Palm Centro - User Reviews

  • Actually, I still find that it's one of easiest phones to use. It's dead simple for me. I never even had to think about it, except maybe trying to find Back, when I remember all of sudden to press Done.

  • This phone is really hard to use, not easy to use at all! At least, compared to smartphone today, this phone is complicated!

  • It's 10th anniversary of this phone and I wonder how many people in the world are still using despite the os being abandoned and unsupported for years already Can people still use Facebook Skype on this phone ?? I am sure watch YouTube or check email texting calling on this phone has no problem .......what do you think

  • this is the best phone ever! it has real neat features no other phone I have ever seen has like for example u can choose any key on the qwerty keyboard to be a dedicated shortcut key. u can set the F button to take u to facebook and the M key to take u to myspace and u can have the J key set as a speed dial button to call Jason. and have the C button set to bring up the camera. also I love that I can download ringtones directly from myxer without having to connect to my pc. also I can press and hold on any pic and it gives option to save to my pics. it has email and IM. it has ms office products such as word. can view pdf files. can share photos thru text bluetooth or attach to email. can rotate pics. pic quality isn't great and there is no flash. there is video. I have yet to find a phone that offers as many features.. only cons is the pic quality, 2G , not many apps are compatible. wish I could use this phone with boost...

  • It's not fair to ask if a phone will work in your country without stating the type of network you're on. It's like asking if a car will drive in your country. Guess you need to have basic knowledge how phones work first. Phones operate on either GSM or CDMA. Which one of these do you have. Could be both coz we have both in Kenya. Kinda embarrassing question.

  • I have had this phone since april 08, it is a good phone, treat it well and it will be good for you! i have no problems with it at all

  • That is my first Palm and np so far, seems to be ok.

  • If I had to rate this phone on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6. It's okay, but it there are better phones out there. I've had this phone for 1 yr and 7 months and it's my second one. I got the phone in Nov '08, and in July of '09 I had to replace it because of an internal speaker problem, my keyboard is on it's way out, and the battery life kinda sucks (but I do text a lot throughout the day. It's an okay phone, but if you're looking for a phone with a good camera or easy to use keyboard you should look elsewhere.

  • It's very very beautiful phone.because I have it.

  • I have lost screen icon functionality twice in 30 days --different units.Incomming is lost and outgoing going limited. I also converted to a Vista 64 bit laptop which does not allow a USB synch. Must use Bluetooth but Bluetooth path did not exist on my replacement unit. Five calls, typical failed efforts to solve resulted in escalation that reached a rare tech that thought about base causes rather than general feature activation. Sync was prevented for 6 months, calendar and more lost. The 64 bit issue has been known since 2007 and should be an early problem solving query, verification of the Bluetooth option closely following. I question Palm's support professionalism and concern. The repeated LCD problem adds to my doubt about Palm's last generation products.

  • i am in uganda and i want to inquire whether the palm centro works in uganda. this is coz i want to buy it but am not so sure........ E-mail: [email protected]

  • yes its a great device though probably a better PDA then a phone , But then no PDA makes a great phone as they are born PDA's and phone function is forced on them .

  • Yes Most batteries have to be charged once before using them , thats normal .

  • If you bought this phone after 2008 and do not like it its your own fault. The company even noted then that the Garnet OS was 4-5 years out of date. They invested a sizable amount of money in creating the new Web OS for a reason. The phone is actually quite nice for the period it was created(2007). If you recently bought the phone do not complain about it sucking because you simply didnt do your home work before you bought it. The phones threaded messaging is still better than many phones on todays market but call quality leaves much to be desired. Over all not bad from a 2007 phone.

  • I had this phone for less than a year and it just died. I changed the battery, did a hard and soft reset but was useless. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

  • Palm is one of the shixxxx phones I have ever used in my whole life. It's only one month old. 75% of the time when I receive a call it's getting stuck. Don't ever buy this piece of shixxx.

  • it is not so user friendly even if i'm using it for a while and even though i got the hang of it.. it's just ughh!!

  • how to save a file in SD/MMC memory card? and how to install it?

  • Infrared can be enabled through system->prefs->power->beamReceive=on

  • this is a really graet phone.... picture quality is absolutely great!!! better than alot of other smart phones, but theres a flaw i came across and other persons seem to have the same problem, the phone freezes when making and receiving calls.... otherwise its a really nice phone, great features....

  • My spacebar, backspace, eneter, alt, zero and shift aren't working on the keyboard; if I want to write any thing it looks like this "itlookslikethis". Does anyone know why that might be? Or better yet how to fix it?

  • what are the steps to activating an Infrared?

  • I just wanna know how to Hotsync may Palm Centro with my Sony laptop???

  • I bought a new battery today, but was unable to see if it works as it came totally dead. Is this normal?

  • Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried that before, unfortunately ... no luck :-(

  • U might want to try disable auto keypad lock feature. Not sure if that helps, but it works for my case.

  • This would be a generally good phone if it weren't for one problem. It often freezes when making or receiving calls. I first thought that it was a problem with my phone, but after talking with many owners of the same model, it really seems to be a design flaw, inherent to it. I have seen many comments on this problem right here as well. Unfortunately, palm support is not very supportive and seems to have a problem even acknowledging the problem. Even having the phone changed for another one does not seem to resolve the problem. This really made me lose my confidence in Palm as a company. I loved this phone for the first week, after that it has been useless. Beware.

  • Definitely buy it, it's fun and actually has more individuality options that there more recent pre - although the palm pre is saweet. Still, teh centro is a great phone. I am totally in love with mine, i do sooo much on it I can't tell you. Have fun

  • I have a centro, but battery really sucks, only 18 or 20 hours of charge, then uncomunicated. is it only mine?

  • I have the same problem with the adaptor I've purchased. It does get a little irritating but considering the other problems I've been having (see previous comment), launching Dial when I plug the earphone is the least of my concerns lol

  • So, I have a Palm Centro. In the beggining (first couple of weekes) I was quite pleased - the qwerty is good, I like Palm OS, and the camera is nice in spite of the low Mpx. After a while, however, I started to have trouble in receiving and making calls. The cellphone function would freeze in both situations and, what's even worse, I would not hear a thing on the calls, but the other side could hear me - that almost caused me pretty embarassing situations. I thought it was a problem with my cellphone, but after talking to some people who own this in my country (Brazil), I found out apparently it's a problem with the Centro model. Dozens of people have reported the same sort of trouble and still Palm has done nothing. To complete such bad canvas, it's the second time I have had my phone changed (Palm does not fix cellphones) while in manufactors warranty, that's to say, in less than a year. Both changes were for additional problems, not the freezing one, yet the phone continues to freeze. In a sentence - the Palm Centro is a great Palm, yet a awfull cellphone. Beware of it.

  • how much is the palms phones and what colors do yall have in the palms centro phones

  • This phone doesn't not have java , so i recommenced java users not to use , as software cannot be installed. its nice phone but the options are complicated .

  • This is my 3rd smartphone as well as Palm series after Treo 270 and 650. Although unlike other fashion phones Centro does not have fancy hardware functionalities and the currently very demanded 3G support, Palm's very mature software variety and customization are really good and stable. My Centro does not crash easily and buttons work great. My only concern is that I often accidentally press power button when trying to access home or message button.

  • well shud i purchase this phone or not!!!

  • i really like this phone but i well like it in blue so ya this is my comment people comment on my commet people might think this is but it not my has one i like it alot ttyl talk to yu later my name is pancha garza!!!!!!comment!

  • Well, this is my 4th post about Palm Centro. Eventhough the new LCD cost me so much, it is still great. Out of all the Mobile collections that I have, this is the only Phone that I occassionally use. Keyboard malfunctions really does not happen by the phone itself. Its because of the USER's way on pressing the letters. If your a HARD presser, then the keyboard would really malfunct.

  • ihate this phone gggggggggg

  • i really like this phone even if i do encounter some problems with it. Ive had this phone for about a year. Here are some hints esp. for those living in the Philippines with a palm centro. 1. having it fixed if somehow your keypad does not respond is a nightmare! Palm is not known in the country so you will have a hard time getting it fixed! 2. It is so hard to find an transformer jack so you can stick in your preferred headphones (those compatible to the ipod; universal jack) Its so hard to find a store that sells original palm accessories. There ARE fake ones but....you have to really "screw it in hard" which sets off the voice dialing program- i have NO IDEA why that happens-it gets really irritating. 3. The climate. Staying in a cold room and then walking out into a hot place is not good for the phone! the little "microchips" under the keypads get rusty!!!! (this was explained to me by a mobile fixer and i actually saw rust!) Thats all ive experienced...i am thinking of getting an iphone 3g 16gb now but if there were available accessories and there is someone who really specializes in fixing palms then id probably stick to it.

  • In have the same problem/opinion with my phone.

  • The Centro is terrible. No wifi support. I don't need to say anything else. Any PDA that does not support Wifi should not even be considered usable anymore. Piece of junk. Don't get it.

  • Had a Centro for about 1 year, then "upgraded" to a Blackberry, put up with it for 2 months before I put my sim back into the Centro! Love it, want a Pre now, particularly as you can install Classics (Palm OS) and use all your centro apps.

  • Having used this phone for 4-5 months it is the most unreliable handset i have come accross, Bluetooth doesnt connect to parrot kits. Crashes on answering calls. No Palm support for updates. Tiny keypad very hard to type with. Thank goodness for Blackberry`s, saving me from a phone thats not worth the money.

  • Hi, The palm centro is a superb mobile. Its different but lots of features, one should know how to use & understand the phone. Its fast & quick no comparison at all. Rarely it hangs, u should try & keep the phone vergine to use with out any problem, even in life also it is same so you can enjoy life without hanging.

  • This phone is great! It has good ratings so dont listen to what people say. I had it for a year and had absolutly no problems at all. sure it may not have a lot of features but neither do a lot of phones.

  • Centro is quite nice. Why in hell is everybody complaining Cantro not having all this "features that you might end up not using anyways?" GPS, 3G, and WIFI are actually monster battery guzzlers and should be avoided.. I mean, why the hell are you going to spend time surfing the net in a small tini-wini screen? Well, those conyos at Starbucks probably, but those guys and gals should be burned at the stake. Those people who experience problems with keypads, frozen OS. I mean, get real.. isnt that what we are actually getting form SYMBIAN and windows mobiles? I almost tried every one that Nokia have gush out in the market and all off the gave me "icing" every once in a while and battery life are pain in the neck. Win Mo, while productive, is dangerous.. you know what I mean..

  • Don't buy it, Palm OS is dying. If you use this phone, you will not able to use new medical softwares.

  • Hi all, i have just read all of your opinions. I'm a medical student. Should I buy this Palm Centro ? I'm so embarrassed after read all opinions T_T

  • I bought a Palm Centro about a year and a half ago now and it was amazing. (yes, you keen readers will notice i just used past-tense) It WAS amazing. For about the first 12 months my phone was flawless, i thought it was brilliant. But just after the first year, the keyboard broke. (which is conveniently just after my warranty ran out) Now, it didn't completely stop working, but the 'u' 'j' 'n' and 'enter' buttons simply do not work anymore, so my text messages are a jumbled mess and have been for the past 6 months. You might think this is because i didnt treat my phone right, but my friend is having the same issues with her Palm Centro. Another thing my friend and I have both noticed, is that whenever we press the 'answer call' button on the screen for an incoming call, the screen freezes and we are forced to take out the battery and re-start the phone. Now i don't have anything against the Palm brand, but i thought i should just warn you about these things. I do not know if me and my friend were just unlucky or if they are all like this. But i thought i should let any future Palm buyers know. But for the first 12 months, it was brilliant.

  • Palm OS is great if you can use it! Sometimes you need to be geek to solve some problems. I suggest to use backup app to backup your data periodical, it can be very useful sometimes. Its great OS, today I install TOMTOM, and I use it with separated GPS receiver. Centro is small, light, nice and high technology in small package. Thanks god I purchased some very useful software like Chatter, Treo launcher, usb modem, usb card reader, 2TweetMe, Chatopus... U am with palm os since Treo 600, 650, 680 and now Centro. I am not sure should I buy next Palm phone with web OS, but maybe I will give them try...

  • Listen very carefully...do not get any palm phone. I've used them all. Palm makes great PDAs but they are way behind in phone technology. Save your money and get something else. I am going to try Blackberry. Sorry Palm, I gave you too many chances.

  • You sure tried your best to sound smart in that post--and made a heel of yourself. Research a phone before you buy. Almost anyone knows the phone has no Wifi. And not being able to rename files with touchscreen only. Really? You're going to nitpick on that? REALLY? You make me giggle. :) Please, please do some research before you buy a phone in the future!

  • No.

  • This phone is simple and the os unbeatable. The extra apps u can download or buy are incredible. The games are brilliant (even though theyre dated). I use garmin gps software witha small bluetooth module and it works great. The phone is 1000 times more better than any windows based phone.....ive had every possible make of phone for the last 10 years, i keep getting back to palm...Cant wait to get my Pre in December...

  • is it true that the Palm Centro is blackberry connect? please i really need to know thank you

  • Loved this phone when it was new in a few months it froze up then deleted everything on it and now you can not talk on it for the dropped calls tired of saying "I'm here can you hear me now". My 2 daughters also have this phone same problem. Warrenty sent new phone today the first call was dropped 3 times called warrenty sending another, like its gonna do any good. I'm stuck in contract with AT&t till Jan 2010 can't wait to get rid of this phone. they have tried to help and really have worked with us but the phone still drops calls.

  • Dear commenters, we get it already. There's no wifi, later bluetooth & other features that a phone today already has, but get this, this phone was made to be simple and to not have all the features that is suppose to compete with other phones. Palm OS is lightweight and a lot more customizable than Windows Mobile in my opinion, the bluetooth was only intentional for headsets, nothing more really, the lack of wifi doesn't degrade the overall experience of a Palm. If you don't like the phone, then you should of brought another phone, Palm didn't force you to buy their phone now did they?

  • I just ordered this phone for my husband for his birthday--He used to use my spare Treo 650, and enjoyed alot of the features. But he didn't make use of many of the business functions of the phone. I'm thinking that this Centro may be exactly what we need for him, its a little more of an entertainment device, looks very simple, but if outdated OS (which shouldn't be an issue for my husband at all). Will provide feedback at a later time.

  • Have you ever heard of researching something before you buy it!

  • I forgot to mention that when you are trying to make calls it DOESN'T respond. Sometimes I have to press the call button 10 times so the call can go through. If I have luck, it works, if not I have to remove the battery to restart it.

  • Hello! I've had the palm centro for a year and at first I was amazed by this phone. Aftera few moonths(and a lot of headaches) I didn't like as much this phone. Disadvantage #1: IT DOES NOT LET YOU USE MP3 TONES UNLESS YOU PASS THEM THROUGH RINGOMO and YOU HAVE A MEMORY CHIP. The internal memory sucks! I bought Ringomo but, it never worked. Aside from that, I had to download Minitones in order to use my mp3 tones. Disadvantege#2: The phone doesn't sync with your computer. It includes HotSync, which isn't so Hot, which doesn't work. Disadvantage #3: The camera is really bad! Coming from a Sony Ericsson, the quality of their cameras is uncomparabale. The Centro's camera takes dark pictures and doesn't have a flash and the video cam is HORRIBLE! The video quality is just like a vga camera and has just 2x zoom. Aside from that, ever since I took it to Honduras, the phone has been acting up and freezing (not for long periods). However, it is easy to use and easy to text. I am dying to get a new phone (an LG)!!!! I wouldn't recommend this phone because it was expensive and I don't use all the features it has and many of them just dont work or are very slow.

  • i think this phone is great and its awsomely good u should make the prices cheaper xx

  • Call History - as you scroll down - what is the limit ? - how many calls , 30 days ? Call log - is it a separate icon in the home menu and if so what is the limit? - how many calls , 30 days ?

  • I used a Palm Treo 650 and was happy with it. Now I am buying a Centro. Palm OS is great !!! Those who complains about centro not having GPS or Wi-Fi, please buy anything with the features available. We already know before from the web sites that centro doesn't have those, why complain? The OS and the bundled software are more than enough for me to do my work. I love working with Documents2Go. I like music. For these simple tasks, Palm OS is much faster than Windows Mobile. And much reliable too.. Thanks -- Ashik

  • I just got a Palm Centro yesterday.Thought its necessary to let other people know some real things about this so called 'PDA'.The Palm Garnet OS really feels like its is from the 1970s.It feels more like Windows 3.1.Applicatons likewise are limited to textpad editing, spread sheet creation and pfd reading. No games on this one.The sound quality is poor.ringtones hardly sound polyphonic. The build quality is good though.Battery backup is reasonable (not excellent).I was disgusted by the fact that there was no wifi on this one.The phone charger is a lego puzzle. You have to fit in many pieces of the plugs together to finally get it in usable condition.I tried out the bluetooth on this, transferred a mp3 file of 3.5 mb and it took 10 mins. The speed of the 1.2 bluetooth is disgusting on this one.The menu is confusing as every operation cannot be performed using the touchscreen. You require a combination of the touchscreen and the keypad to get the full menu.Say for instance you want to rename a file, its not possible using just touchscreen.Touchscreen seems to be kept only for the basic functions. Overall a very stylish ,well built phone with features that suck.I wish it would have been loaded with a better OS.Garnet is definitely very dated and doesnt offer any of the advanced features. If you are going for it ,be sure to understand the warranty terms and complete features, like wifi and gps. The shopkeeper claimed that a gps antennae can be fitted into this, but i doubt it.

  • is this a good phone

  • Hey everyone, i am holdin the palm centro for about 4 months now and i still dnt kno if u can bluetooth songs to another device?? and can if u can transfer music from the pc to the device??...if so can u tell me please... Thanks in advance!...

  • yes, it has its own pen

  • Does it support blackbeery connect Rgds Snehjit Kar

  • it should be in your phone. Mine came with one. If you look at the back of the phone there should be a tiny slit of color that is slightly different then the rest of the phone on both sides. It is the smaller of the two on the left- if looking from back. It should pull right out.

  • can anyone tell me if this phone has a pen that you can use on the screen

  • try pairing it with "0000"

  • Can anyone tell me how to pair a Nokia BT headset BH-301 with a Sprint Palm Centro?

  • well if I was you I wouldn't buy one. I had 3 of them less than 3 months.it freeze all the time .drop calls. go off by itself. and tha last centro I had with off and never came back on. I loss all my contact numbers. bc the phone wouldn't come back on.so I could save them to my sim card. so if was you i wouldnt.

  • I love this phone for you who dont just give it another shot there are so many free apps for it that help you manage ur checkbook and shopping list its awsome im buying the new palm treo pro i just love palm products thumbs up

  • can iput the wifi card slot in the palm centro

  • OMG I love this phone! Ive had it for a year and I havent had one problem with it. It only froze once and I love the text messaging as chats. I highly recommend this phone, its AWESOME!

  • The Palm Centro is a great phone! For all those people who hate it, your wrong, people just hate it becuase of the small keys but after a day or so youll get used to it! So take my advice and get the Palm Centro.

  • Why are you disapointed?

  • Yeah right. like it was released two years ago.

  • To those that say that this phone is unreliable, you couldnt be more right. Ive had to replace it twice, the battery poops out and it shuts itself off with no warning. Palm Centro = Terrible

  • this phone is flipping amazing. to all those who say its crap, boo you! of course its gonna run slower if you download and put an overload of crap on it. however, i have had this phone for nearly two years and have lots o music, draw pictures on it constantly, and text as if i were about to die and its frozen on me a max of 10 times. two years, ten times. thats great!

  • I had the centro fr 6 months and it already crashed. The battery is bad. The phone is not SMART at all..i suggest u start looking into other phones and muc bettr makers than Palm..

  • I have had this phone replace as of today 3 times. I am now getting a different cell. I have had wonderful help from my cell phone carrier. The phones I have had have powered down without me atempting to do anything at times & just sitting on my desk(you can hear the start) I gently suggest another pda/smartphone. Features are not a good thing if you have to do master resets practically every day and it erases all your settings and microsd card does not hold all info.

  • Basically you'll like this phone if you like the Palm OS - it is a straightforward icon based thing that has been around a long time and is moron proof. I think feels like macs used to in the 90's, which some people find old fashioned, others find reassuring. As a result, excellent for general apps (calendar, contacts etc) syncing with a pc, mp3, use as a phone. Web browser is ok; also, hundreds of older, free apps out there Weakness are the camera and lack of 3G or wifi, but a lot cheaper than top end smartphones if you can live without these (I can), max memory card is 4Gb

  • I don't like the Palm Centro because it's a bother to use without the stylus. Also, the camera is weak and the OS can be annoying. Go to your service provider and play with the phone for several minutes. If you like the way it feels, buy it (but not from your provider).

  • Please can some one tell me where i can get battery for this phone in Bangalore.

  • Hi, since youre interested in buying a new cell phone, I would suggest you wait until the mid of 2009, since thats when Palm Pre. But still if you want to get yourself a centro you might want to have a look at the following link:

  • hi, i want the palm centro really bad. i have been crying over this phone. But i need some advise weither i should get this phone or not. i have been reading some comments. there are a lot of people that say this phone sucks, but the features rock. can someone help me figure out weither i should get this phone, or the samsung propel for AT&T. please. someone help me figure which phone would be better. Thank You .

  • to everyone that wants, owns,or considering a palm centro smartphone. I have had this phone for almost 3 months, and guess what i loved it in the beginning ,but don"t now.I have been threw 3 of them I"m on my 4 one.It shuts down and reboots it self all the time doesn"t matter what ur doing. The bad thing is Palm inc. knows that the phones r defective. and r not willin to do anything about it. So if u have had the same problems write or post a comment and make a complaint with the better business bureau. Thanks

  • motorola a3100 is very beter even q11 is beter from this

  • Dont bother buying it or agonising over it. Go for the treo pro or Sony Ericsson X1. I had one for 3 months and had to send it back because the LED keypad light stopped working. It does seize up, not infrequently, needing to be reset. Call quality is poor.

  • just wanna ask the centro owners, can you use voice command when making a txt messages. i saw a review in youtube, the guy uses his voice in composing an email... thanks

  • Okay here is the scoop I bought this in the beginning because of its name really. I liked all the features but after having it for over 5 months its beginning to get old. Its very difficult to text and gets annoying very quickly. Plus if you dont keep on top of your inbox/outbox it SLOWS way down. Gets very hot when I talk on the phone for extended periods of time. Howerver the touch screen and features are top notch its just i wouldnt buy it over again if given the chance. Give it some good thought.

  • I have a question for anyone who's willing to help, I want a palm centro really bad and looking to get one soon when I have the money, but I'm still having some thoughts that I might buy this and regret that I spent a lot of money on a device that I might not actually use as much as I thought I would. I'm 15 years old, I use email occasionally but I do IM and message a lot along with web browsing, I'm in my final year at school and want something productive to help me with my work on the go, I like to game, use different programs and watch movies and listen to music, is this phone really worth 150? Is the experience and the applications on the phone, and available for the phone as good as you say? Please respond soon, I really want a palm phone but when it comes to big prices I sort of get a lot of negative thoughts of regret. Thanks.

  • can microsoft outlook run in palm centro?

  • This is the last successfull! Device if they had implemented a larger battery would be perfect!! Do go for 800w it has Ruindows mobile!! Palm made a bad step on 800w

  • how did u do that?

  • This phone is not capatible with A2DP. Therefore, this spec is not right. The phone does not support a2dp

  • THE BAD it freezes sometimes.. mainly when my battery is low. it gets annoying when someone is calling and it just freezes! sometimes when i try to dial someone, it doesnt dial then seconds later i look back on the phone and its dialled someone. it turns off by itself when i install something, eg a game or a software. i dont know how to send songs through bluetooth. you cant set an mp3 song as a ringtone or alarm, unless you download a program (for the ringtone) or you set a reminder on your calendar (for the alarm) it doesnt have flash for the camera when recieving a file from bluetooth, it doesnt ask for your permission THE GOOD its cute! it has this messenger like inbox where msgs you've recieved from someone shows like a chat conversation. it makes it so much easier when youre sending a msg to someone cos u dont have to go to 'reply' or find their number its so easy to categorize the programs you have more control! you can download so much free programs (www.freewarepalm.com) the camera quality is pretty good for 1.3mp it has its own built in color themes.. theres more than 20 to choose from and some of them are not bad at all! did i mention that its touchscreen+key+qwerty keyboard you can apply shortcuts to so many things cos you have all the buttons on the key board to assign them to i cant think of other good or bad things at the moment, these are just the things that stand out to me. overall i really like this fone. i mean, despite the disadvantages.. its quite a nice buy for $300. i love it! oh and by the way if u guys have any comments feel free to add whatever!

  • just gonna post my supposedly original comment i have posted last month and it seems as if i was dead drunk while typing it. harhar. anyway, here goes, i love palm. i love centro. i love everything about this phone. as what ive said before, im a phone collector, and this is the only phone that stayed with me which i keep on using for 7 months already. the longest phone that i have was JASJAM for 5 months wherein i had my father trade in his palm... :D

  • Hello MJ. I just bought my centro last week. i got it at ambassador at greenhills 3rd floor of a mall (dont know the name). anyway, i scouted already for the cheapest offer. sila na ang pinakamura. they gave me a 2MB microSD to go with it. bought it at 16,400Php cash. but you can get it using your credit card for a a little higher cost. mas mahal sa iba kse 2 thou more ang price. without the 2MB microSD pa!

  • hi mj, if your still interested, please call 638-6868 local 2032..look for bambie

  • Here you are: Hope you will be vry satisfied with your Centro! :)

  • I have just bought my Centro this week. there is an error in the specs: the Palm CENTRO does have infrared port!!! somebody knows where can i download free software for the palm os system? thanx

  • ive seen some in the mall stores for about 17,000pesos but none in the 3rd party kiosks

  • its an alright phone but the battery does go low pretty fast and you git tired of looking at the applications menu bt if thats wat u lik i wuld recommend this phone!

  • Where in the Philippines can this phone be bought? And is there any info like pricing?

  • Hey i have noticed that the keyboard on my centro doesnt light up... Is that my problem or am i just dreaming and it was always like this? Thanks will

  • I have used this phone for about 4 months, after switching from a Samsung D600. Without a doubt, this phone is an absolute performer. With the plethora of applications built for the Palm OS, you can do practically anything. And the speed of this phone because of its lightweight UI and fast processor is a stunner. The build is not all that great, and just one drop was enough to produce bad looking dents in two places on my Centro. The camera is amazing. I was apprehensive about it, what with it being a 1.3MP (after switching from the D600's impressive 2MP) but it has amazing colour detection and makes for impressive daylight shots. The shots in the dark, if taken properly are decent. One only wishes that Palm had made for white-balance adjustment in it. The keyboard is great. I have long and stubby fingers, but after just a day with it, I could type messages very fast. Fact: I wrote a 6 page report for college completely in the device since my laptop was not functioning, thanks to the keyboard and DocsToGo. The call quality is sharp and voice is clear (although not as good as Samsung's). The headset provided with the device does not cut the mark as a LOT of ambient noise is picked up. There is nothing at all that I dislike about my new baby, though! The software platform is one of the fastest things the mobile phone world has seen. Go for it if you want - A fast device - A good messaging and office platform - A decent web experience.

  • actually, Centro is a very nice eventhough. eventhough the i don't use all the features, i still feel that this is the bomb!!!! i haven't changed my phone for 5 months already (i'm a handphone collector).

  • Just used it for a month, found it user friendly, but as usual palm that I dun like is no multi function such as the Windows. Then the keypad is too small n look not so good, and the stylus is too cheap-looking. One problem I have is that it's so hard to browse, and it is not stable when I run the IM+ for instant messenger, therefore I have to soft reset it again and again. Although connection already established, sometimes it still can't connect to the web. I don't know whether this is the problem with the internet provider or the device but I will find out asap since it is very important. But so far it's okay except for the internet connection which is so frustrating.

  • i like this one cuz its kewl very col i want that one bnut im already gettin the walk man

  • This phone seems really good. I just want to know how much the additional cost for Windows Live Messenger is?

  • would like to know how to set ringtones for contacts

  • Hi! You should definitively get one, you won't be disapointed. :) There are many IM solutions available, I strongly recommend Mundu IM, since it has support for many protocols.

  • Im About to getting a Centro, but first i want to know if it have Messenger like Windows live Messenger or Yahoo messenger or if i can install any other. And also i would like to know if you can use an mp3 song as a ringtone??? I'll waiting the answer! Thanks!!

  • Hey hey, I'm back. So far so good, It's been one week since I have answered all my incoming calls that way and so far no freezing in all calls.

  • Evon: Like you and many others, I too experience about half my incoming calls freezed when I answered them. Very frustrating. I have tried two different cache-emptying programs (FlushIt and Reset Doctor) but problem still exists. Currently I am trying the method of answering the calls pressing and holding the green (Send) button for 0.5 to 1 second, instead of pressing the button and releasing quickly, so far my past 3-4 calls have not frozen up yet. Looking promising so far. Try it.

  • YO! Please note that the palm centro does have an infrared port. As you face it righthand side you will notice a black patch halfway down the screen. WAH_LAH your infrared port. Yes it works. I interface with my NOKIA 5200 and NOKIA 3110c. On the 3110c please upload the latest software upgrade as the version shipped with it was buggy!

  • I had my palm centro for like close to 6 months. I love it, except, when a phone call comes in, it freezes on me. And i have no choice bt to miss that call cos it's hanged. And then do a soft restart. once i ignore it and after a while it unhang on it's own. Feels like it lapsed or something. And I am very frustrated with it cos most of the time when someone calls me, I cant answer it. at least 6 out of 10 times. If thats the software problem or I just happen to get a faulty phone? And I am thinking of switching to Palm 680, any advice on that? cos Im finding centro qwerty buttons small for me to type fast. If I have long nails, worse. But other then that, I really love using this phone. Very user frendly.

  • I have had my Centro for a week and I love it. I was a bit hesitant in buying it as no stores seemed to have any reviews etc. about it. I haven't had any problems and it has a lot of GREAT features. I mainly use my phone for txt msgs, email, calendar and the google maps. Whilst skeptical at first, I was quickly converted to a huge fan. The centro really surprised me. If you are not going to use it for business but rather because you have a busy social life then I think the Centro is a good choice and is great value for money.

  • I love Palm, I'm sure its a great phone. But damn its ugly!

  • I don't see any point modding any Palm devices. They're locked if you get it with a contract. You can have the carrier to unlock it for you after a while or get an unlocked version...

  • 800w is the best palm device so far....for a price, but this was the best before 800w. Go for Centro for basic usage. If you don't need Wifi and GPS, go for Centro, they're affordable. If price doesn't matter for you, go for 800w, you get the exact same thing in term of basic usage. I won't recommend Centro if you need it for GPS...buying a separate GPS device could be cheaper than 800w but it's troublesome.

  • can u modd these things? if so plz post an opinion tellin me the website. thnx in advance

  • I think that there will not be a review, because it is a CDMA smartphone and not a GSM... I beleive that is why there is no Treo 755 too...

  • not, this is not the best palm dude. 800w is the BEST PALM! But gsmarena is lazy and we have no 800w review (yet?) u_u`

  • This is the best of the best palm smart phone!!!

  • just 2 small for age 40+ eyes. but very versatile phone. had about 2 weeks but going to trade it in for something i can see.

  • Yes, of course it is. :)

  • Is it possible to put videos onto this phone from your computer after you install the player?

  • Yes, it does. After you install Core player or TCPMP it supports everything - avi, divx, flv and others. :)

  • does the centro play back video if so what formats does it support.

  • It actually does have InfraRed. I've acutally used it as a remote controller for my TV.

  • Actually the screen diagonal is 2.25 inch

  • No fm radio.

  • does palm centro have radio?

  • hey every1 just a question,im in oz and im thinking about buying 1 of these, just for emails and things can any1 tell me if u can use msn messanger on this at all????//feel free to reply to [email protected]

  • I guess ab was asking about the screen diagonal length. I believe its 2.2 inch.

  • Are u blind? 320x320!

  • can anyone tell me how big is the screen? usually gsmarena would put it in the specs but they didn't mention it for this phone/

  • i'm meant if you're talking about roaming. but if 2g should be able to support from your local network from any country as long as phone is unlock in that particular country.

  • maybe not anywhere in the world. countries like south korea and japan and more which i don't know needs 3g - UMTS or wcdma and stuff like that for universal mobile telecommunication system.

  • Is TheRe DeLiveRy RepoRt MessagE in ThiS pHonE ? IneeD thaT... ! PLeaSE RePly mE

  • Of course not! Centro has Palm OS, it is sooo much better than windows mobile, trust me. :)

  • Hey!!! Hi it's me again. Do the palm centro also features (Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard Edition). does it comes with it or downloadable or not at all?

  • Hi! There are many third party instant messengers - MunduIM, Verichat, and others. :) Yes, Centro should work anywhere in the world. :)

  • Hey!!! Once it say GSM Network that means it can be use any where in the world right? I'm from Jamaica and i wanna know if this phone can use there, it says GSM Network that means any where right?................ if anyone see this please reply back to me ok, i really want to buy one of this phone but first i wanna know if it works in Jamaica or not ok.

  • hey!!! Do the palm centro comes with Instant Messsaging such as, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger?............ can it work on this phone?........ I would like to know please answer back to me ok.

  • With the Centro, Palm has a big hit. On par in terms of weight, nice design (many women like it, especially in white or pink), and of course plenty of software available, most of which is freeware or cheap shareware. I previously had a Treo 650. Loved it. I wanted to switch after more than 2 years of flawless use, and hesitated between the Centro and the iPhone. Finally I bought a Centro, because it is easier to use and excels as a PDA combined to a phone. I find Centro's keypad better than Treo's, because keys are soft, which is nice when you type with your nails. Very good value.

  • It's a known issue with Palm. Third party apps are often required.

  • If you are a windows lover, stop the reading "here". Otherwise keep going if you are interested on another option of O.S. level. I don't know why people like to complain about a phone with out find out his level on a specific brand. I'm palm lover. But I can't say much about Centro, my new mobile. Is not a top end smart phone. I could say it's a low end, but you may say what about 500v. I already told you stop reading windows guy, that is a windows mobile phone. Cons: - Lack of mayor upgrades such as processor speed, capacity, camera, Wireless(is not the Centro, is Palm itself) - Blazer internet browser: Where the connect/disconnect option gone? - Back cover(This is a really pain in the A**) Pros: - Voice recognition - A better internet experience - File browser application(bonus software) - Capacity - Compact I compare this phone with my old Treo650.

  • I love my Palm Centro. The functionality is great. I was occasionally experiencing the freezing up but ever since I did a hard re-set (that is sort of like a system restore which returns the phone back to it's original state when first purchased), everything has been fine. Of course, I first made sure I hot sync the phone contents to my desktop beforehand. Once I reset the phone, I hotsync from desktop to phone. No more freezes since that time. But back to the centro features. I find I use it less for the telephone and more for the internet, text messaging, tv watching, etc. The On Demand program that came with the phone is great. I also watch Sprint TV. The internet browsing is fast. I am always on youtube.com viewing videos. The ringtones I download sound fantastic. I even created voice ringtones on the phone. Loving my centro!

  • Just got the centro; cannot hotsync with my desktop calendar the computer as I cannot change the username on the phone to be the same as the desktop. How can I sync?

  • Hi! You have obviously installed some incompatible third party software that is causing the problem.

  • im a lot dissapointed with the phone, when i recibe any incoming call it frezzes and i have to restart it. They have change the phone 3 times with same problem, if someone knows how to fix the problem ????

  • to set a mp3 as ringtone you'd need to install an app on the phone: minitones . using minitones you are able to trim songs OR use already customed clips for ringtones.

  • You can actually use mp3 music as Centro's ringtone. It involves using Blazer web browser to open the mp3 file then save it as ringtone. I found the detail instruction while searching the internet. It works.

  • Hi Im from singpore....a bit dissapointed.....im trying to download my mp3 into ringtone and i cant do it. called the helpdesk and they said i have to purchased ringtone down load......soo hard.....:(

  • Yes, you can. :) It comes with a Blazer web browser and Versamail for email. From what I have heard, people are very satisfied with its speed and surfing.

  • so can you go on the internet with this device through the carrier? its only AU$299 over here in Australia on telstra pre-paid.

  • Palm still not having Wlan, I will never buy a smartphone without wlan

  • The serial no. is mention in phone info. step 1- go to main screen ( where your wallpapers is) step 2- click on menu button ( it is the last button of the right side of the keyboard) step 3- click on options step4- go to phone info step 5- SN no. is your device serial no.

  • Could you please tell us why are you dissatisfied with your TX? I have mine for more than 2 years and it is still excellent! :) I am reylly satisfied with all my Palms. :) And regarding Centro - A friend of mine has it and it is really great. :) It is fast and stable, and has really lots of options! :) And best of all - it is really cheap! :)

  • I am not buying a Palm in this life again. The TX was a dissapointment and Palm have stopped making handhelds and supporting them. not worth it

  • the serial number is the one in the back of your phone. it should be the number with a couple of letters as well.. if not try the 11 digit esn number.. hope this helps.

  • i just got my palm on friday and i am unable to access files on my mem. card? supposedly there is an application you can download but when i try it keeps asking for a serial number and i have tried every bloody serial number imaginable relating to the phone but it wont work. any ideas? i bought the phone in australia btw

  • Hi! It seems that your speaker volume is set to low. Try the following: During the call, press the up button or the upper side button until the volume is high enough. Hope this Helps :)

  • to who may be concerned. I have just purchased your palm central on Monday, 11th May 2008 in Singapore. However I have come across a problem, everytime I answer a telephone call or I make a call, the speaker to too soft and so I cannot hear the person on the other end of the line. Do you have a solution for this problem?

  • Practically the only thing that causes freezes with palm are rouge 3rd party programs. In case anyone here experiences this, you could check out some forums for their suggested applications and see if yours is part of the list, if not remove it. Another way is to do a hard reset and reinstall everything one by one, checking stability along the way.

  • Well - it doesn't have all these features because it was meant to be a low end smartphone. As far as I know, there is no cheaper smartphone available, and when you are designing something that will not cost to much, you cannot include all advanced stuff. :) But still, although Centro doesn't have all these things, I think that it is an exellent and powerful phone with lots of features and very simple to use OS. :) I really love my Centro! :)

  • absurd that does not have Internet access or 3G - palm remains technologically backward

  • i want to have a phone sex.. just call me..

  • if you don't have anything good to say, shutup and go away. Personally Centro looks great and simple to use.

  • I bought this phone 2 weeks ago, and since yesterday it has changed everything. it all started great but then the phone starts freezing so I need to take the battery out and restart the phone. Also when writing sms it delays when writing. It's really nice but I don't think it works fine.

  • I have the centro and even though the camera is a 1.3mp it takes good pics.

  • Hey I just bought this phone and haven't yet picked up a memory card. I was curious about the speed of accessing the content of a full 4gb memory card vs. a full 8gb memory card when using pTunes. Can anybody comment on this?

  • i think palm should have added wi-fi 2mp camera and good processor

  • 1.3mp camera??............tats not good...........if it was 2mp.......then many people wud hav bought it

  • Why Plam Treo always lacks of built-in Wifi? i think wireless internet[wifi] is essential for all the Smart phone or device.you gonna pay high amount of money to buy one plam treo and they dont even have all the necessary featurs available .. which is available with other cheap phones.

  • i got everything in my centro, looks, features, easy of use. thank you palm for giving such a great device

  • Compered to the Treo 680, i think this phone is slightly better, but when it comes to looks, its worse .

  • For what it does this palm this amazing! I've datebk6 inside and it's all i need.

  • Outstanding design terrible looking UI.

  • I used to think that Palm mobile phones are 'ugly' because of some engineer's or designer's lack of sense for design... But now I'm actually beginning to think that they are actually doing it on purpose....

  • its awesome. i am using palm os first time and the functionality and usability its great, its far better than any other operating system. i love my centro, its great

  • You still can't deny the simplicity and usability of the Palm OS despite it's long dormancy in the industry. If Palm would only continue to upgrade the OS and its designs it can defeat any other existing mobile products in the market and regain even surpass it's former glory. Go Palm! Hope this time you will push through.

  • QUESTION: How's the battery life compared to the Treo680? >> I didn't noticed any diference, maybe a little better yet, betwen 1 and 3 days of use, in my case.

  • Centro is awsome used One before but wish I Had one

  • this device is incredible....what is funny is that this device is about a third to a sixth of the price of the other palms and that it actually is the most functional PHONE. the audio quality is better than a home phone and the users on the other end think the reception is crystal clear. It may not have the fancy gizmos of all the other palms, but they are phones and phones are ment for talking and this does it the best.

  • QUESTION: How's the battery life compared to the Treo680?

  • This is not just a budget smartphone... This is the smallest "advanced pocket computer" you can get, with a fine telephone and rather big (2.2 inch) high resolution (320x320 pixels) screen and an amazingly good QWERTY keyboard... Then has Palm OS the finest (smart & easy) "Personal Information Managment" functionality with a great margin - so you get as example a smarter ToDo program, don't forget anything anymore, find your info lightning fast and can handle your future actions in a smarter easier way.

  • i got a palm centro for christmas and i love it ! the only thing i really dont like about it is how it freezez up@ times especaially when i am texting but other than that this is the best device ever!!!! i was thinking about getting a treo but the small compact design is perfect for my stylish behavior!!! i give it a 9.5!!!

  • Palm just hired Apple Ipod's head designer. Expect new things by late 2008 -2009. hopefully things will change

  • much like most the people on here. i hate the outdated palm os. but as many people that dislike it, theres just as many that love. you forget how many old fashioned business people out there, that just happen to love the palm os and hopes it never changes. but i am with all of you and say get something new palm!!

  • Where's the WIFI??!?!?!!

  • I've work for palm sales dep for more than a year, and being outdated is the main reason why i left and now it is still the same reason which made me dislike palm...WAKE UP PALM!!!

  • Palm is losing the game; google should buy off this company and start over.

  • hey...this is 99$ add a dollar more and i got the At&t tilt...way better 3g, wlan, windows mobiles as OS and much more...THis phone sucks!

  • This phone is soooo outdated.

  • i heard this phone is coming to at&t i cant wait,

  • it only costs 99$

  • mid low phone

  • @ jjhunter, This one was codenamed "Wanda".

  • This is useless. At least the Treo looked good.

  • i have this phone!!!!! it totally rocks!!!! it got me my new job!!!!

  • Wow, a 1.3 meg camera? 2005 here I come!!

  • So... ugly... must... close.... window...

  • I think you guys are kinda missing the point with this. Most Palms enter the market towards the higher end, this being an entry level device means that Palm have a greater device portfolio and cover more of the market. Now they're available to all users not just people looking at the top end of the market. And stop complaining about 1.3mp camera, thats not what these devices are for, if you want a higher mp camera then by all means look at Nokia or Sony. Otherwise just appreciate what Palm brings to the Market.

  • I'm wrong!!!the Palm Treo 500v is the one that is rumored as "Gandalf" haha.

  • Yes!!! It is the rumored Palm device. code name "Gandalf". haha

  • is it the rumored Palm "gandalf" or something like that?

  • very nice phone... but nothing new!!

  • omg what a crap. ancient camera, no wlan, what does it mean?

  • Palm from a leader in the handheld mobile industry to really the bottom of the list. a pathetic try for a new phone. you guys should think of selling the company off before your shares are wortheless.

  • no 3G ?
