  • When I bought this phone I was told it will be upgraded soon from jelly bean to Kitkat. One of my criteria to get this phone was that it will get updated soon. Around that time even Lollipop was already released. Nothing against the phone, medium range priced power packed phone. I recently contacted Panasonic and they said there are no plans to upgrade this phone. I have decided no more Panasonic for me. Just warning any future potential buyers be aware as they are not keeping their promise, at least in my experience. I have read many forums where lot of people were cheated and are frustrated. If Panasonic is reading this, please at least upgrade P81 to KitKat as it is a durable long lasting model.

  • Its decent infact good. The present Android version is quite good unless and until u keep in lookin at the version in the about and cribbing.

  • Its plug and play... no software. Try connecting to another laptop or pc. The problem is in ur PC.

  • I have purchased P81 smartphone of your company from Amazon.com , one year back vide IMEI number 353545060347819. Recently, that means about twenty days back. I have given my mobile to your authorised service center shri sai telecom & laptop, shivaji nagar Pune, for refreshing of software as per their advise, since the apps were not opening. Before the servicing, whenever I used to connect the mobile to PC, the PC display P81 sign and the connection was OK. However after the servicing, I could not connect the mobile to PC since it did not show P81 sign. This I brought to the notice of the service center and they said that the software is not available and asked me to contact after four days. Now today again I contacted them, but the reply was that software not yet received from the company and if it is not received within 2 to 3 days, they will send my mobile to company. Is it true?. Now what should I do? and how to solve my problem? Awaiting your reply. Regards.   • Dude it is best phone but is lagging in just for updates and camera. The processor is damn fast. And by the way it is value for money but it is discontinued now. Im using it over one month. If u r an android devloper, u can root it so as to do what u cant.(except updating to kitkat and editing multiwindow) and it cant be slow with 1.7GHz octa core processor until this date is only available to very few mobiles that u can count on your fingers. If it is really lagging either use cleanmaster(truly effective) or check on internet for tweaks on android to make it faster. Please dont say bad because i love this company and this phone.panasonic has a huge (15) devlopment facility that even samsung cant afford to have one also. And moreover there is limited content about p81 on internet.Guys if u found out something new.......plz share and help out other p81 users .

  • I am using Panasonic P81 past 1 year, This screen resolution is very poor, Rear camera 13MP is really a question mark, No clarity and poor imag capture. If we do two task , the system go for hangover. Wifi direct not upto the expected speed. Overall it is not advisible to buy Panasonic P81.

  • I have been using this phone for last one year and more, the phone is an absolute seamless. Only camera which the manufacturer claims is of 13 MP is not at par. The quality is not near to even 5 MP. Front facing camera is waste. Also the phone is not very handy. But there is no lagging while surfing to the various apps and battery life is really wonderful at power saving mode.

  • While taking pictures in power saving mode the camera quality seems to be diminishing.please change the power saving mode to normal mode.For taking high quality images the camera need more power for this phone, so that the battery drains fast that's why camera is not efficient in power saving mode

Internal storage is little less, only 8 gb, out of which only 5 is available. Overall good performance. Sound quality is ok, but a bit distortion on high notes. Loud sound. Display is bright and crisp. Phone size doesn't suit all, larger than others. Battery endurance is also good. With Normal use, about 40% battery still left at the end of the day

  • I am sunning a custom note3 rom which gave astounding , unbelievable performance. Lollipop roms are sure going to come as this hardware is quite common. Overall Excellent phone with all features exceptional. Cons are no otg support, no update support from company. What like most is its battery life & good dual cameras. After installing note3 rom performance doubled up like a beast. So company's rom proved to be laggy & bulky. Confirmed kitkat update recieved at service centres but i am satisfied with this rom untill some lollipop rom is found.

  • I m using this phone from last 7months and I would say phone has some extraordinary features and some bad too With 5.5"display and very high resolution screen and extraordinary camera quality, Octa-core processor, slim and stylish but,ram is 1GB atleast it should be 1.5GB, it is light weight and delicate i.e u can't use it roughly like Nokia and Samsung Multiwindow has limited access to only 4app which is just useless OTG is not supported which is poor And it is not upgradable to kitkat or lollipop And people here are just running after Samsung so resell value is very less

I posted many complaints on Facebook.,gmail, to Panasonic team for Panasonic p81 upgrades to kitkat.......but no reply But surprisingly yesterday I got call from one of the Panasonic team member: From : Kapil Kulsreshtha Contact no. : +919650614012 E-mail : [email protected] I put my complaint related to Panasonic p81 in front of him, I. e., from launching date of Panasonic p81 model, u guys promise to upgrades it to kitkat but till now u guys didn't give any type software update for that model. N also except Panasonic p81 all other Panasonic smartphones are running on kitkat...? Panasonic team member reply : sir I regretful sorry to say that we have an technical issue for upgrading Panasonic P81 model,so we can't upgrade it to kitkat. Please share any other problem or issue if u have...? Then I said :ok, there are many other problems of Panasonic p81......... I. E., 1.REAR CAMERA FOCUSSING DELAY 2. DUAL APP WINDOW HAS LIMITED ACCESS, ON 4 APPS, etc., Then he replied :I will forward this issue to R&T DEPARTMENT, they will sort out this issue soon, n gives u an update.............! Only 2 negative point is, ram could have been 2 gb & Panasonic has still not given its update. I don't know y?

  • Since I am using this for month. I have to say that it has got 5.5ips display very clear Vibrant colors, ear piece is very good clear even in traffic u can hear clearly.,loud speaker is normal not very loud but better than any local brands, camera is very good specially with color production u have to take care while taking snap it should not shake, but it better than any local brand, in night u can take clear picture using flash at a distance of up to 3to 4 meters better than any local brands, it can record 1080 video, very clear Without zooming. if want u can zoom, but quality decreases, even sound quality is very good in video recording each every detail u can hear, yes u can select option write to SD card or phone memory, Signal quality of reception is good u will get signal inside packed room where some Mobil shows no signal, Overheating issue is not there as it got mild heated near camera that is normal on normal used, WiFi connectivity is good, Battery backup is normal not very good it last whole with normal Internet usage. If ur downloading or watching videos than it will last 4to 5 hours or u can use battery bank, Headphone sound quality is very good u don't have spent extra money for buying Headphone, Fm radio quality us very good u can hear pure stereo sound wit good quality trebal and bass. It has got android 4.2 jelly bean but it customized like kitkat without status bar, very good customization done in contact, decent contact book, record button hilights when ur calling, u can record calls, even u can record unlimited calls in calling status, It has got notification led if u got sms or call unattended led blinks in green color, if attached charger it will red color led will led glow when battery full it will change color to blue, U can play n enjoy any game smoothly as it has got octacore processor. So far I was satisfied with this phone even I have done insurance on mobile by spending 800rs extra. So there is no headache of running to service center.

  • Never buy Panasonic phones since its life is very limited. Overheating, circuit board burning is too common. If you bring it to the customer care simply they will say short circuited by water and will cover by warranty. Again you have to pay at least Rs. 5000 for board. Beware of this product.

Panasonic Japan has ordered Panasonic India to import phones from China and sell them in India to earn some cash because Panasonic Japan is suff losses since last few years. So Panasonic India contacted manufacturers in China and asked them to supply 6-7 different models after branding them as Panasonic. Actually, Panasonic has nothing to do with the Panasonic mobile phones other than having them branded with its logo so prospective customers can be easily tricked into buying these imported phones. Panasonic India markets these phones and it has outsourced after sales service to Karbonn Mobiles which itslef is very, very poor when it comes after sales repair and maintenance of phones. If your Panasonic phone needs to have a part replaced, I bet you will never be able to have it replaced because spare parts of Panasonic phones are not imported to India. Once broken, forever gone. Panasonic P51 = Alcatel Scribe HD = TCL Y900 Same phone, different names in different countries. Please, friends, don't make the same mistake as I. P55 and Eluga S is having updated Android version where as Panasonic p81 has bigger screen and bigger internal memory. Beside this other features are similar in all the three phones.   • Hi Guys, I am using this phone from past 2 weeks, purchased in Amazon for 11500. Pros: Antutu benchmark scored 33850 (it bet Zenfone 5 2GB ram, HTC 816 and Samsung Grand 2) Noticed zero Lagging and phone did not heat after 40 mins game. FM Radio with recording. Camera Clarity is decent (better than HTC 816, Zenfone, Samsung Grand 2). Battery is decent but not good enough for 5.5 Inch Screen. Very much satisfied with headset try with Poweramp application to listen songs, this headset will surprise. This phone is shipped with Flip cover and Scratch Guard. Cons: Build Quality can be better but cont expect more for this price. Battery should be 3000 Mah. Conclusion: Considering the price and specs this phone is a beast and I am very happy with over all performance.

Camera of Auxus is better focused in daylight than equivalent P81's.. but on zoom P81's shots fare better... but in low light, performance is equivalent. front camera is better in Auxus Note 5.5.. I expect Panasonic to provide better customer care, but hear that no updates for P81.. Purchased p81 yesterday. but feeling betrayed by No Update.. I hope it helps someone.. If you want advice, have a look at Gionee G5 or even better Xolo q 2100.. But find a way to disable Auto update from xolo.. you might notice some nuisance after that update.. specially while changing brightness mode manually.. from Power control widget, Xolo Q 2100's brightness starts to flickers a few times before fixing to desired brightness..   • I bought this last week from Amazon. Everything is great for a phone of this price range except the quality of the camera. It's a real disappointment. In low light, even using a flash, the photos are not up to the mark. I have compared this with the photos taken with Canvas Knight and Xiaomi 1s. Those are far better at least in this department, i.e. camera. If you need a good quality camera phone, then don't opt P81. Other than this, it's the best option in this price range (I got it for 10K with cashback).

  • I am thoroughly disappointed by the Manufacturer(Panasonic)and the online seller(Amazon.in. Firstly I was mislead by Amazon to purchase two items,ie,a PU Leather Pouch and a HD screen protector and had to reurn them at my courier cost totalling a loss of Rs 900 appx. I am get any refund. Second complaint is about the dial pad which randomly blinks during a call disabling me to use the dial pad function. On reporting the matter to amazon I was advised to return the phone. All in all the I find the software used is weak and erratic in its functions.

  • Hi BK, Panasonic never promised the kitkat update of Panasonic P81 , You should realise that P81 is not capable of running Lollipop.But kitkat update is in our roadmap for P81 and it may be the last update of this device because of 1GB RAM and of course we need updated drivers from the related chip manufacturing companies to update the device.   • The price fall is only online and not much in retail shops. In retails it is around 14-15k fallen from 18k when launced six months back, which is normal. The online price is mystery and suspicious.

  • Hey guys.I Am using p81 from 10 days and I didn't noticed any lag even playing high end graphic games like asphalt8,nfs most wanted,dead trigger 2,GTA San Andreas and all other games more than 1 GB .I am really amazed because even the free ram available is only 200 mb after installing all the apps it never hangs or lags.so for gaming this mobile is the best I will recommend Second thing about camera the camera is nice in the light but in low light picture quality is somewhat low but it is good and display is big enough to watch movies About the battery,it will last easily one day even if u play games or browsing .it has better battery backup I can't find any issues till now

  • hi, p81 owners, this phone is made by a company named coolpad and it de branded for panasonic.so panasonic cant give kitkat and "l"update .panasonic does not know what is android they fooled us by promising kitkat update. you may search "coolpad 7320" in google.only difference is the user interface cool pad 7320 costs only 9k inr but p81 cost above 12k, so dont expect any update -use custom roms for coolpad 7320. every p81 owner should contact facebook page of panasonic with the above matter thank you

  • U right Samsung is just a hype. All Samsung phones have hanging problems, battery drainage etc and ofcourse all look the same with change names. I have forgotten what is hanging ever since I bought P81.No single instance of hanging at all.

  • Frankly speaking if u want quality camera and thts the main requirement then this cell may not be good idea. The camera is good but lacks details incase u r zooming it. But the quality of camera is similar to note2 in terms of picture quality.otherwise the cell is suberb.

Wat i found is Panasonic p81= Grand 2>>Lenovo s920, k900, xperia c,Grand, XOLO 2000, Xolo 3000=Micromax Turbo ,canvas and all.. Battery Life is fantastic...Camera in Grand 2 is better.But still a nice camera for a normal user like me.. Its camera u can compare with Grand but speed is very fast of Panasonic p81....

  • I have owned this phone for over a month now & am a pro in handling Android phones plus root user, firstly, gsmarena should change the rating of this phone to atleast 8 as it deserves every bit of it. following are the cons, who wants to know pro when we know pro of this device is superb. 1) Camera users: KINDLY AVOID BUYING THIS PHONE, ITS CAMERA IS JUST NOT WORTH IT, AVERAGE VERY VERY AVERAGE 2) RAM Blamers: Dont blame the manufacturers for not putting in 2GB RAM unless you could not find any other device which lived up to your requirements, so this one is not the only phone on this earth that we curse the RAM, its enough RAM to do multitasking however not recommended for medium to hard core gamers (tested all possible games, from experience), so its superb for low to ok gamers from Playing perspective. 3) Download Manager : Is not all that perfect as it doesnt seem to hold on to downloading in the background well enough like old android phones could(Solution , use another one which is more reliable) 4) Front led blinker, I am not very happy about not being able to get this to work for other apps as its dedicated to work only for missed calls,low/full battery & sms pretty much, even my basic device i had before this could be modded for led experiments 5) MRP of this device should have begun around 14K and the best price that can be offered is around 13K that snapdeal is offering ATM. 6) Recent app history, does not come up easily on double tap if you multi task, moreover there are missing apps from running apps and mostly found in history or not at all ( I am using floating app switcher etc) 7) In Built junk apps, there are way too many apps in stock rom, you definitely need root to use this phone, if you dont, you will end up with RAM around 400MB or less. 8) No Stock ROM link available in case of losing core data , no customization for this phone yet, thank God I could use Framaroot to root it. 9) Flip cover in the package is not good, it wont help protect the phone and God forbid you drop the phone, you would probably end up damaging phone more so using flip cover than avoid using it (solution: Had to buy a magnetic pouch for its protection) 10) Last but not the least,Phone is good built but not enough that you can go out trekking without worrying about it getting damaged for little mistakes, I am not a rugged user, but this is not meant for travellers who are exposed to natural sorroundings more unless your phone is protected.

  • Received my P81 on 30th Aug . Till now its working fine . Before this I was having Samsung Grand , infact bought two Samsung grand in one year and there were lots of problems in Samsung. One SIM stopped responding so after reading all the reviews bought Panasonic P81. Though was bit confused as Panasonic mobiles are not so popular. But believe me its a nice fone, freat touch,no hanging issue, gr8 battery backup, nice display , light weight. Bought this set through flipcart at Rs 14200/- yes iam unable to chat(video) through Skype even after 3G connection. Any idea pls help to solve the isse. Yes when the screen is locked it displays two clocks . Pls let me know how to solve this problem too

  • using p81 since last 15 days.. very impressed.. super smooth.. some tips for tweaking performance:- 1) settings/battery - untick CPU power saving.. 2) settings/about phone - click build number several times to enable developer options.. then from developer optns set all animation scales to 0.5x.. 3) use DW contacts and dialer.. stock dialer is sticky.. 4) uninstall unwanted preloaded apps and disable unused system apps from settings/apps.. 5) root the phone and disable auto run permissions of desired apps.. freeze unwanted system apps with titanium backup which are safe to freeze.. 6) more than 400mb free ram after boot and 200mb free after multitasking.. 7) install viper4android fx to enhance music quality.. music quality is far more better than high end Sony Samsung devices.. Much more to explore.. Octacore is going to fly with further developments..

  • Go for snapdragon processor, this one has cortex. The multiple window feature is also for limited system apps. So better buy xiaomi or asus zenfone.

First, my requirements - Budget phone, something more than quadcore, something more than 5 inch, good sharp screen atleast 720p. Now the review. Looks-great, head turning, fantastic colours onscreen, back leatherette, huge screen but slim phone, hardly a cm or two over than my old gionee dream d1 with 4.7 inch screen. UI-i am big fan of nova launcher prime, replaced stock ui with nova, so no comments on ui. however screens of calling, sms look too good, nice green colour theme, each and every part of the theme & desktop is customizable. Video playback-the best i have ever seen till now, unique motion enhancing feature, feels as if you are watching a live recording of an hd video.Audio-good deep heavy bass, equalizer present with bass booster & 3d & reverb effect. Calling-is a charm. call & sms icon displayed beside each contact in contact list, so no need to open individual contact. Messaging-too good, folder mode & chat mode, message can be swiped on to next by a flick, no need to go back to inbox everytime to read next message.Hanging issues-not a single.   • I am using this mobile for last two and half months and I can say it's a very good mobile. Bought it for rs 17800 from Bihar. Mobile is ultra fast due to octacore processor. Doing 3g net and games very fast and smooth. No lag of any kind. Camera very good both for pic and video. Earlier was using karbonn titanium plus. p81 has very crisp and bright screen ideal for reading books, playing games, and doing net. I highly recommend this mobile. Believe me its far better than cheap Chinese brands like xiaomi. It is a Japanese masterpiece. Any application can be opened directly from lockscreen by drawing gestures. It works very well. Was confused between P81 and Grand 2 but I think my decision was correct.

Down load "mailwise" app form play store and try. it will work. some UI are fantastic. example in call log number it shows all the available number of the same contact which is unique. battery is good and lasting. not over heating while gaming of browsing.   • I am really surprised that it does not have Active sync. Nearly all smart phones have it. I have 3# P51 in my family and all very happy with it and this P81 being an advanced version over P51 should be having it. Just check again. Please confirm by trying these steps (from my P51 settings but it should be the same) Click on Email - Set up account next - Select Account - Other - Next - Enter your office email address and password and then next - "what type of account is this" should give you 3 options POP3 - IMAP - Exchange. Click on Exchange and complete your mail setup. If Exchange ActivSync is not there, you can try Emoze mail app for Android - my colleague is using on his Samsung Grand Duos for last 4 months now and he is happy.

  • @dicky1... I am confused between your first Q and this second Q. What is the problem you are facing - configuring office email or SIM not working. Configuring office mail is independent of SIM. If you are able to access mail from any other mobile, then it MAY be a problem with P81. I have said in my group, friends were cursing Samsung Grand and Panasonic P51 as not able to access office mail (talking of Outlook and not Lotus Notes). Later when problem reported to the IT Helpdesk, we came to know that their mail access over mobile was blocked. So my point was to confirm first your access to mail over mobile is approved.

  • Dear Sudhanshu, I am convinced it is a real problem with P81. If I put my SIM card in any other Android phone with same OS as P81 it works without any error. I have shown it to Pansonic service center and their marketing team and they have accepted that it is a s/w problem. Can you tell me what did your friend try to make it working ?

  • @Shellz - the size of the picture( which will be in megabytes MB and not mp ) is not the same as the pixels in the camera lens ( will be in Megapixels or mp ). No direct relation other than that a higher MP camera MAY result in higher MB picture size. As long as your pictures are coming out good, you need not worry about picture size MB.

  • @dicky...first check whether you are allowed to check mails from your mobile. Your network admin may have blocked mail access over mobile. Does not make sense blaming mobile for some other problem. The same has happened with my friend and my office colleague.

  • Today I bought did mobile its very excelleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Very sharp display.internet s verrrry fast than stupid Samsung. I'm well satisfied wit did mini laptop.through Samsung n buy p81 guys. Worth for or valuable money n expectations

  • P 81 is any day better than Sony mobiles in similar category like Xperia M2 and C.In fact I would say the display is comparable with Z series.Its looka more premium,better display and more features.Sony mobiles r over priced.

  • I bought this mobile few days back and I am completly satisfied with this.The only small drawback is 1gb ram but it doesn't effect the phone really but may be psychologically.I love the big screen and sharp colorful display.The mobile looks good and premium.Got for it guys.

  • hi harikrishanan, well im confused in panasonic p81, Xolo q3000, hp voicetab 6... which one should i go with..?? is panasonic worth..found good in panasonic p81 is they got multitasking... many xolo users are around n all are happy with xolo performance...only lag in xolo phones is they got stock android...suggest me a good deal...my use will be more as phablet not as phone...

  • Dear Mr.Vasanth, Actually I don't know anything regarding Huawei Honor-3C, other than given in GSMArena. The body & back cover of P-81 is made with good plastic with fine finish. Regarding the glass, nothing they specified anywhere but it is strong enough to play any game. The SAR values are 0.841W/kg in 1g(head) and 1.24W/kg in 1g(body). All other things I have already written in my first review. Now I am getting THREE days PLUS battery backup.

  • Mr.Kabir, Call quality is good and comparable with any leading brand. One thing I forgotten to mention, that is this mobile doesn't have a "magnetic compass" but no problem for GPS/Google maps/gaming etc.

Negative points are; 1.I think this is NOT a Panasonic designed mobile and they are branding it from Chinese makers (anyhow this mobile is superb). 2.The accessories supplied along with this mobile, including the charger is very bad in it's finish and quality. 3.The supplied head set's performance is like a footpath sold one. 4.No 'equalizer' for music. 5.No USB OTG function.(expecting the same while updating the software) 6.Not the latest version of android, but expecting an update soon. 7.Both Cameras are 'superb' but it produces little bluish tints while taking photos.
