I had one of these. The battery on my unit was bad. Very bad. I've then talked to other people who bought this phone as well, and their units had better batteries than mine. So it was my brand new unit that was faulty. Under warranty license, I took it back to the store, and they wouldn't accept it. Two mounts later, I sold the unit as a second hand item. When I first saw the phone, I fell in love with it, even though it was overpriced in my city. But the problems with the battery and the fact that it lost power couple of times broke my hearth. I wish I had a good working unit.

Charger is same unique to panasonic only, You can use ask for panasonic X700 or X70 charger on market, it is latest model than x400.

for me this phone has been pretty invincible. its been through some hard times, survived a night in the bush and dropped so many times. its always come back in once piece and that good enough for me. but i do like the flashing light thing and how its small. the thing i dont like about it is the reeealy short battery life and i would like more message space. but other then that it is good if you dont want a mega expensive phone, espicially if your one of those people that looses things, because its really tough and small and cute.

After about 2 years of using my x400, i realized it wasn't as good as i expected. my access in internet browsing stopped due to error in connection. i had it checked by CSR at G---- to have it checked, unfortuntely they had not any info about the fone, so i just wait for my contract with the service provider to end. right now i am using a samsung mobile, not a high end one, however i enjoyed using it, since the battery is great unlike the x400, i have it chraged overnight so that it might be useful during daytime. it was really a boring one. i only liked the screen because it really bright, unlike some other unit that's pixelated.

I am planning to this 3 year old phone frm a friend.. didnt wanna by new coz i keep losing. Now the battery life is really really bad considering my previous phone ran 2 days of hard usage with a single full charge. I was looking for a battery replacement thinking that its just gone bad but now that i see reviews here I think its always been like that! I talk about a total of an hour a day. And I run out of juice in 7-8 hours, meaning which i have to charge twice a day. Is this normal or do i replace batteries with new ones?

i got this phone a few months ago and it was previously owned before hand. the two panels along the front snapped off very quickly. and my battery life sucks. i have to charge my phone at least 3 or 4 times a day, just to text for five or ten minutes.

I have had this (red) phone for about 18 months or something and frankly, i really want a new one. The features are very limited and outdated, and being Panasonic, you'd think it would be up-to-date. Also, my battery life is pititful. I have to charge it practically every single day. The things that bugged me the bost is that you cannot scroll through photos, and speaking of which, you can only store about 30 photos. VERY limited memory.

ive had this phone for 1 year its quite durable ive dropped it countless times. but the phone feels really cheap and plastic. lags like hell. only 1 megabyte of picture storage. not alot of sms storage. and camera lags also. not able to scroll through pictures, if you open a picture, you must get out and go back into another picture instead of scrolling. would not recommend buying this phone.

I have had mine for about 18 months now and even though it has some bad features it also has some good GOOD FEATURES: Extremely durable, I have dropped mine many times and it hasn't broken yet. The Auto-Open Mechanisim still works after 18 months and isn't showing any signs of wear and tear BAD FEATURES: Extremely slow Slow T9 Rate, makes messaging a chore. Can't hear it ring at all and have to rely on vibration Bad reception, with a Nokia 3315 I got four bars in my bedroom, but with the X400 I get maybe 2 at the most and people are always telling me that they can't hear me One amusing thing about this phone is that I had to send it in twice to get repaired coz the charger connector was faulty and after it returned after being repaired on the second time, it didn't work so I threw it at the wall and it from then on has worked perfectly. I am definately never going to get another Panasonic mobile, I think my next phone when this one dies will be a Nokia 6280, Optus has a $29 plan that seems cheap enough for a 16-year old. So in conclusion, this phone can be extremely durable but it is not worth not being able to hear texts and calls, and not having reception. And being able to text quickly is very annoying for a teenager! Thankyou.

Hey eveyone! Well i have to say that I quite enjoy my x400. I am getting over it though. *Its too slow for me and, *its looking worst for wear. *I get frustrated with how much I need to charge it and that one phone call can flatten it out in about 2 minutes. lol. But you have to LOVE the fella. I do have a question though... I've taken alot of pics with mine, especially of bands and family members and just pics I really want to keep. I used to be able to email them to my computer and it was all good, everyone was happy, but lately I'm unable to. They send, but they never turn up. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?? Or is it just the phone packin it in on me. Is there any other way to get them off my phone and in a safe place?? lol. I don't want to lose them. HELP ME!! Reply to Wayne: Yes you can show when the message was sent and received. When you are at the message you want to show, just press the centre button and it will show you the time + date it was received. Hope this helps.

Sirs, I have a Panasonic X400 Mobile Phone but unfortunately, when the phone was being posted all the way from Switzerland the handbook got missing somehow on transit. I must comment that the phone is really a fine model though there are some avenues that I have not been able to fully explore in the phone because I dont have the handbook. Sirs, I hereby submit my plea if you people can supply me a copy. I must confess that I don't know if there are any criteria to be fulfilled but if there exist any, I am just willing to comply. i've had this phone for one and a half years. It has a stylish outter appearance however it's features are very limited. Good: stylish phone,thin, decent storage of contacts and messages Bad: lags a bit, very little storage, soft ringtones, no screen on the outside of the front flip, cannot send games to/from other phones, cannot create your own ringtone

X-400 is cute only with the outer casing not with the software inside; I could able to transfer the addresses only from SIM to the Phone and not from Phone to the SIM...I can set alarm but not the reminder..Battery charge holds not even a single day...tedious name selection....etc...The company need to concentrate more with improvement point of view...if you want to buy only Panasonic model, then check for other models except X-400.

I find the x400 awsome as it fits easlily into my front pocket and with the vibration turned on I never miss a call. However, it doesn't seem to record the date of text messages at all(incoming or outgoing). I have recieved some text messages that will be used as evidence in court, but the fact that dates aren't displayed is a real problem. Will it be possible to insert my sim card into another model to get the dates, or has the x400 simply not recorded them? Can someone help here?

I've had this mobile for at least more than a year and have not been able to send MMS at all since i bought it! Went to 3 different branches of my network provider but even they couldn't get to send an MMS! Don't think this mobile is able to send a pic or receive a pic without me having to go to a website to retrieve the pic sent to my mobile. Annoying and frustrating having this mobile! Have had this phone for about 10 months now, a real let down. It has a really slow T9 rate, so that if you write something incorrectly, you have to go back and erase the entire word and then reenter it. My charger connector has broken twice and it is now going in for its second repair :( I wrote Panasonic a letter, but they can't refund it because they call it a limited warranty or something :S Another bad point is that it is really soft, i mean i can be in a room that is right next door to my phone and i can't hear it ring :(:(:( Also, Panaosnic doesn't provide a handset manager, so the $70 AU i spent on it was basically a waste because if you want to send all your pictures, you have to go throught individually and do it :( Please do not buy this phone, buy a nokia, Nokia has always been a good brand and when this X400 dies, i am going to get a nokia flipphone

this phone is not the one you should be looking for. i was stupid enough to go and buy it and i strongly regret it as now i dont have enough money to buy one that is actually useful. the good features are the camera thats about it it has hardly any memory at all, it can only sound record for fifteen seconds, the camera doesn't have a zoom, the ringtones arn't loud enough to hear in a shopping centre, you will have to rely on the vibration alert, which is also not very good. the battery power is also a put off the most mine has lasted for is 1 day and i didnt use much at all. i followed the charging instructions at the start but it didn't help. dont buy this phone, trust me because i trusted the people that said it was good and i deeply regret that DO NOT BUY IT, WASTE OF MONEY

hi Guys i had been to japan sometime back on the wayback thought of checking out some mobile phones and found x400 (looking cute). As i did not have a sim with me at that time i did not get to checkout its options. i bought it anyways. But now i feel i made a great mistake of buying it. I could have gone for a nokia instead. I would recommend anyone who is going to buy this phone not to buy it and go for something else other than x400.

i got this phone in May, and i think it is a real let down! the battery life is really stupid, the longest mine has lasted is 2 days and i don't even use it much! and in this phone, my signal is really poor, where as in my nokia 7210, it is a lot better! if you rely on your phone all the time, this is a bad one to get! it may look good, but when you start to use it you will soon change your mind about it trust me i changed my mind within a week of having it!

i dig this phone. i took awesome snapshots with it. unfortunitly it feel into water and it wont work anymore and i cant find the booklet that says anything about its warranty!!! i miss it dearly!! and i have no idea what phone can take its place!! :(:(

This is truly without a doubt the worst phone i have ever invested in. Its capabilities are extremely limited. A 6 year old Nokia would beat this hands down, Looks the business but really its not. It talks the talk but can't walk the walk. Very poor battery, poor sound, poor reception constantly dropping calls, keypad is the worst part though, really really hard to use, never buying a panasonic again. Duped into buying a good looking dud!

I have got the panasonic x400 gsm mobile phone. some times back i was having the problem with the picture quality it was hazzy. and yesterday when i was playing the game over it it went blank and i can see is only white screen and all the other software is not vissible. i tried to start and stop the phone also but all invain. please tell me what to do i don't have the software or the data cable to load it. can you give me the reset code of the handset so that i could make it work again. needs help sevierly.

it's a very cute cell phone. even if the battery is not like Duracel (and goin, and goin, and goin) :) it's small and for a man who wants only to call and to be called on it it's ok. if you want a cell phone with videocamera and recorder and mp3 and whatevr you want BUY A LAPTOP OR PC. phones are made to call and to be called not to use them like a pc. i'm satisfyed with my X400. i love it. panasonic rules. i had before a GD52 and it was a great phone too. so Panasonic rules guys even if you like it or not

this phone looked great in the catalogues!!! but i was sure wrong!!!! i wish i had checked whether it had a data suite first! or even a data cable!!!! but no i was an idiot and brought this phone, now after only 8 months i have to move my phone the right way to charge it and then yesterday it didn't work at all!!! i am going to send it off for repairs because as i got it finally charging it started to overheat!!! so when it comes back for repair i am gonna sell it n save for a phone that is WORTH IT!!! i have put it back in its box and am waiting for the courier to pick it up for repairs so i am using my brothers old 3315! it is a much better phone! You can hear it ring!!!! You can hear the person at the other end without hurting your ear by pressing it up so hard!!!! seriously don't waste your money on this phone!!! all my friends say why do you hate it! well they should get it and live with it for a week, doing all the things i do!!!

I was attracted by the look of this Panasonic X400 and got into a 24 month plan. After I've got it I bitterly regretted. It is a beautiful shell with soooo poor functionalities. The camera quality was sooooo poor for its resolution - I mean it is SO POOR compared with a Nokia phone with the SAME resolution. The photos are like you have poured melted butter over the lense. You accidentally touch the camera button slightly, and it turns on the camera, and it remains on until you turns it off, chewing up the limitted battery power. "Use key lock!" You would say. Yes. There is no automatic key lock on - automatically locking the key after being idle for some minutes - a function that Nokia already have five to ten years ago. So you have to go through at least SEVEN key strikes and navigations to turn the key lock on. It has a calendar, and you can look at it, but that is ALL you can do! You can't put a note on a certain date, not mentioning set alarm for someone's birth day. Again, Nokia's cheapest models allows you to put note on calendar many years ago. Infrared works only at closest distance (closer than 10 centimeters), and sometimes it does work even this close. If you want to transfer photos (God knows why you think it is worthwhile!), you have to go through quite a few key strikes repeatedly for EACH photo - there is no "transfer all photos" function. The battery, which was said to last up to 300 hours, lasts only 50 hours idle. I remembered after I started to knock my head on the wall, that I spent nearly $300 to buy a top-of-the-range Panasonic codeless phone five years ago, and after two years it went dead. I mentioned it to my colleagues, and he said he, and one of his friend both had the same experience - expensive Panasonic phones going dead after two years. Panasonic phones are either deliberately or poorly designed to go dead after two years! Luckily, after consulting cosumer right protection organizations and serious reading of relevant regulations and quoting them in my letter to the provider, I am out of the contract without panalties. I have ordered a Nokia 6610i and expecting it this morning. It was like a nightmare, glad I am waking up to find the sun.

i have had this fone 4 like 10months now and its ok, and useable but, i have more bones 2 pik with it than comments of praise, firstly the battery life is SH!T and when it gets down 2 the red bar,if u wanna make a call ur dreaming, cos it will just die on u, secondly, SMSing its extremely slow, and takes agessss 2 respond u often miss leters cos of the sheer lack of response time the fone has, sms storage wise it holds 300 msgs so thats all good, mms is good 2, but picture storage,tone storage and sms template storage levels r shocking they hold hardly nethin, it all equates 2 1mb but if u want alotta tones on ther with a fair few pics, well its kinda impossible 2 have spare room. also ringtone volume is crappy, numerouse times iv missd calls cos i havnt heard it, n vibrate is crappy 2, for example i was sittin in class n it was on silent and my mate next 2 me heard the vibrate, n told me i hada msg, wer as i didnt even feel it in my pocket, in my skwl pants now that says sumthin, but if iwas 2 go bak again n have the choise of buyin this fone, well i wouldnt spend $288 AUD like i did, on it, id much rather buy the k700i which does 10times more than this, hope this has been helpful, and just one more thing as im typin this the darn fone wont charge i put it on n it stops chargin with in 30secs, n yet the battery is practially ded! sumit up n make the choise but i wouldnt buy it Jono

i don't have any negative things seen about the features. i only have 1 concern its the scratch that my phone is getting when i open the flip button .the scratch is located on the upper portion of the camera which i have observed the cause of it is thelack of space for the front cover of my phone. my problem now is,,, i wanted to remove the scratch,, is there anyway i can have it removed.. thank you

this phone is alright, not tha best, ringtone volume not great when on full ball! missed heaps of calls, camera quality is alright, you can only send numbers, pics and ringtones via infrared dont think about sending games just says "invalid infrared data" other than those couple of faults a pretty alright phone

Hi all, I got this phone about 3 months ago and i have to say - i hate it. I fell in love with the look of it but it doesn't have much going on - its like a typical blonde. My boyfriend wanted me to get a nokia but i just jumped at it because of the look. The battery is c**p to say the least, no reminders, in-built tones are awful, especially when it comes to an alarm going off at 6 in the morning. Speaking of the tones, i can never hear the phone if it's in my bag and i've missed countless calls because of it. And as for texting. Everytime i text someone i get accused of being drunk, the pad is far too slow for the modern day texter, it misses too many letters and the T9 is very bad. On any other phone if you type a word and you notice its wrong you can just scroll back to the word and the whole lot highlights, not this one - you have to delete the whole word and key it again. So many people have not been texted back because i couldn't be bothered with the hassle. So anyway in short - do not buy this phone....

I was impressed by the appeanrance of the phone but totatlly disppointed by the features; the calendar does not work like a reminder to all your appointments and the alarm clock can be setted once. Is there anyway I get these features into my phone. Furthermore the game is totally not normal as such golf is so unfriendly. HOW ??

i just got the X400 a few days ago. first impressions not to bad, not sure about the battery life, hasnt been that long yet but i think the phone is missing a few features which it could've included for its software like themes and screensavers. the screen could also be bigger. otherwise its a good phone. oh yeah, for those that wonder about the push button to open thing, the mechanism is actually pretty strong and the hinges are also pretty strong and the phone has a nice fit overall.

I just wanted to ask a couple of things about this mobile. I can get a special offer through work and this was one of the phones offered. The other choices where a nokia 7260, a panasonic a200 and a nokia 3120. I didn't really like the look of the other phones as I want a flip phone so my screen stops getting scratched to the point I can't see anything!! As I have always been a nokia user, I need to know if the panasonic x400 will do just as well? Does it vibrate? - have to have phone on silent at work so rely on vibrate to let me know a message or call is coming through. Other than that just want a phone for call/texting purposes that is as slim as a non-flip phone like my current 6610

I got the Panasonic for my birthday. I love it. All my friends love it aswell. The camera is brilliant and the pictures are really clear. The design is amazing I love the plush black. The button to flip the phone up is so cool! the inner screen is great. All the rumours about the joystick scratching the screen are totally un true! I love all the features!!! The buttons can be a bit slow but not as slow as people have made out. The battery goes down very quickly though. This is the only bad thing about this phone. The good thing is that it doesn't take long at all for it to charge. I'm in love with this phone. I'd seriously recommend it to anyone. GO FOR IT! BUY IT!

For size, this phone is awesome. For text messages, I have been close to throwing this phone across the room on several occasions. Because of the flush keypad I have found it very hard to type on it, it is also extremely slow in keeping up and tends to "miss" keystrokes on a regular basis. You have to go through four different "modes" of text (eg T9, T9 in caps, 0-9, Abc etc) when typing a message which gets very annoying. Overall the phone is quite basic featurewise but does the job but if you like sending lots of SMS or want a phone that is speedy then I don't recommend this one. It does have some nice bits and pieces to it, but I have had it for only 3 months and am already looking to buy a different model...

Loved this phone at first glance. Am a big Panasonic fan, all household entertainment items Panasonic. Have had this phone less than six months - really let the team down. Turns itself off, minimal interesting features. Hate to say it, not a good representative of Panasonic quality.

Iv had this fone since mmm december04 and it tends to annoy me now i mean i love it cos no1 else has it, its easy 2 upload and download pictures to and from the fone 2 the computer u just connect it via infared port and then activate ur infared on the fone and then send ur desired pic or midi....but one thing that i dont like is that i cant send java games through the normal windows infared so i hada purchase software 4 that!. umm camera wize its pretty good but not the best, downside no zoom, its a nice simple fone that laks some features but mmmmmm if u rnt in it 4 the features n u jus want a fone that takes pics this is 4 u! reali nice lookin love the different LED's wen u hv missed call, on the fone, msg, chargin..... Is the battery life really that bad??I think this phone is sooo sexy and i want it bad but after having read some of these comments I don't know anymore. My first phone was also a panasonic and it sucked so i really need to know how good(bad) this phone is.

I've had the Panasonic X400 for about a month now and so far it's been pretty good. Although it does not have an external display, there is a small vertical line in the middle that flashes different colours to signify different things. For example,purple when there is an incoming call, green for missed call, etc. Camera quality was more clear than I expected, and can be switched to easily by pressing a button on the side. There is even a little "mirror" on the external flip so you can position the phone and get the photo right. I have had no problems with the scrolling button (the main one at the centre) scratching the screen. Because of the phone's choice of casing, fingerprints are easily left on the screen. I didn't recharge the phone fully before using, which might be the reason why the battery life isn't that great. When I first used it, it would not even last for one whole day, but now I have changed the display so that the screen isn't so bright and also turning the key backlight off - which all saves power consumption so the battery lasts longer. The keys are a little flat, but still not all that difficult to press. All in all, I am happy with the phone =) I've always had Nokias but this is a nice change.

Phonebook: Sim (for me) 250, phone 300 - 550 total Camera - good to excelent Games - Java, log onto box.panasonic.com once wap/gprs is active and get some more for free (as well as ringtones, walpapers, ect) Infrared port - yes. use this to move stuff to/from phone. will need infrared port on your computer. Bluetooth, no. Calander, yes. But cant mark dates. Its only a calander. Alarm, calculator - I'm sure you can work those out Sound recorder - make verbal note to yourself, add your voice to an MMS. Cant use these for ringtomes (BLAH) Screen is bright. Sounds are clear, some ringtomes are soft, others are not, depends on how they are made i guess. Battery, charge for at least 12-16 hours initially, then recharge overnight as needed. phone should have 2-3 day standbye then. For best life wait till phone beeps before recharging and then recharge overnight. 2-3 hour charge will get you 24 hours or so. in text mode, quick press of star button will change allcapitals, lowercase, upper/lower case. Hold star button will change to numbers mode (also for the star charater), Predictive text mode. Press and hold 1 (outside number mode) for charaters like @ # $ I think that covers most of what has been asked. In all a good phone, best suited for the casual chatter such as myself.

I just bought the x400. very stylish phone and the auto flip is fantastic. The camera is much sharper than my Nokia, but the phone lacks a few features i like about Nokia. Can you use recorded sounds as ringtones? Is there a reminder function or calendar notes? Can you add new folders into the media section? If you can help with any of these queries i would be very grateful.

The battery life is poor when compared to another household phone: SOny Ericsson. UX100 as excellent design but what good is that if you cannot voice breaks up. I am now using the old NOKIA phone and the reception is EXCELLENT when compared to the UX100. The UX100 replaced the NOKIA but the NOKIA is now replacing the UX100 - after 6 months redundancy. The retailer is adamant nothing is wrong - I know it is. I am now in the process of going to the small claims court to recoup my original investment.

This phone is continuously out of order-the retailer has sent it back to the supplier on five occasions for "repair". Each "repair job" takes two weeks. I just received it back yesterday-havent tried it yet. The problems are voice breaking up. It is not the signal strength because other household phones are perfect in the same spot at the same time. I would like to alert users.

It's nice and easy to use, but the sound is not that load. I hope its not something in its hardware. Sometimes the battery goes dead although it is charged for 2 hours.

Personlly, I found Panasonic X400 really cool, just pushing the side button to flip open is really cool. The look is classy and eye catching. The features are really neat even if you're not really a techy-person. The screen is really sharp compared to other brands. Ofcourse all celfones has their downside, but what's important is it suits your taste, style and needs. The battery lasts according to your usage just like any other cellfones so don't be dismayed. It would be wise to have an extra battery handy, just in case. Actually I already sold three of it, all in black cover, and orders are still coming in. My rate for X400: ****

this fone is quite easy to use and has a cute design. i had the gd88 before this one (until it was stolen sigh) and compared with that, the screen is much smaller and the pic resolution probably isnt as good (it has lines through it). it also lags quite a bit...dunno if its cuz ive downloaded too much things onto it. and the battery...yeah, its almost non existent. hehe actually, im wondering if everyone has had a problem with the battery life or just me. cuz i didnt charge it for the recommanded 12 or something hours the first time and recharged it the second time only after using one box of the battery...dunno if its just me who wrecked it or its just like that anyway. the novelty features on this phone are all quite good, like the alarm, ringtones etc. actually, not enough games. worth the price

i bought this phone and i am pefectly happy with it. the joystick is doing nothing to my screen and button to open the phone it fine. if you open it like a normal flip phone it sounds funny so i dunno. oh yeah also if you don't allow the phone to open up all the way, it won't close, it will keep flipping up. everything is fine. except that the battery life is very poor. i have to charge it everyday. the volume is fine for me. sometimes it's too loud. =___+ there are no calender notes. (damn) only just a monthly calender thing where there is a option to go to a certain date. i use the infra red to connect phone to comp. =] n to put ringtones on. the camera is alright i guess. it's thin but then it big in lenght and all. in aust they do have the white and red one. i just chose the black one cos it looks the best.

I, like most other people, looked at the X400 and thought it looked like a great phone. Its stats were a good read and I thought great . . . buy it. OOOOOPS! Battery life is rubbish, a day if I am lucky. The screen rubs on the joystick button so I have a nice (NOT) lovely scratched circle on my screen. The buttons need double pushes quite often. The volume is poor, both the earpeice and the speaker. Thats just the hardware !! I STRONGLY recommend not purchasing this phone!

Lin, the camera works well. It's really clear. There aren't any folders for the pictures, though, so they all stay in one place. Either that or i still haven't figured out how to put it in folders. Same with messaging. It's fine but i also don't think there are folders coz I can't find the option for it.

Just got this phone and it looks good! Don't expect too much from it though coz it lacks features. It's a simple phone but it works well. It's not that expensive but you get good camera and sound quality. The keypad is also convenient. ;)

I think the phone will be out on Q3 to Q4, I 'de like to correct the info regarding the Infrared port....it has an Infrared port....above the LED..below the mirror...get it. Why I know.....secret...It is a very good phone compare to the others on its level.....the X700 might be the flagship but I rather buy this X400.
