There is one problem that i'm facing with this O2 sets.i.e. when i slot the memory card in the unit it becomes very hot and battery power also quickly run down. Next thing is that when slotted memory card into it but it doesn't responds/appears in storage card when i search for it. Earlier it was working quite. Plz. tell if u have any solution on this.

Lollz first when i got this phone i thought this might be the worst nightmare of my entire life to add one gadget in my collection but i was wrong problems i faced when i get this second hand * Poor Signal Strength( Radio bug) * Low Ram( ROM issues) * some how out of my 3 mobile networks, i was unable to get calls on almost all of them( again, 2g and 3g modes issues) * wifi was horrible and battery drained just cuz of using internet so frequently changes made and results *the first and important thing was to change its old radio to new one( so i tried to flash my xda Polaris 200) but was unable to flash after so many attempts, * due to lack of proper hard spl, i tried jump spl ad then i upgraded to 6.5 rom from XDA Developers * Radio Upgraded to Radio_Murata_PPAS_1.58.21.23( and works excellent) * Rom again downgraded to pcarvalho_eXtreme__28014_Beta_non3D__ROM_3.19_Re­lease(not 6.5) and now adding few more basic tools like m2d and etc etc phone is at its extreme performance * total rom size nw moved to 215 including programs listed in this rom(above) i m not a developer just an ordinary user like the other readers of Windows platform and thanks to XDA DEVELOPERS which has enabled me to atleast understand and fix out the basic trouble shooting and + point is learning as well as time saving plus money saving so start reading, explore the world by gaining knowledge of experts and do the need full * note: do not make any changes to your phone which could be harmful unless you have proper guide line and in result, your phone shall stay away from getting bricked... enjoy pda fun Falak tnt4ever(xdadevelopers.com)

Google maps runs good on this phone... I got this set around 2 weeks back and i m impressed by it. Its great looking, light weight as compared to other PDAs. Speed is good, interface is nice. It has multiple input options like screen keypdad, letter n block recognition. Touchflo interface is good. Camera is good (but lacks flash) Wifi works very nice. I have installed youtube, flash, twitter, google maps applications. Also i m using push mail through outlook. I m using only 1GB card but its extensible to around 8-16GB Active sync works good. There is option for Word, pdf, excel viewing. Task manager, calendar is also good. I got the used device ... battery time is still not bad and lasts 1 day with good usage. Overall nice smartphone with good features.

I upgraded to Windows MObile 6.1 Professional and now I cannot use the Tomtom or the Copilot on the device. I just get the message on both of the software,NO GPS unit detected,even after the Bluetooth is activated. Before the the upgrade, it was working fine on any of the two software for GPS. Saif, They are all HTC phones. O2 is just branding. o2 operates here in the UK, and buys the phones from HTC and re-brand them with O2 logos. Hope that helps. Allah hafiz.

I had xda 2, xda orbit and now this and i find this one faster and better then the other two.The only thing that i didnot like was that the screen was not as sensitive as the xda orbit.Overall i think it is a great phone.

Never buy this model. All other features are very good. But worst coverage & getting warm even in 2-4 minutes talking. You cant talk 15 minutes.I am using this device for CCTV camera watching only. But other functins are very very good. But coverage is the heart of the Mobile. So i dont recommend.

Just inst Win 6.1 and all the minor problems will be solved.Also it is faster than the 6.0 version. Very nice phone with all the facilities. Two major problems.(1)worst Coverage (2)getting warm while talking (even 3 minites call). If you receive 40-50 percentage of coverage in other phones, you will not get any coverage in your orbit. you might want to try looking on the HTC website for it, its known as the HTC Polaris. They're your best bet to find any replacement parts. If not, taking it to a phone shop might be your best move.

it should send files over bluetooth, you need to go to the 'beam file' option for the file you wish to send, and it will put up infrared first, and then list the bluetooth devices in range. you then click on the device you wish to send it to and away you go

I'm carrying this XDA Orbit II since last 4 mths with 1GB Micro SD Card. In my view, it's gr8 cell phone i'd ever carried. Now I want to insert the Micro SD Card of 4GB, can this cell phone perform well if i insert the 4GB Micro SD Card on it? Some guys says that this cell phone doesn't perform well and became slow if we insert 4GB card on it. Yes i update to wm6.1 you have all instuction in xda developers for free fist mast install hard spl then udate to wm6.1 profession i use rom udk daimond R8 with touch flo . Very good and fast.

i have the orbit 2 for 4 months and the signal is pure rubbish....in areas with high sigal strenth it works fine once it the signal is not that high anymore it drops the sevice comlpetely...i wont advice any1 to buy this phone!!!!!

I'm using a O2 XDA Orbit 2 and it was working well for three months without any troubles. But yesterday when I was on a call, i turned off the phone using Power Off button and after two/ three hours i turned it on and it got stucked with Green color Windows mobile screen with IN CALL volume control Icon. Now how many times i restatr its not getting On. Could you please let me know how to fix this? If i have to reinstall the software where can i get it and how to do it? [email protected]

You can install a software Arabic keyboard in Windows Mobile like PocketKeys. Just do a Google search for: "windows mobile" "arabic keyboard" or "pocket pc" "arabic keyboard". Also, if you click on 'Images' on the Google page (using the same search), lots of pictures will come up to give you an idea. I hope that helps my friend.

The phone is actually made by...HTC! O2 simply have a custom shell. Ever noticed that a lot of other providers do the same?..hmm..thought not. Talking of price plan...beat 3000mins/3000txt/any one of these free bolt ons .... for �30. oh, my mins and text are cross network and any time. oh, and a free handset. That happened to me before with my Pocket PC. I suggest getting it checked at the place where you bought it/your provider/etc. These things are actually pretty delicate. Mine ended up with a cracked LCD.

All O2 phones are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over rated!!!! They should have stuck to providing airtime (which they struggle to do) and let the phone making to the big boys (anybody but O2) they are pointless and are ruining the environment. the only thing achieved by making these phones are co2 pollution and a big mess when every throws them away. VODAFONE rules anyway if they phones they'd probable be the best in the world.

I have had this phone for around 3 months now and its FANTASTIC! other then a few picky things im not to keen on but you get that with anything new! I had the same problem with the assigning msg tones. all you need to do is make sure you drag the tone you want into the "my ringtones" folder inside my docs! and that should work! good luck!

I have been using the original xda orbit for about a year now and have just upgraded to this. I think th touch flo feature is fantastic as many a time I got frustratd with its predessesor when trying to operate the phone with my fingers instead of the stylus. Ive love wm6 however I do believe I will swap this for iPhone 3G when its out due to general usability, however all in all this is a fantastic PDA.

hey people i have had this phone now for about four months and think it is one of the best phones i have had i do have a few gripes with it though. Firstly i cannot put a msg tone on there that i have downloaded i can only use the pre loaded ones and secondly i cannot use the wi-fi on it as it always says that my wep key is incorrect even though it is the one that is printed on my router. If anyone knows how i can sort these problems out then that would be great. Other than that this is a great phone. Peace out!!

@ M50R Go to 'SETTINGS, SYSTEM, POWER, ADVANCED. There should be an option at the bottom to allow charging from the PC or not. Hope that helps...

WTF are u talking about! NOkia phones use a 333mhz processor and this phone has a pretty fast 400 mhz processor. And what is this whole 2-8GK thing?? Are u talking about GB, as in internal memory? Use a freaking micro SD card add 8gb in no time. And only about 3 Nokia phone has more then 1 GB internal memory. If your thinking about the N96 , thats not out yet, so it doesnt count. I can easily say O2 is coming out with a phone that has 25,000 GB internal memory but til its out in shops, that means nothing. Also the camera on this phone isnt as bad as many other HTC/o2 phones, but then again this phone is really a camera phone like the n95/n82. I love nokia but their phones are very slow in multi tasking and processing. This phone rocks. I now currently use a Nokia N95, Nokia E90, O2 orbit2, and Lg Vu(sucks)

I really like my phone and have had it now for three months. When connected to my PC it used to charge and sync but it has stopped charging. It charges fine in the car and from the mains. Is this likely to be the lead or have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere? Can anyone help?

ryt, from my experience with windows mobile, is that i have grown attatched to it....i cannot see myself using an iPhone because u have to go thru iTunes...and i prefer using Microsoft ActiveSync... iPhone is a gr8 phone no doubt, but it does not support word, excel, or adobe...it is firmware so it will be updated and its jus a matter of time, but till then i would stick with the windows mobile. Hope this helped you decide.

Hi guys and girls. This is a great phone but I experienced the first major problem. I bought an 8gig MSD Card and transfere all the info I have onto it. During tthe time of using, I saved all my Word,Excel Docs and some important photos on it. Then last week something went wrong,the card went corrupt and all my info is lost!! It shows under the Memory status there are about 2,5gig used of the 8gig biut I cannot see any info accept for the Inbox file and thaat CANNOT be 2,5gig size. Even when I connect the MSD Card to the laptop via a reader,it shows there are 2,5gig in use. Does any one of you know how can I retrieve that info. hi jack, don,t know if you have already got your answer to putting vidios from your nokia to your o2 orbit but the nokia runs of real player and the orbit runs of windows they are to different types of players but you can download the mobile real player to your phone, thats one of the beauties of this phone you can add soft wear.

i have recently bought orbit2, So far so good, nice phone, sleek and design all in perfect condition But only one problem i am facing,if i try to send any picture or video file from my nokia e61 or from anyother phone to orbit via bluetooth , it doesn't trasnfer the file ,even though i have tried with bluetooth dongle through Pc but still doesnt help. I have had O2 XDA Orbit 2 for just over a month for reasonable tariff through Loyalty offer. Main problem is the handset getting heated up within few minutes of talking. Not a very pleasant feeling, considering I will be making long duration international calls. Otherwise it is a good handset. I am totally confused, not knowing what to do. Is this a known problem with this handset or am I unlucky??? Please post your views... really don't want to part with this phone!!!

Hey ppl i kno this may seem like a stupid question for you guys but i am new to the pda fones lol. I got this fone bout 2 months ago now and am loving it, i have just baught a 4gb memory card for it from o2 and it doesnt slow down at all. The only problem i have with this fone is that when i switch the wi-fi on (i.e in my hime were i have a router) thentry using the internet i still for some reason end up connecting to the internet via hsdpa. Any help on this would be much apriciated. Also only some of my mp3 ringtones tht i put onto the fone appear in the menu for me to select is this to do with the file format or wot? This is a great fone and am realy glad that i have decided to go for a pda but i only have a few problems with it i.e it keeps changing the active profile that im in while the screen is switched off and the battery life aint as good as some other phones but i can live with that as it is a power hungry pda so what do you expect. nAll help on the matters i have discussed would be greatly recieved.

Absolutely excellent phone. Every feature you could wish for, for both business and pleasure. Two minor down sides are battery life compared to standard phone and lack of MPG player. Overall, 9/10 and a definite must-buy.

Warning Warning Warning Warning Not the quality I expect from Krusell Superb service from Mobilefun - smooth returns service and very good communication throughout the order process. Unfortunately, this case is not a good fit for my XDA Orbit 2 so the cutouts don't line up and one cutout is a complete mystery. The last Krusell case I bought was for my XDA Orbit and it was much better quality, including a much better fit and robust magnetic catch - this one has plastic fasteners and the placement makes it awkward to open. There's no way this case would live up to its lifetime guarantee

I just would like to find out the easiness when comes to typing a msg by using the touchscreen system on this O2 orbit II. I did try with LG PRADA, trust me guys, it takes ages to type just a simply one msg. It was horrible. Hopefully, it's definitely different from LG PRADA. Just got this fone yesterday from O2 [uk] and although I like it the signal strength is not more than one bar and the wifi refuses to connect with my router. Can't say the same for N95 8Gb though. Even though I had four faulty handsets the signal strength and the wifi were spot on. Dilemma is - what fone to try next:-))

Two Words to describe this device Amazing and Awesome and its 100 times better than an i-phone iphone - no bluetooth, no mms, no 3G orbit 2 - 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, CoPilot, MMS, Email, TouchFlo, Windows Mobile 6...... I have been an engineer on XDA products for 4 years and i have to say that this is great! i have taken this apart and the parts inside are top quality. An all round nice pda highly recommended good upgrade from the original orbit just becareful of the screen ie dont drop it. 10/10 in my technical opinion

Hi, I have upgraded an existing contract with o2 for 25pounds a month which is an 18 months contract and phone was given free of cost. As suggested by some in previous threads, i threatened to cancel my contract saying that orange is going to give HTC Touch dual ,free for 25 pounds a month. the rep offered me this tariff which i found to be very cheap and i took the offer the very next moment he offered it to me. Propably some of you can get this handset for a similar cheaper tariff if you try this way.

Hi All, I got a letter from O2 requesting the additional CoPilot s/w they sent me with the phone back. So I rang them. Just got of the phone to O2 (customer retentions) and got a new deal off them. Original deal taken out 05/02/08. 24 month @ �40 with a �5 customer loyalty discount, phone free. New package. 18 month @ �35 with a �5 customer loyalty discount, phone �49.99. Also one free month rental for all the hassle. I used the argument (which is true) that when I ordered on 05/02/08 I was quoted 2 prices. I was specifically asked if I wanted the Orbit 2 with or without CoPilot s/w. All the prices with CoPilot were �50 more than without. The O2 rep (Adrian) agreed with me that this was wrong, a throwback to the original Orbit which was available with CoPilot at �50 extra. He agreed to move me to the 18 month tariff with me paying �49.99 for the phone. I then asked if we could do anything about the phone charge and he agreed to a free month�s rental. So the phone has cost me �15. I am sorry if this comes across as sexist but I was getting nowhere with this speaking to women, they didn�t understand my position. To NATALIE. Yes you can watch YOUTUBE and even AOL or YAHOO Videos onb this device!!!! All you have to do is to install VTAP on the device and you will be able to view them videos. I do this and claristy is clear enough to view. It sometimes get stuck when have too many programs running in the back ground, so I suggest close all tother running programs before using VTAP. Email me for more other apps you would like to use,I might email them if they arte not too big for emailing. Have fun!!

Natalie, here is some EXCELLENT apps. Yes AND no!!! No,you can't do it straight from the Youtube website but ONLY through this VTAP application. Yes,you can play YouTube videos on it.Just download the VTAP application on it andyou can search for many videos. Another nice application to have is TCMP that support all types of media files. I gotit right to ply even iPod files on it with this application. Always install the apps onto the memory card to save space on the main memory.This will also increase the speed of the Orbit 2. i'm using an Orbit 2 in the US and all features and functions are working very well... i flashed my device with a custom WM 6.1 ROM mainly for the threaded chat and the additional Storage ROM (from 89MB to 144MB)... call clarity and loudness is very good, no bluetooth issues, 3G works well and overall i'm pretty happy. too bad there are no US carriers offering this phone...

just let you know ive had to send mine back as sat nav software was going wrong 02 agreed to exchange new phone and software but dont worry new phones will get these problem .....as my xda orbit did to......

if you are a 02 customer try say yr seen a better deal else where and can they do anything...you got to remember they dont want to loose your service so haggle with them and yr get deal you want....shop around

Dear Fellows, This is such a great phone but be careful if you make long calls this phone is worthless. it gets too hot if I talk for more than 30 minutes. and it does'nt stop there if I keep on talking it starts burning my ears. So watch before you buy....

Following the last comment , Ive had mine for a week and its a great little phone , but battery life will be a problem I fear . When you open the back its easy to see why , the battery is tiny ,an hour on the tube with music on takes the battery from 100% down to 60 % . Co pilot is good but I want to put Tom Tom on it as the last post did.The touch flow is very good but the speed is noticeably slower than my old XDA11i ( embarrassing !!! )All in all Im very happy though well done HTC.

Had my orbit II 6 days know, loaded tomtom 6 on it (very good, had tomtom 5 on my 1st orbit much better than copilot)New features such as the "quick list" and "touchflo" are great improvements on the old orbit.The fact that the micro sd card is acessed externaly shows HTC are listning.However some issues remain a problem, although the camera has been upgraded 3.2mega pixels (other pda/phones have 5mp) it does not perform well in anything except very good light levels.Also the high SAR value will put some people off, in this day & age seems unnecessary.

This handset is a massive dissapointment! Total touchscreen that is about as touchsensitive as my husband! The sat nav is slow and takes forever to determine it's current location (I thought I'd try it out on a short run of about a mile or so - by the time it had decided where I was and set off I'd arrived at the destination. Also my mother in law (posh bird!!!) lives in a village with no street names just house names - this crashed the system. Isn't it these odd places where a sat nav would be most useful? As a mac user it was pointless to try and sync this with the computer. But it did find four or five neighbours BT home hubs - pity I don't now their passwords?!! Battery life is pants - it ran to 1/2 battery in just 1 day and no calls were made in that time. Weight wise, yes it's heavyish but what do you expect for a pocket PC. The games are cool but nothing you can't get beat with a DS. Pity cause it came with so much promise. 3/10

the pda is cool, i have it already couple of weeks. But i should say, that the camera, altough good, drops to a 2 frames when the day is little bit rainy.( not enough light ) That makes it almost useles. Also the autofocus needs the sun, if not, it takes a min to focus. Its bit slow, with scroll in the programs, surfing the net. You could actualy see, how the interface gets drawn of the screen. But, if better drivers come along, its hammer.

only disadvantage is its not so good as a touch screen if it was between this and htc cruise i would go for the cruise.shame itdoes not have tomtom nav on it.apart from thst contract o2 1000 free mins across any mobile network 1500 free messages and 10 free o2 mobile to mobile for 40.00pounds direct from o2

Dear O2 Rep. I seriously think, it is unfair to rate Orbit 2 higher then HTC Touch Cruise. Could you please enlighten me with some "advantages" Orbit 2 over touch Cruise. I think this is simply brand bias. Why should we pay more for O2 if we can get the exact function for a HTC???? Furthermore O2 OEM from HTC!!!!

I previously own O2 orbit quit for some time.It was the best PDA phone I ever had.(I have used Imate JAM, O2 Atom, etc.)When I have serviced my ORBIT since some problem with Keys, the radiation afterwards was high and could not use that phone. Now I am waiting for orbit II and want to know the advanced features over the orbit. Can I get useful tips?

Let me clarify a few things. Firstly, uses co-pilot, not tom-tom. Secondly, handset is free on �35 tariffs and above. Thirdly, to get free co-pilots must be on �40 tariffs or above. Below �40 tariffs co-pilots cost �100. Fourthly, other than that it's just an orbit with the new version of windows mobile six. Fifthly, the most comprehensive and easy to use and reliable smart phone from the united kingdoms best network provider. ALSO.. Available in some stores as early as January 28th, so check local stores. ALSO ALSO.. I cannot compare this pda with HTC TOUCH. Although it has very good specifications like all other O2 it fails. Very good battery but extremly short life. O2 PDAs have the same problem...

Now 4th of Feb onwards. Its going to have co-pilot satnav like old one. (this is extra depending on tariff) Will take upto 32gb micro sd cards.

It's coming out on the 22nd I think the woman said. The plan sounds quite cheap on a �35 a month tariff. I think it'll cost me 60 quid to upgrade. Not bad at all. Still need to know if it has tom tom on board tho. Anyone?

Anybody know about the GPS on these? I'm weighing up this and the Nokia n95 8gb, and I know I can download new maps for countries I go to with the latter. Is there any sort of option to do the same with the Orbit 2? It's tom tom software yeah? Thanks

The o2 website does indeed state that the maximum capacity is 2GB. However, the in-store magazine that o2 produce states that it can handle up to 32GB which must mean that it complies with the SD 2.0 standard as per the HTC TC.

this is not a slide phone and does not have a keyboard, it is the HTC touch cruise which is being released on the o2 network, only difference is the shell. it has windows mobile 6 and a touch flo finger navigation system as well as a stylus. it is due for release in the UK later this month and wont be cheap. the only confusing thing is the micro SD slot. on the O2 website it says maximum of 2GB support, whereas other site reveal that it support sd 2.0, which is the same as SDHC so it should support atleast 4GB if not more, anyone have any info? thanks

improved and upgrade verson of the old o2 xda orbit. but they missed the LED flash as well as increasing the hardisk storage. 500mb-1gb would have been a good progress.
