think I got similar problem. A few week earlier the phone did not turn on ( after I install Skype ) then I did a hard reset and then worked well for a few weeks. Then a few days ago, it not turn on and the hard reset did not work. I guess the battery is dead. I just got the phone for 5 months, can not imagine Nokia phone has much bad quality. Now it was reported that Lumia 800 has battery problem too.

guys x7 is stylish than galaxy s2 & iphone,whether it don't have secondary camera x7 looks sexy and comfort to hand while galaxy s2 huge to hand and iphone rectangle box to hand the difference between symbain anna ,andriod and ios is that andriod & ios install all apps on the start menu only that it is easier to operate but symabian anna install in application folder that it easier to browse only install apps but in andriod & ios get me headache to browse install apps because it will mix all install apps with msg, gallery ,videos,music etc..., i don't know how people can operate it . i am telling this because i all ready used iphone4s,galaxy s2,galaxy tab and also htc now i am using nokia x7 from three months and no doubt it is excellent phone

I love my x7 even with the hanging and sometimes.. but I have error message now that is very irritating.. "Error in USB connection. Disconnect cable.. but im only trying to charge the phone.. Bought a new charger, bought a new USB cable for my laptop.. still the same error message.. I've restarted many times already.. any ideas?

What about iphone4? It also has non removable batetry and teh battery life i sso bad too. Why are there still so many people buying iphone 4 with a short life and non-removable battery whereas people criticise eeh X7 battery so much? Do u know that the X7 battery is way better than many android phones out there. I currently have an X7 and I also have a motorola Razr. I need to charge my razr everyday but I only need to charge my X7 every 2 to 3 days when I activate power saving mode in it. Perhaps people who use the X7 never know that there is a power saving mode available which can made the batetry last longer adn people are just very good at complaining and never good at appreciating any good things on this phone.

i got this phone in mid august and my phone is literally dead in december. the phone literally "died' when i tried turning it on and off nothing happens. i did not drop it in water or on the ground or anything.....there's a serious problem. and also after a few months my phone wouldnt send messages....my texts wouldnt send. i was in an area with service and yet it doesnt work. at first i thought it would be a really good phone. it started out fine but now its terrible.

Only had my Nokia X7 a couple of months and have already sent it back under warrenty after screen froze. Unable to turn off. Poor battery life. Limited apps due to platform Nokia runs. Worse phone I ever had. My next phone will be a Android or Iphone, not a Nokia.Think twice before buying a Nokia.

If you didn't get the message of my first post: I hate this phone I would love to throw it off the CN tower (or other tall building) I would love to use this phone as a hockey puck and see how it handles my 95+ mph slapshot Also, I hope that when I begin to conquer the world everyone who stands in my way should be using this phone, I will be able to easily surpass them by turning off all of their phones because they will take at least 2 years to turn everything back on. This phone is the worst phone that I have ever used. Blackberry might be going out of business but their phones are much better than this one. Every time I attempt to unlock the phone it takes at least a minute to recognize that I touched the screen before it begins the 3 minute process of unlocking itself. After unlocking the phone you have to scroll to all of your other home pages (only loads 1 of the 2 that I have running) in order to load them as well. While texting I've had problems where the phone would lock itself every time I type the letter "G". When trying to exit the application tray I have had many occasions where I have ended up calling people accidentally. My Father and Sister have different phones (Dell and Blackberry) and they cannot stand using my phone because it is soooooo bad. If they cannot bear to use it for two minutes, imagine what I feel like every day. When I get my first chance to switch phones,I will, I am going to switch to either a blackberry or an android phone with a REAL keyboard. I don't know why the rest of you people posting on this page say you want the phone because it is the worst phone that I have ever used! Save yourself the trouble that I have to put up with and imagine what it would be like using an android smartphone or a blackberry. Honestly, I would rather use a simple talk and text phone that is good at placing calls and sending text messages rather than using this phone that does everything horribly. I hope that my posting of this comment/review of the Nokia X-7 reduced the sales of ALL nokia phones because they, to my knowledge, are GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rate the phone with negative numbers instead of the 1,1,1 rating, which is the lowest that the drop down menus will let me vote. My real rating would be 0 out of 10, -10 out of 10, and -infinity out of 10 because this phone is SOOOOOOO bad!

Well this phone suck a lot, you know when i purcahsed this phone it was great, but when i heard there's no app support i was pissed off, then again when i can't put the sim tray in, i took it to Nokia customer care, " which was idiotic decision", they begin to ask me are u putting pins inside sim slot, do they think people have lost it all to put pin inside sim tray, and then they told me it had factory defect, which they repaired anyways, i hate it cause, you flash it with another os, and there's no direct app support, something easy to install.

You can say that again! The basic idea is very good - you don't have to mess with the back cover to remove/insert sim. However, execution is poor and takes a bit of practice getting used to.

Through some sources i got to know that nokia x7-00 and E6-00 runs on 680 mhz processor but they have 512MB of RAM. Symbian ANNA cannot utilize full RAM power or in other word 512MB RAM is not compatible with Symbian ANNA. That's why they show 256MB RAM. Wait for Symbian Belle. Nokia X7 And E6 owner will also get 512MB ram gift along with belle... This phone indeed has got great look/design but so does the galaxy's When u consider the speed... Symbian is still way back even with their new os, I mean even gio is 800 mhz while the x7 is still at 6** mhz. If u are someone that downloads a lot of games and applications, the x7 will be a better bet because of the memory size but that is only if u are comparing it with gio and ace. The s and s2 still beats it at this. Then my brother if u are in Nigeria and still want to enjoy free browsing, x7, symbian is always the better bet. And when u talk about music, well as u know x7 is music phone n from my experience with x6, those other ones can never be better. But brother coming down to the most important thing for most people, quality for a good price, the s is far cheaper than this with better options if u can forfeit free browsing and make do with the applications they give u free in the app store. Which is still a good bet... God... This phone is too costly ....

Don't buy phone by just reading reviews. The best review you can get is go to the phone retailer/shop and test it yourself. Spend sometimes with the phone and experience it first hand. Than you make your own review of the phone, thus if you impressed and have the money, buy it. Different people have different preferences and opinion and needs. So, be a smart a consumer and be your own reviewer.

I don't think phone nowadays have high resale value because there are too many new phones from various company coming out almost every two months, so this makes even brand new phone which was released earlier to drop in sale value and further makes value for second hand phone to be very low. So, whatever phone you buy, when you want to trade it in with new phone, don't expect the value will be high. My advice, instead of trade your phone to retailer, just look for someone that want to buy used phone. You might get better deal.

I don't think iPhone 4 has good battery life. I saw my friend's iPhone 4, can't really stand for one full day (24 hours), while X7 can last almost 2 days, and for normal usage can last more than 2 days. Other aspect you mentioned is quite true. But X7 have one kick ass sound quality...the sound produced is just great. A true multimedia phone. The picture in camera is nice except for close range picture (eg. macro shot). Video recorded in HD is stunning. But if you want phone with good camera, don't buy X7, buy N8 or iPhone 4, or SGS2. But if you want a good multimedia phone for games, play video and music, some fairly good social network integration and other functions apart from still image, buy X7...it is one good phone with superb built quality. The 4" inch screen is just nice for your eyes because i don't think it is that comfortable when the size of screen exceed 4" which is bulky.

My previous iPhone 3G is WAY better than this crap. -Internet surfing sucks, touchkey is veryvery lousy -Hangs for a moment at the unlock button, needing you to wait awhile before you can actually unlock it. -The games in it are veryvery laggy, not smooth, for a brand new phone, with only 2 GB of memory used? Ridiculous -Limited amount of games which can be downloaded, some even need to be paid at least USD$2 Bottom line? Buy an iPhone with data plan, it WILL serve you ewll. Your only paying for the style. even so, after a few weeks/days, you will get bored of this crap.

Can nokia leave their comfort zone of 250mb? Its not impressive for RAM sucking apps and no front camera? This is an X-series phone, isnt it suppose to get a lil from the N and E series (entertainment and business models). Final factor, NO SNS, in the present state of the world, everybody wants to have everything integrated at a time (i dont mean the weak twitter and facebook integration found on C7 and E6). C'mon nokia, u keeping slipping from the top pedestal. Even me, an avid nokia follower (nokia E72 now) is goin to switch over to HTC pretty soon. I love u guys but develop a risk taking phone not one that slightly improves standard specs and incorporates great ideas from other models. Cheers
