HTC One S9 - User Reviews

  • terrible phone if you wanna install and flashing a custom rom or downgrade it and any custom change you'll be destroy! :)

  • Pros: - good price - 290 Euros; - decent hardware and software response; - battery, medium - ok; - drop't it a few times, except for some scratches it's okay (also in water with detergent (powered on)); Cons: - very low quality materials: the metal back is made from soft aluminium, scratches instantly, the glass scratches extremely easy; - Charges fully in about 2h; - pretty mediocre camera; - pretty thick; - heats in the sun. Overall: - pretty good phone for the price.

  • The device is very pleasing , l am happy with it.

  • HTC S9 review: I have this phone for a while now.. - Battery life is less than average, browsing the internet on Wi-Fi for one hour decrease the Battery 28%. - build quality is not great despite being metal back.there is a seem between the metal and the plastic and between the plastic and the screen. - Not comfortable to hold in my hands. -camera is average for a mid-ranger, no thing special. I can not recommend it for use as a primary phone , the battery is slow to charge and fast to drain.

  • Bought it two days ago. It's too heavy (even comparing to LG G3 with 3000 mAh battery and a 5.5-inch display with 4K resolution), it doesn't fit well in one hand in spite of being a 5-inch phone (Sony XA fits well), and its camera is located at the worst place possible. It overheats when connected to the internet (both 4G network and Wi-Fi; just being connected, even when not browsing) or being charged. It makes me feel like I'm holding a Sony Ericsson P990: heavy, uncomfortable, and expensive. Do not make the mistake I made. Don't buy this phone.

  • What about battery backup

  • I played in the original settings. I mean i haven't changed them so i think it was in medium but not sure.

  • Thanks mate.

  • Thanks zzzzy mate your comment is really helpful.would u please tell me in which setting's you have played asphalt 8 medium or high?

  • I bought this phone 4 months ago and i have played asphalt for a while. It was smooth and it was easy to play. For the temperature i don't know what is the max temp but sometimes when you play heavy games or use heavy apps it starts to heat but it's not a big problem and quickly becomes cool again. It is very comfortable to hold . For now I think it's a great phone.

  • Is this phone lags in heavy games like asphalt nova and mc5? And what is the max temperature of this phone is it uncomfortable to hold or not ? Plz someone tell me bcz I want to buy this phone.

  • yes htc s9 had led ntf in the speaker

  • Does anyone know will this phone receive Nougat (7.0) ?

  • both of mine works perfect, check the audio balance in settings

  • Hi, I have a question.Does your down front speaker works because my doesn't and i'm not sure if this is a defect?

  • does the front down speaker should work or it's only for decoration

  • does the down speaker should work or is it just for decoration?

  • I bought this phone for 250€ and it's a deal.. +awesome build quality, awesome looking. Boomsound double stereo speakers very good not as loud as m8 but more clean audio with bass choice .a very good 13mp sensor with 4k video recording very good at low light conditions both video and photos the sane for the front camera with ultrapixel sensor..1920x1080 full HD screen ..2gb of ram the phone has no problem running even overencumberd.. -2840mah battery -16 gb storage( it takes micro SD up to 256gb) -no fingerprint sensor Overall a great mid-range phone for daily purposes with some flagship specs.. I feel lucky that I got this phone..

  • I have the HTC Nine and it has given me nothing but trouble.

  • does it come with colored screen or is it in b/w?

  • When it will be released in India

  • Hello, one tiny little question: does it have a notification light/ led? Thanks!

  • I am not able to find a multimedia player. Does it come with one?

  • I'm using HTC S9 and this is the best smartphone i've had ever without doubt.

  • Exellent mobile

  • Dearest smartdevices enthusiasts and readers. To be fair,HTC X9 according to the views, opinions and specifications here is good(worldwide research)! But there are some hidden hands that make HTC,LG,Sony ,etc.looks and whoseems bad for just more profits !!What and who are they!!!?If gsmArena the factwriting independent entity lets me,I will disclose the results of 2 years of science research!!Even,if all trustworthy brands ask,I Will disclose manmade disruptions and defamation of good brands worldwide!!Hopefully, factwriting gsmArena publishes my comment and to prove its independence issues permission! Thanks all mentioned names.Justice Rights.Omid12omidvar.

  • You buy a phone, before you know about softwere and hard were you watching the how is beautiful and feel it in your hand and dont forget it you buy a thing that most time of day you watch, use and touch that so dont pay attention to the numbers a lot just enjoy it

  • Really not bad phone for about 315 euros..

  • Does anyone know when it will be released in the UK?

  • LOL! no, the price of this phone is expected to be 480 euros...Huawei P9 is around 550 euros, so an extra bit of cash you can get something far better than this device

  • This is an eyesore, no features, no nothing just expensive.

  • He was meant to put £250 not EURO LoL

  • A HAWEI P9 for 250€ ... Lol

  • no dear friend.all other brands have drop price and maybe htc dropping is lower.... metal body affects on price.the metal body price is very much in compare to polycarbonate, glass or leather...

  • My guess about overpricing this kind of devices is because their price will fall like a cascade after a couple of month's.I am not 100% sure but the prices are high because of the providers.I mean in my country you can by now a m9 or LG g4 in 250 euro new but without warranty.

  • Those specs tho, yuck..... But I guess it's a supposed to be a mid-ranger phone enclosed in a metal body reminiscent of the M9.

  • The battery is weak, Ram is low, not even the fastest helio chipset, only 5 inch, internal 16gb, htc service is average as well - not the best, not the worst. So, i still dont see the point of htc overpricing this phone, other than the speakers and the "brand name". Should have been around 150-200 euros And for about 50 more euros, you can get Huawei P9 which is twice or thrice as better than this S9.

  • Don't forget HTC sense, high grade aluminum-build, stereo speakers, boomsound + dolby audio, brand, gorilla glass, sapphire lens cover, improved camera, high quality mic, software and OS update or support adds up to the price tag. Other components are just okay or optimised for daily use. This is not a gaming device that needs the latest processor or having more RAM. This is a device that offers a well rounded performance for different tasks. Other companies don't offer updates or provide quality product that is why I think they are more cheaper despite of the components they used which is "better" than HTC uses.

  • It'd be better SD625 than X10. Both have roughly the same performance, but SD625 is more battery-friendly (14nm fabrication process) and I'm sure it's not expensive.

  • not bad, MTK CPU will help to cut down the cost a bit more :)

  • The guy who designed the One M7, M8 and M9 quit the company ages ago to form his own company in US called Nexbit. Released the first phone Robin.

  • I Like it better than A9.

  • Seriously HTC,why you even made this phone it doesn't even suit in your category instead of this ugly 90s model you should have make a9+ model for improvement . Your designer should be fired or you will be history in innovative design what's your slogan is .

  • doesn't exist 4G?????? are you blind or illiterate?????? can't see network part????? it has support 4G in many networks as LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500). why you wrote that ?! like to destroy htc?

  • You're totally daydreaming, no doubt about it.

  • Is it just me or the phone really support 10 different 4G bands? And where did you read this phone didn't support LTE connection?

  • Why this phone does not have 4G? I mean, the chipset support 4G. I'm sorry for htc, but this kind of phone is to expensive for this specs...

  • Really?

  • exactly....there are many better phones in the market for the price and even provide better performance than this phone...

  • really bad design... they should keep up the 10 or A9 design! disappointed.

  • Why do they purposely make huge bezels. Plus, it's 10mm thick but has just a 2.8k mAh battery. Ad the huuuge price tag and - not that it's attractive - it's a horrible choice. I'm a htc fan, but this product is just not what I would buy. Why do I comment here? Because I don't want htc to go back a few steps backwards after the amazing 10

  • This phone design will not help HTC go grow in this competitive market.

  • And this is rat race for sure to see every body apping galaxy now, comm'on guys be creative with those brains almighty gave you!

  • Who would buy the HTC One S9 which is 158 grams and 10mm thick with such a feeble battery, not to mention the battery-draining Helio X10 processor? You could have the Xiaomi Redmi 3 instead, same 5 inch display, only 144 grams and with a 4100 mAh battery - this phone has a much bigger battery but is still lighter than the S9! Also, according to GSM Arena's battery life list, the Redmi 3 is near the top of the list for battery life - it is no brainer.

  • No. I mean exactly what I said

  • Will make htc bankrupt cause of the price and the lower spec.

  • This phone will sell like hot cakes....................…………in science fiction movies.

  • Better than galaxy s7

  • You mean, this fone would bankrupt Samsung!

  • and look whats happening to HTC? since 2015; sales are dropping, losing customers and stuff. their sales will continue to go down if they keep over-pricing their phones. Fact: HTC sales were down by 35% last year.

  • HTC should fire the designer!! The bezel is unnecessarily wide at the bottom so that they can put the logo there. It could have been moved to the top. The same mistake is also on all the One Series smartphones.

  • Please need to stop with comparing to new phones, yes this is a recycle with different specs. The design looks fairly decent from what its replacing. The only real gripe i have on this is the price point. It should reflect a price acceptable to specs, the HTC m8 will probably be on par with this in terms of overall specs, yet this is close to $200 over it.

  • I don't know about you. But most of us here are not going to pay 500 euros for a "recycled" device. 16gb ROM and 2GB RAM? You obviously are the one who does not know what they're talking about.

  • 5.0 inches, 2gb ram only. 2840mah battery, not even the fastest mediatek chipset...and it cost 500 euros?? wtf HTC steep price

  • OMG, why do all HTC phones have so big bezels and so small battery capacity, they usually sacrifice it to copy Apple at 7mm thiness, but this one here is more than 1cm, thats just absurd...

  • IMHO the One X9 is better in many ways than this S9 and cheaper as well. Shame, X9 availability is still limited to a small number of regions.

  • spam One (x)9 series: HTC M9 HTC M9+ HTC M9+ Supreme Camera HTC M9s HTC ME HTC E9 HTC E9+ HTC E9s HTC A9 HTC X9 HTC S9 what's next HTC ?

  • I get your point but why not just buy an M9, there won't be much difference in price by the time it's released. Carriers in the UK have slashed M9 prices since the htc 10 was announced.

  • Too much high price. Budget phone means 200-250-300 EUR, not 500 EUR.

  • I'm confused too. Why is anyone going to buy this over an M9? Is it the camera?

  • Look just how miserable most of you people are. Your comments are pathetic. Its f....ing obvious its htc m9 chassie. Only changed the front. Look at sensor place, mic place down blow and compare them to original M9. . They just recycled M9. Exactly like iPhone SE. So its a nice move.See? You people dont even think before say the word. Shame shame

  • Helio x10.. Hahaha..what a joke. 599 dollars? Haha.. Pl don't release in India, NO TAKERS

  • This phone is not going to sell well in any market in the world. 1st, that tiny screen-to-body ratio. I mean look at the bottom front. It's huge. Haven't they learned from the past? 2nd, battery is so small despite the thick design. I don't mind a thick phone if there's a huge battery inside. Cmon HTC with phone this thick you could at least fit a 3300mah battery inside it. 3rd, there's no fingerprint. Fingerprint is not just a gimmick now. 2015, maybe. You can get a phone half this price with a fingerprint on it. 4th, the price. That price is too high despite all the deal breakers above. Maybe this is a marketing strategy for the new HTC 10 so that htc fans who would want to buy an alternative and maybe more affordable rather than the pricey HTC 10 by giving them no choice but to opt to HTC 10? Cuz, I mean, compare the price and specs of the One S9. Totally not worth it. *sorry if there's a mistake in the paragraph above. I get a little mixed up while making the sentences.

  • I'm confused, is this phone better than M9? If not, why not just upgrade the a9 so the specs match the price tag. I really like htc designs but their business model is a mess. Htc must be a credible alternative to Samsung and Apple or they will be overwhelmed by Chinese manufacturers who are who are improving every year.

  • This type of phone would bankrupt HTC in the US market.

  • Beautiful and i think it also will be Handy, but nothing more

  • First... the triple bottom is such a bad design, why go back to it. Second, when can HTC make their phone slim as other companies. Third, sorta high price tag with this very basic 2-3 year old spec, what the hell were u thinking? HTC won't raise if this phone is gonna be like this.

  • new htc phone same story with the price..always high as hell
