Orange San Diego - User Reviews

  • What's the original phone?

  • It was made by Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd but re-branded by other company's.

  • The power button breaks eventually, it's just a small piece of plastic, and would be an easy fix if you could get the part. They are made in India under the name Xolo X900. I use mine with the back off, you can press the power button on the circuit board with your nail. The battery is now going though, and it's soldered to the mainboard so pretty hard to replaced. You can change the settings to never sleep when on power and use it connected to the charge. If you need to unlock it, Orange were bought out by EE, so if you look at unlocking there it's £8.95 phone credit.

  • Does Anyone Knows Which Producer Did This Phone and how is it called? (ZTE, Huawei, etc...).....exactly....a link eventualy...Thanks !!!

  • am in uganda n having a orange san diego but i cant use it requires for a pin to unlock. why do you create phones which cannot be easily used in other countries by putting restrictions on your products. i need hel`p to unlock my orange san diego my email address is [email protected]

  • Hi iam hitesh and i am from india where should i get power button assembly i have same problem as you have please suggest on ASAP basis & also battery getting discharge after every 6hrs RE\\\\

  • This phone, although operates fine, has one defect. the power button constantly breaks and gets stuck inside and becomes unusable. I have this through orange and both my wife and I have had to have it exchanged 4 times in 2 years because of the same defect! Once the button is broken it is impossible to fix. Orange are always happy to replace but it will cost you £25 each time, even though this seems to be a known fault!

  • well i cant believe howe poor this phone is. i had it. it loads of orange bloatware, extremely slow performance. and the camera was bland and lifeless images. shame because it was lightweight, and looked good. Major compatible issues with android apps. all the top games didnt run on it. And it over heated, but these were the issues i had. maybe other people have good experience.

  • If this phone was not on orange then I would Deco get it, I know that this phones is also the lava solo x900 but I can't get it here in the UK.

  • Is this phone supported in the Netherlands?

  • I want to know that is this cell phone is supported in United States?

  • Your phone is locked to Orange UK. You can ask to have it unlocked by Orange UK after 6 months from purchase date. They charge £20.00. You can pay via Orange UK top-up or via credit/debit card.

  • Yes

  • hi everybody ihav recieved this phone from my mother)i live in ghana please hoz to decode this wonderful gift thanks

  • awsome

  • Orange san diego is available as Xolo x900 in India. You can buy Xolo x900 instead. I own this device and it's a great experience.

  • The easiest way is to call Orange and ask them, they will charge you £23.

  • I'm considering buying this phone. How can I unlock it, please?

  • hi ,i just both san diego from england and im in spain,,,but when i put my spanish orange sim card in ,it asks for network sim lock after i tipe pin code.pls help me someone.

  • Battery life is really very good.Awesome Ram And don't underestimate the single core...bcoz itz INTEL and it has a benchmark(AnTuTu) of 11,500 more than Galaxy S2 And Note.Using it since 1 month...Runs High HD videos(1080p) and Games without any lag.Awesome Phone.Itz worth the money we pay.I would recommend every one to purchase this smartphone

  • Hi, I was just wondering that if I buy this product as of like May 2013, will it have Android Market or Google Play Store. Thnaks...

  • Gigabyte is not the manufacturer, the deive is made by FIH (foxconn international holdings) it has been proved on modaco forums :-)

  • Great phone for the price. Not top-spec in any way but certainly above average in every respect. Processor is decently quick, screen resolution is excellent, verging on 'Retina display' quality. Camera is nothing special but I've used worse. Best £100 phone I've ever had.

  • Gigabyte is maker of this phone

  • Is this xolo900 is manufacture of Intel or lava.

  • is xolo 900 is manufacture of Intel or lava

  • how do you root it? [email protected]

  • this phone is ok. having had one for 3.5 months. i like the size. but the phone itself is ok. camera is shocking. colourless and bland. no vibrancy. the screen is responsive. what i have found is the compatability with android apps. as there are a lot of new ones that just dont work. i did the ics update which made a few changes. but overall an average phone. if it was a first android phone you might think it better.

  • Better in every way than my old I Phone 3. A+++++++

  • hey boss man ;)

  • Best phone i have ever used!! Really good camera quality

  • This has got to be one of the best phones i have ever used LOVING IT

  • i bought it straight away and it was was shit because it was limeted by gingerbread but then soon and the ice cream sandwhich update came it was amazing its better than the iphone 4s and on par with the iphone 5 and galxy s3

  • can anybody tell me the website to buy the above produt online..? if any body had brought it already please tell me how good is it??

  • Got it this week and I was surprised that it came with ICS pre installed on it, its fast and brilliant as i got it for half price for £100 from Orange.

  • HI, could someone please tell me if this phone is compatible with urbeats? Thanks, Sam.

  • Had my first san diego phone for three months and the lock button broke at the to, two months after that (now) the phone has broke again. Not happy with this at all, contemplating paying the fee to end my contract because now it is just a nuisance.

  • Hi there....can anyone tell me....with this phone can I receive email strait away like iPhone..... When u go to mail setting in this phone...there is option to receive email after 5, 15, 30 or an hour.....but there is no option that I should receive strait away.....why......? Pls advise.......????? Thanks

  • With £30-£35 back from the cash back sites.

  • Can you Tell me Where the Instruction are to Root this the San Diego, Also can this phone be Unlocked Now.

  • Yes finally rooted.San diego and Xolo X900.

  • you can use a micro sd card just as long as it is 16gb and below

  • When is it coming to Kenya?

  • Reduced to £170 as of mid October

  • ics is here ! ! !

  • it is out i have it.

  • I have the ics update on this phone

  • Now ICS is Available ! ! (ive got it !)

  • Ball ache without ICS, needs to be updated ASAP

  • Unbelievably comments regarding compatibility, I have upwards of 50 apps on my san diego with absolutely no issues at all this is a fantastic phone the price is excellent and I wish people would keep any "failings" they believe exist with it in sharp contrast.

  • Still no sign of the ICS update promised months ago. Don't even consider buying this phone until that happens - app compatibility is a real problem until 4.0 hits.

  • nice

  • I have neen trying to root it for previous 6 weeks will anyone tell me how to root it.

  • There are WiDi receivers available in market that can be hooked to TV and can use the WiDi feature. Netgear and D-Link make them.

  • Only chipset with Wi-Fi Display but no end products built-in this technology

  • I have had this phone for nearly 3 weeks now and I can not fault it one little bit. This is an amazing phone for for such a small price! The only thing I can think of is that maybe they should of given the phone an excellent 5mp camera instead of an average 8mp one. The pictures it takes are fine, not as good as the W995 I have just replaced but they are still good enough. The HD video recording could be better though. In regards to it only having one core, it does not need anymore than that. There is no other phone in the market that loads web pages as quick or smoothly. The UI runs really smoothly too with no stuttering or lag. I think the main problems with this are that there is no expandable memory, yes if you manage to get the back of the phone off there is a micro SD card slot but it is not a functioning one. Also as this is the first Intel phone in Europe most games have been made to run with ARM not Intel so quite a few of the top games are not compatible at the moment but this will change in the very near future. All round this is a fantastic phone and well worth the money, also the battery will last a full 24 hours easily under normal use. Obviously as with all phone's these days, hammer games and youtube all day and you will need to charge it before the end of the day. All I am waiting for now is the ICS update, I hope this will arrive before the already hinted at September release date. To the person that asked if it has Wireless Display, yes it does. I have not used it yet so can not comment on the performance but it is there to be used.

  • Does this phone have WirelessDisplay (Intel WiDi) technology to stream videos directly onto TV?

  • they are same phones......

  • I wanted to ask that this phone support the USB OTG or not because i have XOLO x900 and they both have same configuration.

  • It is worth mentioning xolo x9000 is rated as 3rd best smart phone by crn.com

  • Same phone like Xolo x900

  • well having owned this phone for a few weeks, i give an honest opinion. 1. very good full hd video recording. 2. camera lacks colour and vibrancy. 3. quick on the internet. even on 3G. 4. very good screen. overall a good phone. now if the ICS software update sorts out the niggles we will have a awesome phone. as it is, its a very good phone. Maybe orange could go to samsung,lg, next time hardware. just for that bit better quality. i give it a 7/10. well done anyway. would of have 8/10 if it was not for the Orange bloatware

  • Does final fantasy 3 in the app store work with this?

  • I bought this phone last week, and this is the fastest phone I have ever worked with. Near 300ppi density, super fast browsing, heavy internet pages opening in a sec, etc. It'll be the best phone ever, in price/features ratio when it gets ICS/JB upgrade.

  • It is undoubtedly the best bargain considering the performance and the feature set you get with it. Though I dont own the phone yet, had opportunity to try out friend's phone overnight and loved it. Goin to get it.

  • Im planing to buy Orange San Diego phone and i want to know, is 200 pounds fair price for what you get in this phone. Can some owner of phone write me, is phone worth of price. Regards, Mihael

  • Made by Gigabyte not Orange

  • No unlocking at the moment. Orange will unlock it (for a fee) once you have owned it for three months. The bootloader is also locked so proving difficult to hack for custom roms so far, but some are trying. Don't buy if rooting and custom roms are what you want as it may or may not happen. Having said that it's a powerhouse of a phone for £200.

  • No radio built in I am afraid. The phone does support WIFI hotspot tethering but not DLNA out of the box, however DLNA clients are easily available (and some of them free) from Google Play Store and they work fine.

  • The phone is made by Gigabyte not Lava. The Lava Xolo is also made by Gigabyte. The Lenovo K800 (which is basically the same phone) it however made by Lenovo themselves but pretty much sticks to the same reference design.

  • well its as i thought. this phone is very good. admitedly the camera is ok. just ok. the full HD video recording is awesome. again depending on light. low light bit iffy. probably will be amazing when the ICS update comes out. but overall a good phone with lots of potential. only niggle i have one too much orange bloatware. shame you cant uninstall all the crap you dont need.

  • Well well well, what do we have here? Has san diego gone mobile? Oh come on now orange this is absolutley apalling. Your trying to combine the iphone and a samsung and naming it after a pet pig. Why don't you go back to the fruit market and stop trying to steal designs. Apart from that, big up the effort you must have put in.. to stealing peoples ideas.

  • well this phone is made by gigabyte. is a great pc motherboard maker. so should be reliable. i want to get one. i have heard lots of mixed reviews. from good to awesome to shocking to bad. i will reserve judgement. and yes there is an ICS update, as ive been told by orange. cool.

  • Yes but SD slot us non working at the moment

  • Where I can get it unlocked?

  • For goodness sake people it's made by Gigabyte. Orange told me and reviews have said so.

  • That is at pre-launch but when you get the phone you have to clip it off look at youtube he shows you tutorial

  • the battery is à 1460Mah

  • The manufacturer is not Lava. Both Orange San Diego and Lava Xolo 900 are based of Intel reference design manufactured by Gigabyte. Excellent hardware for the price.

  • Is the San Diego screen back-lit so it can be seen out doors in daylight. Cheers

  • The manufacturer is LAVA , Not Gigabyte !!!!! for proof : the real name of this phone is LAVA XOLO X900, Just take a little time to search in the net ;)

  • hello staff of GSMArena ! there is à SD card slot ,(up 32Gb) it's just below the battery , put this in the specs please.

  • This phone is based of Intel reference design and is best bargain as it comes with power packed features at moderate price. I think DNLA should be supported.

  • the manufacturer is orange or zte as some people might call it

  • No it's not there was one before it

  • It is manufactured by intel

  • the manufacturer is Gigabyte :)

  • I should like to know if it have DLNA,Radio with RDS,Wi-Fi direct, anda if it have in box HDMI cable? This is a great device, plenty of a excellent features, and apps. But i need to know who is it manufacturer?

  • Did it has DLNA?And wi-fi direct?Someone answer that...

  • Why don't you buy the LAVA XOLO X900 if you want to use it in India? it's available at major online stores starting from 22k, it's just marketed by LAVA in india, not manufactured by them.

  • I have been using this phone at work since we received the demo unit last week, and so far I am very impressed. Whilst it is a sealed unit, with no option to expand the memory, the 16GB USB storage more than makes up for this. The camera is very impressive, the OS is clean and well featured, and the performance of the device is crisp and quick. The screen's high resolution makes the display very clear, and it is very good for gaming and browsing as a result. 10/10

  • Sorry, prices starting from £15.50 on contract and £199 on PAYG.

  • I couldn't see away to take the back off to put an SD card in and I was playing with it pre launch. It's a solid unit. Sim is a micro sim opened with a pin like the iPhones.

  • want to know is this phone service provider oriented or can i change it..... if yes will an indian sim card work in it?????/

  • £199 on PAYG, Contract starting from £20.50 (£15.50 if home broadband taken) V fast handset, Android Gingerbread, upgrade able to ICS in October. Best battery on any smartphone. A very exiting phone from Intel, one of the biggest names in computing. Atom Z2460 single core, hyper threaded.......Yes please!!

  • Fastest phone, great experience, good graphics, camera and performace with good battery life.

  • There is an sd card slot, you just have to pop out the back cover and put it in the slot whereas you can put the sim card from the outside of the phone via the pin

  • first Intel phone was made by an Indian company lava with same specs and identical design

  • Just spoken to Orange about this phone - it has a microSD card slot and should be released by end of this month. £15.50 per month or £199.99 pay and go.

  • It has a micro-sd card slot under the back cover. This is the same phone as the xolo x900 which was released in India about 6 weeks ago, there are a few reviews and videos out there. Orange (UK) will be releasing this on 6th June. It will be priced at £200! (prepay)

  • Actually this one is made by Gigabyte but a most of the other orange phones are made by ZTE.

  • Can't wait to see this phone but sounds to good to be true, the stats are awesome just hope its cheap to buy.but still wondering if has card slot...?

  • The phones are made by ZTE

  • Huawei G300 performance7,9 (1ghz) Santa Clara performance 3,8 (1.6ghz) 1gb ram ????????????? Gsmarena explain please.

  • Will this phone available in Malaysia? Or it will only launch in Europe?

  • its need super amoled plus and dragon trail and 3300mah battery to get the top of world of smarts please sell this here in brazil intel

  • Certainly at the very beginning, this year's Mobile World Congress (Mobile World Congress 2012, MWC 2012) has emerged as a dedicated quad smartphones. No wonder, since in recent months have seen three quad components Tegra, Snapdragon S4 and even new Exynos. It was time to see them incorporated into actual devices. But alongside them is easy to forget that Intel is the market of mobile processors. At the exhibition in Barcelona was named the first Intel Medfield-based smartphone with Android for Europe. So far, the code name is Santa Clara and will be distributed by Orange, under the brand of telecom. The device offers:

  • first intel phone.

  • I think it is made by Gigabyte.

  • display 4,03" 1024x600 but what technology? who made this phone (huawei?)

  • very nice phonny !
