It has a WAP browser, I don't see why not. I had the T-Mobile version of this phone long ago and I actually miss it due to it's small compact size and it really had an amazing screen. For those having issues with MicroSD (transflash) cards, the max the phone could handle was 1GB. You could put more music on the card than the phones music player could handle as it could only address 120 songs via playlists. Otherwise you would have to make new playlists to accommodate different songs. I still feel this is one of the best classic phones and the fact that it wasn't a RAZR. The rotating camera was a great feature and it actually captured decent video (better than my much higher priced BlackBerry 83xx series that followed it.

hey, i put 64mb card on my d820 but d phone ask to format, and when i format it was error. When I try to put the memory on my n85, d memory was corrupted. Then, i put a 2gb card that still works but the phone still asking 2 format. Sorry for my bad english

i had this phone, it was the best phone i ever had. bought from a department store in bali. it was perfect until i dropped it and it smashed into many little pieces on the bathroom floor. i miss it very much. the next phone i got was a 6500 slide which i can quite honestly say was the worst decision i have ever made with a phone, i now have an i900 and its sooo over whelming its unbelievable.

i have used many camera phones. but one thing i must say, d820 is the phone with the best video recording quality! even sony ericsson k800i(3.2 cam) can not perform such a good quality that d820 has. those who are dreaming of a very good video quality, can buy this lovely phone with out any fear.though i'm not using it currently, i can say this is the best video phone i have ever used!!!! i still love it!

T-Mobile put that restriction on there. Change the file extension to .3gp instead of .mp3 and it should work.

Just use Johnsons Baby Oil and a piece of cotton wool to clean your phone with. Do not use a lot of oil. Wipe it with a cloth afterwards. It will be up and running again.

This is an excellent phone. I have been using it for two years now.The 73 MB total shared memory is a very big plus. I am a property broker and takes many photos of properties which I download on my pc. The photos are very good and the phone can take a lot of photos before the memory is full. I usr to take photos with my camera which is a good camera but after seeing what the phone can do I never used my camera again. The phone is nice and small and fits into my pocket. So why carry a big camera on me. I had no problems with my phone. Even after upgrades I carry on using the D820 and the upgrade phone is lying in my cupboard, lol. Just a pity the phone is off the market but I have a supplier who can still provide brand new D820's. Before choosing a phone always look at the internal memory. I got the E250 on an upgrade but what a disaster, only 13 MB of internal memory. I used it for two weeks and packed it away and started to use my D820 again. This phone is just super. Thank you Samsung!

This phone is just great, very nice looking and functional. Have use it now like 2 and a half years. Only 2 thing has disturbed me. Slide system has been really stiff since 2 week using it, maybe just dirt. Second thing is that top of the display there goes 10-15 black lines but it's not big deal, it did came few months backwards.

A fantastic phone, with all the features that you would find in a 2008 new model. 1 hour voice recording, video recording, decent photos(1.3 mega but good quality), sturdy to withstand many falls, stylish and user friendly. I am constantly confused as to which to use - my nokia 6230i or samsung d820. Both are fantastic. look wise this samsung is better, but audio quality 6230i is slightly ahead.

it is a very nice phone. i had mine about a year now and it works good. however, i bought a 2gb micro sd card and it keeps asking to me format, when i click yes, it says error. the 1gb i had before was a micro sd/trans flash so i figured since the 2gb isn't a trans flash that was the problem but i tried in another samsung phone, it formatted. i took the 2gb card from that phone and placed it into mine and had the same problem. can someone please shed some light on what i should do?

Yes its because t809 aren't meant to hold 2gb. I called Samsung about this problem too and I just switched to a 1GB again.

In reply to the not being able to set an mp3 as a ringtone. If it's a D820 (or a T809 running D820 software), it should be able to by default. If you've got the T-Mobile T809 you can fake out the system to use the ringtown if you change the extension from mp3 to 3gp. It will fool the phone into thinking it's a video ringtown but it will actually play as an mp3 when you get an incoming call. For the other(s) who have commented on the battery life. I have the same issue. It's very short and using it for much other then a few phone calls and especially if you use the internet on it, the battery drains like crazy on it.

very sleek phone... but lot of snags. sometimes the automatic locking facility doesn't work, and on low signal, the voice quality becomes very bad. Also the display the sliding function conked within a year. I think i will stick to nokia now for a reliable phone which will last more than a year

I bought this unit back in 2006... i dropped this phone more the 20 times... and still working... very nice phone... sleek and has a good quality... it was only recently that I dicovered that if you want to zoom in the picture youv'e taken from this fone, use the volume buttons to zoom in and out... it only applies to Phone Photos... not for downloaded or favrite images... funny coz it was never stated in the manual.

Yeah. My d820's download speed was around there. 4kbps. But with my new N81, i use the same network, and get between 20kbps to 50kbps. And when 3g kicks in, then it's like a F1 car, at almost 100kbps - 200kbps download speed. (never reach 300kbps yet)

Used this for more than one year. The plus: Good looks, feature rich - it has everything, 1 hour video, audio recording, photoes, micro card, etc. Goood photoes and good videos. The minus: The voice is not as clear as my nokia 6230i. Speaker phone also not very effective. Overall a very good phone

I've had very mixed experiences with this phone. I've had it for about a year and a half. These are some of the problems I've had with the phone. 1. Call quality is fairly poor. It really requires me to jam the upper right piece of the phone to hear the caller. 2. Vibrate then melody. You cannot have both go off at the same time. 3. Poor camera reaction time. Once you click to capture an image, it takes 2 or 3 seconds to capture the image. That being said, a majority of your pictures(especially of friends) will come out very blurry unless you specifically tell your friends not to move too soon. 4. Slider sticks. After a year's worth of use, the slider has gradually become stuck. 5. Phone suddenly dies. Similar to what other users have said, my phone dies at random times with little or no reason. I'm not sure why and I'm positive it's not related to battery life. It's often frustrating.

Do not believe everything N81_user said because I have the D820 for two years now and i did not bother to upgrade yet because i am already satisfied by its performance, the ring tone sound/mp3 is better than n70 or n80 using external speaker. There are no other faults on this phone. I am now using 1gig sd memory card and it works fine, faster than all nokias. ty

to cap, You can view your sim contacts only by pressing 1 then # on your keypad You can copy all contacts from phone to sim or vice versa by going to MENU then PHONEBOOK then press (8)MANAGEMENT and press (2)COPY ALL TO, finally press (1)PHONE or (2) SIM, whatever suites you.

Hi Cap you can do Phone SIM contact transfer in two ways. Using PC studio and using Phone itself. 1. Copy Contacts Phone SIM: PC Studio 1.1 Connect Phone to PC -> Open Samsung PC studio. You can do the contact transfer very easily. How to do :Open PC studio->click "Manage contacts and More". Now you will get the Phone Editor window. Tree view like this: Phone |_ME |_SIM You can click on ME(that is mobile) and your contacts will be loaded. locate any contact and right click it. From right click menu choose "Copy". Next click on SIM(that is SIM card) and "Paste" in the contacts view. Zapp your contact is transfered(copied) to SIM. You can do the reverse also. 2. Copy Contacts Phone SIM: Using phone 2.1 Very easy here, Open "Contact", load the "Contact List", locate the contact, press "Options", Select "View", Select "Options", Select "Copy", Select from options "Phone", "SIM" or "SIM(FDN)" wherever you wish to copy your contact to. Rip Music and transfer to phone >> Use this free Music files editor. It is totally free of fees/spyware. You can rip/convert music from any format to any other format. For example CD->mp3, wma->mp3 and you could convert 128Kbps mp3 songs to 92 or lower bit rates to conserve space on phone. more so make your own ring tones, Better use the Samsung PC studio for that and then use this program for edting: 2. Rip Music Videos and transfer to phone >> on similar lines of ripping music this software,above link, is good for changing the characteristics of the video. Suppose you have a music video in .dat/.avi format just use super converter to convert it into .3gp or .mp4 (D820 supports both) and you can resize the video also to 320x240 size. 3. this phone is awesome.i've had it since july 2006 for t-mobile, the instant messaging capabilities are better than the sidekick, I use AIM (it also has yahoo). its so easy to use, no one else seems to have this phone and everyone thinks it looks better than the chocolate. i've dropped it plentty of times and it still works (thank god). camera's great for this kind of phone. no flash, but you cant have it all right? i was going to get the sidekick but i'm glad i got this tiny thing instead. i believe its a great purchase

OMG one of the best phones u can ever get ur hands on!! the only bad things are, weak battery and unable to play music whilst going thru ur phone. but as i just discovered today, when u connect with some one elses bluetooth, u can browse thru their photos, vids music sounds etc and take what u want and u can DELETE them of the persons phone!!! I've had this one for about 6 months, its been a great phone. No problems, everything works like it should, the screen is great quality, its an all round quality phone. Only drawback is you cant have custom SMS tones, and the pre-installed ones sound like they were composed by a gay, or an 11 year old girl. I still highly recommend it.

dear tony, your phone has been attacked by a bluetooth bloover virus. you have to get your phone reprogrammed to fix that. this phone is trash! this morning my whole front part of the phone fell off and samsung don't have any generic parts so its gonna cost me R900 to fix. next time im buying only nokias or sonys. samsung fones are ridiculous!

You can watch video fullscreen ... just press "1" while watching;if you want to zoom a picture ... press the volume key;If you want to view oictures fullscreen ... you need to upgrade your soft.

I am not sure but I have two problems with this phone: 1) I want to use answering machine, but it shows that the memory is full and if I try to open the memory, it will restart. however, i am sure the memory is empty because I never use this feature. 2) I installed windows vista (desktop for xp) and now, I can not use pc suit. the program installs, but can not find the phone. of course it doesn't support 3G. haven't you read the specifications? it's a 180 degrees rotating camera. looks like a frontal camera for video calls but it isn't.

To: "pao" The battery is inserted in the "special cable" for to do that, remember the cable need to be the "serial cable" (sold separately) not the "usb cable" (cable included) Because the serial cable has 3 connectors, the one that goes to the phone, the "serial" that goes to the computer and the last one, the one that goes to the battery...

Hi, I just got a new D820. For some reason the phone does not seem to charge. When I plugged in the charger, the battery icon remains steady and does not flicker. Handy to block certain numbers so the phone sends them directly to voicemail without even reminding you of him/her. You can access this feature from Phonebook menu inside the main menu. For more info go here to read the google translation of russian patch release. 17. DRM ignore. You can now send via MMS files with DRM protection (songs or images downloaded thru t-zones and things like that, I think) 18. Current time shown in phone call screen. So you can know what time it is though you're during a call. 19. Configure aspect of "desktop" screen from menu. Go to menu 9-3-3 (settings > display settings > text display) and see at the bottom for new options, like wether to show date and/or time or not, the translucent strip behind time/date, and the position. You can also hide the text shown at the bottom of the screen describing what those softs buttons do (this option is called "Cover title" in the menu) 20. If continues with the bad reading... maybe the micro sd is defective, try with a second micro sd (maybe of a friend) and if works, the micro sd was defective, if not maybe the card reader is the defective (not hear cases...) and go to the nearest service center =)

Second: Then here we go with your second question... The only way to take in/out data of your phone to the computer and viceversa is with the Samsung PC Studio. To: Cassie Yes, you can only play 30 songs, but 30 songs per "playlist", because you have in your phone 4 playlist to play, and when your done with one list you can change to another with simply 3 clicks in the buttons. This when your music is in your memory card, but if you have it in your phone, just play one and the next will come automatic, even if is more than 30 I recommend before to put your music in your phone keep it organized (in your cpu and then copy to the memory card)in folders of 30 songs, this so that those added are more easy in a future.

@ shinryu thanks it really helps a lot! :D @ai and susun transfering a video and a n mp3 file is just the same.. 1. go to file manager 2. select music or video 3. select music or video again 4. your list of music or video appears 5. select option and choose "move to card" 6. check the selected file you want to transfer and select "move" 7. it's your choice to uncheck the "with caller id" items etc. 8. select move and choose what folder (music, video etc.) 9. select "move here" hope this one helps :D

To: Pao It's the band in wich work your carrier, here in Mexico our carriers work with the bands 850/1900 i think in many parts of south america works with 900 and in others 1800... Really you "don't see the use" of this bands, because is transparent for you, is the infraestructure that makes to work your phone in diferents parts of the world, and is thanks to your carrier. Is for this that teorically a Quadband is better that one with dual band, but if you don't go out of your country, with a simply band is enough for you ;-) But now the tendency is to make the world a world of UMTS=3G and in Japan the 4G ;-) Well, more or less the explanation is there, if you want to go more deeper i'll recomend to you search more specialiced articles on the web, in the classics Yahoo or Google ;-) Here in this post i can't explain "all" this means, but in the web there are many articles, check it out =D

just got this phone, it's pretty wicked so far. looks cool (had great comments bout it from friends) and has good features for cheap. Battery life is fine... i can play songs most of the day and take photos etc and just charge it that night, obviously if you arent using features every second of the day it'll be sweet to run a few days without charge. can't use custom message tones (i.e for receiving sms) but that's no biggie as i have it set to vibrate anyway. Anyway, sweet phone

@ susun transfering a video or a song to its memory card is hustle free, easy as 1-2-3 :D. just click on the file and look for the word "move to" then you can choose from memory card or to a different folder. :D

T-Wreck, Here in the Philippines, the Samsung D820 cost around 15K-16K pesos with 1 year warranty and full pack accesories (64mb memory card, TV out cable, stereo headphones, usb cable with software cd, battery, charger and phone. I saw a much cheaper D820 here in Cebu City which costs around 12k-13k but no warranty and some accessories (no memory card, no TV cable, no stereo headset). Hope this will help.

I used to be able to do the mp3-3gp method for ringtones to my phone, by saving them as 3gp's on WMP but we just got a new computer and the media player won't let me save as another extension unless I upgrade. But always remember that Any F*#@ing gadget no matter what its brand would surely be broken if not taken care of! @Luigi: how can a phone possibly run out of power WHEN being charged ? Try removing the battery, putting it in again, and charge, try to turn on, if nothing happens take it to a workshop, that doens't sound good...

Resume: Really Cold Days = Not So Smoooth, But Still Smooth Normal And Heat Days = Always Smooth To: Chencho You need to go to the service center, and ask if your Sim Card supports 2 numbers, if that just do it, the phone line is in your Sim Card, not in the phone, and yes, this phone can be switched between both lines really easy. I hav the d820 for about 6 months its fast, reliabe and has good performance. i was amazed how quickly it downloads files compared to my previous phone. u can download large files as big as 30 megs dependin on yr memory available. surfing wap is great using opera slower without. on web the phone has poor onboard memory and cuts out. i hav no probs setting mp3s as ringtones. great phone good buy

I used Media Player, played the song that I wanted, use this: File>Save Media As> (Once you are here then name the file MAKE SURE THAT THE NAME IS LESS THAN 47 CHARACTERS OR YOUR PHONE WON'T READ IT! When you name the file name in this format SONGNAME.3gp I saved it directly to the memory card, but you can save it onto the computer and transfer it over. After that just go into the MP3 player and look at the options that say set as and there you go. You can also set the videos that you record as caller ids. Hope this helps!

TO: Aadil There 3 version of this phone D820 (All Deblocked) T809 (All Deblocked) T809 (Blocked By The Operator Service) If you can't set a MP3 like a ringtone, probably, just probably, you have the T809 blocked, how do you know if you have that version, shut down the phone, and turn it on, in the first screen will appear the name of the phone, and if appear T809 propably you have the blocked, if appear D820 then is for something diferent tat you can't set the MP3 like a ringtone.... ;-) Just come again when you already know :-D To: Clayman I think no.... this is not a 3G Phone, is a Quaband, but not 3G (UMTS)

I realy do not have a problem on the battery, mine last for 4 days when using for calls and text messaging only and 2 and half days when using heavily on multimedia specially mp3 musics.

Shinryu and pao: Many thanks guys. I'll defintely buy this phone. I also asked info on the d840 forum and since I don't intend to print large posters the d820 is a good choice. Also the rotating lens appeals to me. My current phone (samsung e810 vga camera)has such a lens and it helps a lot to take nice pics of me with g/f. The only sad thing is that it will be propably after christmas before I get my hands on this one.

Hi everybody :) I have this D820 for about 2 month and in general it's a good phone. But I've noticed that after a month the sliding mechanism doesn't work that good as it should. And now after 2 month it got only worse :( It's really hard to push the top part up, it feels like it's stuck and slides really slowly. It's not that smooth like it was before :(

To Adi hello! if you can't decide yet what to buy between d820 and d840,, i recommend you to buy D820 because i have the same phone for about 2 weeks and i have no regrets buying it. it has all the features that i need and like what you have said, a rotating camera is what we need for a better portrait. =)

TO: aadil * Yes, you can use MP3 Ringtones To : Others The resolution (taking pics) is important, bul also is the software, and the lens, this in 1.3Mpxs is excelent for takin normal pics, of course is deseable have a 2Mpx, but with this 1.3 is enough for me and go to print it, they are all excelent! Generally Configuration: ISO 100, Balance of Whites = Automatic in Day, fixed at night or indoors, quality: Super Fine, And resolution = 1280*1024 The rotatin lens like somesaid before... is excelent for selfportriats..... but if the D840 is more advanced... i would recomend the D840 And like i my T809 (Mexico, by default in the company is deblocked :-D) is a great phone! If you want more Megapixels maybe you will will print many posters ;-)

Great design.Great screen resolution 240x320.Poor photo taking,only 1.3mp.battery lasts 1 1/2day(when you talk much).Great disadvantage,there is no ringing through the headphones when you have an income call.Especially if you drive a moto that's awful.

First you need to transfer a file *.MP3 to the cel, now options and put it like a ringtone... If you have the Blocked version of D820/T809 you can't do this... But if you are the owner of the free version of D820/T809 you can do it.... Here in Mexico is the T809 and yes i can put Mp3 files like ringtone ;-)

hi, guys. i have two guestions (or more). msgs in sentbox dont seem to have the date and time the msg sent. is it supposed to be like this? or is it the setting? if latter, how do i change it? and i noticed that, when i play a video clip from microSD, the video and audio seem to go out of sync, as it plays towards the end. does anybody know how to fix this problem? other than these (and a few other minor issues), it's a great phone. bought it about 6 months ago, no problem. quite happy. as for battery, yeah, i charge it almost every day.

to Steve.B, try to shorten or cut the title name or file name of your other music because the phone has the tendency of not reading a music file with long title name or file name. Hope this will help.

Phone is really very good except for the battery life. for my usage, I need to charge it every day. It's packed with features. It's got a 1.3 MP camera. Pic quality is ok if not fantastic. The highlight is the bright screen. 256K colors is really great.

Hi! About some popular Samsung mobile phones: X820 : It gets easily warm while you are talking with, the lens(2Mp) and the sensor(CMOS) is the same as D600 but picture quality is not as good as D600. Besides battery performance is very poor. The TFT screen is very good but D820/D830/D600/E900�s are better. D820/D830 : High quality constructions and the screens are amazing. But battery performans are poor (especially D820). Picture quality is not so good (indoors photos are very bad, because of lack of flash) E900 : Touchsensitive control pad is very nice(especially in the dark) Poor battery performans, picture quality is not as good as D600. D820 has better slider mechanism than E900. D600 : Very good screen/battery performance/picture quality. But the lens get easily dirty and be damaged because it has no lens cover. I have recently bought a samsung D820 mobile phone and I really like it.... its very cool. I have yesterday bought a micro sd memory card and i upgraded the memory to 1 gb. I succeeded to transfer the files into the memory card from the phone, however I am not sure whether you can take a video and record it directly to the memory card in this way you will have much more time for video recording. da phone has the nicest picture quality for a 1.3 mega pixel camera. user friendly. responds quickly rite after u press the button. the only problem is the battery, talk time is barely 2 hours straight and it can only last for about 18 hours both on stand by and talking.

If you start pc-studio the phone must have in modem mode, menu,9,2,6 select "modem" , but if you want to transfer MP3 direct to the Micro SD put in mode USB Mass Storage in the same menu ;-)

Love the phone, but i cant seem to get music onto it. I installed the PCStudio and the USB drivers but when i open up PCStudio and the ConnectionWizard opens it takes like 2 hours and still it wont go on and so when i open up PCStudio it says not connected.Does anybody know whats wrong? I also bought a 1gb MicroSD card, will it work??

to eddie shanpru, Pls. elaborate what kind of file extension of videos and music or sound that this phone does not support becuase as far as I have experience it supports videos (mp4,3gp), sound(mp3,amr,midi,imy and acc) and for pictures/documents (jpg, bitmap, gif, ani, pic, doc, xls, ppt, pdf and other microsoft office documents). So maybe you are not using this phone because I cannot understand what are you talkin about. As for the sms, I think it is the easiest, I have already everything I wanted as far as i am concern. It is fast and responsive, plus d820 sms has all the advance features you can add when inputing text. If you want smileys in your text then put the sms mode to T9 and press 1. So still, I can't relate to you, maybe you are so d**b that you cannot figure it out even you have the manual. eddie shanpru, this phone is far very advance for you to have. So I suggest do not use this phone because you cannot cope up with it, you are just too slow minded.

Its an excellent and sleek looking phone.but the problem with it is its certain features.it cannot support certain songs and videos(shows unsupported file format).too less zooming power.no infrared.poor sms capabilities,like less punctuations and other extras.the keypad buttons cannot even be muted.these are some of the limitations besides the heating of the phone when in use.is there any possibility of upgrading the phone and improve these limitations???if so,do let me know of some improvements.

To PIMP: Maybe All your problems is because you have a defective phone, and maybe too had the blocked version of D820, because not all the T809 are bloked, here in mexico this phone is named T809 with America Movil and have all functions including the Mp3 for phone calls, excelent camera, exact time for the display light, and like i said upper, maybe you have a defectve cellphone of this version, go to the service center ;-) To ??ummm?? this is by far the worst phone that i have ever had. the display goes black but the keys will stay lit. i have to wait for the back light on my keys to go off then i have to hit the red phone key just to get my phone to turn back on. 40-50 times a day my entire display goes into mirror image meaning that the entire display is backwards but since the phone doesnt realize that i see the display backwards all the fuctions remain the same. It flashes off and on uncontrollably and powers off 3 or 4 times a day, at times it takes an hour or more to turn back on. you cant assign mp3's as ringtones and the camera sucks. i work for a cell phone company and i reviewed this phone before getting but i have to say i was really disappointed with it. The only good thing about this phone is the memory for sms and downloads. i hate having to delete text messages everyday with this phone i usually get well over 200messages sent and receieved before i have to delete.

D820 is ok phone. When I flip the camera to the fornt and take my own picture, the image shown on the screen is reversed. Is this normal? Or is this a manufacture defect.

If you donload the video on the internet, just use the Movie Editor of the Samsung Pc Studio.... or something like that, copy the video on the bottom bar, press "Proces" a upper button, and save like Mp4 or 3gp in a resolution of 320*240 or 176 (for mms). And Done ready. If you want to transfer files to the phone use the Samsung Pc Studio or Usb Mass Storage (Memory Card "Micro Sd") See Ya! :-D

hey all. i've got a little problem with my phone and if anyone could help me i would appreciate it. when i ipen up the "samsung pc studio" i usually go to "edit movies" so i can change the bit rate of my videos so they would get smaller. However, it't not allowing me to open up any of my video files. and yes, i looked at the types of files that it supports, but it still doesn't work. is there someting else i could do or not? i hope that someone would be able to help me. thank you in advance.

hi everyone, i have just bought a samsung D820. it is so sleek n wonderful n definitely worth the money. but i m havin two problem with the headset, NOT A BLUETOOTH HEADSET, BUT THE HEADSET PROVIDED ALONG WITH THE MOBILE. First of all, when i answer a call using the headset i can't hear the other person. but my headphone microphone is working fine and the other person can hear my voice. for the headset question, just search for "a/v bluetooth headset". As with the memory card problem, before you plug in your phone, got to menu>settings>phone settings>USB settings and set it to mass storage, then connect it to your computer. You should be able to see it as a folder/drive where you can just drag and drop things. Hope it solves your prob.

to john, yes, definitely the d820 can record conversation during call, well at least with the asian firmware. during in-calls, my d820 has these following options: 1. voice clarity on/voice clarity off 2.mute/unmute 3.mute keys/send keys 4.phonebook 5.send DTMF 6.message 7.join 8.split 9.transfer 10.remove 11.end held call 12.SIM service 13.switch to headset/switch to phone 14.Conv. record - record your call conversation. No. 14 is the answer to your question.

3 months with the phone and I'd say the Phone is good in may ways except the sliding mechanism. It is worse than the earlier samasung sliding phones. Every time you slide the phone it goes to either text messaging or old nos. Secondly, the phone does not support a whole lot of other music downloaded even if it has .mp3 extension. The phone memory sometimes just does not allow playing the song from memory card. the keys are slippery and unless you have fingers (rubber tipped)you will end up dialling wrong number. Menu takes a little getting used to but when u get the hang of it. the going gets easy. Overall it is an okay phone for what it boasts.

To DANOO To make sure the wallpapers will fit on your screen be sure of the wllpaper uploaded is a image with 240*320 of resolution, any diference will cause some problems, like empty space in the borders, it's because the phone resize the image to show the complete picture ;-) Go to zedge.net :-D

It looks awesome, I think the slide function is a little stiffer than D800 but I like this over the D800 as it has better keypad and look. However, the screen of D820 is not as bright and the size of the letters are smaller than D800, but thats something one can deal with. I tend to use the phone with minimal background brightness to reserve battery anyway. Now to compare the D820 and D800 with D600. 1st, Stuff the camera, who gives a dam*? who intend to take important pictures with a phone? as with those emergency ones or those of your friends and family, which would be view on the phone anyway, what will a mere 0.7mp do any difference? on to the look, simply, D600 look a piece of crap...round...big...chuncky...cylindrical...bla­�ck...hahaha even if it has the GREATEST function in the world, even if it has a 3mp cam, internal 5Gb memory, 3G etc, I would not want to buy it. It reminds me of E800 with is a girls phone and the E800 looks way better anyway. Also, do one really need 3G? i mean...talking with the phone in your hand by your ear is already annoying...(thats why people designed a little thing called hands free) now talking with your arm out in front of you, looking at the phone while you talk? crazy...not to mention you gotta brush your hair (or for some people put make up on)before you can make a call? absolutely annoying! The thing annoys me with the D820 is that I dont understand why they hide the real screen behind a wall of clear plastic (maybe thats why some people say it collect dust? because it has a layer of empty space in between)? whereas you can see directly on the screen for D800 which is why it is brighter! A good advice for advoiding dust collection is to try not to press on the screen too much as this creates crack / leaks on the side of the screen where dust and infitrate. I had a V3 and the clear coating of the keypad starts peeling off after a month of normal usage and I dont have long fingernails! Will never buy those phone with that kind of so call "fashionable" keypad again...will stick to good old plastic like this D820 from now on. I had a E398 before too and it was really fun, too bad samsung phone cant be modified so easily like motorola's do. Also, for multimedia... I cant believe someone could actually watch movies on a 240x320 screen...wouldnt that give your sore eyes? I never use the video fuction to watch any movies...waste battery...a phone is a phone, if you want a good camera, get a real camera, if you want a real multimedia device, get a iRiver or something...I either drive or work or at home or with friends. none of these activities require the multimedia function of a phone... you cant listen to mp3 at work, you dont want to use that mp3 at home coz you got a $5000 stereo or at least a computer, you cant replace the stereo in the car and you will look like an as* listening to mp3 while you are out with friends! sure it is fun to take some photos whenever you want, but does that require a 2/3mp cam? what are you trying to do anyway? spy on people? take pictures in the changing room? dont think so! (may not be true for some people though haha). Also for some of those who heard things about how korea has 7mp phone and are jealous...there is no need to be, most of these >5/6mp cam are interpolated, which means it is actually a 1/2/3mp camera but uses some method (dont want to and cant explain) to make it look like a higher pixel image. it is not real, it is like a very clear way to digitally enlarge / zoom in the image. think about it a real 5/6mp digital cam cost heaps and is often quite big. fitting in to a low cost phone is impossible. Not to mention there are no optical zoom in a mobile phone yet. These kind of interpolated camera are cheap, I can get a 10mp one easy for about $200-300 in New Zealand / Asia.

And one last comment, tha camera is good, maybe 1.3 isn't so good, but this is another hint, if you don't move while takin the picture the result is awesome! Obiusly if you move even a little the result is poor. And Dont't forget, if you wanna take better pictures put the mode on ISO100. The capture is more faster compared with ISO400. So don't put in automatic, put it in ISO100. Make the test ;-)

I was holding in my hands. The construction is damn high-quality! At first sight it dosn't seem so sturdy. However, the pictures from its camera isn't so good. Just a plain 1.3MP. Video record and the business functions are nice. Display is amazing also. Very amazing.

WEAK BATTERY SOLUTION: Almost everyone copmlaining from the weak battery. To overcome this problem, For all my phones I buy another battery, charge it and carry it with me all the time to replace the discharged one. And I dont have any problem at all.

TO PAUL: 512MB proved good for my D600, X700 and D820. I bought 1GB for the D820 and used for about 10 days then it became unreadable it fail to transfer video clip from phone memory to the 1GB memory card. I tried my best to fix the problem,but failed. So I destroyed the 1GB memory card since it contains personal data, and came back to 512MB. I do know was the fault from the phone or the Sandisk memory card. I want to try again, but hesetant. it is a real stylish,slick,modern phone. the on board memory is awesome but the battery life is not so great.i was in such a rush to buy this phone that i soon realize that the d900 came out with 3 mega pixel.ja so my only complaint is that the battery life span is short and that you cant use mp3 as a message tone.other than that its an awesome phone

its a good fone and all.. iuse the t809.... its definitely quite good.. with the slim and sleek design and plentiful functions. The only bad point is that the phone only has a 1.3mp camera. But its a good 1.3mp. If you arn't too fussy about picture quality, i think its actually comparable to a 2mp camera. I must say that its really user friendly. Much friendlier then Nokia symbian operating system.

sorry, some typo mistake in the previous post. To unknown: If you own a T809, I dont think you can set your phone to Ring and Vibrate at the same time. T809 is the locked version of D820. But if your phone is D820 just go to sound settings>Incoming call>and choose "Melody and Vibration" for ring type.

To Devin: Maybe you can try its not really that great.. but still not bad.. To unknown: If you own a T809. You can set your phone to vibrate and ring at the same time. But if your phone is D820 just go to sound settings>Incoming call>and choose "Melody and Vibration" for ring type. To CC: Shouldn't be a problem if you use the Samsung PC Studio 3. Just open the "Manage files" and copy the pictures to "Downloaded Pictures". You CANT download them to "Photos". When taking photos, you can actually flip the screen over by pressing on the volume buttons on the side of the phone. In fact, the volume buttons can be used for zooming in/out photos in ur "photos" folder. To tabish: I guess you are using the T809. I've already posted a few times on the method to set MP3 ringtones on T809. Let me copy it out again: You first have to set your ringtone as a MP3 file then you go through those steps. it should work! 1. Put the mp3 song on your PHONE. (if its on your Memory Card it wont be able to select it as a ringtone later) 2. Go to incoming call settings 3. Select ringtone to see all available (Make sure that your current ringtone is MP3. there should be a couple songs already on your phone that you are able to set as a ringtone, but they suck, of course) 4. Find desired song (it should be greyed out and non-selectable) 5. Then just Highlight it 6. Click middle button (even though it will not allow you to this, the step if a must) 7. Press BACK button 8. Press save. (EVEN THOUGH THE RINGTONE IS STILL THE SAME AS BEFORE BUT SAAAAVE AnyWAYS!) 9. Go back and check your incoming call and it should be whichever song you highlighted. If your phone is shown to be not connected to the PC, close Samsung Studio Programme and restart your phone. Try connecting again. It should work.

The only flaw is downloading songs which is not fully satisfactory. I am sure users will agree. Use the highest resolution like the SXGA size resolution and not the mobile size resolution anyway it accepts all kinds of resolution to be used as a photocall. Maybe do not bother to use the photo call because you can use the video call feature and still the phone accepts any kind of video resolution to be used as a video caller id. Hope this will help.

yes, the default sound is loud enough and also the downloaded ones. mp3 usually low in volume but it is loud enough to hear when you set it as ringtone as well as the alarm alert. I have recorded voices with my mates and use it as a alarm alert and it is effective and very loud. what would you expect in phone? to sound like a hifi component system? using the external speaker? well that would be impossible for a phone. But i guess the sound reproduction of this phone is amazing. One of the best sounded phone in the market as well as the ear phone with 3d functions.

to mahir what do you mean boring? What do you want it to do dance in your lap? I have no problem with sound volume (you know theres a volume control thats can get too loud in my opinion...especially some of the alarm chirps. It easily wakes me up if I have to use it as an alarm clock (You can set an mp3 or a chirp for the alarm sound) And as for file support...it supports mp3, mp4, excel, word, document viewer...what else files do you need? To criticize the earpiece is rediculous. Go buy a new earphones for christs sake. This is why I like this phone...young kiddies arent going to all have this phone. Its not like razr where every 13 year old you see on the street is holding it. Its professional, very useful, practical, but also great looking.

just baught this phone a week ago......to be honest i am sick of it....its such a bouring piece..though the bluetooth is surprisingly fast,tv output is great...the sound quality is as low as a whisper..it sucks..the earphones are so big ,they dont go in my big ears..the sound is lower than moto l7.also it does not support many file format..it has 3d sound which inturn decresses the sound.. better opt nokia 6131...excellent to its name... not meant for young guys like me.....

well as far as i know, the phone automatically lock the keys when it is slide down and it is a special default function and we cannot do anything about it. Logically this function is useful. oh and battery life isnt too bad imo. If i dont do much talking it lasts at least 4+ days. Havent really had it long enough where Ive talked on it for a very long time though. But you can charge the phone through USB or a wall jack (or car adapter) so if it does run out no problem

The phone guy: Check if you are using Samsung T809. T809 is the T-mobile version. It is the locked version of the D820. If you do some research, you will find out that you are losing out on a lot of functions.

The phone guy, The d820 has five (5) options and these are the ff: 1. melody 2. vibrate 3. vibrate and melody and the same time 4. vibrate then melody 5. melody then vibrate to conserve battery life: 1. put the brigthness of the display to level 1 and still you will get amazing display 2. deactivate bluetooth when not in use 3. set keypad backlight into use only at night (duration 9:00 am to 5 pm-no keypad light) FYI

Nobody has noticed that u only have three otions to set up the incoming call ringtone? If u put it in Melody option it will only ring in ascending mode there is no way to change it. If u want to make it vibrate u cannot make it vibrate and sound at the same time in only vibrates 4 times and then it rings in ascending mode, by the way if u leave the phone in the desk and stand up u will miss the call (u wont feel it vibrate and by the time u hear it is too late). You cannot set up your own ringtones for the incoming text messages. It is amazing how samsung could do a phone like this with that kind of handicaps in the menu.Pls!!!!!!

I think if your using SAMSUNG PC STUDIO 3, you just have to close the program and disconnect your phone from pc. But if you are using the MASS STORAGE option, you have to safely remove your hardware just the same as removing your external drives such as flash drives before disconnecting your phone from the usb connector. Hope this will help.

I just got this phone last week and I really like it. I've been a loyal Nokia guy and didnt want to change but this phone is just too cool looking. User interface and functions are not as smart as the the Nokia but it's still good enough. One thing I need help with, how can I set an mp3 for the messege tone? Ring tone is no problem, but it wont let me do the messege tone. Another thing, how come I can only edit pictures that I took using the phone? All the pics I imported cannot be edited. Anyone else have these problems?

Got this phone a couple weeks ago....not understanding HOW people dont know how to set mp3's as ringtones. In menu=settings=sound settings=incoming call click on the ringtone option, scroll over to 'downloaded songs' and just choose your song. Thats what I like about this phone. Its so EASY to transfer music and pictures onto the phone for ringtones and wallpapers. (using USB from computer) There is ONE ringtone that comes with the phone that actually sounds like a ringer and not some weird song, which is a little lame. But I guess if you want more traditional sounding rings you can just download them onto your computer from kazaa or something and just slide them onto your phone. Great phone, very mature and sleek looking, great sound, quadband is VERY nice if you live in North America, my phone came with a 64megabyte memory chip which gives me tonnes of room. (even without the chip its room for alot of songs and pictures) Ive dropped it/sat on it a bunch of times and its still fine. Screen is soo bright (my buddy with the razr was really amazed by how small the ports were and how big the screen was) I wish the menus were a little more customizable...thats the only drawback for me.

Great video, Vibration and Ringing at the same time and the terrific Picsel Viewer. From what i know, you guys using T809 are deprived of these functions. I feel really sorry for you guys. This phone can open word, excel, powerpoint, TXT, PDF,htm, Jpeg(if file can't be opened by photo viewer,because of high resolution or unsupported format, move to memory card first, then the picsel viewer will open. Picsel viewer will not open Jpeg files stored in the photo folder of the phone memory. Thats what I have tried, but it could open more format.

larry: this phone can display ms word files through the picsel viewer... you can't really see the picsel viewer in on the menu of this phone.. once you select a word file from your phone or memory card, it will automatically open it with picsel viewer.. i think ms powerpoint and excel can be viewed using this one too.. as for photos, jpeg files are opened with the default photo viewer of the phone while other types of photos such as bitmap, gif, etc are opened through the picsel viewer... hope this helps... :D

i saw one posting that says this phone doesn't accept business cards from other phones... well in fact this phone can receive business cards from other phones... once you receive the business card, open the message then select "cut media" from the options... you will then see the number that has been sent to you via business card and from there you can save it.... :D

Hi, i believe, there is a post in the samsung x700 how to set your sound any louder. I do not have any problem with the level of the sound, maybe you should go the samsung service to have a tip to increase the loudness of your phone. There is a software to increase the loudness and that is the "ADOBE AUDITION 1.5". There you can increase the volume by +10 db or greater and a lot more.

Chris: have you checked how big the video is? Your memory card might be empty, but it could be smaller than the video size you're trying to move. D820 has interal 80Mb memory. So, it can make movies up to that big. If you have a memory (for example, 32Mb/64Mb) smaller than 80Mb, there's a possibility that your video might exceed the size of the memory card. qt: Where are you? You might wanna check with your cell phone provider coz some of the parameters for mms might be wrong. The other possiblity (not too sure) is that you're trying to send mms cross provider. Some providers don't allow this. anyone: I assume you're in US. Stay with your provider for at least 6 months, they'll unlock it for you. There are other ways, but I don't suggest them though. You can try googling and usually, there are 2 ways to unlock them. 1. You send some information (like your IMEI number, hardware version, etc. etc.) and they'll e-mail you back some codes. 2. You have to send your phone somewhere and they'll unlock it with a flasher. The 1st one is safer, not only because you don't actually have to send your phone (and lost 'em somewhere along the way), but if the code doesn't work, the worst thing that could happen is you'll have a locked phone (there's a small possibility of a dead phone). The second one on the other hand, if not done properly, you'll have a dead phone, or worst, a fried phone. FYI, updating info on my battery, someone said that I might confuse people, but I'm just stating facts that happened to me. And here's a new one.. hehehe. Again, this is just FYI... I charged my phone to full capacity. I changed my memory card from 1Gb to 64Mb (empty). I erased all my pics and movies and text message (like new phone but with contacts). I then turned it off for a day. Then, I turned it back on and leave it like that on my table (the only function I use was alarm, SIM card in its slot and full signal). The battery's indicator stayed full for 3 full days (72 hours). Sometimes on the 4th day (96 hours later), it dropped to 2. 12 hours later, it dropped to 1. And stayed there till now (122 hours later). So, what's the point of me telling this story? Nothing really.. Just thought you guys wanna know how long D820 battery can last if you use it as an alarm clock.

Hi, I can't seem to transfer a video from phone to the memory card. Even though the memory card is completely empty, the phone tries to "move" the file over for about 1 minute and then it says memory full. How can I get a video from "my videos" on the phone moved over to the memory card? Thanks

The samsung sgh N500, a monochrome screen phone which has the anwering machine features where you can record your voice to be a default answering voice whenever there is no answer from your phone or you can choose to a pre installed answering voice. this phone also has voice dailling option and i knew it because i owned one before. I also believe that the D900 has the ability to send SMS messages automatically which the user has pre installed whenever there is no answer from your phone and you have a missed call, but i am not sure though because i dont own one, it is just stated at the manual. For the D820, here in asia, our phone is equipped with SOS messaging feature which you can set a message to multiple contacts whenever you are in an emergency. To do that, just press the side key four times in standby mode and the pre set message will be sent autmatically to the contacts your have chose. The phone will be on SOS mode until somebody replies you or you want exit it by pressing the hang up key. Oh by the way i have observed that in the mp3 player, you can repeat certain part of a track by pressing 7 for the beginning part of the track to be repeated and again 7 for the end part of the track to be repeated. To cancel the operation, just press 7 and the player is on normal mode. FYI

Co: How did you try to send it? Try using Samsung PC Studio. It works fine with me. If not, just copy the photos to your memory card, and use a memory card reader. Or you can just connect your phone as a mass storage. It'll allow you to access the files in your memory card without needing any extra softwares. xiangster: I haven't seen any cell phones with this function since most of cell phone providers have a mailbox service for free. In Indonesia, most of people don't even want to use this function since nobody actually listens to 'em. Hahahahaha.. We prefer text message over mailbox.

Babar: Nope, no lighting scheme here. It doesn't even have a light for signal strength or light that lets you know you have a text message or missed calls. The phone is not "plain" it's sleek and smooth design. I haven't found any Samsung that allows you to change the phone covers. If you're looking for a lighting scheme and changeable faceplates, you might wanna take a look at Nokia. I know there's a Motorola that also has lighting scheme, but not too sure about the changeable faceplates. Not too sure of the specific models of both brands though.

I was using Nokia from 1980s untill jan 2006, I bought Samsung X700 and I was amazed with the features that samsung has and I bought D820 and found has more features which icludes: 1- Alarm manager: Five alarms working on selected days of the week. 2- Privacy: a password option on call register, phonebook, images, video, music, sounds, other files, and memory card. 3- one hour voice recording. 4- optional SMS remider every 2 or 1 minutes. 5- Answer machine which answer gthe caller and record his message. 6- several dialling fonts. 7- rich mms and picture SMS templates. 8- TV out: connect your phone to TV and watch your good quality recorded video and downloaded video,and you can see your phone screen menu also. All these features are absent in Nokia. Samsung has rich and bright screen. The quality of 1.3 MP camera of Samsung is better than 2MP camera in my N70. Both Nokia N70 and D820 record and play MP4 CIF video. Nokia N70 can't play Video recorded by Samsung, but Samsung plays Video recorded by Nokia which mean Samsung has more efficient MP4 player. This what I can remember so far. D820 is great phone. I strongly recommend this phone to any one. About the battary, it is not a big issue. I bought another battaery and I charged and keep with me as a backup. I do this with all phones. So I never enountered any problem.

CJ: better is kinda depend on somebody's point of view. I know people who is so brand minded that they prefer one brand to the other, even though you can see from the spec that the other brand is better. Also, it all depends on have you ever used a Samsung before. Every cell phone has different User Interface. Some people are not used to the Samsung's UI so that they give D820 a bad review. But it all goes back to what you're looking on a phone. Above CJ: Can't put cell phone strap on D820.

Hahahaha... I did have a good time with my D820 (and still am). Sorry if I ever confused anyone. But my battery life from the beginning is just not that great (2 days max but that DOESN'T mean this phone suck). I can't get more than that. But this problem (battery died after 7 hours or so) just came up to me 2 days ago. So, yes, I think there's something wrong with the battery. The other possibilities are problems with the phone itself or the charger. I haven't got a chance to bring it to Samsung yet. But I think the problem started with the charger. I NEVER unplugged the charger from the wall. I just leave it as is. And when I need to charge my D820, I just plug the connector to my cell phone. So, the charger seems to work 24/7 for the last 2 months (I started to think that it's a bad idea to do such thing). I could be wrong though. But so far, I have no problem with my other chargers. I'm also using O2 XDA II (1 year running) and (blush) Nokia 6280 (also around 2 months)..... But Nokia only for back up phone :-D.

Come on JT, i doubt if you are the same guy who is always helping some user in this forum and if you are, how come that only this time you posted this problem in your phone considering you have used it for many months. You are only confusing the readers of this forum and your opinion is debatable knowing that samsung batteries will reach its effectiveness and full potentials every charging you make and that is the truth. I know in my own personal experience, initially the batteries are not push to thier limits for initial or second time of charging only. My battery lasted 2-3 days with full use of phone (music, games, calls, texting and internet browsing) and 4 days without using the multimedia features. Well you opinion regarding the battery is confusing. I guess maybe your battery is defective. It is better to bring it to Samsung Service Center while the warranty lasts. Oh then, at least "YOU HAD A GOOD TIME" with Samsung D820 and that is more important.

Finally, after months of having a good time with this phone, I'm experiencing what others been complaining about.. The short battery life. Sure, 2 days at 1 charge is pushing the limit, but not using the phone and CANNOT even last a day at one charge??? I'm bringing mine in to Samsung tomorrow. Wish my phone luck.

To Vladimir: I really glad that you enjoy using your T809. However, i must tell you that D820 a actually a better phone. I'm not i'm biased or what where. The functions are clearly much better. T809 is actually the locked version of D820. If you like T809, I guess you would be estatic if u get D820. D820 can certainly set MP3 files as ringtones. We need not convert them to .3gp format or whatever. For T809, Under normal conditions, you actually can't set your own mp3 files as ringtone. However, worry not. I've posted a solution to this problem back in this forum(at page 4). From what i know from other forums, the T809 actually do NOT have the TV-out function and the Piscel Viewer(document viewer). These are actually some of the most excusive functions on my D820. T-mobile ruin the phone. Alas.

This handset is great, I'm in love with its sleek design and crystal clear LCD. I also like the camera, even though its only 1.3 mpixel picture clarity is comparable to a 2.0 mpixel camera. The fact is this is a great phone. I have had it for a while and it works fine. First it you can set mp3's as ringtones. You have to have the T809 from T-mobile though, not the D820. They have slight differences in the way they work. If you want MP3's as ringtones, before you put them onto your fone, change the extension to .3gp, transfer to your microsd card, and then copy to the phone. Thats how you get MP3's to work as ringtones. Second this phone has a great screen with great resolution. The video and picture quality is also great. I record with it and get videos and pictures onto my computer all the time and its very easy. The only problem i had is dust collecting inside the screen. I went to a T-mobile store and they are sending me a new one. Overall this is one of the best phones you could have. Its easy to use, it has tons of options, displays great pictures, has alot of memory, great speakerphone, and the thing just looks cool as hell. I always see people staring at it while i use it. I would recommend this phone to anyone. The only problem you might have other than the dust behind the screen is with the battery. The first one I got, the battery would just run out an hour or so after charging. All you gotta do is take it back to the store and they will give u a new one.

Just laid my hands on Samsung D-820. I was using a Nokia 6670 so getting accustomed was a little difficult. It has a good set of features but it's a whole lot iffirent from a smartphone.. Lovely sound though. Eliminates any need of a mp3 player when paired up with the bundled set of earphones..

Elena: you can convert musics from audio CD to mp3s by using software like iTunes from apple. You can then transfer the music from the PC a couple different ways. The easiest way would be using a card reader so that you can transfer your songs directly to your memory card. If you don't have a card reader, you can change your usb setting in your phone as mass storage. It will then recognize your phone as a mass storage. However, you need to have your memory card inside the phone in order for this to work, because the mass storage is basically your memory card inside the phone. WOW: it's kinda hard to explain over this forum, but you can hold on to your phone by holding firmly the SIDES of your phone with your index finger and thumb. Then, using the other hand, use your thumb's nail to slide the battery cover, while at the same time, using your other fingers from the same hand, make a counter force from the top of the phone but just below the battery cover. Hmmm.. Even I'm lost right now, but you should get the idea.. hehehehehe cv: yes, you can convert DVD movies so that you can watch it in your phone. My suggestion is use available softwares out there to convert DVD movies into something more general (like avi, mpeg, etc. etc.). You can then use Video Total Converter and convert that file into mp4 files. I can't give you any names for converting DVD into avi or mpeg coz I haven't use those myself. What I usually use to convert DVD into a movie file can be found at www.doom9.org. But since you're not a technical person, it may take a while to learn, but it's free. Keep on trying... Oh, don't forget, you're gonna need a big memory card too to hold the movies. I don't suggest watching DVD movie out of your phone though. Besides the small screen, it'll suck up the battery real fast.

What are you talking about? It has 4 different reminding tones to choose from and they are loud, and if you missed it, there is ALWAYS a little annoying blue clock like icon on the top right corner of the screen even when you are in other menus. And the reminding message should never go away befor you read it too. As for name card...get the real thing!

Hey, all you have to do is go back to your contact, edit (just click the middle i button when the name is highlighted), scroll down and you will find the option of having a picture or a video. It should be right underneath the email section and has a little icon of a blue person. cheers

Sold my 7710 and bought this beauty 2 days ago and it didn't dissapoint me. Its a nice phone but lacks customization of the UI.On the other hand the build quality is way better then the nokia;s and the se's. (have used n6600,n7610,n6280,n7710 & se k700i,se z530i). pros: great display. great speaker. super sexy @ distinctive appearence. cons: uncustomizable user interface. not so good earphones. QUS:how to view clicked photos in full screen? BOTTOM LINE -I highly recommend this phone.

oh but why SE when I can have SAMSUNG in my hand. Everything SE can offfer is avialable in SAMSUNG and SAMSUHNG is more practical and idaal. SE is a sister 0f NOKIA in terms of functionality and mind you people, the software lags behind and not easy to service because they offer more function which more complicated and does not conform in our needs. Samsung behaves so well that it does not folow the footsteps of SE, imEtating the function of its bigger rival, NOKIA. The thing I love samsung is that they build interface which we can use everyday and not disguising something which cannot sort of,or we can deal of. Even NOKIA and SE embedd more function but they cannot take SAMSUNG away.Take my word, SAMSUNG will play on them and as a user of SAMSUNG phones,i am very satisfied because it answers my all my need in a phone and as a multimedia stuff.

Also, for multimedia... I cant believe someone could actually watch movies on a 240x320 screen...wouldnt that give your sore eyes? I never use the video fuction to watch any movies...waste battery...a phone is a phone, if you want a good camera, get a real camera, if you want a real multimedia device, get a iRiver or something...I either drive or work or at home or with friends. none of these activities require the multimedia function of a phone... you cant listen to mp3 at work, you dont want to use that mp3 at home coz you got a $5000 stereo or at least a computer, you cant replace the stereo in the car and you will look like an as* listening to mp3 while you are out with friends! sure it is fun to take some photos whenever you want, but does that require a 2/3mp cam? what are you trying to do anyway? spy on people? take pictures in the changing room? dont think so! (may not be true for some people though haha). Also for some of those who heard things about how korea has 7mp phone and are jealous...there is no need to be, most of these >5/6mp cam are interpolated, which means it is actually a 1/2/3mp camera but uses some method (dont want to and cant explain) to make it look like a higher pixel image. it is not real, it is like a very clear way to digitally enlarge / zoom in the image. think about it a real 5/6mp digital cam cost heaps and is often quite big. fitting in to a low cost phone is impossible. Not to mention there are no optical zoom in a mobile phone yet. These kind of interpolated camera are cheap, I can get a 10mp one easy for about $200-300 in New Zealand / Asia.

It looks awesome, I think the slide function is a little stiffer than D800 but I like this over the D800 as it has better keypad and look. However, the screen of D820 is not as bright and the size of the letters are smaller than D800, but thats something one can deal with. I tend to use the phone with minimal background brightness to reserve battery anyway. Now to compare the D820 and D800 with D600. 1st, Stuff the camera, who gives a dam*? who intend to take important pictures with a phone? as with those emergency ones or those of your friends and family, which would be view on the phone anyway, what will a mere 0.7mp do any difference? on to the look, simply, D600 look a piece of crap...round...big...chuncky...cylindrical...bla­ck...hahaha even if it has the GREATEST function in the world, even if it has a 3mp cam, internal 5Gb memory, 3G etc, I would not want to buy it. It reminds me of E800 with is a girls phone and the E800 looks way better anyway. Also, do one really need 3G? i mean...talking with the phone in your hand by your ear is already annoying...(thats why people designed a little thing called hands free) now talking with your arm out in front of you, looking at the phone while you talk? crazy...not to mention you gotta brush your hair (or for some people put make up on)before you can make a call? absolutely annoying! The thing annoys me with the D820 is that I dont understand why they hide the real screen behind a wall of clear plastic (maybe thats why some people say it collect dust? because it has a layer of empty space in between)? whereas you can see directly on the screen for D800 which is why it is brighter! A good advice for advoiding dust collection is to try not to press on the screen too much as this creates crack / leaks on the side of the screen where dust and infitrate. I had a V3 and the clear coating of the keypad starts peeling off after a month of normal usage and I dont have long fingernails! Will never buy those phone with that kind of so call "fashionable" keypad again...will stick to good old plastic like this D820 from now on. I had a E398 before too and it was really fun, too bad samsung phone cant be modified so easily like motorola's do.

Elena: D820 (and most of Samsung phones) does not have an auto save sent items. You have to choose the option of "send and save". Otherwise, it won't save your messages in the sent box. You can't change the default setting. D820 is not a multitasking phone. You can't do 2 things at once. Jotham: Like I said on my previous thread, I assumed you have the T-Mobile version. Alas, you have the unlocked version. I believe the code I mentioned only works for T-Mobile version since they lock a lot of features. As for the unlocked D820, you should get a fully functional D820 that does not require any other codes. There are limitations to what a phone can do. W610i is a Walkman phone. They designed it to be a phone AND a walkman. Sony W series phone have great speakers, I know that for a fact. As for D820, it's more towards a fashion phone, where it looks good, but able to do basic functions too (and more). It is widely known (I think it is) that Samsung (or any other GSM Korean phones) doesn't do a great job in the speaker department. It's just so so. They designed it so that you can hear the music in a reasonable amount of volume. Also, Samsung's speakers have good treble but bad bass. Now, I don't know how loud you want your phone to be, but mine works perfectly fine. I can play mp3s and people around me (radius of 5-6 meters) can hear the music just fine. If you really want your D820 to be a music player, you can use the cable provided for TV out, buy an adaptor for the red and white cable (sound signals) to be a regular 2.5mm headphone jack (male or female) and plug it into a speaker. Coine: D820 battery is not the best, it does have a poor standby time. My phone heats up too when I hear musics, but it heats up after more than 3 songs, not as fast as yours. I think it all depends on the usage (the sound settings and how loud it is). Lately, I've been watching movie clips off my D820, but it doesn't heat up as much. Maybe I'm used to it, or maybe it only happens when you listen to musics and taking videos.

I think the heating up of the phone while playing music is normal becuase i believe the phone has a built in digital power amp and it is normal just like in your TVs and audio equipment. At least your phone is releasing heat and working perfectly. My phone also emits heat and i am not troubled al all. Samsung batteries, as i have experienced is working better and better until it reaches to its full capacity every charging.

Hi, i would like to know if u guys have experience the phone warming up while takeing a video or playing the only one or two Mp3 songs ? I ve bought this phone for about 2 wks ago... i was disappointed in the 1st place when i got it as the battery is'nt as good as my previous phone E600C . I had charged it 8 hours on the 1st day as the sales person told me, i did it as they told me, but the next day evening the battery went flat...its was some kinda disappointment for me... i charged it up again , the same tin happens... i was wondering if its the batterys fault.. but till now, the battery seems to turn better as i charged fully i can used up to the most 2 and a half days... Then the battery problems had solved , but i was wondering if my phone warming up (lower back of the phone, behind the keypad not the battery) does it have to do with the battery... or does u ve face the same problems as me? is it normal ot faulty? JT: I have the unlocked version. The volume's not that loud (compared to a sony ericson w610i) when I play mp3s at full volume. I tried the secret code that somebody posted here, but I messed up. I re-flashed my phone to normal, but I want to change the music player speaker settings, so it can be loud. can anybody help me? thanks.

the 820 has Samsungs trademark style factor and fairly entertaining features. Even though it is fairly light and the slide form factor appears somewhat fragile, the 820 has passed my durability test of daily usage for 3 months. Only main set back is the lack of an infrared.

But you gotta make sure you set your iTunes to rip music into mp3 files. chica: remove the battery, put in the battery, turn on your cell phone. If problem persists, contact Samsung or wherever you buy your cell phone from. They might have the solution such as upgrading your firmware or replacing your phone. Quick FYI (at least for Asian version D820): To check firmware version: *#1111# mine is ED820.03 To check hardware version: *#2222# mine is REV1.2 I bought this phone almost 2 months ago. I don't know if there are newer firmware out there, but so far mine has no problem whatsoever. Hope this helps.

Picsel viewer will automatically open when you view your pdf, powerpoint, excel and word document from your OTHER FILES in your FILE MANAGER where you will always save your windows documents.

to Tristan, Received messages are initially and automatically saved to your sim card but once your sim card is full of messages, the phone will automatically save the all incoming messages (sms or mms) to your phone memory. Note: In order for the phone to save automatically incoming messages always in the phone memory, be sure to have the sim card in message full status. you can also move your messages from sim to phone or vice versa. FYI

Thanks JT. It will be good if we can use the Picsel viewer to view all the pictures. Viewing the pictures with full screen is great! The zooming rocks too. Acutally D820 is a very good phone. Those that complain about poor video quality, lack of document viewer, lack of TV-output, not being able to set mp3 files as ringtones(refer to the guide further down the forum to solve this problem), check out your phone model. Did you buy your phone from T-mobile? Did you buy a T809?

to japstermizer, On the contrary, the D820 has a document viewer which is called picsel viewer. I already loaded it with pdf, excel, word and powerpoint files and it does all the job. There a lot of option to be found once you view it on your phone. You can also project it on a bigger external display using your TV cables. The window files can be viewed in full screen on your external display. Please correct me if I am wrong.

to JT, I experienced that when you connect your usb cable to PC, the PC automatically open the window explorer and the memory card will be added on the list like other external drives. You can do this by choosing in the phone setting and set the USB setting to MASS STORAGE. This will only be done when you inserted the microSD card in your phone. You can then drop and drag files to your computer or other external drives in your computer. I did this without any external software but the phone will not automatically charged the battery. Only if you choose modem in the USB setting and use the PC Sync 3 software, the phone will automatically charged the battery while managing your files. FYI

ismail: u can use card reader to transfer your files to your pc... or connect your phone to your pc with the usb cable, then go to settings> phone settings> usb settings> mass storage this will allow you to directly access the files on your card... :)

it's been a while since i checked this page.. hehe.. t-mobile really sucks.. they ruin phone softwares so they would earn more... haha! anyway.. that's how business goes... buy d820... been using it for a few months and i haven't had any problems with it... battery lasts for 2-4 days.. to all you haters... if you dont like this phone, then go buy a different one! it's not like the world will end with this phone... haha! and it's an electronic device.. it has limitations too... have a nice day! :)

xiangster: OK, played around with my D820. Now I know what you meant by not all pictures can be shown with piscel viewer since it took me awhile to find out where piscel viewer is, since all my pics opened with picture viewer. My best theory is that it has something to do with the compression of the jpeg (thus the file size) and the resolution of the picture. A HUGE resolution picture with a poor compression (big file size) should open with piscel viewer. My file is 1024 X 761 resolution with 96 dpi, the size is 388Kb. I then took that file, compressed it with ACDSee with the best compression (poor quality, small file size). The picture (26kb) then opened in regular picture viewer. Other than that, I'm not quite sure. So, I need to clarify some things: Yes, this phone can (sometimes) view images in full screen.. The zoom function?? Awesome!!!

Vibe: Video Call is not possible. This is not a 3G phone. jimm: this phone has no screen saver showing the time when the phone is idle. However, you can see the time, signal strength and check whether you have missed calls or sms by pressing (and hold) the volume button on the side of the phone for a couple of seconds. It'll show those info I mentioned above. xiangster: never played around with piscel viewer. But will try today. The video format this phone supports is mp4 (and I believe 3gp, but never actually tried). You might wanna check out Total Video Converter. It's an easy to use video converter with pre-defined resolutions (for phone, psp, streaming, etc. etc.). Jotham: I assume you have the T-Mobile version. Try searching in the previous thread. Someone mentioned something about the sound code for T-Mobile version of this phone. D820: No space to put accessories. I don't recommend it either. I don't even recommend putting this phone (in pocket or bag or purse) without a pouch or something that can protect the phone's body. Amgad: Where are you using this phone??? That's a pretty messed up D820 you got there. I assume you have T809, not D820. Feel sorry for ya buddy. Mine works fine. Leandro: Yes, 1 Gb is supported. Maybe if you read a couple threads below (or many many many many other threads before), you already found out the answer by now. japstermizer: Sorry, no mp3s for message tones. Hi guys, I really love this phone, i enjoyed everything on it because of the following: 1. design (SLIM w/quality big screen, sliding mechanism and rotary 1.3 megapixel cam. my dream phone. 2.features: MP3 songs are loud using the external dual speaker compared to SE and Nokia n70 as well as with stereo earphones. Mp3 can be used as ringtone, caller id ringtone and alarm tones. It can vibrate and ring at the same time, vibrate then ring or ring then vibrate. Video recording/ playback is excellent and believe me, i have recorded many videos from .3gp to mpeg4 extensions and all played in real time and in full screen (very high quality). It also have video caller id and i can use 10 sec to 60 minutes videos( 3gp to mpeg4)as a video caller id. Mpeg4 is much better and displayed almost full screen. Photos are very good w/ night scenes and saved photos can be zoomed in and out by pressing the side keys but not displayed in full screen, photos taken can be displayed in full screen right before and after you have taken your pictures but once you retrieve the saved pictures, it will not do the same. TV out and picsel viewer are features that outclass all other phones. I can listen audio from external source (mini components), view files and videos on bigger external displays. Batteries last for 3 days using 2 hours (using stereo headphone) of music, lots of texting, 1 hour gaming and 30 min. of calls. One slot for headphone jacks, usb connection, TV output and charging, making phone so orderly and clean. When using usb to connect to PC Sync 3, the phone will initiate charging automatically w/o worrying of battery empty when managing your files. Phone can be used as external storage without using any software.Other features are ideal and unique. 3. Others: (image editor, sonic wellness, hot swap transflash card, fast response user interface/operation). 4. Accessories included: (battery, phone, software cd, usb data cable, tv connector, charger and 64 mb micro SD card. All the things mentioned are based on personal experience. FYI.

finally i found out how to TURN OFF KEYPAD TONE: 1. Make sure your Dialling display is set to "normal" (Settings>Display Settings>Dialling Display). For some reason, quill and sticky note dialling display disables the keypad settings. 2. After you set it to normal, go to Settings>Sound Settings>Keypad tone. It should not be grayed out anymore and you should have 5 options to choose from, including OFF.

ok.. now.. for your guys who cannot set mp3 files as ringtone.. Are you people using Samsung T809?? Thats the ruined version of D820. D820 can do lots more. Great video, Vibration and Ringing at the same time and the terrific Picsel Viewer. From what i know, you guys using T809 are deprived of these functions. I feel really sorry for you guys. I can't imagine it if i bought a T809 instead of a D820. Omg. But dont worry. It's not all gone. I found a way to set mp3 files as ringtone for T809. I found this on some other forum on the net: You first have to set your ringtone as a MP3 file then you go through those steps. it should work! 1. Put the mp3 song on your PHONE. (if its on your Memory Card it wont be able to select it as a ringtone later) 2. Go to incoming call settings 3. Select ringtone to see all available (Make sure that your current ringtone is MP3. there should be a couple songs already on your phone that you are able to set as a ringtone, but they suck, of course) 4. Find desired song (it should be greyed out and non-selectable) 5. Then just Highlight it 6. Click middle button (even though it will not allow you to this, the step if a must) 7. Press BACK button 8. Press save. (EVEN THOUGH THE RINGTONE IS STILL THE SAME AS BEFORE BUT SAAAAVE AnyWAYS!) 9. Go back and check your incoming call and it should be whichever song you highlighted.

Eventhough it has a very unique design and an awesome screen I never seen before, But if I ever asked I would really recommend anyone not to BUY it, it is the most stupid device I ever tried in 6 years. First: the battery lasts only a day, this never heppened before with any other device of any brand, even samsung itself. I had a c100 and an e330 before, and the bettery in both used to last 2-3 days at least. Second: the video quality really sucks. Third:You can't set any MP3 files as a ringtone, as I was used to do with Nokia, in addition it doesn't play many types of audio files. For those who want a device with good audio features I strongly recomnmend SonyEricsson (Wakman Series) , and for those who want imaging, and video feaures I strongly recomend them Nokia (NSeries).

Jimm, the pone does NOT have a clock screensaver. It has no screen saver at all. I called Samsung because I wanted the same thing and they said "Nope". Ieven tried fooling with it, impossible.

FYI to ALL interested in buying this phone: Get the D820 version, not the t-mobile version. You can't do anything. T-mobile ruined the phone. You can search online, there are sites that will flash your t-mobile version to d820, but make sure to find sites that will not mess up your IMEI.

I tried transfering some pictures to "other flies" and i am able to view SOME pictures using the Picsel viewer. All the pictures i tried are JPEG format. However, the phone only launches Picsel viewer with some of them. Viewing pictures with Picsel viewer is great.. it allows full screen viewing and great zooming.

Sorry for the wrong reply. Pank: it's kinda frustrating when you try to sync with microsoft outlook. It will only sync: * 1 home phone number * 1 office number * 1 fax number * 1 mobile number * 1 e-mail * notes (can't be very long notes too) This is the bad thing with cell phone with no operating system.

Pank: More or less about 200 messages all together (inbox, draft, outbox, sentbox, my folder combined). I got up to 210 message once. It will alert you that the box is full when a text message arrived and the box is about to be full. Stallema: Might sound stupid, but do not plug in the phone before you install everything. What Windows do you use? D820 is not XP compliance. It will work on XP, but the driver is not digitally signed for XP. Therefore, you have to install everything first, or it will continue trying to find a driver that doesn't exist. Plus, try not to run any other phone managers (Nokia phone manager, Motorola Easy Sync, etc.). Usually, phone managers don't work well with each other. Vibe: When someone calls, the picture will not be shown full screen, but it will be big enough for you to see. It will take more than half the screen, and there will be the caller's phone number below the picture. But then again, why would you use photo caller ID when you have Video Caller ID? :-D. D820 and D600 basically same phone with different variant. First, they differ in thickness. D820 is more marketed towards fashion phone (and female, but I beg to differ) while D600 is productivity. But as far as the function goes, they pretty much on par. Plus, D820 supports the infamous "vibrate AND ring" while D600 doesn't. Xiangster: Oopss.. I guess JT needs some more homework to do with his cell phone. Sorry, never used this function, and not available in option when you're on a phone. However, you can just put the call on hold, make another phone call like usual, and then there will be an option to join a conversation. Tada... U'll have conference call. Hope this helps.

hi! i bought this phone a couple of months back. am quite happy with the functioning, especially the camera. can any of you tell me what software to put onto the phone to make it compatible with softwares designed for phones like nokia? I have the t809, which is the T-Mobile USA branded D820. It is a great phone, very durable and so customizable. It is my understanding that the D820 is much more customizable as T-Mobile USA locks alot of functions out of the t809. A quick tip: you will want to play around with the audio settings by hitting *#8999*8378# as the audio is set very low.

Chris A: There are a lot of non flip phones around the same price with this phone with a great camera, but as for the best, it's hard to tell since it all depends on your preference. You can get phones like Nokia 6280, a 3G phone with 2Mpix camera and VGA video. Or Sony Ericsson K750i/W800i with a 2 Mpix camera. I've never used Pantech, but I know they make a couple camera with phone (not phone with camera).

RICH: Not quite sure what you meant, but the camera can rotate 180 degree and locked at 2 positions. If we take a reference point as when you're looking at the screen of the phone, the camera is either facing you, or facing parallel to your point of view (pointing at whatever it is that you point in front of you). When the phone is closed, you can't take a picture of something in front of you since the camera is blocked by the lower part of the phone. When the phone is closed, you can only take picture of yourself. And yeah, it doesn't have Voice Dial (at least the Asian version doesn't). Hope this helps.

it`s a great phone, the camera photo it`s something slow, but film exelent, it`s very easy to use, and the soft package is exelente too. the sound is amazing and easy to send files to the phone. mass storage work very good....

F.Y.I., for those of you who are looking to buy this phone or any cell phones for that matter in Jakarta (and surrounding areas), there's a Cell Phone Convention going on right now @ Jakarta Convention Center Hall A (Hall B for computers) until Sunday (July 9th). Don't expect anything great though. Good Samsung phones (slim line like D900, E900, etc.) are not available yet, only demo. Plus, there are not that many brands that will give you promotion price (I know for a fact that Samsung doesn't give you great discount while LG gives you a good promotion price for Chocolate).

Antonio: For Asian (Indonesian) version -> Voice memo: menu - applications - voice recorder (shortcut: menu-3-2). Sorry, no voice dials. Shabbir Ahmed: Yes, there is a speaker phone. You gotta make a call first, then the "i" button in the middle of the navigation pads will be an option to activate the speaker phone, and you STILL have to press yes to confirm that you wanna use the speaker phone. Speaker phone quality isn't that great. Chris: Samsung is kind of hard to hack. I doubt the firmwares are changeable since it's not a famous phone to hack (unlike Motorola ROKR E1 and the newer version or like Sony Ericsson K750i to W800i). Also, the pain in the butt thing was mostly T-Mobile's lock so they can make money. Usually, functions like music player are blocked (or similar multimedia functions). For example, you can only listen to music that you buy from T-Mobile, only ringtones that you downloaded, etc. etc.. those kind of things. My suggestion is buy an Unlocked version of the phone somewhere to have a fully functional phone. I don't know where you are, but I know that in US, if you have a Verizon phone, and you complained to Verizon that the phone should have a music player, they'll unlock the function for you (if you don't know, then you can only listen musics you buy from V-Cast). It's stupid, but big companies will do anything to make money. The only backdraw to this is that you have to manually configure the gprs and mms. Also, you might lose some functions like voice dials, etc. etc. (if they have that function in the T-Mobile version). Also, hacking your phone is not recommended since the hardwares inside the phones are somewhat different. Jess: No, it doesn't have a flash. Hope this helps guys.

I'm considering buying a samsung t809(a t-mobile unlocked d820). Its the same exact phoen as the 820. Only the software is different. I heard something about the t809 software being a pain in the butt, and the d820 software being easy to use. for tc: It's a quad band phone. Bought it last month for 3.32jt. Should be cheaper now. It has auto config for the gprs for all the providers in Indonesia. It also has Indonesian T9. Hope this helps

Joseph, you have to make sure the memory card is a Micro SD and NOT a macro or any other one. Also make sure to insert the memory card with the copper connections up.

You can set the videos as a video caller ID regardless of the size of the video taken specially mpeg4 formats and mpeg4 formats are displayed almost full screen when somebody calls.

I got this phone and am (for the most part) pleased. Makes the RAZR look like childs play. The only other phone that I would consider getting besides this is the Sony Ericsson Collection but there all BULKY phones. Just two features irritated me, 1. The fact that you have to change the mp3 file to 3gp to use them as ringtones and 2. the fact that your pix don't display full screen in wallpaper mode (only the ones you purchase from t-mobile are). But the phone still gets an A. I just got my 1 gb card in and it works great. 250ish songs! Forget an iPod! P.s. If anyone is having trouble changing the songs from mp3 to 3gp feel free to email me, I'll walk you through it.

jimi, for your questions: 1. Yes, it can vibrate and ring at the same time, vibrate first then rings and rings first then vibrate. 2. No, you are only to choose from the 10 default ones but message alerts has an independent function from the ringing alerts. The options there are melody, vibrate and vibrate first then melody.You can do these functions in your message alert without affecting the ringing alert, meaning you can set the message alert to vibrate first then melody while your ringing alert is set only to melody. Isn't it cool?

i think soney ericsson w800 or w810 is way richer in features and many little extra things that make life easier... alot easier. design is exceptionally brilliant too. i own both these phones and i always use my SE... trust me its alot better than you think.. and alot better than the samsung, surprisingly. you will make the right desicion, dont worry. i hope my expert advice and experience helps. its a pleasure

I think it'll be more helpful if all the people who post here say where they are, since there are couple of versions of D820. Mine is Indonesian version. I have no problem with the mp3 ringtone. There are many ways to use mp3 as a ringtone. The easiest one will be copying the mp3s from your memory card to phone, and you'll automatically find the songs listed under music section when you wanna change the ringtone (don't have to change the extention to *.3gp). Also, there are debates about how big the micro sd can be. Mine is Sandisk Micro SD 1Gb. So far, I have no problem with it (no lagging, hangging, etc.) As for additional softwares, Samsung is kinda a hard one since they don't really let you install more stuffs than what they already have. So far, the only way I can put games (I have no luck with putting softwares) inside my D820 is through wap. There are websites out there that lets you put java files on their servers and you can access them from your D820. Even so, there are only certain games that will work on D820 even though those games are Java based. Games that work on D500 or D600 are NOT guarantee will work on D820 since they use different platform while developing this phone. F.Y.I. about the little things for people who left Samsung long ago because of annoying little things and want to go back to Samsung: 1. You can change the default of SMS (no more T9 default). 2. If you get a phone call while texting, the text won't disappear. If you're looking for a good looking phone that works fine, D820 might me right for you. If you're the kind of person who wants more than a phone (office, multi tasking, editing videos, or even cooking), stay away from D820 because if you don't, you'll say things like how this phone sucks coz it can't cook for you. Oh, if you don't already know, this phone supports video caller ID (only the video, NOT the voice from the video). Hope this helps.

Arun Pillai, My d820 comes with a 64 mb sd card. The card also comes with a case adaptor. In order for you to insert it to the slot, you must take out the very small memory card from the adaptor and insert it to the slot.

First off, please read the manual before you rip on the functions of the phone. Most of the options everyone is complaining about is actually available on the phone. For example, ringtone + vibrate is possible on this phone. Please take some time to learn the functions before you cry about it. If you can't figure it out then I don't think you're smart enough to own a cell phone.

i got this phone few days back. well i am speechless. the phone is awesome. i wanted to buy sony ericsson w 800i but then come to think of it, what is the difference of paying 5000 bucks extra for half a megapixel. plus, in front of samsung d820, sony ericsson w800i looks like a brick. it is much bulkier and heavier. hell i dont want no brick in my pocket. all i can say is that i couldnt be happier with samsung. the picture quality is great, sound quality is good(using the headphones), the phone is light, stylish, .............. need i say more???

if you're used to a smart phone then do not get this phone for it's features. the design is great but it lacks in function. i used to have nokie 6670 and it got jacked so i bought this one to try a samsung for the first time. (+) sleek design, great screen, good mp3 player (-) dumb functions: side volume button on idle changes key volume and not ringer volume (why? who knows...), calendar view doesn't let you preview the events (you need to click on the day and then go through the menu to get back to month view), caller ID pix don't show in outgoing calls, no voice recognition functions i don't recommend this phone if you're looking for functions but i guess it's my fault i knew it wasn't a smart phone and hoped it could live up to one...

to Thomas Goodwin, In the dialing display has Quill pen and sticky note mode in which you could not access the keypad tones, meaning these modes have a default keypad tones. In order for you to access the keypad tone, you must only select the normal mode of font type. In the normal mode you can set the font size, font color and background color and most specially the keypad tones.

ok.. u guys have been giving simple guides to turn off the keypad tones... But that wont work. I can't even select "keypad tone" in the sound settings. "Keypad tone" is light grey in color(means cannot be selected). Any expert know how to solve this problem?

Hi,ROCKY BALBOA, Why do you have that problem? Most probably your phone is not Samsung D820. I am sure because D820 records up to 60 min of quality mp4 video and almost 1 minute of .3gp videos for the MMS messaging.

i've been trying to get my usb and phone to connect to transfer images and mp3s but it wont connect! i've installed PC studo the right way from the cd and i even downloaded the program from the samsung website, ive followed all the directions but there is no connection. i also switched the usb settings from mass storage to modem and it still doesnt connect. one strange thing however: did any of you guys get a pop up saying the cd software was not windows XP logo approved or something like that? the continuing buttons said "install anyway" or "stop installation." i installed anyway. another strange thing is when i changed the usb settings to modem, i had to install something else and after that installation there was another popup saying the installation didnt work. that never happened for the mass storage thing. has anyone else had these problems and can someone help me please?!!??!? when your taking pictures in portrait mode.. press the volume key up which is located in the left side of the phone to fix the upright screen problem... the volume key down is used for mirror mode.... :) gonna send those games later... :)

Anybody use its TV-Out cable and its quality how? So MP3 can;t be set as ringtone, but this is not a big issue. I will like to know if its picture quality instead. Alan, I sync'd my former phone 2 ways. First I downloaded all my phone contacts to the SIM (though the SIM manager program on my old phone) then simply transferred the SIM to my new phone. That was ok, but it gives all numers a name (i.e. you might have 3 numbers for someone, home, work, cell etc. Each number would be a seperate contact). Then I simply loaded the software and transferred eveything from outlook (not outlook express) and everything worked out fine. Hope that helped. Iain

Had the phone one week and am loving it so far. I use it for work, so was more concerned with synchronization problems than any camera features. I have to say that I'm very impressed. Sync'ing it is a breeze, calendar and contacts all came through ok. I am having a problem with setting mp3 files as ringtones though (and yes I have ploughed through most of the other postings). I have a factory unlocked D820 (not a T-809) and so the whole .3gp thing doesn't make any difference. I have rtfm so I know that I can set mp3's as ringtones through the settings folder or the music folder - but neither work. The mp3's are very short, just a few seconds, its mono, 22050hz and 32kbps quality. The file size is therefore pretty small. Every time I try to assign it to the ring tone I get the error message 'not supported content'. Any thoughts? Also, I'm trying to find some java games (pacman, asteroids that kind of thing). hey me from singapore. got this phone for a month. please and happy with it. those who give bad comments, really how long have you own this phone? or did u give negative comments base on comments u see on the internet? battery life - fantastic! last me 4-5 days with moderate use. those who last 1-2 days i dunno what u do with it. no phone currently in this world can last longer than 1-2days with the way you use it. slide mechanism - great. smooth. got a spring to pull it up or down to help u in sliding. call qualities - great. sounds just like the original. reception - fantastic. as good as my previous phone nokia 3100. the anttenna is at bottom of phone behind the speaker i think. so for best call qualities dont cover the shiny bottom plastic part. camera - better than all camera in mobile phone between 1-2mp with the exception of se auto focus. this samsung camera is quality. 1.3mp but beats every other phone camera not more than 2mp except sony auto focus system. mp3 - sounds exactly like on my mp3 player and on my computer. os - well. nokia 3100 my ex phone made 2 years ago is smarter than 2006 samsung phone os. samsung phone is sexy. but unfortunately stupid. will cause people to vomit blood as my mama say. my mama use to own a se t610 and she say the os make her vomit blood. so she switch to a nokia 6610i. young generation shouldnt have a problem. just that older people may be piss. suggestion: how about a phone with motorola design, sony music and camera, samsung manufacturing built quality, and nokia os? this will definately be the best mobile phone. but probably the most copycat non original haha.

Just got my phone and it is indeed a superb phone. I have used many Samsung phones previously and I do admit that it has one of the best screens but the functions sucks. BUT not the D820 .... one of the best phones I have used and the bluetooth functions better than SE, Motorola and Nokia. Very fast. The screen is large and crisp clear. A good phone investment. I carry 2 phones now - Motorola black V3 and D820. Both nearly the same and beautifully black. Samsung has done it!

first of all, both d600 and d820 are samsung phones.. both have the same features (i guess) the only difference is the thickness... i don't have anything against d600... i even thought of buying it.. but when i got both phones in my hands, i decided to go with d820... i don't think there's something wrong with the sliding function of this phone... my functions well! :)

Well , if its just bout the slide issue i will tell you one thing , this fone has no problem with the slide its only ppl how used 2 work wiz da D600 would feel so and i will tell you why , the D820 slimmer and has a quite curve build in the bottom of it so the designer's did it this way to avoide some prob in the future with the machinsm of the slide [by the use] and the best way that u can work it by the middle of it [press'n on the bottom of the screen] but ppl get used 2 open slide fone's by press'n from the of the fone , so that's why the feel akward when they do the same with this fone .. and thats all , but im tellin you there is no prob with it when use it by the right way .. otherwise Samsung is very familiar with the slide fone's and they are expert , so no worries :) !

nice phone.. been using it now for a week and i havent had any problems with it... u can turn off keypad tones on the sound setteings menu... theres a separate menu for the keypad tones which includes an off option... the sliding fucntion isnt that bad.... it takes practice to get used to it... i slide mine by pushing the lower left side of the fone below the call button... it's easier for me that way.. camera is nice... good enough to take pictures... if u want the best quality, buy a dedicated digicam... you can take pictures even if the slide is closed... if you twist the camera and you have an upside down screen, just press the volume key on the left side of the phone and it will fix it... i like the image editor... it easy to use... i really like the mosaic shots of the camera.. good feature... and good effects.... video is great.. i can say its better than nokia (no offense though)... again, if u want a great video.. buy a dedicated videocam.... mp3 player is good but not the best among mobile phones... of course se walkman phones are better.. but this phone will do... radio function??? im ok with the fact that it doesn't have a radio.. i dont really use that function from my previous phones.. sms and mms: so easy to use... but it will take u a day to get used to it if you're new in using samsung phones... sms alerts??? i can only use the preset ones... im a bit annoyed coz sometimes i cant hear it when im in a crowd... but it will do... seven of the ten selection tones sucks.. hehe.. games... hmmm.... not that bad... but also not good.. intalling java games is a bit complicated.. but there's a site that teaches u how to... the instructions a bit hard to understand.. but if you need any help, just post a message here... and by the way... DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD OTHER GAMES??????? the site i found contains a lot of downloadable games for samsung d600 but most of them needed a password of some sort so you can download them... when i installed a game on my phone (which by the way is a game for samsung d600 and d500) well i was able to play it... but it only used like half of the screen.. but all the functions good... i also intalled a some games that are compatible with nokia phones... i was able to play the games but it only used 1/4 of the screen... it's a bit hard to find games for this phone... but with a little luck and good web surfing techniques (hahaha), you'll eventually find some.... picsel viewer is a nice function... the phone memory is great.. they said you can use 1 gig micro sd... i dont know.. havent tried using one.... i use 512 mb.. and its great.... cons bout this phone: -the battery is so average... well it's not that bad.. but if you're using the mp3 player with the speaker phones or even with earphones... it will suck your battery like hell...

I'm very satisfied with this phone. Very slim, very good camera very good movie quality, very logical menu, very fine sound, security lock on all you can imagine if you are interested in this, better numeric pad than d800 very good screen quality, an advanced unit convertor.Very easy to use phone. Battery life between 2 and 3 days normal use and 3-4 hours listening Mp3.Charge time from zero can take 2 hours. Mp3 cannot run in background like d800 and this is very strange because d820 has an transFlash card and d800 has no card option. Anyway, sound quality is much better on d820 than d800 both on speakers and headphones. Buy it.

Well , this is a common problem between many users of this fone , look the only way to TURN OFF the keypad tones by use'n the normal Dialing fone number - u have 3 to choose , so choose the normal dailing font first and the you will b able 2 activate the turnin off options of the keypad .. ciao .

Hey dk .. well the nokia 6270 and the D820 both have better screen QVGA than the X700 , Both of them are sliders so most of ppl like them for that and they can be under fashion category and style , so if u r satisfied with the screen of the x700 and need just a value budget cell fone go for it , otherwise i would recommend the D820 than the nokia 6270 fisrt the nokia have 2mp cam but its not that good n makes no diff from a good 1.3 cam , the D820 is the slimmest slide cell fone so far and got better amount of internal memory 73 MB plus the Micro SD card ,nokia have just arround 10 indside plus the external memory , Both of them got stereo sound but the nokia win here for higher volume actully , nokia 6270 got the new firmware of the S40 which is very improved and user friendly [ if u r familiar with nokia fones ] , samsung got plus point here for the TV-OUT and Picsel viewer Options .. so im tellin you this the sam X700 is a Gr8 value fone if u r lookin jus for that , Otherwise if u r lookin for a Good lookin fone with Gr8 options u can go for the D820 , but if u dont care that much for looks and juz need Good fone with user friendly n better voice u can go for the Nokia 6270 [not a Gr8 fone Build zo] .. which is better 1. nokia 6270 2. samsung d820 3. samsung x700 all three have good display, double stereo speakers, almost equal camera, non symbian, not 3g, good built quality, average kepads, BUT DIFFERENT PRICE . SAMSUNG X700 IS THE CHEAPEST, SO WHY NOT GO FOR IT? ANY REASON

Ihave a friend who use bluetooth Nokia phone model N70, He downloads a software from Nokia into the phone memory card, and was able to use a bluetooth GPS (positioning receiver) ordered ($90) from EBAY to make his phone works as a navigator (just like any navigator you see in the car). It can tell us when to turn let/right, too. Isn't it great to have our cell working like that?Does any one know if Samsung has similar software to download into the microSD and make it work like what explained above? Any one want toknow what i am talking about, please go to EBAY and search for bluetooth GPS.

Before purchasing this phone, I did a little research on it, i.e., going to the Samsung website to find out the specs on this phone as well as reading comments/reviews by users on other websites(mobile-review.com). Some things you just won't find out until you actually have the phone in your hands. My initial impressions are this phone is of high quality, attractive and sleek phone. I'm familiar with other brands like Nokia, Motorola, SE as well as Siemens, having owned numerous phones from these manufacturers in the past. The D820 compares favorably with the Motorola V3 Razr in regards to its thinness and wow factor. The OS of the Samsung has improved since the last time I've owned one which was a couple of years ago. The width of the phone is not an issue for me. I'm used to it since I also have a Razr. The resolution of the screen is also nice and the colors are vibrant. I've transferred 6 jpeg images to the phone using bluetooth from my laptop without any problems.. and I'm using them as my wallpapers. I haven't tried transfering mp3's yet but I have no doubt it will be as easy as the jpegs. I've also transferred 2 .txt documents to the D820 and have used the document viewer of the phone to view and read these documents. Only issue I have is that you'll need to magnify the documents more than 5x to get it to the size where you can actually read the words. Hopefully, Samsung will add staggered magnification to the reader if they decide to upgrade the OS of the phone in the future. The manual that came with the phone was pretty clear and thorough, but not as indepth as I would like. It took me till today to finally figure out how to use the speakerphone function. I must be getting old for me not to figure that out right away. I'm not too concerned with the games on this phone so that aspect doesn't interest me. I would like to download some Java-based applications which would be more useful to me. From what I've read, installing Java games/applications hasn't been too easy for this Samsung model. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Yes I gave up the FM radio on my Nokia 3230 and 6230. But I never used that function anyway, in those phones. I really like the thinness of the phone which is why I still use my Razr till this day. The bluetooth function works great, both for transferring files and in conjunction with a bluetooth headset. My only issue now is finding an attractive case to store this phone in so it doesn't get scratched. Bottom line - I recommend this phone.

Slider is a bit tough to operate ... unlike D500/D600 .. otherwise the phone is awesome .. and where are the themes ??? the new animated menu looks cool .. but is a bit slow ...

just bought the phone... it's nice... good enough for my needs... the bad thing bout this phone is when i'm pressing keys 1-3... my fingers are kinda big that's why im having a hard time pressing those buttons... and the phone is a bit slippery so you have to be careful not to drop it... ehehehe features are good... i guess there are other mobile phones better... one thing i wanna know... is there any way i can use other alerts for sms???? i cant hear the damn alerts even if it's in full volume!!!! ehehehe!
